“And then she told me to get a hobby and stormed out of the house,” Killian said, sinking back into the plush sofa.
From across the office, Dr. Hopper leaned forward, placing his elbows on his knees.  “And how do you feel about…well…all of that?”
Today marked the five year anniversary of the Final Battle.  They’d had five years of peace.  Five years of prosperity.  Five years of domestic tranquility, where the worst crisis any of them faced was Grumpy’s wrath when Granny ran out of bacon.
It had been wonderful…and surprisingly far more emotional than Killian would have supposed Happily Ever After could be.
As it happened, when there was no longer a crisis to be faced every other day, one had the time and opportunity to deal with the stress and trauma that years of constant crisis had accumulated–and given his two centuries of painful existence, he’d had plenty accumulated.
Swan had made the suggestion that they start seeing Dr. Hopper to deal with it all, and so he’d agreed.  The former cricket had, after all, been an invaluable listening ear back when Killian was considering proposing to Emma.  The two of them had, accordingly, been to Hopper many times, sometimes alone, sometimes together, and though the psychiatrist had earned his degree from the curse, he seemed to have a genuine heart for his patients.  More than once, Killian had left his office feeling far lighter than when he’d entered.
The newest crisis, and the reason Killian was currently sitting on Dr. Hopper’s sofa was not, strictly speaking, a crisis at all.  It was a very, very good thing.  As soon as the dust had settled from the Final Battle, Killian had whisked Emma away on an idyllic and well earned honeymoon.  One night, as they lay snuggled together, they’d discussed the future.
One thing stood out to both of them: they wanted to give Henry a little brother or sister.  And so they’d tried.  For nearly five years they’d tried with no success, and as each month passed with no little one coming to them, they gradually began to lose hope.
That is until that morning a month ago.
Swan had come to him with one of the small wands that Killian had come to learn was a pregnancy test in her hand and joyful tears in her eyes.  It had finally happened.  Swan was with child.
They were overjoyed, of course, but Killian was also terrified.  After all, he’d lived in a time when childbirth was not only intensely painful, but also quite dangerous.  He couldn’t lose Swan again.  He couldn’t.
She’d been patient with him, assuring him that medical technology in the Land Without Magic took away a lot of that risk–and could also take away a lot of the pain.  She assured him that she was fine.
And yet his worry persisted.  He’d fretted and fussed over her, hardly letting her do anything on her own.
This morning her patience had run out, and she’d snapped–thus her comment about a hobby.
“How do you think it makes me feel?” Killian asked with a roll of his eyes and a cross of his arms.  “I’m powerless to stop…whatever dangers my wife and unborn child face.”
Hopper was silent for a moment, sitting back up and steepling his fingers under his chin.  Finally he spoke.  “It’s natural for you to fear for Emma and be extra protective of her at this time given the history of crises the two of you have faced,” he said, “but is that all it is?  You’ve yet to tell me how you feel about your impending fatherhood.”
“I’m overjoyed, of course,” Killian said quickly, and perhaps a bit more forcefully than he’d intended.
“But–” Hopper prompted.
Killian blew out a long breath.  “But I’m also bloody terrified.  What do I know of being a father?  I hardly had a stellar example of my own from which to learn.  What if I’m incapable of providing the little lad or lass what is needed?  What if I am incapable of protecting my child?”
“You love your child already,” Hopper stated.
“Aye, more than anything, save Swan herself,” Killian replied with a quick nod.
“And that is the most important thing,” Dr. Hopper said.  “Killian, you’ll make mistakes as a father. All parents do, but as long as you love your child and do your best to do right by them, it will all turn out in the end.”
Killian sat back, sighing again.  “That’s all well and good, but how precisely do I make the fear recede?”
Dr. Hopper was silent for another long moment.  “Maybe, Emma has a point.  I know she spoke in frustration, given what she sees as your overprotective instinct, but maybe it would be helpful to find a hobby.”
“I hardly think taking up woodworking or the like is going to allay my fears about fatherhood,” Killian scoffed.
“Maybe not,” Hopper said, “but one of the best ways to deal with anxiety is to busy yourself with something that might help the one you’re worried about.  Look for a hobby you can use to help provide for Emma or your new child.”

Killian had initially been skeptical about the cricket’s suggestion, but the more he thought about it, the more sense it truly made.  What was something he could do to keep his mind and his hand occupied, something that would provide help and comfort to his little family?
It was one bright, sunny Saturday morning when he and Swan were sitting in the room that would become their nursery, that inspiration struck.
Opening a box she’d had him bring down from the attic, Emma had pulled out her delicate white and purple baby afghan, lovingly knitted for her by Granny herself.
“It’s the only thing I had from my parents growing up, Killian,” she’d said, running a hand lovingly over the soft fabric, “and it got me through, you know?  It reminded me that no matter what I was going through, at one point someone did give enough of a damn about me to knit me a blanket.”
Perhaps that was the answer. Perhaps he could create a similar blanket for their own little cygnet.
The next Monday, after Emma had left for work, he’d wandered over to Granny’s after the breakfast rush and inquired of her whether she’d be willing to teach him to knit.
Granny peered at him over her glasses.  “I’m not sure that’s such a good idea,” she’d said bluntly.
His hackles had risen.  “Whyever not?”
“Now don’t get your leathers in a twist,” she’d said, pulling off her apron and leading him back to the sitting room of the bed and breakfast.  “I meant no offense.  It’s just–”
“It’s just what?”
She eyed his hook.  “It’s just–I’m not sure it’s possible to knit with only one hand.”
His heart had sunk, and she’d clearly noticed.
“Hang on a second,” she said, getting up and moving to a small box in the corner of the room and rummaging around.  “Knitting may not be possible, but something else might.” She came back to him holding a ball of yarn and a small, thin hook.  “Killian, how would you like to learn to crochet?”

–I’m back!  Did you miss me?
–This story came about through personal experience.  Two things some of you may not know about me: 1. Aside from OUAT/writing, my biggest hobby is crocheting (knitting too, to a lesser extent, but crochet is my medium of choice).  It’s rare to find me without a crochet project in my hands during my downtime. 2. I minored in French in college.  Though I haven’t used it much since then, I’ve started reviewing and trying to learn more–hopefully to one day become fluent.  Anyway, one day when I was working on an extremely boring project at work, a thought occurred to me–a thought that actually combined all my major hobbies and pursuits.  The word for “hook” in French is “crochet”, so Killian’s title in French is actually “Capitaine Crochet”.  Naturally my next thought was that there had to be a fic in there somewhere.
Thus this story was born.
–This little fic should have one more chapter.  Up next:  Emma feels bad for snapping at Killian–especially when she realizes he’s spending a lot more time away from her.  One day she learns his secret–his brand new hobby–and it makes her fall in love with him all over again.

Buck & Eddie:  Two emergencies in 7x1 illustrated Buck hasn’t dealt with his death

It appears the first call with the older onery couple and the second call with the burned car relate to Buck’s death and they seem to illustrate how he’s not over it yet.
These are my OBSERVATIONS and INTERPRETATIONS of two scenes included in 7x1 and other people’s may differ since everyone consumes and interprets media differently.
Now back to the regularly scheduled program…
Before I delve into this, I have to mention that I don’t think Buck’s over his death yet.  Does he want to be?  Yes but the fact is he hasn’t dealt with it and the first two emergencies in 7x1 alluded to it.
For those who read my post about my frustrations surrounding the fact that TM (showrunner) said Buck was tired of talking about death and he just wants to be happy (linked here), I’ve elaborated on why I believe he hasn’t dealt with it yet in this post.  I found two things in the first episode of season 7 that seems to prove my theory associated with the way TM might be saving Buck dealing with the fact that he ACTUALLY DIED in season 6 until after 7x6 airs since that’s Maddie’s wedding and the Buckley parents are scheduled to return.
I live blogged during last week’s episode but while doing so, I noticed so many things that I wanted to expound on but I wanted to analyze them first to see how they connected to previous seasons and episodes.  I watched the episode three more times for multiple reasons but mainly because I wanted to make sure I understood all the callbacks, hindsight, metaphors and foreshadowing.  This post will not include everything I found because it’s a lot but I will do several posts to cover the others.

While Buck and Eddie were in the locker room talking, Buck said all ND wanted to talk about was his death, it got boring after a while and he didn’t know why he thought dating a dEaTh DoUlA was a good idea.  Eddie responded, “Well you had just died” but then he said something else that caused me to pause because it was JARRING.  He said, “Welcome back to the land of the living Buck, you were missed” (more on this topic below).
Be clear, I’M GLAD SHE’S GONE AND I WISH THE SHOW WOULDN’T HAVE SHOVED THEM INTO A RELATIONSHIP.  If she would have helped Buck with the fact that he died like she was supposed to then all that screen time spent on whatever they had in season 6 could have been used to SHOW how he arrived at a point of just wanting to be happy at the beginning of season 7 but the audience didn’t get that.  The truth is, if he wasn’t opening up and talking about it (it’s likely he wasn’t since he’s not in therapy) then of course it got boring for him because he was doing what he always does, avoiding dealing with his own issues by trying to fix everyone else’s.  Reminder, he’s the guy who likes to fix things except for when it’s his own problems.  He avoids them the same way he avoided moving on from AC in season 2 which equates to the way he avoided talking to TK for a week so he wouldn’t have to break up with her at the end of season 5.

Also, Buck hides his true feelings and he said so in 4x2 when he was in a FaceTime therapy session with Dr. Copeland.  He said, “How I hide my true feelings from others”.  Additionally, in 6x15, he told Eddie, “The truth is I am different.  But I feel like I have to be the same old Buck, mostly for the sake of everyone else.”  These two statements he made along with the way he avoids things further substantiates the fact that Buck is hiding the way he really feels about his death and he’s pretending to be happy.
IMO, the first and second emergencies in 7x1 the 118 was dispatched to appeared to show where Buck is mentally.  I’ll start with the chair and the car metaphors in this post because they’re the ones I couldn't forget when I watched live.  After my initial viewing, I kept wondering why the man in the first call was not only sitting in a reclining chair but he was ALSO TRAPPED IN IT.  Additionally, I couldn’t get over the fact that Buck and Eddie were the only two on the scene of the second call with that burned car.  Not only was the car destroyed from the inside out; it was the question the owner of the car asked Buck that I couldn’t forget.  The chair and the car are the two items I’ll expound on in this post to illustrate how they relate to Buck’s death and I’ll include my opinion to explain how they might relate to what could possibly happen with him before the end of the season.

They should because Buck and Abe are both sitting in arm chairs that are suited for only one person and they mirror the way Buck’s life could end up if he lives it the way other people want him to instead of him living it the way he wants to. The darker color in the suede of Abe's chair is similar to the color of Buck's leather chair. Also, Abe's chair is outdated but he still uses it so he doesn't have to deal with Edna.

In 7x1, Abe just wanted to be at EASE with his life while sitting and relaxing in his chair but his wife wouldn’t let him.  He was trying to watch TV but she kept knit picking at everything he was doing.  She was doing the whole “pay attention to me or else I’ll force you to do it and make your life a living hell while I'm at it” dynamic and it was annoying AF. They had been married for more than 30 years and they never had any kids but they were also miserable.  They hated each other and it appears they were in a marriage neither of them wanted to be in.  After the 118 arrived, Edna said, “He loves that chair more than the loves me”.

Furthermore, they had a couch in their home but it was just sitting there which means ABE REFUSED TO SIT ON IT WITH HER.  He told Chimney the fighter jet should have put one of them out of their misery.
Was the depiction of their relationship reminiscent of one from season 5?  YES!
In 6x1, Bobby told Buck he needed to take inventory of his life so he could be at EASE and when he did, he sat in his chair but at the time, since he had already given TK the boot, he didn’t have to worry about her doing to him what Edna spent 30 years doing to Abe.  If Buck would have kept on clinging to TK, then that could have been his fate.  TK was shallow and wanted all the attention on herself the same way Edna did and she proved it with her raggedy and immoral journalistic behaviors.  She had planned to throw the 118 under the bus in 2x6 but she didn’t get the chance to do it then since the LAFD’s lawyers were more powerful than her news station’s lawyers.  However, she jumped at the opportunity to do it a second time in season 5 when she didn’t have anyone to stop her.
Abe’s relationship with Edna gave the audience a future flash forward of where Buck could end up if he follows what some GA viewers want him to do.  Before he died, in 6x2, Lev told him his life went by in a blur and it was the reason he went to the happiness convention with his friends.  Abe chose the life he felt like he was expected to live with a wife and a house too but based on the way he was acting; it clearly wasn’t something he would have chosen for himself.  And he was so far from being at ease that he was miserable.

Additionally, Edna was a combination of every woman Buck’s ever dated.  She was older and had red hair which coincides with AC.  She didn’t care about what Abe was doing because she wanted him to do what she wanted which coincides with TK and also, she had red hair.  She was frustrated with him and what he was doing which correlates her to AM, reminder she didn’t like Buck’s job which is the reason why she left him with a cast on his leg after the ladder truck explosion.  Finally, ND was fascinated by Buck’s death the same way Edna was fascinated by the fact that Abe might not be ok.  She cared more about the chair being out of her house than she did about his well-being.  Their lives were miserable but instead of ending their relationship, they clung to each other just like Buck and TK did in season 5.
IMO, the couple represented the life Buck would have if he follows the path some people in the GA want him to.  Believe it or not, there are still viewers who want everyone to do things the way they did them, i.e., get married, have a house, have kids and work a job until they die and instead of wanting Buck and Eddie to experience the true love they clearly share to flourish and grow, for WhAtEvEr ReAsOnS, they’d rather they stay in relationships with the women who wronged, abandoned and ignored them. It appears they're choosing not to see how much they love each other and they would prefer them to “stick it out” in relationships with people who clearly make them miserable.

Reminder, in 6x15, Buck told Eddie, “I still don't know how to act. I am different but I feel like I have to be the same old Buck, mostly for the sake of everyone else” and I’ve always believed he was saying that directly to the audience.  It was aimed at the women who wanted him to keep waiting around for AC or those who wanted him to stay with AM because she had an adult conversation with him before she dipped.  Then there are those who wanted him to stay with TK because she was career driven (that’s a bunch of BS because journalists can be driven in their careers without being immoral, vindictive, callous or using people to get popular by writing a crappy book) and then there are those who wanted Buck to stay with ND (I know this may be hard to believe but there are posts that indicate “he knew what he was getting into when he dated her” 🙄).  Like seriously, they wanted him to stay with her because in their minds, she was perfect for him but haven’t all his girlfriend’s stans said that?  They have and the question they should ask themselves is, why haven’t any of Buck’s relationships worked (related post linked here and here) instead of acting like the women who treated him poorly deserved to stick around.  Also, Buck’s a ticking time bomb waiting to explode the same way that dummy bomb would have if it had gone off. However, just like on the call, Eddie’s going to be there for Buck but it’s unclear when or if he’ll be able to stop it from happening.

The burned car was still smoldering but it was also hollow and charred to the core.  IMO, it was included as a call that only Buck and Eddie were allowed to extinguish as a way to illustrate how it’ll take both of them working together to repair Buck’s charred, burned and smoldering insides.  Reminder, in 6x10 he was struck by lightning and he died which means he’s probably feeling hollow on the inside and I think he feels all cored out just like that burned car.  While they were in the locker room, it appeared he was ready to talk to Eddie about the way he feels which is the reason why he may have invited him to go out so they could be alone and he could speak freely.  But he backed off when Eddie mentioned “Big date” and reminder, Buck was the one who assumed Eddie had a date with M (more on this below) but Eddie was talking about Chris' date.
After Eddie left, the audience didn’t see Buck leave so apparently, he went somewhere but who knows where since he wasn’t shown again until the next time they were at work.  If they had gone together, it would have been a date but IIRC, other than the poker date in 6x13, every time Buck and Eddie hung out in the past, they were at Buck's loft or at Eddie’s house.  Additionally, Eddie admitted he’s a nester which means he’s ok with them staying in like they did when they played video games and drank beer in the past.  The one time they went to a bar together in 3x11 doesn’t count as a date because the rest of the 118 was there with Albert.  I think Buck was extending an olive branch and trying to let Eddie know he needed him the same way Eddie tried to let Buck know he needed him before his breakdown in season 5 but when he finally broke, Chris called Buck and he came running.  I’ve always wondered how it will play out if Buck breaks down while he’s alone in the loft and I have an idea of how it will happen but I haven’t decided if I’ll post it on here.

When they were done, the car owner asked, “Is it a total loss or is…?” and Buck responded, “Uh… not total.” then he smiled, held up a pine tree fragranced car freshener, which is symbolic of an actual family tree because of the ROOTS, then said, “Have a good day”.  Buck’s biological family roots are about to come into question AGAIN (related post about the Buckley parents other deep dark family secret linked here) and guess what?  When they do, it’s going to rock him to his CORE and the only person who’ll be able to help him is EDDIE!  Buck’s not a total loss as the phrasing in the scene alluded to and Eddie KNOWS that! However, Buck will need for Eddie to tell him that over and over again until he starts to believe it.
I think the confrontation OS mentioned that’s supposed to occur between Buck and Eddie will be in relation to Buck’s self-worth and how he views himself.  There are a lot of people who want to move on from the fact that Buck died and rightfully so since he along with the viewers had to endure an entire season of him not dealing with his issues.  But the truth is 9-1-1 hasn’t moved on from it either and even though TM said Buck’s ready to find happiness, the fact still remains that Buck hasn’t dealt with the reality of his own death.

