Here are some of process snapshots of this piece of Astarion in Baldur's Gate.

I am a messy painter and I often adjust and change the designs as I paint. (Mostly because I don't have the patience to do proper line art haha)

I start out with a rough sketch, I usually sketch ideas out on my ipad and move to my cintiq to work with colors.

Next I block in rough color thumbnail. I keep this part messy as I just want to figure out the value structure and the overall mood.

At this point, I have collected a myriad of screenshots and reference images from the game, pinterest, and also from artists work that inspires me.

With the references on one screen, I start to paint the details, I work from foreground to midground to background. (Sometimes I'll bounce between the depth when I get bored from painting one thing for too long)

Sometimes after I block in the colors I'll make adjustments. I didn't like how warped the perspective was getting on the building on the screen right side, so I adjusted the vanishing point and added more tiers to the design. I went back into the game and looked at more how the stairs were designed and figured it out more thoroughly with a sketch on on top.

I think sitting down and doing the details is the most time consuming part. I still want the focus to be on the character despite all the detail going on the background. At this point I'm toggling on black & white filters constantly to check the value, grouping everything in the background together, making sure the lighting frames the subject in focus. At this point I realized, I forgot to paint Astarion's hair LOL, and that the bg was getting a bit too detailed, so I used a more textured brush and painted away some of the edge details of bg buildings.

Last, I make final adjustments, and I make a overall lighting/fx adjustment folder. Adding in some noise, adjusting the contrast, color balance, and lighting over all and call it done!

BENNY BOY :

Actually enjoys art class the most out of his other classes

Usually turns things in on time , but forgets the little things though like those stupid papers that tell you to copy and draw a nose 3 times

likes using charcoal pencils !! It’s his favorite out of everything , but he dislikes how messy it gets because the charcoal always covers his hands and arms .

not the best at painting , but he’s well known of his complimentary colors and what looks good with what .

Usually listens to music while he’s drawing if Taylor is busy or gone from class . He likes taking instrumental recommendations from Ashlyn .

Takes a drawing class , obvi , along with Taylor because he didn’t really want to be alone . Plus , She’s a nice buddy to have !!

TAYLOR !! :

Takes a drawing class with Ben as said before !! Whenever they have to pick partners , they go for each other the most .

she’s not the BEST at drawing honestly , but she takes it so she can study in machinery , like drawing and mapping out designs .

She likes using those kids markers , whatever their called . She prefers using the marker FIRST then going over it with pencil to really pop out the design . Digital art also works out for her , it’s one of her favorites because there’s so many options ( sometimes )

uses google for inspo or to copy certain parts down cause Pinterest is blocked on the computers and drawing gears is hard to do ( real 😿 )

Draws little cats on her work when she’s bored or smiley faces on Bens work just cause she’s silly ( trademarked smiley — Aiden / j )

Doesn’t have photography , but she does join Logan after school to help out with certain camera functions or just take photos of eachother for her memory book ( she has one , cannot tell me otherwise )

Also uses highlighters just cause . I mean they’re fun so why not . Her and Aiden share a bunch of random stickers that he got on like eBay for customization 😼

I swear I won’t repeat the same “ Aiden is totally good at art “ headcanon but …….. 😅😅

Went into painting just so he can have fun with the colors and , sigh … he’s good at mixing them . ( he’s not allowed too , but he makes it work out . Sometimes )

RARELY gets things done in time , like he’ll be doing anything other then drawing in class , yet somehow turn it in . Well , after a few weeks past the due date .

becahse of that , no one really knows what he draws but the teacher is impressed so 🤷

I like to imagine he has one other hidden room in his house , filled with unfinished paintings , sketches , projects , puzzles , yadda . He hasn’t really shown anyone where it is , or let’s anyone inside but has let Ben check it out a few times cause he’s special 🫶

Always does his projects in his room . Why ? Cause it’s bigger , more room to work , duh . Also , so he can BLAST music because music just gives him ideas of what he can work on ( projection go hard 🤟🤟🤟 )

he doesn’t really care what he uses , but he hates charcoal , opposed to Ben . It gets everywhere ( in a bad way ) , it’s dull , he hates having to blend it with those stupid paper things because they sound and feel gross , yadda yadda yadda . Butttt he LOVES markers and crayons . Colored pencils work if he’s feeling slightly unmotivated .

uses giant AF canvas’s cause more room to work plus more detail . He loves detailing the most random stuff because it all had to blend correctly , right ? 😼☝️

likes pottery , but he doesn’t like the feeling of it drying on his hands . It’s gross and crusty . Plus he got in trouble once for throwing some of it around the class lol

Totally draws on his arms with sharpie ( ashlyn tells him no cause poisoning or something but pshhhh what does she know ? He’ll still doodle on his pants ) .

