Tumblr media
For most, Valentine's day was the bane of their existence, but for you it was the day you could find an excuse to show everyone how much you loved and cared for them. You happily hummed to yourself as you put cute little customized goodie bags together that you had been working on since the end of January. Planning a party was no easy feat, as it was hard to round up all the Hashira and other demon slayers in one room. Let alone a party celebrating Valentine's Day that was suppose to be filled with love and admiration for one another.
Your rules were simple:
1. No fighting
2. Everyone gets a Valentine (and you meant everyone, you didn't want to see poor Giyuu not receive things from his fellow bitter Hashira)
3. Everyone was assigned a food item that they would bring
And lastly, but most importantly: To simply have fun.
Like you had mentioned before, a party would be no easy feat for this group as they were all wrapped up in their own shenanigans and slaying demons, but you had managed to get everyone on board, though some more begrudgingly than others. With the help of Kagaya, you had somehow made it mandatory to attend the event.
You felt butterflies in your stomach as the time got closer and closer to when you would give away your gifts. The expressions on their faces was what you craved the most and you were finally going to get to see that just as soon as you finished this last goodie bag...
"Finished!" You rolled off your stomach and began to carefully pack your things into a bigger bag.
After you had double checked that you had everyone's things, you checked your make up and hair in the mirror. You settled for a soft pink glam look and for a carmine floral yukata. You felt like cupid minus the whole shooting of unsuspecting people to make them fall in love. But the passing of copious amounts of love was what really made you feel a little like Eros. Maybe you could make a few people fall in love while you were at it.
As you counted and recounted the bags on your way to the Butterfly Estate , you managed to run into the girls who were setting up the mansion. You were amazed to see all the hard work and effort you all had accomplished over the span of two days. The girls were dressed in different attire that coordinated with the Valentine's Day theme. Patterns of hearts, flowers and cupid on their yukatas that you could tell they worked meticulously on.
"You guys look so cute!" You cooed, holding your hands up to your face.
They all became abashed by your commentary before gushing about how adorable you looked.
"Are you dressing to impress someone?" Sumi asked innocently looking down at you as you held the ladder from below while she readjusted the lights.
You blinked several times as you felt your face flush. "N-no, not necessarily."
"Is it Shinazugawa-san~" Kiyo rocked on her heels with her hands behind her back.
"No--"
"No, it has to be Rengoku-san." Naho claimed as she held her chin with both fingers in a deep thinking pose and a serious face.
You felt your heart thrum against your chest the more they talked about who you were showing up for until you simply couldn't take it anymore.
"If I tell you, will you guys keep it a secret?" You finally said as you fidgeted with your yukata.
They all nodded excitedly waiting to hear your secret crush and you beaconed them to you as you covered your mouth to whisper his name.
Their little bodies jolted in shock with cute surprised expressions before they blushed and giggled.
"And don't tell anyone!" You straightened yourself up as you inhaled sharply.
"Don't worry, [name]! Your secret is safe with us!" Kiyo piped up and the other two girls beside her nodded in acknowledgement.
You scratched the back of your neck as you felt your face warm up. You had never really confided in anyone about your crushes on men. It was a bit of an unspoken rule. You always avoided topics about your love life as if it were existent. More often times than not, you spent most of your time reading romantic novels about fantasy men who appeased to women in all the ways your heart desired. It was unfair that men were not like that. That was until you met him.
Sure, he was rough around the edges, like really rough, but he always had a certain kind of sweetness about him with you. At first it wasn't too noticeable. He wouldn't give you the same gruff and brash attitude he would others, but you thought that was just because you were a woman as Mitsuri and Shinobu were. But you had noticed that over time he would lessen his usual rash attitude and sometimes he would look at you a certain way when you talked. He was quiet and listened to you, taking all your words in as you spoke so eloquently.
"...anyone in there?" You asked waving your hands in front of his face and he would blink back to reality and 'tch' softly at you.
"Yes, I was only listening to your incessant blabbering."
You laughed at him and he would 'tch' again at you as he averted his gaze and sighed before his cheeks would slightly inflame trying to keep his usual composure. It was hard though. Keeping his cool around you. It had been awhile since he had fallen for someone, and he had kept his walls up for some time now, but with you things felt easier.
So many things that were left unsaid between the both of you. Things that you were planning to say today and hopefully maybe he would too? You sighed to yourself. It felt almost hopeless with him.
One moment , you would hype yourself up thinking, 'Of course, he likes me and is going to tell me that!' but another part of you felt quite the opposite. In fact, you felt like he almost pitied you and you hated that.
"[name]...are you alright?" Sumi asked as she fidgeted with her fingers.
You noticed how tense you were from being in pensive mode for too long. You uncrossed your arms as you relaxed your posture.
"I'm sure he likes you back." Kiyo nudged at you and you felt embarrassed.
They giggled as you remained silent and urged them to get back to attending to last minute details as every second had counted. The only thing that weighed on your mind was how he was going to take your confession. You had planned to give him his goodie bag in an isolated part of the mansion and profess your love. You cringed at the thought. What if he didn't like you back?
"Uh, [name]...you're crushing the heart plush and the stuffing is spilling out." Naho spoke up and you gazed down at the pink plushie indeed oozing in your hands that you were gripping harshly.
"O-oh." You looked at Naho apologetically as she had made it and she tried her best to not let a tear fall out of her eye as she shook her head.
"I'm so sorry."
"N-no, it's okay! I can fix this." Tears began to spill out of her eyes at lightning speed and you scrambled to try and to cheer her up, but the damage was done.
"Naho, I--" You began to say but she was already rushing out of the room and at that point you wanted to cry yourself.
"What happened?" Kiyo asked.
You showed them the destroyed plush in your hand and their mouths dropped. "It was an accident."
"Do you know how to sew?" Sumi asked as she began to rummage through drawers and then handed you a needle and string.
"Kind of." You took it from her and began to put the thread through the needle and the two of them began to instruct you on how to properly sew the material back together so that it didn't look wonky.
"It's a good thing we finished an hour early." Kiyo said eying your work as Sumi told you where to sew.
"You got that right." You mumbled as you were fixated on the last few stitches you were making to close the plush. "What time is it?"
"Hmm." Kiyo gazed over at the clock on the wall. "5:15."
You sighed as you began to close up the last hole that you had created in the plush and held it in your hands. "I wonder where Naho is."
"She'll be fine. She just needs time to cool off." Sumi smiled up at you and took the plush from your hands to admire your work. "These stitches are really nice, [name]."
"Yes, Naho will be happy to see it." Kiyo agreed and you felt relieved.
"I certainly hope so." You let your shoulders drop as you leaned up against the wall and took a gander around the room.
There were hearts everywhere. Like literally everywhere. Paper heart cutouts hung all over the room in various shades of pink, purple and red. The lights twinkled around the room and the lanterns that they had hung up were pink with the kanji 'love' written on them.
The girls had hand picked bouquets of flowers per your specific instructions to give to the guests as they entered and the table that was set up was riddled with Aoi's cooking. There was enough space for the potluck that was going to ensue very soon and that excited you as you felt your stomach grumble.
"We'll eat as soon as the guests arrive." Kiyo said and you felt a little humiliated that your stomach was that loud.
You put a hand over your belly trying your best not to think about the smell of the food that was filling the room and it was becoming harder to keep yourself from taking one of the steamed buns that Aoi just set on the table.
"Wow, it looks great in here." You heard her say as she gazed around the room in awe.
"Mhmm." You began to reach at one of the steamed buns, but Aoi's head whipped in your direction.
"[name], I thought we agreed on waiting for everyone to arrive before eating." Aoi put her hands on her hips and you sighed.
The sound of your stomach grumbling was much louder this time and you clenched your hand above the fabric of your yukata and Aoi had to keep herself from giggling.
"Okay, maybe you do deserve a small treat. You too, Sumi and Kiyo." She smiled at the both of them as they happily approached the table and grabbed one each.
As you guys thanked her, she searched around the room. "Where's Naho?"
You gave her a guilty look as you chewed on your food and swallowed hard as you showed her the plush that you fixed. "I kind of destroyed the heart plush she made and she ran out of the room crying, but Sumi and Kiyo helped me stitch it together."
Aoi didn't look disappointed in you, rather she was concerned for Naho. "I'll go look for her. Don't over eat!"
And with that she left the room and you swallowed the rest of your bun and frowned, but the girls had insisted that everything would work out and the party would be a hit. As the clock winded down and got closer to six, you started to feel more apprehensive by the minute.
"Oh wow! It looks beautiful in here!" Shinobu peeked her head in and gazed around the room. You immediately perked up as the two girls greeted Shinobu with a bouquet of roses and a flower crown that they bestowed upon her. She thanked them as she held onto the accessory before speaking to you.
"You look like you're dressed to impress a certain somebody." She eyed you mischievously and you rolled your eyes.
"You are one to talk." You retorted checking out her cute purple yukata that she had gotten specifically for the event.
Her smile never left her face. "You look ravishing."
She raised her hands to pinch your cheeks and you noticed that more Hashira began to file in. Kyoujurou being the loudest as he exclaimed about how wonderful the room looked and how delicious the food smelled.
Mitsuri had rushed over to greet the both of you and compliment your outfits and began to gossip about how a certain someone was taking longer than usual.
"I wonder what he might be planning." Mitsuri whispered.
"I heard he was purchasing flowers earlier today." Shinobu added excitedly.
You really didn't want to get your hopes up, but it was hard not to when you were hearing the pair whisper tidbits here and there.
"What do you think, [name]." Shinobu nudged at you and you inhaled sharply as you averted your gaze and watched as he entered the room.
His eyes looking up at the ceiling as he slightly grimaced, but suddenly he relaxed for a moment and then his eyes met yours. It felt like everything around you had stopped and you felt your heart thrum against your chest as the heat rushed to your face and you clamped your hand over your chest.
As you got ready to step forward to hand him a bouquet of flowers, you had been cut off by Sumi handing him a handful of red peonies. You felt your heart slightly drop as his mouth went into the shape of an 'o' and took the flowers by surprise. You had purposefully given everyone a particular set of flowers to convey how you felt for them. You had various and copious amounts of snapdragon for strength, yellow roses for friendship, chrysanthemum's for joy for your friends, but him--red peonies. Honor, respect, passion--love.
Would he even notice? It was so simple, yet so obvious. To a man, maybe not.
You turned away for a moment, feeling a pang of humiliation set in. Mitsuri and Shinobu noticed your discomfort and began to engage you in eating the foods that were being set up on the table.
Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, but you. You didn't want to seem ungrateful for the event that Kagaya had helped you even get all the demon slayers together, but it was hard when you felt like he was avoiding you the whole time.
As you watched Aoi try to fend off Inosuke from eating anymore food, Kagaya was helped into the seat right beside you.
"A little crow told me you weren't enjoying yourself." He took a sip from his tea,
You sighed and felt your shoulders slump as you picked at your cake with your fork. "Forgive me, I'm just not feeling up to be in a party mood any longer."
He smiled and found your arm and squeezed it. "Everything will fall into place. Just be patient."
You never remembered telling Kagaya about your crush, but that man did seem to have his way of knowing everything that went on.
You smiled softly as him. "Thank you, Oyakata-sama."
You felt your spirits lift as you watched him swish his drink on the other side of the room. He shifted nervously on his feet as you locked eyes again. A smile tugged at your lips as you gazed at him and then over to your overstuffed bag of gifts.
You leaned over to whisper to Kagaya and his smile grew as he clapped his hands together and immediately their attention was on him. In fact, all the demon slayers in the room immediately sat down in front of him as they would in any other meeting minus the bowing.
"We will now commence the exchanging of Valentine's gifts." Kagaya announced and everyone began to shuffle as they reached into their bags and conversed with smiles on their faces.
You rummaged through your bag as you put Kagaya's gift in his hands before anyone else got a chance to rush to him. "It's a good luck charm."
Kagaya’s smile never left his face as he began to feel around the charm that was made into a keychain. "A crow?"
"Yes. Do you like it?"
Weird question to ask a blind man, I know.
"I do. I will cherish it. Thank you, [name]."
He reached for his bag and handed it to you and your mouth went into an 'o' as you stared down at it. "You didn't have to."
"I'm not exempt from gift giving."
You carefully pushed past the tissue paper to reveal a small vial with wisteria flowers engraved into the glass and you undid the top to sniff it and it took you a moment to realize what it was.
"For a little courage."
You screwed the top back on and felt yourself flustered for a moment as you took a peek at the man who was irritated as hell with Giyuu. Poor Giyuu was only trying to receive the gift from him without any damages, but it was all in vain. He only frowned at the slightly crushed candy star that his Hashira counterpart ruined out of unnecessary vexation.
You looked back down at the vial before putting it back in it's packaging. "Thank you, Oyakata-sama."
He pretended to not hear you as he exchanged gifts with other demon slayers and you remembered that you needed to do your own exchanging.
As you happily handed out your gifts, your fellow comrades had seemed to light up as you as they opened their presents, but as happy as they may have seemed their reaction is not what you craved for the most. You had searched the room, but you couldn't find the man you were about to profess your feelings for. You finally got up from your seat, but you had bumped into something or rather someone.
"I'm so sorry!"
You knew that little voice. You gazed down to see a tear stained Naho peering up at you and you smiled down at her and fished out the fixed heart plushie.
"Tadah!" And her face instantaneously lit up with glee as she took it in her hands and hugged it.
"Thank you so much, [name]! It's perfect."
"I'm sorry about earlier."
She shook her head and smiled as she spread open her arms inviting you into a hug which you of course accepted. "It's okay."
She moved to whisper to your ear. "Now go get him!"
You felt your face fluster as you pulled away from her and you both giggled. "Thank you, Naho."
You then gathered your valor as you took one last look at the gift you had prepared for him as you stepped out into the cool spring breeze. It was crisp and beautiful out as the wisteria petals fell onto the courtyard. And that's when you saw him.
He was leaning against a pillar as he looked over at the sunsetting just above the mountains coloring them and him apricot. You looked down at your gift from Kagaya as you quickly doused yourself in the perfume before sharply inhaling and exhaling. You heard the crunching of grass and rocks under your feet as you approached his figure and his head slowly turned to you. His cheeks are tinted carmine but they are glazed over by the tangerine glow of the sunset.
"Hey." You said.
"Hey, yourself."
"Um, you're the only one I haven't given my gift to yet." You fished out the present and handed it to him and his eyes widened.
"O-oh, yeah. Here's yours." He gulped as he gave you yours.
Your eyes lit up with joy as you opened your hands greedily. He was staring down at you waiting for you to open your gift.
"Ladies first."
"Right." You shifted your gaze downwardly as you began to unwrap your gift.
It was a small red gift box that was wrapped in a gold ribbon. As you undid it and opened the box, the contents inside had immediately caught in the light. Your jaw went slack as you looked from the beautiful golden ring with your birthstone in a baguette cut to him whose face was completely inflamed as he held a bouquet of red peonies. And they were not your peonies because threaded between the beautiful red flowers were baby's breath--everlasting love.
"I never have the right words to say, so hopefully these flowers and that ring says it all." He mumbled as he looked at you with hopeful eyes.
You felt your sight becoming blurry as tears spilled down your cheeks. "I--I don't know what to say, Sanemi."
"Just...just say yes to me courting you. The ring is an extension to your acceptance."
"The flowers..." You took them from his hand as you deeply inhaled them.
"Yeah, I know how you're big on flowers and their symbolism. So when I saw that everyone else had gotten platonic symbolic flowers and I was the only one who was handed red peonies, I knew I made the right choice." He began to scratch the back of his neck nervously.
The wind swept past you as you smiled with glee and ushered the box toward him. "I accept."
His eyes broadened as he put his arm down to his side and felt a small smile etching at his lips. "Really?"
"Are you kidding? How could I say no?" You laughed. "Please, do me the honor of putting it on."
He happily took the ring from you and gently took your soft hands in his hardened calloused ones as he carefully slipped the ring into your finger. "It looks beautiful."
"I picked it out myself." He smiled looking down as it caught in the light. "Do you like it?"
"I love it." You peered up at him and his violet hues met yours .
His chest rose and fell heavily as he gazed at you, caressing the apples of your cheeks before bringing you into a soft kiss. You let out a small sigh of content as you couldn't stop smiling.
"Now, let's go show everyone that we're now officially courted." You swung his hand around and before he could say anything you were already happily skipping back to the estate as he stammered away. The gift you had given to him swung in his other hand as you had already completely forgotten about it and your confession.
You were too full with joy to even listen to him as you slid open the door with his hand in yours and everyone turned around to look at you both in shock.
"We're getting married!" You showed off your ring.
"[n-name]!"
And for a moment everyone began to gather themselves the both of you to congratulate you and your very flustered and quiet counterpart, with the exception of Tengen who looked quite disgruntled.
"Yeah, this is amazing and all, but seriously, [name]? You spelled my name wrong?" He held up the gift tag to reveal that you spelled his name as "Tenmen."
You tried to hide your laughter at your idiotic mistake as he had kept going while everyone else was also looking at their tags. "You've known me for how long? Three years now? You can't even manage to spell my name right?"
"Mine reads, 'Tyoukurou'!" Kyoujurou exclaimed with his usual boisterous laughter following it.
"According to Genya, mine appears to be, 'Meowmei" Gyomei smiled.
"Piyuu."
"Obobo."
"Dokidoki." Muichiro snickered under his covered hand.
"Henitsu"
"Gonpachiro" Tanjiro pressed his lips together in a straight line.
"Gnosuke?!"
"Well, me and Kanroji-san's are right." Shinobu piped up.
"Yeah, us, too." Makio agreed with Hinatsuru and Suma.
"Us too!" The three butterfly girls exclaimed as they had included Nezuko and Aoi.
Your new partner had hesitated to even look at his gift tag, but his jaw dropped. "Samemi?"
"Ahaha..." You nervously scratched at the back of your head as it had roused confusion and frustration.
"What can I say? I'm horrible at remembering names." You felt your face flush at the embarrassment of spelling every male's name wrong.
"How did you forget mine?!" Sanemi cried out as she showed you the incorrect name. He was pouting so hard it was adorable as hell seeing him like that, but the distress you had caused him and everyone else was...kind of hilarious actually.
And before you knew it Mitsuri couldn't hold back her laughter any longer as it had filled the room. Kagaya was giggling in the corner as he used his sleeve to cover his mirth and soon the entire room was brimming with glee at your awful mistake.
"Well, in any case," Tengen spoke up happy he wasn't the only one as he held a glass to the air and the rest of you all followed his lead. "To [name] and Sanemi! May you have a happy marriage!"
"To a happy marriage!" You all chorused as glasses clinged and you sipped at your fizzy drink as you peeped to look over at your new fiance.
"Are you still upset at me?"
He sighed as he put his glass down and cupped your cheeks with his roughened hands and leaned his forehead against yours.
"Just don't forget my name again, or I think I might go crazy."
You giggled as he kissed your forehead. "I won't"
"Promise?"
"I promise."
And with that whistles were made at your lips met again, gleeful at your new courtship.
"What did you give, [name]?" Amane whispered to Kagaya as she wept with joy for Sanemi and you.
A mischievous smile crept on his face as he answered. "Just an illusion of courage."
(he gave [name] pheromones which is what your body naturally gives off to basically induce arousal to others around you LMFAO)

V3 boys accidentally knocking up their s/o in the killing game
desc; how the v3 boys would act if they found they knocked you up during the killing game.
warnings; fem!reader, pregnant!reader, sexual comments, cussing, mentions of sex, mild mild spoilers??
just a small note; I haven't finished the 3rd game yet so I have no idea what happens thus, I apologize if it isn’t too accurate or if there are gaps in my story! Also, i don’t know if reader stays in the killing game long enough to birth a child, so like, i just made it like she did??
Shuichi
to be honest, I think he would find out before you did.
he is extremely observant so he would notice the symptoms right away
He would notice how you got fatigued easily, how you seemed to get nauseated
first, he would ask you if you were late
then, if you said yes, he would tell you straight up.
“S/o, you’re pregnant.” “I- I’m what!?”
he would definitely get worried for you and his baby,
a child born into a killing game is not ideal after all.
would be with you at all times, too scared to let you out his sight
he doesn’t want you or his baby to get hurt or killed by another student
yes, he believes in everyone but he can never be too careful.
he’s constantly pestering you and asking if you’re alright
you have 0 time to yourself, because he’s always with you
would probably hold hands through the bathroom door if you were using the toilet
he would try and prepare everything for when you go into labor
he wanted to make sure that both you and the baby are safe before and after labor
he takes care of you very well, always getting what you need or want
overall, i think he’d be a very responsible dad when the baby is born, probably the best dad out of everyone.
Kokichi
At first kokichi thought you were joking,
“Nishishi! Nice prank, s/o! You almost got me!”
But when you look at him with a serious expression, he goes-
“Wait shit, did we not use protection?”
He’s not sure how to feel about it, so he just puts a fake face on.
He acts super excited and unworried but on the inside he’s not sure what to do.
he would constantly over think and become unsure of himself, the question repeating over and over in his head; Would he be a good dad?
Though he’s concerned for you and the baby, he’s actually kinda happy
he’s excited for all the pranks he and the baby can do against everyone in the killing game.
He has a new pranking partner!
yes, his pranking partner is less than a month old, but still! the baby is going to be a pranking master!
if you had strange cravings, he would try them with you
wanting to, “experience being pregnant with his tongue(kinky?)”
the horny bastard would probably still wanna smash, but definitely more gently than usual, he didn’t want to stab the baby with his dick
I think he’d talk to your baby via belly a lot
he would tell your baby stupid jokes that were kinda inappropriate but still hilarious
“Hmm, it must be nice being inside S/o. I would know, I was too.”
“KOKICHI-” “NISHISHI!” *fucking books it*
i think he’d be a pretty irresponsible dad, but he’d definitely fight for his new family(with pranks)
random headcanon, but i think kokichi would wrap your baby in one of his checkered scarves when it comes out like- ahHHHHHHHHHH
he would also swaddle da baby with his scarf fvhajfgkgavkgbuyg
Korekiyo
When he found out, he was pretty shocked at first
But after the shock, he was insanely happy that he managed to create a human with you.
he adored the fact that his child would be able to make history and continue to live on even after he dies.
He loves humanity, so he’d love the human baby he made with you even more
during your 9 months of pregnancy, he would praise you and your ‘glowing body’ daily
constantly saying stuff like, “Your body is a temple and you are a Goddess.” and “The life growing inside you simply amazing and I am proud to share this experience with an entity such as you.”
You know, that cheesy ooey gooey romantic shit
“S/o, I want to crawl into your body so I can experience being born aga-” “That’s enough of that.”
It's cute and all, but it sometimes gets embarrassing when he is basically worshipping you in public(especially like that).
i think he would tell the baby, folk tales and myths while it was still in your belly
he wanted to raise the baby to be just as curious as he is.
though, behind all these adorable things, kiyo is worried.
don't get me wrong, he does enjoy the other students’ thoughts and strange minds, but he doesn’t trust them for a second.
he would never willingly leave you with another student.
he gets a teensy bit controlling; always asking you to stay in his lab or dorm.
but he won’t get unreasonably angry if you go anywhere else, he just encourages staying in places with less people
if you do need to go somewhere else with other people, he would just follow you
in the end, I think kiyo would be a dad that never neglects his kid(can’t relate-).
he would always be there for them.