IMO, he will find happiness when he’s in a relationship with Eddie and reminder, Eddie’s the one who’s always trying to encourage him.  He did it in 7x1 too after Buck said, “You don’t want him to end up like me” but Eddie was quick to respond, “You didn’t end up like you”.  It was soft, pure and so full of love that it took Buck’s breath away.
Now be honest, would AC, AM, TK or ND have said that to him?  The answer NO!
I stand by the things I included in a previous post because Connor and Kameron are supposed to return some time around or after 7x5 and that’s when I believe the proverbial $hit regarding Buck’s self-worth will hit the fan since it’s likely they’ll have some devastating news for him about the baby.  Then the Buckley parents are set to return for Maddie’s wedding and nothing good ever happens to Buck when they do so it's looking like a trifecta of bad news for Buck (related post linked here).
Other than the time he spent talking to Chris at Eddie’s house, Buck was only shown at work during the entire episode and I believe that was on purpose.  It’s unclear when he’ll be shown in the loft again but when he is, that could be when the audience sees he’s not doing as well as he’s trying to get people to believe.  It’s likely the way he really feels about the fact that he died will be shown and if he feels like that burned car… it’s not going to be pretty or pleasant.
Eddie KNOWS Buck’s not doing well but he’s not going to push him to talk just like he didn’t in 6x12.  He’s going to wait until Buck’s ready then, he’ll have the heart-to-heart talk with him the same way he always does.  Reminder, Eddie takes care of Buck (post linked here) while Buck listens to Eddie and makes him talk (post linked here).  In 7x1, Eddie said, “Welcome back to the land of the living Buck.  You were missed” and I kept wondering why he phrased it like that but then I realized it’s because he knows Buck hasn’t confronted the fact that he died but he’s not going to push him, he’ll wait until he says he’s ready then Eddie will be there to take care of him like he always is.
Make no mistake, Buck’s happiness is with Eddie but he thinks he’s off limits since he’s “dating” M (please understand I don’t think Eddie and M are "seriously dating" and that's based on RG's responses about the character of M in his interviews. I’ll do a separate post on it explaining how the show and the actors have explained it in so many words).
TM used two BOLD contrasts in the first episode, a chair and a car, to show Buck has to deal with his death and it’s likely he'll continue to include these types of metaphors until he does.  Also, TM's comment about Buck being tired of talking about dying seems to be a bait and switch and he's trying to get viewers to look away from Buck’s death so they’ll forget he’s been hiding it, then they’ll be blindsided by it when he finally breaks. Reminder, after the Madney wedding, there will still be 4 episodes left in the season and what exactly will TM fill them with🧐?
Will Buck finally deal with the fact that he died this season since he didn't in season 6?  Who knows but based on the chair and the car, it appears his process of dealing with it has just begun.

Part 2: What Then?
I promise I have a life, but I couldn't help writing part 2 today! This takes place the same day as the "Development Day" when Syd and Carmy are thrown off by each other's answers during an ice breaker activity. Post-season 2. Feel-good fluff.

"So those are the menu changes for Chicago Restaurant Week. If you have questions, feel free to ask me or Chef Sydney. You should also have an email from Natalie by later today. Okay, let's prep for night service!"
Carmy closed the meeting, grateful that it was finally over. He was no longer afraid of public speaking after rising in the ranks of various kitchens, but his mind was not in this ever since the ice breaker. He, Carmen Berzatto, had made Sydney's favorite meal ever? The last time he prepared the pork confit and the Milk and Honey dishes she mentioned was several years ago. Back then he was at Eleven Madison Park, a rising star on the culinary scene, who chain-smoked, slept 3 hours a night, and was berated by the EC daily. It was a nightmare peppered with flashes of genius. He was dying to ask her about it, but before he could get her attention Sydney had slipped into the kitchen.
He stared disappointed at the window that separated the dining area and kitchen.
"Hey Bear, what's up with you?" Richie said sidling up to him trying to follow his gaze.
"Nothing cousin."
"Yeah, right. I missed when it happened, but it seems like you crashed and had to reboot during the meeting. Then you were lost in Sydney-land. Want to talk about it?"
Carmy rubbed his eyes and raked his hands through his hair. When he used both hands, Richie knew without a doubt he had hit on something.
"First, cool it about Syd. That handout you gave us was really cute. And yes, there's something on my mind, but it's not for me to say."
Richie grinned and rubbed Carmy's shoulder.
"Fine, just get your head together because tonight is going to be loaded and it includes three anniversaries and a birthday. And second, you need to cool it about her or do something. It's like I'm living in The Wonder Years with Kevin and Winnie."
"What?"
"Oh, right. That's probably before your time. Kids!"
With that Richie sauntered over to the host stands to strategize with the wait staff and hosts.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Sydney who had a thousand things to do, was adding at least a hundred more onto her plate. She didn't want to appear like she had a moment to spare. She and Carmy could talk at the end of the night as usual, without any eavesdropping. This would also give her time to think of an explanation as to why she never mentioned eating at Eleven Madison Park and that she wasn't a stalker who followed him to The Beef. To top off this awkward sundae, Carmy casually admitted his favorite part of the day was closing, the only time they are alone every day. She hoped no one else had connected the dots on that last part.
The afternoon and the night never went quicker to her chagrin. Even when one of the line cooks was sent home due to illness and a large group put in an order for 7 Fishes two minutes before tickets closed, she thought the night couldn't last long enough. Fortunately, Carmy seemed resigned to waiting and didn't look at her more than usual. In a flash service was over and no one was in the mood to hang around. By 11:00pm Sydney had cleaned her station for the third time and forced herself to go to Carm's office. He sat there pretending to do busy work, patiently waiting like a child who consoled himself that his parents wouldn't make him wait too long to open his Christmas presents.
"Hey Syd...it was a good night," he said softly not wanting to scare her away.
Sydney nodded and took a seat. Might as well get it over with it.
"Okay, yes. You made the best meal I've ever had. During a break at the CIA, I went to NYC and ate everywhere on my list, including Eleven Madison Park. It was a Wednesday night and I ordered several things including pork confit and Milk and Honey."
Sydney couldn't help closing her eyes and smiling at the memory. Her guard began to slip.
"Carm, it was like tasting my future and the best part of my past at the same time. I asked the waiter who made those dishes and he said Carmen Berzatto."
Carmen leaned forward on the desk. Whenever Sydney praised him, he felt like a cactus in an unexpected downpour. He wouldn't waste a single word. Her sunny existence and her belief in him sustained him during his dry seasons. He reached for her whenever he looked at the debt they still owed Uncle Cicero, when his mother finally visited The Bear and cried saying that he had erased Mikey, and even when their success seemed too good to be true. 
Sydney opened her eyes to find him looking at her in the way he had. It was terrifying because she had a very specific plan for her career. It also thrilled her, knowing the power she had over him. Five months ago, she had been begging for his focus and now she knew every her mood, glance, and word she spoke impacted him. Once for the fun of it during a slow night she stared at him until she drew his attention and smiled. He blushed, smiled back, came towards her without saying "corner", and crashed into one of the servers, sending three Michael cannoli to the floor. That was three months ago when she first realized something was going on with him. She'd refused to abuse her power since, going so far as to convince herself that she was overestimating his feelings. Then he said the best part of his day was closing. She hoped, well sort of hoped, that they could maintain this close, but not too close partnership and friendship without complications.
After a long pause Carmen sighed and sat back in his chair.
"So, how did you find me?"
"Well, like I said when we met, it was the job posting. I recognized your name and also The Beef from my dad taking me here."
She shrugged thoughtfully.
"It felt like it was meant to be. It gave me hope for the first time since Sheridan went under."
He nodded.
"It's really strange. You came here because I inspired you and the only reason, I felt capable of attempting something this big was because of you" he said gesturing to the ceiling.
"Yeah?" Sydney whispered.
"Yeah."
He stood up and walked around to sit on the desk facing her. Now, Sydney felt vulnerable looking up at him. It was so easy for him to unnerve her when he spoke this way, like under the table.
Carmy took one her hands and after a moment brought it to his lips.
"Thank you for telling me, Syd. It means a lot."
Sydney was unable to speak. Her throat had closed.
"Soon, is your one year work anniversary and I think we should celebrate."
She nodded.
Carmy set her hand down.
"It's late. I'll drive you home."
With that they left the office, gathered their stuff, and walked to his car in silence.
As they drove, Sydney attempted to talk herself down. Was that hand kiss, an Italian thing? Possibly. It also seemed like Carmy decided to do...something, but what? Worse, she was feeling like they had traded positions in mere seconds. She'd enjoyed having the upper hand. Oh, well. With a goodnight's rest she'd be back in form tomorrow. Maybe "accidentally" brush past him, or ask him to lift something heavy for her and comment on his strength. Then it would be game over for poor Carmy bear. For now, she wouldn't worry about the work anniversary. It was probably just going to be a cake Carm commissioned Marcus to bake.
Probably.

I’ve seen some people who seem to strongly dislike Della Duck or see her as a terrible mother so I wanted to give reasons as to why she’s actually a good mother. I’m writing this as in-depth as possible to prove how Della is a good person. This is a biased opinion, obviously, but I’m also not entirely disregarding Dellas mistakes.
I talk about her mistakes but I also talk about how those mistakes aren’t her defining characteristics. She’s way more than how people make her out to be.

“Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!” Episode 12, season 2
Coming back to Earth after ten years of being stuck on the moon can be challenging for multiple different reasons. (Adjusting to society, missing out on a decade of new things, getting back on a proper food and sleep schedule, etc).
The biggest thing the show highlights for Della is her struggle to parent. It can be hard to interact with people again after such a long time let alone become a parent of three (especially once they’ve already grown into 10 year olds). One could say that she had it coming since she was the one to have kids and then hop on the rocket prematurely. I can understand that it is infuriating that Della got onto the rocket but obviously getting lost was never her intention. She made a mistake and it’s shown throughout the show that she does deeply regret it.
Della did not intentionally leave her kids when she did this. There is a difference between leaving your family intentionally and going missing. It’s clearly shown throughout the show that Della cares for her kids so she would never leave them permanently. She tried her best to go back to Earth to get back to Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
Even when Della was stuck on the moon all she talked about was her kids and how much she missed them. No matter how many years went by she still talked to them through her camera to communicate a message to them (that, at the time, she believed would get to them) and would even talk about them to people she didn’t even know that well. She never stopped thinking about her boys.

“Whatever Happened to Della Duck?!” Episode 7, season 2
I fully believe that her only optimism and motivation to keep going was her kids. She always tried to remain positive even after several years went by. It can be really hard to remain optimistic while being stuck on the moon especially when you have no one else there with you. It can be isolating and terrifying.
Della has gone through ups and downs especially after seeing a beast who turned out to also be a mother. Della felt she related to the beast and even gave the mother her gold tooth even when she didn’t need to. She realized there was no way she’d be getting home if she did this yet she selflessly did it anyways. She felt heart break after heart break of losing her ways to get home.
It is unfair to say that Della hasn’t gotten any backlash or a punishment from her mistake. Yes, getting on the rocket was a big mistake and an awful one but her mistake was her punishment. She faced monsters that constantly attacked her and prevented her from getting home, she’s been stuck with no interaction with anyone for 10 years, she faced trauma, and she had to face her children whom she left after 10 years. So yes, she was punished and I don’t see or understand what other punishment she should have gotten.
Once Della had gotten back on Earth she immediately went to Scrooges mansion to see her boys.

“Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!” Episode 12, season 2
Della apologized and even asked her boys if they could have her back as their mother. I do understand that they are children and it can be difficult to make such a choice. And, being children, it would be likely that they’d say yes. But I believe Della handled this apology well and the most important thing is that she DID apologize and even asked for forgiveness. Not a lot of parents do that.
I understand that during this scene Louie didn’t have a moment to accept like his brothers did. Dewey got excited and instantly agreed to having her as a mother so he didn’t give Huey nor Louie a chance to say anything. This is more of an issue with Louie’s feelings not being heard by, not only Della, but also by his brothers. It can be easy to unintentionally ignore someone’s feelings when you aren’t paying attention.
This isn’t necessarily Della nor Dewey’s fault. Louie in general has very complex feelings unlike his brothers (but I’ll get to that in a moment.)
This is an easy mistake to make especially if you’re too excited when seeing your kids for the first time. To Della she’s meeting new people she doesn’t know yet. Each of her kids are different with different feelings and she just needs to learn more about them. That’s why I believe it made sense for Della to come off as “too much” when first meeting them. She’s still learning to be a parent and that comes with some mistakes.

Della messed up a lot on learning to be a parent which is natural! She’s taking care of ten year olds whom she didn’t know at birth so obviously she is going to have some trouble.
She made the boys cake which she messed up, she told them scary stories, and she tried to act fun. Della may have made these mistakes but she was trying to be the best mom she could for them. It would be completely strange and unrealistic if Della had been completely perfect for them.

Della & Huey
Out of the three triplets Huey definitely had the least interactions with Della but that didn’t make their relationship is any less important. They still related in ways that they are both intelligent and, when first meeting each other, Huey got super excited when he discovered that Della was a Junior Woodchuck too.
The side plot in “Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake!” Is an example of a bonding moment between both Della and Huey. The two were both playing a video game called “Legend of Legend Quest.” This is a game Huey was currently obsessed with while Della mentions she used to play it all the time after adventures. This is another example of what both Della and Huey have in common relating to special interests.
While playing Della discovered that Huey would rather sit and plant his garden than fight because he claimed it was too dangerous. Della, on the other hand, would rather fight than sit around and plant. This seems to be the twos defining differences, super safe VS the not so super safe.
While Della is fighting, however, Huey seemed to be getting jealous and antsy, suddenly getting the urge to fight as well.

“Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake!” Episode 18, season 2
Huey wanted to step out of the area that caused him comfort and Della was fully encouraging of this. It’s good to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while and to not stay so boxed in to one area. She claimed that “every journey begins with a single step” which is a motivating and good thing for a kid to hear.
Della never once forced Huey out of his comfort zone and slowly allowed him to do it himself. This is completely his choice and Della is just encouraging it which is a good thing. Theres nothing wrong with stepping out of your comfort zone as long as you aren’t being forced into uncomfortable situations.

Della & Dewey
In season one Dewey discovered information about his mom and found out about the Spear of Selene so it’s only natural that the two would bond well together once she had come back.
Della does relate to each of the boys in different aspects but Dewey was definitely meant to be the one she related to the most. Dewey is like a mirror of Della. They’re both very similar and the show wants you to know that. They’re both hyper, ambitious, and jump into action/danger.
With this information in mind, it is known that since they’re similar they have a lot of moments together throughout the show. This does NOT mean she picks favorites as some people like to point out. She loves each of her kids individually and just because she is similar to Dewey that doesn’t mean she favors him the most.
Della and Dewey instantly went on an adventure together after the episode Della came back. Throughout the episode “Raiders of The Doomsday Vault!” Della taught Dewey how to fly the plane and they both defy Scrooge to go on their own little adventure to the money tree. Della and Dewey both struggle in this episode with each other: learning to say no.

Della is very encouraging to Dewey and tells him he can do anything he sets his mind to. When a kid as young as Dewey gets told this by their mother they truly feel that they can do anything no matter how impossible. This can be both good and bad for a multitude of reasons. While, yes, it is good to encourage your kid that they can do things it can also be very dangerous since the kid could get into bad situations.
Dewey started to get more risky the more Della convinced him he could do anything. When he hopped toward the money seeds, no ground beneath him, Della started to panic, thinking he’d fall. Dewey just convinced her it would be fine, “I can do anything! Just like you told me!”
Della started to realize that maybe what she had said wasn’t the best but she didn’t stop him. Once he made it to the money seeds, accidentally planted them, he slipped and fell when he realized he couldn’t do it. Della saved him and Dewey suddenly felt like he let her down.

“Raiders of the Doomsday Vault!” Episode 13, season 2
Dewey let out his emotions and Della convinced him that he didn’t need to impress her. Dewey didn’t need to be her. He had limits, obviously, and there was just some things he couldn’t do that she could. But no matter what she would always love him.
Della made a very simple mistake that a lot of parents make. It’s not talked about a lot because not everyone sees any bad in encouraging your kid but sometimes in situations like this it can go too far. No one usually wants to say no to their kid or tell them they can’t do something.
Throughout the show Della seems to be very supportive of Dewey and what he wants to do (an example of this is “The Lost Cargo of Kit Cloudkicker!” Episode 20, season 3.) It’s hard for Della to say no because she wants to support Dewey no matter what even if it’s something he’s not so good at.
Again, theres nothing wrong with doing this. Dewey will grow and learn that the hobby he wanted to do so bad wasn’t something he was so good at. Dewey is a kid who seems to jump from one hobby/activity to the next. And once he discovers he’s bad at something he will just hop to the next thing to see if he’s good at it. And Della will always be encouraging and supportive no matter what new thing he tries.
I’ve seen a point being made that Della is too dangerous and isn’t considering her kid’s safety. Just to clarify this is a Ducktales! This shows whole premise is big, dangerous, adventures. Scrooge Mcduck puts these kids through so many dangerous situations that is the point of the show. But people seem to pick on Della more for doing the same thing Scrooge does. I understand not every character is into big and dangerous adventures (Ex: Louie, Donald) but that is more of an issue that needs to be communicated with the rest of the family.

Della & Louie
This is where people have the most complaints regarding Della. You could say that Louie is the complete opposite of how Dewey is with Della. But this doesn’t necessarily mean Della and Louie don’t have a good relationship. In “Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!” It is very clear to the audience that Louie is confused and has complicated feelings towards his mom unlike Huey and Dewey.
Not only does Della unintentionally ignore Louie’s feelings but so does his brothers. Both Huey and Dewey are happy that their mom is back while Louie seems confused and conflicted by his own feelings. This is a completely valid emotion for Louie to have. If someone you barely know comes back after a long time it can be hard to trust them or see them as family.

“Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!” Episode 12, season 2
Louie expresses his feelings about his mom and even felt guilty for feeling this way. Della over heard this and it hurt her, for obvious reasons. But then later, near the end of the episode, Della saved Louie from the Gilded Man which was a very emotional moment for him. Della and Louie hugged then Della said to her three kids, “I know you’re not used to having a mom…and I am not used to being one, but I’ll figure it out as we go along. In time.” To which Louie smiled and responded back with, “we all will.”
Even though Della was talking to all three of her boys here you can tell it was more directed toward Louie considering he was the one that felt conflicted with their mom coming back. Della saying this and Louie’s response is like a silent agreement that they both understand each other in some way. Della will figure out how to be a mom and Louie will figure out how to have a mom.
Another big important moment between the two comes from “Timephoon!” In season two episode 21. Throughout this episode Della is convincing herself, and others, that she is a cool mom. She’s not strict and she is completely ok with the kids bringing in a cave Duck that came from no where. While a storm is happening outside the family is forced to stay indoors. Dewey and Webby get food prepared which is revealed to be chili dogs. Beakley is highly against it while Della is fully ok with it.
While watching it’s noticeable how often Beakley picks on Dellas parenting style. She’s too ok with what her kids are doing and she lets things go easily. That is until things get more and more out of hand when they discovered that different people from the past were appearing in the present time. Scrooge and Beakley instantly assume that one of the kids must have caused it. Della, on the other hand, is certain that her kids could not be the cause of it.
While Beakley and Della fight ninjas from the past, Della is still not convinced that her kids would be the cause of the time incident. She believed that her kids are “good kids” and says so to Beakley.
“Even good kids do dumb things and we have to make sure those dumb things don’t turn into bad things.”
Beakley is stating that good kids can make mistakes but that it’s a parent’s responsibility to make sure they don’t make more or worse mistakes. If a kid makes a big mistake, but they don’t learn from it, that can lead them down a bad path. At the end of the day a kid needs discipline to learn from their behavior and to never make that mistake again.
That being said there are right ways to discipline but there are also very, very, bad ways to discipline (ex: any form of hitting/spanking). But i believe Della handled it well.

“Timephoon!” Episode 21, season 2
In the end Della found out that Louie had been hiding the fact that he stole the time tub from Gyros lab to steal treasure from the past which, in return, caused time to get screwed up. Della was furious when she found out and took Beakleys advice into account. She realized that Beakley was right: kids need discipline even if you love them. Tough love. So Della gave him a stern talking to and explained that what he did was wrong: he stole and he almost lost his family by causing them to go back in time. So Della grounded Louie when no one else was going to.
Louie was mad, obviously. He’s a kid and to him he felt it was unfair, no kid wants to be grounded. But he needed the grounding to learn his lesson. Once Louie marched to his room Della dropped to her knees. On her exterior she had been trying to remain strong and tough towards Louie but once he was gone she expressed how hard it was for her to do it.
Beakley let her know that it would make Louie a better person in the future to learn from those mistakes. No matter what anyone says a child needs proper discipline. It’s hard to raise a kid and not everyone wants to discipline their child. But it is needed so they don’t step all over their parental figure and get away with things.
No one else was going to do anything about Louie’s behavior. He’s a kid and he’s obviously gonna make mistakes but he needs to learn from them and not get away with it, especially if it hurts others.
People seem to take this scene way too seriously even going as far as to say that Della is an abuser or a terrible parent for this reason. This is an absurd way of thinking. No good mother is going to allow their kid to get away with their behavior and potentially hurt others.
Louies grounding was completely deserved because he did something he really shouldn’t have done. Also this clearly isn’t Della “picking favorites.” If Dewey or Huey did something this bad Della would also ground them. Huey, Dewey, and Louie are all different and those differences come with some negative and some positive attributes and behaviors. Louie gets into more trouble than his brothers due to his money schemes so, eventually, it’s gonna bite him in the ass. And as we see here, it did.
The episode that comes after (GlomTales! episode 22, season 2) is another big moment between Louie and Della. In this episode Louie is grounded and he’s forbidden to leave his room. The family is getting ready to go to Big Rock Candy Mountain without Louie which is unfortunate since it’s the perfect place for him. Cherry pep springs, gold/money, being lazy. This was unlike their other adventures which were usually more dangerous and less enjoyable for Louie.
When Louie found out they were going he was mad and demanded he go too but Della claimed that he was still grounded and couldn’t come. I see this as an unfortunate coincidence considering Louie conveniently got grounded before they went on the trip. Scrooge chose this adventure as a victory to when he would beat Glomgold in the money bet. Della didn’t choose this adventure to purposely upset Louie as she didn’t choose it at all. But her grounding against Louie still stood. Just because they were going on a fun adventure this time that didn’t make him any less grounded.
The only complaint I have against this situation is that I wish Della didn’t go on the adventure. Even though Louie did have protection at the mansion due to the home security I still feel as though Della should have stayed home with him. I also do feel like the family going on this adventure is to poke more fun at Louie since it’s a place he’d actually enjoy but that isn’t necessarily the fault of Della or Scrooge. It was just imperfect timing.
While grounded Louie tries to use his phone or even Hueys tablet but Della programmed a way to only show videos of her giving lectures. This can be a good way to get your kid to listen when they have nothing else to do in a boring room. Preferably, though, I’d say Della should give those talks in person so it’s most likely that Louie would listen. But I believe those lectures on the phone are meant to be taken lightly just in a way that Louie can’t use his phone or any other device.
Throughout the episode Louie is trying to escape his room to go to Big Rock Candy Mountain but the DT-87 (security robot) doesn’t make it any easier. He tried to escape multiple times only to fail each time.
Louie even dressed up as Huey to try and trick the DT-87 into believing he was Huey. This unfortunately didn’t work out as Huey conveniently called at the same time. Huey talked about how cool the place was (which obviously only made Louie more jealous). When Louie tired to ask for more details Huey hung up the call.
Louie got mad at this and asked out loud to no one in particular, “What’s so wrong with an innocent scheme?” to which the DT-87 replies back with another lecture video from his mom. Louie just rolled his eyes until Della in the video said,
“Your plans, your schemes, they only lead to bad things for your family. If you wanna be apart of this family, you’ve gotta stop.”
Louie looked guilty and slowly sat back on the floor while saying out loud, “this is the one thing I’m good at. Why can’t you see?”

“GlomTales!” episode 22, season 2
This shows a big miscommunication/misunderstanding between Louie and Della. Louie believed that his only good trait was his schemes and his ability to see every angle of a situation. Meanwhile Della is concerned about whether these schemes Louie has are good for the family if they just end up hurting everyone.
I don’t fully agree with how Della worded her statement. I understand her worry that Louie’s schemes might hurt the family, since it has before, but saying that the only way he can be apart of the family is if he stops entirely, i’d say, is going too far. This is the first time Della had ever disciplined one of her kids and, again, she’s still struggling with what’s right and what’s wrong when it comes to parenting.
I understand this doesn’t excuse her words and it may have cut deep with Louie. I do genuinely wish we got a call back of what Della had said here and that maybe Louie would bring up how much it hurt him.
Near the end of the episode after Louie took the villains (and Scrooges) money, he talked to his mom.
“I know I messed up before but seeing all the angles is what I’m good at.”
She smiled and hugged him, “ok, but you need to take care to not hurt the ones you love and i’ll be here to help you see the angles you can’t.”

“GlomTales!” episode 22, season 2
Here we see a bit more of them understanding each other. It’s not a lot but it’s a start. Della says she will be there to help him when he needs it and Louie’s learning to not hurt others with his actions (which can be debatable). There are some instances after this incident (Ex: The Richest Duck in the World! Ep 23 season 2, Louie’s Eleven! Ep 5, season 3.) where Louie does still come off as mean or selfish. This doesn’t necessarily mean he didn’t learn what his mom said. It could be the case where Louie struggles with being more considerate and thoughtful of others. Again, not every kid is the same and they all learn differently.
In the second half of the “Moonvasion!” Episode, Della is struggling with wanting to keep her kids safe. They’re going through an invasion by the moon people and the kids want to help. Della, on the other hand, wants to keep her children safe. She’s already lost them once and she does not want to lose them again.
Her kids later pick up on the fact that Della was trying to get them to safety instead of getting help for the war. When they get stuck on a deserted island the kids try and find a way to get home. Meanwhile, Della is still insistent that they should just stay on the island since it’s so safe.
When they deny her she started to sulk and hide in the plane. Louie walked over and decided to talk to her. When they talked Della expressed more how she’s scared to lose them. Louie, who’s usually scared of most things, comforted her to believe it’ll be fine.
Louie noticed how Della is in clear distress about possibly losing her kids again. He sat down next to her and had a talk with her.

“Moonvasion! Part ll” Episode 25, season 2
Louie admits to her that he hates surprises and that’s because they come unexpectedly and a lot of the time they’re bad. But when a bad surprise comes, that can also lead to a good surprise. Implying that his mom was a good surprise for him.
Louie loves his mom no matter what anyone thinks or believes. He wouldn’t just lie to her face if that was the case and probably wouldn’t have said this at all. He was really happy when his mom came back he was just indifferent about her which is understandable.
Just because he was confused about her at first, that doesn’t mean he hates her. Just because he got discipline from his mother, that doesn’t mean anything. They both still love each other.

“Moonvasion! Part ll” Episode 25, season 2
Della & Donald
Donald and Della broke down once they saw each other (of course, after yelling at each other). Donald thought Della, his sister, was dead for all those years. And, even though Della seemed to put him under a lot of stress, he never stopped loving her. Even when he had to take care of her kids.
He doesn’t and has never hated his sister. He also doesn’t seem sad to let Della take care of the kids again. If anything he’s probably grateful since he was struggling so bad with money (this doesn’t mean he doesn’t still love the triplets.) Obviously he’s still gonna see them, he is their uncle, after all.
Just because Della is taking her kids back, that doesn’t mean Donald is against this. He was going to go on his own trip with Daisy and start his own life with her (“The Last Adventure! part I” Ep 22, season 3). Della was even against this, as she wanted to spend more time with him, but eventually she knew it was best to let him go.
Donald and Della never show any awkwardness and hatred towards one another once she got back. Donald loves his sister and aways will.
OVER ALL
Did Della make a mistake? Yes, obviously, but that isn’t her defining feature. Donald has made mistakes (Ex: Quack Pack! Ep 2 season 3) and Scrooge has as well (Ex: New Gods on the Block! Ep 15 season 3) but no one holds those mistakes against them as much as people do with Dellas mistakes.
You could say that their mistakes weren’t as impactful or important but, and I don’t know about you, but Donald wishing he’d rather have a “normal” family isn’t too loving.

“Quack Pack!” Episode 2, season 3
I’m not saying he’s awful for this. He obviously has reasons for wishing and thinking this (wanting his family to remain safe and out of trouble) but he still made a mistake and he then went to apologize to them and help them. He was forgiven by his family and no one in the fandom bat an eye.
Scrooge is another example. He treated the triplets and Webby like they were useless, even if he did it unintentionally, he was still going to replace them in some way. Della was even the one to try and help the kids and motivate them that they could do anything and to not listen to Scrooge.

“New Gods on the Block!” Ep 15 season 3
Scrooge has done this a few other times in the show where he would hurt the kid’s feelings. Sometimes unintentionally while other times he would intend on coming off as hurtful.

People can be biased when it comes to their favorite characters which I think isn’t a set way to determine whether a character is good or bad. If Donald, Scrooge, or Della did something bad it should be acknowledged and not just thrown under the rug just because they may be your favorites. But to obsess over EVERY mistake a character has made can also be very tedious because they will always make a mistake of some kind.
I acknowledge Dellas mistakes but I don’t obsess over it and make it her whole personality (just like how I don’t do this with Donald or Scrooge). I see how she genuinely feels bad and has made up for her mistakes and THAT’S how I determine whether a character is in good faith or not. If I saw that she didn’t feel bad about her actions then my opinion on her would change into a negative one. But since the show represents Della as a kind hearted character who saw how negative her actions were my opinion on her is a good one.
These characters are bound to make mistakes it’s natural and it’s what makes a character realistic and complex. Sometimes it can range from little things like lying and other times it can be big things that can impact a characters life. It can make a story interesting and, in Dellas case, I was really interested in what the Ducktales 2017 show did to her and her story.
It was heartbreaking and sad, in my opinion. She was lost and she had to be stuck for years knowing that it was her fault that she was in that predicament. She knew that her kids were growing up without her.
No one’s denying that Della has made a mistake, but to make it an excuse as to why Della is a terrible person or parent is lazy thinking. I truly believe that people don’t look as in-depth with her character and only see her for her mistakes. This is ridiculous especially if you don’t hold other characters to that same standard.