Probably does Rubix cube art when he’s feeling extra silly . Also glues and sticks whatever he can find onto what he’s working on for pizazz . But he doesn’t really like anything he’s made so 😿

also the reason why he has so many unfinished projects is because woopsy doo ADHD . It’s always “ oh I should work on this one “ but then there’s “ but this once looks funner to do “ but oh then there’s a “ which one would take me less time to do ? “ and “ if I do this first will I have time to do the other one ? “ and either ends up doing nothing or multitasking .

ASH TRAY !!! :

Takes painting with Aiden because she really didn’t want to go alone .

thought about pottery once , tried it , hated the feeling of it getting under her nails and it kept drying up and she had to wash her hands constantly and it kept getting in her hair and it was a bad experience . ( more projection )

painting really isn’t her favorite , but she likes the look of the colors mixing and it’s kinda like dancing to her , with the long , sometimes constant movements and new variations . Look it just puts her in a slight trance .

doesn’t do well with creativity coming into play , but she managed to find a way with turning art into dance , like referencing other dancers online and copying their moments onto a canvas to make it dramatic or something .

Prefers prismacolor pencils over most things , sometimes joins Taylor and Logan after school to try out photography .

Sometimes she and Aiden would share headphones and put on a shared playlist or a podcast on spotify . They always bicker about it though because ashlyn skips through songs often and Aiden can’t sit on a podcast unless it’s playing somewhere background ( still working on this one cause would that work ? Sharing headphones and listening to stuff or would that be too loud cause I’m not sure )

for once please can she see what Aiden has done like he’s always on his phone or playing with another puzzle from his backpack how do they fit in there anyway just Plsplslpsopls he has a good grade in this class how he’s so confusing sometimes double U - tea - eph

TIE - LER !! :

Joined because he already does baseball why not choose something to maybe help him relax

Bad choice , does not relax him ( most of the time ) , can’t understand color theory ( same ) , ended up getting put into the same class with Aiden ( remember when Aiden threw pottery ? Yeah . . Also ashlyn is there that’s cool but still )

He still likes hanging with Aiden , he just won’t admit it and it gets harder and harder too when he keeps writing and drawing on his work ( and him too 😡😡 )

Pretty fond of water coloring , it’s one of the few things that he enjoys doing in his pass time . . . But he’s not that good at keeping the water to a minimum so it ends up dripping everywhere .

He’s not that good at art either , but he’s pretty good at poses , specifically ones he can remember like the “ batter up ! “ stance in baseball or his signature “ crosses my arms and stares at you begrudgingly “ . He’s REALLY good at that one .

He teaches Ben Guitar , Ben teaches him easier ways to draw . Not a babyish style , but just a simplified way to do something without putting too much thought into it .

he and Taylor team up in art projects , but not in class , at home . Ash and Aiden usually partner up in class , and since he and Taylor have seperate classes there , who’s to say they can’t help eachother else where ? Twin telepathy ! ( I think , idk )

Just finishes quick and turns it in . He gave effort , and that’s good enough . If he really wants to try and ‘ finish ‘ finish it , he will . Trust .

DIALOG(an)UE !! :

Literally the only one in the group who really takes pottery ( he’s lonely someone help him )

dw Barron isnt there . He got kicked out for throwing clay at people ( mostly Logan )

Actually really likes taking pottery , it’s fun !!

He makes pots for the plants back home 💪😋

pretty good at using the utensils , one of the only people the teacher can trust to use them correctly

the pottery wheel isn’t his favorite favorite because sometimes it spins to fast and clay gets splattered everywhere , but it’s better then starting from scratch , and turns out really nice when he gets into the zone or something

made mugs for his grandparents !! ( and the gang , which they all used theirs for many different things . They love it )

not that good at coming up with particular designs , so he usually asks for help . Doesn’t matter who , he’s open to everyone’s ideas 😋☝️☝️

takes a littttllleee while to turn things in on time but he’s a good student so the teacher doesn’t mind

Dean liked that time of the morning, sometimes, when the sun shined brighter than the usual, pouring into the motel room from the half closed curtains, falling over the bed and wrapping everything in a warm yellow hue.

He liked getting up early on those days, carefully laying your head, nuzzled into his chest, back on the pillow and slipping out of the creaky wooden bed, as silent as possible in order to not wake you up.

He'd get clean, shower, shave, exercise a bit and scribble down a few notes for the day, make a few calls to Sammy bored at home, whining about how he wants to come hunting with you and him on the next case.

Dean comes to a stop when he catches a glimpse of your asleep face, how you shine under the sun directly falling over you, peaceful and quiet.

You two met back when you were little, he was a boyish kid, sprayed with strong freckles in the summer and a big grin with missing teeth. He shoved you off the swing on a random afternoon at the kids park, and when you started crying he helped you up, gave you one of his random car toy and declared himself to be your bestfriend.

