The batfam meet Jarro
Ok so this isn't dp x dc but I just needed to share this coz I made myself laugh a lot with this.
So a little context, Jarro is an alien "Star Conqueror" that was veryyy briefly made robin in Justice League Vol 4 #10. He was grown, named and adopted by Batman. Jarro even calls him dad (it's really cute):
Tumblr media
Anyway, I'm pretty sure he's never mentioned again after that.
So yeah, with that in mind I had the crack idea of the batfam meeting Jarro and just being really jealous (while everyone around them is just: "That... is a literal starfish")
So a few lines I've got:
“Of course, dad!” Jarro says.
Jason jolts at that. Once upon a time, he used to call B that. He'd been the only one to do so. Not anymore.
Damian: I am the only blood heir.
Jarro: He was with me my whole childhood. He litteraly grew me in a jar. He named me.
“His bio father was a villain,” steph says caustically. “A global one, too. But get this, his dad flipped sides in the end and sacrificed his own life.”
Harper stays silent and Steph sighs.
“It just. It makes you think. What do you think I would’ve been like if my dad had been more like Starro?”
“More like the giant starfish from space?”
“Yeah.”
Roy: He looks like Patrick from Spongebob?
Jason: Oh, I see how it is. Fine! If you like Jarro so much maybe you should hang out with him, then. How about you join B to play catch with him while you’re at it?
Roy: He- he doesn’t even have opposable thumbs.
Jason: Urgh. That just mean B probably has the glove custom-made.
Cassie: He is the size of my literal palm.
Tim: I know! He’s pocket-sized. I bet B loves being able to carry him around.”
Cassie: Um
Tim: He rides on B’s shoulder! His fucking shoulder, Cassie!
Cassie: Do. Do you want B to carry you on his shoulder?
Tim: That is so not the point! And B has the gall to say he doesn’t have favourites.
“Good at hiding.” Cass observes. “Small.”
“He’s- he’s a starfish, Cass.”
She nods gravely. “No tells.” Then her brow furrow. “Can read minds. Better than reading body.” She hunches a bit. “Better than me.”
“It’s just I thought I was the only one with powers, you know?” Duke starts. “Not that I don’t like him or anything. It’s just. That was my thing you know? Or like, it used to be.”
Claire just looks at him blankly.
Dick sighs as he looks up to the ceiling, his head laying on Starfire’s lap.
“It’s just.” Dick halts, hesitant and his voice quieter than usual. “I thought I was the pretty one.”
(Ok, I'm done)

Sorry, it took an entire google to find out that Jarro is short for Starro in a Jar, since he's just a hunk of an alien conqueror dude who lives in a jar, and he just... lives in hq? And Batman's his dad?? I love him. Little alien boy. He's People. He's adopted. He's like the homunculus from FMA but like...little kid. Very frightened. 10/10. Jarro should hang out more.

DP x DC crossover
I was today years old when I discovered about Jarro, the Starro in a Jar.
A literal alien starfish belonging to a predator warmonger dangerous species, whose parent was a reformed supervillain.
A kid, who considers Batman his dad and aspires to become the bestest Robin ever.
Who has telepathy, can change size and mind control people with spores (to keep them safe from a supervillain).
Does any of these sound familiar? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
So, what would happen if Danny and Jarro meet?
Would they bond over being different from everyone around them?
Over trying to fit in, even if they're Apex predators among lambs?
Over being feared because of what they are, not who they are?
Over having terrifying powers that could potentially end the most powerful being on Earth (see Dan and that time when Jarro mind-controlled the whole JL so that they wouldn't face a big bad villain that could kill them)?
Over being left alone/behind when everyone else would/could die (because of old age or enemies)?
There are so many possibilities!
This is Jarro, btw:

@stealingyourbones isn't he adorable? (*´ω`*)

More character designs - this time, every kid sidekick to work with or for Batman ever, because I got massively carried away. In order:
Dick Grayson, 28 (Robin I / Nightwing)
Barbara Gordon, 30 (Batgirl I / Oracle)
Jason Todd, 22 (physically 20) (Robin II / Red Hood)
Tim Drake, 17 (Robin III / Red Robin)
Stephanie Brown, 17 (Robin IV / Batgirl III)
Cassandra Cain, 19 (Batgirl II / Black Bat)
Damian Wayne, 10 (Robin V)
Duke Thomas, 15 (Signal)
Carrie Kelly, 13 (Robin ??? Look I love her too much to leave her off a list like this but I'll be the first to admit I've got no clue where she would actually fall)
Harper Row, 18 (Blue Bird)
Cullen Row, 12
Terry McGuiness, 3? (a baby, I guess? In this timeline at least?)
Jarro the Starro in a Jar, 0 (Best Robin by far)
Tiffany Fox, 14 (Batgirl IV?)
Bette Kane, 25 (Batgirl / Flamebird / Snuck in without being noticed)
I don't know if I'll ever add to this in terms of a story, but it was a lot of fun to come up with different faces for everyone, trying to account for things like age, face shape, life experiences, in one case species (still can't believe we were blessed with starfish-robin from space, 10/10 no notes)
Some poor Justice Leaguer: "So, how many kids ya got?"
Batman: *screaming*

