Lavender
Lavandula officinalis
Known as: Elf leaf, nard, nardus & spike
Related plants: A member of the mint family Lamiaceae, there are genus of 47 known species of lavender. It includes well known plants such basil, mint, rosemary, sage, savory, marjoram, oregano, hyssop, thyme, lavender, and perilla, as well as catnip, salvia, bee balm, wild dagga & oriental motherwort.
Parts used: Flowers
Habitat and cultivation: This flowering plant is native to the the Mediterranean
Plant type: Perennial
Region: Most are hardy from Zones 5 to 9 | Spanish Lavender (L. stoechas) is only hardy in Zones 7 to 9.
Harvest: You can harvest all the budding spikes or flowers on your plant during the growing season but avoid cutting into woody growth. Don't want to take more than 1/3 of the plant at this time & limiting your harvest to flowers and buds should keep you within recommended limits. As first frost approaches, snip off woody, leafy stems & branching. You can safely take up to 2/3 of the plant at this time. Harvesting too early can stimulate more growth which you don't want since the lavender is moving into winter dormancy.
Growing tips: To grow lavender successfully it needs well-drained soil, full sun & may be a good idea to check the PH beforehand because soil too acidic may kill off your plants. It survives well in dry conditions, so you'll only have to water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. Plant lavender in spring, once all chances of frost have passed. This beautiful, fragrant herb is a great addition to raised beds, in-ground gardens, and growing in containers spacing plants 12 to 18 inches apart.
Medicinal information: Taking lavender products by mouth, including teas and a specific oil supplement or inhaling lavender oil as aromatherapy, seem to reduce symptoms of depression & anxiety. Lavender oil is believed to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to heal & burns & bug bites. Some studies suggest that consuming lavender as a tea can help digestive issues such as vomiting, nausea, intestinal gas, upset stomach, & abdominal swelling. A study published in the Journal of Medical Microbiology found that lavender oil could be effective in combating antifungal-resistant infections. Using it as aromatherapy can also reduce colic symptoms & menstrual cramp pain.
Cautions: Lavender essential oil is possibly safe when inhaled as aromatherapy, but applying products that contain lavender oil to the skin is possibly unsafe for young cis males who haven't reached puberty. The oil seems to have hormone-like effects that could disrupt normal hormones & in some cases, this has resulted in breast growth.
Lavender might cause sleepiness and slowed breathing. Taking lavender with sedative medications might cause breathing problems and/or too much sleepiness.
Lavender might slow down the central nervous system. If used with anesthesia and other medications given during and after surgery, it might slow down the central nervous system too much. Stop using lavender at least 2 weeks before a scheduled surgery.

Dream Spell Satchet
Dream spells are some of the first spells I've ever done and the ones that I have the most success with. Here is my recipe (generally).
Herbs:
Lavender (calm and protection)
Chamomile (sleep and calm)
Mugwort (psychic abilities and connecting with the divine)
Vervain (sleep and psychic abilities)
Rosemary (for remembering dreams)
Crystals:
Selenite (sleep)
Amethyst (psychic protection)
Clear Quartz (to amplify spell)
Miscellaneous:
2 bags or cloths and string for the sachet (preferably black, blue, white, or purple, but anything on hand will work!)
candle (can be the same colors as the bag but anything will work)
paper and pen
lavender essential oil (can use a sleep blend or chill pill, something that will calm you to sleep)
Set up:
I like to do my spellwork on top of mirrors so that the mirrored image of the spell is on there, but this isn't necessary. I usually do spell work with an offering, so I will offer incense or water to whichever god I'm working with before spellwork. For dreamwork I mostly work with Tehuti and Nut. Do whatever you need to do to prepare yourself for spellwork and make sure you have all items on hand.
Steps:
Incense and water offering with prayer
Light the candle
Add all herbs to one bag or cloth. (I like to use ones that don't have any holes). Say aloud what each herb's purpose is. Tie the bag and place it inside the other bag.
Add the selenite and the amethyst to the larger bag, saying aloud the purpose of each stone.
Draw symbols of dreams/the gods that you would like. I always draw the Eye of Ra and Horus. I also usually draw an ibis for Tehuti. I've also done some stars for Nut in the past. You can also make sigils if you'd like.
Write a petition with a prayer for what you want. *(I'll add an example below.) Fold the petition towards you however many times you'd like. I usually do three or four. On the last fold, don't center the fold so that one edge is over the body of the paper. Use the wax to seal the petition. Blow on it and/or add spit to set the wax. (I like to use spit for the creative properties and to make the spell "mine.")
Add the papers to the spell
Add the clear quartz, saying aloud the purpose for it.
Tie off the bag, then add the essential oil to it.
Place under your pillow and drift off to dreamland.
Mundane ways to help you dream more:
Take melatonin, drink or smoke mugwort before bed.
Cut back on drugs and alcohol
Keep a dream journal beside your bed and write down any dreams you had the second you wake up
Before you fall asleep at night, think of a different dream that you had that you remember
Set an alarm 1-2 hours before you wake up to wake you up slightly before falling back asleep again (this one works like a charm for me)
Keep a consistent sleep schedule
*Example Petition:
Dua Tehuti, You Who keeps all the great secrets,
May I be your student and learn Your great knowledge.
As I close my eyes to sleep, my dreams will be vivid,
When I open my eyes to wake, my dreams will be remembered.
Dua Tehuti, You who is great of heka, Who's words make it so,
Let this be so!

