God, you fucking hate the cold. If you could live in a sunny place for the rest of your life, you would. Maybe when you’re older, you’ll buy a house in both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere so you don’t ever have to be in the cold weather again. Some people say the cold is better because you can bundle up and snuggle in blankets. Fuck that shit. You hate the feeling of chills running down your spine and goosebumps rising on your skin. It doesn’t matter how many blankets you bundle up in, that chill never goes away.
The only good thing that can come from cold weather is the snow. Snow isn’t so bad because you get to have fun outside. The more you run around and play with your friends, the hotter you get until the cold isn’t an issue anymore.
Still, you wish summer was here.
The path from the library to your dorm isn’t far but the cold makes the journey stretch to what feels like miles. You walk past a group of trees when you get ambushed by flying snowballs. You gasp and protect your face from the biting cold only to hear the familiar laughter of your friends.
“You little shits! You’re gonna pay!” you grin.
You grab handfuls of snow and start throwing, not knowing exactly who is getting hit. You grab a bigger handful of snow to throw at the instigator of the group but when you throw it at him, he ducks out of the way. The snowball slams into the face of a complete stranger. Everyone stops playing around as you approach the unsuspecting victim.
“I am so sorry. Are you okay?” you gasp.
The snow falls from her face and the bluest of blue eyes stares at you. She narrows her eyes in anger but you can’t seem to focus on anything but her beauty.
“Have better aim next time.”
She shrugs the rest of the snow off her before walking away. You’re stuck in your place; you can’t seem to move even if you wanted to. You stare at her retreating figure, and one of your friends slaps his hands on your back.
“Someone has a crush,” he sings.
“Shut the fuck up. This is your fault. You ducked out of the way.”
“Not my fault you’re too slow.”
You push him away from you and depart from your group of friends. That kind of killed the mood so you’re ready to go back to your dorm and dream about the mysterious blonde woman.
A few days later, you rush over to soccer practice inside the huge dome field. They put the dome up whenever there is severe weather like heaps of snow outside so you can at least practice. You’re new to the team and this is your first practice. You’ve dabbled in the sport in high school and figured you’d give it a try in college.
You’re off to the side stretching when you hear people yelling. You look up just as a soccerball smacks into the side of your face. Whoever kicked it didn’t do it hard enough to break any bones, but you know there will be a slight bruise there later on.
You gasp and look around the field to see who might have kicked it. You lock eyes with the same blue eyes you’ve fallen for. She flips her hair back and smirks, giving you wide unapologetic eyes.
“I am so sorry. Are you okay?” she asks.
You want to be mad. You want to be pissed she did this out of spite. Instead, you’re smitten all over again. If she wants to play this way, you’ll play her games.
“Have better aim next time,” you tell her the exact words she told you.

You were going crazy at the fact that Spencer was away all week. He checked in with you whenever he could but even then, it wasn’t enough. You wanted him here, with you, cuddling up on the couch with greasy pizza watching trashy sitcoms for fun.
When you got that text from him that he was coming home and the time he’d be at the airport, you raced over as fast as you could.
After waiting for what felt like ages, you saw him. Long floppy disheveled hair, stubble decorating his cheeks and chin, as well as around his upper lip, lanky tall Spencer.
This is what you wanted. As a matter of fact, WHO you wanted.
You got out of the car as he was coming closer and closer to you. “Spencer!” You squealed. The both of you had your arms out and you fit perfectly into his arms just as he fit perfectly into your arms.
“Y/N, I missed you so much, you don’t even understand.”
“I missed you too.”
“When we get back home, I’m gonna give you all the love in the world.”
And he was about to do just that.
Until he got the call.
But Spencer just got home, you thought. You never really understood how time consuming and demanding his job as an FBI agent was.
“Baby, I’m so so sorry,” Spencer said. “Tonight was supposed to be all about you.
You frowned but you understood. “It’s okay Spence. I’ll be here when you’re back.
Spencer kissed you passionately before grabbing his go bag and walking out the door.
✯✯✯✯
This time, it was only three days that Spencer was away. You had talked to him about tapping back into reality for a little, but it was hard to convince Spencer to step away from the job he loved the most. Something must’ve changed when he texted you that he was getting some days off so he could spend some time with you.
Your lips curled into a big smile and you couldn’t wait for him to come home. This time, you were gonna wait for him at home because you had a little… surprise for him.
He came home and you were propped up in the middle of the bed under the covers, Spencer having no idea that you were naked under the covers.
You let him get settled before even coming to you for a kiss. You didn’t know if it was because you were horny for him, or if he was away for too long, but you wanted him.
Badly.
“Spence.”
“Hmm baby?” He asked, drying himself off from his shower.
“I need you.”
“I’m almost ready. I don’t want you to wait any longer than you have to.”
“Come as you are,” you pouted. “I like sleeping with you naked anyway.”
He got a little shy when it came to sleeping naked with you, but it was something that he was working on, with you, because he loved you.
“Only for you,” he smiled. He walked over to the other side of the bed, pulling off the towel wrapped around his waist. Once he got in the bed, your bodies touched and held you.
“I missed this. I missed you,” you said, shifting to face Spencer.
“Me too.”
And with that, he kissed your lips and wandered off into the abyss of intimacy.
✯✯✯✯
3:52am.
You opened your eyes ever so slightly to look at the alarm clock.
Immediately, you realized something wasn’t right. Where was Spencer? You hoped he didn’t have to leave again even though he took days off.
Despite the “buzzed” feeling you felt because of the amazing sex you had with him, it wasn’t the same like any other time.
“Spencer?” you whispered. You said his name again, a bit louder this time.
“Spencer, come back to bed…”
“I’m right here baby.” Spencer whispered. He was in the room and he had just come back from the bathroom. He climbed into bed and took you in his arms.
Suddenly, everything felt so right once again.

Why am I so protective over how Hotch is presented in fics?
Whenever I read one where he's written to be such an asshole I'm like "What? :( ...No. That's... That's not right."
Sure, he can be a bit of a dick at times but he's never just an asshole for the sake of it! Tell me why I get so protective as if this man is real 💀
But he would never straight up yell at Reid or Garcia for talking about things they like. He'd never tell them to "shut the hell up" or tell Morgan he's an embarrassment to the Bureau after flirting with a lady a little
Like what? That's not the same Hotch anymore, mate. He simply would not do this.

_________________________________________
Spencer is in a dark hallway, there's only one way he could go, and that's straight ahead. The small copper door stand there at the end, red light puring out of the cracks. The only sound he can hear is his own steps on the wooden floor. He pulls out his gun and starts walking towards them, as he gets closer, he can hear the muffled sound of two maybe three people.
Spencer is at the door and he slowly pushes them, he again puts up his gun and walks in.
This isn't what he expected to see.
"Oh good. Finally joining us Spency, we're just starting to have real fun."
Spencer is horrified to see you straped in a chair, blood driving down your temple, red lines on your wrists from being tied up, your tears falling down your cheek. Cat stands behind you, caressing your arms while you're squirming, trying to get away.
"Leave her alone. This is about us."
Cat laughs maniacally.
"Not anymore. She's pretty, and very special huh, enough to get little Spencey to finally put down his walls." Cat licks your tears and Spencer tries not to gag he knows absolutely how uncomfortable that is.
"Baby I'm gonna get you out of here, I promise."
"Oh that's cute. But I don't think so not until you give me what I want. Why don't we play a game."
Cat smirks sitting down in your lap and taking off the tape that covered your mouth.
"Spencer, no. Don't play her gam-"
Cat puts a hand over your mouth.
"Ah shut it. So what do you say Spency, one game and I let her leave. I do recommend that you do especially when she's in such a delicate state."
Spencer looks at Cat trying to find the lie in her eyes but there's none, then he looks at you silently asking if what Cat is insinuating is true.
You nod slightly, pulling as far away from Cat as you possibly could.
Spencers heart dropped at that moment.
"Okay."
After hours and hours of playing Cats game he was done.
"Alright that's it. I'm done."
Cat laughs and points a gun at you.
"Gonna kill her like your little Meave."
"No." but before he could do anything Cat pulls the trigger.
"Spencer.... Spencer...."
Spencer stands frozen and closes his eyes.
"SPENCER!"
You shake Spencer as hard as you can but he's still not waking up and screaming your name.
Spencer gasps as he finally wakes up from the nightmare.
"Y/N, you're okay?" He pants and holds your face in his hands, inspecting it for injuries.
"I'm okay Spence, are you? It's not real honey I'm right here."
He pulls you into a tight hug, burying his face in your neck, his hand holding your head. He can't control his emotions, so he cries, and you let him. You're whispering, it's okay, and it wasn't real over and over again, slowly pulling your fingers through Spencers locks.
"Honey, what happened?"
you ask softly looking at Spencers red eyes.
"She had you. She killed you like Meave. And I lost you and our baby, and I couldn't stop it."
"Spence, sweetheart, that won't happen she's locked up. You know I won't let that happen, right? Never." you wipe the tears and kiss his cheek softly.
"I know, but it felt so real I could've lost you."
You smile sadly.
"You'll never lose me okay. Also did I hear you right, something about the baby?"
Spencer looks away, but you turn his head.
"I know we talked about it and we agreed that it's not the best idea but I think I'd like us to talk about it again."
"Well I'm not opposed to it especially because I enjoy baby making process."
Spencer laughs at that, and you're relieved that you've managed to make him smile. Your heart hurts for him he's been through so much, and he deserves the world, and you've made it your mission to take care of him as long as you live.
"I love you."
"Love you too, sap." You laugh and hit him slightly.
"Seriously I don't know what I would do without you, I don't deserve you."
"Spence. None of that nonsense. It's not about deserving it's about choosing, and I choose you every day. How about we start making that baby, what do you say?"
Spencer being Spencer says
"It is very unlikely that you get pregnant on the first try as you're on birth control. It is 91% effective, and you've been using it correctly, so the odds-"
you roll your eyes and push him down on the bed, straddling him, then slowly you kiss him. Spencer deepens the kiss by putting his hand around your neck, pulling you closer. You pull away, and your lips trail down behind his ear gently nibbling the sensitive skin. Your lips continue going lower and lower. You absolutely enjoy the little noises that leave his lips when you softly bite the skin right above his nipple.
"Baby, please." Spencer whispers, and you smile against him.
You gasp as he suddenly turns you around, and has you pinned against the bed, his fingers interlocked with yours.
"I love you. You're incredible."
"I know. Just please touch me." you moan when you lift your hips to rub against him.
"Spence," you whimper as he takes off your shirt and places kisses between your breasts. Not being able to hold it in you moan when Spencers fingers enter you.