as the sun slowly crept its way into view, Genya had realized then he had once again missed one of my your dates. he holds as many wounds as he can with his one useful arm tighter and winces, cursing himself for doing this to you. he stands for a moment, thinking how he could make it up to you.
you gasp as you gently wrapped your arms around genya's and pulled him toward you, leaning your head onto his shoulder. "Genya look!" you point ahead. "huh?" he looks curiously to where your pointing and immediately sees what your seeing, you both look at each other and smile big, running towards the watermelon stand. the old couple running the stand knowingly look at each other and laugh, standing up and readying themselves to greet you and genya. they quickly thought of how they were once young and in love, you and genya easily making them reminisce their teenage love. once you were standing infront of the couple, you excitedly spoke to them, any anxiety leaving your body. "I hadn't realized they were in season!" you smiled wide, the old lady nodded at you, her smile never leaving her face. "well they are, my dear! would you and your boyfriend like a slice? on the house!" you gasped and held your cheeks, disregarding the boyfriend comment. "your serious?" she nods and pushes the tray toward you. you gently grab the prettiest slice and push it towards genyas face. "say ah" genyas ears turn red and he opens his mouth, allowing you to feed him. he also disregards the boyfriend comment. his eyes widen and any nervousness he had before had completely left him, the slice tasted amazing. he gently grabs the slice from your hands and feeds it to you, and your eyes widen back at him. he laughs at yours and his expression, "it's the best isn't it?" he says, and you nod. "the best i've ever had!"'you eat more of the slice, "we should get an entire melon! no, let's get three! two for you and i to share and one to share with the others!" as you and genya speak of the melon, the old couple look fondly at the scene. "she reminds me of you my dear," the old man says, she snickers and looks at her husband, "and he reminds me of you, always behind me waiting for me to speak for you." they share a laugh, and as you reach into your pocket, genya steps infront of you and looks at the old couple, "how much for the entire stand" you gasp and grab his arm, "genya!" the old lady laughs and the old man widens his eyes, "are you serious?" the man says, genya scratches his neck. "well, not really." he looks to the side, and takes out as many coins as he has, "but i'll take as much as i can get." before the couple says something you take some of your coins out as well, placing them down with genyas, before he can say something you move your hands to form a 'shut your mouth' motion and look at the couple, "this will get us more right?" you and genya left with two woven baskets full of melons, each one holding 7, leaving the old couple with two melons left to sell. he wouldn't let you carry even one melon to make the load easier. "let's do this again" genya says, smiling at you, you nod and smile big, "we should! i had a lot of fun today" he shyly looks away and grabs your hand, "how about next week?"
it's the third week he's said that.
"-r arm." genya snaps out of his thoughts and looks next to him, it's Tanjiro. "huh?" genya says, looking at Tanjiro will his full attention. tanjiro smiles, a warm aura oozing out of him, trying to calm down after the hard fight. "i was saying if i could bandage your arm" genya looks over at his arm as tanjiro points, his blood is practically decorating the floor. but before he could answer a sharp pain hits his rib. his vision gets blurry as his breathing becomes labored and he begins to pass out, your shadowy figure filtering his vision just before he closes his eyes.
he wakes up in one of the rooms in the butterfly estate, it's about noon and the comfort he feels pisses him off. he shouldn't be there, he should be apologizing to you, again. he looks to his side, the action hurting, and he sees Tanjiro speaking to some of the girls in the butterfly estate. "is y/n going to be here?" Tanjiro said, already aware of genyas affections towards you. one of the butterfly girls nod, "y/n should be coming soon, she mentioned she had slept late when she came by in the morning so we sent her back home to rest a little longer. Aoi sent someone to get her." guilt begins to eat at his heart, you had waited for him the entire night, regardless of the fact that you had promised to help the girls clean in the morning, "i see," tanjiro says, looking at genya. he jumps at seeing his eyes open, "your awake!" he smiles, "what a relief," tanjiro says. genya nods and closes his eyes, sighing, "what a relief," he says back. he opens his eyes and sits up, one of the girls quickly rushing to his side, "slowly genya! your ribs are still broken, you have to take it easy." he grumbles, rolling his eyes. he sits up fully and looks around the room, "can i be alone for a moment." he pauses, "please." and they all nod, leaving him be. "Aoi is almost done with the food, so you should be getting your lunch soon." one of the girls says, smiling before he closes the door. he looks over himself and noticed many fresh scares adorning his flesh, and he can't decide wether to love or hate them. they look and feel ugly, but he feels a little stronger than before, a familiar feeling of weakness creeping up his chest. he won't amount to sanemi, ever, and these scars make him feel ugly, not strong like they usually do.
Aoi hands you the plate of food, warning you that it's hot and to be careful. you quickly brush her off and thank her as you barge into genyas room. as he prepares to cuss out the person who came in against his wishes, he calms down as he sees you and looks away. he can feel his throat get tight and his eyes gloss over. you exhale in relief but your movement remain frantic, excitedly running to him. you close the door and rush to put his food on the table next to him, placing the box you held behind you and straddling his legs carefully. you grab his face and make him look at you, and since he can't bring himself to push you away, he just holds onto your wrists tightly for support. your hair is messy and not done in its usual style as your eye bags remain prominent and your face is puffy, a telltale sign that you had just woken up. he looks at your lips and sees they're still a tad bit glossy, not allowing himself to continue to look at them. it feels like a punishment, but the feeling dies out as he looks at your cheeks and nose. your cheeks a tinged with pink, and your nose is still sun burnt from the time you'd gone to the markets together. your hands are warm against his cold skin, and he leans into your touch. you smile wide in disbelief and a few tears roll down your face. he moves his hands to wipe them as they come down , his brows furrowing. "no no no, don't cry, please.." his throat is tighter than ever and he swallows every word he was thinking of saying, he wants to cry with you. you close your eyes and hug him softly, a great contrast to your usual bone crushing one's, and feel all around him. his hand gently makes its way up to your head, and he cradled it, digging his fingers into your hair. "just-" you choke out, "you're alive. your physically here, oh my god." you pull away, although hesitantly, and take him in. he was wearing a loose patient shirt, and it gave a full view of his arms and neck. you rested your fingers on the buttons of it, and looked at him. your eyes met his, 'can i?' he nods, his eyes speak for him, 'you can do whatever you desire.'
you unbutton it he lets you see his upper body freely. you can see many fresh wounds, some bandaged and some are already scarred, his demon powers you think. he shrinks into himself as you gaze and you nod no, "you're beautiful, genya." you exhale, and push him down slowly in a means to not irritate his wounds. "i was worried sick," you cry, he continues to wipe every tear that makes its way to your chin, "when Aoi woke me up, and told me what happened, i wanted to scream," you hold his hand and lean in, "i was so pissed-" you choke, "why didn't she tell me right away? why did she wait until you were stable to tell me, i mean-" you breathe in, "what if something had happened during your treatment, and i had spent my time sleeping through it," you shake your head. "i would never forgive myself, im supposed to be with you through it all, through every second ." he nods at you, "but i'm okay." he says, and you laugh. "you're okay, yes." you sniffle as you smile but frown soon after, "they were surprised you survived. a lot of blood loss, i saw all the bloody rags outside.. i felt my heart drop to my stomach genya." he can only imagine how he'd feel if he was in your place. "im just glad the news i got of you was that you were expected wake up, and not your time of death." he takes a hand off your face and holds your hand. he hasn't smiled at all, and his gaze is distant. you move your head, and kiss his palm gently. he blushes and as his lips part in shock he shuts it when you lean into his chest. you take a second to hear his heartbeat and when you feel it's enough you kiss the spot. he debates on holding his breath or not. you slowly get up and trace the new scars, kissing them when your finger meets the end. and you do this all over his chest, stomach and arms. "i don't know how you do it," you softly say. "all these," you kiss the biggest scar, "and you still remain standing. Tanjiro told me how long you held out, i really don't think i'd ever be able to do it." you grab his arm with the most wounds and sob, "they make you look so tough," you giggle as you squeeze his bicep after noticing the muscle flex when you grabbed it, "gyomei fed you well, didn't he" he blushes and exhales a small laugh. mainly out of disbelief. you kiss all over his arm gently, and begin to give him butterfly kisses up to his neck. you begin to position yourself comfortably and rest your head in the crook of his neck to continue to give him butterfly kisses. you place your hand on his heart and he places his hand over it, not wanting you to take it off. he wraps his arm over your shoulder and pushes you closer into him as he kisses your head, letting it linger for a second more.
you both lay there for a moment before you suddenly gasp. "Genya your food!" you push yourself up too fast for his liking. you grab his food
and set everything up as you help him sit up. before you can feed anything to him he grabs your hand. "i need to apologize." he whispers, and you lean your head in confusion. "what do you mean?" you say,
"last night," he pauses, " i left you waiting." your mouth forms an 'o. "you're here now, aren't you? you were only a few hours away from me, if i had waited just a li-" he clamps his hand over your mouth, shaking his head no "you shouldn't have needed to wait, y/n" he is serious, and you know he feels guilty, he isn't being playful with you like he usually is. he takes his hand off your face "i would wait forever for you." you whisper. he silently winces and his chest tightens. "you're only a day late genya.. your here with me. better than never right?" he nods. "i forgive you, genya, but i promsie you i do not mind." you begin to grab the utensils to feed him, "were slayers, and you're a higher rank, i knew what i signed up for. it's okay." you feed him a piece of his food, and he realizes that it's true. he had nothing to worry about, your understanding nature quickly eased his worries, why was he so worried. "i forgive you, because i know you'd never do it intentionally." he nods again. "you're my happiness genya." you smile at him. "oh! one more thing." you reach behind you and the box you had, watermelon slices overtaking his vision. you smiled wide, " cut some melon up for you!" he hugs you tight, albeit suddenly, and when he pulls away he kisses you. it was a lingering kiss when he pulled away, and he takes you in, the sun rays peeking in from the blinds making you look even more beautiful than before. "i love you, and i've been wanting to tell you for a while now." he blushes and you follow in suit, " love you too.." and you hug him again, knocking the wind out of him, "oh sorry sorry! i forgot.." you say. he waves his hand 'it's okay' and you both share a laugh.
that night, you and him had danced under the moonlight right outside of the estate. not that he knew how, but he wanted to spend the night with you in any way possible, eager to be close to you. it was a sight that had made shinobu smile fondly at you both, thinking of how he could bring it up to gyomei when he sees him again. you had worn the clothing he bought you, and he spend the entire night telling you what you missed, ready to listen to what he had missed from you. it was late, but neither of you needed to wake up early the day after.
funfact! every time watermelons are in season, the old couple awaits yours and genyas return. when the summer you and genya hadn't shown up came, they had a hard time closing for the night, telling themselves you and genya had simply moved.
right before closing, Sanemi came over and bought their entire stand, cutting and giving the watermelon out with Giyuu to the village kids.
they had intially mistakened him for Genya, asking where you were, and Sanemi had to sadly explain that you and genya were no longer alive.
Since then, the couple gave flowers to Sanemi for him to place on yours and his graves, until one summer their stand was never put up.

You know in my mind Lucy's mother would visit without warning and that's how she'd learn for Tim. Lucy not telling her because they're not close and want to protect the relationship because she know her parents. Tim would want everything to be perfect and try hard to please them during dinner but her mother isn't gonna like Tim because he is a cop and divorced. I see her to be traditional don't why. And that's what would cause Lucy to blow up. Defending her relationship and telling her mom what she has kept for herself all these time. For her biological dad and everything else. Calling her on her hypocrisy and lack of support and dare I say love. Then we'd have chenford scene for support that strengthens the couple. I could see a scene where Tim stop trying to please the parents and just tell them how amazing Lucy is and what a good cop she is and that it's sad they miss all of it without lucy present in the end of the ep. Like lucy deserve to stand up to her parents herself and Tim would just calmly tell them the facts. I would want to see this in s6. We saw Tim met with Rachel and ashley parents we can do it even with a short season it's just 1 ep. Maybe then, in the next season we could see Lucy parents finally try. You know I imagine season 7 to be the engagement for chenford so they could work on building the relationship during the preparation for the wedding. Because I don't see the end of episode ending with a good note for the daughter/parents in my scenario. It wouldn't be realistic and too easy. Not me making up a full scenario in my head. At least now we know it will prob not happen lol
It's the rookie so the storyline with the parents could be a hit or a miss tbh as we know sometimes they miss. 🤐 hoping for the best tho as always!
See, this is why I'm a bit conflicted about Vanessa showing up again because I don't know what I want to see.
On the one hand, I wish she would come back just so Lucy could stand up for herself and finally confront her mom on her hypocrisy because it's a very much needed conversation. I think it could be very cathartic for Lucy. And to be frank, I thought that was where we were headed with the reveal of her bio dad… Alas, it went nowhere (for now). But on the other hand, I kind of want Vanessa to make amends. To admit that she was wrong. It may be too unrealistic (and it certainly wouldn't happen within one episode) but at the same time, I want Lucy to have some closure. Not that she can't have that in that other scenario of course.
Now should Vanessa make a come back, I absolutely can imagine your scenario, with her showing up unannounced (like she did in 2.05) and thus finding out about Tim - especially if he was the one to open the door #awkward. I doubt very much Lucy would voluntarily mention her relationship to her parents, not in the current atmosphere. She's far too protective for that. I get the feeling that while she is still in contact with them, she also does the bare minimum - like sending flowers for the big dates and that's it. Which honestly is more than they deserve. So the only 'Tim and Vanessa meet' scenario I can picture at the moment is the accidental one. Be it an impromptu visit at Lucy's apartment, at the station, at the hospital… or by sheer coincidence.
I do think that Lucy would be overall wary of her mother. Considering how Vanessa's last visit went, she would be on edge the whole time. I don't know if Tim's divorce would be a point of contention : I feel like the age difference, his job and the fact that he was Lucy's TO would take precedence over that. Although I'm not ruling it out either. And I have no doubt either that Lucy would stand up for herself. She did it several times already after all. But that's also why I want Tim to support her here. Because it has to be tiresome for her to have to justify her choices and happiness over and over again, knowing full well that it's not going to change her parents' minds. As amazing as Jackson was for standing up to Vanessa, Lucy didn't see it. And neither did we. So it would be nice for her to see someone in her corner. Especially since up to this point, Tim has been playing the devil's advocate and has defended Vanessa's behavior several times.
I don't know if it can fit in S6, since there seems to be a lot of intense storylines already, but it could work for s7, yes.

I have so many feelings about the first Hunt and it’s aftermath from 2x08 & 09! Apologies for the word-vomit below this.
I never thought it would happen, but dare I say, Travis has become one of my favorite characters this season.
As an older sibling, I was right there with Travis these last two episodes. His guilt and grief in Storyteller hit very close to home for me and I just.
Right after the crash, everyone looked to Travis to take care of Javi, even when he was still trying to process the fact that he had just watched his father fall out of a fucking plane. He dug up his father’s rotting corpse in order to get a ring to help Javi grieve and remember their dad. He spent months walking 7 miles in every direction every day looking for Javi. And after all that, Javi still died. Not only did Travis lose his father, but now he’s lost his brother for the SECOND TIME. To make it worse, Javi was safe, he wasn’t picked! But then Travis decided to protect Natalie, and from the looks of it, he was ready to take her place; he threw himself in front of the door behind her and stood with a knife at his throat (for the second time oh my god these girls). I missed it before, but Travis looked to Javi and whispered his name after the Hunt went after Nat, he asked Javi to protect Natalie when he couldn’t. And doesn’t that make it so much worse? Up until then, Javi had been running away from the violence. Travis asked him to step up and take care of Natalie, someone they both grew to love. Javi became just like his big brother, and he died for it.
Side note: Travis is a better man than me because if that was my sister trust and believe I’d have done more than send them on a guilt trip, even if I was starving!! Not to soft quote Queen Ramonda here but HAS HE NOT GIVEN EVERYTHING?! His dad died while helping the girls put on their oxygen masks during the crash, Javi died so that the rest of them wouldn’t starve. His whole family died saving the Yellowjackets! Ben didn’t eat Jackie OR Javi and he’s still alive and kicking and burning down cabins, our girls SICK AND TWISTED (said with love). Even in the Donner Party, they made sure they ate in separate groups so that families would not have to eat each other or watch as their loved ones were eaten.
Anyway, I’ve seen a lot of people harping on Travis for telling Van that they should all be ashamed of what they did, and god it makes me so upset. Y’all can excuse hunting your friends and cannibalism but not a grieving teenage boy lashing out after the murder of his little brother??!! Like, the first thing Travis did when he saw his brother’s body was try to untie his hands because he’s not an animal he’s just a kid, and then cradled him like a baby, only to have his body taken from him moments later to be dismembered and butchered.
As the youngest of the survivors, Javi was someone who, by normal conventions, should have been protected by the rest of the group. Of course Travis needs them to be ashamed of what they did, he blames himself for Javi’s death just as much as he does then, if not more!! Travis was supposed to protect him and he failed him!!
I understand that Travis is not a fan favorite by a long shot and Van is one of the most popular characters in the show, which might be skewing the perception of this scene a bit, but I think the people who are dunking on Travis here are missing the point a little? Yes, Van gave him some brutal honesty and was well within her rights to do so. However!! Travis also gets to be pissed at the Yellowjackets. The fact is: they absolutely SHOULD be ashamed, but they’re not. They fully COULD HAVE saved Javi, but they didn’t. Javi was not the one who drew the card, but he died anyway. Why was Javi’s life worth less than Lottie’s, who might have died on her own? Because they liked her more? Because he was more expendable? No matter how much you justify it, Javi did not NEED to die. None of it was fair. That’s the point, that’s the tragedy of it all!
Lottie Matthews really dropped the thesis of the show: “Is there a difference?”
It doesn’t matter if there was some supernatural entity out there who “chose” Javi to die, it would have happened anyway. It’s much easier to stand by and watch a boy drown than to do the killing yourself. They were starving, he was there. Even if the Wilderness chose, the Yellowjackets chose, too.
Circling back a bit, I also want to talk about the difference between the two instances of cannibalism on this show: how they’re similar and different.
When Shauna and Travis discover their loved ones bodies (both frozen might I add), they assume very similar positions, kneeling by their heads and touching their faces. Both of their death’s were caused by the collective inaction of the rest of the group. The person who takes the first bite was the person who loved them most, thus giving permission to the others to eat and spurring on the feeding frenzy.
Jackie was an accident, Javi was on purpose. When Shauna found Jackie, she screamed and was in denial, trying to shake her awake. Travis was almost completely silent, only whispering “I’m sorry” and cradling Javi’s head in his lap. They held onto Jackie’s frozen corpse for months so Shauna could grieve her, but they took Javi away from Travis after what couldn’t have been more than a few minutes. They ate Jackie whole like vultures, but they butchered Javi like an animal. The process of eating Jackie took a long time, almost three months from her death to consumption. Hell, she was slow roasted. With Javi though, “it all happened so fast” he was dead, cleaned, and eaten all within a few hours.
Shauna ate Jackie’s ear first. Jackie was driven into the cold by Shauna’s words. Travis ate Javi’s heart first. Javi went after Natalie because Travis loved her and because he loved Travis.
I’ve seen people say that the progression to the Hunt was too sudden and a result of bad writing but I’m going to have to disagree! Just from the parallels between Jackie and Javi’s deaths alone you can tell these writers know their shit. The Hunt has been teased since Doomcoming back in S1, the bloodthirsty side to the Yellowjackets has long been set up (Not!Tai eating Jackie’s face, Misty pushing Crystal, Shauna beating up Lottie). All season, we have seen various characters talking about eating another person multiple times (Misty and Crystal with the bone broth, Gen and Melissa about Crystal’s body, Mari and Misty both threatening Coach Ben), so they’ve had cannibalism on the brain for a while before they decided to Hunt. I’d go so far as to say the first signs of the Hunt were back in 1x01 with the girls icing out Allie for the greater good so they could win nationals. Them shunning Jackie solidified that the Yellowjackets were more than comfortable singling out and dehumanising one of their own, so long as the rest of the group deemed it necessary.
Cannibalism also is probably one of those things that gets easier the more you do it? Like they definitely would have Hunted and eaten Travis during Doomcoming if they had already taken the first step into cannibalism before then. Once they ate Jackie, all bets were off. The Wilderness “refusing” to let Lottie die was just a convenient excuse, they were hurdling headfirst into hunting their friends for sport looooong before then.
All this to say the Season 2 finale destroyed me and these are only Some of my thoughts about it. I’m not even TOUCHING the Natalie stuff yet.

Lets talk about Appendix #7
I won't be the first (nor the last) to admit that I’ve only ever paid super close attention to the Russia scenes during my major s4 rewatches (like 4x total). Those just don’t tend to be the scenes I rewatch looking for Easter eggs as regularly as I do with others. Though, I can say confidently now that this will not be the case anymore.
As I’ve said recently, the scenes that come off as unnecessary filler, are likely the ones hiding something deeper underneath the surface. Otherwise, why put any time into scenes that have no importance, beyond just to fill the running time? Especially in s4 when the episodes were really long and they could have easily cut out scenes if they weren't that important to the overall plot.
The reason they do this is because they can rest comfortably knowing that a vast majority of the audience will overlook these scenes, even call them pointless and boring (and they can laugh knowing they couldn't be more wrong). A vast majority of fans felt that way about the Russia plot, but even the Cali plot had a decent amount of viewers saying they were worthless all season with no importance to the overall story. And we all know that wasn’t actually the case. And so why would that be any different for the Russia plot?
And this scene right here, which I completely forgot existed (so pardon me if someone has talked about this before, because I've never seen any discourse on it), I only just remembered existed because of the Piggyback script dropping for the Emmy's.
I just want to preface that I'm being so so serious right now when I say this scene is very incriminating for Mike. Even down to the way it ends. It’s bad.
And by bad I mean holy shit they are sick for potentially hiding the truth in plain sight.
For context, in this scene, Yuri represents Mike & let’s say Dmitri represents the skeptical majority, who have been confused by Mike’s behavior for the last two seasons.