K1-B0
K1-B0 doesn’t have the facilities to knock anyone up.
like kokichi asked, do robots even have a penis????
how the hell did you two fuck in the first place!????!
but if somehow, miu gives him a penis and actual sperm??? I guess it could work?? i don't know how it works man- I've never fucked a robot
I think he’d be happy and proud that he managed to impregnate you
“See!? I can do human things too!” “...Impregnating a human, K1B0? Seriously? Too fucking far.”
okay, I can’t take this one seriously T_T
um, if you and K1B0 had a baby, would it be half robot??
through your belly, the baby would make robot noises to communicate and K1B0 would understand which is cool
when the baby was born, he gets very protective; he doesn't want his baby to face the same discrimination and bullying he did
he wouldn’t be afraid that the others would hurt the baby, because he helped build in lazer eyes for his baby.
oh but he definitely would not let his baby go near Miu at all
he would prevent that from happening as much as possible
he’s afraid she’ll do something weird to the baby and add new gadgets,
sure its cool and all for him, but the baby is so young!
I DONT KNOW WHAT THIS IS ABVHGJDFKVJGVJ
Kaito
Kaito would be fucking psyched when you told him, stars in his eyes and everything
“I-I’m gonna be a dad!? whOOOOOOOOOOO!!” He picked you up and hugged you tight, but not too tight; he didn't want to hurt the baby.
But then realization hits him like a truck when he realizes, that the baby was going to be born into a killing game.
He would have a nervous breakdown and cry for about, ehhh a day or so
but once he gets it all out, he focuses on the positives
if it was possible, he loves you even more than he did before!
now that you have a mini you growing inside you(inception!?), its like, double the love :0
he’s giddy everytime he sees you with your baby bump, not being able to resist hugging you every time he sees you.
he loves you so much, it's hard to put in words
he cries when he can feel the baby kick, kissing your belly uwu
when you’re around people he can’t trust in the killing game, he gets very very protective
he would watch their every move, moving to shield you when they move their hands.
but around the people he trusts like shuichi and maki, he’d let his guard down and relax
he would stress out if you were in any discomfort, always making sure you were okay
if your legs or back were sore, he would be there in an instant to massage your joints until his hands fell off
he puts you before himself, sometimes forgetting to take care of his basic needs like, eating or sleeping
you’d have to remind him a lot
I think something cute that he would do while you two slept is holding you or your belly protectively while he dozed off
overall, a goofy dad that makes stupid dad jokes.
would have a lot of proud dad moments
he seems like the type who would embarrass his child a lot lmao
Gonta
uh, gonta is father?
would definitely be shocked and stressed out when you told him
his protective mom dad instinct would intensify and he would constantly be carrying you
1. because he didn’t want your legs to get tired
2. he’s practicing for when he picks up his baby
3. if he carries you like this, no one can reach and/or hurt you
4. because he can
5. and because a gentleman would do that
he doesn't really know what to do when you’re having pregnancy symptoms, like vomiting, nausea, etc.
he’s not great at that part, but he knows how to protect you from danger and he knows how to make sure you’re comfortable
he treats you like a queen(as all women should be treated!)
he isn’t really worried when you’re around other students, but he still picks you up just in case
i think he’d act super sweet, like his sweetness would intensify to 100
he would try cooking a meal for you or giving you breakfast in bed, but it always tastes like boiled eggs in the end?
like no matter what it is, it always tastes like boiled eggs
pasta? boiled eggs
maki rolls(haha)? boiled eggs
sandwich? boiled eggs
“...Mmm! Gonta this is, uh, not at all tasting like boiled eggs!” You tried to say enthusiastically, Gonta nodded with a soft smile, “Gonta glad you like it!”
eventually you caved in and told him(after a few months... you didn't want to hurt the baby—gonta—, okay?)
he’d have to ask kirumi to do all the cooking while he just handed her ingredients
he feels weird when he thinks about the fact that his baby is growing inside you
all he can think about is larva
but he thinks its cool that his creation is going to grow inside you and become another human
so he just rolls with it
Rantaro
(i apologize in advance if this isn’t too accurate)
i feel like i can imagine this:
Rantaro was sitting on the benches outside, drinking his bottled tea. His eyes darted towards your approaching figure. He stored his leftover tea in his cheeks as he gave you a wave, putting his bottle down. “Rantaro, i’m pregnant.” His eyes widened as the tea came spewing out, luckily he turned his head away so you were out of the splash-zone. He dropped his bottle before standing up and immediately hugging you. “I love you so much, we can do this. I love you.” He repeated as he moved his hand up your head, tangling his fingers in your locks.
he would be pester you if you looked like you were in pain or struggling with something, thinking you were going into labor
*breathing pattern changes* “Holy shit! Are you going into labor?? Fuck, okay um, uH hospital?? UH contRACTIOns HOw LoNg?-” “I JUST BREATHED DIFFERENTLY.”
p a n i c
he doesn’t know how the whole pregnancy thing works, he’s only a teen after all
but no matter what, he supports you in any way he can
i think if anyone made a bad comment about your baby or you, he would probably scare the shit out of them with his scary expression
intimidation x100
i headcanon him to be a cuddly dad
he would hold you a lot, he likes feeling all three of you together
small scenario from when the baby was born;
As your baby’s cries filled the room, you sighed as you got up from the bed. Rantaro, however, abruptly stopped your movement, “Don’t worry, I got ‘em.” He rubbed his eyes, kissing your forehead as he gently pushed you back down onto the bed and walked towards the crib.
You watched with droopy eyes as Rantaro gently shushed the baby by bouncing them in his arms. Rantaro made his way back to bed and slipped in beside you, the now quiet baby still in his arms. “Mmm Rantaro no, we’re gonna crush the baby.”
You softly groaned in protest. Rantaro pouted at you, silently pleading with you with his puppy-dog eyes. You let out a huff of defeat before nodding, eyes half-closed. The last thing you saw before dozing off was Rantaro smiling goofily at the baby. You slowly fell asleep, Imprinting a gentle smile on your face as you slept.
sorry for steering the other way for rantaro’s, its 6am ;-; what is sleep anyway? phew, thank you for requesting this! i enjoyed writing it, it was fun :D

Korekiyo, Nagito, and Rantaro x affectionate S/O who can’t handle receiving affection
Korekiyo Shinguji:
·       You always showed your affection through acts. You rarely spoke of your affections for the man or even held his hand. However, whatever Kiyo needed or wanted you’d provide. He needed to organize some artifacts; you were right by his side assisting with the task. Perhaps he was so absorbed in his work he forgot the time; you brought a light meal so he could eat as he continued to work. You’d do research on whatever captured his interest in the moment so you could provide information or a perspective he possibly had not known of before. You’d organize his research notes and materials for him so he wouldn’t have to bother with it.
·       It was a day like any other, Kiyo realized he had forgotten one of his notebooks, so you raced to his library-like room to fetch it. “Ah, thank you my Love.” You froze in your tracks, almost dropping the book in the process. “I love you.” Strolling up to you he took the book, smiling so brightly able to feel the heat that had risen on your cheeks even at a distance. Breathily laughing, he leaned in, giving you a kiss to the forehead with his mask still on before returning to his desk. He didn’t go back to work just yet though, listening to the high pitched, squeak like noise that had escaped you, sounding like air leaking from a balloon. He didn’t even need to look over his shoulder to know you had a wobbly smile which you tried to hide behind your hands, but he did so anyway. “You’re just too cute.” You curled up into a ball. “I love you so much. I don’t know what I would do without you. You have so irreparably changed my life, it’s astounding. You-” “OKAY THAT’S ENOUGH! MY HEART IS RACING WAY TOO QUICKLY! GIVE ME A BREAK!” “For how long?” “I! DON’T! KNOW!” “… I’ll wait half an hour then.” “DON’T TELL ME! THEN IT’LL BE LIKE TRYING TO SLEEP WHEN YOU CAN SEE THE CLOCK! YOU’LL JUST CHECKING IT AND ANTICIPATING AND NOT GET A BREAK!” “Alright……… I love you.” “THAT WAS NOT A LONG ENOUGH BREAK!” He dreamily sighed seeing just how flustered you were. “I-I- I’M GONNA SEARCH FROM SOME BOOKS!” “But I have all the books I need here.” “I CAN FIND MORE!” Then you dashed away.
·       Even if Kiyo could not show you his affections often because of how flustered you’d become he knew you knew of his love without a doubt, and that was enough for him.
    Nagito Komaeda:
·       Being in a relationship with Nagito was a rather… interesting experience. You were a very affectionate individual, family and friends alike would receive an excess of hugs, kind words, kisses, cuddles, gifts and much more. Your boyfriend was included in this. You’d give him hugs at any and all times, often using it as a greeting, dashing up to him from behind and tackling him into a hug which usually ended in either good luck or bad luck to ensue. You sing his praises, especially when he began to call himself trash, attempting to refute his every point as best as you could and go on and on about how amazing, smart, and kind he was. You’d dragged him into cuddles, holding him close on a bed, or couch, or grass covered ground, and run a hand through his hair, or just stare into his eyes. You’d shower him in gifts whether it be flowers, food, treats, Hope’s Peak paraphernalia, and anything else you could think of that he’d like.
·       Nagito however… He’d always sing your praises; even give you gifts but more physical affection… That was something more lacking, him saying it was unfair for trash to touch one as amazing and lovely as you. He’d happily accept all your touches, but he’d never initiate.
·       The rainy season had begun, and it was pouring. On your way dashing through the rain to the next building for the library you crashed into the ground, your clothes getting soaked through, and your now bent umbrella carried away into the distant sky by the wind. Not wanting to damage any of the books you opted to sit outside and trying to figure out how you were going to get back to your dorm room with the wind thrashing about, sending large tree branches to be thrown about, easily injuring any who was unfortunate enough to be in its path.
·       Suddenly you were held in a tight warm embrace, and umbrella just barely keeping the rain from pelting onto your head was held above you. “Eh- Nagito!?” “Uh, I think you shouldn’t be sitting in a storm like this. Let’s try getting to the dorms, alright?” “Y-Yeah.” And thus, clutching you close he dragged you through the storm.
·       Soon the pair of you had reached the dorms… only to find a tree had collapsed before the door, blocking you out. “I’m so sorry, my luck probably did this.” He hugged you even tighter, nuzzling his face into your neck. You could feel a smile tug on his lips as you hugged him. You simply pat Nagito on the head. “I think it’s good luck, for me at least.” “Huh? How?” “You finally hugged me!” Lifting him up you spun around and around, almost toppling over in the process. “But I hug you all the time.” “Yeah, but you started the hug! Even if this is just to keep me warm or something, you hugged me first!” His heart melted hearing that cheerful giggle. So you thought he was trying to keep you warm… That was a good excuse, he wouldn’t have to tell you about how trash like him just wanted to hold you close, hating seeing how sickly you seemed.
    Rantaro Amami:
·       Rantaro always had a need for physical contact, it was something he always craved, something that seemed to never be satisfied, which was why you were perfect for him. You were one of the most affectionate individuals he had ever met, always holding his hand, and giving him hugs, surprise kisses and such. You were always near by and he could always feel it.
·       Being affectionate had just always come so naturally to Rantaro. It was likely due to having so many little sisters who needed and wanted the love, so he never gave a second thought to patting you on the head or giving you a kiss on the forehead.
·       There were times though when he did it deliberately, like holding your hand. He always had a need for that or for some sort of contact with you in general should you be nearby. He needed you by his side, to keep you close, so you wouldn’t just suddenly disappear. He didn’t know if he could take losing anyone else.
·       It was always just so natural to slip his hands into yours. And every time he did so, you’d tackle him into a hug, cover his whole face in kisses, make a huge show of any affection he gave you with your own.
·       The pair of you sat on the couch, and Rantaro felt goosebumps crawl across his skin as a chill drifted through the room. He simply scooched over, draping an arm over your shoulder, pulling himself close. Then suddenly he was tackled onto his back, you nuzzling your face into his chest, hugging him so closely. Rantaro simply chuckled, wrapping his arms around you, getting you to pepper his face with kisses.
·       There were times when he wondered why you were like this. Was this a sort of competition for you, or did you just want him to know you appreciated his affection. If you wanted to tell him, you tell him, but there could be no reason, and you just wanted to do so. Whatever it be, Rantaro didn’t care as long as you were happy.

[G] Gentle summer - Rengoku Kyojuro x GN!Reader - Part 2
[Contains spoilers from the movie, and the manga] [No pronouns used for the reader, no physical description; Everyone +18]
Words : 10 317
Archive of our own
Warnings : Blood / Injuries / PTSD
--- Part 1 -
I do not care. I do not care. I kept repeating to myself when I felt the two little hands nudging my thigh. My name was called in the hope of waking me, little did they know I was fully awake but did not wish to wake up. I was trying my hardest to keep my eyes shut, it was in vain when Naho mentioned him, “The Wind Pillar has arrived at the mansion and is looking for you, he seems to be in a foul mood and-“ “No need to say more, this man is always in a foul mood but I will get him. You can leave, thank you Naho,” She gave me a curt nod and stood up, pausing mid-way to the door when she giggled and smiled at me before looking next to me and hurrying off.
Something was holding me back from fully sitting up. It was heavy, and as I tried to move my hand I realized it was wet. Slowly turning my head, I covered my mouth to hold back a laugh. The sight was hilarious, Kyojuro was laying the lower half of his body on the futon while the top half was on the tatami. His hand was still holding mine, but he was now resting his cheek on it too, drooling. As much as I found the situation adorable, it worried me that he was laying on his stomach. “Kyojuro, would you please wake up?”
I patted his cheek to get him to react, nothing. Pinching it lightly did nothing either. “It is still morning, do not make me yell,” I mumbled as I hesitantly ran my hand through his hair. It was soft, with a lot of knots, but still enjoyable if I did not thread my fingers, that is. “I have a lot of patience, but as cute as this is, you are sleeping on your stomach and I will not have it,” Without much gentleness, I slipped my hand out of his, earning a sleepy grunt from the man when his cheek hit the tatami. Looking at the time, I hurried to help the man back on his back and onto his futon, then left the room after putting my futon away once I made sure his wound was alright.
Knowing Sanemi, he would not give me time to get changed once I’m in his vicinity, so I made a detour to get dressed in my kimono, without forgetting my sword, before going exactly where I knew he’d be. There was no way to deal with this man with gentleness, usually Shinobu or Aoi would take care of the Pillars when I was busy but not him. They did not want to waste time with him.
Entering the dojo, I did not knock to warn him of my presence, I slid the door open with force before closing it the same way. “You are bleeding over the tatami,” I stated to the man who was training, blood dripping from his open wounds. My stare was not one of someone afraid of the violent man, but of someone annoyed to the bone. “I wouldn’t be here if you had arrived sooner,” He snapped, slashing more decoys, his eyes ever so filled with rage.
“I am here now, stop moving,” Aoi must have sneaked in earlier to put the necessary to treat his wounds, which explained the tray with medical necessities. While Rengoku did not listen to me out of air-headedness, Sanemi did not listen out of spite. He had heard me perfectly well but was being his usual self. It’s with a sigh that I unwrapped the additional sash around my waist and used it to tie my sleeves out of the way, “Why is it always like this with you?” I asked once I was done.
He faced me with a maniac grin, “It’s more entertaining like that, come at me,” it was always the same. The man was fully aware his wounds needed treatment, but if the attention was not given the moment he arrived at the Butterfly Mansion, he would go on about his life, untreated. Using brute force was the only way to get him to stay put, and that’s what I did, it was not a serious fight, far from it. No breathing technique were used, a simple sword fight. But even with a gash on his arm, Sanemi was strong, he was an amazing swordsman.
The loud clash of the metal colliding was repetitive, consistent, it was accompanied by long sounds of the same metal as our swords slid against one another. The closeness of our faces was paralleled by our swords pushing with force against the other. “I have barely woken up, I am in no mood to entertain you any longer, just drop your sword,” I grunted, trying hard to match the force with which he pushed against my blade.
“I don’t care,” He pushed once more then stepped back, when I almost tripped, I still caught a glimpse of the wince that flashed on his face before disappearing. “You are weak,” He spat, running at me again, I did not step down. “I might not be a Pillar, but I am not weak,” I said casually, this time gaining the control as I pushed him back, holding my sword with one hand as I moved my free one to grab his arm roughly. It made him moan in pain, but he did not let go of his sword.
“You play dirty-“ “It is to match the state you put the dojo in,” I said playfully. As humorous as I was trying to be, I knew he was going to stop fighting soon enough to let me treat him, but I did not appreciate the disrespect of ransacking this place for entertainment. “It’s just blood, who cares,” He shrugged, stepping away from me as he let his sword drop by his side, sheathing it away.
Mirroring him, I did the same, my back facing him as I took the tray from the ground and joined the man’s side. He had slumped down on the ground gracelessly, his sleeve rolled up, “Clearly, you are not the one cleaning it. Are you not aware of how hard it is to get blood off the tatami straw?” He simply rolled his shoulders in response, looking away as I treated his wound. I knew here and then that the conversation was over, there was no surprise; The length of our interactions could be summarized to aggressive banters, not that I had any say in how it went. I simply knew how to deal with the man.
“You have frightened the girls, and you have made of this place a mess,” I started, while packing everything, “Apologize to them on your way out,” It was not a question, it was a command. I was not in any power to do so, I was not Master Ubuyashiki, Pillars were not my subordinates, but I liked to believe they respected me enough to listen to me when I’d tell them they’re in the wrong. The odds of the Wind Pillar excusing were slim, but I found solace in knowing I tried. No one can change a stubborn man, not even kindness, not when he seems so keen on being wilder than a boar.
With a huff, he left, but the door did not close. As I stood up, I saw a blond mop of hair outside, “You have awakened, did Tanjirou make a lot of noise when he woke up?” I asked the lightning user. Zenitsu had a strange way of using his breathing technique, but was a skilled fighter, nonetheless. It did not show in the way he held himself. Stammering, the boy stood straight, “Tanjirou said that- big brother- I mean, the… Rengoku woke up? Can-“ He was pushed to the side when the face of a boar was now in front of me, “Can we see him! Gonpachiro saw him-“ He was very loud, and very energetic, it was too early for this.
Placing a hand on both their shoulders, I smiled kindly, “He needs some rest,” They sighed, so I continued, “The proper way to start the day would be the morning meal, let us eat, then I shall see if Kyojuro is awake,” After asking them if it sounded good to them, the two boys nodded and sped off. Somehow they managed to turn their breakfast into a competition, which threw me off slightly but at the same time made me smile. I was glad to see them well after the events on the train. While I was not there, I knew they had fought bravely and assisted the Fire Pillar with honor. Strong fighters are those with strong hearts, but a strong mind plays a big part too… let’s see how long they’ll last… I thought darkly.
Aoi told me she’d check on everyone while I had breakfast, she argued it was to compensate the morning setback and to help me release some stress from having dealt with the Wind Pillar. I told her it was alright, but she insisted. It was odd but appreciated. What was even more strange was when I joined the kitchen, I was quickly shooed away by Sumi. “Kiyo will bring you to your room!” “Sumi, I know where my room is, would you please tell me what you are up to?”
The young girl shook her head as her friend held my hand and pulled me in a direction. I did not need to read minds to know where she was bringing me, “Kiyo, this is not my room. It is-“ “You’ve spent the night there! Even if it’s a secret, we’ll help you out!” She whispered excitedly as she knelt by the door and slid it open, gesturing for me to get in. I crouched down to her level and used a gentler voice, to show I was not mad, “Has he given his permission for you to do this? It’s his private chamber, and he is also in need of rest-“ I stopped talking when she looked down, her hands on her lap as she greeted someone shyly, with a lot less familiarity than she would if it were me.
Looking to my left, I was being towered by the warm presence of the Fire Pillar behind me, “Thank you, young Kiyo!” The girl nodded and hurried off, but I was able to catch a glimpse of her reddening cheeks as she disappeared off. “A fine morning! Thank you for coming, I was not sure you’d agree,” Rengoku said as I entered the room, closing the door behind me.
“Before you say anything, I haven’t done anything!” He said in a defensive manner, laughing softly as he showed me the trays on the veranda. “This morning Shinobu visited,” He paused as he showed me he could sit down without much help, I smiled to myself at the determination he put in all of this, he was also proud of showing his improvement. The Pillar seemed to have seen it, he looked up at me and grinned, “Within a few days, I will be able to go everywhere with you-“ He cut himself off when I made a curious face. “In a sense of going on a date with you, I do not plan of following you around the mansion,” He said, chuckling.
While he said so, his cheeks were brightening. The sun was not yet to blame since it was not on this side of the building yet. Huffing a laugh, I knelt in front of him, our food separating us. “I see nothing wrong with having you around me a bit more, I find you very calming,” Bowing, I wished him a good meal as we then both started eating. He did not, however. He looked at me with bright eyes, “You do?”
Chuckling, I nodded, “I do, yes, even when you talk a bit loudly it is enjoyable to be around you,”
Rengoku hummed, the smile on his face growing wider and wider by the second. “I feel the same about you!” He told me, as he tied his hair back to get it out of the way as he ate. To that, I laughed as I finished my bite, hoping the warmth in my cheeks wasn’t showing. “Maybe it is biased by the fact that I took care of you many times, have you considered that?” Yes, I accepted his courtship, yes I found the man beautiful in all aspects… and yet, I was trying to make him change his mind. Was part of me thinking I was not worth his attention?
I shook the thought away and tried, at the same time, to avoid staring at how gorgeous he looked with his hair tied back. “It is fantastic that you can take care of people! I myself am clumsy and come back with a lot of wounds, but that is not the reason why I like you,” He paused, about to shove the biggest portion of food in his, already full, mouth. I placed a hand on his, making him look at me like he was caught red-handed. “Sorry,” He said it in a way that was muffled by the food and how much he had in his mouth but I still smiled.
When he swallowed he put chopsticks down and held one of my hand in both of his, “It’s the way your eyes light up when doing the things you like the most, it’s the way you carry yourself everywhere with such grace-“ “Grace is a big word, wouldn’t you say?” I said.
“To me it’s grace! If it’s not, you still look stunning every day, but I find you the prettiest when watching the sun set. It sends my heart all over the place to see you smile-“ His compliments, while kind-hearted and genuine, were becoming too much for my erratic-beating heart. I carefully pried his hands away from mine and covered his mouth, lifting myself on my knees a little to reach his face. “Your point has been made, Kyojuro, I shouldn’t have assumed you were biased, I get it”
Under my hand, I could feel his lips turning up, his smile broadening as he moved my hand from his face, “I’ve changed my mind!” He exclaimed, letting go of my hand. Quirking a brow in response, I wondered what he meant by this. His eyes weren’t leaving mine, his smile turned more smug than joyous, while both were positive feelings, I couldn’t help but feel my body react someway. “The sight of your bashfulness might be a prettier sight than that of your face under the sunset’s golden glow,”
Any hope of hiding how flustered I was, was gone after he opened his mouth. The funny feeling inside my chest was not leaving, if anything it was reaching for him, but I did not. Looking at my food, I chuckled nervously then said, “I will have to take a look at your wound, you rolled on your stomach during the night. I was rushed this morning, I did not have time yet to do so,” When Rengoku laughed, oh so beautifully, I looked at him with a frown. It was in no way threatening, but I tried hard to keep some ounce of dignity.
