#wild parties at Avengers Tower

Okay an ask: how are Nat and Clint when they’re drinking? Do they drink at all? Are either of them karaoke prone afterwards?
Depends on the company! And yes, they both drink. Sometimes as a coping mechanism for the shit they go through but most of the time as a way to relax in their down time.
If they are alone with just themselves with a bottle of top shelf vodka or whiskey between them they are SHAMELESS flirts. Truly a spectacular made of terrible one liners and raunchy jokes and sloppy wet kissing. Clint’s the one prone for belching out into song, Nat can count on both hands of how many times Clint’s just started drunkenly singing into her ear. She’ll giggle and slap his shoulder while remarking how horrible his singing voice is (it’s not, she’s just a brat. She secretly loves it!) Overall they are affectionate, funny and often find themselves slumped against each other on floor giggling.
If they have company, namely the Avengers, it’s a P-A-R-T-Y!
Many a times has Thor spiked the punch with something extra from Asgard. Clint once awoke in a bed (not his) without his pants, wet and strangely smelling of pickle juice. Which in hindsight was an atrocious combination for the nausea and hangover that soon followed. Nat on the other hand found herself in the living room cuddling a shirtless Pepper with a half eaten burrito nestled between them. To this day neither knows who ordered the burrito but Nat swears up and down it was placed there for blackmail purposes. (Her bet is on Tony, Pepper thinks it was Clint) The resulting photos of this wild party nearly ended up on TMZ’s desk, but was thankfully apprehended by Steve thus saving the them from a possible PR nightmare.
Since this fateful night both Steve and Clint guard the punchbowl from Thor and Jarvis cuts outside communication for a proverbial cone of silence around Avenger’s Tower. All food delivery requests are submitted ahead of time and submitted by Jarvis. The local pizza delivery guy Thomas Heckum is a personal favorite and has some really wild stories to tell, but of course he’s paid for silence.
(This was so fun to imagine I might actually have to fic this! 😂)
Thanks so much for asking babes! 🍪🍪
As PS for you: Once Bucky joins the team a spun bottle ended the night with a hot and heavy make out between Clint and Bucky, Nat was extremely surprised and a bit flustered. 😉 That one was just for you.
Oh and Bruce ended up on the roof without pants screaming “I’m King Kong bitches!”
Clint took a video and he teases him about it to this day!

After one more passionate kiss, she said goodbye to her date and closed the door to her room. Loki had just taken her on the most romantic date she had been on in her life. He took her to a beautiful rooftop restaurant, that he completely bought out so they would be alone. They were both in the spotlight, she was the newest member of the avengers and Loki… Well, he was popular for many wrong reasons. She saw through all of that, however, and continued to pursue a romantic relationship with him. Even with the protest from the other avengers.
The relationship was new, so new that they haven't even had sex yet. Neither of them have had a functional relationship in years, actually, their whole life. Currently, she was enjoying the fantasy romance with stolen kisses in secret corners. However, Loki was attractive, insanely attractive, and she could only put off her urges for so long before she would go insane. He couldn’t help that he had pure sex appeal dripping from every pore on his flawless face.
She took off her shoes and undid the halter top of her black, knee length dress, exposing her breasts in the process. Her nipples were pebbling from the perverse thoughts of the god of mischief. They shared a prolonged makeout session on the other side of the door only seconds ago, the feeling of his lips still burning on hers. The ghost-like feeling of his hands wandering her body remained. And her now discarded dress still held his warmth from how close he was to her.
Laying down on the bed, facing the ceiling, her soft hand trailed down to her panties. Her fingers slipped underneath the waistband, teasing herself in the process. She imagined Loki above her, kissing her, touching her, pleasuring her. What would his hands feel like as they explored her bare skin? They were rough, yet somehow gentle at the same time. She noticed the first time he took her hand in his as he brought it to his delicate lips. Ooh his lips~ she imagined how they would look kissing down her body, sucking her nipples and kissing her clit. She played with her pussy as her imagination went wild, the drug that was Loki intoxicating her mind and body.
Little did she know, Loki was doing exactly the same. After he rushed back to his room in the tower, two floors beneath hers, he immediately tore off his tie. Their makeout session had made his dick unbearably hard beneath his trousers. He didn’t even bother taking off all of his clothes as he crashed onto his own bed, green silken sheets giving out underneath his frame as he slipped himself from his pants. His cock bobbed to attention, craving the touch of the very woman he fantasized about, at the moment, however, his hand would have to do. Lubricating his shaft with the sticky bead of precum that leaked from his tip, he began to stroke himself. He recalled their date, her precious laugh that would come out whenever Loki told a joke or an embarrassing story about Thor when they were kids that made him feel like he just hit a home run. And that dress, damn her for wearing that while sitting across from him. He thought about how easy it would be to undo the knot at her neck and reveal her perfect breasts to him. He wanted her, all of her, and he wasn’t sure how much longer he could take this torture.
So why wait? Why would they torture themselves like this? It’s simple really, they loved the thrill of the chase. The more that they tortured themselves by distancing themselves from each other, the more rewarding the end result would be, or so they thought. It wouldn’t take much longer for them to break anyway, it could be any day now.
The next day, Loki sat in the shared living room in the tower. He normally wouldn’t, but it was actually peaceful right now. The only other people in the room were Steve and Natasha, and they were busy doing their own things. Steve was going through files at the table and Natasha was lounging on the couch that was across from the chair Loki was sitting in, mindlessly scrolling on her phone. Loki read his book in silence, he didn’t mind company, as long as they were quiet. If Stark were to walk through the doors, then Loki would immediately get up to leave. But luckily he was on a different floor of the tower, working on his projects.
That silence was briefly broken by Steve making a comment as he held up a file.
“Huh, isn’t that next week?” He softly spoke to himself.
“What is?” Natasha asks from her place on the couch without looking up from her phone.
Steve muttered her name, causing Loki to turn his head, “It’s her birthday in a week.”
Loki’s heart fluttered, her birthday. He immediately began planning in his head. What would he get her?
For a brief moment, Loki seemed to forget that Natasha was her closest friend in the whole building as she jumped from her place on the couch.
“We have to throw a party for her!” She exclaims, “A surprise party!”
“It won’t be much of a surprise if you keep yelling.” Loki states while placing his book down.
“I don’t know Nat.” Steve rubs the back of his neck, placing the file down on the table, “She's still so new, wouldn’t it be weird? I mean, it would be Tony’s call anyway.”
Natasha saunters over to the blond man, “And Tony is always looking for an opportunity to drink. Let's give him one.” She places her hands on his shoulders, rubbing soft circles with her thumbs.
Loki rolled his eyes across the room, they were clearly doing stuff behind closed doors.
“I thought this was about her?” Loki reminds the redhead as he stands from the couch.
“It is, we just have to get Tony on board.” She tells him.
“Get Tony on board with what, exactly?” The billion dollar man himself asked as he walked into the living room.
Although Loki mentally stated earlier that he would leave the room if Tony were to walk in, the current conversation piqued his interest too much.
Natasha explains that her best friend’s birthday is in a week and she wants permission to use the ballroom and bar for a venue to throw a surprise party.
Stark pauses in thought, “You’re lucky I just got a new shipment of bottles in for the bar. If you put it together, then sure, I don’t care.” He answers before nonchalantly walking to the kitchen as if nothing happened.
“What? All by myself?” She whines.
“I only use my party planners for important events, not the new girl’s birthday party.” He pauses and looks at the empty coffee pot, “Hey, what is this? Rules are whoever finishes has to brew the next one, c’mon guys.” He angrily grabs the bag of coffee beans as Rogers attempts to hide his half finished cup of coffee.
“Fine, I don’t need your help anyway.” She goes to walk out of the room.
Loki does his best attempt at hiding his anger towards Stark, how dare he speak of her in such a way, like she means nothing. To Loki, she meant everything, and he was more than willing to prove that.
“Romanoff, wait,” He stops the angry Russian woman on her way out, “I’ll help you.”
Steve and Tony shoot him a weird look from across the room. Loki returns it with a cold glare.
Natasha smiles in realization, “Oh yeah, she told me you guys just started going out. Well, this should get you some good brownie points, if you know what I mean.” She winks as Steve rolls his eyes in disgust.
Loki, still being somewhat unfamiliar with ‘Midgardian phrases’ as he called them, didn’t know what she meant as he cocked his head in confusion. “Brownies? What does that have to do with anything?”
Natasha is the one to roll her eyes this time as she lets out a breathy laugh, “It’s a figure of speech, don’t worry about it. C’mon, we have a party to plan.” She grabs his wrist and pulls him behind her as she rushes out of the room.
Over the course of the next few days, Loki spent more time with Natasha as they planned the party. They were secretive, often hiding in a dark corner of the library or the empty ballroom so they could lay out where everything would go. Loki learned more about the girl as Natasha told him stories about missions they went on together, as well as embarrassing stories from drunken nights out on the town. He fell more in love with every word about her.
The day before the party that she was still none the wiser about, she lurked the hallaways, looking for her God. She had only seen him briefly within the past few days, he seemed busy, she wondered why. Surely the avengers didn't trust him with anything important, so what was he doing? Her upcoming birthday was the last thing on her mind as she searched for those raven curls.
Eventually, she found him, in a narrow corner of the library. She mentally kicked herself for not checking there first. Sneaking around a bookshelf, intending to surprise him, she saw Natasha, they were both clueless to her presence.
“Just please, make sure she doesn’t find out. I don’t want to ruin it.” Loki speaks quietly to the redhead, who nods in agreement.
The prying girl’s heart drops to her stomach, feeling as if she had been stabbed. How could he? With her best friend as well? She walked away quickly from the horrifying scene, her stomach churned and she felt like she would be sick.
She darted to her room and slammed the door, unable to hold it together for any longer. She fell to her knees, crying like a mad woman. No man was perfect, but Loki? He was so amazing, he had been hurt before, he opened up to her and she felt safe enough to do the same with him. It was all an illusion. What turned him away? Was it because she didn’t have sex with him? Perhaps he grew bored and impatient, moving on to the next available woman. She recalled his kisses, they were so sweet and genuine. It all didn’t matter in the end, he was the god of lies after all, what else did she expect?
And Natasha, how could she? Natasha knew that her best friend was in love with Loki, she had cautioned her many times, trying to convince her to avoid him because he was trouble. But, there she was, hiding with him in dark corners, just as Loki did with her before. Was it payback? Or maybe Natasha wanted him all this time.
She remained in her room for the rest of the day, wallowing in bed, feeling hollow. She thought about how she would confront Loki, and ultimately, break up with him. The thought nearly made her burst into tears once again, however, her eyes were too dry.
The next morning was a nightmare. After praying that what she saw was only a dream, she was pulled back into reality after a restless night of sleep. Dragging herself out of bed, she sulked to the bathroom. She really didn’t want to cry on her birthday, not that it was different than any other day at this point. Her eyes were puffy, cheeks stained with tears. Part of her couldn’t believe she had let a man tear her apart this much, but here she was. She put makeup on to hide her sorrow and brushed her tangled hair. The least she could do was treat herself.
She headed straight for the elevator to take her to the ground level, she hoped not to run into anyone. She didn’t want anyone to suspect anything was wrong, and as far as she knew, no one knew it was her birthday. Thankfully, the elevator remained vacant the whole way down. The tower was quieter than usual, she noticed immediately. Part of her wished that everyone left and she could have the place to herself, maybe she’d even go swimming in their pool later.
Spending the better part of her day in the city, buying coffee, shopping, and going to her favorite music store, she distracted herself. Even though she was doing all of her favorite things, she still felt numb. Nothing made her happy, nothing filled the void that Loki had left. Her last stop was a local bakery, where she picked up a small cake, big enough for her to pick at for the next few days. She had no intention of sharing, however.
The tower was still disturbingly silent when she returned, it sent a chill down her spine. She headed directly to her room. The door was locked, however, when she opened it she was greeted with a sight that she really did not want to see.
Loki stood there, he was worried. He walked straight to her, causing her to duck out of the way. She didn’t know what to say, she hadn’t figured that part out yet.
Loki raised an eyebrow as she went out of her way to avoid him. “Darling, where have you been? Why are you avoiding me?”
She placed the bag that contained the cake on her desk, rage filled her eyes as her back was turned to him. “I’ve been avoiding you? Don’t be ridiculous.” She scoffs.
“Tell me what's wrong, please.” He begged behind her.
She whipped around with tears in her eyes, the action causing Loki to slightly jump. “You want to know what's wrong, huh? You want to know why I’m avoiding you? C’mon Loki, I thought you were smart.” His hands reach out for her before she slaps them away, “You are nothing but the god of lies, I should have never gotten involved with you.”
Her words stabbed him and he didn’t even understand why she said them. Every action that he had done ran through his head as he panicked, he couldn’t recall doing anything wrong. “Darling, please, I don’t understand. Why are you saying these things?” He held his hands in front of him in surrender, tears began to prick his blue eyes.
“BECAUSE YOU CHEATED ON ME, YOU BASTARD!” She yelled, pushing him aside as she tried to get away before he caught her wrist, holding her against him as she struggled. “Loki! Let go!”
“No! Not until you tell me where you heard these lies!” He growls.
“Heard? No. I saw you, I caught you” She spat with venom.
“When? With who? Stop fueling these delusions!”
She struggled even more against him as his hold persisted. Even with these overwhelming emotions, he held her softly so that he wouldn’t hurt her, his precious flower.
“Is this torture? You want me to tell you about your infidelity? Fuck you! I hate you!” She began to cry, her legs giving out beneath her. For the first time, she feared Loki, he was stronger, more powerful. He could do whatever he wanted, if he so pleased. Her body began to shake from fear and crying.
Loki went down with her, carefully sitting her on the floor with him. He held her against his chest, her actions were beginning to scare him as well. “Yes, because I have no idea what you are talking about. I just want you.” His voice cracked as he tried to reason with her.
She managed to speak in between broken sobs, “Natasha, I s-saw you two, in the l-library.”
Loki sighs, ‘That was what she saw.’ He thought. He loosens his grip on her, at this point however, she was too defeated to stand. “And what were we doing?” He asks.
“I don’t know.” She mumbled, shrugging her shoulders. “Talking.”
“Did you hear what we were saying?” He tries to get an answer out of her.
“I heard you say that you didn’t want me to find out about something, that you didn’t want to ruin ‘it’, whatever that is.” She shoots him a deadly glare as he begins to form a smile on his face.
“And, if I may ask, what did you assume we were talking about?”
“Your secret relationship, you didn’t want me to find out.” She mutters.
Loki gave her a smirk, pushing a stand of hair behind her ear, the action caused her to flinch slightly, still feeling untrustworthy toward the god. “I have always admired your imagination, darling. But, I’m afraid that it has done you wrong this time around.” She continued to glare at him, “What if I said I could prove you wrong?”
She scoffs sarcastically, “Wrong? How?”
“You want to know what we were really talking about?” He lets out a small grunt as he stands, offering her his hand, “I’ll show you, right now.”
The whole reason Loki was here in the first place was to bring her to the party downstairs. They were keeping everyone waiting, Loki hoped that they hadn't left by now. Sorting out this misunderstanding was more important anyway. He would rather die again than have her hate him.
Her look turns from anger to suspicion as she cautiously accepts his hand. He gently pulls her up with him. As he does so, she feels an electric, slightly cold feeling surrounding her. Her previous outfit disappeared as it was replaced with a black cocktail dress, adorned with small sparkles. She felt the weight of something on her head, she reached up to touch it. It was a tiara, small and dainty, but nevertheless beautiful.
“Happy Birthday, my love.” He brushes his knuckles against her cheek, admiring every feature of her face.
“H-how did you know?” She stutters in shock.
“I have my sources, now,” He offers his arm to her, “Shall we?”
Hand still shaking, she carefully accepts his arm. She had hope and was willing to give him one more chance. Loki led her to the elevator, she watched his long finger press the button for their intended floor. Her eyebrow raised in confusion, noticing that the floor he selected was the party room where Stark held most of his events. She began putting the pieces together as the elevator dinged and the doors opened.
Her body jumped as she was greeted with a loud, simultaneous shout of “Surprise” from everyone there waiting for her. Her hands covered her mouth in shock, no one had ever done anything like this for her before as a small tear fell from her eyes. This time, it was a tear of happiness. Everyone went to greet her and wish her a happy birthday.
After the initial excitement of her presence died down and everyone went to talk in groups among themselves, she found Natasha. A pang of regret flowed through her, questioning how she came to such an extreme conclusion after seeing them together only once.
The redhead smiled and handed her a drink, “So, what do you think?” She asks.
“It’s amazing, I had no idea that you even knew when my birthday was.” The stunned woman replied as she scanned the room, admiring the decorations.
“Steve has a big mouth, he was going through files and he found yours.” She winks and takes a sip of her own drink.
The birthday girl lets out a silent ‘ah’ in realization, “Thank you, Nat.”
“Oh how I wish I could take all the credit.” She sighs overdramatically, “Loki did most of this actually, I just kind of gave him ideas. I'm sorry I tried to steer you away from him, he’s not as bad as I thought.” She admits and apologizes, causing her friend’s expression to drop which she immediately notices. “Hey, what’s wrong?”