Do you know anything about satchets? I'm a baby witch and am wanting to make something for my partner (who's also Catholic!), something that can represent love, safety and friendship, and longevity for our future family. I want to rpay over each item and light a candle, but other than colors and runes, I don't know anything about witchy meanings for herbs, crystals and charms. And finding a guide is proving to be very difficult :(
Let’s see…
Theses books that I like to recommend is Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs and The Spellcaster’s Reference by Eileen Holland. Both are good books for a jumping off point and doing research on certain things you want to work with.
That said, here’s what I would do if I was making this sachet.
Bright green bag
Day: 1st hour after sunrise on a Thursday
Ingredients:
Love: Jasmine, Rose, Lavender
Friendship: Lemon
Happiness: Dragons Blood, Lavender
Peace: Gardenia
Items:
Picture or prayer card of Holy Family
Picture of you and significant other
Holy spirit candle
Make sure you purify all of your items before you put in the bag. Then hold the bag between your hands and say a prayer for what the sachet is for. Lite the candle and I would put a picture next to the candle, then put the sachet either under picture or the candle. Hopefully this will help you get started and if you have any more questions you can privately dm me if you want.💕

The Marauders Taking Care Of A Tired Partner
I'm astronomically tired today. I worked a fucking double and got woken up early do now I can't sleep, and I just want someone to take care of me. Also these can be interpreted as friendly instead of romantic for the aromantics out there.
James
He is far too hyper to understand what sleep is tbh
He tries though he really does I swear, he probably takes you to the Gryffindor common room or uses the room of requirement as a place to help you sleep
The Gryff common room is warm and cozy with the big ass fireplace they have and he'd wrap you in a burrito to be even cozier. He leaves your feet out though cuz those things get toasty
For the room of requirement, he basically just makes it a large ass pillow fort from the inside, it's very nice and is 10/10 for snuggles.
Speaking of, he's a cuddler, but if you're not then he 1000% respects that.
Might bring you hot cocoa or tea if he remembers
Sirius
Like James he is touchy and a cuddler, and cuddles help him fall asleep, so if you need contact to sleep he's a go to.
Would probably give you one of his jackets and a warm drink then carry you off to your bed.
He tucks you/you both in and he puts your head on his chest or he just talks to you
Also a fan of just singing people to sleep, he got a nice voice
Might tell you random stories he remembers reading to Regulus, but most of the time he bullshits them because he can't remember how they go anymore
Remus
He reads to you, since that's what his mom did to help him. Especially close to the full moon
Will makes sure to give you a drink before bed, and probably some cookies or chocolate if you want it
Probably gives you a satchet of lavender, and chamomile or something. Just some nice pleasing scents
Not a big fan of cuddles so he is not a go to when it comes to contact, but he will let you sleep on him
Like on his shoulder or like resting your head on his lap while he's reading or studying, he's fine with that
Also a fan of using the room of requirement, makes it into a nice outdoorsy space. Probably with some trees and a hammock. That or he makes just a nice room where it's raining outside.
Peter
Lol you thought. He kind of laughs at you, might give you a potion to actually help you, but that's it
Okay but for real though since Peter fans are out there and need to eat. Peter is a dumbass first and foremost, not entirely dumb, just a dumbass
He might not notice how tired you are at first until you pass out. He'd yelp cuz "oh my god you just collapsed onto the floor"
Would tuck you into bed or by the fireplace and might read to you or study next to you while you sleep (he has bad grades but he really does try his hardest not to)
When you wake up he'll apologize for not noticing, he's just oblivious, and grab something from the kitchens for you as an apology
Lily
Brushes your hair (if you have any. Some people rock the bald look), she might give you a back massage
Big fan of humming and it can go either way with cuddles
If someone tries to wake you up she shooshes them, might threaten them too (especially James)
She'll ask you if you want a drink and then get one for you, she's not gonna get you something of you won't drink it. It's wasteful
Might give you a stuffed animal as a cuddle replacement since she keeps a bear she got when she was five. It's from Petunia and it's the only thing that reminds her of the days before she became despised by her. It's very special
Regulus
Reads to you as well, again, Sirius did it with him and he's out like a light when he gets read to
He might take you outside, which I should explain this.
I like to imagine if you and Regulus are close, you guys have secret meetups in a little tent that you guys set up (you set it up, it was your idea), you guys read to each other classic literature and steal snacks from the kitchen and you stay up all night just chilling
So he takes you to the tent or the astronomy tower, depends on the time of day
Lets you lay on his chest and might fall asleep with you because he is perpetually tired. (In his nightmares he can see his demise)
You guys might have brought a music player of sorts to the tent so if you're there you guys play some jazz or something relaxing