“This is serious, I hope it was worth it. I even had to drag you back to your futon,” Nodding fervently, he took a sip of tea to help the food pass then beamed, “It was absolutely worth it, I got to hold your hand. I would have expected you’d have let go during the night, but I am overjoyed that you did not,” His sincerity was off-putting and welcomed at the same time, I tried to match it to no avail.
“I did not want to let go, I was here to help you sleep after all, was I not?”
“I’d like to think you enjoyed my company too, you are free to leave whenever you wish!” It was not some passive-aggressive speech, it was honest. And it was sweet too, he deserved some back. “I will be staying until you are fully recovered…” I trailed off, hesitating to add more, trying to make it sweet but I did not know how, then I spoke, “It was a peaceful sleep, I trust you slept well too? After all, you did end up sleeping on my hand and drooling on it, I felt you must know about it,” It was his turn to be embarrassed as his face turned a different shade.
He swallowed, with some struggle, and quickly said, “I am sorry for the drool! I slept very well, I had to come closer because you tugged my arm during your sleep, it was adorable,” I covered my mouth to avoid spitting everything out and finished eating before reacting, “Have I done that, now? That…” I wouldn’t know much of what I do in my sleep, it was quite exceptional to sleep this close to anyone. Ever since I started the slayer training I have had no opportunity to share a bed with anyone. There was no denying what he had said, nor had he given me any reason to distrust him.
“Well, perhaps I will bring my futon closer next time. I wouldn’t want you to end up on the tatami once more,” I trailed off. Noticing he was done eating, I did not give him time to react and grabbed my tray, “I will be cleaning everything up, sorry for intruding. Kiyo brought me here, she-“ “I asked her to bring you! I wanted to eat breakfast with you, has she not told you?” Clenching my jaw, I threw a glare at the door, although I couldn’t see anyone I knew one of the three younger girls was waiting outside.
Sighing in resignation, I put everything down and sat next to the Fire Pillar after moving the pillow. “She made it seem like it was her idea, I felt a bit uneasy interrupting you. I also thought you were still asleep,” Kyojuro hummed, wordlessly telling me to continue. Looking to the side at the flamboyant man, I smiled and placed my hand down, close to his, “I think I like the idea of you trying to have the girls’ attention for such a small endeavor. It is cute,”
“You think I’m cute?” He did not seem shocked, it sounded more like he was making sure he heard right. Though I was persuaded he knew he heard right since he was smiling proudly at me, “Among other things, yes,” I tried to give off an air of mystery, and it seemed to have worked since it piqued the man’s interest. “Among other things? I wonder what else it could be,” He was thinking deeply, his chin resting between his index finger and his thumb. Reaching for the ribbon in his hair, I untied it and freed his mane, I was in awe at how much his hair was tangled.
Quirking a brow curiously, Kyojuro asked, “Do you prefer it undone?”
I laughed, “My preference does not matter, but have you considered combing your hair?” He shook his head, “It gives some volume with the knots!” I did not know who had planted that idea in his head, it was odd, and I was not expecting him to say that at all. When I stood up, he stopped me by grabbing my hand, “Are you leaving already? Will you return tonight?” My heart soared, the pleading look in his eyes turned me into a puddle, but I kept my composure and huffed a laugh.
“I am not leaving; I believe there is a comb in the cabinet. If you’d allow me, I’d gladly untangle that mane of yours. You will not lose volume, I promise,” There was a glimmer in his eyes when he smiled and went to stand up, fortunately I was next to him when he started falling forward. I quickly took hold of his arm and held him back from hitting the floor. Helping him back to his feet, I inquired, amused, “You are wearing a jinbei, on what could you have tripped?”
“Well- Maybe it was a technique to get closer to you?” He smiled at me, he had been doing so a lot recently, and goodness was I weak to it. Not just his smile, but his presence, his laugh, his pretty face… that was getting closer now. I did not look away; I matched the intensity of his gaze but couldn’t find the proper words to reply. Of course, I wanted to get closer to him, but what would the others think? Was it a good time to do so? A lot more was to come, and we could not allow distractions. My eyes darted to his lips, I knew it, but I quickly averted my eyes to look at the pillow on the ground.
“Let’s get you seated so that I can check your wrappings,” I whispered, gesturing for him to sit down. Rengoku made a confused sound but did as I suggested; Once seated, he leaned his head backwards to look at me, “As comfortable as this jinbei is, would it be problematic if I wore my kimono?”
Glancing at him as I made my way to him, fresh wrappings in my hands, I nodded, “Once I’ve changed your bandages, you can do whatever you’d like- unless it’s training. That is still off-limits… However, seeing how fast you’re healing, I might let you train tomorrow.” I told him as I gestured for him to lift his shirt. The Pillar leaned back on his elbows after having undone the tie of his jinbei, his bright eyes observing each of my movements. It did not look like it, he seemed to be simply fascinated by what I was doing but I could see he was thinking of more.
To get his mind off of whatever was going in his head, I prodded, “Are you not excited to be training-“ Suddenly, my hand was gripped when I was about to uncover his wound, a frown painted on his features the Fire Pillar did not move. Rengoku Kyojuro was a man of many talents, being the most optimistic in this mansion was one of them. Never had I seen him without a smile or confidence. Even at this very moment, the look on his face made me want to pity him, his features were serious but seemed to be hiding some pain, it was not a sight I relished in, but he was not asking for pity. Instead, I gave him time.
When he did not let go after a few minutes, I grabbed his hand with mine that was not tightly held in his large one. “Kyojuro, are you alright?” His hand did not move, so I gently pried his fingers away. As I started doing so, he came back to me and let go of my wrist, quickly after, he threaded his fingers with mine and brought my knuckles to his lips. “I apologise, I don’t know what came over me. I’m-“ He chuckled nervously, breathlessly, but I think I knew what happened. But was not going to mention anything, so, instead I brushed my thumb over his cheek.
“We’ll say it was a technique to hold my hand, right?” His cheeks flushed red, his warm hand clenched mine a moment, the prettiest laugh escaped his lips as he looked down shyly. “Well, I’m definitely not against it… But you might need both your hands if you want to take care of me,” He let go of my hand and leaned back once more, his eyes still looked distant as if he was trying to force himself to not look at the wound. To help him, I talked as I removed it, “Do you like fireworks? There will be some in the village nearby, and while you probably can’t go there yet, I know a spot where we can see them,” There was no need to mention that the spot was on the rooftop of the mansion.
At least not yet.
“Fireworks are great! I remember, I would bring my brother to our small village’s festival. It wasn’t grand at all, but we had a lot of fun. He used to be scared of fireworks, he’s not anymore.” He winced a few times as I cleaned the wound, but I listened intently. Looking up, I asked, “Were you?” he lifted himself from his elbows to help me wrap the bandages and quirked a brow in a question-like manner. “Were you afraid of fireworks?” “Oh, not at all! I always liked them, I always loved how everyone would agree on it being the most beautiful thing during the festival. It would always bring everyone together- and it’s also, like a painting in the sky,” His gaze set on mine, a serene smile on his lips.
“It’s also a great moment to spend with someone you care about, wouldn’t you agree?” Keep your composure, do not look away. “I agree, it is in three days. Will you be available?” Extending a hand to help him up, he took it. I was glad he did not pull me down to him, only accepted the help. Once standing, he gave me a curt nod. “I will be. Even if I had some plans, I would make time for you,” He made a gesture as if he was whispering a secret, leaning forward, “Being bed-ridden gives you a lot of free time, but let’s not mention that,” I laughed at his antics, realizing we were still holding hands. In my head it was quite simple, if I did not mention it, he would not let go. So that’s what I did.
“It has benefits indeed, not all bad…” He must have seen my eyes dart to our hands, even for just a second, I thought so when he squeezed his hand and his smile broadened. Not moving from our spot, I changed topic, “You mentioned Shinobu visited this morning, I believe we did venture off topic, but is she back? I have not seen her,”
Just as I asked, a gentle voice was heard next to us. I should have let go of Rengoku’s hand, but instead I simply hid our hands behind my back as we faced the face in question, “I have returned for a while, yes. I trust Aoi has been doing good work?” Shinobu’s eyes darted to the Fire Pillar’s stomach then back at us, “Would you like me to take care of your wound while I am at the mansion?” She asked in her beautiful voice, her expression as neutral as possible. She would always seem deadpanned if not for the smile gracing her features all throughout the day.
The golden-haired man shook his head fervently, “I am feeling great!” he added that I had been doing a great job at taking care of him and that he would only allow me to take care of him.
The woman’s face turned to me, a more sincere smile on it, “Is that so?” “Aoi and the girls are shy around Kyojuro, that is all,” I explained as composed as I could. She turned to look at Rengoku, throwing me a side glance, “Kyojuro, hm? How cute, I will be checking on Sanemi, then. I am sure you will be enjoying one another’s company the best you can, yes?” Before she disappeared, the Fire Pillar made sure to make it even more obvious of what was going on when he grinned, “I will definitely be enjoying every second of it,” Then like a gust of wind, Shinobu was gone.
“She has indeed returned; I should help her out with Sanemi. He was in a foul mood when I saw him earlier,” I said, letting go of Kyojuro’s hand as I made my way to the door. His eyes darkened suddenly when I paused at the door, about to tell him something. I held my tongue. “Has something happened with his brother, again?” He asked, seriously.
I shrugged, “I never ask, I am only the person in charge of calming him when Shinobu is not around. He scares Aoi and the girls, he might be a kind person deep down, but I do not have time to spare on his immature attitude.” Perhaps it was too sincere, after all, Pillars probably all got along. At least, most of them, I knew for sure that the Fire Pillar got along with all of them some way, I never knew how he did so, however. Humming, he joined me by the door, “I will pay him a visit, if I am allowed to leave this room, that is?”
Laughing, I slid the door open, “Of course you can leave the room, I would ask of you to take the crutches in case you get tired on the way. One of the girls will be bringing you your kimono, I’ll let you get changed,” When I lifted my head after giving him a curt bow, his lips were on my cheek as he pressed a tender kiss on it before pulling away smiling. “Thank you, will I be seeing you tonight?”
The nerve. This man, how could he? Be this adorable, after kissing me. Was he not aware of how fast my heart was beating, of how I wanted to pull him closer for more? That was not proper, but I relished in the idea of being in his arms. Shaking the thought away, I kept my mouth shut until I found the proper words, that were not pure gibberish and finally opened it to say, “I will be training this afternoon- without any mission, I need to keep in shape… If you’d like to do the same as yesterday, you are very welcome,”
He nodded. “Gladly! I will be visiting Sanemi promptly, I’ll make sure to be at your training on time,” We both stood by the door, unmoving, looking at each other. It was longer than socially appropriate, but I felt the need to do something, anything, I did not wish to leave him yet. Leaning in quickly, I pecked his cheek before hurrying off, “I will see you then, take care,” My hand held the hem of my attire, I did not want to look back and see his expression. Would it be shock? Satisfaction? Happiness? Perhaps was he flustered? I told myself to not look back, but my self-restraint was not what it used to be.
Just one glance, I thought as I looked over my shoulder. The sight that greeted me was more than enough to reassure me, he was covering his mouth in an excited-way, his cheeks reddening. This was good, this was worth it- Still not having looked away from the Fire Pillar, I bumped into someone and apologized just as fast. “Kanata? Is there a problem with Master Ubuyashiki?” I asked as I stabilized the child with both of my hands on her shoulders, she showed me the letter destined to Rengoku.
“I see. At the end of the corridor. Is it urgent? Shall I gather-“ Cutting me off, she shook her head, “A personal exchange between the Fire Pillar and the Master, I will be leaving now,” With a curt nod, she quickly left. I watched her go, dazed by the interaction. But I did not let it linger on my mind any longer, bumping into her helped me straighten my ideas. I still had things to do for the rest of the day and could not let the beautiful man make me lose focus.
Among other things, I had to make sure the Wind Pillar’s report was adequately done. I trusted Shinobu to write hers with care, but everyone knew Sanemi did not have the soul of a writer, nor the patience of one either. Once this was done, I was going to check on the other wounded, but Shinobu was already one it. She was, after all, in charge of all this. She had taught me some things but was more versed in that field than I was, yet she allowed me to stay by her side today as she did her round.
We did not exchange much, being focused on taking care of everyone. I stopped following her once we reached the three new recruits’ room, a lot was happening there, they were all very awake. “Aoi will be taking care of them, they need to learn how to breathe properly. I will make sure everything goes smoothly, you can leave,” She nodded curtly my way, dismissing me, but I stood there. “I need to exchange a few words with them, after that I will make sure to leave them alone to that they can focus on their training,”
She agreed, bowing me farewell as she made her way out. I did not bother to knock considering how loud the boys were being, the odds of them hearing me were very low. “I see you are both very energetic, you will be able to see Rengoku later in the afternoon. He has to have a talk with the Wind Pillar first, but I’m sure he’ll be very happy to see the three of you,” Looking at Tanjirou, I smiled knowingly, “Perhaps avert from jumping on him this time. He did not mind, but he is still in a bad shape, no matter the smile on his face, understood?” The young brunette nodded, blushing slightly in embarrassment.
Turning around, I faced the two others, “And you two,” They paused their shenanigans, “Tame yourself, tone the energy down a notch. I do not know where you found all that enthusiasm, but I know it’ll disappear quick enough once you’ve started your breathing training,” With a curt nod, and a mischievous smile, I left them, ignoring the slight fear in their eyes. Only one of them had determination, as if he had been challenged, and that was the boy with the birthmark.
Staying at the Butterfly Mansion too long brought boredom, I’ll admit. I could not fill my days with training, as much as I wanted. It would make my hands calloused, and I would be exhausted too fast, so I would read. Trying to learn more about the demons, reading reports from the Pillars before they were sent. Yes, it was not made to do so, but I was curious. And it kept me busy, I also made sure to put them back in place every time. They never saw any difference.
One time I got caught, but the Mist Pillar did not care. He stood by the door, then left without a word. It made me refrain from doing so for a few days, then I began again.
Sometimes I would help taking care of the big mansion, but the girls were not the fondest of the way I did things and tried to keep me busy too. Fortunately, most of the time I was away, but when I wasn’t, it was for a longer period than I liked and staying put was a drag.
I managed to stay busy and did not see time pass. The afternoon arrived quickly, and once I got changed, I knocked on the wooden beam next to the shoji door. I waited until I heard his voice telling me to come inside, his kimono was half-way opened, the sash keeping it closed on the lower half. While my first thought was that he looked the most beautiful like this, I also calmed myself down for he was exposing his entire upper half quite a lot. It’s not that I had never seen it, but the mood between the person taking care of the wound and the wounded, was not present.
Instead, it was just two people, alone in a room, which brought a different kind of intimacy than the one from a caretaker. Looking aside subtly I spoke up, “Are you aware this is not the proper way to wear a kimono?” I asked jokingly as I made my way to the veranda, walking past him. The steps of the Pillar echoed behind me as he joined my side. “That is true, but it is so warm today,” He pulled out a fan from the inside of his attire, making me confused for a moment but I did not ask.
“You should have taken it in consideration before asking to wear it, then. Should Kiyo bring you your jinbei? I am sure it is clean by now.” He shook his head fervently then gestured at himself, grinning, “I am handling it properly,” I ogled, he brought the attention to his chest, what else could I do but enjoy the sight? And enjoy the sight, I did. So much he caught me after I stared a bit too long, “Is it distracting you?” He asked with a grin, returning to fanning his face. Turning my face away, I chuckled, “Absolutely not,” It was bolder than usual to ask me such a question, which made me wonder…
Throwing him a glance, I could see his cheeks were slightly redder than usual. While it could be put on the account of the heat, I couldn’t help but ask, “Kyojuro, have you drank?” I had my answer when he laughed loudly, turning it into something shyer when he stopped. “You have a keen eye. I am not drunk yet, but I drank some sake with Sanemi, it had been a while since I had done this,” He hummed, content. His eyes were focused on the horizon as he pondered, nostalgia filling his gaze. My heart seemed to like seeing him happy, I could feel it beat faster.
Clearing my thoughts, I stood up, sword in hand, “You should be careful, the sun makes the alcohol take effect a lot faster. You should drink some water, Kyojuro,” Chuckling, the man stood up and made his way towards me, smiling ever so reassuringly. “You are worried, it is very cute,” My cheeks flared up, but I didn’t say anything as he continued, “But I am not nearly as drunk as to make any mistake, I would say I am tipsy at best,” His eyes trailed on my face a moment, meeting my curious ones for a moment before looking down. He turned back, laughing to himself before clearing his throat, “Let’s begin, shall we? Perhaps would you like to work on hiding your presence?”
Right, training. Straightening my back, I focused on holding my sword properly and took a few deep breaths to calm down. How can I calm down? Had his eyes lingered on my lips? I must have imagined it… No amount of forcing could make me leave my head, I am sure he did, what would I have done if he had kissed me? Kissed him back. But it is not good to so when such a big fight is coming… I quickly got past the denial stage, and started bargaining, we can’t allow ourselves to be distracted but having someone around helps you stay grounded, does it not?
“Are you alright? I promise I am fine, if that is a big concern-“ “It’s alright, it’s alright,” I huffed a laugh as I gave a curt nod to the Pillar, tightening my grip on my sword I set myself in position. “I simply got lost in thoughts,” I said lightly, resting my posture a moment as I quirked a brow towards the golden-haired man. “Can I ask you a question?” he nodded enthusiastically, sitting back down as he fanned his face. His hair was pushed back by the gust of wind the fan made, but that was not what caught my attention.
What caught my attention was the way he was sitting. A hand behind his back as he leaned on it, his legs spread slightly, half-way through sitting tailor style. It had no reason to look this good, this sinful, and yet I couldn’t look away. But I did, focusing back on his beautiful eyes, “Am I that bad at hiding my presence? I have always thought I was doing good, now I am thinking back on a lot of things… I have never encountered any issues during missions either,” I trailed off, thinking of all the times I tried to be discrete around the Pillars, watching some train, perhaps one more than the others.
He had indeed told me he had seen me lurk around, but perhaps it was only a few times. Lifting his chin as he looked up, thinking, he hummed, “Well…” A few moments passed, then he looked back at me, eyes wide, just like his smile. “I would like to think I have always caught you watching me, even when you’re on the roof, your feet dangling off the edge. That’s also because your shadow is casted on the ground,” He said with a laugh. While he laughed, I sheathed my sword away and tried to keep my composure, “When I train at night, there is a lot less movement in the mansion, so I can sense you a lot more,” He nodded, giving it a deeper thought.
“When you hover by my door nervously too-“ “I do not hover nervously, I am not nervous. I am simply aware that you might be occupied somehow and think against disturbing you. That is all,” That was too fast, too defensive, he saw right through it. I crossed my arms over my chest, looking at him intently, he was beaming but not saying much. “Maybe you are the only who can sense me because you try to, have you considered that, Kyojuro?” I suggested.
He seemed proud that I had said so, his smile, instead of being a grin, turned into one that spread from ear to ear. Using the beam next to him for support, he stood up and walked up to me, his hands reached out for mine, uncrossing my arms. “I do. I find comfort in your presence,” his hands slid from my forearms to my hands, holding them gently. “I have gotten used to having you around, even if you do not know, and even if we do not always talk,” He pulled me closer without much force since I let him do as he pleased. I wanted him to wrap my arms around his form so he could do the same with me.
He did no such thing, no. Instead, he brought my knuckles to his lips and pressed a kiss on them, “We should still work on your breathing, shall we?” I couldn’t talk, instead I turned my hand palm up and placed it along his jaw, holding him there a moment. With the sun hitting strongly, I could feel my whole body heating up, but it was not the only reason. The warmth inside me was welcoming and kind, frightening at time with how much I wanted more, but I enjoyed it. “We should- yes. We should resume training,” I said as I stepped away from him, his hands letting go of mine.
He stood there with a knowing smile, then stepped back and proceeded to explain how he would do it. After a while, he changed his way of explaining and gestured with his hands where he could feel the energy going through and enthusiastically. “I do not feel it there, it is more in his area,” I said as I pointed at my sternum, then asking him to wait as I put my sword on the ground. He shook his head, “That is wrong, it should be,” stepping closer he pressed his fingers on each side of my ribs then trailed against it back to the sternum, “The entire thing here, does it make sense?” He brought his hand on his chin once more, furrowing his brows as he thought deeper with a hum.
While he breathed heavily through his nose, I could feel the tingles on my skin, goosebumps. But there was no time to lose on this, I did as he instructed and closed my eyes, calming down my breathing. “Alright, now you have to visualize it- it is harder to explain than I thought it would be, but it has to go,” once again, he trailed his indexes, starting at my throat then grazed down quickly to separate at the ribs and set on the side. I ignored the shivered that ran down my spine, “That is how I do it, here,”
I opened my eyes in surprise when he put my hand on his side, the area that he showed on my body. “Do you feel the difference?” “I believe I do,” he laughed breathlessly, his smile faltering. It was my time to furrow my brows when I saw that, “Perhaps you should stop for a while-“ Just when I said that, he gripped my shoulder tight, his head hanging low. He was still smiling as he looked up at me, “As much as I would like to say I’m fine, I think it is a bit too much in one go,”
Chuckling, I agreed and helped him back on the parquet of the veranda where I sat him down and handed him back his fan, “Heat, alcohol, training,” “You,” “…it does have some effect on the body- I’m sorry? You said something?” The golden-haired man had said something as I berated him half-heartedly, but I did not quite catch it. Grabbing my burning sword from the ground, I brought it where there was shade and sat next to the Pillar.
He looked at me from the side, and smiled, “I said, you,”
“I, what?” I asked, confused. “You make my heart beat so fast, I am bound to feel dizzy sooner or later,” Huffing a laugh, I looked ahead instead of his blinding smile. If I stared at him again, I did not know what I would do. Would I have the audacity to reach for his hand? Or his cheek, perhaps… No, I wouldn’t. “I am willing to bet is it mainly due to the gaping wound in your stomach and the stifling heat, that is bound to have some effect on the body,”
His laugh would have been louder if he was not decomposing next to me, I heard a thud quickly after. Looking at him in panic, he was laying on the ground with a lazy smile, his entire body stretched out. “I am usually a lot better at handling heat, this is a first,” He chuckled.
Seeing Naho from the corner of my eyes, I gestured for her to approach when I noticed the tray with water and a cloth. She set it on the ground before hurrying off, I barely had time to thank her.