But first I want to give a disclaimer that Yuri is not literally Mike, nor are ALL of Yuri’s scenes meant to be about Mike.
It just so happens that Mike has a unique trend of his POV being missing from the overarching narrative. And how they play with that sometimes, is by strategically displaying his POV through other characters.
You might think I'm crazy, but this has happened quite a bit. The most well recognized example of this would be with Hopper at the end of s3 with the letter.
A less well known example would be with Argyle in s4. Again not all the time, but there are a couple specific moments that come to mind, where it feels like they are hinting at Mike’s inner feelings, by having Argyle display things Mike cannot express to the audience yet.
I always thought it was weird they decided to put Mike and Argyle in almost identical hats in the airport scene. Though, it makes a lot more sense when you see Argyle call him a shitty knock off, only to watch the whole group walking through the airport, with Mike to the left of El and Argyle to the left of Will.
Mike may be standing beside El with them looking like a happy couple, but he’s actually distracted and hyperfocused on Will. And so how they reference that, is by placing Argyle standing close beside Will, sort of mirroring the blocking of Mike and El. In Argyle’s case, he is not putting on a fake smile, instead he looks almost emotionless about what's unfolding. The blocking there definitely feels intentional, as it could be the writers way of showing us where Mike's head is truly at, aka focused on Will.
The other major example I can think of (there's not too many from what I've seen, but these two definitely stand out) is at the end of s4 when the boys arrive at Nina to rescue El. We've talked about how the explosion behind Mike as he was looking between El and Will, is representative of the extreme mix of emotions he is feeling at that moment. But no one has ever talked about Argyle's reaction in that scene. Knowing what the explosion represents, I think we should consider what Argyle’s reaction to the explosion itself might represent as well.
First, Argyle interferes with the Milkvan reunion, standing in the frame behind Mike, with his hands on his head looking at the fire blazing with stress.
But it gets even more dramatic than that, when El and Will are hugging, that's when Argyle really starts freaking out, OH SHIT AW SHIT, pacing back and forth.
By doing stuff like this, they can hide hidden meanings. It also just makes it a whole lot easier to come up with ideas for scenes. Because when they have a big component that is underneath the surface, they can build anything around that, as opposed to coming up with a bunch of ideas fresh on the spot, without any reason for it.
Which is why, tbh whenever I hear someone say it's not that deep, when referring to basic filming techniques of playing with POV, I'm just sitting there thinking, do these people not know how much easier it is for artists, when it is that deep? It’s sooo much easier (and gratifying).
But back to this scene with Yuri and Dmitri.
Yuri seems to be doing a lot also while doing very little reminds me a lot of Mike's method of boyfriendism at the start of 4x02. He brings El flowers, he's got a whole inspired Cali fit, he's feening happiness the whole time, holding her hand and skating together. He's basically giving off this vibe that he's going above and beyond, when really, we know that despite all those little things, he's not doing the one thing El wants him to do, which is to say I love you.
This scene in the piggyback script initially stood out to me because of the word stalling. And this is because whenever I talk about Mike’s behavior in s3, but especially in s4, with him repeatedly putting off saying I love you to El numerous timed, I often use the word stalling to describe it.
In his letters, he avoids it. In the flowers, he avoids it on the note. When she confronts him during their fight, he deflects, and makes a point to struggle using the word care instead. Even when she's literally crying he still can't muster it. When she's getting taken by the cops, he still doesn't think to say it, even now when things are so bad and it might have given her at least some comfort. When they're separated Mike, gets reassurance from Will that he can just say it to her when they reunite, though Mike doesn't look too excited about saying it. Then not even a day later (during the Letter to Willy scene), Mike tells Will he didn't know what to say to El, even though we all know it only would have only required those 3 famous words... And then him and El are reuniting and he still doesn't say it. And then they're in surfer boy and they get interrupted, but tbh the lead up to it felt super disingenuous anyways, with him looking like he was about to say something out of obligation and not because he wanted to say it. And then the literal moment that she is choking, he stalls, until Will encourages him, and then even still then, they make a point to put dramatic beat right before, and only THEN is that when Mike finally says it.! (And all of that isn’t even including the stalling he does in s3).
Basically, Mike is the king of stalling, but especially in s4 and the Piggyback specifically, bc stalling is what has led to this grand moment of Mike quite literally having no option to stall anymore.
And so stalling being used in this conversation with Yuri and Dmitri instantly peaked my interest. I barely remembered the scene from the show and yet the instant I did, I just knew what was about to go down was something related to Mike, that we wouldn't otherwise get insight on bc we don't have his POV right now.
In contrast to the episode, the script has Yuri admitting to stalling. He doesn't seem to have remorse about it at first, he actually seems kind of like he's willing to admit it because it's the truth. Then we get a Ronald Reagan mention from Yuri, followed by him spitting with disgust, which was not included in the final cut... still sort of an off moment, considering the very few Reagan mentions we've gotten in the series, it's been through the presidential campaign sign in front of the Wheeler's house in s2 most.
But now, this is where it starts to get a little scary in terms of what Mike could be thinking. I don't know how I feel about it because it's a scary concept.
You saw it with your own eyes. You know it to be true. And yet you continue to play tricks.
This could mean one of two things, or maybe even a mix of both...
It could mean that Mike knows El doesn't need him despite her begging for him to say the words I love you (he saw it with his own eyes?), but he isn't willing to accept it. He knows his feelings deep down will never change (he doesn’t love El), making his and El's separation inevitable (also reminds me of the suicide mission comment from Yuri...). He is fixated on this idea of her needing him and if not, losing her all together, instead of what El was actually upset about, which was not being loved.
Or it could (also) mean Mike understood Will in the van. He saw it with his own eyes aka the painting, he knew it was apparently for a girl Will liked, but it ended up actually being for him. And he seemed very happy about this as a revelation, up until Will mentioned it was actually from El. Not only that, but what followed was Will monologuing about feelings that matched closer to what Mike and Will had went through over the past year, not him and El. And so Mike realizes in this moment that Will does return his feelings for him, but he isn't willing to confront it aka he chooses to play tricks instead. He saw Will crying, yet he didn't confront it nor comfort him, and I think it’s at the very least bc Will crying that hard would have definitely caused Mike to start crying himself.
I also want to add that I think supports this sort of unraveling of Mike having different assumptions about the painting at different times. Because it appears in the hospital scene with Max, based on the blocking of Will, Mike, and El according to the painting on the wall in the background, that before this moment, he may very well have assumed the painting was from Will. But upon finding out El saving Max was a miracle, the painting shifts and is suddenly behind El.
I think that’s the main issue with deciding definitely one way or another how Mike interprets what’s going down. Because arguably, his feelings about the situation could actually be evolving based on the events around him unfolding.
Now let’s move on to the Peanut Butter Smuggler line. They use this to sort of make a reference to a past version of Yuri who was revered, and irrefutably considered a hero by many’ aka the mainstream ‘I miss s1-2 Mike Wheeler’ core.
And last but definitely, almost certainly not least, they show us Yuri reaching in his coat's inner chest pocket, to pull out the reason for the issue that was causing the stalling…
And that in the context of lettergate and even pocketgate, is pretty insane.
I also noticed a lot of scenes end with 'as...' in the scripts, as it's sort of their way to emulate the smooth transitions between scenes in words. While the scene directly after this is of Max and Lucas, the scene directly after that is Mike and El in Surfer Boy, right before they eat the pineapple pizza.
'Uncertain as...' Uncertain as who?!?!?! Max uncertain about the plan she herself insisted they do? Perhaps. Or what about Mike who is very much uncertain in all of his stalling glory, not even two scenes later, after they literally just acknowledged Yuri's stalling…
A lot of the pieces are there for this to play out, so I don't really think it's a reach anymore when you really start to add it all up.
Letter to Willy is a major proof that this is important. Although Mike ‘We’ve had it this whole time’ Wheeler was referring to a pen in that moment, the pen also came from secret hero agent man’s pocket, with the number (answer) being hidden inside, and with Mike’s shirt being off in that scene, though still in the frame in the right corner.
And then there’s the whole transition from Mike in Hawkins to the mailmain in Lenora in 4x01, DONT you worry Mrs Byers, it’s coming!!
If you want to know what I think personally. I don't know....
I do feel like what would make it super easy for everyone to figure out what's going on with Mike, is for us to finally read a letter from him, and with it ending with love Mike... Like it would just be that easy. Literally all of the contents could even be written off as a friend missing his friend platonically and really struggling bc he can't reach him, with him opening up about things that we already suspected, but that he hasn't said out loud. And then by simply ending it with love Mike, the case would be closed.
It would also perhaps explain Mike's inablity to write love to El in their letters. You’d think there had to have been something that made him overthink not doing that in the first place? And arguably, him having done it for Will when he tried to write a letter(s) to him, only to end it with love, followed by panicking and making the choice to never write Will a letter and instead focus on sending them to El (bc she’s his gf) it sort of starts to add up.
I also think I have a theory for when this letter will come into play in s5.
In the flashback of Suzie getting her computer taken by her dad, the last shot is of her night stand, which has a letter from Dustin, with a watch laying on top of it, also accompanied by an alarm clock that reads 5:02… I think it’s possible we could get lettergate being addressed as early as the second episode of s5. And with all the time/clock imagery surrounding it, there’s a good chance the cliffhanger of that episode could send us straight to the time jump…
Just a theory for now based on a lot of piling evidence. But it’s all very incriminating for Mike…

Daryl, Caryl, and the waterlilies
I've had a moment to ponder a lot about episode 3, the many Caryl references we got but there's one that stands out and while a lot of others have brought it up, my mind has it's own ramblings about the scene.
For those who haven't seen the episode yet, I'll summarize quickly. Daryl finds Isabelle staring at a painting of waterlilies in the night club, telling him how she used to go to the museum every weekend to look at them as a form of mental health.

After staring at the painting for a beat Daryl smiles and says "Kinda reminds me of home." His eyes stay glued to the canvas even after Isabelle faces him momentarily, and only moves when Fallou whistles to call them over. But once again before leaving he turns towards the painting as the camera angle closes in on his captivated gaze.
There are a multitude of things to unravel but Daryl's choice of words is intentional and clear. HOME. He wants to go home. Earlier he commented about the place he grew up, never referring to it as his home so we know he wasn't referring to his childhood & they have never stayed in one place long enough on TWD to take that designation. So what could he be talking about if isn't a physical place?
As many other Carylers have pointed out, there are many moments through out Caryl's TWD history centered around the water/flowers. Going back all the way to season 2 at the Farm during the search for Sophia, Daryl's camp in season 9, and the pond they sat by in the season 11 series finale.

In this instance as well as to Daryl, home isn't a place. It is a person. She has been the consistent beat through his life and an integral fixture in every situation Daryl has been by/near the water or waterlilies. There is no trying to hide it anymore, no leaving it ambiguous to possibly mean something else to different people.
(Not to mention the way Daryl stared at the painting is mirror in every one of the other previous scenes in how he stared at Carol.)7
I think we're going to get more compounding evidence which will reach a breaking point in the next episode or so where it's stated outloud (for those who need it) clear as day what we all already know; Daryl misses Carol. He loves Carol. He is longing for Carol.

EDIT: I've edited some points because I've watched the trailer more and understand things a bit better! So reread if you want!
So loved the trailer but I don't really feel like doing an in-depth analysis like I did for the teaser, so I'll just point out some things that I thought were interesting!
1. Stede is adorable and looks great in his outfits, I love his "I didn't dump him," and "we're on a break." I also love how it seems like people around Stede are teasing him about his rocky relationship. And on that note I'm SO EXCITED to see how Stede tells the crew (or maybe just Olu?) about what happened on the beach!
2. Ed is equally adorable and I love the hint that he'll be a total bitch to Stede for a while lol
3. Izzy is missing half his left leg! Huh. I know people speculated it but it's cool to have confirmation! The missing toe must have gotten infected. I wonder if that will play a part in Izzy realizing he made a mistake in bringing Blackbeard back.
4. Stede saying he's been a failure his whole life really hurts my heart
5. There's a scene of Stede in his Chinese garb looking horrified at what the Revenge looks like. This must be after the storm damaged it. Poor guy
6. Izzy and Stede training together! Love to see it. I'm excited to maybe have a reason to like Izzy more and see Stede become better at... well a lot of things lol
7. STEDE EARRING STEDE EARRING I wonder who pierces his ear, I hope they show it haha
8. Ed standing on the rocks with what people have speculated to be Hornigold, or his ghost, I wonder what the context of that scene is
9. There's the bunny from the poster! (Note Ed says "new best friend," hinting Stede isn't his bestie anymore aw). I wonder if this is from Ed's island days or maybe when he's trying to figure himself out again (aka the trying something new scene?)
10. What kind of wound does stede have on his shoulder when he's tied to the mast? Doesn't seem to be a stab wound, it's more of a hole. Bullet perhaps? Hot cigar burnt into his skin?
11. Seems like the "torture" scene may be comical after all? It looks like Jim is smiling?
12. In the scene where they're on the "torture" boat, seems like before the "torture" happens, Stede is smiling! Good to see him happy for a moment, since pretty much every other scene he hasn't smiled lol
13. Who is this weird-nosed character? Is he the villain of the season? Seems like he's leading the Navy officers, so probably.
14. WEE JOHN LOOKS SO GOOD IN DRAG OMG WHAT A QUEEN
15. Jim and Olu are together again awwww
16. Why is Stede running along the shore? Is he running to someone? Ed perhaps?
17. Yeah that headbutt from Ed was definitely on purpose 😂 But we love to see bedside vigil worried Stede! Is this where they officially reunite?
18. LOOK AT SWEDE THERE HE ISSS BABYGIRLL (so is he one of Jackie's husband's now?? I'm excited to see the story of how he ended up working at Jackie's lol) Also his little "are you poor now?" is so funny
19. I love how Ed sputters after taking a puff of the joint or cigar or whatever it is, shows that he's not used to it lol
20. The Ed crying scene probably happens around the same time that the painted cake topper scene does, since we see the bride topper in the right corner. Also I really want Stede to find the cake toppers (or at least Ed's if Ed throws the groom overboard)
21. When Ed says "no more booze, no more drugs, and no more" the "Stede" at the end is clearly not from that same line. So I wonder what he actually says at the end?
22. What are Stede and crew escaping from during the crossbow scene? I've watched the trailer again and I think they're firing the crossbow for the zip line rope! And they're escaping from a ship to the Revenge. I hope Stede gets to shoot the crossbow!
23. The "you two know each other?" scene must come around the same time that Stede reunites with Ed after Ed is hurt, since Ed has the same split lip. Or maybe the headbutt scene comes after that? I'm not sure. I would bet that the headbutt scene is first.
24. Why are Jim and Olu and that other person warding off vampires lol
25. We finally see a glimpse of Lucius!! In the scene where he and Frenchie are under a log. He has a beard now! We definitely know it's him becouse of the wooden finger. Yay the boy is back! Can't wait to see how he survived and the Lucius x Black Pete reunion!!
Anyways that's all, I'm even more excited for the new season now and I hope we get a clip or two or more photos! But we only have 3 weeks left guys hang in there!!!