After that day he took really seriously his job, always bringing you silly stuff , then school came in, and you did everything together, homework, group projects, playing out, everything really, where Dean was, y/n was too.

You discovered his parents shady work soon enough, on a winter evening, when John came back home covered in blood.

You learnt the way, holding onto Dean hands, taking steps together, as much to John's disdain, you learnt the hunter way, and Dean always defended you whenever John came up with stupid shit against you.

He never left you behind, always bringing you to hunt with him, always having your back, and you in the meanwhile...fell.

"Y/n..."He called out your name and you stirred up with a slight groan, dragged out of your sleep, eyes slowly blinking open as you searched for Dean.

Who can you blame? Dean is so easy to love, and you have him around you all of the time.

"When did you left the bed?" you mumbled, eyebrows furrowing, sitting up and giving yourself a moment to get aware of your surroundings, but immediately leaning onto his hand as he combed his fingers through your messy hair, chuckling just slightly.

Maybe you're misunderstanding these affectionate gestures, maybe he's just being platonic, just your bestfriend since birth, maybe he doesn't like you back.

"Didn't wanted to wake up, it was too early."

Yet he always manages to makes you feel that familiar warmth in your guts when you stare at his face, and feel his touch, the bright sun making you recognize a few golden flicks of color in his apple green iris, and you can't stop your feelings.

You want to be the only one to have enough time and light to be able to notice those details, you want to he Dean's one and only.

Dean notices the silence and raises an eyebrow, frowning confused, he knows you well enough, and yet, you ask yourself why he doesn't catch on your feelings.

"M'fine." You crack him a smile, and after leaving the motel the drive is weirdly uncomfortable, air thick with misunderstood tension.

"What are you doing?" you raised your head from your hands, heart spiking up, yet frowning when he suddenly pulled over in a long abandoned way at the start of a forest, in the middle of nowhere.Dean killed the engine and gave you his best serious face, turning to you.

"What's going on with you? You're acting so out of yourself and I---don't understand what's wrong? Is it me? Did I do something wrong or what?---"

He expressed himself with hasty and frustrated hands gestures, stuttering even, it was unusual of him, it made you hold your breath as you listened to him babbling.

"I'm---"

"Don't bullshit me, m'not stupid, what now, you don't trust me anymore?"

The situation got you blocked worse than ever, it was now or never, because he's not going to believe to any excuse you make up, and if you confess it could either end good or ruin your friendship forever.

Dean's eyes drilled into yours and he gripped the steering wheel of the precious Impala he got from John a few weeks ago after turning legal, he pursed his lips, eyebrows furrowing together, and he almost seemed to start to get angry because you opened and closed your mouth like a fish, not uttering a word.

He dropped his shoulders disappointed after a few seconds of silence, staring at his shoes as he turned Baby back on, and before you realized it, you had one hand fisting his hair and the other one holding his nape.

Your lips met.

You couldn't stand how he pried his eyes off you, maybe you wanted that attention of his forever, for yourself only, maybe you wanted to be selfish.

Dean tensed up but didn't hesitated, hands flying from his keys straight to your waist, holding you almost possessively as he tilted his head, knocking your nose softly together as he deepened the kiss.

When you two pulled apart a few seconds passed just by watching each other in silence with wide eyes.

"I love you too I guess?..." Dean muttered and you couldn't help but giggle a bit, nodding.

"I love you Dean." You giggled more as he pulled you in another kiss.

Maybe today was a good day, maybe something's horrible it's waiting for you two later, but right now it doesn't matter.

Dean Winchester loves you back, with no maybe.

❝WARMTH IN HAND❞

❦ summary; it's always cold, but how can such a gesture be so warm?

☛the author's notes; apologises if this feels a bit awkward. i was getting a bit of that vibe, so please tell me if that's present here!

☪look at the catalogue?

Ignihyde has always been one of the colder dorms. Not because of its environment (there were literal fires burning brightly just outside the dorm), but more so because of how much tech that was in the dorm. As most would know, high functioning computers are prone to overheating if not cooled properly and, since most of Ignihyde has such computers, the AC in the dorm is always turned up high.

Because of this, there have been multiple instances where you’re left shivering in the dorm while visiting Idia, teeth even chattering together on some occasions. He never seemed to give the temperature much thought, whether because he’s adapted to the cold or because his hair is made out of fire, it was up to a coin toss.

You’ve always seemed to manage, somehow, sometimes using one of Idia’s jackets or using Ortho as your portable heater. Multiple times, though, you do ask Idia if he’s cold when the biting freeze is a bit too much and he responds with an indifferent shrug. This doesn’t mean that you ignore the barely there shivers that wrack his body.

