Out of Bounds Planets

Do you have Out of Bounds planet in your chart?

Out of Bounds (OOB) is quite literal terms. OOB planets want to push the acceptable limit in society. The energy is running wild, free, and heightened. Maybe even chaotic if underdeveloped. How does OOB manifest in the chart?

[not a professional, things i write mostly quoted OOB articles]

Out of Bounds planet are the planet in your chart with more than 23°27′ declination (the infos are varied from 23°26′ to 23°28'). Meaning that it moves outside of Sun's gravitational domination.

Since the planet is out of the Sun's dominion, OOB planet acts on it's own. Either way, OOB planet emphasizes on its need for independence. OOB planet may exhibits extraordinary, unusual, and out-of-norm behavior. It is also associated with creativity and eccentricity. Think of Uranian or Aquarian energy, something like that. Some sources said that the higher the declination is, the more extreme a planet behavior can be. However some articles also mentioned that the degree doesn't matter. Generally, OOB adds pressure and turbulency in a chart (esp Moon).

Not every planet can go OOB. The Sun, Lunar Nodes, Neptune and Chiron, for example, cannot go out of bounds. Meanwhile, Mars, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Uranus and Pluto can go OOB. Jupiter can go OOB, but it is a rare phenomenon.

How to find Natal Out of Bounds planet:

Go to astro.com

Enter birth time and generate chart as usual

After you have the birth chart, click on the PDF Additional tables (bottom left)

You will have a pdf file, look at the planet positions column (i used Jackie Chan's chart here). The Red colored number indicates the planet that exceed the declination limit, either to South or North.

You can also check your OOB progressed status here. Sometimes progressing planets can become OOB or ceased to go OOB (return to normal).

Which OOB planet do you have?

Out of Bounds Mars

Mars is the planet which have most occurrence of OOB. Mars can travel up to 27° declination. The manifestation of OOB Mars will depend on the sign as well, but generally the typical assertion in Mars will turn into heightened instinct & physical energy. You may think OOB Mars is violent (although in some cases it can be), but it's mostly found in courageous, creative, and ppl with leadership skill. Other than that, OOB Mars can be an indication of great athletic / sports skill (Jackie Chan has OOB Mars). They usually want to do things their way.

It can make a person to be more aggressive, impulsive, and daring. It can also be associated with extra forces, stamina, and a need for domination. That's not always the case tho, sometimes it can result on the opposite (less impulsivity, fear of taking risk, etc) depends on the placement and expression of energy. Generally, natives with OOB Mars are more prone to impatience, selfishness, or anger issue. (i had OOB Mars lol)

Out of Bounds Moon

Moon is the second most common "planet" to go OOB after Mars. The declination can go as far as 29° and the impact is most dramatic of all OOB planets. You can find a lot of articles on this one. OOB Moon can increase natives' need of freedom and solitude. However, since it rules emotions and the subconscious, OOB Moon can result in heightened sensitivity, intuition, and emotional instability like mood swings. Also there may be constant feeling of depression, guilt, or doubt. Since the Moon associates with mother figure and safety, OOB Moon can indicate lack of safety and love from mother side. Also the sign of your Moon can tell what aspect in your life that makes you feel unsafe. Notice if the Moon is in conjunction or aspect to other planet, bcs there would be a certain effect regarding that matter as well.

Jungkook's Juno Persona Chart analysis

What is the Juno Persona Chart?

-> The Juno Persona Chart is a chart focused on the spouse you will most likely marry, your soulmate, the one for you. It is based on an asteroid, here called Juno (3). Juno (Hera for Greeks) was the wife of Jupiter (Zeus) in the roman mythology. It shows us the relationship you have with your future spouse, the one for you. This post is just a study of JK's Juno Persona Chart. Note that it's not the accurate natal chart of jk's future spouse, this just tell us about JK's FS's personality and their relationship!

Planets & Asteroids Placements

Sun in Leo 11H, 21°

About FS: The sun (and Juno) represents her personality. Here in Leo, it literally tells us that she is the queen. Leos have a charismatic and royal aura, attitude, even without trying hard. You shouldn't see it as someone entering in the room, and literally trying so hard to be the queen. Leos placements don't have to try, they may not even intentionally do that. seeing people in the comments on this post being mean about jake's spelling mistakes makes me so fucking mad. so i wrote a ficlet about it. it's just sad fluff with jake being the sweetest human on the planet and needing a little comfort. also i used actual comments from the post in this fic because they made me so angry. i literally wrote this in one sitting so sorry for the inevitable typos.