“I feel awful. I accused Loki of doing something that he didn’t do. He probably hates me now.” She looks down at her drink, fingertips fidgeting with the glass.
“I don’t think that’s possible.” Natasha butts in.
“Why do you say that?”
“Because, he really, and I mean really, cares about you. Every second of our party planning he was stressing over what colors the decorations should be, the flavor of the cake, and just whether or not you would like the party.”
Natasha’s words made her feel even more guilty, she had to find Loki and apologize. However, she had noticed his lack of presence since she got off the elevator.
“Where is he?” She asks, looking around the room frantically for her raven haired god.
“I think I saw him walk out to the balcony.” Natasha points in the direction of his assumed location. The worried girl immediately made her way out to him before she heard Nat speak up again behind her, “Don’t be gone too long! You’ll be opening presents soon!”
She tuned out her best friend’s words, not caring about presents at the moment. All she wanted was Loki, she needed him. Her heart pounded in her ears as she quickly made her way to him. Sure enough, there he was, standing solemnly on the balcony while staring at the city beneath him. He looked like a king, observing his kingdom below him. She wondered what he thought about, was he recalling his attempted rule from a few years ago?
“Loki?” She cautiously walked up to him, unsure if he was upset with her.
“Are you enjoying your party?” He asks, his back still turned to the woman behind him.
“I am.” She walks up closer to him, desperate to feel his warmth again. She still keeps a slight distance between them, still unable to read him at the moment. “Natasha told me about all the effort you put into it, thank you, so so much Loki. And…” She sighs, regret and shame flowing through her veins, “I am so sorry, about the accusation, about the way I treated you. I should’ve never assumed what was happening. I just jumped to conclusions and I didn’t want to lose you.” She apologizes, her head hung in defeat.
It didn’t take long for two familiar, warm arms to embrace her. She happily accepted Loki’s embrace, a symbol of his acceptance to her apology. She wrapped her arms around him, holding him as tight as she could, never wanting to let go again.
“It’s alright darling, I understand where you were coming from. But, just know that you are the only woman who my eyes focus on, who my heart beats for, and who I live for.” He stroked her hair and placed a soft kiss on her temple. She pulled away slightly to look him in his soft eyes, she could tell they had shed a few tears, and they were all her fault. He leaned down, closing the gap between their lips as they met in a soft kiss. His arms wrapped tightly around her waist as he pulled her flush against his body. Her hands ran up his toned biceps, hidden underneath that midnight black button up shirt, to the nape of his neck, where she played with the curls that brushed his shoulders. The kiss became deeper, more passionate, it wasn’t long before they were almost having another full blown make out session before they were so rudely interrupted.
“I’m so glad that you guys sorted your issues out, but I told you that presents were happening soon and you ignored me.” Natasha rolled her eyes as she spoke while peeking out to the balcony.
Loki groaned in annoyance after being rudely interrupted by Natasha. His beloved only giggled before responding to her best friend, “We’ll be right there.”
Immediately after Natasha turns her back to the couple, their kiss resumes. When she eventually tries to break away, Loki moves his kisses to her jaw and then her neck. She gave out a breathy laugh as he kissed her ticklish spot, her body arching into his.
“My love…” He mumbles as his lips explore her skin, “I need you, I don’t want to wait anymore. I crave you.”
“Would you be willing to wait another twenty minutes so I can open my presents?” She asks.
Loki pulled away and cupped her cheek, “Twenty minutes. Or else I give everyone in that room a show.”
“Don’t threaten me with a good time, mischief.” She laughs before dragging the sexually frustrated god back inside with her.
Everyone surrounded her as she opened her gifts, most of which contained jewelry and gift certificates to high end stores in New York. It was all overwhelming, she had never been treated like this on her birthday before. Loki was right there next to her, his hand would rest on her back when he noticed her anxiousness. She wondered if he was actually keeping track of the passing time, and what he would do once twenty minutes had passed.
After all the presents were received everyone went to go eat cake and drink the rest of the night away. Loki went to help her carry her stuff out before Steve spoke up behind them, “Hey! Aren’t you guys staying for cake?” He asks.
“We're just putting all my gifts in my room really quick.” She tells Steve before turning to leave with Loki.
They of course had no intention of being quick, or coming back to the party. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying it more anyway. Her and Loki had more important matters to deal with.
They set her gifts down immediately as they entered the room. It took no time before Loki was on her once again, kissing every sliver of exposed skin that he could find.
“Tell me you want this.” He mumbles against her collarbone.
“Please, Loki, I need you.” She whines.
He picks her up by her waist, his godlike strength made it feel like he was lifting a feather. Her legs wrapped around his hips out of instinct as she buried her fingers in his inky locks. Their lips met once again in desperation. He walked to the bed and gently laid her on it, taking his position on top of her as he did so. Their lips never parted as her back softly met the mattress beneath.
Loki’s hands ran up and down the expanse of her form, her legs fell open, an invitation for the god of mischief to find comfort between them. He happily did so as their steamy makeout session continued, it was sloppy and filled with desperation and desire. His head spun as if her lips gave him a high, one that was very addictive. Her fingers toyed with his curls. She loved his hair so much, it was extremely soft and it held the scent of his shampoo. His scent was a comfort to her, a feeling of home.
“Loki, baby… don’t you dare be a tease.” She groans underneath him after their lips briefly parted.
He immediately sought out her kiss again as he growled, “On your birthday? Never.” He smirked against her mouth, their combined saliva trailed between their parted lips.
She giggled lightly before working on the buttons of his sinful, black shirt. Somehow, she hated and loved the way it sluttishly clung to his waist. She focused on his breathing, heavy and uneven, as she worked every frustrating button open until his pale form was revealed to her lust filled eyes. Her hands ran up his heated skin, feeling every muscle and detail that he had to offer.
“Enjoying yourself, birthday girl?” He smiled as he caught her wrist and brought it to his lips for a soft kiss.
“Very much so, but don’t interrupt me. I’m unwrapping my favorite gift.”
Loki breathily laughed, his tongue slightly reaching out to wet his upper lip as he did so. He reluctantly let go of her wrist so that she could continue. She made no effort to flip him onto his back and tear his remaining clothes off. No, this was appreciation, this was worship.
She placed her hands underneath the shirt and he helped her brush it off of his form. He now hovered topless above her, she couldn’t resist as she sat up and placed a kiss against his collarbone. His hand went to her lower back to support her as her soft lips explored his skin.
In all his long life, Loki had never felt so loved and appreciated. She treated him gently, as if he were the finest porcelain with faint cracks that would soon break. He didn’t understand this, what did he do to deserve this woman? The woman that he confided in, that he cried to, and that he would die for. He couldn’t hold back that tear that dripped down his cheek. She noticed this, looking up at him with those innocent looking doe eyes.
She cocked her head in concern and wiped his tears with her thumb, “Are you okay, my love?” She asks.
He sighed in content as his forehead rested against hers, “I've truly never been happier.”
She can’t hold back the proud smile that adorned her face as Loki gently tugged her body down onto the bed. Her dress disappeared just as quickly as it came, with a glint of green magic from Loki. Now, it was Loki’s turn to worship. His lips trailed her bare breasts, his warm breath against her hot skin sent shivers down her spine. As his tongue circled her hard nipple, she nearly jumped out of her skin. She had never imagined Loki to be such a gentle and emotional man in bed, however, she certainly wasn’t complaining.
Loki eventually made his way down to the apex of her thighs, he had left her panties on when he undressed her, wanting to unwrap a gift for himself.
He dipped his fingertips into the lace waistband, wasting no time as he slipped them down her legs.
“Oh darling, you still have yet to receive my gift.” He growled, kissing her inner thigh.
She inhales sharply, “And what would that be, m-mischief?” she stutters, beginning to lose her composure.
Loki takes one slow lick up her wet slit, “Me, of course.” He smirks against her pussy before fully going down on her.
Her hand finds its way in his hair once again, this time pulling at it, causing the god to groan. He liked it, of course he did.
His tongue circled in erotic patterns at her soaking entrance, he moved his head in a slight circular motion, causing his nose to rub against her clit perfectly. He clearly knew what he was doing as he lapped at her like a man starved.
Her back arched off the bed to meet his movements and bring him closer to her so that the much needed friction would be stronger. Her thighs clasped tighter around his head, not currently caring or thinking if he was suffocating. Loki surely didn’t seem to mind as his actions became more adamant. She moaned out for him with her head thrown back. Loki opened his eyes and saw a goddess before him. She was so indescribably perfect as her body reacted to touch. It was a sight that would be permanently tattooed in his brain until his final days.
“Loki! LOKI! Please… I’m so c-close i-” She cried out, her body quivering as he made the knot in her stomach tighten even more.
“Do it. Cum for me.” He inserted two fingers into her wet cunt and curled them against that spot that pushed her over the edge.
She screamed his name, tears of absolute pleasure fell from her eyes and her cum soaked his lower face. He moaned against her pussy, absolutely getting off on this.
He kissed his way back up her body and held her close to him. His erection strained against his trousers uncomfortably. They melted off his body in a green shimmer. She was still breathing heavily, trying to recover from the mind blowing orgasm she had been gifted. She gasped as she felt his hard cock against her thigh.
“My love.” He kissed her jawline and her cheek before placing a final kiss against her lips. “How are you?” He asks with a small laugh.
She smiles and wraps her arms around his neck, “I’m amazing, thanks for asking.” She places another short kiss on his lips, “I think that was my favorite birthday gift of the whole evening.”
“Well… there is more to it.” He bucks his hips so that the head of his cock nudges her clit, “If you wish to continue, that is.”
“Yes please, my king.” She smirks.
Loki’s ego was immediately boosted at her nickname as he lined himself up with her entrance. He ran his head up and down her soaked slit, she groaned and dug her fingernails into his shoulders as a warning to not tease. Who was he to deny her? And himself.
They let out a synchronized gasp as he breaches her. This was perfect, she was perfect.
He buried his face in the crook of her neck, taking in her natural scent as he slowly began to move his hips. There was a time for rough fucking, and then there were times like these, where they both just wanted to be loved and worshipped. Loki had never felt comfortable enough with any of his past partners to be this vulnerable and loving. She was different, however, he just wanted to get lost in her like this all day, every day.
One of his hands wrapped around the back of her left thigh, lifting her leg so that it wrapped around his hip and his thrusts found a satisfying rhythm.
Her eyes rolled back into her head as she lightly scratched her fingernails down his back. His cock felt perfect inside of her. She mentally cursed to herself for not giving into his desire earlier. This was somehow heaven and pure sin at the same time as he claimed her.
Loki lifted his head, he was making no effort to conceal his moans and she loved it.
His nose touched hers as their breathing became heavier, “Good girl.” He breathed out, “Good fucking girl.”
His words caused her to squeeze him tighter, “Loki~” She whined.
He moaned louder as her cunt tightened around his throbbing cock, “I’m right here darling, I-I’m never leaving you… fuck!”
She bit at his lips in an attempt to feel them against hers again. Loki took the hint and kissed her deeply, his thrusts speeding up as he did so.
Every little foolish worry melted away as they chased their highs together. Loki wanted to cum, but he also didn’t want this blissful moment to end. She now wrapped her legs around his waist, a subtle encouragement to make him speed up.
Almost as if he could read her mind, he did exactly as she wished. One hand held her face as the other trailed down to her clit. He rubbed it in tight circles, determined to make her cum with him.
“Oh Loki! You’re gonna make me… fuck baby! C-Cum again!” She tried her best to form a complete warning for him.
“Cum with me my queen, I need you to.” He begged. His quick, desperate thrusts worked in time with his determined fingers on her clit.
The slight burn of her fingernails scratching into the flesh of his back was just what he needed to be pushed over the edge. His grinding motions that he made as he came inside of her created the perfect friction for her to join him in bliss. Her entire body clung to his frame as she rode out her powerful orgasm.
She went silent for a few long seconds, accidentally causing Loki concern in the process.
“Love?” He got her attention as she collected herself.
“Yeah?” She looked up at him, looking absolutely fucked.
He just smiled and kissed her forehead, “Nothing. I just wanted to make sure you were okay.”
“I’m more than okay.” She reassures him.
Loki pulls his softening cock out of her before collapsing beside her. His arms reached around her as they held each other in silence.
“Thank you Loki, that was the best birthday gift ever.” She kissed his bare shoulder that was covered in a thin sheen of sweat. “And I’m sorry for what I said earlier. I just didn't want to lose you.”
“Water under the bridge, darling, don’t worry about it. You have me, I promise.”
They laid there in silence for a minute or two before she spoke again.
“I love you, Loki.” She admits somewhat quietly, partially hoping that he had already fallen asleep.
Loki pulls back and looks into her eyes, she is tense as she waits for his reaction.
“I love you too.” He kissed her lips briefly before he pulled her even closer.
Just like that, they contently fell asleep in each other’s arms. Those at the party downstairs wondered where the birthday girl had disappeared to. Natasha only smirked as she continued downing her drink. She would definitely be teasing her about this tomorrow.

New Year’s Eve
Tumblr media
Characters: Steve Rogers x Reader ft. The Avengers, Doctor Strange, Peter Parker, Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes (all platonic)
Warnings: None.
Description: It’s December 31. You’ve just returned from a mission. Tony wants to throw a New Years Eve party. And Steve just wants to speak to you for a few minutes.
A/n: Wishing each of you an early Happy New Year! I hope 2023 is filled with happiness and love. Here’s to another year of little stories and imagination running wild x
There was a lot of noise coming from below. You would have been bothered if you hadn’t already been up awake still jumpy from the mission in Wakanda.
The thumps and bumps drew your curiosity and you set off on a journey to see what was happening. Two floors down, you ran into a series of strangers in the tower wearing guest passes. As they walked by, you noticed your favourite spy-turned-Avenger leaning against the kitchen bench.
“What’s with the good looking people at 8am?” You asked.
Natasha was quietly watching Tony sign some documents out on the helipad and sipped on her favourite morning juice.
“Didn’t you hear? Tony wants to have a lavish New Years Eve party tonight.”
A few of the stronger workers were lifting crates marked with ‘warning: explosive’ according to Tony’s instruction.
“And here come the fireworks. Hold this,” Natasha passed you her drink. “I need to move the quinjet before that goes up in flames too.”
You had questions but she left your side before you could voice them. The fridge door closed and Thor walked over with a tub of yogurt in his hands.
“I never understand you mortals. You can court chaos and yet create such beautiful ‘sky fire’.” He said bumping your shoulder. “A party this evening is exciting, is it not?”
“It would be if he hadn’t sprung this out of nowhere.”
Thor looked away from the workers and frowned at you. “Nowhere? Did you not receive the message two days ago on the small voicebox?” The God of Thunder recognised your blank expression and explained himself. “The phone?”
You reached into your back pocket and pulled out your handheld device. Tapping a few button, you realised that the battery had fallen flat. “Crap. It must have run out while I was away.” You realised.
Thor leaned over and touched the screen, sending a small electric current into the device and bringing it back to life. As the screen loaded, you gave a grateful sigh. “You’re like a walking source of energy.”
There were several pings of missed texts and calls that floated to the top of the screen.
29 December 10:50am - 1 missed call from Hawkeye.
29 December 10:56am - (Hawkeye) Text over your room’s access code. I need to hide the Asgardian mead.
29 December 1:21pm - 1 missed call from Thaddeus Ross.
29 December 2:56pm - (Hawkeye) Don’t ignore me.
29 December 2:58pm - (Hawkeye) Your phone’s dead, isn’t it?
30 December 7:22am - 1 missed call from Pepper P.
30 December 10:53am - (Steve) I’ve moved your mission debrief to after the party. Hope you’re keeping safe.
30 December 12:36pm - 2 missed calls from The Raft.
Dismissing them for now, you tapped a few icons to replay the voicemail left by Tony.
“Avengers - it’s time to celebrate the end of the year with flair. I’m hosting a New Years Eve party in two nights at the tower. Food, friends and fireworks. Invitations are going out right now so come dressed to dazzle.”
“What do you suppose he means by ‘dress to dazzle’? Perhaps, Jane will know. I’ve invited her to join us if she’s not too busy. Barton mentioned a tradition of kissing someone at midnight. Hopefully Jane finds me worthy.” Thor hoped.
You groaned internally. The dreaded pressure of kissing someone at midnight was something you never enjoyed. It felt too dramatic for your taste.
“Will you be bringing someone?” The God of Thunder wondered.
Patting his arm, you stepped away. “I’m going for a walk so less people ask me that question.”
Leaving him to watch the workers and enjoy his breakfast, you crossed the room to the elevator. You descended to the lobby where more people wandered about. While walking, you hadn’t noticed the foot of a marble statute poking out of place and accidentally kicked it.
Caught off guard, you cursed while hopping to nurse the temporary pain. Turning around, you found yourself nose-to-box when a hand grabbed yours, pulling you to the side.
“Whoa, easy there.” Steve laughed as he held your arm so you wouldn’t hit the stack of boxes.
“Sorry, I was just - why did we take the statue down?” You asked, looking back at the sculpture.