So, you’ve taken to knitting while hanging out with Idia, needles clacking together as you work. There were a few instances where Idia would turn in his swivel chair and question the reason behind the noise he kept hearing through his headphones.

Holding up the mess of yarn and needles made him quick to understand and turn back around, feigning disinterest and calling it a ‘boring hobby’ before going back to his grinding. This only made you chuckle and continue knitting, Ortho sitting next to you and watching with great interest (and warming you up as well).

“Hey.” You raise your head hearing Idia’s call, seeing him pull his headphones down and rest them on his neck. “You’re still doing that boring task?”

You smile with a small sigh, shifting a bit and tugging Idia’s jacket closer to your body. “It’s not boring, it’s fun!”

Idia almost rolls his eyes and only sighs. “On a scale of one to ten, knitting is a mega zero.”

“Oh, shut up! You’re dying on screen right now.”

“W-Wha-?!” He’s quick to snap his head back to the screen, panic seizing him when seeing the red tinted screen. “Gah!”

It’s amusing to see the housewarden scrambling, giggling as Idia tries to salvage his character’s life. This gives you ample time to continue your little project, although a bit slower than before, lips pursed in thought as Idia’s panicked rambling serves as your background noise. You hope that, when you’re finished with this, it’ll go over well.

It takes a few more weeks to finally finish what you were working on, messing up a few times and having to redo one of the rows or having to get more yarn from Sam’s.

It’s a bit messy, a few crooked stitches here and there, some of the colors look a bit off, and it’s abnormally long, but it’s still a nice scarf. Ortho praises how it looks and it does give you a boost of confidence, but you’re still nervous.

Three knocks on the door and Idia’s yelling “it’s open!” have you entering his room, finding the third year in his chair as usual, nimble fingers flying across his keyboard almost effortlessly as he maneuvered his character across the screen.

You watch him play for a bit, seeing him being clearly engrossed with what was happening on screen and his headphones being firmly secured on his head. After a few silent minutes pass, you decide to make your presence known.

With the scarf, you hold one end of the accessory in one hand and prepare yourself, a gleeful smirk curled on your lips as you imagine Idia’s reaction. You then use a bit of momentum to swing the scarf over the back of the chair and tug back a bit.

“Hrk! A-Ah!” Idia whips around, a pout on his lips at such an abrupt greeting. It only makes you giggle, grinning widely. “Wh-What the heck is wrong with you?!”

You only hold the scarf up, still smiling ever so widely. “Surprise~”

Idia huffs at you, tugging his headphones off. “What was up with that sneak attack?! You caught me while I was vulnerable.”

“I wasn’t that bad. Now hold still for a bit.”

Idia narrows his eyes a bit, though letting you lean in closer. You manage to wrap the scarf around Idia’s neck, although he still sulks at your sudden greeting. Once the cloth is around his neck, Idia raises a hand to the knitted wear, thumb running over the yarn slowly and trying not to catch on any gaps that he finds.

“Why are you giving me this?”

You smile, bursting with excitement and the fact that he didn’t immediately express dislike of the gift. “Well, it gets cold in Ignihyde. I thought I could give you something to keep warm, y’know.” You shrug a bit, trying to relax your stiff posture with little success.

Idia brings his hand back to the scarf, letting himself feel the yarn against his pale skin. At least he was finally able to realize what you were doing all those other times in his room. He didn’t exactly hate it. And it was made by you, after who knows how many weeks of work. It was... It was nice. He burrows his face a bit into the scarf, citrine eyes averting from your form anxiously waiting for his words.

“I guess...” A small huff from Idia, feeling his cheeks warm with embarrassment. “I guess I can take this. It's got plus fifty warmth.”

You guess that’s good enough. You smile brightly and Idia thinks that smile is warmer than any scarf you could ever give.

The next time you visit, Idia’s wearing the scarf, lower half of his face burrowed into the yarn as he plays.

Current digital art process!

Acting on @shkika 's request because making my redraw for this post actually ended up giving me more confidence in my digital art process! As such, I'm gonna use it as a reference. And if this walkthrough of sorts turns out nice, I might do it again as my process evolves!

I started off with a quick sketch of sorts, trying to focus both on movement and volume, and get the general idea of where each element is located. I edit the image dimensions and placement of things a lot in this phase, as my ideas often tend to change once I actually begin drawing them. In this case, as I got it down, I decided I wanted it to look like some cheesy animal motivational poster, so that influenced where the text was.

From there, I began to clean and sometimes edit the sketch, mainly by thickening the lines to make the shapes more definite, and erasing what wasn't necessary and interfered with other parts. Volume is one of my biggest focuses in my drawings, so I try my best to get the volume of each character at least hinted at with the lines. This is something that will probably remain in my process for a while, as I quite dislike doing separate lineart and like the messy, sketchy feel anyway.

