Hello! Just here to add 100 words to your word count :)
Good luck with balancing school and writing! You got this! :D
Hi, and thank you!!
I've definitely been looking for some motivation/something to hold me accountable, so here's hoping this works!
I plan on writing updates at the end of each day as well, with my wordcounts and how I think it's going.
After all, an experiment isn't an experiment without some detailed notes, right?

Today's Workouts and Camp NaNoWriMo Day 13
Today’s Workouts and Camp NaNoWriMo Day 13
Of course today is more desk peddler and body weight workouts. I had to go a little easy because my hip is sore for some reason (don’t get old, kids) which serves to remind me why I’m working out in the first place: to be stronger as I age. I am not entirely caught up but the words were flowing today. I think they’re mostly keepers as well. I tend to edit out a lot when I go back through but…

SPREADSHEET OF PALESTINIAN ESCAPE FUNDS‼️TIME SENSITIVE
Operation Olive Branch is a continuously updating spreadsheet of Palestinian escape funds where progress towards their goals is being tracked. As of right now, there are over 100 funds listed there.
Any amount of money can make a difference. With their recent decision to bomb Rafah, the only remaining “safe” territory in Gaza, Israel has forced Palestinians into a corner by giving them nowhere else to go. The international community has given Israel the ability to act with impunity - it is long past the point in time to rely on those in power to hold Israel to any standard of compassion.
Today, I want you to look at this document, choose a fund, contribute to it, and share it. The people in Rafah are living on borrowed time. Free Palestine.

I did it! I set a modest goal but I didn't think to hit it so fast! Now I wanna see how much farther I get by the end of the month!

you get used to it, but it's tiring, because they need you to understand your own life as a series of goalposts. what college are you going to, what's your major going to be, whatcha gonna do with that, oh where will you settle down, when can i expect grandkids.
for the longest time my goals have been so blurry that they track into each other, their undefined edges slipping quietly back into the soft night. today i want to be a writer; tomorrow i will want to be a doctor, later i will wish i took that law school free ride. how the fuck do people just know what they want to do with their life?
where do you want to be in five years? i want to be alive; which is a huge step for me. ten years ago i would have said i want to be asleep and meant i hope that i'm dead by then.
but i want a yellow kitchen and a stand mixer. i want a garden and a fruit tree (cherry, if i can make that happen) and a big yard for my dogs to play in. i want to come home and read poetry out loud to someone and have them close their eyes to listen. i want a summer watergun fight. i want to make snowmen. i want to be the house to go to for halloween. i want my life to settle around me in a softness, for it to lay down gently. if i am very, very, very lucky, i want to travel; finally go someplace overseas.
of course i don't know what i want to be doing professionally. what i actually want to be doing is curling up beside my dog, settling in to read. i want to be making myself a cup of good coffee.
i can't answer the other questions. whenever people asked me what do you want to be when you grow up, i used to say i hope i'm happy.
i hope i'm still kind, five years from now. i hope i never get jaded and mean. i hope i have stayed in therapy. what do you picture yourself doing? when will you actually be an adult about this? why are you so afraid of being ambitious?
am i not ambitious? the other day i rearranged my furniture which doesn't quite fit into my apartment. i watered my plants. i'm going to try to propagate a cherry seed. my five year goal is to spend more time laughing. to lie down in a patch of sunwarm moss. to relax for a minute. to close my eyes and think oh thank god. this is why i stayed. this is finally it.

motivation experiment
↪ day one
26 August, 2022 - The Experiment, in question
Wordcount: 166
Asks: x1
Progress: - Brainstormed w/ new WIP, Faefinder - 1/2 packed for college
One day until I move back to college. Two more nights at home, in my own bed.
I'm actually pretty happy with my word count! I'd like to get even just 100 words done each day; even something is a little progress, after all. And it's 100 words more than I've written in quite some time. (Don't let my posts fool you; I have a LOT of old writing to get through in terms of posting!)

Okay if you write. Listen to me.
Set a daily word goal. Not a big one, because you won't be able to make it every day, you will likely procrastinate and not write at all, or feel guilty about not making the goal.
Set a small goal. Set a tiny goal if you have to.
400? Amazing. 100? Wonderful. 50? Heck yes. One fucking sentance? VALID.
Mine is 200 words a day. I haven't felt particularly inspired recently, but over the past month I've written at least 200 words nearly every day.
Which leads me into my next point: if you have to skip a day THAT'S OKAY. There will come a day when you feel really inspired and write 2000 words, and you'll make it up.
Sometimes I write 200 words and then my creativity runs out, but sometimes I sit down and write a whole lot.
Since I started doing this, my story has progressed so fast, and I feel like this is probably going to be the first full-length novel I finish.
Obviously this method isn't for everyone, but I recommend you try it. If it doesn't work for you that's fine! Find something that does.