You unlocked your front door, doing your best to be as quiet as possible. You’d gone out to dinner with a few of your friends, which had quickly turned into a night at the bar (as it often did with this particular group). You’d had fun, but now you were simply exhausted and ready to be in bed. You tiptoed through the house – silent as possible in case Jake was already asleep. You entered your shared bedroom to find him sitting up against the headboard, his phone in his hand and his soft hair up in a loose bun. One lamp was still on, bathing him in a warm, yellow light.

“Hey, baby.” He gave you a soft smile and you couldn’t help but smile in return. “How were your friends?”

“Oh they were great.” You said, peeling your shirt and pants off and tossing them into the hamper. “We had fun. But I missed you.”

Jake smiled wider, but you couldn’t help but notice that his smile didn’t quite reach his eyes. Maybe he’d missed you more than you thought he would. It was a Saturday night, and the two of you usually spent Saturday nights together when he was in town.

“I missed you too, y/n.”

You threw on some comfy sweatpants and an old band t of Jake’s before climbing into bed. You settled in close to him and he immediately placed his phone on the bed next to him and wrapped his arms around you, nuzzling his face into the crook of your neck. He sighed into your skin and closed his eyes. That was sign number two that something was off with him.

“Did you do anything fun while I was gone?” You asked him, extracting the hair tie from his hair so you could run your fingers through his soft locks.

“No.” His voice sounded muffled from where he had his face pressed against your skin, but you could still hear the flatness of it. He sounded sad.

“Hey.” You said, pulling yourself from him and forcing him to look up at you. Now that you could see him up close, his eyes were red rimmed – like he’d been crying. The sight made your heart ache. “Jakey, what’s wrong?”

He just shook his head and looked away. He seemed embarrassed too.

“Jake, what’s wrong baby.” You caught his chin with your finger and gently turned his head to face you again. “Talk to me.”

“It’s stupid.” He said, lips pouting out while his brown eyes pooled with sadness and hurt.

“Clearly not if it’s upsetting you so much.”

He sat up suddenly, grabbing his phone off the bed from where he’d placed it a moment before and unlocked it. He handed it to you and you looked to see a new Instagram post of his pulled up. It was a picture of him in one of his robes and it looked like he was skipping rocks. The caption simply read “Holding up the falling skies.”

You furrowed your brows in confusion and looked at him. He wasn’t looking at you – instead staring intently at the bedspread like it was the most interesting thing in the world.

“I don’t get it.” You said, trying to hand the phone back to him. “It’s a cute post. What’s the matter?”

He sighed, pushing the phone back to you.

“I fucking misspelled “skies” earlier.” His voice was so quiet you had to strain your ears to hear him. “I didn’t realize until right before you walked in.”

You giggled lightly, amused by his dramatics.

“So? It’s just a stupid Instagram caption. Who cares if you had a typo?”

He just sighed deeply again and shook his head.

“Read the comments.”

You clicked on the comment section and began scrolling through. The first few were harmless: just people wishing that they were there with Jake, one person telling him to go to bed (that one made you laugh), and a few comments about his robe looking piratey.

You kept scrolling, momentarily confused before you began to see comments that were far less kind. Waiting for him to edit the caption, must have been drunk when he typed this, jaket doesn’t know how to spell ‘skies,’ pookie needs to just go to bed, this does not grammatically make sense, lol. You sighed as you read them, suddenly beginning to understand why he was so upset.

You know he’s always struggled with his ADHD and his dyslexia – and you know for certain that he’s always been embarrassed about it too. He feels like he’s stupid for making simple spelling or grammar mistakes, and he’s always so nervous about posting. Not too long before tonight he’d texted you with a caption, followed by “does this grammatically make sense? Lol.” You’d told him it was fine and then he’d accidentally copy and pasted the whole message into his caption. He’d been so upset and you’d spent hours trying to make him feel better. And now a bunch of his so-called “fans” were making fun of him for having a simple spelling mistake. It made your blood boil.

