I'm going to be withholding judgment until i have Batman 138 in my digital hands (and possibly be exceptionally generous and wait until a week after Gotham War has wrapped) but, based solely on those previews... what the fuck?
Like I recognize that, to Bruce, Jason is an impossible problem. But even still this feels like an exceptionally bad solution.

Note
adding to my last ask, the rest of the album is so similar to the Batfam
Loves like Ghosts - Batcat or BruTalia
Until the Night Turns - Dick (the vibes esp)
Dead Man’s Hand - Jason
-> pretty obvious why 💀. I see it as Jason talking abt his old self with the “tired of a life that never felt like his” line
Hurricane (Johnnie’s theme) - Dick, Jason, and Steph(Cass)
-> I mostly saw it as Stephcass but there were definitely lyrics that applied to Dick (thrill) and Jason (dying lol)
La Bella Fleur Sauvage - DickBabs
The World Ender - Steph (with the romantic lines being shaded between Cass and Gotham) or Jason (with the romantic lines being completely abour Gotham)
-> I feel like it fits Jason better bc it’s literlaky abour being back from the grave but alas
Meet Me in the Woods - Tim(Bern)
The Yawning Grave - ALFRED AND BRUCE ALFRESH AND BRUCE. This is so important to me omg
Cursed - where “she” is Gotham and the speaker is any of the Batfam (sans Cass I think)
Way out There - Damian (“I’m just wearing old bones from those who came first”) (“you” being Dick) or StephCass from Cass’s pov
The Night We Met - the BatSiblings (sans Duke bc he wasn’t adopted yet) during Bruce’s death
There weren’t any I could connect to Duke specifically but yeah 😞
Loves Like Ghost definitely gives of Talia to Bruce vibes. The lyrics of "what ain't living can never really die. You don't want me baby please don't lie. Oh but if you're leaving, I gotta know why." "And if I can't have you then no one ever will." "Baby in my eyes you do no wrong. I don't feel it till it hurts sometimes. So go on baby hurt me tonight."
Until the Night Turns is a cool song. Perhaps you would elaborate more on why you think it fits Dick? The vibes are pretty on, but jot too sure about the lyrics.
Dead Man's Hand does fit Jason. "Sure as hell he was dead as they come and he was already starting to smell. Just a kid with his hair slicked back and a knife tucked into his belt. Was he unforgiven or just tired of living a life that never felt like his?" "I know I'm dead but I don't wanna lie in a grave out here where the coyote's cry. I stared right into the endless void and I ain't going back if I got any choice. I know how to live, I don't know how to die and there ain't no thrills in the afterlife."
Hurricane. I do think that all of the batkids are adrenaline junkies but I do see how the lyrics fit those ones especially.
La Bella Fleur Savage - Google says Fleur means both flower and resilience. I can see how that fits Babs and how the song resembles her love with Dick.
The World Ender - I love this song for Steph. She deserves to get her revenge. She did kind of die with Black Mask, but she didn't really do a revenge thing like Jason. On the other hand she "won't ever feel the embrace of the grave" because she revived before being buried.
Meet Me in the Woods - I see how this is TimBern especially because Bernard isn't in the vigilante business (so he won't really understand what Tim's been through).
The Yawning Grave - Alfred warning Bruce not to become Batman, of its dangers, of the likelihood of him dying, fits so well. He told him when he was a kid, but Bruce still went down with this path
Cursed - I agree that Cass isn't tied to Gotham like the others. If "she" was Gotham, that does fit the others. I raise you, though. What if "she" was their mission or vigilantism? That then fits all of them.
Way out There - Oof. That definitely fits Damian and I love that analysis of him.
The Night We Met - I agree, however, there's a tik tok that has an animation of this song. It absolutely kills my soul every time I see it. It has Bruce singing this about Jason: "I had all," Jason as Robin, "and then most of you," Jason dying, "some and," Jason's grave, "now none of you," Jason as Red Hood. "Take me back to the night we met." The tire jacking night.
We definitely need some Duke songs out there. If anyone has any songs that fit Duke, feel free to comment or reblog with them!!!!

so I was just scrolling throught your blog and I saw the fanfic of Jason in the room with the gas AND I NEED MORE. Like I know how Bruce reacted cause of the tags but I would like to know how Roy and Lian reacted to it if possible.
Sorry it took so long to reply, I was like oh I'll write a little thing for you from Roy's pov and then it ended up being like 4,500 words, so like, it may not be quick, but it is plentiful and should sustain your need lol
(Original post OP is talking about)
Tick. Tock.
Drip.
Tick. Tock.
Drip.
Even when the room is silent, there is so much noise. My brain feels clouded by the ticking of that stupid clock on the wall, the dripping of the IV. I can't lose Jay. I can't even stand to look at Jay in this condition.
I grab Jay's hand, intertwining our fingers, rubbing my thumb along his.
Please wake up. I need you. Please.
I bring our hands towards my lips and kiss his hand. I lower our hands and close my eyes.
Tick. Tock.
Drip.
I hear hurried footsteps pattering across tile. Then the door barges open. I open my eyes to find Bruce Wayne standing there, mouth ajar, staring at Jason on the bed.
Dick comes up behind him a few moments after. We make eye contact and he weak heartedly smiles. It's a little awkward, we kinda drifted apart a while ago, and we haven't really addressed the elephant in the room, which is me getting- um- close to his younger brother since after we drifted apart.
Bruce walks to the other side of Jason and sits in a chair, Dick walking to a chair right next to Bruce. Dick and I are right across from one another now, so I stare at Jay's hand again, entangled with my own.
Bruce is talking, worked up about something, but I don't listen to his words. I need to pick up Lian soon. She'll be surprised it's me picking her up. Usually Jay does that. Should I bring her here? No, I don't want to traumatize her. She shouldn't have to see Jay like this. Seeing him like this is the kinda thing that would stick with a child. She can just see him when he comes home- when he wakes up-
"Roy, are you listening?" Bruce says.
"I'm sorry, what?" My eyes dart up to the two of them, Bruce staring at me.
"I asked about arrangements after." Bruce says.
"After?" My brows come together and my nose scrunches. I look to Dick for help.
"After he wakes up," Dick clarifies for me.
"Oh." I say. I make eye contact with Bruce again. He takes it as a sign to keep talking.
"I just think it would be... best to have him stay at the manor during his recovery, a close watch might be best, besides, we can't have his medicine going... Missing."
"Bruce!" Dick turns to him. He meant he doesn't want me to steal any of his medicine. It's been years and yet, when all he knows is Green Arrow who last saw me when I was at my rock bottom, I suppose he thinks I will be too tempted, that it won't matter what kind of drugs, as long as it's drugs. That it won't matter that I've been clean for years. That it won't matter that I get scared just taking cough medicine or aspirin.
"Look, I don't mean any disrespect. I just want Jason to get better-"
"Me too." I cut in.
"So are we agreed then, the manor is the best thing for him."
"I- uh- I-" I let out a deep sigh, "Sure." I squeeze Jay's hand even harder. I dont feel like fighting with Bruce.
I look over at the clock. 45 minutes til she's done with school. How far away is it from Wayne Manor- I'm not usually here. I should probably leave early anyway to make sure I get there with time to spare, plus then I can get out of this unbearable talk with Bruce, no offense Jay.
"I need to pick up Lian," I say, standing up. Dick perks up.
"Oh, can I go with. I haven't seen Lian in forever, and," he looks over at Jay, "It's not like I'm doing much here."
"Oh- uh- sure." I say. Dick stands up.
I can't look at Jason, so I give his hand a squeeze, hoping it's enough; hoping even in his state, he understands.
I walk the halls with Dick at my side. The silence between us is deafening. I don't know how we are going to make it a whole car ride like this.
I get into the car, and then I unlock the doors, pulling out my phone for a gps. Dick opens the door, hopping in.
The address- what is the address of Lian's school. Can I just type in the name? That would make sense, it is a phone-
"I'm sorry about what Bruce said. He didn't mean it." I close my eyes and take a deep breath for a moment, then I go back to my phone, typing in Lian's school.
20 minutes away. I will have to spend- I look at the time. 19 minutes to in the car with Dick once we get there. Should I suggest we do something else in the mean time? No I really just want to see my daughter.
I start the car, getting out of Bruce's driveway, which should take up like 15 of the 20 minute drive, like who needs this big of a driveway.
At the end of his driveway, I offhandedly say, "You can put on any music you want." At least then it will fill the silence and we won't have to talk. But Dick makes no movement to put on music.
"So, what have the others been up to lately? Garth, Wally, and Diana," I say.
"Well, Garth is now the Tempest I think. He- um- I think he tried to go back to his tribe- Ideali- Idolic-"
"Idyllist, right?"
"yeah, that sounds right, but they um…"
"yeah, but also that's just the stupidest thing ever, purple eyes doesn't signify shit."
"right! Like I feel so bad for him. Imagine casting out your kid cause you don't like their eye color."
The conversation picks up from there, and it's actually an enjoyable car ride to the school.
"We still have like 15 minutes before I should go up there." I will give myself 4 minutes so I can make sure I'm out before she is.
"Oh?" Dick's words have more weight, a 'You left really early, something I have never known you to do, ya wanna talk about it'-ness to them.
"I- I can't stay there for long. It's so hard to look at him like this, I-"
"Yeah, like he's my brother, so I can imagine how hard it is for you, you guys are close friends." Wait- does... Does Dick not know me and Jay are married? Oh god, I don't think we told him or Bruce cause then we would have to tell them we didn't invite them to the wedding. I mean, we didn't invite Ollie either, but still- Dick has been my friend since the teen titans, and he's Jay's brother, but I don't wanna be the one to tell him. He's a detective, I'm sure he'll figure it out. Oh shit, he's still talking.
"- and I feel like you are probably one of the people who know Jason best, so this is probably hitting you harder than a lot of us." Dick finishes his sentence.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
"Tell me?"
"When Jay knocked on my door that day, I knew you and Bruce were falling apart, but he asked me not to tell you guys, and I didn't want him to run, so I took him in and I got clean and we worked on his anger, and we grew closer, and I don't know, I probably should have told you but I wanted him to tell you when he was ready, I didn't want to take that from him."
"I was not mad at you, if anything, I'm just glad he was safe and with someone I trust the whole time. And I get it, part of me knows it would not have gone so well if he came to Bruce right away."
"It was so hard to keep it from you though, every time we hung out, it was on the tip of my tongue, it was, like, about to burst out of me, I wanted to tell you so much."
"And that's why we stopped hanging out as much after."
"Yeah." My eyes dart down. I'm still kinda ashamed of myself, that I wasn't stronger. But then again, it felt like I was constantly lying to him, so maybe it was better I cut him off.
"I-" he glances over at the clock, "Oh, we should probably head up there." 5 minutes until she's done. 5 minutes until she asks about Jay. 5 minutes until I have to tell her everything.
"Yeah, let's go up." We get out of my car and walk up by the other parents who are waiting for their kids. I say hi to a few of the other parents, we have short conversations, a few ask about Jay, saying they thought he would be here. I tell them he got hurt so I came today.
When the bell rings, kids start filing out. A little girl with black hair comes out, and upon seeing me, says "Daddy? Daddy!" Before running up to me. I pick Lian up, hugging her. Then she leans back, swiveling her head around, searching.
"Where's Papa?" That's what she calls Jay.
"Papa?" Dick asks from behind me. Lian looks at him, confused who he is.
"Oh, Lian, this is Papa's brother, Dick." I say.
"You told me I'm not allowed to say that."
"No, Lian, it's not a bad word, it's his name." She looks Dick in the eyes.
"Your parents must not like you." I barely keep myself from laughing. I'm gonna have to tell Jay about this later.
"How about we go to the car." I wave at a few parents before turning around and walking towards the car, hoping Dick is following behind.
"Are we going to see Papa?"
"No, Papa is sick, so he's gonna be gone a few days."
"I thought when you are sick, you stay at home, not go out."
"Sometimes, but if it is really bad, you gotta go." I get to the car and unlock the doors. As Dick is getting in the passenger seat, I open the backseat door and set Lian in her carseat.
I get in the driver's seat and turn on the car, pulling out of the school and start on our short drive home.
"But guess who's coming over tonight?"
"Who?"
"Aunt Kori!" Dick's head turns so fast I'm afraid he'll break his neck. I don't know if he's seen her since the two of them broke up but I don't think he knew Jay and I were really close to her.
"Yay! When is she coming over, is she staying for dinner? Can I show her my toys?"
"I'm sure she would love to see your toys, and I don't know when she is getting here."
When I texted her that Jay got hurt, she said she will be over here by tonight. I told her he is not at our apartment, that he's in Wayne Manor's medical unit. She said she can wait for him here, and that 'besides, someone should entertain Lian so I can worry about Jay and I can go to work.'
Jay usually is at home when I am at work, so Kori figured someone should be here even when he's not. This is no where near the first time she's slept on the couch, she does it so often, she doesn't even have to ask anymore. We talked about getting a three room apartment so she can have her own room, but we are still looking for one that wouldn't move school districts so Lian wouldn't have to switch schools.
We get home, going to our floor, and Dick is following at our heels. When I get to the apartment, I don't need to unlock it, which means Kori is already here.
I walk in, and I can see she already set up on the couch, right next to our marriage license. We had to forge the marriage certificate, but now he is Jason Harper. A pro of being married is that he can take my last name when 'Jason Todd' is dead, then we don't have to worry about finding a whole new identity for him. We are simply known as the Harpers to people around here, a normal family. Lian looks like Jay too, so much so that most people assume she was his kid, not mine.
As soon as Lian sees Kori, she runs at her, nearly leaping at her and talking a mile a minute. Dick follows, merely taking a step inside the apartment so I can shut the door, not moving past that, just staring at Kori.
Kori looks up at us, a moment of confusion crossing her face when she sees Dick, but it goes away just as fast as she looks back at Lian, still talking.
Call me a coward if you will, but I went to the kitchen so I didn't have to be there for their awkward reunion. I started dinner- usually Jay does this- so I grab something simple, pasta, it's hard to mess up noodles. I fill the pot with water and put it on the stove. Kori comes in a few minutes later and takes a seat at the table near me.
"So..." She starts. I know she wants me to talk, she is waiting. Whenever she wants to talk about something, she says 'so...' then refuses to talk until I talk about what she wants to talk about. If I try to avoid it, she just stays quiet and raises an eyebrow, daring me to keep trying to change the subject.
"Look, I'm fine, it's Jay we need to be worrying about."
"Roy, you are cooking dinner at 3:30pm so you can do something that makes you feel productive. A dinner that takes less than 20 minutes to make."
"Well you came in here to avoid talking to your ex."
"And we will be talking about that later, but you cannot change the subject."
"What do you want to hear? That I couldn't even look at him today? That I am spiraling thinking about what could happen if he died?"
"Is that what you want to talk about?"
"I don't know."
There is a moment of silence.
"Jason isn't coming home when he wakes up."
"What?"
"Bruce said he wants Jay to be at the manor when he's recovering."
"Like hell, Jason won't let that happen."
"He- he brought up-" I cut myself off and her eyes narrow. I shouldn't have said that.
"He brought up what?" She looks on the verge of rage.
"It's not that big of a deal, he just used you know what as a low blow to justify keeping Jay at the manor."
"It better not be what I think it is."
"Forget I said anything."
"How am I supposed to forget something like this?"
"If it makes you feel any better, Dick stood up for me." Stood up for is a bit of a stretch, but still.
"Oh. He did?" The water starts trying to boil over, so I turn off the stove. Dinner before 4pm probably isn't the best idea anyway.
"Do you want to talk about being around your ex now?" She's quiet, "Look, Jay isn't here right now and I won't judge you if you say you still have feelings for him." She sits there for a moment longer, then she just smirks and stands up.
"Let's go play a game with Lian." We walk out of the kitchen and by the couch where Dick and Lian are sitting. She is currently showing him her toys, probably Kori's doing, but he is sitting there listening intensely like this is the most fascinating thing on the planet, occasionally asking her questions.
"Hey Lian, why don't you go get your board game, we can play it." They look up at us, then Lian nods before jumping up and running to her room.
"Uh, hey Roy, where is the bathroom?" Dick asks, standing up as well from the criss-cross-applesauce position he was in.
"Oh, it's down the hall, second door on the right." There are 4 doors, the first door on the right is a closet, the second is obviously the bathroom, the first door on the left is Lian's room, then the second door on the left is Jay's and my room.
Lian came back and we started setting up. Then Dick came back, looking like he had something he wanted to ask, but he didnt. He had that look throughout the entire game and through dinner.
"Ok Lian, I gotta go take Dick back, I expect you to have taken your bath by the time I get back. Kori can get your water ready and help you if you need it." She gives a little soldier salute before shoving a few more noodles into her face.
Dick follows me out to the car. Getting in the passenger seat.
"I assume the manor?"
"Yeah, my car is there." He pauses. "You know, I think this is the first time I've been to your apartment since before Jay moved in." Oh. I think it has.
"Oh, well, you're welcome any time." I say, starting the car. We sit in silence for a bit as I drive through neighborhoods and out onto the main roads.
"Are you and Jason together- like romantically?" He blurts out. My body tenses and my hands grip the steering wheel tighter.
"I was meaning to tell you- it just never came up." I say.
"How long?"
"Uh, a bit after Lian came to live with us."
"It's been years? You two are married. He took your last name. You live together and sleep in the same bed. You are friends with parents at school. Lian calls Jason 'Papa'. None of this was worth mentioning? He's my brother. You are one of my best friends. I wasn't even invited to the wedding."
"We got married before you knew he was alive, so we couldn't very well invite you. We would have though. You don't think I miss hanging out with you too. You don't think I didn't want to text you all the time telling you 'hey, I'm married to the love of my life and you and I are brother-in-laws now. Lian is now your niece. Ollie and Bruce are in-laws now and don't even know it." As upset as he is, he chuckles at that last part.
"They are going to be so mad when they find out."
"Oh please, they'll just use it as an excuse to invite one another to parties and such just to upstage one another." I say. Ollie and Bruce have been rivaling each other since before Dick and I were on the Teen Titans together.
"That would be pandemonium."
We sit in silence as I pull up to the gates of the manor. I drive up to the doors, and before Dick gets out, I stop him.
"Please don't tell Bruce." His eyes search mine. "Jay and I haven't talked about it yet and I don't want to tell Bruce without Jay's permission." He nods.
"I'll text you with updates on how he is doing."
"Thanks. And Dick-" he turns to face me.
"Yeah?" he asks.
"Sorry I broke the code."
"Code?"
"The friend code, don't date your friends' siblings." I say. He laughs.
"I'll forgive you this time, just feel lucky that you don't have any siblings I could date to make us even. After all, Connor is asexual and you don't have any other siblings."
"I see Kori like a sister." I blurt out. Dick went red, avoiding eye contact.
"Goodnight Roy."
"Goodnight Dick."
The next few days went by with little news. Dick would text me but not much happened. He told me Bruce would not leave Jason's side, even after we were told he'd be ok, that he just has to wake up and he will be okay.
I would go to work, Kori would stay at the apartment and pick up Lian from school. At nights, we would eat dinner, Lian would take a bath, and I would tuck her in. I can tell she misses Jay, she keeps asking how much longer until he comes home.
I also miss him. After I tuck her in, I go to the kitchen. I avoid going to my room for as long as possible, I don't want to sleep in our bed knowing he isn't there, that he's in that hospital bed in the medbay. Kori comes in and talks to me, knowing why I don't want to go to bed.
On the third day like this, after I tuck Lian in, I go to my phone and I see a text from Dick. He woke up. HE WOKE UP. I tell Kori, she takes the phone, asking more questions- how is he? What other injuries is he facing? Is his head foggy or is he doing well? Questions I can't bother to ask because all I can think about is that he's awake!
Kori takes a phone call, probably with Dick. I just sit down, still grinning ear to ear. I can't wait to see him. I'll take the day off work, I can take Lian over to him tomorrow. Hell, I can keep her home from school and if he's feeling up for it, we can go do something.
I go to our room and tidy a few things up. I don't want him coming home to a messy apartment in a few days. I finish making sure things are nicely put and I walk out to find Kori sitting on the couch.
"Dick said he's in good condition, they want to keep him a few more days, but we can visit tomorrow. He also sent a picture." She shoves the phone towards me.
The picture is of Jason sitting in his bed, a tray of food in front of him as he gives a thumbs up to the camera.
I smile at the photo.
"Wanna send him one back?" She says. I sit down and we make silly faces at the camera before sending it.
"Ok, now that you know he is awake and safe, you should go to bed so you are wide awake tomorrow when you see him."
"I know you just want me out of your hair... But I will comply so I can be banging on their door, Lian in tow, at 7am to get to him." I walk back to my room. I am so antsy that I sit in bed for a while longer, looking out the window that leads to the fire escape. It's the same fire escape that Jason uses when he goes out as Red Hood, and I use when I go out as Red Arrow. It's the same one he used that day last week, before-
I hear the door open.
"They're gonna be mad." Kori's muffled voice.
"I don't care." Another familiar voice I recognize all too well. I stand up, walking to the door.
"Where Roy?"
"He's sleeping." I'm walking down the hall.
"Should I go wake him up?" I turn the corner and I see him, standing in front of Kori, eating food he probably picked off of her plate.
We see each other, and I let out a shaky breath. He just smiles his little crooked grin at me.
"Jason," I say before we collide, grabbing onto one another like if we let go, the other will disappear. He hasn't showered in days and he needs to shave, but I don't care, I bury my face into his shoulder and he clings to me.
"I missed you so much." I mumble into his jacket.
"Not as much as I missed you." He lets out a breath, one that sounds like it's been stuck in him for a while, like this is the first moment he's had to just pause and appreciate that he's here.
I let out an amazed laugh, "What are you doing here, I thought you were gonna stay at the manor a few more days."
"I wanted to see you." He says, looking at me like he still can't believe I'm really here, probably how I'm looking at him now. "Both of you." He's eyes go from lingering on me over to Kori, going back and forth as we both stare at him like he was just raised from the dead. Again.
"You know, I don't care how mad Bruce will be. I'm just glad to see you again."
"Papa?" A little voice squeaks up behind Jason. Lian comes out of her room, rubbing her eyes. Jason turns around and when she sees it's him, comes running over. He squats down to pick her up and then spins her around. Settling her on his hip as she has both arms hanging around his neck.
He turns back to Kori and me, his eyes resting on me. He mouths the words 'I love you' and I mouth the words back. Kori interjects.
"Ok, as much as I hate to break up this family reunion, it is like 2am. I'll go put down Lian again so you two can talk." She gets up and walks over to Jay and Lian. Lian shakes her head and clings harder to Jay.
"Nuh-uh. I wanna stay with Papa."
"Don't worry, I'll be here tomorrow. We can hang out all day, but you gotta go to bed so you aren't falling asleep while we hang out." She bites her lip, thinking it over. She looks at me, and I give her that parental look of 'You know what you are supposed to do'.
"Fine, but you have to hang out with me all day tomorrow." He kisses the top of her head and then passes her off to Kori.
"I promise." Kori leads her over to me to give her a kiss before bringing her to her room to put her back down.
Kori will probably want to go to sleep when she gets out. I tilt my head to gesture that we should go to the kitchen. He nods.
I sit down at the table and he fiddles with the radio on the counter, playing some song softly in the background. Jay loves to play music if he's in here, so I let him.
He sits down next to me, and I take his hand in mine, entangling our fingers. I bring it up to my lips and kiss his hand, looking him in the eyes. We sit there enjoying the moment for a while. A few songs later, he stands up.
"I love this song." He pulls me up to my feet before pulling me close to him. He grabs my waist and leans his head on my shoulder, swaying. We stay like that after the song is over, softly talking, long after Kori turned out the lights, the only lights left being the lights of the city out the window.
Eventually, at like 4am or so, we went to our room, and we rolled into bed, clinging onto one another as we talked to each other about everything and nothing until we drifted to sleep.