“Tony wants there to be more space for the crowd to mingle.” Steve replied.
“This party is just getting more elaborate by the second.” You sighed. “If I had known it was tonight, I might have stayed in Wakanda for a few more days.”
“Come on, you don’t mean that.”
You didn’t really wish to be away from home on New Years if you could help it.
“No, I don’t.” Placing your hands on your hips, you exhaled a thought. “I had hoped today would be a day of rest. Not party prepping.”
“Actually speaking of the party, if you’re not taking any-”
“Here he is! Just the man I was after.” Tony called out as he appeared from behind the super soldier having taken the stairs. He approached and patted Steve’s shoulder. “I need your help upstairs.” Tony then looked at you.
“And I need your help with the last remaining invitations. FRIDAY hit a small glitch during the send so I’ve texted you the names that were missed.”
Steve glanced at his friend. “Sure thing Tony but I was just-”
“You’ll have plenty of time later. Come on, Cap.”
With Steve on a task with Tony, you looked at your phone screen to read the message he left on your phone.
Stephen Strange, Wong, Peter and May, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes.
The latter two were easy to reach since you were always in touch. You could extend their invites on your way to Bleeker Street.
Wrapping up for the cold weather outside, you caught a cab to the Sanctum Sanctorum. As you were driven, you tried to give Sam a call but reached his voicemail.
“Hi, this is Sam Wilson. I’m not available but leave a message…”
“What are you doing?”
“Recording an outgoing voicemail so people leave a message when I can’t take their call.”
“That’s weird.”
The banter between Sam and Bucky was so enjoyable that you almost forgot to hang up when the tone beeped. You’d try again a little later in the day.
With the traffic being a little heavier, your ride was slow so you went through a few missed calls and called back the time sensitive ones. After the third, you slipped your phone back into your pocket when you noticed that the cab had slowed to a stop. Paying the driver, you stepped out and pulled your coat a little tighter before walking up the stairs.
Knocking twice, you paused on the third when you heard a crash behind the door. Then the wooden panel creaked open and you were pulled inside and landed on a platform that wasn’t part of the usual foyer.
“Y/n! It’s so nice you see you.” Wong welcomed from somewhere above where he stood on a large rock as he wrangled against a large beast.
You waved at him when suddenly the ground you were standing on trembled. At the end of it was a second beast set on fire.
What the hell had you walked into?
It charged towards you until a magical leash fastened around its neck and pulled it away before you were swallowed. Following the thread, you saw the man you were after.
“Is now a bad time?” You called out.
Stephen rolled his eyes. “Does anything about this seem normal to you?”
Looking around, it was hard to answer because the last few times you visited, there was another perilous disaster occurring within the walls.
“Actually, this is a bit of a habit.” You admitted. Stephen sighed and accepted the reply. “I came to invite you to the New Years Eve party tonight. At the tower, if you survive this.”
Stephen grappled with the reigns of his creature as it grew in strength. Wong leapt into the air, opened a portal beneath the feet of his own beast and let it fall through with a growl. He then made his way over to you.
“What time is the party?” He asked.
Stephen groaned. You ignored the sorcerer and addressed his friend. “At seven.”
Wong nodded, happy with the invitation. “I’ll be there.”
You looked up at Stephen. “And you?”
Doctor Strange sighed and cast a hand in your direction with a circling motion. “I think you still have a few more guests to invite.”
That’s when you realised that there was no floor beneath your feet and you fell through a hole only to land on a soft couch.
“Oh my god!” Aunt May cried out as a bowl of popcorn flew into the air.
Peter jumped out from the kitchen brandishing wooden spoons poised for attack. “What? What?”
You cleared out the stray kernels from your hair. “I really hate it when he does that. Oh, hi you two!”
Aunt May calmed her erratic heart and lowered the volume on the television. “Y/n, as much as I enjoy having you over, why don’t you try the door next time?”
You apologised for the suddenness and the mess as you gathered the bowl. Peter set the spoons down and walked over.
“Is something wrong? Does Mr Stark need my help?” He wondered quickly filled with so much hope.
Chuckling, you helped clean up the ruined movie snack from the floor. “Not quite. Actually we’re having a party at the tower tonight and would love for you both to be there if you’re free.”
“A party? With the Avengers?” Peter’s eyes widened, mouth grinning while trying to contain his excitement.
May cleared her throat. “Will Happy be there?”
Her interest in the body guard had not gone unnoticed particularly since Happy always asked you about her. “Oh he’ll be there.” You smirked.
May looked at Peter and then pretended that she wasn’t too excited. “We’ll let you know.”
Thanking them both and apologising once more for the earlier incident, you left their apartment.
Four down, two to go you thought to yourself. There was a buzz from your pocket so you fished out your phone. There was a text message from Clint. Opening it, you read:
Emergency. Pick up blueberries.
Frowning, you texted back while audibly speaking the message. “What happened to the batch I bought?”
Three dots graced the screen and then…
I ate them.
You glanced at the time and knew that the ingredients at the cocktail bar hadn’t been prepared yet. Tony always requested the caterers to do it an hour or so before the event. Luckily there was a good market close to the tower from which you could purchase the fresh produce.
As you walked to the subway and rounded a corner, you managed to get Sam on the line. It would be a great way to let him know of the event. The call was picked up with a familiar bright voice.
“Well if it isn’t my favourite Avenger.” Sam answered.
“Don’t let Cap hear you say that.” You laughed with a small head shake. “Are you home?”
“No, actually I’m visiting a family friend. What’s up?”
“That’s okay. I called for two reasons. Firstly, I found some intel on Zemo’s prison cell. Had to check in a few favours there. And second-”
“There’s a party happening at the Tower?” Sam guessed.
How did he know that? “Was it Steve?”
“You know I don’t reveal my sources.” He teased. “But to ease your mind, I’ll be there.”
“Could you try and get Bucky to come as well? I know Steve would appreciate having you both.”
Sam laughed. “That’s the third time you mentioned Mr Blue Eyes in this conversation and it’s not even 2’o clock. Why you’re not dating the guy is a mystery to me.”
You had made it down to the platform as a train pulled up. “Okay, I won’t mention him again.”
Sam loved to poke at you for fun and it was all done from a place of love. You caught up with the man for a little while longer until your stop and you bid him and the subway adieu. It was a short walk to the market where you collected enough blueberries to cover Clint’s thievery before anyone found out.
When you returned to the tower, you delivered the berries to the bar and let Clint know that the crisis was averted. The tower was getting busier and so you decided to head up to your room to get dressed.
Like any Tony Stark party, he delivered. It was magnificent with lots of familiar and new faces gracing the halls and levels of Avengers Tower. Everyone was dressed up and looked incredible. You caught a glimpse of Peter Parker in the crowd who was taking everything in. Wong managed to seek you out for a short conversation and gave you an apology on Stephen’s behalf for not making it.
After a round through the crowd, you settled at the bar to enjoy a drink with Pepper, Happy and Bruce. Steve was on his way to get some food when he heard your voice.
“I think the kissing tradition on New Years Eve is cute.” Bruce commented.
Happy shrugged. “I don’t know, I think it depends on the person you’re with.”
You set your glass down and pat Happy on the shoulder. “This. See, I think you should only kiss someone on New Years Eve if you’re in love with them or planning to pursue a relationship. What’s the point of kissing if it’s just for fun?”
Pepper laughed as she took a sip. “Don’t knock it until you try it Y/n. There are heaps of strangers here. Why don’t we set you up with one?”
Steve’s stomach flipped at the thought and he entered the conversation circle. “How is everyone doing over here?”
He leaned towards you to pull over a glass and pour himself a drink. You smiled as the rest of the group gave their replies and caught him up to speed on their last topic.
“What do you think Cap?” Happy asked.
“To kiss or not to kiss?” Bruce chimed in with a chuckle.
Steve paused for a few seconds as he thought up a response. “I like romance. I’d imagine each kiss to be special and tell a story.” Steve’s eyes landed on you. “Actually that’s why I wanted to speak to you. I-”
Suddenly, Tony interrupted the group with his presence and a holopad that was flashing red. “Oh boy, we have a major problem.” He said and showed them a newspaper article. “Vibranium was stolen in transit to Wakanda. We need a lock on their trail before it runs cold. Pun intended since the route was in Iceland.”
Happy sighed. “Wow, they picked a hell of a time to strike so close to midnight.”
Steve jumped into Captain America mode almost immediately, shoulders straightened and brow-furrowed. “I can be ready and take the quinjet in ten.”
Bruce set his glass down. “Want me to come with you?”
“Thanks Bruce. But if it’s a simple tailing job, I’ve got it covered. Besides, you should enjoy the night, you’ve earned it.”
Suddenly, the crowd began making their way to the terrace, Thor amidst them when he spotted his friends and called out from the sea of heads.
“Come, my friends. We are about to watch the sky fire!”
Tony unbuttoned his suit jacket with a flare, “It’s my time to shine.” He walked over to Pepper and stretched out his arm for her to take before striding out onto the balcony. Bruce found Natasha and followed her out while Happy caught a glimpse of Peter’s aunt in the crowd and also head in that direction.
You looked at Steve and he seemed a little disheartened. “I’ve been trying to catch you all day and now-”
You placed a hand over his arm and gave a kind rub. “Hey, it’s okay. If it’s not important, it can wait until you’re back. I’ll still be here.” Hearing your name being called outside, you stepped away from the man. “I should go. Can’t miss Tony’s wondrous display.”
Leaving Steve behind for his mission, you joined the Asgardian in the middle of the crowd. He was telling stories about how he and Loki would steal fireworks from each festival and light them up on the bifrost for the people of the lower towns. “...I think our Father knew.”
In the next few minutes, Jane Foster appeared at Thor’s side and exchanged pleasantries until the crowd began to hush and stir as they looked to the sky. Tony’s drones took to the sky in marvellous fashion before they shaped themselves into the countdown numbers.
…5, 4, 3, 2, 1!
The crowd cheered, some even coming from the streets as they watched the pyrotechnics come to life. As fireworks rose and lit up the sky, you felt a kind of magical buzz, lucky to be where you stood.
It was a beautiful sight and you looked at the surrounding crowd. Lips were locking all around and you felt your stomach twist as the feeling of being alone began to settle. It normally never bothered you but this environment felt different. While everyone was distracted, you snaked between the bodies to return inside.
As you crossed the seating arrangement with every intention to call it a night, you barrelled into a very combat-suited Steve. Shouldn’t he be halfway across the sea?
“What are you still doing here? I thought you left for Iceland.”
Steve’s eyes were fixed on you, the gentle twinkle of fireworks reflecting in his blue irises. It was like he was staring into the heart of a jewelled cave - completely mesmerised.
“It’s important.” He said closing the space between you. A hand setting against your waist, Steve leaned forward. His lips ghosting against yours as your eyes closed. “You’re important.”
It was though fireworks were being set off in your body when he pressed his lips against yours. All you could feel was magic, heat, love and you just wanted to melt against him. His warmth, his touch, if you were in a private space you were sure things would have heated up far quickly. Little did you know, Steve was feeling the exact same.
Pulling away reluctantly, Steve rest his head against yours and smiled. “A part of me wishes that I could stay.”
Closing your eyes, you took in a deep breath. “Me too.”
The door from the terrace opened. Tony had walked in to refill his glass and wandered about the bar for a suitable drink when he overheard. The rest of the team also came inside for a break from the party.
“Then why don’t you just go with him?” Tony suggested. “There’s no rule saying that you can’t.”
It was such a simple resolve but you remembered that Steve had turned down Bruce’s offer. You looked at the captain silently asking if he’d like the company.
He smiled. “It would be an honour.”
Tony stood to the side with a wine bottle in his hand as he poured another drink for himself and Pepper, quietly watching you and Steve walk away hand-in-hand towards the hanger bay. Clint grabbed himself some water and took a seat on a high chair.
“Don’t you think they’ll need some back up if vibranium is in play?” He wondered.
Tony nodded, closing the bottle and sipping his drink. “Of course, if the mission was real.”
Thor threw back the last of his Asgardian mead and set his cup on the table (he was learning that the Asgardian custom to break the instrument was frowned upon). “You mean to say that you fabricated a story to…”
“To stop our two closest friends from more pining? You bet I did. God it was giving me whiplash.” Tony confessed. Then he pointed to each member present. “And now you know the truth, you’re all accomplices to the crime.”

NEW YORK
Clint runs, his heart beating fast has he watches the Avengers Tower.
“You’re a fucking idiot, get on,” Natasha tells him, handing him an extra helmet.
His bow and arrows clang against his back and the guns on his thigh and at his ankle makes him feel somewhat prepared for whatever greets them.
The Tower is still standing, fire at the entrance and in the surrounds.
He’s terrified it’s going to collapse.
Surely Tony would have measures.
If the sound and the aftershock came from the sub basement then there’s maybe a likelihood that the tower will stay and the foundations may need adjustment; but if it’s anything more than that…
He’s not a damn structural engineer, he has no idea if that’s a better option.
They needs to get there, assess the damage, find their friends.
Clint holds into her tightly and she feels his frustration bleed deep into her.
She speeds, and wills the bike to go faster.
Arriving on the outskirts she hears the roar of the Hulk.
The sound she hates, the roar of frustration.
She can’t see him though.
Undecided if it’s a good or bad thing, Natasha leaves the bike and moves towards the tower; gun out.
“Natasha!” she hears, and Clint covers her, his own gun raised as the fire at the front rages.
Yelena springs towards them, blood on her face and wild grin.
“There’s a hit squad, Hydra I think, did you know?”
A gun shot rings past them, and they all scatter for cover.
Yelena returns the shot, hitting the man square in the head.
Two more appear, one Natasha takes and the second Clint kills quickly.
He nods, as they all find cover.
“I thought they were with you, that you were in there,” Yelena says, pointing upwards and scouting around, as they break cover and move forward.
“When did you get here?” Natasha asks, somewhat redundantly.
“Your invitation, it said be at the tower before Christmas? Did it not?”
It’s not what Natasha meant but it doesn’t matter.
She nods, shooting straight, Clint covering the second shot.
“I didn’t expect a welcome party, and then there was an explosion, I thought you were in there,” she repeats.
Natasha pulls her into a hug on a whim, and Yelena accepts it; melting a small amount.
“The others are in there,” she says, allowing the worry in her words.
The Hulk roars again, and with it comes debris raining down.
“If he keeps going, he’s probably going to bring the tower down,” Natasha thinks out-loud.
Clint nods.
“We need to get up there,” he points.
He shoots two more and groans.
“How many more of these fuckers are there?”
Yelena moves to the edge of the tower.
More debris falls around them, dangerously, and they run together, following Clint to back entrance.
“Someone needs to put that fire out,” he yells, stopping as the see the Hulk jump from one of the higher floors.
He lands heavily on unstable land and parts of the tower fall with him.
“Fuck,” Natasha says, running towards him, wanting to run away.
Yelena stays back, fear in her eyes.
“What are you doing?” she yells, shaking her head and running after her.
Clint gets the door open, and sees Natasha running for the Hulk.
“Hey!” she shouts.
“Big guy!”
Clint holds a hand to stop Yelena moving forward as the Hulk’s attention turns to Natasha.
“We need help!” she tells him.
“Everyone’s inside, and the building is unstable,” she shouts.
He takes a step towards her and Natasha can’t help but take a step back.
“We need to get them out,” she finishes.
He roars and Natasha holds her breath.
She’s not even sure he understands, although Bruce swears that he does, simply more so than anything, if he can think beyond the rage.
“Help us,” she finishes.
The Hulk looks down and sees Natasha, Clint and Yelena, and recognition passes through his face.
“Help,” he repeats.
Picking Natasha up, he jumps with her in hand and lands heavily on already broken levels.
“Nat!” Clint calls, but as more of the building falls, he can’t hear a response.
.
Natasha feels winded.
Though she’s sure he was as gentle as possible, she can feel the bruises where his fingers had grabbed her.
“Help,” he repeats, smashing through a wall like the kool aide man, holding Natasha like a rag doll then setting her down in a safe part of the room.
Steve stares at both of them and she almost wants to hug him.
“Nat!” he exclaims, and coughs heavily.
“They drugged the building, I think? Sam and Maria they’re on this floor somewhere but I haven’t heard from them. Jarvis must have locked it down. Tony and Pepper are below us.”
She hugs him then, glad that he’s okay; that he’s able to talk and the building hasn’t collapsed around him.
It shakes, and she worries about Clint and Yelena below.
“Okay,” she assures, “it’s okay.”
.
Yelena sprints, catapulting herself upwards.
“He has Natasha,” she shouts, the grappling hook penetrating the building as she rappels upwards.
“Come back! She’s okay!” Clint shouts back, “he’ll take her to the others.”
The building shakes and she loses her grip, the stone loosening underneath her and the hook failing to hold her.
“Shit,” she swears, falling to the ground.
.
Natasha tries the door.
“It’s locked,” Steve says redundantly.
The hole in the building leads to the outside and at least a ten story drop; whilst Natasha isn’t scared of heights, the option of going out that way seems more than a little risky.
