Exploitative
CEO ! Taehyung × reader
Masterlist
Tumblr media
You could hear shouting coming from the CEO's office as you tried to work as quietly as possible on your computer.

Within a few minutes, the CEO's secretary came out, huffing and puffing, tears in her eyes as she quickly walked out of the office,never to be seen again.
Yet another poor soul who faced the wrath of your demon boss.
It was nothing new. You had joined the company a few months ago and this was the fifth time the CEO changed his secretary.
He had quite the temper and attitude. Everyone was scared of him, including you.
Kim Taehyung walked out of his office ,causing everyone to go back to their work quietly , forgetting the drama that just occurred.
He raked his eyes over the office in a bad mood .
Until he spotted you.
You looked like a cute little bunny who was trying hard to pretend that she wasn't nervous.
He could see it in your trembling fingers on the keyboard trying to get some work done.
 Such a beautiful sight.
He thought it was cute how you were trying to look unaffected when you definitely knew that he was eyeing you.
You made all of his anger disappear and he felt happy just by looking at you. His face curved up in a smile as he went back to his office.
He finally found something which made him look forward to work in the office filled with useless employees.
Over time Taehyung installed more cameras in the area where you worked, where you had lunch and where you conversed with other people so that he could keep track of you. He even started talking to all the other employees, behaving nicely and toning down his temper whenever he was in front of you to make a good impression.
He started having lunch at your table with your co-workers, conversing with them like a friend and not a boss. Over time you got comfortable with him, making small talk whenever you passed by his office or when you met him at the elevator.
It was just another day of Taehyung spying on you through his secret camera gushing at how cute you are when suddenly ,your colleague ,Choi Yeonjun walked towards your cubicle and started conversing with you.
All he could see was red.
How dare you speak to another man except him?
You were going to get punished.
He calmed himself down and tuned into the conversation between the love of his life and the man who was going to get fired today.
"Promise you won't tell anyone." Yeonjun said , holding out his pinky finger.
You nodded, eager to listen to the tea he was about to spill, intertwining your pinky with his. "Promise!"
"I'm gay".
"I knew it!" You say, excitedly and slap his arm.
"And I have  the hots for Soobin."
You started giggling, nudging his elbow in a teasing manner and raising your eyebrows with a sly smile and a wink.
Taehyung relaxed hearing that Yeonjun wasn't interested in you, but he still was a man.
You should have known better than to talk or touch a man that's not him.
The same day, Yeonjun came running to your cubicle in anger. He grabbed you by the arms and yelled furiously at you.
"WHY DID YOU TELL HIM?? YOU PROMISED ME YOU WOULDN'T TELL ANYONE! THAT HOMOPHOBIC SON OF A BITCH FIRED ME! I TRUSTED YOU!"
"Yeonjun, what are you talking about? I didn't say a word to anyone about it!"
"Liar! I only told you!"
"But I really--"
"And what are you still doing here, Yeonjun? Pack your things and go." Taehyung interrupted your conversation, hands crossed over his chest, a stern look on his face.
Yeonjun threw you an angry glare before leaving.
Taehyung turned to you.
"Y/N, I have some work for you. "
You followed him into his spacious office where he gave you some files and told you to complete them by the day.
Sigh. Overtime once again.
And you lost a friend.
Could this day get any worse?
You stretched your arms after doing all the work Taehyung had assigned. Everyone had left already. You stood up to grab your bag and wear your coat so you could drop the files at Taehyung's office and leave for home.
Fortunately, Taehyung himself came to your cubicle.
"Thank you Y/N, but I have just a little work left for you to do."
You inwardly groaned.
Giving him a tired smile, you nodded and shrugged off your coat.
"No no, it doesn't take a lot of time, you just have to sign here." He showed you where to sign.
Since you were incredibly tired and it was getting really late, you just signed where he told you to.
Taehyung gave you his signature rectangular smile." Perfect! Now let me drop you home. "
" No sir! It's fine, I can go home by myself."
"Nonsense, I kept you so late in here.How can I let a girl go alone? Come with me."
You had no choice but to comply. Your feet were aching and the buses might have stopped running at this time. Plus, you will get to ride in a brand new Tesla. Who are you to deny such an opportunity ?
" Thank you sir. "
You both went down to the basement and got into his car. Taehyung had turned the AC on and the car seats were incredibly comfortable; they felt like a mattress. Topped with the immense work you did today, you felt really drowsy.
"You can sleep if you want to, I have your address from your employee form. All the data is in my mobile, so I'll wake you up when we get to your place."
You thanked him once again and fell asleep in a matter of seconds.
~~~~~~~~~
You wake up in an unfamiliar bed, in an unfamiliar room.
You look down to see yourself covered in a silk nighty and start freaking out.
Taehyung came in with a tray in his hands.
" Wifey, I bought you-"
"WHY did you bring me here?You said you knew my address. You even changed my clothes! You psychotic son of a--"
You couldn't complete your sentence because of a bang in the room. Taehyung held a gun in his hand and had shot a hole in the ceiling.
"Why would I bring my wife to a separate house? Married couples live together. Look wifey, you even signed the marriage papers yesterday!" He says, handing you the papers from last night with your signature on them.
You thought they were for a business deal.
He tricked you.
And you fell for it.
Taehyung caressed your hand, which was adorned with a beautiful and of course, an expensive diamond ring.
 Tears fell out from your sockets as you realised your mistake. Taehyung was quick to wipe them.
"I won't ever let you go" He says, before pulling you into a passionate kiss.
You had brought this upon yourself.
And there was no way out.
ceo tae loves spideykoo
Taehyung wonders how wine can be so arrogantly expensive but still taste like the musty underside of a rusty coin.
The wine Jeongguk sneaks to Taehyung’s apartment every Wednesday midnight, bought just from the alcohol store around the corner, tastes a whole lot better than the one he's sipping right now. More like sweet, fuzzy warmth, like Jungkook pouring him a glass then pressing a quick kiss to his lips that nearly topples them over. And there's the flavourful tang, like Jeongguk nipping at his teeth when the night gets clumsier, touchier. Panting breaths and giggles muffled by each other's lips.
Now that Taehyung thinks about it, maybe the cheap wine's better  simply because he has it with Jeongguk.
And Jeongguk never fails to cover him in sticky wine-stained kisses until they’re both on the verge of falling asleep on the couch, with some ratty B-grade horror movie playing on the TV. Those are the nights that Taehyung looks forward to.
Nothing but soggy fries, cheap wine, warm nights, a /very/ kissy, touchy, clingy boyfriend, and shitty movies. Pure bliss.
But tonight is, unfortunately, not one of those nights.
No. Instead, Taehyung is trapped in a gold-plated corner with heavy velvet draped curtains hanging down on either side of him and a diamond chandelier hanging above his head. Somehow, he feels like they’ll close in if he doesn’t sip at the abhorrent wine in his hands and pretend to like it.
All because he’d been invited to some social event. How unfortunate.
Granted, Taehyung is not being very social right now. Maybe he nods once or twice to the group that's formed around him, makes some off-handed comment, just to keep up appearances.
Really, his mind has drifted off to somewhere else. More specifically, someone else.
A certain boyfriend that likes to sneak into whatever room Taehyung is in at 3am, whether it be his office or bedroom, just to curl up in his arms. Jeongguk would always be a bit cold, nose tipped red and icy whenever Taehyung kissed it, because the winds outside were freezing.
“...And, oh, the mahogany decorations! I /must/ show them to you...” The croaky voice of some middle-aged businesswoman that’s been trying to get anyone’s attention drones on and on.
But Taehyung tunes out even more when his phone buzzes in his pocket.
Like a goddamn carousel at a circus, Taehyung's mind comes back around to Jeongguk. Because Jeongguk likes to talk a lot, too, but only to people he's comfortable with.
Place him in a room with Taehyung's friends and he's as quiet as a shy bunny, hands wrapped around Taehyung's arm like he'd die if Taehyung left him alone.
Leave Jeongguk in a room with his friends — say, Iron Man, for example — and he'd talk for a whole hour about the extreme details of the pasta he'd had for dinner three weeks ago. Taehyung loves it when he's like that, voice pouring out and fired up and he just wants to swallow it all up in kisses.
Taehyung's phone buzzes in his pocket again. Discreetly, he takes it out, but no one seems to pay him any attention.