WIP Wednesday: Brucie's guide to avoiding traffic jams
This week, here's something from the cutting room floor of my ongoing fic (Love) Triangles, presented with minimal context so as to avoid spoilers. This scene was meant to introduce Bruce's/Brucie's POV but it ended up not fitting, which is kinda sad because I liked how it turned out. So here it is, in case I don't manage to work it in somewhere after all!
It was a crisp autumn evening in central Metropolis. The rain that plagued Gotham had miraculously ceased almost the instant he’d crossed over into her sister city, which was both meteorologically improbable and completely unsurprising. Rather than hurrying along under dark coats and umbrellas, the citizens here seemed content to stroll casually along well-lit streets. There were areas of Metropolis that were more subdued, closer to what Bruce was used to. But here in the center of things, everything was bold and new and shiny even at night, gleaming art deco illuminated by sun-yellow streetlights. Glancing around, all Bruce could see was shining chrome and twinkling glass.
He suppressed the urge to grimace. Instead he scanned the sidewalk until he found what he was looking for and plastered on his most charming smile. “Hey there, Mr. Parking Valet? Could you come over here, please?” he called out.
Hearing a faint voice over the hum of background traffic, the man glanced around in confusion for several seconds before his eyes landed on Bruce, halfway out of his car and waving at him enthusiastically. The valet blinked and pointed to himself questioningly. Bruce nodded encouragingly and beckoned him over.
Warily, the valet approached. He was young, younger than Bruce, probably early to mid twenties with a neatly styled mop of mousy brown hair and a skillfully pressed uniform. Worn leather shoes carefully polished until they shone. He probably would struggle to afford a room at the hotel he worked at, but he took his job seriously. He wanted to impress.
He would do.
“Can I help you, sir?” he asked politely.
Bruce beamed. “Why yes, you sure can, um…” He squinted at the man’s nametag. “Jeremy. Sorry for calling you over so rudely like that, I can’t exactly leave the car when it’s running. That would be terribly unsafe, you know.”
Jeremy glanced at the car. Bruce could spot the exact moment the guy twigged the make and model: a rapid blink, the slightest raising of his eyebrows. When he lifted his gaze, his eyes swept across Bruce’s watch and the expensive cut of his tux.
“Ah, yes, sir. I understand,” Jeremy said smoothly.
He’d decided to humor him. Perfect.
“Oh, I’m so glad,” Bruce gushed. “I knew as soon as I saw you across the street that you’d be an understanding fellow.”
He tipped his head politely. “You’re too kind, sir.”
“What can I say? I call it like I see it, Gerald, that’s just how I am.”
Jeremy’s poker face was admirable – not so much as a twitch. He was going to go far in this business.
“But enough about that,” Bruce continued, smiling broadly. “As to the reason I called you here…well, I’m actually in something of a fix! You see, I’m supposed to be at an event at that building over there—” here, he indicated Lexcorp’s ostentatious façade with his right hand and frowned at the watch on his left “—oh, about an hour and a half ago, now. And there comes a point whereby I’m no longer fashionably late but rather I’ve very unfashionably missed all the fun – and, most importantly, the most palatable offerings from the champagne selection. You can relate, I’m sure.”
“Of course, sir,” Jeremy said, nodding soberly.
“Of course,” Bruce agreed, equally soberly. “But as you can see, this terrible traffic is just not budging! By the time I’m unstuck from this jam, the only sparkling wine left at the open bar will probably be prosecco. Prosecco! I mean, can you imagine?”
“No, sir,” Jeremy said.
“No indeed!” he cried. “So you see, I was wondering if you might park my car for me in the parking lot of your fine hotel and save me the aggravation of missing my party. I would of course compensate you for your time, but you’d truly be doing me a wonderful service.”
Jeremy’s expression turned politely apologetic. “Well, sir, I’m afraid the parking lot is reserved for those who have rooms in the hotel. As much as I’d love to help you, I wouldn’t like to get in trouble with my boss.”
Bruce nodded. “That’s understandable, Jermaine. I wouldn’t want for a nice man like yourself to get into any trouble. Although…are you sure we can’t come to some kind of arrangement?” He raised an eyebrow meaningfully. “I’m an extremely generous tipper, you see.”
Jeremy blinked. “Oh. How extremely generous, exactly, if I might ask?”
Bruce said nothing and smiled wider.
Jeremy glanced once more at the watch and swallowed. And then, after a brief moment of consideration, he said with a bright, professional smile, “Very well, sir! I’d be happy to help.”
Bruce gave his shoulder a jovial slap. “There’s a good man! I knew you’d come through for me.”
He pulled out a handful of bills from his wallet and handed them over, along with his car keys and a business card. Jeremy’s eyes went wide. “Take my card. If your bosses give you any trouble over this, just call this number. I’m confident my secretary can work something out with them.”
Jeremy’s eyebrows were at his hairline now. Bruce wasn’t sure whether it was because of the neat stack of hundreds he’d just been handed or the name on the card – but in the end, it didn’t really matter, did it? The end result was the same.
“I— Of course, sir! Thank you for your generosity.”
“No, Geoffrey,” Bruce said emphatically, taking the man by his shoulders and looking him dead in the eye. “Thank you.”
He left a grateful Jeremy with his still-running car and hurried the remaining block over to Lexcorp.
He’d wasted enough time already as it was.

i lovedddd please leave a message after the beep, so amazing!! i was wondering if you would be able to write maybe a blurb/one shot (or hcs if easier) abt how daily life is basically after kidnapping reader? or maybe bruces pov throughout the story? honestly it can be wtvr u choose i am hooked 🫶🫶 (if u dont have time/motivation to do this i completely understand!)
Hello Sweet soul!
First, I wanted to thank you for the beautiful comment you leave. If you want to read some more, there are two more chapters of this section in my Ao3, where the last chapter is from Dick's perspective (the link to my ao3 is in the description header of my blog). In case you already come from there, and have doubts about the reader's life after the abduction.
Well, I have no problem with giving you a bit of insight on that. Because I didn't have a good positioning of Bruce in all this at the time, I didn't really know how to accommodate him. Kind of ironic, considering he and Dick are yanderes for the reader.
Now I do. About Bruce after he kidnapped the reader, and her life now that she's locked up.
Bruce doesn't kill, that's the only good thing I can take from the situation, so the reader's partner would be safe in that respect. But, Bruce ultimately might break his arm, so he'd only be left with one arm and a lot of trauma from watching a masked man abduct his girlfriend in the middle of the night.
Bruce would see to it that the police, with a lot of cluelessness, would find the couple's "lifeless body"… and I don't know what else. I feel like Bruce would feel more at ease with himself knowing that no one is looking for the reader.
Now, the important thing: How does Bruce feel about the reader?
Initially, professional appreciation. But over time Dick made him realise that, like any human being, he shouldn't have to be alone. I mean, he's entitled to have things he misses having.
And now he's a father. He's a father of a child who misses having a family. Now he has a father and a grandfather, but he's missing a mother. And Bruce is also missing a partner to be able to take care of a child.
It's a strange mix of emotions and situations: Bruce adores Dick and will give him everything he once lacked after the death of his parents; but he also never had the luxury of being able to love a person like a partner.
Then, along comes the reader, who is good and nice to Richard, who was at his worst; she is professional and nice to him, who is her boss. She had respect for him, then appreciation and then the love bug hit him with an atomic bomb of love feelings.
And you and I both know that Bruce loves in a rather particular way. He's controlling, he doesn't know how to express himself and when he wants to do something he actually does it (not for nothing in canon Bruce was willing to marry Selina, and would have if she hadn't left him at the altar). He loves with all his being.
So, he loves Dick, he's his son, and now that he's grown fond of someone else. He is afraid of losing them.
So, together with Dick's need and longing to have a mother again… Why not give it a try?
You know, give him a mum. Give him a mate. To be able to give Dick and him what he never had.
A family.
Seek to love, seek to adore.
He would give her all the meals, he tries to comfort her during the hard days, he actively prevents Dick from throwing tantrums or saying mean things in front of the reader. Because he wants to prove that he is a good father, that he is a good partner and a good family man.
He doesn't care if the reader begs for his departure from the mansion, he will tell her that she should think of her son; of little Dick. He would act so paternal and so loving towards them, he knows the changes are difficult, but in time she will adapt.
He will do everything in his power to first, make her accept Dick; because at the end of the day she will be his new mother. And then, that she accepts him, who is her husband and her partner.
He buys her matching clothes, gets her pretty flower arrangements. Decorate the room they are going to share with things they both like. I would spend more time inside the mansion so that you can take advantage of the moments you share with Dick, as if you were a family.
And only when he notices that she no longer trembles at the sight of him and Dick near her, is he happy to note that he has achieved his goal!
He will be the perfect father and husband for her and Dick.
Because her son taught her that it was right to love again. And that it wasn't wrong to take out all his emotions and give them corresponding actions.

