Yang: Ugh, Port's class was so boring.
Blake: If he goes on another tangent, I'll pull my ears out.
Ruby: I kinda like his stories. I wonder If I'll be able to tell stories like that when I'm older.
Weiss: Of course a child like you would like his tangents. You're so easily entertained.
Ruby: Hey!
Pyrrha: Um, excuse me.
Yang: Hey P-Money! What's up?
Pyrrha: I need to talk to Weiss... In private.
Yang: *looking at Weiss* Really?
Ruby: But we were gonna have BFFAF time after this!
Weiss: No we weren't. Where would you like to talk Pyrrha?
Pyrrha: There's an empty room.
Weiss: Lead the way!
As Weiss and Pyrrha walk away, Weiss looks back to both, seeing Yang and Blake both holding a thumbs up. After a bit of walking, they enter the empty classroom, with Pyrrha shutting the door behind them.
Weiss: So, what did you want to talk to me about?
Pyrrha: ...I need you...
Weiss:
Weiss: *thinking* Oh my gods. It's happening. IT'S HAPPENING!!!
Weiss: Pyrrha Nikos, the most beautiful (besides me), perfect (besides me), and strongest person in the whole world finally noticed me!
Pyrrha: I need you to....
Weiss: It was only a matter of time before she lost interest in that oaf, Arc. I knew it was only a passing fancy. How could anyone as wonderful as her? She deserves someone better, smarter, stronger.
Pyrrha: To t-teach...
Weiss: We'll get married in Argus, and I'll have Winter be my maid of honor. I'll make sure Father and Whitley aren't invited, and especially that ignorant fool, Arc, and my dolt of a leader, Ruby. It'll be perfect, and-
Pyrrha:
I NEED YOU TO TEACH ME HOW TO SING!!!
Weiss: E-e-e-excuse me?!
Pyrrha: I need you to teach me how to sing! You're the only singer I personally know, so please teach me!
Weiss: *utterly flabberghasted* WHY?
Pyrrha: Well...
Two weeks earlier...
Team JNPR where relaxing in their dorm after class. Pyrrha was reading a book. Ren was taking a nap, with Nora lying on his chest. Jaune was playing his guitar. He stopped suddenly, and looked up at his team.
Jaune: You guys wanna start a band?
Nora: *immediatly bolting up from Ren's chest* Can I play drums?
Jaune: Sure.
Nora: YES.
Ren: *woken up from his nap* What's happening?
Nora: Jaune wants us to start a band.
Ren: Oh. I guess I'll play bass then.
Jaune: You play bass?
Ren: No. But I know Nora's going to play drums. And you're going to play guitar. I'm alright with playing bass. It's dark, like my soul.
Nora: But Renny, you have the brightest soul out of all of us!
Ren: *smiles*
Jaune: Are you sure you want to play bass?
Ren: It's fine. I'm a quick learner, and I'm good with my fingers. *goes back to napping*
Jaune: Hmm, alright. What a bout you Pyrrha? Do you want to join the band?
Pyrrha: Y-Yes! Of course.
Jaune: What do you want to play?
Pyrrha: Um, I really don't know. I don't play any instruments.
Jaune: Really? Have you ever tried to play something? Try to get into music as a passing fancy?
Pyrrha: No. I was always so busy with training and studying, I never even thought of making music. My grandma played harp and flute, but she died when I was really little. She was the only really musical person I knew.
Jaune: Hmmm... I guess you can sing.
Pyrrha: W-W-W-WHAT?
Jaune: Yeah. I mean, your voice is already so beautiful.
Pyrrha: You think my voice is beautiful?
Jaune: Pyrrha, your voice is what the sunrise sounds like.
Pyrrha: Oh gods, he's so sweet! He looks so excited about this, I have to do it. I HAVE TO PROTECT THAT SMILE!
Pyrrha: *grinning* Alright Jaune, I'll sing for our band.
Jaune: YES! You're the best Pyr. I know this is going to be great. Lets have our first band practice next week, after we get the instruments, of course.
Pyrrha: Okay.
Nora: SIR YES SIR!
Ren: ZZZZzzzz...
Back to the present...
Pyrrha; And then next week we rehearsed, and I was terrible! I tried to sing White Dog but I just couldn't!
Pyrrha: *on the verge of tears* Ren and Nora where looking at me weird, and Jaune had this really fake smile on his face! He said " I think you did a pretty good job Pyrrha." I know he was lying to make me feel better.
Pyrrha: *sobbing* I couldn't protect that smile. I don't deserve him. He deserves a partner who can sing Banned In D.V. by Rad Brains without ripping out their vocal cords. Please Weiss, I'm begging you. I need to redeem myself in his eyes. Please. I'll even pay for the lessons, please. I need this. I've seen him writing songs, and they're so beautiful, and he wants ME to sing them. You have to understand.
Weiss:
Weiss: *sighs the deepest sigh humanly possible*
Weiss: *realizing that she'll never get any pyrussy* I'll teach you how to sing.
Pyrrha: Thank you, thank you so much. I could never thank you enough, thank you.
Weiss: *completely dead on the inside* It's fine.
Pyrrha: *crying tears of joy* Really Weiss. You don't know how important this is for me. You have my deepest thanks.
Weiss: *smiling through the pain* That's what friends are for!

Chapter 2 - Show Time
2.8k words
Synopsys: The name of the series is super random, don't mind me. Reader is a postgraduate student at NYU, made a docuseries on her research, and the show got picked up by Netflix. She goes on a press tour and meets Tom on a ‘chat show’. They get together and she decides to stay for a few days in London with him. This could be an amazing few days or more? It’s been interesting writing how they’ll deal with distance and tight schedules once ‘honeymoon’ is over...
Heads up: my first language is Portuguese, so that might explain some things here - of course, I wrote thinking about myself hahaha
Warnings for the series: mention of illicit drugs, angst caused by distance, smut (next chapters, very explicit), anxiety caused by paparazzi, and rude random people taking photos.
Other than that, this is just my guilty pleasure writing so lots of caring sweet Tom and fluffiness.
Chapter 1 - A new city
Chapter 2 - Show time
Chapter 3 - Unexpected texts
Chapter 4 - A new day
No extra warnings. A lot of it was adapted from the real interview, so you might wanna watch it again before reading this, for refreshing. The docu-series doesn't have a name, so you can imagine your own favorite subject.
Tumblr media
HEY THERE EVERYBODY! MY NAME IS TOM HANKS AND IT IS MY GREAT PLEASURE TO SAY WELCOME TO THE GRAHAM NORTON SHOW!
You walked down the corridor led by the stage assistant, but you could already hear the cheering and claps close by. “Don’t worry. There’s a monologue and then he’ll introduce you guys.” She smiled at you. You smiled back. Nervous smile.
“I think I need to poo.” You said.
“What?” She stopped and looked at you.
“No. I don’t really need to poo. I’m just really nervous.” You said. She definitely thought you were in way over your head.
“Okay, just wait there and you’ll go on stage when he calls your name. Frank is there to signal, don’t worry. Good luck!” She said and turned back running.
“Ok. Thank you!” You shouted after her but she was already gone.
“Shhh!” The other guy with a headpiece, Frank you assumed, shushed you.
“Sorry.” You whispered. You looked to the side and Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Holland were talking. Jake was taller than you imagined. Tom was shorter.
Oh don’t worry. You’re the star here, you can do whatever you want to.” An older voice said to you. He was obviously joking. You looked to see Tom Hanks. You smiled and nodded. God, please don’t let me freeze from starstruck now. Please.
“Ehh…” You’re pathetic.
“Hi!” Said Gwyneth Paltrow to everyone in the dark zone, having just arrived after you. Everyone responded excitedly.
“You guys are on. On my mark.” Said Frank pointing to Tom and Jake. They looked at you and said hello but you could barely answer before hearing Graham Norton’s voice going:
HES THE OSCAR NOMINATED STAR OF BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, NIGHTCRAWLER, AND DONNIE DARKO. PLEASE WELCOME JAKE GYLLENHAAL!
And Jake went up the small flight of stairs. The curtains opened for a while and the sound got really loud and everything went bright. You took a look at Tom Holland and boy was he hot. He was looking at you too. You smiled and he smiled back.
HE’S YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN. IT'S MISTER TOM HOLLAND!
“See you out there.” He said and walked out. You barely had time to process anything when Frank pointed at you and said: “You’re next”. You were still trying to remember how to walk when you heard:
SHE’S THE PRODUCER AND STAR OF A BRAND NEW NETFLIX DOCU-SERIES. STRAIGHT FROM NEW YORK: MISS (Y/N)!
Up you go. You walked out and Graham Norton went to greet you. He went for a kiss on the cheek and you went for a hug. Great. Off to a good start. He laughed it off and showed you the couch where Tom and Jake were standing in front and clapping. You went for a kiss on the cheek this time with both of them when you greeted them.
“Hi!” You said casually. Graham was speaking and soon Gwyneth was standing by your side. She greeted you and the actors by your side and then there was only Tom Hanks left. His introduction was longer and the cheering was way louder. But you weren’t surprised by that. This place was massive. There are so many people here. Way more than you’d think by watching from home.