“Let it be the first and only time, yes? I do believe we are done with training for today, nothing much can be done in this heat,” I said as I placed the wet cloth on the man’s forehead. A long sigh of satisfaction left his lips when he opened his eyes and looked at me. I sat, kneeling by his side, changing the cloth every few minutes to get him to liven up. With his eyes locked on me, watching each of my movements, I was very aware the latter. I made sure to not overdo anything, nor to look at him. In this very position, I could easily lean in and- and nothing, get him to cool down and go, I reprimanded myself.
Stopping me by grabbing my arm gently, Rengoku spoke up, “If nothing much can be done in this heat, that means you are available for the rest of the day, correct?”
I nodded, quirking a brow as to ask what he meant. “Well,” He grunted as he went to sit up, I was quick to help him do so, feeling his muscles under my hands but not reacting. “Would you comb my hair? I do not know how to say this, but…” He trailed off, a short huff escaping his nose. Seeing how he seemed to grow timid, I voiced my agreement, adding, “I had indeed planned on doing so earlier today,” Standing up, I made my way to the cabinet, “Since you are so beautiful- your hair is, your hair it’s a beautiful color, it’s going to be fun to comb it,” I hummed unsure, hoping I had covered up my mishap. It was badly done for sure, since I was more eager to run my fingers through his hair than anything.
When I returned to the Pillar, he had made his way back inside where the air more bearable and was now sitting on his futon. I did not remark he had not put it away upon his awakening in the morning, but instead stood in front of him as I ask, “Are you certain you are feeling good? Only minutes ago, you were ready to pass out,” While I said it in a lighter tone, worry still weighed on me when I looked at his half-lidded eyes. Still, I knelt behind him and had to take a moment at the sight of his bare back. It took all the self-restraint in my body to not throw his hair over his shoulder and let my hands travel over his back muscles. Yet, I managed to hold back.
Part of me felt ashamed to need that much restraint when it came down to this man, but there was nothing I could do about it. “I will be honest with you; I might fall asleep. It seems I have overdone it today,” He chuckled, scooting back so that his lower back was against my knees. Laughing with him, I said he was right but that he wasn’t the only one at fault, “I should not have asked for your help, I knew you were in no shape to do so,” I then started combing his hair, encountering a lot of knots but Kyojuro did not seem in pain as I undid them, so I continued while talking.
He tried to look at me, leaning his head back but I pushed it back to straighten it, he laughed, “Do not feel guilty, I am sure we have made some progress. And I did get to see you flustered again, there is nothing to regret from that,” He said with conviction. It made me pause in my action, which gave him a chance to turn around and look at me from over his shoulder, “Yes, just like that, beautiful,” He grinned before turning around once again, letting me resume what I was doing.
A comfortable silence set between us, we could hear the water from the pond outside along the people talking in the corridors when they’d walk by the room before quickly echoing away. The heat was not going down, but the room temperature was good enough for us to get through it. I had a harder time with the warmth coming from the man in front of me, but I was not going to complain. I found comfort in him being this close to me, so much I had this growing fear inside me, this fear of losing him. After all, was I not getting him back to health so that he could fight some more? He was one of the strongest and was going to be fighting equally strong demons when it came down to it.
I hated it, there was nothing to do about it, for I was also going to be fighting but it was still a nagging fear that had made its way inside my mind. “I deeply respect you, Kyojuro, I trust you do what you believe is right and praise you for it… but sometimes being selfish is not bad, I know you are no such person but… consider it if you ever found yourself in a situation that gives you the choice,” I said softly as I run my hand through his hair to check if there were any other kinks in it. When I did not receive an answer from the exhausted man in front of me, I guessed he had fallen asleep.
Huffing to myself, I started threading my fingers through his hair once more, this time braiding it, “Perhaps it is for the best, it was out of place to say that much…” I mumbled to myself, not adding anything more as I finished braiding his hair. When it was done, I placed it over his shoulder and hesitated a moment.. Looking around the room, I made sure no one was looking and placed a kiss at the intersection of his neck and shoulder before standing up quickly, stumbling slightly from how long I had been sitting. I was amazed at how he could still be sitting when he was clearly asleep but still proceeded to lay him down before leaving silently.
For the rest of the afternoon and evening, I helped with making dinner. A lot more had to be made considering whom had joined earlier today, but also because the three recruits had the appetite of ogres. It seemed the training they were undergoing made them spend all their energy a lot faster and at the end of the day they were starved. While they all waited for the food, I had led the recruits to the Fire Pillar’s room as promised and left them all together, knowing Tanjirou would be a lot more cautious and take care of his friends if they were to go awry.
Doing something other than taking care of the Pillar was very welcome, it kept my mind off thinking of him which I now realized was a lot more recurrent than it used to be. I had always liked Rengoku, but clearly, spending more time with him reinforced that feeling a lot. I would still try to get myself to not consider getting together with him, but then my brain would remind me that he had set himself on the path of courting me and warmth would spread in my chest. My name was called as I was putting away the dishes, bringing back to the present.
“Tanjirou? Are you not with the others? I trusted you to take care of their… rambunctious attitude, is there a problem?” The boy shook his head and furrowed his brows a moment, before tentatively saying, “I thought… Big brother has been talking about you for a while now, I thought you had gone away on a mission and he was missing you but…” Hearing him say so brought heat up my cheeks, I heard the girls chuckle in the kitchen and turned around to shush them. It was hard to keep myself from smiling but I kept my composure, “Well, you can tell him I will return soon,” I held back from saying that I will spend the night with him again.
Another fit of giggles behind me brought back the heat to my cheeks, but also to the young man’s, in front of me. He gave me a curt nod before hurrying off, embarrassed. When he was gone, I resumed my activities without saying anything, but I could hear the comments from the people in the kitchen. “Are you aware I can hear you?” I asked, half-joking half-annoyed. Their giggles stopped, ushering their words into a silence as they went back to their tasks.
I knew the rumors would spread fast, but if Kyojuro was being this obvious in whatever he was doing, they were bound to grow even more. I made a mental note to mention it to him as I walked to his room, thinking I would be hearing some ruckus and found myself surprised when it was completely silent. Should I go in? Perhaps he has fallen asleep again, along with the three boys? They needed to rest, I should peek and make sure- “The nervous hovering!” The door was slid wide open as the joyous man stood in front of me, his hair still how I had left them.
It suited him. It suited him so well, even more so with his kimono properly draped over his shoulders. A weird feeling wormed its way in my chest when I looked at how gorgeous he looked like this, “I was not hovering, I thought you were asleep,” Looking over his shoulder, I noticed he was alone, “Have the recruits left already?” “Yes! When young Tanjirou told me you were coming back, I made them leave, the evening is ours after all,” He smiled gently.
I knew he did not mean it in the way I heard it in my head, the one that involved more proximity, so I banished the thought and hummed. Two little forms slid inside the room and placed the food trays on the ground before hurrying off, I managed to catch a glimpse of their grinning face as Kiyo and Sumi disappeared. “Come on,” Taking my hand in his, he led me inside, I noticed my futon was already spread out and a lot closer too. I did not know if it was on purpose or accidental, but whichever it was, I was not going to say anything.
“You know, Kyojuro. I was not entirely sure everyone in the mansion knew I had spent the night here, but with how open you are to talking about it, I’m sure even the young Master knows, now,” Was I complaining? Or was I embarrassed by how he had no filter when talking about this? At this point, I was sure he had talked about it in length with the recruits who had nothing to do with any of this nor found interest in the topic.
Nodding, Rengoku swallowed and said, “Master Ubuyashiki knows, I have been exchanging letters with him,” I felt my throat tighten, that was what I feared. I never knew what the rule regarding relationships between demon slayers was, it was one of the main things holding me back from taking a step further. At least that is what I kept telling myself. Clearing my throat, I ate some more and inquired, “What? I am not sure it is allowed. No, actually, I do not know anything about what is accepted in the corps, regarding that…”
With his eyes wide, Rengoku stared right at me, “It? That? Would you mind being clearer?” His tone was innocent, but he was smiling proudly, as if he had caught me. Straightening my back, I played the serious card, “Well, you are courting me, are you not?” He laughed, nodding, “Correct. And you are doing the same with me, in your own way, is that right?” I was, indeed. Less with words, more with actions, but I was. I was relieved he noticed and that he did not think he was doing it for nothing. But I did not reply.
Feeling his hand on my ankle, I was startled and let out a sound of surprise, making him chuckle as he said, “Would you mind answering me?” “I am. Yes, I am courting you, because you are very,” Many words crossed my mind, beautiful, kind, stunning, funny, warm, welcoming. But only one left my mouth, “nice. You are nice, yes.”
He had to cover his mouth when laughing this time, his eyes closing as he did so. At this very moment, I thought, if I could, I would have painted this very moment and kept in my room the beautiful sight he had given me when laughing so brightly. It was something I’d never forgot. I looked down at my food, his cute laugh engraved in my head. “Well, Master Ubuyashiki informed me he had nothing to say, as long as we both put our duty before anything else. Which, I am sure you can do, if… it came down to it, someday,” “Of course, if it ever, yes…” We both looked up, our eyes meeting an instant before looking back at our food. A smile grazed my lips, I could feel it.
Without much more to say on the topic, the conversation drifted off to family and things we loved to do when we were younger, it flowed smoothly. It was also relaxing, even more so with the cool breeze of the night that entered the room. When we were done, and everything was tidied up we slid in our respective futon, lulled to sleep by the lighter temperature and the cricket conversations outside. In the depth of the night, lit up by a clear sky, as the door leading to the garden was still open, Kyojuro said my name softly.
“Yes?” I replied, my voice barely a whisper as I turned around on my futon to look at him. He was already facing me, his eyes wide open, not an ounce of sleep painted on his features. In an ushered tone, he asked, “Would you please sing for me?” There is a lot going on in my mind, was the subtext when he worded his question.
I reached out for his hand and held it gently, “Well, would that help you sleep?” I whispered, chuckling tiredly. “I think so,” He said it as if confiding in me, huffing a short laugh. Even with the little light that illuminated the room, I could see how his eyes flickered almost sadly before setting on our intertwined hands.
Not commenting on it, I started humming tiredly. I did not know how long it took for us to fall asleep, but I remembered him mumbling something before passing out. What had he said, I do not know, but I did felt serene as I dozed off.

Can you please do Kokichi's reaction to his sweet and optimistic s/o getting executed but after the execution he finds out that she didn't even kill anyone? I'm feeling a little angsty today >:)
ahhhhhhhh finally, an anon who gets on the angst train >:) no dissing my other anons, you’re all amazing and ily also yay :D kokichi request
Request for: Kokichi Ouma Warnings: chapter three spoilers (also brief endgame spoilers), also i know monokuma’s weird rule against executing those who aren’t the blackened but like… chapters 1 & 6 literally exist ~~~
“But I thought only the first killer would be punished?” Himiko tilted her head slightly.
Her eyes held a universe filled with stars and planets not even Kaito, so-called Ultimate Luminary Bullshitter, would ever even be able to dream of. Bright and wonderous.
Her eyes were his light. Forever and always. He could stare into them until the sun itself burned out and consumed them alongside the earth. He could think of no other way he would want to spend his last moments alive than with her and those eyes.
Bright eyes filled with endless hope, trust, and adoration for each and every one of her peers. Even him. Even Kokichi - the one that nobody liked.
He admired her for that.
“Nevermind that! I didn’t kill Tenko, Kiyo did! He was already punished! I didn’t do anything!” (Y/n) shook her head, clearly distraught at having been accused of murder.
Her lips were the apple and Kokichi thought himself Eve. Irresistible. Timeless.
Desirable to him beyond explanation.
He would put his lips to hers and feel his heart leap when she'd giggle and smile.
Sweet like candy. Comforting as silk. A final resting place for his worries. A revival of each reason why he adored her so.
Sparks, consistently. Love, constantly.
“Confusion in the paperwork or something like that…” Monokuma waved off before jumping up in his seat, giggling behind two paws, “besides, is it not so despairful to have someone like (Y/n) commit a murder?”
She would never hurt one of her friends, let alone kill them. She was too kind. Too soft. Too hopeful.
It was just another drop of rain in the sea of reasons why he loved her. Her optimism. Her heart. Her soul.
She would never bring about despair so long as she breathed, it simply wasn’t who she was. And Kokichi loved that. He loved how much she cared. He loved how when the others wrote him off and ignored him, she stayed. She dug past the lies and the smiles to find his sorrow and replace it with love.
He couldn’t believe what Monokuma was telling them, and he’s certain nobody else did either. Korekiyo confessed to killing Tenko - (Y/n) would never kill. It wasn’t true, it couldn’t have been.
The only reason she was being targeted was how she brought them all together, and Kokichi’s certain on that.
“It wasn’t me, I’m telling you!” (Y/n) continued denying despite the fact everyone already believed her.
She was truly everything to him.
“Kokichi, you’re awfully quiet! Has despair finally rocked your core?!”
She couldn’t be executed. She didn’t do anything wrong. It was against the rules.
It wasn’t fair.
It’s not how the game is played.
Monokuma’s breaking his own game - it’s not fair, it’s not fair, it’s not fair, it’s not fair.
But… saying something like that would be out of character. It’d be showing vulnerability to everyone when the only person he ever showed that side of himself to was (Y/n).
His heart wrenched, knowing he couldn’t do anything to help her.
“No way,” he locked his hands behind his head, lying to everyone in the room was easy enough, it didn’t usually make him feel guilty, “I just didn’t think my sweet little (Y/n) would kill someone!”
But now the guilt was overwhelming.
“I didn’t! I didn’t do anything wrong, I swear!”
Of course, she didn’t. Kokichi knew that. He wanted the game itself to pause in time so he could hold her and murmur in her ear the reassurances she’d always given him.
“I knew you were too good to be true but wow, this is a shock!”
She was too good to him. She was too good for him.
“Kokichi, you know better than that, I didn’t do anything!”
He should be doing what he can to stop Monokuma. It wouldn’t work. But if he wanted Monokuma to trust that he loved the game, he needed to keep lying.
“No, she’s right,” Shuichi shook his head, banging a hand on his podium in a rare act of rage from the boy, “this doesn’t make any sense!”
Monokuma brought out his infamous gavel. He knew as well as they did that (Y/n) was innocent.
But she was a fan favorite, and a harbinger of hope and love, she had to go to make room for more despair. The editors could piece things together more for coherence later, anyway.
Kokichi felt his body scream at him to move. To grab onto the love he held so dear and never let go. He wanted to. He wanted to more than anything.
But that wasn’t how you played the game.
“Now then, I have prepared a very special punishment for the Ultimate Peacekeeper. It’s punishment time!”
(Y/n)’s eyes widened - it was really happening then. Kokichi was just going to watch as she was carted away to her death.
“Shuichi, please,” she pleaded, tears rising to her eyes and hands clasping together in a begging motion, “you know I didn’t do anything!”
“(Y/n)...”
Heads turned to Kokichi.
“You weren’t boring at all, love.”
He could deal with everyone’s hatred. Their seething glares. Their threats. The loneliness. But he couldn’t deal with the hopelessness in her eyes as her life was robbed.
He loved her. He loved her. He loved her.
Despair gripped him by the neck and wrung out what little joy and life was left inside him, leaving empty nothingness as (Y/n) was left to die for their viewing displeasure.
He would end this game. Not for anybody but her.
Monokuma would pay.
Whoever the mastermind was would pay.
And whoever was watching them through the lens of the cameras would fucking pay - he would be sure of it.

Do you think the cast of Danganronpa v3 is chilling and vibin' in heaven? What happens to Rantaro and Tenko in the afterlife. Do they form a ghost relationship?
˚ᆺ˚
I've...actually never considered-- Um-- OMG YES!!!! AMACHA GHOST/AFTERLIFE AU FTW!!!!!
Or- OR. Instead of waking up the cast asap and shocking their system immediately, Team DR instigated level "limbo" as a way to ease the participants back into their real bodies. Slowly.
OKOKOK
Tenko would definitely be salty at first and seek out vengeance, however, I feel like Kiyo would be in hell due to his crimes but instead let's just say the kids are in limbo whilst the killing game is going on. . . yeah. Like a period of time to ease the deceased back into reality without simply awakening them and rendering them mentally and physically paralysed from the cruel reality they imposed on themselves!
She shakes and throws Kiyo to teach him a lesson whenever she gets close enough. Kaede and Kirumi stop her as much as they can but eventually stop trying due to her incredible persistence and the fact that it doesn't hurt him it's just time-consuming.
She pays no mind to Rantaro and Ryoma, considering they were victims. Excluding the odd degenerate comment here and there. Still harbouring some lingering hostility towards Angie.
She spies on Himiko and is happy to see her loosen up and begin her character arc. But is painfully aware of the fact they might never see each other ever again. She's rooting for her from the bottom of her heart so it's a bittersweet realisation.
Kaede still tries to help Tenko get over her bias, following around Shuichi and dragging Tenko along so she can witness his goodness. Eventually, Kaede gets tired of Tenko tarnishing his name so she turns to Rantaro as a live example. Often catching him being charismatic or really focused on something with that cute expression.
Considering they're probably going to spend eternity together, Rantaro's keen to form a bond. She throws him for being so casual about it. He doesn't mind cuz it's kinda fun. He just floats in a circle and back in front of her. Gravity in limbo is similar to on the moon only they can float. And the windy feeling when her hands brush against his limbs is really cool.
He apologises for not taking her more seriously and reintroduces himself adding, "C'mon, shake my hand, my soul's as transparent as ever," and "I'm not going anywhere Chabashira-san, no point holding a grudge into the afterlife,"
She's very stubborn at first, but considering how peaceful the living cast are, Tenko slowly realises this may potentially be the only people she'll be able to make amends with before passing into...hopefully, heaven.
Angie gets tired of the hostility and says the only way to enter heaven is to make amends. Kaede lies with good intentions, hoping her agreeance will push Tenko in the right direction.
It's a slow process until Miu is found dead. Tenko attempts to cling to the inventor, lacking protective malice as she learns there was no way to harm the searching soul. Miu acts normally and demands some alone time, complaining about Tenko's clingy nature and slips a, "Don't you get it Chabashitstain?! This is why Yusmello ran off with Yonorganism!"
Tenko starts distancing herself after that. Miu is mildly excluded until she makes it up to Tenko. Tenko verbally insists she forgives Miu. Deep down she can't hate a girl, though Angie & Miu were tempting that moral of hers.
Kaede attempts to console Tenko, followed by Kirumi, Angie, Miu, Hoshi then Gonta. But to no anvil. Gonta's pretty good at consoling too but it didn't sway her. She's startled by Gonta so much so, she throws him, along with assumptions of his murderous intent. The girl's groan in unison at her lack of hearing and self-centred nature before filling her in on how Kokichi manipulated the situation.
Tenko began to feel more and more alone despite the growing number of interactivity.
Rantaro grows concerned and bold, attempting a method unused thus far. "Chabashira-san, when you fell off a tree for the first time, did it scare you into trying again?"
"When your Sensei defeated you in a match time and time again, did you falter in challenging him again?" "How does Amami know th--" "Tenko, when you failed to throw your opponent over your shoulder, would you stop there and let the aggressor roam free?" "Of course not! Don't insult Ten--" "Then what's making you give up now??"
Cue Rantaro and his amazing words of conflicting. Being able to gently corner people with what they needed to face. "Don't run away from your emotions. Take your own advice and be honest with yourself. What else is there left for us?"
He reached her when everybody else lacked the knowledge and experience to touch her weeping heart. She starts reinviting herself into open discussions. Progress.
Tenko observes and attempts to understand the boys for the first time ever. She finds herself following Rantaro around the massive campus. Considering he's still trying to piece together the mastermind of such a grand scheme. They bond over their search. She gets to know him. And the other boys due to Rantaro being so friendly and charismatic.
By the time Kokichi joins them she's instinctively distant but Rantaro again has a soft spot for the misunderstood ones. Rantaro's kindness is so large it makes Tenko weak and frustrated. Suddenly, she worries he'll fall into Kokichi's trap. She starts worrying and watching his back silently.
Angie "gets a hint from the Gods" and starts shipping them. After a few funny comments from Angie, Kaede and Kirumi are on board. It's entertaining watching the almighty Aikido master blush, stutter, trip over nothing and float aimlessly despite her persistent walking and attempt to perfect her form.
Kaito quickly jumps on the bandwagon and suddenly their relationship is the most interesting thing that can link the kids to some form of normalcy. It was a good distraction from the pressing matters of the killing game.
Rantaro is none the wiser. However, when Kaede pushes Tenko to befriend Kaito and he notices her genuinely trying to find interest in conversing with the space-enthused boy...he's conflicted. He's proud of watching her progress unfold and honoured he took part in it, yet, feels a pang of tightness when seeing everyone boast about their blossoming friendship.
Considering Rantaro doesn't hear the teasing and gossip about Tenko's potential struggle. And upon noticing Tenko avoiding him oftentimes, he grows jealous. However, this makes the time she spends with him alone willingly, appear all the more special. He appreciates their friendship and confesses one night during training... "You've come a long way in the past month Tenko, I'm very impressed. Be proud of yourself. I know I am."
Somehow, his words make her chest tight. "I'm honoured to call you a friend."
Kokichi "boo"s him, the little eavesdropper. Angie slaps his mouth shut, Kaede scolds him, while Miu continues to embarrass the couple attempting to join their living comrades in their nightly training.
This however starts the tradition of the dead training alongside the living. Being with them in spirit and whatnot.
Tenko's bias dies down a lot in the span of 4 chapters. And when the truth is revealed to the deceased cast in the grand finale. The deceased cast is forced to awaken after Kiibo's blinding sacrifice. Tenko awakens with hasty breaths, demanding to see her friends. All of them. Boys included. Not allowing anything to take them away from her.
If Kirumi's the mum of the group, Tenko's definitely the overprotective big sister once she reaches her character arc.
I like this idea, it brings a little more hope to the despair. Plus I like the idea of them all being friends in the afterlife cuz there's no more threats or stress.

Tough Love
[My Commission Info] | [My Ao3] | [Ko-Fi]

Another lovely anonymous commission, acting as a prequel to this story! Thank you for commissioning me again ♥
Characters: Yandere!Dragon!Shinguji Korekiyo x Boyfriend!Gokuhara Gonta x Reader Words: 3282 Warnings: Yandere, Kidnapping, Threatening, Body distortion
Tumblr media
Gently and mindfully closing the door behind him, Korekiyo took a deep breath. Having brought both of his new humans into their respective rooms, it was now time to wait and see what would happen. He didn’t think of himself as too harsh when he grabbed them off the ground, carrying them off to his castle. But even so, the shock and stress might have caused them to blackout. However, even if there were minor injuries, Korekiyo was confident he could treat them by now. Kiyo’s steps echoed through the silent corridors of the castle, his right hand brushing over the doors lined up on the wall. Everything was prepared and ready for them; there was nothing they’d lack while staying in this castle.