Hello! What are the things that you'd like to see (or see more) in a Superman story?
o/ !
hmm, fanfiction or canon? Because in fanfiction... we're all here for fun, and I'm more interested in reading something the author's genuinely interested in writing. What I want out of canon Superman stories is pretty different than what I’m looking for when I fire up AO3. That being said, here is a long stream of consciousness of fanfic concepts that are currently living rent free in my brain. at least the sfw ones lol
there was An Art gremlin did a while back of Bruce tearing up when Clark was washing his hair and tbqh i think that would go both ways. the idea of an invulnerable man being treated softly drives me insane
superbat hand kisses. do i even need to elaborate. i will (threat)
i love plotty long world built alien space mission fic, which I realize is hard to write, but I love it anyway
Kryptonian. I know the grammar is hard and the vocabulary is sparse but I would be willing to beta or translate lines of dialogue if anyone wants to include Kryptonian in their fics...
(clark and diana teaching each other kryptonian and themysciran greek…)
general Kryptonian worldbuilding. I am on the verge of trying to encyclopedia precrisis Krypton just so people can throw in tanthuo flez or :dhosurro.
also kryptonian myths, ethics, nicknames... like just tossing it out into the wild that zhor krigia means bright heart... clark calling kara kir-a as a pun on bright... kara calling clark kahl-te...
also alien biology but that’s a given with me. still. had to throw it in
i know i'm superbat on main but. good clois content...
good kara content................
kara where she shows up and is markedly Other and. everyone is at first confused (’that’s not how kryptonians are’) and then slowly realizes how much clark masks...
ABOVE ALL ELSE. COMPETENT SUPERMAN. PLEASE.
how many languages does Superman speak? Can Superman pull a child out of a mudslide in rural India and reassure her she's going to be all right and help her find her parents - in her own language? (yes. ideally he should be able to.)
the adventures of insomniac superman. precrisis the man only sleeps 1 hour a day. granted lots of time is taken up studying aforementioned languages but. 3AM clark sitting in an all night diner in texas because there was a robbery nearby and he needed to not to be alone wanted coffee afterwards. clark watching the earthrise standing on the moon. sunlight tasting different at different altitudes.
(clark bringing a moon rock back to bruce like hey thought you might like this)
you know those fics where clark meets the batfam and like. learns to get along or whatever with them. that but in reverse. give me bruce wayne learning how to tolerate the menace that is jimothy james pulitzer prize winning photographer turtle boy menace olsen
young clark reading. actually clark in general reading but especially young clark reading, trying to understand his place in the world. Superman should have an opinion on Nietzsche's Ubermensch.
clark as a chaotic good person locked into a society and a role that demands lawful goodness of him
well thought out implications of growing up with superpowers. not to toot my own horn but this post i did from a while ago explains why the concept of infrared vision still lives rent free in my head
i am ALWAYS trash for listening into people's heartbeats. it makes no sense auditorially but neither does superhearing in general. read this fic diptych from bruce and then clark pov it's about their twinned nightmares and listening to heartbeats and overhearing bruce crying and the hurt of privacy invasion!!! then go read the first one in the series. wah.
The Call from Batman Black and White has a pretty garbage Clark but the idea that sticks in my brain from that is when Clark is afraid he’s just another tool in Bruce’s utility belt. chefs kiss. god i love angst. not the time to angst when someone’s bleeding out clark but god i love it anyway. anyway fic of this scenario (Clark is Bruce’s absolute last resort and he has to call on him) but not bad
crossovers... get flashpoint kal some HELP that man needs HELP
GET DCAU CLARK SOME HELP THAT MAN NEEDS HELP. PLEASE PEOPLE. WATCH STAS’S APOKOLIPS ARC SO YOU WILL UNDERSTAND HOW BADLY THAT MAN NEEDS HELP.
just because bruce timm was not going to address clark being essentially sexually assaulted during that arc doesn't mean we gotta leave it alone
anyway basically. just. good characterization. or. i’ll settle for interesting characterization at this point. my personal standards of clark characterization hinge on my three favorite Capital S Superman Stories: birthright, all-star, and miracle monday. if a fic has just one of the aspects of those characterizations I'm content. I would elaborate on that but this is already too long.

Chapter Six: Family Portrait (Terry McGinnis' POV)
I showered and changed into the pajamas Jason gave me. They were baggy, but they fit well enough. He sat in the living room, reading a book by the fireplace. I sat at the top of the stairs, watching him. “Terry, you can come downstairs whenever you’re through watching me,” Jason whispered. I stood up and looked over the stair rail.
“How’d you know I was here?” I questioned. Jason grinned upward at me.
“I heard you breathing,” Jason chuckled, “What’s the matter, Terry?”
“Jason, you don’t get a little messed up during these riots?” I asked. I had to admit that I was scared. I hated the riots in Gotham because there was no way to see if it was a meta-problem or a gang problem. A meta problem sometimes meant we were shut in the house for days. He shook his head.
“It gives me an excuse to sit up all night. I’ll put a good dent in this series,” Jason replied, “Wanna borrow the first issue?”
I nodded, and Jason pulled the first book from a stack on his living room table. I curled up on his couch and started reading. “Jason, thanks for letting me help with dinner. I had fun,” I replied. Jason grinned.
“I had fun too, Terry… You know you can do this with your father at home too?” Jason suggested. I know he meant well, but things were still weird with my dad. He didn’t get me like Jason did. I nodded, but I didn’t answer him. “It helps… Common ground between parents and their kids has to start somewhere, Terry.”
Jason returned to his book, and I read until I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore. I woke up, tucked into bed with the book on the bedside table. I could hear Jason’s voice in the hallway. “Hi—. No, it's not like that. I'm safe. The generator's fine… Do they feed you enough? Of course, I love you and miss you… Yeah, I know. I'm glad you called… No, I'm not mad that you called. I was shocked… Hey, no… Don't do that. I understand," Jason's voice bride, "Don't worry about it. I'll see you as soon as I'm freed up… No, I—. I wanted you to call. I love you too. A million times more… A billion. Night night."
Once he hung up, I stepped into the hall, where I witnessed Jason crying with his forehead against the wall. "Jason, I didn't mean to listen, but I couldn't sleep," I whimpered. Something about seeing him cry twisted my stomach in knots. "Jason, I—. Please don't cry." I tugged at his sleeve and pulled him into a hug.
"I shouldn't—. Sorry that I woke you up," Jason sniffed as he collected himself.
"What happened?" I asked.
"I got a call from someone I love dearly. It's hard when you haven't seen someone in a long time. Sometimes it hurts to hear the kids’ voices," Jason confessed. “Want some cocoa?”
I nodded and followed him to the kitchen. Jason took a serving platter out of the pantry and filled a small pot with all his ingredients faster than I could sit down. “Is Tim your little brother?” I asked.
Jason chuckled and nodded. “I’m the third of six kids. But if we were talking order of when we were adopted-slash-acquired… I was his second child. He never completely figured out the whole parenting thing, but I was close to him when I was young,” Jason replied.
“You were adopted?” I asked. “Did you—? Sorry, that’s rude.”
“No, it’s fine. I am adopted. Technically twice adopted, but I didn’t know that until I was fifteen. I lived with my biological father and the woman I knew as my mother until they both passed, then I was adopted, and three and a half years later, I found out my mom wasn’t my biological mom… My biological mom left the country,” Jason answered honestly, “I met my biological mom once… and it took me over twenty-five years to process that. And that’s why I stress the importance of you trying to bridge the gap between yourself and your pop. He loves you so much, and he wants to see you. Warren wants to understand you. Some kids never get that in their parents… Trust me.” Jason turned away from the pot and smiled at me.
“What was your bio mom like?” I asked.
Jason turned his back. “I don’t speak ill of the dead, but I can speak to how our meeting affected me. Out of all the neglect, verbal abuse, and exploitation I experienced as a kid… The day I met my biological mother left me scarred physically and mentally in ways that my wife —God rest her soul— couldn’t even understand. Speaking of that, have you ever thought of therapy?” Jason asked.
“There’s nothing wrong with—.”
“I’m not saying that. Everyone tends to need therapy from time to time… I didn’t think I needed it, but I started going because my kids went… and it changed me. Made me more gentle, kind, and patient. I had to stop a few years back because I hit a wall… But it helped a lot,” Jason replied, “It’s not always fun, but it’s worth it if you put in the work.”
“Like going to the gym?” I half-joked. Jason nodded.
“Exactly like that,” Jason replied.
“Well, I’ll try it whenever you go back,” I joked. I didn’t mean to be hurtful, but he winced. “Jason, I didn’t—.”
“No, you’re right. It’s hypocritical of me to think that you’d give therapy a go when I’m actively avoiding it,” Jason replied, “But you can’t go contingent on my successes or failures. I’m your mentor, but I won’t allow you to make decisions based on what I do. You’re not a follower, Terry.” He was stern but sincere.
I didn’t argue with him, and I wasn’t angry with him. “Terry, I don’t mean to be hard on you. I like you. You remind me of someone… And I don’t wanna see you follow somebody right into an early grave. You’re a good kid, and I know you can be great if you put your mind to it,” Jason explained as he poured my cocoa into a mug before messing up my hair.
“You really do care, don’t you?” I asked. Jason nodded.
“So much,” Jason replied, “I hate to say it, but you remind me of how much fun I used to have with my kids… Even when they were getting in trouble.” That made me even more curious about his family. How could I be anything like his kids or his family? “Mostly, you remind me of myself when I was a kid… But you know that already. That’s how I know you’ll be alright if you learn to make your own decisions. You don’t have to follow in anyone’s footsteps. You understand me?”
“Yeah,” I replied as I sipped the cocoa he made. It was rich and warm, and it filled me with comfort. It was the feeling I used to get when I had fever chills as a kid, and my dad wrapped me in blankets fresh from the dryer. It made me want my dad. I wanted him so badly I thought I'd cry.

Damian Wayne x Reader
Summary: Batfam has a hard time accepting reader and damian relationship which Causes a problem
Part 1
Tumblr media
Not my GIF Credit to owner
Dicks pov***
I was at the manor when damian angrily walked past me wich was weird since he was supposed to be with y/n right now . I was walking upstairs to find damian to make sure he was ok when i was about to knock on the door it opened to Damian in workout clothes and his katana “ what do you want grayson” he starts walking away so i follow “ what's wrong” i say “nothings wrong why would you say that grayson” he starts going down to the batcave where jason is cleaning his guns and armor . tim is at the bat computer with bruce “ well you're here angry when you should be happy with your girlfriend”
“she's not my girlfriend anymore” I looked at damian in shock they seemed like such a great couple Y/A/D/S/N can’t die. my thoughts are interrupted by the loud voice of jason todd “finally dumped the gold digger lets celebrate’’ damian tensed at the word . i speak up “ jason breaking up isn't a good thing.” then tim starts “ yeah it is damian won't be distracted on weekend in the field because he was thinking of his “girlfriend”” “what we've mostly discussed it we were going to bring it up later on anyway ” i was looking at my Idiotic brothers. “what do you mean discussed ” “well we haven't been quiet about it we’ve vosed our opinions about her and damian being in a relationship we’ve talked about your relationship and thought it was a bad idea in the end but its ok because you already broke up with her’’ tim said . I spoke again “did y/n know about these “discussions” you had about her”.
Damian's pov***
I was listening to the conversation the imbills I call my brothers after breaking the news about my relationship to Richard . when they started badmouthing my relationship with y/n Jason even when as far as to call her a gold digger how dare he it’s like he doesn’t see the women he goes out with . They continue to tell Richard that they did not approve and that they have discussed how it would affect my performance in the field which was thought only a weak man would have . Richard asked Drake , Todd , and Father if my beloved new about their distaste of our relationship to which Todd has the nerve to say “of course it’s not like we hid that we didn’t think it was a good idea” . that’s where I spoke up again because I lost my patience “WHEN YOU WHERE BUTTING IN TO MY RELATIONSHIP YOU MADE HER BREAK UP WITH ME DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH THAT HURTS I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU ” after I spoke I ran to get to y/n’s apartment .
******timeskip to y/n’s apartment brought to you by Tim drake's non existent sleep schedule******
Back to y/n’s pov***
After Damian and my break down I go to my room and lay in bed looking at my phone looking at pictures of me and Damian . starting to delete them I was staring at a picture that Dick took of us at the park I had just jumped on Damian’s back and we both had huge smiles on our faces . I had my finger over the delete Button but I couldn’t press it “ I love that picture of us” Damian said from behind me . I turned to face him with confusion written on my face .“what are you doing here I told you it’s over” “y/n I know the things my brothers said and I know they hurt you but don’t let them win don’t let them control your decisions anymore because I don’t want to be in a world where we are not together and I could have prevented it from happening so will you please take me back” “ but your brothers” “my brothers are wrong and if this happens to happen again I’m not afraid to accidentally push them of a roof during patrol so will you have me as you boyfriend again ” “Damian Wayne I would love to have you as my boyfriend if you will have me as your girlfriend” “I would be honored to.” Damian said pulling me in to a kiss after we pull apart he tells me “never do anything like this again I was so worried.”
Sorry it took so long to do a part 2 and that I don’t post but me mentally I know that I wasn’t in the right place when I started writing so I took a break

Love fair Act 35

Vampire fanfiction Clark Kent human x Richard Grayson vampire no capes or tights but fangs and might.
Richard pov
We made it to Thor's place it was a beautiful tower in a private property two hours away from Gotham close to a big lake. I believe it is not where Thor usually stays.
Alfred drove us there it was cold out and the snow still is kicking our ass. It would pelt down non-stop.
We walked towards the tower as the door automatically opened for us a man led us in. Me and Clark wonder in the tower Alfred stayed behind in the car it wasn't far I wasn't waiting for a room full of vampires and I also see Jason sitting in the front row among them two chairs are at the front of the room.
"Please sit down the both of you usually I would be sitting in the front but I wanted to hear what your Clark had to say." Thor's voice carried I couldn't see him he didn't make himself visible to me the stone walls and the teal decor with cool colours made this room more formal.
Until I noticed him and Tim. Tim tied up in a chain by the neck like a dog. At least he is wearing clothes or more like rags.
I watched them for a moment and Thor motioned for us to sit down. I looked where Jason was sitting with a frown on his face, I didn't know what to expect I don't ever go to these types of things like trials.
We sit and I feel the whole room shift. "We are here as a clan to witness what crime is done on your Grace has been committed by Tim." Tim never looked away from where me and Clark are sitting as Thor kept talking about the gravity of these crimes that are clan is here to help the human race not feed off of them like cattle.
Blue eyes pierce mine I didn't understand this but at this moment I realised that Tim didn't like me, And at this moment I know now he hasn't like me for a very very long time.
"I wish to hear from Clark." Thor said watching us intently he had a gaze as if he understood what I was thinking about and he wanted me to listen instead he read my mind like a book.
"My name is Clark Kent." Clark got up his seat and the vampires in the room laughed at him for being so not like us and just getting up formally introducing himself like he was in school, He also insisted in dressing himself in a suit I didn't own anything that would fit Clark but Bruce did.
Clark wasn't a hundred percent right in the head right now but he wanted to look professional I didn't know why maybe it was just him, He wanted to make a good impression I also didn't know why he thought that I indulged him in going into Bruce's closet and finding what he needed to make a first impression to a bunch of vampires.
"Sit down teacher you're not on trial but this fool is." Thor jingled the chain on Tim's neck I don't know why when Thor doing that triggers Clark he sat down fast on his seat never looking in Tim's direction. "I am here because the reason why he's in chains by your feet is because I mentioned he is consuming human blood he blames me for being in this position right." Clark explained crossing his leg looking straight ahead not looking in anyone's direction.
"He got himself in trouble not you teacher." Thor assured him.
"I panic though everything about him made me back away from him, His true nature came out in front of you and the werewolf's in that room I didn't mean to get him in trouble fear over took my judgement." Clark said. At this point I felt a shift in Clark he wasn't scared like he was when he first sat down or even enter this place.
"I don't know what to call you." Clark addresses Thor.
"Thor's fine teacher." Thor replied a smile on his face watching us intently.
"Thor you believed me right away when I told you something hidden about him, He did manipulate my mind into rubbish he made me believe Richard was doing awful things to me he didn't know me really." I thought that was weird Clark is in full control of this situation he is a bit demented none the less confident in what he's saying though.
"What do you mean teacher elaborate more on what he didn't know about you." Thor asked. I watched for something in Thor I got the hint Clark is leading this somewhere.
"Well when he entered my mind I entered his I no all of his victims every single one each victim is telling their story as we speak." Thor leaned forward in his chair I guess this is where Clark is leading us.
"I am not sure I am following." Thor asked he wasn't confused he just needed to hear what Clark has to say.
"His victims name A Harvey Dent is his latest victim he's an attorney in Gotham, Tim would go to the bar every Wednesday night frequenting this place. He didn't know Tim was a vampire he didn't know he was being stalk by him he is innocent like any human. He didn't kill him he was lucky to escape him." Clark looked like he is in a trance like state talking about this person who he had never met yet is able to pick apart this man's life.
"You see all of this then."
"He's lying." Tim out of nowhere protested his innocents Thor yanked the chain on his neck hard. "Silence." Thor hissed at Tim who didn't coward away from Thor's venom.
"You nicknamed him two faces you made him crazy like me you would take his blood unwillingly, He didn't want that from you yet you told two tribes you pay them and they came willingly Harvey didn't want that from you." Clark eyes glowed blue his brown eyes gone I am wondering what is going on.
"You underestimated Harvey and he escaped you."
"He is lying."
"He is worse than Thalia and Ghul at least they stuck together being evil but you hate Richard, And I could confess Richard is not evil." Clark went on.
"I thought you were a good descent. I was wrong about you and I was right in backing away from you." Clark accused crossing his arms legs now uncross.
"You made me roll around in the snow like a fool crying in front of my boyfriend." I was shocked when he said the word boyfriend it made all of this more real and this made me happy to no end.
"I never have done those things to you I've only just met you and you're with Richard why would I go after you." Tim felt brave enough to defend his innocents it fell flat on me.
"Don't test me Tim I had to shake this crazy off of me for three months with the help of Richard by my side Harvey has no one to help him fight your madness." Clark grew angry the more Tim talked the more angry he got.
"I am already chained up when you had this episode I wasn't thinking about you at all." Tim said Thor rattled the chains on his neck as he yanked it again.
"I will tell everyone here of all your crimes if you don't stop talking."
"My goodness I would like to hear about them." Thor seemed more on the edge of his seat now wanting Clark to expose more.
I realise Tim was hiding himself from the family for years and it is only now we are getting the full version.