"Oh god please don't stop."
Spencer curls his fingers inside and starts fucking you with them making you see the stars, he knows your body so well and knows exactly where you need him the most- which is exactly why he's not touching you there.
"Hugging my fingers so well pretty. You're so tight can't wait to be inside you." all you can do is moan at his words when his thumb finally starts circling your clit.
"Please, please, please." Spencer chuckles and attaches his lips to your nipple swirling his tongue and gently biting it, making you scream.
"Go ahead baby." That's all you need to go over the edge, you cum as you scream Spencers name, nails scratching down his arms.
Spencer barely let's you recover as you feel the head of his cock at your entrance.
"You okay, hon?"
"Please just fuck me."
And who is Spencer to deny you especially when you've asked so nicely.
At first, his thrusts are slow and gentle,he's making love to you.
"Love you so much, princess."
Before you can reply, his fingers find their way to your clit and that combined with the hard thrusts and Spencer spreading your thighs more going deeper makes you see the stars.
"Please I can't I'm so close." you manage to say between the moans and pants he's hitting your spot with every thrust.
"I'm close too just a bit more love." Spencer grunts as he feels you squeezing him, the room is filled with your moans and skin slapping, the tears falling down your face trying not to cum as Spencers thrusts become sloppier and faster.
"Let go, baby. I got you." You hold on to Spencers hair and squeeze his hand as you cum your orgasm overwhelming you. Spencer is not too far behind as soon as you came and squeezed him he was a goner, and the sound he let out was borderline pornographic.
When he tries to pull out your legs trap him.
"Wanna feel you til I fall asleep."
"Gonna get you pregnant like this." Spencer jokes.
"Mr genius didn't you say it's impossible."
"No I said it's a low possibility but not impossible."
You can't help but laugh.
"I'm sorry about waking you up. Sorry I'm messed up."
"Spencer, don't do that."
"Really don't know why you're with me and how you even fell in love with me when you met me at my worst and you still found good in me."
You look at him, and sadness washes over you, it is true you've met at his worst you were one of the few FBI agents who were not on the team that helped when Spencer was in jail. When the FBI didn't stand behind him, you were furious. Yeah, maybe you didn't know him personally, but you've heard about everything he'd done for the FBI, and you couldn't believe what assholes wouldn't help one of the best assets to the FBI.
"I have a thing for bad boys." It was now Spencers turn to laugh.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah, I kinda liked the unhinged Spencer he was hot."
"Well who says that he's gone."
Spencer smirks and you can tell he doesn't plan on letting you sleep any time soon.

જ⁀➴ — • on the flight back from a gruelling case, fatigue hits you much harder than you’d quite expected … <3 cw: canon typical refs, eg child murder, brief ref to blood — nothing else? pairing: aaron hotchner x f!reader xx
MAIN MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
As far as work went as a federal agent, most of the time it was hard. It came with the role, but today, somehow, you were so damn exhausted it actually hurt.
Every single part of you ached, every one of your bones seeming strained near to breaking. If it wasn’t for you going back now you thought you might’ve had your own breakdown, before long.
You’d been holed up in Boston for nearly six days altogether, and were only just now taking off. Fatigue was a physical weight, something ugly, that dragged down your mood and the others’ as well.
You all knew jobs like these always took their toll one way or another; you only hoped that the flight would allow for some recuperation — however brief it would be.
Because the truth? This case had been gruesome, even more than the ones you’d grown used to by now. With no less than eight child murders in just four days, the young unsub had been male, and a sadist.
He’d killed for pleasure alone but was finally caught — all thanks to you, and your team. You held on fast to that truth, even as you still hoped that he’d rot in that cell for his penance.
Ten minutes ago, when you’d first closed your eyes, you’d still seen the flash of that blood. So much of it. But now with just over under an hour left before landing, sleep tugged at your bones.
And was welcomed.
The report for this case would be written up once you arrived back to Quantico’s base, as Hotch had told you just fifteen minutes ago from beside you. You’d wanted to talk. They would be in your hands, these findings, and you wanted his thoughts, his unclouded judgement.
Something about the man just steadied you, though you couldn’t have voiced it aloud if you tried.
Conversation around you had dimmed, as though you were held underwater, suspended. Derek’s smooth voice sounded in laughter, while Reid spoke in quick and somewhat heated debate.
He was no doubt proving Morgan horribly wrong, and you registered a vague sense of pride. You loved your whole team, every one, and yet maybe just a little more for one certain agent …
Vacant, you let the thought slide. You barely even felt yourself falling asleep. Still, you could register the soft, cologned scent of that someone through your half-conscious mind.
You didn’t even feel as your head tipped, fell on to his — aaron’s — black-blazered shoulder. Everybody else saw it though, saw Hotch’s eyes snap from his papers to your face.
Impossibly, those tanned cheeks warmed. Colour stole up his neck — and Aaron Hotchner was blushing.
To be honest, he’d barely even been able to read the damn file, what with you beside him. It was a genuine caution to have you so close by his side when he was meant to be working.
Now though, his soft smile betrayed him. Just like always. Just for you.
“You good over there?” Of course, Morgan — all sly and smirking as he nodded at Hotch. His voice was quiet, also conscious not to wake you, but it carried enough suggestion in it nonetheless.
If he could, Aaron too would be sleeping — but your presence stirred him and kept him awake. you were so close, and his heart kicked into overdrive at the warm weight of your head on his arm.
The strands of your hair, so soft, fell across his chest just a little from your angle. Try as he might, Aaron couldn’t help but breathe in the smell of perfume, of shampoo.
God help him.
“All good.” His voice was steady as always, but clipped enough to send the message across. Don’t you start, was the unsaid warning, but his soft, gentle tone overrode any bite.
You felt safe enough to sleep on him. Comfortable enough to lean up on his arm.
Aaron ignored Derek’s jibe, knew how much it was apparent on this plane that he loved you. They all could see it, could feel it in how his demeanour had shifted, how your touch was what anchored him down.
He was so stoic, so good at his job that they often forgot he could be like this — not an agent but a man, just a man so in love with a woman that he’d be her reprieve, if he could.
They all knew how he felt for you, but they’d let him voice it in his own time. And while they teased, they also knew that you felt the same, too.
Neither one of you could face it quite yet.
Warmth spread in the arm with you on it, nerves firing to life underneath his clothed skin. He wanted to reach out and brush back a strand of your hair — but he didn’t. He didn’t.
Would not.
Instead, he shifted in his seat, aware that more eyes were now on him — all smiling. It was so rare to see Hotch this soft and they loved him more for it — for that vulnerable side.
That which you alone brought out of the agent. Through his soft spot only for you.
Aaron felt his own eyes pull down in exhaustion, but he fought to ensure they stayed open. He reread the same damn page at least five or six times before closing the file for good.
There was only about twenty minutes left anyway until landing. Until you would wake.
“Watch it,” he just muttered at Derek’s damn smirk, at even Spencer’s light, knowing eyes. Gideon, too, was hiding his smile with some effort, playing chess with young Reid.
Aaron knew he wouldn’t live this down anytime soon, not with the teasing colleagues he had. He remembered that thought, how it lingered, how he couldn’t even care about that fact in the moment.
For twenty minutes later instead found you both now asleep, him too lulled by the flight. Aaron’s head had tipped down onto yours, his cheek pressed close to your crown.
Soft spot, indeed.

Emily loves to nap in JJ's office. When a day runs long, she's bored of paperwork, she needs some quiet, or she just feels overwhelmed, she goes to JJ and asks if she can work with the other woman. JJ never says no.
Sometimes, Emily actually works. She'll sit on the other side of JJ's desk or spread her papers on the floor and do her best to focus. JJ usually works in silence, but sometimes she'll play music quietly. The sound fills the office and relaxes Emily.
There's an unspoken rule, however, that if Emily doesn't bring paperwork when she comes to see JJ, she's going to take a nap. At some point, JJ had found a couch for her office and crammed it into a corner. It's a little small and a little narrow, but Emily doesn't mind. She just curls up and sleeps.
For JJ's part, she loves Emily's company. She thinks she may get more work done when the other woman is there, even if Emily can be distracting. JJ finds her eyes straying from her paperwork to check on Emily as she sleeps. It's nice to feel trusted.
One day, Emily finds a stuffed black cat on the couch when she enters. It's the softest thing she's ever felt, and it's the perfect middle ground between firm and soft. She looks at JJ, wondering if it's a gift, but the other woman is on the phone, double checking a file, and not paying her any attention.
Emily falls asleep holding the bear. When her phone call ends, JJ snaps a picture on her cellphone, glad the other woman licked the present. JJ bought it at the airport the day before, taken by how much it looked like Sergio.
After that, JJ slowly adds more items to the couch. She leaves a pillow, a blanket knit by Penelope, and bottles of water. Emily always thanks her, but JJ just shrugs. She says it's for her own naps, but both women know she never sleeps.
Hotch learns about Emily's secret naps when he visits JJ's office unexpectedly to say they have a case. JJ is sitting on the couch with her feet propped up a desk chair. She's slowly making her way through case files and slowly combing Emily's hair. The black-haired woman is sleeping with her head in JJ's lap, feet hanging over the edge of the too-small couch. Penelope's blanket covers her haphazardly, she's cradling Sergio 2, and she looks more peaceful than he's ever seen her.
Regretfully, he disturbs them, but the next time they return to JJ's office, there's a new couch. It has an ottoman for JJ's feet, a small table for her files, and plenty of room for Emily's long legs. They take it as permission to continue what they're doing.

Dar+ling (Emily Prentiss x f!reader)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Emily Prentiss x fem!reader
Warnings: Nothing but an alarming amount of cuteness 🤭
Prompt: Person A finally confesses their feelings for B, who has wanted to do just the same for weeks
Summary: Emily finally gets the courage to confess their feelings to the reader, who has just wanted to do it too for a while.
Word Count: 1k
A/N: Doing this cute fic for @foxy-eva 's writing challenge 🥳🥳 congratulations for the 2k followers, I wish you lots of success for the future!!! (Btw this hasn't been beta'd lmao I literally wrote all of this on the Tumblr editor.......... 🫣)
Tumblr media
It had always been absolutely no secret to everyone that Emily and I have always been quite close for the past few years, always hanging out after work, chatting for hours and hours in the break room, sitting a bit too long on each other's desks, and the list goes on and on.
We've never gone much farther than that. Not because we didn't want to, just because we didn't really talk about everything, the feelings matter, if we like each other as friends or not... It just never came up. I guess we didn't really think about it.
I've never dared to cross the line, I don't want things to end up awkward because I like her and she doesn't. But, what if she likes me too? For all I know, she could do, I don't see why not.
