Buck & Eddie: The moment they should have gone CANON!
I've posted the shooting before (3 minutes and 17 seconds & two deleted scenes) but I'm posting it again after OS's most recent interview because it was the moment they should have gone CANON.
Almost everyone who watched 4x13 & 4x14 UNDERSTOOD WHAT THIS SCENE MEANT.
BUCK & EDDIE ARE IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER AND THEY HAVE BEEN FOR YEARS.
Buck & Eddie are soulmates who share a once in a lifetime, love of their lives type of love that transcends space and time.
It was the moment when Buck's heart stopped and he went into a catatonic state of shock when the love of his life, EDDIE DIAZ, was shot in front of him. Eddie's blood splattered across Buck's face and some of it went into his mouth.
Eddie was the one who was shot and bleeding out when the love of his life EVAN "BUCK" BUCKLEY, crawled underneath a ladder truck and pulled Eddie to safety but he was conscious enough to ask Buck, "Are you hurt?"
None of their previous or current LIs CAN EVER OR WILL EVER COMPARE TO THIS MOMENT!
The F*X network tried to make the audience believe we were seeing things when in fact, they were the ones who stopped Buck and Eddie from confessing their love to each other. It's been 2 years and so much time has been wasted. SMH!
But...
TM the OG showrunner is back and he's righting the 'SHIP. For Buddie shippers who've been around for years and who know OS and RG are the captains of this ship, we understand, one day Buddie will go CANON.
In 7x4 Eddie asked Buck, "You're not jumping ship, are you?" and Buck said "NO! I'm just keeping things fluid!"
HELLO! THEY WERE SPEAKING DIRECTLY TO BUDDIE SHIPPERS.
Now it's only a matter of time before Buddie goes CANON!
"Time will tell."
THAT'S LOVE!
I ONLY SHIP BUDDIE!
OS AND RG ARE THE CAPTAINS OF THIS SHIP!
RG NAMED THIS SHIP 'BUDDIE' AND OS AGREED!

No one cares but literally the whole reason Eddie is with Marisol right now is bc of the graveyard scene cuz otherwise the whole “we don’t date people we rescue” speech would be the most hypocritical thing ever considering it happened like two seconds after. my mans was hurt and embarrassed and wanted to one up the Evan of Buckley & his death doula

I swear to everything holy, if this season ends with a newly single Buck, sitting on the Diaz’s couch, while looking fondly at Eddie, I will ascend. I. WILL. ASCEND. THAT IS HIS COUCH 😭

Okay, no, seriously, let's assume Oliver really is talking about season 4 and the will reveal of it all, because that scene is an aborted love confession, plain and simple, and considering the circumstances that conversation happens, the way the shooting is framed, Buck's reactions, everything Eddie is implying, considering the way Eddie's breakdown is structured, the shooting was supposed to be an oh moment. For both of them. Buck running to the familiarity of women because he doesn't know how to handle what he feels for Eddie and adding being in love with Buck to the list of things that makes Eddie crumble is right there. I've read that fic. Multiple times. Multiple people wrote it. They haven't talked about the well, the shooting, the will, the lightning, because they were not allowed to. There's no way to write that scene and not acknowledge that they have feelings for each other. I've been speculating about one or both of them getting hurt or something happening to Chris to force them to talk, because at this point they would need another trigger, so I was just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks, but that makes sense if the shooting had that goal. Because if something happens to Chris, you force Eddie to reinforce who Buck is to Chris and that would spark things, because it would force Eddie to define who Buck is to him, because he never defined who Buck is to him in the show. You hurt Eddie, you force the will to be brought up again, and you do it in front of a Buck who knows he's bi, something's gotta click in that man's brain. And you put them both in a "hopeless" situation, you also force the conversation, because things would be said. The possibilities this opens, dude.

“Why can’t Eddie and Buck just be friends?”
Because, dear fandom, they have not been set up as just best friends. Intentional or not, the way they have been cinematically filmed and edited, the way they have been written, and the way they have been acted scream romantic/sexual chemistry.
You want to watch meaningful male friendships? Go watch Psych, a show that portrays a best friendship with no romantic or sexual elements and does so quite beautifully.
Go watch Shawn and Gus and then compare them to Buck and Eddie.
I can respect the Tevan shippers who prefer Tommy over Eddie. That’s a matter of opinion. What is a matter of fact is the queer, homoerotic subtext that has been injected into this show between Buck and Eddie.
If you watch this show and don’t see that, I fear media literacy is dead.