The drive back to the cave was answered and quite i doubt that father even believes in his he’ll probably want a dna test and i still cant believe im leaving y/n all on her own for god knows how long mother wouldn't even tell me if there was any plans in place to aveng grandfather and if y/n will be put in harm's way without me there to protect her even tho she doesn't need my protection i still feel as tho i should be there to protector and i don't know when i will get to speak to mother or y/n i snap out of thought as We pulled into the batcave an old man who I presumed was  pennyworth
No ones pov
“Welcome back, sir I presume this is the young man of whom you spoke'?” alfred said with what sounded like amusement
“Hello, Pennyworth. I've heard of you.”damian says finely speaking seans him and his father’s small convo
“At your service, Master Damian.” damian looked around confused
“Where are the rest of the servants?”
“I am the sum total.” alfred spoke
“You have only one servant'?” that was not what damian was used to he was used to big groups of servants
“He's not a servant. He's a friend.” now that shocked damian even more he was so confused so he changed to topic
“So this is the fabled Batcave.Grandfather told us all about it.Smaller than I imagined.Very efficient, though.”
“us?” bruce was confused
“i mean me sorry” daiman didn't even realize he said us instead of me alfred sighed
“He is the spitting image of you at that age. It's a bit chilling.”
“Tell me about it.” bruce said
“Look, you're gonna have to get him settled please I'm not sure how long he'll be here, but for the time being, this will be his home.”
“Of course master bruce” alfred then turned to damian
“Would you like to see where you are sleeping?”
As they reach the room, Alfred opens the door.
“I hope this isn't too cramped for you. That door heads to your bath. The other, to a game room. And you also have this far your amusement. Naturally, you have the run of the mansion.” alfred explained as damian wondered the room
“Of course. I know that. Prepare some tea, Pennyworth. Brown sugar instead of white with fresh-cut lemon” damian didn't mean to sound rude but he was still annoyed from having to say good bye to y/n he didnt mean to have a attitude
“Perhaps master would like some warm mixed nuts...and a moist hand towel.” now that just pushed damian over
“Watch yourself, Pennyworth. I'm not so young that I don't understand sarcasm.” alfred rolled his eyes and as he walked out he said
“While I am much too old to care”
Damian settled in to his room as he got changed and began to hang his weapon and put his clothes away he stopped when he got to his drawing journals and art supplies they had sceneries of all there missions but two of the five journals were just drawings of y/n from over the years he stopped and began to look through them remembering eche one he did then he tucked them in to the bedside top draw there was a knock on the door then alfred walked in with damians tea he placed it on the table as damian watched then walked out damian pulled out the book he brought sat on the chair next to the small side table and drank his tea well he reads

“The Secrets of Gotham-Unmasked”
Chp. 19
 Bruce’s POV
Bruce spent the early day at the cave with Y/b/n as they both argued back and forth about how they each felt about Y/n. Y/b/n saw Y/n as the criminal and Bruce of course didn’t see it that way.. instead he told Y/b/n that he was the criminal, and that didn’t make the situation any more better.
“Could you just shut up already!! You’re clearly not going to win Bruce, because it’s my fucking opinion!!”
“Well your opinion is invalid because you’re full of lies!! Only if you really knew-“
“Knew what? That you’re sleeping with a god damn coward-“
  “JASON TODD!!!!”
Alfred shouted as he stood between the two for he saw that Bruce was more than ready to lunge himself at Y/b/n. And Alfred called him Jason Todd because he knew Y/b/n wouldn’t listen to him any other way, because he was still struggling with his identity. Bruce slammed his fists on his desk in anger and took his keys growling,
“If we mean nothing to you.. then I don’t want to see you here by the time I come back. Maybe then you’ll learn and fix your issues.”
“Bruce please don’t be like this-“
“Why don’t you tell that to him Alfred! I’m not negotiating with either of you.. especially if he’s going to be like that towards me over Y/n.”
And with that he left in his Corvette before Alfred and Y/b/n could add or say another word.
  Y/b/n’s POV
Y/b/n hopped off the cot with a defeated look and told Alfred,
“You heard the guy.. I have to go, so I’m leaving.”
It hurt Alfreds heart to hear Y/b/n saying such, he didn’t want him to leave, but he had to respect Bruce’s wishes regardless.
Alfred then asked in a caring manner,
“Do you have a place to stay?”
Y/b/n shook his head as he lied,
“yeah I have my own place.. don’t worry about me... thanks for helping me out.. and being the only one with some kind of two senses.. oh and tell Bruce to f-“
“I will certainly not young man... but I can understand why you’d like me too.. you know where I am.. when you’re ready to come back.”
Y/b/n let out a breathy chuckle as he said,
“That is if Bruce will ever take me back.. but as I said, I’ll be fine. I have some things to take care of on my own anyways.”
Alfred could hear the darkness in the last sentence Y/b/n said, which only made him say,
“Don’t kill anyone Jason... I mean it.”
“I can’t promise anything.. but, I’ll keep your advice in mind... and I’m taking my bike back.”
  “Go right ahead.”
Y/b/n got on the bike Y/n had first stolen from him, Alfred walked up to him as he handed him a watch,
  “Here... you might need this.”
Y/b/n took it with confusion written on his features as he asked,
“A watch? OGC has a huge clock that I see everyday.”
Alfred could tell that Y/b/n had forgotten that they both had made that tracker watch together, so he didn’t tell him the truth about it,
“J-Just.. take it please. And be safe out there.”
  “I will Alfred.”
Soon Y/b/n was out of sight and Alfred ascended the stairs with more sadness in his heart, but he felt a little peace to know that the watch he had given him had a live tracker, letting him know where Y/b/n’s whereabouts were and how his vitals were, the watch connected to the vein on his wrist that led straight to his heart.
‘At least I’ll know your location my boy.. you can’t run away from me forever son.. I can’t lose you again.. now.. I need to find Bruce and see where Y/n is.’
 Bruce’s POV
Bruce drove to the boy’s shelter to go see Danny, first to work on the adoption process and he knew Danny would help his anger go down and make him feel somewhat better. The anger was still boiling in his skin, but he wanted to calm down for when Y/n came home, he couldn’t show anger or tell her about what had happened because she still doesn’t know that Y/b/n is alive and is the RedHood, and how he doesn’t remember what she is to him but also how he hates her to the core.
Soon Bruce was inside and Danny came running to him,
   “Mr.B!!”
He ran up to Bruce and hugged his legs tightly, instantly melting Bruce’s heart and bringing him the calamity he needed.
  “hey little man-“
Bruce ruffled his hair playfully and reached out his hand,
“come on.. can I steal you for a minute.. I-I want to talk to you.”
Danny blinked his puppy eyes at Bruce as he shook his head happily,
 “yeah! Say.. Where’s Miss Y/n?”
“She’ll come another day.. but for now let’s go outside and talk.”
  “Ok!!”
Bruce was new to trying and helping a kid around with making sure he had the appropriate clothing for going outside when it was freezing, but once done and satisfied with Danny’s clothing choice for the outdoors, Bruce walked outside with Danny’s little hand holding his big hand tightly. Bruce’s height made Danny look so tiny next to him as he led him to a small bench that was around the corner of the building. After sitting down Danny crawled next to Bruce but kept a distance in case Bruce didn’t want to be close, Bruce saw these actions and instead wrapped his arm around Danny tugging him closer and wrapping his long coat around him to keep him warmer. He then began to explain in the best way he could that he was thinking about adopting Danny, and asked him how he felt about it.
“Really? I’d be able to come and live with you?”
“Of course, in the meanwhile as I sort out the paperwork we’ll be setting up your room all there where I live.”
Danny turned around and threw his little arms around Bruce’s neck as he cheered,
“This is going to be great! At least I’ll be around someone I know.. Josh was adopted into a family of circus people called the Grants? No, the Graysons!! Yeah the Graysons.. but, I’ll be happy there with you, because I’ll be able to see Miss Y/n everyday right?”
  “Yes, Everyday.”
Bruce could tell that Danny was excited about everything,
‘Kid deserves a family... just because I couldn’t have one.. or keep one... it’s doesn’t mean that he can’t. I’d never thought a kid would make me a softie as Y/n likes to say.. I miss my love.. I think I should go home and she if she’s there already.’
Bruce and Danny finally went back inside after wrestling with each other in the snow  for at least 30 minutes, but only because Danny asked nicely with this irresistible puppy eyes. Plus Bruce felt good and happy as he saw that Danny trusted him wholly no matter what. He made sure to tell the workers he had there about his plans for adopting Danny. At hearing the news they were very happy and they helped him start the process. Bruce then made sure Danny ate his dinner well, and left after tucking Danny to bed just like Y/n had told him too. He drove home and was soon walking through the door to see Y/n undoing her shoes. She had just arrived home a few minutes before him.
  Y/n’s POV
Y/n saw Bruce walk in with his dark black suit covered with snow and his hair as well was disheveled and was everywhere. His cheeks were a bright pink and you could tell he was freezing by the way his hands were shaking a little and you could hear the soft chattering of his teeth. She let out a warm welcome by giggling,
“Hi.. um.. What happened to you? Where were you?”
That’s when she saw the proud smile form on his face as he said,
“I started on the paperwork for Danny’s adoption process... he’s pretty excited.”
Y/n remembered the letter she had left Bruce asking him to move on with the adoption process on his own, and it truly made her happy to see that Bruce did just that. At first she was worried that he still wasn’t too sure about what she wanted, but seeing him do it on his own without bargaining, was a good sign, he must of really wanted it too.
“oh! That’s great Bruce! Can’t wait until it’s all through. Thank you.”
  “hm hmm.”
Bruce walked up to her grabbing her face gently and placing a kiss on her forehead, he pulled away and asked her calmly but with a hint of concern in his voice,
“Is there something you want to tell me?”
She sent him a confused look and said,
  “I don’t.. I don’t think so.”
He cocked his brow and pressed,
“you sure baby? Because Gordon’s concerned for you-“
 ‘Oh! Shoot.. yeah about that.’
“oh yes.. Umm... that’s a whole other story that’s going to lead to a bunch of things that you might not like once I’m done telling you everything.”
  “What happened at Arkham, Y/n?”
‘Shit that was direct... ok.. I can do this.. breathe.’
  Bruce’s POV
Bruce could sense she was nervous to tell when she started to fiddle with her fingers and not keep her eyes on his. He reached out and grabbed her hand led her to the living room, a place that hadn’t been in in a while. But when they walked in the bright Christmas tree caught Bruce off guard as Y/n took in a soft gasp.
“oh my... you guys got a.. a Christmas tree?”
Bruce’s heart warmed at seeing the tree standing proudly in the middle of the large window,
‘Only Alfred could make this tree look more majestic.. gosh I forgot what this was like.. the happiness it brought.. even though it’s just a tree... but it resembles more I guess.’
Bruce watched Y/n walk up to the tree and place her hand on the red ornament, it looked so small in her hands as it shined brightly. She looked up to the top and saw the empty spot where the star should be, she then mentioned the missing star in a soft whisper,
  “there’s no star..”
Bruce stayed silent as he collected the star from the side table holding it up behind Y/n.
  “Bruce?”
at hearing his silence she turned around to see his arm stretched out with the shining gold star placed in his large calloused hand. She grabbed it carefully to not drop it as he said lovingly,
“Just as the star was the missing piece to the top of this tree.. so were you.. you were the missing piece of my life.. and now you stand on top of my world.”
Tears brimmed in her eyes and she went into his arms so he could lift her up by the waist to place the star on top, she adjusted it perfectly straight. Signaling Bruce that she was done, he put her down gently and turned her around to hug her tightly. Her head was buried deep into his chest, taking in his scent and coming to terms with herself, that it was time to say the truth. But just as she was about to speak, she got a call,
  RIIIIIIIING
RIIIIIIIING
She took her phone out of her pocket and looked at the screen, it was Gordon.
She apoplectically looked at Bruce as she said,
“I’m sorry I have to take this.”
He let her go as he replied assuringly,
“go ahead.. um.. but just know that I’m here if you need to talk.. about anything. Alfred always told me that If we have something going on inside, it’s best to talk it out with someone before it eats us up you know?”
She was happy to see his progress in getting to learn how to use that advice, she had seen him more open and vulnerable with her, but now it was her turn to do such, she pecked his cheek as she replied,
“I understand, thank you baby.. now I need to go, I’ll catch you later.”
“Be safe Y/n, I love you.”
“I love you more... are you going out tonight?”
“Yes.. but if you make it home before I do just go to bed, don’t stay up.”
  “I’ll try.”
She winked at him and answered the call after it rang for the 3rd time.
  “Gordon.”
“Y/n! Jesus Christ pick up the damn phone-“
“I was in the restroom, Jeezz! Anyways.. What’s up?”
“You’re gonna hate me but I need you here now.”
  “I was just at work-“
“I know but.. we got some serious shit.. that links to what we’ve worked with in the past.. and I think it links to Stewart’s case.”
“God damn I thought we were over this.. I’m on my way.”
“Good, make it quick and wear something acceptable for this weather.. we’re going to a crime scene I’m texting you the address this second.”
  “Alright see you there.”
Y/n hung up and sighed looking at Bruce as she said,
“I’m leaving, I got to go to a crime scene.. stick around if you can.. in- in case something goes down yeah?”
He heard the worry in her tone on the last part and confirmed he’d be there,
“I’ll be there.. now go before you get another yelling.”
He sent her a playful smile before she smacked him playfully on the shoulder and went to grab her thick jacket while wearing Bruce’s hoodie under. Soon she was out the door on her bike, though Bruce begged her to take the car but she refused, saying the bike was easier to get on and faster too. He watched her leave after she gave him a promising kiss.
Mackenzie’s POV
Mackenzie entered his office in an angry mood and sat at his desk with a huff, earlier that day he had lost a bet which made him lose a lot of money. He had to get more money for the next buying and selling he was going to do, he tried to avoid this next choice he was about to make, but his desperation for money and more drops, got the best of him,
‘Looks like I’m going to need to cash this suckers check.. hmm.. let’s see.. damn.. $20 million dollars? Well how rich was Y/f/n?! Well.. who cares anyway, the money is mine and Y/n doesn’t even know it.’
He went to open his file cabinet and upon seeing the files there he realized a couple were missing.
‘What the hell... where are the reports Y/f/n put down.. why aren’t they here.. a-and his photos.. SHIT WHO TOOK MY STUFF!!’
  “OFFICER WALKER!!”
Mackenzie shouted through his office walls bringing his fellow helper Officer Walker inside with a confused look on his face,
  “What’s the matter Chief-“
“WHO WAS IN MY OFFICE LAST?!”
Mackenzie’s face turned red with fury as he barked his question, making Walker stutter his response,
“U-Uh, well sir.. the last one you- well the last one you lent your keys to was LT Gordon.”
Mackenzie stood up in a breath as he shouted,
“No! It can’t be him.. Gordon is dense as hell and wouldn’t go through my stuff!!”
“Well then what are you trying to oppose?”
Mackenzie grabbed Y/f/n’s file from the cabinet and slammed it on his desk,
“I think Y/n Y/l/n made her way inside my office and is taking pieces of this evidence to pursue her fathers case. The case I told you about remember?”
  Walker nodded his head fervently,
“Yeah yeah I remember... so this crazy chic is his daughter?”
“Yup.. and if Y/f/n was unstoppable.. so is she.. then only thing that stopped Y/f/n was when we ambushed him with flames up his ass.. my only trouble is that nothing stops this girl.. she doesn’t stop.. but that changes tonight.”
Mackenzie shoved the file back in the cabinet before slamming it shut and marching out of his office with Walker being dragged behind him as he grasped his arm tightly. Walker tried to keep up with Mackenzie as he asked,
 “Where are we going?”
“To the Iceberg Lounge first and in the mean while you are going to track her down for me.”
“What do you plan on doing Chief?”
“Oh you’ll see.. just watch and learn how much power I have over her and this city Walker.”