“Jake,” you looked over to see his bottom lip wobbling – fighting to hold back the tears that wanted to fall. “Oh baby.” You said sadly, clicking his phone off and placing it on your nightstand.

You opened your arms and he all but collapsed against you, wrapping his own arms around your waist tightly. You felt wetness leaking onto your shirt where he was finally letting his tears fall.

“Jakey, it’s okay.” You soothed, burying your hands in his hair again in an attempt to soothe him.

“They think I’m fucking stupid.” He admitted. His voice sounded so defeated.

He mumbled something in response but you didn’t quite catch it.

“What?”

He shook his head against your stomach, seemingly unwilling to voice what he had just said any louder.

“Jake,” you admonished, scratching across his scalp softly. “What did you say?”

“I said that I am fucking stupid.”

Your hands stilled in his hair, frozen at his words.

“Jake, look at me. Look at me right fucking now.”

He rose silently, though his eyes were looking anywhere but your face. You reached up, placing your palms on both of his cheeks, forcing him to meet your gaze.

“You listen to me, Jacob Thomas Kiszka: you are not stupid.” You brushed a few stray tears from beneath his eyes with your thumbs. “Do you hear me? You. Are. Not. Stupid. Don’t you ever say that about yourself again.”

He stared at you, brown eyes glassy. His beautiful lips were parted, and you wanted nothing more than to kiss the sadness off his face.

“Jake, you are one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. You’re fucking brilliant;. You read more than I ever had in my entire life, you quote philosophers at me, you remember thousands upon thousands of songs and artists that my brain can barely keep up with, you write incredible song lyrics.” You pressed a soft kiss to his lips before pulling away again. “You can play a song you’ve only heard once, and you’re an incredible artist – even though you don’t think you are.”

His cheeks were flaming, shyness overtaking his sadness after your words. No matter what, Jake is never good at accepting compliments.

“I’m sorry.” He finally whispers.

“Sorry for what?”

“For being a crybaby.”

“Jakey,” you sighed, sliding your hands down to squeeze his shoulders. “You’re allowed to be upset – especially when your own fans are being so shitty. But you are not allowed to call yourself stupid. Because you’re not.”

“Okay.” He says, but you’re not letting him get off that easy.

“Say it.”

It’s his turn to look at you in confusion.

“Say what?”

“Say ‘I’m not stupid.’”

“Y/n…”

“Nope. You’ve gotta say it. I wanna hear it from your own mouth.”

“I’m not stupid.” He says quietly, lips quirking up in a smile despite himself.

“Perfect.”

You pressed your lips to his again, this time deeper than the one before. He parted his lips, allowing you to take control of the kiss. You poured as much love as you possibly could into it – trying to tell him without words how much you love him. You finally pull away, leaving him to look at you dazed.

“I love you.”

“I love you too, Jakey. Now let’s go to bed.”

He nods and you reach up to the nightstand and turn the lamp off, plunging the two of you into darkness.

“Y/n?” Jake asks, his voice quiet and a little unsure, but still loud enough for you to hear him.

“Yeah?”

“Can I be the little spoon tonight?”

Your heart melts at his question and you smile, even though he can’t really see it in the dark.

“Of course. “

Jake lies down, turning his back to you and pressing himself up close to your chest. You wrap your arm around his waist and throw one leg over him and pull him close to you, effectively caging him in against you. You bury your face in his hair and he lets out a contented little sigh.

“I love you, y/n.”

“I love you too, Jake. So much. More than you’ll ever know.”

Cassie, Bart, Tim, & Cissie are writers but Anita, Greta, & Kon are theater kids

Anita, Greta, and Kon being sad theater kids then you have Cassie, Cissie, and Bart being sad writers and then there’s Tim who’s just like that for some reason

If Tim’s not available, Anita’s the best at espionage and subterfuge. Anita just refuses to do deep covers which is why technically Tim’s the go to for espionage like these maniacs could convince a complete stranger that they were twins and raised together

Tim can write a 57 paged research paper in an hour, he can outwit almost anyone, he can make up an identity on the spot, he can even lie to Batman but creative writing is the bane of his existence which makes no sense to Cassie or Anita and they’re so fucking offended