But, I've never asked her.
I really want to, though. The words are standing on the tip of my tongue whenever it's just the two of us, they're waiting to be said but... I don't let them out. I keep telling myself that I'll do it next time, but 'next time' ends up being delayed and on and on.
I just wish I could confess to her. Then I'd probably feel much better and everything would be fine. I really wish I could do it already. It's been weeks since I've been wanting to tell her.
I always stare at Emily's desk whether she's there or not, I just love to memorize every trait of her face, all the time. I can still imagine her sitting there even though she hasn't arrived to work yet.
I always look forward for the sound of the elevator, each morning. It might be my favorite sound after the sound of her voice. Elevator sounds being my favorite is a bit weird, but I like it because after that her arrival always follows.
And just when I turn my head, the elevator tings, and Emily is there. Her eyes meet mine and I wave at her quicky before standing up to walk up to her.
"Well someone's happy to see me today." Emily says as she opens her arms to hug me. We always sway from left to right, it's our thing.
"As always." I respond as we pull apart from each other and automatically start to walk towards our respective desks, even though she never sits at her chair first. She always goes for my desk, and I sit on my chair and look up at her in all of her beauty.
Even though we've seen each other yesterday, it's like we haven't talked in years. We chat for at least 30 minutes before realizing it's been that long.
I notice that she's been acting slightly different though, as if something has been on her mind. I wonder what happened, if I should ask about it or not while we talk.
I look around and notice that others have started to arrive. We greet them and slightly chat with them, and I start to think that it would be probably better if we moved somewhere else more private to talk.
"Hey, uh... Do you wanna go get some coffee in the break room? I haven't had any this morning and I'm starting to crave caffeine." I chuckle, and she smiles. She smiles.
We both walk away from the desk to the thankfully empty room, and I start to open up the cabinet where mugs are kept.
"Here, your mug." I say as I grab it and hand it to her, before I grab my own and close the cabinet.
"I'll pour it for you, here." She says and I set down my mug on the counter as she pours coffee in it.
"That's kind of you, thanks."
"You're welcome." She responds, and our eyes meet, just for a few seconds, then probably a bit more. It's like it's just the two of us, in a bubble, for a moment. Then she starts to chuckle, out of nowhere. It usually happens when we stare into each other's eyes for too long, I guess it's a nervous reaction. I smile to myself as she pours coffee for herself and sets the pot back on the holder.
We just stand there in silence as we drink our coffees, and neither of us seem to mind. Silent moments are precious too sometimes, I like them. Just standing by her is enough for me.
"Hey, uh..." She starts to talk but stops, as if she hesitates.
"Yeah?" I look at her but she has trouble to look at me. She seems nervous. "Is something wrong?"
"No, nothing bad. It's just... I've... Been thinking about something lately."
"What have you been thinking about?" I ask as we both set our empty mugs on the counter.
"You?"
"Me? What about?" I start to smile, out of nervousness.
"About the fact that I love you." I can see her exhaling a big breath after she tells the words, as if a weight has been lifted off her, and I think that I feel it too.
"You... You love me?"
"Yeah. I do."
"Well, it kinda turns out I do too." I say with a smile and she instantly seems relieved.
"You have no idea how bad I wished you did too."
"And you have no idea how long I've wanted to do this. It's been... Weeks."
"It's been way too long."
"Yeah." I say, before looking behind me to see if anyone else is near, but no one is. I can hear chatting nearby, everyone is probably too busy talking.
"Why did you-" Emily starts to ask, but I cut her off by pressing my lips to hers, just for a few seconds, because someone might come.
"You'll kiss me back tonight. They'll start looking for us any time now." I say after I pull away.
Emily is breathless as she puts her hands on my arms and says, "I might kiss you before, I'm known to be bad at waiting."

A Horse With No Name • s.r
*✧・゚: *✧・゚*✧・゚: *✧・゚*✧・゚: *✧・゚*
inspired by this song and the jet scene at the end of episode 7 season 15!
content : fluff/pining lovers, friends in love - all that good stuff!
*✧・゚: *✧・゚*✧・゚: *✧・゚*✧・゚: *✧・゚*
Mindlessly bumping my foot against a very familiar Converse shoe underneath the jet table, almost out of instinct and comfort at this point - not even realizing I’m doing it till I feel the person across the table reciprocate the movements against my own comfortable and worn loafer. The movements of our feet mimicked the soft buzz of the jet engine, lifting my head sheepishly to look at the owner of the famous Converse, Spencer Reid.
Feeling the edges of my mouth immediately starting to lift up into a content smile once I met his gaze, suddenly getting swept into his irises that resemble rich honey pots; sticky and trapping my attention. I’m not sure how long I’ve been staring at the poor man sitting across from me, my heart thumping in my chest starting to feel all too similar to the engine sounds and the quiet thud of our shoes making contact. The one thing that breaks me out of my trance is my best friend himself, by awkwardly clearing his throat and raising his eyebrows in my direction.
I feel my cheeks immediately heat up and refocus my gaze on the book that sits comfortably in his hands - I never knew it was possible to envy an inanimate object so much, until all these years I’ve had to watch Reid carry these books with the utmost care, love and respect. Watching the way he caresses the spine and lightly traces the pages till he can envision the words in his mind without sneaking a second glance at the pages. Is it normal to be jealous of a book? I could only compare it to the world playing a cruel trick on me, everytime I watched Reid pick up a book from his satchel, the book mocking me in a way, gloating to me and how badly I could be the thing that Reid would carry with the same care and love, the exact way I wish I could carry and hold him.
After realizing my downfall, that is once again, staring at my best friend for an uncomfortable amount of time, I try to divert my attention back to the song playing in my ears and attempting to untangle my foot from his ankle. This seemed to become a ritual between us, sitting in the back of the jet away from the others, he would read whichever book had stolen his attention that day and I would sit and listen to music whilst stealing painful glances at my best friend.
“On the first part of the journey
I was looking at all the life
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings”
Trying to play my staring off as casually as possible, I started to flicker my eyes between the jet window and the suddenly very interesting table top, sitting between us and putting a very unwanted distance between us (at least on my part). I watched the clouds and the shades of blue and gray throughout the sky, feeling suspended in time and wishing I could always feel like this. I was soon broken from my train of thoughts by Reid’s fingers dancing across the table and into my eyeline, grasping for my attention. Eagerly lifting my head up and looking into his eyes with a flat smile, I removed one of my headphones and spoke in a voice that was only reserved for him, soft and full of adoration even if he didn’t realize.
“Yes, Reid? What can I do for you?”
He returned my smile and started speaking in a soft and quiet voice - a voice that I would listen to for the rest of my life instead of all the music in the world, “You seem quite lost in your thoughts today, care to share what’s on your mind?”. I had to bite my tongue there and then, the more rational part of my brain telling me that this isn’t him inviting me to spill my undying love for him that seems to fill my lungs every time I’m within his reach. Raising my eyebrows at his statement and giving him a soft reassuring shrug and gazing back out of the jet window “I’m just thinking... how different my life would be in a parallel universe and what I would be doing instead of being sat here” - It wasn’t a lie, it was something that circled my mind frequently, I just hoped that no matter what universe I was in, Reid would be sat across from me in the same way he is now.
He continued to gaze at me as I spoke, I watched as the corners of his mouth started to move upwards into an amused smile and he raised his eyebrows again and nodded for me to continue with sharing my train of thought. I looked down at the hands fidgeting in my lap and looked back at him, not wanting to spend a second longer not looking at him and I continued “Have you ever thought about it? In a different life, what would you be doing if you weren’t an FBI agent?”
His smile became more pronounced and a soft shade of pink crept onto his cheeks as he ever so carefully closed his book and moved it to the side, glancing over his shoulder as if he was going to reveal his deepest secret and he looked back at me and I swore for a second, his eyes reflected the same adoration that swims in my eyes whenever he enters my vision. He nodded, “You promise not to laugh?” It still amazed me how this man thought that his words and thoughts, even the silly and immature ones, were nothing but close to biblical scriptures and the only thing here that resembled anything of a joke was my undying love for the very oblivious man sitting across from me. All I could think to do without letting those thoughts slip off my tongue was an awkward encouraging smile and leaning forward to make sure I didn’t miss his next words.
“A cowboy...” he said in a soft voice whilst avoiding my gaze and all I could think of was the nervous and fumbling Spencer Reid I had met, back when he wore glasses and his hair slicked back. I echoed his words in a voice just as soft and I waited for further explanation.
“Mhm, you know.. I’d have some horses, a few cattle and be surrounded by nature” His face and posture suddenly relaxed as he put the idea into our current universe, I could only look on at him in fascination and pray to a God somewhere, that in his western world I could exist. Wanting to get more of an insight into his mind - “What would you do with cattle?” and if I thought his voice was the most melodic sound to my ears, the light chuckle that bounced from him soon became the most beautiful thing to fall upon my ears “I don’t know, look at ‘em, pet ‘em. I hadn’t really thought about that but I’ll figure it out.”
The only thing that made this conversation better besides his voice, was the song playing in my right ear as he spoke -
“I've been through the desert on a horse with no name It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can't remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain”
I immediately perked up and quickly motioned for him to take the seat next to me and pushed the words at such a fast pace I’m surprised he registered them “Oh my gosh Reid, you have to come and listen to this song!’ The look of confusion washed over his face as he clearly thought I’d abandoned his idea of a peaceful life but it was far from that. As he fidgeted around to get comfortable, our shoulders, arms and thighs brushed together and it felt more like home than ever before. I reached over and placed a headphone into his ear and left my hand suspended in the ear, my body and heart begging to let the rational side of my brain brush my hand against his cheek and hair but I painfully pulled away and watched his reaction to the lyrics.
“You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can't remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain”
His face broke out into a smile and a soft laugh ricocheted from his chest and the familiar tinge of pink radiated on the soft skin of his cheeks and the tips of his ear. He gave a slight content hum and gazed down at my fidgeting hands in my lap. He reached over and enveloped one into one of his own - and they fitted together like pages being bound to a book. As always in the presence of Spencer, I was proven wrong because the light brushing of our thighs felt like home but the feeling of my hand enveloped in his, made me realize that’s what home actually felt like and I never wanted it to end. He leaned in closer to my ear and softly whispered amongst the tune of the song playing ‘’And you would be there, with me and the horses and the cattles of course...” the words trailed off but I heard them and I thought my rib cage would give way to the thumping of my heart in that exact moment and all I could muster back “Me? I would be there?” and all Spencer could do was shake his head and another soft laugh. As he peered past me and out of the window and into the clouds as if he was imagining this ranch lifestyle, with me, the cattle and the cows.