we are not our demons (15/24) - bruce wayne x batmom

Author’s note: I love writing for Ivy, honestly, she's such a tease and I'm here for it. Dick being all humorous and stuff just kinda happened. It's been a long time since I wrote from Bruce's POV, but somehow I'm surprised how I can write such an apathetic and emotional scene.
I hope I did Barbara justice. This is her story after all. Ellie getting another anxiety attack was definitely not scripted, it just happened.
Beta-read by Heidi.

Oh my
There’s nothing left to hide
- Plastic Heart by Nostalghia/Tyler Bates -
Damian’s piercing stare was slowly starting to get to her. Ever since Bruce came back from his mission to apprehend a certain criminal, Dick and his father had been in an intense discussion while Ellie chose to turn her back towards both men. Stubbornly refusing to look at Bruce.
Strangely, there was a throbbing sensation originating from Damian’s intense staring eyes … and either from Dick or Bruce.
Ellie’s instinct told her it was the latter. And if that was the case, then she decided to remain in ignorant bliss.
Or stubbornly shrug off Bruce’s pleading gaze.
“Oh, I fucking applaud you for what you accomplished tonight. You got Harley Quinn apprehended!”
Ellie nibbled on her lower lip, staring at the updated patient file of a certain ‘Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel’. The former psychiatrist had been put into solitary confinement upon her arrival—just the familiar procedure.
“Language,” Bruce grunted under his breath, reminding him of Damian’s presence.
“Oh, screw you, he’s heard far worse around here. Care to enlighten me why you didn’t take me with you?”
“You don’t understand—” Bruce started saying, but Dick seemed fed up with his excuses.
“You either want the Joker or you don’t. There is no middle ground. So, tell me, would you declare your mission in arresting the Joker a win?”
“Tonight’s mission was never about apprehending the Joker,” Bruce uttered that statement like a dropped bomb.
Finally, that caught Ellie’s attention. “What did you say?” she said and promptly turned around in her chair until she was gazing at Bruce for the first time since he had arrived.
Dick had his arms crossed and was facing his father in a confronting manner, his body was positioned sideways to her. Bruce was still in his Batsuit, although his cowl was ripped from his head. His hair was a mess and distracting enough, and that factor alone was mucking up her own thought process.
“Quinn and Joker together were two variables I couldn’t account for.”
Damian swayed his head, concurring with his strategy. “Divide and conquer.”
Bruce’s eyes met his son’s, fully realizing now that the youngest was still awake. “This way, we have one less unpredictable factor when the Joker—”
“Gets her out of Arkham,” Damian and Dick came to the same conclusion.
“Again, you mean,” Ellie added, her lips pursed, and her eyebrows rose high, trying to think Bruce’s scheme over. “Didn’t you guys try that before? Remember, it was almost a month ago when the Joker broke his girlfriend out.” Ellie put her hands on her hips. “What makes you think this time will be different?”
“Because this time we’ll be waiting for him.”
Ellie sighed deeply. This was starting to sound like the definition of insanity to her. She couldn’t help but remain cautious after every setback they encountered. She lifted herself up from her chair and pressed against the spot between her eyebrows.
“Hey,” Bruce whispered, as he carefully stepped towards her, not an ounce bothered about their company witnessing their intimate conversation. His warm breath was softly caressing Ellie’s cheeks, Bruce didn’t know the words ‘keep your distance’ it seemed, when he was standing so close that she had to look up to meet his eyes. “It’s going to be alright; I promise. We’ll get him, just be patient.”
Ellie barely felt his hand touching her shoulder—she could only sense warmth seeping through her skin. Nervously licking her lips, Ellie inquired, “Promise?”
“Yes, I promise,” Bruce murmured almost inaudibly, leaning forward like he was compelled.
“Mom? Dad? Should we leave you alone? You know, give you guys some alone time?”
Dick’s question felt like a jolt to the system, making Ellie jump back. Despite her blushing cheeks, she chuckled, while Bruce rolled his eyes with a tortured groan.
“Sometimes I regret having kids,” Bruce admitted with a low grunt.
Ellie let a crooked smirk slip. “No, you don’t.”
“I’m going to ignore you said that, Dad,” Dick conceded, his humor seeming to make a reprise after all.
Bruce turned his head until his glare was focusing on Dick. “Trust me, this time it’s not even directed at Damian.”
Despite the teasing words, Ellie poked her elbow into his side. Even if the kid could endure the affront due to his upbringing, Ellie had a soft spot for him and couldn’t stand for him to be treated like this—even if it wasn’t meant in a serious manner.
Ellie’s vigorous effort induced Bruce to press his lips together when the corners of his mouth tilted upwards at her antics.
Damian chose this moment to smirk arrogantly at Dick. “See, I’m an angel.”
Bruce spoke up, “We’ve got to talk about your sleeping patterns, Damian. It’s ten in the evening, you know.”
Damian rolled his eyes, revealing his annoyance. “But it’s Friday, father.”
His justification made Bruce narrow his eyes before replying after a beat, “Good for you.”
Ellie cleared her throat, mindful to keep some distance between them when she folded her arms. “If you want, you can change into something different.” She continued when she saw his bemused expression, “Didn’t you say you wanted to talk to Babs? Only if you still—”
“Right. I’ll see if she’s still awake,” Bruce thought out loud to himself. His probing gaze met Dick for a few seconds before he thought better of it and met Ellie’s eyes instead. “Can you see to it that these two don’t get into trouble and go to bed soon?”
Ellie shrugged lightly. “Looks like we’re both under pressure then, huh?”
Bruce chuckled under his breath. “Seems like it,” he answered before he sauntered away to get changed out of the Kevlar suit.
As soon as Bruce’s stature was no longer in the heart of the lair, Ellie turned her body smoothly around and spread her arms at her side. “It looks like I got the keys to the castle.”
Dick smirked teasingly. “Yeah, very funny. I don’t get how I suddenly lost the grown-up status. I mean, I can be responsible.”
Damian merely hummed and turned his body away, ignoring that statement altogether.
“Oh, now you don’t talk, huh?” His voice shifted into a mumbling monologue. “Kid’s got an opinion about everything.”
Dick’s attention focused on something else instead when his blue eyes met hers. “Great work, by the way.”
Ellie’s eyebrows creased in bafflement and a questioning hum left her lips. “Hmm?”
“Great use of radio lingo. Proud of you. You have a future … in the control room, or something.”
A warm sensation grew in her stomach at the sentiment before Ellie smiled gratefully. “Thanks, I appreciate it, Dick. You’d recruit me in the force?” At that last sentence, her clenched fist lightly bumped his upper arm.
“Anytime. I mean, as soon as Bruce would ever let you go, now that he had a taste of your technical expertise.”
Ellie rolled her eyes, despite the warmth rushing to her face from Dick’s heartfelt but playful compliment. She trusted his judgment and believed him to know his father to the core.
“Har-har, stop boosting my ego before it bursts.”
“Gotta get in line first,” Dick announced and pointed his thumb behind him at Damian.
Without glancing behind him, almost like his senses were of supernatural nature, Damian retaliated, “You’re hilarious, Grayson.”
“Do you think they would write that on my tombstone?” Dick tapped his finger against his chin, seriously considering that idea. “‘Here lies Richard Grayson. He was hilarious to his death.’ That’s kind of neat, right?”
The vibrating ringtone of her phone pulled her out of this stimulating conversation when she took it out of the pocket of her pants. The unknown caller ID let bewilderment rise in her chest.
“You’re an idiot,” was Damian’s displeased rebuttal.
“Or you mean an unappreciated genius, huh?” Dick retorted, but on a quieter level once he saw Ellie push that green button on her display, accepting the call.
Ellie narrowed her eyes and stayed quiet when she put her phone call on speakerphone. Only silence and quiet breathing met her ears.
Talk about creepy.
Her eyes flitted around in mounting suspicion before they met Dick and Damian.
“You know, you’re being really rude,” a sultry voice echoed in the lair.
Ellie rolled her eyes once she identified the speaker. “How did you get this number, Ivy?”
Having heard of this for the first time, Dick raised his eyebrows while Damian folded his arms, mild curiosity shining in his chocolate eyes.
“Oh, sweet human, you told me your name, of course. I told you we should keep in touch.”
Ellie remained wary, shaking her head. “Yeah, that still doesn’t answer my question.”
“My plants have their ways,” Ivy divulged ominously.
Ellie’s features contorted into a grimace. “Okay. I don’t really want to know all the specifics now that I think about it. To what do I owe the pleasure of your call?”
All so slowly and carefully, Dick shifted over to his younger brother, like Damian’s presence would grant him a dose of comprehension.
“Is Ellie talking to … Poison Ivy?” Dick whispered cautiously and maybe even a bit distraught.
Damian merely hummed in affirmation.
‘What the hell?’ he mouthed with a dumbstruck expression.
“So, my beloved babies told me that a certain nocturnal animal sent Harls to Arkham,” Ivy hinted with a lascivious voice.
Ellie shrugged her shoulders. “What can I say? It’s a weird city. Bats have extraordinary abilities.”
“Hmm, you work fast. You certainly held your end of the bargain. I enjoy doing business with you, Rhodes.”
Furrowing her eyebrows, Ellie spoke slowly, “Back at you.”
Ivy’s giggle was sinister all on its own. “Until next time, sweet human,” her trilling voice reverberated in the cave before she hung up.
Pure uncertainty was still clear on her face when her phone remained aloft in her hand. “Weird plant lady.”
“Judging by that enlightening conversation,” Dick spoke warily and still felt numb from this new-found revelation. “I’d say that you made a bargain with Poison Ivy, huh?”
Her eyes slowly gazed up at him, unsure of where he was going with this.
Before Ellie could confirm or deny it, Dick continued, “How did you seal the deal, huh?” His eyes were twinkling dangerously, and then he puckered his lips in a crude gesture.
It only made her features twist into an appalled grimace. “Get your mind out of the gutter, Dick Grayson.”

~ Bruce POV ~
“Are you going to keep staring at me or are you actually going to speak words in the meantime?”
Barbara’s jaded voice drew a forced smile on his face. Bruce let out a sigh, if anything, he didn’t even want to have such an agonizing talk with his year-long friend. As Batman, he could deal with delicate situations when he was required to speak with traumatized people, but he never would’ve imagined that his friend would ever have to suffer like that. And Bruce already felt enough of a failure for not knowing the words to ease Barbara’s anxieties.
Bruce intertwined his hands together, feeling his fingers tense nervously, as much as he tried not to let it show. It was hard not to yield to those twitching habits he had slowly developed over the last few months. As a kid, it was difficult to get over those, but they seemed to have returned in a subtle manner.
“I’m not good at this,” he admitted, with his head turned away.
Barbara raised her eyebrows, not interested in holding back. “At what? Talking?”
Bruce was finally looking into her eyes when he leaned forward in the chair by her bedside. “Yes.”
“Well, I’m touched. You only needed—it’s been what? — almost two weeks to initiate a conversation with me. That’s kind of weird. I mean, how long have we known each other?”
Bruce blinked slowly, feeling his stomach clench when nostalgia suddenly hit him.
“Since you were a teenager.”
Barbara nodded, gazing at him with an apathetic expression. “Long time.”
Bruce exhaled loudly, leaning back in his chair. “Yes, you’re right.”
“Kinda strange how people like my ex-boyfriend and Ellie, a person I’ve known for less than a year, visited me from time to time. Tim wasn’t much of a talker, but I didn’t mind. It makes me feel like you could shove me off towards Alfred to get me out of the way anytime you felt like it.”
Barbara found the right words to shoot him right in the chest and make his eyes glisten with emotional despair. Burning shame was blossoming deep in his stomach.
“I wish I had the ability to express how sorry I am that you got hurt—”
“I’m not blaming you, Bruce,” Barbara assured him, shaking her head at the suggestion of putting the blame on him. Her hair was brushing against her shirt with her vigor. “And I’m not blaming Dick. All I see is that—” Barbara shielded her face with her hands, pressing the balls of her thumbs against her closed eyelids. Her voice sounded thick when she continued, “I can’t sleep, Bruce. All I see is the damn Joker. He’s the only one I can blame for this.” Barbara uncovered her face and revealed her shining lilac eyes. “Unfortunately, something like him does not feel emotions like remorse or guilt.”
Understanding shone in his dejected eyes. “Yes, probably.”
Barbara’s eyes seemed dull and were lacking their usual strength. “I’m tired, Bruce,” she whispered desolately.
Bruce nodded his head, for the first time showing her what he was feeling with the candid expression on his face and not shying away that Barbara would be able to see everything.
“Yes, me too.”

