Watchtowers of the Seven Stars
3. All the Realm’s Rivers End In the South
The eternal Silver River spans the northern night sky. Like a bolt of silk, the gentle aurora shines on the present just as it had shone on the past. Duan Ling remembers Wu Du telling him once that he didn’t like the nighttime, if only because the night is pitch-black.
But sometimes, Duan Ling favours the night, for nighttime has a sky full of stars, rare hours of tranquillity, brief moments of solitude, and dreams without boundaries and without end.
Night, like how right now he has his arms around his father’s waist, his head against his father’s powerful back. The sound of hoofbeats thunder through the snow and vibrate through his ears; the fragmentary noises of armour scraping against armour string together into a continuous, gentle rustling in the night.
The sun slowly rises between the mountains, and the world finally takes on colour again.
What he hears is the long-lost clamour of civilization; coming back from the wilderness, Duan Ling feels as though it’s been a long, long time since he’s seen the hustle and bustle of a city.
From the day the army set off on their expedition and Duan Ling stole away to follow them, leaving Jiangzhou for the north, three months have already gone by. Wu Du once asked him if he misses Jiangzhou, but of course he doesn’t. Both Wu Du and his father are here, so that’s basically home anyway.
Li Jianhong has been looking displeased this whole time, and his murderous aura is even more pronounced than usual. When they arrive at the encampment in Baihe, he throws Duan Ling over his shoulder and carries him off like some sort of animal. Duan Ling is all at once awake, and he starts struggling, but Li Jianhong simply carries him all the way into the marshal’s residence and drops him onto the daybed in the main hall.
“Are you so sure that I won’t beat you to death?!” Li Jianhong says, furious.
Yawning, Duan Ling grabs the blanket on the daybed and wraps it around himself. Li Jianhong is basically so angry that he’s not even sure where to begin anymore. He takes off his bracers and unstraps his armour, tossing each piece to the floor loudly in a series of metallic clangs.
“Why you …” After Li Jianhong has finished removing his armour, he strides up to Duan Ling, and Duan Ling immediately retreats into the blankets, leaving two eyes exposed to stare at his dad.
“Don’t yell at me anymore,” Duan Ling protests, “I’m going to sleep!”
Li Jianhong glares at him. Then he says grimly, “Get in here.”
“Aye,” Chang Liujun replies from outside and briskly walks in.
“Pass this message onto the rest of the army: we’ve found the crown prince. Wu Du failed in his duty. Although he’s already been dispatched to perform a mission, martial law must not be neglected. He will be demoted three ranks, and once he returns, he will be beaten by the truncheon …”
Duan Ling throws his blanket off and sits up. “Don’t you hit Wu Du anymore!”
“If it wasn’t for him, who’d take you all over the place and let you get into trouble all the time? This could have turned into a much bigger problem. What are we supposed to do if you fell into Mongolian hands?”
“The situation we were in was complete chaos at the time,” Duan Ling disputes, frowning. “At the moment of the ambush, how were we supposed to know where our people were and where the enemy was? They all say that when a general is on the field he can’t always follow orders. And here you are punishing him again!”
Li Jianhong bellows, “If he doesn’t go along with everything you say, why would you have ever run away from Jiangzhou to begin with and come all the way here?! You’re out of control!”
Duan Ling yells back, “Can’t you at least be reasonable?! I ran away myself! What did that have anything to do with him?!”
“Recall Wu Du for me right this minute!” Li Jianhong howls angrily at Chang Liujun.
“If you hit him again, I’m leaving!” Duan Ling is also howling angrily.
Chang Liujun keeps mum. He looks one way at Li Jianhong, then the other way at Duan Ling, and he’s finding it momentarily difficult to manage being stuck in the middle.
Li Jianhong’s breathing is coming in hard. Chang Liujun slowly backs away, saying, “Then … I will go in a little while.”
At the drop of his last word, Chang Liujun is gone like a gust of wind.
In a prolonged bout of silence, Li Jianhong finally speaks again, sounding entirely hostile, “Even since that knave started following at your side, you and I have been constantly at odds.”
Duan Ling’s also got a dark expression on his face. He refuses to speak.
“That docile and decorous demeanour you used to possess has vanished entirely,” Li Jianhong adds coldly. “My whole life, I only ever wanted you to be happy, and so you often behave atrociously under his abetment, putting yourself in danger, keeping me always in constant dread …”
“I’m the one who did wrong,” Duan Ling says, still as stubborn as ever. “That has nothing to do with him. You never used to speak harshly to me either, but ever since Wu Du’s been with me, you’ve been constantly finding fault with him. At any rate, if you don’t like someone then no matter what he does you’re going to say he’s doing wrong. Someday, once I’ve annoyed you once too many times, I’ll make sure to vanish from your sight without you having to ask. I won’t stick around to bother you.”
Li Jianhong remains silent.
Once Duan Ling finishes speaking, he turns away and falls onto the daybed with his face to the wall, ignoring Li Jianhong out of spite.
Li Jianhong can but sit behind the table helplessly, letting out one long sigh. All the murderous rage has gradually, finally subsided.
Soon, Duan Ling stirs. Li Jianhong says, “Are you hungry? Want breakfast?”
Duan Ling retreats closer to the wall, sneaking a glance at Li Jianhong in the meantime. Li Jianhong is squatting behind the table, drinking without looking at him.
“You should have at least found someone who’s less of an eyesore,” Li Jianhong says.
Duan Ling ignores his dad and flips over again.
“You making pancakes over there?” Li Jianhong continues, “if you’re thirsty, get up and have some water.”
Now Duan Ling gets up. Li Jianhong’s slender fingers pick up a cup of tea and set it down before him. Duan Ling drinks it in one gulp.
“I want more,” Duan Ling says.
And so Li Jianhong gets up and pours him more tea. When their eyes meet, Duan Ling’s gaze is full of resentment.
“Look at you. Are you just itching to fight your dad to the death or what,” Li Jianhong says offhandedly as he hands the second cup of tea to Duan Ling.
Duan Ling drinks that as well, and he wants more. “I can fight somebody else to death.”
“Now that definitely won’t do. Can you bear to leave me behind all by my lonesome to feel sad?”
Upon hearing these words, the edges of Duan Ling’s eyes go red in an instant.
Li Jianhong adds, “Judging by the way you look at me like I’m some nemesis you’d fight to the last breath, someday, if I really do die first, you’d probably be sad once it hits you. If I die alongside you, then we’d save us all this shouting. In the next lifetime, I’ll reincarnate as your son, and you can be my dad. Whatever you owe me now, I’ll make sure to get it all back. That’d teach you how much grief it is.”
“Pfft,” Duan Ling laughs. To him, if he ever holds a grudge against anyone it wouldn’t be against Li Jianhong. With this one laugh, they’ve basically reconciled.
“Hey,” Duan Ling says.
“Hay’s for horses.” Li Jianhong hands him his third cup of tea.
Duan Ling stops after drinking only half of it.
“Dad,” Duan Ling calls him.
Li Jianhong raises an eyebrow, meaning if he’s got something to say he should just say it. Duan Ling sits there a bit awkwardly and suddenly starts to hate himself. That day, when Li Jianhong left to go on this campaign, he’d taken Wu Du and Chang Liujun with him, while Li Yanqiu was supposed to guide Duan Ling in administration work for the court, leaving Lang Junxia and Zheng Yan to protect Duan Ling and to keep him company. Duan Ling couldn’t stop worrying about Li Jianhong though, and he missed Wu Du besides, so thinking that once they part it’d be at least a year before they get to see each other again, he’d hid in a carriage and came along.
It had taken Lang Junxia ages to catch up to him. Duan Ling was in the forest then, catching hares for dinner, and got caught right then and there. Once they met up with the army, he clung onto Li Jianhong and refused to let go, so Li Jianhong could only take the little young master along.
“Originally, I’d …” Duan Ling says, “never mind.”
Duan Ling was going to say that he only followed Li Jianhong because he couldn’t bear to part with him, but he’s not a kid anymore, so it’s embarrassing to admit to being so clingy.
Li Jianhong sits on the daybed in front of Duan Ling with his back to him. “Rub my shoulders for me.”
So Duan Ling tries his best to drum along Li Jianhong’s shoulders, gripping his sore muscles. A slight furrow remains between Li Jianhong’s brows. Duan Ling says, “The day you left, I had a dream about that year in Shangjing.”
“Which year?” Li Jianhong says offhandedly.
“That year. I dreamt that you came to rescue me, and on the street just outside the Viburnum, you were shot to death.”
“You’re clearly thinking about that guy. You think I’m a child you can fool by making up a story like this?”
“I’m serious!” Duan Ling says anxiously, “I had such a long dream too … During that time in the dream I didn’t know you were gone, so I went all the way to Xichuan in the snow, but Lang Junxia tossed me into the river. Good thing Wu Du saved me.”
“Look at this look at this,” Li Jianhong just finds this hilarious. He says, “What on earth kind of grievance do you have against Wuluohou Mu anyway? And you say I hold a grudge?”
“Are you going to listen or what?”
Duan Ling pulls at the red string with the jade arc that Li Jianhong wears so it tightens around his strong neck, and Li Jianhong immediately begs for mercy. Duan Ling pulls him closer then, pushing him onto the bed. Duan Ling straddles his waist and rubs at his face. Li Jianhong’s handsome face gets kneaded and he sighs with pleasure.
Duan Ling grabs a towel and puts it across his father’s forehead, then sits down on the step at the edge of the daybed. “In the dream, everyone was picking on me. Cai Yan passed himself off as me and became the crown prince.”
“This Wuluohou Mu is seriously reprehensible,” Li Jianhong says, the corner of his mouth quirking up a tiny angle, “on the contrary, Wu Du is so loyal …”
Duan Ling kneads Li Jianhong’s knees for him, the back of his legs, and the joints of his fingers to loosen the knots, narrating every detail of that nightmare in the meanwhile — from the Xianbei Mountains to Xichuan, then Jiangzhou, Hebei … halfway through, thinking that Li Jianhong’d fallen asleep, he lowers his volume, but he still doesn’t want to stop, and so starts to mumble to himself.
“… Batu brought twenty thousand soldiers to lay siege to my city …”
To his surprise, Li Jianhong says, “I’m still listening.”
Duan Ling is massaging the knots out of his hands, so Li Jianhong turns his palm over and grabs Duan Ling’s fingertips, locking their fingers together, and then he sways their hands back and forth. He withdraws his hand again, gently strokes his fingers over Duan Ling’s face, and gives his cheek a squeeze.
And so Duan Ling continues his story all the way to the end. When he’s done, his mind is still engrossed in the dream, and his words come haltingly. For a long time, he can’t seem to shake it off.
“That’s the end of it,” Duan Ling says. He climbs onto the daybed and takes away the towel he’d placed over Li Jianhong’s eyes earlier. His father’s eyes seem a bit red to him; they stare at each other without a word.
Duan Ling looks wonderingly at him.
Li Jianhong stretches, sits up cross-legged, and hugs Duan Ling, putting his head on his shoulder. The jade arc on his bare chest sways with the motion, and it touches the jade arc in front of Duan Ling’s neck. They shimmer with a gentle glow.
“Aren’t you going to say anything?” Duan Ling says.
“It’s a dream. What can I ever say about it?” Li Jianhong looks at him strangely, “Let’s go practice your martial arts.”
Duan Ling is left speechless. He follows Li Jianhong outside to practice. It is getting close to evening, and the snow is gilded in gold.
“Dad,” Duan Ling says when they’re halfway through the set, turning at the same time as Li Jianhong. Li Jianhong’s eyes are focused on Duan Ling’s back, his palm held up vertically as he fixes Duan Ling’s posture.
“Yeah, my son.” Li Jianhong is clearly preoccupied.
“Don’t punish Wu Du again,” Duan Ling stops moving and implores.
“Fine fine fine,” Li Jianhong says, “out of everyone in the world, Your Highness Li Ruo is the greatest of them all. Whatever you say goes.”
“Out of everyone in the world, you’re the one who’s greatest,” Duan Ling says resentfully. “You just can’t stand to see me being nice to anyone is all.”
“Of course I can’t stand to see you being nice to anyone,” Li Jianhong says, baffled. He holds up a finger and beckons Duan Ling over to block his moves, and as Duan Ling blocks and parries, he continues, “You’re only realising this now? That scoundrel’s swindled you away, so then what about me?”
Duan Ling’s not sure if he should laugh or cry — neither in words nor in fights is he a match for his father.
“Can I castrate him?” Li Jianhong says.
Duan Ling is utterly speechless.
“That or we can make things fair,” Li Jianhong says with a deadpan expression on his face, "Some other day I’ll also …’
Li Jianhong was going to say I’ll also go find myself a lover, but as soon as he thinks of his late wife, he feels a sadness coming over him. Duan Ling naturally knows what he was about to say as well, and his expression darkens immediately. Li Jianhong stops himself in time and says instead, “Don’t do unto others what you would not want done to you. Can’t you stop for a moment and think about how your dad feels?”
“It’s not the same thing.” Duan Ling feels a bit bitter, and he stands there dejectedly in the snow.
Li Jianhong knows he’s gone too far and feels rather remorseful about it; he immediately vows that he would never do such a thing. But Duan Ling is still a bit sulky.
“Alright, alright,” it’s Duan Ling’s turn to fly off the handle, “stop talking! I’ve forgotten it all already!”
“Sure sure sure,” Li Jianhong knows he’s said something out of line and must make amends. He gets an idea and says, “We won’t demote Wu Du anymore.”
Duan Ling finally feels somewhat happier, but as night falls, he’s still a bit worried about what Wu Du is doing. After dinner, Li Jinghong takes his son into his room.
“You’re not going to convene a meeting and plan the next battle?” Duan Ling asks.
“My head hurts,” Li Jianhong says. “I don’t want to fight right now. There’s a bed here so let’s sleep today. We’ll worry about all that tomorrow.”
And so Li Jianhong tosses his son into the bed, lies down next to him, and goes to sleep.

Do you like my coconuts?
Today felt like a beach day. So that’s what we made it.
But because we already checked out all the nearby beaches and still wanted to see something new, google told us about one, called Tub Kaek, that was about 30min drive away and supposedly very quiet because all that is around there are some ‘luxury hotels’.
For some reason, the coffee at our hotel this morning was absolutely disgusting so we had another one in a café across the road just to wake up a little. From there, we walked up to a first taxi we saw and asked if he could take us there.
Tumblr media
He said he could and that he’d wait for us there however long we’d like and drive us back. This seemed like a pretty simple solution so off we went. He did offer to stop at a place with elephants on the way which we refused. I had one elephant sanctuary planned near Chiang Mai that actually takes care of the elephants rather than uses them to make money off tourists and I’m really annoyed we didn’t get to do that. But with how packed this place is and how many tour stand offer this experience here, I get the feeling that although they don’t do riding on elephants anymore, it’s really just to make the tourists feel better about being ‘ethical’ but they’re not actually treated that well. We did drive past it though so at least we got a quick glance from the car.
I have to say, I’m a big fan of taxis here because it’s just a truck with a roof over the back and you sit outside. Saves us from aircon and we get nice breeze. We did ask if there is anything else interesting on the way there but he said not really.
Tumblr media
The beach was pretty much as described. Not many people, no tour boats and quiet. Exactly what we needed after yesterday. We bought ourselves a floatie so we took it with us and just chilled, read a book and went for a swim. At one point, we decided it was time for cocktails so Alex went for a walk to find us some. I gave him 500 baht note and two 100 notes just in case they didn’t have change. Well he came back saying that he spent all of that on 2 cocktails… I think he may have found the most expensive drinks in all of Thailand.
Thankfully, we also saw a woman with a stand near the entrance to the beach so I walked up to see if she had any coconuts. And she did! We’ve been talking about having some for a few days now but always forgot until it was too late. So I carried two of them across the beach, surprised how damn heavy they were! Who says you can’t get a good workout on holiday.
Tumblr media
We did consider renting paddle boards but by the time the sun went down a little, we were so exhausted from the heat we just wanted to go home. We also didn’t dare to look how much the food is around here but were getting fairly hungry.
Once back in Ao Nang, we popped into the same restaurant we visited the first day and I asked for an Irish coffee so I could finally take a picture! Unfortunately they didn’t have any cream so it just looked like a sad iced coffee. Oh well, you’ll just have to imagine it and I’ll try to figure out how to make it at home. As the restaurant was completely empty, Alex had a chat with the owner (I say Alex because as it turns out, I go non-verbal when I’m too hot and tired). We did get some tips on how to bribe Thai officials for work visa. Could come in handy one day.
The evening plan was slightly more active- shopping for elephant trousers! I will probably be buying 5+ pairs at some point to bring home with me because it’s the comfiest thing I have ever worn and I need to get enough to last me until someone I know goes to Thailand next time and who knows when that might be. The majority of the shopping will likely be done in Bangkok, including an additional suitcase, but I saw a really colourful pair yesterday that I simply needed to have. Well that and I also need something to wear here because we packed quite light.
Tumblr media
We discussed what to do tomorrow and I decided I could probably pull off driving here because the traffic is surprisingly light. There is a place called Emerald Pool about and hour drive away from here and since renting a motorbike is only 200 baht/day (around £5), we will be doing that! Wish us good luck so that we don’t get lost on the way although it might end up being a more interesting story.

amsterdam 18th december
I had never been in this region of Europe during the winter before. Or, what seems the winter to me—the months that begin with the first of December and end with February, all solstices aside. Unlike Mum, who lived part of her life in London during an era when the kind of cold we encountered today would have been unthinkable, I could more easily rationalise the minus-five chill which welcomed us on the streets as we headed out for the morning. It occurred to me, looking at the number displayed on the weather app before my eyes, that this was something like the coldest weather I have lived in my whole life. I pulled a scarf up around my nose to face this freezing state of affairs until we reached the Rijksmuseum.
The museum is one of those places that everybody visits, maybe that’s why the only sensible time of day to visit is first thing in the morning, because as the day goes on the huge building nonetheless fills up and one is more likely to see the back of someone’s head than they are any actual pictures. Looking down at one of the printed maps in the pearly white entrance hall, it’s easy enough to believe you have something possibly manageable within an hour or two on your hands. But as we began to make our way around the circuit of the second-floor gallery, containing the great Dutch artworks and relics of the seventeenth century alone, we were quickly overwhelmed by the magnitude of the collection and its depth—every room, every object deserved at least its own half-hour, time we could afford only a fraction of under the pressure of our schedule and the drag of gallery fatigue.
In the seventeenth-century galleries, I loved the memento mori still lifes best. There were many of these paintings interspersed between piles of ripe fruit and unwilted flowers. Pictures of skulls and candles burning low—not incidental arrangements the artist could have the air of simply stumbling upon and capturing the light and colour of, rather an articulate message: remember you must die. Mum said she was most amazed by the Dutch masters’ manipulation of sun and fire, sources of light that bathed their subjects in a kind of animated realism. She was right when she suggested that only by looking at the art in person can it really be perceived and felt. I might’ve seen a bit too much of it on my previous visit to be as astounded as a person ought to be. But I was still captivated by the inky black seas upon which the people and objects floated, illuminated like they’d been brushed by the fingertips of King Midas but with a warmth beyond any piece of solid gold.
Tumblr media
On the same floor was the Gallery of Honour, a great hall of alcoves containing the works of Rembrandt, Vermeer, many others. At one end we saw the progress made in restoring Rembrandt’s The Night Watch. This was a curious change from the time I first visited and named my journal after the painting’s Dutch moniker of De Natchwatch. Back then the museum was still in the process of researching and preparing for the monumental project of laying hands on such a significant work of art, now a completely new structure encased its canvas. After seeing so much the same on my return, this difference struck me as the morbid still lifes did—time moving forward, implacable.
Tumblr media
We didn’t have much more time to explore the museum after that, as Camilla had made a booking for brunch at a nearby cafe for us to meet again with her and Rob and little Oscar. The best we could manage was a quick diversion into the nineteenth-century rooms on the floor below; more than the Van Goghs or the great Waterloo gallery I was glad to see again my favourite painting from when I visited before. Breitner’s The Singel Bridge at the Paleisstraat in Amsterdam was a familiar moment in time, captured and repeated. I hadn’t remembered it too particularly or where it was in the museum. Coming across it again, I was taken back to my old journal entries and the person I was then.
Tumblr media
Leaving the Rijksmuseum behind, we walked about fifteen minutes up the street to the cafe, a Melbourne-like place where we sat for a happy hour or two with Camilla and Rob while Oscar waddled around the table legs and ate toddler-torn chunks of the house pita bread. On the way we crossed the bridge over Vondelpark, sunk beneath a layer of frost and less frequented by picnic-goers and cyclists than it was in my distant summer memory. My dish at the cafe, also ordered by Mum, was a tasty arrangement of halloumi and roast pumpkin and black beans, the sort of food we most love. The coffee order for the table comprised three flat whites for the adults, a fresh mint tea, and a babycino. At the end of the meal we watched Camilla and Rob ride off on their bikes with Oscar firmly strapped aboard—I was very sorry to see them go, but touched they made so much time to see us more than once during our brief stay in Amsterdam. Their kindness to me has been very great and I owe them.
I have been battling on very persistently so far this trip, but this was the moment at which it seemed to catch up with me. Though it was only early afternoon we returned to the hotel and it was there that I passed out into a state of atypical slumber—I never sleep during the day, this time I did, and I woke up to several unread text messages from Mum and a hazy disorientation. I turned on the little hotel room television to ground myself and switched to the final of the world cup, where France was playing Argentina. It was a good game, I think, though I don’t know much of the sport. Down in the restaurant-lounge on the ground floor where I went to meet Mum for a drink, the staff were subtly watching along on a screen behind the reception counter and ripples went across the room each time a penalty shoot resulted in a goal.
For dinner we walked to the very edge of central Amsterdam’s western islands, to a tiny collection of residential streets surrounded by canal. The restaurant I’d found was a small and quite new place called Barentz Restaurant and Bar, tucked away up there in the far reaches. Not many Amsterdamers were out tonight night in the cold—only two or three other tables were occupied this evening. The food here, prepared personally by the restaurant’s two owner-chefs and delivered by a charming waiter-barman, was delicious and comforting. The starter of roasted leek with miso was especially good, but my main dish, the meat of the day, was so incredibly tasty I feel that is what will linger in my memory most. Tender pink slices of bavette steak, dripping in rich umami sauce and served with mushroom and wilted greens, salty and rich but refined. Alongside a spoonful of crisp radicchio leaves and a sip of espresso martini and light wine, it was perfect. Mum’s dishes centered melting pumpkin ravioli and polenta, while for dessert we enjoyed a delicate chocolate cake with butterscotch and a serving of sweet, tangy curd with candied carrot.
Tumblr media
On our way out the door after this wonderful dinner, the sweet young man running the front of house warned us to be careful out there with the frost and ice; we’d walked there from the hotel only two or three hours ago, so perhaps we thought we didn’t have too much to worry about. We were proven instantly wrong in this. A shocking amount of slippery sleet and frozen canal water now covered the pavements and roads. We were laughing as we tried to walk towards home but only succeeded at ice skating—or falling in Mum’s case, not very hard but still decidedly onto the cobblestones in the middle of the silent street. I gave up attempting to lift my feet off the ground and began to shuffle instead, scraping the soles of my battered canvas sneakers forward one after the other. It was good fun and highly unsustainable. We were not going to make it the distance back to the hotel any time soon.
Luckily for us, an internet connection makes these things much easier. I found that there was a bus stop on the nearest main road where we could get a bus to Centraal Station and then a tram to the stop just around the corner from our hotel. The bus was pretty crowded, clearly the ice-rink streets were not a popular place for anyone to be strolling about tonight. With gratitude and admiration towards our bus driver braving the slippery roads to bring us to safety, we got off in the centre of town and soon made it to our beds unharmed. Today had been a little fraught around the edges for me, with fatigue and a feeling of clutter, but it ended so happily. My last night in Amsterdam for a length of time I wouldn’t be able to predict—of course bittersweet, but the bitterness subdued by the taste of moreish hot food and laughter at the callous jests of nature as we skated along, clutching at railings and parked cars for support.