“We met backstage.” Tom Hanks said pointing to the other guests on the couch.
“You all chatted backstage. I went backstage, I didn’t see the two of you. Nor you (y/n). Where were you guys?” Graham asked.
“We were there” Jake said.
“We waived” Tom said.
“Yeah, I- I was late.” You said laughing a little.
“Very suspicious. I bet you were having your own private party with your entourage.” Graham said making everyone laugh.
“Welcome all! Welcome all!” Graham went on to start the round of interviews and apparently, Tom Hanks was the first topic. You just smiled and laughed along, copying the way Gwyneth Paltrow was sitting and concentrating to keep your posture straight. Once in a while you would laugh and moment by moment you were getting more relaxed, even touching thighs with Tom accidentally when you laughed.
“I started recording Woody in 1991.” Tom Hanks said.
“Guess who wasn’t born then?” Graham said and both you and Tom raised our arms laughing.
“I was having sex I think, by 1991.” Gwyneth said.
“And so were our parents.” Said Tom gesturing between you and him. Everybody laughed.
“He probably meant his mom and his dad and my mom and my dad. Separately.” And everyone laughed even harder.
“Ok. We painted a picture now.” Graham said.
“You never know, it was a crazy time back then in 91” Jake added making everyone bust out laughing.
“Now, our newest guest tonight is the beautiful (y/n). This is your first time in the show!” Graham said looking at you. Oh boy. This is it.
“Yeah! This is crazy. Thank you for having me! And my first time in London!” You answered, blushing a little by the claps and cheering from the audience.
“Now, of course, (y/n) you’re the star and the producer of a documentary. The new Netflix series everybody is talking about. Have you guys seen it?” He asked the other guests.
“Absolutely! It's so good! I loved it!” Tom Hanks said. You stared at him like he just said the most absurd thing, and then Gwyneth said:
“We loved it! It's so different from everything we’ve seen out there.” She complimented you. You put your hands together and bowed your head in gratitude.
“I started watching it today when I knew you were coming here, but everybody is talking about it! It's so good! I wanted to binge-watch everything but then we had to come here.” Jake said.
“Own! Thank you, that’s very sweet.” You said.
“What about you Tom Holland? Have you seen it? Or have you guys met before? Because you have the same age, isn’t that right?” Graham asked him, pointing between the two of you.
“I was the one who told Jake to watch it! I must have seen it twice already!” He said laughing.
“What? Twice?” You laughed.
“Yeah because every time someone’s watching it if I’m passing by, I’ll just sit down and watch along. And all my friends decided to watch it now, it’s like some fever, I don’t know, it’s just really fun and you actually feel smarter binging it!” He said making everybody laugh along.
“But did you guys knew each other already? Because you sure sound like a fan!” Graham teased him. Tom shook his head no and you answered first.
“No…well, I know you. I definitely know all of you. But we’ve never met.” You said vaguely, trying to change the focus from you and Tom. But Graham was on a mission.
“Are you sure? Because the two of you weren’t seen early on backstage so I’m just wondering…” He said cheekily.
“I was late today! It was quite not British of me, I know, but we were very late so I didn’t get the chance to say hello before. Sorry, everyone” You said apologizing to everybody on the couch who waived and laughed politely.
“That’s quite alright. Thankfully you’re not British so we won’t punish you. Well, maybe we’ll leave that to Tom later if you’re into that sort of thing” Graham said making you and Tom very much embarrassed.
“These 90’s kids are crazy man” Jake added making everybody laugh.
“Anyway, we have a clip for you guys.” Graham announced.
[CLIP FROM THE SERIES]
“That’s so great! By the way, I introduced you saying ‘from new york’, because the show was taped there, but you’re not really from NY are you? You’re actually…uh… from (your city/country)! Is that right?” Graham asked you and the rest of the cast looked at you interested.
“Yes! That’s right. But I’ve been living in New York for a good while now so, that’s ok.” You answered.
“You’re getting your PhD, isn’t it?” Tom Hanks asked you.
“Yes, the show was part of my research, actually. I’m surprised you know that.” You said.
“Dude, I told you to pick up a book once in a while. Jake said teasingly to Tom, who just laughed and shook his head looking down.
“You guys are making this so much easier to me. Thanks!” He said sarcastically. Now it was your turn to get embarrassed.
“He’s right though, you might wanna step up your game here cause she’s both smart and beautiful. Do you speak…how many is it? 5 languages?” Graham stepped in.
“Well, I mean…sort of, yeah. I guess.” You answered kind of embarrassed for being in the spotlight, but glad it was about your brains and not looks.
“And the show is so good! I’ve seen a critic saying that is (your reference) meet Humans of NY. In a good way! Where the idea came from? Did you always wanted to film a tv show?” Graham asked you.
“Well, first of all. Thank you for the compliments and I’m truly honored by the comparison to (your reference) and Humans of NY, because I truly watch and admire those projects, so they’ve definitely inspired us. But uh…about filming a TV show, I guess not. I’m researching (your subject of preference). But I’ve always loved to, you know, get in there and get ‘my hands dirty’, I wouldn’t want to write about something I haven’t experienced. So I got to know so many incredible stories and amazing people. I followed their routines and there were so many great plots…I just couldn’t let that go. And I’m really glad I didn’t. It’s like we’re highlighting the extraordinary in the ordinary. I’m really glad people liked it as much as I did because it would have been really heartbreaking if nobody cared, I guess.” You laughed. Everyone was staring at you in awe. You got really excited when you were talking about this project. Maybe a little too excited.
“How did you do that by the way?” Gwyneth asked you.
“Did what?” you said.
“Get them to care about it. To give it a shot.” She explained.
“I’m not sure. I think there’s so much noise out there. And everyone is just competing for our attention, but they don’t always have anything to say. And these people have so much to say. To teach us. I just tried to show that.” You answered honestly.
“Well, thank you for that. And not jinx anything, but I have a feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more about you too. Any new projects coming soon?” He asked you.
“Uh…not really. I’m just living in this high for now, I guess. But it really has already opened so many doors, I’m very grateful for that.” You answered honestly.
“And your boyfriend must be really proud too" Graham asked teasingly.
“No, no boyfriend.” You answered suspiciously.
“Ah! Of course.” He winked nothing discreetly in Tom’s direction.
“So there’s a chance Tom! You might want to pay attention to this next one. Gwyneth Paltrow! What is this I hear about vagina steaming?” Graham continued making everyone bust out laughing.
The show went on and soon, the topic was Tom again. “I was making a film with Doug Liman, in Montreal. And I was playing a real tough kid and he asked me to grow as much facial hair as I could.” Tom told everybody. You just looked very closely at him, because his face was very much hairless.
“I think we got a picture.” Graham said. And then everybody was laughing out loud.
“(y/n)? Is your heart won yet?” Graham teased. You just laughed.
“Oh come on! The kid’s got better moments! You got to give him a chance!” He teased some more.
“Oh man! What is going on with this show? I swear I did not put him up to this!” Tom said looking at you and you just laughed awkwardly.
“It’s true! I did!” Jake said laughing and then got up to high five Graham.
“You know, if this wasn’t going so badly I’d ask if my mom put you up to this. Cause she’s the only other person I know who’s so focused on getting me matched.” You teased.
“You think its going badly?” Tom asked and the crowd “aww” loudly. Silence and some laughs.
“Right, moving on.” Graham joked and everybody laughed. You were feeling a little awkward, especially because you did not want him to think you weren’t interested, just not while in a tv show. But you can’t get things mixed up. This stuff is new to you, but you’re not some schoolgirl. Focus on the job. Stormzy was singing now, so the show must be almost over.
“Oh this is wicked! I was really happy when I saw you’d be here!” Stormzy said when he sat on the couch.
“Me? Wow! Really?” you asked him, surprised.
“Oh-oh looks like you got competition Tom Holland” Graham joked and Tom just laughed and shook his head.
“Well cause your show is just really cool” He said to me.
“Wow! Thank you for saying that!” You couldn’t believe this, someone from all across the world liked something you did. You’re going to get emotional.
“You know that we live really close to each other?” Tom asked him.
“Is it? Where do you live?” Stormzy answered and the conversation went on.
AND THAT’S IT FOR THE SERIES! IF YOU’D JOIN ME NEXT WEEK FOR A LOOK BACK AT SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PAST 12 WEEKS. WE’LL BE BACK IN THE AUTUMN, TILL THEN HAVE A GREAT SUMMER! GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY BYE BYE!
This was becoming routine now, but there’s no other way to describe it other than to say that you loved and hated every minute of it. Well, at least it’s done now. The lights went out and when everybody stopped clapping and cheering the producer approached you guys and said you were taking a picture. Graham went for the back of the couch and everyone snuggled a little closer. Tom put his hand on your thigh and you instinctively looked at it. “Sorry.” He mumbled and took it off. You just smiled and shook your head lightly. After some pictures, you made sure to thank everybody and say how much of a fan of them you are. When it was your turn to talk to Tom he said laughing: “Sorry about that whole thing” You could tell he was uncomfortable.