~ Ellie POV ~
As soon as Ellie had sent Dick on his way to accompany Damian over to his bedroom, she had changed into PJ shorts and a tank top and covered her shoulders with a cardigan that reached over her knees.
Just to let the day fade away, Ellie was making herself a cup of tea, just something calming for the rest of the night.
Her back was turned to the corridor where Bruce’s familiar steps were coming from. Feeling curious, Ellie shifted her body until she was facing him sideways, watching him trudge with a cumbersome walk. Like he was carrying the burden of the world.
“How was it?”
“Ask me that again later,” Bruce grumbled pitifully, looking far too tired for her to hold tonight or her disgruntled feelings against him.
Ellie smiled awkwardly and lifted her cup a few inches off the counter. “Chamomile tea?”
“Is that your and Alfred’s remedy for everything?”
Ellie shrugged. “It does have its perks,” she acquiesced, just when the first tendrils of steam rose above the kettle.
“Fine. Can’t have hard liquor every night,” Bruce sighed regretfully.
“Oh, you poor thing.” She briefly squeezed his biceps before she turned to her next task. Ellie was smiling fondly as she took a second cup, saucer, and another teabag from the cupboard, and poured boiling water into two mugs. She carried both over to the kitchen island and took a seat on the bar stool.
“The boys in bed already?” Bruce’s head swiveled around, like his senses would be able to detect where Dick and Damian were. Or more specifically if they were up to some mischief.
“Yep.” Something else caught her mind when she slid from her chair to saunter over to the counter by the wall and brought the small pot of sugar with her. Stirring a spoonful of sweetener into her tea, Ellie sent a furtive glance to her right.
“Dick okay?” Bruce grumbled, holding his chin up by his clenched fist. Keeping himself awake through sheer will and stubbornness. And reminding her too much of his youngest son.
“He’s a big boy. Despite proving differently sometimes. He can handle himself. Dick’s just … frustrated, like all of us are.”
Bruce nodded in understanding, but his weary features made her ache for his troubles. He slowly turned his head until his brown eyes settled on her. “And what about you?”
“Me?” The warmth of her mug was a welcome contrast to her nervously beating heart as her fingers brushed against the porcelain, awakening her senses. “What about me?”
“Because of tonight…” Bruce’s hands spread on the surface.
Ellie narrowed her eyes, with speculation lighting up in them. “It has been a long night, so you’re gonna have to be more specific, Bruce,” she spoke candidly, maybe she liked to torture him just a little.
Licking his lips, Bruce shook his head with the corners of his mouth twitching. “You’re really not making this easy, huh?” His calm, assessing eyes were staring back at her. “You’re not mad that I didn’t disclose tonight’s true strategy to you?”
Ellie shrugged, tilting her head. “To be honest, I’m not. I can’t deny that your tactic has proven effective before. I mean, I see the results you’re accomplishing. I don’t know if the others will see it that way, though. Not only that, but I don’t want them to resent you. In the end, unless it’s some sort of poker face strategy, it could be a beneficial thing to be open with your team.”
As soon as she spoke her thoughts out loud, she swallowed. “Just pinch me if I’m stepping out of line.” Ellie took a satisfying gulp of chamomile that soothed her dry throat.
Bruce snorted. “I can only repeat myself; you’re starting to sound a lot like Alfred.”
Ellie pressed her lips together, trying to comprehend what he was saying. “Is that a bad thing?”
“Not necessarily, no.”
“Are you sure your plan is going to work?”
“It’s worth a try, and yes.”
“Alright.” Ellie held her head up with the inside of her palm. “I just don’t want us to get back to square one.”
“Yes, I know. I don’t like that idea either.” Bruce smiled dejectedly before he cautiously brought his cup to his lips, almost downing half of it down his throat. He didn’t even look fazed in the slightest by the heat.
Witnessing that made Ellie raise her eyebrows. “You really are so much like your son, Dick, huh?” She continued at Bruce’s intrigued expression. “No sugar, scorching hot.”
Huffing a breath, Bruce nodded. “Could be true.”
At the mention of Dick, something else crossed her mind. “By the way, we need to talk about something else.”
“Which is?” Bruce said, taking another sip.
“When do I get a codename?”
Startled shock was evident in his raised eyebrows. “You want a codename?”
“Yes, unless you want to call me ‘Bat-Lair’—”
“I’m not calling you ‘Bat-Lair’,” Bruce scoffed with a disapproving sneer.
“See? It’s important to clear that before, you know, in the heat of the moment, you call me something else. This way, I’d be part of the team,” Ellie announced proudly, tilting her head back with a secretive smile.
“How long do you actually intend to stay?” The corners of Bruce’s mouth twitched teasingly.
“Not up for debate, Bruce.” She refused to go down that route. In the end, this was only supposed to be temporary.
“Fine. Take your time and then get back to me once you’ve made your choice for your alias. But don’t expect me to call you ‘Lady Pumpkin Patch’, alright?”
“Perfect.”
A smirk was still on her lips when Bruce exhaled, “Happy now?”
“Immensely.” Ellie pursed her lips, noting the wrinkles around the corner of his eyes. “How was that conversation with Babs?”
He hummed under his breath, a sound that bordered on a murmuring noise. “Long overdue,” Bruce acknowledged with a fatigued, raspy voice. “I doubt I could find the right words to get through to her. To soothe her worries, to invigorate her mental health. Barbara might need some real help.”
“Yes.” Ellie’s brown eyes were downcast at the yellowish tint in the dimmed kitchen lighting before she took another pacifying sip while gazing at him. “But it has to come from her. It must be hard with these sessions of physical therapy and being cooped up all the time. And I don’t know what else is bothering her.”
Bruce hummed under his breath, nodding weakly.
Ellie licked her top lip when something else crossed her mind. A dangerous glint was twinkling in her eyes. “So, how was it?”
Skepticism grew in Bruce’s constricting eyes. “What exactly?”
Regardless of the teeny ache pooling in her stomach, Ellie pushed through. “That kiss with Harley Quinn couldn’t have been that memorable, after all.”
Hazelnut eyes darkened once she uttered that name before realization shone through. “Dashboard camera,” he cursed quietly when his head turned away in thought. Out of nowhere, a pleased glint crossed over his face. “Would you look at that? So, that’s why you behaved like that in the cave.”
Ellie rolled her eyes as heat rose in her cheeks. “I behaved like nothing in there. I was being professional tech support.”
Bruce pursed his lips in a daring manner. “Oh really? Professional tech support?”
“Yes.”
His eyebrows rose high, leaning forward until his breath was hitting her forehead. “You know, I think you were jealous.”
“Yeah, right.” Ellie rolled her eyes, like the notion would be so far out of her reach and so ridiculous to begin with. The warm sensation in the inside of her belly only grew uncomfortably with each inhaling breath. She downed the tea, barely even appreciating the taste when the cup clattered noisily on the saucer.
“There’s no shame in saying what you’re feeling, Ellie.”
“I bet you would love that, wouldn’t you?”
“Actually, yes, I would,” Bruce whispered quietly.
All the air left her lungs at his confession as she stood up on shaky legs. This was seriously hitting way too close to home. Ellie nervously rejected his idea with the shake of her head.
Well, great.
Her pulse chose this moment to throb aggressively in her temple while the root of a migraine was hitting her behind her eyelids. Her shaking hands were shielding her view from any external bright sources. There were none, but her mind tended to play tricks on her. “God, I can’t do this right now,” Ellie whined with a pained voice.
Hey, what’s wrong, Ellie?” She could only hear Bruce walking towards her, cautious in his advancing steps.
Now where to begin that she had been having some weird anxiety episodes without making him worry too much.
“Nothing, I’m—” It was hard for her to contemplate while a numbing headache was pulsating from behind her eyes.
“Talk to me,” Bruce requested with an imploring voice.
“I can’t think when I’m like this.”
Ellie could feel the warmth of Bruce’s gaze on her, concerned about her well-being. “Does this happen frequently?” he whispered all quietly.
She used both hands to press against the bridge of her nose, trying to alleviate the pressure like this. Ellie took in a deep and calming breath. “Sometimes. Usually when I’m stressed.”
“Since when?” Bruce grunted with a dazed voice.
“Do we have to talk about this now?” With a wince, Ellie dropped her hands at her sides and peered at him with blinking eyes. Nausea was welling up inside her while she was desperate for some ounce of sleep. Hopefully, tomorrow would look different.
“No, you’re right,” Bruce whispered, a deep focus settling over his features. His hands brushed gingerly over her jaw, the touch felt fleeting and barely prickled against her skin. “When are we going to talk about that kiss, hmm?”
Ellie closed her eyes, willing herself to calm down before she was going to faint. “Now of all times you want to talk about it,” she muttered quietly.
“You didn’t seem like you wanted to talk about it.”
“Because you never initiated it.”
“Well, now I am,” Bruce breathed with a murmur. The air he exhaled felt like a secret he was willingly offering.
Ellie sighed, slowly opening her eyes again, feeling tired from the idea of having this conversation. “Bruce, this thing between us is complicated.”
It startled her how the warm pools of his eyes calmed her nervous heartbeat. “No, it’s laced with secrets. And I never lied to you.”
Ellie raised an eyebrow which prompted him to continue, “Nothing I said to you was in deceit. I only kept my … other life from you,” Bruce confessed with intense anguish.
“You know, that sounds a lot like semantics right now,” Ellie teased, wanting to relieve him of this burden for a change.
Bruce exhaled wearily, throwing his head back with a groan. “You’re—Goddammit. You love making this hard on me, don’t you?”
“What can I say? I love to torture you,” Ellie replied, stroking his sides intuitively and blinking rapidly to shield her sensitive eyes.
His brown eyes gazed deep into hers, concern filling them again. “Are you feeling better?”
Ellie swallowed deeply; some hydration might be in order. “Some. I think I just need to get a wink of sleep.”
His jaw clenched. Before he could argue more about their previous topic, Ellie elaborated, “We’ll talk about this tomorrow, alright?”
Bruce nodded, silently agreeing with her. “I’ll hold you to that. Let me follow you upstairs.”
“You don’t have to.” There was a reason why she didn’t want to burden anyone with her problems.
“I want to. Besides, you’re on my way.”
There wasn’t any fight in her left to resist his stubborn nature. At least, now Bruce knew one of her secrets she had been keeping from him.
That was the reason why Ellie nodded, consenting to his will.

The Batman/Bruce Wayne POV:
Your name echoes in between my short intervals of unconsciousness. Your name calling out to me like it craves my touch. Your name like a bat-signal that's permanently ingrained in my mind. I feel my head slowly beginning to clear, only for it to be replaced by my whirlwind of emotions. Am I brave enough to let my vulnerability show? Am I enough for her? I just need to see her. Any rationality I have left must be put aside. My intuition has not failed me yet. My desire is far too strong for my Selina.
After sensing the concrete that I now lie under, I use a portion of my remaining strength to push myself up off the now bloodied concrete. My knuckles slightly buckling under the pressure. My breath heaves from the tremendous physical effort it requires while I vigorously wipe the warm blood that has trickled down my neck. I need to find Selina. I've got to see her. I'll do whatever it takes to be the unwavering safety of her warm arms.
As I stand I now begin to stagger towards my motorcycle, managing to find the inner strength once more to grip the handlebars. I turn the key as the engine roars to life. The sound firing my newly found awareness into action. I must tell Selina everything I'm almost too afraid to admit. I don't want to waste a second more.
Adrenaline courses through my body as I take off and start to pick up speed. The impending and inevitable fear I previously had in me is diminishing in consequence. My love for Selina replaces it completely. I quicken the pace as I weave through the towering city skyscrapers. Gotham City, my home in its full moonlight night. Its blinding city lights that attempt to brighten the darkness that still remains hidden behind every corner, the violence that has ensued for years can still be felt in the crisp night air. But hope lies above me in Gotham City. The stars have created a path. That path has led me to you, Selina.
It is a miracle I will forever be grateful for.
As I come to sudden stop at your apartment, I shudder quietly. I roughly turn off the engine and dismount. My need to express my unequivocal love to her before she leaves this city again quickens my steps.
The rise and fall of my heavy boots make my dark cape lightly swish behind me. I must get a glimpse her once more or I'll forever regret it.
Everything I have ever thought, felt or seen throughout my continued existence now feels lifeless. It lacks meaning because of the plain truth that Selina is not in my life.
She's close to me now, yet so far. I can only ask if she will stay by my side.
Selina makes it bearable in the darkest of times while simultaneously bringing out the buried light inside me. "Please help her understand," I whisper as I look up into the never-ending sky.
"Make our love true, real and as infinite as the stars."
Cat Woman/Selina Kyle POV:
My eyes softly flutter open to the fast steps of an unknown person outside...
I haven't been unable to fall into a deep slumber for months on end. Even when I eventually doze off, I dream he is gripping my hand and looking through my eyes at the abandoned skyscraper, his eyes telling me to be brave. When I wake, I always end up feeling a deep and prolonged loss. Long after waking, it still remains... I just can't seem to shake the feeling.
In my soul, I know it is the loss of Bruce. It has always been Bruce.
Ever since I met him, we were inseparable, like kindred spirits. Even when darkness loomed over Gotham City, he brought out the hidden tenderness in me. I've never had a relationship with a person where I've truthfully been unafraid to confide everything in, until I met him. I'd always been content with being independent and free from the many burdens of a relationship, but that has now changed.
I can and will continue to take care of myself, but ever since I met Bruce, I have begun to forget a life without him.
That was until we parted ways. I went to explore the world in all its wondrous beauty it had to offer, but Bruce stayed behind, bound by his duty of responsibility and loyalty towards Gotham City.
I dearly wished for him to go, but he was adamant. Truthfully, the only reason I came back was to see him once more. I yearn to see the way his eyes sparkle when he's filled with the joy that still remains with him; to hear his soft words of kindness in my ear; to feel his hot breath against my neck; to notice how much being in his arms gives me an overwhelming sense of safety.
I craved him.
... I quickly sprung out of the comfort of bed, peeling away the sheets. My room was still dark, but it had enough light to see the moonlight peeking out behind the white linen of the curtains.
I rest both feet on the ground, the action giving a soft creak as I stand to see the source of the mystery noise.
Being a burglar is an incredibly dangerous job. You constantly have to watch your tail for anyone who will not be afraid to rat you out for your supposed "wrongdoing." For me, it was an act of survival and I will always help a friend. A job like that helps me silently see, it is needed in moments of unsafety, like these.
I carefully shifted a piece of my curtain that was slightly flapping in the cool open breeze. I take this time to peek out onto my balcony and into the looming city streets below.
My breath hitches in my throat as I take in a sudden rush of air. I see a figure kneeling stiffly while balancing on the railings, his dark eyes focusing on the ground below. His head started moving slowly upwards, so his eyes were positioned directly facing me. I notice his black cape swaying lightly in the wind.
Bruce.
Bruce and his green eyes were completely boring into mine with desire.
I can now see clearly the person I've been dreaming about for months. The person I've been obsessing over. The person I came back for.
I've been savouring every moment that we shared on the tower in Gotham City; it has been replayed over and over in my mind. The kiss with Bruce awoke deep feelings of pure serenity, but I feared the very emotion I felt would be lost forever. Until now...
"Selina."
Bruce's soft voice ripples across the balcony like light ocean waves at sea, with his wave trying to reach me, trying to be strong enough to surround me. His green eyes are now looking at me in pure desperation. I lean my back up against the wall opposite him, disbelief surely now written all along my face.
I exhaled a breath before finally confessing. “ I came back...” I say breathlessly. “I came back for you and only you.”
My mask of fake contempt now completely falls to the ground, replacing the raw and vulnerable side of me. I'm sick of masking my true feelings for him. I no longer want to hide; I want to be set free from this cage I have created for myself. I refuse to be a prisoner that is caged by her own mind.
Bruce does not waste a second more. He steps onto the small, peach-colored tiles of the balcony, his black books walking in small yet purposeful strides.
I notice how his bat mask hides the sin-filled secrets. I notice how darkness follows him like a corrupt cloud. I notice how his face and eyes never carry any hate when he looks at me. It's like our potent love for one another grows with every glance. A secretly shared miracle for us to have miraculously found.
Bruce continues to slowly creep up, slamming me against the stiffness of the brick wall. The amour of his suit was now heavily pressed up against my chest. Bruce directs his entire attention on me, his body exerting darkness but tinged with such ferocious desire. From this sudden act of proximity, I now feel my heart beating as deep as a pounding drum. Bruce's breathing now begins to match mine in all its intensity. He inches his face ever so slightly towards my lips, his breath now softly tingling against the right side of my ear. From the look of bewilderment in his eyes, I giggle, silently realising the fact that Bruce completely acted on his desire in the moment, without any regard for the potential repercussions of his own unforeseen actions.
I continually try and then fail to comprehend the situation at hand. My mind is racing and currently gone completely blank.
Why does Bruce have this overwhelming effect on me?
The Batman/Bruce Wayne POV:
Shit! What did I just do? What was I thinking by slamming her against the wall like that? She must feel disgusted and uneasy at my sudden advances. I really don't want to fuck this up right now, but now I'm terribly afraid I just did.
My hands pleadingly clench themselves around her waist, the leather on her suit matching mine. I can't help but feel this constant craving to be near her, to be closer to her, to feel the touch of her soft lips, to have the bliss of having her silky hair touching my cheek... I can’t stand this overwhelming tension; it's suffocating me.
But I promised myself I would show my true feelings to her.
I muster up the courage that I found beneath the stars.
The deep roughness of my voice breaks the tension between us.
"Selina"... I utter gently. "I am crazy about you." "I want you too."
I see a glimmer of lust fill Selina's eyes, which is the answer and the cease of all my doubts.
The magnetic force between us pulls us strongly towards each other, finally closing that dreaded gap that has kept us apart for so long. My lips are now completely surrendered to the sweetness of hers. Our mouths tightly lock together. A small moan sounds from her, finding its way to me, hence giving me any want of encouragement. Our foreheads press warmly together as my lips begin to sway with hers. This overwhelming sensation is occurring repeatedly, and yet I still can't seem to get enough of it. I continue to kiss her with such intensity that she fully opens her mouth, giving me complete access. I find her tongue as it tangles with mine.
I can no longer go through life without this euphoric feeling... I just can't.
Cat Woman/Selina Kyle POV:
His dominant mouth finds my tongue as I tangle mine with his. Small moans begin to rise in his throat as he makes a vain attempt to quiet them. His kisses continuously deepen, both of us not wanting to come up for air for the fear of it coming to a halt. I am starting to understand that this is his way of conveying every single feeling of tenderness he has for me. At this moment, this is his way of showing me his raw feelings and I am truly relishing in it.
Bruce's gloved leather hand begins to trail down from my waist, firmly gripping my left thigh as I feel myself getting pushed up higher against the brick wall, with my waist now directly opposite his. Mischieviously, I use my legs to wrap around his waist, my feet crossing tightly behind him. I want to use every chance I have to get closer to him. I need to be closer to him.
After getting a hidden reaction from him I still want to tease him further even after seizing the perfect opportunity from him. I need to get a reaction. I smirk as I strongly press my hips just above his groin and begin to slowly grind against him. He gasps loudly at the unforeseen movement of mine. My smirk now gets wider as his eyes find mine and he realises what I'm up to. He growls deeply and leans backwards, his eyes rolling to the back of his head.
"Selina," he mumbles in my hair, as he thrusts against my hips. "Selina," he says, as he says, as our grinds begin to match, "Selina," he says, as he begins to speed up.
To be continued...