he’s so vogue
Tumblr media
Description - you are the journalist for the new Harry Styles December Vogue Issue
A/N - how is everyone doing? hope you enjoy! if you have any requests please feel free to ask. love you all and have a lovely rest of the week!
warnings: swearing
[masterlist]
Tumblr media
Being a journalist for Vogue was probably the biggest flex you could ever make.
After 3 years of studying English Literature at Surrey University, you never thought, only a year after, you'd be working as an apprentice at Vogue UK. If it weren't for your Aunty, who worked in the fashion design section at Vogue HQ, then you'd no doubt still be a broke-ass, single, lonely student. Ok, lonely you still were but your job was so full-on that you didn't have time for a relationship.
Two years into your apprenticeship you were promoted to an official member of the team, and then another two years later you got promoted to team leader in your department of journalism, and editing; The Media - or as you like to call it - "The Celeb Goss". You were beyond happy with your job and found such passion in every article your wrote. Whether it be about a new celebrity romance or the collapse of one, you found a way to story-tell in such a meditated way that everyone loved your pieces.
That's why the Harry Styles had requested you to be the one to interview him.
Of course you'd written about A-list celebrities in the past, producing articles on pregnancy rumours, or engagements, or breakups, but you'd never met them before authoring an article. You'd met plenty of D-list celebrities who thought they were mega famous, but if you mentioned their names people would turn around and ask "who?".
This is why interviewing Harry Styles was a massive thing for you.
Not very often did you get to do work out in the field, especially in these covid infested days, but nevertheless it was your favourite part of the job. Getting to meet the people you were writing about was completely refreshing, allowing you to obtain a clearer outlook on which direction to take on your journal piece.
You were asked to go to Stonehenge, where the photoshoot was being filmed, as your office of interview. Even though you'd lived in the UK all your life, you'd never actually been to Stonehenge. It wasn't really on your bucket-list, but it was a pleasure to get to see it all the same.
Being the prepared interviewer you were, you'd prepared an array of questions that you were set on asking Harry. You'd never met him before, but after much googling and youtubing of him prior to meeting him today you would already be confident in saying he's the most brilliant man to ever exist. You were really nervous that you were going to screw this interview up and make a terrible mess in front of Harry Styles.
"Lisa! What if I accidentally say something I shouldn't?" You ran your stressed hands through your hair.
This whole morning had been frantic. It had started off by you waking up late, no thanks to Lisa, your best-friend and co-worker, pressing snooze on the alarm. You wanted to look professional today so you'd put on your best shirt - only to spill coffee down it ten minutes later. So now, you smelt of coffee and were wearing what was left in your wardrobe - and it wasn't much. The only things left clean were a pair of pink corduroy flares and some, pastel coloured, graphic t-shirt to go with it.
"You won't. Stop being so negative." Lisa rolled her eyes, probably fed up with the amount of winging she'd heard from you this morning - and you'd only been awake an hour.
"My outfit is hardly professional either." You huffed, pouring the rest of your, second, coffee down the drain.
"Well I think you look gorgeous." Lisa stated, whilst putting her breakfast bar wrapper in the bin.
You and Lisa were back and forth about you stressing, and such, for about half an hour before you had to leave. You had a great panic about losing your glasses too. You could see without them up close, but for long distance viewing and reading you were practically blind. You were taking Lisa's car, since she didn't think you were emotionally stable enough to drive. Lisa was the creative director on the set, and thank goodness she was so you could at least ramble to someone.
After a two hour drive up from London, you arrived at Stonehenge and it was freezing. Although the sun was out, it did nothing to keep your body heated. The journey up had been nice because you sat in your nicely heated car, chatting away with Lisa and blasting some Harry Styles out of the speaker. You'd made it through the first album, and the second one up to Canyon Moon before reaching your destination.
Upon arriving you could just about, without glasses, make out about 15 other cars, arranged at the bottom of a hill. There was an array of Audis and BMWs, a few Range Rovers, which you placed your bets on one was Harrys, and a green, vintage, Jaguar which was most likely belonging to the fashion editor or something. There was also a modern barn, perched at the foot of the hill, which was where Harry would be getting changed in to his various different outfits.
It took you a moment to register that Lisa had parked and was already clambering out of the car, making you look a little idiotic still blankly staring at the beautiful scenes in front, and around, of you.
But it was still bloody freezing.
You jogged a little to the boot and whipped out your white cardigan. Originally you'd thought that this would've been enough to keep you warm, but now you were starting to think otherwise.
The atmosphere here was amazing. People were rushing around left, right and centre loading, and unloading, various pieces of equipment and clothes. You caught sight of brightly coloured fabrics being carried to and from various places. There were the camera crew, and presumably director, all chatting amongst themselves. The smell of the very fresh air was so lush that you'd forgotten what it smelt like - especially after years in London.
You grabbed your bag from the boot, which had your notes, recording kit and laptop stuffed inside, before locking the car and following Lisa in to the barn.
It was lovely and warm inside - a completely different climate to than the outside. It was as if it was Bali inside and Antarctica outside. Better Bali than Antarctica though.
"Ok. Let's put our stuff down over here and then go find people we need to meet and such." Lisa instructed, you still too in awe of the place to fully comprehend what was going on.
You followed Lisa and you two ended up dropping off your stuff next to some other bags. You took a liking to the purse next to your stuff. Next to your bag, it made yours seem ancient - like it was worth nothing more than a penny. It was luscious and a beautiful baby blue colour. You softly ran your hands over it, finding satisfaction in how smooth and subtle it was.
"Hope you're not planning on stealing that, love." A manly voice appeared from behind you. You whipped around to see who's bag you'd been messing with, and it was just your luck that it was to be Harry Styles'. Of all the people's it could've been it had to be his.
Perfect.
He looked dashing. He was in black flares and his iconic 'But daddy i love him', t-shirt, along with a huge green anorak. His hair was prettily clipped back with a pink clip, presumably placed there to gave his curls greater volume. In his hand he had a pink toothbrush and you guessed he'd come back over to put it away in his bag - only to find you caressing it instead.
"Oh - no, no. Not at all. I - uh - I just thought it was beautiful." You stammered over your words, choosing them carefully to try and make you look less like an active criminal.
"Mhm." Harry nodded whilst looking you up and down, most likely judging why a peasant like you, in comparison to him, was touching his expensive property. "Well, I love your flares darlin'." Harry looked down at your trousers, his compliment making you blush a little.
"Thank you. That wasn't professional, and neither is my outfit, I know, and I apologise." You added, because you knew that if your boss knew you turned up today the way you did she would give you a right bollocking - and potentially even fire you.
"Never apologise for flares. You look amazing." Gemma perked up, making you feel more self conscious surrounded by all these other beautiful women. Gemma was in a slouchy, knitted, jumper and basic jeans - no doubt all from shops beyond your budget - and yet she looked like a model fit for the runway for Vogue.
"Okay, sorry." You apologised again, to which you, creepily, got the exact same, stern, look from the Styles siblings at the same time.
"My stylist, Harry, introduced me to big pants. He offered whether I wanted to try a pair of flares, and I was like, 'Flares? That's fucking crazy'!" Harry laughed as he told his story, earning a laugh out of you too. "Now they're my favourite item of clothing. Have a whole wardrobe dedicated to them."
"I wish he was joking." Gemma laughed at her brother and his flare obsession.
"Well you do look handsome in them, so I understand why." Your words rolls off your tongue before you could even comprehend what you were saying. Only after you finished your sentence did you completely intake what you'd just said.
"Good start." Lisa giggled to you, before turning to walk over to the coffee station. It was a help-yourself coffee bar and you knew that you were going to bed at least five cups to get over the last five minutes alone. You'd probably drain the station before letting anyone else have any.
"Oh god." You awkwardly mumbled, not daring to see how weirdly Harry would be looking at you, before walking off outside.
You had spent less than 10 minutes here and yet you'd never felt like a bigger clown. Joining the circus had never been so easy.
The outside wind hit you like a powerful leaf blower, and your hair blew around like crazy - most likely compiling into a birds nest on the top of your head.
Today was supposed to be the start of something great. Your hopes were set on a promotion from your written masterpiece, whilst enjoying the company of one of the most handsome, most lovely, most talented men of this century. Those hopes seemed a little too distant now. They seemed to mock you, as if to laugh at how you ever thought you were going to be any more successful. You'd completely, in more ways than one, made a fool of yourself in front of your interviewee, you were so underdressed, you were caught fondling his Gucci purse and you were still bloody cold.
It all felt too unprofessional for a job where professional was practically the driving force of the company.
You leaned against the barn, taking a deep breath to try and calm yourself. You were a master in over-thinking, but unfortunately that wasn't something you could add to your resumé. You let your eyes close and the other senses come alive for a few moments. The sounds of distant sheep and the smell of the cold wind were just two of the senses that allowed you to take a step back for a minute, and breathe.
"Thank you." A voice interrupted you from your attempt of quick meditation. You looked to your left and noticed Harry standing there, still in the same outfit as before.
"I'm sorry?" You asked confused, taking a step away from the barn to considerately pay more attention to him.
"Thank you - for saying I look handsome in flares." He repeated, smirking when he added the second part.
"Oh." Was all you could respond, feeling too embarrassed to take the conversation any further. "I should—" You pointed back to the barn, using it as an excuse to leave before yet screwed up anymore.
"Lisa told me you're the interviewer." Harry added, and it only occurred to you that you'd never actually introduced yourself. "So it's lovely to finally meet you Y/N." He stuck out his hand for your to shake, which you did willingly. His hands were a lot softer than you'd expected.
"Ho... You know my name?" You asked surprised.
"Of course. I also know you're the best writer in Vogue right now." He flattered you, which made you blush. You had a feeling he'd make you do that a lot today.
"Sure." You rolled your eyes as you spoke sarcastically.
"Well I chose you for a reason, didn't I?" He rhetorically asked.
"I mean.. I, well.. I don't know?" You stumbled over your words, making yourself look like a larger fool than you did already. Today was just turning out to be exactly what you didn't want it to be. "Sorry."
"Stop apologising. You do it too often." He told you, nearly making you apologise again but he gave you a jokingly stern look, as if he knew what you were going to say, and so you decided otherwise.
"Harry!" You both turned to see there was a man waving towards you both, but specifically to Harry. "Come get changed!" The same man shouted. Harry lifted his thumbs up, as if to signal he'd be there shortly.
Harry turned back to you and noticed you shiver a little.
"I'll start the interview after I come back from the dressing rooms, yeah?" Harry asked, taking off his, khaki green, trench-coat in the process. He handed it to you before you could oblige against it.
"Wait what?" You confusedly looked down at the coat and back up to Harry.
"Gives me a piece of mind knowing my interviewer isn't going to die of hypothermia before actually interviewing me." He smiled, obviously attempting to crack a joke and you have to admit you did laugh.
"Thank you." You say, before he runs off to where he's being called to.
                                                            ••••
You'd been sat inside for a little while, waiting for Harry to come back. It gave you time to perfect your questions though.
Thinking up questions to ask Harry had been a challenging task, but one that you'd been fully invested in. You loved creating questions to ask him that were going to get to understand him on a deeper level. He was a very private man, and you completely respected that. If you crossed any boundaries, with the questions you'd ask, you would write them out of the interview. You liked to think you hadn't thought up a question that would make him feel uncomfortable though.
Pissing off Harry would be on another level of shame.
"Coat kept you warm?" Harrys voice disengaged you from your notebook.
"Hm?" You asked then replayed what he'd just asked in your mind. "Oh, yes. Thank you very much." You stood up, from where you'd been perched on the floor, picking up your nearly finished green tea as you did so.
Only when you stood up did it come to your realisation that Harry was now in costume. He was dressed in luxury. Each item looked like it cost more than your rent, and that was saddening. He looked rich and luxurious. To be quite honest, you were finding it rather difficult to take your eyes off him.
"You think the outfit is Vogue enough?" Harry asked, striking a few poses, which made you laugh. It was refreshing to see him act so relaxed and carefree, rather than a stuck-up-prick you knew some celebrities to be.
"Completely. I love it!" You exclaimed, appreciating the twirl he did for you.
He was wearing a kilt-like skirt and he looked beyond beautiful in it. Fuck toxic masculinity. Fuck being a manly man - like what does that even mean? Harry was embracing gender fluidity and experimenting the ways in which there was no definitive line between men and women's clothes anymore, and you thought it was marvellous. Revolutionary, for times as politically and socially troubled as these.
You started removing the coat in attempt to give it back to him, but he refrained you from doing so by holding on to your forearm.
"Keep it. I thought we could go outside to start the interview, so you'll be needing that." Harry told you, and you agreed - however reluctantly that was. You couldn't really complain though, because the coat did kept you warm and, what's better, it smelt divine - just like you'd imagine Harry to smell.
"Okay. Thank you. Do you want to go now?" You asked hesitantly, not knowing whether he was busy for someone else right now.
"Whenever you're ready, love." He answered, making you feel more relaxed. He was going at your pace and was making you feel settled - he was even more of a gentleman than people described him to be.
The two of you had walked around the backside of the barn in silence, enjoying the comfort of each other's presence. Well, at least you were. It was a blessing no one was back here. It was just you, Harry and the scenery that surrounded Stonehenge.
You approached a bench and you plopped yourself down on one end, whilst Harry sat on the other. He respected the fact that there was a pandemic going on, and didn't want to make you uncomfortable in any way. You still had your mask on, so Harry had taken that as you were very conscious about the virus - which he admired.
You pulled out your glasses, from the depths of one of the coat pockets, and placed them on your face, probably making yourself look even geekier than you already felt. Today was just one of those days you wished you had good eyes...
You opened your spent notebook, musty pages practically falling apart, and turned to the section of questions you needed for that interview. You were so nervous already and you hadn't even asked anything yet, all because of the previous interactions with Harry today. Your shaky hands shuffled through the pages and you cursed under your breath when you struggled to find what you needed.
"Shoot. Come on." You mumbled quietly under your breath, hoping it would make this terrible situation end faster. You mustn't have been as quiet as you thought though.
"Y/N." Harry's name broke through your clouded mind of self-disappointment.
You looked up at him to see him softly smiling at you, blowing all worries away from you away with the wind. "Yes?" You timidly asked, pushing your wind-swept hair out of glasses - where it'd gotten caught.
"You’re alright, love. You don't have to be professional around me, alright? We're just two strangers having a conversation, to get to know each other, okay?" If his words didn't calm you enough, the soothing sound of his husky voice certainly did.
"But that would mean you asking me stuff too?" You replied, confused at his implications of the phrasing 'getting to know each other'.
"Mhm." Harry nodded his head.
"Oh I don't know Mr Styles, i'm not a very interesting person." You answered as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, pushing your glasses back up the bridge of your nose from where they'd fallen.
"I refuse to believe that." Harry chuckled, making a quick smile appear on your face. "And please call me Harry. Just Harry." He begged, obviously finding it weird you calling him by his professional title. All you wanted, ever, was for your interviewee's to feel comfortable and safe, so if Harry wanted you to call him Harry then so be it.
"Ok, Harry," you sarcastically said, earning a shake of the head on his behalf, "you can ask me a few questions throughout the day." You told him, but you knew he'd struggle to find even two questions when he realises how bland you are.
"Does that mean you only get to ask me a few as well?" Harry smirked, already knowing the answer to that question. Unlike Harry, you had to write an article about today when you got home and so he knew that you'd have to dig as much dirt as possible from him.
"No, sorry. I don't particularly want to lose my job." You paused to look down at your notes, squinting a little as you did to see better. "Okay. Tell me your experience with corona virus."
"Sorry I didn't quite catch that, love." Harry apologised, leaning in slightly to see if he could hear you a second time around.
"Sorry." You looked down to fiddle with your fingers - a habit you'd undertaken when you're embarrassed. "Um..," you cleared your throat, "would you mind if I took off my mask?"
Your timid voice sent tingle down Harrys spine. He didn't think anyone could ever be this sweet. "Not at all, ‘course you can." He replied, again, wanting to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
You hesitantly took off your face mask, feeling like you were in some dramatic movie where they face revealed someone. You kind of liked having the mask on, because, for one, it kept you warm, and for two, you were a little self conscious with how you looked compared to all the other women here today. You shoved the mask in your pocket, with trembling fingers, before looking back down to your notes.
"Woah." You heard Harrys voice being mumbled under the wind. You eyes shot up to his and you noticed him staring right back at you.
"W-what? Is my acne playing up? I knew I should've—" You self-consciously run your hands over the areas you know you got acne. The masks really didn't help when it came to skin care.
"Hey, stop. No. You just... You look beautiful." Harry complimented you, and a roaring blush arose on to your cheeks. You'd never been called beautiful before, and so you were taking the compliment like such a 13-year old.
"Oh, uh, thank you." You awkwardly answered, not really having any other words come to mind in that moment. Harry chuckled under his breath, still keeping eyes on you for some reason.
"Would you mind repeating your last question, I didn't quite catch it?" Harry asked politely.
"Sure. Um, tell me how you've experienced corona virus." You repeated for him, gripping ahold of your pen to start copying what he says and pressing start on your recording device in case you needed it later.
"Well, it's been tedious that's for sure. However, I just want people to be safe and for life to return back to normal, so therefore i've been very MIA for a lot of the time. Keeping to myself mostly. I only went out for hikes or bike rides. All my meetings were online, so it's been very lonely." Harry kept eye contact with your figure the entire time, and if it weren't for you concentrating on writing what he was saying then you'd probably melt away under his gaze.
For such soft eyes he sure was intimidating.
"I presume the loneliness sent you crazy at times." You laughed, because you sure felt that way through lockdown. Curse being single.
"You have no idea." Harry laughed along with you, making you, slowly, feel more at ease.
"Actually, you'd be surprised." You looked at him unsure, before returning down to your notebook.
"Okay then, first question from me," Harrys words made your head shoot up, "How can someone as amazing as yourself be lonely?" He asked and you made a mental tally of how many questions he'd asked.
"Could ask you the very same question, Harry." You slyly replied, avoiding the question by answering with another question. It was a tactic you'd learnt, throughout your years of journalism, when you wanted to dismiss something .
"That's cheating." Harry pointed at you and raised his eyebrows, but you couldn't take your eyes off the big, cheeky, smile perched on his face. You shrugged you're shoulders in defence and returned to your questions. "But you did just call me amazing, so I think i'll let it slide this one time." You blushed, again, when you understood what he meant.
He was amazing though - that was the truth.
"You were in L.A. for the majority of quarantine, am I right to say?" You already knew the answer but your manager had just wanted confirmation.
"Yeah, but L.A. feels like holiday, whereas London feels like home." He answered, which you appreciated. He hasn't got lost in the way that Hollywood could let people. He'd stayed grounded.
"So what did you entertain yourself with during quarantine?" You asked curiously, slightly side-tracking from your pre-written questions - just because you were intrigued (nosey).
"Not much, not to be boring. I ate a lot of bread. I worked out pretty much every day. I wrote quite a bit actually." He used his fingers to pinch his bottom lip, something you'd noticed he did in interviews.
"Does that mean a new album on the way?" Your inner fangirl was screaming at the thought of HS3.
"Can neither confirm nor deny." Harry smirked to himself, like the cheeky bugger he is.
"That's a yes then." You joked, pretending to write it down in your notes.
"You're impossible, you." Harry laughed and shook his head. It made you feel all funny the way you could make him smile like that. You were the source of his happiness for just that moment, and that was enough to make you feel happy for a lifetime - not that he felt the same.
"Next question," you stated, moving swiftly on because you knew you had limited time, "How's your experience with Vogue been so far?"
"Wonderful. Everyone has been so welcoming and that makes it so much easier for me to have fun. It's daunting going at things alone, but i'm getting slowly used to it now." Harry sniffled a little, probably due to the freezing cold weather here.
"Must be strange, not having four best friends around you, all the time, anymore." You stated rather than asked him, sure that he was missing his bandmates. I mean, you were - so he definitely would be.
"Brothers." Harry replied, making you look up at him confused.
"I'm sorry?" You asked, giving him your full attention.
"You said four best friends. Well, actually they're my brothers." His words actually caused a rift in your heart. You could feel it being pulled apart and torn in to two. If you wrote this in to the magazine the fans would have a worldwide passing-away-party.
"Harry." You said softly, slightly tearing up at his words. "God, I swear i'm not normally this emotional." You chest your throat and try to establish your dignity - however there wasn't that much left anymore.
"Oh shut up." Harry looked away obviously trying to hide the fact that he was tearing up too. You laughed at him but didn't draw any more attention to it than you guessed he would've wanted.
"They mean a lot to you then?" You asked, hopefully not treading on any unwanted territories.
"Much more than a lot, yeah." Harry nodded his head, turning it back to face you. He could tell this conversation was now off-the-record because of your closed notebook, your undivided attention towards him and the fact you’d turned off the recording device. He liked being able to look at you, rather than the top of your head. He swore you were the prettiest girl he'd ever seen.
"You still see them often?"
"Not as often as i'd like. Niall did come around the other week to drop off some old guitars he didn't want anymore, and then we ended up playing around with some music for a bit." He admitted, which stitched your heart back together.
"So does that mean a Narry collab?" You teased, biting your bottom lip in anticipation.
"Narry? You so are a directioner." He laughed along with you.
"And you just avoided my question, therefore there is a song out there written only by you and Niall." You concluded, which shut him up.
This conversation was going a lot better than expected. Certainly a lot better than earlier. You will be permanently scarred by the way you spoke to him and handled his belongings. It was going to haunt you forever - and yet he'd forget about it by tomorrow. Or maybe he wouldn't, which is why you felt the need to apologise.
"Harry?" You asked, clearly indicating this was still a conversation away from the interview.
"Yes Y/N?" He watched you intently, listening to your every word.
"I, um, just wanted to apologise for my behaviour earlier. I was just really nervous to meet you, and to be honest still am. I didn't mean to touch your stuff without your consent and I certainly didn't mean to make you uncomfortable with any of my comments. So, i'm sorry. I can only imagine the awful, yet true, things you must think of me." You rambled really quickly, that you were uncertain whether Harry even caught one word of what you'd says.
"Do you know why I asked for you to interview me Y/N?" Harry asked, which wasn't the first thing you expected him to say after your apology.
"No. I...well Lisa told me it was because I can write well or something." You suggested, not wanting to sound egotistical.
"I mean you do write perfectly, but no." You were intrigued now. "I asked for you because I, and this is not for your magazine, have a secret - but not-so-secret - crush on you." This time it was Harrys turn to blush.
"Harry... you don't have to say that to—"
"I'm not saying it for anything. I sincerely think you are the most delightful, most prettiest, most fucking sweetest person i've ever met." Harry exclaimed, which you were taken aback by. Never, ever, did you think that Harry Styles would proclaim his likeness towards you. Ever.
"Harry don't mess with me, please." You shyly spoke, tilting your head down in disbelief that the Harry Styles was smitten about you.
He shuffled along the bench, stopping a little way from you but close enough to reach out for you. Your heartbeat increased when you noticed his hand move closer towards you. It didn't stop till he reached your face. He took his time, courteously, pushing your hair behind your ear before removing you of your glasses. He held the right-eye frame and slowly pulled the glasses off your face.
Once he'd successfully taken them off he folded them up and placed them alongside your closed notebook.
"Can see those pretty eyes now." He whispered quietly, but loud enough for you to hear.
"Don't lie. They're so dull." You mumbled, lifting your head up slightly. His face was still away from you.
"Not to me they're not." He retaliated, looking deep into your eyes as you did his. "I hate this corona virus."
"Why?" His words were so out of the blue sometimes, it gave you whiplash.
"Because I can't be as near to you as I want to be." Harry told you. And yeah, you hated corona too. It was getting a little laborious now.
"Smooth, Styles." You chuckled. You wondered how many new and weird pick-up lines could be made from covid.
"I know." He winked, which honestly would have made you throw up if it were any other man on the planet. Somehow, though, Harry just made it seem attractive - along with every other thing that man ever did. "After this, would you like to come back to my house for a cuppa tea?" He asked sweetly, like a five year old asking whether you wanted to play together.
"Okay. Lisa was my ride though." You said more to yourself than anything else, debating on how you'd even get to Harrys. Uber? Taxi? Lisa? Walk?
"I'll drive us, it's fine. I have to drop Gem off, but i'd be more than happy to chauffeur you." Harry kindly offered, to which you were internally screaming about. You were literally, and metaphorically, having a field-day with all this Harry content and interview.
"Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden." You question politely, not wanting to overstep any boundaries - especially in these covid infested times.
"Of course. I wouldn't have offered otherwise." He protested, waving his hand at if to say it was no bother. You were already trying to work out, in your head, how much petrol money you were going to owe him.
"Then i'd be honoured to have a brew with you Harry." You giggled at how cringe you were being, even if this was just your normal self speaking.
"Great." Harry genuinely smiled, teeth and all. "My shoot should take a couple of hours, but feel free to continue to write and journal. I'm looking forward to reading this particular article." He winked at you before standing up.
"Wonder why?" You sarcastically asked, knowing full-well it was due to his exposure of his own feelings towards you. Even though you'd never says anything back you were quite in agreement on how you felt about him, like he did you. He would be a narcissist to say he knew you liked him the same, out loud, but he knew. And you knew that he knew.
"Wonder why indeed." He gave you one last smile before he'd disappeared for the rest of the afternoon, leaving you to digest and relive the past half an hour or so.
Being Harry Styles' crush was probably the biggest flex you could ever make.
                                                          ••••
After Harry had finished up his shoot he was quick to come find you again.
You'd watched parts of his shoot and he looked magnificent. There wasn't a good enough word to describe how amazing he looked. Harry, his stylist, was probably the best stylist out there. His fashion choices were unmatched and you wanted him to be yours. You were not rich enough nor fashionable enough, ironic for working in a a fashion company, to hire a stylist, but you would if you could.
You were so proud to see what he was achieving now as the person that he was. Harry was just being Harry, without the devilish control of shitty managements or ridiculous amounts of PR stunts. Harry was more free than ever, and it definitely showed just how much he was enjoying it.
You were certain that this Vogue magazine would break the internet - his fans were good at doing that. This could be a turning point for many people, with their outdated and ignorant views. There was no room for people with racist or homophobic or transphobic or xenophobic - and the list does go on - views anymore.
You were waiting by the front door of the barn, to catch Harry as he walked past. You caught sight of him in a white robe, presumably to get changed back into his everyday clothes. He looked really pretty in the robe - very domestic actually.
Today had been a good day.
Harry asked you to send over the more specific Vogue questions to him via email, so he could devote more time in to answering them in a lot more depth. You thought he meant you'd be sending them to some PA in his team, but you were shocked to understand he'd given you his personal email.
People were walking back to their cars and packing away the filming kit. You saw Lisa and the director talking to one another, no doubt discussing some in-work gossip.
"You ready?" Harrys voice reminded you that you'd been waiting for him. You looked to see he was back in the same clothes as this morning, only this time without his coat.
"Here?" You offered, having him over the coat once again but he declined.
"Looks better on you anyways." He winked at you, before walking through the car park and to his car. You were very surprised when you found out Harry was the one to own the green Jaguar. You assumed all celebrities drove the Range Rover, but no. The vintage car added to Harrys immaculate vibe and just made him that little bit more hot.
Harry properly introduced you to Gemma, who was equally as lovely as Harry. They were both amazing people and they were crazily alike. From the way they looked, down to the way they phrased their words, they were mistakingly twins. Gemma explained how Anne, their mum, didn't know they were doing this photoshoot and that it was going to be a surprise, which you thought was so cute.
Gemma spilt a lot of gossip on Harry, to which he got very embarrassed over. You learnt that Harrys first word was Cat. You learnt that Harry is godfather to multiple children, which you found heartwarming. You learnt Harry used to be a baker - which was something he elaborated on for a good half an hour. Harry was just a fountain of memories and Gemma was the one sharing them all with you.
The drive back to London was relaxed. You sat in the back, listening to Harry and Gemma pointlessly argue whilst an Arctic Monkeys album played in the background. You forgot that people like Harry drove, and listened to music, just like other regular people. You often misplaced celebrities in society, thinking they had everything done for them but in reality that (often) wasn't the case - at least not for Harry.
Gemma was dropped off quickly before Harry drove to his. It was no surprise that the Styles siblings didn't live too far away from each other. Harrys house was beautiful. Bigger than anything you could ever dream of buying. It was a palace compared to your cupboard-sized house. You were unbelievably jealous. He gave you the tour of the house, showing you where the toilets were, and even his panic room if necessary.
You migrated to the kitchen for a bit, talking about anything and everything. Getting to know the minuscule pieces of information that no-one else was trusted with, made you feel special. Harry made you feel special - even if he weren't meaning to.
Every moment held a spark. Every touch set off a firework. Every laugh was an electric burst. He made you feel so alive.
"We can go to the living room after this has boiled." Harry said, pointing towards the streaming kettle. He wanted to show off his fancy tea collection he had, and let you have a try if you wanted to. Harry was boring and chose the basic green tea, but, after much deliberation, you chose the cranberry green tea. It intrigued you and it sounded delicious.
"Why the extensive tea collection?" Not even you, a certified caffeine addict, had this much tea in your house. Coffee was a different story and one in which you didn't want to talk about.
"They help me with my meditation." He took the teabags and placed them in his glass mugs. They had a delicate Gucci stamp on them, and you just imagined that they probably worth the same amount as your daily salary.
"You meditate?" You were slightly surprised that he did.
"I try to yeah." Harry nodded, focusing on pouring in the boiling water into the mugs. "I've got very tight hamstrings and so it helps if I meditate twice a day."
Harry finished making the tea, in the light-filled kitchen, before showing you around to the open-lounge area. Everything was modern and chic. It was exactly how you imagined it, but better. The open, red-brick, wall was a beautiful feature and one that you were a whore for! It reminded you of New York and the memories you'd made there one summer.
The sofa was a beautiful velvet, green, sofa. It was soft and gentle, a lot like Harry when you thought about it. The whole house was an architectural masterpiece and you'd be lying if you said you weren't jealous. You sat on one end and Harry went to go and sit on the other end.
"I don't bite you know?" You joked, self-consciously wondering whether he didn't want to be sat near you.
"I know, I just don't want to step on any of your covid boundaries - which is perfectly fine by the way." He added, apprehensively taking the spot next to you.
"No, not at all." You ushered him to sit next to you, as you took a sip from your steaming hot cup of fruity tea. "If I smell though, do tell me!"
"Yeah, you smell bloody awful!" Harry sarcastically remarked, but laughing afterwards to assure you he was joking. The atmosphere went quiet for a minute, only the sounds of passing cars and deep breaths being heard.
"Y/N can I ask you something?" Harry turned the tone of the conversation. It sounded like he wanted to be more serious than you two were being beforehand.
"Anything." You encouraged him to continue. You placed the cup of tea down on the table, deciding it was too hot to drink right now, and gave him your full attention.
"Do you believe in love at first sight?" Harry questioned. You didn't think you'd be having a conversation this intense - especially if you had different opinions - on your first day of knowing each other, but here you were.
"I believe you can love someone at first sight. I don't believe you can be in love with someone at first sight. Why?" You were curious as to how his brain had journeyed to this particular topic. You'd never really had this conversation with anyone before, mainly because you were unaware of the true power, and meaning, of love.
"It uh... It doesn't matter." Harry shook his head and you could tell by his body language that he was shutting you out. Maybe you'd made him uncomfortable.
"Sorry I didn't mean to—"
"No, no. Please don't apologise. It's just - I like you a lot more than you may think." Harry shyly told you, which made you all soft inside. He was being vulnerable and that was something you admired in a partner. You didn't just need love, affection and trust in a relationship. No. You needed vulnerability and heartbreak too, and Harry was revealing that part of him to you.
"I like you a lot more than you think too." You repeated, not because you felt bad for him but because you truly did like him a whole lot. Love was a weird yet wonderful thing, and if you were to hazard a guess you'd say you loved Harry.
You couldn't wait to be in love with him.
"Does that mean I get to crown you my girlfriend?" Harry excitedly asked. Harry happy was something that should be made a constant, and you were more than happy to be in control of that.
"At least take me out first." You bargained, wishing for nothing more than to go on a date with Harry. Where you'd go, you had no idea. Everything was closed right now and there was still the chance of becoming sick with corona, but no doubt Harry would think of something not only clever, but special.
Of course you'd love to be Harrys girlfriend. However, you wanted one more, official, opportunity to really get to know him - unprofessionally. You wanted to make sure that you knew, and he knew, that you wanted to be with him because he was the charming Harry you've come to love, not because he was Harry Styles.
"So you're allowing me to take you on a date?" Harry smirked like a little child, your heart fluttering at how excited he was to be able to treat you to dinner.
"Yes, Harry. Yes I am." You answered sweetly, offering him the cutest smile you could.
You can't believe what a turn of events today has been. You've gone from nearly writing yourself on Harrys enemy list to writing yourself on to his 'people he's dated' list. Who knows what the future would offer you. At the start of the day you had wished this whole day to end and for the ground to just swallow you up, now you never wanted it to end. It was too perfect to be true and yet it was.
Harry was the most wonderful human to exist and you were beyond surprised to be the one to catch his attention. You didn't understand why you were so special, but it was nice to feel like this for a change. It was nice to feel wanted.
                                                             ••••
A few months later and you were officially Harrys girlfriend.
It had been such a crazy few months. Harry religiously took you out on dates every week. Whether it be to grab a hotdog at a local diner, a coffee from a quaint cafe, a walk in Hyde Park or a late-night drive around London - which normally ended up with you falling asleep before you could make it back to yours. On sleepless jet-lagged nights he'll still drive through London's quiet streets, seeing neighborhoods in a new way, just as an excuse to spend time with you.
Harry often stayed over at yours. Even though you looked like you lived in a shoebox compared to Harry, he liked it. He liked the subtly and normality of it all. He wanted your life to remain as normal as possible and, apart from the occasional paparazzi incident, it did. You never had anything to complain about. Of course the online bullying created emotional wounds, at the start of your relationship, but it was nothing that Harry couldn't repair with a bit of love.
Lisa has nominated herself to be maid-of-honour when the day comes - if the day comes. Harry has already pinky sworn that you are it for him. The one, as some may say. You were utterly flattered, but you certainly unsure of what the future help for you both.
You loved Harry, you do love Harry and you will forever always love Harry.
It was ridiculous to think that all this stemmed from you working at Vogue. From you studying English Literature in a city away from London. From you dedicating you extra hours gaining work experience and money to be able get in and afford university. So many moments in life have you stopped and said 'i wish i hadn't have done that', but now you were convinced that they were the best things to have happened to you - because they lead you, all, to Harry.
And, being Harry Styles girlfriend was probably the biggest flex you could ever make.