The Hulk seems to realise and punches another hole into the midsection of tower; resulting in an earthquake like shake of the building.
“No, no,” Natasha says, as calmly as she can; “Stop.”
“You can stop now, thank you, it’s okay, we need you to take a rest, okay?”
There’s a snuff and growl, and Natasha closes her eyes in hope.
The Hulk leaves, bounding away, and when he hits the ground heavily; the building shaking again.
Steve leads them forward, the building feeling unstable and dark as the head up the stairs to the guest rooms that house Maria.
Natasha hates that all of Tony’s work to make the tower Christmasy now seems lost, tinsel that hung up high now litters the floor, and the tiny Christmas trees he placed litter the ground with soil.
She sets one upright and shrugs at Steve as he looks in confusion.
“She’s in the next room,” Natasha tells him, having been there two nights before finalising some of the wedding, that seemed so silly now.
There’s commotion below and she hopes that it’s Tony, and not more Hydra goons.
“It’s an electronic lock,” she tells Steve, ”but with the power being down, there’s a fail safe that it shouldn’t have locked; unless Jarvis thought the tower was under attack.”
Finding the wall panel, she pries it open with her knife and looks at the wires that all look the same in the dark.
Lacking the patience, or the finesse, she grabs them and pulls; the door opening revealing Maria with a gun, pointed at their faces.
Steve and Natasha grin.
“Thank god,” she greets them.
.
Sam paces his room.
Hearing the commotions all around and the building shaking, he tries the door and sighs.
His wings sit inert on the side and he wonders just how hard it would be to break the glass to the outside.
Sam wishes he was armed; his guns not with him as he came to visit his friends for Christmas not for a fight.
He puts on the wings, and sits on the bed; waiting for the next thing to happen.
.
Pepper tries again, the big block of concrete barricading them in. She yells and shouts and tries to push it away from the door.
“Tony, keep talking to me,” she asks, trying keep positive.
“I’m fine,” he responds, “just try and find the panel, like I told you.”
Caught underneath a pile-on, Tony tries to push it again and hears Pepper coughing in the smoke.
“Are you okay?” he asks, and she hears his voice crack.
“Are you?” she responds banging on the wall.
“Just a broken arm,” he replies, hoping that’s all it is as he stares at his arm trapped underneath.
“Just try and find a way out, okay?”
The building shakes again and Tony cringes, Pepper shrieking.
“Pep?” he calls.
“I’m okay,” she replies.
“Pep? Get under something,” he tells her, feeling the shake from the ground before the whole building shakes again and their floor collapses inwards.

Mini Promptathon: 2012 Re-edition!
Tumblr media
What is this? It’s like the big summer promptathon, only a shorter version - a fun, no-pressure event where you can post zero to as many prompts as you like, zero to as many fills as you like, and join in the squee or just quietly enjoy the fun.
It's taking place here on dreamwidth. You don't need a dreamwidth account (or to be part of our community) to play - just please include an online handle of some kind in anon comments so we know who you are and can credit you for your prompts and fills!
We’re a Clintasha (Clint Barton/Natasha Romanoff) community that welcomes ALL THINGS MARVEL. We’d like Clint and/or Natasha to show up in prompt fills somewhere, but what that means is up to you - individually or as friends, lovers, spouses, partners, gen fic, ANYTHING. Yes, that means we also welcome other characters and pairings (and threesomes or moresomes.)
This year’s, by discord vote, the theme is 2012 Re-edition! To set the scene: the year is 2012. Avengers has recently been released, ending MCU Phase One (Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger). Those of us who didn’t get the shawarma after credits scene in our countries are frantically searching for it online. We can quote the Clintasha scenes off by heart. Fandom is going mad for the Avengers living in the Tower together or going on road trips. And if you want more marvel characters? Well, that's what comics are for. Helped by Matt Fraction and David Aja, who have just started their Hawkeye comic (issues 1-6 were released in 2012). Outside of Marvel, fuel is added to the fandom with the release of The Bourne Legacy and a Jeremy Renner photoshoot for Empire involving ropes. (If you want a blast from the past or prompt ideas: original 2012 promptathon post with masterlist links and associated posts.)
TIMELINE:
NOW: the clock has been wound back to 2012, prompting has begun! 12 February: open for fills! (You can also keep prompthing.) MIDIGHT 12 March: promptathon ends, both fills and prompts, at midnight whatever your timezone. (A masterlist of fills will be posted after.)
If you too would like to party like it’s 2012, please read on for how to leave prompts and fills, and a few rules to make sure everyone has a fun time.
LEAVING PROMPTS
Please post each prompt in a separate comment on the dreamdwidth post.
Prompts can be anything – simple or elaborate, words or pictures, songs or poems, lyrics or phrases, anything that could inspire a fanwork. Use your imagination. Go wild! You can also re-use prompts from previous events, whether they were filled or not.
You can leave as many prompts as you want. We’re serious. Keep coming back. We want as many prompts as we can possibly get.
In keeping with the theme, aim to prompt like it’s 2012. As in as if nothing MCU or Marvel etc that was created after 2012 exists. (No harm, no foul for any mistakes! Any prompts and fills that contain content post-2012 just means you’ve created an alternate timeline.)
SUBMITTING FILLS
Respond by commenting in a reply to the prompt that you are filling.
The subject line of your comment should be: FILL: title, rating.
The content of your comment should start with: > Title > Rating (ie film ratings or AO3 style ratings) > Any warnings OR you can say ‘choose not to warn’ (think about the AO3 warnings or take a look at our comm guidance if you’re stuck)
You can then post your entire fanwork in the comment if it’s short enough OR you can post your fanwork anywhere else on the internet and post a link to it in your comment.
Following these guidelines 1) makes it easier for people to find your fills during the event as a one-stop shop, and know what they’re clicking on and 2) makes it a LOT easier for your mods to create a masterlist at the end, without missing any of your fills. Thank you!
Consider including a teaser to catch people’s attention! If you’re posting on AO3, we have a ‘Community: be_compromised’ tag. If you’re posting on tumblr, let us know and we’ll reblog on the be_compromised tumblr. We want people to be able to find and appreciate your fills <3
There’s no length requirement on fanworks submitted. You can create drabbles or epics, vids, art, fanmixes, anything at all; it’s just all about getting creative! Fills do not have to be complete or completed during the promptathon. You can fill as many prompts as you want, and prompts can be filled multiple times by whoever wants to fill them. Zero pressure; all fun.
In keeping with the theme, aim to fill prompt like it’s 2012. As in as if nothing MCU or Marvel etc that was created after 2012 exists. (No harm, no foul for any mistakes! Any prompts and fills that contain content post-2012 just means you’ve created an alternate timeline.)
SQUEE
We have a generic thread for comments, questions, and chat as the first comment thread on the dreamwidth post. We welcome chatting and cheerleading in replies to prompts and fills. (This is where posting each prompt separately and labelling the subject line of fills helps to keep things organised.) We also have a be_compromised discord server for all kinds of discussion if you prefer a chatroom-style space. (Although as above, all prompts and fills will be in this post as a one-stop shop.)
Commenting, cheerleading, and enthusiasm is a huge part of fandom and you are very welcome to join in! Yes, even if you don’t post any prompts or fills.
GENERAL RULES
Our Community Rules apply to this event. To summarise: > No character or ship bashing. This is a positive fandom space. > No plagiarism or use of AI.  > Please no RPF (Real Person Fanfiction) or any gossip/speculation about actors’ off-screen non-work lives, as the primary focus of this community is fictional characters. > Please including a rating for fanworks and a warning OR choose not to warn. > Be kind and have fun!
If you have any questions about anything please feel free to ask! The easiest way is to use the ‘Questions / Comments / Squee’ thread, which is in the first comment to this post, or ask on the Discord server. Your mods are @inkvoices, @cloud--atlas aka franztastisch, and @quidnunc-life aka gsparkle.
Welcome back to 2012. We’re bringing the party to you!

The Avengers: Final Part
Pairing: Loki x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~2.6k
Warnings: canon violence and angst
Author’s Note: any and all comments are appreciated <3
Tumblr media
x
Thor escapes from Stark Tower and heads down to the streets where Steve, Nat, and Clint are. More Chitauri come to overtake them but he uses his lightning to kill them.
"What's the story upstairs?" Steve asks Thor.
You don't know what's going on down there but you can hear their conversation due to the earpieces everyone has in.
"The power surrounding the cube is impenetrable."
"Thor's right. We have to deal with these guys first," you say and shoot fireballs at the aliens you pass by.
"How do we do this?"
"As a team."
"I have unfinished business with Loki," Thor says.
"Yeah, get in line," Clint scoffs.
"Save it. Loki's gonna keep this fight focused on us and that's what we need. Without him, these things could run wild. We got Stark and Y/N up top, and they're gonna need us to--"
Steve suddenly stops talking because Bruce comes rolling in on a motorcycle he stole. You look down to see him come in all the while killing as many aliens as you can
"So, this all seems horrible," Bruce sighs.
"I've seen worse," Natasha says.
"Sorry."
"No. We could use a little worse."
"Stark? Y/N? We got Banner here."
"Tell him to suit up. I'm bringing the party to you."
With the Leviathan chasing after Tony, he makes a sharp turn and heads back down the street where Bruce is. If anyone can take out this huge monster without burning the entire Earth down, it's the Hulk.
"I... I don't see how that's a party," Natasha sighs.
Tony swoops down the street with the Leviathan following closely behind. Bruce looks at the monster and begins walking toward it with determination.
"Dr. Banner. Now might be a really good time for you to get angry," Steve says.
"That's my secret, Cap," Bruce looks back at him, "I'm always angry."
Just as he turns to face the Leviathan, Bruce starts to swell, stretch, and harden to that of the Hulk. He transforms just in time to send a deadly punch to the Leviathan's snout. It does a 180 turn in the sky and its armor starts falling off. Tony extends his arm and shoots a rocket at a soft spot to blow it up, and the Avengers down below take cover to avoid the falling debris. You fly down to join the others but hover in the air just like what Tony is doing as the others crowd around each other for the fight you all know is coming.
From the portal, two more Leviathans come swimming out while hundreds more soldiers fly through.
"Call it, Cap," Tony says.
"Alright, listen up. Until we can close that portal up there, we're gonna use containment. Barton, I want you on that roof with eyes on everything." Steve points to a nearby building. "Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything that gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash."
"Wanna give me a lift?" Clint asks Tony.
"Right. Better clench up, Legolas."
Tony grabs Clint and lifts him to the top of the building.
"Thor, you've gotta try and bottleneck that portal. Slow them down. You've got the lightning. Light the bastards up. Y/N, go with him. Work that water power."
You and Thor fly over to the Empire State Building which is near where the portal is. He is going to use that as a beacon for the lighting he summons. You stay floating in midair as you conjure as much water as you can without it being dangerous to the city below. Thor raises his hammer to the sky as storm clouds roll in. Lightning strikes his hammer and lights the top of the Empire State Building with electricity.
"Now!" you yell.
Just as Thor directs a strong line of lightning at the portal, you shoot the water over to it. The aliens flying out of it get sucked into the large pool of water just as the lightning strikes it. A Leviathan is trying to fly out of the portal but gets caught in the electricity. Everyone that is inside your pool gets electrocuted to death while the others out of it get struck by the lightning.
Thor can handle the rest so you evaporate the water before flying off to help your team down below.
"Captain, none of this is gonna mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal," Natasha pants.
"Our biggest guns couldn't touch it."
"Well, maybe it's not about guns."
She gestures to the flying chariots that the Chitauri is using. If she can control one of those, then she might have some leverage on the Tesseract.
"If you wanna get up there, you're gonna need a ride."
"Nat, on your six. Heads up."
Natasha looks up to see you flying her way and you swoop down to pick her off the street. You fly higher to one of the chariots and drop her before taking a hard turn and flying away. She sticks two knives into the rider's nervous system to control the chariot.
Thor and the Hulk are on top of a Leviathan fighting Chitauri soldiers so you fly down underneath the belly of the monster. Your entire body goes up in flames so you can take it down from the underside. You touch a soft spot and fly opposite of it so you can slide a line of fire down the belly. It roars in pain and crashes into Grand Central Station.
Thor and Hulk stand in silence for a second before Hulk punches Thor so he goes flying into the side of the train station.
"Hey, big guy, he's on our side. Come on," you sigh.
Hulk grumbles and you shake your head.
"Captain, the bank on 42nd past Madison caught a lot of civilians there."
"I'm on it. I'm closer," you state and fly into the air.
You head over to the bank crawling with Chitauri with guns and humans are cowering in the middle of the bank in fear that they will die. Well, not on your watch. The aliens turn to you when you land inside and point their guns at you. You use your air powers and lift every single one of them in the air and you blast them away into the city below. One of the aliens was hidden behind some desks that are piled up across the room so he was affected by your powers. He aims his gun at you and shoots, and you go flying back into the cement column inside the bank. It doesn't kill you but it does hurt like Hell. Everyone looks at you to make sure you're okay and you give them a small smile to ease their concerns.
"Everyone, go out the back room. Get out of the streets and down below. Quickly!"
You get up and fly back over to the Chitauri with fire in your hands. You shoot two balls of fire at it before flying back outside to help your teammates with the fight. The people inside the bank are going to be okay and you've taken care of the aliens threatening them. The first responders help the civilians out of the bank and to one of the nearby subway tunnels. You hover in midair and look at the destroyed city around you. How the hell did this happen?
Suddenly, a loud BOOM comes from Stark Tower, and you see Loki crash through the same window he threw Tony out of. Seconds later, you see an angry green mass enter through the same window. Shit. You quickly fly toward the tower to see Loki and Hulk in each other's faces.
"ENOUGH! ALL OF YOU ARE BENEATH ME! I AM A GOD, YOU DULL CREATURE AND I WILL NOT BE BULLIED BY--"
Hulk doesn't let Loki finish his sentence because he grabs Loki by the legs and smashes him into the floor multiple times. If Loki was human, he would be dead for sure. Instead, Loki is banged up and weak since Hulk is a lot stronger than him physically. The floor caves in under Loki, and Hulk walks away with an angry look on his face.
"Puny God."
Hulk passes by you and jumps out the window to continue fighting the Chitauri. You land on the floor and walk over to Loki who can't seem to move because he's in so much pain. You kneel next to him and move his hair away from his eyes. He looks into yours with confusion, hurt, betrayal, and something that calls out to you.
"You're not this man, Loki. You would be so much happier if you'd just let this go. Thor might be King of Asgard one day but that doesn't make you less than him. If only you can see what I see," you whisper.
You get up to join the fight again when you hear Fury's voice come over the earpiece.
"Stark, you hear me? We have a missile headed straight for the city."
"How long?"
"Three minutes, at best. Stay low and wipe out the missile."
"Tony, you need me to help?" you ask and fly out of the building.
"No, your powers would blow it up, and I don't think water would disable it. I got a plan."
You look at the balcony and see Loki's scepter and look up to see Natasha on the roof staring at it. You grab it and fly it up to her. When Erik was blasted back by the power of the Tesseract, he hit his head just right and was able to snap out of whatever Loki did to him. He is now back in "scientist mode" and is working hard to try and shut the portal down. Natasha takes the scepter and places the tip on the forcefield around the Tesseract. When she pushes, the tip pushes past the barrier and closer to the Tesseract.
"I can close it! Can anybody hear me? I can shut the portal down!" she yells.
"Do it!" Steve yells back.
"No, wait!" Tony interrupts.
"Stark, these things are still coming!"
"I got a nuke coming in and it's gonna blow in less than a minute. I know just where to put it."
You look back and see the missile Fury was talking about. The council must have done this. Fury would not have let something like this happen. Tony grabs the missile and veers it off course by pushing up so that instead of heading to the city, he's headed straight for the portal.
"Stark, you know that's a one-way trip, right?" Steve asks.
Tony doesn't answer because he knows it. You start to fly up to help Tony when Natasha grabs your hand to prevent you from doing so.
"We can't lose two people."
"We're not losing Tony. He's gonna make it out."
When Tony passes through the portal, he is shocked at seeing the Chitauri mother ship. His suit can't handle the stress of being in space so it starts to freeze. Tony doesn't have access to Jarvis which means he doesn't have access to his oxygen filtration system. He is using what he has left in the suit but if he continues to be there, he will die.
"Come on, Tony," you whisper.
The Mother ship explodes in contact with the missile, and all of the aliens on Earth begin to die off. It's like the mother ship was their power source and without it, they can't live. The Chitauri convulse before dropping to the ground like flies. The aftershock of the explosion creeps toward the portal. If Natasha doesn't close it, then Earth will feel the effects of a nuke going off.
"Close it," Steve says.
Without hesitating, Natasha shoves the scepter into the Tesseract and quickly pulls it out, causing the entire system to shut down. The portal shuts off as it gets smaller and smaller. You're looking around for Tony and spot him falling back down to Earth. He passes through the portal seconds before it closes, and you smile at the thought of not losing your friend. However, Tony doesn't fly off. Instead, he keeps freefalling down to Earth. He will die if he hits the ground.
"He's not slowing down," Thor exclaims.
"I got it!"