It had taken years for him to become so comfortable with what he was doing, his first few tries having ended in disaster. Never again did he want to repeat what happened, even if that meant he had to be more careful, more prepared, and more distant from his subjects. Part of him wished to be closer to them more than ever. Still, year-long experience had shown that humans and dragons could never coexist peacefully. He would never be able to go into a city without fearing getting speared upon sight, even in his humanoid form. To some degree, he could understand their fear. All of their experiences with dragons had been negative. But at the same time, he had never wanted anything more than to learn from the humans and understand them like no one of his kind had before. Compared to him, humans were so fragile and easily withered, like flowers in the winter. And Kiyo was the frost, yearning for sunny days.
Perhaps this time, it would be different, seeing that there were two of them. His previous studies had shown that connections between humans were vital for their well-being. At the same time, his presence as a dragon didn’t seem to have the same influence on them. They wouldn’t accept his companionship or love, no matter how well or bad he treated them. But now that he had the chance to observe what it was like, perhaps he’d be able to use it in the future as well. It would be interesting to see and compare those two to the knowledge he had acquired so far about singular humans, even if it would take time and patience - two things he had plenty of. Nonetheless, he knew he couldn’t be too lenient with them. Too many had opposed him before; he couldn’t risk losing these two because he was growing soft. Tough love, that’s what the humans called it, right?
It would be exactly what he’d use on them.
Tumblr media
Your head was still throbbing when you opened your eyes. It didn’t come as a surprise, but it was awful nonetheless. No one liked waking up feeling like shit. Warm sunlight shone upon you as you turned over in your soft bed, clutching your sides when you felt the sharp pain left on you after being grabbed by a dragon. Had you been rescued? Were you even alive? The images were still vivid in your mind; the chaos, the screams, and Gonta’s hand holding yours as you two were running away.
Gonta!
Sitting up straight, you instantly regretted being hasty. Of course, your body couldn’t keep up with the sudden movements after all that happened, but your mind grew frantic as you thought about your boyfriend. Straining your eyes, you made out the layout of the unfamiliar room you were in, furrowing your brows as the questions in your head multiplied. It was a nice room, probably the nicest one you had ever seen in your life. Finely crafted amenities, vivid colors, and pristine conditions - just like what you’d imagine a fairytale would look like. Where were you? What happened after you blacked out? Was Gonta taken too? Had someone rescued you and put you in this room so you could recover? Looking down at you, you still had your usual clothes on you, even if they were sullied with dirt. Why would someone put you in such a fancy bed this way?
It almost made you feel bad to sit in the clean white sheets with your dirty clothes, but it wasn’t the time to worry about how hard it would be to wash the stains out of the sheets. You lifted your legs off the mattress, trying to stand up, feeling the backlash of being knocked out. Even though it felt weird and a bit painful, you could determine with relief that nothing was broken. Taking weak steps, you made your way towards the exit of your room to call out to someone, ask what was going on. And maybe, find the one person you wanted to be held by most.
The door swung open quickly as you pushed the handle, no pulling or tearing like you were used to from the sometimes stuck doors all around your village. Everything seemed so immaculate. It was almost intimidating. Stepping out, you found yourself in a long hallway filled with doors. Paintings hung from the walls of places you had never seen. Even if you guessed before that this was no small house, you were still amazed by how endless it seemed to be. However, even if there were traces of living - books and plants decorating the hall - you couldn’t see anyone. “H-Hello?” you asked, your voice hoarse from screaming so much when the dragon captured you.
No response.
Overcome with a weird feeling when no one answered you, you tried again without success. A mansion as big as this should have servants running around, right? Meeting anyone would calm the anxious rumbling in your stomach, but this way, you didn’t know where to go or what to do first. Suddenly, you heard the sound of heavy footsteps approach you from the front, and you noticed the intricately decorated door. Before you could step up to it, it swung open, revealing a very familiar face. The shudder of your name fell of Gonta’s lips before he hugged you tightly, and you sunk into his arms while a heavy stone fell off your shoulders. “I’m so glad you’re alright,” he sighed, relieved, sniffling a little.
It took a while before you two could let go of each other, but you were so thankful for feeling his warmth, knowing he really was there with you. No matter how strange and scary the situation had seemed at first, knowing you weren’t alone made everything better. “Do you… still remember anything that happened after… you know?” you asked as you separated from him, and Gonta’s expression turned apologetic as he shook his head. “It’s okay,” you whispered, reaching up to caress his cheek. Gonta gave a heavy sigh as he leaned into your affection, and you could feel how relieved he was too. “I thought… I really thought…” he mumbled, his face twitching in pain.
“Shh, it’s okay.” You didn’t want him to think about these things. About the ‘what if’s and the ‘could have been’. Hell, you didn’t even want to think about these things yourself, and you knew that they’d only cause you both suffering. All that mattered was that you were reunited and a little less lonely in your confusion.
It came as a surprise when a sudden clap interrupted your moment of togetherness, and you looked to where it was coming from alerted. It was strange, and you hadn’t noticed anyone before, but a little down the hallway, the figure of a man was sitting on a delicate white bench, a closed book in hand. He slowly looked up, your eyes crossing. Never before had you seen such a pristine-looking human, very different energy coming from him. Having spent all your life in your village, you found it hard to discern if this was simply the aura of a noble or something else entirely.
“I am glad to see you woke up,” he spoke as he stood up from the little bench located between two doors. “I was worried about you two.”
“Where- Where are we?” was the first question on your mind, your hand gripping a bit tighter into Gonta’s shirt as the man approached.
“My castle. Your home,” was the curt answer you received, however, the man didn’t stop walking, eventually passing the both of you who stepped out of the way respectfully. “What do you mean?” you replied, but the man kept walking down the long corridor as if he had heard nothing.
“You may explore as much as you want. I hope it will be to your liking,” the man stated, finally coming to a halt in front of one of the many doors, opening it before giving a short glance back towards you and Gonta and ultimately disappearing inside what laid behind. You heard the click of a lock as the door closed and looked at Gonta helplessly. “What did he mean?”
However, Gonta didn’t have an answer for that either. “I’m not sure, but Gonta doesn’t like it…”
You had to agree with your boyfriend, who seemed to grow more anxious by the second. Taking his hand in yours, you squeezed it reassuringly before suggesting, “Let’s look around, maybe we’ll find a way out,” and he nodded, giving you a squeeze back.
Tumblr media
Many doors wouldn’t budge as you tried to open them, but the few rooms you were able to enter didn’t help you two much on your pursuit for a way out. One led to a long banquet hall, only containing a seemingly endless table surrounded by more chairs than you could count. Another one hosted more books than anyone would ever be able to read in a lifetime. As wondrous as it was, all of these rooms didn’t help soothe your own anxiety, much less Gonta’s. It became more evident with every passing chance that something was wrong, even if neither of you wanted to admit it. You just held hands tighter, hoping that the next door would be the key to go outside.
“Look!” Gonta called out as you searched through the office you two had stumbled upon. Perhaps it was just your own desperation, but you wanted there to be something in here to help, even if it was just a key for one of the locked doors or a map of the layout of the ‘castle’ you were in. But even after skipping through the books, some too hard to read and in questionable languages, there were no clues left behind that would point to your whereabouts. As if this place was isolated from everything. Stepping up to Gonta, he pushed away the curtain for you, big windows being revealed behind them.
“Oh…” you gasped as you looked outside, seeing how high up you two were. It might not have been an exaggeration after all when the man told you it was his castle, considering there was a tall defense wall surrounding the building and endless fields of gold-shimmering wheat surrounding it. Inside the walls, you could only see the flourishing gardens lying beneath, decorated by colorful flowers and a small river bed winding through it. Just like everything inside the castle, it was astonishingly beautiful with flowers you had never seen before, but it didn’t deter you two from the main point of interest.
“That’s… a big wall,” Gonta mumbled thoughtfully, and you agreed with a shake of your head. Not only was it tall, it also consisted of firm, solid blocks of stone, without even a hint of aging on them. Of course, you couldn’t tell how good the condition of the outside of the wall was, but just from looking at the inside, you figured it would be hard to find a nick in it. “Do you see an exit somewhere?” you asked, stretching your neck to look as far as possible in hopes of seeing a tower or the huge gats you imagined castle walls to have.
“There is none,” a voice rang out from behind, and you turned around, startled to see the same mysterious man from before approach. Neither of you had heard the door open, and yet here he was as if he appeared from nothing. “When my humans kept trying to get out of the castle, I put a boulder in front of the exit. Now, only I can come and leave as I please.”
“Who are you?” you yelled at him, standing protectively in front of Gonta, who flinched when you raised your voice. However, the man’s words rang alarm bells in your head, and the bad feeling you had before intensified. Something about him wasn’t right. Even if it was just a slight difference, he didn’t appear as human as you would have liked him to be. Especially now that you got a better look at him, your gaze clearer than when you had just woken up, he simply felt off to you.
“I am…” His voice trailed off as he hesitated to finish the sentence, bringing a finger to his lips in contemplation before shaking his head almost as if he was disappointed. “Have you not thought about it yet? Very well, I shall tell you then. I am who brought you here. You may call me Korekiyo.”
“Brought us… here?” you muttered, the sudden grip on your shoulder startling you, and you looked back at Gonta, who was shaking as if he had seen a ghost. Oh, you realized, your eyes widening in shock and surprise as you gasped, “The dragon!” before quickly covering your mouth with your hand.
“What-” you croaked, as you were left speechless momentarily. You felt your pulse quickening, but having Gonta behind you gave you back some strength and composure to not panic. In the very worst case, you two would make a run for it. Even Gonta knew how to act quickly, and his strength would not be useless when trying to get out. The only important thing was that you two stuck together no matter what. You could make it if you were together.
“What do you want from us?!” you yelled accusatory, brushing your hand over Gonta’s on your shoulder in comfort for both of you. “Why did you bring us here?! I- I demand to be let go, right now!”
“Why would I?” was the man’s - dragon’s? - simply answer, and he stepped forward, effectively cornering you two between the window and the office table. “You’re here to keep me company, and I can’t wait-” Holding out his hand, you saw it coming too close to comfort to your face, making you flinch away from it and bringing you and Gonta into a backwards stumble. “-to see how you’ll do,” he finished his speech, leaving you none the wiser. His hand remained in the air for a moment longer before the dragon curled it into a fist, taking another step forward.
“We’ll get out!” you announced. You had no plan and no idea how you’d manage such a deed, but neither would you accept whatever your captor planned for you two so ominously.
A strange gleam appeared in the dragon’s eyes as you spoke rashly about your plans, and with another step, he was in front of you. Perhaps it was just a trick of your eyes, but you thought to see him change as you looked at him, a wave of shimmering scales erupting from his skin before disappearing again and his face deforming briefly into a much more grotesque form. It left you speechless until you felt both of Gonta’s hands clawing into your shoulders before he pulled you away while another hand wrapped around your chin.
“Don’t forget at whose mercy you are.”
He was so close now that you could feel his hot breath against your skin, your body instinctively starting to shiver. Even if you pretended to be strong and courageous, your subconscious knew better as to not fear the predator in front of you. Even if his fingers were soft, claws were protruding from his nails, and his grip was merciless. It resembled when he grabbed you and dragged you off as a full-fledged dragon before you lost consciousness, a memory you’d rather not remember.
Gonta was the one to break you two apart, his arm wrapping around you as he pulled you back and close against him in an effort to protect you. You couldn’t see his face, but with how desperately he was holding on to you, you realized that he was beyond worried after witnessing this exchange. There was only a small gap between you and the dragon now, but his touch did not linger as he looked up at Gonta, who quickly began to stammer an apology. “We- We won’t! So please…”
It was unclear if this satisfied the dragon, but he let off, crossing his arms behind his back again. “As long as you know how you should behave, it’s fine.”
Way too quickly, the dragon composed himself, not even heaving a heavy sigh despite the displeasure of being confronted by you. The deformities you thought to witness stopped, as well as the shimmering gleam of scales. He was almost back to looking like a ‘normal’ human, despite being the farthest lifeform from it. “You may explore the open rooms and sleep in the ones you woke up. Or share them, I don’t mind. I’m sure you’ll find the amenities quite comfortable and interesting, but do let me know if you need anything.”
Turning on his heel, he seemed unbothered to turn his back to you, even though you were seething with the desire to ram something into his vulnerable body at that moment. Part of you was scared, but the other was angry and confused, wondering what would happen and why you were here in the first place. If only… you hadn’t survived. Maybe it would have been better that way.
But you couldn’t think like this. Not when there was another person who needed you.
Supported by Gonta’s arms, you tried to stand on your wobbly feet alone when the dragon suddenly turned around to you again to add something to his words, making you flinch as his piercing gaze fell on you especially again. “Make sure you come when I call,” he spoke demandingly, with no room to argue. This was an absolute order, one you wished you could ignore, but it only amplified the fear inside you.
When the door finally closed behind Korekiyo, you collapsed, unable to keep your composure as tears of shock filled your eyes. Gonta sunk to the ground with you. The only comfort he could offer was holding you tightly in his embrace, his head dropping on top of yours. At least for a little bit, you could hide inside his arms, but a million questions kept coming while you tried to calm down. You wished you could just go to bed and sleep, the nightmare finally being over when you opened your eyes again. But Gonta’s warmth reminded you this was no dream, only making you more agitated.
“What do we do now,” Gonta muttered into your hair, and you were so desperate to give him a positive answer, for a moment, you managed to lie to yourself.
“We’ll find a way. Maybe… maybe he’ll just let us go after a bit.”
It was the best you could do, but a lie nonetheless. You didn’t know what would happen, but the only thing you have in this situation was hope.
Hope that it wouldn’t be as bad as the scenarios playing in your head.

DRV3 Pet name Headcanons
Shuichi Saihara
Near the beginning of the relationship, he would be extremely shy and just use your name.
But further in, he would call you "my love," or "dear"
His face would be bright red every time you ever call him a silly, or cheesy nickname.
Or some dumb nickname like like "My little sushi"
He hates that he loves them
Rantaro Amami
To be honest, he was probably calling you cute nicknames before you two were even dating
Any variation of "doll" would be his regulars
But during your special, romantic moments, "my angel" or "sweetheart" would be his go-to
Any nickname is fine with him, he would usually not give a reaction unless it's a cute one
He gives you a little chuckle and a ruffle to your hair
Kokichi Oma
This little shit gives you the dumbest nicknames
"My little panta"
Or "egg roll"
He gives you a shit eating grin every single damn time
Call him "baby" or "baby" and he melts
Or "My Ultimate Supreme Leader" will give him a huge boost to his already huge ego.
Kaito Momota
This is pretty self explanatory
He'll call you his "shining star"
Anything space related, he would jump on any moment to use it
Sometimes he even calls you his sidekick
If you call him anything, he would have the biggest grin, and would scoop you into his arms and crush you
Kiibo
To be honest, he would just simply call you by your first name most of the time
"Why would I call you a pet name? You're a human!"
Inform him on what a pet name is, and he'd start to use them!!
Sweetheart, honey, dear would be what he uses the most
Only because you're so sweet!!
If you use any on him, he'd probably overheat and shut down
Korekiyo Shinguji
He would absolutely call you his "perfect human"
Because everything you do, is absolutely perfect.
He'd call you beautiful as well, just to remind you that you're amazing
He would prefer to not be called any names, but Kiyo would be fine with him
Gonta Gokuhara
Bless his heart, he'll call you his little love bug
Any delicate bug or flower would be his favourite a
Sunflower, ladybug, love bug, butterfly, you name it
If you call him "my cute sunflower" back, he'd melt
Of course he'll have to be the gentleman, but every once and awhile, he'd like to be pampered with your love

The Odds of Us All
Special CH1: A Glance At The Past (the one where Sakusa meets Y/n)
Tumblr media
Okay so this chapter takes place right before Y/n’s first year of high school! I wanted to write more Sakusa within the “The Odds of Us All” AU but it’s not my dudes time to shine yet :( So here we are, I’m going to write about the time Y/n met Kiyo ahahhaha. Enjoy my fellow Sakusa simps ;)
*technically this can be read as a stand alone one shot but why would you only settle for that when you can read the series?
“Y/n, I know you want to stick by Tetsuro and Kenma... but you seriously need to consider your future. Eventually you’ll have to separate from them, don’t let your history hold you back in the past.” M/n Ushijima, Y/n’s competent and straight forward mother advised, gazing at her daughter with a knowing stare. At the moment the h/c girl was looking through a long lists of high schools she had the options of attending. Her top four options were Fukurodani Academy, Shiratorizawa Academy, Itachiyama Institute, and Nekoma High.
Fukurodani was a good option, they had a focus on subjects like Japanese and English literature, as well as history and art. While Nekoma High’s more favored subjects were the STEM courses, and they even had a bonus of being the chosen high school of her childhood friends, Kuroo and Kenma. These two were the cheapest options- neither of them being a private academy like the other two.
Itachiyama Institute was probably the place her mother wanted her to attend, they were renowned for their excellent college prep classes, exceptional sports teams, and high rate of graduating students getting into Imperial Universities (Japan’s Ivy League basically). Shiratorizawa Academy was all the way in Miyagi- but they had a dorm that she could stay in. There was also the fact that she was guaranteed an invitation from the headmaster himself, due to the Ushijima family’s children studying there as per tradition. Her cousin Wakatoshi also attended the school, as expected of him, if she chose to follow his lead she was guaranteed friends and a good time also.
Choosing a high school was hard- especially when her mother was pushing her in one direction, only to backtrack and say that she would support her no matter what school she wanted to attend. Y/n briefly wondered what it’d be like when deciding on a university in the future- however those thoughts were far from pleasant so she shook them off.
“I... don’t know mom.” M/n looked at her daughter long and hard, releasing a soft sigh before pulling out her phone and tapping away.
“How about you take Itachiyama’s entrance exams and see if you at least qualify? Any other school on this list will accept you as a student in a heartbeat. At least this way you’ll know if Itachiyama is even an option for you.”
You blinked, considering her words, they made sense so you agreed.
“Great, the entrance exams are this Sunday, I’ll drop you off then.”
~Time skip to Sunday, location: Itachiyama Institute~
You had finally finished the god awful tests. It had taken an excruciating three hours of your time to complete and your brain felt like literal mush. Stomach rumbling, you made your way to one of the vending machines you remembered passing by earlier. One thing you were glad for was the location of the exams- right in the administration wing of the school- naturally, the heads of the place had access to the best snacks. You walked silently, eyes gazing at the ceiling, not paying attention to anything but the fluorescent lights. Rounding the hallway corner, your eyes fell to the end of the hall- where the vending machine was located. Humming a small tune you continued your leisure stroll, fishing through your pocket for your credit card. After retrieving it you purchased a mini chocolate cake (that looked more like a brownie than anything), white chocolate matcha cookie, and a tiny cup sized bottle of milk tea. As the transaction was going through, you picked up on approaching footsteps and people’s voices.
“Apologies *indistinguishable*-san I simply must take this phone call. There’s a vending machine around the corner, would you please wait for me there?” An adult said, heavy footsteps receding, a door opened, then shut. You turned back to the task of collecting your snacks.
“Is this what I think it is?” A noticeably younger sounding male’s voice asked, barely audible. You vaguely wondered what was going on over there, before promptly setting your food on a nearby chair, pulling out your hand sanitizer and applying it swiftly. As you contemplated what snack to indulge yourself with first, you were deaf to the incoming footsteps and soft gasp from behind you.
“But if I ate the cake I might accidentally spill crumbs in the hallway... maybe the cookie’s a better idea?” You wondered, pocketing your sanitizer, still oblivious to the boy behind you. “Hmm...”
“Uhh... excuse me?” That voice from earlier called out, startling you. You whipped around, only to make eye contact with pretty onyx eyes, the color of warm coal and cooled lava rock. His entire being was outlined in a highlighter yellow- it was kind of fitting, having matched the schools signature colors.
‘Woah my soulmate’s actually kinda hot,’ you thought to yourself, taking in the boys appearance. Wavy black hair, two moles above his right eye, you couldn’t see the rest of his face- since it was obscured by a white face mask. He was perhaps 5′11- but something told you he was on the cusp of a growth spurt. So caught up in your musings you hadn’t noticed that you had accidentally voiced your thoughts out loud. “Thank god he’s not an old man.”
“...Is that supposed to be a compliment?” Mr. Highlighter questioned, staring at you incredulously.
“Oh no did I say that out loud? I am so sorry- I swear I didn’t mean too!” You exclaimed before bowing in apology, cheeks hot with embarrassment. Sometimes you spoke whatever was on your mind- a bad habit you were currently working hard on breaking.
“...” He didn’t say anything, still looking at you judgingly. Internally he was wondering why he was destined to be with someone like you. “Sakusa.”
“Huh?” You straightened back up, wide eyed.
“My name’s Sakusa Kiyoomi... this is the part where you’re supposed to introduce yourself.” Uh oh ‘Sakusa’ sounded a tad bit irritated with you now. His name sounded familiar somehow... but you didn’t quite know why.
“R-right! My name’s Ushijima Y/n!” You smiled nervously, awaiting his reaction. He looked pleasantly surprised at that.
“Ushijima? Like Ushijima Wakatoshi?” Your smile dwindled slightly at his choice of words. Of course he was excited- not because he met you- but because he was able to use you to meet Toshi.
“Yeah... he’s actually my first cousin.” Attempting to keep the conversation flowing you asked “are you a volleyball fan?”
Unbeknownst to you, Kiyoomi noticed how you reacted when he asked about Wakatoshi, so he decided to avoid that topic for now.
“Mm... I’m actually a player. That’s what I’m here for... I was scouted for the volleyball team.” He says it so nonchalantly, as if he wasn’t sought out to join the best high school boys team in the entire country.
You’re just as impressed as he hoped thought you’d be, all starry eyed and mouth open in awe. “Scouted? That’s amazing Sakusa!” He’s pleasantly surprised that you forgoed the honorifics, but a tad bit disappointed at your use of his surname. “You must be very skilled- I’m only here because I had to take the entrance exams.”
“How were they?” He finds himself blurting out softly, it’s uncharacteristic of him- not that you could know that- but he finds that he doesn’t mind being a bit forward when it comes to you. Despite not usually being one for conversation, he doesn’t want this chat to end.
“Mm they were okay I guess... but the math portion was pretty difficult.” Speaking about the hard exams remind you about how hungry they made you and your stomach gurgles in response. Behind his mask, Kiyoomi’s lips quirk at the abashed expression you make- which disappears once you wave it off with a laugh and a brief apology. “Want a cookie? Or a cake?” You question, nodding over to your waiting snacks. He shakes his head. It feels almost invasive as he watches you unwrap your cookie- noticing the care you take in making sure your fingers only touch the wrapper, not wanting to touch the cookie itself, lest you get crumbs on your hands. But you dont look uncomfortable at his weird interest, so he continues to stare. “I can buy you a snack? What do you like to eat?”
“It’s fine, I have money.” The dark haired male pats his pocket, “I like umeboshi... anything with umeboshi.” Those enchanting e/c orbs flit over to him once more and he discovers that you’re probably the only person that could stare at him endlessly without making him uncomfortable. This thought scares him- he doesn’t even know you- he shouldn’t be thinking such things. You’re tapping away at the vending machines, cookie having been finished and trash tossed in a bin nearby. He assumes you’re just buying another snack for yourself.