I also wanna mention, in addition to having references and such in other windows, I've recently begun having a second mini window of my current drawing off to the side so I can see what it looks like overall more easily, regardless of how much I zoom in on and flip the main window. It's quite helpful!

For reference, this is what the final sketch looked like:

Then, I went on to add the flat colors. Another tip: I almost always set my sketch layer to "Lumi & Shade" because I think it makes the line colors a lot richer, but since it's based on what colors are underneath, it colors the lines a lot more individually than changing the sketch color as a whole. Here's some comparison to a version without the effect (left):

Then, I add some shading using a (really nice) marker brush. This is honestly one of my favorite parts of the process, just trying to carve out all the volumes, especially since I usually use a pretty blue color for shadows!

Sometimes, I honestly just leave drawings finished at this step, because I adore the sketchy look so much, and because I really don't like the tediousness of more realistic rendering in the painting process; from what I've seen/experienced, it often involves having to basically paint the entire image over again, which I've realized I find REALLY boring (and is also why I clean the sketch instead of making a new lineart layer). As such, one of my hopes is to reach a point where I could almost completely avoid having to clean up the image in a traditional painting method, instead being able to lay down lines and colors so well that they convey nearly all the volume necessary on their own, still have that sketchy appeal, yet also look finished and professional.

Alas, I did do a bit of clean up on this image, but I think it still turned out alright!

Here's the finished drawing! I'll have to practice with this process a bit more to truly solidify it as my digital go-to, but nonetheless, I think this came out adorable! Thanks again shkika for the ask, and thanks to @mintscampi for the sweet prompt! I hope you guys like it!

To be honest, it's a messy process and I don't recommend it lkdjsalkdjas

The idea

You know, those prompt that live inside your head and you daydream about it. I get inspiration by the things I watch, things that happen in my life and things I'm into at the moment. Which it's dangerous because I could lose interest in the thing that inspired the story and then it becomes a wip forever... And I write those ideas and snippets in my phone.

2. The script

The ideas and snippets in my phone become a coherent script. Sometimes I add descriptions of how I want to draw the scene or what expression the characters have. I do this by chapter. When a chapter is defined and with an outline, I go to the next stage. I don't worry about the future chapters lsdjakldj

3. The doodling

I actually make doodles of the panels in my notebook. I even add the dialogue planned so I can get a feeling of how it's going to look like at the end. In this stage I make changes in the script and dialogue, delete scenes if I get a better idea or realize it's too much work, decide what I want in the panel so it conveys feelings better (Do I show his entire face or just his eyes?). I don't think about composition, it's more about the vibes

4. The sketching

I make a new file and I start sketching the doodles. Sometimes I make changes lkajsdklas nothing is set in stone. So it's a loose sketch but I add the dialogue to get a feeling of how all the panels look together. I usually sketch 3 pages before going to the next stages (lineart and coloring) because if I sketch the whole chapter, I get overwhelmed.

5. Lineart, detested

I make the lineart. I have no comments, it's boring. I look for references here.

6. Coloring, beloved

It's the fun part! I take the opportunity to experiment stuff and try to find ways to be more efficient.

7. Beta

I update the script with all the changes, I try to make it more readable and less messy, and then I send it to my beta so they can correct my grammar and stuff because I don't trust my English (love you, Amanda).

8. Final touches

I make the corrections and export the pages. Because the way I work, sometimes the transitions of the pages look awkward, and I try to correct that too. I always leave the cover to the last and it is at this moment that I make it (when i'm tired)

9. Posting!

I usually reply to the previous comments before posting (I'm sorry to all people I haven't reply to because I haven't posted and now it's too awkward... I love you). But yeah, that's basically everything.

🎶Random Doodlebops headcannons cause I'm bored and it's about time I make some🎶

🎶 they all have about the same love language, that being physical affection 💕 be prepared for lots of hugs

🎶 previously mentioned, Moe "secretly" has a favorite blankey he's slept with since he was little (DeeDee and Rooney know but don't wanna embarrass him by telling him they know 🤫)

🎶 all their bedrooms are color themed (of course)

🎶 Moe's favorite color is purple actually, but he does like orange too

🎶 Rooney and DeeDee will randomly fluff/mess up Moe's hair to be playful (even tho it's already messy)

🎶 SO MANY tickle fights

🎶 as they're very close siblings, they will usually end up in a cuddle pile and fall asleep sometimes like that

🎶 DeeDee and Moe have helped Rooney before many times with his inventions, usually messing them up, but he tries not to get mad at them

🎶 Moe and Rooney are scared of the dark and need nightlights, and with DeeDee being the oldest she protects them and helps them feel safer (although she gets a little scared too sometimes)

🎶 bus driver Bob let Rooney try to drive the bus once and almost crashed it. Never again.