You take off flying toward Tony and slam your body into his to slow him down. You grab Tony'sarm and pull him into you so that you're controlling the speed in which he falls. You gently bring him back down to where Steve, Thor, and Hulk are. You rip off his mask so you can see his face, and you check his pulse by placing two fingers on the side of his neck.
"Come on, Tony. Wake up."
Hulk yells in Fury and that's enough to startle Tony awake. He gasps and looks around frantically. You sigh in relief and sit back on your heels.
"What the hell? What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me."
"We won," Steve chuckles.
"Alright. Hey. Alright. Good job, guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day. Have you ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is but I wanna try it."
"We're not finished yet."
You look up at Stark Tower when you hear Thor's voice and think of Loki who is still probably on the ground after the beating he got from Hulk.
"Okay, then shawarma after," Tony groans.
"Come on, get up."
You help Tony to his feet and the three men head up to the penthouse, Natasha makes her way down from the roof, and you fly over to Clint to bring him through the busted window. Loki is just now getting enough strength to sit up, and he sighs when he sees all seven Avengers staring at him with angry looks. Well, six of them are. You're sad for him at what he's become. This wasn't his choice. You refuse to believe it.
"If it's all the same to you. I'll have that drink," he chuckles.
As soon as SHIELD heard that it was safe to come down to the city and start the clean-up process, they took the scepter so that it was in their possession for testing. The Tesseract will remain with Thor and Loki because that is their only way of getting back to Asgard since the rainbow bridge is still gone.
It's going to take a long time to rebuild the city into what it was before, but you're not going to be here to see it. If the Tesseract is going with Thor and Loki, you have to go with it. It still holds so many answers to all of your questions. If you can study it, you'll be able to learn more about it and who you are. Plus, you have unfinished business with Loki.
Thor has placed Loki in handcuffs with a muzzle over his mouth. He will be facing Asgardian punishment which is fine with the other Avengers. The Tesseract is inside a glass tube with two handles on either side of it. Thor has one side in his hand while Loki has the other.
"Are you sure you want to leave?" Steve asks you. "I just got you back."
"I know. Trust me, I would stay here with you if I could. I have to know more about who I am, and the Tesseract will give me that."
"Is that the only reason?"
You look back at Loki who hasn't taken his eyes off you. You turn back to Steve with tears in your eyes.
"I have to go with him."
"He's no good for you, Y/N."
"I believe differently. I'll be back here as soon as I can. Thank you for understanding."
You walk to the brothers and place one hand on Thor's shoulder and one on Loki's. Thor uses the power of the Tesseract to beam all three of you back to Asgard. Heimdall saw everything that happened on Earth, so when you arrive on the remaining rainbow bridge, a plethora of guards are standing there waiting for Loki.
Being back here brings more memories to light, memories you never knew you had. Going down memory lane is going to hurt but is necessary if you're going to help Loki and figure out who you are as a person.

✧◝A family morning◜✧
Avengers x reader
*.✧ "My existence is a scandal" Oscar Wilde
Tumblr media
a/n In this fanfic my favorite avengers are all together, there's no war or any conflict between them and Bucky is here, that man needs attention. Peter and Reader are the same age and Reader's pronounce is they/them. And it's like my second time writing something so please no hate.
pairing: Avengers x reader platonic
Summary: The Stark Tower is never boring if two sunshines light up the mood expecially after party Tony organized.
Warnings‼️One or two curse words, alcohol (cuz it's Thor), drinking in young age, overall just fluff
Natasha and Wanda were first to wake up after a party Tony made. Steve was third to wake up, then the rest joined them. Thor was drinking beer as always, others have tea or coffee as a morning drink but not Thor. Clint, Natasha and Wanda were shit talking a man's ass off, the one who tried to dance with Natasha but failed.
Sam and Bucky were playing uno, the game made Sam want to end his life because Bucky was winning third time in a row but he couldn't stop playing because that would bring satisfaction to his enemy. Tony and Pepper were talking, probably Tony trying to flirt but Pepper looked like she was not having it, but in reality she was trying so hard to not be a blushing mess and give Tony another reason to have big ego.
Two people were missing, two sunshines and troublesome teens. Natasha asked "Someone will wake them up?"
Tony answered "Nah the-" The avengers could hear the footsteps running in theirs direction as if theirs life was on line. "They awake. Dear company the gate to zoo is open"
They waited until they saw faces of Peter and Reader, Reader was ahead of Peter with a big smile because they knew that they won. "Morning!" Reader yelled and ran to the bathroom closing the door as fast as they could so Peter wouldn't try to get in and kick Readers out, they are more fast but he's a lot stronger then them. Fucking spider powers.
Peter knocked his body on the door mumbling something, frustrated was heard in his voice. "You have to get used to it kid, they will always be first." Tony said.
"Oh- good morning mr Stark" Peter said as if he didn't acknowledge him before. He sat near the couch Sam and Bucky were playing, Sam tossed the cards on the coffee table already done with it making Bucky laugh. Pepper being the mum of the group asked Peter if he wants coffee or a tea but Tony cut them off.
"No he's to young to drink coffee make him a tea" "Mr Stark-" "Are you doubting my reason?" "No sir-" "Then be quite you will drink tea"
Peter didn't said anything back, Reader went out of the bathroom and came to the counter near Thor saying hi to him. They saw a opportunity to finally drink beer, just a little taste and they already had a plan, but now they need a distraction for Thor.
"Hey Thor did you know that they did a new bar near the tower it can be seen if you look out of the window"
And that's what Thor needed to hear to have better morning, he left his beer on the counter and came close to the window looking for the new bar. But didn't see anything. "I don't see it" "Because you're getting old- sharp your eyesight it has to be right in front of you"
Natasha, Wanda and Clint saw what Reader was going to do and just smirked or raised eyebrow. When Reader thought it was the perfect time they sipping the beer Thor had left and it didn't get unnoticed for Steve. When Thor turned back to them already planing to tell Reader that there isn't a new bar he saw that Steve lifted the back of theirs shirt making them yelp and tossed them on the second couch.
Peter laughed at them, Reader answered with sticking theirs tongue making Peter laugh more. "Stop laughing! Didn't you want to go to the bathroom?" "Oh yeah"
Peter walked to the direction of the bathroom and Reader saw it as a perfect moment to stick theirs leg out making Peter trip. "Hey!" Tony rolled his eyes at them.
And that's how the daily argument started, nothing new but it wasn't getting boring, they all were enjoying the company of the two sunshines who lighted the room. Of course if you would ask Tony about it he would say it's annoying but deep down he likes mornings like these.

Tumblr media
When you woke up from your coma, Tony was waiting for you on the sofa next to your bed with Pepper by his side.
Everything ached from your injuries and the lack of movement from the past weeks that you’d laid on that bed, exhaustion settled in your bones -even though you had been sleeping for so long-. Therefore, you had to take a minute before you decided to move again, deep breaths as the burning of your muscles continued for more than what you would’ve liked, it felt like multiple parts of your body were going to break in half.
“Don’t move, y/n,” Tony stated and your eyes locked with his.
You didn’t think you’d ever seen Tony so broken. He had cuts all over his face, even stitches above his brows, and a black eye that you recalled seeing at the airport in Berlin. He had deep purple bags under his eyes, which was something your dad would never get, it didn’t matter how many sleepless nights he spent but that never happened to him, his red-rimmed eyes were also an indication that he had been crying and you guessed it was your fault.
It was usually your fault when he was worried and yet, you didn’t recall seeing him so broken at the airport, in fact, you didn’t even recall how you got from the airport to what appeared to be the medical wing of the compound.
“What -Where am I?” you croaked, your throat tied and heavy.
“There was,” Tony stated but he cut himself off quickly. “You were trying to run with Steve and,” Tony swallowed hard. “Wanda was holding the tower and, uhm…”
It suddenly clicked.
You were crushed.
The debris. You were flying to the hangar right behind Steve and Bucky, you were almost there and then everything turned dark, you tried to fight your way under the debris but something hit you in the head and torso and you landed on the pavement. You felt like your lungs were going to explode and although your suit soften some of the debris falling on your body it wasn’t enough to avoid the damage.
You remember Steve and Bucky trying to get you out as your raw screams ricocheted through the walls of the hangar and ripped through your lungs. You recalled Steve’s tears as he realized that he couldn’t get you out without help, you recalled tasting the blood on your mouth and telling Steve to go. You remember Natasha taking your hand and crying too, assuring you that you’d be fine, and then Tony’s screams, those screams were tattooed on you like your scars.
Soon, everything had turned black.
Until then.
“Where’s Steve?” you asked Tony, who shook his head as he looked away. “Are they in jail?”
“No, they aren’t but they are not coming back,” Tony muttered. “And neither will you, y/n.”
You frowned at his answer, your stomach-dropping, the bedroom seemed to be spinning around.
“What are you talking about?” you whispered.
“The suit, the experiment of being an Avenger, it’s over” Tony stated with a tormented gaze.
You felt as if walls were crushing down on you, again.
But if Tony believed you were done, he had to be delusional.
It took you a couple of months, lots of physical therapy, and sleepless nights but nine months after your coma you were back on the streets. No one knew, except for Harley, who suspected your activities but never dared to ask.
If your wild behavior for a couple of months before had any good outcome was that no one even thought about what you were actually doing at night. People believed the worst, that’s what people liked to believe about you, they liked to believe that you were partying, spending your trust fund money on drinks, dresses, and drugs.
Instead, you spent your time working on helping people. You’d spent hours in dark, creeping on the rooftops of buildings with HAPPY letting you know the latest intel on police matters and even white-collar crimes, for the first year you’d decided to go easy and simply give any leads you could hack your way into to the police or even the Avengers. No one realized when a lead came from you and honestly, once they knew how good the tips that you gave them were, they weren’t so concerned with knowing actually who had given it to them. After that you started to actually fight, bank robberies or robberies, in general, were a good training method, seeing if a guy followed a girl home too and even sometimes you kicked the police’s ass when they were abusing their power.
No one ever recognized you and you didn’t even give yourself a name. You refused to speak, you usually wore a black suit like the one Natasha used to wear accompanied by a mask that covered your face, even your hair. You’d reinforced it with some nanobots but the most important feature that you kept from your Iron suit were the gauntlets that you wore.
Which came in handy, especially in the last sixth months.
The last six months had been a ride.
On one of your nights out you’d been following some men that had been following a girl, they seemed like the unfortunately normal cat-callers, but then one took a knife to the girl's throat and forced her to get into a vehicle. You quickly sent flying a microchip that was stuck on the rooftop of the car and followed them carefully by flying out of sight. You ended up in an empty parking lot where other men were waiting. It didn’t take much, you quickly sent the snipper bullets that you had, leaving them injured and on the floor before they could even know what was happening, you’d managed to rescue the girl and take her to a safe place.
When you came back to Stark Tower you spent hours researching, you hadn’t even realized it was the next morning until you heard Tony walking to his lab and you had to hide. You kept surveilling and getting intel, after a few weeks on the dark web you’d found a human trafficking network managed by the Russians on Hell’s Kitchen.
You immediately left clues to the NYPD but after a few weeks it didn’t seem like they were going to do anything about it, they might send it to the feds because of the magnitude of the case but you knew that they were wasting time. Therefore, you decided to take it into your own hands. You’d been busting their trades and even installed an alarm that let you know any reports on missing girls or strange activities in the places that were commonly used for the trade-offs.
Which had ringed again when you were with Peter at the party.
You managed to kiss him goodbye on the cheek before you were bolting out of the apartment and grabbed the suit from the trunk of the car, you quickly flew to a port near Queens, full of containers, where they would usually place girls. You landed softly on one and peeked into the scene in front of you.
There were around ten men carrying six girls, the men were around forty’s or fifties and as HAPPY told you on your earpiece, they all had a criminal history. You cursed mentally as you realized this might be the biggest group you would take on but you didn’t care and less about the scene happening in front of you.
“If you move again, I’ll shoot your brains out,” one of the men yelled at the top of his lungs as the girls screamed in fear and covered themselves, huddling together.
And you decided that it was enough.
“I wouldn’t do that boys,” you spoke and all the men turned towards where your voice came from, they tried to find you in between the shadows but before they could find you, you were firing at them with your gauntlets.
Three of them fell at the same time you heard the other’s guns clicking. In a second, they were firing at you and you launch yourself towards them, dodging the bullets before you landed on the floor with full force and grabbed one of the remaining seven by his upper body while launching your legs to hit one of the men that were behind him with your legs, kicking him to the floor, knocking him out before -thanks to the momentum- driving the one you were holding to the floor, making him hit his head against the pavement.
You continued, raising yourself before firing with your gauntlet at another one that was about to shoot you and then continuing with the guy after him. The man groaned as soon as you jab him at his jaw and then, quickly took his gun, disassemble it quickly and use the tail of the gun to break his nose.
You huffed as you turned around and skipped more bullets, running towards the other line of containers, trying to keep the girls that were huddled together inside the container safe from the bullets. You only had four left but they seemed to be more prepared than the others, you stayed silently behind one container as the screams of agony and pain were filling the air from the other man who seemed to still be conscious after your attacks.
But then you heard another gun clicking and before you could even take a breath, you turned on the corner of the container and found two of the remaining men, you quickly gave a roundhouse kick that knocked one of them unconscious while taking his gun and firing at the other guy's legs, letting him scream as he fell to the floor. You groaned at the sight of blood, if there was one thing you disliked was using guns. You enjoyed the guns that Tony and you had created, they weren’t completely lethal if you used them the right way and although you hated to think about your body count, you knew that it would be dangerous if you didn’t care.
“Can you stop screaming?” you muttered to the man that was already crying on the floor as he held his leg. You quickly ripped the cloth off the other guy's shirt and walked towards him.
“GET AWAY FROM ME!” He screamed even louder which only served you to roll your eyes before tapping twice your temple so you could examine the situation on a more in-depth level.
“You didn’t hit any major artery, Miss Stark,” HAPPY said on your ear and you nodded as he pointed to the injury and you saw in detail how it was.
“Yeah, yeah,” you muttered before you kneeled down and quickly made a tourniquet on his leg, just in case, before the police arrived and took him to the hospital.
“What are you…” the guy muttered before you were finishing your knot.
“That’s it, you can stop screaming it’s fine,” you grumbled with a sigh. The guy kept staring at you, bug-eyed and confused with your behavior, maybe it was off-putting, the person who had shot you was also the one that injured you in the first place but you didn’t care.
You stood up and started to walk away, trying to find the other two that were missing, you were hoping that they didn’t get away but you knew the members of the mafia, they often didn’t give up.
“Thank you,” he whispered and you turned around with a smirk, although he couldn’t see it.
“You are welcome,” you muttered.
You quickly turned around but you regretted it immediately, you felt your stomach sinking as you gave a step back but the knife still found you.
One of the men with a wicked smile sunk it down on your stomach and you flinched as you felt it tearing your skin and then your insides. You’d been hurt a million times before but you were so used to everything but close-range combat and although yes, you’d been training for over two years now; it was still something you felt off about.
Maybe you were fearful of that, of getting stabbed.
You’d never been stabbed.
Crushed? Yes. Fired at with guns? Yes. Launched into walls and through them? Yes. Grazed? Yes. Fell from the sky? Yes.
You would usually shake those ones off, you would usually understand your body and how long it needed to heal, how it felt when injured in those ways.
But this felt so personal. It felt like seconds turned into minutes that turned into hours as you gazed at the light eyes of the man in front of you. And yet, you didn’t budge, you didn’t gasp or scream at the burn that the knife was causing on your stomach.
Instead, you just felt so angry.
You glared at the man in front of you and before your movements caught up with your head, you had fired the guy in the head, making him launch to the river, pulling the knife away from his stomach as you hissed at the move. Involuntarily you fell to your knees as you quickly put your hand in a fist and the gauntlet sprayed some regenerative liquid on your wound, it was the newest addition to your arsenal, newly developed by you and although you were planning to use it if some girl you’d found was injury, it still served the same purpose. You hoped it would stop the bleeding definitely or enough to fight the guy that remained.
Especially now that he was getting closer to you. You groaned as you stood up and hid under one of the containers as you managed to dodge the bullets that were being filed against you. You wince as they hit the containers loudly and by the bullets falling onto the pavement and the screams from the guy of the leg that was begging his partner not to hit him, you knew he was getting closer.
You took a deep breath as you prepared to fire one shot to the guy's head so he would stop but as you were about to turn around, you heard something, a twhip!
And then a voice.
His voice.
“That’s not how you treat a lady,” someone muttered, the shots started again but to another place, and then you heard again that twhip! And then a groan.
You peeked and there it was.
Spiderman.

20 Questions for Fanfci writers
I was tagged by @thetragicallynerdy ! Thank you!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
278. Please remember I've been writing for 20+ years and I did port everything over when I left LJ.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
4,491,070, but that is artificially inflated from the 800k repost of Leda Verse in one file, so it's actually 3.6 million give or take.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Right now just OFMD, but uh...many. So many.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. How (thanks to Gabriel) Dean and Castiel (accidentally) raised each other (and Sam). Supernatural. Dean/Castiel. Sam/Gabriel. I wrote this 11 years ago. It's a juggernaut.