“No, common! He was playing with us. Well, you more.” You dismissed.
“Yeah! It was fun though. Had a great time, it was great to meet you!” He said politely.
“You too. Love your movies! Can’t wait to see the new one.” You offered and heard someone calling your name.
“Right this way Miss.” The stage assistant called.
“Ok, so…bye! Good luck on growing your facial hair!” What. You. Idiot. He just laughed it off. And touched his chin.
“Right. I’ll try my best. Thank you! Good luck with (your research subject)” He said back.
“Alright, thanks” You had to go, the stage assistant was getting impatient. “Bye Tom.” You offered your hand and he hesitated a bit before taking it and shake.
“Bye (y/n).” He said.
David was already waiting for you down the small flight of stairs. “That was really great! Congratulations!” He hugged you.
“That…wasn’t bad, right?” You said. “I actually had fun.” You completed while you two made your way to the little room where you did your makeup and hair earlier.

Every summer your parents let you work at their summer resort that’s open all year long. Every summer you look forward to making some extra cash that you love to save up for when you’re old enough to buy things that you would actually use and enjoy. Every summer is different from the last because of the people that check into the resort. There are always new people, new drama to gossip about, new events going on.
The only constant was him.
The first time you met him was special because you knew from the first interaction that he would become a very important person in your life someday.
“What’s your name?” you asked the shy boy who hasn’t said a word since he and his family entered the resort. Since you were still too young to handle the tasks that require the most amount of responsibility, the only thing you could do right now is make sure that the guests feel welcome while your parents check them in. The young boy who couldn’t have been much older than you stayed quiet next to his parents, and he was shocked when you started talking to him.
“Me?” he stuttered.
“You’re the only one around here. Yes you.”
“S-Spencer.”
“Hi Spencer. I’m Y/N. My parents own this resort,” you grinned as you took his bag so you could put on the bell hopper. “Is this your first time here?”
“Yeah it is.”
“You’ll love it here. It’s always sunny and the pools are always a good way to cool off!” you grinned before you noticed a book in his hand. “What are you reading?”
“A book about psychology.”
“What is that?”
“It’s the study of the human brain to put it vaguely.”
“That sounds like a lot of work. You’re weird, Spencer, but I like it. We’re going to be best friends,” you grinned as you pulled him into a hug.
From that moment on, you and Spencer did everything while he was still at the resort. The vacation was mostly for his parents since they knew their son would be out of the way most of the time. It helped tremendously that you took up most of his time. He expected to stay in the room and read, but he never expected you. When you could, you would take him around the property in the golf cart to see how much trouble you two could get into before getting caught.
It broke your heart when he left the resort because it was like losing a friend. You two had become really close over that short amount of time, and you didn't know when you would get to see each other again. The only thing he gave you was his house number, and that was the only thing you could use as a form of communication.
That is, until he came back the next summer. And the summer after that, and the one after that, and every summer since. It was only until the summer of 9th grade when something happened between the two of you that was considered a big thing at your age, especially to Spencer.
“Spencer!” you grinned once you saw the familiar mop of curly hair walk through the door. Each year on the same time of the month Spencer would come in with his family to book a room for the next two weeks so they could relax. As his parents walked to the front desk, you approached the young man with a book clutched in your hands. Last summer he was expressing interest in criminal justice and was thinking about a job in law enforcement which got you thinking about the kinds of books he might enjoy.
As the two of you talked throughout the year, you two have become very close to one another, and you got to learn a lot about him and the things that he likes. He’s a lot smarter since the last time you saw him, and you were beginning to think that he wouldn’t like you anymore because you weren't as smart as him, but that was never the case.
“Y/N!” he smiled widely. “What do you have in your hands?”
“A book I think you might like,” you grinned before handing it over. It was a book on criminal justice but focusing more about behavioral analysis and how criminals thinks and why they do what they do instead of focusing on the act itself. Spencer didn't tell you this, but he's read the book at least three times since it was one he likes. But just knowing that you got this book for him, and the excitement on your face was enough for him to keep his mouth shut. It was shocking to him that you went out of your way to grab a book that you thought he would like even though you never read it. He liked you a lot, but he knew you were way out of his league. He was just the kid prodigy who was a know-it-all, so why would you find that attractive?
“You got this for me?”
“Yeah, I did. Do you like it?”
“I love it,” he smiled widely. “Thank you.”
“Anything for you, Spencer,” you grinned before leaning in and kissing him on the cheek. His cheeks flushed red at the contact, but you didn't have time to dwell on your action. Your parents called you over to them once they were finished helping Spencer’s parents. As his parents were getting on the elevator, you and Spencer made eye contact just as the doors closed.
After that, you and Spencer grew closer. No kissing on the lips ever happened, but there was plenty on the cheeks and a lot of holding hands. It was like you two were afraid of taking that big step because you knew it was real, that it was truly happening. The phone calls turned to texting which them turned to video chatting so you could see each other’s faces. It was like you couldn’t get enough of him and he to you.
The last summer you would ever have at the resort was a special one not only because it was your last one, but because it was the one that started the rest of your life with the love of your life.
“No running by the pool!” you yelled at some kids who thought it was a good idea to run where the water pooled. Sighing, you picked up your criminal justice book before resuming your studying. It was your dream to be in law enforcement since Spencer had gotten you into it. He didn't know that you applied to Caltech, and you would only tell him if you got accepted. This summer was the last one you would have before entering college, and you wanted to get a head start on the reading you knew would be required no matter what school you went to.
“I’m running. Are you going to get me in trouble?” Spencer asked as he approached your lifeguard tower. Looking down at the man you fell in love with, you grinned as you jumped down to hug him tightly.
“Spencer! I missed you!”
“I missed you too,” he said as he held you close. Pulling away from him, you didn’t register the book in your hand until he said something about it. “You’re studying Criminal Justice?”
“I am, yeah.”
“So am I.”
“Where are you planning on going?”
“Caltech. I got accepted last week.”
“I applied there too! Well, I was going to wait until I got accepted--if I got accepted. I don’t know yet,” you chuckled.
“You will get accepted. You’re the smartest person I know.”
“That’s a lie, Spencer. You’re the smartest person you know,” you laughed.
“Yeah, I guess. But you’re still very smart.”
“So, we’re going to the same college in the fall with the same major?”
“It looks like it,” he said as he grabbed your hands. It was time to stop beating around the bush. It was time to own up to your feelings because this was getting kind of old. The two of you stared into each other’s eyes, and you could tell that you would have to make the first move because Spencer wouldn’t even if he wanted to. With a slight shake of your head, you pulled him down to you before molding your lips with his. They were just as soft as you imagined, but better.
Spencer wrapped his arms around your waist while still holding onto your hands as he kissed you back. This kiss was long overdue, and it felt so good to finally have it happen.
You never thought you and Spencer would ended up at the same office in Virginia working for the BAU in the FBI. When you first met him, you knew he would be someone important in your life, but you didn’t realize just how important he’d truly become.

A-Z of Favorite Fictional Ladies    A is for: Amy March
Tumblr media
(Photos of the best Amys grayscaled to match the image from the not-perfect-but-still good 1933 film adaptation where Amy still looks older than Beth, but you try to pretend you don’t notice.)
Gasp. Heavens. Amy March?
Yeah, yeah, I know. The horror, the horror, because everyone hates Amy.
Except here’s the thing: I’m not everyone.
Amy is actually my second-favorite character in Little Women, and as my family, closest friends, or anyone who’s ever been unlucky enough to be in an English class with me when Little Women was on the reading list will inform you, I am at all times prepared to defend her. Because so many readers like to imagine themselves as Jo (they’re usually not, but no no, that’s another post) Amy’s probably the most misunderstood character in Little Women, and while I’ve seen all the film adaptations and love several of them, none of them do the woman justice. The 1994 version comes closest, but even that one just scratches the surface.
Why she’s my girl:
Yes, Amy is peacock-y as all heck in the first half of the book, yes, my six-year-old, first-time-reading-LW self H A T E D that bratty little B-word for burning up Jo’s book because she was mad her older sisters wouldn’t let her invite herself on their planned evening out, and yes, 99.9% of us are all still mad she got Laurie and we didn’t.
But the thing is: Amy’s twelve in the first half of LW. A child, and the baby of the family to boot. So…shocker…she acts spoiled sometimes. In the second half of the story, though, Amy is all grown up, and she’s a cool, calculating (but always charming!) customer. Where Jo is hot-tempered and impulsive (Gryffindor, if you will), Amy is icy-tempered and far-seeing (a bit Slytherin, perhaps?), and she navigates the limitations of her society with most ‘unladylike’ shrewdness.
For instance, while her family touts noble ideals and insists social status shouldn’t hinge on material things like wealth, Amy laughs and agrees with them, but unfailingly points out that whether or not those things should matter, the fact cannot be denied that they do. Regardless of what one thinks of another person’s conduct, it’s unwise to trumpet that dislike while in society—doing so could burn a bridge, and since Amy aspires to move beyond her poor upbringing, she refuses to burn any bridges by shunning any member of the wealthier class whom she disapproves of or finds boring or silly.