okay here is how i see things. (based on recent interviews and discussions and a cameo)
nobody actually knows if buddie will go canon. not Tim, not Oliver and Ryan, not the network or showrunners. call me to trusting but i fully believe that. we’ve had Tim mentioning how he hasn’t been writing much in advance, especially this season, and we know about all the last minute changes that have been happening (switching of ep 4 and 5, Tommy with Buck instead of Eddie,…). now obviously he must have some overarching idea where the characters are heading and their motivations are, and on top of that we can clearly see he’s been building both Buck and Edie into the potential of being a thing. but i don’t think anybody has decided if they will actually go there. we can also all agree it won’t happen within the next few episodes, most likely not until season 8 or further.
there is a difference between buddie storyline and any other characters, because obviously buddie has been something we’ve been screaming about for years. but for the writers and showrunners themselves it’s not that different. they do listen to us but they’re also not gonna close themselves off to other options for the two guys. they’re aiming for a long running show.
do i think buddie will happen? without a doubt. i just don’t think it’s exactly planned out yet. so when ppl say Ryan and Oliver are “dropping hints” i genuinely think they’re just speaking their own mind. it’s all good vibes now since certain people are not in charge of the show anymore.

Posted on Twitter/X but reposting here because it's the main thing i constantly think about:
If Tommy was just a "plot device", why did Tim pick a character who has a connection to pretty much everyone in the main cast? Why not a new one? And here's the rub, you can't say "because then he'd be back on the hamster wheel", because then you're just proving my point 😏

Buddie Wedding Season 10👀?
The interviewer joked and said "And what I think I heard you say is possibly by season 10, there might be a wedding. I mean you know".
With his gorgeous smile, OS replied, "Between me and Eddie?"
Interviewer: "You just said it not me."
OS: "Headline created!" He laughs then says, "Oliver says."
They both laugh then OS says, "Who knows?
This is one of the cutest interviews and I love seeing OS so happy. He's so excited for what's to come for Buck and Eddie that his cheeks are just as rosy as RG's were during the pre-season interviews.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're both so happy to finally be able to talk about Buck and Eddie the way they should have been able to do back at the end of season 4 after the shooting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
F*X tried to stop this awesome ship from sailing but TM fought to get the show picked up by ABC and now the entire cast is being celebrated and appreciated.
I can't wait to see what's getting ready to happen with Buck & Eddie and the Buckley-Diaz Family. Their love confessions should have happened years ago but it will happen and with the way things have been going in season 7, it might happen sooner than the audience thinks.
OS and RG out here in these "Buddie Streets" sharing things to let us Buddie Shippers know we saw Buck's and Eddie’s undying love for each other and they did too. They're soulmates who share a once in a lifetime, love of their lives type of love that transcends space and time.
I ONLY SHIP BUDDIE!
OTP Buddie
RG and OS are the captains of this ship!
RG named it "Buddie" and OS agreed!

the second they made buck bi i watched the whole show for the first time, took a week, finished just before the latest episode came out. this obviously means i do not know my first thing about anything, most theories and fanon storylines included. what is the most important stuff that i need to know? the more deranged and delusional the better 🌸
lmao gotta love this ask. okay nonny let’s see.
the couch theory: right after Buck breaks up with Taylor, Eddie and Chris have dinner at his loft. they make fun of the fact that Buck doesn’t have a couch, and he says “my last two couches came with girlfriends — maybe I don’t wanna pick the wrong couch again.” we strongly believe the right couch is Eddie, and the scene itself is pretty, uh… hinting. I made a post about it.
the color theory: this theory stems from the fact that most of us believe the colors they are dressed in or are illuminated by (etc) aren't a coincidence, as in, we think different colors mean different things pertaining to their story and feelings. pls see our preacher on this subject @lover-of-mine <3 her posts are amazing
dad!buck: its a commonly accepted truth that Buck is not Chris’ uncle, but his dad. there’s not a lot of explaining to do, other than the man just loves Chris as his own, and clearly Eddie thinks the same, considering he added him to his WILL (insane behavior if u ask me).
shooting/lightening as direct parallels: Eddie getting shot and Buck getting struck by lightning are the two highlights of their individual and intertwined tragedies. there’s obviously other moments where they fear they may lose each other but these two are the biggest, most gut-wrenching ones. (these are their strings of fate, remember they both had to pull the other to safety).
buddie tends to parallel to every canon couple on the show: I’d have to pull up many receipts but, if you watch closely, you’ll see them. Bathena and Buddie both have water trauma, for example (tsunami vs capsized cruise ship), plus other more lighthearted ones like the Madney karaoke + the bachelor party Buddie karaoke scenes (7x06).
Edmundo Díaz is demisexual: and most likely gay. idk i didn't feel too comfy with the hyper-sexualization of Eddie on 7x05. but it’s more than that, obvi. that man was seen sleeping with Shannon, then with no one until Marisol, and i kinda believe Eddie getting out of the house to not have sex with her bc he felt distanced from her tells us a lot about him. he seems to only be able to engage in sexual activity should he feel something for that person.
I didn’t mean for all of these to be buddie coded, but alas, I’ve watched the show through their looking glass, and these are the theories that I’ve engaged with the most. for anyone reading, feel free to add more!💗