My prof just reminded us about our essay and i really need some emotional support right now
Thats you.
Youre my emotional support.
TAE: darling
JK:
oHH BABY
HEHLOO
OH M GOD]
“...Isn’t that right, Taehyung?”
Taehyung’s eyes snap back up at the sound of his name. They land on Croaky Lady, whose eyes are practically bugging out as she stares intently at Taehyung.
He takes a sip of his wine to bide time. What were they talking about? Mahogany? Fuck.
Taehyung nods slowly. “Absolutely.”
Croaky Lady stares at him for one beat. Then, another. Everyone else is also staring at him. Taehyung sips more wine and tries not to wince at the chills trickling down his back.
Well, this is awkward.
Just a little. Just enough that he really wants to throw himself out of the building and disappear to a new continent to start a new life (preferably with a certain Jeon Jeongguk in the scene). Nothing too dramatic.
Finally, Croaky Lady smacks a wide grin on her face. “See! The prestigious CEO agrees. So, these chartreuse shipments…”
Taehyung lets out a slow sigh of relief.
Then, he diverts his attention back to where it’s endlessly more important: his clingy Spidey.
JK:
I MMISED YOUU
TAE: gguk
JK: yes daddy
Sugar
Daddy sugar
TAE: i cant believe you
JK: i miss you]
Taehyung takes a large sip of his wine, if only to cover the upwards quirk of his lips and the blush on his cheeks. Trust Jeongguk to turn every night into something sweet, even if he’s not there.
The CEO gnaws on his lip to stop his grin from being too wide or mushy.
[TAE: i miss you too, darling
Just a few more hours
JK: HOURS???
TAE: mhm
JK: what about…. Minutes
TAE: well, it’ll seem longer if you think about it in minutes.
JK: no, i mean what if you get out of that social event in a few minutes instead of hours.
TAE: what
JK: sneak out]
Taehyung chokes on his wine.
“Taehyung, are you oka—”
Taehyung waves the question away, sucking in a deep, ragged breath. “Yeah. Just gonna… Bathroom.”
Croaky Lady gives him a sympathetic look. “Go on, dear. You seem feverish.”
Taehyung assumes she’s talking about the pink warmth on his face and the stupid turn of his lips. Really, he’s just blushing and trying to stop the blooming smile on his face, but he must look quite constipated right now.
“Thank you.”
With that, Taehyung makes his hasty escape. He dumps his wine glass at the bar counter and strolls towards the toilets with long, purposeful strides.
People glance at him, like they want to engage him in conversation. But no one ever wants to stop someone else who looks like they’re on a mission. Especially if they’re heading towards the bathrooms. If people decide to think he's got an overactive bowel, then that's their problem.
At least Taehyung can talk to Jeongguk in peace.
And he can also stop pretending to enjoy the shitty wine.
Taehyung unlocks his phone as soon as he gets in and calls Jeongguk.
“Darli—”
“Tae, babe.” Jeongguk’s voice sounds muffled, like something's rushing by. Is that the wind? “Hey.”
“...What are you doing?”
From Jeongguk’s end, a car honks and Jeongguk hisses out a swear. “No— shit! — I mean, nothing.”
“Gguk.”
“Okay, okay.” There’s a thump, the distinct sound of boots hitting something hard, and Jeongguk lets out a long breath. “So, you know how I said I missed you and all of that?”
“Hm. Can't remember. Did you?”
“Babe.”
Taehyung laughs lightly. “I’m joking, darling. I miss you too. I remember.”
“Good. D’you also remember how I said you can leave in a few minutes?”
“Is this you giving me permission to leave at a social event you were never invited to?”
Jeongguk pauses. “Hell yeah.”
“The way your mind works amazes me.”
“Well, you’re welcome.” Jeongguk sucks in a deep breath and the sound of rushing wind breaks his voice up again. “Because I’m right above the balcony of your fancy dinner place.”
And Taehyung’s heart promptly drops to his ass. “You’re what?”
“Yeah, babe. Just got here and, fuck, it's cold tonight.” Jeongguk sounds a little breathless, but there’s a certain curl to his words that tells Taehyung he’s absolutely ecstatic. Grinning, cheeks flushed. Taehyung can imagine it so vividly. “I’m here. Where’re you? Can’t find you.”
“Jeongguk, holy fuck. Did you swing all the way here?” Taehyung strides out of the bathrooms and doors bang shut behind him. More people turn to stare, but Taehyung is too busy looking for the balcony. He lowers his voice to a murmur. “What if someone sees you? Some random college boy with Spiderman’s powers. They’ll know who you are—”
“Relax, Tae. I’m wearing my suit.”
“Oh my fucking god.”
Taehyung ends the call.
And, there, the balcony. Taehyung walks as fast as he can through the throng of people strewn across the dining room. He’s sure someone calls his name. They sound awfully like Croaky Lady, but he couldn't care less.
Someone else steps in his path. Some balding, stout man with a greasy grin and two wine glasses in hand. Before he can offer one, Taehyung swerves out of his path. He thinks it’s a better choice than smacking the stupid wineglass out of the man’s hands.
When Taehyung throws the balcony doors open, he’s greeted with a frigid brush of air. So sudden, forceful, that the handles fly out of his grip and crash against the wall on either side of him.
He sucks in a harsh breath.
Shit.
That might’ve gotten a few people’s attention.
Still, he steps out to a view of the busy main road and distant skyscrapers. There’s a few clouds hovering tonight, the moon waxy and faded. And it’s all pretty and gorgeous and oh-so-magnificent, but it’s missing one important detail.
His Jeongguk. Spidey. Darling.
Then, there’s a warm hand cupping his face, tilting it up ever so gently.
Taehyung’s wide eyes land upon Spiderman’s mask, hovering upside down before him. They’re so close that Taehyung feels his nose brush against the fabric. So close that Taehyung can hear Jeongguk’s awed murmur as he swipes his thumb softly across Taehyung’s cheekbone.
The words are blown away by the wind, but Taehyung knows Jeongguk enough to know that they run along the lines of "so fucking beautiful. Fuck, babe."
Jeongguk takes the hand away from Taehyung's face and brings it to his mask, tugging it down. And Taehyung has to fight down the urge to whine from the loss of warmth, of his boyfriend’s touch.
But there’s a smile on Jeongguk’s pretty pink petal lips. The mole under his bottom one, and Taehyung wants to kiss it over and over again.
But there are people watching. Nearly everyone now, actually, because of Spiderman’s unexpected appearance.
The respected hero the city has only seen from afar, up in the sky, hanging upside down from one balcony. All intimately close to a certain CEO. Because everything Jeongguk is doing right now — the gentle touches, the delicate movements, the raw attention devoted to Taehyung — it's nothing but pure intimacy.
The kind that makes Taehyung's head feel light, heart stuttering.
But even if people stare, it seems that Jeongguk doesn’t care, though.
Not when he cups Taehyung’s face again, hand trailing up to brush Taehyung’s hair back from his forehead, and presses a soft kiss to his forehead. “Missed you,” Jeongguk whispers.
“Missed you too, darling.” Dazed. Taehyung is dazed. Spellbound. “What are you—”
“Can I kiss you?”
Taehyung should say no. There are people watching, and Taehyung is at a very respectable event. News of this will spread out like wildfire, and journalists will come flocking at his building. There are so many repercussions, so many things to consider before he even considers kissing Jeongguk now.
But when Jeongguk’s hand comes back down, and his thumb presses against Taehyung’s bottom lip before gently running along it, every thought flies out of Taehyung’s head.
He can only nod.
That’s all Jeongguk needs before he’s leaning in and slotting their lips together.
There’s a few gasps in the background, one particularly croaky. A shattering noise — possibly someone dropping their wine glass. Good fucking riddance. Utter silence, other than that.
But all Taehyung can focus on is Jeongguk and his lips. Jeongguk tilting his head and diving in deeper. Jeongguk and the smile in his kisses, the hand caressing Taehyung’s face. Jeongguk and the small pecks he presses against Taehyung’s lips, the “I missed you”s and “babe, babe. So sweet”s whispered in a hushed breath.
It's a little awkward, but they make it work. And, goddammit, with the way Jeongguk dives deep with the kisses, Taehyung is left utterly breathless. Breathless but the burn in his lungs feel delicious when Jeongguk sighs against his lips — a soft, heat-curling thing that Taehyung captures in his mouth with another languid kiss.