What If? (H.JS)
Warnings : mention of divorce
Word Count : 1897
Synopsis : she had never seen jisung as anything more than just a friend. that is until her and jisung volunteered to do a couples photoshoot for their mutual friend. seeing the way he looked at her, the way they just seemed to match perfectly had her wondering, what if they were more than friends?
“He said my portfolio isn’t good enough. There isn’t enough variety.” Hyunjin whined as he plopped beside me on the couch. I could see the disappointment and exhaustion in his eyes when he looked at me. He had been working on his photography portfolio for months now, hoping to impress his professor.
“Did he give you any ideas to help expand your portfolio?” I asked, running my fingers through his hair. It’s always helped calm him down, or that’s what he told me.
“He wants me to try to do a couples photoshoot, since I do a lot of portrait shoots. But I don’t even know any couples!” I slowly began to massage his head as he moved to rest his head in my lap, his eyes closing as he did so.
“Y/N and I will do it.” Jisung offered from the kitchen. Hyunjin’s eyes shot open, meeting mine immediately.
“Is there something you two aren’t telling me?” He questioned, causing Jisung and I to burst into laughter.
“No, but we can act like it front of the camera.” Jisung chuckled as he sat in the chair beside the couch.
“Besides, most of the school thinks we’re dating anyway.” I joked. Ever since high school, people have thought Jisung and I were couple since we’ve always been so close. Jisung is quite introverted and nervous around a lot of people, and he’s told me before that I comfort him just by being beside him. Growing up, he always clung to me in one way or another, not that I ever minded.
“Yeah, when I met you two in high school, I could have sworn you two were a couple.” Hyunjin added, sitting up on the couch. “But you two would really do a couples photoshoot for me?” We exchanged looks before nodded.
“You’re our friend and this is important to you. Of course we’ll help.” I smiled.
The three of us set out to find some nice shooting locations the next day. It was the perfect day for a photoshoot; the sun shining high in the sky. Every once in a while, Hyunjin would stop us and we’d take some pictures. Jisung and I looked up some references so we knew how to pose and make it look more realistic.
There was a lot of longing stares and laughter at how ridiculous this felt. Hyunjin was completely focused as Jisung and I posed for him. This was his final project and was worth 50% of his grade, and I could tell it was stressing him out. We tried our best to look as in love as possible, trying to hold in our laughter until the picture was taken, but sometimes it was difficult.
“Stop looking at me like that.” Jisung chuckled, hiding his face behind his hands. I reached out, taking one of his hands in mine and continued looking longingly into his eyes. “Yah!” I watched as his cheeks became a rosy colour.
“Let me love you!” I yelled as he suddenly took off running. As I caught up to him, I jumped on his back, thinking it would tackle him to the ground, but I was surprised when he caught my legs in his hands and continued running with me on his back. “Yah Han Jisung!” I shrieked, begging him to drop me.
“Didn’t think this one through, did you princess?” I cringed at the cliché nickname, lightly hitting the top of his head in protest. “Yah! Don’t hit me!”
The three of us ended up at a cafe looking through the pictures Hyunjin took throughout the day, after he downloaded them to his laptop. Jisung would point at one he thought was really nice, asking to send them to him later. But I just stared, my heart suddenly picking up pace.
I stared at the pictures, seeing the wide smiles on both our faces. How perfectly our hands seemed to fit together. Hyunjin even took pictures of us when we were just being ourselves, running around the park with me on his back. You couldn’t tell the difference between the pictures where we were acting like a couple and when we were just hanging out.
In all the years I’ve known Jisung, I’ve never seen him as anything more than my best friend. But looking at these pictures is like looking into another reality where he’s my boyfriend, and I don’t mind it.
Han Jisung has always been the person I turn to when I have news to share, good or bad. Through all the hard times and fights, he stuck by me, promising me he’d never leave. He’s the person that knows me better than I know myself. He knows exactly what I need without me asking for it. It’s like he can read my mind.
There’s no denying that he’s handsome either. He has a smile that can light up a room. Whenever I’m having a bad day, his smile alone can brighten it, bringing a smile to my face as well. And he’s got the cutest cheeks that puff out when he shoves food in his face, much like a squirrel. It’s one of my favourite parts about him. Honestly, I love everything about him.
There’s no doubt in my mind that I accidentally fell for my best friend. I fell for him a long time ago, but I refused to admit it. But looking at these pictures, my heart can’t deny it anymore. I’m in love with Han Jisung.
“Hey, Y/N, you okay?” Jisung’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts. “Do you not like the pictures? Are we not a cute couple?” He joked, his famous smile dancing across his lips. I couldn’t help but smile back.
“We’re obviously the cutest! All the pictures are amazing, Jinnie.” Hyunjin smiled at us, the stress seeming to wash off him completely.
“Honestly, you two would make a really cute couple. Look at this picture.” He showed us a picture he took just a bit ago when we got to the café. Jisung and I were standing in line, waiting to order. As per usual, Jisung had his arm draped across my shoulders, and I was holding his hand that was hanging off my shoulder, our fingers laced together. We were staring at each other, wide smiles on our faces. We weren’t even posing, that’s just how we’ve always been. “You are the happiest with each other.” Hyunjin added, but Jisung and I were both silent, realization hitting us both.
“Wow.” Jisung breathed out, his eyes suddenly meeting mine. “I’m so handsome!” He exclaimed, a wide smile taking over his face. I let out a laugh, but I could feel my heart drop. It was obvious that I was the only one who fell.
I eventually excused myself with the excuse of a project due in a couple days that I needed to finish. I put my earbuds in and took the long way home, overthinking every little thing between Jisung and I over the years. When did my feelings change?
Was it the night my parents divorced and I couldn’t stop crying, wondering what went wrong? Jisung came over after I had called him and he heard I was crying. I told him not to, but he still showed up, drenched from the pouring rain, holding a bag of all my favourite snacks. He held me until my sobs faded and wiped away the drying tears.
Maybe it was when we were partnered for a project in high school and we were in my room, laughing about something completely unrelated to the project. We stayed up late into the night, until my dad came upstairs, offering Jisung the spare room to sleep in, saying he already called his parents. Jisung was awake before me, waking me up with breakfast in bed and a shy smile.
It could have been when I was stood up, and instead of just picking me up and allowing me to do the lonely walk of shame out of the fancy restaurant, he barged in, apologizing profusely for being late. I smiled when I saw him dressed in his best suit, his hair a mess from the obvious run he did to get there. He even paid despite the high price and his dwindling bank account.
Or it could have been a mix of everything. Maybe my feelings were never platonic. I always seemed to laugh louder and smile more when he’s around.
A short vibration from my phone pulled me from my thoughts. I opened the message from Hyunjin, seeing a couple pictures from today on my screen along with a short message. I don’t think you two are just friends.
The pictures were ones he didn’t show us at the café, or at least not when I was there. The first one seemed to be from when we were just wandering around looking for a location to shoot. I was looking somewhere off camera, probably looking around for a place to shoot. But Jisung’s eyes were on me. His hands were in his pockets while a soft smile danced across his lips. The way he looked at me was the way guys in movies look at their lover. Eyes full of love and longing.
The second picture was during one of the moments we were trying to act like a couple, but we couldn’t contain our laughter. His hands cupped my face, our eyes locked together in a sweet gaze. You could practically hear our laughter just by looking at the picture. And in both of our eyes was the same longing look Jisung gave me in the previous picture.
The final picture was another from us acting like a couple. I had closed my eyes just like the couple in the reference picture, thinking Jisung did too. Our foreheads were touching, his hands cupping my face once again, and my hands resting on his chest. But his eyes weren’t closed. They were open, looking at me with such love that I could feel the butterflies erupt in my stomach.
I stopped walking, just staring at the third picture, hope building up in my stomach. The lyrics of the song playing in my earbuds was background music to the sound of my heart pounding.
Just then, Jisung’s contact picture popped up on screen as he called me. He always knew when I needed him. He knew me better than I knew myself. I should have known I couldn’t keep these feelings a secret from him. He could read me as easily as you can read your favourite book.
“Turn around.” Was all he said before hanging up. Slowly, I listened to his directions, turning around, and seeing him standing just a few feet away. “You felt it too, didn’t you.” He said, neither one of us taking a step. Strangers just walked on by, not paying us any attention, as if they were extras in a drama we were starring in.
“Yeah.” Was all I could say, and a smile formed on his face. “I think I always have.” I added, surprised he could hear me with how soft my voice was. He finally walked towards me, closing the short distance between us before cupping my face.
“Me too.” He whispered before pressing his lips to mine in the first of many kisses we’d share.

Soulmate Series - Countdown
Characters | Bokuto x GN reader
Summary | Everyone is born with a countdown until they meet their soulmate. Your timer is coming to its end, will your soulmate be everything you hoped for?
Words | 1k
A/N | oh boy I love soulmate AUs so much and I also love our local himbo Bokuto
<<—>>—<<—>>
You didn’t obsess over your countdown like some people did. Never one to be constantly checking the little numbers on your wrist. Rather, you knew it was always counting down, so why not let it happen on its own time. And according to your timer, that would be sometime today.
You looked away before you could make the connection between many hours you had left, with when you would meet your soulmate. You only checked your timer right after you woke up each morning, that way, you would at least know if you wanted to wear something cute. To some this probably sounded stupid, why not use the time to plan what you’re gonna say, or where you’re gonna meet? Because then that wouldn’t be you, it would make you anxious and jittery, and way too organized.
You pulled your best shirt over your head, combing back your hair with your fingers. It was a good thing that today wasn’t a workday, you got to wear what you want to really show who you are and make a good first impression.
——
Bokuto got to practice late that day and didn’t stay for long. As soon as the doors opened he was yelling, “Today is the day! I’m gonna meet my soulmate!”
Hinata matched his energy tenfold, the two of them practically bouncing off the walls, practice long forgotten as the rest of the team watched.
“Bokuto! How long does your timer have left?” Hinata grabbed his arm as if he would be able to see.
“Hmm? I have- Oh shoot! I gotta get going, I have this whole thing planned on where I want to meet them and what I'm gonna say! I’ll see you guys later!” And with that he was gone, the team angrily calling after him for skipping practice.
——
You took your time to enjoy the day, visiting some of your favourite places; the food court at the mall, the little river with the ducks, you even stopped to buy yourself a nice hoodie that was on sale.
Truthfully, you were doing everything you could to keep your mind off your timer, trying your hardest not to glance at how many hours, or minutes, you had left. It would be a lie to say you weren’t curious about who they were, what they looked like. Are they tall or short? What colour is their hair? What do they do for a living?
You hadn’t noticed that you had walked outside, too deep in thought. Do they like cats or dogs?
You were in the park now, the voices of other people quieting your own. The weather was nice, light breeze, sunny with only a few fluffy clouds. You closed your eyes and kept walking, letting the warm sun wash over your face. It was peaceful, birds singing, kids laughing.
——
Bokuto was running through the town, dodging pedestrians, leaping over flower beds. He was on a mission; to get to the perfect place to meet his soulmate. He had it all planned out. He would be there waiting when they walked up, and he would introduce himself and lead them to this perfect little coffee shop where they would talk about themselves. Then when it was dark he would walk them home and give them a goodnight kiss. It was the perfect plan.
But everyone knows you can’t plan out what is already destined for you, right? That’s how Bokuto had found himself in this predicament. He was running late. How had this happened? He didn’t know. Bokuto thought he had planned the time perfectly, but then again, he was never good at maths.
Changing course, he cut through the park, it was a quicker path, but he always got distracted by something. And this time it was the playground. Or more specifically, the kids on the playground. He loved kids, and kids loved him. He started to think, would his soulmate ever want a kid? Does his soulmate even like kids? Would his soulmate like him?
Bokuto blanked out, too many ‘what ifs’ running through his head. One minute his feet were hitting the ground, then it was his face. In his haste, he tripped over his own feet landing face first in the dirt. It didn’t hurt, much, but he just laid there defeated. There was no way he would make it to his special place in time.
——
The peaceful atmosphere of the park was ruined when someone came running through like a madman. You watched the worried look on his face as he slowed for a second. Then it seemed to happen in slow motion; his foot got caught on the other, and he fell, face planting into the ground with a thud.
You ran over, extending your hand to help him stand, “Are you okay? That looked like it hurt.”
His eyes met yours and you felt it - a feeling of warmth and happiness and completeness. This was it, you didn’t need to look at your timer to know that it had stopped.
“So..” you started, drawing out the vowel, “You’re my soulmate?” It was a strange thing to say, and for a moment you thought about how stupid this would sound if this boy wasn’t your soulmate.
You watched the way his hair practically deflated, and how he pouted as he wiped the dirt off his face, “This isn’t how I wanted to meet at all. I had this whole thing planned! I was gonna look so cool!”
You couldn’t help but smile, trying to hide a laugh. “Oh? Well tell me what you had in mind, maybe we can still make it happen? I’m Y/N by the way.”
“Bokuto! That’s me, my name,” He stumbled over his words, eyes lighting up, “I was gonna take you to this cute little café! Come on!”
Bokuto gripped your hand in his, taking you through the park, a huge grin on his face as he talked about buying you ice cream later. There was never a reason for either of you to worry about timers, everything works out in the end.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Tumblr media
Y/N POV:
After last night, Yoongi had brought me to his own apartment in Seoul. He had had to go back into work as he had got a call from one of the other members of the group and he had to go back. So he told me the address and allowed me to stay there so we could talk.
It was strange, now being able to see the colour of everything. It felt like if I had to go back to seeing in black and white now, I would not be able to cope. Everything was so vibrant. There were infinite shades of blue, and red, and green, and purple, all of which had been different shades of grey for all of my life.
I had fallen asleep when I got to his apartment since it was so late. So I hadn’t seen the colours of the outside world; the colour of the sky, the sun, the clouds. I groaned as I pushed back the blankets, feeling the silk material of the main duvet slip and slide under my fingers. Of course Yoongi would have silk sheets. I giggled to myself as I swung my legs out of bed. I grabbed myself some new clothes and changed into them. But this time it was harder. I could see what colours clashed, and the thought of me walking around not knowing any better was now really embarrassing.
I flushed red as I picked out a white sweatshirt and a pair of jeans. It had just hit me - I was in Min Yoongi’s apartment. THE Min Yoongi. As in Suga of BTS. As in Agust D. I was in what was hopefully the guest bedroom. I gasped. What if I had slept in his bed? I quickly turned and made the bed before pulling open the curtains.
It was beautiful. The sky was a clear crystal blue. There were a few clouds, and the sun was a pale yellow because it was morning. It was common knowledge on what colour the sky and sun were. It was something constant and would not change.
I sighed to myself. I needed coffee. Hopefully he would have some. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind me helping myself. Or I could get a delivery, but I didn’t know the address. I turned around and surveyed the bedroom better. The walls were a very pale grey, and the bed was a darker shade. There were light coloured pillows on the bed as well as dark grey silk sheets. There were framed photographs of cityscapes on the walls, and a white wooden dresser was opposite the bed against the wall. There was a wall of mirrors, which is what I assumed was a wardrobe. I pushed it open and saw it was empty. Definitely the guest bedroom.
I pushed open the door and walked out of the room. I looked side to side trying to remember which way was the front door and which way was the kitchen. I remembered that the living room was by the front door but the kitchen and dining room I had not seen so assumed were past the bedroom I had found. I decided to turn left and found myself in a large kitchen complete with black marble worktops and a large island in the middle.
It was then my eyes fell on it. The coffee machine. Okay, now a coffee cup. Where did people normally keep their mugs and cups and glasses? I began opening some cupboards when I heard the front door open, making me freeze.
“Y/N, are you awake?” You heard Yoongi call out.
“Yeah, I’m in the kitchen!” I called back.
Yoongi POV:
I felt bad having to leave her, but Taehyung called me. He had woken up and panicked when I wasn’t there. So I hurried back after giving her the key and directions to my apartment, hoping that she wouldn’t get lost. I walked with her part of the way, anyway, since it was close to the company building.
Taehyung was sat at my desk, spinning around in my chair as he waited for me. “Where did you go?” He asked, his eyes slightly wet and swollen. “I thought you had left me.”
I took a deep breath. He was beautiful. His eyes were a beautiful shade of chocolate brown, and his hair was a curly light brown. His skin was a lovely tan colour.
“Yoongi hyung?” Taehyung was looking at me worried now. “What’s wrong? Did something happen? Was it a sasaeng?”
“No, nothing is wrong.” I replied. Now I had a choice, I either tell him that I met my soulmate, or I don’t tell him and keep it a secret. I decided to tell him - we were open to each other about everything, that way no one got upset over secrets that others had. “I think I met my soulmate, Tae.” I said, sitting down on the couch.
“What?” Taehyung stood up, looking surprised. “Are you sure? You either did or you didn’t.” He said.
“Well, I can see colours now, if that’s what you mean.” I replied.
“Really, you can?” Taehyung asked, straddling his lap. “What do I look like?”
“You look so beautiful, baby.” I said, resting my hands on his hips. “Such pretty eyes.” Taehyung blushed.
“So what are you going to do. What is she like?” He asked.
“Well, I can’t leave her. She was staying in the park when I found her, with all of her stuff. She’s clearly not in a good place right now, so I let her stay in my apartment. She is pretty, and from what I can tell, a very good dancer. She was dancing to Spring Day in the park.” I explained.
“You’re letting her stay in your apartment?” Taehyung looked a bit annoyed at this. I knew it was dangerous, but I trusted her, which was strange, considering I had only met her not even an hour ago.
“Yes?” I said, looking him in the eye. I was realising now he had a small mole on the end of his nose, as well as one by his lip. “I know it might be dangerous, but I do trust her, Tae.”
“Hyung, are you going to leave us?” Taehyung asked. I was silent. I didn’t know how to answer him as I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. His lips quivered and he nervously licked them. “Hyung?” His voice was smaller this time - sounding scared and unsure. “Please, no!” He begged, tears beginning to stream down his face when I still didn’t answer.
“Tae, I don’t know what I’m going to do.” I said, reaching out to stroke his hair to calm him down. He flinched away from me, getting off my lap. “Baby, please, this isn’t my fault!”
“Yeah, well, you could have just rejected her as your soulmate.” He spat, his arms folded across his chest. Rejecting your soulmate is something that you would never want to happen to you. It was painful, the cords between you and your soulmate being severed apparently felt like a white hot knife. You would never want to inflict that on anyone, at least, I knew I didn’t.
“Taehyung, that’s not fair! You know what that would be like for her!” I said, standing up. I was getting annoyed at him now. He knew what that would be like for her, and for him to purposely want to put someone through that... I wasn’t sure how I felt about that.
“Yeah, but do you know what it’s going to be like for all of us? For me?!” Taehyung shouted. “We are supposed to be your forever, not some girl you met on the streets! For all you know she could be a whore out to get your money!”
“Kim Taehyung, you stop that right now!” I shouted, hoping that using my dom voice would get him to calm down slightly. “We need to have a group meeting about this! It’s not something I can decide on my own!”
“Well here’s my input, reject her!” Taehyung grabbed his coat before storming out of the studio. I sighed and sat down, burying my head in my hands. What a mess. I pulled out my phone and sent a quick text to the groupchat, saying I needed to have an emergency meeting with them all ASAP. They all replied saying they were on their way. Taehyung said nothing.
I guess that could be expected from him. Taehyung and I were the ones who started the whole polyamorous relationship. We started dating, but then decided that we wanted more, so we asked the members about it. Taehyung was my baby. I didn’t want to lose him, but I also didn’t want to cause Y/N unnecessary pain. I could already tell she had been through so much pain in her life and I didn’t want to be the cause of another source.
I made my way to our practice room and waited for everyone to arrive. It was quiet since it was so early. It was strange being here by myself - I was usually locked away in my studio until they texted me saying we were having a rehearsal, so I never realised just how quiet it could get. Yes, there was still the security guards and the night shift girl at the front desk, but they kept to themselves.
The door opened, revealing the maknaes, besides Tae, and Hoseok. “Hyung!” Jimin ran towards me, hugging me tight. I smiled and hugged him back. Jimin always thought he was too fat and always wanted to diet, but I was against it. He wasn’t chubby, he was just muscular. I could feel all his muscles when I hugged him. I cupped his cheek as I kissed his lips, making him smile and rest his head on my shoulder. Jungkook also joined in the hug, accepting a kiss from me as well.
“What’s wrong, hyung?” Hoseok asked as he shut the door behind him. “Did something happen? Where’s Tae?” He walked over to me and hugged me. “You look sad, love.”
“I’ll tell you all when Namjoon and Jin get here. Taehyung already knows, which is why he’s not here.” I explained, making Hoseok hum and nod, rubbing my back. The door banged open as Namjoon stumbled through, tripping over his own two feet. I chuckled. Such Joon behaviour. Jin was behind him, a hand firmly secured on his upper arm preventing him from falling flat on his face.
“Hey clumsy.” I said, with a small smile, making Namjoon scowl at me, and Jin flash a fond smile at me. I looked at all my boyfriends gathered before me. They had never looked more beautiful. The different shades of their tan skin tones, combined with their different hair colours was stunning. Both Jimin and Hoseok had blonde hair - Jimin’s was a similar shade as mine while Hobi’s was slightly darker, Namjoon had slightly faded purple hair, while Jin and Jungkook had their natural hair colours, except Kookie had green tips to his hair.
“What are you staring at?” Jimin asked, a slight blush to his cheeks.
“I found my soulmate.” I revealed, making them all go silent and stare at me. “And I know I am sure because I can see colours now.”
“How?” Namjoon asked. I explained how I had met Y/N in the park, and how I think she is an ARMY, and now she was staying in my apartment.
“That explains why Taehyung was so upset.” Jin said softly. “Yoongi, what are you going to do?” He asked.
“I don’t know.” I said with a sigh. “I can’t reject her, but I don’t want to lose you all in the process.” I bit my lip as I looked around. Jimin was beginning to cry, and Jungkook just looked lost. Hoseok looked neutral, but Namjoon was angry. Jin was trying to calm him down. Namjoon was the one who got jealous most easily. Him and Taehyung were. “Joonie, speak to me.”
Namjoon looked at me in the eye. “I suggest you go and spend some time with your new soulmate and figure out everything. If you feel like coming back to us, then you can come back. But until then, just stay away. I don’t want anyone else to get hurt.”
My heart stopped. Did Namjoon just kick me out? In the middle of us preparing for our comeback? “Namjoon, that’s not fair!” I exclaimed, making him scoff.
“No, you know what’s not fair. You finding your soulmate and having the audacity to tell us that you’re not sure whether you want to be with her or us.” Namjoon shouted, making me flinch.
“Is that really how you feel?” I asked, looking at each of them in turn. When none of them answered, I nodded my head. “Okay, I’ll come get my stuff at some point this week, and I’ll be at the meet and greet on the weekend.” I grabbed my bag and left the room, making my way to my apartment.