Chapter 7
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steve POV
"I'll find you, honey.I'll find you"
I stand still in front of the river bank for an indefinite time.
I don't know if it's been minutes or hours.
I just know my head is exploding.
Millions of thoughts pass through it at the speed of light, a thousand ideas to put into practice.
But the only thing I can do is stay glued in place, unable to even look up to the sky.
I gaze incessantly at the body of water in front of me.
Dark.
Dark as her eyes.
How the hell did I get into this situation?
The rational part of my brain tells me to let it go.
I've known this woman for how long?
Just a week?
Why should I make my life so complicated?
She's gone, that's okay.
I can find other women.
Hundreds of other women would love me.
I'm Steve Rogers.
I'm Captain America.
I sigh.
But any other woman would not be her...and to speak is my instinct that dominates over reason.
I can't do without her now.
Absurd?
Very likely.
But I know I'm willing to turn the world upside down just to find her, if only to hug her again for a minute.
To know that she is fine.
I'm worried about her.
She is alone in a world that she believes is real and I have to understand why.
I need to figure out how to find her.
I need some answers and I know I'll be alone on this journey.
I absolutely cannot involve my teammates in all of this.
Nor Bucky or Natasha.
They are not just my friends and my team, they are my family and I could never expose them to such a great unknown if it were not strictly necessary.
Lily is needed only for me.
I can risk for her, and I will.
But I can't ask others to do the same.
I've done this before, to save Bucky, and I nearly destroyed the Avengers.
I put my friends, my family, in a horrible situation, pitting them against each other.
It was worth it?
Absolutely yes.
Would I do it again?
No.
The guilt would devour my soul.
I am brought back to the present by the sound of my smartphone.
I take it out of my leather jacket pocket and read the name on the screen.
Natasha.
She knows that there is something that worries me.
And that's why she is one of my friend.
She's not breathing down my neck, she's not trying to get the news out of my mouth.
She waits patiently in a corner until I am the one ready to open up.
I try to gather all my strength and be calm and carefree.
"Hey Nat, what's up?"
"Hi Steve, we're ordering a pizza. Are you one of us tonight?"
I can perceive the underlying meaning of her question, which is Will you deign to honor us with your presence tonight at least?
I know I'm acting like a bad friend.
"I don't know Nat, I'm already in my apartment"
It's not really the truth but my plans are those.
"C'mon Steve!" I hear her sigh.
"We haven't seen each other in days! Please don't leave me another night alone with Barnes!"
On the other end of the phone I can hear Bucky exclaim "Look I'm here and I can hear you Romanoff!"
A smile escapes my lips.
"Look, there's nobody in the tower tonight. It's just me and Barnes.Tony is in Miami with Pepper, Bruce is in Washington and Clint is with his family.
Come on don't get begged!"
After all, I could go.
It's true I'm not in the mood to see anyone but Bucky and Nat are my best friends.
"Ok, I'm coming.Give me 30 minutes and I'll be there"
When I'm about to hang up Natasha's voice stops me.
"Steve...I know there is something you're not telling me and that's okay, I swear!"
I hear a smile in her voice.
I close my eyes, God, she knows me very well.
"And whatever it is, I want you to know I'm on your side.No matter what, I will never judge you.Whatever it is we can work it out together.I love you, you know?"
"I know Nat, thanks.I love you too.See you soon"
I feel tears rise in my eyes.
I know I can entrust my life to this woman, she will always watch my back.
I walk briskly to my apartment.
I need to take a shower.
I have to clear my head.
Once I get home I go quickly and head to the bathroom, I begin to free myself from my clothes until the reflection of something small is bright on the floor catches my attention.
I bend over to my knees to be able to observe closely and understand what it is.
I reach out under the sink and there I find a small and delicate earring.
It is shaped like a butterfly and has wings covered with shining marine waters.
My heart begins to beat faster and faster.
This is Lily's and if she wasn't real I never could have had anything of her with me, right?
I remain crouched in this position to observe this little jewel resting on the palm of my hand.
Then I raise myself holding it in my fingers.
A little hope brightens my heart.
Maybe there is a chance that I will find her.
I enter the shower with my heart a little lighter.
After all, nothing is lost.
I know she exists, somewhere she is living her life unaware that I am real.
The hot water flows through my hair, wetting my back and running down to the drain.
I can't help but think about her.
I feel obsessed with this woman.
I think of the kisses we exchanged just before she disappears.
Kisses so full of passion that I can't get them out of my mind.
I lift my hand to my lips, with the thumb I stroke my lower lip.
The lip that she bit and sucked.
I immediately feel my erection grow.
I can't help it but my hand goes down my abdominals and then wraps around it.
I feel it throbbing, impatient for relief.
I close my eyes and at the thought of her, naked and compliant, I start pumping up and down with my hand.
I imagine my body buried in her warm fold.
I hear her moan my name as I move back and forth inside her, mercilessly.
My face sunk into her neck as I breathe every inch of her skin.
My hand squeezes harder and the pace increases.
I'm close.
I guess I lift my gaze from her body only to meet her beautiful eyes begging me to give her more.
Not to stop me.
And I don't.
Our hips bang against each other violently making a sinful sound.
I come wildly on my hand.
I'm out of breath, with my head down and my heart pumping in my ears at a furious pace.
I open my eyes.
I look at my now relaxed and satisfied cock in my hand and a wave of anger takes over.
I rinse nervously and get out of the shower.
I pass a hand on the fogged mirror and see my reflection, shining eyes and parted lips from the still panting breath.
My chest rising and falling trying to regain the normal rhythm.
I should be worried about her, trying to find a solution.
I shouldn't be standing here in the shower masturbating like any other teenager.
I quickly put on a pair of jeans and a blue shirt, grab my leather jacket and the keys to the motorcycle.
After that I leave the house.
Once on the road I get on the saddle and as soon as I hear the engine roar under me I relax.
Riding my beloved motorcycle relaxes me every time.
And so in the time of the road ahead I mull over my life.
Since I woke up in this new era I believed I had to resign myself to living a life in solitude and instead I found new friends.
A family.
I found my best friend.
I thought I was ok.
That all this was enough for me.
After losing Peggy, I didn't think I'd be able to feel anything for anyone else.
It was my choice to leave her but I would do it again a thousand times.
With my gesture I allowed her to have a better world, a safer place where she could live her life.
And she did.
She found love, she became a mother.
She lived surrounded by people who loved and respected her.
She lived to the full.
Over time, I got used to being self-sufficient.
Until I met her.
From that moment on I realized that maybe I'm not so complete on my own.
That maybe even the great Captain America is nobody without a great woman by his side.
With all these thoughts in mind I arrive at the Avengers tower.
I park my motorcycle and right in front of the entrance I find the delivery man with the pizzas.
I'll take them and hand him the money.
"Do you have a girl, son?" I ask him straight away.
He looks a little surprised by my question but then answers with a huge smile.
"Yes sir.She is at home now.We used to work together but now she is on a forced rest period. She has less than a month to give birth and I try to do a few more shifts to earn some extra"
Although visibly tired I can hear all the pride and joy in his voice.
I smile at him.
"Keep the change"
"Thank you Captain Rogers, I wish you a good evening" he replies back happy to have just earned a $ 20 tip.
Sometimes it doesn't take much to make someone else happy.
I enter and walk towards the elevator.
Once inside I think of that delivery boy.
He sacrifices his every moment for the family.
That boy will soon look his son in his eyes for the first time and he will know it was worth it.
All his hard work will be rewarded.
Love is sacrifice.
And I'm ready to sacrifice all my time and energy if that would mean finding her and being able to hold her close to me.
The elevator bling brings me back to reality.
I enter the large living room only to cross it and head towards the kitchen.
In the meantime, I try to put on a calm and relaxed expression.
Bucky and Natasha are from behind and are laughing, I lean against the door jamb and watch them.
It's nice to see how much they have bonded over time, they are both very important to me and I'm glad they get along.
"Anyone hungry?Buck you owe me 25 dollars.I'm tired of always paying for you!" I tease him.
"Sure man, thanks!" he replies without turning around.
I roll my eyes knowing it will never happen.
I smile at Nat , she has turned towards me now.
She returns my smile even if the look she gives me is veiled by a certain concern.
"Hey hunk, are you okay?"
Maybe I'm not that good at hiding my thoughts after all.
Now even Bucky has turned in my direction and from his gaze I know that now I can no longer hide my real feelings.
"Not again buddy..." my friend sighs in frustration.
"Why are you letting her treat you like that?"
Great.
Now he's mad at me.
"Woah woah woah! What are you talking about?Who are you talking about?" Nat interjects, placing a hand on Bucky's vibranium arm, just enough to get his attention.
She knows that if she asked me I would not answer her.
Instead my best friend apparently can't wait to share my secrets with the world.
I look down at my hands that still hold the pizza.
I hear Bucky sigh.
"Captain Idiot is getting treated like a idiot by a stupid little girl"
I feel the blood rising to my brain.
I take a step in his direction and slam the pizza on the counter.
"Don't you dare.Don't you dare talk about her like that. You don't know anything!"
I turn on my heels and walk out of that room.
Bucky is one of the most important people in my life and I would never want to tell him something that can hurt him, something that I need to regret.
I feel suffocated.
Obviously they both follow me.
If Natasha on one hand tries to calm me down and try to understand what is happening on the other hand, Bucky keeps teasing me.
I know he just wants to provoke me to finally let me vent...and he does it very well.
"Ok, Rogers who is this woman?" Nat asks me.
She is now between me and Bucky, her arms crossed in front of her chest.
She seems worried that I might hit my friend at any moment, I mentally roll my eyes.
As if I ever could.
"I met her a short time ago" I reply but Bucky doesn't give me time to continue, which he immediately adds
"And he fell in love with her like an idiot without even knowing who she is"
But shouldn't he be the one who should always support me?
"What is your problem?"
"My problem is that I don't want to see you suffer! You really don't get it?Jesus Christ Steve, wake up!"
I am petrified by his words.
But I calm down.
I know he only wants my good.
"I know man.Sorry, sorry if I yelled at you"
"Don't worry.I behaved like a real asshole.Sorry!"
"Okay, lovebirds.Save this for when you are alone. Now would someone explain to me what the hell is going on?"
Now Natasha Romanoff is angry.
I gather all the courage I have and tell her everything.
She listens all the time in absolute silence.
"Okay. And what happened tonight?Did she go away again?"
I don't know where to begin.
I'm afraid of their reaction but I try.
"She told me that she can't stay with me because...because we belong to two different worlds"
God!
Only the thought tears my soul apart.
"What do you mean?" tries to understand the redhead.
"She is convinced that I, this reality, are a dream. In the evening she falls asleep in her bed and wakes up here in New York. She doesn't know how or why"
I see Bucky roll his eyes.
His response was not long in coming.
"Are you serious man?"
Exactly.
I look away from his eyes.
Mine are full of shame now.
Out of the corner of my eye I see Nat punching him in the center of the chest and my friend immediately after massaging the affected area.
"What makes you believe in her words?" Natasha asks me softly.
That's why we are friends.
She always knows how to get me.
"Because she disappeared into thin air just as I was hugging her.One moment she was in my arms and I was kissing her" I answer embarrassed "and the next moment there was a glow and she disappeared.Gone"
Both of them are speechless.
Torn between the desire to believe me and the desire to laugh.
But from my expression they understand how serious I am.
Especially how I feel destroyed by it all.
Unexpectedly, the first to speak is Bucky.
"Damn man, I'm sorry. What can we do to track her down?"
I look at him without understanding
"What?" he continues "I saw her, I talked to her.She is real.I know you are telling the truth and I want to help you.Besides, I don't think you want to give up like that so tell us your plan and we will help you"
I see Natasha nodding.
"I only know her name. And her hometown" I admit disconsolately.
"This is a great starting point. You'll see that we will find her" saying Nat hugs me.
I feel a little more confident in the future.
Let's all go back to the kitchen.
We sit around the table and start enjoying our pizza.
For a while we remain silent.
"So Rogers fell in love, huh?" chirps Natasha happy.
"I'm not in love"
"Oh yeah, you should see when he's with her, he looks like a boiled fish!"
Bucky teases me while he continues to chew a piece of pizza.
I remain silent, impassive.
I try to focus only on food.
Nat obviously continues.
"Is she cute at least?"
"Choose your next words carefully, Buck..."
Only when I see two heads turning towards me at the same time I realize that I have spoken aloud.
Damn.
"No, he's not in love"
Bucky replies to Natasha and together they burst into laughter.
I can't help it and I smile too.
"I don't know if it's love but I feel connected to her inexplicably. From the first moment I saw her I realized that if I didn't try to know her I would regret it all my life"
I admit candidly aloud for the first time.
"Soul mates" the redhead say solemnly.
"Do you really believe in this nonsense?" Bucky teases her.
She looks at him but not worthy him of an answer, turns to me as if Bucky hadn't even spoken.
"Come on, give us all the details" Natasha says as she serves up another slice of pizza.
"Virtually nothing.I know her name and her city, or at least the city where she thinks she lives."
"What makes you say this?Do you think that if we went there she wouldn't be there?"
"Exactly" I reply letting me get a bit of discomfort
"The first time we spoke she told me that she would like to live in New York but she could not move"
"So something or someone is stopping her"
Bucky comes to the same conclusion as me.
I nod.
"Plus she seems to have temporal knowledge but she had no idea who I was.Who Captain America was.Or who the Avengers were.I think she lives in a deliberately modified reality"
"Ok, but why? What is the reason? Is she dangerous? The powers that need to be kept under control?" she murmurs thoughtfully to herself.
I had never considered this hypothesis.
A shiver runs down my spine.
"Some time ago I heard Strange and Stark talking about the multiverse and astral travel but not understanding very much I couldn't follow the speech" murmurs Bucky thoughtfully.
We are at a standstill.
"Tomorrow morning we'll take a jet and head to Brookville. Why are you looking at me like that?" Natasha asks.
"Fury owes me a favor, he won't ask questions"
We finish eating in silence.
"Do you think this is a good idea?" I desperately need their approval.
"Listen Steve, Romanoff is right! We have to start somewhere and Brookville could be a good starting point" says Bucky.
I get up to clear the table and my friends help me.
I start to go to my room but I stop at the door.
"Ok, see you tomorrow morning at 6 o'clock".
And so saying I go to my room hoping to be able to sleep at least a few hours.
??? POV
Unknown location
I am sitting at my desk.
Doctor Avery standing in front of me.
"Give me the latest updates"
"Subject 94941 was revived twice in the last 30 minutes. No intubation required. It does not seem life threatening but is weakening much faster than we estimated. The Stone is slowly absorbing all his life energy. If we want him to survive we should wake him up"
"Absolutely not" I reply with all the authority I am capable of.
"Doctor remember what happened years ago?Remember why the subject was placed in cryogenesis until we figured out how to sit him down without compromising his vital functions?Remember that he nearly killed you and two of your colleagues? We can't risk him awakening or even run away"
"I know sir but we don't have much time left.It is true that the stone protects the body that hosts it by attacking everything that tries to damage it but in these particular conditions the stone is just limiting itself to feeding on this body. And maybe...maybe the way to have the stone for us involves the participation of the subject actively"
"Explain yourself better Doctor Avery, I'm afraid not to follow you..."
"From our numerous researches it has emerged that the extraction of the stone it takes place through some magical rituals that we are not aware of, let alone know how to implement. But perhaps there is another way. That is that the subject voluntarily decides to give us the stone" concludes the doctor.
"The subject will never consent" my voice trembling with anger.
"Then we should make sure that he wants it" admits my interlocutor candidly.
"To use something he loves to bend it to our will"
Steve POV
I can not believe it.
It's 2:00 AM.
For hours I have been observing the ceiling and the city reflecting on it.
As soon as I got into bed, much to my surprise, I fell asleep right away.
Only to wake up after 45 minutes and not be able to go back to sleep.
I feel nervous about this trip to Brookville.
What if everything ended in nothing?
What if there's no answer for me?
I do not know how to behave.
Steve Rogers, the self-confident one, the man who always has a plan, now...niw he doesn't have a plan.
I feel like I'm groping in the dark and about to drag my friends down with me.
Maybe I shouldn't let them, maybe I should get them to stay.
Convince them that the best solution is to go alone.
I can't stay in bed anymore so I decide to get up.
Barefoot, I head to the kitchen to drink some water but as soon as I get down I notice that there is already someone in the kitchen sitting in the dim light.
"Trouble with sleep, pal?"
I recognize his voice immediately.
"Yeah.You?Why are you still awake?"
I see Bucky sighing and looking beyond the large windows where the New York skyline expands as far as the eye can see.
It's no longer the city we two belonged to.
It has changed, it has grown.
A bit like the two of us.
He turns to me, he is trying to analyze my state of mind so I try to shift his attention to something else.
"If I asked you a question would you be honest with me?"
I can see the confusion in his eyes.
"I am always honest with you"
"What did you say to Lily, in front of the door of my house just before I arrived?"
I am genuinely curious.
Bucky, on the other hand, is uncomfortable, I perceive it from small gestures.
He shifts his weight from foot to foot and repeatedly runs his hand through his hair pulling it from the root.
He can't look me in the eye.
"Buck I'm not angry, really!I'm just curious" I smile trying to give him some courage to make him answer.
"I...I told her I did not believe her.I did not believe in her real interest in you.And that I would protect you from her at all costs"
His words are full of embarrassment.
I squint my eyes and pinch the bridge of my nose with my fingertips.
I love Bucky but he is overly protective at times.
I think he still sees me as the skinny guy from Brooklyn.
He unexpectedly keeps talking.
"I really thought so, until I saw her look at you when she saw you coming with Sharon.Nobody can fake such intense pain"
I feel dizzy.
How could she have thought even for a moment that I wanted someone else when I could have her by my side?
"And then man, when you kissed her she literally went up in flames"
We both laugh.
"So if you want to know if it's worth it to me the answer is yes.You could be really happy together. And I just want that, that you are happy.I want you to put yourself ahead of everything else for once in your life. And if you need her for that, so be it!"
"Does that mean you like her now?" I tease him a little bit.
"Nope" he laughs.
"But I'm willing to give her a chance"
"And you Bucky? When will you think to find someone to love?" I ask him worried.
Bucky is a good and righteous man.
He is just a victim.
Yet he continues to see himself as the villain, as the man to be punished for all the crimes committed by the Winter Soldier.
As if he had a choice.
"Nah...I don't have time for this.I have an idiot friend to help"
We both laugh out loud and head to our rooms.
"Rest Steve, tomorrow you will need all your strength. And me and Natasha will be there for you"
"Thanks Bucky, thanks for everything.Goodnight brother"
"Goodnight bro"
So saying each of us enters our own room.
I lie on the bed closing my eyes and praying that everything will be for the best tomorrow.