2. A Mountain I'm Willing to Die On. Zootopia. Judy Hopps/Nick Wilde. I have no defense, I was compelled as soon as I saw the movie.
3. (Redacted because fuck J.K. Rowling, but I refuse to take down work and pretend that I was never in the fandom. The story comes with a very clear disclaimer that I do not support or agree with her in any way.)
4. Jonathan to his David. MCU. Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes. The one were Steve has a tiny penis and Bucky is into it.
5. All the First Times. MCU. Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes. One of those stories where Bucky heals in the Avengers Tower.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
YES! Because I love to stay thank you and it helps build community! <3 Love you all.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Treacherous Waters. The Hobbit. Fili/Kili. I got many shrieking comments on this one, including 'I actually curled around my computer making distressed sounds of horror' Very proud of myself for that one.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
That's pretty subjective. A lot of my fics end pretty happily with personal growth, found family, and parties.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
So far I've mostly managed to avoid being picked up on that radar. I've gotten stray comments, but it's rarely hate. I think it's mostly because I've never quite gotten popular enough to draw that kind of attention. I know the more attention a fic has gotten, the more likely I am to start to get odd comments or asks. I'm also not very active on Twitter which I think helps.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Rarely! I used to subscribe to the theory that if you don't put in smut, no one will read your work, but as birthday present to myself five or six year ago, I just stopped writing it as an experiment and while my hits went down, not nearly as much as you'd think. Now I only write if the mood really strikes me and am much happier for it.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Yep! I don't think it was crazy, but I wrote a short Avengers/Mad Max one that I'm pretty proud of: Fresh Eden
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not stolen. I did have them put on Goodreads without permission which was a weird moment in fandom a few years back. I mean it's possible someone's stolen something and I haven't found out yet, I guess. My book has been pirated though.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Thanks to all the translators out there, you do incredible work for your community.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
A few times! Nothing super recent though there's WIP out there.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I don't have one. I'm a consummate multishipper. I will say my most consistent ship over the years is Brian/Bender of The Breakfast Club. I will always go back to that well.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
The SMAU I was working on in OFMD. It was a really fun experiment and I don't really have that much left to go, but the amount of work to make it was extensive.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue. I really love writing how people talk to each other and I think a lot about tone and vocabulary and styles.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Plotting. I tend to go by the seat of my pants.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I will generally just note when someone has switched languages. I don't have any confidence in auto translators and unless it's an established canon nickname or endearment, I try to avoid it. I admire multilingual authors so much!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Buffy! I was fifteen and it was a Willow/Spike fic. That was...almost twenty five years ago.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
The answer changes, and for a long time it was this Sam/Gabriel fic where I put my whole philosophy major ass into it. But these days, it's definitively Leda House and the Kraken Verse. How could it not be?
---
Thanks so much for the tag, this was a lot of fun!! Neat to look back, too.
I'm gonna tag (but only if you feel like it friends!) @internerdionality @museaway @napneeders
If you didn't get tagged but see this and want to do it, consider yourself tagged!!

Hello, World, I'm Your Wild Girl (Pandora's Box)- Chapter 10
Main Masterlist - Pandora's Box Masterlist
A/N: Okay, so uhm this is a chapter I wasn't sure how to go about and it turned into a cliche party fic. Whoopsies. Enjoy the fluff while it lasts. Yes, the chapter name comes from Cherry Bomb by the Runaways.
Tumblr media
After that incident, nothing much changed. Pandora avoided the subject at all costs, and Loki didn’t push it. He figured that with time, things would become clearer. He wasn’t going to risk fracturing one of his only friendships.
The next step in Pandora’s new journey was to be introduced to the world. Well, re-introduced. Some of the world already knew her, just under different names. But she was never the center of attention, so it was unlikely anybody would remember Pandora, the bartender Roxie, the waitress Leslie, or any of the other facades Pandora had hid behind.
Unfortunately, the best way to introduce her to the world that Stark could come up with was a party. A party where invitations had been sent out to the press before Pandora even heard a word about it.
When Tony struck her with the news, she looked at him with wide eyes. “A party? To introduce myself to the public? Absolutely not. That’s ridiculous.”
Tony looked at her like she was the one who was being ridiculous. “Why not? I have parties all the time, the press will never see it coming. It’ll be great. And don’t worry, the press and all the other boring people will get cleared out after an hour or so, leaving us to celebrate!”
Pandora shook her head. “Tony, it’s going to be a nightmare. You don’t want me anywhere near the press, I don’t know what to say! ‘Hey, I’m this magical girl that’s been living amongst you with no one the wiser?’ Plus, parties are dumb. I don’t do parties.”
“Don’t worry, my PR team will work with you. Plus, you’re an avenger, you do parties now. It’s part of the job description.” Tony said, tilting his head. “Which, actually, I think Pepper asked me to get you to sign that. Something for the job, I don’t know, just go talk to her about it sometime.”
Natasha, who was sitting nearby, jumped into the conversation. “Don’t worry, there’s been much harder introductions that have been made about members on our team. It’ll be over before you know it. Public opinion isn’t that hard to win over, just ask the PR team. They’ve worked wonders with some of the shit Tony’s done.”
Tony’s eyebrows shot up. “Hey! I never do anything that bad .” He said, but everyone in the room knew that was a lie. He had done some pretty stupid things.
~~~~~
Pandora, Natasha, Wanda, and Pepper weaved in and out of stores, looking for the perfect outfit to make her first appearance to the public. According to the PR team she had been working with the past few weeks, first appearances were everything.
So she tried on all different colors and styles of dresses and suits, looking for the right one. Although, unfortunately, the PR team suggested not wearing a suit for the first appearance. The public could be brutal, even if wearing a suit meant absolutely nothing about anything. That was just how the world worked.
That didn’t stop her from trying on some suits though. She even bought one to keep for a future occasion.
With each dress she tried on, there was always something wrong. The color was off, the waist was too tight, the neckline dipped a little too far. Pandora was about to call it quits for the day until she tried on a beautiful golden dress.
Not quite long enough to touch the floor, it was the perfect length. The color wasn’t an ugly yellow, it was a gold that matched the shimmer that Pandora’s magic sometimes left behind.
When Pandora stepped out of the dressing room, the rest of the girls nodded. “This is the one.” Wanda said without hesitance, and so they bought it. Pandora was relieved to be done with trying on clothes. It was always so exhausting.
They made it back to the tower in time for Pandora to nap off the shopping before her next session with the PR team.
~~~~~
The night of the party, Pandora was nervous. Under regular circumstances, she could drink a little to ease her nerves, but she didn’t want to risk the alcohol making her say something dumb. Especially with the world watching.
Her hair wasn’t in space buns like they typically were, but instead in a singular bun. The front bits of her hair framed her face in waves.
She exited her room and started her walk to the elevator. Loki was also heading to the party, and they met in the hallway.
He flashed her a smile. “You ready?” He asked as they stepped into the elevator. He pressed the button for the second-to-last floor, where the party was being held.
Pandora let out a sigh. “Not really, but I don’t think that matters at this point.” She fiddled with her necklace.
“I’m sure you’ll be fine. Give people just enough truth to keep them satisfied, while fabricating in other elements.” He sounded so well versed in the art of public speaking.
Pandora smirked. “You have experience with lying to the public, mischief?”
Loki smirked right back at her. “You know I do, darling.”
The elevator reached their destination, and they stepped off in sync. They could already hear the music.
As they reached the door, Loki turned to Pandora. “I’ll go in first. Wait a few minutes before you make your entrance. Don’t want the public to see us walk in together. My reputation isn’t the best, and you don’t need nasty rumors already.”
Pandora frowned, but knew that he was right, so she agreed. Loki took one more look at her before he grabbed the handle to the door.
“By the way, you look stunning tonight.” He winked at her. “Good luck.” With that, he opened the door and entered the party. Pandora felt herself blush lightly at his compliment.
After a few minutes, she gathered all the courage she could muster and walked in. Faces turned towards her, and conversations seemed to die down. Pandora took a deep breath and smiled.
Then, once the shock wore off, people were all over her. They shot questions at her and took pictures, crowding around her.
Luckily, Tony saw the struggle and made his way over to her. “Okay people, there’s a designated Q&A later, let her breathe first.” The crowd reluctantly dispersed, and Pandora gave Tony her thanks.
Pandora mingled with both familiar and unfamiliar faces, some friendly, some not. It wasn’t long before Tony came to get her and brought her to the stairs that lead to a small stage with a microphone. He told her to walk on when he signaled, and so he went on first.
“Ladies and gentlemen!” He tapped the mic to ensure that it was working, and the attention of the room shifted to him. “It is with great honor here tonight that we get to welcome the newest member of the Avengers. Please welcome Pandora!”
The crowd clapped and cheered as Pandora walked onto the stage and took her place next to Tony, who cleared his throat to quiet the crowd. “She will now be taking your questions, and please keep the questions appropriate to the situation.”
He gave her a thumbs up and exited the stage, leaving Pandora alone.
Then came the questions. Several people spoke at once, and she could only make out a jumbled mess of words. So she held up a hand, and to her relief, the crowd quieted. She pointed to one of the reporters near the front. “You first.”
The reporter beamed. “How exactly did you become an Avenger?”
Pandora gave a smile that she had practiced in the mirror, as requested by the PR team. “Well, to make a long story short, I ran into some of the other Avengers and we had a misunderstanding of sorts, but I suppose I must have grown on them since I was offered the job.”
She picked out the next person to ask a question. “What do your powers include? What do you bring to the team?”
“I practice an ancient magic that is beyond the reach of most individuals. I can use this to assist in any of my new duties.” Simple and short, not revealing too much information, was exactly the kind of answer she was going for.
There was a short reporter in the back with their hand raised, so Pandora chose them. “Are you Asgardian? Like Thor?”
She shook her head. “I am of a sister race to them, but we are similar in many ways.”
“Do you have any family?” Another person asked.
Pandora inwardly cringed a little at the question. “Not on Earth, no. But I do have family back on my home realm.”
After that, the questions breezed by. She had prepared for the exact questions that the press asked, and for the most part, she didn’t need to think twice before responding. That was, until she got to what would be the last question of the day.
“What size dress are you?”
She froze, caught off guard. Why would anyone want to know? Luckily, Tony took that as his cue to return to the stage. “Alright, everyone, thank you so much for coming tonight, but unfortunately we are out of time for our little Q&A! We hope everyone had a great time.”
He ushered her off the stage and away from the press. She followed him over to an area that was mostly people she was familiar with, as the rest of the crowd began to file out.
Natasha, who was behind the bar, eyed Pandora. “You look like you need a drink. Got any preferences?”
Pandora shook her head. “Surprise me.” She replied, and Natasha sent her a wink.
“Careful, I wouldn’t let her do that if I were you.” Bruce said. “Last time I told her to ‘surprise me,’ she gave me straight up vodka.”
Natasha smirked. “It’s not my fault you can’t handle a little vodka, Banner.”
She handed Pandora a drink, who then took a sip. “Nope, not straight vodka.” She took another sip. “Madras?”
Natasha nodded. “You know your alcohol.”
“Yeah. I was actually a bartender once.” Pandora said, causing several head turns.
Tony cocked an eyebrow. “Bartender, wow! I didn’t see that on your resume.”
Pandora rolled her eyes. “I didn’t even give you a resume, Tony.”
She went and sat on an empty couch, relaxing her head back. She felt the seat beside her dip down, but she neglected to open her eyes at the moment.
She felt someone lean a bit closer to her ear. “You did good tonight, darling. The press is taxing to put up with, unfortunately it is a necessary evil in this world.” Loki said.
She sighed. “You don’t say.” At this point in the night, her bun felt too restraining, so she unpinned her hair and let it fall around her face.
“The press always asks dumb questions. Especially to us girls.” Wanda said with a frown. “I guess that’s the sort of thing that sells.”
Natasha shrugged and took a swig of her drink. “Money makes people do stupid things. You won’t believe the amount of people in this world who don’t have any common sense.”
Pandora laughed. “Believe me, I’ve met quite a few in my travels. Working customer service was a nightmare that I will never do again.”
Clint, who had just started listening, raised an eyebrow. “You worked in customer service?”
She nodded. “Unfortunately. Those are the types of jobs that are easiest to secure. For quite a good reason, too. It’s atrocious.”
“I had a job in retail once.” Tony said, causing everyone to look at him in disbelief. “What? It’s true. My mother told me that I needed to start being productive with my life, so I was like ‘how hard can it be?’ I got a job at some random store down the street.”
Steve laughed. “And how long did that last for?”
Tony shrugged and scratched his head. “A little less than two days.”
Everyone laughed and Tony went on trying to defend himself. “But listen, I had a terrible first day. There was this old lady who came straight up to me and started yelling in my face, and she spit on me! I mean, what was I supposed to do?!”
Pandora contributed to the conversation here and there, but she found herself slowly not paying attention. Once her eyes began to close on their own accord, she decided it was time to head back to her room. “Well guys, I think it’s time for me to call it a night.”
Tony pouted at that. “But you’re not even drunk yet!”
She laughed. “I’m not looking to be here all night, Tony. Besides, that’s not my definition of fun anyways.”
So he gave up and said goodnight, prompting the others to do the same.
“Would you like me to walk you back to your room?” Loki asked from his spot on the couch. He had been engrossed in a conversation with Wanda, and he seemed to be comfortable. He didn’t seem to be that way around the team that often, so Pandora quickly shook her head.
“That’s quite alright, thanks though.” She said, and then slipped out of the room and headed towards her apartment.

Just Forget the World
Ch: 14
Tumblr media
Natasha has enjoyed a decent enough view from the roof of her apartment in Little Ukraine for the past year. It's a pleasant enough spot to catch a breeze and admire the bustling sounds of her busy block.
The Avengers come and go, called together here and there for various assignments. And the last time she saw the Hulk was months ago, amidst the third ‘Lullaby’ attempt.
They were mid-debriefing when Banner ended it abruptly after receiving a phone call from Jennifer Walters- a woman who will always take priority.
Natasha respects the fact that family matters to Banner. Or, at least, his cousin does.
Looking out over the city, Natasha takes a bite of her stale burrito. Her head rests against the brick of the wall as she spares a thought for her partner in crime.
Yelena Belova invades her waking dreams more often than Natasha would like, curious over whatever could've happened to the sweet innocent blonde who loved her macaroni and cheese.
Natasha nearly chokes on her swallow, suddenly nauseated for giving Dreykov even a spiraling thought.
A dark cat with one eye distracts her, brushing up against her leg.
Natasha spats a Russian swear and shifts her dinner into one hand to cup the cat’s chin.
“I’m not feeding you anymore.”
“Delivery.”
Her head whips in immediate suspicion over the voice at the door. Her guard is up, strolling through the studio apartment toward the door.
Unless her mind is playing tricks on her, Natasha is confident she knows that voice.
The spy maintains surprise as the door opens to reveal Banner in a pizza cap, red t-shirt, and black hoodie, holding a box in her direction.
She blinks, unsure of how to respond;
“I thought I told you to call first so I could disengage the trip wire.”
“Yeah, well,’ Bruce exhales, ‘I was in the area and thought I'd take my chances.”
Natasha huffs with her eyes, ready to roll, “What's in the box?”
He checks it as if he's already forgotten, “A lot of carbs. I was in the area and thought I’d—Tony called and asked me to make a delivery.”
“To me?”
“No, this is an extra. The rest were to make amends for some wrongdoing years ago with some model on the opposite side of the city,’ Bruce fumbles with the box and bites his cheek, ‘He’s, going above and beyond after…”
She understands the unspoken reference to rogue suits; it's entered every tabloid.
Questioning Stark’s well-being feels like a moot point now that his best friend stands in front of her with some borderline joke in his hands. Things couldn't be that bad for the billionaire if he's already scheduling apology pizzas to old flings in New York City.
Natasha tilts her head to invite Bruce inside. Closing the door behind him, she takes the box a few feet away into the makeshift kitchen;
“I’m not sure how I feel about you roaming New York at night to visit strange women. Are you keeping the tower in one piece while Tony’s away? Or are you throwing some wild parties on Avenger dollars?”
“J.A.R.V.I.S has been enough company.”
Natasha playful tilts her head, snatching a pepperoni from inside the pizza box, “Just J.A.R.V.I.S?”
“Well,’ he wrings his hands, ‘Steve came by for an eight-hour Star Wars marathon, and we’ve only gotten through the first three.”
She pauses.
“That sounded way less dorky in my head,” Bruce says as he adjusts his cap.
Natasha takes another bite, “Tony could’ve called the pizza place himself. He wouldn’t have had to pay for your train and cab rides.”
Bruce lifts his shoulders with a lie. She knows he hates being out in public despite his blush and awkward tone when he mumbles;
“I don’t mind.”
She locates her two small plates from a creaky cabinet, “I would’ve picked up around here if I knew you were coming.”
“I’m not the only one crashing.”