“Here... is ume daifuku good?” You question, holding it out to him with one hand, while your other one reaches back into the dispenser part of the machine and retrieves a can of matcha tea. “Delivery for one!” The smile adorning your lips sends a pleasant feeling throughout his body, normal tendencies forgotten, he accepts your offer.
“Thank you... can I pay you back? I don’t have cash on me at the moment, but maybe another time?” He pockets the canned tea and holds the daifuku in one hand, allowing you to spurt some hand sanitizer on his empty one. You shake your head, h/c hair swinging, his heart sinks in his chest- rejection overcoming him.
“Don’t even think about paying me back Sakusa... but we can meet up again... maybe off of school grounds?” A shy look overtakes your features and he can feel his heart picking itself up off the floor and taking flight at how cute you are.
“I... wouldn’t be opposed.”
“Great, let’s keep in touch then! What’s your number? I’ll text you!” He tells you his number, watching as you type it into your phone quickly.
“Say cheese!” You twirl around holding the camera up so that it focuses on Kiyoomi’s tall figure, your head poking in at the corner of the screen. He doesn’t do much- the only noticeable change in his demeanor is the *very* slightly shocked look on his face (you can tell by the wide stretch of his eyes). He licks his lips behind his mask and looks as if he wants to say something, but he doesn’t get the chance.
“Sorry about that Sakusa let’s continue the tour- hm am I interrupting something?” The headmasters voice says from the end of the hallway, he’s pleased to see the two of you together. Both being the children of very influential people- it bode well for the school if you kids got along.
“No, we’re good thank you... I’ll talk to you later Ushijima.”
“Call me Y/n, Sakusa! I’ll text you okay?”
The headmaster walks off, expecting Sakusa to follow. As he passes you he says one last thing.
“You can call me Kiyoomi then.”

A/N: Hey, hey! @herr-aka-somecutenerd, here if your 1st place prize of 1 personalized oneshot! Enjoy ^^
Warning(s): Smut, oral, rough sex, him calling you “dear, “darling”, I don’t know Kiyo’s character that well, so I hope I did him good!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“… dear?”
You whipped your head around to the familiar voice. Korekiyo calling out to you while pulling on his mask.
“You’ve been zoning out lately. Is something the matter?” He asked. A little concerned. Your lovely boyfriend wanted to make this trip as romantic as possible, of course.
Chuckling, you got up from the cushy bed and went over to him, opening the door for you.
“It’s nothing, Kiyo. You said you wanted to do something today?”
“Yes!” He cheered. Making his way out the doors of the lovely hotel. “A day full of things I’m positive you’ll enjoy, love.”
It was clear enough how excited he was about his plans. So you never really thought much of it. He guided you out and grabbed hold of your hand.
“If you say so. Take me wherever you please, Korekiyo.” You giggled.
This was gonna be an interesting ride…
——
Holy smokes… what an experience.
To say that he was romantic was an understatement to the third degree. He was the perfect gentleman from beginning to end.
Gave you pure passion, not just the sheets.
And topped it off with the sweet nothings that escaped his covered lips.
You couldn’t deny the obvious blush and non-stop giggles that came from those sweet gestures. Once you returned to your hotel room, you started to imagine the night he would bestow upon you.
“So… is this is the end of the night?”
You asked, with dreamy, lovestruck eyes.
“Or is there more excitement to come?~”
He laughed under his breath, slipping off his black coat he wore for the whole day. You blushed deeply.
“You read my mind, dear…”
He hopped onto the bed and went on top of you, holding you down by the wrists by his slim, pretty hands.
Your breathing started increasing as you started to feel more anxious about what's about to come.
The mask he wore slip off, reaching down to kiss you on your lips. You accepted the deep kiss he initiated, placing your hand behind his head.
This romantic mood from Korekiyo was quite unusual for him. As he was quite shy with romance and such.
But with the amazing hotel that you were staying at, he had to step out of his comfort zone for his darling. Kiyo continued down to your neck, his sloppy kisses turning into sucking.
His hands slipped down to your t-shirt and jewelry. Putting it gently aside and slipping off your clothing.
“My goodness, you're so beautiful…”
He continued with your pants and stared at your beautiful body. To him, you being chubby meant there was more of you for him to love.
“May I… have the permission to ravage you?”
Oh, my goodness-
Could he be any more sweet!?
You huffed out and nodded- completely unprepared for what he would do.
Slowly, his slick tongue entered and let itself inside your quivering cunt. You gasped at his quick moments and action he was doing.
You’re heavy panting mixed with the lustful moans and groans could have wakes up the entire town.
After making you orgasm, he went first for the final stage.
Pulling down his dark pants, and his white boxers, he revealed his hardened cock. Ready to “pounce” and take you at this very moment.
“My dear… you truly are the most beautiful piece of humanity I’ve ever seen. So innocent… so sweet.”
He slowly entered himself into your quivering cunt.
Continuing with the sweet words, he picked up the pace minute by minute. A sense of dizziness coming over you.
“S’too much- AH!” You gasped, while he kept exploring every inch of you.
A beast could not describe this man when he’s hungry…
It didn’t take long for him to pull out and come on your hot and sweaty body. Flopping down on the bed with a loud ‘thump!’
“That was.. quite a night… wouldn’t you say, dear?” He questioned through the furious panting.
You simply nodded, too tired to respond to him.
But yes, it was quite the different night you weren’t expecting. More… vanilla and romantic.
“I thought I’d never see this side of you. I enjoyed it a lot…”
You proclaimed, making him dryly chuckle. Taking you in his long arms. Korekiyo was quite shy with love, but he would do anything for his darling.

Korekiyo Shinguuji x oblivious crush reader - short imagine
Request: could i request some headcanons or an imagine (whichever you prefer, i’m not picky lol) for Korekiyo with a crush on an incredibly oblivious female reader who never realizes he’s trying to flirt with her/trying to see if she likes him back? sorry if this is a weird request haha :,)
THIS ISN’T A WEIRD REQUEST, KIYO IS MY BABY DADDY. Also you requested female reader, but I wrote this with a female in mind and then realized I never used any feminine-assigned words or pronouns in here, so anyone can read this with themselves in mind! - Mod Kokichi
Warnings: PG-13 in terms of sexual/romantic scenarios and wording
“So, in essence, that is why the Egyptians worshipped Hathor, in all her grace and beauty. Isn’t that fascinating, y/n?” Korekiyo mused, watching you carefully as you waltzed through the rows of scrolls and ancient texts in his research lab.
“Yes, it’s a wonderful story! You really are lucky to have traveled to Eygpt! Heck, I’d never even left Japan until...well coming to wherever we are trapped now. Do you mind?” You pointed to a particularly intricate and elaborate book cover on a high up shelf.
“Not at all, my dear. Feel free to take any materials from my lab that you wish, as long as you promise I can visit your lab freely as well?” You let the words ‘my dear’ ghost over your ears with little to no reaction. Normally, if such a handsome man had playfully rolled those words off of his tongue in your direction, your neck hairs would have stood on end like a startled cat, but with Korekiyo it was different. You did harbor some...feelings for him, but he called everyone dear, right? He was always spewing mature and polite crap like that.
“Yeah, of course, though I don’t know why an anthropologist would ever waste his time in a plain old dance studio,” you chuckled, on your tip-toes struggling for the tome far above you. Korekiyo snuck up behind you, his chest warm against your back as he reached up and plucked the book down for you, placing it gently in your hands. You held the book to your own chest and turned to face him, finding yourself flush against the wooden bookshelf with the lanky anthropologist trapping you in place. “Thanks, Kiyo!” You felt blood rush to your cheeks as he tilted his head at you like a curious puppy hearing the word ‘treat!’ You tried to settle your stuttering heart. Surely he was just being nice, right?
“Think nothing of it…” his hands came up slowly on either side of your head, caging you in between his slender arms. “You know, y/n, Hathor is known mainly for her impressive duality. She balances femininity and softness with strength and vengeance. She is a protector, but also is the harbinger of dance, joy, love...sexuality.” His voice deepened into a rasp that was like melted chocolate flowing freely over your ears. His proximity was beginning to make you dizzy. “You remind me of Hathor in many ways. I see the way you take care of your friends here, the way you defend people, but also the with which you dance: the water-like movements of your passion.”
“...” you stood there, silent for a moment, and then another moment, and then another. He looked at your expectantly, his expression unreadable through his mask. “Well, thanks, Kiyo! I never thought you’d be into ballet! Though I guess dance is a part of culture as much as anything else!” You ducked under his arm with a chipper attitude, shuffling into the open space of his lab, and he sighed deeply, looking at the ground in self-pity. Were you really not interested in him? He couldn’t blame you. Many people saw him as a creep, a pariah. He was a teenager that wore a mask at all times for crying out loud. He endlessly spewed random facts and unsolicited folk tales. Of course people avoided him. But you...you visited him every day. Before his lab opened up, you met with him in the library and inquired about his day. You asked him to eat lunch with you, and walk you back to the dorms after dinner. You asked to hear his stories, and he found himself growing to like you more and more. He didn’t want to admit his feelings until he knew for sure that you felt the same, but it was looking like his old friend, rejection, might win the war once again.
“Kiyo, this lab is simply amazing! You’re so lucky... you got the biggest one yet! My studio looks like a janitor’s closet compared to this!” You spun around on the new floor on his lab, taking in the sights, book in hand. You’d been here every day since it opened, but dedicated yourself to one section a day, having only reached this floor earlier that evening. You thought knowledge like this deserved time and respect. Korekiyo agreed of course.
“Well when one’s area of study is the entire world, a proportionately large area is needed for said study,” he drawled, slinking along behind you as you sat in a chair on the main floor. He sat in the chair across from you in front of the wall of display cases holding ceremonial swords and masks as you fingered through the book in wonder.
     “Woah…” your eyes widened innocently.
“Ahhh, the Kama Sutra? You’re holding one of the oldest copies known to man.” He leaned closer to you, splaying his fingers over the page you were on slowly and seductively. “I had no idea you were this kind of person, y/n…” there’s that confectionary tone again, sweet and dripping with carnal desire.
“N-no of course not I just...what kind of person do you mean? I mean...I think the book is just interesting, the cover and the design on the spine drew me in and-“
“We should never judge a book based on its cover, yes?” He let his honeyed-words sink in to your doe-like eyes, “I think human beings, much like this book, hide things within our pages not immediately evident on our covers.”
“I agree…” his words flew right over your head. “Like you! I didn’t know you had an interest in ballet at all!” He was starting to get frustrated, but he exhaled deeply, his inner voice telling him to have patience.
“Well, yes, I’ve seen many different forms of dance, and of course, ballet is delicate and breath-taking, but also very strenuous. Another thing we shouldn’t take at face value. I’ve seen the feet of many a poor dancer after a performance, and it really is a harsh contrast to the grace of the dance itself.”
“Yes, yes! You get it!” He smiled at your child-like wonder, with you seeing only the crinkle of his eyes above the mask. “I know so many men who don’t even think dance of any kind can be a sport. I think many so-called atheletes would give up on day one of ballet lessons.” You chuckled, and he let himself be enveloped in your laughter. He was complete entranced in your aura.
“So, you will allow me to view your ballet practice in private some time? I’ve seen you with your lab door open in passing, but I would be absolutely delighted if you’d honor me with a private session, so I could focus on you and only you.” He leaned forward, his elbows on his knees, his long raven hair falling around him like a bed canopy.
“Oh, Kiyo…” you began, your own heart hurting at the words you were about the speak, but it was for the best. You didn’t want to waste his time, not in a place like this. “I know you’re interested in ballet, but after those first two trials and this whole not-knowing-when-we-are-gonna-die thing, I don’t think it would be a worthy use of your time to pull yourself away from all of this,” you gestured to the gigantic room around you, “in order to-”
“Y/N-!” He spoke angrily and abruptly, startling you, before composing himself and beginning again, taking the book from your hand and instead intertwining his fingers in your own. “...I am not interested in ballet, so much as I am interested in you. Do you understand?” You felt your body tense up in complete shock. He wasn’t serious right…? He was teasing you, taking advantage of your naïveté and your obvious feelings for him. Maybe you weren’t hiding them as well as you’d thought.
“Me…?” You looked at his wrapped hand in yours, the bandages scratchy texture pulling you back down to earth.
“Yes, you.” He spoke bluntly, with nothing but compassion in his voice.
“But you’re...you’re so…” he braced himself, waiting for the insults and degrading comments that always followed when he let his walls down around normal people.
“...Odd? Long-winded? A freak of nature?” He sighed, pulling away.
“Beautiful…” you could hardly hear your own words pouring from your mouth, the pounding of your heart beat too loud in your ears. You grabbed his hand, and in a moment of fragile silence, began to unwrap the linen that covered every inch of his fingers, then down to his palms and wrists. His hands, now revealed to you fully for the first time, were just as beautiful as his voice and cat-like golden eyes. They were pale, ghostly, ethereal. They looked like they could break at the slightest touch, but withstand any hard labor that was thrown at them at the same time. “Korekiyo, you spend so much time telling others that humanity is beautiful, that you haven’t taken the time to see it in yourself, have you? At least...not for a long while.”
“Y/N, I-” you reached for the top of his mask with shaking fingers, and he jerked away roughly, terrified. When you reached out again, he didn’t move, steeling himself to be exposed to you. You deserved to see the truth. His eyelids fluttered closed, and his heart dropped into his stomach.
Your fingertips lingered at the top of the mask before tugging it down gently. He kept his eyes shut tightly as you observed his full face.
The tip of his nose, which you could tell from the nose bridge was thin, came to an adorable point above his lips. A delicate, milky white chin led up on either side to a sharp jawline, high cheekbones and a flawless complexion. That powdery complexion was met in stark contrast to the blood-red pigment of a matte lipstick staining his lips.
“Y/N, I didn’t want you to see me...truly see me for the first time like thi-” you brought your lips closer to his until they were touching, and soon found yourself leaning into his chest, into his lap in his seated position in front of you. Your lips pressed into his, a bit more bold now, and your confidence spurred his own. You now straddled his hips, your legs on either side of his thighs, and he grabbed your hips, his hands shaking like a leaf in the wind. He pulled back, scanning your face for any regret, any shame or fear, and sensing none, crashed his lips onto yours again. He roughly sucked on your bottom lip, pulling a small moan from your mouth that excited him more than anything corporeal had in a long time. You never thought he’d be such a good kisser.
“Korekiyo…” you pulled back again, giving you both some much-needed air. “I never thought that...someone like you would even glance my way. You’re so intelligent, so regal and elegant and different from the norm and…” your words trailed off, and his thumb reached up to your lips, roughly wiping away the red lipstick that clung onto your face as a reminder that he had been there.
“Likewise, y/n,” he reclined back into the chair with you still on his lap, a little too cocky and cheeky for his own good, but to say the smirk on his messy red mouth wasn’t turning you on would be a lie.

Korekiyo, Rantaro and Nagito x SHSL Scam Artist who gets attached to people easily
Korekiyo Shinguji:
·       Upon entering the room Kiyo found you face flat on your desk, the only light illuminating you the single lamp beside you. “Did the plan not follow through? One of your partners abandoned the project?” “no.” “… You got the money but got attached to the owner?” “We got the money, but I got attached to the owner.” Kiyo stood beside you, placing a hand on your back, gently rubbing it. “Well, many consider casinos to be scams so you just out scamed a scam.” “Yeah… but the owner turned out to be a chill person, they just acted like an asshole for a front.” “… It’s also but a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of their wealth.” “I know… but I still lied to them.”
·       This was quite strange. Yes, you did get attached to individuals rather easily, but you’d usually have picked yourself up by now and be more or less fine, yet you were still sulking. “By chance, is anything else the matter?” You were silent for a moment. “If I had successfully sold you those fake artifacts when we first met, would you like me, like you do now?” “Ah, I see.” He traced circled and other shapes on our back mindlessly as he thought about it. “I would more so be frustrated with myself for getting tricked like that, then like before I believe you would have intrigued me, and we’d end in a place similar to this.” “So, you don’t resent me for that?” “No, I love you just as you are. No matter what sort of trickery you pull, from false items to rigged matches or even fake betting pools, your profession does not define you. To me, you are a doting partner, one who loves to love people, see things others often overlook and use it to your advantage. You follow through on your plans even when it hurts, you are dedicated to your craft, something I find beautiful and admirable.”
·       “S-stop, you’re gonna make me blush.” “Oh?” Before you could have stopped yourself those words slipped out. Immediately you stood up and began to march away. “I love you.” “Kiyo, please-” “I love you.” “No-” “I love you so much.” “Stop it!” “Y/N, you are the most beautiful person in this whole world.” “Enough already!” Kiyo chuckled seeing how flustered you were getting, burying your embarrassed face in your hands as you walked away, Kiyo following closely continuing with the compliments and sweet nothings.
   Rantaro Amami:
·       “I’m back.” “Good, did everything turn out well? Did the police get involved?” “No, no, we’re all fine. We had several assurances in place making sure the police wouldn’t get involved. The best one being if the police were called, that whole scam they set up would be revealed, so try and catch us for a little money or call the police and lose everything. The choice is rather obvious; besides, it’s not much compared to everything else they have. The worst we did was hurt their pride.”
·       Rantaro always was rather calm, but you could read his emotions from little things like a flicker of the eyes. He was much more reassured after that, though still a little worried. It only made sense, since he wasn’t a part of the plan you couldn’t risk telling him about it, so you could only give some details now. At least he wasn’t completely in the dark now.
·       “What about the money? How are you going to hied it?” “Well… I may have, sort of…” You sat beside him on the couch, him immediately holding you close. “… split my cut with the others.” “Hmm?” You snuggled up to him, leaning into his touch. “My partners in this caper… Honestly they could use the money more than me. Obviously, I still got some, but not enough to be noticeable by the banks or others. We may lie and practically steal, but they’re good people, and they worked hard, and… well… I’d like to work with them again, so I just wanted them to get away with a little more. I know you can’t get risk getting caught so you couldn’t join us, but I wish you could. I think you’d like them.”
·       Rantaro simply hugged you closely and smiled. “At least you’re making friends it seems.” “Yeah, I guess I am.”
·       Yeah, what you said could certainly be true of you too, Rantaro thought. Though you could be considered a thief and a liar, you were kind and generous as well.
   Nagito Komaeda:
·       You had told Nagito to sit in the audience of the rigged racetrack and to not move and that was what he did. He sat there and simply watched as your racer zipped across the track. Nagito rather liked that he was able to help in your work, even if it was just waiting for his luck to pop up, whether it be for the better or the worse, in the end it would be alright though, you were smart, even his bad luck couldn’t hurt you. And so he simply watched as the races went on.
·       Eventually during the last race Nagito received a text from an unknown number telling him to got to the reception hall. There a roof collapsed and…
·       And… he was in your room? “Oh thank goodness! I thought you were dead!” “Did I help?” “Yeah… the roof collapsing was just the get away I needed. Thank you.” “Why do you look so upset then?” You huffed, strolling over to the desk at the other side of your room, looking at the documents on it. “I would have gotten caught if it wasn’t for you. I know I have you around as a back up plan, but I don’t like using it, it’s like giving up in a way, taking the cheep win.” “… With how amazing you are, I’m sure you would have found a way.” “…” You gathered the documents, holding them close to your chest as you went for the bedside table, taking the water bottle off it and handing it to Nagito. “So you’re saying I just gave up too soon. I should just ask for your help for prison breaks. That King Pin deserved a fair match of wits, not me taking out my instant win card.”
·       Ah, that was it. “So you started respecting and got attached to the guy.” “… Maybe. What do you think?” “What I think?” “Yeah.” “Well…” Nagito thought for a moment. “Well… You did show him respect. You didn’t hold back in your scheming, you used everything to your advantage. It would have been more disrespectful to baby him and win when you weren’t completely trying.” “Yeah… I can see that. But still, I got you injured in the process.” After Nagito took a few sips you took the bottle back, placing it on the bed side table. As you did so you leaned over, giving a kiss to his bandaged forehead. “The very least I can do in thanks for saving my butt is healing you before my next heist.” You passed Nagito one of the documents to look over before leaving.
·       Even though Nagito only saw himself as a tool for you, you still cared about him. To him, you were too good for him.

--- Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 -
What a restless night. After all, how could I sleep knowing all my patience was finally going to pay off today? As I opened my eyes, I could not help but scoff at the first thought that crossed my mind upon awakening in the morning. Was I this far gone when it came down to this man, that he was all I could think of? Of course, I was, I thought humorously. I had come to that realization the day before but did not want to act on it. He had already expressed some affection for me the first moment he had said he wanted to court me. But liking someone was not loving them. Knowing that, I did not want to burden him by telling him I felt something stronger than simply liking him.
But it was fine. It was great. I could ignore it for some time. If - whenwe will come out of this war victorious, I will tell him. For now, I was going to enjoy his presence for a little longer. As I thought that very thought, I turned to the side to discreetly hold him closer but only found an empty futon. Furrowing my brows, I sat up quickly, letting out a sigh of relief at the same speed upon seeing Rengoku stretching in the room. “You’ve awakened! How did you sleep?” Meeting his wide eyes, I stared for a moment before glancing at his uncovered chest then averted my gaze. “It was slightly restless- would you mind covering-“ Kyojuro had this habit of interrupting me, by surprising me. This time it was with his pretty face right in front of mine, grinning.
He was crouching at the end of my futon, his elbows crossed over his knees, “Myself? But I’m working out!” “You are stretching at best, but I would not call it working out,” I scoffed, pushing his elbows playfully as I stood up. His bum hit the floor and he let out a loud huff before laughing beautifully. Thinking he would have caught himself, I apologized quickly and reached out for his hand to help him stand up. While he did take my hand, he did not use it to balance himself onto his feet, instead he placed it on his head, “Help me stretch?” I quirked a brow, threading my fingers through his tangled mane. It took me a moment to reply, I was enjoying the sight a bit too much that I got lost in his beauty.
How could I not? While he was sitting on the ground, I was standing, his eyes looking up at me as he was smiling oh so handsomely. In my head, I could see him smirk as he’d lean over, wrap his arms around my thighs or my knees and pull me over him, burying his head between- “Or maybe breakfast first, you seem a bit groggy,” He hummed as he rested his hands behind himself to stand up.
“No, it’s alright. I will help, what do you need me to do?” Surprised by my answer, his eyes widened as he pried my hand off his scalp and brought it to his cheek, “Thank you! Just gently push my back, if you can,” Nodding, I knelt behind him and placed my hands on his lower back. On the outside, I was composed and unbothered, but inside I wanted to let my hands roam all over his body. I couldn’t care less about the sweat when he looked so good, I wanted to touch him, kiss him, hold him- I wanted him in every possible form. Shaking my head to focus, I started putting some pressure ever so lightly.
