Late Night Talking

Jacob woke up to the sounds of heavy breathing, his bed empty and cold.
“Y/n?”
“Mm?” She mumbled from his desk chair.
“You ok?”
“Mm- yeah. Just couldn’t sleep,” she was still breathing quite heavily, almost like she was winded.
“What happened?” He was worried, standing up and turning a lamp on as he sat at the edge of the bed.
Y/n sat with her knees bent and feet planted on the chair, arms holding her knees to her chest.
“Nothing,” she whispered, resting her head on her knees.
“Not nothing, I’m here for you baby. You know that.”
“Just a bit anxious, I’m ok though. Go back to sleep.”
Jacob stared at her for a moment. She wouldn’t meet his eyes. So he stood, grabbed his laptop and grabbed Y/n’s hand; pulling her towards the bed. He pulled up Disney + and put on a shark documentary, she loves those for some reason. He guided her head to his chest, his right hand caressing her head, and the left going under her shirt to rub at her back.
“Talk to me, pretty eyes,” he whispered against her head.
“I’m feeling overwhelmed with work. Tania quit and Andrew’s got Covid, it’s just me and Rose. It’s so stressful. And then stuff with my family-” her voice began to shake, clearing her throat to disguise it.
“I know baby, I'm sorry. But you’re off tomorrow, can just chill and figure it all out the next day. Everything will work itself out. But for now, what can I do to help you relax?”
“Can I have back scratches? And just talk to me? ‘bout anything,” she pleaded.
“Did I tell you about the time I ripped my pants?”
“Mm-mm,” Y/n giggled.
“So my friend was teaching me to skateboard right? So I was doing well, but then I tried to do a trick, put one foot on the skateboard and I tried to jump to get the other on, but I missed and the skateboard went forward. Ripped my pants right down the middle,” he was chuckling as he told the story.
“I hope you were wearing underwear.”
“Thank god I was,” he laughed, kissing her hair.
“I remember when my friend tried to teach me to skateboard,” she began, “I was so bad at it. And so scared I was gonna fall. We shared the gear, she had the left knee pad, I had the right, I had the left wrist pad thing, she had the right. Was pretty dumb. Hurt my ankle. Ended up going down the hill sitting on the board while she practiced tricks.”
“I’d take that over ripped pants any day,” he rolled his eyes playfully.
Y/n and Jacob continued to tell stories from when they were younger, like the time Jacob crashed his grandpa’s golf cart, and when Y/n had a bruised rib. because her current best friend was giving her a piggyback ride and dropped her.
Jacob kissed her head once again, falling into silence as Y/n’s breathing slowed and became less shallow. Eyes drooping and hand falling from his. This is what he craved. This closeness and absolute adoration they shared for each other. He was so happy with her, and all he wanted to do for the rest of his life was make her happy.

Cute romance by young, new, and self published author. Very relatable female lead. If you enjoyed The Unrequited, you will like this book for all of the same reasons. Quick and easy read, only 240. She isn’t perfect, she clumsy, and I wouldn’t even say she’s socially awkward, she just a normal college student in her early 20s. She’s a fun narrator. This author has a lot of potential and her writing will only get better.
Gabriel’s Inferno by Slyvain Reynard-⭐️😇

Such a good dark academia book. Beautifully written and actually has a movie adaptation. I would definitely recommend this if you want a realistic couple but a bit more serious. Characters have so much depth

Troubled rich girl gets sent off to a catholic boarding school and falls for the asshole Dean of the school. Smut is pretty good, plot works. I’m not going to say it’s bad, I think whether or not it’s enjoyable depends on the person. It wasn’t bad, I just wasn’t obsessed. If you’re just trying to live vicariously through her (aren’t we all), then it works!
Teach Me by L. L. Ash-🌶️

Really good start, and I do mean GREAT start… I just feel like the sex scene came too soon (Ch. 9/32) and it threw me off but I also like SUPER slow burns. It’s still a good book. I enjoyed the male love interest, Professor Harlo. They’re cute together. Grump and Sunshine.