“Of course you would be there, I wouldn’t want any other life if you weren’t there...” and that confession was all I needed to finally come to an understanding that no matter what universe we were in, whether it was the one where we were sat on the jet or on a ranch, Spencer would always my heart and I would too always have a piece of his.

a special gift
Tumblr media
spencer reid x fem! reader
summary ;
a gift for the birthday boy!! happy 41 spence <3
warnings ;
smut
You were close, way too close. Clenching, heavy breathes, slowing movements, he knew this as well. “You gonna cum for me?” The soft traces of his lips danced delicately on your skin, peppered kisses wrapped around the neck, you bit your lip, eyes fluttered shut and your toes curled at the feeling that tranced your whole body.
A single gasp was all that you needed to let loose before you were collapsing against Spencer. Chest against chest, face buried into the warm flesh of his neck, you were burning. The churning in the depths of your stomach were ablaze, the last coil snapped and you were on fire. “Fuck! Oh — I’m cumming, I’m cu-“
Nails racked softly in his hair, grabbing onto the locks when small bursts of your orgasm hit. A gasp here and there, you breathed in his sweat in every sharp inhale, damp babyhairs stick to your flushed face, humidity hit you instantly and all you could feel was Spencer’s calloused fingertips feathering on your spine, coaxing you, overstimulating — And you loved every second of this bliss.
A few more mummers slipped from Spencer’s lips before he let go. A slight arch in his back with eyes fluttering shut. A sight to admire.
“Happy Birthday, Spence.”

Aaron Hotchner x Emily Prentiss
summary: following a surprisingly emotional case for the usually well-tempered boss, hotch seeks out comfort in his favorite dark-haired agent, which obviously leads to a confession or two.
wc: 2335
warnings: none (?)
a/n: alternate ending to 7x10 the bittersweet science (the bloodlusting boxer). first fic i have written in two years pls be nice feedback is so appreciated xox enjoy!!
Any case involving kids is tough on the team, especially those who have one of their own. Factor in a young boy dying, however, and that’s enough to make move the usually stoic Aaron Hotchner to tears.
Which is exactly what was happening in that hospital room, Hotch having brought unsub Jimmy Hall to spend his last moments with his son. Standing far back enough to give the family some privacy, but still keeping an eye on the suspect of course, Hotch did his best to ignore the heartbreaking scene in front of him.
“You fought a hell of a fight, Ryan,” Hall spoke through sobs, his ex-wife a mess on the opposite side of the bed. Hotch felt it then, a salty droplet staining his face, and another one trickling to the floor. His expression never changed, however, doing as much as he could to maintain his professional look.
Emily and Rossi had met Hotch and Spencer at the hospital after learning of the outcome of Hall’s match, citing their presence as a second duo to help escort the unsub back to the precinct. In reality, Emily’s brain had gone on autopilot, creating such an excuse to mask her real reason for coming. She knew what Hotch would be feeling in those moments in that room, and she couldn’t bear for him to deal with it alone, if he even did at all.
Rossi didn’t mind this, of course. He always sensed the romantic tension between the two since his first day back in the unit, him and the other 5 team members having a bet going on how long it would take for the spark to finally be ignited. So, when he and Emily reached Spencer in the hallway outside of the Hall room, the three agents lined up against the wall.
Spencer made a bit of small talk about the case that had now begun the closing process, but in all honesty, Emily didn’t hear a word that was said. Her eyes were fixated on the man opposite the small pane of glass, his emotionless expression unwavering.
The three of them heard the unwelcome tone of the monitor flatlining, looking amongst each other solemnly. Minutes later, the door was opening as Hotch wheeled the unsub out of the room. Wordlessly, Rossi took the chair from the other man and begun leading him towards his own room, while Spencer brought his ex-wife in the opposite direction to console here. Aaron replaced Spencer’s position next to Emily on the wall, his eyes fixating on a painting across from the two of them.
“Rossi said he would take care of all the paperwork at the precinct and close up,” Emily spoke, turning to look at the man next to her. If she looked close enough, she could see the faint tear stain on his left cheek. “Let’s go back to the hotel, I’ll drive.”
Aaron nodded, wordlessly beginning to walk with Emily towards where she had left the car just hours before. Their hands found each other as soon as the hospital door closed, making both of their heart rates jump ever so slightly, though both would just chalk it up to the events of the night.
Aaron, ever the gentleman, opened the driver’s side door for Emily before slipping into the seat beside her. He wasn’t surprised by the blush creeping up her cheeks, he noticed it the first time he made the same gesture all those years ago. She turned on the car and begun the short drive back to their hotel. Classical music quietly played through the car radio, and Emily often turned to look at Hotch. She would see him staring out the window each time, but that’s because she was focused on the road each time he would steal a glance.
Soon enough, the pair arrived at the hotel, making their way to the elevator. The ride to the 12th floor was short, but felt like eternity for the two of them. Both lost in their own thoughts about love and life and death, neither noticed how close the other was until their arms brushed against each other. Aaron turned to Emily and looked down at her, a ghost of a smile on his face. A sad smile, but one nonetheless. She looked up, and he could sense the concern in her eyes.
“Thank you for the ride back, Prentiss,” he said softly, his brain itching to brush the fallen piece of hair behind her ear.
“You don’t have to thank me, Hotch,” Emily laughed quietly. “That’s what teammates are for.” She immediately had to hold back a wince at her word choice, knowing damn well she just friendzoned her boss. Then again, she didn’t feel as if this was the time or place to confess to feelings she’d been harboring for nearly five years. “Will you be alright tonight?” She asked to change the subject, out of concern for both her dignity and her boss’ mental state.
“I always am, Prentiss,” Hotch spoke as the elevator came to a stop. The two walked down the same hallway, Emily stopping at her door first. “Goodnight, Emily. Get some rest,” Aaron said softly, his hand brushing against Emily’s back in a way that toed the line of professionalism.
Emily did her best to not freeze at the touch of her boss in what some would consider to be quite a sensual spot. “Thank you, you too,” she managed to get out in a relatively normal tone. “Goodnight, Aaron.” Hotch gave Emily a nod before retreating to his own room, just a few doors down.
The first thing Emily did when entering her room for the night was turn the shower on and dig through her go-bag for the most comfortable clothing she could find. Hopping into the shower, she let the near-boiling water run over her skin as if she was trying to cook away the details of this case. After standing in the shower for what very well could’ve been over an hour, she stepped out and put on her clothes. She was just about to get into bed when there was a knock at her door. Assuming it would be JJ, she didn’t bother throwing on a hoodie before opening the door.
That felt like a mistake to her when she found Aaron opposite the door frame. It felt even worse when she became painfully aware that his eyes were briefly on her low cut, extremely cropped red tank top, which left hardly anything to imagination. And then she watched his eyes make their way to her low-rise sweatpants. Truly she could never feel more embarrassed than in that moment.
“Is everything alright?” Emily asked as she brought her arms up to her chest, itching to draw attention away from her. “Do we have another case?”
“No, no new case,” Hotch spoke quietly, meeting Emily’s gaze. “Do you mind if I just come in for a bit?” He looked away, almost embarrassed to be seeking out company from his subordinate at such an hour. Emily didn’t see it that way, of course, mainly because she could feel the emotions radiating off of Aaron.
“Of course you can,” she smiled and moved out of the way to let the older man in. Shutting the door, they both moved to sit on the edge of the king-sized bed. The pair sat in silence, but it was comfortable - neither felt any pressure to speak like they would if they were in the presence of anyone else. After a while, however, Emily wanted to say something, she just didn’t know what. She turned to look at the man next to her, who she found staring at the wall as tears slowly fell. “Oh, Aaron,” she sighed, putting her hand to his face and turning him to look at her. Her heart damn near broke at seeing him in such pain, the feeling reminiscent of when she had been there for him after he had lost Haley. She pulled him into a hug instinctively, his head seeking solace on her chest as she rubbed soothing circles into his skin. Neither were aware of the eroticism behind the position in that moment, both focused on the hurt and comforting in the present.
“I have no idea why this is affecting me so deeply,” Aaron laughed. “It’s not funny,” he added after seeing the woman’s puzzled look at his chuckle. “I usually have no true emotional reaction when cases involve kids, or the kids of unsubs, but this time I did and I can’t figure out why.”
His hands felt around until it found hers once again, the two of them grasping at each other like it was a lifeline.
“I think it’s because you saw that boy dying and it triggered you to think about what could’ve happened that day,” Emily said, looking at Aaron as he wiped a tear from his face. She didn’t have to specify what day or who could’ve died, they both knew what she meant.
“Doesn’t help that Dave’s been up my ass about dating too,” Aaron added, grabbing Emily’s attention even more. She couldn’t possibly figure out how that had to do with the idea of Jack dying. “He’s been pushing me to date since it’s been almost two years since Haley died, and I think you’re right, the details of this case must have triggered something in me.”
”Grief hits us in the least expecting places,” Emily commented.
“That it does,” Aaron agreed, turning his gaze back to the way. Emily did the same, and the two were silent again for a while.
“Rossi’s right though,” Emily said after a while, eyes staring at the same spot on the wall as the man next to her. “You probably should start dating again.”
“I’ve already had my eye on someone for a while,” Aaron said softly. This time it was him turning to look at the younger woman, using his hand to bring her head towards him before she even had a chance to react to his words. “And I know she’s been doing the same.”
“Really?” Emily asked, feigning innocence. “How do you know she’s into you?”
”There’s a reason they made me the leader of this team,” Aaron said, the insinuation that Emily doubted his ever so present profiling skills making her blush. “But in all honesty, she’s always there when I need her most, even if I don’t realize it myself at the time.” Emily smiled softly at that moment, her cheeks nearly burning as she used her free hand to fiddle with the waistband of her pants. “Plus, she loves to wear a certain red tank top on days when I have a perfect view,” Aaron added, making Emily laugh. His face moved closer to hers, as if asking for permission. Emily nodded and not a moment later, his lips were on hers, encapsulating them in a soft yet passionate kiss.
They broke apart after a while, when it got to the point when air became necessary. “Thank you,” Aaron smiled at her, wrapping his arms around Emily.
“For kissing you?” Emily joked softly. “I’m kidding, I know what you meant,” she added, pulling him into a hug. “I will always be there for you, no matter what.” Her hands ran through his hair, his making their way to the small of her back. “Would you like to stay the night?” She asked. Realizing how suggestive that sounded, especially after the past few minutes, she added quickly, “That way you don’t have to be alone tonight.”
“I’d like that, thank you, Em,” Aaron smiled. The two broke away, climbing under the covers. Their bodies drew to each other like magnets do to metals, reaching for each other until it was impossible to move any further.
