Academic advice that you must remember while you follow the "aesthetic"
romanticising school and studies by using aesthetics (i.e. Dark academia, art academia, chaotic academia, etc) is really helpful for motivation, but there are many things you must keep inmind
★ Stop romanticism of insomnia. I mostly blame dark academia fanatics for this (not all, but most). in order to remember what you have studied properly as the brain absorbs the information you studied while your sleeping and it maintains a good mental health. Put an end to the "sleep is for the weak" mindset. Cause no sleep actually makes you weak.
Tumblr media
★ stop worrying about not having aesthetic notes with colourful pens, heading and doodles like you see in the "study with me videos". It doesn't matter how it looks, as long as you understand, that's the whole point of having notes in the first place. To study, it's not an assignment or project for you to spent hours switching between pens and markers.
Partly people are so deep focused on making everything look "aesthetic" and forget to study, which was supposed to be the main priority.
★ if you get a bad grade once in a while, don't get demotivated. Sometimes no matter how hard you study you won't get the result you want, it might sound cliché but all you can do is try again. No matter how good someone's grades are, these is always a moment where they get a low grade for wherever reason, instead of taking that as a cue to give up, take it as an opportunity to bounce back
(remember, some study hacks may work for some people but it won't work for everyone, so try to find a method that's best suitable for you)
★ Put you phone away when your studying, it's a huge distraction (wow mom was right) now, if your study materials are in your phone or you study through YouTube, then i suggest you turn off you notifications of social media apps (i.e YouTube, Instagram and even Tumblr)
Also not a study advice, but avoid using your phone when your eating, pls it's for you own good, and stop creating fake scenarios when you sleep, it's the reason you can't sleep dummy

dark academia on a poor university student budget
Because tuition is expensive and my job doesn't pay much.
•─•°•❀•°•─•
Letter-writing. Decorate the margins with simple doodles that you know they'd appreciate. Find your own, distinctive sign-off. (You can also do this online by customising emails, Google Docs links, etc.)
Libraries. Campus libraries and their hum of student chatter. Once they begin to get too loud for your liking, visit a public library and study amongst the towering shelves.
Thrifting. Slowly phase old porcelain tableware into your kitchen. Walk to class in a gently-battered long coat. Thumb through copies of classics with worn corners and an old love note on the inside cover. Especially if you find an ornate teacup or mug that you can keep at your study space to be completely yours.
Make it yourself. Press flowers between heavy books and use them as decoration in your journal or sketchbook. Cut up some scrap paper and make bookmarks with your favourite book quotes.
Explore. Wander around public parks in your favourite pullover or blazer, taking photos or sketching whatever it is that catches your interest. Investigate back corridors and secret passages on your campus.
Read all those books in your TBR. (I know you have a lot on there.)
Journal, write, sketch, paint, compose... indulge in whatever creative respite you choose. Create.

Advice for planning your story
Plotting out a story is an essential step in bringing your ideas to life and creating a compelling narrative. Here are some valuable tips that I personally find helpful to effectively plot out new story ideas <3
1. Start with the basics: Begin by identifying the key elements of your story – the main characters, setting, and central conflict. Understand who your characters are, what they want, and what obstacles they will face. This foundation will serve as a solid starting point for your plot.
2. Outline the major plot points: Once you have a clear understanding of your story's foundation, outline the major plot points. These are the significant events or turning points that drive the story forward. Consider the introduction, inciting incident, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. This structure will give your story a sense of direction and progression.
3. Create a timeline: Develop a timeline or sequence of events that organizes the flow of your story. This helps you visualize the progression of events and ensures a logical and coherent narrative. Consider the cause-and-effect relationship between different plot points and how they impact your characters' journey.
4. Use storyboarding or visual aids: Visual aids, such as storyboards or visual diagrams, can be helpful for visual thinkers. Create a visual representation of your story's structure, mapping out the key scenes, character arcs, and plot developments. This can provide a clear overview and help you spot any gaps or inconsistencies.
5. Balance pacing and tension: As you plot out your story, consider the pacing and tension. Ensure that your story has a good balance of slower, introspective moments and high-stakes, action-packed sequences. Introduce obstacles and conflicts that keep readers engaged and eager to turn the pages.
6. Allow for flexibility: While it's important to have a solid plot outline, don't be afraid to deviate or adapt as you write. Sometimes, characters surprise you or new ideas emerge during the creative process. Stay open to these possibilities and be willing to adjust your plot if it serves the story better.
7. Revise and refine: Plotting is an iterative process. Once you have a draft of your plot, review it critically. Look for areas that may need more development, pacing adjustments, or additional conflict. Refine your plot to ensure it aligns with your overall story vision.
Remember, plotting is a guide, not a rigid framework. It's there to help you stay organized and focused, but don't be afraid to let your creativity flow and explore unexpected avenues. With practice and experimentation, you'll become more adept at plotting out your story ideas and creating narratives that captivate readers <3