Bart’s a jack of all trades but he prefers to write like angst and shit so he writes like angst no comfort mind fuckery with characters doing stupid stuff while in danger (the rest of yj is so offended when they find out it’s about all the shit he does alone when they’re too busy)

Kon’s an extreme hater so he just reads Cassie, Anita, & Barts fics and fucking acts them out in the most dramatic way possible like they’re fucking up diplomatic shit in space while a green lantern tries to rephrase everything they say so this planet won’t decide to go to war with earth but Kon secretly taught himself this alien language specifically to recite dialogue from Anita’s third account that she thinks no one knows about and it does not end well (for Kon or intergalactic diplomatic relations)

idk man. to your second thing, I'm not trying to be more rude than usual so I apologise if that's how it's coming across. also, I'm at least half doing a bit, and sometimes me Doing A Bit can come across weird in text

to your first thing, again, idk man, but I think part of it is that I tend to get kinda skittish around things where people, like... hmm. idk how to phrase it, but whenever people get really dismissive about the distinction between funny fantasy magic stuff and real-world stuff, it makes me kinda nervous, I guess?

like, I get really irritated about astrology and stuff. I feel like it's really important to be able to, like, keep a solid grip on what's actually really real -- like, with Goncharov stuff, everyone was being like "yeah goncharov is the greatest film ever", but when push comes to shove, people will admit that "yeah, this is a bit, we're doing a bit, Goncharov isn't a real movie", y'know? (some people refused to put down the bit, though, even when asked to (sometimes by people with mental health problems that were being triggered) and those people are assholes)

but for some reason with this walrus-fairy thing it seems to almost be going in the opposite direction? like as it becomes a bigger and bigger Bit, more and more people are coming out of the woodwork talking, basically, about how they just straight-up do not believe that science is real. and THAT makes me reeeeal antsy.

like, I know people mostly aren't thinking about it like this, and I'm overthinking it, but, like, think about it like this:

a fairy (in the way the question was originally intended by the OP, and the way that I am interpreting it, and to some degree I believe the way that most others are interpreting it) is an inherently magical creature; that is, a creature whose literal existence would mean that the basics of how we understand the physical world are wrong from from the foundation, and thus, all of science -- which is all built on that foundation -- is also wrong. this is not a case of "a new scientific discovery that builds on or recontextualises previous scientific history", this is a case of "the fundaments of science are incorrect in their base assumptions".

a walrus is literally just a regular animal. it's not a common animal in most parts of the world, but on a sliding scale of magical to nonmagical, a walrus is exactly as "mundane" as a squirrel, a dog, a cat, a bee, or, like, a car or a t-shirt (or a pine tree or a dollar bill or a sand dune or a cloud or the planet Venus...). walruses exist in our world and we know that they do -- not for absolute certain, because obviously nothing is absolutely certain, but as close to absolutely certain as it's possible to get about almost anything, so we can say that, in practical terms, it's an absolute certainty. I am more certain that walruses exist than I am certain that you, the person asking this question, exists.

if you live in a world where it's physically possible that a fairy can arrive on your doorstep, that means that literally every single element of our understanding of the physical nature of the world is fundamentally incorrect, and all of science needs to be thrown out immediately, because we can no longer rely on it safely -- which also means that every anti-science person from six-day-creationists to antivaxxers are, at a foundational level (if not in specifics), correct that Science Is Wrong.

if you live in a world where it's physically possible that a walrus can arrive on your doorstep... well, you live in that world, right now. is it likely? no. but would it mean that all of science is wrong? no. it would just be a strange situation.

like, this is obviously a dramatic overthink about a poll where most people are, let's be honest, not actually answering the posed question. the question that the vast vast majority of people are actually answering, based on what I've seen many many people say, is not "would you be more surprised if a fairy or a walrus came to your house", it's "would an imaginary sitcom character based on you be more surprised if a fairy or a walrus came to their imaginary sitcom house".

like, tons of people in the comments are talking about how the fairy is less surprising because of [insert Thing That Only Makes Sense As A Rationale Within A Narrative here], which means that they're not answering the question. which is also irritating, but in a kind of more minor way?