nothing like it
Summary: Stefaniya and Natasha reunite and goes with the Avengers to Wakanda.
Warnings: None, just Wanda being StefNat's number 1 shipper
Tumblr media
[natasha's pov]
I step into the Black Widow facility, converted from an old hotel, feeling a little lost as I had only visited once since being back on the run. Melina happened to be in the lobby and almost walks right past me before doing a double take.
"Natasha!"
"Hi, Melina," I smile, hugging her. "Unfortunately, I can't stay for long. I'm waiting on Stefaniya and Yelena to get back from their mission."
"Ah, they are about three minutes out," Melina shows me a tablet tracking their jet. "What are you needing them for?"
"It's a situation with the Avengers. Stefaniya agreed to help out."
"Ah, okay. Well, I have work to get back to. Please stay safe, okay?"
"I will, mom."
I freeze.
Melina only smiles wider. "Take care of Stefaniya for us." With that, she walks away into the elevator.
I actually don't feel weird about the slip up. It felt natural to me, like falling back into old habits. I turn around at the sound of the front door opening and I'm met with a squeal and blurs of black, purple, and blonde hair rushing towards me.
"Hey, there, okay-- ouch, who knocked me in the chin? Yelena— Stef—"
"Calm down, girls," a voice I recognized as Alexei's comes from behind us. "Give Natasha some air, huh?"
Yelena noogies me on my head while Stefaniya gives me the happiest smile I've possibly ever seen.
"Welcome back, Natasha. We're preparing for dinner, join. We have donuts," Alexei motions to me.
"I'm sorry, I can't stay. Rain check?"
"Okay, okay. Go save the world, my little Natasha," Alexei gives me a pat on the back.
"Thanks, Alexei. Let's go, Stefaniya."
Stefaniya says her goodbyes and follows me out. Yelena whistles after me and I whistle back. I smile at the new Widows who had come in with Yelena and Stefaniya a few moments earlier.
I unclasp the chain around my neck and hold it out to Stefaniya. She gasps.
"You still wear it?"
I hand it off to her. "It reminds me of you."
Her cheeks grow pink as she shyly meets my gaze.
"Thank you for keeping it safe for me."
"Of course." I keep my eyes on Stefaniya, admiring her languid, carefree energy. "You look different."
"I haven't been sleeping, thanks for noticing," she touches the dark skin under her eye, chuckling.
"No, not that. I mean, you look happier."
Stefaniya looks into my eyes. "I am. Now I understand what you see in being an Avenger. Changing people's lives for the better. Undoing the evil in the world."
I nod. "Yeah, there's nothing like it."
"That's what I was telling Yelena on the jet." Stefaniya looks around the field. "Speaking of, did you forget your jet on your way here?"
I laugh, pulling out my keychain and pressing a button. The enormous jet uncloaks, revealing its sleek steel grey figure. I look to Stefaniya, whose face lights up in amazement.
"Oh. My. God."
"Come on, the others are waiting on you."
We step into the jet and the rest of the Avengers-- well, what's left of them-- gets up to greet Stefaniya.
"Hi, everyone," Stefaniya waves. "I've met some of you two years ago."
Wanda, Sam, and Steve welcomes her with hugs. Vision gives her a small wave.
"I missed you," Wanda whispers when they hug. Stefaniya hugs her a little tighter than the others, having been close to the Sokovian woman during the three weeks we spent together after breaking out of the RAFT.
"Hi, I'm Bruce Banner," Bruce and Stefaniya shakes hands.
"Stefaniya Kotova. It's nice to meet you, Dr. Banner."
"James Rhodes. Everyone calls me Rhodey," Rhodey introduces himself.
"It's nice to meet you, Rhodey."
"Alright, everyone. Let's get to it," Steve says.
"Where are we going?" Stefaniya asks.
"You'll see."
Steve and Rhodey makes their way to the front of the jet while the rest of us scatter around. Stefaniya sits next to me.
"Is he always this ominous, or...?"
I chuckle. "That's just Steve being Steve."
I start explaining everything to Stefaniya to get her up to speed. She interjects with a few questions here and there, even writing on her arm of important things she needed to remember. As I finish, she lets out a yawn and I realize that she probably hadn't slept for over twenty-four hours after finishing her mission during the evening. I feel guilty for not taking that into consideration.
"We've got about three hours until we reach Wakanda, if you want to take a nap."
I pat my lap and she nods tiredly. I help her pull the weapons off of her Widow suit and she lays down on the seats with her head on my thigh. I stroke my fingers through her dark hair, which now has chunky purple highlights. I grab a chunk of only the purple hair and start to braid it.
"I like your hair, I forgot to tell you that earlier," I whisper. I feel her lips curl against my leg.
"Thank you. I like yours, too. It's cute."
I hum a thanks. Her hand moves to my knee, tracing small patterns on the fabric of my suit until she falls asleep. I look up to find Bruce, Wanda, Vision, and Sam staring at us.
"What?" I snap quietly. They look away quickly, going back to their usual tasks. Wanda keeps eye contact with me for a moment and then I hear her voice in my head.
"You two are cute together."
I smile softly to her and she looks away, going back to Vision.
During her sleep, Stefaniya involuntarily jerked around a couple of times, which I figured out was from a nightmare. I had gently adjusted her body so I could hold her closer, which I hoped had calmed her by the way her movements stilled.
A few hours later, Stefaniya awakes and we're about to touch down.
"Drop to 2600, heading 0-3-0," Steve tells Sam.
"I hope you're right about this. Or we're gonna land a lot faster than you want to," Sam replies, pushing a lever.
Stefaniya grips my hand tightly in anticipation, watching as we approach a forest. She squeezes her eyes shut when the tip of the jet hits the trees, bracing for the impact, but it never comes. Instead, the jet flies through an opening in the trees and we enter the hidden kingdom, flying over a large body of water.
"What the fuck just happened?" Stefaniya whispers to herself. I smirk at her shocked expression.
The jet lands onto the massive runway, where King T'Challa and Okoye stood with a small defense force behind them. Steve and I step out of the jet first, Stefaniya trailing close behind me and the others following.
"Should we bow?" I hear Bruce ask Rhodey behind me.
"Yeah, he's a king," Rhodey replies seriously.
Steve shakes T'Challa's hand. "Seems like we're always thanking you for something."
"Uh, we don't do that here," T'Challa says to Bruce, who straightens back up with an embarrassed expression.
T'Challa starts walking back into the Citadel and we follow him. I sense Stefaniya's nervousness and link my pinkie finger with hers.
"I'm alright," Stefaniya assures me. I nod, not really believing her.
Bucky walks out, going in for a hug from Steve.
"How you been, Buck?" Steve smiles.
"Uh, not bad, for the end of the world."
Stefaniya looks at me, quirking an eyebrow at what Bucky said.
Okay, so maybe I might have left out a few things, but I just didn't want her to worry for nothing if it doesn't get to that point.
"What did he mean, 'end of the world'?"

The Curse Part 2- Avengers
Summary: Being saved from torture was her dream but it ended up being even harder to manage
3rd Person pov)
As the avengers watcher her body flicker they gasp as they see the scars, the bruises, the fresh cuts. Dried blood among the newly made cuts.
They rushed to her, Bruce checking for a pulse. One satisfied turned her over. He checked to make sure she was breathing
“Okay we need to get her to the infirmary” he looks around, Steve nods and as gently as he can he picked her up and ran to the infirmary. Everyone hot on his heels.
After quickly looking over her, she had cuts that needed stitches, a broke leg that needed to be set, about half of her ribs were broken, and she had some internal bleeding. She was then quickly taken into surgery.
It takes about 2 and a half hours, when they finally got the internal bleeding to stop they stitched her up and set her leg which was severely broken in multiple places. When they took her to her room Bruce went to the others to update them.
“So she made it out of the surgery. Her leg was severely broken in multiple places, it’s astonishing that she could even walk. Normally even one of us wouldn’t be able to stand up without help. We are testing her blood to see what is going on with her Powers.” Bruce says
“How long do you think she was with them?” Bucky asks
“It looks like she was experimented on. She has been there for quite a while. I’m going to go do some research on this see what is going on with her.” Bruce states walking off.
Bucky felt a tug in his heart. She look so young and innocent, he walked up to the the window.
“You okay buck?” Steve asks as everyone walks off.
“Ugh, yeah.” Bucky mumbles
“Wanna talk about it?” Steve asks
“It’s just. What i went through was really bad but she, she’s so young and has been there for so long. i just don’t know Steve” Bucky says shaking his head.
“She may need your help, buck. Only you can understand.” Steve shrugs as he pats his back. Steve turns to walk off stopping when he notices Bucky isn’t following.
“You coming?” Steve asks.
“ ugh i think I’m gonna wait” Bucky swallows
“Well at least shower, you stink” Steve laughs before heading off.
Bucky quickly gets to his room and takes a quick shower. Once done he grabs two bottles of water one for himself and one for her. He makes it to her room before she has woken. He puts her water on the table to the side and sits down in the chair that sits in the corner.
He carefully watches her, waiting for her to wake. After about 10 minutes he decides to play on his phone. He plays around with the phone still adjusting to the technology.
In the corner of his eye he sees her body stiffen as she starts to wake. That’s when she disappears. He can still see the blanket that now it looks to be floating. The impression of the top half of the bed disappear, meaning she at up. He looks over to where she should be.
“Ugh hi, im ugh Bucky. You are now safe from hydra. Your at the avengers compound. I can’t really see you so ugh im going to get dr banner in here so he can see if we can somehow make it so you can control it.” Bucky says rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. The bed made an impression of a body.
“Friday, get Bruce and tony here please” he says looking up
“Just notified them they will be here in about 5 minutes.” Friday responds
Everything goes quiet in the room, he can almost feel her eye on him. Most likely from the all the training hydra did.
“ ugh, well. I ugh my names Bucky. And don’t worry i won’t hurt you. I ugh have some understanding i was taken by hydra too. So if you need anything you can always come to me. I mean if we can get a way to communicate. Cause I’m guessing you can’t talk or you would have said something on the jet.” Bucky rambles on. He hears a slight huff of air come from her direction, hoping it was a laugh.
The fire opens to see Bruce and Tony.
“Where is she?” Bruce asks looking to Bucky
“She’s still there” Bucky looks over to the bed.
“That’s incredible” Bruce says look over to the bed again seeing the blanket that was still risen and the impression on the bed.
“Friday pull a monitor up with the heat signature” Tony says and a pop ip monitor appears to see a red human shape.
“So I’m guessing you want to be able to control the invisibility, they put some injection in you to stop the control, now i can make an injection to neutralize the stuff they put in you. And within about 4 day your body so rid of it. But i want your consent to do it because you would have to be asleep to get it done. But because of your voiceless cords being damaged you cant talk.” Bruce says. He pauses for a secound thinking
“Can you touch my arm?” bruce asks putting his arm out. She goes to touch it but her hand goes through his arm.
“Her had has gone through your arm.” Tony interrupts.
“Well okay how about lift your left hand to the side for yes. And dont put it up for no? How does that sound?” Bruce asks looking over to tony.
“She says yes” Tony say after a few seconds.
“Okay so would you like me to try to neutralize the serum they put in?” Bruce asks her looking back to tony.
“She says yes” Tony says after studying the screen.
“okay so i should have it ready within 2 hours, its not to complicated. Go ahead and try to rest. Try to go back to sleep in a hour or so. You just came out of surgery so you should still be quite tired. So i..” Bruce continues
“She said yes again” tony says smirking to bruce. Bruce chuckles,
“Okay, ill try to get it done soon so you try to rest now” Bruce says before he and tony walk out.
The room goes quite again. Bucky continues to sit in the corner, the screen a foot in-front of him.
“Do, You want me to go i can leave you alone if you want.” Bucky says looking back at the screen
She doesn’t raise her arm.
“So you want me to stay” Bucky confirms. She lifts her arm up to say yes.
“Okay then I’ll stay.” he nods, he watches her turn on to her side carefully. She starts to relax her body. Breathing deeply.
Her body flickers as she slow drifts off to sleep.