Natasha checks over her shoulder and then down the direction he points. She spots the black stray cat yawning at the window…

Part Fifteen - The Party
[slow burn romance between Steve Rogers and SHIELD agent Emma Baker]
Warnings: 18+, contains humor, fluff, mental health, family trauma, romance, angst, language, violence, (potentially smut later on).
installment list
Word count: 5.4k
Emma attends the Stark Industries party. The past gets dredged up by Ultron and Emma has to deal with the harsh reality that her past is no longer a secret.
Tumblr media
Saturday afternoon comes and Emma heads over to Maria's place to get ready and then go to dinner before the party at Avengers Tower. Emma knocks on the door with her foot, struggling with the many bags she is balancing in her arms. "I'm coming!" Maria calls from inside.
The door opens to reveal Maria with curlers in her hair. "Hey that's cheating," Emma teases as she makes her way into the apartment.
"Oh I'm sorry my hair doesn't have the beautiful waves yours does naturally, I have to work for mine. I'd say you're the cheater here." They both stare at each other seriously for a second before bursting into laughter, not able to be serious with each other for long.
"Fair enough I guess," Emma replies while putting her things down. She hangs her garment bag on a door while moving her makeup bag to the bathroom, calling back to Maria, "Are you excited for tonight?"
"It should be interesting, to say the least. Stark has a rep with parties as you know."
"Let's hope for a good night with no mishaps," Emma says as she comes back into the living area. "This'll be my first Stark party, I hope I won't be overdressed...or underdressed, or over-anything. I just want this to be perfect."
"Overdressed huh? Let's see it," Maria tells her, sitting on the arm of her couch for the dress reveal.
Emma unzips the bag and reveals a blush pink long-sleeved dress that sparkles in the apartment lighting. It was a bit tighter, but Emma was told it looked great on her at the store. "Too much? The slit may be a bit much, but the stylist at the store insisted I get it."
"Wow," Maria says and then smirks while asking, "are you trying to impress a certain someone?"
"What? No," Emma replies quickly and defensively, her voice going slightly up in pitch. "It was just really cute and I thought as a first-time guest at a famous Stark party I should dress the part."
"Uh-huh," Maria says and crosses her arms, "and it's not about anyone whose name rhymes with Shmaptain Shmerica?"
Emma instantly gets flustered and dodges the question, instead asking, "So where are we going to dinner later?"
"I'm for real!" Maria tells her while laughing. "I was the Deputy Director of an intelligence organization Emma, I know how to read people. Plus little miss obvious asked me that one time if an agent had feelings for another what the protocol was. You think I didn't know right then and there?"
Emma can't help the embarrassed smile that creeps onto her face as she rolls her eyes and asks, "Is it that obvious?"
"To me, yes," Maria says with a laugh, "but like I said I know how to read people and you're one of my closest friends. I will say it was very professional of you not to do anything about it when you were working together at SHIELD."
Now it was Emma's turn to laugh, saying, "You act like SHIELD was the reason I never said anything. I haven't said anything because I don't want to risk our friendship. Plus with how involved with the team I am, I wouldn't want things to be all weird. I feel like Tony and Romanoff would go wild with jokes about us."
Even though Emma would hate the awkwardness of the latter situation, she can't help but have a smile on her face at the thought. She would totally endure some embarrassment if it meant being with Steve. Maria takes in the smile on her friend's face and says, "See, look at that smile, you need to make a move. Tonight. Or I'll do it for you."
"I think the hell not," Emma tells her while laughing. "If this happens it's on my terms, Hill."
"Okay, fine, fine. But I'm just saying there are going to be lots of ladies at this party and Steve is not an unattractive man." In retaliation for the comment, Emma throws a small pillow in Maria's direction which she dodges easily.
Emma then sighs and says airily, "A girl can dream she has a chance with him."
"You never know until you try, now let's get this show on the road."
With this, the two begin getting ready, Emma hooking up her phone to the speaker in the living room and playing 90s and early 2000s throwback pop. The pair are swept back into their teen years as they dance around the apartment while getting ready. After Emma pins her hair up into a braided crown and does her makeup, she does a spin for Maria, asking, "How do I look?"
"Like you could get any guy you want, including Captain America himself. You've got me feeling underdressed, Baker."
Emma smiles, a high of confidence running through her veins because of her incredible mood and the way she feels in the dress. "Oh don't kid yourself, you look amazing, Maria."
"Why thank you," Maria replies with a smile while grabbing her jacket and purse. At the same time, Emma takes an item out of her purse and inserts it into a secret pocket she had put into the dress. "What do you have there?" Maria asks as they make their way out.
"Oh, it's just that new tech Tony is programming for me. I told him that I would get it back to him tonight."
Maria nods, asking, "Is that what he needed those files for the other day?"
"Yeah, he's planning on finishing the coding then I should be good to go more or less into battle soon."
"Sweet, I've always wanted to see you in action after Fury told me what you did in the SUV that day."
"I can credit you for that. Those days at the shooting range have helped out a lot."
"It's a good skill to be burdened with," Maria replies as she locks the door behind them. Before they head to the tower, the pair head off to a chic place for dinner, bumping their favorite songs on full blast all the way there.
Tumblr media
Later after dinner, Maria and Emma arrive at the party, getting escorted in by a couple of Stark Industries workers. After thanking the two for their service, the pair start their walk into the party. Maria takes off to mingle and Emma is about to head off to find Tony to give him the chip when she hears from behind her, "Emma Baker! Man, you're looking good!" It was Sam coming up behind her with a big smile on his face.
Emma laughs as she turns around to face him, greeting him with, "Hey Sam!"
"Did you ever get the chance to talk with Steve?" Sam asks.
Emma shakes her head, replying, "Not yet, no, but I feel like tonight isn't the best time."
"Well speaking of Cap, here he comes," Sam says, nodding his head toward Steve who was approaching the pair. "Isn't Emma looking great tonight, Steve?" he asks as Steve makes their company.
Steve takes in Emma's outfit and his heart skips a beat, getting lost in how beautiful she looks. He realizes probably didn't say anything for a bit too long when Sam subtly elbows him in the ribs. Steve snaps back to reality and smiles at Emma, telling her, "Looking great as always."
Emma smiles ear to ear and is very thankful she has makeup on to hide her blush. She gathers her words and replies, "Why thank you, Steve." Feeling confident, she then adds, "You look quite dashing yourself."
The two smile and hold eye contact for a second before Sam says, "You know, I caught word that they're about to start a pool tournament, y'all in?"
"I'm in," Steve says with a nod, finally breaking his eyes away from Emma's, "What about you, Em?"
"Absolutely! Prepare to be crushed," she tells him.
"Oh those are fighting words, Baker," Steve tells her with a laugh.
"You do realize he's Captain America right?" Sam interjects as they walk to the pool tables. "You know, great coordination and marksmanship skills, the whole shebang?"
"Yes I do realize that, but I'm my grandfather's kin, I like my odds," Emma replies.
The three go to the multiple tables Tony had lined up and begin playing, each beating their first opponents. Then the second round comes, knocking Sam out. While the games go on and gain a bit of a crowd, Sam starts making bets with people.
Soon enough, the final two in the last game are Emma and Steve. They shake each other's hands before the game begins. "You're going down, Rogers," Emma tells him with a wink. The gesture is small, but it's enough to knock Steve off his game for the first few shots. Had Emma been flirting with him or simply trying to win?
A few shots before the game ends, Thor comes up and claps Steve on the back as he studies the table. He gives him some words of encouragement before stepping back to watch. Even after the words from Thor, Steve takes his shot and misses, leaving the turn to Emma.
Emma studies the table and position of her targets before lining up her shot. She too misses and accidentally lands the ball right where Steve can take a perfect shot to win. As Steve looks at the table with a hint of a victorious smile on his lips already, the thought crosses Emma's mind to try and distract him, but decides to be a good sport and lets him take the winning shots. "Good game," Emma tells him with a smile.
"It was, you held your own quite well," Steve replies with a smirk.
"Oh, so that's how it is?" Emma asks with a laugh.
"That's how it is," Steve replies with a chuckle. Sam rejoins the two along with Thor who sweeps the men away with him to try some of his ale from back home, leaving Emma on her own.
After they leave, Emma walks around the party for a few minutes mingling with people she recognizes, catching the tail-end of a story Rhodes was telling. "Boom! You looking for this?" he asks as he finishes his story with a nod at the small crowd's laughter.
After a few more minutes of not being able to find Tony, Emma settles onto a barstool at the far end of the bar Romanoff is tending to. "What can I get for you, Baker?" she asks while grabbing a glass for herself.
Emma shrugs as she says, "Feel free to surprise me."
Romanoff nods, making Emma a drink and putting it down in front of her before asking, "No date tonight?"
Emma shakes her head while taking a sip. "Dates haven't seemed to be a problem I have to worry about lately. Just have to worry about me, myself, and I."
"Oh come on, there's got to be someone," she says.
Shrugging her shoulders, Emma changes the direction of the conversation, asking, "What about you?"
A smile makes its way onto her lips before she looks over her shoulder at the latest person to walk up to the bar: Bruce. "I guess we're about to find out, aren't we?" she asks as she makes her way over to where he is.
Emma watches Romanoff effortlessly flirt with Bruce and she wishes she had that kind of courage with Steve when she wasn't in a fancy dress and hyped up on adrenaline combined with the slightest bit of alcohol. On the other hand though, she still didn't want to ruin what they currently had in their friendship... She sighs and looks back to her drink, not noticing Steve come up to the bar and start chatting with Bruce because Romanoff comes back to talk with her for a bit.
"It's nice - you and Romanoff," Steve tells Bruce with a smile. "She isn't a very open person, and with you, she's relaxed."
"No, Natasha... Natasha just likes to flirt," Bruce replies, shrugging the comment off.
"I've seen her flirting up close, that wasn't it," Steve tells him. "Look, as maybe the world's leading authority on waiting too long, don't. You both deserve a win." As Steve tells Bruce this, his eyes drift to Emma at the other end of the bar.
Bruce follows Steve's gaze and comments, "Maybe you should listen to your own advice, Cap."
Steve smiles a bit and claps Bruce on the shoulder before heading off in the opposite direction. He wants to say something to Emma that night, he does, but even his courage only goes so far. Emma just looks so beautiful and her charisma is out in full force and this seems to be proving to be a deadly combination that is knocking Steve off his game every time he starts to say something to her. He likes seeing this confident side of Emma, but wow did it make him weak. He wipes the grin off his face as he meets up with Sam again for some mingling. If Sam knew what the smile was for he would never hear the end of it.
Tumblr media
A little while later, almost all of the guests have gone for the night, so Emma starts to head for the doors to go home. "Woah, woah, woah where do you think you're going?" Maria asks.
"I don't want to mess up the dynamic, you guys have fun, though!" she replies.
"I don't think so, I'm your ride and it's dark out. You aren't leaving," Maria tells her sternly.
From his spot on the couch, Tony pipes in with a wink and a laugh, saying, "Plus, you aren't going out in that dress with no escort."
Emma rolls her eyes and laughs before saying, "As if, Stark."
Tony throws his hands up, telling her, "I'm just saying anyone with eyes can see that you look drop-dead gorgeous, and as my employee, I'm not letting you get hurt leaving a company function."
"Fine, fine, I'll stay," Emma says, giving in with a laugh. As she makes her way over to them she says, "Oh and I have that drive you sent me home with. Do you want it now or before I head out?"
"Before you leave works. You can drop it off in the lab on the way out," he tells her.
"Great," Emma replies with a giddiness in her voice, excited for the new tech.
She makes her way to the couches with the group consisting of the Avengers plus Maria, Helen, and Rhodes sitting around a coffee table that holds Mjolnir. Emma sits on the couch behind Maria who is on the floor, listening to Barton and Thor bicker. "It's a trick!" Barton shouts while spinning a drumstick.
Thor laughs and replies, "Oh no, it's much more than that, Barton." In response, Barton proceeds to mock Odin's proclamation of who would have the ability to wield the hammer. With a sly smile, Thor gestures to it and says, "Please, be my guest."
In response, Barton stands up and shakes his hands out preparing for his attempt. As he does, Tony quips, "It's been a long week, don't be ashamed if you can't get it up." Emma chokes on the champagne she was sipping in response to the comment. Usually, she doesn't laugh at those types of jokes, but with the buzz of alcohol running in her body, she can't help but laugh.
Barton of course can't even make Mjolnir budge, so he invites Tony to try his hand at it. "Okay. I'm never one to shrink from an honest challenge," Tony tells him.
Maria turns her head up to Emma, saying, "He's not gonna be able to do it."
Emma shakes her head, replying, "No way."
They turn their attention back to the scene in front of them where Tony asks, "So if I can move it, I rule Asgard?"
"Yes, of course," Thor replies nonchalantly.
When Tony can't budge it at first, he goes to get part of his suit to assist him, and then adds Rhodes to help. As they watch, Emma leans down and whispers to Maria, “I wish we had popcorn for this show.” Maria laughs as the guys all continue to take turns, Bruce even pretending to Hulk out to try and make it move.
Next up after Bruce is Steve. Emma tries not to give her crush away by eyeing him too much, but it's hard not to at that moment. She averts her eyes to anywhere else in the room but his muscles as he puts forth a solid effort, but even with all that super soldier serum running through his veins, Mjolnir stays in its spot on the table.
The attention turns to the ladies in the room after Steve throws his hands up in surrender. Bruce gestures his hands to Romanoff first who responds with, "Oh that's not a question I need to be answered."
Eyes turn to Helen who shakes her head quickly and then to Maria who just laughs. Maria is the one to ask Emma, "Why don't you give it a try, Em?"
Emma forces a laugh and tells her, "Oh I'm not worthy and you know it." The past events brought up into her mind during the last week cement that statement as fact in Emma's heart. There was no point in embarrassing herself.
"All deference to The Man Who Wouldn't be King, but it's rigged," Tony smarts off after Emma's refusal.
"You bet your ass it is," Barton agrees.
"Steve!" Maria calls with a smirk. "He said a bad language word!"
Steve sighs and turns to Emma and jokingly says, "That tech of yours. Does everyone know about that?"
Emma can't help but get distracted by Steve's smile, and while she’s mesmerized Thor gets up and easily lifts Mjolnir, tossing it in the air. As he does this, he smirks and says, "There is one answer to all of this. You all simply are not worthy."
That comment earns a groan and laughter from everyone but the moment gets interrupted by a high-pitched ringing noise. Emma cringes at the noise and covers her ears while from behind them, there is a mangled voice saying "Worthy? No..."
Everyone turns to look at the mangled robot in confusion. Emma gingerly stands up from her perch on the couch, leaving her heels on the cushion in case she has to run from the potential threat. Her mind instantly begins searching for an escape route, thinking of all the exits nearby and if they could be blocked by the mangled Iron Legion suit.
From behind her, Steve sees Emma tense up as the threat presents itself and he sees her hands start slightly shaking. Boldly, he takes a step toward her and gently laces his fingers with hers to comfort her. The shaking in her hands stops momentarily while Emma holds onto Steve's hand as the robot begins speaking, but her mind doesn't fully process what was happening, her senses all too heightened to worry about it.
In front of them, the robot almost drunkenly stumbles about mumbling, "Worthy? How could you be worthy? You're all killers and criminals. Do you know how many people each of you have killed? How many laws you've broken? How many lives you've uprooted? Or do you even care about that as long as it's good for your endgame?" The robot sweeps what would be its eyes around the room and Steve drops Emma's hand, not wanting him to use her as leverage against him.
The bot looks around at all their faces and starts with, "Mr. - No, Dr. Banner... Hulk really does love to go on the path of most destruction, doesn't he? Not caring who or what he leaves in his wake? And Miss Romanoff...how's that red in your ledger? How much more will you add until you realize it's better to stop while you're ahead? Oh and Mr. Tony Stark... How many people do you think your tech has killed? Because I can guarantee that it's at least double what you think it is.
“And Thor Odinson. God of Thunder. I don't even want to think about how many you've slain off-world. Newsflash people, it's probably a lot more than you would think! I can't forget Mr... or should I say, Captain Rogers. Always in a war. You see, your captain here didn't get into the military in the most legal way if you didn't know. Faking enlistment papers is a federal crime, Captain... Oh and don't let me forget the archer himself, Mr. Barton. Those high-tech arrows do a lot more damage than you'd think, but you can tell that to any bodies that were mangled up in the Battle of New York all those years ago."
"What do you want from us?" Steve asks in a low voice, not wanting to listen to the robot continue the slander on his team.
"Oh, I'm not done yet! You interrupted my monologue!" The robot exclaims. "I'm not going to be done until I've torn into every...single...one of you. Well except Miss Cho, she's the only one really saving lives here. Let's start again with Colonel Rhodes. You have a body count from your military service and not the fun kind. Do you ever think of those men and women who never get to go home to see their families again? And Miss Maria Hill. You may not have killed too many people directly, but all those hoops you had to jump through to become Deputy Director of SHIELD? And all the things you had to do in the line of duty? Criminal. And speaking of criminals...now I can't just let you off the hook can I, Miss Baker?"