I have been flirting around with a few DP x DC fic ideas (as an author does), and I have come across what I think is my equivalent of Chekhov's Gun. And that is:
The Joker's Crowbar
Essentially, if the Joker is mentioned/appears as a character in Act I, he must be killed off no later than the end of Act II. The "who," "where," "when," and "why" of the matter are subject to change, but the "how" remains forever constant: the Joker must get beaten to death with a crowbar.
Some other laws of The Joker's Crowbar include:
The Joker must remain dead. No revisions, no take-backs, no Lazarus Pit. "The Joker is beaten to death with a crowbar" remains a full and true sentence from the moment of the deed onward.
It should not be a super-powered beat down. The character wielding the crowbar can have powers, if you so desire, but they cannot use them to kill the Joker. Why they don't use their powers is a decision up to the author, but I believe it is thematically important that the Joker, a larger-than-life shadow that has terrorized so many for so long, is ultimately defeated by a "regular" person using good-ol'-fashioned fisticuffs and a crowbar.
While I think it's more impactful if the Joker is killed by a "civilian," if you want a member of the Batfam to be the one to kill the Joker, by all means be my guest. However, there are two (2) people the Joker can never be killed by: Bruce Wayne and Jason Todd. Bruce can never kill the Joker because his code against killing should remain intact. Jason can never kill the Joker because his second life should not be dedicated to the man who ultimately destroyed his first. Everyone else, though? Go nuts. Dick can kill the Joker, Tim can kill the Joker, Damian can kill the Joker, Cass can kill the Joker. Steph, Kate Kane, Harper Row, Duke, and/or Lucius Fox can all kill the Joker. Obscure members like David Zavimbe and Claire Clover can kill the Joker. If you want Jarro to kill the Joker, then by golly, Jarro the Starro in a Jar gets to kill the Joker. So long as it's not Bruce and Jason, then you're good. I by and large like to have the Joker killed by outside influences, but even I am not immune to letting specific Batfam members go feral. My first picks, though, will always and forever be Alfred and Barbara.
The Death of the Joker should not be the be-all-end-all of the plot. If the list is followed and the Joker is dead by the end of Act II, then we have all of Act III still left to get through. This rule, however, of all listed, is the most flexible. I do think it's funny though if Joker getting wrecked is like... a B-plot, at best.
And that is the writing rule of The Joker's Crowbar. It's not a writing rule you have to adhere to, but I think it's interesting that all of my WIPs seem to be following this pattern, and I was wondering if anyone else could relate.

If the batfam were How To Train Your Dragon dragons, what would they be? Not as riders with dragon partner but like, straight up as dragons from the franchise. What type of dragons would they each be, what class and size and all of that.
Batfamily Members:
Bruce Wayne (Batman)
Alfred Pennyworth
Kate Kane (Batwoman)
Barbara Gordon (Oracle)
Dick Grayson (Nightwing)
Cassandra Cain (Black Bat)
Jason Todd (Red Hood)
Harper Row (Bluebird)
Stephanie Brown (Spoiler)
Tim Drake (Red Robin)
Duke Thomas (Signal)
Cullen Row
Damian Wayne (Robin)
Carrie Kelley (Robin)
Jarro the Starro in a Jar
Helena Wayne
I am also open to others that aren't a part of the batfamily but am mostly wanting them at the moment.

Jarro is a jar-sized Starro Batman adopted in an Elseworlds story that the fandom either absolutely loves or absolutely hates on account of being both extremely stupid as a concept and also the child Bruce is the most consistently a good parent to. Yes, he was Robin on his Earth.
I also got this Anon ask
I’m begging you, please do not put Jarro in the Batfam AU
and I don't know if this is the same Anon or just an example of Anon's point.
In any case I had literally never heard of Jarro before today and I'm planning on sticking fairly close to the Bruce Timm-verse on account of it being what I know the best, so it probably wasn't going to make it anyway.