Most beautiful romance series I’ve ever read, best written books by Jessica Hawkins. I recommend all of her other books. Lake is 16 when she first meets Manning but nothing sexual happens between them for another 3 books until she’s in her 20s. Beautiful slow burn with characters full of depth.
Sinner by Sierra Simone- ⭐️💦
Brother’s Best Friend & religious themes
Amazing character creation and mapping. These characters feel real! This book is about “teaching” a girl about sex before she becomes a nun. It’s not just a bang bang, hump hump book. It has heart and it really good. If you enjoy religious themed romance, you may enjoy Priest by Sierra Simone too. I didn’t 💀
Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas- 💦
Ex’s Dad
Most popular forbidden romance so whatever you’ve heard about it, dump it. This might be the most tame book on this list. Pacing is good, well written main character. Insane amounts of smut but it doesn’t drive the story forward so feel free to skip it if you get tired.
Love Unexpected by Q. B. Tyler- 💦
Ex Stepdad & parent death
This book is HOT! However after the first few scenes, I got a bit tired of the smut. Well written enough female lead with a rushed ending. However if you just need something to read and not despise it, it’s good enough.
Strictly Off Limits by Jessica Hawkins-🌶️
Dad’s Best Friend
Jessica is my favorite author so I’m a bit biased but she definitely isn’t a smut writer. This novella would’ve been better without smut however it isn’t super present and doesn’t really drive the story forward so don’t feel like you’re missing anything if you skip the smut!
The Doctor by Nikki Sloane- 💦

personally didn’t care for this book, smut starts off way too quick and I’m more of a slow burn girl. It is a novella however, it was still too quick. However! You may love it <3

Cupid! Mc who would spend centuries doing their duties as a cupid, walking amongst the human world and influcing the feeling of love amongst people.
Cupid! Mc, who was the cupid of Eros, often pondered if demons could ever fall in love. Love is a natural feeling, whether it be platonic, romantic, or familial - so could the worst of the worst feel something genuine like that?
Cupid! Mc was curious when they heard about the exchange program for angels, demons, and humans to get along. Maybe they would get to meet new creatures alike!
Cupid! Mc, who decided to apply to the program out of pure wonder if a creature who was neither angelic, demonic, or human could join the Royal Academy of Diavolo.
Cupid! Mc who often found themselves the main attraction of the school. Somehow, always finding a group of demons staring at them with malicious intent.
Cupid! Mc who somehow found themselves befriending a group of incubi and sucubi. It was eye-opening meeting a bunch of beings who were the polar opposite of you. Regardless, they helped you around while they bombarded you with questions.
Cupid! Mc, after staying in devildom for years, would eventually be introduced to the king of lust himself, Asmodeus. With the personification of love being in hell, of course, the personification of lust would come along.
Asmodeus! Who would rush at you with exciment, stating how he's it's been a while since he's encountered a cupid and asked how your goddess the "Bitchy jealous Aphrodite" was doing.
Asmodeus! Who would always stick by your side, claiming how a dove like you should be careful in hell. Generously offering to be your tour guide while he showered you with companionship.
Asmodeus! As the king of lust, was surprisingly modest with you. To your surprise, he was in no rush to get in between your pants but rather trying his hardest to keep his reputation with you on a good note.
Asmodeus! Who you soon got to know as a close friend was a selfish individual. Casually sleeping with those left and right while breaking hearts along the way simply because he was bored.
Cupid! Mc, who doesn't expect much from the avatar of lust just simply accepts him for who he is. They don't understand why lust is so tempting for someone.. Regardless, they simply turn the other way and continue to treat Asmodeus as a friend.
Cupid! Mc, who begins to find themselves closer with Asmodeus. No longer seeing them just as the avatar of lust - but a trustworthy friend they could gossip with and someone to go to advice.
Asmodeus! Who is conflicted about how he feels about Mc begins to question them and their relationship. After all, someone always wants something..

Asmodeus! Who wants to get rid of this awful feeling, sleeps around with whoever he can find. Trying to distract himself from you plauging his mind. But no matter what, it never helped..
Asmodeus! Who slowly loses his mind whenever you speak your mind. When was the last time someone spoke to him without wanting something? If you were to leave, would he ever have that again?
Asmodeus! Who slowly reveals his ugly flaws around you. He's slowly falling at the seems with his alienated feelings towards you..
Asmodeus! Who finally snaps under the pressure of his internal struggle decides to do something about it. His solution? Keeping you locked up until he figures out what you are to him and what he wants with you.
Asmodeus! Who sweetly smiled at you, wrapping his arms around your waist while cooing those words that seemed to mush inside your head.
Asmodeus! Who had successfully lulled you inside his room keeps you locked up in a nice set of chains.
Asmodeus! Who reveals himself to be a desperate and emotionally starved demon, whines for your attention and affection. Threatening to clip off your wings whenever you ignore him, blaming you for bewitching him to fall in love with you. That's what it was, right?!
Asmodeus! Who after pulling you into a kiss realises what you are to him. You're more than just a typical hookup or 'partner'. You were someone he genuinely loved. Which was embarrassing him to admit since he always believed:
"Love and lust cannot mix. Literally, I'm not capable of it. No matter how much someone treats me good, unfortunately for them, I won't fall in love. Hell, I don't think I've ever had an actual butterflies in my stomach crush for anyone!"
Asmodeus! Even though obessed and greedy for your attention- it is pathetically starved for your approval. He won't push any moves on you, but he'll constantly shower you with kisses, self care, and gifts just to see you contempt!