When they break off, Taehyung feels a little loopy. And he’s sure his hair is a mess now. Jeongguk has a habit of running his hands through it, leaving it in tangled, knotty chaos.
Taehyung only has one more dazed moment to stare before Jeongguk pulls himself up and out of Taehyung’s view.
Before Taehyung can blink, though, Jeongguk has dropped down to his feet on the balcony. His mask is tugged back down, but Taehyung can hear Jeongguk clearly when he wraps an arm around Taehyung’s waist and murmurs, “ready to go?”
"We really just gave them a show, didn't we?" Taehyung rests his forehead on Jeongguk’s, eyes fluttering closed. He doesn't feel like looking at all the scandalised, shocked eyes. “Take me home, darling.”
“Mhm.” Jeongguk comes in closer, pressing their chests together. “Hold on tight, babe.”
Taehyung loops his arms around Jeongguk’s shoulders and tucks his face into the crook of Jeongguk’s neck. Oh, Jeongguk smells like vanilla and something smoky. He must've been playing around with Taehyung's colognes again. It makes something warm seep into Taehyung’s chest despite the frigid night air. “Got it.”
Taehyung doesn’t even look back when Jeongguk takes them away, into the night.
Fuck that pitiful, ass-kissing social event and its equally pitiful wine.
There’s nowhere else he’d rather spend his night than in Jeongguk’s arms, passing some lukewarm dollar-store alcohol between each other as they get buzzed with every passing hour.
Warm, fuzzy, sweet.
Perfect.
—-
“Babe.” Jeongguk has five Rolex watches on each arm, looking like some rip-off time-obsessed Iron Man. “What did you think about that kiss?”
“Which one?” Taehyung leans down and pressed three kisses to Jeongguk’s hair. Jeongguk sighs contentedly, face smushed into his chest. Taehyung smiles, soft and fond, as he looks at his boyfriend. “That one? Or the ones five minutes ago? Or…?”
“Upside down.” Jeongguk peers up at him. His lips are stained red, and Taehyung wants to kiss them again. “The upside down one.”
“I thought it was pretty hot.”
“Fuck yeah.”
Taehyung snorts. “Why?”
“‘Cuz it made me feel dizzy. You’re a very passionate, breathtaking kisser, babe.” Jeongguk pokes his side, making Taehyung squirm. He grins at Taehyung’s unimpressed look. “Made me so very breathless. I think I saw stars. But that could’ve just been all the blood rushed to my head.”
“Darling, I swear to—”
“We should try it again. I’ll hang off the ceiling next time. Really give everyone a show.”
“Gguk, no. It's only been a few hours and there's already a million articles about that kiss. I think that's enough shows for the public for now—”
“Fuck it.” Jeongguk sits up suddenly, eyes blazing. “I’ll hang off the chandelier.”
“Jeongguk.”
But Taehyung is smiling, wide and silly and so unbelievably endeared. Heart beating slow in his chest, because everything about Jeongguk feels like the warm rush of sweet honey in his veins.
Everything, especially the kisses he presses against Taehyung’s skin, his lips, his breathless words, for the rest of the night.
Severance - BTS OT7 CEO au Chapter 16
Tumblr media
So did anybody guess what was on the news? I thought it was rather obvious (it’s getting harder and harder to find gifs I haven’t used)
Prev / Next
“Care to explain this Y/n,” Junmyeon says, reaching for the remote and pressing play.
You feel your world freeze, the newscasters lips moving but the thumping in your ears drowns her out. Footage after footage of your dates, the three maknaes and you at the airport, date stamped proving you played hooky, there was nothing you could say to disprove the videos, not when in every single one they steal a kiss.
Your mouth opens but nothing comes out, not even a breath goes in, you’re stuck. You don’t see anything but the screen where the secret you so desperately wanted to keep was aired out for the world to witness. You don’t see Jongin desperately texting Jimin under the desk, what you do see is the channel cut to a newscaster introducing the last woman you ever expected to see, the shock filling your lungs with air so fast it makes you dizzy. Your eyes sting with tears as she starts talking, was this karma? Was this the universe telling you you made the wrong choice, that you should never have fallen for them, that you were too greedy for their love. Was this the price, the consequences?
“I think she’s hyperventilating,” the voice sounds muffled, your ears feel like they're full of burning cotton but at least someone has the sense to turn the screen off. Baekhyun fills your vision instead, hands on your shoulders with worried eyes on your form.
“Cars coming to pick her up, back entrance,” you recognise it's Jongin that’s speaking but the word’s go over your head.
Someone hands you a tissue but you don’t register the gesture until you hear a sigh. Chanyeol gently wipes your tears away, the stern look on his face softening when you look up at him. The sound of the phone ringing sounds so distant, like it was at the end of the tunnel. Jongin answers it before handing it to Junmyeon.
“Namjoon,” he greets through the line, the sound of his tone cutting through the fog you were drowning in. Joonie, you wanted nothing more than to be buried in his arms away from all this, but he wasn’t here. Whatever he was saying though the line made your current boss stare at you with an accusation that didn’t budge.
“We need to get her out without any more commotion,” he says to the others stiffly after he cuts the call.
“I’ll sort out the employees,” Kyungsoo states walking out.
The silence that follows is palpable, the lead CEO breaks it with a sigh, and you know it’s due to the aftermath he would have to deal with because of your decisions. He moves to walk past you, but you grab his sleeve before he can. You try not to flinch under his stare, your hands trembling where they hold him.
“I’m so sorry,” you say as sincerely as you can through a hoarse whisper. He acknowledges your words with a nod before he leaves. You’re quickly ushered to the corridor by the others, the sight of them shielding you like your own personal bodyguards would make you chuckle on any other day, but you were still shaking like a leaf.
All that work, all those years of making something of yourself, all the sacrifices and it came to this. Your life exposed to the world in a way that would cause it ruin. Your future at e.xo was done, no other company would ever employ you, you could never go back to work for bangtan. Everything was gone.
“Yeah we’re in the car, we got her out safe,” Seokjin says through the phone while Yoongi drives, his eyes glancing at you with worry.
A question Namjoon asks on the phone had Jin tensing, looking at you hesitantly. Is she okay?
“She’s not saying anything, she’s just shaking,” he sighs, he wanted to say more, how you were staring at the floor despondently, how when Jin tried to hold your hand to comfort you, you tensed and turned away.
The fear in their hearts that you regretted everything you had with them made Jin pull away, all he could do was be grateful they got to you before the media did, and in the tinted vehicle you were at least safe.
“It’s safe to go back to the mansion,” Jin tells Yoongi when he hangs up the call.
The drive is silent, they didn’t know what to say, everytime they tried the words died before they could form. Security was back in full force at their estate, running out any media outlet that tried to sneak close, their lawyers were having a field day. Not to mention the commotion at the office as they walked out, the whispers conjugated together so loud, not even Namjoon’s glare could silence them.
The gates open to the estate, and Yoongi can hear his heartbeat thumping faster and faster in his ears, it felt like they were coming to an impasse and there was no going back. The car slows to a stop, and as he kills the engine all they can do is stare at you.
Move. You had to move.
You could hear a faint commotion outside, the three maknaes running towards the car but a stern look from Yoongi stopped them in their tracks. Worry, anticipation, anxiety, no one knew exactly what concoction of emotions paralysed them, what made them hesitate to reach out to you.
“Kitten,” Yoongi starts softly, “you need to talk to us.”
That made you move, the door opening without a word in return. Your legs work against you, feeling like lead on twigs, a second away from collapsing. You couldn’t speak right now, your whole body felt empty and yet the weight of thoughts in your head made you need to bury it. You wanted your bed, you wanted to hide, and you wanted to be alone.
Yoongi shares a look with Jin, the hurt flashing between both of them at your rejection but they try not to take it to heart. You never wanted your relationship with them made public, not yet at least, you weren’t ready for the backlash, but now the choice was taken from you in the most heinous way.
“Noona,” Jungkook calls for you gently, a sadness in his eyes at the way you were walking with your head hanging low. Jimin holds him back, understanding better than anyone how you were feeling. He used to do the same, when something went wrong, when he made a mistake, he cut himself off from everyone, it would be a mistake to approach you until you were ready, until the voices in your head either broke you or quietened down.