🎶 DeeDee and Rooney constantly are picking up after Moe and try to remind him to not leave his stuff everywhere

🎶 Rooney will stay up too late sometimes working on inventions, causing him to fall asleep wherever he's working

Hello! I am a beginner artist and I love ur art!! Super pretty and the colors are very tasty. Do you have some tips? I'd love to see your art process!

HELLO ANON!! first of all i am very honoured that u would ask me this because 90% of the time i feel like i have no idea what i am doing and like im still a beginner artist myself DSDSJDF. i would love to share some stuff i learnt and some stuff about my process (regardless of how messy it is sdfhsj)

(final piece)

here's an old example of my process i found! while the steps sometimes look different for other pieces, i feel like this is a good demonstration of how the basic structure looks.

1. the sketch - this is where i'm mainly figuring out how i want the piece to look. i was redrawing a screenshot for this piece so it looks a LOT neater than what a lot of my other sketches look like, for example, here's the process of me figuring out my recent drawing of haise:

in the first two steps, i was mainly working with showing myself what the piece was going to be. the last one was where i used references/technical knowledge to try and show whoever will be looking at it what the piece was

2. cleaning up the sketch + base colours. these two usually occur simultaneously because i will get bored cleaning up the sketch midway through and want to start adding colour LMAO. on a more practical note, sometimes putting down the base colours and having a better idea of what the finished product will look like might make it easier to refine things.

a note: cleaning up for me doesn't mean doing lineart. it mostly means erasing any overly messy lines on the sketch and redrawing small parts to make it look tidier where needed. i often leave it 'messy' at this stage, too. like here:

3. light/shadow. this is my FAVOURITE part because it's where the piece starts pulling together. the method i used in the current piece was putting a multiply layer over the colours folder and filling in where light would be obstructed. after that, i used a luminosity layer to put in some bright sunlight. marc brunet has a great way of explaining it by advising to pretend that the light is the camera and you're behind the lens. this is such a good way to block in average light/shadow values! sometimes this looks a bit crazy because everything is still so messy but that is why we have...

4. rendering. this is where i fit all the remaining pieces of the puzzle together. i'll refine the colours a bit more -- e.g. colouring in the eyes, -- and fiddle a bit with the shadows to add some more variation to the hues/value. this is where i think a lot about light and shadow theory and try and make it look more realistic. marco bucci saved my LIFE with his videos about ambient occlusion and ambient light (part 1 / part 2) -- essentially, what i keep in mind the most is that if a plane in shadow is facing the sky (or is open to any other form of light that isn't the direct light source) it will contain ambient light. it is SUCH a game changer when you add it to your pieces, trust me, even if youre lazy about it. if needed i'll pull up some references to make everything look good!

5. rendering... part 2? honestly this step kind of blends with the last one as i tend to do it simultaneously. i basically clean up all the messy lines from before by painting over them! with the majority of the colours i need put down, i can just eyedrop them and paint over anything that's needed. this also comes in with the light/shadow, where, if i need a more subtle hue for either/or, i will eyedrop it and brush it in.

some further notes:

i very rarely use references during the first stages of my sketch. i think it tends to look quite stiff and unnatural if i rely too hard on the. and i personally prefer the creative room when the idea is still being conceived. references come in when i can look at what i have down on the canvas and have a fairly decent idea of what i want, including pose, composition, etc. it's essentially a first draft to guide me to where i want to go with the piece. it's when i'm done with this that i bring out references, and even then, they don't necessarily have to be the exact pose -- i'll usually get a couple of pics which show what i need to double check and keep them up as a guide. by the end of the 'sketch', i usually have a basic construction of what i need to continue, even if it's messy.

i use very soft brushes when putting down colour because it allows for more hue variation. like i said, i enjoy eyedropping and brushing in colours afterwards, so this really helps!

layer modes are ur friend! i try not to rely on them too hard during rendering because i like the freedom of painting over but they're very useful when you're blocking in your initial colours

sometimes, when i feel like i want to try something new with my art, i'll keep pieces that inspire me up in front of me. i have two of sui ishida's art books and sometimes i'll just flick to a page that oils the Art Gears in my brain and keep it open while i draw. i don't necessarily reference it, but i like having it there so i can glance over every once in a while. i don't usually make a conscious choice where i'm like "ok i want to render skin the way he does" but it's more like. my brain knows what it likes in his art and it'll try and push that part of my art in a similar direction.

honestly the best advice i have is that art is very much based on vibes. everytime i've tried to think too much about it, to do things 'correctly', to rigidly stick to art theory, my art has not come out nicely. i think the technical parts of art are important to know and understand but i also think it's important to let your knowledge come through naturally when it is needed instead of pressuring yourself to do things 'right'. tbh you probably already know that but it's something i forget a lot so maybe it serves as a helpful reminder?? sedsfhsl

this is just mostly the Heathers + V & JD ueueueue some of them may be OOC ueueueue

Artistic side

▪︎ McNamara:

- she'd be the type to have a cute cartoony and vibrant artstyle, and if it were the modern days, she'd definitely be an animation kid

- artstyle is very inconsistent, one second she’s doing an anime artstyle then the next she suddenly know how to draw semi-realism

- uses pen, paper, markers and colored pencils but eventually switched to digital

- isn’t afraid to try other mediums but she’s super comfortable with digital

- doodle!! doodle!! doodles!!