“Sorry! Just a second!”
Quinn pulled the sheet mask off of her face and toddled towards the door, careful not to smudge the polish that was still drying on her fingers and toes as she dabbed the excess serum into her skin. She’d started her spa night while she was waiting for her takeout and thought she’d have enough time to finish her routine. Clearly her delivery driver was running ahead of schedule.
“Almost there,” Quinn shouted over top of the incessant ringing of the doorbell. “Hello,” she said as she opened the door. “How are —“
“Delivery for a Quinn?” Harry said, squinting at the receipt stapled to the bag.
“What are you doing here?” Quinn asked, stunned. “You’re not supposed to be home until tomorrow.”
“Oh, well I can leave and take this with me,” Harry said, turning around on the stoop.
“Don’t you dare!” Quinn yelled as she threw her arms around him, feeling his body shake with laughter.
“Did you miss me or something?”
“I think you know the answer to that.”
“Well, let me get a proper hello in then,” Harry replied, setting the takeout and his carry-on on the front steps before enveloping Quinn in a tight embrace and kissing her on the lips.
Quinn tried and failed, to keep the tears from spilling over as she returned the kiss. “What happened to LA? I thought you had to wrap things up?”
“Finished ahead of schedule so that I could get home to you.”
“Harry,” she said, sniffing.
“I know,” he said, pulling her close. “I know.”
As incredible as the past six months had been for the both of them, it hadn’t been an easy ride.
After Quinn packed up her life in New York City, she’d had a few weeks to get acclimated to her new home in London with Harry – and to see him sell out Wembley – but soon after he’d packed his suitcase and headed off to tour the world. Harry touring wasn’t anything new, but it was difficult for Quinn this time around, being in a new city, with her only tether gone. She’d made the most of it, thankful that Harry’s circle had welcomed her with open arms and that her own family and friends had made trips to visit throughout the summer. The change in circumstances hadn’t really hit Quinn until Harry’s New York residency began in August though.
He was in her city, without her, and the longing she felt was indescribable, a feeling that only intensified when the new season of SNL began, and she realized that she’d be able to watch it on the TV for the first time in years.
Harry had his own struggles too. As much as he loved working and staying busy, being on the road could be grueling and lonely, even when surrounded by friends. She could see the toll it was taking during their late night FaceTime calls, and it was especially heartbreaking to be apart from him during the highs and lows. But after months of counting down he was finally home.
“Maybe we should go inside?” Harry mumbled into Quinn’s hair. “It’s a little cold out here.”
“I don’t think I ordered enough for two,” Quinn said, frowning at the plastic bag as she picked it up.
“It’s fine, we’ll share.” Harry shook off his coat as he followed Quinn into the entryway. He took in the scene before him. “You’ve really turned this place around,” he said with a mix of happiness and awe.
“I know you said to make myself at home,” Quinn called from the kitchen. “I might have gone a little overboard.”
“No, it’s perfect,” Harry sighed.
He’d spent years trying to cultivate the perfect sanctuary in London, but even with all of the hoops he’d gone through to make it his, it had always felt like something was missing. As if one more coat of paint or piece of artwork or furniture would make it right. But in his absence, Quinn had managed to solve it.
Framed photos had joined the paintings on the walls, the snapshots a mix of photos of the two of them, with some of his own family and friends in the mix. Shelves had been filled with Quinn’s own books and trinkets, as well as items of his own that had been living in storage for the past five years. Blankets he’d first seen in her apartment were thrown on the couch beside his favorite pillows, as if they’d been meant to be there all along. This – a home with the woman he loved – was all he had ever dreamed of. And now it was his.
“What’s wrong?” Quinn asked, poking her head out from the kitchen as Harry wiped away the few tears that had escaped.
“Nothing,” he said quickly. “Just happy to be back home with you.”
Quinn smiled. “I know how you feel. Now go get comfy while I finish getting dinner ready.”
Harry retreated upstairs to shower, and when emerged, skin damp and clean, hair pulled back in his favorite clip, he found Quinn placing plates on the coffee table.
“What’s on the menu tonight?” he asked as he flopped onto the sofa.
“You didn’t look at the bag?”
“Food wasn’t the first thing on my mind, love.”
Quinn flushed. “Well, I ordered some Chinese tonight, and we are supplementing it with leftover Indian from the other night and some Mediterranean apps I picked up yesterday.”
“Wonderful,” Harry said, piling rice and vegetables onto his plate. “Want to watch Housewives?”
Quinn nodded and clicked the TV on, but the show was soon forgotten as she and Harry got lost in conversation. She’d already heard almost every story he told her, and he was well aware of all of her new coworkers, but there was something different about hearing the story around bites of food, sitting next to each other, rather than listening to it through a tinny phone speaker. She’d felt his absence so acutely, but didn’t realize how much she’d missed him until this moment. As he was telling her about a prank Pauli had pulled on him, she suddenly reached out and grabbed his free hand, squeezing tightly. Harry kept talking, but didn’t hesitate to return the gesture.
When the food was finished and dishes relegated to the sink to be washed tomorrow, they curled up on the sofa, conversation continuing until Harry started to yawn. Quinn initially ignored it, but when it happened, again, again, and again, she couldn’t.
“I think we should head upstairs, Harry,” she said gently, scratching the base of his skull. “You’ve had a long day. Hell, you’ve had a long year.”
Harry grinned as he shook his head, fighting another yawn. “I’m fine,” he said. He was like the toddler Quinn used to babysit, refusing to sleep for fear of missing something.
“We’re going to have three weeks like this,” Quinn said. “We’ve got plenty of time to catch up. You are allowed to sleep.” She stood up and reached for his hands. “Bed. Now.”
“I’m not one to argue so whatever you say,” Harry said with a sleepy grin, allowing himself to be pulled up. He followed Quinn upstairs quickly brushing his teeth before collapsing onto the bed.
When Quinn had finished her skincare routine, she joined him under the covers and he pulled her close so that their legs were intertwined and they were nose to nose.
“Goodnight,” Quinn whispered as Harry closed his eyes.
“Love you,” he murmured before sleep overtook him.

Quinn stirred as the faintest glimpse of morning light filtered between the new curtains she’d hung in their bedroom. It was far too early to be awake, but she reached for her phone and squinted to read the time. It would be a few hours before they’d even need to think about getting up and she placed it back on the nightstand before getting comfortable again. As she relaxed against the pillows, she felt Harry, hot and hard against the small of her back, still asleep. She bit her lip and tried to focus on anything other than the feeling of Harry beside her.
When she’d envisioned their reunion over the months, she hadn’t necessarily expected sex to be the main event, but she had planned on it happening at some point. Preferably sooner rather than later, based on what she was feeling at the moment. She shifted again, trying to ignore the ache between her thighs when she felt Harry stir beside her.
“What’s wrong?” he mumbled, voice thick with sleep.
“Nothing,” Quinn murmured.
“I didn’t mean to wake you,” Harry said slowly, realizing what had happened below his waist. “Just ignore it and it will go away.”
“We don’t need to do that.”
“Oh?” Harry opened one eye. “Tell me more.”
“Well to start we could do this,” Quinn whispered as she brought her lips against Harry’s throat, running her teeth against the sensitive skin, feeling him shiver at the sensation.
“What else?” he asked, swallowing thickly.
“Maybe a little of this.” Quinn continued to move her lips along Harry’s throat, making her way up to his face, relishing the way his stubble burned against her skin. While her mouth moved against his face, she brought her hand to rest on top of the bulge in his shorts, feeling his cock straining against the thin material. She gently stroked him. “Some of this too.” She could just make out the soft sound of Harry whining as she continued to work him with her fingers. Quinn turned her head so her lips could find Harry’s. “It’s been a while,” she whispered against them as his hips bucked into her hand. “Too long in fact.”
“Too long,” he stammered, too overwhelmed to say much else. They lay there Harry breathing heavily as Quinn repeated the pattern she knew would bring him to the edge, until he suddenly halted her hand.

“This?” Harry asked, sliding his hands inside the waistband of her underwear, easily finding her clit.
“Uh huh,” Quinn sighed, shifting to provide a better angle for him, and sharply exhaling when his fingers found the exact spot she was yearning for him to reach. “Right there baby.” She held onto his wrist to keep him in the spot she needed. She felt herself grow wetter with each pass of his fingers, until she stopped him.
“Together,” she mumbled.
“Yeah?”
She nodded, and Harry paused what he was doing to pull his briefs down his legs as Quinn tossed her own bottoms to the side. Free from obstruction, Harry rolled onto his side, wrapped his arm around Quinn and pulled her close. As their pelvises aligned, Quinn opened her legs to allow Harry to fit between them. They were nose to nose, chest to chest, the closest they had physically been in a long time, but Quinn still needed him closer. The lazy morning sex that was few and far between where the only goal was to feel each other in the present moment. But this was different. It was far and away the most intense sex she’d ever had and she could feel everything. Every breath, every movement, every emotion. It was exhilarating.
The room was silent save for the sound of skin moving against skin and the pants, grunts, and moans that came from both of them, but it was the most connected she’d ever felt with Harry. Seconds later she felt him spill over inside of her just as the wave of her own orgasm washed over her.
“I thought it would be different this time,” Harry said moments later, speaking into Quinn’s shoulder when he’d finally slowed his breathing.
“What are you talking about?” Quinn asked as she circled her nails around a freckle on his back.
“Tour. Being away from you.”
“Oh?”
“I thought it would be easier. Knowing I didn’t have to worry about you. Knowing that you’d still be there, even when I was gone too long.”
“But it wasn’t?”
“No. It was even harder, knowing that I was missing this. You here, in my bed, my kitchen. On the sofa, walking up the driveway. It felt like I had something to look forward to when I came home for the first time in forever. I was just counting down the days.”
Quinn felt pride swell in her chest knowing she was the one he was longing for, but she dismissed Harry’s words. “You better be careful, your mother and Gemma wouldn’t want to hear that.”
Harry grazed his teeth against Quinn’s bare skin and she giggled at the ticklish sensation. “Don’t worry. They know you’re my best girl,” he whispered against her skin.

While Harry and Quinn’s holiday festivities quite literally started out with a bang, things slowed dramatically in the following days.
It started with a single sneeze, then another, and another. The scratchy throat and fatigue soon followed. After fighting his own battle in the weeks prior, Harry knew what was coming and delicately tried to steer Quinn towards a doctor’s visit and rest, but she stubbornly refused, attributing her symptoms to a busy work schedule and a dust allergy. But when the fever arrived on the third day, she couldn’t deny it any longer.
“Harry,” she croaked from where she was wrapped in blankets in bed. “I think I’m sick.”
“You don’t say,” he said sarcastically as he brought her some tea. “I thought it was stress and allergies.”
“You can’t be mean to me when I’m sick,” she pouted. “I was nice to you.”
“Yes, you were, love,” he sighed, smoothing back her hair. “Now drink this and try to get some rest.”
Quinn spent the next week drifting in and out of sleep migrating from the bedroom to the couch whenever she had the energy. Harry was a conscientious caregiver, cooking whatever she was in the mood for, providing a constant supply of hot beverages and medications, and staying as close as he could. She felt a slight improvement on Christmas Eve but she and Harry both agreed it was better to skip the large gathering and play it safe, settling for FaceTime calls instead. It was more of the same on Christmas, though Anne and Gemma and few others found time to pop over for a quick visit in the stretch between Christmas and New Year’s, swapping gifts and baked goods.
As New Year’s Eve approached, Harry could tell Quinn still wasn’t back to normal, even though she was trying to make it seem like she was.
“Why don’t we stay in for New Year’s Eve,” he gently suggested that morning.
“No! We already have plans and you were so excited to see everyone.”
“I can see them later. I have plenty of time before I have to head out again.” Harry looked at her pleadingly. “You know you need the rest and I was honestly looking forward to a night in.”
“After spending how many ‘nights in’ with me this past week?” Quinn asked, before a coughing fit took over. Harry raised his eyebrows in a “told-you-so” gesture. “Fine,” Quinn acquiesced. “We’ll have another night in.”
They ordered takeout and cozied up in front of the TV pausing their movie marathon just before midnight to watch London ring in the new year. “I think this is the first time you’re my New Year’s kiss,” Harry said thoughtfully, as he pecked Quinn on the lips. “And I sure hope it’s not the last.”
“Me too, H,” Quinn said, kissing him back. Harry turned off the television and reached for Quinn’s hand to lead her upstairs. “What’s your resolution going to be?” she asked as they climbed the stairs.
“I can’t tell you that or else it won’t come true.”
“Harry, it’s a resolution, not a birthday wish.”
“Still, I don’t want to take any chances.”
Quinn rolled her eyes. “Well, since I don’t believe in that entirely made up rule, I’ll tell you mine. I want to try to spend less time on my phone, commit to cooking more, try to make time for myself every day. Oh! And candy. I might try to cut back on the candy.”
“That is an ambitious list.”
“You don’t think I can do it?”
“I never said that. I know you’ll accomplish anything you put your mind to.”
“I’ve trained you so well,” Quinn grinned.
They climbed into bed, setting their alarms and waking to watch the ball drop in New York City, what Quinn said was the official start of 2023.
“Happy New Year, H,” Quinn said, sleepily, curling back into Harry’s side.

“You could help me, you know,” Quinn said, glancing over her shoulder at Harry. “Leaving your girlfriend to do all of the heavy lifting isn’t the best look.”
“I’m supervising,” Harry called from the kitchen as he poured two cups of coffee.
“Uh huh, sure,” Quinn shot back, sorting through the plastic cartons and tissue paper that housed the ornaments and other decorations the eleven months of the year they weren’t on the tree. “What should I start with?”
“The porcelain ones in the front,” Harry answered, handing her a large cup of coffee. “It’s probably best to wrap them first so they don’t get broken.”
When they’d woken up after their New Year’s celebration, Harry had informed Quinn that he was a staunch believer in the tree coming down on the first day of the year, a way of starting fresh. So after a quick breakfast, Quinn got to work, pulling baubles off of the tree, securely wrapping them, and depositing them back in the large Rubbermaid container that would soon be stowed away until the next year. Deconstructing the tree was surprisingly more fun than setting it up. Ahead of the holidays, Quinn had rushed through the activity, just trying to get everything in its place ahead of Harry’s arrival home. But with Harry it was more of an event. He had stories to tell about each ornament and memories to share about the Christmases of his youth. By the end of his story about how his childhood dog ate an entire ham one Christmas, Quinn’s face hurt from smiling and laughing so much.
With nearly two boxes full, Quinn started to pull the lights and tinsel off of the tree when something caught her eye. “Harry!” she cried. “We forgot a present!” There was one solitary, medium size box sitting in the corner on the backside of the tree. “I hope it’s not one for your cousins. We’re not going to see them for months.”
“Oh, that’s a shame. Check the label. Maybe it’s a different gift.”
Quinn picked up the box and turned it around to read the gift tag. She looked up at Harry. “It’s for me,” she said slowly. “From you.”
“Hmm, really?”
“Yes, really.”
“Maybe you should open it.” Harry looked at her over the rim of his coffee mug.
“Harry–”
“What? You don’t want it? I’ll take it back then.” He stepped around the containers to grab the package from Quinn’s hands but she yanked it back before he got his hands on it.
“I didn’t say I didn’t want it.”
“OK, then. Open it.”
She looked at Harry. Outwardly, he was just the same as ever – eyes sparkling, fringe flopping out of his claw clip. Dimples popping proudly on his face, nails chipped from where he picked his nail polish off. But there was just the slightest thing that was amiss. His eyes wouldn’t focus on her, instead almost imperceptibly darting between Quinn and the box in her hands. His fingers, which had been occupied by holding his mug, were suddenly fidgeting with a hangnail Quinn hadn’t noticed before. Was she not supposed to have seen this present?
“OK…” she said slowly. She carefully slid her finger under the loose edge of the wrapping paper, tearing it cleanly off to reveal a plain and sturdy cardboard box underneath. “Is this the puppy I asked for?” she joked, trying to ease some of the tension that had suddenly filled the room.
Harry offered a small laugh that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “How did you know?”
“Intuition.”
“Always were the brains of the operation, weren’t you?”
“Something like that.” Quinn pulled up the flap of the box to reveal a much smaller velvet box nestled inside. She felt fluttery all over, and couldn’t tell if it was from panic or elation. “Harry,” she said shakily. “What–?” She was at a loss for words.
“Just open it and then we’ll talk, yeah?”
She looked up, and found him staring at her, equally jittery. Quinn nodded, and plucked what could only be a jewelry box out of the larger vessel. She flipped the top open to find a cheap ring, a discount store trinket you’d give to a child playing dress up. She’d never thought of herself as a someone who’d need the biggest and best ring to convince her to say yes to spending the rest of her life with someone she loved, but she was surprised that Harry, as thoughtful and over the top as he could be, would present her with this.
“I love it,” she said, drumming up what she thought was an appropriate level of enthusiasm. “Thank you, baby.”
Harry closed the last bit of distance between them and took Quinn’s hands in his own. She could feel the slightest tremble in them, which made her grasp them tighter. “You don’t have to pretend you love it,” he said with a gentle chuckle.
“No! I do love it. I’m just a little confused.”
“I know we’ve had our ups and downs but what we have is one of the longest relationships I’ve ever been in,” Harry started. “You’re here with me now and we’re together and we’ve had some conversations about…” he gestured vaguely. “...this and us. And…” He trailed off again, looking at a spot on the wall behind Quinn. “When I think about who I want as my co-pilot, my partner in crime, my best friend, it’s you. It’s only you.”
Quinn blinked hard, trying to fight the tears that were brimming.
“And unless I’ve really misread things, I think you feel the same way.” Quinn nodded, which Harry took as a sign to continue. “This isn’t a proposal,” Harry clarified. “I know you didn’t want one to come out of the blue, but this is me proposing that we think about it. Get engaged to be engaged, if you will. We still have time to figure it all out, but I want you to know what my intentions are. That I love you. And that I want to spend the rest of my life with you if you want the same.” Quinn stared at him. “OK, that was it,” he said laughing nervously.
Quinn stood up on her tiptoes and wrapped her arms around Harry’s shoulders. “Yes,” she whispered, pulling him as close to her as she possibly could. “The answer to it all is yes.”
Harry pulled away and tilted her head back so his lips could find hers. As he kissed her, Quinn lost all sense of herself and where she began and Harry ended. Her face was wet and she couldn’t tell if it was from her tears or Harry’s, but it didn’t matter, because they were together. And they would be. For forever. He was hers and she was his.
“So are you going to actually put a ring on it,��� she teased when they broke apart.
“Whatever you want,” Harry joked as he pulled the ring out of the box and slipped it over her knuckle. The bright blue gemstone twinkled in the light and Quinn laughed at how much it clashed with the other simple jewelry she wore. “Don’t worry,” Harry said, kissing her temple. “I’ll get you something nicer when it’s time.”
“I don’t know, I kind of like this,” Quinn murmured, placing her ringed hand on Harry’s chest.
“Whatever you want, love,” Harry said. “I’ll give you whatever you want.” He was quiet for a moment before he spoke again. “To spend another year with you,” he said. “That’s what my resolution is. And you’ve made it come true”
As the pair stood in the living room, amidst the boxes and clutter and partially packed up decorations, Quinn looked at Harry, the man she loved. “I have a feeling this will be our best year yet.”