The steps to the front door took so much energy from you, you didn’t think you had any left. You could feel them walking behind you at a distance, and yet it didn’t feel far enough or close enough. Something inside of you was tearing its way out and you didn’t know if you wanted to be embraced through it or to suffer it alone the way you had before so many times.
“Y/n,” Namjoon didn’t get the memo, he tries to embrace you but feels you stiffen against him, letting go immediately to look at your face with worry. “Baby girl, we'll fix this, okay? We-”
You push him away and he looks at you in shock, you didn’t want to hear it right now, you were barely holding yourself together. Voices were pounding inside of your head, the same repeated phrases over and over about how all your work was ruined, it was all for nothing, all your dreams, all your efforts. You couldn’t handle anything right now, you just needed your bed and to cry yourself to sleep alone.
“Y/n talk to me,” Namjoon says sternly, brows knitted at the way you didn’t even look at him.
He blocks your path when you try to walk past him, why didn’t he understand what you needed right now? You hear him sigh, as if his patience with you was wearing thin.
“Baby girl, you always do this,” he says, holding onto your shoulders to ground you, to keep you from leaving him. “You shut yourself down, you punish yourself, you push us away and then you break.”
“You can’t do that anymore sunshine,” Hoseok says standing beside you. “We’re in a relationship, we’re in this together, your pain is our pain Y/n.”
They watch you shake your head, bowing your head down so low as they hear the telltale sniffle that turns into a violent sob. Namjoon is quick to catch you in his arms, hushing your softly, stroking your hair until you calmed. All the while guilt ate him up, this was his fault, he could see it in all of their eyes as they watched you fall apart.
The house was solemn and quiet, you had retreated upstairs to your room, Jimin staying beside you while you slept.
“We underestimated that bitch,” Yoongi breaks the silence with what they were all thinking. They’re all scattered around the living room, Jungkook sitting deep in thought on the headrest of the sofa, Yoongi on the seat beside him. Namjoon sat opposite them with Hoseok on the armrest, Jin pacing the room slowly while Taehyung sat on the floor with his face in his hands. The black face of the TV on the wall stared at them, taunting them with what it held inside. The face broadcasted alongside yours and theirs was one that they barely remembered, but she had the audacity to be interviewed by any news outlet desperate enough for a story. They didn’t want to turn on the TV and see her face.
“She signed an NDA,” Namjoon says, a headache forming, “we didn’t think she was going to be a problem.”
“That’s where arrogance gets us,” Jin scoffs.
“Flower worked so hard for so long,” Taehyung says quietly, mourning for you. They all knew it better than anyone.
“We’ll fix this,” Namjoon states, he wouldn’t rest until they did.
“Namjoon be real for a second,” Hoseok sighs, “we might not be able to fix it.”
“No company is going to take her without an agenda,” Jungkook pipes in stoically.
“Or without thinking she’s a corporate spy,” Jin agrees.
“We can’t control everyone and everything,” Hoseok finishes, patting the lead CEO on the shoulder sympathetically.
“And we definitely can’t ignore a problem away,” Yoongi scoffs, staring daggers into Namjoon.
“Let’s not start this now,” Jin warns, feeling Namjoon’s guilt from a mile away.
“What does he mean?” Jungkook asks, feeling confused.
“Namjoon’s been burning threats concerning us,” Yoongi continues accusatively.
“We never opened those letters,” Namjoon argues back, “we don’t know what they contained.”
“Well we know now,” Yoongi says mockingly. He hated when you were upset, the feeling made his own claws unsheath, ready to tear into anyone who was held responsible.
“We don’t know the two things are connected,” Hoseok tries to defend their lead.
“Don’t be stupid Hobi,” Yoongi seethes, “Kitten’s whole career has gone down the drain because of us, what the fuck is she going to do if she finds out?”
“You best hope she doesn’t,” Taehyung snapped, his earlier melancholy now fueled by fear.
“We can’t keep this from her,” Hoseok shakes his head, disregarding the point.
“She’ll hate us,” Jungkook states, terrified it would manifest before his eyes soon.
“She’ll be angry at us,” Jin corrects him, “but we have to tell her.”
“Not now, it’s too soon,” Namjoon says quickly, his own fear warping his judgement.
“You should’ve opened one fucking letter,” Yoongi can’t let it go, all of this could’ve been avoided if it wasn’t for Namjoon’s stupid stubbornness.
“What good is bringing that up now going to do?” Hoseok sighs again.
“We don’t know if it’s connected!” Namjoon yells exasperated. “What we do know is Shin Suran leaked the photos and the story, and she is going to fucking pay.”
“So you’re saying the CEOs fired you because you threatened to expose their relationship to HR?” Solar, the newscaster asks her aghast.
“Honestly, I didn’t want to expose their… relationship,” she can’t hide the disgust in her voice at the word, “but I was concerned for Y/n’s wellbeing, I thought maybe they were holding her job over her head until I found out she was only entertaining them to climb the corporate ladder.”
Both anchors were shocked, the information sending them reeling.
“I mean what self respecting young woman would sell herself like that? Y/n was never a team player, or very good at her job but somehow she was always favoured by the CEO’s. It should have been obvious really.”
“Wow, that’s a lot of information to unpack Suran,” Solar says. “Aren’t you scared of the repercussions, these are the world’s business leads you’re going up against.”
“I only want to convey the truth,” Suran lies through her teeth. “It isn’t fair that the women who have worked hard and devoted themselves to Bangtan corporations are not appreciated or given the opportunities they deserve.”
“But Miss L/n left bangtan corporations,” the other anchor Hwasa finally speaks after having watched the little snake for so long. Something didn’t sit right with her and this woman’s sickly sweet attitude, it stank of deceit and she wasn’t blind to it.
“I have it on good information that she was sent to spy on the competition,” Suran’s eyes narrow, not liking her tone of voice.
“That’s a wild allegation,” Hwasa replies, every bit the professional. “I hope you have the evidence to back it up.”
“Bangtan corporations are under serious investigation after allegations of corporate espionage came from their former employee…”
She smiles at the screen plating in front of her, the chaos unravelling in so many wonderful ways. The Sun was shining despite the winter air, how many interviews could she fit into one day? Many it seemed, and while the day was over there was always tomorrow to cause more havoc to your life. Now she would sit and bask in the TV light, watching all of her fire ignite.
She had only gotten cosy when the doorbell rang to her little flat, groaning as she went to the door to answer it.
“Shin Suran?”
The three piece suit should give away something serious was in the brown paper envelope in his hands but she couldn’t bring herself to show any respect to the figure. She sneered and rolled her eyes, this man might’ve looked intimidating but she was currently on a high from ruining your life, nothing was going to bring her power trip down.
“Wi HaJoon,” he continues in the absence of a greeting, handing her the envelope. “You’ve been served.”
“What?” That elicits a reaction out of her, for some reason she didn’t even contemplate there would be consequences for her actions, deluded into thinking she was untouchable.
“You’re being sued for stalking, defamation and breaking the nondisclosure agreement you signed.”
That wasn’t part of her plan, her jaw drops to the ground and she realises maybe she played her cards all wrong. In the violent web of wanting to destroy your life she didn’t realise all her defences were gone. Maybe he was right after all.
When you wake up, the sun begins to set and Jimin’s warmth engulfs you. The feeling is comforting but fleeting, unfortunately real life problems don’t fade just because you’re in his arms. You wanted to bury yourself in his hold, have him take everything away until you were ready to deal with it. Jungkook’s favourite grey sweatshirt swallows you whole, his smell calming your senses, you try to focus on it when your mind tries to swim through the thoughts that wanted you to drown.
The door creaks open, two figures cautiously peaking in whispering to themselves. When Tae notices you’re awake he takes a seat beside you, caressing your cheek in his palm gently, his thumb soothing your skin. His eyes are downtrodden.
Jungkook kneels on the floor next to you, taking your hand in his and covering it with hard kisses, resting his cheek where they intertwined.
You try to get up but Jimin beside you grumbles in discontent, shuffling closer mumbling something under his breath without opening his eyes. A chaste kiss to your shoulder where the fabric hangs off your skin, lets you know he’s awake but refusing to let you go. The gesture brings a small but genuine smile to your face, one that turns into confusion as the commotion downstairs gets louder.