So, while Meg and Beth are content to stay where they are and Jo fights and claws and trips up herself while trying to figure out her purpose in life, Amy sets her sights early on success at all costs and then mobilizes all her wits, charm, and talent to chase her ambitions. She fully understands the power her beauty and astuteness allows her to wield over men, and uses it to her advantage; she is prepared to marry a man she likes but doesn’t love simply because it will afford her the position in life she desires and her family won’t pursue but could certainly use (”One of us must marry well. Meg didn’t, Jo won’t, Beth can’t yet, so I shall”), and when Laurie turns up moping and lazing around Europe after Jo turns him down, Amy doesn’t mince words (“I despise you”), Consequently, she wakes the dude up, makes him toe the line, and also makes it clear she's interested in him only if he’s interested in her...she refuses to be the stand-in for her sister.
So, yes: Amy’s annoying as a child and it’s super-frustrating she gets all the things most of us as readers think Jo ought to get. But she also grows up to be a cool-as-a-cucumber badass who makes what she wants to happen happen, and that makes me absolutely adore her.
Also, come on. If Daisy Freaking Buchanan gets applause for simply uttering the “beautiful little fool” line in The Great Gatsby, the least one can give Ms. Amy Curtis March is a teeny bit of the respect she deserves for painting boots and lugging saddles to horses, and not killing Jo on the spot for revealing all the March girls’ economizing tips to a bunch of patronizing rich people. Girlfriend works smarter, not harder but she still works pretty darn hard, and if you look closely, her success is earned. Not to ruin classic lit references with classic 2000s pop references, but to quote a certain other famous blonde: You wanna live fancy? Live in a big mansion? Party in France?
You betta work, b**ch.
(Oh, hey...look how much things have changed since the 1860s. Guess Amy was right about the way the world works after all!)
Favorite quotes:
Too many to count, but some of my most-loved are:
“If I can’t have it as I like, I don’t care to have it at all.”
“I am satisfied. I've done what I undertook, and it's not my fault that it failed. I comfort myself with that.”
“You can go through the world with your elbows out and your nose in the air, and call it independence, if you like. That's not my way.”
“I may be mercenary, but I hate poverty, and don’t mean to bear it a minute longer than I can help.”
“I’d rather take compliments than coffee just now.”

Smoke | VI: What Once Was
SUMMARY: After vanishing for four years, you return to the place you once called home, to the people you once called family. We all carry our baggage in different ways, using different techniques to hide it. You just happen to hide it in cigarette smoke.
CHAPTER SUMMARY: As it turns out, you aren't the only piece of yours and Damian's past that went up in smoke. Damian extends an invitation you meet with hesitation.
SERIES WARNINGS: cigarette smoking; underage drinking; gang activity; violence; swearing; blood; self-hate
MASTER LISTS in BIO
When you first arrived in Gotham, it was one of the first places you had seen.
Only three years old, you marveled at the grand building as your father drove by it, your wide [E/C] eyes skimming over every single blurred detail of the aging white and gray metal and brick.
You twisted in your car seat when your father's car passed the last pillar, so you could see it once more. When you turned back around to tell your mother how beautiful it was -- despite the fact that she, too, had seen it -- you stopped short.
"Mom! Mom!"
Your mother turned around to peek at you over the shoulder of her seat. "What, sweetheart?"
You pointed chubby fingers excitedly to the building you were about to pass. You couldn't read the sign, nor any of the words painted on the windows, but you could see the books and antique toys on display behind aged glass. "Look!"
Your mother turned back around to see it from her window. "Granny Crockett's Old Reads," she read allowed. "Do you wanna go in sometime?" She turned back to you with a smile.
You beamed, nodding excitedly. At such a young age, you didn't have too much of an inclination to books, but you knew that there must be more toys inside.
It had also been on your route to school everyday. You always drive passed it, waiting to see what new wonders were in the windows.
It had been there for shelter, too.
You shrieked as the water rushed down on you and Damian and Nick, desperately trying to shield yourself from the icy droplets with your backpack.
Nick shouldered the door open a few steps ahead of you, allowing the two of you in first. You ducked under his arm and into the little bookshop, Damian on your heels.
You laughed as your brother closed the door, futility trying to brush any remaining water off of his school uniform. He may have only been two years older than you, at 12, but that didn't make him any smarter. Damian had a deep scowl set across his face, staring down distastefully at his wet clothing.
You distantly wondered if he regretted agreeing to come home with you.
You even distinctly remembered walking past the old, dusty windows on your first date, when Jerry Thompson nervously walked you to the closest theater in 7th grade, your mother happily trotting along behind you.
The point is, Granny Crockett's Old Reads had been a familiar landmark on your mental map of Gotham for as long as you could remember.
If you thought hard enough, you could still smell the distinct scent of old paper and cedarwood candles, along with the rough jingling of an old bell. You still had your dogeared copy of Bram Stoker's Dracula, and a tattered copy of Pride and Prejudice.
Maybe this was the reason you hadn't felt right when you returned. You hadn't driven this street, because you knew it would be smarter to take the long way around for a quiet entry, even if it had been midnight.
Today, with an empty schedule and a longing for some not-so-fresh Gotham City air, you decided to venture out to the humble used book store.
You regretted it presently.
You gently kicked at a patch of Ash and brick just outside the bright yellow caution tape. Your hands were deep in your pockets, one set of fingers picking and pulling an old straw wrapper apart.
It was cold out, and you knew it probably wasn't wise to stay out too long, but despite the biting cold air seeping into your clothing from around the neck and bottom of your leather jacket, you couldn't bring yourself to leave the sight.
It was obvious that the building had burned down from the back, leaving Granny Crockett's and four other stores in ruins. However, the glass windows still stood, dark with grime and smog, but there were still there. The letters were scratched and faded, but you could easily still read the words; Antiques, Used Books, Old Toys, Much More.
Yet another reminder that things had changed.
You were beginning to doubt your place here, now more than ever. Since Nick had returned, the rest of the Pack hadn't exactly been as supportive of your return as they had been when they were left without a choice.
You were glad you had chosen to get your own space. You didn't think you could take another person stopping themselves mid-sentence, tacking on a quiet "oh, you weren't there."
Maybe it would be best if you just left. Maybe you were only overcomplicating things.
If you did it right this time, maybe you could come back every once in a while. Maybe you wouldn't have to switch out burner phones ever other month. Maybe you wouldn't have to deal with the guilt as much.
You debated it, eyes searching the charred rubble of what once was for answers. Answers to what questions, you didn't know. Part of you hoped and expected something out of a movie: Granny Crockett showing up to drag you out of your own mind, offering life changing advice before vanishing once again to fight the forces of evil, or whatever it is Granny's do on a nothing Tuesday morning.
But, no one came. In the end, it was you who forced yourself away from the damaging sight, with a rock-hard realization that added a new weight to your shoulders.
You lit a cigarette, clamping it between your teeth to keep your hands from shaking from something other than the cold.
Nothing was ever going to be the way you left it. You had to decide if you were going to suck it up and move on, or shake it off and leave.
~
Damian knew something was up. You could tell by his posture, the look on his face, and the constant prompting in his tone.
You shifted in your metal chair, meeting his intense stare. "Are you going to keep staring at me or are you going to ask me something?"
His eyes fell to his plate. "I would ask, but you don't seem in the mood to talk about it, whatever it is."
You pushed the ice cream around in your paper bowl. "I might be."
He paused, fingers wrapped around his paper coffee cup. "Alright then," he withdrew his hand, "what is it?"
You released a deep breath through your nose. "I went to Granny Crockett's yesterday."
He cocked an eyebrow. "That building burned down."
You bobbed your head. "Yeah, well, I meant I visited the rubble," you corrected. "When did it happen, anyway?"
For whatever reason, you noted that he didn't have to think before he answered. "Two years ago. It was a candle in the next store. An employee knocked it over on some fabric."
Again, you nodded. "Do you know what happened to Doreen?"
"Mrs. Crockett moved in with her son a week after the fire," he answered. He looked at her, deeply this time. "She asked about you."
"What do you mean? After I left?"
Now he was nodding. "Often, actually. She asked where you'd gone, when you'd be back." He stopped there, but seemed to remember something. "She gave me a few books," he stopped to get a sip of coffee, "she asked me to give them to you when you came back."
You felt guilty for asking, but your curiosity got the better of you. You pointedly stared down at your ice cream. "Do you still have them?"
"I do," he replied. "I'd be happy to bring them to your apartment tonight."
"That'd be great," you smiled. "Thank you."
He nodded.
You expected the conversation to end there. You expected a short silence, or for him to change the subject, but he didn't miss a beat.
"What else is bothering you?" He set his fork aside, lacing his fingers together, bracing his elbows on the table.
Your eyes bore into the bottom of your cup. You hesitated, but your promise echoed in you head. No secrets.