Story of us
A/n: Angsty, post-Hogwarts and slightly r13 towards the end.
The history between Y/n and Draco was... complicated. There was something between them that their friends just couldn't understand. On paper there was no reason for them to dislike each other as much as they did, she was a pureblood Slytherin who grew up very similarly to him and also had to change her views like Draco did after the war.
They shared trauma and multiple parallel life experiences but they just didn't get along. Pansy and Daphne never got it, why Y/n had that look of disgust on her face once Draco finished talking.
Blaise and Theo thought it would get better after they left Hogwarts and didn't spend all their free time together, but still, Draco rolled his eyes whenever she walked into the room.
Now they were adults in the wide world, jobs, partners but the tightknit friend group stayed close. Friday nights were always time they spent together, reserved for clubbing or a pub night out or even sitting on Blaise and Pansy's living room floor.
Tonight it was the latter. With a G and T (her favourite muggle alcohol) in her hand, Y/n sat on their couch next to Pansy who had had a lot more than her to drink.
Just as the boys had taken out their hidden stash of weed, Y/n spoke up. "I'm going to go outside." It wasn't that she was opposed to weed, she just didn't like the smell and the boys always insisted on smoking so much they couldn't see out the windows.
Blaise and Pansy's apartment had a beautiful wrap-around balcony. While Y/n and Draco were both fair wealthier, they both received substantial graduation gifts that went a long way to getting an apartment in a good part of London.
They had been together since the last year of Hogwarts, all of their friends watching them slowly grow closer over the year until they realised they were in love.
It was beautiful and while 17-year-old Y/n envied them, she always wanted to speak at their wedding.
As soon as she opened the balcony door the still night air hit her. While it was colder than inside, the sweet smell of the summer air made it a nice contrast.
The sun was just setting in the distance and the sky was the most beautiful golden, pink colour. It was the time Y/n always liked to look out her window at during the war, knowing there was peacefulness at the end of the day always made the long days feel slightly better. The way the warm light danced over the water, dancing on the walls of the usually dark dormitory.
Standing out on the balcony, where the world was right and falling into place felt a lot better. Like nothing could get her down.
She was off in her own world, not noticing when Draco opened the sliding door and walked out next to her.
"Shit Draco!" She shrieked once he put his hand on her lower back. She ignored the tingling feeling in her stomach as she glared at him.
Draco stepped closer to her, maybe too close for her liking. "You could really do with some weed to chill out." He told her, holding the joint closer to her face. "This stuff is the shit, just fresh from my guy." He continued to tell her.
Maybe she would have been interested in Draco if he were less cocky, less rude and a bit more sensitive. Something in his bad-boy image had developed over the year that meant she liked him less.
"Do you always insist on speaking like a druggy?" Y/n asked him, watching him carefully as he looked over the railing with his joint.
He retaliated quickly. "Do you always insist on being such a tight ass, Miss Goody-two-shoes?" He couldn't understand why she always seemed to spoil their fun, ever since they were sorted into Slytherin.
She just rolled her eyes at him and stared out into the distance. While he was no longer disturbing her silence he was still disturbing her peace and alone time.
She didn't feel like arguing with him either, it was just too much effort. Draco stood there, smoking his joint while Y/n gazed at the skyline.
“Why are you even out here?” Y/n snapped at him, suddenly feeling annoyed by the smell of his smoking.
“Because I can be, what even is your problem with me?” He was definitely going to find out how she felt now, pushing her to the limits made her snappy.
She rolled her eyes at him, obviously annoyed. “We faced pretty much all of the same challenges in life, but you just became a failure and it really annoys me.”
“Well, you’re just a slut who hooked up with several guys at school, none of which liked you for any reason other than your body.” Draco’s words did hurt her quite a bit, it wasn’t like she didn’t know he hated her but hearing him say that the people she’d been intimate with never actually cared for her hurt.
“Fuck off, Draco.” She told him, carefully.
The look on his face showed her that he was not going to stop for a second. “Just because you don’t like the truth, bitch.”
“Just leave me alone.” She told him, turning away.
Draco couldn’t stop winding her up now, it just brought him too much amusement. “Or what, Y/l/n, will you sleep with me like you did every other guy?”
Y/n turned around and put her hand up to slap Draco’s cheek. It wasn’t as hard as she could have hit him but it was the hardest she ever hit anyone. There was a loud sound as her palm contacted his face.
Still stunned and with her hand in mid-air, Draco snatched her wrist. There they were standing in a face-off, Draco’s slim finger wrapped around her wrist and suddenly there was not one sound. Both of them staring into each other’s eyes. Although Y/n felt threatened, never one to back down from a challenge she scrutinized his eyes.
Draco was seeing red, his least favourite of all the colours. He was like a bull staring down where he was going to charge. The colour of hatred, blood, anger and passion.
The passion she felt for him, it was surging from where he was touching her. He was the energy source that filled her usually with range but now it was amour fou.
In a moment Draco released his grip on her hand and moved his hands to her cheeks. Unlike his prior roughness, his thumb stroked along her cheekbones softly and carefully like he was afraid to break her as he lay his fingers under her jawline.
His softness was a complete shock to Y/n who was still gazing into his eyes. The cold fingertips were more gentle than she’d ever expected, dancing across her jawline with such care. She wasn’t sure she’d ever experienced a touch this delicate.
There they stayed for a few moments, taking each other in. Both of their minds were on the other, brains frenzied trying to figure out how this had happened. Draco was sure he was infatuated with her perfume, obsessed over the perfect blend of coconut and vanilla that was all he could focus on.
Before either of them could think about the consequences their lips were pressed together in a heated kiss. The passion radiated off them, electricity circuiting through them. And it finally felt, for both of them, that every little puzzle piece fit.
Eventually they lips parted, their eyes flickering open. Draco was an inch from her face, not believing just how beautiful she was. He held his hands on her face tighter not wanting to let her slip out of his grip.
“Draco Malfoy, I am 100% in love with you.” Y/n slowly let out. She’d just kissed her arch-enemy so there was no point in not being truthful.
He smirked, that cute little smirk that had only ever annoyed her from across the common room. “Damn it, y/l/n!” He exclaimed with mock anger. “Now we’re going to tell our kids that mum said ‘I love you’ first.” It was odd for Y/n to see him like that as they were usually at each other’s throats. And now he was thinking about their very distant future.
She smiled to match his. “Just tell me it back, you dork.”
“I am 110% in love with you.” Draco counted. “Do you want to come back to my place?”
Y/n’s face turned to worry. “This isn’t a joke, is it?” Usually, this isn’t the type of shit he would pull but she’d never know.
“No, no, no.” His fingers were back stroking her cheeks. “I am really sorry about what I said, believe me, I’ll never say something like that again.”
Something in Y/n knew he wasn’t lying. There was no chance he didn’t feel the same passion he did in the kiss. “Well, you could take me to dinner before you try and get into my panties.”
Draco let out a light laugh, blowing air right onto her face. “Whoever said I wanted to do that, you flirt?”
“Don’t act like you don’t want to fuck me.” The chemistry between them was electric and hot. The pair looking into each other's eyes with desire.
“Let’s go before I do you right here.” Y/n looked at him with challenging eyebrows. “Do you need me to prove it?”
Y/n pulled back from his grip on her face, leaving Draco standing there like an idiot. “Hurry up then.” She said, looking back over her shoulder with a smile as she went to open the patio door.

A/N: you guys are incredible omg!! i’d love to reply to you all under each chapter but unfortunately this is not my main account but my messages are open so feel free to say hi!! i’m so happy you’re all enjoying the story so far, honestly lost for words!
-
It was a cold day. Cold enough to make your atoms shiver. Dark grey clouds covered every inch of the sky above, hiding the winter sun. The air was brisk. It was harsh against your skin as you got out of the car. And the unwelcoming breeze that followed made you wish that you hadn't forgotten your scarf.
“What a terrible miserable day.” You muttered while slamming your car door shut. You ambled your way around the hood as Spencer gently closed the passenger side door. You noticed immediately how he shivered slightly when the chilly air bushed against him. A sigh escaped your lips.
“Honestly Spencer, I can reschedule. I’m sure you would much rather spend this dull day reading in the comfort of your own apartment rather than driving around touring venues with me.”
“If you promise we stop for coffee before the next place, then I’m all good.” He replied, mouth twitching into an awkward half-smile.
You smiled back at him. “I’ll get you all the coffee you want doctor.”
“One is fine Y/N.” Spencer said, the smile on his face widening. “You know there are side effects to having too much caffeine. Anxiety, insomnia, and digestive issues to name a few.”
You couldn't help but roll your eyes. “I’ll repeat that back to you next time we’re working a case and you’re on your fifth cup of coffee in the space of three hours.”
Spencer chuckled lightly at your response. “I guess that’s fair.”
There was a brief moment of silence in which the two of you once again found yourselves simply looking into each others eyes. Blocking off the surroundings. Basking in the comforting warm presence of one another. Something that ever since your dinner date a couple of weeks ago happened more often than it probably should have.
The brunette doctor enjoyed these seconds. To him, they were pure bliss. To him, these moments of uninterrupted silence said more than either of you could ever say with words. Because truth be told Spencer was afraid to talk around you in case he ever said too much.
Which is why he only agreed to tag along today because Garcia was supposed to be here. As the maid of honour she volunteered to join you today since your fiancé couldn't make it. So when Spencer approached the car this morning, noticing immediately how the passenger seat was empty, he half wanted to turn back. He only stayed because of the promise he made your dad.
Although, he really was going to have to be careful not to slip up and reveal something he probably shouldn't.
After what seemed like eternity, you tilted your head and looked away. Palms of your hands sweating inside your jacket pockets. Heart beating fast. The cold air no longer a nuisance.
Unknown to the brunette doctor you also quite liked these silent moments. But unlike Spencer, you always felt incredibly guilty afterward. As if you were being dishonest and misleading somehow; rather your heart was.
With an inaudible sigh, you began making your way toward the entrance.
“Come on doctor, maybe they’ll have coffee here.” You called out after you, and shortly Spencer was by your side once again.
The venue was beautiful. You had only stepped in the door and already you were mesmerised. Even though the space was currently empty, you had no trouble at all visualising what you hoped it would look like on your big day. From the colour scheme, to the flowers, and the decorations.
“I am so glad you made it Y/N!” The wedding planner, Gina, appeared as you were basking in your surroundings. She hugged you briefly before turning her attention to Spencer. “And this must be the infamous Ethan.”
“Oh actually, no.” You cut in before Spencer could say anything. Gina glanced at you once again, one brow raised. “Ethan couldn't make it.” You advised with a timid smile. “This is Spencer.”
Gina nodded slowly. She looked at Spencer, and as she was eyeing him up you were hoping that she wouldn't recognise the name. See you have known Gina for some time now. You had initially reached out to her about a year and a half ago when you were hoping to marry the very young doctor stood beside you.
“Well, Spencer it’s nice to meet you.” She spoke, flashing him a pearly white smile. “I’m Gina, the wedding planner.”
“It’s nice to meet you too Gina.” Spencer responded, returning the smile. You could tell he was feeling slightly uncomfortable being mistaken by your fiancé, and you took a mental note to apologise for that in the car.
“Shall we get started?” Gina asked, turning her attention to you. “Lead the way.” You replied.
About an hour later the tour had concluded. You made plans to meet Gina at the next venue and after getting the exact address from her, you and Spencer ambled back to the car.
“What did you think?” You asked while hopping inside the vehicle.
“I liked it.” Spencer responded while fastening his seatbelt. You shot him a quick glance before securing your own strap. He smiled at you. “What?” “Just checking if you’re lying.” Spencer laughed at your response. “And am I?” You shook your head. “No. It appears you are telling the truth.”
You turned to look ahead before starting the engine. Soon the two of you were on the road.
“I think it’s more important if you liked it.” Spencer spoke. “I loved it.” “Why do I sense a but.” Spencer enquired with a soft laugh. You giggled. “But I don’t think Ethan would’ve liked it.” “Ah.”
“You can say it.” You retorted. “What?” Spencer asked. “That he’s not here so he shouldn’t get a say.” From the corner of his eye, Spencer noticed how your grip around the wheel tightened ever so slightly.
“I’d never say that.” He replied.
“Now that was a lie doctor.”
There was a brief moment of silence.
You sighed. “He promised me he’d be here. Just like he promised he wouldn't get called to work during our engagement party.” You stopped the car at a red light and glanced glanced at Spencer who was already looking at you. “So you can say it. Heck, I’m fucking thinking it.”
Spencer swallowed. He knew he shouldn't get involved. At least more than he already was. He knew he shouldn't indulge you. And he definitely knew that he shouldn't try to steer you away from Ethan. Because even though he really wanted to win you back, he knew that was unfair to you.
So Spencer was glad the light turned green and your attention was back on the road before he got a chance to respond.
“You know what was odd?” He said, quickly changing the subject. “What?” You asked. “How Gina didn't try to shake my hand when we met.” He noted, and immediately you bit your bottom lip. Fuck. You didn't realise it then. How could you have not realised? It means that she recognised the name and remembered how you told her he was a germaphobe.
“She must have just been eager to get going to be honest.” You lied calmly.
Spencer didn't buy your excuse. “I don’t think that’s it.” He said, trying to get a reaction out of you. “It’s almost as if she knew not to shake my hand.”
“Honestly Spencer, I wouldn't read too much into it.” You countered. “I mean we are on a tight schedu-.”
“Why are you lying to me Y/N?” He interrupted causing the air to hitch in your throat. “Just like you know when I’m not being truthful Y/N, I can also tell when you’re lying and you’re doing so right now.”
There was no point evading him any longer. Spencer was stubborn, almost as stubborn as you, and he wasn't going to stop pressing on the matter. Plus it was time he knew the truth. After all this time, he deserved to know the truth.
Taking a deep breath, you pulled the car over on the side of the road and cut the engine. You turned to look at the brunette doctor who was already looking at you.
“Do you remember the last time I visited you in prison?” You asked, your voice so timid you weren't even sure Spencer heard you. But he did. And he nodded his head slowly. “Of course I do. It was one of the worst days of my life.” He responded, and you could detect the hurt in his sentence.
“Well, uhh-” You cleared your throat. Here goes nothing. “That day I came to see you I actually, eh, well I-I wanted to ask if you’d marry me.”
Spencer was taken aback by your admission. A puzzled expression spread across his face as his mouth parted in shock. He searched his mind for what words to say but nothing seemed quite right. You wanted to marry him? The day he broke your heart by ending things with you so abruptly, you wanted to propose? He couldn't believe it.
Of course you sensed that he had trouble with wrapping his brain around this, like you knew he would, so you continued.
“Spencer, I loved you so much and just like the rest of the team I knew in my heart you were innocent. I knew it was only a matter of time before you would get out.” Tears began forming in your eyes and the lump in your throat grew larger with every passing second.
“When you were locked away, and our life together was taken away from us without warning, I realised I wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of my days with you.” The salty droplets began trailing down your cheeks and along your jawline. Spencer wanted to reach out and wipe them but he couldn't bring himself to move an inch. He was completely frozen.
“But between trying to clear your name, working the normal caseload, and honestly trying to get out of bed every fucking morning, I needed help to planning what I wanted to be the most perfect day.” You paused to take a quick breath. “Which is why I hired Gina.”
“Why didn't you say anything?” Spencer asked quietly after a moment of silence. An uneasy yet somewhat freeing silence.
“You broke up with me Spencer.” You replied. “That day I came to visit you, before I could even finish saying ‘Hi Spencer, I missed you.’, you ended things.”
“Y/N...” He whispered, and without thinking he took your hands in his. “And I know you remember what happened after that so I’m sure you can figure out why I didn't tell you sooner.” You added, corner of your lips twirling into a half-smile. Spencer squeezed your hands and let out a deep sigh.
“If I-” The brunette agent began but you shook your head to cut him off. “I know you only ended things to protect me Spencer.” You freed your hands from his grasp and gently cupped his cheek. It shouldn't have come as a surprise that he leaned into your touch.
“Which is why I was never angry with you, why I never resented you. I cannot take back the words I said to you that day but you have to understand it was all the initial shock considering I thought I would be leaving the prison with a fiancé and not completely heartbroken.”
You let your hand fall from Spencer’s face and ran your fingers through your hair. You cleared your throat.
“I hope this doesn't change anything between us.” You muttered. “Because I like where we are now, and I would hate-” This time it was Spencer who cut you off. “You have nothing to worry about Y/N.” He said with a timid smile.
“Thank you for telling me.” Spencer added.
“It was time you knew.”
You smiled at him warmly one last time before turning your attention back to the wheel. You started the engine once again and within minutes you were back on the road.
The two of you drove in congenial silence. As you focused on the directions ahead, feeling grateful that the brunette doctor was understanding, Spencer’s mind raced.
He couldn't help but wonder where the two of you would be now if he hadn't been so rash - married, maybe with a child by now. He shook the thought away, it hurt too much.
Of course back then he did what he thought was the right thing to do. He was suspicious that whoever was framing him would come after you, and he knew he couldn't risk that. He would never risk anything bad happening to you. In the end his suspicions were proved correct when Cat and Lindsey kidnapped his mom. And when that happened you were there for him in unimaginable ways, you didn't leave his side for a minute.
He should have begged for your forgiveness the second the whole ordeal was over. He should have fought harder to win you back, especially since it didn't take long for him to admit he only broke up with you to protect you. Truthfully, he was a coward. He thought perhaps you wouldn't take him back after the hurtful things that were said.
After all this time, he learned that you only really said what you said because you thought Spencer was the love of your life.
“I would have said yes.” The brunette doctor whispered.
Stopping at a red light, you turned your head to look at him. A confused look gracing your facial features. Spencer cleared his throat before nervously meeting your gaze.
“I would have said yes.” He spoke louder. Now you definitely heard him.
“Spencer...”
“I know it doesn't matter now, but in case you ever wondered what I would have said if you got to ask me back then.” He paused. “I would have said yes.”
“You don’t have to say that.” You muttered with a soft smile. “I’m not just saying it Y/N. I really mean it.” He emphasised and your heart skipped a beat.
The thought that crossed your mind next was incredibly wrong. The sudden pull you felt toward the man sitting beside you was inappropriate, misguided even, however it was there. You wanted to kiss him. You really wanted to kiss him.
Perhaps if you knew that Spencer wanted to kiss you too, you would have leapt across from your seat to smash his lips against yours. To tangle your fingers in his hair, cradle his lap, feel his hands travel up your back and hold you close.
But you didn't know. So you hesitated. And as you hesitated, you were promptly brought back to reality by the car behind you. The beeping of the horn signalised the lights had turned green and it was time to move along.
With a timid smile, you broke eye contact and began to drive.
Heavy-sitting silence enveloped around you. Spencer noticed immediately the slight change in your demeanour but he chose not to comment on it.
See, just seconds ago the brunette agent noticed a look in your eyes that he hasn't seen since you were dating. A look of devotion, amity. A look that burned the hope inside of him even more.
An image formulated in his brain. Image of you walking down the aisle in a beautiful white dress, him standing at the end of the alter while your dad gives you away, both of you tearing up. It was foolish, yes. Spencer should have known better than to hold out hope that one day that image would become reality but he couldn't help it.
And as the image became more vivid, the pain he felt in his heart grew stronger. Knowing that one day you wanted to be his forever, and now he was helping you tour venues for a wedding he didn't want to happen. The perfect image came crumbling down. Reality hit.
No matter how much he wanted it, you weren't his anymore.
Keep thinking about us and how things get in between But if it is love, it doesn't matter, you don't belong to me But I can't let go