The younger two give each other knowing glances, one you don’t miss.
“What’s going on?” You ask, voice still hoarse from crying.
The hesitation in both of them fills you with dread. Did something else happen?
“They’re just trying to sort things out bunny,” Jungkook tries to reassure you, “it’s nothing to worry about.”
Despite Taehyung not wanting you to find out, something sickened him at the idea of keeping secrets from you. He knew how the truth always found its way out, and he knew if you didn’t hear it from them, it would have worse repercussions.
“Tae?” you could see a storm in his eyes, a battle between the loyalty to the others and his love for you.
“The hyungs…” he hesitates, Jimin now fully awake and sitting up at his deep uncertain tone.
Jungkook looks at him imploring him not to say it yet, it was going to be too much to deal with so soon after this morning. You grab Jimin’s arm, pulling yourself up closer to Taehyung who now avoided your gaze.
“Guys what’s going on?”
“I’ve been here with you,” Jimin mumbles half asleep, his hair a soft mess on his head.
“Kookie?” you turn to the youngest who bites his lips nervously, doe eyes begging you not to ask him.
“You’re worrying me,” your nerves were shot, the trauma from this morning making you beyond paranoid. What could be worse than this morning, what weren’t they telling you.
“Jimin, Jungkook and I didn’t know,” Taehyung starts slowly, not wanting to put his hyung’s under the bus but he wasn’t going to let them shoulder the blame when they were innocent. Plus when this was over he had a feeling you would ostracise the older four for a while, he couldn’t handle being a part of that.
“Didn’t know what?” you ask tentatively, urging him to continue.
“I still don’t know,” Jimin grumbles, getting annoyed with the suspense.
“Namjoon Hyung has been getting letters,” Jungkook says when Taehyung pauses for too long. He sighs, cursing the hyung’s for keeping this from you when he knew the betrayal would crush you.
“What letters?”
Something ticks in Jimin’s brain, his sleep filled eyes going wide with realisation. The other day in the office, when the hyung’s went solemn, it was to do with that?
“We think…” Taehyung tries not to stumble over his words, “they were threats, about you or us, but we don’t know because…”
Threats? You’re sent reeling, did Namjoon know this was coming? And he did nothing to warn you, or confide in you?
“Because what?” you breathe, your voice heavy, eyes watering as your thoughts ran away from you. Jimin places an arm around your shoulders, trying to soothe you.
“He burned the letters before he opened them,” Jungkook finishes, feeling a deep rooted shame for his favourite hyung, and for selling him out.
“Angel…”
Jimin calls after you as you throw the covers off of you, storming downstairs to confront the men hiding things from you.
“Sunshine-”
“You’ve been getting threats and you didn’t tell me?”
They startle at your accusation, as right as it was, the four of them confounded until the younger three stumble in behind you. All four hyungs glance at them disgruntled and disappointed, this was not the way to handle things, the thought was hypocritical but justified in their minds.
“You didn’t tell me?” Your teary eyes pierce Yoongi with so much sadness, of all of them you never expected him to keep it from you, and for some reason it stung the worst.
“Kitten,” he tries reaching out to you, a vulnerable edge to his voice. He would let you scratch and claw at him until you were satisfied, anything to keep you from looking at him like that again.
“Babygirl it’s my fault,” Namjoon sighs, taking the edge of his hyung and shouldering all the blame. “I told them not to.”
You turn back to him with anger in your eyes.
“Namjoon you’re the lead at work but that doesn’t make you the lead in this relationship,” you snap. “You had no right to keep this from me!”
“I know,” he says, his voice small.
“How long have you been getting these letters?” You ask and he hangs his head in shame.
“Months…” he replies, “since you left the company.”
You stare at him appalled and it wounds him.
“You have the gall to tell me how to behave in this relationship Kim Namjoon,” Your voice is strained through the onslaught of angry tears. “And you keep this from me?”
“I didn’t know what the letters said,” he says as an excuse, and he knows it’s a feeble one.
You shake your head in disbelief.
“I thought you of all people would get it Joonie,” the way your voice breaks cuts through him with shame. “You built everything from the ground up, I admired you long before I loved you. So how the hell could you play with my future like this?”
“Baby girl that was never my intention,” he begs you to understand him now, that he didn’t behave nonchalant with a potential threat, he thought he was doing what was best.
“It doesn’t matter what your intention was! There was a clear right and wrong, and you know it.”
He bows his head again, you were right, he disrespected you when he didn’t discuss the letters with you, you should’ve made the decision together as to what to do with them. But in his heart he thought he was protecting you, protecting your peace and happiness, but all of that was a bubble set to burst.
“We don’t know that it’s connected beautiful,” Jin steps in between you, speaking as softly as he can knowing you were full of rage and sorrow, but he watched Namjoon take the blow and needed to shield him a little.
“We don’t know that it’s not,” you argued back. “We have no way of knowing, because instead of talking to me about something unpleasant, you guys decided to bury it.”
“Sunshine, I get that you’re upset-” Hoseok tries but the look of incredulous shock shuts him up.
“Upset?” you repeat, the strain in your voice carrying tears. “Everything I worked for, all my dreams, are gone.”
It was a struggle to get out every word, having to take a breath between each one, but you were determined to.
“No company is going to employ me, even if they do I’ll be subjugated to whispers and isolation and we know how that worked out last time.”
You sniffle, wiping your nose and tears with your sleeve. You wanted to appear strong but you were breaking down, didn’t they understand what they had done? Didn’t they care? Or were they so comfortable in their gold seats so far above you they forgot about their struggles on the way there?
“I didn’t join your company to seduce you, I wanted to work hard and make something of myself, maybe start my own company one day, but all of that is gone.”
“Kitten,” Yoongi dares himself to try again, to console you even if you pushed him away. He walks over to you, remembering all the times you seeked him out for comfort. It used to confound the others, how Mr Stoic Stone was the one that you reached for, and even though it was unusual for him to step into those shoes, with you it came so naturally. He wanted to be the one you searched for when you needed soothing, he never wanted to lose that connection he built with you, ever. He knew it was a privilege, one he never took for granted.
He hates the way you look at him now, it breaks his heart, those watering eyes showing how truly hurt you were while you tried to control the trembling of your bottom lip, tried to look strong in front of him.
“Whatever you think is gone, we can rebuild,” he takes your face in his hands, kissing the top of your head softly before looking into your eyes. “I am so sorry for not telling you, but I promise you whatever dreams you had will come true. It's just going to suck for a while and that’s our fault.”
“We know better than anyone how hard you work sunshine,” Hoseok smiles at you sadly, regretting not telling you.
“If you want a company babygirl, we’ll get you a company,” Namjoon’s own voice thick with remorse. “Whatever you want.”
“There’s enough space in the office for another desk,” Jimin tries to lighten the mood with a teasing lilt to his voice, but he’s not joking at all. “No one would dare to whisper about our angel CEO.”
You shake your head, removing Yoongi’s hold on you. They didn’t get it. You’ve worked for everything you had, it was how you had always been. You didn’t want to be handed a title you didn’t earn, or have your powerful boyfriends buy positions for you.
“Why would that be such a bad idea, beautiful?” Jin asks softly. “You’re more than capable.”
“I don’t need anyone thinking I slept my way to the top,” you scoff.
“Who cares what other people think, Kitten?” Yoongi sighs. “No one can deny you deserve a CEO position.”
You shake your head again, breathes of humourless laughter escaping your lips. They really didn’t get it. It was so easy to say that when you were untouchable to people’s words.
“You guys made the decision by yourselves to keep this from me,” you state, not looking at them but to the ground. “My career has nothing to do with you, whatever happens next is my choice.”
“Kitten-”
“You don’t have the right Yoongi,” you try to keep the anger out of your voice. “None of you do right now. I need to figure this out alone.”
“Are you breaking up with us?” Jungkook asks in a panic, not moving from the doorway, he would block your exit, he would fall to his knees and beg you to stay.
“No,” you reassure him with a syllable. “I love you, I always will, I’m just angry right now.”
“And you have every right to be,” Namjoon agrees solemnly.
“I just have one last thing on my mind,” you frown, an obvious question was left unanswered.
You face Namjoon, knowing he would hold the answer.
“You destroyed the letters before opening them,” it’s not a question but it sounds like one.
He nods, wondering where you were going with this.