"I've been thinking about leaving again," you finally stated. You could have sworn you caught something flickering in his eyes. You continued, "I wouldn't just be gone this time, though. I'd be sure to stop by and say goodbye before I left, and I'd come back every once in awhile, of course. It wouldn't be like last time."
He was quiet for a long few moments, staring contemplatively at the remains his salad. Finally, he met your eyes again and spoke, "May I ask why?"
Now you were quiet. You turned your gaze away from your bowl, taking far greater interest in the park across the street. You set your bowl back on the outdoor dinning table, instead crossing your arms and reclining further into your chair.
Damian recognized your tells: you were pulling away from him and the situation, crossing your arms in an effort to close yourself off.
You were watching a small family sit at their picnic blanket when you finally spoke. "Things have changed since I left," you began. "I knew that when I came back, of course, but . . . I just don't know if I belong here anymore, Damian."
When he didn't make any move to reply, you went on. Still, you did not look at him. It was easier to speak that way. "I've been gone for too long. I've grown between every city, except this one. This city has grown without me." Now you let the family be. You turned your stare instead to your lap. "I can't make up for this much lost time, Dame. I've wasted three months to figure that out."
For a long time, he was quiet. Soaking in your words became a weighted task, one that distracted him from the things going on around him.
He missed you stealing glances at his face, skimming over his furrowed brows and void eyes. He wasn't frowning, but he was close.
"What gives you that idea, [L/N]?"
You felt your ears twitch when he finally spoke. "What?"
He repeated himself, finally meeting your eyes. "Why do you feel that you don't belong here any longer?"
You drew up your shoulders and slouched in your seat, a futile effort to fight against the cold breeze. "Come on, Damian. You of all people should know the answer to that." You gave up, pushing your chair out to stand. "Nothing is the same. What once was is no more."
You swore his eyes sparked a second time, and when he stood to meet your posture, he seemed clumsy and off balance. You shrugged it off as the bone-chilling cold tightening his muscles.
"When will you leave then?" he asked. "Where are you planning to go?"
You walked inside the cafe side by side, with you fishing out a few dollar bills from your wallet, and Damian retrieving his card from his jacket pocket. "I don't know. I'm not even sure if I will leave."
He nodded sullenly.
Back outside, as you were pulling out your pack, Damian turned to you once again. "I hope you'll be around long enough for the winter charity ball."
You paused, cigarette pinned between your teeth, hand cupped around an unlit lighter. You flicked the switch and lit your end. You took a long drag before you answered. "You know I hate those things."
His lips quirked up at the ends. "I do. Still, I thought I'd extend the invitation, anyway. It begins at six o'clock on the twelfth."
You raised an eyebrow. "Plus one?"
He bowed his head in a silly effort to hide a smile. "Of course."
You took another drag. You spoke through smoke, "I'll think about it."
He chuckled, "That's all I ask."

How would Junkrat react to finding out his (female ofc) s/o is pregnant? Like there's a lot of different ways he could take it and I wanna know what you think?
Hey there! Wow, so I haven’t like…done a request in months, haha. I still love Overwatch ESPECIALLY my Junkers, but I recently got into Final Fantasy 14 (the mmo, hmu if you play it too ayyy) so I haven’t touched OW in roughly two months. There’s about 20 requests sitting in here but most are kind of…boring and uninspiring for me. No offense, I guess I just like weirder stuff and what I’ve got so far is kinda basic/repetitive/not a lot to go by. Then I get this, and hey! I like it a lot! So thanks for the interesting question. You are absolutely right, I feel that there are a LOT of different ways ya boy could take this news - perhaps all at once. So, here’s what I think of it! It’s not all happy and sunflowery so, just a warning
Junkrat Reacting to Pregnant Reader
⭐  FEMALE PRONOUNS BY REQUEST ⭐
⭐  ⭐  SFW ⭐  ⭐
⭐  ⭐  ⭐  CONTENT WARNING; slightly darkish towards the end. Don’t read if you’re sensitive to that kind of thing? ⭐  ⭐  ⭐
First off, you’ll have to refresh his memory on what the word “pregnant” means. Yes, he knows what it means, but in the context of you and him? What? How? It makes little to no sense. He’ll ask you to repeat yourself, over and over again, in a, “Explaining Pregnancy to a Child for Dummies” sort of way.
At first, he’s thrilled. Unless your reaction is that of complete and utter disdain, he’s already picking out stupid names. Is it a boy? Is it a girl? He thinks you’ll know immediately, just by the test alone. Actually, since Overwatch is a little bit more into the future, maybe they are technologically advanced enough to be able to tell somehow. If the omnic equivalent of iRobot happens then sure, why the fuck not.
He’ll go on to ramble that he hopes it’s a girl. Hope she’d be soft and strong and warm and beautiful just like her mother. This is where (my idea that he’s got low self esteem plays in) he starts to mumble that he’d be afraid to have a kid just like him, but if it’s with you, it’ll probably be a healthy little baby.
As time passes, and the more he spends alone and doing his best to research books the likes of, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” he becomes…increasingly worrisome.
He looks at himself. He can’t be a father. The thought of leaving you, to raise the child alone does not cross his mind - though he does wish you two would have someone better.
Junkrat wonders if you would actually want to carry “his” kid. Reassurance from you is necessary. Once he feels confident enough in your response, he lets you know that you’re in this together, thick and thin. If you two aren’t married already, he would likely propose during this surge of confidence.
Joke headcanon: Steals Obtains generic “dad” clothing and delivers poor imitations of Soldier 76.
All is fun and well until, let’s say Mercy, approaches the two of you separately, discussing the complications with radiation poisoning and pregnancy. Solely for an extra safety precaution, she’ll suggest you limit your time spent with Junkrat for a while and you will have more prenatal exams than a normal woman - just in case.
This worries him. Will you be alright? The last thing he’d want to do is harm you! Are you sure you want to go through with this? Even though you don’t even have a bump yet, he’s going to be hyper-vigilant and careful - as he can be…
Someone gets too close to you? MAKE WAY, COMING THROUGH, PREGNANT GIRLFRIEND OVER HERE. At first it’s endearing, but then, Christ, it gets annoying. Still, you appreciate his efforts to hurry people out of the bathroom whenever you have to go. The boy truly does go above and beyond.
Going to sort of a sad/darker mood (sorry), I have a feeling that Junkrat’s got some low quality/low count/damaged sperm* (I hate that word). I love him, you all love him, but he’s not exactly the picture of health - so I feel it’s pretty likely (then again, I legit did only 10 minutes worth of Google research, so correct me if you’re more educated on the topics lmfao). I think miscarriage*, or the risk of a baby with difficulty is possible.
*links are the two websites I quickly read through. Hey, at least I’m honest and not pretending I know everything, eh?
The best outcome would be.. an abortion (hey, we are pro-choice on this blog) and instead, the two of you would be better off adopting. The conclusion is that it would be a very risky pregnancy, and they want it to be as least traumatic for you as possible. Junkrat gets the idea of adopting a kid from Junkertown, because why not try and give ‘em a shot at a better life?
If you really did want to become pregnant, get a sperm donor - a baby from Junkrat would, sorry, probably not be a healthy one.
Overall, he’s not sad about you not being able to carry his kid. Blood is irrelevant. So long as you’re happy, whether you have one kid or twenty, whether they’re adopted or you become pregnant by a donor, none of that matters. Family is family when you love each other.
Extra extra: So yeah, in short, I think a successful pregnancy with Junkrat would not be possible. I wouldn’t trust him with a fucking Cabbage Patch kid, let alone an actual baby anyways. Not his fault - but you ever just see that one person you know cannot hold a baby? So adopt, skip the baby phase and find a bigger kid. Junkrat would be AMAZING - just the right amount of energy to play, always up for sports - headcanon that his version of any regular sport is twice as dangerous, with fireworks thrown into the mix somehow - and your kid will definitely grow up tough and self-reliant with him as a dad. Shit at wording advice, but if you put it through a machine that makes words smarter, what comes out would…actually make lots of sense. Also, the guy can fix anything. Kid broke their favourite toy? Junkrat’s on the case. Even if the kid doesn’t like tinkering as a hobby, they’ll surely grow up with some handy skills that’ll help later in life.
Aaaaand look at that, I’ve gone off topic. Sorry but Junkrat and his S/O adopting an older kid(s) from Junkertown to give them a better life, really makes me happy. Sorry if this isn’t exactly what you wanted, but this is just where my mind went;;;
And if anyone has better information on the bullet regarding the links I provided, any insight and education is appreciated. I did my best!

Dusty’s Plot Wishlist
Apparently I didn’t have one, or at least not one up to date on this blog, so I figured I’d fix that! Here’s a list of wanted plots that I’m absolutely interested in carrying out with anybody. Some of these are super muse specific and others are generic, but if your muse fits the criteria for any of these, by all means hit me up and we can discuss it! More will be added to this list when I can think of ‘em.
General
Music Session with Leon. It doesn’t matter what sorta style your muse likes. Let ‘em play around on instruments, sing alone or jam on headphones.
Prank Wars. Doesn’t matter if they’re between Leon and your muse, or if they team up to cause mischief around the community. Just. Let. Them. Be. Devils.