Are there any spells to help with sleep? I have had extreme sleep problems recently, and I need a way to remedy this
Recommend checking the sleep spell tag, but a pouch of lavender and other herbs that promote peace and restfulness under your pillow can help. There are also spells to promote good dreams that may be of help. Some of these links may be useful for inspiration:
No More Nightmares
Sweet Dreams
Fall Asleep Sigil
Dream Satchet

Self love, healing and cleansing bath. Keep away the negativity and starting new beginnings! In my satchet I have lemon grass, Basil, lavender flower buds , Lilly flower, rose petals, and lemon slices. My essential oils I chose for this particular bath are rose, cherry blossom, Rosemary, and just a couple drops of peppermint. Any kind of salt will work , my favorite is the Epsom salt with lavender 😍💕 . I also like to place some of my favorite crystals directly in the bath as I'm cleansing . I also added a little splash of moon water 🌕💦🛀. It is a lot and many of these items can be cut out and or substituted with other things as well! (Most cleansing baths I don't even go this all out, just when I feel I really need it)

DragonMom,
I have stopped dreaming. I am unsure exactly why, maybe the stress of a global pandemic, but this has cut off nearly 7/8ths of my spiritual practices. I have a Sun Opener plant I have been cultivating for this, but it is to young to harvest. Do you have any suggestions for me?
-WA
Everyone who sleeps normally dreams every night. We don’t remember the majority of our dreams. If you don’t reach the sleep stage where you dream, that’s a sleep disorder and it’ll show up in fatigue and insomnia.
Start with dream journaling. Keep a dedicated journal within reach of your bed and when you do dream, write it down before your feet ever touch the floor. That will improve your ability to recall dreams over time. It also allows you read back and look for patterns that can reveal things about your subconscious.
White opal under your pillow or on your person can promote psychic dreams. Lavender and hops also promote restful sleep and dreaming. Lavender oil on your pillow or a satchet of dried lavender and hops under or in your pillow.
You should also begin a meditation practice.

Witchcraft for Depressed People✨
If you suffer any form of mental illness, every day tasks can be hard enough let alone also adding magic into that mix. It’s not impossible at all if you make sure to pace yourself and take breaks when necessary
Low Effort Tips:
• Write your intent for the day on a bay leaf and burn it completely. Dump the ashes outside. This is a fast acting manifestation
• Lavender incense and Lavender oil are both different forms of aromatherapy and have fragrant properties to lift your spirits when you feel down
• Sometimes it can be hard to get out of bed. You can keep calming satchets under your pillow to make this less mentally painful
• Draw and charge sigils on the tag of your pillow for protection or motivation when you feel like you cant get out of bed
• If it’s legal where you live and you are of age, marajuana is a wonderful herbal remedy. It can be ingested through tea and edible baked goods or smoked (dont be afraid to add a little lavender either)
• Charge hygiene products such as toothpaste and deodorant with specific intents using sigil work or elemental magic so that self care feels like spellwork and appears more appealing
• Think of taking a shower as a cleansing ritual (it genuinely is) and a bath as making one big self care potion with yourself as the main ingredient. Mindset is everything and when you are depressed sometimes hygiene can feel like a chore. Make it feel like magic. When youre down all the time and haven’t bathed in a while all of that negative energy will build.