“Is that really what gave it away?” Emily asked, moving her head into his chest as the two settled down for the night. “The red tank top?”
”Sort of, but it’s not what really confirmed my thoughts.”
“Well, what was it then?” Emily asked, wanting to know her tell.
”You called me Aaron today,” he said, planting a kiss to her temple. “Twice actually. You hadn’t done that since you found me in the hospital after Foyet got to me, and then again after Haley. And it slips out sometimes when we’re in private.”
”Oh,” Emily said sheepishly, a smile creeping up her face. “I guess I didn’t really try too hard to keep it professional.”
”Oh I didn’t mind one bit,” Aaron laughed, putting his arm around his girl, feeling her breathing even out as they both drifted to sleep.
***
”So, have you taken my advice?” Rossi asked, sitting across from Hotch on the jet. With the case closed and nothing but paperwork to look forward to at the office, the team resorted to their favorite pastime of gossiping. Today’s topic of conversation seemed to have focused itself on the boss man’s dating life, as it so happened to be recently.
“You’ll be happy to know I have a date on Friday,” Aaron said simply, his attention not leaving his paperwork. Emily’s attention was piqued, however, her eyes raising up from her book.
“Atta boy Hotch!” Morgan said excitedly, clapping Aaron’s back from the next seat over. “Who’s the lucky lady?”
“You hardly know her,” Aaron commented, eliciting a scoff from a certain blonde across the table.
“I saw what room you went into last night,” JJ said, causing eyes to fall on the only other woman on the jet.
“That was for work business only!” Emily exclaimed. It technically wasn’t a lie, he had come in to discuss the feelings regarding the case.
“Em, I saw him leave your room late this morning when I came back from the gym,” JJ said, eliciting a blush from the raven haired woman as she nudged her.
“Aw man!” Morgan yelled, drawing the attention to himself. “Penelope owes me 50 bucks!”

Shit. Shit. Shit. You’re so late. You can’t be late for your first day of college. You had a bit too much to drink last night which caused you to sleep in longer than you wanted to. You’re so late that you didn’t have time to do your makeup. Eh, you can do it when you get to school. The drive is only thirty minutes but with morning traffic, it takes forty-five.
Meet me in the bathroom by the cafeteria! Emergency! You send to your best friend.
You rush from your car all the way to the bathroom before anyone else has a chance to see how messed up you look. You have everything you need in your backpack to fix your look, and you almost cringe at yourself when you look in the mirror.
“Man, I need to stop drinking,” you shake your head.
You take out your brush and comb your hair when Madison walks in.
“Y/N?”
“Over here.”
“Are you okay? What happened?”
“I woke up late. I didn’t have time to do my makeup. I need to use yours.”
“You texted me this is an emergency. I blew off Jason just to come here.”
“Mads, this is an emergency. Look at me. I can’t go to class looking like this. I still have pimples on my face. Can I use your makeup or not?”
“Of course.” She sets her backpack on the counter and takes out the massive bag containing everything she needs for a full face of makeup. It’s a damn good thing you’re the exact shade as her. “Why’d you wake up late?”
“I was out late last night.”
“And?”
“Why does there have to be an and?”
“Bitch, I know you.”
“I had too much to drink,” you sigh.
“There it is,” she laughs. “Who’d you do?”
“Why does there have to be a guy?” you chuckle and look at her. She raises an eyebrow as if you could actually fool her. “Okay, I don’t know his name. I was too busy making out with him to ask.”
“Do tell,” she smirks. You grab an elastic and put your hair up to have it out of the way while you do your makeup. She gasps when she sees the dark purple marks on your neck. “What the fuck are those?”
“So, they’re noticeable?”
“Noticeable? It looks like he was trying to suck your blood. God damn.”
“Mads, when I tell you this man was so fine, I mean it. I thought he was shy and awkward because he had that look about him, but he was the complete opposite. He took me to the back where the bathrooms were and had his way with me. God, he was so big,” you gasp.
“Tell me you got his number.”
“His friends came and got him before we could say anything. I don’t even know his name. I had to go home and put my vibrator to good use even after the orgasms he gave me.”
“Okay, new mission in life, find that man. It’s been a while since you let someone ruffle your feathers.”
“Yeah,” you chuckle.
You grab what you need and cover your marks as much as you can. They’re so dark that the foundation can’t cover it completely, but with your hair down, it’s manageable. Once you feel like you can walk out in public, you hand everything back to her.
“Okay, we’re good to go. Thank you.”
“Anytime,” she winks.
You take one look at yourself and remember what it was like to have his hands on your body.
You’ve never done this with a stranger before. Sure, you’ve had public sex before but nothing like this. None of your flings had this much passion. You’ve only met this man not even an hour ago and his tongue is down your throat.
There is a family bathroom next to the men’s and women’s restrooms, so he shoves you into that one and locks the door behind him. He grabs your hips and lifts you so that you can wrap your legs around his slender waist. He shoves his hand between your legs as his lips trail down your neck.
“You are one fine specimen, and I'm not saying that because I'm drunk,” you moan.
All you can focus on is the way his fingers are rubbing on your clothed clit and how his lips are sucking on your neck.
“Y/N!” You snap out of your trance and look at her. “We’re going to be late. Come on.”
“Right.”
You two leave the bathroom and head in the direction of your first class, Criminal Justice 101.
“Tell me what he looks like. It’ll help me try to find him.”
“Curly brown hair, brown eyes, very tall, slim build, and he was wearing a sweater vest. Not what you’d think he’d be like. He knew what he was doing, that’s for sure,” you chuckle. “I don’t know anything about him.”
“You just know what his tongue and cock feels like.”
“Madison!” You look away once and run into someone who is reading a book. “Watch where you’re going.”
“That is no way to speak to a professor, young lady.”
You look back and see the Dean of the school escorting one of the new professors. You lock eyes with the new professor with wide eyes. He’s the man you fucked last night. He recognizes you but doesn’t say anything about it. Madison can guess what happened based on how you’re looking at him.
“Sorry,” you mumble.
“No, it was my fault,” he chuckles.
“Come, Dr. Reid. I’ll show you to Criminal Justice 101.”
“Wait, you’re teaching that class?” you ask, stopping the two men from leaving.
“Yeah.”
Madison grabs your shoulders and grins at Dr. Reid.
“Lucky for us, we’re your students.”
“Can’t wait,” he chuckles.
The Dean leaves expecting Dr. Reid to follow but the young doctor leans closer to you so you’re the only one who hears him.
“It’s a shame you covered them up. I’ll just have to make more.”
Your mouth drops open as he jogs to catch up with the Dean. You’re totally fucked. It’ll make class more interesting though.

Lean on Me
Summary: Spencer is feeling under the weather and tooth-rotting fluff is the only thing I can think about
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Reader
Category: fluff
TW/CW: brief mention of Diana Reid’s illness, implied/referenced opioid addiction
Word Count: 1.6k
This work is part of the series Spencer Reid, my beloved
The following work is my entry for @imagining-in-the-margins CM Comfort Fic Challenge
Tumblr media
You turned the tv off and stretched your neck, muffling a yawn with the back of your hand. The cadenced tapping of light raindrops on the window echoed in the living room and you could hear the distant splashing of wheels, together with the occasional sirens and honking in the streets.
Spencer had been fast asleep on the opposite corner of his couch for almost an hour, his chest rising at a regular pace. Six days without seeing each other and all he’d seemed interested in was having dinner and watching Doctor Who at a reasonable distance from you, ruling out any possibility of physical interaction.
Sometimes you got worried that you two becoming an item forced him to de-prioritize his needs in order to favor your own, when the only thing he craved after a long and stressful week at work was to be left alone, surrounded by his books; you pictured him rambling about random topics even in his dreams and waking him up was the last thing you wanted to do.
“Spencer… I think you should go to bed,” you whispered.
He rubbed his eyes and straightened himself up to check the wristwatch he wore over the left sleeve. “So soon? We’re not even halfway through the serial.”
“Sorry to break it to you but you missed everything after the first episode. You were basically snoring,” you informed him as you tucked a lock of hair behind his ear.
Spencer’s mouth turned into a perfect round shape once the realization sank in. “I didn’t mean to.”
“Oh no, you would never do that to Tom Baker,” you smiled.
Drowsy Dr. Reid was one of the cutest things you’d ever seen, though you caught a sudden grimace on his face. “What’s wrong?”
His temples were beaded with tiny droplets of sweat, a detail you hadn’t noticed before because of the dimmed lights; Spencer winced and wrinkled his nose, as he often did to express various degrees of discomfort. “I’m fine.”
“Youre paler than usual. Are you sure you’re not running a fever?”
“It’s nothing serious,” he answered in a rush while he jumped to his feet to avoid you touching his forehead, only to shrug a few seconds later as a silent confession he wasn’t fine at all.
“Nothing serious, uh-huh… interesting choice of words for a genius who can drop ‘sesquipedalian’ in a casual conversation ”
Spencer gave you an enthusiastic look. “Have you ever thought about the fact that ‘sesquipedalian’ is inherently sesquipedalian? It’s kinda funny,” he laughed nervously, but at the sight of your eyebrow raised in a disapproving frown he sighed.
“I’m incredibly tired and my head hurts. It’s a physiological effect caused by the release of cytokines, a category of small proteins involved in the promotion of the inflammatory response. A textbook example of a rhinovirus infection.”
All the pieces of the puzzle seemed to fall into place and you stood up to tug at the unbuttoned bands of his knitted cardigan. “Is that why you’ve been acting all distant tonight?”
“I should have canceled our plans,” he nodded, making his curls bounce in the process, “when I realized I was coming down with a cold I—”
His skin felt slightly hot when you locked your fingers behind his neck. “Maybe this can help you feel a little bit better.”
You pressed your body against his while you rubbed the tip of your noses together, waiting for him to wrap his arms around your waist; when you pulled him closer he welcomed your kiss with an ecstatic moan, even though he sighed soon after in a non-verbal attempt to manifest some concern.
“Not to put a damper on this moment but person-to-person contact is such a bad idea,” he pointed out in a soft tone, still holding you tight.
“What happened to ‘safer than a handshake’?” you joked while his stubble tickled your cheek, and it was his turn to raise his eyebrows in disapproval.
“It’s not if I’m sick!”
“Then I want you to go to bed. Now,” you replied.
You didn’t require advanced profiling skills to tell that expert in all-things nerdy Spencer Reid falling asleep in front of his favorite Doctor was the perfect indication he was literally exhausted, yet he shook his head again.