I did not know anything regarding the art of massage. Knowing that, I was cautious in my actions. It seemed I was too cautious to his state, quickly, the Pillar pulled my arm towards his back, startling me in the process as he added, “You can push more, I can barely feel it,” With a confused sound, I followed his instructions but not without complaining, “I do not wish to break your back, it would be a shame to lose my date for the festival,” I trailed off, giving a strong push against his lower back, earning a meaningful grunt from the strong swordsman as his hands reached out in front of him to help the stretch. Thinking I pushed too hard, I quickly held his hips to help him lean back. As I did so, he turned around beaming, his back cracking more from the weird angle he was in.
Still in the same spot I was before, I let go of his hips and as I was about to ask him if he was alright, he excitedly said, “You said date!” “Why yes… After all, you are courting me, what else would I call it?” His eyes softened. He turned around slowly before resting his hands on my knees and leaning over teasingly, “And you are courting me,” He countered, his gaze falling on my lips for a brief moment before meeting my eyes. Feeling my cheeks burning up, I turned my head and huffed, “Yes, we have made that clear too. No need to act so surprised-“ The feeling of Kyojuro’s lips on my shoulder made me shut my mouth in a split second.
Without saying anything, I slowly looked at him with wide eyes. He was getting closer and closer to indecency with every passing day. And now, with only hours before the festival, the lion-like man dared once again, his eyes glimmering with playfulness. “Why did you do that?” I asked, covering my shoulder properly as he leaned back. “Because I like you- and I relish in the sight of your flustered face. I am sure tonight it will be even more beautiful, when I grab you by the waist like this-“ He stood up and pulled me to my feet, holding me close to balance my weight, “Then with the sun setting behind us, maybe fireworks-“ He paused, leaning his forehead against mine. “Oh yes, fireworks would be nice, it will make the moments only greater,” Humming to himself, he gently wrapped his arms around my shoulders instead of my waist.
“Do not think of it too much, you might jinx it, Kyojuro. Then again, I hardly think anything could be ruined if you are by my side,” I told him with a short laugh. I could almost hear the way his heart sped up when I said so as he pulled me away, both his hands on my shoulders. He held me there to stare at me, his expression glowing brighter than the morning sun, “That is very kind! You are right, whatever happens, it will be amazing, and we will make the best of it,” He nodded, perhaps more to motivate himself than to agree with anything. “I will see you tonight songbird, would you mind waiting by the main gate? We will go to the village together,” He then pressed a kiss on my forehead before letting me go.
Curious, I started, “The main gate? Perfect, what time-“ He chuckled timidly while running his fingers through his hair, “I have yet to decide the time, I don’t know which would be-“ This time, I was the one to interrupt him by kissing his forehead, “5pm it is then, I hope you are punctual. I would hate to think you stood me up,” Hearing his soft gasp made my smile broaden as I rushed to the sliding door, almost tripping on the tatami from how excited I was. “I will be there at 4!” he called out from inside the room. I had almost closed the door, but peeked inside the room once more, chuckling, “That is too early, although I must thank you for the enthusiasm,” He snorted a laugh in response. I may have heard him whisper something when I closed the door but wasn’t quite sure.
Something along the lines of “Anything for you”, but it could have been my imagination.
“You’re going to the festival tonight!” Echoed in unison the voices of Kiyo, Naho and Sumi. Laughing nervously, I gestured for them to quiet down as I ushered them away from Rengoku’s room. “You three little minxes do not have to act surprised; I am sure one of you heard us the first time we talked about it. And knowing you,” My eyes travelled over their little faces, trying to gauge who was the culprit, to settle on Kiyo, “You must have told everyone in excitement, yes?” Her face slowly turned red, a pout adorning her features. She crossed her arms over her chest and kept on marching towards the kitchen without answering.
“I was only remarking, Kiyo, do not pout like that,” I called out her name with a huff. Once I caught up with her and asked her to stop running away, I crouched in front of her, the two other girls joining us. “It saves me from explaining the story all over again. Now, you can help me get prepared, how does that sound?” Each of the faces in front of me lit up with pure amazement as they nodded in excitement. Before I could say anything else, they grabbed my hands and guided me towards my room. I did not dare tell them I wanted to have breakfast first and break their stride… But my stomach rumbled the moment we stepped inside the room. Sumi spoke up, “Right, we should bring you food first! You slept in this morning; we didn’t want to wake you up…” She trailed off secretively.
“The Fire Pillar had his entire morning work out while you were asleep,” She smiled sweetly, yet her tone made me feel like she had something to add, but I did not quite know what. So, I asked her, putting her under the spotlight. “Is there something you are hiding from me?” She shook her head in response, ready to follow the two other girls on their way out to get some food. Softly, I spoke her name to have her stay and she did. I prodded her to tell me what was happening, and it’s with a big smile on her face that she said, “We don’t have any lavender- The Pillar asked us but we don’t have those… I hope you’ll like the ones he’s going to give you!”
The look of surprise must have been obvious on my face since the younger girl quickly rambled in apology, “I am sorry! I promise he tried to find some- we had to hold him back from going to the village this morning- the ones we picked-“ Laughing nervously, I petted her head reassuringly as I tried to calm her down, along with my fast beating heart. How could I hide the smile forming on my face? How could I go to that gate later in the evening, and not tell him how grateful I felt when I was told he went out of his way to get me some flowers? Before talking about it with him, I had never once given a thought about what my favourite flower was and told him lavender simply for the nice fragrance of it. Whatever he was about to give me, I was going to be content with. “It is alright, I was simply… taken by surprise. I did not think he would have remembered,” I huffed as I sat down on the pillow, ushering Sumi closer while still cooing her and telling her it was fine.
“I must thank you for keeping him in check. I believe it was enough for him to have worked out this morning, if he had gone to the village he would have helped everyone he would have encountered. Not a great way to rest,” I shook my head in emphasis, making the girl laugh when she agreed with me. She nodded enthusiastically, adding that it was what made him so great, a lot less frightening than the other Pillars, albeit loud. She then continued, praising the blond man a bit longer until the arrival of her friends. I enjoyed listening to Sumi rant about Rengoku, it relieved me to know I was not just biased by how bright he made my life; other people also found him to be a great man, no matter how intimidating his boisterous personality was.
When I was told to eat fast, I had to let out a laugh as I put down my chopsticks. “Are you aware it is in a few hours. I have a lot of time to get prepared-“ “That’s always how it starts! Then we are an hour away, and nothing is done- and where is your formal kimono?” Aoi startled all of us when she slammed the door open, clutter in her arms. She dropped everything on the ground, making a lot of noise in the process. Taking a good look at what she had brought, I quirked a brow in confusion, “And… why would you need this? Or this, or even that one in the back?” I asked, pointing at different items. She slapped my hand away, shooing me and telling me to focus on eating. She even added that everything was under control.
“That, I can believe… However, I hardly think we would need all of this, it is a festival. I am not about to go to a ceremony. It is something casual, enjoyable and I need to be able to run-“ With a frown, her expression turned into something almost close to disgust, “Run? Why would you need to run?” Not expecting such a reaction, I snorted a laugh, but not mockingly so. Rengoku was an adventurous man, and an impulsive one too! The latter some would not believe with the restraint he has demonstrated the past few days, at least regarding the courtship. He did have a hard time staying put, but we managed. And, now that he was almost fully healed, thanks to his focused breathing, he could not stay put any longer.
His body, just like his mind, was all over the place. It warmed my heart to see him back to his full self, not that he had changed too much. “Run, yes. Knowing Kyo- The Fire Pillar, if an idea comes to his head we just might make a run for it. Health gives the man opportunities to be more chaotic, and since we’ve kept the lion in a cage for this long, he is bound to go a little crazy when seeing the wild,” I explained, chuckling to myself at the imagery I had set in my mind.
A mischievous smile made its way on the three younger girls in the room as they each brought a hand on their cheek and started shooing at me playfully. “Kyo-ju-ro,” they spelled out, in a sing-song voice. I could only roll my eyes, but there was no hiding the warmth that slithered to my cheeks. Since they were in a teasing mood, I bore through it while eating, giving them some chuckles to show I did not mind. They had a lot of creativity to find verses that rhymed, almost creating an entire tale about the beautiful Pillar and me. I must admit, it was entertaining to have them present a short show in front of me. I almost forgot they were supposed to be teasing me and instead was enthralled in their spectacle.
Aoi was not in a similar mood as mine. The moment I was done eating, she pushed the tray away and started measuring me, eliciting a nervous smile from my person. “Aoi, maybe you should take a breath- I assure you, there is no fuss that needs to be made over me-“ When I tried to put my hands on her shoulders, she berated me without words. Only clicking her tongue against her teeth. Giving her a short smile, I hesitated to ask if everything was alright. My hesitation was long enough for the three girls to leave the room with the trays and empty bowls. When silence settled between Aoi and I, I said her name softly, effectively getting her attention.
“It is just a festival-“ I started. She sighed loudly, her arms falling to her side as she finally sat down. “I am not stupid, I know what’s coming. I know we- you are going to fight Muzan, the corps…” She trailed off, fiddling with the hem of her sleeve. “We are all acting as if everything is fine but we know what’s brewing, alright? It’s not just a festival, it’s- it might just be the last-“ What I said next, I did not fully believe. Perhaps was I trying to convince myself? I did not know, but I did not like seeing her defeated like that. I cradled her face in my hands and huffed a laugh, “We will win, you know that?” A glimmer of hope lit in her eyes. I was doing well enough that she believed me. I hated it, I hated doing so, but she seemed happy with what I was giving her.
“Master Ubuyashiki has put together a plan, we have to believe in him,” I would love to see that plan too, perhaps being invited to the meetings would be even more interesting. But for now, nothing had been shared yet, we were all on stand-by. “And your boyfriend is super strong too, so obviously-“ Giving her a reprimanding look, albeit playful, my lips curled into a smile, “He is not my boyfriend, that sounds childish-“ “Lover then!” She said excitedly, her eyes almost pouring with fascination and interest in my love life. The more I looked at her, the more I thought she wanted something similar to what we had, Kyojuro and I. I assumed it was with Tanjirou, but I did not want to brusque her by talking about it, instead I indulged her curiosity. “Labels have not been discussed yet,” I paused.
With wide eyes, she waited for me to continue. She was trying to hide how excited she was but I could see through her façade, “However, I would not mind calling him my lover,” I confessed, hoping no one else was eavesdropping on us. With the years I have spent in this estate, I was very aware that the walls had ears, those ears belonging to the three mice called Sumi, Kiyo and Naho. But even they knew when to keep their mouths shut. “It is such a cute love story, two idiots longing for each other from afar-“ Aoi started, I bonked her head gently to stop her, “Not idiots, just…” There was a short silence as I tried to come up with another word to describe us but settled on the one she used, “Alright, perhaps we were idiots-“ “Are! You are still- look at you trying to be proper as if you did not want to jump him!”
I was quick to stand up, making her burst out laughing when I said, “I believe this ends the conversation for now, I will see you in a few hours,” Just as I opened the door, I heard a quick scrambling behind as something hit the ground. Upon letting my eyes fall on the ‘thing’ in question, I could see it was Kyojuro, surrounded by the three girls who looked caught red-handed. The man in question had fallen on his derrière and was looking at me with a face bright red and eyes open wide. We stared at one another for a moment, I could not find the strength to be embarrassed just yet. But as I observed his features longer, and his timid smile made its way to his face, I felt my cheek burn up. “Eavesdropping is bad,” I finally stated.
“Well, no eaves were dropped, only I did, spectacularly so, and on the ground!” He nodded energetically, gesturing to himself. Signalling for the girls to get inside, I reached out for Rengoku’s hands to help him up. Before lifting him off the ground, he grinned and asked, “Can I pull you down to me?” I rolled my eyes in response, but agreed, still yelping at the strong pull of his arm as my knees hit his thighs instead of the ground. I was quick to apologize and sat next to him instead. He reassured me, telling me it was alright then observed me for a moment. Not wanting to keep the silence any longer than necessary, I spoke up, “You should not listen in on conversation that are not yours, Kyo,”
He hummed. “You are right! The girls asked me to follow them, they said it was an emergency! It’s alright, I only heard the end,” While his words were confident, I could see his timid expression when he looked to the side. His hand slid to mine slowly, holding it when he articulated, “If you were talking about me, I can assure you that I would not mind either,” He said with a smile, finally looking at me.
Wanting to make sure of what I heard, I inquired, “Tell me, what would you not mind?” Thinking I was going to fluster him even more, I was surprised when he brought my hand to his face and held my palm open there, his lips brushing the inside of it. My heart skipped a bit, it was my turn to feel embarrassed. It was hard to keep my eyes on him when he was acting as such, but I tried my best. His tone then deepened in something slightly sultrier, “I would like to call you a lot of sweet names,” He nodded, his lips meeting my palm as he did so. He left a few kisses on the way too as he trailed higher, to my wrist, “Lover would be the first one,” He hummed, content as he pressed another kiss on my skin before going even higher, sliding my sleeve up as he held my forearm with both hands.
“Then, perhaps, partner…” This kiss had more pressure, it was followed by, “Then if we get married…” While his lips were on my skin, he looked up at me with a huge grin, his breath tickling my hair and sending chills all over my body. “Yes, if…” He trailed off and let go of my arm gently before smiling sweetly, his tone changing to his usual light one, “Oh well, that is a discussion left for another time! Is that not right, love?” I had to cough upon swallowing my spit down the wrong tube. He had said a lot in the span of a few moments, but it was enough to make my heart want to jump out of my chest. The man dared laugh softly as his hand rubbed my back to help me get through. “We’ll work on that,” I ignored his comment and finally got a hold of myself.
Throwing him a glare from up close, I gripped the front of his jinbei and pulled him even closer. “You are not allowed to be like that,” I whispered, not wanting the others to hear. “Like how?” He asked nervously.
I mulled over my words a moment, hot, beautiful, charming, silver tongued, adorable? I finally uttered, “Smooth,” It made him burst out laughing as he made me release his shirt. “We are the day of the festival, there are a lot more things I can do, care to give it a go?” He asked, licking his lips as he pointed at them. I considered it. Dear, did I consider it. But I wanted him to fall first, no matter how soft his lips seemed to be and no matter how pretty he looked while boasting like that.
Strong will, I am strong willed, I can wait a bit longer, I reminded myself. I can even play the game some more, I thought. With a smirk, I brushed my thumb over his lips and leaned in ever so lightly, “Ah yes, that… I am sure it can wait. It would be indecent without the proper courting steps completed; would you not think?” His mouth was now agape as he stared at me with an almost child-like wonder, if not astonishment. We caught one another off-guard often, but this time it felt even better to be able to see each of his features from up-close.
His brows would turn into a confused frown for the span of a second as his smile turned even more lost, before returning to something softer. There was no way to see such a thing, but I could almost see how fast his heart was beating; from the speed at which his chest was rising and the askance look in his eyes as they’d move from my eyes to my lips every so often. Slowly, he smiled more confidently, his mouth closing as he gulped audibly, “Your will is admirable, I will give you that,” Gradually, he sat up properly instead of being propped on his elbows, making me lean back as he tilted his head forward.
“Lavender? Too simple, as beautiful its meaning is and as gorgeous the flower is…” He trailed, his hands meeting my cheek delicately, tracing up to behind my ear. I leaned in, earning a chuckle from the man. “I should find one that means temptation, it would be more suitable, don’t you think?” Humming calmly, he darted his eyes to my hand and brought it to his chest. I was about to slide it under his shirt, confused but eager, nonetheless. He tutted me and brought my hand over the fabric, right above his heart, “Can you feel it?” I nodded, all my confidence from earlier slowly dripping down the drain, I was sure the girls were listening in but with how low we were talking, they could not have been hearing much.
So, I let him do as he pleased. Even a man as loud as him knew when to tone it down, and that’s what he was doing. His voice was lower, yes, but his actions were nothing close to tamed. Warmth was coursing through my body; I would almost feel dizzy from how hot he made me feel if not for the short distance between us. He then chuckled softly to himself as he held my hand close, as if it were the most precious thing he’s ever held. “I am sure if you started singing right now, it would follow the rhythm,” He said about his heart, “Because the emotions you put in your words make my soul sing,” his eyes met mine anew. I wrapped my hand around his tightly, not knowing what to say. He continued, “And your touch… makes my body sing,” my cheeks burst aflame.
That made him burst out laughing as he let go of me when I suddenly stood up, this time, words flooded off my mouth, “It seems it is a draw, once again,” I started, talking about how no matter how hard I tried to get him flustered, he would get me flustered back, “When two predators encounter, they do not fight, they are wary of one another. They have to make sure the enemy does not catch their prey… Little did they know they were one another’s prey,” I scoffed, shaking my head as I helped him to his feet, this time he complied.
“No need for such beautiful words, neither of us is a prey or a predator,” He smiled, his eyes looking behind for a moment before leaning his forehead against mine. With a content smile, he hummed to himself, “We simply are two idiots, and this little game will end tonight,” I frowned an instant, making him panic, “Not in a threatening way! I just really want to kiss you, and I am not waiting longer- if that’s fine with you!” He stammered. The man was deadly on the battlefield, but seeing him like this, all over the place and blushing, was a sight I could not get enough of.
Playfully, I smirked as I whispered, almost inaudibly, “I am more than fine, maybe you should do something about it now. I would not complain,” He leaned back wide-eyed rapidly, then kissed my cheek with an equal speed before stepping back, “A red tulip, definitely,” were his last words before departing and leaving me with the sudden brouhaha the girls behind the door brought upon pulling me back inside. They were quick to flood me with questions, I felt like a ragdoll being pulled by all sides. It took me satiating their curiosity to be able to go on with my life and to start getting prepared for the evening.
As expected, it did not take too long. I was slightly more dressed up than usual, but not enough to make it look out of place. The additional change would be an ornament on my attire that, as the girls said, made my eyes pop. It was comfortable and airy, which would come in handy with the heat that seemed to be rising.
Since I was prepared a few hours early, we played a few games to relax. It took some time to explain Mahjong to the younger girls, but we managed, along with Aoi. While it was fun, we then decided to play some card games instead so that we could stop at any time. Their company was soothing, but my mind was somewhere else, my look kept diverting to the clock as I would check how much time I had left until I had to join Kyojuro at the gate.
The waiting game was entertaining for a few days, but as time went on, I could not hold still any longer. I stood up and waved the girls goodbye as I rushed to the gate, their voices cooing in the back as they called out, telling me to have fun.
It was only half past four when I reached the gate and as I made my way there, I could see a beautiful man pacing in front of said gate. He was dressed in a glorious red and gold attire that suited him even more than his usual red common one. I also noticed how he had tied his hair, an adorable flame-shaped brooch at the base of his hair.
Making myself known, I spoke a bit louder than usual to get him out of his reverie, “You are here early,” I said, placing a hand on his shoulder to stop him from pacing. His entire body tensed up before relaxing as he turned around to face me, his eyes widening in pure awe. I felt as much flattered as I did self-conscious, in a good way. “You-“ He closed his mouth and hummed, composing himself. I was not sure of what I was seeing, but there seemed to be a growing blush on his cheeks as he continued, “So are you! It is not 5 already, is it?- In all honesty, I do not know how long I’ve been standing here,” He chuckled nervously.
Tilting my head to the side, I let go of him and playfully said, “Standing? I am sure you have dug a path where you have been pacing,” He rapidly looked down at the ground, all there was, was some dust on his socks but nothing much more. Feeling the need to calm him down, I started, “Please, don’t be nervous- Or if you wish to be, know that I have been thinking about it the entire day too. My hands might even be a bit damp,” I mumbled the last part, wiping my hands on my clothes just in case. It made Rengoku laugh, loudly. Which was not uncommon, but I was almost certain it was the stress leaving his body in the most natural way.
“I have yet to say it since you’ve startled me, would you give me a moment to start over?” He said enthusiastically, leaving me a bit puzzled but I nodded and watched him turn around. His back rose as he took a deep breath before facing me once again with a huge grin and an overdramatized shock, “You are here already!” He winked at me to go along; I couldn’t help the snort that left my nose. “You are absolutely ravishing, yes, yes,” He nodded, his eyes traveling up and down my body to take a proper look. The smile on his face only grew, it was genuine and so sincere I felt my heart stop for a moment as I waited for more.
“You look gorgeous, I could throw every adjective, and none would compare to how beautiful you are,” The heat rising to my cheeks could not be helped, but the attitude I had upon receiving his shower of compliments, could. “You are right, albeit a bit biased and over the top. I genuinely appreciated it,” He was about to tell me it was not over the top, but I placed my finger over his mouth, shushing him effectively, “It is my turn, then we can go,” He blinked a few times, nodding.
I threw a glance at his hair, “You have tied your hair-“ “Yes! I remembered you liked it a lot like that,” He said confidently, putting me under the spot even when it was my turn to make him feel pretty. “Do not dress for me, do whichever you prefer-“ I started, but he leaned in with a mischievous grin, “But then I don’t get to see you trying to be sneaky about ogling me! I’d rather keep the hair tied, and have all your attention,” He stated, puffing his chest out in pride. Shaking my head with a soft chuckle, I was at loss at how to come back to telling him how divine he looked.
Raising my brows to tell him wordlessly that I’d like to continue, he gestured for me to go on, apologizing in the process, “Red and gold suit you beautifully, you look radiant. So radiant you could compete with the sun itself, both guilty of blinding me. One by his beauty, the other by its glow,” Both were also the reason for my body temperature rising, but one would do it on purpose just by unleashing his heart and letting his feelings pour out.
The Fire Pillar stared at me a moment, the tip of his ears reddening, “Thank you!” He uttered loudly. Only two words and he had managed to stammer slightly. "Does that mean you consider me as your very own God of Sun?” He whispered in a sultry tone, making me rack my brain rapidly to remember the time I had told him I would worship him. I was enthralled by his beauty at the time and had let my body do the talking, not my brain. It brought me here, at this very moment, where the man I had praised was now goading, although playfully. I could either take this further or de-escalate it. I chose the latter, “My first offering will be dumplings, would you care for some?”
His face, just like the sky, could show so much. It said everything he was thinking. And as his interest was piqued, the man beamed and took hold of my hand, “Most definitely! Let’s hurry, we should get the best things first, I will treat you!” he then pulled me with him and started running, never letting go of my hand at first until I pulled back and stopped him dead in his tracks. His hair was already disheveled from the short run, it brought a smile to my face as I spoke, “I have a suggestion,”
“You have my undivided attention my love-“ His eyes widened upon letting the affectionate name slip, both our faces heated up. I did not want to let the silence settle and decided, even though I enjoyed it greatly, to ignore it by continuing with what I was about to say. “If we are both wanting to pay for the other, I suggest we settle it by a race. I am sure it is in your chords, even considering your predicament,” I gazed down at his stomach to make him understand I meant his wound, that was now almost fully healed. A determination lit up in his eyes. It was sparked by the simple idea of a challenge, a challenge that Rengoku Kyojuro could not lose. “The first one who reaches the village will be the one to invite the other?” He was making sure of the terms.
