Mental Factors in Buddhism - The list of 52 important factors, Part 2
In Theravada Buddhism of the Southern Tradition, in accordance with the Abhidhamma Sangha, there are a total of 52 kinds of mental factors. The rest of 25, as follows [See the first 25] :
25 beautiful mental factors (sobhana cetasikas) accompany the wholesome consciousnesses (kusala citta). They are:
The Social, Psychological, Emotional, Intellectual, and Mental Reasons Behind Excessive Doubt
Introduction:
Doubt is an essential part of human cognition that prompts inquiry and critical thinking. However, some people doubt anything and everything, leading to excessive skepticism, which can affect their social, psychological, emotional, intellectual, and mental well-being. In this article, we will explore the various reasons and logics behind why people doubt anything and…
a doodle bc the prohibitedwish slowburn potential goes crazy when you consider prismo, whos been refusing to deal with his own issues, got scarab as a personal fix-him project
so much to get wrong but they do got an eternity to get it right
originality is the "aesthetic" you are looking for. individuality is the "it factor" you are looking for. from your personality, pieces, hair, cadence of voice...even down to your favorite foods or special interests. you aren't supposed to change every aspect about yourself to be more palatable for everyone you meet. that actually makes you BORING!!!
"but so and so is doing this" "but what if people don't like it" ... so??? don't take people disliking your aesthetic as a sign that you need to do something different. like, of course they don't like it or have second thoughts - it's because THEY wouldn't do it themselves because it wouldn't go with THEIR given aesthetic. HELLOO??????
unless they are like minded, stop asking other people to weigh in on the things you CLEARLY like about yourself. especially if it's a core personality trait or interest. your LIFE isn't a group project. your LIFE is not a co-op game.
and yes... people will try to force you to assimilate and follow the crowd by speaking misfortune on your rebrand, your expression, your hobbies, your chosen path out of jealousy. however, that jealousy is lowkey unspoken respect for the fact you have the candor to go against homogeneity.
your authentic dedication to everything that makes you YOU is what will bring you the illustrious life you so fervently seek in the end...not some book a celebrity wrote or a youtube video. it's in YOUR DNA to be a star already in anything you want to do.
there isn't one tutorial on this world wide web that will help you if you don't realize you have the components within you first. there is NOTHING wrong with you!!! you are EVERYTHING that is right already!!!
NEVER conform to the way they think you should shine.
I need people to understand that Jason doesn’t kill because he was trained by assassins to do so, Jason was trained by assassins because he wanted to kill
How Joe’s relationship with fame (or lack of thereof) influenced his relationship with Taylor (in a negative way.)
It feels very much like a “the fox and the grapes” situation, where the fox tried to get to the grapes, couldn’t, and judged it “too sour”.
In the same way, Joe tried to reach that status/success/level of fame, and for a minute it did seem that that’s where he was headed, and at the time he seemed to be cool with Taylor’s own fame (and reputation and so on). Then, when the pandemic changed the trajectory of his career, whilst the opposite had happened to Taylor’s who was soaring after the success of folklore, his attitude towards it (and towards her) allegedly changed, too.
All of a sudden, fame and celebrity were something to deride and avoid, and it seems like he extended this approach to his relationship with Taylor, so then she became “too big to hang out”. From what we know so far, it seems like he started looking down on her somehow, tolerating her instead of celebrating her, not realising she was indeed the best thing at the party.
So basically he became disparaging of fame (and of her) because he couldn’t get to her level 🤷🏼♀
I was seeing the comic of Emmets self destructing behavior even after he and Ingo reunited and wow… that implication it’s not the first time…
How many times must have this happened? How many times until Ingo knew snapping him out by a gentle hand on his shoulder? What bad habits did Emmet develop while being on his own? With "Ingo" encouraging him to be more healthy? Just so deliciously dark! I love it?
On the other hand how much strain Ingo's body going through when he has his moments he sees "the man in white" his body switches to "life-or-death-mode" receiving a little bruise could cause him to fall into full panic mode and try to treat it like a lethal wound if not for Emmet snapping him out of it and calming him down again.
While both have their moments of seeing their subconscious guardian angel both react differently.
Emmet is apathetic towards "Ingo" dismissing him since he’s not even there. He reacts mentally.
Ingo’s whole body could react to small bruises and injuries like they could kill him and depending on his support to get through it. He reacts with his whole body.
Also when Ingo’s aware he’s probably insecure about all the scars he’s got on him now. How many times he almost died… he doesn’t want the real Emmet to know. It’s bad enough that "the man in white knows"…
YES YES!!! This analysis is so perfect!!! If you'd allow me to ramble a bit...
Emmet's self destructive tendencies have been going on for a while since Ingo's disappearance. He has his Elesa and his depot agents to support him/remind him to not truly forget about himself (Elesa trying to take more time off from her job to check on Emmet/invite him out to lunch to make sure he eats, the veteran depot agents frequently checking up on him during the day/encouraging him take more breaks/interrupting his smoke breaks "accidentally", ect) but it's been hard to say the least. It will take some time for these habits to truly go away even with Ingo back, especially on his bad days.
BUT ALSO YEAH! Ingo! If Emmet appears at the corner of his eye suddenly or he sees him from a distance (any sort of blurred visage - as the man in white always appeared as) he might have a knee jerk response - a sudden urge to run or seek safety - but ultimately it won't be too serious.