“When I was a kid my mom tucked me in and let me watch my favorite movie if I wasn’t feeling well,” he mumbled, “but after she started having her episodes more and more often I…” he paused and lowered his head - the weight of those memories still heavy on his heart. Despite his height he always appeared tiny and vulnerable at the mere mention of his mother’s illness.
“I was always afraid something bad would happen if I slept too much.”
You squeezed him so hard the buckle of his belt hurt your belly and you nipped at his neck, your own personal fight or flight response to any situation involving his family issues; he’d grown so used to his position as a caregiver for Diana he struggled to accept the idea she wasn’t the only one who deserved to feel protected and cared for.
“How about I stay a little longer? I’ll make you a cup of tea,” you proposed, and he looked at you flashing his best doe-eyed, innocent stare.
“With honey?”
You would have served him tea with a cupcake made of moonbeams and sprinkled with starlight, if it were possible; you kissed him a second time, which prompted him to giggle before he reluctantly let go of you.
You walked into the kitchen and filled a small pot with water, then you prepared a mug on the kitchen counter dropping a rustic-looking muslin bag inside. Bless Penelope and her latest birthday present - a square tin box decorated with vintage-style flowers and filled to the brim with a blend of green tea, cocoa bean husks, spices and vanilla.
She would have never admitted the tea was a bland attempt to reduce Spencer’s daily caffeine intake, claiming the pièce de résistance was the very Garcia-ish container, and you were glad she was the sweetest, bubbliest and smartest best friend he could have ever hoped for.
“You haven’t changed your mind about Ten, right?” Spencer’s voice echoed through the walls and you let out an outraged gasp.
“I hope that wasn’t an honest question,” you shrieked while you scooped a generous amount of honey out of the jar. “He’s the best. End of discussion.”
The two of you had been arguing for months about each other’s preferences and all the same he was still clueless as to why you were such a fan of the tenth incarnation in particular. “I mean, it’s just… what is it about him, exactly?! He—”
“He’s very smart and funny, wears glasses and Converse are his trademark?” you completed his sentence coming back into the living room and he began fiddling with the remote, a perplexed expression on his face. Running a fever was slowing down his reaction time, so you clarified. “I guess I have a type.”
Instead of coming up with a brilliant remark he pressed the play button, in a not so subtle attempt to hide the embarrassing rush of blood to his cheeks as you offered him the hot drink and sat beside him on the couch.
“Thanks,” he managed to say before he erupted into a bad coughing fit.
You stroked his back and waited for his breathing to return to normal; you refrained from suggesting over-the-counter or prescribed medications as a helpful remedy to get temporary relief, due to the percentage of alcohol and codeine contained in a good number of cold syrups.
“Sounds like you’re getting worse.”
He carefully sipped his tea. “Common cold symptoms last for five days, on average. I’ll be okay, I don’t want you to worry,” he said and raised his wonderful hazel eyes to stare right into your soul.
“I’m not worried, I am…” you faltered, unable to hide the truth from him, “... reasonably anxious?!”
You bit your lips when Spencer caressed your knee, fighting the strong desire to grab him by his tie and guide his mouth over yours. Luckily the DVD player came to the rescue and the famous music theme distracted you, while the main menu kept appearing on screen; you took the mug from him and put it on the coffee table, and once you got hold of the remote you patted on your legs.
He accepted your invitation to use them as a pillow, since there wasn’t one available, snuggling up against you - his back resting on your chest, his hand raised to support his chin. You scrolled through the title list and even if you couldn't really see him you knew he was smiling, because he had indeed switched the previous disk with another one.
You selected the first episode and let your fingertips play with Spencer’s tousled curls, revelling for a few seconds in the thought of ripping his clothes off to commit unmentionable acts of sinful nature; by the time the Adipose mothership arrived on Earth he was out, and you resigned yourself to a restless night in the company of the Tenth Doctor.
You envied people who could fall asleep effortlessly even if they were miles away from home. As a creature of habit you found the smallest changes to be upsetting, and staying at a friend’s place or a hotel for you often translated into hours of tossing and turning.
Nevertheless (and much to your surprise) a new sense of security came from the body weight and warmth of the man you were cradling in your lap: the semi-darkness in his apartment made it resemble a painting by Wilfred Jenkins, and before you drifted into a serene slumber you realized that the overall atmosphere felt soothing and intimate.
And that you were irremediably in love with Spencer Reid.

“Do you know it costs about a thousand dollars just for them to shoot your sperm up my vagina?” you had your legs kicked up on Spencer’s lap, laying on his couch, “And the success rate is only 15.8% for women under 35. I’ll be broke before I get pregnant.”
“I don’t mind paying,” Spencer offered.
“No, I’m paying. It’s the least I can do after roping you into this situation. I’m just saying it seems a little ridiculous to spend so much on something most people could just do for free,” you continued to skim the pamphlet.
“Whatever you’re comfortable with,” Spencer hummed.
“What do you mean ‘whatever I’m comfortable with’?” you glanced up at him, his eyes still reading his third daily newspaper of the day.
“I’m saying I’ll do whatever. If you don’t want to pay, I’m happy to try the old-fashioned way,” Spencer spoke like it wasn’t a big deal.
“You want us?” you motioned back and forth between the two of you, “to have sex?”
“I mean I’m trying to save you some money here. Unless you prefer that I come in a red solo cup and shoot it up you with a turkey baster,” Spencer chuckled.
“I’ll think about it,” is all you could say, picking up your pamphlet again.
“Okay, just let me know” Spencer flipped the page, “No rush.”
“Well actually, yes rush because I only have about 8 good eggs left,” you retorted.
Spencer checked his watch, “Just an FYI, your ovulation started last night and lasts roughly 24 hours.”
You slammed the pamphlet shut, “Okay, I’ve thought about it. Put a baby in me, Spencer Reid.”
-
And so it began. In storage closets at work. At your apartment. In hotel rooms during cases. And once in a back alley behind a bar.
You thought it would be awkward to be having lots of sex with your best friend but it truly wasn’t. The leap didn’t feel so drastic when you had already spent most of your time together before.
The team seemed to be none the wiser because how could they have predicted that you guys were secretly trying for a baby.
You would take a pregnancy test every Friday night, hoping it would display two prominent lines on the stick.
“Nope,” you flipped over the stick, showing Spencer the single line.
“Test again,” Spencer handed you another box, “This is going to sound weird but last time when we tried that new thing, I just feel like I got you pregnant.”
“Okay, whatever floats your boat,” you began to chug water in order to be able to test again.
You peed on the stick again, Spencer set a timer, and you waited.
Once it beeped, you gestured him towards the stick.
“You look, Mr. I feel like I got you pregnant.”
“1…2…3,” Spencer flipped it over and his face went pale, “Pregnant,” he murmured.
“Let me see,” you took the stick from him and sure enough, there were two lines, “Well, what does this mean? We’ve got one positive and one negative.”
“False negatives are more common than false positives,” Spencer was grinning, “Try one more test.”
When it came up positive again, you screamed, “Oh my god, Spence!”
You both immediately started crying happy tears.
“We’ve having a kid,” you sobbed into his chest.
“Oh my god, we’re having a kid,” Spencer worried.
-
“Y/N, we’re going to the bar tonight and you can’t say no,” Penelope entered the bullpen right at 5.
“Ummmm,” you turned towards Spencer, looking for an excuse.
“Y/N is actually watching a five hour long Russian film with me tonight. I already bought the tickets and they’re nonrefundable. Anyone is welcome to join though,” he quickly stepped in.
“Sorry, boy wonder. Not the night of fun I had planned. Let’s go, Emily and Derek.”
As soon as they left, you turned to Spencer once again.
“Okay so what are our actual plans for the night?” you asked.
“I’ll leave that up to you but I was thinking takeout and a movie,” he replied.
“Sounds delightful,” you hummed.
-
“A rom-com and Chinese food is pretty much my perfect night,” you sighed as you set the empty lo mein carton down on the coffee table.”
“Pretty much?” Spencer questioned, “I’m intrigued.”
“Well there’s just one other thing that the pregnancy has been making want lately but I’ll settle for an almost perfect night,” you laughed it off.
“I won’t accept nothing but the best for you. Name it. I’ll go get it right now,” Spencer was standing to get his coat and keys.
“Spence, don’t worry about it. It’s not something you go buy at a store anyways.”
“Well now I’m really intrigued,” he sat back down.
You rolled your eyes, he wasn’t going to let this go. That stupid, beautiful brain of his, having to know everything about everything.
“So the pregnancy has made me very hormonal,” you started, “So I’ve been feeling a lot more…lustful recently.”
“You’re horny?” Spencer put it plainly.
“So eloquently put, Spence,” you replied sarcastically.
“Well, why didn’t you just say so? I’m happy to help. It’s nothing we haven’t done before,” he stated.
“But that was for a purpose,” you explained.
“And this is for a purpose too,” he responded, “Co-parenting begins with helping the mother of my child with all her needs.”
“This isn’t exactly a need,” you retorted.
“Fine, we don’t have to have sex. It was just an offer,” he backed off.
“I never said I didn’t want to,” you responded.
By the look in Spencer’s eyes, you could tell you were in for a long night.
You managed to get three rounds in over the course of the night before you both were called away on a case by Hotch.
-
It was 3 a.m. when you quickly ripped yourself out from underneath the covers and stumbled to the hotel bathroom with your hand clasped over your mouth.
You had only gotten to the hotel about an hour ago after working for about twenty hours straight. There was a serial killer on the loose, kidnapping women at an alarming rate so there was no time to waste.
You made it to the toilet bowl just in time and fell back against the cool bathroom tile, curling into fetal position.
“Are you alright?” Spencer whispered from the doorway.
“Just some very early morning sickness,” you groaned softly.
Spencer sat himself on the floor beside you, gently picking up your head and placing it in his lap. He combed his fingers through your hair.
“Do you want to get up from the floor?” he whispered after a few minutes.
“Mmmh,” you just snuggled yourself further into his lap.
You felt Spencer’s hands wrap under your legs and back, “You’ll be more comfortable in bed.”
He lifted you slowly and carried you back to your bed, tucking you under the covers.
Just as Spencer was getting back into his bed, he felt someone getting in on the other side.
“Is this okay?” you asked, snuggling up under his covers.
“Yes, of course,” he wrapped his arm around you.
“Being close to you makes it better somehow,” you murmured, drifting off to sleep.
-
You awoke to the view of Spencer’s concentration face, tongue poking out of the corner of his mouth, as he tried to complete the newspaper’s crossword.
“Morning,” you yawned, rubbing your eyes.
“I got you a blueberry muffin and tea,” Spencer pointed to your bedside table.
“Oh what I wouldn’t give to be able to have coffee right now,” you sighed.