Tumblr media
Halloween was never a holiday that interested you. At least that’s how it used to be…
Growing up with a non-magic family, the festivities had never seemed that interesting. You couldn’t figure out the appeal of a holiday dedicated to something you didn’t believe in. The ghosts, the ghouls, the whispers of magic on the air – it all appeared juvenile. Of course, you would buy the occasional pack of sweets for the school children that scurried around the neighbourhood, demanding treats on every doorstep. However, you never went out to celebrate yourself, uninterested in the costumes, the decorations, or the general air of mischief that circulated that that time of year. You had no rose-tinted nostalgia for the holiday, and no desire to dress up or carve Jack-o-lanterns.
All this changed when you met Jimin.
When you had first received your letter from Hogwarts, both you and your parents had been shocked. You had no idea up that magic even existed, and yet, there was the letter in your hands, screaming the contrary to all you believed. A well constructed prank? The look on your parents’ faces suggested otherwise. Your parents explained to you that magic truly did exist, and while they themselves were non-magical, one of your aunts was actually a witch, who had also attended Hogwarts in her youth.
With that revelation, your life flipped on its head.
After a summer spent pleading with your parents to let you go, you finally arrive at Hogwarts, filled with wonder at the new world you’ve uncovered, and amazed that your family were able to hide this from you for so long. Sorted into Slytherin, you find yourself surrounded by witches and wizards who are already familiar with this alien lifestyle – students who’ve been watching Quidditch matches since they were babbling babies, and who are already familiar with simple spells. New and alone, you find yourself  estranged from your peers.
That is, until your first Halloween at Hogwarts.
✽ ✽ ✽
[First Year – October 31st]
On the night of October the thirty first, the girls in your dormitory are preparing for the Halloween feast, with excited chatter, tying up their hair, putting on their robes, and admiring themselves in the mirror.
You sit on the edge of your bed in your robes, swinging your feet, and feeling out of place, like a pulled muscle. You’re unsure of the customs of witches and wizards, and are sweating at the thought of messing up tonight, doing something that will instantly single you out as muggle born. Nerves clamouring as you listen to two of the girls, Padma and Beatrix, whispering about all the possible treats you’ll be served that evening, all of which you’ve never even heard of before, you decide that waiting around in the dorm is just making you feel worse. You get up and walk out of the dormitory, heading to the common room. You were hoping to avoid the commotion, but soon realise your mistake, having only walked further into the confusion. A group of boys are huddled in the corner, helping each other with their ties, while a gaggle of girls giggle in the other corner, glancing at the older boys who walk past with robes billowing. Some prankster has set off a magical miniature firework which crackles dangerously close to the green tapestries hanging from the wall.
You swallow, feeling all the more daft as you watch, excluded, while the rest of your peers enjoy themselves.
“Hello.” Startled, you spin around to the source of the voice.
A boy stands in front of you. You recognise him to be Park Jimin from your potions class. You haven’t spoken to him at all, but have often noticed him – for his undeniably friendly demeanour and his distinctive laugh which always travels around the potions class, followed by the shout of “Park Jimin, and Kim Taehyung! What is so dreadfully funny that you deign it appropriate to interrupt our lesson?”
Unsure if Jimin is speaking to you, you glance around to see if there’s anyone else, and then, suddenly mute, point to yourself.
Jimin laughs. “Yes, I’m talking to you.”
“Oh… Uh, right… sorry. Hi.”
“I didn’t mean to spook you,” Jimin says, a smile playing on his lips at your lost expression, “You just looked a little lonely, so I thought I’d put you out of your misery.
He must have noticed the alarm passing across your features, as he quickly continues, “Oh, Merlin, that sounded like I was planning your assassination or something! I just meant, I wanted to talk to you, since I didn’t want you to be by yourself.”
You laugh, “Well, thank you. I must have looked pretty pathetic, huh?”
“No… well… maybe.”
You open your mouth in mock shock, and then shrug, “It must be super obvious I’m new to all of this.” You gesture to the robe you’re wearing, and clear your throat, lowering your voice, “I’m… from a muggle family.”
You know that wizards and witches from muggle families are a lot more happily accepted by the magical community than they used to be, but it is whispered that some Slytherins still cling to elitist ideals about pure blood magic wielders. You had been both surprised and nervous when you were sorted into Slytherin on your first day. Despite this, you feel at ease explaining to Jimin, who’s currently smiling at your with a friendly curiosity.
“Ah,” Jimin nods, “This must all be very strange for you then.”
“Yep. It wasn’t until my letter from Hogwarts that I even believed that magic was real!”
Jimin’s eyes go wide, “I can’t even imagine what that must be like.”
“On top of that,” you continue on, your barriers breaking down as you easily chat with Jimin, “My family were never really into anything that even hinted at magic or the supernatural, so we never celebrated Halloween!”
You didn’t think Jimin’s eyes could widen further, but he manages to surprise you. “You what?”
A blush rises to your cheeks, and your eyes dart to the floor, suddenly embarrassed. “Yeah… not once.”
“Well, not to worry,” Jimin says, “Look at it this way – this is going to be the best Halloween of your life.”
You can’t argue with that.
“You’re in for a treat,” Jimin assures you, and you grin.
Around you, the crowd of Slytherin students have begun to meander out of the common room. “It must be time for the feast to start,” Jimin is bouncing on his toes in excitement. Feeding off his energy, you cannot help but feel excited yourself, despite not knowing what to expect at all. You follow him down the maze of corridors that make up the old school, leading you towards the Great Hall.
Entering through the grand doors, your mouth involuntarily falls open. Carved pumpkins float above the tables, casting a delicate glow over the array of delicious treats on display. There are plates piled high with tender meats, savoury pies and glazed vegetables. Sweets of all varieties sit in carved pumpkin bows, overflowing with colour.
You follow Jimin to the Slytherin table, where he offers for you to sit next to him. Across from you, at the Hufflepuff table, Jimin’s friend, Taehyung, waves at the two of you frantically.
Jimin grins and waves back, before turning his attention to you. “Well? First impressions?”
“This is all so amazing,” you gush, still transfixed by the wonderful foods piled in front of you. A mixture of delicious scents sing in your nostrils.
You wait patiently while the headmaster rumbles through his speech, welcoming each and every one of you to the feast. You’re salivating when you are finally allowed to start on the food. Despite knowing you should start with the savoury food first, your eyes are drawn, irresistibly, to the sweets. You reach for a handful of jellybeans from one one the plates in front of you.  Just as you stuff a handful into your mouth, JImin catches sight of you and begins shaking his head vigorously in warning.
Too late. A cacophony of foul tastes hit your tongue. You’re not sure what you’re supposed to be tasting, but it is not good. Eyes watering, you try not to gag.
“Here, here!” Jimin hands you a napkin, and you discreetly spit out the barely chewed mouthful, folding the napkin over a few times, hiding your faux pax in shame.
“What on God’s green earth was that?” you ask, hurrying to take a sip of water.
“Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans,” Jimin explains , “They’re well known, but I guess you haven't grown up with wizard snacks… Basically, eating one is  a gamble. You could get a delicious one. Or you could get an absolutely disgusting flavour. They’re made to cover any possible flavour under the sun. Some of the worst include skunk’s spray and vomit.”
“So that’s what that was...” You try not to think of it, despite the ghost of bitterness haunting your tongue.
Jimin chuckles, “I thought you were being incredibly brave eating so many all at once…”
“I’m new to all of this,” you remind him. Having regained your composure somewhat, you give him a nudge, “I dare you to taste one too. Just so I’m not alone in making a complete fool of myself.”
Jimin grins, “Okay, I’m up for a dare.” He roots around in the bowl, picking out a red one, which he pops in his mouth. “Mmm… cherry.”
You frown, “That’s cheating. You must have known red would be good!” You pick up a red one yourself and place it on your tongue, only to have the disgusting taste of liver clamber across your taste buds. You don’t need to tell Jimin how disgusting this bean is. Your face says it all, as Jimin begins laughing. You begin searching for the napkin again, but Jimin says, “No, no, you’ve committed. You gotta swallow now.”
You open your eyes wide, begging, but he continues, “I dare you.”
Your brows furrowing in effort; it takes all your strength not to retch as you swallow. “That’s not fair,” you say, “How come I got so unlucky?”
Jimin shrugs, “There’s about a fifty percent chance you’ll get something nice.”
You cross your arms on the table, “I still think you must have cheated somehow.”
“How about you try something tasty instead?” Jimin gestures to the other nice looking foods in front of you.
Your brow crinkles, “How am I supposed to know there aren’t other weird foods you wizards eat?”
Jimin begins spooning things onto your plate, “Don’t worry, these are all good. Cross my heart.”
You watch him pile foods higher and higher until you beg, ‘Stop, there’s no way I can eat that much!”
“Sure, but you gotta at least try a little bit of everything,” Jimin encourages, so you pick up a fork and make your way around the plate, sampling every flavour. You start with the meats, which are just as tender as they look. The chicken melts in your mouth, and the gammon is sweet and salty in the best possible way. The vegetables come next. You’ve never been a big fan of vegetables, but these could make you rethink that stance. The carrots are sweet, glazed with a honey dressing, and the parsnips are well seasoned. But the main stars of the show are the desserts. A myriad of flavours hit your senses, each one more delicious than the last. Sweet spices, creamy caramels, and smooth frostings all harmonising a ballad on your tongue, making you squirm in your seat with joy.
“Are they good?” Jimin asks, and you nod enthusiastically, mouth still full. “What’s your favourite?”
You point at one of the pastries as you swallow the last bite, “It’s all good, but I think this one is the best.
“Mmm, apple and redcurrant tart,” Jimin nods in approval, “That one’s good.”
There’s still so much food piled on your plate, but you’re too full to take another bite. You lean back, and sigh contentedly, gazing up at the starry sky that spreads out above you, stars winking down.
“I may be new to Halloween, but I could certainly get used to this,” you say.
“We’ll just have to try and make next year all the more exciting then,” Jimin says, and you give him a grin.
“Challenge accepted.”

[Second Year – October 28th]
“We’ve got to make this Halloween better than the last year!”
Jimin is sat cross legged under a crooked tree, leaves just staring to turn orange and gold. You’re standing next to him, well wrapped up, not enjoying the cold that autumn brings with it, as you stamp your numb feet and rub your frozen hands together.
“Oh yeah,” Taehyung grins up at you from his spot next to Jimin, “You don’t normally celebrate Halloween, do you?”
You shake your head, at him, and his grin grows all the wider, and all the more rectangular.
“How do we top last year?” Jimin wonders, while Taehyung struggles with opening a chocolate frog pack.
“You don’t have to try and top it,” you say, finally taking a seat next to Jimin, and immediately regretting it as cold seeps into your rear. You pull your cloak around you. “Last year was fun. And next year can be fun too...”
“We could throw a party!” Taehyung burst out, interrupting you.
“Would we even be able to host one?” you ask.
Jimin’s brows are furrowed in thought. “That could be a good idea,” he says, and Taehyung smiles in pride, as he finally gets the chocolate frog pack open, only to watch as the chocolate frog hops away, finally freed from its cardboard cage.
“No, come back,” Taehyung digs in his pocket for his wand, but It’s already too late, the frog has hopped into the bushes, out of sight. Taehyung sighs, then digs in the pack for the card. “Hmm, Salazar Slytherin,” he says, staring at the card inside, “I already have him.”
“I don’t,” Jimin pipes up, “I’ll trade you the rest of my sherbet lemons for him.”
Taehyung nods, and you watch the two boys exchange, wondering what all the fuss is about. Jimin shows you the card, where a man poses proudly. You’ve got used to seeing pictures that move on paper, but you’re still always mildly impressed.
“You’re still missing the important detail that we don’t have anywhere to host a party,” you point out, and Taehyung shrugs, as he pops a sherbet lemon in his mouth:
“We can just use a common room. The Hufflepuff common room is close to the kitchen, and you don’t need a password or anything to get in. I bet I could get some of my Hufflepuff friends to help set up.”
“When would we do this?” you ask, giving in reluctantly to Taehyung’s infectious excitement.
“We can do it after the Halloween feast,” Taehyung suggests, and Jimin nods in agreement.
“This sounds great,” he says, glancing at you in anticipation, “What do you say?”
“I’m in.”
The two boys cheer.

[Second Year – October 31st]
The next few days pass in a flurry, with Jimin and Taehyung passing notes around the classrooms, letting other students know of your plans. As only students from their respective houses are normally allowed in their house common room,  each student is told to keep the plans a secret from the professors.
As the evening finally arrives, Jimin is a ball of energy, struggling to contain his smile, as you walk down to the Great Hall for the feast.
All the way through the feast, you can’t help but think about what’s to follow, excited about the party that is in store later.
As soon as the feast ends, you follow Jimim along with the few other Slytherins who are going o the party, walking with the rest of the Slytherins, heading back towards the Slytherin common room. At one of the turnings on the way, you and Jimin make a left off the normal route, and begin to make your way back, following stairs down to the basement where the Hufflepuff common room is located. Reaching the door, you give the secret knock you had arranged with Taehyung beforehand.
His head pops around the door, a conspiring grin on his face as he lets you in. The Hufflepuff common room is round, with circular windows close to the ceiling which give a view of the darkness outside. House plants line the shelves of the room, some dripping their leaves down the earthy walls. Taehyung and his friends have added orange and gold streamers, with carved Jack-o-lanterns grinning from the alcoves and crevices.
“Ta-da,” Taehyung spreads out his arms, spinning around to show off his – and his friends’ – hard efforts.
“This is amazing, Taehyung,” you tell him, and he gives a wide smile:
“There’s more, come take a look at this!”
You let him lead you and Jimin over to a table stacked high with sweets. “I managed to scrounge these from the kitchens.” He gives a wink, “This is why it’s good to be friendly with the cooks. Hope you saved room.”
You hadn’t saved much, and you eye the sweets sadly, afraid that any more food would make you pop. There’s even apple and redcurrant tart. You cast it a wistful look, before letting yourself be distracted by Jimin and Taehyung.
Slowly, other students begin to trickle into the common room, some of them older students, most in the same year as you. Music begins to float from a corner of the room, and so, you grab Taehyung and Jimin, lading them to the centre of the room, where a few other students have started dancing.
Swaying in time with the music, you laugh as Taehyung and Jimin goof around in front of you, clapping along to the beat. The air is filled with happy chatter. You drink in the atmosphere, swept along by the other’s enthusiasm.
Taehyung notices a few of his friends from Hufflepuff and waves, before going over to say, “Hello”, leaving you alone with Jimin on the makeshift dance-floor.
You suddenly feel a little awkward, dancing alone with Jimin. You keep on swaying, smiling over at him every so often. His eyes are often on the floor, his dancing slowing to a gentle sway, but occasionally his eyes connect with yours before flicking down to the floor again.  Perhaps he’s feeling just as awkward as you are.
All of a sudden, there’s a shout, and the music cuts out. You halt, Jimin frozen at your side, while the other students twist their heads, looking around, trying to figure out what’s going on.
“What is the meaning of this?” Above the other heads of the students, you can just about make out the head of one of the tall Hufflepuff prefects. “You do realise that there are some students who are trying to sleep after the feast, right?” He strides forward, the other students parting in waves before him. “I think I see some non-Hufflepuff students here as well,” he comments as he passes by you. You pull your cloak around you, trying the mask the Slytherin colours on your jumper. “I have half a mind to report everyone in this room to the headmaster.”
“Aw come on,” one of the other prefects, a boy you recognise as Jung Hoseok follows behind his peer, “These kids are just having fun,” he places an arm on the other prefects shoulder. “Let’s just say it was a mistake – a learning experience – and move on. I’m sure it won’t happen again.” He gives a wink to Taehyung, who’s stood across from you, trying to look guilty.
“Alright,” the prefect snaps, “But if I hear even a single whiff of another party being held in this common room, I will march each and every pupil responsible down to the headmaster’s office myself, mark my words.”
With that, the party disperses – very quickly. Streamers are swept away with the flicking of wands, and the candles in the Jack-o'-lanterns instantaneously snuff out.
Grabbing Jimin by the sleeve, you both make a bee-line for the exit, giving Taehyung a reluctant wave as you leave.
“Well, that wasn’t as successful as I hoped,” Jimin whispers, as you make your way down the corridor, heading back towards the Slytherin dorms.
“Maybe not,” you say, “But it was fun. Did you see that prefect’s face? I thought he was going to explode with rage.”
Jimin snorts with laughter. “Sorry it wasn’t the best of Halloween experiences.”
“What do you mean?” you say, “It’s gotta be one of the best. At least top-three.”
“You haven’t even celebrated three Halloweens yet!”
“Exactly. So it’s been one of the best.”
“Well, we’ll just have to top it again next year.” Jimin decides.

[Third Year – October 28th]
Moving into your third year you find yourself gifted with a little more freedom around the school. It’s the year that you’re allowed to visit Hogsmeade, and you’re an uncontainable ball of energy when the weekend closest to Halloween rolls around, marking the first date that the third years are allowed to make their way down to the all-wizarding village.
On the Saturday, you and Jimin meet up with Taehyung on the steps outside Hogwarts, and make your way down to the village.  All the way JImin is talking excitedly about how he’s planning on one-upping the Halloween festivities from last year.
“We can’t have another part  like last year,” Taehyung says, “No way am I willing to get us all in trouble again.”
“I know,” Jimin sighs, “But we’ve gotta do something exciting, right?”
The topic of Halloween soon fades away as you finally reach Hogsmeade. The village street is blanketed by leaves in red and orange, with cheery lights shining from the windows of shops, giving a cosy contrast to the drab autumnal sky.
“Where do we go first?” Taehyung asks, and you and Jimin share a look, before you both point to the sweets shop, Honeydukes.
“Do you guys think about anything other than your stomachs?” Taehyung asks, following after you, as you rush for the cosy looking shop, nestled under a crown of fallen leaves that adorn its low roof. Your eyes widen as you enter, drinking in the view of the magical sweets packed in jars from floor to ceiling. You pick out sherbet lemons, Jimin’s favourite, and he buys a packet of apple and redcurrant tarts from the pastry display. He shares the still warm pastries with you as you exit back into the cold air, and debate where to go next. Taehyung is eager to visit Zonko’s Joke shop, while Jimin needs to visit Ceridwen’s Cauldrons to get a replacement cauldron after an unfortunate incident in your last potions lesson involving an explosion and a very angry potions teacher. You make your way around the village, stopping in at each shop you want in turn, before finally stopping at the Three Broomsticks where Jimin offers to buy the three of you butterbeers.
As he leaves the table, Taehyung gives you a look that you struggle to interpret. “Looks like Jimin is super excited for your third Halloween.”
You laugh, “He’s more excited than I am.”
“Well sure, but he wants to impress you.”
“Huh?” you blush, not sure what Taehyung’s implying, “Nah, he just wants us all to have fun.”
“Yeah, but he wants you especially have fun,”  Taehyung goes on.
“Well of course, I’m his friend.”
Taehyung rolls his eyes. “You aren’t normally this oblivious, are you? I can’t possibly be speaking to the same person who’s aced all her divination and dark arts tests this year. I am, in fact, speaking with a moron, who’s somehow possessed the body of my friend.”
“Come on Taehyung, stop being daft” you give him a shove from across the table, “What are you trying to say.”
“I’m saying that Jimin likes you,” Taehyung enunciates every word, “As. More. Than. A. Friend. And you’d have to be an idiot not to see it.”
You shake your head, perplexed. Before you can question Taehyung further, Jimin is standing at the table, trying not to spill the three butterbeers as he sets them down.
He squeezes into the space next to you, while Taehyung gives you a meaningful look, and you blush.
“Well, cheers to our first Hogsmeade visit,” Jimin raises up his mug, and you do the same, clicking your overflowing mug against his and Taehyung’s, trying not to slosh any more of the golden liquid down the side than is absolutely unavoidable.
You take a deep sip, letting the warmth seep from your mouth down to your stomach and out to the extremities of your body, ears to fingers to toes. “Oh man, that’s so good,” you say, eyes wide as you set down your mug, wiping at the froth that was left on your lips.
Taehyung and Jimin both nod in agreement, and you settle back comfortably on your chair, pondering Taehyung’s words, as your two friends begin to argue over whether chocolate frogs are actually a good snack, or if they’re only good for the collectible cards you get with them.
✽ ✽ ✽
By the time you leave the Three Broomsticks, the sky is beginning to darken, with orange coloured clouds crowding out the deep navy of the sky.
Jimin suddenly stops in his tracks, spinning around to face you: “I’ve just had a great idea!”
You wait, curious, edging him on with your raised brows:
“I have an idea how we can celebrate Halloween this year,” he continues. You and Taehyung’s silence is encouragement enough for him to continue. “We should go visit the Shrieking Shack. I mean… I know it’s a bit early for Halloween. But it’ll be the perfect haunted experience.”
An uncertainty pools in your stomach, cold and clammy, as you stare at the abandoned house that looms over Hogsmeade. It’s rumoured to be the most haunted house in Britain. You mull over the idea in your head. “Don’t you think it’s dangerous?”
When you first arrived in Hogwarts, you were startled at the sight of actual ghosts, which you had gone your whole life beleiving to be a superstition. The ghosts at Hogwarts were friendly, but ghosts haunting an old abandoned house… you weren’t so sure.
Jimin shrugs in response to your question. “Who knows.” Seeing you hesitation, he gives a tug on your sweater, “Come on. I’ll keep you safe if anything happens, I promise.”
Taehyung raises his hands in defeat, “Listen, I don’t think I’ll stay. It’s getting late, and I just remembered I have a divinations homework to finish. But you two should go have a look and find out if it’s really haunted!”
Before you can stop him, Taehyung is spinning on his heel, and heading back for Hogwarts. Not before he flashes you a quick wink, and you suddenly realise that he’s trying to give you some alone time with Jimin. Or maybe he’s trying to give Jimin some alone time with you. You’re not sure what to think, but you feel uncertainty digging its roots deep, planting you firmly on the spot - right beside Jimin. His presence is suddenly incredibly distracting, feeling his heat so close beside you, battling against the cold autumn evening. His breath billows clouds on the air, his dark eyes blinking curiously at you, pleading.
‘Alright, fine. Just a quick look!”
Jimin grins, and you allow him to pull you to the Shrieking Shack that stands, creaking, on its own, ostracised from the other buildings in Hogsmeade. The building is rounded off by a rickety fence, casting a shadow over you. A cold fear trickles down your back, but you steel yourself, determined not to make a fool of yourself in front of Jimin.
Jimin gives you a leg-up over the fence, before climbing over himself, and suddenly, there’s nothing separating you from whatever might reside in the house. A cold wind tugs at your hair and scarf, pulling away your frozen breath.
Your fingers are threaded through Jimin’s. You don’t remember grabbing him. He squeezes your fingers.
You walk forward together, slowly. At the door, Jimin murmurs a spell, and the door creaks open on unstable hinges. Inside, the house is dark, and the strong smell of mildew rises to meed your nostrils.
“Maybe we shouldn’t go in,” you whisper, trying to steady your shaking voice, “We’ve got close enough.”
“No, come on,” Jimin hisses, pulling you closer. Swallowing your fear, you follow after him, huddled close for comfort. The house feels colder than the outside breeze, and your fogged breath clouds your vision.
As you step further into the bowels of the house, your ears pick up on a hissing, muttering sound. Your freeze, paralysing fear sinking its claws into your spine, and Jimin pauses beside you, hand damp in your own. Straining your ears beyond the pounding of your own heart, you hear – yes, those are definitely voices.
Carefully, cautiously, Jimin leads you forward, down the corridor to the door that is partially open, where the voices emanate from. Pressing his finger to his lips, Jimin peers around the door to find…
A group of sixth years smoking cigarettes. As the door swings open, revealing you and Jimin, one of them glances up and then nudges the other one, “Hey, look what we got here.”
“Oi,” the other, who seems to be the more authoritative, stands up, “Scram.” He makes a grab for his wand, but you and Jimin don’t need any more prodding. Turning on your heels, you flee for the door.
You and Jimin don’t stop running until you reach the entrance to Honeydukes, shuddering out shaky laughter that fogs the cold air.
Jimin’s hand is still in yours, not having let go through the entire experience. You don’t comment as he keeps his fingers laced through yours as you walk back to Hogwarts.
✽ ✽ ✽
[Fourth Year – October 31st]
The school is abuzz this year. Your professors have decided to host a ball on Halloween night, which all of the older students are allowed to attend. It won’t just be any kind of ball, but a masquerade ball, in keeping with the tradition of wearing costumes for Halloween.
Excitement shoots through your veins as you get ready for the night. You’re incredibly happy with the dress which your parents had sent to Hogwarts. It’s purple with a skirt that flares out and shimmers in the light, seemingly changing colour dependant on the light that strikes it’s folds and frills, shifting through shades of blue and aquamarine. You take one last look at your hair in the mirror, tucking a stray strand behind your ear, before you put on your mask of purple lace, matching your dress.
Your roommate, Padma, helps you tie the silk ribbon keeping your mask in place, and gives you a smile. “You look amazing.”
Blushing, you glance down to the floor, unsure how to take the compliment. “Thanks, you too.”
Her face flushes with happiness before she walks away to help Beatrix with her dress. Satisfied with your appearance as you cast one last glance over your reflection, you make your way out into the Slytherin common room. From the common room window, you can see the full moon shining on the surface of the Hogwarts lake.
You spot Jimin, despite his mask, immediately. He’s wearing a dark suit, with a black shirt and tie, and a black mask to match. Sneaking up behind him where he’s standing with a group of other Slytherin boys, you give him a tap on the shoulder.
He turns around, and a smile spreads across his features, “Wow, look at you!” He picks you up and spins you around, while you squeak his arms. “You look amazing.”
“You don’t look so bad yourself,” you giggle as he sets you down again, breathless.
You catch a flush of colour beneath his mask, and your mind flicks back to Taehyung, who’s been dropping hints that Jimin has a crush on you for most of the past year. You’ve been trying to ignore him, but you can’t help but notice the small hints Jimin gives out without meaning to. The thought of him crushing on you fills you with a warm, happy glow. It’s nice to feel liked, and you silently find yourself hoping – wishing – that it might actually be true.
Of course, you haven’t done anything to confirm it, not ready to put him – or yourself – on the spot. But moments like this make you all the more curious.
“Come on,” Jimin motions to you as the crowd of Slytherins begin meandering to the great hall.
You thread your fingers through his, and let him lead you along the corridors to the Great Hall, happiness fizzing pleasantly in your stomach at the touch of his hand in your own.
As you make your way into the Great Hall your breath leaves your lungs. Even after four years, when you think you’re used to all that magic has to offer, it throws another glittering spectacle your way. The entire hall is cloaked in a purple glow as the sky above your head opens up to the marvel of glowing colours from the northern lights. You know that the real sky won’t have the aurora borealis shining outside, yet it has somehow been summoned to light one room in Hogwarts castle. The whole hall is filled with sparkling streamers, and candles cast a warm glow against the cool lights shining from the sky that makes up the enchanted roof.
“Hey, look,” Jimin nudges you, “Your dress matches the sky.”
You look down at your dress, the purples and blues swirling in the seams of the material and smile. “Well it would be a shame not to go dancing when I look so good in this light,” you say, and Jimin grins, letting you lead him towards the centre of the hall, where a few other students have started dancing.
Holding onto Jimin’s arms, stronger than your remember, you spin around the dance floor, held close to his warmth.  The sky above your head is a glittering shimmer of different colours, ghosting past your eyes, with your gaze fixed on Jimin. His face is mostly obscured by his mask, but his eyes are clear to you, fixed on your own - dark pools of emotion that you can reach, interpret, if you just give yourself one moment of vulnerability. If you just give yourself one shimmering moment of honesty.
Your eyes rip away from Jimin’s, your face blushing, unsure of the feelings that you’re encountering. You notice Taehyung in your periphery vision. He’s standing at the edge of the dance floor, with a mug of butterbeer in his hand. Normally, you know that he would run over to you and Jimin, a grin on his face and a greeting on his tongue, but he seems to sense the same shimmering uncertainty hovering between you and Jimin. As he stands quiet at the edge of the dance floor, he gives you a wink, and then weaves his way back into the crowd.
This is what he’s been trying to encourage all this time – one moment of vulnerable honesty, where both you and Jimin open up enough to realise what’s so obvious to anyone else. You’re tired of waiting for confirmation.
Tipping your chin up, you push your lips to his in a rush of courage, almost as if you had drunk Felix Felicis. You can feel surprise rolling through his body, as he keeps his hold on you. Slowly, easily, he melts into your kiss. His lips open to yours, and with a whirling head, you give yourself over to the desires you had been ignoring for so long, fingers finding purchase on the soft hair at the nape of his neck. Your nerves conduct a symphony of excitement as everything you had needed was understood and relinquished to you in that moment.
As you part, both breathless, both smiling, you say,“Shall we step outside – just to get some fresh air?”
Jimin follows your cue, with an “Absolutely,”, walking after you as you weave your way through the crowds, out the door of the Great Hall, and towards the exit of the castle. The air is cold as you step out, and your shiver in the gauze of your shimmering dress, beautiful, but useless at protecting against the chill.
Seeing you trembling, Jimin removes his blazer and places it over your shoulders. You breathe deeply, enjoying the fresh crisp edge in your lungs.
Outside, with the real stars shimmering above you, unmasked from the aurora borealis that shimmered in the Great Hall, you turn to Jimin. You remove your mask, glad to let the cool air fall onto your cheeks.
Jimin takes off his mask as well, and you rake your eyes over his expression, hunting for a hint of regret at the kiss you had shared. There’s nothing but joy in his face.
As the rest of the school parties inside, you and Jimin share your hearts out in the cold.