- vents via art

▪︎ Duke:

- she’s defo a painter kind of artist (more comfortable with oil painting), draws whatever she sees; objects, old pictures (she sometimes draw her gfs but hides it from them)

- experiments with different mediums

- she’s the type to say “lol yeah this is just a sketch” to a finished-looking output

- hates her works and probably burns them (the others cry for her but she’s like “lmao”)

▪︎ Chandler:

- isn’t really the artistic type but since she’s surrounded with artists she kinda has those amateur artstyle that doesn’t look messy but has no knowledge in anatomy and such

- draws a lot of clothing designs (likes to draw floral designs)

- her gfs support her and they try to make her designs real and they wear it for her

- she just draws for fun or if she’s bored

▪︎ Veronica:

- can’t draw for shite, very messy and shaky hands because of coffee and little to no experience

- the type to draw pp for fun

- but fr, she would attempt to do realism and loves drawing with graphites

- does scenery artworks and portraits

- combines traditional and digital (linework in traditional, colorwork in digital)

▪︎ JD:

- the type to draw small edgy stickmen but when he draws seriously its like he's a facking god

- draws in a monotone color (usually black)

- comfortable with using only charcoal and graphites

- throws his art away (the only thing he and Duke bonds over /j)

- loves drawing animals (especially ponies)

Playing instruments

- plays the acoustic and electric guitar, maybe some drums but she likes playing the acoustic guitar more

- she's also learning to play the bass (being taught by JD)

- ironically plays the clarinet

- just likes playing the recorder and drums, had lessons for both

- she also plays maracas and harmonica bc she likes annoying her gfs

- is being taught the guitar by Veronica

- loves learning different kind of instruments, although they don’t get used anymore once she finds a new instrument to play (tho if there are similar functions, the skill will go over it)

▪︎ Duke:

- was most likely forced to play the violin

- is learning other instruments via her gfs’ and recently fell in love playing the drums

- being taught the drums by both Veronica and McNamara :]

- every single time he sees or/and touches a piano, he feels his mom around and would be emotional, he doesn’t have any plan on coming back but gets sentimental when he gets a chance to play it

izuku doesn't take his eyes off of you until he's escorted out of the room by the staff. his heart is beating out of his chest right now; did that even really happen? did he actually touch you? it sinks in slowly but surely. he did! he touched you! your hand was so soft and fit so perfectly in his. like it was meant to be. and the way you looked at him? he resists the urge to palm himself through his jeans.

He mostly grew up with his mom around. Since Error was still in school the time him and his twin Gradient born. But their dad always tried his best to be a part their life as much as possible. Pj always looks up to him. When he was 2 his brother Cil was born and he take the "older sibling" thing a little too serious. Even to this day she cares about Cil more than anyone. She is currently living with her father for 6 years. He doesn't like to talk about his mother.

PJ is known for being the extremely hot-headed, jerky and sassy student in the school. He can't stand people generally and is quite mean towards the newbies. Sometimes Fell or SF messes with them just to make them angry. But his lover Omni is always there if he gets a little bit too mad. If Omni isn't there her group will always make sure that the fight is settled. And since his "passion" for fights is very noticeable, you might see him around the faculty room a lot. It doesn't mean that they are bad at their classes ofc. I mean, your father works with these people of course you're gonna get free tutoring from them. You have to have good grades now.

He is the captain of the basketball team. He is pretty short when you compare her to her teammates. 1.70? (5.5) But that doesn't stop him from winning every game.

At lunch time if he is bored, he goes to the library to mess with his cousin Goth. Goth usually gives her his ancient legends books since PJ kinda likes dark magic and stories about it so she would leave him alone.

His room is messy. She has some classic posters on the wall, like the basketball team she likes, a very attractive lady, her favorite singers album cover etc. He has a corner filled with sports equipment and unused cloth materials.

☆They like drawing too. They usually try to make animations by themselves. Then he gets frustrated and chokes a plushie.

It’s so quiet.

It’d be perfectly silent if it wasn’t for Jihoon clicking his mouse and writing on his keyboard occasionally.