His body reacts the most drastically when he is already in a state of injury and Emmet is within eyesight. Elevated heart rate, shortness of breathe, blurred vision, body tremors: his adrenaline levels will spike to an unnatural level causing a ton of stress on the body, since his mind is basically telling his body that he's on the brink of death. The quickest way to calm him down if it were to get this bad would be to have Emmet out of his sight until he can calm down...Not very ideal when the source of one's panic works the same job as you, in a work environment where slight injuries aren't too uncommon
I feel like The Terror and Black Sails have similar vibes (homoerotic men on boats) but I've never seen The Terror, would you recommend??
i wouldn't say the vibes are especially similar beyond surface level but if you liked black sails you will almost certainly like the terror because it also has devastating monologues that will forever raise your standards for storytelling, filthy sailor guys with every disease, a guilt riddled rage-fuelled captain who can't stop lying and alienating the people around him, strong and well written anticolonial themes, a cunty second in command who steals every scene he's in, schemes that go horrifically wrong with tragic consequences, homoeroticism, and boats.
I know I have wayyy too many fan projects on my to-do list to warrant adding another one onto the pile (cough cough the 30-minute love triangle video essay), but for years now I've been wanting to do a rewrite/novelization of the Shadow of Ronin video game. Because like, the lore of this game has so many fucked up implications that never get acknowledged - but unlike with most fucked up Ninjago lore, the game is just obscure enough that not as many people are familiar with it enough to facilitate a broader discussion about this stuff. And dammit, I need at least one fic talking about how messed up SoR actually was and if I cannot find it I guess I'll just have to create it.
Mental factors (Skt: caitasika, Pali: cetasika), in Buddhism, they are identified within the teachings of the Abhidhamma (Buddhist psychology, 3rd century BCE and later). They are defined as aspects of the mind that apprehend the quality of an object, and that have the ability to colour the mind. Alternate translations for mental factors include "mental states", "mental events", and "concomitants of consciousness". Within the Abhidhamma, the mental factors are categorised as formations (Skt: samskara) concurrent with mind (Skt: citta).
Mental factors are aspects of the mind that apprehend the quality of an object and have the ability to colour the mind.
The caitasika dharma, means phenomena arising from the mind, suggesting that the mental factors are not primary to the mind but arise within a larger framework. A mental factor, again, is defined as the aspect of the mind that apprehends a particular quality of an object. Because it is characterised by the qualities of activity and non-neutrality, it has the ability to color the mind in dependence on the way it manifests. Hence, a feeling of desire from seeing what is conceived as a beautiful object affects the other mental factors that are present at that time, and this colors the whole mind.
The relationship between the main mind (Sanskrit: citta) and the mental factors can be described by the following metaphors:
The main mind is like screen in a cinema, and the mental factors are like the images projected on the screen. In this analogy, we typically do not notice the screen because we are so caught up on the images.
The main mind is like a king who sits passively on a throne, and the mental factors are like the king's busy ministers. It was suggested that the main distinction between the mind and mental factors is that the mind apprehends an object as a whole, whereas mental factors apprehend an object in its particulars.

Everytime I see people sharing their headcanons on what kind of relationship Battinson would have with Dick and Jason, I just think of this clip from Modern Family:
Like you CANNOT convince me that this version of Bruce wouldn't immediately burst into tears at even the slight insinuation that his kids don't wanna hang out with him.
Battinson definitely seems like the Bruce that would have the most difficulty coping with an empty nest.
étoiles had his armour on for most of his convo with pomme but had a small moment where he took it off momentarily and pomme JUMPED on that small little moment where his code scar was visible to ask about it jsdjjsdjd pomme admin was just waiting to make a comment on it for ages i know it
In discussions about mental health, I am so tired of the only voices mattering being other people or other people who do not deal with a condition/disorder or a specific situation.
"Here's how I deal with loved ones with [x] condition!"
"If you do [y] because of [x mental health reason], you're selfish and everybody who loves you is having their lives made harder by you!"
"If your symptoms are [z], you're gross, and you deserve no sympathy for struggling"
I understand to an extent why people do this, but holy hell, as somebody who struggles and struggles often, the last thing any of us need to be told is that we're a burden that others have to carry. And it's terrible how everybody else's feelings but ours matter - even if we are the ones most affected by our condition or situation.
If you are dealing with issues surrounding your mental health and well-being, know that everything above isn't true; you are worthy of patience, understanding, kindness, and love. You are worthy of being listened to without judgment. You don't have to apologize or "make up" for who you are or what you struggle with.
The reason WHY we are granted a choice on how the story's gonna end in 2.1 is based on many factors:
! My spectaculations ! Slight spoilers to HSR Penacony 2.0 Main Story !
As stated in 2.0 by Aventurine near the end of the Main Story, he's gonna make us know the truth and then let us decide
And this choice may be one of the crucial ones to a different ending, as you can probably help either Penacony OR the IPC
The next important decision would be picking between Black Swan and Acheron. Yes, they aren't enemies but we still got some little choices in 2.0, such as 'who do you trust more?' and a person in which we trust may alter the ending
The last choice may be connected to Firefly being a Stellaron Hunter theory, and the part changing the outcomes could be our acceptance of this side of her (if we either resent her or still decide to be close).
If we choose the close option then maybe the Express will get accused of working with the Stellaron Hunters giving spice to the story?