“So how did you know they were threats?”
He hesitates, trying to build up the courage to tell you how he knew exactly who they were from.
“The return address,” Jin answers for him. “It was from the penitentiary.”
The realisation hits you, and for some reason it makes the whole situation so much worse. The accusation in your eyes returns as you gaze at Namjoon. He knew exactly what he was dealing with when he got rid of those letters, and looking at you now he knew he would have to beg for your forgiveness.
Bonus scene flashback:
Dear Kim Namjoon,
You haven’t responded to the last 6 letters I have sent, so either you’re not taking me seriously, or you haven’t read a single one. Both choices are not in anyone’s best interest, I don’t think you realise the situation you’ve put me in, I have nothing to lose.
The deadline is approaching for you to transfer the funds and secure my release. I am not spending years in jail because of your jealousy. Enclosed are copies of the images I will release to the media, I bet you’re wondering how I was able to get these when you locked me away.
It seems I’m not the only one you thought you could cross and toss away. For your sake, I hope you make the right choice.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Alexander Pettyfer
“They haven’t responded to a single one of your stupid letters, what makes you think they will now?” Suran scoffs at the news that he sent another.
“Just be patient,” he replies, the usually clean cut male looking rugged and rough. “We need something out of this other than just ruining their lives.”
“Look, the images I got are proof enough about what that whore is doing, I say we release them.”
“Not yet!” The rise in his voice gets the guards attention, and he takes a deep breath to calm down. Stupid woman didn’t know when to listen, it was unfortunate that he had to use her, although he should count his blessings the day she came and visited for the first time with an idea to take the CEOs down.
Summary: Choi Y/N was used to being the background character to her older sister's life. Yuri was everything that her parents wanted and Y/N was left by herself. It wasn’t preferred but she managed her life perfectly fine. It wasn’t until Yuri asked “Can you do me a favor?” that her life changed and she became the main character.
Y/N stared at her sister with a confused face. Whatever her sister wanted it was urgent and it was clear with her eyes. Yuri sighed and took her phone out. Y/N watched anxiously and waited for her sister to show her the phone. She glanced at the rectangle and then at her sister, “Can you do me a favor?”
She tilted her head and nodded her head slowly. Yuri smiled nervously and typed another sentence out, “I need you to go on a date for me.”
Y/N’s eyes widened at this and shook her head. Yuri frowned and started begging at her sister, “Please, mom and dad set this date up for me. They just wanted one of Choi's daughters and they just picked me because I'm older.”
Y/N took her phone out, “Who is it with? I’m not saying yes but I am curious...”
“Kim Seokjin.”
05 | pair bond
Jimin throws a party at the office to celebrate the project’s success – too bad you’re stuck with your boss in a shabby motel during a storm because he wanted to buy some stupid local sweets.
# sub!Taehyung, very very gentle dom!reader, hand job, nipple play, some dry-humping, drunk sex, Kim Taehyung Taetae, a lot of sexual tension and a lot of bickering, it high key turns him on tho, forced proximity?, she’s such a girlboss.
Tumblr media
People arguing, phones ringing, shoes clattering on the floor in a hurry, anxious fingers tapping on a computer keyboard.
In short, the office is in chaos.
Han’s next-generation cookware project was launched a week and a half ago, and work has been in full swing ever since. You have not stopped organising reports and scheduling meetings, picking up the phone and jotting down messages, caffeine is pumping through your body aggressively. No one has time to even take a toilet break – and you really should get one.
“No, wait, listen— just tell them it can wait till tomorrow.”
You let out a groan. “To Marketing?”
“I have the board meeting first,” Taehyung mumbles; “they really want to know how the project has gone.”
“Well, if that’s your priority, let me tell you, it’s not going to go well,” you can’t help but say.
Your boss looks up from his hands and stares at you in disbelief; honestly, he should be used to it already. You struggle with keeping your mouth shut, and he struggles with finding people who can actually tell it like it is. To you, that’s a win-win.
“And I can’t delegate that?”
You cross your arms and sit on his desk, making him shift his eyes to the curve of your legs— okay, this is not the time to think about that. Not ever, actually, but if he mixes the sight of your thighs in that raked-up pencil skirt with your nagging tone, the result will be a cocktail of emotions that Taehyung is not willing to make public.
“Well, you can, but should you?” you insist.
Taehyung squints his eyes, confused. “I should… not?”
“Very well!” you then exclaim mockingly, like you’re talking to a dumb puppy, and he revels in it. “All the departments need you now, their communication needs to be better more than ever to know how the new products are going. If you go to the board first, that sends an awful message. ‘Thank you for your time and effort, but I need to tell the old men how much money they’re gonna make this quarter’, basically.”
Great, now he feels guilty. But you’re right, he has a duty to his employees since everyone has been working their asses off for the project to succeed.
“Okay, can we rearrange the meetings as you said?”
“Already on it,” you say without even looking up from your mobile phone.
“And when we get back from Gwangju this Friday,” he continues, “we’ll throw a company party. To celebrate the project’s success.”
Ah, right, the trip to Gwangju; Taehyung has to meet up with some small business owners to close a deal and grow the top line in smaller areas. Of course, with your outstanding talent, you were the one to come up with the idea in an attempt to spend less time together and get rid of this ridiculous infatuation, but you forgot that, as his assistant, you’d be coming with him.
So, in your attempt to stay away from him, you actually got to spend four hours locked in a car, four more on the way back, and all the hours in between stuck too, checking in at the hotel, from meeting to meeting.
Honestly speaking, you have no idea why you feel like this; it’s not like you consciously like him. Maybe it’s just the attention that gets you, or the amusement of having a crush.
The meetings are going well and reassure the staff. Everyone is exhausted, of course, and an important person telling you that you’ve done a good job is probably relieving. By the time the first round of meetings ends, it is lunchtime, so you grab your purse and head to the cafeteria after telling Taehyung.
You eat your lunch in silence, with your phone in your hand but not really looking at it.
In all this time, you haven’t got a single call from your company. Not one message, not one desperate ring because there is an emergency and they know they are resting but please, they need your help.
Now, seeing everyone praising Kim Taehyung and getting so happy with his praise makes you crave the same attention. Everyone wants a piece of him. And here you are, scheduling his meetings and getting his calls while no one wants yours.
You scroll down your message menu; the last text you received was from Seokjin a couple of hours ago, but only to see how you were doing. The usual; rest, don’t you worry about a thing, everything is fine here, the company is running smoothly without you, you’re completely dispensable. We don’t even want you back. We’re better off without you. I hope that your holidays last forever.
“Y/N?”
Your thoughts were too loud, and you didn’t hear the voice calling you.
“Oh— Mr Park, good—” You rush to get up and bow your head, feeling your face red and your chest heavy. “Sorry, I was… thinking. Good afternoon.”
“Mind if I eat with you?” Jimin asks.
He’s already sitting in front of you, but you frown. “You’re not having lunch with President Kim?”
“Not feeling like it today…” he murmurs and stirs his soup.
“Of course.”
The two of you munch in silence for a while, not even pretending to scroll through your phone; you just sit there, silently staring at your food and having a bite from time to time. It seems like both of you have a lot on your mind at this moment.
“We’re not very talkative today, I see. What’s on your mind?”
Jimin’s question takes you by surprise. You babble for a second, first to come back to reality, and then to order your thoughts. But, how dangerous could it be? He should be a mastermind to figure out your real identity by your troubles alone, if he has not already by your looks. And, honestly, you need to let some steam out.
“Don’t you ever feel… that the whole world would be better off without you?”
He chuckles dryly and plays with the heap of rice. “I very much doubt that you really think so, Miss Shin.”
“Hm?”
“What are you worried about?” Jimin insists, watching your puzzled face. “That things will work out without you—? Even better. Being needed is not the same as being wanted.”
“That’s not—” You let out a sigh, and he grins again. “Being needed means that I’m doing things right.”
But Jimin tilts his head. “If it scares you not to be needed, that’s only because you think there’s no reason that they’d ever want you.”
You have the feeling that Jimin thinks you’re talking about this company, and even if your main insecurities are far from that, they can indeed put down roots elsewhere and make you feel like shit. Your job could be done by anyone with two brain cells and a minimal sense of order.
“You’re very serious about your work,” he continues. “Why is that?”