I find it amusing, how Eddie saw Buck's fascination with Marjan and said, "Nope, I'll go talk to her and end up following her on ig."
And how Buck saw Eddie’s fascination and actual budding friendship with Tommy and said "Nope, if I can't have him no one can" and proceeded to take Tommy on a date.
This is very loud to me...

Prefacing this by saying this is not what I EXPECT to happen in 7x09 and 7x10, it's just one specific scenario that I feel particularly feral about right now... so with that said, I'm gonna throw out a dream scenario for the end of S7:
Tommy and Buck are dating and it's going well. Buck is just sort of blossoming in his new identity as a queer man. There's a self-confidence and assuredness to him that we haven't seen before
Meanwhile, Eddie has broken things off with Marisol and is quietly going through his own reevaluation of his sexuality. His awareness of his queerness happens pretty simultaneously with his realization that the way he loves Buck isn't entirely platonic, but he keeps it to himself because Buck is happy with Tommy
Episode 9 finds Eddie and Buck together off duty. Maybe they're having an argument. Maybe on the surface they're arguing about something small but somehow it feels much bigger
Mid-argument some emergency strikes. Buck and Eddie are trapped together and it's BAD. They're both in mortal peril, but it's worse for Eddie. Eddie hopes help will arrive in time to save Buck, but he's pretty sure he won't be alive to see it
(And I just want to stress - I feel like it's essential that they are off duty when this happens. They are in sync on the job, it's how they fit together outside of the job they're still figuring out)
So Eddie gets Buck's attention - because Buck hasn't given up yet. He won't. He CAN'T. He's frantically searching for solutions as Eddie repeats his name in a weakened voice, until finally he cracks and says, "Evan, please. I need you to hear this."
And in the final seconds of episode nine, Eddie Diaz looks Evan Buckley dead in the eye and tells him, "I love you"
Episode ten opens on an unrelated disaster, just to keep us gnashing our teeth a little longer
Maybe we throw some flashbacks in there for good measure
Check in on the rest of the firefam frantically trying to coordinate a rescue effort
But FINALLY they cut back to Buck and Eddie in mortal danger and replay the last few moments of episode 9. And believing these are the last words he'll ever say, Eddie tells Buck how much he loves him. He says he's sorry he realized it too late, but he could never, never regret loving him
Somehow there's a callback reference to Mitchell and Thomas, and the way Buck looked at their clasped hands as they died, and Buck realizing that dying together was never the point of their story. Living together was
And Buck is full sobbing and begging him not to give up yet because Christopher needs him and the team needs him and finally saying "and I need you, Eddie. You can't leave me. You can't-"
We get the sense that Buck is on the cusp of a love confession of his own, but before he gets the words out he's cut off by the sound of helicopter blades overhead.
Their miracle rescue arrives in time, led by none other than Buck's starting-to-be-something-serious boyfriend Tommy
After the rescue, we see Eddie in the back of the ambulance, stable and out of danger, and Buck's about to go over to him but Tommy comes running over and sweeps Buck up in his arms and kisses his temple and says, "thank god you're ok. I don't know what I'd do if I lost you"
And Buck lets himself be held, but his attention is over Tommy's shoulder looking at Eddie
Eddie, who's gonna be ok
Eddie, who loves him
Eddie, who is the absolute center of Buck's world, but Buck has never allowed himself to think of That Way
And Eddie meets Buck's eye over Tommy's shoulder and gives him a sad smile that lets Buck know he intends to go back to quietly loving Buck at just a little bit of a distance so that Buck can be happy with someone else
And just to really twist the knife, we get an overheard piece of dialogue in which Eddie refers to Buck as his "best friend" for the literal first time ever (I'm pretty sure? Up til now, any time the "best friend" label has been used it's been by Buck, but please correct me if I'm wrong.)
And the season ends there
Cue the entire fandom going APESHIT for the entirety of the summer hiatus