Hello lovelies! . Apparently, bath sets for feb 14th is a well-liked idea. Cotton yarn in... those colours are ordered and ready for pick-up. Lavendar, flax, and rice are ordered for sachets. I haven't fully decided which of the last two items I'm adding to the lavender. Because why shouldn't they double as a small heating pad? Sadly the lavendar isn't local because the farm sells their own handmade products and I can't get flowers in bulk with them. . I'm also trying to reach out to my local farms to see if anyone will partner with me to add soaps and/or lotions to the sets. I can technically add them so long as I legally buy them, I believe. But I still want permission. . Night lovelies! . https://www.etsy.com/shop/MamaChatDesigns . . . . . #maine #mainemade #buylocal #handmade #bathsets #soap #lavendar #satchet #valentinesday #shop #supplyshopping (at Bangor, Maine) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKEiavQL8jR/?igshid=123o65798go3q

Prophetic Dream Spell~
Tumblr media
Hey witch-fam! I received an abundance of love and support on my last dream spell post, and after much success on my latest one, I knew I had to share again!
What you’ll need:
White fabric
Black thread
Light blue candle
Lavender flowers
Bay leaf
Thyme
Sage
Poppy seed
Lemongrass oil
Himalayan pink salt
Black salt (optional)
Lavender oil (optional)
Sandalwood incense (optional)
A wand (optional)
Amethyst (optional)
This spell should be done just before bed ❄️
Start by cleansing your work space, lighting your incense and casting a circle. During this time you may also call upon any deities/spirits that you work with (if you don’t work with the devine, that’s okay too!). Once your circle is casted, find a comfortable place to meditate. Ground and center yourself, clear your mind. It’s important to be in a neutral headspace, or else a defining emotion could possibly alter the dream.
Start by lighting your blue candles (I used a light blue candle, along with my usual white pillar candles). Grab your white fabric and lay it flat, holding one corner down with your candle. Use the charred end of a stubbed out incense stick or a dampened ash to draw a pentacle onto the fabric. Then pour a few droplets of melted blue was onto the fabric, like the photo below.
Tumblr media
Add three drops each of lemongrass oil and lavender oil. As they seep into the fabric, focus on your intention. Once the oils have infused with your fabric, begin adding the lavender flowers, thyme, sage, bay leaf and poppy seed.
Add salt for protection. I also used a pinch black salt to banish potential nightmares from negative energies that might be lingering.
When everything has been added, bring the edges of your fabric together to create a homemade satchet, being careful not to spill. Use a long piece of black threat to carefully twine the opening closed and seal the loose ends of the thread with melted blue candle wax.
Tumblr media
This step is optional but I always seal a spell with my wand by circling the satchet three times. While doing this, I used a chant:
come together, open the eyes. in my dreams, may i prophecy.
Tap your wand against your homemade satchet thrice to set the spell.
Pin the satchet to the wall above your bed wherever your head will be under. Now would be the best time to close your circle, put out any candles you may have lit and get cozy. Stay away from distracting things like phones or TV, keep yourself in a somewhat meditative state while you get ready for sleep. I recommend playing soft instrumentals! I also recommend sleeping with an amethyst. I placed my amethyst cluster on my bedside table and set my palm over it until I fell asleep.
I hope this spell works for anyone who tries it! I was met with some powerful dreams over the past few nights that my satchet has been over my pillows ✨ Blessed be, everyone! Happy witching~