“Can’t a woman be serious about her work?”
Jimin makes a thoughtful face. “Well, most women your age are busy looking for a man.”
“Ah, and I’m not, that’s true,” you respond with a laugh.
Park Jimin is such a mysterious man. Sometimes you’re sure he’s just genuinely a dick, but sometimes you get the feeling that he’s messing with you and it’s all a façade.
“Do you think I should quit this job and get a husband?” you ask, determined to play along.
Jimin smirks. “Well, I don’t think you should have to quit to find one.”
“And how am I going to make the time to meet men?” you inquire then, already finishing your food. You’re not hungry anymore. You want to see where this is going to get you. “I’m not good at blind dates, and I don’t trust my family to arrange anything for me.”
“Oh, yeah, families never care about whom the daughter marries, as long as he has money and a position…” You get the feeling he’s half-convinced, half-doubtful of his own words. “But then again, you can meet handsome, rich men here, can’t you? Just let me know who’s in your interest. What about my brother? Wouldn’t you want to marry him? Wouldn’t that be a match made in heaven?”
You blink, surprised by his shameless proposition, and you feel your face turn red and hot. Have you been so obvious? You tried to control yourself around him. It’s just an infatuation, after all – it’s nothing serious, nothing to lose your head over, nothing important. He’s cute, and you’re bored.
“I don’t think it’d be appropriate.”
“And yet I can think of nothing more fitting.”
Is he messing with you again? He must be. He’s being sarcastic, and a bit cruel, too. A businessman and his little, gold-digging secretary, very funny.
Fuck it, you don’t have the mental strength to put up with this jerk. Let him fire you if he’s got the fucking audacity. “Don’t you have anything more interesting to do than looking for hook-ups for your brother?”
His dumbfounded face is a sight for sore eyes, but it soon turns back into his amused grin.
“How romantic of you, Miss Shin,” Jimin finally responds with an infuriating chirp. “And even if I have to admit that Taehyung needs some help getting dates, I was talking about something deeper, something with feelings. His assets are worth more than a fuck.”
Ah, you get it now. He is not playing with you; he is testing you. How touching, such a strong brotherly bond. Jimin must think that you’re after his brother and is trying to see if you’re willing to put your wishes into action. Alas, he’s wrong – you don’t plan to lay a finger on Kim Taehyung today— or ever. He’s a sweet, playful, kind man, even if he comes off as cold sometimes, but marrying a man like him would be like proving your grandmother right.
“I’m not interested in him—”
“Don’t lie.”
Your heart sinks into your chest, and suddenly you’re short of breath.
“You could say you’re not going to do anything about it, and I’d believe you,” Jimin continues then, “but don’t say you’re not. He’s blind, but I’m not.”
You let out a tired sigh. “I really don’t understand where you are trying to get with this.”
“You’re wasting your time. He’s right there.”
The idea that Jimin can read your thoughts and knows who you are crosses your mind again, but you try to think of something else. It doesn’t make sense. Why is he so insistent? If he wants to protect his brother, he’s tickling the wrong bone.
“Now that we’re friends,” you joke just to avoid crying, “I can confess that talking to you is a guaranteed headache.”
“I’m flattered.”
Looking at him, you can’t help letting out an unbelieving laugh, and the few people left in the cafeteria turned to look at you. Some lean into each other to gossip, and some others just keep staring with curiosity. Regardless of that, you rub your eyes, careful not to smudge your mascara, and sigh again.
“I’ll be off now,” Jimin says, getting up. “Have fun in Gwangju.”
“Are you sure?”
He raises his eyebrows, surprised and amused, and walks off to leave the empty trail and leave.
There must be something up with him. For a half-sibling, they’re pretty close. And you don’t how much older he is than Taehyung, but he either has an amazing skincare routine, or he’s not more than three or four years older than him. You don’t know who his mother is, although it is true that Mr Kim has always kept his life private.
Whatever, it’s not like you care. He came to you looking to tickle you off, and he managed to do it again. It’s not worth it.
God, you’re trembling. With rage, with anxiety, you don’t know – but you’re certainly not unfazed by Park Jimin’s antics. Now you have other things to worry about, like your job, and your lunchtime is over, so you get your tray and leave too.
Just as you’re washing your hands, your phone rings.
“Hello?”
“Uh, where are you? The meeting with Finance is about to start.”
“Oh, crap—” At Taehyung’s words, you hurry to dry your hands and grab your bag. “Sorry, I got held up. I’m on my way!”
You can hear his angelic laugh on the other line. “Don’t worry, I’ll stall them. There’s always a first time for everything… Even you can be late sometimes.”
Even you can be late sometimes.
Is that the image he has of you—? A workaholic neat freak. A person who is never late, who is always watching, always listening. Someone who never lets herself go. How could Park Jimin ever think you are a gold-digger worthy of his concern? When working is all you’ve ever done. Even if no one ever thanks you for it, even if no one appreciates it. You’re always there. But perhaps he’s right, and you’re not needed. And since you’re not needed, you’re not wanted, either.
“During these weeks we have seen a very positive reaction from the public. Sales of other earlier products have also improved, and we have plans to expand overseas sales. Now Mr Min will give us a detailed report.”
Min Yoongi gets up giving himself a shy clap along with the rest of the room and starts his speech by thanking everyone. Taehyung returns to his seat next to you and lets out a quiet puff of air, and you harp him with your elbow, trying to show him an encouraging smile.
“You did great,” you whisper.
“Uh?”
He didn’t hear you.
“I said, you did good,” you repeat, this time a bit louder. “Good job.”
Oh, fuck, he’s blushing. You made him blush. This is not good, abort the mission, this is not good. This is, in fact, very bad. He looks so cute, he’s like a puppy.
You look away before Taehyung’s cuteness gets the best of you and glue your eyes to the PowerPoint.
The meeting unfolds as expected, everyone thanking the hard work and revelling in how well this quarter is going to go. Then there’s a small speech on future projects, deals, and changes, and everybody ends with a round of applause. Now you have to prepare the meeting with Sales, and then with Marketing. Taehyung says goodbye and follows you down the corridor.
You stop by his office’s door. “Okay, give me five minutes and I’ll be ready.”
“Sure, just hand me the reports.”
“What reports?” you ask.
Taehyung blinks. “Uh, sorry… I thought you’d have them under control?” he says, and you think he’s somehow afraid of your reaction. “I apologise if it—”
“It’s okay,” you reply with a sigh and start looking for them.
But Taehyung insists, “No, you’re right, I always put too much pressure—”
“I said it’s okay.”
His hand, already moving to touch your shoulder, halts at once and retracts. Certainly, he got it all wrong; he’s not close enough to you to try and reassure you. He’s your boss, and you’re his secretary, his employee. Nothing else.
“That was my job to do,” he insists, but suddenly he’s cold and solemn. “I apologise.”
Why are you angry at him? You don’t understand. He’s been nothing but kind and hardworking despite your initial idea of him.
“You look a bit tired; you’d better stay here. I can go to the meeting on my own.”
And his words pierce your brain like a bullet.
He doesn’t need you either. What’s more, he’s probably been waiting for weeks for a chance to get rid of you. If you don’t do your job well, what need is there for you to accompany him? He doesn’t need you. Nobody does.
“Don’t you want me there?”
“Of course I do.”
You miss the way Taehyung regrets saying that so hastily because it makes a flower bloom in your chest. The noisy shadows in your head clear away, and you watch him kneel in front of you while you stay seated on his boss’s chair. Taehyung looks away in search of encouragement and unconsciously puts his hand on your knee.
“Of course I want you to come with me,” he continues. His hand hasn’t moved away. “But I think I’ve been leaning on you too much. I made you work too hard. And— I know you can handle it and all, but I, uh… What I want most of all is for you to be well.”
You’d kiss him right here. You’d grab him by his fancy white collar and push him against his desk, and you’d kiss him and fuck him right here. Until his lips would bruise, until he came with a grunted whimper, like those he let out when he moved the heavy bookshelf in his office so that you could drag your chair next to his. You’d pull at his hair until he begged for more, and you would ride his cock until you were coming all over him.
Those fingers should be creeping up into your legs. You’d tell him how to do it, and you’d reward him for making you cum.
“Y/N-ssi?”
You just find him cute, your ass.