“Why are you slamming all the cabinets in here?” you ask as you walk into the kitchen.
More slamming and no answers.
“Bucky.”
Slam.
“BUCKY!”
He spins around and narrows his eyes, his brow furrowed and his jaw tight.
“Where’s the coffee?”
You blink several times before the realization hits you and your eyes widen.
“Oh shit,” you mutter.
“You forgot it, didn’t you?” he grits out.
“We have coffee!” you say quickly, slipping around him and opening the cabinet he just slammed shut.
You turn his way with a sweet smile. “See.”
“I don’t like that coffee baby doll. I want my coffee…that you forgot.”
You cross your arms over your chest and glare.
“This is coffee. Why can’t you just use this for now,” you say with a huff.
“I don’t like the way it tastes!” he says, clearly exasperated.
“It’s just coffee Bucky. Get over it!”
“This is serious doll face. What am I gonna do now!”
Just as he finishes his sentence, Alpine trots into the kitchen and hops up on the counter to swat at him.
“Look even Alpine thinks you’re being ridiculous! Just drink the coffee that’s right there!” you shout.
“I DON’T LIKE IT!” he whines.
Alpine meows loudly before hopping up into the open cabinet and squeezing himself onto the shelf to sit and watch the drama unfold.
“OH MY GOD Buck. You’re a big grumpy baby!”
“I can’t believe you don’t realize how bad this is,” he goes on. “I just…now I don’t have any…and…”
You start to back out of the room, your steps slow and calculated as he continues his rant. When you reach the doorway you grab the hem of your shirt and lift it over your head, flashing him.
“I can’t drink that shitttt…” he trails off, clearing his throat.
“Well, it looks like you’re gonna have to for now,” you state before throwing your shirt at his face.
You wait for his retort but he just stares.
“What? That’s it. Now you have nothing to say!” you taunt. “I thought it was serious Buck.”
“It is serious baby doll. It’s coffee,” he answers quietly, his tone now husky.
He barely lifts his eyes from your chest as he speaks, his tongue darting out to trace the outline of his lips.
“Well then, I don’t know what else to do,” you say with a shrug. “If it’s too serious even with boobs involved…”
A low growl slips from the back of his throat as he drags his teeth over his bottom lip and he’s still blatantly staring.
“You have these,” you declare. “You still need coffee?”
“What?” he says, his eyes lifting to yours for only a second before they drop again.
“You’re still complaining Buck.”
“Well, I’m gonna need more convincing doll,” he says, pushing off the counter and stepping closer.
“More convincing?!?” you ask incredulously, hands on your hips. “What more convincing do you want?”
He closes the distance between you and adjusts himself in his sweats, only highlighting where all the thoughts in his brain have gone.
“I don’t know…,” he starts as he lifts his hands.
You swat his hands away.
“You wanna chat with the left or the right?” you ask.
He raises his hands again and his fingers curl, making a grabby motion.
“Both. I wanna talk to both,” he breathes out.
“Who are you talking to, my eyes are up here!” you admonish.
He suddenly looks up at you, his eyes dark.
“I said I wanted to talk to both…so I’M TALKIN’!”
You step back, just out of his reach, and start to smile.
“You better get over here doll,” he warns playfully.
He moves forward and in one quick movement he has you pressed against his broad chest.
“You’re mine now.”
“What about your coffee Buck?”
He dips his head and ghosts his lips across your jaw, pressing them just under your ear before they trail down your neck.
“Hmm?” he asks. “Coffee? Why are you still talking about coffee.”
Your giggle quickly transforms into a moan when his hands smooth over your curves and cup your breasts.
“Wow,” you murmur. “That was easy.”

You think anyone in Gotham has ever made an edit of Bruce Wayne? Like I know he's not really like a, super celebrity, but I mean he goes to all these galas and events where a lot of really well know celebrities go, and there are reporters going to them too so there has to be some photos or videos of him. Or like those edits people make of older celebrities and the younger version of them.
Just saying, they would have the videos to make an edit. 🤷♀️
And yeah, maybe people don't really give a shit about him since he's not like an actor or musician or influencer or whatever, but people make edits of random, semi famous people all the time so it's possible that one or two people have made one.