Clothing-Related? I don’t even know what to say about this but... Leon is completely down for dress up selfie shoots or just trying on the weirdest styles. Hell, he’ll buy whatever looks good on either him or your muse.
Competitive Sports. By all means, challenge Leon to a game of something. It doesn’t even hafta be baseball; He’s gonna agree to it anyway and they’re gonna go ridiculously hard even if it’s something as simple as thumb wrestling. Just gotta be enthusiastic.
Sibling-like Relationship. Leon’s cool with friends, romantic partners and bros, but where’s the relationships where he just bonds with someone so well that they may as well become honorary siblings in each other’s family? Leon’s an only child for the most part so y’know, let him have an honorary sib.
Cooking. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TEACH THIS MOTHERFUCKIN’ MICROWAVE MASTER HOW TO COOK PLEASE.
Carnival Outing. Oh fuck yeah. Leon would love any sort of amusement park or carnival. Of course he’d also win every single prize at any carnival game booth that involved throwing, but y’know, all’s fair.
General Text Threads. Not exactly a plot, but I don’t really have a lot of texting threads, and for good reason. I would sorta wanna see some goofy relationship building in text format though. Since Leon does love social media and his phone.
Working Out/Locker Room Shenanigans. Pretty much his home territory. Let him be a ridiculous fool where he feels natural.
READING WITH LEON. Teach the boy to appreciate a good book, please. Your muse can read comics and manga with him as usual, but he really needs to appreciate any book sometime before he becomes an independent adult.
Post-HPA Verse (’After Graduation’)
Literally any hanging out/catching up threads. ‘Oh we haven’t seen each other much since graduating from HPA, but we still sorta keep in touch and now we’re actually making an effort to rekindle our relationship.’
Leon’s Professional Baseball Games. Go out and accompany him to a game. Let him perform for you, whether you’re a platonic or romantic companion, he’s gonna make each game special for YOU alone.
Interviews. Post-HPA Leon’s a super successful athlete after all. He’s gonna be doing interviews. If your muse wants to come along, maybe even somehow get roped into the interview alongside Leon, that’s absolutely rad.
Travel Threads. You wanna go someplace? Let’s do it then. Doesn’t matter where, just up and go. Leon’s down, he’s got the money, just pick up and go on a week’s trip to wherever the hell you want. All he asks is that you let him take a ton of selfies while he’s there.
And of course, develop a full relationship that carries on into his adult life.
Survivor Verse (FF Verse)
Excursions into the apocalyptic cities. Sure there’s gonna be some risked lives, but... Why not actually go out there and achieve some of the FF bureaus’ goals? Leon’s game is public relations, but aside from a bodyguard or accompanying moral support, the sky’s sorta the limit for creativity otherwise.
Despair Information Session. Leon doesn’t and wouldn’t know everything anyway. He’s not really the most information-savvy guy, but he’d want to know what happened with his older classmates.
I’m gonna list these two in here as well, because like, I don’t REALLY have a specific verse for these but they’re closer to survivor than anything else so.
MEETING MASARU. That’s... That’s the plot. Let Leon meet his mini-me.
I dunno, I always sorta wanted a Komaeda-esque relationship with Leon and the WoH. Leon’s probably able to serve them and entertain them. In a weird way, despite the whole killing thing, he could see it as amusing enough. Hey, if he’s living, all’s good, in his mind. It could be fun to see how he interacts with each of the WoH I guess, y’know? A demon, but not the worst demon.
Muse-Specific
Leon and Sayaka/Kaede/Ibuki discussing music. Leon would be more attentive to what they hafta say, and it’s kinda a big deal for him to learn from them.
Leon defying Ishimaru. Oh please. Ishimaru can try to write Leon up all he wants, but that doesn’t mean he’s gonna listen. Leon doesn’t hate the guy, but he’s gonna tease him about being uptight, then try to understand him, maybe.
Leon and Junko discussing social media/interviews/fan life. Y’know, if she isn’t completely despair-ridden at that point, it could be a good point of conversation.
Goatee Bros. That’s... That’s the plot. Kaito where you at dude.
Leon and Amami traveling. Where the fuck to? Who knows? Who cares? They’d look great doin’ it, and they’d both be adventurous af.
Leon and Amami talking fashion/accessories. Also, I mean, there IS that one picture of Amami ‘jokingly’ painting Leon’s nails... Hmm...
Leon cool-mentoring the dweebs. PRETTY MUCH gonna be Naegi/Saihara/Souda(?)/Hajime(?) among other muses. Leon’s super outgoing and as long as they give him the time of day, he’s gonna break ‘em outta their shells and comfort zones and make them a little better socially.
Leon and Komaeda fucking destroying the carnival/arcade. Between their luck and skill, they’d clean the place out so easily wtf.
Leon and Saihara/Kirigiri/Chihiro/Byakuya/Toko/Kirumi/??? There were others, but mainly... Educate the boy. Please. Figure out a way to make the boy smarter without destroying his will to be in school completely.
Leon and Tsumugi Cosplay Hour. Hey, as long as he looks good and cool, he’ll wear literally anything. Considering the amount of times he’s changed his look, he’s pretty chameleon-like. He’ll find a way.
I’m still 1000% down for Leon and a bro roommate. Specifically a dude to room with though. Any in particular? Nah.
TBD??? More???

Simon movie/music headcanons? Simon and/or Jessica + babysitting (since you said he’s better with kids and I’d love to see your take). Also the obligatory “ah crap we gotta go to Gotham” hc/storyline crossover with Batfam/Batman? No pressure you just said “ideas?” And I saw so many scrolling through :)
I’m crying thank you!!! ok I really really really blabbered on here so I’m gonna put a read more on
music : Simon was a hundred percent behind Britney Spears & really hated (& still hates J*stin T*mberlake) & is still a known stan, also he loved the Spice Girls & while he’s been  a lil busy to listen to current music & know who they’re talking about he would totally die for Beyoncé
movie’s : he’s a nerd so I think he’d be really into sci-fi/fantasy movies but also I think he’d watch gotg & yell about how theres actually no sound in space so in reality I think he unapologetically loves romcoms & his fav movies are The Princess Bride, 2005′s Pride & Prejudice, Big Eden tbh & also Jessica thinks its adorable
babysitting : ok ok my actual weakness? Simon with kids??? ok ok, he’s literally the best uncle ever & its not like he’s a kid whisperer but he’d literally never raise his voice to a minor/woman ever like he could be giving Farid cooking lessons & Farid could literally dumb boiling water on him & Simon would be all calm & make sure FArid was ok & the stuff was put away b4 he saw to his burns like he..just won’t yell at kids, he’s a good man & he was yelled at by alot of people when he was little & he’d never wanna be a grown ass man who tried to scare kids like them so he just would never???? & when he’s watching kids they get that, like they know he’s gonna enforce the rules but he’d like talk to them not scream/punish, & he’s really good at getting into their games because he can literally carry like 4 toddlers at once somebody stop this beautiful man. when any of Farid’s friends accidentally break one of his toys (or Farid himself) Simon can literally just fix it & he makes sure they understand that so they don’t get to upset. he’s also a firm believer in the saying sorry rule as in “sorry means you won’t do “it” again” & makes sure the kids understand that when they are in trouble, he also is really cool & really does enjoy spending his free time w family & friends, so he will always help Farid & his friends (if they’re over) w homework & he loves helping him w projects tbh (when Farid is older & in the science fair, trust me when I say Farid’s not entering with a weak ass volcano), there’s so much more I can go on about Simon & kids forever so I’m prob gonna make a parent hc post eventually tbh, so I’m gonna move on to Jessica.
Jessica : admittedly I put less thought into this, ok so while I think Jess isn’t bad w kids like she’s not one of those freaks who are mean to kids for no reason, I don’t think she’d like actively try to deal with them like on cases she’s content having Simon play w them & honestly she doesn’t like babies they cry & they can be hurt so easily & she doesn’t want to hurt them so she never holds them & like children kinda give her anxiety because she doesn’t wanna upset them so she overthinks everything she says & does w them & how they interpret it & it’s a never ending spiral of panicking so…yeah she doesn’t seek em out, but! when they go to her while she’s patroling or hanging w Simon’s fam or something she’s so nice??? she doesn’t realize it but her smile & how she talks to them?? every kid just gets inspired to be just like her?? like with Simon they feel safe but with Jessica they feel like heroes??? does any of that make sense I’m just kinda blabbering & I’m gay & can’t explain my thoughts properly lol
gotham/batfam : ok them going to Gotham for a case is interesting but whats more interesting??? going to Gotham because Bruce invited him! like Bats invited him to the cave so…he visits, like while he works w the League it makes sense for him to work on the League’s official vehicles, but he gets asks to look at the batmobile? like ok let me explain Bats is a dad & Simon’s roughly his eldest’s age so he low-key reminds him of Dick (esp personality wise) & he feels unappreciated? Bats isn’t good w words but he is good w gestures so yeah he asks Simon to fix his car after is crashes the billionth time & yeah he lets Simon upgrade it lord knows it needed them & sure maybe he had Alfred bully Simon into staying for dinner to make sure he ate & sure maybe he made sure Damian was here because Simon loves children & having him teach Damian about cars while he worked on it cheered him up but he doesn’t care or anything (he’s /this/ close to writing up adoption orders).