[Fifth Year – October 31st]
Jimin is taking Halloween celebrations very seriously this year. After all – it’s not just Halloween, it’s also your anniversary. One year of being a couple.
That’s why, when the Halloween Feast ends, instead of heading back to the common room, he leads you out of the school, sneaking through back passages and hallways until you’re outside, with the brisk wind whipping your hair.
“Where are we going?”
Jimin keeps throwing you knowing glances, pushing his fingers to his lips.
Impatience bubbles below your skin, but you allow him to lead you on to the edge of the lake, where you find a spread of your favourite snacks and drinks on a checkered picnic blanket, surrounded by candles that suddenly flicker on with the murmur of a spell.
“I hope you saved room for desert like I told you to.”
“Wow, Jimin,” you kneel down on the blanket, absorbing the array he’s arranged. “This is wonderful!”
“I hoped you would like it,” you can barely see it, but in the candle light, you notice a faint blush on his cheeks.
“I love it,” you assure him, leaning across  to give him a kiss on the cheek, and the blush deepens.
You allow yourself a few tastes of the of sweets that Jimin has provided, including the apple and redcurrant tart that is, magically, still warm, before lying back on the picnic blanket, snuggling up to Jimin, who provides an arm wrapped around you to fend off the chill.
As you stare up at the cloudless sky, with stars winking down at you, a wave of satisfaction spreads through your chest. You wish you could pause your life at this moment, bound by Jimin’s arms.
“Thanks for an amazing year, Jimin,” you murmur, and you feel his grip around you tighten a little, as he squeezes you.
“Thank you too. Here’s to many more.”
With no once but the stars watching down, you lean in to kiss him, pulling him closer. His body is firm and warm, a perfect distraction from the cold air that presses in from all other sides. After a year, you have so many emotions to share with him, so much love to give him.
✽ ✽ ✽
[Sixth Year - October 31st]
On the sixth year, your year group is allowed to go on a short school trip to a castle nestled in the mountains. The main goal of the school trip is learning of the history of some magical relics that were discovered around the area, as well as observing rare magical creatures that live in the area for your Care of Magical Creatures course.
The part you have been looking forward to the most is the Halloween celebrations. While you’ll be missing the normal Halloween feast, your teachers have allowed you your own room in the castle, where you can have a party with your year group.
The small room in the castle is cozy and cheerful, with a fire flickering in the hearth, and a tables piled high with food, making your mouth water and your eyes glisten.
When you and Jimin walk into the room together, your hand finds his, squeezing in excitement.
Taehyung walks up behind you, and throws an arm over each of your shoulders. “How are my favourite love-birds?”
Jimin laughs, “We’re good. You enjoying the school trip?”
“Sure… Although our group didn’t see anything exciting when we went orienteering. I swear the way the teachers spoke about it, I was certain that this place would be swarming with unicorns, But I suppose, even in areas where they’re more common… they’re still pretty rare.”
You bite your lip, not sure if telling Taehyung that the group you and Jimin were with managed to spot a young unicorn while you were out. Instead you say, “Isn’t this a nice change of pace from the normal Halloween feast?”
Taehyung looks around the room, a nostalgic smile on his face. “Yeah, it’s nice. Really nice... It’s strange to think that this is our penultimate year at school. It doesn’t feel that long ago we were just getting sorted into our houses.”
You feel Jimin’s squeeze your fingers. “Yeah, it’s going to be so strange when we have to leave,” he says.
“We’ll all stay friends when we leave Hogwarts though, right?” you say, and without any hesitation both Jimin and Taehyung answer - “Absolutely.”
✽ ✽ ✽
That night, you hear a knock on your dormitory door. Cracking it open, you peer out to find Jimin outside. “Hi,” he whispers.
“Jimin, you know we’re not meant to visit other students’ rooms at night,” you chide teasingly.
“I know, but I wanted to see you. Can I come in?” You peer up and down the corridor, but the entire hallway appears empty.
You nod, and let him in. The rooms you’ve been allocated at the castle are large, almost as big as the dorm rooms you’re assigned at Hogwarts, but you don’t have to share this one with other Slytherin girls. A large four-poster bed stands at the centre of the room, where you will be spending the night.
Excitement leaps up to your stomach as you realise that you’re alone in a bedroom with Jimin for the first time in a long time. Your professors are normally strict about students mingling in the dormitories at Hogwarts, so it’s difficult to get any intimate alone time.
You know the same thing is on Jimin’s mind, as his eyes fall to the bed. With a grin, you lead him over to soft mattress,  frosted by the thick duvet. Pulling him under the covers, you wrap your arms around him, your lips finding his in the dark. As he gets lost in the heat of your body, you murmur your love to him, whispered into the empty darkness beyond the haven of your bed. You learn new ways to know him, discovering new parts of him. The night stretches out to infinity, wobbling, and then collapsing with your secretly shared ecstasy.
✽ ✽ ✽
[Seventh Year - October 27th]
As it’s your final year at Hogwarts, some of your year have been tasked with helping to organise events. Of course, Jimin offered to organise the Halloween Feast, but now, as the night creeps closer, you can see he is getting more and more nervous.
When he comes back to the common room after another planning meeting, his tension automatically translates for you with a sigh, as he flops onto one of the chairs and rubs his eyes.
“You doing okay?” you ask, although you know he’s not.
His hair flops over his furrowed brows as he hangs his head. “It’s fine. I just… I want to make this Halloween Feast the best it’s ever been, and I don’t know if it’s all going to come together the way I want...”
You make you way to the back of his chair, and begin to massage the tense muscles in his shoulders. “I’m sure it’ll be amazing.”
“But don’t you see?” Jimin looks up at you, straining his neck, “This is going to be the last Halloween Feast we have at Hogwarts. It’s got to be amazing! Or I’ll let you down.”
“No matter what, if I get to celebrate it with you, it’ll be amazing,” you reassure him, bending to plant a kiss on his forehead.
He smiles, and you feel his muscles relaxing against you. “Well, no matter what, you’ll be in for a treat, I promise.”
“I always am, when I get to spend all my days with you.” You plant a kiss on his lips this time, feeling him smile into you.
✽ ✽ ✽
[Seventh Year – October 31st]
The day of the Halloween Feast rolls around, and you meet Jimin in the common room, both dressed up, ready for the feast.
Jimin’s face melts into a soft smile, seeing you, with your hair tied back, and your gown billowing out around you as you run up to hug him. You can smell his cologne as you pull away from him, dizzying you, as it clings to your clothing – a reminder that he held you close.
“You ready for this?” you ask, and he gives you a nod, hand squeezing at your own.
You let him lead you down the hallways to the Great Hall. You take in every detail, knowing you’ve got a limited time left to appreciate the unique crevices of Hogwarts, with the twisting staircases, and the curious paintings. You’re not sure what will happen once you graduate. Will you have to go back to a non-magical life with your parents? Or will you get to stay in the world of magic, using the skills you’ve learnt in potion making, divination, and spell casting?
Jimin’s hand grips yours tightly, and you know he’s thinking of what will happen after you leave as well.
As you step into the Great Hall, your worries are quickly swept away.
The Great Hall has been completely transformed. Candles float in the air, burning flames of blue and orange, sparking up to the sky, which burns golden from the setting sun. Crystals dangle down from the ceiling, cascading light across the hall. The tables have strings of lights shining around them. At first glance they appear to be fairy lights, but when you look closer you realise they are actually specks of light floating on their own, like fireflies. Pumpkins sit on the table surrounded by flowers, and sprigs of ivy cascade down the table legs.
“You really outdid yourself,” you tell Jimin in a hushed tone of reverence, “This is beautiful.” He glows with pleasure as you sit down at the Slytherin table.
You feel a poke behind you, and turn in your seat to see Taehyung, who’s stopped on his way to the Hufflepuff table. He grins at you, “Amazing, whoever worked on this did an amazing job.” He grins at you, while Jimin flushes at the indirect complement.
Clasping a hand on Jimin’s shoulder, Taehyung says, “Good job, for real,” before he’s ushered along by some other Hufflepuffs who are trying to get to their seats.
The night seems to go by in a blur of dazzling lights and delicious food. You sit back in your chair, as a house elf comes around offering tea and mints after the dinner. “This was amazing,” you tell Jimin. “I’m sad it’s our last Halloween at Hogwarts. I want to do this all again”
Jimin nods, “It doesn’t need to be the last amazing Halloween we have together though.”
You smile. “Of course not.”
“Hey,” Jimin shuffles in his chair, “I know you might want to go to university after this, but… what would you say if, after all that… we moved in together?”
You blush, thinking it over. You and Jimin have been together for so long, it only seems like a natural conclusion that you would end up together after this. Yet, it seems difficult to imagine what it will be like to be with Jimin outside of Hogwarts, in a hazy future. All you know is that if Jimin’s a part of your life, then the days will be bright.
Without giving it any more thought, knowing exactly what you want, you say, “Yes. I’d like that very much.”
✽ ✽ ✽
[Four Years after Graduating from Hogwarts - October 31st]
It’s the day of the Halloween party – the Halloween party that Jimin has become famous among for hosting at his house. Somehow, without you noticing, late afternoon has slunk in, and you’re helping Jimin add the last finishing touches to your house, making sure all the foods are ready for when guests arrive.
You look around at the spread of food crammed on the small kitchen table. “Not too bad, Park Jimin” you say, giving him an approving smile.
“Well, I couldn’t have got it all done on time without your help,” Jimin says, making his way over to sweep you into a hug. He smells of spices and vanilla from helping you to bake in the kitchen. There’s flour on his hands, which has definitely ended up on your jumper. Nothing a little bit of magic won’t fix.
“Hey,” he pulls away from you, “I was going to ask after the party, but I’m too excited to wait.”
You furrow your brows, wondering what he’s getting at.
He licks his lips, looking down at you, and you see his Adam’s apple bob. “I was wondering...” he pauses, and your hearts starts thudding against your rib cage.
“How would you feel about marrying me?” JImin asks, eyes searching yours.
You don’t give him any moment of hesitation or uncertainty. You’re already pressing a kiss to his lips before your remember directing your body to do so. “I’d want nothing more!” you murmur as you part.
“Good,” he laughs, nuzzling your neck as you hold him close. “Now I won’t have to return the ring I bought you.”
✽ ✽ ✽
After you wave off the party that evening, Taehyung being the last to leave as per usual, Jimin pulls you into the living room, where the remains of the party still linger in the form of dishevelled decorations, and the last crumbs of the snacks you baked.
“Well, did I manage to out do all the Halloweens you’ve had?” Jimin asks as you both snuggle up on the sofa.
“You definitely have,” you assure him, “I mean… you proposed to me!”
“Well, I guess I’ll just have to do even better by actually marrying you next year,” he retorts.
“October wedding?”
“Definitely.”
“I’d like that a lot.”

PROLOGUE | CHAPTER 1
Tumblr media
Birds tweeting, sun shining…
Big strong arms around you.
“Well, well, Wells,” you say with a scratchy morning voice and twist your body around in bed to see who’s got you in his grasp. Ah. “Good morning, Harry.”
“Good morning, (Y/L/N),” the scientist replies. You just love how strands of his hair stick up in place. Harry arguably has the best bedhead.
“You know dear, since we are married after all, don’t you think it would be more acceptable to call me by my first name?”
Harry chuckles and pulls you closer against him.
“You do raise a fair point. (Y/N).”
“That’s more like it.”
He kisses your nose. Shortly after he does, it starts to feel itchy. You feel like you’re about to sneeze. It wiggles and wiggles until—
“Achoo!”
Suddenly, Harry, who had been clad in his silky pyjamas is now- oh my.
“(Y/N), did you just sneeze my clothes away?”
You can hardly answer the Wells in your bed because you’re so enthralled by his lack of clothing under the sheets.
“Happy accident?” you offer innocently. Harry shakes his head and smiles as if to signify that you’re up to your old antics again.
“Come here, you,” he says and pulls the covers over you both.
* * * *
The scene is really quite comical.
Harry walks briskly with his long legs into work at S.T.A.R. Toys Manufacturing Inc. as you try to keep up with quick little steps and a clipboard… while H.R. trails behind you like a maniac with a tray of coffee.
“(Y/N), I believe you have some explaining to do,” Harry speaks to you over his shoulder. “Can you remind me why you’re at work with me? And why the numbskull, too?”
“Handsome numbskull!” H.R. jokingly clarifies. Harry rolls his eyes.
“I told you, honey,” you begin, “I decided it would be best for me to get a job instead of sitting around the house. Plus, an assistant here was the only position available. I thought that was terribly convenient. We can spend more time together now, isn’t that wonderful? As for H.R., I hired him as my assistant!”
“My assistant has an assistant?”
“Don’t question it, honey,” you tell him and pat him on the cheek. Just then, two young employees walk up to you. They look rather familiar, but you can’t place why at the moment.
“Good morning, Mr. Wells,” the pair greet Harry. “And Mrs. Wells. ...And Mr. Wells.”
“Ah, good morning Garcia. Runk,” Harry answers. “I trust your projects are coming along?”
“That they are, Sir,” the young man called Runk replies.
“We should have them finished and ready by end of day,” Garcia, the young woman, adds.
“I’m glad to hear it-”
“-Well done, chaps!” H.R. interrupts. “You’re all doing such magnificent work. All for the children.”
“All for the children,” Garcia and Runk agree.
Harry clears his throat and whispers to you, “I think assistants to the assistants should be seen and not heard.”
“I’ll have a little chat with him,” you tell your handsome boss husband. “Now, let’s build some toys!”
* * * *
After a long day at the factory, you, Harry, and H.R. all return home. The delicious scent of dinner greets you as you walk in the door.
“Mmm, I wonder what Sherloque and Nash are cooking up!” you think out loud.
“I hope it’s nothing French,” Harry says semi-bitterly.
“H.R., can you go see what they’re up to in there, sweetie?”
“I most certainly can, dearest!” he responds then disappears into the kitchen. You are sure to take this opportunity to have some more one-on-one time with Harry on the couch. As you sit, he sets his briefcase down on the coffee table and removes from it a small rocket ship. After turning it around in his hands, Harry hands it to you.
“I’d been working on this today,” he says.
“Oh Harry, it is so groovy. You do such fine work.”
“The idea came to me in a dream.”
“You make dreams come true for children every day.”
Harry turns to you. “I think I’ve always wanted kids. But I guess it’s never happened for me.” He looks into your eyes. “I think I’d like to have one with you someday, (Y/N). How do you feel about that?”
“I feel… I feel…” Your nose starts to wiggle again. “Achoo!”
“(Y/N), are you sure you’re feeling okay?”
“Oh, yes, I’m completely and totally, whoaaaa!” You stand up to get a better look at yourself, finding that your tummy has a noticeable roundness to it.
“Are you…?” Harry asks. The rest of the Wells men come rushing into the living room.
“Qu’est-ce qui se passe?”
“I heard another sneeze!”
“Jumping juniper, (Y/N)’s pregnant!”
They all group around you in a half-circle to admire your belly and to declare their delight at the very abrupt surprise.
“Is this really happening?” you ask all of them, falling deeper and deeper into your happiness.
“I couldn’t imagine a better life with you,” Harry says and punctuates his final word with a kiss. Everything about this moment just seems… so much more colourful and vibrant.
And perfect.
~ ~ ~ ~
Barry had urgently messaged Cisco and Caitlin to meet him back at the Grand Central City Auditorium, where they had just seen Zatanna’s magic act. The plan—what very little of a plan he had—was to race to find Zatanna, the Mistress of Magic, and ask for her help.
Word on the street was that Miss Zatara’s act wasn’t mere illusions. People have said that she really does possess a special magical power. And if this was the case, she was their only hope to retrieve you from whatever world you’ve gotten yourself into.
They say sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
Well, now Team Flash is going to fight magic with magic.
It took a bit of making a scene inside the venue with the security guards for Zatanna to finally come out of her dressing room to see who was causing the commotion.
“Hi, excuse me, what’s going on here?”
“Zatanna? My name is Barry Allen,” your brother introduces himself. “I was at your show tonight.”
“Flawless,” Cisco can’t help but add.
“Sure,” she says, probably very much wanting him to get to the point. “How can I help you, Barry Allen?”
“We have a bit of a magical issue. My sister has gotten herself into a situation. We need your help.”
Zatanna’s big round eyes squint slightly, but whatever she sees in these three strangers surely isn’t threatening.
“Your sister, you say?” The Mistress of Magic always did have a soft spot for family. “Where is she?”
“You better come with us and see for yourself.”
~ ~ ~ ~
“Wow, this is quite the setup,” Zatanna says, taking in the Cortex upon her arrival. “Now, you said that your sister is broadcasting her own sitcom?”
“That’s right,” Barry confirms. “I switched on the TV earlier, and there she was in black and white. But the weird thing is that her set looked almost identical to her home, except not because her real home exploded-”
“Yeah, that’s the weird bit,” Cisco pipes up sarcastically. “Definitely not that she’s married to four different versions of the same man.”
“What?” Zatanna looks entirely confused. “Okay, you guys are going to have to catch me up.”
“No problem. The episode is streaming online. On repeat.”
“Cisco, pull up the show on the monitors,” Barry orders. The engineer does so, and the crew proceeds to analyze the sitcom episode.
“This man... or these men, rather—you said they died?” Zatanna asks the room. The rundown the gang gave her on the way to S.T.A.R Labs was quite rushed, so naturally it would only generate more questions.
“That’s right. I saw them disappear before my eyes,” Barry confirms. “They sacrificed themselves for us.”
Zatanna hums in thought. “Whether they’re truly dead or not, she must be using an incredible amount of magic to create this world and broadcast this across the airwaves.”
“Guys!” Caitlin raises her voice. “We have an incoming broadcast!”
The monitors change after a bit of static. Now, instead of the episode Team Flash was watching, a brand new jingle comes through the speakers.
“Is this…?” Barry starts.
“She released Episode Two!” Cisco cheers. Everyone in the room shoots him a look. “What? I’m invested.” As they watch the new episode, they take frantic notes, searching for any kind of clues.
“Look!” Barry points at the screen to the familiar faces.
“How did Allegra and Chester get in there?” Caitlin wonders.
“They have a guest-starring role…” Cisco notes, possibly with a hint of jealousy.
“And who are they?” Zatanna inquires.
“They’re our friends,” Barry clarifies. “At least, I think they are. They can't be illusions, can they? Created by (Y/N)?”
“I’ll call them and see if we can hear their phones ringing in the show,” Caitlin suggests. As she attempts the call, the rest of the team stands and stares at the screens hoping for some form of ringing sound. This episode seemed to be styled more in the Sixties, so it was unlikely that they’d actually see Chester and Allegra pull out a cell phone.
Nothing. No sound.
They must not have their phones on them…
A little while longer passes, with even more analyses by Team Flash and Zatanna studying your power on screen. Once in a while, she’ll ask Barry for background information about you. Which brings her to ask the all important question:
“How did (Y/N) get her powers?”
Barry goes on to explain your origin story, which coincides with his own. It was that one fateful night where Barry was in his CSI lab at CCPD, and so were you. You had stopped by to see how he was doing after the whole debacle of Iris getting her laptop stolen and Eddie saving the day instead. (To Barry’s credit, he tried really hard to catch the criminal, he just wasn’t fast enough). But you were checking up on him when the Particle Accelerator exploded and sent a wave of extraordinary, uncontained power across the city. You saw the lightning in the sky and tried to get Barry away from holding that metal chain, but in doing so, you also got caught in the crosshairs of the accident. Your brother fell into the shelf of chemicals as the lightning struck at the same time you knocked over a box of evidence—stolen ancient crystals from the Central City Museum.
Zatanna takes in the story silently, nodding in the right places. She’s deep in thought when a voice comes from the entrance to the Cortex: “Hey guys, what’s going on in here?”
Barry rushes to the two younger members of Team Flash, Allegra and Chester. “How did you two get in there? How did you get out?”
“Get in where?” Allegra wonders.
“Come on! In (Y/N)’s sitcom,” Cisco says. “Did she send out a casting call or did she just tell you that you got the parts?”
Chester and Allegra glance at each other with identical furrowed brows.
“You really don’t know what happened, do you?” Caitlin asks them.
“What happened?” they reply in unison.
Cisco stands up immediately. “I’ll get the popcorn.”
As he replays the footage, both of the ‘guest stars’ shake their heads in disbelief.
“Wow, nope, don’t remember any of that,” Chester says.
“No,” Allegra agrees. “One minute I’ve got my feet up in the Lounge, and the next I’m here walking into the Cortex.”
“Interesting,” Caitlin muses. “Interesting, but beyond strange. It’s like they’ve been mind wiped of the experience. We need more answers.” The rest of the episode plays out to reveal the big cliffhanger at the end.
“(Y/N)’s going to have a baby?!” Cisco shouts. “Oh man, things just got real. I wonder who’s the father... You don’t think (Y/N) would turn her show into a Maury episode, do you?”
“Zatanna, is there anything you can do?” Barry asks desperately. “This is getting out of hand.”
“I can cast a locating spell. All I have to do is say the words of what I wish backward for it to take hold.” Zatanna readies herself. “(N/Y) etacol,” the magician utters with her eyes closed. Everyone in the room stands silent in case making any kind of noise would ruin whatever spell she has cast.
They hold their breaths.
“I’m getting something…” Zatanna says eventually. “It’s like a signal of sorts. I can see it in my mind. And it’s coming from… here.”
“What do you mean, ‘here’?” Barry presses.
“Here. As in S.T.A.R. Labs.”