Some simple positivity and self love magic 💖♥️
Now,something I told myself when I made this account was I would keep my personal life off it... and I probably will for the most part, but a (now) mutual made a post I saw and it hit home because of my personal life and my past.
I’m polyamorous, I have two wonderful and beautiful partners and something the three of us all struggle with is pain from our pasts. I also left a heavily abusive and toxic relationship almost a year ago and have since had to pick up all the shattered pieces of myself and my heart from that.
That relationship left me disabled, literally. I will never fully know if it was the abuse I went through or the neurological condition I have that left me in a wheelchair, but I’m pretty sure it was more what my ex did to me.
This ex is the reason I put a protective spell on my heart I’ve spent the last while trying to undo and the reason I’ve become well versed in positivity and self love spells.
So for those of you who are healing from heartbreak, struggling with the darkness of this time or just need a small reminder of some basics to bigger spells that are still pretty novice friendly.
Light a positivity/self love candle. I have a small collection of orange and rose tea light candles and before bed each night, I light one and watch the flame dance and how beautifully it reflects around the room.
Stir love and light into your tea/coffee. If you have syrups, look into the meanings for each one and add that. I have Turkish Delight (rose) syrup for my coffee or hot chocolate as a self love, chamomile for calm and positivity, vanilla for puritfication and peace, mint for protection. Stir clockwise to bring forth, anti-clockwise to send away. I tend to draw a pentacle as well and call upon the elements, water to cleanse, air to send my intention, earth to ground me and fire to warm my soul/heart.
Bake something positive to you. I love food, it’s not a secret, I’m a bit of a kitchen witch. I make my family’s Russian Toffee for most ‘self love’ spells, it reminds me of Christmas and watching practical magic and of laughing with my siblings and home. These memories make it perfect for happiness spells. I also recommend The Green Witch on YouTube for some kitchen witch spells and she has a tutorial for a self love satchet that’s super pretty. I have a lot of recipes tagged under #recipies and #recipes (and we’re going to pretend it started with a pun and not a spelling mistake), they’re not mine so credit to the witches I reblogged them from.
Sigils are a great way to bring positivity and self love into your life if food isn’t your thing or isn’t enough, there’s plenty here or on Pinterest or make your own, you’re a beautiful and wonderful witch with plenty of power, remember that and use it.
Sunshine or moonlight is also a great way to recharge and focus your energy.
Glamours. I have pretty bad dysphoria regularly and I tend to regularly apply glamours. I’m also a makeup artist by trade so that helps, but there’s little things that help. I apply skincare as a form of self love and protection, as I protect and heal my skin, I protect and heal the wounds I feel from my past. As I apply concealer, I cover and protect myself from external judgement. Mascara helps me see the beauty and prevents others seeing a distorted view of me. Lipstick or lipbalm makes my words heard and prevents confusion. My jewellery becomes armour, protection from external forces, covering me from negativity and preventing harm. These little things help a lot.
Bath magic, I actually prefer showers most of the time because I use them as a cleansing ritual so I’ll have them before and after a bath anyway because I tend to feel gross (sensory issues, yay) but I do tend to have a bath on a full moon with bath tea (rose and lavender normally, sometimes thyme for protection) with four lit candles for the elements (and a scented candle for fun and to represent my own power). There’s lots of different forms of self love and positivity bath spells so I recommend doing your research, but remember to be very careful what you put in your bath and don’t use essential oils, you can easily google the reactions people have had and understand why I don’t want them near your skin. I was a beauty therapist before I was disabled, I was trained in skincare and makeup and holistic approaches from a natural standpoint, please remember the essential oils and aroma therapy oils are different and they shouldn’t be used on your skin or ingested (Dottera specifically really walks the line on illegal claims btw, they’re dangerous and I don’t support them at all).
Meditation. Wether you find sitting in a quiet space and observing your thoughts or going for a walk helpful, the act of meditation and looking after yourself is really important, especially in this time. Meditation to me is the act of calming and knowing oneself and the basis to most magic and the calmest form of shadow work, it’s important to acknowledge who you are and how you feel and take that time to find peace with yourself and begin the process of loving yourself. It’s a long journey but it’s worth it, every step of the way. So channel your inner Uncle Iroh (yeah, I’ve been obsessing over TLA lately) and make some tea and relax in a space that fills you with as much peace as you can find.
Feel free to reblog and add anything else you feel I missed or that you use and would like to share with other witches and please feel free to message or ask me questions at anytime.
May you all find self love and positivity even in these hard times. ✨