“If it helps, I’m giving up everything you can’t have in solidarity,” Spencer sipped from his cup of tea.
“Your suffering doesn’t cancel out mine, Spence. You’re sweet but have your coffee,” you gave him a peck on the cheek.
You rolled out of bed and collected your clothes to shower.
“Hotch wants us down in the lobby in 30,” Spencer informed you.
“Got it,” you spoke, stripping off your clothes in the bathroom.
You inspected yourself in the mirror and noticed the little bump beginning to form, “You know we’re going to have to tell them relatively soon, Spence. It’s only going to get more noticeable,” you called out.
“I’m just not ready for all the questions,” Spencer grimaced.
“Me too but I’m sure the longer we wait to tell them, the more mad Penelope will be that we kept this from her,” you replied.
“How about a team dinner when we get back from this case?” Spencer proposed.
“Sounds good,” you called back, hopping into the warm water of the shower.
-
You set a coffee down in front of Spencer who was reviewing files, “Emily and I are going to the most recent dump site so I’ll see you later.”
“Okay, be safe,” Spencer squeezed your hand to try to communicate what he really wanted to say.
I love you.
-
An hour had gone by when his phone began to ring but Spencer was so wrapped in his paper trail, it had only felt like five minutes.
“Y/N has been taken by the unsub and is currently being held hostage in a building off Sunset Ave,” Hotch wasted no time stating.
“On my way,” Spencer said flatly despite every single emotion running through his chest.
You had to be okay. He couldn’t lose the two people he loved the most in one day. It would be too much grief to bear.
-
Spencer was running up the caution tape barrier when Hotch stopped him.
“Hotch, you don’t understand,” Spencer began.
“I understand she’s your best friend, Reid, but-”
“She’s pregnant,” Spencer blurted out, “She’s pregnant with my baby. I need to go in there. I’m not asking for permission.”
Spencer took off running towards the building.
He scanned each room of the house slowly, careful not to make any noise to alert the unsub of his arrival.
“You’re just a worthless bitch,” he heard a slap, “Just like my ex-wife and every other woman on this planet.”
Spencer saw red as he approached the door he heard the muffled sound coming from. How dare this man hit you? He couldn’t even think straight as he burst open the door.
Spencer lunged at the unsub, knocking him down. The unsub fought back, slapping Spencer across the face. Spencer retaliated with a punch that knocked him unconscious, quickly cuffing him.
“Spence, you could have gotten yourself killed,” you exclaimed.
“I couldn’t just sit outside and wait. I just needed you to be okay,” he cupped your cheeks.
“I am okay,” you promised him, “Both of us are.”
“Y/N, you are my whole word and I don’t know what I would do if you weren’t here,” Spencer cried.
“It’s okay,” you rubbed his back soothingly, “We’re all okay.”
“Please don’t ever leave,” Spencer whispered, looking at you directly with his watery brown eyes.
“Never,” you promised, resting your forehead against his.
You felt Spencer’s warm breath bouncing off your skin. You could practically hear his inner monologue and overthinking.
His lips softly brushed up against yours as if he was testing if you were actually there or just a dream.
You responded by deepening the kiss, letting all the stress from before melt away.
Spencer, with deep regret, pulled away after a few moments, “We’ve got to get you to a hospital! We need an ultrasound to check on the baby!”
“I’m fine,” you tried to pull him back in.
He was swayed only for a brief second before pulling away again, “No more kisses until after you are all checked out. They’re too distracting.”
You wrapped your arm around Spencer’s shoulder and he helped you stand and walk out of the building.
An ambulance was waiting to take you to the hospital and you heard Hotch tell Spencer “we’ll talk later”.
-
“Spence, what does this mean?” you asked.
“What does what mean?”
The ultrasound had come back fine and you were all stitched up. The doctors were just running a few additional tests to make sure everything was in order before you were discharged.
“We’re having a kid, we’ve had sex multiple times, we just kissed. I’m confused and I don’t think it’s just my pregnancy brain,” you explained.
“Then let me make it clear,” Spencer stood from his seat and then got down on one knee.
“Spencer Walter Reid, don’t you even dare,” you warned.
“Hear me out,” Spencer defended, “You are the only person I want to spend the rest of my life with. I am so certain of that. I will never stop loving you. I’m fully committed to you, Y/N. I know you’re probably not ready for the question I’m in the position to ask right now…but just know, I’ll be waiting even if it’s forever.”
“I love you,” you cried, pulling him up by his tie to give him a kiss.
“And I love you,” Spencer replied.
His phone on the bedside table started buzzing and he looked over.
“Hotch,” he informed you, looking at the caller ID, “I’ll be right outside. Try to get some rest.”
Spencer gently shut the door behind him. Rather than closing your eyes, you watched him from the glass window, moving his hands about and messing with his hair as he talked to Hotch.
God, you loved that man so much.
-
You awoke in the hospital bed with Spencer’s head in your lap. You combed your fingers through his curls, never allowing yourself the luxury of this kind of intimacy until now.
Spencer lifted his head and yawned.
“I’m sorry, Spence. I didn’t mean to wake you,” you apologized.
“That was the best possible way to be woken up,” Spencer grinned, “And it’s good you did. You’re ready to be discharged.”
Spencer helped you out of bed and change into sweats and a t-shirt, no longer worrying about hiding your bump.
He insisted on pushing you down to the car in a wheelchair despite your protests but he persuaded you by promising to get you a milkshake on the way home.
“I’ve just got to stop at the BAU quickly,” Spencer said as he started the car.
“How’d the talk with Hotch go?” you asked.
“Long story short, Strauss heard I broke the rules and demanded I be punished so I’m suspended for two weeks. But, you are given two weeks off as recovery time for field injuries so it looks like you’re stuck with me,” Spencer smiled.
“Sounds more like a vacation than a suspension,” you chuckled.
-
“What did you say you needed again, Spence?” you asked as you stepped off the elevator to the BAU floor.
“Just some file,” he spoke.
“You’re suspended, what file could you possibly-”
“SURPRISE!” the lights to the bullpen flickered on, revealing a fully decorated room with the whole team.
“What’s all this?” you looked to Spencer.
“Your baby shower, of course!” Penelope replied, slinging a slash around you that read ‘Mom to be’.
“Aww, that’s so sweet, guys. Thank you so much. You didn’t have to do all this,” you gushed.
“None of that!” Penelope hushed you, “Would have been sooner too if I was told,” she glared at Spencer.
“How is this solely my fault?!” Spencer asked.
“She’s carrying my godbaby,” Penelope pointed to your belly, “I couldn’t be mad at her if I tried.”
“Yeah me neither,” Spencer sighed and stared at you adoringly.

The First Meeting
Summary: After spending 6 months undercover working at a cafe in downtown Las Vegas, Y/n finds someone who might make her time here more interesting and maybe help her getaway.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Reader Word Count: ~3k Warning: N/A Genre: fluff? kinda Notes: This is honestly so bad, you can tell I had no idea what was happening as I got halfway in, I do apologise if you decide to read this and make it till the end as it makes absolutely no sense as I ran out of motivation to write it halfway through. I just really had to finish it and get it off my mind. So thank you for reading. Enjoy. Please let me know if there is any way I could improve this! Feedback is much appreciated.
Tumblr media
Y/n didn't believe in love at first sight. She didn't understand how someone could look at a person and decide that they now loved them based solely on looks. She saw it as futile, falling in love with someone without knowing their true personality. She’d scoff just thinking about someone she knew ‘falling in love at first sight’, Y/n believed there was no love at first sight, there was only lust at first sight. Nothing more, nothing less.
Being an undercover agent heavily contributed to her opinions, she couldn't fall in love (not that she would, love was overrated in her opinion) with someone knowing that at any moment now, she would have to sacrifice her life for a country that she didn't believe in anymore. She could, however, sleep with as many people as she wanted, she could lust after people, because in her opinion lust had no such consequences as love did.
Love simply was not worth the risk.
Love at first sight was a false notion.
Love did not make people happy. She saw it firsthand with her parents.
Love left destruction in its wake, and she had no room for destruction in her life.
Y/n y/l/n was sworn off love. it had no room in her life.
Not until a certain brunet unknowingly made his way into her life.
——————————————————————————————————
Y/n grew to appreciate the little things in life. The little things in her life were what made her happy, little things that she had grown to love in the past year; the birds chirping in the morning when she woke up, her little apartment which was minimally decorated but still home, and even her old neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers who would welcome her into their home and feed her until she could stomach no more.
The things she didn't have to learn to love, things that brought a smile to her face instantly were the degrees placed on her mantel, delicately framed in gold frames. At the young age of 19, Y/n had already completed two Ph.D.'s and she couldn't be more proud of herself - nor could her mother. Next to the certificates sat her most beloved possession - the only family photo she had. She would often spend hours sitting on the floor in front of the fireplace, photo frame in hand, examining each smiling individual in the photo, her mother, father, and her three brothers. She wondered how they would look now, after 7 years. Would they remember her? Maybe, maybe not. Y/n, however, could remember each of them so vividly, their voices, their mannerisms, the way they’d call for her. She often imagined what life would be like if those events 7 years ago never took place.
Alas. one could not change the past. And so she’d place the photo frame back on the mantel and try not to think of it again.
Being an undercover agent at her age was hard. She was supposed to make her way into the family of the mafia boss in Las Vegas, which she had done successfully in under 2 weeks, but after informing the FBI that she had done her part, she was asked to lay low until a new case was sent her way; which she had been doing for the past 3 years. Her days became predictable, which she grew to like, school, work, home, and then repeat. Every single day. Enrolling in and attending university became almost a hobby for her, which was how she’d achieved 2 PhDs at a young age, hoping to gain her third in the upcoming year.
Working at the little cafe in downtown Las Vegas was something she grew to enjoy. She liked the way every day was almost predictable. The cafe would open at 7am every day. She’d go through the process of raising the blinds in front of the door window and turning the sign around from ‘closed’ to open. She’d take her place behind the tills with a bright smile on her face ready to greet customers, continuing conversation with her co-workers, Jayne and Andrew, who were primarily the ones making the large array of drinks they served. Y/n reveled in the predictability of the day ahead.
The cafe, being close to the center of Las Vegas, meant that it was incredibly common for customers to frequent it on a daily basis to get their morning to-go cup of coffee, but it was rare for them to stay. So when a boy - who could be no older than her - came in every day for 3 months, y/n’s interest was piqued. He’d walk in every day at exactly 3pm, and she noticed a thick book in one hand, the other clutching the strap of his satchel. He would sit in the far back corner and read. Until the closing time at 11pm. He slowly became her favourite person and knowing nothing about it (and being too afraid to ask) she would watch him intently, creating little stories in her head about him; her favorite being one about him being a child prodigy, like Mozart, but instead of being into music, he’d be into maths.