prompt fill time! i got this prompt ages ago, i think when the show was still airing, and i just finished writing it in two days or so. it's turned out to be much longer than i intended, and i'm pleased about that. there is bye bye balloon date and a night spent in busan. warning for one instance of referenced internalised homophobia.
word count: 2294
read on ao3
enjoy!
-
Unfortunately sunny, the day reigns. There is a flyer slid cleanly under Jipurgi Law Firm’s door, inoffensive to the eye, nothing special. It is Chayoung who first takes note of it, hearing the paper flap as a draught sings through the office.
She stands in her heels, staring down at the complexity of colour, before she finds a very, very familiar face.
“Byeonhosa-nim,” Chayoung says, as she bends down and picks the flyer up, “You didn’t tell me you got another job.”
Vincenzo furrows his brows, leans back in his chair to observe what Chayoung’s got her hands on to make her hypothesise such a thing. He leans back far enough to catch sight of the flimsy flyer, distantly notices the Bye Bye Balloon logo, and in his shock, manages to tip his chair back entirely.
-
Minutes later, Vincenzo holds an ice-pack to the back of his head, seated at the table in the middle of the office. Chayoung sits at the head of the table and Mr Nam opposite him, the both of them eagerly awaiting an explanation while the flyer sits innocently on the table. Vincenzo can see his own tired face reflected back at him.
“Seokdo-hyung asked me to model for him,” Vincenzo mumbles.
Chayoung leans forward, her hands clasped together and forming a triangle with her forearms. “I didn’t hear you, could you repeat that?”
Vincenzo shoots her a dirty look, and replies with a scowl: “Seokdo-hyung asked me to model for him.”
“Wow,” Mr Nam nods. “Wow,” He repeats, and then he claps.
With a deadpan expression, Vincenzo hits his head with the ice-pack.
Chayoung bites her lips to hide a grin. “Modelling, then?”
“He said I owed him,” Vincenzo mutters. “You can see I’m not happy about it.”
Chayoung ignores him completely. Her massage toy materialises out of somewhere and taps him on the shoulder.
“Do you get a free ride if you modeled for them?”
Vincenzo glares first at the toy, then at Chayoung. “How would I know.”
“Tch.” She glares back. “I’m going to ask them.”
Before Vincenzo has time to process what she’s saying, Chayoung skips out of the office. His panicked byeonhosa-nim! fails to reach her ears, and with a sigh he resigns himself to his fate.
-
It’s a week later that Chayoung drags him to spend a night in Busan, quite literally pulling him by the hand into the train at five-thirty AM. The one backpack of their shared necessities for one night slings heavily over his shoulders.
Seokdo-hyung had already started setting everything up at the port, or so he’d told them, when they’d called him last night. He also specified that they needed to arrive before nine in the morning, then he harped on about logistics of wind direction and whatnot, and Chayoung had put him off speaker and returned to going through Vincenzo’s cupboard.
Of course, she had shown up at his place uninvited, and of course, he let her do whatever she wished.
And so were the consequences: one bad cup of espresso at the train station and three hours in-and-out of sleep aboard the train. Chayoung shakes him awake fifteen minutes before they arrive, something unmistakably soft in her eyes as he removes his head from her shoulder.
“You’re like a cat,” She tells him, smile mild and indulgent. When he asks her to, she refuses to elaborate on it. “You just are.”
-
Chayoung takes his hand the moment they get off the train. Vincenzo stares down at their joint hands, then at Chayoung’s face, an obvious question in his raised eyebrows.
“You’ll get lost,” She explains. “I bet you’ve never been to Busan before.”
Vincenzo opens his mouth, always ready to argue with her, before he realises that she’s actually right. “I haven’t,” He acquiesces. “Lead the way.”
When Chayoung grins at those words, there is a blush high on her cheekbones, reflecting in the morning sunlight. Vincenzo wants to kiss her.
-
So it turns out Seokdo-hyung is actually competent at his work, for he had everything prepared when Vincenzo and Chayoung arrived on site, still holding hands. He had nothing to say to that.
“I’ll take you for a nice ride around the coast, but since you both aren’t actually using our service, you get none of the on-flight snacks and we’ll come down before we use up too much fuel. Clear?”
“Clear!” Chayoung exclaims, determined in the sharpness of her eyes. Vincenzo just nods.
Seokdo-hyung claps his hands together, then gestures for them to get on, scampering on once the both of them are standing in the basket. They’re high up in no time, Busan’s urban landscape majestically below them.
“I usually don’t do this,” Seokdo-hyung starts up, after they drift for a few minutes. “But it’s difficult to get licensed to pilot this, so I’m glad I can put my skills to use.”
“You have a very mysterious past, Mr Nutria,” Chayoung calls from across the basket. “How random is a hot air balloon license.”
“Ah,” Seokdo-hyung stares out into the distance, exclaims somewhere between wistful and egoistic. “I’m full of surprises.”
Vincenzo and Chayoung share a smile. Vincenzo shifts closer, so that they’re both sharing the same view, shoulder to shoulder.
“I’ve never seen something like this,” Chayoung tells him, voice soft. She leans into his shoulder to be heard, Vincenzo automatically leaning down to accommodate her.
“Me neither.”
Chayoung laughs, airy and giddy, her eyes on his face for just a second before she continues to take in the scenery. “It’s nice up here, isn’t it?”
Vincenzo blinks softly at her. “Mm. It’s a little cold, but yes, nice. Very nice.”
“You always underdress because you want to look cool,” Chayoung tuts. “I expected this.”
Vincenzo, who has never been so perceived and so personally affronted, only stares mutely as she produces a woolen scarf from her handbag. Before he has the opportunity to ask her exactly how she managed to stuff it in her bag, she’s throwing it around his neck, wrapping it tightly.
“Too - too tight,” Vincenzo winces, as Chayoung pulls the ends of the scarf; constricting his throat.
Chayoung’s eyebrows shoot up in alarm, then fall back down in annoyance as Vincenzo grins at her. She shoves his shoulder.
“Idiot,” Chayoung huffs, pointedly looking away from him.
“Wouldn’t it be funny,” Vincenzo starts, placating her with a hand on her shoulder, “If you managed to kill me like that?”
“You’re seriously asking to be killed now,” Chayoung replies, diluted astonishment. “With your mother’s scarf, too. You’re very dedicated to giving yourself a horrible end.”
“That won’t be a horrible end,” He says, toys with the scarf around his neck. “At least, not for me.”
“Not after all you’ve done?”
Vincenzo exhales and bites the flesh of his lower lip. Then he nods at Chayoung.
Chayoung drapes an arm over his shoulder. “Then we’ll go together.”
“Byeonhosa-nim —”
“We’ll go together,” Chayoung vows, leaving no room for argument.
-
Early evening, Seokdo-hyung has already made his way back to Seoul. Vincenzo and Chayoung have since walked enough to exhaust themselves and eaten too much off the streets of Busan to need dinner. Chayoung still stops him by a convenience store near the Hyatt, and puts two packets of ramen’s worth of bills on his credit card.
“I spent all my money treating you,” Chayoung explains, when Vincenzo holds his mouth open and eyebrows raised throughout the billing process. “Be grateful.”
“On no, of course,” Vincenzo sarcastically inclines his head. “It’s not like I’ve been carrying your luggage the whole day.”
He still holds the door open for her when they exit.
“If it’s too much for your old, weary shoulders, I’ll carry the bag.”
“When we’re outside the hotel?” Vincenzo smiles his fake smile while looking up at the building. “Thank you for your kind offer, byeonhosa-nim.”
Chayoung smiles back smugly.
-
Well, turns out she wanted him to suffer more.
“There’s only one bed.”
Chayoung just shrugs. Vincenzo scrunches his brows.
“Where will I sleep?”
“On the bed,” She replies.
“And where will you sleep?”
“On the bed.”
“Byeonhosa-nim,” Vincenzo begins, but he doesn’t know where he’s going with it. “Byeonhosa-nim.”
“Byeonhosa-nim,” Chayoung parrots back. “Is it a problem?”
Between Vincenzo’s quiet crisis over the bed and his stuttering, Chayoung has very happily dug her clothes and toiletries out of the backpack.
“I’m going to change,” She calls over her shoulder. “Don’t just stand there.”
Vincenzo, who had been planning to just stand there for a good few minutes more, does not budge an inch. In fact, he’s in the same position when Chayoung returns from the bathroom, mouth minty and feet bare.
“Byeonhosa-nim,” She says softly. “Is it really a —”
“Byeonhosa-nim,” Vincenzo interrupts her. “Can I kiss you?”
-
When the sun announces the first of its presence, it’s palpable through the translucent curtains of the hotel room. Chayoung awakens from her catnap against Vincenzo’s shoulder, her hair draped over his chest. She hums, content, runs a hand over his torso, eventually settling on the curve of his waist and clutching.
“You’re awake?” Vincenzo’s dry voice sounds from above her. “Did you sleep well?”
Chayoung smiles up at him. “Very well.”
Vincenzo responds in kind; he holds her by the waist, guiding her slightly upwards for a kiss.
“You would, after you exhausted yourself like that.”
“Why do I get the feeling you talk to all your hook-ups like that?” Chayoung wonders while she lightly traces his jaw with her free hand. “Is this how you usually do this?”
“This isn’t a hook-up to me.”
“No?” Chayoung’s fingers stop shy of his lips.
“No,” Vincenzo confirms, bends down to kiss her fingers. “It’s much more than that.”
She sighs against his chest. “For me, too. You’re not a hook-up.”
Vincenzo kisses her forehead.
“But…”
“But?”
Chayoung hides her face in his neck. “But I won’t say this is some first love thing either.”
That draws a laugh out of him. “First loves are overrated anyway.”
Chayoung peers at him. “Sounds like there’s a story behind that.”
Vincenzo tilts his head to look at her. Chayoung gets the hint, lazily boosting herself up on her forearms. Vincenzo, freed from his entrapment, takes a moment to relieve the cricks in his neck, then sits back against the headboard of the bed. Chayoung drapes the sheets over her shoulders and sits beside him.
“Back in Italy,” Vincenzo starts, after retrieving his lighter from his bedside, “There was this upperclassman at my high school. He was also Korean. He used to tutor me, in our school’s library, every Wednesday evening.”
Vincenzo clicks the lighter open and shut a couple of times.
“I realised I liked him and I had a crisis about it, like any fourteen-year-old would. I definitely detested that part of me for a good while. It wasn’t — isn’t something that was exactly… orthodox. And to a fourteen-year-old, no matter what you’ve seen, when you discover something for yourself, it’s always pretty monumental. So I… I tried to avoid him for a few weeks, but he found me each time, and he’d speak my mother tongue and cajole me into a better mood. He never asked what had me so down.”
Vincenzo closes the lighter and holds his thumb down.
“I thought of him day and night. The more I made myself avoid him, the more I’d think of meeting him, the more I met him, the more I’d want to see him again. It was like that. But that wasn’t why I really thought of him as my first love, I think. It was after he graduated, he gave me a present, a letter. He said he was proud of me. And then…”
“And then he left?”
Vincenzo looks at Chayoung with a reluctant smile. He nods.
“That’s when I knew I loved him. His absence hurt like my mother had abandoned me again.” Vincenzo swallows. “But you know how it is for fourteen-year-olds. I did forget him. I did forget that part of my identity as well. But I like to keep him in my memory. He was kind to me, I was so much more naive. It’s nice to remember him, because I can remember a different me. It’s somewhat a tribute to Park Joohyung, the boy I once was. Before my world changed forever.”
Vincenzo swallows into the silence once again. Chayoung sighs.
“I can’t compete with that.”
A laugh, punched out, but a laugh nonetheless. “This isn’t a competition.”
Chayoung sighs again, leans against his shoulder until her cheek is squished against it. “My first love was this boy who used to walk to the bus stop with me. He always had some kind of candy on him, and he always shared it with me.”
“How Pavlovian.” Vincenzo drily remarks.
“What did I say? Nothing that can compete with your sob story.”
Vincenzo scoffs lightly. “We won’t end up like that.”
“We won’t,” Chayoung agrees. “We’re old now.”
Vincenzo bends his head so that they’re eye to eye. “Your timing is horrible.”
“What? Were you going to confess your undying love to me or something?”
Vincenzo’s mouth hangs open in affront.
“You were,” Chayoung says, then covers her mouth with her hand. “Oh my god, you were.”
“You ruined the moment,” Vincenzo curtly informs her. “Forget it.”
“You can’t do this to me —”
“I can,” He decides, and sits with his arms crossed and mouth sealed shut.
“Come on.”
“Byeonhosa-nim.”
“Vincenzo Cassano.”
“... Jagiya?”
That makes him look at her.
“I love you,” Chayoung seizes the opportunity. “Now say it back.”
Disgruntled cat that he is, it takes more than one try to get Vincenzo to say it back. But once he starts, he doesn’t stop.

BTS at a Carnival Date | Scenario/Imagine
Info: fluff & tiny angst
Pairing: BTSxReader
Warnings: Alcohol, drunkenness, fainting
A/n: Loved doing this request! I loved the idea of a fun carnival vibe, though through writing, I don’t think I’ve ever been to an actual carnival! Can you believe that? Haha, I’m hoping my imagined idea is good enough! I’m picturing like brazil-carnival-colourfulness, like Rio carnival, which may be a little stereotypical, but I love the idea of this kind of energy!
NOTE: Y/F/N = Your friend's name and Y/F/BF = Your friend's boyfriend.
If you would like to make a request for a scenario, imagine, reaction, mtl, ship, or anything really take a look at my faq, and then drop me a request.
Song rec: Carnival B.A.P
Tumblr media
Jin
You and Jin had wandered around the carnival for a few hours; the crowd had spread to the side street parties after the main procession. There were so many people around still, drinking, eating, dancing, and generally having fun. It was even beginning to get dark, but the atmosphere was still so vibrant and lively.
“Should we head home soon?” Jin inquired, as you weaved in and out around people. You absolutely did not want the night to be over just yet.
“I’m kind of hungry actually, why don’t we get some food then head off?”
“Ooh, good idea,” he scanned the small and tightly packed street
“There’s a table over there. Let's grab it quick before it gets taken!”
“Good spot!” You said, rushing towards the space. Fortunately, you managed to get there before anyone else.
“We can’t leave this spot until we are ready to leave; it’ll get snatched up so quickly." He said, looking around at the crowd; it even seemed to be getting busier compared to before.
“Did you enjoy the carnival?” You asked him. You hadn’t been seeing each other for that long, a few weeks, really. You were still getting to know each other, so you didn’t know if your suggestion to go to the carnival was a good one.
“It was great Y/N, really!” He was all smiles, which made you smile too.
“Ah, I’m glad.” You took a sigh of relief hearing he had enjoyed the date.
“Remember that man in the procession, the one in all blue on the stilts?”
“Yeah! He was super impressive; I couldn’t dance wearing those!” You admit.
“I’d love to see you try!” You both laughed. You continued to talk about the carnival, and Jin, perhaps accidentally, suggested you should both go back the following year together.
“Together?” You repeated, you didn't mean to sound surprised, but deep down, you didn't expect for him to suggest it so confidently.
“Of course!” He says firmly, making you blush. You both ordered some food and continued to talk about everything and anything. The food arrived, and it was incredible! Street food is seriously the best.
Eventually, you were reaching the end of your meals, and Jin noticed your shift in mood.
“What’s wrong Y/N?”
“Oh, I just realised that once we’ve finished the food, we should probably leave. The thing is, I’m just having so much fun.” You admit.
“I suppose… We’ll have to get some dessert then?” He suggested with a smirk. He clearly didn’t want to leave either.
Jin left the table in your hands to get something sweet for the two of you, meanwhile you leant on the table, far more tired than you had realised. You were so zoned out, you didn't realise Jin had returned, only when you felt something pressed onto your nose, buttercream frosting! You wake up out of your daze in shock as Jin giggles.
“Wakey wakey!” He laughs uncontrollably.
“Oh no, you didn’t!” You said, grabbing a small piece of cake and flicking it towards him. He stared in shock as it hits him in the cheek and a mischievous look appeared on his face in response. He flicked another piece towards you and you again back to him.
“Food fight!” you hear someone from the next table shout, and within no time, food is flying everywhere, and the whole of the street party is taking part in the madness!
Once everything had calmed down, you and Jin fell into each other’s arms, exhausted from the long day and then the food fight. You notice Jin staring at your lips.
He leans in “Oh. You have something there…” and picks off a small piece of cake frosting from the side of your mouth with his, rather teasingly. He smirked “got it.”

Suga
Yoongi really was not vibing the atmosphere of the carnival. He was complaining a lot about anything and everything.
“It’s so loud.” He groaned.
“It’s just music and people having fun! Stop being so grumpy.” You replied; it was your idea to go to the carnival in the first place, and you didn’t appreciate his attitude.
“There are so many people, too many!” He added. You decided to just let him carry on and walk with him without. It was your idea to come to the carnival after all, so you weren’t going to let his sour mood ruin it.
You weaved about, walking slightly ahead of Yoongi. There were many food and trinket stalls dotted along the carnival route, slightly away from the main bulk of people. But you couldn't help but feel a little deflated; you were missing the main spectacle to keep him happy. You grabbed some food and stood at the side to eat as all the tables were taken. You attempted to make conversation, but you’re pretty annoyed with him yourself.
“This is so good!” He declared, the first positive he had said thing all day.
“Well, at least one of us is having a good time.” You joked sarcastically, not really paying attention, trying to see the floats over the crowd. Your tone caught his attention, and he finally noticed you looking longingly at the procession and understood what his constant comments had done.
“Y/N, I’m sorry.” He looked at you. “I was just hungry, and it's hot. I shouldn’t have complained so much…” he trailed off a little.
“Don’t worry,” you sigh, “It’s not really your sort of thing anyway, is it?”
“That shouldn’t matter. I should have tried more; you wanted to come here, so I should have tried harder, for you.” He said earnestly.
“Let’s try and squeeze our way through? See what's going on?” He suggested, finishing up the food quickly.
“Are you sure?” you asked, and he nodded enthusiastically in response, a complete mood 360; I guess the food gave him a boost of energy.
You both try weaving through the spectators, but it’s no good; the crowd lining the procession is way too dense. Defeated, you decide to give up, but Yoongi knew it was pretty much his fault you didn’t get a spot earlier.
“Ah! I have an idea!” He said as he looks around “Stay right here for a minute, don’t move an inch!”
You stand there for a while wondering what he has up his sleeve, until he returns with a wide smile.
“Follow me!” He said excitedly, grabbing your hand and leads you to a nearby café. Confused, you follow him inside and up to the upper floor. The large room was cool away from the sun, and two glass doors that opened to a balcony with a perfect view of the carnival below. “Much better, huh? I think this is the best view.” He said, leading you out to look down at the procession, putting his arms around you as you both lean on the balcony rail and watch, away from all the crowds and commotion.
“I guess this way it’s the best of both worlds.” You laugh, leaning back into his chest. He really is good at making up for any moodiness. “Remind me to make the most of post-hangry Yoongi again! He's far more romantic than normal!”
Tumblr media
J-Hope
Hobi would be so, so excited to be going on a date to the carnival; he’d literally be even more smiley and excitable than usual! He’d dress up pretty “loud,” if you get what I mean, and he would really embrace the day and overall vibes. It’s a place you can both fully immerse yourselves with music, dancing, and fun – his ideal date, really. I feel like he'd be the most likely one to plan this day solely by himself too.
The floats began to pass by gradually as the main part of the carnival began. You were both locked together, and he was pointing out anything and everything excitedly to you; it was such a rush to the senses.
“Ohh, look at that!” He said excitedly.
"How do they do that?" You said, staring at the float passing by.
“Look at that guy’s outfit!”
"He's so flashy!" You laugh together.
"I'd totally wear that." He said, leaning his head onto yours as you continue to look upon the brightly lit festivities.
"You'd look great too." You said matter-of-fact.
"You think so?" He asked excitedly.
"You look good in everything!" You replied, making him squeal cutely.
Suddenly, Hobi's expression changes, as the music, good music began to get louder and louder, more upbeat. You see his expression shift from joy, to curiosity, to a wide-eyed look nodding his head towards the road.
Before you know it, he had pulled you out into the procession, and he was shaking his hips like he’s part of the carnival from the beginning. Of course, he was encouraging you to dance too, you were just laughing at him and the situation. You had just been watching so peacefully, and now you were right in the middle of everything. At that point, what did you have to lose? You danced with him, and, for the most part, blended in with everyone else, but to the two of you, it was as if you are the only two there.
His eyes light up when he sees a nearby bloat with bright glittering lights, and you already know what he’s thinking.
“You can’t!” You said.
“Oh, I definitely can try!” He replied cheekily, giving you a mischievous smile. You couldn't help but cringe at his confidence; you really didn't understand how he did it. He disappeared behind the float, and you walked tentatively alongside, expecting him to come back disappointed, but next thing you know, he emerged atop the float, waving at you to come closer. You approached, so many people’s eyes are on the two of you now. He held out his hands.
“Come on! Get on with me!" And you did, because why the heck not? It was carnival after all, and you were there to have a good time! Somehow the two of you were receiving some of the most cheers from the crowd, or Hobi’s dance moves were at least!
“I can’t believe you!” You said, leaning towards him.
“You love it! Isn’t this way more fun than just watching?” He asked; you couldn't help but agree.

You and Joonie had planned your whole vacation around this one day, you had never experienced a large-scale carnival like this, and you were both so excited. However, there was one issue, the traffic was mad!
You hadn’t really thought about the people, just the celebration. You both sat in the taxi, facing away from one another in silence for a while. You knew how irritated he could get when things didn’t go to plan, so you thought it was best to just remain quiet to avoid an argument.
“I’m sorry,” he finally piped up; you looked at him questioningly. “I should have thought of this; I didn’t think it would be this crazy.”
“It’s fine! We didn’t know.” You assure him. “It’s as much my fault, really don’t beat yourself up over it.” His expression didn’t shift. He began to talk with the taxi driver, seeing how easy it would be to turn around to head back to the hotel.
Defeated, you glanced out of the window and noticed other people abandoning their cars and approaching the carnival on foot. “Wait, don’t turn around!” You suddenly insisted, making both Namjoon and the taxi driver jump. “How long would it take to get there on foot?”
The driver explained it would take about a twenty-minutes to walk, if you were quick and told you a few shortcuts to take too.
“Come on!” You said, grabbing NamJoon’s hand. “If we run, we might make it for the big finale!”
“I don’t know, it’s quite far…” He said, looking in the direction of the carnival. He glanced at you and then his frown shifted to a smile “Do you know what? We’re on vacation! Why not?”
“Yes! Amazing, we’ll have to be quick, though!”
He flashes you a competitive look, a look you know well. “I’ll race you.” He said with a smirk.
“Oh, it’s on, Joonie!” You said back, “be prepared to lose.”
“Hah! We’ll see about that!” He said, grabbing the car door handle, making you do so also reflexively. You both exited the taxi (You paid the driver dw!) and began to run. NamJoon kept grabbing you from behind to sabotage you when you overtook him, and you could hardly run with the laughter between the two of you.
Fortunately, you managed to make it in time, and you managed to beat him too!
“I think looser has to buy drinks.” You insisted, out of breath.
“Hey, that wasn’t part of it.” He replied, also puffed out.
“Well, I’ve just decided that it is.” You said with a smirk and he nodded.
“Whatever you say, speedy.”
You wandered around for ages after the carnival was over, cooling down in the evening breeze. It was absolutely brilliant, more than you had imagined it to be, albeit a somewhat different experience.
Tumblr media
Jimin
You had been stood now for a while, and you were cursing yourself for not buying that drink when you saw the seller just a while earlier. It was so hot, and you were feeling a little overwhelmed by all the people, colours, noise. It was a sensory overload.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Jimin asked you once again, noticing your change of expression. You really didn’t want to let on that you were uncomfortable, so faked a bright smile.
“Sorry! I was just zoning out there.” You lied. He giggled at you before putting his arm around your shoulder affectionately. He returned his gaze to the floats and sways of people passing you by. Jimin would point out little details, but you couldn’t really focus and found yourself feeling very dizzy and lightheaded. He was so engrossed in the carnival procession, especially the dancing, and you were trying your best to be all smiles and play your part, but the sun shone down hot and heavy onto your head. Someone bumped into you both from behind, pushing you forward slightly.
“Woah, watch where you’re going!” You think you heard Jimin say, but that’s when the world started spinning, and your vision blacked out entirely.
You woke up away from the crowd a little, laying on your back. You weren't sure how long you had been out of it, but the atmosphere was still busy, and the air was still warm.
“Drink this Y/N! You’re okay, it’s okay. I’ve got you.” You heard a familiar voice trying to comfort you from above, but you could hear the slight panic in his voice too.
“I’m okay, I’m okay!” you said, trying to sit up, but Jimin held you back.
“Not so fast! I don’t want you fainting again!” You complied, leaning back into his embrace. He leant forward, fanning your face with a pamphlet for the carnival.
“I’m sorry,” you said, defeated. “I really wanted you to enjoy the carnival, but there were so many people, and it was so hot and-“
“-It’s okay!” Jimin said, cutting you off. “Really, I’d much rather you were okay than anything.” You sighed in agreement, with a pang of disappointment through you.
“I’m really okay now. Let’s go back and watch the rest.” You insisted.
“Oh, no way! I asked some guy to go and find a medic. You’re not moving an inch until they get here.” You couldn’t help but love how protective he was. Just a short while before, he was engrossed in the carnival, but now it was like you were the only thing that mattered to him in the world, as you lay in his arms.
The medic came, gave you the all-clear after a while, noting it was probably heat exhaustion. Jimin promised to take better care of you from then on, and you hated how he seemed to blame himself for not taking more notice when you aren't as cheery as he had expected watching the carnival. You tried to insist on returning to catch the end of the procession, but he wouldn’t let you leave the seat they had found for you. You were all pouty and felt undeniably guilty for ruining the day.
“I won’t let you stand and watch, but I suppose I could carry you?” He said, turning around and holding his arms outstretched for a piggyback.