Steve can't help but have a look of confusion on his face at the statement. "Oh, you didn't know Captain? Miss Baker here used to hack into police radios, which is totally illegal by the way. Top that off with illegal surveillance and she was at the top of her game. Never got caught, except of course by Fury and Hill. Which is another one of Miss Hill's crimes, what willingly hiring a criminal and wiping her slate clean just so she could work for you? How dare."
Maria slowly stands up and cocks her gun while turning toward the robot, willing to go into a firefight for Emma. After all, it was her responsibility to get everything about Emma's past off the books and clearly, she didn't do well enough...
Emma's heart races out of her chest. She didn't think her past would ever be mentioned so many times in one week. She can't get the look Steve gave her out of her head, he just looked so disappointed in her... Emma can't even pay attention to what’s going on around her, her anxiety getting too high with the thoughts of the past. She doesn't know how long she'll be able to hold on before breaking down but knows she can't with the seemingly all-knowing bot in front of them.
While the robot monologues for a little bit longer and Emma tries to calm herself down, Steve says, "I'm going to ask you again. What do you want?"
"I'm on a mission," the robot replies.
"What mission?" Romanoff asks.
"Peace in our time," he replies. At that moment, as if on cue, two Iron Legion robots bust through the wall and come flying into the area. Maria hits the ground and Steve kicks up a table to block himself and Emma from the oncoming attack. As they fly by, Emma throws her arms over her face to protect her head while she gets knocked to the ground.
In the chaos, everyone scatters, trying to find something to defend themselves with. Emma thinks back to the lab where Tony had started work on her drone and tries to make her way there, avoiding the flying suits around her. Through her tunnel vision though, she doesn't see a suit flying straight at her which topples her over the railing. Emma groans as she sits up, kicking away the suit that she ended up falling on and destroying in the impact. Through the ache, she stands up to try and make it to the lab.
Her feet get stuck with shattered glass, but she powers through, needing to prove to the team and herself that she could do more than just sit on the outskirts of battle and watch. Tony sees where she's heading and shouts, "Baker, it isn't done yet! Find something else to defend yourself with or get to cover!"
"There's a hidden pistol under the piano bench," Romanoff informs her as she and Bruce run up the stairs trying to get away from the action.
Emma spots the piano above her and shouts, "Thor, can I get a lift?"
Thor flies over to Emma and swiftly lifts her up to the piano where she starts searching for the gun. Emma notices Helen Cho hiding behind the piano and tells her, "It'll be okay, I got this." Although the words are directed at Helen, they were also words of encouragement to herself, trying to calm the shaking in her hands as she checks to make sure the gun is loaded.
As Emma's shaking hands finally ensure the gun is loaded, she hears the sound of one of the Iron Legion suits charging up its hand to blast the pair of them. Emma secures the gun in one hand and puts the other arm up in front of Helen, feebly attempting to block her from any damage the suit could do.
Knowing she wouldn't be able to take the thing on with the pistol alone, Emma slowly moves her body in front of Helen's and looks up at the suit, ready to take what it was about to dish out when Steve comes up behind the bot and throws it towards Thor who smashes it into bits. After that, Steve's shield gets thrown at him and he takes out the second to last Legion suit.
"Well that was dramatic," the main robot in charge says. Ultron, that's what Emma thinks she heard it call itself while she was trying to calm herself down earlier. "I'm sorry, I know you mean well, you just didn't think it through. You want to protect the world but you don't want it to change. How can humanity be saved if it's not allowed to evolve? There's only one path to peace. The Avengers extinction." At that, Thor has had enough and throws Mjolnir at the mangled suit, destroying it.
The team gathers themselves and makes their way to the lab following Bruce and Tony. Emma flinches at the pain in her feet, the adrenaline finally wearing off so she feels the full effects of the glass in them now. Helen reaches out her hand to help Emma walk easier and tells her, "Go take a seat. I'll get my mobile lab and start healing your feet. Thank you, by the way."
Emma nods and says quietly, "It's not like my career isn't ruined after that fiasco with that thing anyways. What would it have hurt getting blasted to bits?" She pauses for a second before adding on with a cringe, "Sorry, that was dark."
"Hey, it's okay. Just get to the lab and I'll help you out."
Emma nods and limps to the lab, staying on the outskirts of the room and sitting down on a bench near the door, relieved to be off her feet. As Emma waits for Helen to get back, she punches herself mentally, wishing that damn AI didn't know about her past. She had never told Steve about it, why would she? It was a time she just wanted to forget...
From across the room, Bruce assesses the damage left behind by the bot and announces, "All our work is gone... Ultron cleared out. He used the internet to escape."
As she searches the lab, Romanoff speaks up, telling the group, "He's been in everything. Files, surveillance." She pauses and throws a glance Emma's way, a hint of curiosity in her eyes, and says "He obviously knows more about us than we do each other..."
Emma turns her eyes down as Steve and Rhodes look toward her which makes her feel sick to her stomach. While looking at her, Rhodes asks, "Are we not gonna talk about the elephant in the room, Tony?"
"No, we're not going to talk about the elephant in the room because there is no elephant to talk about. I knew about her past and I chose to tell Pepper about her skills and get her on board. Because that's what Baker has. Skills. End of discussion. Now the elephant we need to be talking about is the fact that Ultron has read everything we have. Every file, every lead, everything."
Rhodes reluctantly drops the subject, tearing his eyes away from Emma and saying, "Well if he read everything and is using the internet to travel, what if he decides to access something a bit more...exciting?"
As the group continues their discussion, Helen emerges into the lab and begins picking the glass out of Emma's feet. Emma grips the sides on the bench in pain and she leans her head back, only half-listening to the conversation at hand.
The next time Emma's ears tune into the conversation, Romanoff is asking, "Nukes? I thought he wanted us dead?"
"He didn't say dead," Steve pipes in, "he said extinct."
"He also said he killed somebody," Barton reminds them all.
"There wasn't anyone besides us in the building," Maria tells him.
"Yes, there was," Tony says, signaling up JARVIS who looks like he got completely destroyed by Ultron.
The group examines the mangled AI in disbelief as Emma is suddenly jerked away from the conversation by a sharp pain in her foot. Helen had pulled out a rather large piece of glass that made Emma's foot start bleeding. "Sorry," she whispers before putting pressure on the wound for a few moments.
"It's fine," Emma breathes, closing her eyes, wanting to be anywhere except there. She regrets not going home now... Emma focuses on the pain in her feet because at least that pain she knew would be temporary. Focusing on the pain keeps her mind away from the nagging feeling that her friendship with Steve and what could have come from it was out the door, never going to happen.
Even through that concentration though, Emma's mind is ripped away yet again to Thor storming into the lab and holding Tony up by his neck. "Use your words, buddy!" Tony manages to choke out.
"I have more than enough words to describe you, Stark."
"Thor," Steve warns and he drops Tony.
Thor looks to everyone and announces, "The trail went cold about 100 miles out. He has the scepter."
Helen sets up her tech to begin repairing Emma's feet and stands to be with the rest of the group. Finally joining the conversation, she says, "I don't understand. You built this program. Why is it trying to kill us?" In response, Tony just starts laughing.
"What, so this is funny to you?" Thor asks. Tony of course responds with sarcasm to which Thor tells him, "This could have all been avoided if you didn't play with things you don't understand."
"No, this is so funny. It's a hoot that you don't get why we need this."
"God, not again," Emma whispers to herself, not wanting to listen to more bickering between the team. She tries to focus on her breathing or the pain her feet are in rather than listen to them, but her mind has other ideas. It yet again wanders back to when she was a little girl, listening to her parents fighting outside her bedroom door. To get herself back from that thought, Emma kicks herself and reminds her brain of her physical pain which brings her back to the present.
When she tunes back into the conversation at hand, she hears Tony say, "We're the Avengers. We can bust arms dealers all the livelong day, but up there..." he points upwards, to space, "that's the endgame. How are you guys planning on beating that?"
"Together," Steve replies.
Tony gives him a look and replies, "We'll lose."
"Then we'll do that together too. Ultron is calling us out and I'd like to find him before he's ready for us. The world's a big place, let's start making it smaller."
a/n there’s a LOT of music that goes with this chapter that covers a LOT of emotions! enjoy!

Lost Mine & Abyss Session 9.5 - Thundertree
-In the past of the orc village of Thundertree, many years before the days of our current party, a wizard and his young apprentice perform a summoning ritual- one that goes horribly wrong. The young boy is sent to run to the nearby city of Neverwinter to get help, as an abyssal portal tears open in Thundertree's tower.
-Five 15th-level adventurers answer the emergency call: Valrus the Tiefling Sorcerer, Vremjol the Luxodon Cleric, Ylsirri the Wood Elf Druid, Duncan the Dwarf Cleric, and Alkoth the Crystal Dragonborn Paladin.
-The party makes their way up the hill, beholding the smoke-covered scene of Thundertree's destruction. The orc apprentice, a young Zoream, trails behind them, begging them for help. The party convinces him to hide behind a tree until its all over, the druid handing him a Goodberry.
-As they step into the burning village ready for an awful day of work, the party is greeted by a swarm of useless but very determined Quasits scrabbling at their armor. The party takes them out easily.
-One of the remaining Quasits gives a pitiful roar in defiance- followed by three much louder shrieks. Seeing the combat taking place, three of the vulture-like Vrock demons swoop in close behind. Each sets off a Stunning Screech, a powerful energy passing through the party- failing to take hold on all but the druid, as she falls to her knees paralyzed.
-Valrus calls out to the creatures in abyssal, demanding to know which lord they serve. They respond only that their lord is stronger than any of them- that once they finish with this place, they will move on to the many souls of the nearby city. They laugh as they circle over the party.
-Valrus pelts one of them down to the ground with rocks, the creature landing on a roof next to Ylsirri- happily turning to its new defenseless target. The two remaining quasits also pick on the druid, along with the third Vrock.
-One of the Vrocks lands in front of the rest of the party, viciously attacking with its beak and claws- and getting destroyed by the surrounding party in return.
-Ylsirri frees herself from the Vrock's paralysis, rising to face her attackers as the party rushes to her aid. Duncan summons his Spirit Guardians, golden hawks diving at the surrounding demons. Ylsirri critically smacks the attacking Vrock with a thorn whip. Vremjol summons a Spiritual Weapon. Alkoth finishes crushing the Quasits. Valrus insults the Vrocks from the back.
-Damaged and angry, scales cover Ylsirri as the druid Wild Shapes into a Brontosaurus, its gargantuan form crushing the nearby building and pushing everyone out onto the path. The surviving vrock freezes and stares upwards in shock, releasing poisonous spores- again failing to take hold on anyone. It's death quickly comes for it by Duncan's blade.
-At their defeat, young Zoream bounds after the party, congratulating them on their skill through coughs of smoke and admiring the dinosaur. The dinosaur pushes Zoream with her tail into one of the nearby ruined buildings as the party tells him he needs to stay and hide until they are done. Zoream turns around in the building beholding the corpse of his uncle as the party continues on through the village.
-The smoke thickens the deeper into the village they walk, as they pass through a path of statues. Eyes begin to appear in the smoke, as the haze starts to coalesce into shape- as something very large stalks behind them. Roll initiative!
-Seven Shadow Demons manifest from the smoke to attack the party- and proceed to have a very bad time at the hands of the Paladin's Holy Avenger, the crystal dragonborn sweeping through the shadows with his radiant sword. The Brontosaurus continues its rampage, stomping some of the shadowy creatures out of existence. Duncan, continuing to not get hit by anything, dances his way through the Shadow Demons' attacks.
-Leaping through the smoke from the top of one of the buildings, the apelike Barlgura lands at the base of the Brontosaurus's neck, punching at it with its massive fists and biting it in the throat with its tusks.
-Valrus gathers a spell and summons the strength of the wind to tear the Barlgura from the Brontosaurus, the demon taking a long fall to the ground, growling at the party now in its sight.
-Vremjol casts spells of radiant fire at the creature, burning it in light. Duncan continues dancing through the remaining Shadow Demons while the guardian hawks begin to finish them off. Alkoth, seeing a worthy challenge, charges at the Barlgura, bisecting it with his Holy Avenger. Ylsirri swipes the rest of the Shadow Demons out of existence with her massive tail.
-The Shadow Demons gone, the smoke somewhat thins, revealing the tower ahead above the haze. A winged gargoyle-like demon roars from its perch on the top of the tower, its wingbeats clearing the smoke in a path towards the party, destruction and corpses visible as the cover pulls away. The creature crawls lizard-like down its side to set its life-stealing gaze upon the intruders. The party resists the creature's pull, except for Alkoth- and the young Zoream, peeking out from his shelter at the scene of Thundertree's destruction revealed.
-The Nabassu breathes in their life force, Alkoth standing stoically against it, while the young Zoream is drained of nearly everything within him. The creature flexes its wings in renewed strength, pushing another energy through Thundertree- as the dead rise to meet it.
-The dead of Zoream's shelter raise behind him with arms outstretched towards him- but the young orc is focused on a separate ghoul, running across the battlefield towards what remains of his mother before being yanked back by Valrus.
-Valrus casts Animate Object upon one of the village's orc warrior statues, sending it forth to attack the undead with its enormous stone sword alongside the Brontosaurus's cratering stomps.
-Duncan, lit by the glow of his Spirit Guardians, holds up his holy talisman to the tower, attempting a Banishment upon the Nabassu. The demon shakes off its affects, turning its fury towards the dwarf.
-Vremjol runs up the tail of the Brontosaurus, holding out his symbol as well for another holy Banishment. The Nabassu raises from the tower and howls against him- and then goes silent, dust sweeping through the path as the demon vanishes from this realm. The party takes out the last of the ghouls, while Vremjol carefully maintains concentration on the Banishment spell safe upon the back of the Brontosaurus.
-The village is still and silent once more. The fires still burn and the smoke hangs over the air, but aside from the party, the village appears to be empty of life- but then the ground begins to tremble, and an energy begins to radiate from the tower, the air humming with abyssal power as pebbles start to break off from the tower. The party steps back from the tower cautiously as the portal is still very much alive.
-"Fuck it, we ball, lets go," says the paladin, charging into the tower and up the stairs to crush some demons in the name of holy Bahamut. The strongest abyssal energy he has ever felt washes over the scales of the crystal dragonborn as he climbs the crumbling stairs. Valrus leaves the young Zoream on Duncan's ram steed and follows in after, Duncan trailing from a distance behind. Vremjol on the back of the Brontosaurus remains behind, still holding their concentration.
-At the top of the tower in the wizard's study, pages of the fateful spellbook swirl around the portal still spasming with energy as something tries to come through. Alkoth unleashes his radiant breath upon it, its energy overtaking and weakening the portal as it slowly begins to close.
-Before they can claim their victory, the portal is suddenly ripped open as an even stronger opposite energy flows through it, pushing Alkoth and Valrus to the wall. Stepping out from the now-huge portal is the monstrous Balor, lashing its fiery whip through the study and tearing the portal wide with its sword of lightning. It spreads its wings and roars, its fiery aura catching the spellbook's pages ablaze in the air.
-Valrus, faced with the strongest creature he has ever seen, grabs Alkoth and launches the two of them out the window, hovering in the air as he yells a warning to the others to stay away. Duncan climbs back down the stairs.
-Alkoth, prepared for the duel of his life, commands Valrus to send him back. The sorcerer launches the dragonborn back through the window, landing in front of the fiend with the Holy Avenger drawn.
-The Balor roars, unleashing its weapons upon the paladin, his fiery whip and lightning sword lashing through his armor while its fiery aura begins to melt at the edges of the dragonborn's scales.
-Vremjol's concentration complete, Ylsirri drops back out of Wild Shape and into her Wood Elf form, dropping the Luxodon Cleric safely on the ground. The druid downs her healing potion and launches a spell of Sunburst into the tower's window, yelling an apology to Alkoth as its radiant fire washes over the two combatants.
-Alkoth, casting a determined glare upon the Balor through the aura of fire, pulls out his platinum scale pendant to Bahamut and calls the words to a spell of Banishment. The Balor strains against the spell- and then is no more, the fiery aura washing away. Alkoth stands still and silent, holding out his holy symbol as he maintains the spell.
-Silence continues. A few seconds pass. Then a minute. The portal grows smaller and smaller in front of the paladin, until finally, it seals shut. The swirling pages fall to the ground in a pile of ash, as the air is finally still. The paladin takes a breath, as it is finally over.
-The party reconvenes in the silent village. The fires still burn, but they have begun to subside, the smoke beginning to clear. Alkoth approaches the child Zoream, taking off his helmet, and pressing his platinum scale amulet into the young orc's hands, sending a prayer to Bahamut for his protection. Valrus gifts the young apprentice a spellbook. And from above, as the sun's light finally returns to the ruined land, a voice sounds through the party's mind.
-A being of light manifests before the party. Dema, the protector spirit of Thundertree, thanks the party for defending its last survivor and blesses their journeys. To Zoream, she offers a set of paints to the young orc, who begins to paint over the spellbook's first pages a child's rendition of the days events.
-The presence retreats, as the tree of the town's namesake, wrapped and withered around the tower, starts to heal with a soft glow.
-Duncan suggests the party go for drinks, and there, this demon-slaying oneshot ends!