some fake dating rivals to lovers prompts
feel free to use :)
“just act like you love me.” “are you insane?”
they’re partnered up for a year-long project and have to stick together because it’s worth like 40% of their grade
one character is 100% a goody two shoes and the other is a complete delinquent ; their teacher asks the goody two shoes to help the delinquent out (think charity) and the delinquent knows becoming close w the straight a student will guarantee a better track record so they decide to fake date
they dislike each other in the first place because they’re always tying in competitions and awards for honour students
similarly they dislike each other because they’re like carbon copies of each other especially when it comes to academics
they dislike each other because of the people they each respectively hang around & the views those people have
“…. that’s possibly the worst idea i’ve ever heard.” “because you’re sooooo well known for your good ideas.”
“if i can help you… and you can help me… let’s fake date.”
both characters having different reasons for agreeing to date and the moment where they realize they were in it for completely different reasons… what happens then
“tell me. that this was just about you getting another tick off your bulletin list.”
“i don’t care about that stupid score anymore! i don’t care that everyone knows we were pretending to date Goddammit i just need you to talk to me!”
“isn’t it just that you’ve always thought you were better than me?”
“why did you even agree to date me if you thought i was that type of person?” “oh for God’s sake we were fake dating! it was never real!”
“maybe it was supposed to be like this from the beginning.” “… like what?” “i don’t know. maybe we were never supposed to hate each other.”
the confession moment of “i never hated you, you were just someone i couldn’t get close to because my academics were at stake” <3333
there are more at the bottom of this post.

ᴛʏᴘᴇs ᴏғ 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 ɪɴ ᴀɴᴄɪᴇɴᴛ ɢʀᴇᴇᴄᴇ
Ancient Greeks divided love in different categories due to their need to classify and give a name to everything. They had eight different types of love:
’αγάπη (agapē): unconditional love, mental, sometimes it can be not reciprocated
φιλία (philia): affection between friends, parents
ερως (érōs): physical love, it's about the sexual aspect; something that cannot be satiated (it doesn't necessarily have to be satisfied)
αντέρως (antérōs): reciprocated love, there’s a bond
’ιμεροσ (hī́meros): unstoppable love (it must be satisfied)
πόθος (póthos): desire (imaginary, dreamed)
στοργή (storgḗ): tender love, sweet (family love)
θέλημα (thélēma): devotion (love for what you do)
Let me know if you like this type of post and if you want me to do more.

Hi there.
Someone once told me that it's easier to talk to a stranger rather than somebody you know.
And they're right.
Sometimes, to navigate life, you need a little push. A sign that you're going in the right direction. Sometimes, to navigate life, you need a gentle reminder that you're not alone. And you aren't, really. There will always be someone who will understand, even when it doesn't feel like it. There will always be someone who's willing to listen.
My inbox is open for you. Tell me what you're feeling. Especially when it's hard.
I hope that my words might bring comfort to you.

I'm exhausted after walking there and back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just feel tired and want to get a good night's sleep no earlier than 9:30 PM, not 10:30 PM. I didn't do much studying from home, but it's clear that my chance of rejuvenating my stress levels turned into a narcissistic tantrum by a womanchild with a hint of being apologetic.
Why me?

Word of advice for troublemaking rebels to romanticize school:
Don't cause trouble and tamper with the school rules - If you start acting rebellious and breach the school policy, you can get suspended "or worse, expelled" in the words of Hermoine Granger. Always stick with the rules and crack on with your work.
Stay up-to-date with your modules, at home or uni - Make a study schedule when you want to get started on your next module. Gather some research for said module and you're all set.
Sleep earlier than late - Plan a sleep schedule when you want to go to bed before the next school day. Think of it as a school night, 9:30 pm for example, for grown adults who want to get through the next day of studying.
Balance your agenda of work and rest - Don't let work take over the productivity scale over rest. Balance your schedule between work and break at the same time on the same day.