If you close your eyes, you can imagine yourself sitting in a clearing deep in the forest. It’s winter in your mind, the kind when days are short and darkness comes soon and when everything is covered in snow that swallows all the noise. You pull the blanket around your shoulders closer to your body. It’s cozy, and it’s safe, and it’s so quiet that it soothes your mind and soul. It hits hard and deep, feeling this kind of thing you never knew before. You can understand, even if in a different way, why the studio is a shelter for your lover.

“You don’t have to stay here,” his voice brings you out of your reverie, “I appreciate the company, but you must be bored.”

You open your eyes to see Jihoon looking at you, his chair turned so he’s facing you, one side of his headphones moved away from his ear. He’s cute and domestic, with his comfy home clothes and slightly messy hair, and you’re sentimental, which is a dangerous combination for your already melting heart. You shake your head.

“You look like you’re about to fall asleep there,” he says, a hint of nervousness to his voice.

“No, sorry, I just got lost in my head,” you smile at him, reassuring him you’re not bored at all. Were you a different kind of person, you might be, but as you are, you’re content and happy just sharing a space with him. Especially since you know what a privilege it is. Not to mention that, yeah, it’s a safe space. For both of you, which makes it even better.

“Don’t apologize,” he reminds you softly, “As long as you’re happy, I’m happy.” You nod, sending him a little wooahae and he sends you one right back with a gentle smile. Then he turns back to his work, slipping the headphones back over his ear.

You close your eyes again, ready to dive back into your daydreams, but you notice that it’s not quite as quiet anymore. Looking out the window, you see that the wind’s picked up, rattling the branches of a nearby tree, shaking the colorful leaves off them. They dance in the wind and you follow them with your eyes. You fix your posture and shift towards the other end of the couch, leaning on the armrest near the window.

It’s easy to zone out again, as you watch the leaves being carried by the breeze. You can hear them scraping against the window sometimes, and in those few precious seconds you admire their warm colors and veins knitted all over their surface. How easy do they have it, you think, being cradled by the wind, carried from one place to another. How much of the city they must see on their journey, how many fates do they change, just like the flutter of butterfly wings.

You don’t realize you’ve laid your head on your hands, lying down on the couch and watching the muted carnival behind the window. Nor do you notice the pair of eyes watching you from further in the room. He’s curious as to what you’re doing, what is so interesting that it keeps your attention for hours as you wait for him. Well, to be fair it hasn’t been that long, but still.

He gets up from his chair quietly and sits next to you, making you jump a little. He gives you a smile, rubbing the small of your back in apology.

“What are you doing?” Jihoon asks, looking out the window but nothing catches his attention. It’s just a usual fall scene. You see his confusion and chuckle, sitting up and inviting him under your blanket. He joins you, pulling you closer to him. He already feels that whatever you’re about to say will make his chest tight. You don’t disappoint.

“Just look at it,” you smile, “The leaves are so pretty and flying all around. Look at them on the ground! They’d make that crunch when you step on them! And children like to kick them around and wade through them. It’s perfect.”

“They’re dying,” he murmurs, earning himself a chiding squeeze to his thigh.

“It’s romantic,” you shush him before chuckling, “But so be it. If they’re dying, they’ll get absorbed back into the ground and feed the trees that grew them. Like circles…” He sighs, long and feigning exasperation. The adoring gaze gives him away though.

“I can’t believe you got all that just from watching the falling leaves,” there’s a tender smile on his lips as he pulls you even closer, kissing your temple.

“You’re like that too sometimes,” you remind him, and he’d love to tell you he’s not that sappy but he has to admit he has his moments.

“As long as you keep it to yourself,” he mutters under his breath. It surprises him when you grab his pinkie with yours and finish the gesture, your thumb touching his and the curled fingers of your hands colliding.“Your secret is safe with me, I promise,” you kiss his cheek. The loving look in his eyes and the silent I love you hidden in the pressure of Jihoon's lips against your forehead? Another secret between just the two of you.

stan marsh

-tried to stay away from weed to avoid being like randy (it doesn't work)

-he's not addicted, he just has easy access to weed and likes the feeling it gives him

-massive alcoholic

-he doesn't enjoy going to parties, but there's free alcohol there so he usually takes a stash to the bathroom or a more private area to be alone

-smokes with kenny behind the school when he gets bored with class

-dyed his hair blonde after his dad called stan his mini-me

-has really shaggy bangs, but his hair is weirdly soft (he accidentally used shelley's shampoo one time and now he can't stop)

-mostly c's with a few b's

-always listening to music during class and then proceeds to complain about never knowing what's going on

-the quarterback of the football team and actually very good at it???

-pretty tall, about 6'1

-has a notebook filled with song ideas, but never records/performs the songs he writes