sorry, this is kinda rambly and got away from me a bit. basically the tldr here is that when you have hundreds of people saying "I would find it more normal for there to be magic than for there to be a strange animal" it makes me nervous because it reminds me, however unintentionally, of soft science denialism like astrology and crystal-healing people. basically this whole sitch is either like a very small microcosm of, like, science denialism or just uncomfortably close to that. for me.

oh, and for anyone who reads this and thinks that the huge wall of text means that I'm getting really pissed off: I'm naturally extremely talkative, this is me in my kinda default slightly-sleepy rambly mode, when I'm actively angry I tend to be pretty brief. that's why I wrote that tone indicator at the top after writing the rest of the post, I realised if I didn't clarify that I was chilling and shrugging people would think I was yelling and thrashing

The boys observed you pacing aboard the Marauder, your frustration evident as you vented about the day's mishaps, which seemed to be pretty valid.

Not only had the meticulously planned mission gone awry from the very start, but returning to the Marauder revealed that it had been… infiltrated.

Evidently and most unfortunately, someone had left the gangplank down, allowing either the planet's inhabitants or its creatures to wreak literal havoc on board.

Echo murmured to Wrecker as they watched you kick at the debris from broken crates, followed by a drawn-out sigh of annoyance, "When do you think she'll calm down?"

Wrecker, watching you with a mix of fascination and concern, replied, "I ain't sure."

Typically, you were the epitome of calm and collected, but today, there was an unfamiliar side to you, one that had Wrecker oddly intrigued. He couldn't help but feel sympathetic about your frustration, but he also found your slightly vexed demeanor rather attractive.

So taking matters into his own hands, he approached you and gently rested his large hand on your shoulder, trying to halt your pacing. "Wanna sit down for a bit?"

"No, Wrecker," you sighed, "I want to clean it all up. I want this place to look spotless, just like I left it. In fact, I want all of you to clean up after yourselves, stick to the plan, and not go rogue! I want a hot shower! I want Mantell mix!" Your list of desires seemed to go on endlessly, reaching a point where it became almost comical. The more you listed, the more absurd your requests became, until you found yourself laughing at the chaos.

With your hands linked behind your neck, you took a deep breath and turned back to Wrecker with a sheepish expression. "Am I being overdramatic?"

A warm smile graced Wrecker's face as he gazed down at you, your outburst none short of endearing. His heart races in the intensity of the moment as your eyes locked onto each other. "You know, you're really hot when you're angry," he admitted, surprising both of you and causing a flutter in your stomach.

The unexpected compliment left you momentarily speechless, but it quickly chased away the frustration and distress of the day's events. You couldn't help but break into a grin, realising that Wrecker, the person you had secretly harbored feelings for a long time, had just called you hot.

"Really?" you replied, your eyes brightening with delight at his words.

Wrecker coughed awkwardly, his cheeks flushing with a mixture of fluster and embarrassment. However, your positive reaction put him at ease, and he let out a chuckle, folding his arms across his broad chest. He was relieved that his brothers hadn't overheard his admission to you. "Sure," he continued, "but no, I don't think you're being dramatic."

"That's good to know," you replied with a sense of relief, letting your arms relax by your sides as you surveyed the mess once more. "I'll clean this up tomorrow. I can't be bothered right now."

Wrecker stepped forward, his willingness to help clear on his face. "We will help ya. We shouldn’t shy away from our cleaning duties." He was eager to do whatever it took to make you happy. But then again, he couldn't help the thoughts of making a mess to see you riled up again.

Grateful for his offer, the two of you decided to take a small walk together, and as the evening unfolded, perhaps, just maybe, a gentle kiss was shared. Maybe having the ship infiltrated wasn't such a bad thing after all sometimes.

Using Schrödinger’s Mary Sue In Creative Writing

Every once in a while, out of nowhere, the idea of something like a cool fight scene, a witty exchange between the villain and hero or a very dramatic finale just ✨pop✨ into a writer’s head; usually accompanied with a sudden burst of inspiration. When those scenes involve established characters and stories, more often than not the writer regains consciousness several hours later having fully thought through the most epic thing they’ve ever written, contemplating weather or not they should rewrite the entire story to be able to properly include that scene.

But sometimes those scenes are just about A hero, A villain, A couple, not about someone specific. When that happens we often get stumped in the creative process because we have to sit down and actively create characters or fledge out vague character ideas we’ve had on the back burner to have material to continue the train of thought. And that usually kills that burst of inspiration.