Simon w the rest of the fam starting w Alfred: he loves him there’s just a shared respect of someone who does everything for family, like everytime they see eachother the look the exchange…it tells a thousand stories, also they exchange reciepes & cooking tips (& parenting tips) all the time & when Simon goes over he’ll bring something he made from one of Alf’s recipes & Alf will make one of Simon’s & they’ll see how it turned out….what I’m saying is that they’re bros’s they’re /this/ close to starting a book club together
Dick: like Alfred they bonded near instantly from the mutual reconition of doing everything for their family but also Dick hit on him once & if Simon wasn’t crazy about Jessica right then he would’ve taken him up on it, Simon mostly visits either to just chat, for some advice w Jessica or tbh to hang w his bf Tiger,  when he visits he always brings food so Dick really doesn’t mind tbh, long story short is they bros but like more low-key than him & Alf & Bruce
Jason: Simon doesn’t really have a no killing rule or anything but he doesn’t like it at all y’know but he also doesn’t disagree w Jason’s methods so he doesn’t but heads w him but Jason did come to see him w he found out he was hanging w Alf, now Jason joined in on his & Alf’s recipe trades & sometimes they’ll talk about books or something. Really they’re not close but Jason really appreciates having another person to talk to (& he really is that ride or die friend) & who doesn’t judge him at all tbh & Simon’s really just the same way, like they only talk once or twice a month but they do mean alot to each other. also Jason bullies Simon into befriending Roy,Artemis & Bizzaro & while the latter two took some time to like him & Roy hit it off immediately to Jason’s instant regret
Tim: Tim’s smart but honestly him & Simon just clash y’know & (tim stans don’t interact) like y’know if he wanted to talk to a genius he’d talk to Cyborg,Cisco,Dick, or Bruce (who are smarter)? before him like Tim’s just young enough & just old enough that Simon doesn’t really deal w his age group? I do think Simon’s nice to him but theres just no friendship between them they just coexist tbh
Duke: Duke’s a new young hero who’s actually up in the daytime!?? so yeah him & Simon run into eachother alot & Simon’s been in the business just long enough not to be a rookie so he helps alot & Simon was shocked at how smart Duke was tbh & really likes talking stuff w him if only to see how long it’ll take for him to figure it out? & its always so quick? Simon can’t wait to see how big he’ll be in a few years so while Simon’s only like 6-8 years older then him he’s sorta tryin to be a mentor to him
Damian: Bruce is Jewish & so is literally the rest of the fam so Simon’s literally one of the only practicing Muslims that see Damian often so he invites Damian to his family for their holidays & celebrations & that may be the only times they interact but it means so much to Damian & the family when he does it
Cass: Cass is the best judge of character in the entire DC universe & she saw Simon & decided he was good & just?? befriended him like they don’t bond over anything in particular but Simon always treats her like a princess (in a nice way) & Cass & Jess are friends so Simon’s cool w her & they’re both pretty much the friends yelling (& signing in Cass’s case) your doing amazing sweetie when they see eachother
Steph: She’s closer to Jessica but honestly Stephanie’s the Gina Linetti of the dc universe she’s that bitch she’s a known icon, when you need someone destroyed via social media you go to her & given the amount of shit on the green lantern official twitter (they’ve had one for public realations since Hal’s Earth GL days) against Simon & Jessica for terrible reasons…lets just say…Steph’s the friend to have tbh (Vic, & Babs just threaten to shut down twitter when it happens Steph detroys them)
Luke: Simon heard Luke’s story & he knew how smart he was but he wasn’t ready for when they met, they talked for hours & once Simon invited him to come to a bar w him & Vic they immediately become that group of science bros, but also he & Vic are like the only people Simon knows that “sport” & while Simon really doesn’t its nice to feel like a “normal” dude sometimes so he always watches the game w him
Tiffany : Tiffany’s such a genius & Simon’s a engineer & Tiffany thought that was so cool “Luke you’ve gotta invite him over c’mooooon” so yeah Simon came over to meet this Tiffany & they literally spent the better part of an entire day talking shop it was honestly one of the best days of Simon’s life, now Simon takes her to science exhibits w Luke & lectures & Tiffany tells him about what she learned each day & Simon always asks the right questions & yeah they’re just nerdy bffs
Helena (Rebirth): she scared him at first but Simon understands trying to be a hero after doing things you’re not proud of & situations you can’t always control & they may not be friends but Simon does believe she’s good & that means everything to her
Babs (Oracle): you can’t be a hero & not know who Oracle is, she keeps everything running together?? they don’t talk much honestly Simon barely knows her name but aside from his Mom,Sister, & Jessica there’s no one he respects more
Claire : Simon thought it was funny at first, like this little girl really got up & decided to be a hero & then did it??? & continues to do it everynight???? but then he found out what it does to her & Simon & her have & will probaly never meet but Simon always asks about her to make sure she’s doing ok, Simon is planning on going to the guardians to see why she can’t get a ring because he can’t think of much things braver than dying a little bit each time you’re a hero
Harper  : she really did that? like for her brother god does Simon respect that & Simon  doing all of that for someone who may as well be his brother? god does Harper respect that. they bond over mechanical stuff & help each other on projects & once they started hanging out God does Harper’s suit & gadgets improve like holy shit
Kate : Simon was honestly uncomfortable with her when he found out she was ex military & honestly is still a little but he does recognize her importance & when he sees her prowling the night god  does he leave her alone
Jessica w the Batfam stating w Bruce : I like to think there’s a few hero support groups for various things & she didn’t wanna go to the anxiety one alone so Bats (who already went but she didn’t need to know that) offered to go with her & she knew he took Simon to the depression one so she said yes, & now they go together every week & honestly it means alot to her & they kinda bonded over that (and how much they both love Simon (Bruce in a paternal way)
Alfred : Jessica adores Alfred he’s like the second easiest person to talk to & he’s so calming & he makes tea & he never talks down to her & he gives good advice so whenever Simon visits Jessica tries to come to if just to sit with the man he’s her new favorite Grampa
Dick : Dick’s younger than the league but super experienced in the hero business & tbh theres not many who are more experienced so when she needs help w a gig but is not about to call the league the contacts him (over text obv), they don’t hang much, because despite popular taste Dick’s a lil too serious for her taste, she does appreciate the effort he makes to make her feel like they’re peers when he’s clearly issuing commands, she def sees thru his jokes & facade & while she never mentions it there’s a understanding between them
Jason : Jess doesn’t like killing point blank (ayy) but she understands the J*ker needs to uhhh die so she refuse to hang w him on moral grounds but also she’s low-key rooting for him tbh
Tim : I think they just met over completely normal conversations?? like they both just awkwardly talked & everytime they meet they just meet & awkwardly talk? Jessica’s glad he’s back (it was not fun seeing Bats mourn) & Tim thinks she’s a fucking powerhouse but yeah their relationship is literally the  friends of a mutual friend that constantly meet & talk but also aren’t really friends
Duke : Jess thinks Duke is so cool, he’s one of Gotham’s only superpowered heroes & he’s pretty much its only line of defense during the day. what she didn’t expect was how much of a nerd he was, when they finally met they spent no less than 8 hours throughout the day talking about Lord of the Rings
Damian : Damian doesn’t partically care about Jess one way or the other but when they did meet he wanted to know why she changed her costume as the old one was clearly had a better design, Jess didn’t have the heart to explain all that happened but they did start talking about art & stuff, now their relationship is mostly Jess commissioning him to draw her oc’s tbh
Cass : Cass is also part of the girls club & honestly Jess & her bond so much talking about how their disability’s effect their day to day lives, they each have their own support system but there’s no reason they can’t support eachother. aren’t close friends but are still one of eachothers greatest cheerleaders
Steph : Steph is part of the girls club & they both love pokemon honestly they kept on running into eachother when pokemon go came out & they still play it together, alot of the girl heroes get together all the time for a ladies night & while Jess isn’t ready yet Steph is putting an honest (& impressive) effort in convincing her (she’s close tho)
Luke : they’re so mutually impressed by eachothers determination, like they’re not close at all but god do they respect eachother
Tiffany : they respect eachothers aesthetics & thats the strongest way for women to become friends tbh, always have makeup on hand for eachother. their friendship is the true definition of girl solidarity tbh. Tiffany’s so busy coming off as intelligent that sometimes she forgets to be a lil girl & its so easy w Jessica, Luke swears she looks like she’s going to disneyland or something everytime Jessica comes over
Helena (Rebirth): again she doesn’t like killers but she’s part of the girls club & while there may be no love between them Jess does believe in second chances & she really is rooting for her
Babs : Jessica is so shook by her, Babs is shook by her they recognize powerhouses when they see it & Jessica seeing a disabled woman being easily the power house of the batfam??? she’s honestly never felt so inspired, Jess hands down hero worships her & tbh Babs is shocked because a effing Green Lantern thinks she’s powerful & that mutual validation??? awe inspiring
Claire : they also met at the hero support group & Jessica’s with Simon, like she came back to life (sorta) because of a Green Lantern ring why can’t Claire have one?? they hang out together & honestly Claire’s one of the few people Jessica’s comfortable going “out & about” with
Harper : part of the girl squad & while they don’t have much in common they really do like each other in wow that one girl that saved me last night seems really cool tbh, definite respect there
Kate : she’s so gay for her but everytime Kate flirts w her she forgets how to fuction therefore their relationship is in a constant impasse tbh, the constant paradox of wanting to be her gf but also can’t talk to her & Kate just wants to learn her name
omg that took forever pls tell me if I missed anyone & please feel free to send more asks!!! thank you!!!