Thank you for asking! Answers for this post and still taking asks if anyone else is interested!
3. What was their best canon look?
I'm actually quite tied between his Duelist Kingdom outfit (I love it so much I have my own version of it for myself, as just regular clothes) and his white suit from season five (is just so slick and professional). Obviously his upgraded dueling outfit in DSOD was awesome and extra, but I like to think more about what Kaiba wears day to day. The Duelist Kingdom outfit is the closest we see him get to being casual ever, and unless I'm mistaken, the first scene we see that outfit is when he's working on the Duel Disk prototype. It's the outfit he picked for fiddling with his tech in his own home, and that makes it feel more personal, in a sense. This is what he wore when he was alone and not necessarily trying to impress anybody, and we don't get to see that part of Kaiba too often. (And in my Rock Bottom series, this is the outfit I have him in from halfway in Season Zero up through the end of Season Two, so this one is almost def my fave based on that.)
7. What do you think they would appreciate as a gift?
I had to triple check this one because I kept getting it mixed up with 5 and I was like, "wait, I already have something written for this, don't I?" and the answer is true for both, actually.
The thing about Kaiba is, he can already have whatever he wants. That's the worst kind of person to buy a present for, because you think, "Well if he wanted this, he would have gotten it for himself already, yeah?" And that's not necessarily true with Kaiba. He doesn't make time to take care of himself or enjoy himself, so a gift geared toward that would be very appreciated from a loved one. So I think secretly planning a vacation for him (Mokuba or Ishizu) or custom handmade BEWD art of some kind (Ryou) would be really nice for him. In the past I've usually written Joey as giving him *ahem* certain sexual experiences *ahem* as a present because Joey doesn't pretend he can give Kaiba a good gift, but he does know that he can show him a good time.
Another thing that would be sweet and specifically thoughtful imo (and this feels like something Duke would do) would be to look at the years that he was either in the orphanage or with Gozaburo, track down the systems and game copies for the best games that came out during those years, and spend a few weekends with him playing the games he missed out on during the time that he most needed them. Make sure that time is blocked out on his schedule and just have fun.
In Power of Three, well before Ryou and Seto get together, Ryou gives him a Christmas card with a single serving of tea inside, and at the time he's Kaiba's first actual real authentic genuine sees-him-as-a-real-human-being, talks-literature-and-philosphy-with-him-over-coffee FRIEND, so he's just touched way more by it than Ryou realizes. The gift is part of Kaiba's new experience with genuine friendship. It's just a little thing, but coming from Ryou, it meant something.
I have actually spent a lot of time on this question before and written a few of those scenes. And that was a really long answer to two simple questions, sorry about that! 😅
For fun, I'm including a snippet from my old Euroshipping fic Tainted Love below, where Ryou gives Kaiba a handmade BEWD sculpture for Christmas, it elaborates on it being a good gift for him (besides the obvious reason).

"Go ahead, open it. But be careful: it's fragile."
Intrigued, Seto tugged away the ribbon, peeled back the wrapping paper, and removed the lid of the box. He lifted away the flat piece of styrofoam and lifted away a few layers of tissue paper—then stopped, eyes wide in genuine surprise. As carefully as he was capable of doing so, Seto extracted his gift from its nest of protective wrapping.
"Did you make this?" he asked, voice so quiet that Ryou could hardly hear him above the sound of the fire.
"Yes." Ryou swallowed nervously, then continued, because Seto's silence unnerved him, "I started working on it a while ago, and the first few attempts kinda sucked because I was out of practice. I got some higher quality paints to use on it too, and because I know an art major who owed me a favor, I was able to bake it in a proper kiln. I was afraid that it might not be ready in time—"
"It's beautiful."
"Thank you." Ryou'd never heard Seto so soft-spoken before. He'd heard him whisper, but that was different from this. Even after all the time they'd spent together, the brunette's current expression was one that Ryou'd never seen and he didn't know how to interpret it.
"It reminds me," Seto said slowly after a brief pause, "Of when Mokuba made the Blue-Eyes card for me when I was a kid."
Ryou perked up a little. He'd never heard this story before.
"We'd been here for less than a month, and I already hated it." He traced his index finger over the delicate details of glossy porcelain wings. "He made that card to encourage me, because we weren't allowed to see each other. That's how he saved me, and that was also the day I swore I would own a real Blue-Eyes White Dragon card, since that was my first one. I'm not the type to accumulate objects because of the sentimentality attributed to them, but... I still have it."
"It brings back good memories, I hope," Ryou murmured, tucking one arm under Kaiba's and giving it an affectionate squeeze.
"Indeed it does."
When Kaiba began to set aside the wrappings, Ryou released him and let Kaiba stand, standing up with him. Kaiba carefully set the hand-made, ten-inch painted sculpture of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon on the center of the inset shelf above the fireplace that served as a mantelpiece. It's mouth was open, each of the teeth pointed as it screeched at them, its wings spread behind it as it gripped the rocky crag that formed the base of the statuette. It's eyes caught the light with a brilliant sparkle.
"Are those... real sapphires?"
"I couldn't find or make a shade of blue that could do its eyes justice." Ryou ducked his head bashfully.
"You really shouldn't have—"
"Don't worry about how I got them," Ryou interrupted, trying to put Seto's mind at ease. "The only hard part was setting them in his eyes so that they didn't look out of place."

THOUGHTS WHILE WATCHING GILMORE GIRLS: APPLICATION ANXIETY (SEASON 3, EPISODE 3, PART 4)
I didn't think I'd be going into four chapters+ for this filler/completely lacking in boy drama episode, but here we are.

Shady Taylor Business as per uzh. He’s committed so many white collar crimes that he’s in over his head trying to keep track of them all. Does ayone else just think of Taylor as the Mayor? He’s technically “town selectman", which is a real thing, and after many years I've finally looked up what a selectman does. I won't bore you with the details, but somehow Taylor got put into a position of authority that involves a heavy responsibility for other people's money. I know we have seen the actual mayor of The Hollow before, but only twice so far, I think. Taylor is treading into the shark infested waters of airing private grievances with Luke Danes publicly, again. Has Taylor learned nothing from the last time he tried this stunt at the emergency meeting he called about Jess and his sidewalk drawing? He really loves poking that hornet's nest. It's not going to be pretty.

Taylor calls his malt shop a "necessary service", which immediately calls me back to our comedian friend who predicted Taylor would classify his malt shop as a "necessary service" in order to stay open during the pandemic. How was that guy so spot on about everything?

That's real slimy, Taylor. Taylor Doose is slime. And not the fun kind of slime, either. According to Slimy Doose, If a 3/4ths majority of the town decide Taylor should have that building then he gets that building. It's just that simple! Check the towns bylaws! Which were probably written by Taylor! Why does Taylor want to run Luke out of town so badly? His diner is literally the only attraction in town that keeps the town economy churning (well, not Rory and Lorelai's money, but everyone else's). Taylor spends 7 years trying to find the money to fix a small wooden bridge. Like Tumblr, behind the scenes, The Hollow is being held together with paperclips and fairy dust. If tourists ever find out that Luke's special coffee is nothing more than ordinary Folgers, it's all over.

Now things are real getting real loopy doopy as Taylor stands his ground that his proposed soda shop is even more necessary than a hospital. DId someone vote this guy in? According to Google, yes. A town selectman is an elected position. The people who voted for Taylor may even be voting in larger elections, which is a scary thought. Ya'll voted for this putz, you live with him.

The town decides they love their beloved coffee proprietor Luke so much that they refuse to side with him and don't give a flying cupcake if he gets screwed into next week. If this were my unrated Gilmore Girls spinoff, The Hollow, which explores the gritty realism of small tourist town life, the Malt shop goes under in a few years because the economies of these towns are very shaky. Someone is going to turn around and Eminent Domain Taylor's ass and bulldoze his businesses to build luxury townhomes.

Even after what she just did, you know she’s going to shamelessly march right over to the diner where she won’t pay him for her food and coffee. I saw Lane unaccompained at the meeting, and started thinking since Mrs Kim apparently lets Lane go to town meetings unsupervised, they're a perfect opportunity for her to get out from the watchful eye of her mother and get up to some teenage rebellion/shenanigans. I still say she should have hooked up with Jess to give her mother a coronary.

I saw these oven mitts on Amazon yesterday and thought of Lindsey Lister. Whenever she's cooking one of Dean's meatloaves, she's quietly side eyeing the box of rat poison under the sink. Rory is mildly irritated because his question is "blunt and out of nowhere." and a discussion About Our Future is underway.
I'm going to keep a scoring system for this discussion: +1 point to Rory because Dean's question was really "out of nowhere" and dropped on suddenly her late at night. +1 point to Dean because his question wasn't totally unreasonable. Minus 1 point for Dean because Rory hasn't even been accepted to Harvard, no less any college, yet. + half point for Dean doing the bare minimum and believing in the idea that Rory will get into Harvard later. Minus 1 point for Dean because even if she did get into college she isn't going to start for another year, so he could have waited like, at least another 6 months before it would matter. Minus 1 point for Dean because there's no guarantee they will even be together a year from now (and they won't be).
Minus 1 point for Rory even entertaining the silly notion that she could have a "Weekends only" relationship with Dean when he is a controlling maniac who tracks her schedule and gets angry if she does not spend every minute of her free time with him. MInus 1 point for Rory engaging in more "I promise I will spend every spare minute of every day that I'm not studying with you" and "we can talk on the phone constantly during the week" negotiations. Enough with the negotiations!! Minus a kajillion points for Dean just because he's rotten hamburger meat. What is he going to do Monday-Friday after he graduates hgh school, without Rory to kick around like his personal hacky sack? "Christianne Amanpour spends of a third of her life in foxholes in third world countries! She was on C-Span last week getting an award! And she has a family!" Girl?! Rory Gilmore is comparing her life to that of an award winning, world renowned field journalist, someone who travels the world and risks her life on a regular basis, to her life as a boring high school student dating another boring high school student, some illiterate 17 year old softball playing clown from Stars Hollow Connecticut whose own mother is still trying to abandon him at a gas station, hoping that a pack of wild dogs will find and adopt him as one of their own instead. If Christianne Amanpour can survive being blown up in a war torn country and go home to her husband and family at the end of the day, then surely Dean Forrester and Rory Gilmore can make it work. I wish we got to see more of little Helaena (Evie Allen)
We should've seen more of the young Targtowers and Baela, Rhaena, Jace and Luke.
I feel like episodes 6 and 7 was not enough to set up a foundation for them. We needed at least one more episode before the events in High Tide to just get a feel of how the children interact with one another and their parents, and what effect that will have on their future relationships.
Scenes of Viserys with one of Alicent's kids would've been nice, especially Aegon, this son he'd always been waiting for. Not to mention Daemon. We deserve a follow up with how he treats his daughters differently because of his Targaryen supremacy views. Make the audience understand why Rhaena made the choices she made as an adult, if you know what I mean.
Helaena's dragon dreams should have been shown as something of concern not just to Alicent but maybe the Maesters as well. Maesters study everything from medicines to signs etc. This was a missed opportunity. Was no one really interested in diagnosing what Helaena's case is???
Baela and Rhaena should've been introduced to Viserys and the court like in the book, when they were children so that they set up their relationship with the Strong boys during their visit and the tensions with Aemond and Aegon. Have Helaena and the girls hang out and maybe their parents try to forbid that growing friendship.
Rhaena and Aemond acknowledging each other as dragonless Targaryens would've been so awkward but also heart wrenching. They are similar but are damned to be enemies because of their parents allegiances. Make this a symbol of the family divide, and Daemyra and Alicent's lack of interest in uniting.
An Aegon and Helaena scene would have been nice as well because they are the future King and Queen. Strained or lukewarm, we needed a feel of what their relationship as siblings was, so that when they're grown all the pieces fall in place in terms of interpretation.
Baela needs to try and punch Aegon at least once, although I know we already had a scene with them at the dinner table when they were older lol. These two will take each other down in Dragonstone. Their interaction is important!
In conclusion, yes, young Helaena needed more coverage and fleshing out. I doubt they can effectively achieve this in just under 8 episodes of screentime in season 2. What do I know, though? 🤷🏾‍♀️

Caved and decided to share my main OC in the camp camp art style and universe
Even though I made my character in the camp camp art style a while ago the person that inspired me to post it/expand on it was @brewingcoffi with their OC, go check out their blog their stuff is so cool!

But anyways this is basically my main OC Jessie during the epilogue of her story. Where everything is (kind of) resolved and shes just left to pick up the pieces of the aftermath.
After her whole fiasco shes sent to Juvie for 11 months and afterwards sentenced house arrest and court ordered therapy, and after a while of being at home for house arrest shes granted permission to go to a camp to help her get re socialized with other “normal” children. And thats how she ends up at Camp Camp, specifically during seasons 1-4 since I don’t know if I want to draw her what she’d look like during season 5.
With an eye missing and a whole lot of baggage, literally and figuratively, she signs up for writing camp.
And she ends up having a great time! Not at the star at first cuz shes a little emo, but she starts making friends with the other campers, specifically Harrison. Shes one of the most troublesome camper besides Max but shes not seen as such by anyone other than Max because she inherited her father’s master manipulation skills.
Like father like daughter.
She has a stuffed bear similar to Mr honeynuts (Max’s bear) but it doesn’t hold the same weight since its really just a placeholder for another plush she had. Plus she has a pet emotional support raccoon that she successfully was able to take with her.
Her relationship with the other campers and counselors is how I rank it down here:
1. Harrison
Harrison is her tent-mate and her best friend at camp, basically like a brother to her, twin brother if you will since they found out they were born on the same day. Shes basically his number one supporter in magic and he frequently reads her stories and gives feedback.
2. David
She participates on the activity of torturing him with the other campers but she secretly sees him as a father figure, and hes the first one she goes to in the middle of the night when she cant sleep due to night terrors, and makes him make her a midnight snack.
3. Dolph
As an artist to another artist, they love each other’s company, Jess likes to draw too but more in a doodle kind of way and not of still life or arts and crafts kind of way. She likes watching Dolph paint in a way to call her down, and Dolph likes asking her if he could paint a scene from her stories.
4. Ered
Like everyone, she thinks Ered is cool, and admires Ered and even has a crush on her. WHICH IS BAD BY THE WAY! Cuz she has SEVERE mommy and daddy issues and anyone either older, cooler, maturer, and or smarter than her she will probably have a crush on them. But OTHER than that, they have a nice friendship where Jess asks Ered to teach her tricks on the skateboard, it does not usually go well.
(Oh and fun fact I actually met Ered’s voice actor and even got a signature from her at a con I worked at, she was so nice and shes just a really cool person)
5. Nerris
Jess has played DND before which leaves Nerris to frequently ask her to play with them, and sometimes Nerris would ask for story telling advice for future campaigns.
6. Preston
Jess’s mom and dad were both actors so she grew up having love for the industry, back when she still looked up to them. She even wanted to be an actor briefly when she was six but she grew out of it. Which leads Preston to cast her first in his plays since shes
“one of the only amateurs at this camp with an ounce of talent in her bones” -Preston
Although shes absolutely horrible at singing and pretty un-enthusiastic about acting. Not to mention she thinks Preston’s scripts are awful and once proposed to write on for him, he didn’t talk to her for four weeks in spite.
7. Neil
Her best friend outside of camp is literally THE BIGGEST NERD IN EXISTENCE TO THE POINT HES CONSIDERED A PRODIGY, which leads to her having a soft spot for nerds such as Neil.
And with what we are shown in season 3 episode 6, he falls easily for girls who know basic science. Which with Neil being the socially awkward person he is, sometimes he unintentionally makes her uncomfortable. Plus not to mention she enjoys Harrison fucking with him with magic, she finds it incredibly funny to the point its a little mean spirited. Other than all that other stuff she sometimes hangs out with him while Nikki and Max are doing their own things as she watches him do whatever science thing he happens to be doing.
8. Nikki
They don’t interact much, but Jess enjoys hanging out with her from time to time, and Nikki is the only other person Tim (Jess’s raccoon) likes.
9. Gwen
Her least favorite counselor but thats not saying much since theres only two of them. She still enjoys Gwen’s company and their relationship increases over the course of the summer, where Gwen helps Jess with her issues and complicated feelings towards her mother.
10. Space kid
She thinks hes weird, treats him like everyone else does unfortunately. Shes not really better than the others.
11. Max
Max doesn’t like her for most of the summer, because hes challenged for the title of being the biggest bastard at camp. Plus whenever she does said trouble, she gets away with it most of the time unless she’s cornered where she resorts to blaming it all on Max when he didn’t do shit for a change, and she is believed because shes seen as the ✨quiet sweet troubled girl✨ in David’s eyes and Max is Max.
They do end up having a partners in crime dynamic, specifically after parents day when he sees only her best friend came even its a PARENTS day. Which makes their dynamic more like a big sister and little brother, in the way ACTUAL siblings act.
12. Nerf
Hates how he physically bullies the other campers, in a way that isn’t entertaining to her.
13. Quarter master
Like the rest of the campers she thinks he’s INCREDIBLY weird even though shes used to supernatural elements so thats saying a lot.
14. Cameron Campbell
Hates him the same amount as the others.
15. The wood scouts
Has to restrain herself from making Edward join the one eye club eveytime she meets him, along with his posey but I forget if Snake has a damaged eye or no eye at all.
16. The flower scouts
Hates them the most and thinks they’re absolutely insufferable. Sasha reminds her of her mother especially and overall would pick a fight with them if she wasn’t literally held down BY THE LAW.

summary: After winning the championship game, Jason planned on going to Benny's with his teammates to party and celebrate their win. However, he surprises you after the game to spend the night with you instead.