She watched him, on and off, for the past three months and each time he was looking down engrossed in his book, flipping through it at a godly speed, y/n was certain he was just looking at the pictures to keep himself occupied, for what she didn't know. Every day she watched him walk in, with a smile on her face, waiting for him to come up to the counter and place an order, but when he walked in, he’d make an immediate beeline to the table in the back, never once coming up to the counter.
He’d walked in today, with a thick book in one hand, as he always had, and y/n had been thoroughly overjoyed when she caught a glimpse of the title, Schizophrenia Genesis. it was a book that y/n had picked up for some light reading and she had thoroughly enjoyed it. She watched as he took his place at the booth in the back corner and flipped to a page he was presumably reading before and once again began flipping through it. He was such an intriguing creature and y/n … the day she would talk to him. She decided it was going to be today.
“Hey,” Jayne came up behind y/n, lightly touching her on her shoulder. She jumped and turned around, looking at her colleague who simply grinned at her.
“Andrew and I were thinking of taking our break now seeing as it's not too busy,” she said, pointing at Andrew who was standing in the door frame behind her holding two cups of coffee, “Do you want to join?”
“Yeah.” y/n nodded, “but I'm going to take it on my own if that's alright,” she continued, sending an apologetic smile towards her colleague, taking her apron off and placing it on the counter behind her, quickly washing her hands and drying it using napkins. Jayne smiled, nodding, making her way past Andrew and to the break room.
Y/n walked up to Andrew, who was still waiting at the door with a cup for her and took the cup from him, throwing a quick smile at him and mumbling a “thank you” before sauntering over to the boy she had been fascinated by, making sure to take a handful of sugar packets as she passed the condiments station.
“I really enjoyed that book. Are you sure you're even reading that?” she questioned the boy, sliding into the seat opposite him and placing down the cup of coffee in front of him, alongside the sugar packets.
The boy looked up at her and his face fell flat as he pushed his fringe back and tucked it behind his ear, his voice came out small and defensive, “of course, I'm reading it.”
Y/n nodded her head slowly, “of course you are,” she responded with a smile, pushing the coffee cup towards him.
He stared at her, his face expressionless if not for the slight raise of an eyebrow, “I can - er - read at 20,000 words per minute.”  he stated, his eyes glancing down at the cup Y/n had ushed in front of him.
“Americano, it's on the house,” she said eventually, “You’ve been here an hour just reading and haven't ordered anything, you must be really interested in schizophrenia,” she joked. “ and 20,000 words, wow. Genius boy” she continued, her eyes widening at his comment, a small smile still playing on her lips.
The boy looked at her, “thank you.”
Y/n nodded at him as she watched him reach for the cup, grabbing it and taking a small swing of it, grimacing.
She slide over the many sugar packets she took and watched him pour all but one into the cup, using the straw to mix them in. He took a sip again and nodded approving at his sugar-filled drink.
“Would you like me to get some more coffee to add to your sugar?” she joked, giggling. She found the boy amusing. He couldn't be much older than her yet it seemed he was bewitched by a book - which now lay closed on the table -  that was classed as a graduate-level read.
He laughed with her but stopped as Y/n gasped, her hand covering her mouth as her eyes widened.
“I didn't even introduce myself, my name is y/n,” she started, outstretching her hands towards him, “but Y/n/n is fine, that's what everyone else calls me.” the smile that was present when she first sat in front of him, found its way back onto her face.
The boy simply stared at her hand and nodded, “I'm Spencer.”
Y/n put her hand back down and nodded her head,
Spencer nodded his head, awkwardly, taking a sip of his coffee before looking back down at his book and continuing to read.
She watched him for a few minutes, before looking up at the clock on the wall and gasping. Y/n slid out of the booth, pushing herself to her feet, “my breaks nearly over, we can do this again… if you want to that is…” she trailed off, apologetically.
“Okay.” he replied simply, giving her a quick glance before returning his attention to the book of which he was half way through.
Y/n nodded her head before taking her apron off the counter she had left it on and putting it on, taking her place behind the counter, which seemed to be incredibly good timing, as a customer had just walked in.
——————————————————————————————————
it had quickly become a daily occurrence. Spencer would walk in - with a different book - every day, and sit in that exact booth (as he always did) and she would make him a coffee and sit with him during her breaks. Keeping each other company as they made small talk, usually updating each other about their day so far. As Spencer became more comfortable with her, he would ramble on about statistics and facts about what she had been telling him about, and she loved it, listening intently every time.
A week turned into a month and a month tuned into an entire year and the two quickly became friends, despite barely even knowing the basics about each other.
This day was as normal as any other day, Y/n had assumed, until she had watched Spencer bite his lip and fiddle with the corner of the page he was reading, taking glances up at her every once in a while, as she stood at the counter.
She kept her eyes on the clock and as soon as her break time was displayed on it, she pulled her apron off - throwing an apologetic look towards the customer who had just shown up, and hollering for Jayne for came quickly and took y/n’s place at the counter - placing it on the chair in the back room, and practically running towards spencers booth, taking a seat parallel to him.
Y/n leaned back in the seat and watched the way he pushed back his long brown hair that fell in front of his face, before looking up at her and smiling - she of course reciprocated that smile.
“Have you ever thought about cutting your hair? Just a bit shorter, of course, just to keep it out of your face… you know, since you keep pushing it back and it might just be eas-”
“i haven’t actually,” he stated, cutting her rambling short, the smile still resting on his lips.
She smiled back at him, mumbling a little sorry, which he shook his head at.
“I’m- er - I’ve been recruited to join the FBI,” he mumbled quickly, “and er- I'm leaving in a month's time,” He looked at her sheepishly.
She looked at him incredulously, “The FBI? Why? Aren't you a little too young? I mean, you have 3 PhDs, don't you want to do something else?”
Spencer closed his book before sitting up straight and shrugging, “um- well- yes. I’m only 22 and I got offered a position with the behavioral analysis unit, so I er- thought why not. Maths and statistics and such things don't feel complex enough, so I think it’ll be a challenge, you know, Dissecting the human brain… in a philosophical sense”
She nodded along, “So you’ll be moving to Virginia then, I'm guessing”
“They're sorting out an apartment for me in D.C, so I’ll just have to take the subway to Quantico. Or get a car.” He shrugged
“Oh.”
She looked at him, giving him a small smile.
She didn't know how to feel. She felt happy for him at first, he was moving up in the world, and doing something she knew he was going to enjoy - Spencer liked puzzles and always complained to her how easy they were - picking apart the human brain and finding the unsub, such a job seemed to be right up his lane and she was truly happy for him. At the same time, she felt hurt, he was the only real friend she had. He was going to be so far from her. She wouldn't get to see him every day. She wouldn't see his smile when she complimented him on his outfits, or the slight roll of his eyes when she teased him about actually being able to read the book he brought in. She wouldn't see him for who knows how long, and she wasn't ready for this change. She wasn’t ready to lose the one person she could call a friend, not yet anyway but she would tell he was happy - no matter how nervous he was - and excited and so she didn't want to burst his bubble.
Y/n smiled at him, wide, and tried to convince herself that she was happy for him.
——————————————————————————————————
The next week, Spencer showed up at his usual time, the same book from the day before clutched in his hand, and took a seat at his usual spot.
Y/n sighed as she watched him. She was going to miss this - being able to look over at the corner and see her friend was something that made her smile. The simple thought that she had a friend despite having to live in secrecy made her smile. And so when she saw him simply place the book on the table and not even open it as he looked up at her, she left her place at the counter and slid into the seat opposite him, wanting to spend as much time as possible with him before he left.
Spencer smiled at her not saying a word as he took in her appearance, printing this image of her into his mind, knowing he possibly wouldn't get to see
it was also when y/n l/n decided, she didn't have to live like a recluse to fulfill her duties. She too was allowed to have a little bit of happiness, and as she shook Spencer Reid’s hand, she knew; he was going to be her happiness. And as she watched his eyes crinkle, and the corners of his mouth turn upwards, she decided; She would leave this life and she too would try to be his happiness.
She didn't know what came over her when the words fell out of her mouth.
“Let me come with you.”
Spencer stared at her, his mouth opening and closing as he thought of what to say, “I- er- What?”
“I know it's kind of weird, scratch that, it's incredibly weird, but you're like my only friend and I know we won't be able to talk when you were gone. Actually, we’re not even meant to be talking no-” she started rambling, and was very thankful when he cut her off.
“I couldn't possibly ask that of you.”
Y/n exhaled thankfully when she realised he didn't pick up on what she had blurted out at the end, thanking her lucky stars silently.
“You're not asking me, I'm asking you. If you let me, I want to come with you.”
Spencer stared at her, his face expressionless, “I don't even know what to say…”
“I promise I won't be a burden. I’ll get a job..” she started, she was thinking about putting her degree in medicine to good use, “and I’ll help finance everything… I promise.” she was begging at this point, sounding so desperate, even though she was shocked with herself.
Taking a drink of his coffee, which was cold at this point, Spencer sat deep in thought for a few minutes, y/n staring at him expectantly.
Slowing nodded his head he started, “Okay, I guess you can come with…”
Y/n didn't know what came over her as she leaned over the table pulling Spencer into a hug, whispering thank you’s into his ear as he stood awkwardly, having been pulled up forcefully, keeping his hands to the side, clutching his coffee cup not wanting any to spill.
Y/n let go of him when she realised what she was doing and awkwardly dusted off his shoulders, patting his arm twice before muttering a “thank you” and “text me the details of when we leave” before walking into the staff breakroom, trying to come up with discrete ways you could hand in your resignation.
To say she was excited was an understatement. She couldn't wait to leave the uneventful Las Vegas and go somewhere new, no matter how much she liked the predictability of her every day, and she couldn't wait to start a new life in Washington D.C. with her best friend.

In The Lap of Luxury, Chapter 15
Show: Criminal Minds
Pairing: Jemily
Rating: Explicit
Summary: Instead of joining the BAU after Doyle, Emily takes another undercover case with Interpol. This time, she's going undercover as herself. She's married Gabor Farkas, the American ambassador to Hungary (and a sex trafficker), in order to get information and track down the rest of the ring. Unfortunately, she's been with him for two years and hasn't found anything. Instead, she's bored, frustrated, and lonely, tired of being a trophy wife to someone who is never around. So, she hires an escort that can keep her company and give her as much sex as she wants. That escort? JJ. The thing is… Emily doesn't know that JJ is undercover, too.