Fandom: Marvel Pairing: Bucky Barnes x (Maximoff)reader Genres: insecurity, mild angst, super fluff Words: 1.710 Summary: You feel insecure and useless because of your lack of special abilities. Bucky notices it and comforts you - requested by Anonymous
Late evening finds you in the kitchen area, making yourself yet another cup of tea. It’s your pick-me-up drink – green tea with honey and you usually make it when your mood is down.
Which is almost every day lately.
You’re ordinary. And it wouldn’t be that bad if you were surrounded by similar ordinary non-special people. But you, being a Maximoff, are living with a team of skilled, gifted people, the Avengers, which makes you feel like a not needed obstacle at times.
Wanda and Pietro never did anything to make you feel unwanted. When you were at Strucker’s base, during the experiments, you were fairly convinced that you, too, would show a sign of mutation, just as they did.
It turned out that the scepter did not affect you in a way it did your sibling, making you nothing more but a rubbish. Only Wanda’s angry protests resulted in you being kept there. Strucker was ready to get rid of you when an occasion occurred, since you were useless, having manifested no mutation.
You had no idea why you failed at it. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Wanda and Pietro were twins, maybe it was because they were older. Nobody knew.
And since the day the Avengers came and destroyed the base you were only proven that you were only Wanda’s and Pietro’s sister and only because of it they allowed you to live with at the compound.
Sure, you were clever and sometimes helpful, especially during an emergency rescue missions when everything had to be settled immediately, within a few minutes. You knew how to stay focused and organized and there were times when Tony didn’t even touch anything because you had everything handled within seconds.
Still, you were not irreplaceable. If you left, they would surely do well without you.
Heaving out a sigh, you take the cup and make to the living area. You plan on watching a comedy or something of that sorts, in hopes that it will cheer you up.
You have the entire place to yourself – the rest is on the mission. Only Bucky, Steve’s friend, was left at the compound. Usually, the two of you would just mind one another’s business, even while being in the same room; sometimes you’d spent hours on talking. You wouldn’t call it friendship but you enjoyed being around him. He was quiet, but once he opened his mouth,  you could be sure he’d throw a joke here and there or tell you something he had recalled about 40s.
But today you want to be alone. You don’t want to talk to anybody, don’t want to see anyone, just you and your tea. And maybe a movie.
Once you reach the living area, you carefully place the cup on the table and reach for the remote while making yourself comfortable on the couch. You curl up in the couch’s end, your knees almost touching your chin. You are aware that you look miserable but it’s not like anyone will notice. Maybe Wanda, if she was here, would sense that you were upset.
Shuffling through the channels you have yet to find anything interesting and because of the noise the TV makes you don’t hear Bucky entering the place. You notice his presence only when he lets out a small huff while sitting down.
You jerk your head, quite startled and Bucky smiles softly.
“Sorry, Y/N, didn’t want to scare you.”
“It’s okay,” you say, shrugging and turn your attention to the screen. Finally, you find a Friends marathon and decide to watch it.
Frankly, you don’t pay too much attention to what is happening in the show. You just stare at the screen blindly, your mind occupied with the thoughts of being in the way, of being unneeded and useless.
You tug on sleeves of your sweater. It’s oversized, so you’re able to cover your entire palms, which you do, hugging your legs to your chest. You don’t see it but Bucky’s glancing at you every now and then, he’s face concerned. Yes, he noticed that you were out of sorts pretty often but usually a bit of jesting would make you smile and you were always up for a conversation. But not today. Today you seem oddly detached, unsure and utterly sad.
“Y/N,” he calls your name quietly, not wanting to prod too much. You don’t seem to hear it so he calls again, a bit louder this time.
“Hm?” you absentmindedly answer, not even looking at him and Bucky shifts a bit closer.
“I’m wearing Sam’s boxers.”
“That’s cool,” you say emotionlessly, like a robot and for a moment Bucky fears that something really bad happened to you. You sound almost like him while he was under HYDRA’s control.
“Y/N, can you look at me?”
“No, I’m busy. I’m watching the show.”
“Commercial break is on right now,” he states and you blink. When did it happen?
“Oh,” you pant and turn your gaze at him. Was he so close before or you didn’t even notice when he scooted closer?
“You okay?” he inquires, his voice soft, his eyes sympathetic and you find yourself unable to bottle it up any longer.
“No, Bucky. What am I even doing here?” you whine, tears filling your eyes and you bite at your lower lip to prevent them from falling.
“Right now we’re sitting in a dark room, watching ice cream commercial. But that’s not what you meant, is it?”
You shake your head and sniffle. Bucky reaches to the table to give you a tissue box before you start crying. You can’t hold it back anymore – the insecurities you kept hidden have clawed their way out and you can’t do much about it now.
“I’m useless,” you stutter between cries and Bucky knits his brows, a look of disbelief clear on his face.
“That’s bullshit, doll.”
“No, Bucky. I don’t do anything here. There’s nothing special about me.”
“You’re wrong, Y/N.”
“I’m not. I’m just a girl who’s here because my sister can do stuff with her mind and my brother runs super fast.”
“Maybe that’s what special about you, okay? That you didn’t let the scepter change you?”
“Bucky, that doesn’t make sense,” you protest as you wipe at your cheeks and Bucky smirks.
“No, it does. Just hear me out. You’re so wonderful and strong inside that the scepter couldn’t break you.”
You frown, not really following his logic. Is he really suggesting that you sibling was too weak to fight back the scepter’s power but you succeeded? How could he even think of it that way?
“Look, the only special person around here is Thor. He’s a God, like a legit, real God, but the rest? We’re all just a bunch of people who were given a serum or something. Tony’s a genius, nothing very special about it –“ you snort and Bucky gives you an amused look. “- Sam’s got his wings but without them he’s just a regular guys. Nat was trained since young to be an assassin. Steve and I got a super-soldier juice. Bruce, well… Bruce is, uhm, different.”
“He’s a green mountain of rage,” you say, your voice playful and Bucky cracks a grin.
“If you put it this way… But you know what I mean? You’re the most special from all of us. You wanna know why?”
“Yeah.”
“Because even though you don’t have ‘super powers’ you put up with all this madness which is living with us and without a word of comply you give your time to bake us cookies or read Clint a book when he’s beefing that he’s so very tired after a mission. You listen to my rumbling. You always say good stuff about Steve’s sketches. Nat told me that you’re best when it comes to picking an outfit for a night out.”
“No, I’m not,” you try to protest but Bucky taps your nose which makes you wrinkle it.
“Don’t downgrade yourself, doll. We’d be lost without you, really. I know I would!” he assures and cup your cheeks, suddenly feeling bashful. You never looked at it the way Bucky just presented. To you, it seemed your presence was bothering everyone and they were nice only out of courtesy.
“I’m really that important?”
“Hell yes! Remember when you told Tony he should turn the project upside down to look for faults? He actually ended up making it that way because it was better. And he stated, out loud and in front of witnesses, that you’re smarter than him.”
“Shut up, Bucky.”
“Do I see a blush there?” he teases and you hide your face in your hands to cover it. He damn sure saw you blushing very clearly.
“Y/N, doll, please, don’t do that.”
“Do what?” you mumble from behind your hands and Bucky chuckles airily as he reaches to uncover your face. You shiver slightly at the contrast of temperature of his hands but it’s not unpleasant. You always found it fascinating.
“That’s better,” he says and smiles brightly when you look at him, your hands squeezed in his. It’s hard to not smile while Bucky’s face is lit up and so you do, readily throwing yourself in his embrace when he opens his arms for you.
He quickly scoops you up his lap, his arms wrapped around your frame, his thumbs rubbing small circles on your back. You feel so at easy, so peaceful that you nuzzle your face into his neck, almost melting into him.
He doesn’t seem to mind, his arms tightening slightly around you. You sigh contently, closing your eyes as Bucky tilts his head to press a quick kiss to your forehead.
Paradoxically, the man who was the most distant and quiet, was the one to pick you up and help you look at yourself in a totally new light. And with a newly gained confidence about yourself you decide to say something you buried so deep that even your sister couldn’t find it.
“I like you, Bucky,” you state simply and you feel Buck’s lips curl up in a smile.
“I like you, too, Y/N.”
And simple as that, your previously grey, shadowy world begins to fill with colors again.