warnings: OOC Jason, cursing and pure fluff<3 This is how I think Jason would act in a relationship. I think he would actually be a really sweet boyfriend! (did you see the scenes with him and Chrissy during the pep rally and game? like-)
The crowd roared with excitement as students started running down the bleachers to celebrate with the basketball players. Hawkins had just won their first championship game in 22 years! Your boyfriend, star player and team captain, Jason Carver had almost made the game winning shot. However, he sadly missed. But Lucas Sinclair, the freshman whose been riding the bench the whole season, recovered the ball and made the shot. You were so proud of them, especially Jason. You ran down the bleachers along with the other students so you could talk to your boyfriend. You noticed him smiling as he held one of Lucas’ legs as the other boys helped hold the younger boy up and chant his name. Jason’s smile only got wider when he noticed you. He let go of Lucas' leg, Patrick taking his place.
“I’m so proud of you!” You yelled, running into your boyfriends outstretched arms. He grinned at you, picking you up and twirling you around. You didn’t even care that he was all sweaty from the game. You were too happy for him to even think about anything else.
“Thank you babe.” He put his forehead against yours as he placed you back onto the ground of the basketball court, “We couldn’t have done it, well I couldn’t have done it without your support.”
You smiled, “Awe, you’re the sweetest.” You puckered your red lips and kissed his lips sweetly. He wrapped his arms around your waist as your arms draped around his neck. He pulled you close to his body and kissed you back, passionately. You both pulled away, happy smiles on your faces.
“I love you.”
“I love you too Jay.”
He pulled away from you, grabbing your hand and holding it in his as he spoke.
“The guys are uh, going to Benny’s to celebrate after we all get cleaned up. You’re more than welcome to come with if you want?” He offered, stroking your hand with his thumb.
You smiled sweetly at him, “I appreciate the offer, but I think i’ll just go home. You deserve to celebrate with your teammates—without me there. Plus I’ve been dying to watch Pretty In Pink since I rented it yesterday.”
Jason's shoulders slightly dropped and he seemed like he was a little disappointed. He quickly replaced any look of disappointment with a smile and a nod.
“Okay, that’s fine.”
“Are you sure?”
He nodded, squeezing your hand gently, “Of course.”
You squeezed his hand back, “Have fun with the guys. But please be safe, okay? I don’t want to have to come pick you up in the morning because you’re violently hung over or you did something stupid while you were drunk.”
He chuckled, bringing your hand up to his mouth to kiss it. “Don’t worry, I’ll be safe. I love you.”
“I love you more.” You pulled your hand away from his, desperately wanting to hold it again. You kissed his cheek and patted his shoulder as you started to walk away from him.
“Bye Jason, I’m so proud of you.”
He smiled, “Thank you. I’ll call you later?”
You nodded, “Okay. I’ll be waiting.” You winked before turning away and walking out of the gym. Jason chuckled and shook his head as he watched you walk out. Jason couldn’t help but be a little disappointed that he wasn’t going to be celebrating with you tonight. He understood why you turned his offer down though, his teammates and friends weren’t your favorite people to be around. In all honesty, they weren't his favorite people either. He only put up with them because he had to. If Jason could have it his way, he’d be around you and only you for 24/7. But school, basketball and his friends made it pretty difficult for him to have his way.
“Yo, Jason. You comin’ or what?” Chance called from the locker room door.
Jason snapped out of his thoughts. “Yeah man! Let me clean up real quick.” He jogged off toward the locker room so he could shower and change back into his pre-game clothes—his usual khaki pants, polo shirt, and his green and white varsity jacket.
“Come on dude, hurry up!” Patrick yelled, banging on the door.
“Yeah Jason, we don’t have all night.” Chance whined, “and it’s not like you gotta look all pretty for Y/n. She’s not even gonna be there.”
“Good.” Andy scoffed, causing the group of boys gathered outside the locker room to chuckle. Jason rolled his eyes and quickly threw his dirty uniform into his gym bag. He swung the door open with a huff, walking away from his teammates.
“Wait up dude!” Patrick yelled out, the boys trying to catch up with Jason who just kept walking. He was fuming. He had had enough of his “friends” and the way they talked about you. Once Jason was outside of the school, he allowed the boys to catch up with him.
“What’s wrong with you?” Andy questioned, his brow furrowed.
Jason scoffed, “I’m tired of the way you guys talk about my girlfriend. Just because she’s not a cheerleader like Rachel” he eyed Chance, “or Stephanie,” he looked at Andy, “doesn’t mean she’s not good enough for me. I’m sick and tired of all of your guys little side comments anytime Y/n is around or her name is mentioned.”
The three other boys just stood in awkward silence. Andy broke the silence eventually, “So…” he trailed off.
“You still coming to Benny’s for the party or…?” Chance trailed off.
Jason rolled his eyes, “NO! I’m not still going to Benny’s for some stupid fucking party, all right!?” he snapped, causing Chance to flinch.
“Come on man, we need you there! You’re the captain and it wouldn’t be a high school party without Jason Carver there.” Patrick reasoned, shrugging his shoulders slightly when Chance and Andy looked at him. The two boys nodded in agreement.
Jason just shook his head and walked toward his car.
Andy sighed, “You’ve got nothing better to do tonight Jason. Come to Benny’s, have a few drinks, and just forget about Y/n for one night.”
He completely ignored Andy as he opened his car door. He turned to the three boys, a stone cold expression on his face as he spoke, “You boys have fun tonight, I’ve got better ways to spend my night.”
The boys groaned, Jason chuckled to himself as he climbed into the drivers side, ignoring the boys complaints about how he wasn’t going to be accompanying them to the party at Benny’s. He wasn’t lying to them though, he did have much a much better way to spend the remainder of the night.

You sat on your couch curled up in your favorite fuzzy blanket watching Pretty In Pink—which you had just rented yesterday, and eating popcorn. Your parents were out of town, which meant that you had the whole house to yourself over spring break. Unlike your peers, anytime your parents were out of town you didn’t throw parties. You took the time to relax and enjoy your time to yourself. Just as you put more popcorn in your mouth, the doorbell rang. Your heart dropped to your stomach. Who would be ringing your doorbell this late at night? You pulled the blanket off of your body and set it aside next to you on the couch. You stood up from the couch and walked over to the door. You assumed it was probably some of the basketball players ding-dong ditching you as one of their party games. You unlocked the door and opened it, a pleasant surprise greeted you at the door.
“I heard there was a Pretty In Pink watch party goin’ on over here. I was told there would be plenty of snacks too?” Jason asked, a playful smile on his face.
You grinned, laughing softly as he spoke.
“Can I come in?” He gestured into your house. You nodded and moved aside so he could come in. You locked the door once he was inside.
“I thought you were going to the party at Benny’s?”
He shrugged, “I had other plans.” He put his hands in his pockets, smiling at you. You smiled, pulling him into a hug. He wrapped his muscular arms around your body, holding you close. You hummed at the action. You pulled away, your hands holding his biceps as he did the same to yours.
“You didn’t have to come here.”
“Yes I did. Besides, I’d rather be here with you watching movies all night than suffering at some stupid party without you.”
You heart swelled at his confession. Oh how you love your boyfriend. Jason may seem like the typical jock—a douche with a big ego that thrives off of attention and daddy’s money. But anyone that truly knew Jason, would know that he is a total sweetheart with the ones he loves, and that he doesn’t always thrive off his daddy’s money. Jason doesn’t have the best relationship with his parents. His parents could give two shits about him and his personal life. The only thing they want out of Jason is for him to go to a big university after he graduates and to marry Brandi, the girl in youth group at his church. Jason was fine with giving his parents the satisfaction of going to a university once he graduated, but he certainly wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of marrying Brandi. He was too in love with you to even think about any other girl. Jason knew as soon as the two of you graduate next month, he’s going to propose to you. He was ready to spend the rest of his life with you. Even if his “friends” didn’t like you, or his parents were too obsessed with the idea of him and Brandi together that they didn’t even consider the thought of him marrying another girl, Jason didn’t care. All he cared about was you and getting to be with you for the rest of his life.
“Jason Carver is being sweet? What?” You playfully said, pretending to be shocked.
Jason chuckled, “Don’t tell anyone, okay?”
You craned your head up slightly, placing a sweet and passionate kiss on Jason’s lips. He kissed back with the same amount of love and passion, one of his hands now cupping your cheek to hold you close to him. You pulled away, biting your lip slightly.
“So about that Pretty In Pink watch party?” He quirked an eye brow up.
You smiled, grabbing his hand and leading him over to your couch. He plopped down, patting the spot next to him. You sat down, grabbing your fuzzy blanket and draping it over your guys’ legs. You grabbed the giant bowl full of popcorn from the table and placed it perfectly in between you and Jason. Jason then put his arm around your shoulder as you rested your head between his armpit, the two of you getting comfortable to watch the movie. For the next hour and a half, you and Jason cuddled on the couch, ate popcorn and other junk food, and watched the movie, which you decided was your new favorite. It was a little after midnight when you finally stood from the couch. You stretched before rewinding the tape and taking it of out of the VCR. You turned to walk back to the couch, smiling softly at your sleepy boyfriend.
“Come on my love, let’s go to bed.”
Jason rubbed his eyes and yawned, “Bed or bed.” he asked with a suggestive smirk.
You rolled your eyes, grabbing his hand and pulling him off of the couch. He groaned as you pulled him.
“The first one.” You replied, holding his hands.
He yawned loudly, “Sounds good to me. I’m exhausted from tonight.”
“I’m sure you are. You did so good tonight, babe.”
He pulled you in for a sweet kiss, “Mmm, thank you sweetheart. Only because I had the prettiest fan cheering for me.”
You pulled away, bashfully smiling at him. Jason always knew how to get you flustered. You let go of his hand and made your way upstairs to your room, Jason following right behind you. As soon as you were in your room, you turned your light on and grabbed Jason’s overnight clothes from your bottom drawer. He always kept a pair of sweatpants and basketball shorts in the drawer, along with some old t-shirts.
“Any preference?” You asked, holding up the pair of sweatpants and shorts.
“I’ll take the sweatpants.”
You nodded and handed him the pair of gray sweatpants.
“T-shirt?” You held up a red shirt for him.
“Nah, I’ve got you to keep me warm tonight if that’s alright with you?” He winked.
“Fine by me.” You smiled sweetly up at him. Jason being shirtless was never something you’d turn down.
“Good.” He smirked, shrugging his varsity jacket off his shoulders and draping it on your vanity. You were already changed into your favorite pair of pajamas, so you climbed into bed as Jason got undressed. You covered your eyes to give him some privacy as he changed.
He chuckled at you, “It’s not like you haven’t seen any of this before, Y/n.”
“I know,” You shrugged, “but you still deserve some privacy.”
You felt your hands being pulled away from your face. You giggled as Jason gently pushed you down onto the bed, his large arms wrapping around your waist as you propped yourself up on your elbows. His lips hovered over yours, slowly closing the gap between the two of you. You let yourself fall flat onto the bed, your hands running down Jason’s bare back as he hovered over you. You moaned softly into the kiss. He pulled away, looking at you with a smirk.
“I love you so much.” He whispered as he caressed your cheek.
“I love you more.”
He kissed your cheek, “I don’t think that’s possible, Y/n.”
You grinned at your boyfriend, feeling your heart swell with love. You’ve been dating Jason for two years now and he still makes you feel the way he made you felt when you first started dating. He made you feel like you were the most important person in the whole world to him. Jason moved himself off of you, allowing you to move so you could get under the covers. Once you were comfortable on your side of the bed, Jason slipped in next to you holding his right arm up so you could snuggle into his side. You laid your head down on his chest, using your right hand to trace shapes onto his toned abdomen. He brought his arm down, draping it over your waist and holding you tightly against him. Your fingertips traced along his abs, making him let out a content sigh at the contact. You smiled, bringing your hand up to his chest and letting it settle over his heart. He used his free hand to cover your hand that was over his heart. Now it was your turn to hum in content.
You felt your eyes grow heavy, wanting nothing more than to fall asleep in the arms of your boyfriend.
“Night babe,” You said, giving his chest a chaste kiss.
“G'night, sweetheart.” He replied, picking your hand up and kissing it. He placed it back over his heart, and before the two of you knew it, you were both sound asleep.
You woke up to the sunlight that was peaking into your room from your curtains, hitting your face. You squinted slightly and picked your head up from Jason’s chest, careful not to wake him from his peaceful slumber. Your alarm clock read: 8:22. You laid your head back down on his chest, hoping to fall back asleep. However once you laid back down, you felt Jason stir underneath you, his arms instinctively tightening around you. His eyes fluttered open. He looked over at your alarm clock, sighing softly as he saw how early it was. He turned his head, looking down at you, his blue eyes meeting your y/e/c ones. He smiled softly.
“Mornin’ beautiful.”
“Good morning, Jason. How’d you sleep?”
The question made him yawn. He shook his head slightly after he finished yawning, “Great, but not long enough.”
You giggled, lifting your head from his chest. The two of you moving so you were now in a position that was somewhere between sitting up and laying down on the bed.
“I’m sorry, part of that is my fault. I didn’t mean to wake you up.”
He shook his head, “You didn’t wake me up. I’m used to being awake this early.” He pointed to his abs, “How d’you think I keep these in shape?” he flexed his biceps, “or these?”
“Touché,” you replied, admiring his muscles. Jason smirked and relaxed his arms, bringing them down to rest on the bed. You grabbed one of this hands, holding it in yours. He stroked your soft skin with his thumb, the two of you enjoying the peaceful silence between you—until Jason’s stomach let out a loud growl. The noise made you giggle, but the boy just hid his face in embarrassment at his stomachs sudden outburst.
“Awe, don’t be embarrassed babe.” You said, sticking out your bottom lip as you tried to pull his hands away from his face. He took his hands away from his face giving you a look mixed with embarrassment and annoyance. You giggled, leaning in and placing a sweet kiss on the tip of his nose.
You pulled your face away, “You’re so cute.” You gave him a smile, “Now, let’s go get some breakfast.” You rubbed his tummy, making him groan in embarrassment. You shook your head with a laugh, sliding off the side of your bed. You stood next to the side Jason was laying on, holding out your hand for him to grab.
“Come on. I’ll go make you whatever you want.” You smiled sweetly. He sighed, grabbing your hand and allowing you to pull him off the bed.
“Fine, only because you said it so sweetly.” he joked, snaking his arms around your waist. You smiled, wrapping your arms around his middle, humming as he squeezed you gently. When the two of you pulled away, he allowed you to take his hand and lead him downstairs to your kitchen. Once you were in your kitchen, Jason sat down on a barstool watching you as you rummaged through your pantry and looked in your fridge.
“I can make bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, toast? We have a lot of fruit too, do you like melon? Strawberries?”
Jason chuckled, “Whatever you want to make, Y/n/n.”
“How about I make bacon, eggs, and waffles or pancakes?” You suggested, leaning against the fridge door.
“Sure baby.” he nodded.
“What sounds better, pancakes or waffles?”
“I could go for waffles.” Jason replied, rubbing his toned abdomen.
You nodded, smiling at him, “Great!” You turned around, grabbing the waffle mix from your pantry and the bacon and eggs from your fridge. You grabbed a mixing bowl from the cabinet to the left of the stove. Jason stood up from his barstool, picking up a knife and the package of bacon.
“Go sit back down, I got it,” You smiled as you started to crack the eggs into a bowl. Jason shook his head.
“It’s alright, I want to help.” He pulled the packaging off the raw bacon and started to pull apart the strips, so he could cook them on the skillet next to the one you were using to scramble the eggs. In about ten minutes, you had four waffles cooked, a dozen eggs scrambled, and a whole lot of bacon and fruit. As you transferred the waffles onto two plates, one for you and one for Jason, Jason wrapped his arms around your waist.
“Breakfast looks great, smells even better babe.”
You smiled, thanking him softly. You handed him a plate with two waffles on it, “Go ahead and make your plate, I’ll put the fruit and some juice on the counter.” You gently squeezed his bare shoulder as he scooped some scrambled eggs onto his plate. He smiled sweetly at the contact. You placed the strawberries and mixed melon on the counter, along with the carton of orange juice. Jason left the barstool next to the fridge for you, sitting down on the one next to it instead. He scooped some fruit onto his plate as you got food from the stove. You walked over to the empty barstool, sitting down next your boyfriend. He poured both of you a cup full of orange juice. The two of you ate your breakfast in a peaceful silence, just happy to be in each others company.
Jason chewed on a piece of bacon, swallowing before he said, “Thank you for making me breakfast sweetheart.” He grabbed your hand, squeezing it gently. You smiled sweetly, squeezing his large hand.
“Of course, anything for you.” He leaned forward with a smile, pecking your lips.
“You taste like bacon,” you giggled.
He smiled goofily, “And that’s a bad thing?”
You shook your head, “Not at all.”
Jason chuckled, in response. His chuckle fading out as the comfortable silence came back. He stared into your eyes, his blue eyes full of total love and adoration as he took in all of your beautiful features. You could feel yourself growing flustered under his strong, loving gaze.
“Do I have something on my face?” You questioned, picking up a napkin.
He shook his head, stroking your hand with his thumb, “No, I’m just admiring how beautiful my girlfriend is.”
You smiled, “You’re too sweet to me, Jason Carver.”
“I don’t know about that one, I think you’re the one that’s too sweet to me, Y/n Y/L/n. I mean you did just cook me the best breakfast I think I’ve ever had.”
You brought his hand up to your mouth, kissing it softly.
“Which, thank you for making it for me. You didn’t have to.”
“Of course I did. I wasn’t going to let you starve!”
He grinned, showing off that beautiful smile you loved so much.
“Well I appreciate it baby.” He leaned forward kissing you sweetly, “I love you.”
You kissed him back, bringing your hand up to his cheek, “I love you too.”
After the two of you finished up your breakfast, you went to Family Video and rented a bunch of movies, spending the rest of your day cuddled up on the couch eating popcorn and watching your favorite movies. As you were snuggled into his side, Jason couldn’t help but smile at you. You looked so comfortable wrapped up in his varsity jacket with your head laying on his stomach. He slowly rubbed your bicep up and down with his hand, which caused your eyes to grow heavy. Jason’s smile only got wider when he noticed you had fallen asleep on him. He pulled you closer, careful not to wake you up from your peaceful slumber. He leaned his head back, sighing in content.
There was no where Jason would rather be after winning the championship game than with his favorite girl, watching their favorite movies.