That’s where what I call “Schrödinger’s Mary/Gary Sue” comes into play.

A SM/GS is a character concept for a specific archetype of character who possesses only the characteristics that you tend to give these archetypes, as well as all of the abilities for them that you came up with but weren’t able to include but wanted to.

To give an example, this is how my own SM/GS for the MC/Part Time Hero looks like:

- personality and appearance -

Vaguely Male

Light Hair

Kind (optional, might have been beaten out of them)

Intelligent

- abilities/roles -

Teleportation

Ghost sight

Half human / half spirit

Fox spirit

Dragon shifter

Follower of / reaper for the god of death

Genius magician and high priest

A planet throwing heavenly knight who helps the gods of creation fight evil gods from other dimensions

A literal god

Etc. etc. bc yes there is much more

That list on its own looks pretty Mary Suey. What makes that character a Schrödinger’s Mary Sue however is how to use them: Once that character has been placed into a scene their abilities are limited to just one, or if compatible and not over the top a few of those abilities.

This setup gives us the opportunity to experiment with not only that scene that originally came to mind but also old ideas that we didn’t want to abandon but couldn’t make work at that time. Basically what we’re doing is instead of playing with air, we play with an unpainted, unclothed, wig-less doll. It’s not concrete enough to just be copies of pre-existing characters but gives us enough substance to develop the scene; and if all goes well that doll won’t stay in that state for too long and become its own fully fledged out character.

(I used to really struggle with losing that burst of inspiration but since I’ve started using the SM/GS approach my brain has probably become the fastest and most effective recycling machine on the planet.)

Also, I you end up trying this for yourself, keep in mind to keep the SM/GS’s personality and characteristics as vague and basic as possible before going into the scene, else you risk writing the same character over and over again. Once you start working you can add proper personality traits and make a real character from that base concept. And of course, don’t be afraid to change those basic characteristics if you feel like it or the story develops into a direction that calls for it.

Oh no, I’m participating in Star Wars discourse.

Uh, so there’s a post floating around that I’m not reblogging mainly because it’s just this person’s headcanon and, whatever, people can have headcanons, but the main points they make in the midst of talking about their headcanon that I’ll be addressing are:

Leia and Han getting married and having kids is the most boring thing you can do with Leia

Leia should be a Jedi like every other dang Skywalker because somehow continuing an assumed dynasty isn’t the most boring choice you can make for her

Leia is more cut out to handle lack of attachment than Luke which we know because of her lack of response to Alderaan being destroyed

Leia and Han shouldn’t get married or even be around each other much because Han is a wandering soul and needs to travel and go places

Leia never expresses a desire for marriage or children in the OT, so removing these things won’t contradict George Lucas’ canon

And, look, these are just…missing the point of the character growth that occurs in these two during the OT.

(there's just a whole-ass essay below the cut if anyone cares to read about the many thoughts I have on Leia Organa and Han Solo.)

So, I'm not saying existing or past canon/EU has done it right, but I disagree with the statement that having them marry and live kind of basic lives is the most boring choice. If that's all there was to it, sure, but those two choices by themselves show a monumental amount of character growth for both Leia and Han. (I mean, frankly, I think "Skywalker = Jedi every time no matter what" is a pretty boring choice storytelling wise, but I also think the Jedi on the whole are incredibly boring characters, so, uh...I'm biased.)

Leia was never going to live a quiet life even if Alderaan hadn't been destroyed. Like, she did not have that option, period. She would have either remained in politics or taken over as queen, may or may not have had to marry for political reasons, and may or may not have been involved with the Rebellion. Her life was chaos starting as a teen and she had no reason to believe she wouldn't die living a hectic and chaotic life.

And then she loses everything. This isn't emphasized in the movies obviously because they are fun family romps and not gritty dramas, but, good night, in a single second, she loses every family member, nearly every person she knows, every place she finds most familiar and comfortable, everything and to top it all off, the guilt that it's happened because of her unwillingness to give up the Alliance will probably always be there. She was tortured, they lost lives in battle, and, yeah, they destroy the Death Star, but at the end of that day, literally all she has left is the Alliance and those three pilots who managed to unlock her cell door without too much trouble.