It was your first date with TaeHyung, and you were really regretting your choice of location. You had only just arrived, but you were already struggling to hear each other or even walk next to each other it was so crowded.
“Why don’t we go over there? It looks a little quieter,” you queried.
“Sorry, what did you say?” he asked, leaning in towards you to hear you better.
“Oh, um, I said-“
“-Why don’t we go over there?” He interrupted, not hearing you. “It seems a bit less busy.”
You nodded in agreement and made your way towards a slightly more open space. It was no use, every time you tried to talk; something stopped the two of you from hearing each other; the band passing by, a child crying, two people stood near you laughing. You were beginning to worry it would ruin your chance with him altogether; a first date is enormously important after all.
“Are you hungry? Thirsty?” He asked you, shouting a little to be heard.
“I could have something,” you replied.
“Cotton candy?” he asked, pointing at a vendor.
You headed over together. He ordered one cotton candy and a bottle of water for each of you. You walked around the parameter of the carnival sharing the sweet treat; it was a little easier to hear each other there but still not good.
“Thank you for buying that. I’ll get the next thing,” you insisted, he laughed.
“It’s lively, isn't it? The carnival.”
“Yeah…” You looked around awkwardly. “I’m sorry.”
He stopped walking, turning towards you. “Why are you apologising? I don't mind it.”
“Because it’s such a bad choice for our first date, we can’t even speak.”
“Hmm, how can we fix this…” He thought hard, “Ah! I know,” He placed his arm around you swiftly, pulling you in close to him. “This is better right?” You panicked internally but tried hard not to let it show. You just nodded; after all, it was a lot easier to hear each other, if nothing else.
You continued, now far closer than before. As you walked, you spotted a group of kids dancing to the carnival band down a small side street away from the crowd. You giggle, looking at them having fun; Tae took note.
“Hey, you guys have some great moves!” He complimented them, approaching them “Do you think you could teach us how to dance like that?”
“Yeah! We’ll teach you!” The smallest one replied eagerly, pulling at his hand “you can be my partner.”
“Oh, I actually want to be Y/N’s partner, see she’s my date for today, and I wouldn't want her to be upset if I danced with someone else.”
“Ohhh, you’re on a date!” The kids replied in unison, eyeing the two of you.
"You’re really cute together!” The little one said with a wide grin. “That’s okay, I’ll dance with my brother, and we’ll show you, just copy us, okay?”
“That sounds great!” He replied to the kids, who had gotten very excited to teach two grown-ups their dance.
Tae took you by the hands, and sort of following your instructors, you danced together, laughing constantly.
“You two! Hurry up, the main float is coming!” A woman’s voice sounded behind you, the kid’s mother presumably.
“Ow, but we wanted to stay here!”
“No, come along now!” she insisted.
“I guess we have to go now.” The girl pouted.
“Well, thank you for teaching us your dance moves!” You said, leaning down to her “you’re a great teacher.” You held out both your hands for high fives, and she perked up slightly. Her brother high fived you too, and Taehyung held his hands to them too.
The kids left the side street leaving just Tae and yourself behind and suddenly the quiet between you seemed even louder than any noise from the whole day so far.
“We could stay here and dance some more?” Taehyung suggested, breaking the awkward space between you and stepped forward, holding his hands out to you again.
“I’d like that.” You admitted and took his hands once again. You began to dance, only he held you slightly closer this time…

Jungkook*
You and JungKook approach the carnival hand in hand; you were so excited. You noticed he seemed a little quiet, but it was the first time he was meeting your friend, one of your best friends from when you were kids too. You had arranged for him to meet her at the carnival; in theory, taking some of the awkwardness away. Plus, she was bringing her boyfriend too, so there was someone for Jungkook to get on with, and he wasn’t left out while the two of you caught up. You spotted them first and ran excitedly towards them. You had known your friend for years, and didn't mind her boyfriend, though you never really saw just what she saw in him.
“This is him then! Nice to meet you Jungkook, I’m Y/F/N” She said holding out her hand to shake, you instinctively laughed at her formality.
He shook it tentatively with a slight giggle. “Nice to finally meet you. I’ve heard a lot!”
“Good things,” you assured her, as your friend shot you a worried look. “Of course! Always good things.”
“So, this is the most recent addition to your long list of lovers then Y/N?” Your friend’s boyfriend joked, mocking your tragic lack of romance in the past, which he and your friend were all too aware of.
“Long list huh?” Jungkook asked surprised looking at you, you thought you saw a speck of jealousy but shrugged it off, he already knew your history, you had both been very open from the start.
“Ha! Yeah, as if!” You scoffed.
The four of you headed towards the carnival, where people are already gathering for the main procession along the main route. You all stood together, you and your friend reminiscing about old times. Jungkook listened to your old stories attentively, laughing along, while your friend's boyfriend wasn't really paying much interest. You looked towards Jungkook, who was staring at your friend's boyfriend as his girlfriend spoke, you could now tell for sure he was a little annoyed towards him.
“Are you okay?” You asked in a lowered voice, so the other two didn’t hear.
“You're not close with T/F/BF?”
“Not really, no. The three of us went to school together but I didn’t really know him much until they started dating.” You assured him. "Why?"
“He seems... uninterested.” He said, trailing off.
“He was just joking earlier, about my love life, I promise you.”
“No, no, I trust you, Y/N, really. I just didn’t appreciate the joke, nor his general attitude.” He admitted.
“Well, he’s just a bit of an overly confident guy; he doesn’t know when a joke is too much.”
You continued to watch the carnival together and decide to head away from the crowd for a drink.
“How much of a lightweight are you then, Jungkook?” Your friend’s boyfriend asked mockingly as you approached a pop-up bar. Oh dear! You look at Jungkook, who rolls his eyes.
“You want to see?” He asked him confidently, not breaking eye contact.
“Oh my gosh! Yes! Drinking game!” Your friend said excitedly, and you groan.
“Really, are we doing this?” You ask. Jungkook shoots you a look you recognise. He’s getting competitive.
Many, many rounds later, Jungkook slammed the glass down first. He had downed that one easy while Your friend’s boyfriend was struggling. Your friend was rubbing his back for encouragement, but it was no good; he turned to throw up.
“I guess I won?” Jungkook said, standing up with a wide grin, leaning towards you for a victory hug.
“Wow! I didn’t know you could drink so much!” You said, kind of impressed.
“Yeah, I really can’t. Please help me stand up straight,” he said with a low laugh; he was leaning on you heavily.
Your friend helped carry her boyfriend off, and they went to grab a taxi home. You left Jungkook on the road curb while you went to get him some water. When you returned, you dropped down to sit next to him. The carnival was coming to an end and the crowds dispersed. He rested his head on your shoulder and let out a big exhale.
“I think I’ll need some help standing up.” He admitted with a drunken chuckle. You sighed but agreed to look after him. It was hardly the way you had wanted the day to go, but you couldn’t help but be proud he put your friend’s boyfriend in his place and won, so you’d let him off this time.
*Not implying Jungkook os a drunk or anything just FYI!

Dreaming
. . . .
A/N: It's been a while. I'm so tired but I needed to read/write something new. To see Jack Sloane again. And my self indulgent brain came up with this.
Sum:- When dreaming becomes too real.
. . . .
The smile that was spread across your lips was completely wiped away when you opened your eyes. There was nothing wrong with the day, it was Saturday, the weekend, it was a good day but your dream was a hundred times better.
It was still only seconds after the fairytale dream you were just experiencing. The detail was so real that when you rolled your head on your pillow and opened your eyes, you were expecting her to be there. She was there moments ago, why wasn't she there now? Your mind had painted her perfectly beside you, in your bed, in the morning light, peacefully sleeping beside you.
Usually the dreams were more edgey and naughtier than a simple morning daydream but this wasn't simple at all. This was bliss. The heartfelt feeling of waking up beside the person you loved most in this world, moments before they woke to see you smiling back at them. Your brain decided to wake you up seconds after your love opened her eyes and then yours shot open. To the real world.
The world where they person you love doesn't know anything about your feelings. They barely know you look at them twice when they walk by or smile whenever they walk into the room. At least you thought they didn't. She walked into your space every morning and your whole world felt right. It was such an overwhelming feeling that sometimes you felt wrong for feeling it but then she smiled at you and that thought faded away.
You pushed the dream and feeling away as you stretched under your sheets. Today you were meeting her at the markets, your usual weekend catch up away from work and grocery shop. You'd buy fresh veg and fruit at the markets then grab a coffee and treat with her before going your seperate ways for the weekend. The thought of seeing her brought back that ache you woke up with. You couldn't keep this up much longer. One day you'd slip up, mention something that happened in your dreams because it felt so real and she'd run away, scared. She didn't scare easily but this would definitely make her turn and run.
Morning, I'm up.
With the morning text sent, you still had the dream still at the forefront of your mind, you got up and hopped in the shower. There was no point pushing it away, it would stick around like all of them do. There was a beep from your phone as you dried yourself with a towel.
On my way, J
You smiled at the initial. She always did it even though she was saved into your phone from day one. Your friend mentioned she never signed off like that with her messages but it was just a letter after all. It seemed silly to you that a simple letter in a text message could mean something more but your brain liked to hang onto that as well.
The minutes passed by like hours as you got ready and collected everything you needed. You checked your front window too many times just in case she rocked up before she messaged you. She always messaged just as she pulled up so you knew.
"You look cute today." She greeted you with a bright smile as you slipped into her Mini Cooper.
There was no hiding the blush that coloured your cheeks. "Thank you. You look beautiful like always." You laughed trying to play off the massive compliment you usually don't let slip.
"Why thank you, I'd like to say I put some effort in this morning but I overslept and had to hurry to get here on time." She explained, pulling away from the curb.
You frowned, there had never been a set time. It was whenever you had both woken up that whomever was ready first would text to see if the other was coming. "You don't have to rush, it's our weekend, there's no schedule."
She thought about her words for a beat. "Yeah but the earlier I get up, the earlier I get to see... The bestest vegetables the farmers have to offer." She forced her classic cheeky smile so you would hopefully ignore the pause in her words.
You couldn't ignore the pause in her words. There was no way you could but you skipped over it in conversation. You continued on about what you were after this weekend, plans of meals you were planning on cooking. There was relief in her posture, her shoulders rolled back and your brain noted this.
She had been dancing around her words lately, if you were really being honest with yourself. You tried not to get your hopes up too high with it but she was pausing in her sentences more around you. Picking and rearranging her words. Like she was going to go down one road at the fork but skipped to the other at the last second. Eleanor had pointed it out on more than one occasion, thankfully when Jack had left, but you pushed it away as nothing.
The morning stroll through the market was peaceful, hardly anything off topic apart from what was right in front of you. She stuck to the topic at hand which wasn't unusual but usually you'd be onto other topics by now. It was like she was staying in safe territory or you were overthinking this completely.
She brushed by you as you were picking up some fruits, her fingers brushed yours, the touch sending sparks up your arm. You watched her flinch, her eyes darting to yours before, "I'm sorry, there wasn't-"
"Jack, there's nothing to apologize for. You've grabbed my hand on several occasions, bumped me more than that, why are you sorry now?"
"You're right. Wasn't thinking." She forced a smile and you heart slightly dulled. She walked away far too quickly for you to gage her reaction. Something was definitely off with her today.
You walked around the market in mostly silence after that, only saying which stalls you wanted to pop into and then once the shopping was done you walked side by side up to the last coffee stand at the end of the market.
"Two large black coffee's with three sugars." She slipped her card to the barista before you could fight her to pay.
You took a deep breath and touched the tips of your pointer and index finger to her palm. This silence was killing you and you needed to get her attention. You were testing how to start the conversation by the way she reacted to your touch.
"Hey, what?" She spun around ready to fight whoever touched her and you held in a laugh. "Was that you?" She half glared with a curl to her lips.
You nodded, "You've been ignoring me since the incident in the fruit stand."
She rolled her eyes at the word incident. "Dramatic much."
"Says the woman who's been keeping at least a metre radius of me and hasn't said more than five words to me since. What's up Jack?" You were far too cheery at the end of that question, like it wouldn't change the dynamic of your relationship henceforth.
The barista called her name so you guessed she'd use that as a distraction. She handed you, your coffee before she added even more sugar to hers. You laughed the first time you saw her do this, asked why she didn't ask the barista to do it for her but she couldn't handle the baristas judgement. You didn't believe it but let it slide. It was probably that the barista refused to tarnish good coffee with the sugar content she needed.
"The way you looked at me this morning, the way you look at me almost every morning. It sets something on fire with in me." She slipped her coffee like a can of worms hadn't just been unleashed and started walking. You didn't a double take and skipped to catch up. "You called me beautiful like it was the most natural thing in the world when-"
"It is, you are." You whispered, hiding behind your coffee cup as she stared at you. You were half expecting a sass for cutting her off but she did this shy shale of her head with a smile you hadn't seen before. Was she shy?
"There you go again. These feelings I have, I've had for a while... I don't want to ruin our.." She stopped at the bonnet of her car, placing her bag of food on the hood and you did the same.
This was all happening so fast. This wasn't how you imagined it going, you really hadn't imagined it going at all. This never happened, you never got to this point in your daydreams.
"Friendship?" She said it so hesitantly it made you laugh and for that you got a shove. "Say something - other than I'm beautiful."
"I'm glad you agree." You jumped out of the way of the next shove and took a sip to hide your massive grin.
"Smart ass. I've said a lot of feelings right now. You're making me nervous."
You take a step forward, placing your empty cup beside your bag and take hers from her hand. Slowly, giving her time to step away, you take her hands and hold them between you. "I had a dream this morning." The smile you had from your dream comes back, the feeling of bliss, comfort and love. You couldn't believe you are going to say what you thought you never would. "I was lying in bed..."
"Very imaginative." She holds your hands tighter so you can't break your hold and playfully shove her.
You just laugh and shale your head. "Nah those dreams are off limits." You wink and she throws her head back with a loud laugh.
"I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours." She gives you the mischievous grin you love.
Oh how you wanted to know hers. "I'm about to if you'd let me finish." She scrunches her lips shut to make a point. "Much better. As I was saying. I was lying in bed, I opened my eyes to a new day. The sun was shining into my bedroom, I rolled my head to the side and I was filled with pure bliss and a grounding I'd never felt before. There was this beautiful, stunning woman to my right. She was still asleep, hair tossed from a good night sleep and a small smile on her lips." You think you see tears in her eyes or maybe they're in yours. "That woman is you Jack. I woke up and the world came crashing around me, that I don't have that reality but I still smiled knowing I get to see you today and almost everyday at work." You pause and now you know you're the one crying because her hand slips out of yours and it comes up to wipe the tears from your cheeks.
"That's the most pure, heartfelt thing someone has ever said to me." She smiled, that smile you saw in your dream as her eyes fluttered open and saw you. Your heart skipped a beat. "I want that. All of it, with you." She learnt forward, hesitating a second before her lips met yours in the softest touch you'd ever felt. You weren't sure she was kissing you until the air in your lungs disappeared.
"Bit forward don't you think?" She was too confused, her brows furrowed as she pulled away. "To have you in my bed. Thought we'd have dinner first." You winked and her confusion disappeared and quickly became frustration. Something, you guessed, that would happen alot over the next week, months, years.
"Think your smart ass can handle lunch? I'm not ready to say goodbye just yet." She slipped her hand back into yours.
You smiled, leaning forward placing a more confident kiss to her lips before answering. "Think I can manage that." You beamed, getting another kiss in reply. This was going to be fun.

requested: yes, by anon
🔅thanks for requesting! i hope you like it 🥺 i’m so sorry it took so long, i wanted to take my time with it hehe🔅
a/n- from now on, i am not going to add gifs to reactions. i am aware that some gifs creators aren’t happy when people use them and so i don’t want to fuel their anger anymore as i can completely understand their point.
💙bx:
even though he was your boyfriend, you’d still never been to byounggon’s apartment. you’d always pictured what it would look like. probably lots of clothes, lots of colour, maybe some abstract art on the wall. he was always eager for you to come over but you didn’t want to intrude or overstay your welcome. plus you hadn’t been dating for that long and it just didn’t feel right yet.
“i’m going into town to pick up some stuff for lunch” you replied to byounggon’s whiney message asking what you were doing today.
“can’t you come over instead? i miss you” he replied in an instant. he must be bored, you thought, wrapping your favourite scarf around your neck and heading out.
you were closer to the shops than to your house when you felt a few droplets of rain splash onto your head, followed by many more. “a bit of rain never hurt anyone” you thought, continuing to walk. some time passed, your walking pace had gotten slower, your nose has gotten redder, and byounggon had gotten more anxious thinking you could be out there, catching a cold. a single clash of thunder and you were straight on the phone to your boyfriend. “okay i’ll come over now” you blurted out, half joking half not. he asked many times again and again just to confirm that you were indeed, coming over and until every sense of a joke had disappeared.
you arrived at his apartment looking like a drowned rat.
“cute” he patted your dripping wet hair as you entered. “there’s some clothes on the sofa” he shouted to you while shutting the door “you can change in the bathroom if you like. there’s a towel on the radiator too.”
you cautiously picked up the clothes and walked gingerly to his bathroom. while in there, you realised you didn’t even take in your surroundings, did it look like you’d imagined? you’d never imagined the toilet before so you couldn’t really say at this point but-. your thoughts were cut off by the sound of speakers crackling.
you went to see what the awful noise was, luckily you’d gotten dressed by this point but that didn’t even cross your mind.
“even cuter” he said, turning from his “music corner” to face you looking all cozy and warm in his oversized hoodie and sweats. you walked closer to him to see what song he was playing, it sounded familiar and less crackly than before.as you got closer his arms stretched out. the sleeves of his black hoodie covered his hands, which he soon pulled out to rest on your waist.
“can i kiss you?” he asked politely in a soft voice. you shyly nodded at him in response.
you leaned in and your lips met. his lips were a little chapped and yours weren’t in the best state either because of the weather, but it was definitely something you never wanted to forget. he didn’t rush it, but it wasn’t too slow either, it was filled with love and care. usually you’d curse the rain for ruining your plans, but today was an exception.
💛seunghun:
you weren’t even dating yet, but jfc everyone knew you would be soon. somehow you’d become friends with the popular guy, the one who sat with the IT girls for lunch, the one who could always be seen at festivals and concerts at the weekend, the one who everyone wanted to be with. it all started when you exchanged disgusted looks across the classroom when some delinquent said they ate banana on pizza, and from then, many snaps were sent, many seating plans were changed because he was “getting distracted” and he’d even started sitting with you and your friends some days for lunch, which the popular clique weren’t too impressed about.
you’d never been to his house before but that was about to change. you arrived at his front door and were greeted by two rather large dogs barking and a panicked seunghun. he hurried you upstairs since he gathered they could be pretty scary when you meet them for the first time. you sat on the edge of his bed after being told to make yourself comfortable.
here” he handed you his gaming controller “pick something to watch” you were quite relieved that he wasn’t going to make you play some weird game that you knew you’d lose at. instead you put on white chicks, which you had both seen numerous times before.
it wasn’t long before you both had gotten bored of the film and your phone battery was just a tiny red slither. footsie had been played countless times but you were enjoying each other’s company so you didn’t wanna announce that you were bored. before you knew it, seunghun had snatched your phone from your hands “i’ll charge it for you” he said, plugging it in.
there was nothing left to do other than mess with your nails. seunghun rolled onto his side and looked at you for a second before asking you “have you kissed many guys?” it was abrupt and you probably thought his intentions weren’t in the right place, but he couldn’t help what just came out of his mouth.
“a few” you responded. you picked at your nailed some more, staring at them like they were the most interesting thing in the world. “have you kissed many people?” you retaliated.
“some” he responded, rolling back onto his back. “do you maybe-“ this time he stopped to think before continuing “want one? from me i mean.”
you smiled to yourself before turning to face him. “sure”.
it didn’t last very long, his right hand was on your cheek while your left hand naturally found its way to the back of his neck. your cheeks were definitely bright red, but his temperature indicated that he was probably the same.
“you have no idea how long i’ve wanted to do that for” he smiled, pulling away. “so is this our first date?” he asked outright
“do you want it to be?” you avoided the question, making him answer it. you definitely wanted it to be, but whatever you said you knew he’d tease you.
“no i thought i’d just kiss you as a friend” he rolled his eyes, going in for another.
🤍yonghee:
three dates in and you were pretty sure that you liked him, and that he liked you back. he’d taken you to his favourite cafe without even realising it was your favourite too, he’d taken you to a art gallery which was a pretty big deal, you thought, and you’d just finished your date at the park. you packed away all the empty boxes into your picnic basket to throw away when you got home and he helped, brushing hands occasionally which made your heart go crazy every time.
“this was really nice, i’m glad the weather didn’t change” he chucked, bringing his legs to his chest and wrapping his arms around them. he looked at you for a reaction but you just smiled, not even looking in his direction. “you do feel the same way, right?” he asked, bewildered by your silence.
you finally glanced up at him “yes i do” it was quite formal looking back but at least you told him.
“then why the shyness?” he asked, almost saddened by your sudden change in character.
“because i didn’t wanna come off as too… much” you said. “i didn’t want you to see me go beetroot red either like now but here we are” you laughed, getting back to your normal self to get rid of the awkwardness.
“you’re so cute” he cooed whilechuckling, moving his arms to balance himself while he leaned over to give you a gentle kiss.
you didn’t fight it. it’s what you wanted since day one. but you were nervous and it was unexpected, you didn’t want him to think you weren’t enjoying it but you barely moved.
“was that too much?” he pulled back slowly, slightly embarrassed.
“no” you replied softly with an unmovable smile on your face. you looked back over to him, he had one eye shut and the other was squinting. you moved your head to block the sun and smiled widely at him. “can we do that again?” you asked innocently.
“please” he laughed a little, leaning in once again. this time you lead the kiss, proving to him that you felt the same way as him. his hand slowly made its way to your waist. you jumped slightly which made him smile into the kiss. your stomach flipped every time you realised what was going on and you were getting more flustered by the second, but of course yonghee found it adorable and it made him smile even more.
🖤jinyoung:
it was very rare that you and jinyoung got free time together, alone. you’re not even sure if you’d had any since getting together. you always had work to do or exams to prepare for or family matters to deal with. he was always dancing or studying or with his family too. you made do with the little time you had together but it always left you both wanting to share more intimate moments. you could only do so much on facetime.
“why aren’t you at school?” he asked in response to you showing up on screen in your bed. “are you sick? do you want me to come over? oh god are you skipping school?! i mean that’s cool but we all know… you lack… ya know… brain cells. you need to be there babe,” he joked while waiting for an answer.
“first of all, my lack of brain cells has nothing on my lack of taste when it comes to men. second of all, my school is closed because the heating is broken and it’s like -200°C. do you want us all to freeze to death?” you retaliated sarcastically.
“ideally” he replied, setting his phone down on the desk while he put a hoodie over his tshirt.
“well i was going to say you could come over since i’m home alone all day but i don’t think I want you to anymore” you fake sulked even though he couldn’t see you.
“no i’m getting ready now you don’t have a choice” he announced, picking his phone back up and heading outside of his shared accommodation.
he arrived at your door in no time.
“did you run?” you asked, watching him stagger his way up your driveway panting like a dog.
“no” he obviously lied. “well yes” he confessed “but only so i could do this”. he put his ice cold hands on your cheeks and started to lean in.
“the neighbours” you pushed him away slightly, pointing to all the houses on your street.
“fuck your neighbours, have they had to wait 600 years to kiss their girl/boyfriend?” with that, your lips finally collided. you soon forgot about the idea that people were watching and became fully immersed in the kiss. you’d wanted to make the move for so long, if you knew he was okay with an audience you would have done it in front of your friends.
it was the longest kiss either of you had ever had, undeniably the best too. it was innocent, yet hungry. passionate and sincere but hasty. everything you expected it to be and more.
💜hyunsuk:
not a single day passed where you didn’t think about kissing hyunsuk, but every time you tried, you always chickened out. it was the same whenever he tried to either. the mood was never right, you wanted to remember the kiss yet he’d always spring it on you at the most random times, that’s why you always pulled back or pushed him away.
today you were cleaning out some of your old make up, most of it had passed its use by date, some just wasn’t your style anymore and the rest you were gonna keep. hyunsuk being hyunsuk just wanted to be around you, so he came over and watched while messing in every little item on your desk.
“what about this?” you asked, holding up a sealed lip tint, knowing he wasn’t really paying attention to you.
“yeah that’s nice” he replied dismissively. you shook your head and threw the lip tint into the space you’d made on the floor for stuff to give to your friends.
“hey, why throw it there? i said it was nice,” he questioned. you were a little taken back, was he actually listening?
“when have you ever seen me wear that shade?” you retorted. you stared at his face intently before coming up with a fun plan. “i think it will look nice on you though, actually, can i put some on for you?” by this point, you’d embodied the pleading face emoji, he wasn’t gonna say no to that.
“only if i can put some on you after” you nodded, he’d forget about that anyway, you thought. he picked up the lip tint and passed it to you. you stood in front of him and puckered to show him what to do. he followed and you applied it gently. you hated to admit it but it did look really good on him, even though you’d only said it as a mindless joke.
“all done” you said, turning him on your chair to face the mirror.
“hmm pretty!” he spun back around to face you who was still crouched at his height so you could admire it even more. to your surprise, he grabbed your face and pulled it towards his. he planted one sticky peck on your lips before looking to see the mess he’d created. “not enough” he whispered to himself before returning his lips back to yours for longer this time. it was more intense. he seemed to throw himself into this one a bit more, and so did you. your lips moved together instinctively and your hands found their way over his shoulders while his steadied you are your hips.
“that was our first kiss, you know?” you asked once he’d pulled away and giggled a bit.
“wait really?” his eyes went wide and his hands were quickly removed from your sides. “i’m sorry, i got caught up in the moment, i hope it was okay” he rambled.
“it was perfect” you smiled “now here” you handed him a make up wipe “we can do it again after you’ve got that sticky mess from around your lips, okay?”