“I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU BUCKY!” you shout as you stomp past him and toward the bedroom. “You know those are my favorite and I really need some right now!”
He’s hot on your heels, his soft apologies already flowing past his lips.
“Baby doll, I’m sorry! Don’t be mad.”
When you step into the bedroom you grab the door and slam it shut and lock it.
“Doll…”
He shakes and turns the knob several times before his head thuds against the door.
“You locked me out,” he says woefully.
“You deserve it,” you answer, crossing your arms in a huff and sitting on the bed.
“Please open the door doll face,” he asks.
“No.”
You hear the shuffle of his receding footsteps and let out a long exhale, your shoulders slumping as you mutter under your breath.
Just as you start to get comfy you hear the sliding and shifting of paper and a movement at the door catches your eye.
A white sheet of paper appears from under the small space at the bottom of the door.
“I’m sorry, can I come in?” is scrawled across it in Bucky’s handwriting.
“No,” you huff, falling backwards on the bed.
More crinkling and folding.
You sit up with a roll of your eyes, his long fingers pushing the next piece of paper under the door and holding it against the bottom of the frame.
“Pretty Please!!!”
“No way Buck!”
Before he can try to pull the newest note away, Alpine’s white paws slide under the door and start to grab at it, flicking it this way and that before he sinks his claws in and tries to rip it back his way.
You can’t stop your giggle.
More frenzied crinkling and shuffling of paper.
“I heard that! Come on doll, let me in!”
The newest note appears and your smile turns into a frown.
“No. But Alpine can come in!” you answer.
As if on cue Alpine’s white paws slip back under the bottom of the door and start to knead the paper.
“Come on buddy,” you coo. “I know you can fit under!”
You see his pink nose next but as quickly as it appears it’s gone when Bucky carefully pulls him away.
“HEY!” you shout.
Another note.
“I can’t believe you won’t let me in doll :(“
“Yea well, I can’t believe you finished off my cookies without even leaving me ONE! You’re not coming in!”
Bucky’s metal fingers slip under the door to feel around for the paper and the thin rays of sunlight that dance across the floor brighten them, especially the gold band that’s wrapped around his ring finger.
He gets a hold of the paper and pulls it back to his side.
“I said let me in! ><”
“Not happenin’ Buck. And gimme the cat!”
Alpine meows and you see his paws again as they scratch at the rug with a stretch.
The last piece of paper slides under.
You let out a horrified gasp.
On it is drawn a hand with a very long middle finger sticking straight up.
In your renewed anger you frantically search for an object, any object and the first thing you see is your stuffed white wolf on the bed.
You take it and throw it hard at the door.
“I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU BARNES! Now you’re never coming in!”
Silence.
You walk over and pick up your wolf, cuddling it to your chest.
“I can’t believe him!” You mumble into the fluffy stuffed animal. “How rude!”
When you hear the jingle of the doorknob and some loud banging your eyebrows draw inward and you cock your head to listen.
“What the….? Bucky?”
There’s more clanking and noisy shifting before the door pops off the hinges to reveal a smirking Bucky.
He stalks toward you with purpose, pulling the wolf from your hands and dropping him on the bed.
“That was easy,” he grins.
“You’re an asshole!” you sniff. “You gave your wife the middle finger!”
“You give it to me all the time,” he retorts, taking a step closer.
“Well…that’s different!” you huff, clenching your fists at your sides.
“How?” he asks, slowly backing you toward the wall.
“It just is Buck!”
You widen your eyes and push out your bottom lip.
“Aw baby doll,” he murmurs, his eyes dropping to your mouth as his thumb softly brushes over your lip. “I’m sorry. I’ll buy you all the cookies you want forever!”
“And promise to never eat them all again!” you say, sticking your finger into his chest.
“Promise,” he smiles. “As long as you promise never to give me the finger again!”
“Never gonna happen,” you admit.
“I don’t know about those cookies then….”
“BUCKY!!!” you whine, trying to hide your smile. “You are the worst husband ever! First you eat all my cookies…then you basically tell me to fuck off! UGH!”
“You mean the best husband ever!” he counters, closing the distance between you and lining his body up with yours.
“Worst,” you sing, lifting your chin defiantly.
“Best,” he answers back, taking your chin between his metal fingers and bringing your eyes level with his.
“You don’t have a leg to stand on Barnes! You know I’m right,” you tell him as you slide your palms up his chest.
“Best,” he repeats, lifting his flesh hand to cradle your face and bring it closer to his.
“Not if you don’t get me my cookies,” you whisper, grabbing the chain of his dog tags.
His nose skims your cheek before his lips lightly brush against yours.
“Best ever…” is the last thing he says before his lips steal any other words you have.