I don't know about you, but I'd be straight-up shut down emotionally at that point. Like, I don't think PTSD even covers what Leia probably has going on in her head. And I think that's kind of what we see in ESB (I know the filmmakers weren’t thinking in terms of PTSD, but there are still hints of it there regardless). She's angry, she's afraid of losing people (she's obviously pissed Han is leaving after he said he'd stay, but also, there's a scene that was cut -- a good move in my opinion because the dialogue is beyond dramatic and Carrie seems out of it, but it stands that this was the intended source of Leia’s frustration -- where Luke is telling Leia he's leaving the Alliance for Dagobah and she is extremely upset that both he and Han are leaving, goes on a whole rant about how she should know better than to trust anyone but herself, etc.), and when she finally lets Han in, she promptly loses him and nearly loses Luke.

And then the events of ROTJ happen and she finds out that the man who tortured her, who stood idly by while her entire planet was destroyed, who tortured the man she loves and handed him off to the space mob to be murdered, who cut off her brother's hand and nearly allowed him to die, who has terrorized the Galaxy in general, that guy is her bio dad. And that guy is the entire reason she's Force-sensitive.

Leia stopping her Jedi training in the new canon was for a dumb reason, I agree there. Leia not wanting anything to do with the thing that, from her point of view, nearly ruined her life and the lives of those she loves about a thousand times over...I dunno, I think that's way more interesting than her just going, "Ope, I'm a Skywalker! You know what that means! Gotta be a Jedi!" And as far as her being more of a natural at it...do we know that Leia is better at healthy non-attachment than Luke? Like, any response to a planet being destroyed could easily just be a trauma response. Is shutting down like that good, actually? Or is it just going to cause problems down the road, Anakin-style?

I don't know, I just think that after living through all of that as well as a freaking war, girly might want a quiet life -- that she gets to choose -- with a husband -- who she gets to choose -- and kids -- who she gets to raise without the threat of the Empire or her nightmare of a biological father looming over their lives. And the very fact that she's able to open herself up to that sort of love and affection when the fear that it might all be ripped away from her is likely ever-present is a big deal. Her having kids knowing they'll likely be Force-sensitive even though that aspect of her biology terrifies her is a big deal. And as far as her not expressing a desire for marriage and kids in the OT...I mean, Leia isn't given the opportunity to express her desire for much in the OT, let's be real (she also never expresses a desire to become a Jedi in the OT either. We can't use what Leia didn't express in the OT to dictate whether she wants or doesn't want something is what I'm saying). They're at war. She's a military leader. She probably can't even hazard wishing for anything beyond waking up the next day. But that's not to say she didn't want such things or grow to want such things once she felt it was safe to do so. We literally don't know, but I don't think the absence of that expressed desire is indicative of anything.

As far as Han goes, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure in every iteration of his story, his itchy feet weren't like...a part of his personality. He had a highly traumatic childhood that left him with few options and ended up living a transient lifestyle out of necessity. He actually seems remarkably easy to keep around if you don't treat him like garbage. I mean, he's given exactly one day of friendship, and he sticks around with the Rebellion for three years before some run-in with a bounty hunter makes him realize he needs to take care of his debt with Jabba. He's not leaving just for funsies or because he's bored or just really needs to be a smuggler again...and he seems legitimately sad have to leave when he's not busy getting pissed at Leia for not having the emotional response he wants her to have (first half of ESB Han is being a big ol' baby and I'm perfectly fine admitting that). And what character growth to see Han "I'm in it for the money" Solo learn to care for his friends, learn to support a cause, learn to love Leia when he's spent so much of his life unattached. Han making boring life choices is indicative of character growth and learning to care about others more than himself. What a lovely thing for this man to learn.

The call for Leia and Han to remain living separate lives but still committed to one another kind of demands that they move backward in character growth in my opinion. We have two people who are in rough places due, by and large, to trauma, who eventually open up to one another and seem better for it and then they...just go back to what they were doing before except they occasionally see each other? Why would they want that? They've grown as people, they've won a dang war, and they're finally able to live somewhat securely. Why wouldn't they want to live basic lives when they were denied the privilege of such choices for so long? And how is them making choices based on their love for another person — love that they had a heck of a time coming to terms with — boring?