Grinning back, I nodded, “On the count of three- when I say three, we start, understood?” His warm laugh reached my ears as he agreed, adding that he will not slow down for me. “I was not counting on it, I have the advantage of being in top shape,” He once again laughed, confidently so, and readied himself for my count. Doing the same, I lifted the fabric above my knees to be able to run properly and started the count, “One,” his gaze was focused ahead, his mind was already on the race, “Two,” Something was odd with how confident he was, and I realized it upon saying, “Three,” he disappeared out of my sight in the span of a second.
Blinking a few times, I barked a laugh and shook my head a moment before starting to run to the village. Of course, he would do that, I was the fool for not giving clearer instructions. It was obvious that he was going to use his focused breathing to be faster, but I had not given it a single thought since I was too caught up in the moment. I could not be mad at him, but I could ask for a rematch, not that he would accept it. This run gave me some time to reconsider my life choices for a while; The first one being suggesting a run in a kimono, the second was having chosen a smart man to race against. The first one I regretted, it was cumbersome to say the least and made me want to rip the side of the fabric, which I did not. The second one… made the moment even more memorable.
Once I arrived at the village, music was flooding my ears, drums and laughter too. I could feel the vibrations coursing through my body. People walked by, holding their children’s hand or their lover’s, some in small groups of friends.
Lost in the sea of people, I watched them all in awe, along with the beautiful lights that lit up the place, I felt like a child again. The loud voices of the stand owners could not bring me back to reality, but the close voice of Kyojuro did. He said my name softly, startling me in the process. I swore under my breath in panic, shocking him. “You can swear!” “Because you startled me-“ Facing him suddenly, I grabbed his hand in mine to stop him from getting engulfed by the crowd.
“That was cheating,” I said with a smile, making him grin wide, “Now we are both guilty,” He hummed, leading me away from the crowd so that we could talk more calmly. Huffing, I could not believe he accused me of such a thing, but still asked, “Are we both, now?” It turned his smile into a smirk.
Humming playfully, he looked around then set his beautiful gaze on mine, “Need I remind you when you kissed me through your sleeve, songbird?” Mouth agape, I stood in front of him speechless. He was right, not that I wanted to hear about it.
Sighing in resignation, I raised my arms, shrugging. “It is fair, we are even now, I suppose,” I trailed off with a laugh, but Rengoku was not exactly agreeing yet.
“If we stick to details,” He started in a strong voice, pulling me towards him as his free hand placed itself on my lower back, “You lost our little game at that moment, which means I could kiss you right now,” His tone was mix of flirting and being oblivious on purpose, I could not quite tell. All I knew is that his chest against mine felt warm and comfortable, and perhaps that I wanted to hold him closer. But I did not move, I simply smirked at first, “All I hear is that you are trying to find a shortcut to this courtship- I do believe one step is missing, would you not say?” Was what I added.
Oh did I love to see his eyes widen in surprise, even if he was quick to get a hold of himself and turn the situation to his advantage. “What if I did?” Was all he said. With just that, I had to do a double take. He then gently led me against the tree trunk behind, my back hitting it and making me understand I could not back down. Although he was not blocking me in any way, I could tell him off if I wanted, but did I want to? “Because I really want to kiss you right now,” He breathed, his nose brushing against mine, “But I am also craving dumplings right now,” he huffed a laugh, his breath caressing my lips while his mouth did not.
In awe at what he just said, I was about to speak when a small voice was heard nearby. A child, asking his parents about us, about what we were doing. I quickly, yet gently, pushed Rengoku away and grabbed his hand to pull him towards the festival instead of staying out of the festivities. “Then we shall get dumplings,” I chuckled, in false confidence. Why was I embarrassed of being caught so close to him? We were both adults, it was normal. Perhaps it was the shocked look of the parents? Offense was written all over their face, but I shouldn’t care…
“Was that the man who saved that old lady a few months ago? I did not know he was so indecent, he seemed so kind-“ I heard them say when we walked past them. Indecent? How so? Nothing suggestive had happened, if we had kissed they could not say much about it. Lovers did that often, why would it be bad for their child to see it?
As I questioned their attitude, Rengoku let go of my hand and stopped in front of the family. “Hi!” He started, they returned his greeting albeit confusedly. “I don’t believe anything indecent happened, can I not kiss my lover on this beautiful day? A festival makes it even more special; don’t you think? Shaming people for being affectionate is a sad thing to do,” He explained, his voice strong like thunder and unmoving. He was in no way filled with animosity, no. He was being genuine, and that’s what made those people uncomfortable. Gesturing to my form, the lion-like man asked them to apologize, which they did so begrudgingly before leaving. The child happily smiled our way and waved at Kyojuro as he was tugged closer to his mother.
When Kyojuro joined my side once more, he instinctively held my hand and started walking towards the festivities. I was the first one to speak. “It was very kind of you, I do still feel a bit embarrassed. Even if there is no reason for me to be, we did not even kiss-“ “That we did or not, it does not matter! I will not tolerate anyone being ignorant and judgmental over such futile things,” He stated confidently, his eyes set ablaze by how much it seemed to mean to him. A short smile made its way to my lips while I looked around to stop it from growing wider, but it did not help. The Fire Pillar noticed and with a curious look, asked me what I was smiling about.
“You. You are making me smile. I really like how determined you are, it is endearing,” I trailed off before adding, “You have a way of making everyone feel special, it feels nice,”
A weak “oh” left his mouth. It was followed by his face reddening when he beamed at me, laughing nervously, “You are special to me, more than you think. I am glad you feel that way,” Enjoying the comfortable silence that had settled after his words, we walked through the crowded path until we finally reached a stand that sold the dumpling Rengoku was looking for. His eyes lit up in a child-like wonder when he saw how good they looked and tugged me closer to him when he approached the stand. “Shall we get the caramelized one? Oh! Or these ones!” He pointed at another batch, “Vegetables or meat? They all look so good-“
Laughing loudly, I called for the cook and asked him if we could get two of each sort. Thanking us, he nodded and started preparing everything while making small talk. He ushered us to sit under the open tent, “Please, take a seat, everything will be ready in a few minutes,” returning to the food, he greeted more people. When we sat down, a younger girl rushed to our side with two cups and a bottle in hand, “Sake?”
“Gladly! Thank you, young lady,” we both nodded to thank her as she scurried off. Some people were already loudly drinking around us, it was merry and familiar. It made it hard to be heard over their boisterous laughs, leaning over the table, I spoke clearly, “If you do not like some of yours, I will eagerly take them,” I said with a huffed laugh. “They do look good, don’t they?” He said enthusiastically, glancing behind to look at the food, almost drooling.
The food looked good, yes, but so did he. His neck looked so slender in this angle; it was on display with the way his hair was tied. Even with the few wild strands, it looked appropriate and made him so beautiful to me. “I could not agree more,” I said, my eyes focused on him. When he turned back to look at me, I suddenly looked around and quickly said, “I can hear a troupe playing the shamisen somewhere, we should take a look afterwards,” When I glanced back at the ginger in front of me, he was grinning broadly, his elbows resting on the table and his face cradled in his hands. “Should I take that as a yes?” I asked, knowing full well what he was doing. If I play along, he might not say anything.
“Definitely, yes. But you could also take- my hand?” He reached out over the table for my hand, his palm pressing on his cheek making his smile look a bit odd. I complied with a stupid smile. “Do you think there is a painter somewhere? We should get a picture together,” He pondered out loud, “Maybe we should ask-“ “That way you will be able to look at me all day without having to act as if you weren’t!” Why did he say it so innocently? Was it on purpose? Was it to make me flustered? If so, it worked. Tightening my hand around his, I rolled my eyes and focused my gaze on the cook instead of the gorgeous swordsman in front of me.
“Look at me,” His voice rang sternly. Taken aback by his tone, I met his bright eyes rapidly, “There!” His voice had returned to the sweet, loud, one I was used to, oh so quickly. “You can look, ogle, gaze,” He let go of my hand and spread his arms wide, almost hitting the plate the cook was bringing in the process when he said, “I am yours!” he hastily apologized to the man and distanced himself slightly from the table to let him put the plates down. “Enjoy the meal,” the cook bowed before returning to the kitchen where the younger person from earlier had started helping him.
When I returned my gaze to the table, Rengoku was waiting, holding out a dumpling between his chopsticks with a cute smile on his lips. Doing that gave me the opportunity to ignore his sweet ‘outburst’, but for a moment I considered not doing so. Then again, what was one supposed to say when being “I am yours”?
“Take it! You should have the first bite, it is a consolation prize,” His tone ever so loud and determined, he opened his mouth for me to do the same. Clearly, he was not planning on stopping until he had fed me, so I leaned in and took a bite of the dumpling then sat properly on my chair once more. “Is it good!” He asked. No answer was needed; the moment after asking, he brought the other half to his mouth and ate it, humming loudly before exclaiming, “Delicious!”
The whole scene elated joy in me, I couldn’t suppress the snort that escaped from my nose. “It is, we should taste the others,” Thus I ignored his confession of belonging to me. I did not know what to do about it just yet but wanted to say something, anything, to match his energy. Instead, we changed topic and ate happily, enjoying the food as more people gathered under the tent to take a break from the festivities. Half-way through the meal, Kyojuro asked to hold my hand once more. I had to argue that he would not be able to hold his chopsticks if we did. He was holding out his dominant hand and it required promising not letting go of it once we are done, to have him accept to not hold hands the entirety of the meal. When it got too crowded, we brought the plate back to the cook and Rengoku paid for everything before taking my hand and leading us away.
“Should we first find the troupe or find a painter first? With a bit of luck, the painter is close to the troupe!” He exclaimed, pulling me different ways in excitement. His mind was all over the place and I liked seeing him like that, it felt comfortable to know he was enjoying himself, even if he was agitated. “I think it’s this way, I can hear it-“ Pulling him in the proper direction, I was pulled the exact opposite way, “Then let’s go the other way, no need to rush,” He said softly, tugging playfully.
Quirking a brow, I used my other hand and pulled with more force, “That way is the fireworks viewing, it has not started yet. We have time, as you said. So, let’s find a painter,” He seemed surprised and pleased at the same time. Following my footsteps, he did not say much at first, until he had gathered his thoughts once more and uttered, “You have strength, I like that,” “I tugged you, because you are wild. It hardly is a display of strength,” I replied quickly. I almost bumped into by someone when marching ahead, when Rengoku pushed me aside and then stood behind me. Not saying anything about it, he continued the conversation as he let go of my hand and instead placed both of his on my shoulders, “I think it was very…” His tone dropped, making me think he was not going to say ‘cute’.
With his face right next to mine, we kept walking as he confided very suggestively, “-Well I think we should train, just you and me, that is all,” His attention was then turned to the attractions around the square, that is how we then spent a few hours trying a few games that had been set. No prize had been won, but we each made one another a good luck charm at one of the stands. Mine was slightly more appealing than the one he had made for me, and I made sure to tell him. He argued it was one of a kind, which was correct. They both would work the exact same amount anyway, and I liked having the weight of his charm in my pocket. Laughing it off, we walked about to find the most important thing we wanted to do tonight.
Humming a moment, I did not have time to ponder it more that he squeezed my shoulders and turned me suddenly, “There! Found a painter, shall we go?” I was pulled towards the woman sitting on the stool in front of an easel, a beautiful paper resting on it. She seemed to have been scribbling on the side as she waited for people to come by. Most of the street was empty, probably due to the people having left to have dinner or have a drink between friends.
I was not even walking with Rengoku at this point, he was simply pushing me gently towards her with a huge grin on his face and his warm hands engulfing my shoulders. Peeking his head from behind my shoulders, he called her out confidently to get her attention. She was startled by our presence, perhaps also by the loud man that had interrupted her, and almost dropped her charcoal but caught herself. At first she apologized, then she gestured for us to sit. There was a bench in front of the easel, but it did not seem like we would both fit.
Rengoku sat first.
Then he patted his thighs excitedly, “Come! We have to look our best- you do already, but do I look-“ “Good, yes, you do. You look presentable and a bit disheveled from our run earlier, but it adds to the charm,” I chuckled as I tried to tame his hair, he placed his hands on his knees and did not move while I tried my hardest to get his hair to look like something. He was patient, for now. And still. When I let my eyes drop on his, he smiled genuinely but stayed silent. The painter did not pressure us to go faster, and I think I heard her laugh gently when Kyojuro whispered, “You really do not have any bad angle, you look kissable from here too,”
In shock, I dropped my hands on his shoulders and gave him a warning look, albeit it perhaps looking like a panicked one. “Let us start,” I said in a hushed tone. He burst out laughing and pulled me closer while I was still standing up, his hands holding my lower back. He was clearly hidden by my form and yet he loudly said, “We are ready!” It made the artist laugh as she sat properly on her stool, softly telling us it wouldn’t work. With a nervous chuckle, I told her we knew and tried to get away from the warm man in front of me. Determined to keep me by his side, he helped me on his lap and wrapped his arms around my stomach this time.
My back was against his stomach, and his chin was resting over my shoulder. Not knowing what to do with my hands, the artist stood up from her seat with a smile and took my hands, placing them onto Rengoku’s. “There, you two look very cute like that,” She said. When she met my gaze, there was some sort of mischief somewhere behind her eyes. Not the malicious type, but the one that you seemed to have when you shared a secret with someone.
Shortly, she began drawing, her eyes darting from the paper to us, many times. She had to remind the Fire Pillar to say put since he would sometimes start playing with my hands. It made my heart beat so fast, I was wondering if the woman in front of us could see how flustered I was. “This is so great, I cannot wait to see how it’ll turn out,” He whispered, keeping a huge smile on his face. I was half tempted to laugh at how tense he looked, talking through gritted teeth almost, from keeping the smile up and holding a conversation with me. “What are you doing?” I whispered back, only parting my lips a little to let my voice out.
One of his hands had let go of mine and was now grabbing my thigh. “I don’t know what to do with my hands,” He replied, chuckling. “Do you not believe my thigh to be an improper spot to let your hand wander to?”
The artist must have heard us, she chuckled charmingly as she threw us a bright glance, “I can assure you, whatever happens here stays between us. Adultery, sex workers, older people with younger ones, I have seen everything,” It made Rengoku laugh loudly as he moved his hand from my thigh and placed both his hands on my cheeks as he spoke and explained we were making our coming together official tonight. He added that I was simply being playful with his actions, then in a very low tone, barely above a whisper he asked me, “I won’t do it again, I apologize, I did not mean anything by it-“ I bumped my head against his when he let go of my face and mumbled, which was uncommon for me, “I do not mind, if we are alone,” Grabbing his hands, I put them back where they were when we started and continued, “Hold my hands while the lady finishes this, would you please?”
Enthusiastically agreeing, I froze when he pressed a kiss on my cheek before positioning himself exactly as before. This time we were more relaxed for some reason, the artist must have noticed; I could see the content smile on her lips as she focused on her art.
If I had not been requested to keep that very position, odds are that I could have fallen asleep. The comfort of being in the arms of the gentlest person I knew, feeling not only his welcoming aura but the kindness he breathed, it all made the position we were in more intimate. My heart was soaring. I did not want it to end.
Just as that thought crossed my mind, the woman in front of us stood up and showed us the final work. I barely had time to look at it when Kyojuro’s eyes widened in bewilderment and happiness. Compliments poured from his mouth as he praised the hard work of the painter. She was all over the place but tried her best to stay humble. It looked gorgeous indeed, the details made it all the livelier, even more so with the use of colored pastels to bring out the fiery tone of the Pillar’s hair.
Giving her the required sum, Rengoku rolled the drawing and slid it inside his Kimono. Before leaving, the woman grabbed my hand and handed me a folded paper, grinning, “Here, you took some time getting him ready- I scribbled something. It is not as detailed as the final product, it is a cute scene,” Nodding, she hurried back to her seat when another group of people joined her stand and called for her.
I was also called by my name by Rengoku. He seemed in a hurry, so I quickly slid the paper between the layers of my Kimono and joined his side, breathing “I am here,” before being pulled by the man again. He was screaming something over the crowd, but I could not hear what he was saying, only that a big smile was adorning his features and that he was hasting himself. Apologies flooded from my mouth when we kept bumping into people, but there was also the biggest grin on my face as I did so. I couldn’t help but laugh at how wildly he was zigzagging between the masses. His hand was holding onto mine for dear life the entire time we ran.
It was when he finally let go that I realized how tightly we were holding hands. We were both out of breath, but I was the only one who was now leaning forward, my hands resting on my knees for balance. “We have arrived just in time!” Rengoku breathed out loudly, gripping my hands once again to guide me closer to the edge of the cliff where we could see a lot more of everything; forest, village, horizon, everything. I almost fell forward from his sudden hold, but caught myself and gasped at the view in front of me.
I was out of breath, but I couldn’t help but hold my breath at how beautiful everything looked from up here. The village was not only lit from the usual lights, but from paper lanterns people had lit and small campfires that had been started. I could even see a man-animated dragon crossing the streets. Children were petting it, adults were cheering to it, I could see everything. “It is stunning, how did you find it?” I asked Kyojuro, talking about the spot. The man was also in awe, but not at the view. At me. His eyes were riveted on my person. I looked at him only slightly confused about his slow reply, but he then said, “It’s always been there,” His tone made it sound like more was being said “I am quite lucky to have found it, too,” He added.
His hands slid up my arms slowly. Shivers ran down my spine from how cold and dark the night had gotten. Or was it thrills? My mouth felt dry, my throat tight, my hands were freezing and clammy at the same time. “It is quite the find, I’ll admit. I don’t really want to share it,” He shook his head, making a disgruntled noise as if talking to himself. His face was getting closer and closer, I leaned in too, “Are we still talking about the spot-“ Interrupting myself, I turned towards the fireworks that had started. It was beautiful how the colors painted the sky, the roaring as it exploded filled my ears and I was drawn to the patterns it drew in the darkness up above.
Amidst my child-like wonder at the fireworks happening right in front of me, I heard a loud laugh next to me as Rengoku rested his forehead on my shoulder and started laughing. A smile made its way to my lips, it was contagious, how happy the man could make anyone. I asked him what was going on and he turned me around to fully face him, his eyes wrinkled at the corner from how big he was smiling. “I was trying to be romantic and you-“ He rested his forehead against mine, his hands cradling my face, “You are so beautiful, but I really wanted to kiss you and fireworks caught your attention better than my words could,” he huffed, a mix of nervousness and embarrassment. Joy seemed to be coating his voice too.
Mirroring him, I started laughing too, “I am sorry- it is just so beautiful,” I explained quickly. We were surrounded by both the cicada sounds, the thumping of the explosions and the percussions of the drums down in the village; And yet, I could hear how loud my heart was beating, if I paid closer attention I was persuaded I could hear his, too.
“Now that I have your attention, can I kiss you?” His eyes pleading, kind, loving.
“Are we not missing a step?” I whispered teasingly, making him make a sound close to a whine. “Alright, close your eyes!” He said quickly. The warmth of his body close to mine disappeared for a moment, then it came back just as fast when he told me to open my eyes. There he stood with a poppy flower in hand. It was as fiery as his hair, but nothing could match his beauty in my eyes. “I have forgotten your bouquet at the estate, I can only hope this will suffice- if not I will run back there and come back-“
Grabbing the poppy, I pulled him closer and cradled his face in my hand, tilting it towards mine, “Absolutely, it suffices, it works, it is perfect, all the steps have been fulfilled, can we kiss now? I do not wish to wait any longer, nor do I want to-“ Cutting me off, Kyojuro crossed the distance between our lips and crashed his lips against mine. My hands gripped the hem of the collar of his Kimono, his thumbs were on my cheeks while the rest was behind my ears. He was holding me steady, but both of us were leaning against the other; desperate for more, more touch, more intimacy, more passion, more of one another.
We needed to breathe, and the opportunity came shortly after when we heard it.
Our crows.
His, screaming for him to return to the estate.
Mine telling me to run to the entrance of the village where necessities were waiting for me for I was being sent away on a mission.
Confused, we asked what was happening and were informed that the swordsmith village was being attacked and that the Pillars were to return quickly to help. Being a simple Slayer I was sent on a gathering mission to bring back recruits that hadn’t come back yet and to find information on something I had yet to know about.
I tried to argue that I wanted to help defend the village, but my crow kept repeating the order it had received over and over again. There was nothing I could do.
Nodding, we both accepted our orders. Our crows departed soon after.
“It feels like a farce,” I scoffed, reaching out for Rengoku’s hand. “Please be careful,” I whispered, not looking at him.
Not having it, he walked to stand in front of me and kissed me deeply one last time. I returned it desperately, a mix of sadness and content filled the kiss. Love being the main ingredient. “Come back to me soon, I cannot defeat Muzan without you by my side, my love,” He smiled, brushing his nose against mine before pecking my lips one last time.
“Please, do not die,” I breathed.
“I will most definitely not, I plan on retiring after all of this,” He chuckled, caressing my hand before letting go.
Did he believe those words? I did not have time to ponder that we parted ways, both off to our designated missions.

If you don’t mind could I maybe hear some or ur general Korekiyo headcaons, also u r an amazing person and ur cosplays r just 👌👌
Y E S THANK YOU. I shall gush about this anthropologist immediately-
..........
General HCs
Kiyo is definitely a makeup guru. He’s studied a lot of cosmetic practices in other cultures and has notebooks full of tips.
He even considered being an “Ultimate Cosmetologist” once he learned all he could about the “beauty” of humanity.
He owns different colored masks, though he prefers his black ones just so they don’t attract unwanted attention.
Sometimes he’ll tell Kaito spooky stories (or just mention some when he knows he’s around) just to scare the astronaut out of his wits.
Tends to info-dump a lot about stories behind mythical creatures, artifacts, etc. (like when he was telling Shuichi all about seances in his FTEs).
Himiko likes his stories on mythical animals.
He’s been on several trips with Rantaro.
They def bring back souvenirs for each other.
His dorm room has a lot of books and decorations hung up on the walls. Ask him about any of them and he’ll be the happiest person in the academy.
If you give him any of his favored/liked gifts, he’ll tell you all about them in great detail and then proudly display them in his lab or dorm.
He just loves to talk about allllllll things relating to his talent.
Pregame HCs (under the cut bc of spoilers)
Didn’t care for the Danganronpa series too much.
Tho he’s secretly a Gundham kinnie.
He took inspiration from his bandaged arm and decided to bandage his hands.
Also took an interest in magic circles, frequently doodling them in the back of the classroom or during his free time.
His sister was always in the hospital, so he never got to see her as much as he’d like.
But their relationship was healthy and non-incestuous.
Was bullied in school due to his long hair, mask, and creepy aura.
And rumors of him being a serial killer were widespread simply bc he gave off those vibes.
But he never told anyone, not even his sister, bc he didn’t want to burden anyone.
Tends to ramble (like his DRV3-self) but he’ll stop and apologize, worried he’s annoying the other person.
When his sister passed, he became depressed, reclusive, and bullied even more. He tried rituals to commune with her spirit..but, of course, they all failed.
So he auditioned for Danganronpa as an escape--and in hopes he might join his sister in the afterlife.