Taehyung sees you staring down at his hand on your knee, and embarrassment washes over him as he pulls it away with an apology. You must think he’s a creep now. Oh, he’s always messing up when he’s with you. But maybe…
“Just… stay here, okay?” he says, mustering the courage to continue, “I can manage on my own, I’m a good boy.”
Your heart skips a beat, and you’re melting inside— “I know you are.”
He gets up, and you watch him leave, still breathless. Perhaps you’re actually overworking yourself, even though you never thought you could reach that level. Good heavens, you’re a mess. Did you just think about fucking Kim Taehyung? You never had found him hot; you weren’t supposed to find him hot.
The rest of the day passes excruciatingly slowly.
At last, you are back in your quiet, dark flat. You kick off your heels and collapse onto your bed when the horrible memory that you have a company trip first thing tomorrow morning dawns on you.
Honestly, you’ve always liked business trips; you explore new places, but not too idly. You meet people and work, and you always stay in a nice hotel from which you never leave until it’s time to check out. Who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy this one too, even if you’re not going to do anything besides organising Kim Taehyung’s schedule. Perhaps this time you will have the time to enjoy a nice coffee in a quiet, pretty spot.
“I want to die.”
Careful not to smudge your makeup, you sink your head into the pillow with a heavy sigh. You should have a shower and get ready to get to bed.
Before you even look at it, your phone is in your hands, searching for a contact. You need to hear the voice of a friend. You need, in a way, to remember who you are again; O Y/N, an important and capable person. Someone they can rely on.
“Hey, I was just about to go to bed. How’s everything going?”
Seokjin tells someone off and returns to you. “Hey, how are you? We just finished… something.”
“I miss you. It feels a bit lonely here.”
Silence. The ruckus from the office comes to you through the line, but your friend is quiet. You wonder what he’s thinking about right now. Maybe he’s too busy to talk. Your heart pounds against your ribcage.
“Are you busy?”
“We’re all working hard,” he says, “you know, to cover for you. Don’t worry about a thing.”
“Cover for me?”
The day of the accident, which your grandmother remembers as the day she almost lost her granddaughter after losing her son and daughter-in-law, your heart was beating like this too. Your body was tense like this, and you were sweating just as much. Breathless whimpers, a piercing urge to cry even though you could shed no tears. In a second, your vision went blurry. For an instant, your brain went black, and your arms swung the steering wheel to the side of the road. You don't know why you did that; it was an instinct. You wanted to crash.
You have never told anyone about this, nor do you plan to. It was stupid, and you were out of your mind. For everyone else, you didn't sleep much that day, and your eyes closed for a second.
You are still wondering what caused the mental fog.
I can’t forgive them. If I do, I’ll miss them.
“Yeah, cover for you.” You hear Seokjin chuckling from the other side. “I have to admit it, you’re made of tough stuff! I don’t know how you put up with this. I want to kill HR, and the board, ugh they’re so—”
“Thank you,” you murmur, staring at the ceiling.
“Uh?”
More silence.
“Y/N, are you really okay?”
You let out a shaky breath. “I thought you wouldn’t want me back, you know, since you haven’t called,” you confess then as you play with your nails. “Ha, how stupid is that? Sorry, I just… I’m just feeling a bit sad, I’m tired.” From being on vacation? Sure. “I’m glad to know I’ve got such a capable team by my side.”
“Jesus, that was— thank you. We’re doing our best.”
“How’s Grandmother?” you suddenly ask. “Have you seen her lately?”
“Busy with plots and intrigues, as usual. But she’ll be glad that you asked,” he responds with a loud cackle.
“Do you know” – you change the subject, and he doesn’t feign surprise – “that I’m crushing on someone? It’s just a silly crush, but—”
“Oh, God! Your frozen heart melted!”
“Very funny.”
Seokjin clears his throat, and you hear him shuffling and sitting down far from the ruckus. “No, really, I’m happy for you. Who’s the lucky guy? Are you serious about it, gonna bring him to the big city so we can meet him?”
“I… probably won’t,” you murmur. “He’s cute and all, but… I’ll have to go at some point.”
“Ah, yeah. Then, enjoy it while it lasts. No regrets.”
His words make you frown, throwing you into a spiral of thoughts and pondering. Yes, he’s right; no regrets. You can always pretend to be crazy and fake a reasonable physical resemblance if you ever meet again in society. At the same time, you’ll get this bugging craving out of your head. Just a kiss, perhaps, since you only have a couple of weeks left in the company. Just a couple of weeks left to spend with him.
“Hm, I might do that.”
Seokjin tries to respond, but someone starts yelling in the background. You figure they’re in a meeting, so you thank him and say goodbye.
With the phone in your hand, you set the alarms for tomorrow’s trip and go to bed.
You wake up in a chaotic haze of a ringing headache, the aggressive buzzing of your phone, and a dry throat. With a frown, you reach your arm to grab your mobile phone and check, realising that Taehyung is calling, as he has been doing for the last thirty minutes, judging by his four missed calls. You stare at your phone in silence until it stops ringing, and then you snap out.
“Oh, fuck—”
There won’t be any trouble if you’re able to get dressed, brush your teeth, do your make-up, and get to the office in twenty minutes. Come on, you can do that and more. Three minutes for getting changed, another four to brush your teeth and wash your face, and seven minutes to do your make-up. You’re leaving your flat when your phone rings again; it’s Taehyung, and you have to pick up this time.
“I’m— I’m sorry, I fell asleep,” you pant.
“Uh, really?”
You stop at the door and frown at no one. “Yeah…?”
“Sorry,” he says then. He sounds flustered. “Sorry, hm, that’s just so… not like you. I thought something happened.”
“Uh.”
“So, you’re okay?”
“Yep.”
“Okay, I’ll see you in the office, then? Don’t go in a hurry with the car, drive carefully…” You’re catching your breath on the lift ride until the doors open and you walk out into the car park. “It’s a one-day trip, so you don’t need to bring anything with you. We’ll be back for the party.”
Fifteen minutes and a crazy race against a bus later, you rush out of the lift and go to his office only to find it empty. With a groan, you almost feel tempted to simply flake out on the floor and cry, but a voice distracts you:
“Mr Kim is already in the car park, Y/N,” says the woman as she stares down at you. “He said he’d wait for you there.”
“I… didn’t see him.”
Your phone buzzes.
Kim Taehyung, one (1) missed call.
“Oh, really?” you groan at the air again, already calling him back. “Thanks— Mr Kim! I’m up at your office, yes— I’m on my way, sorry about— o-okay, yeah, drove safely…”
Rushing out of the lift and down the last pair of stairs, you put your phone back in your purse and finally spot Taehyung waiting for you. He’s casually leaning on his car with his arms crossed, checking his phone until he hears your wheezing pants and looks up. Then he smiles, his eyes light up and, damn it, why does he have to smile like that?
“God, I’m so sorry about all this!” you say.
But he just chuckles, perhaps amused by the mess you are. “Don’t be, I should’ve just texted you.”
Again, Taehyung laughs softly as the two of you get in the car; he opens the door for you, like a proper gentleman, and the fluttering feeling in the pit of your stomach returns. Oh, in some way, you hope you’re giving him the same feelings.
The ride is silent at first; Taehyung is making sure you’re going in the right direction while you look for the most comfortable way to recline the back of your seat.
You’ve packed water bottles, snacks, and a blanket, and now you’re getting on with the music.
“You can sleep if you want,” he suddenly says; “you must be tired from yesterday if you woke up late…”
You’re not entirely sure if he’s messing with you because in your head he clearly is, but then again, why would he? That’s not much like Taehyung.
Whatever. Four hours and two naps later, you arrive at Gwangju; why didn’t you go by train, like any other normal person would’ve done? Good question. Unfortunately, your boss had to love driving and, in his own words, ‘I haven’t had a good car trip in a long time. It’ll be fun!’ So, here you are, staring at the door of a restaurant’s bathroom well past your usual eating time while he has lunch with a bunch of small business owners. He handed you his personal card to – his words – ‘eat at a nice place and relax.’ As if you needed to? Is he implying anything?
You finish peeing and wash your hands.
The afternoon passes quietly; you had a late lunch at the cutest café you could find, went window-shopping, and had a walk around a park.
By the time it gets dark, you leisurely sipping a coffee on a park bench.
Your phone buzzes. “Yes?”
“Sorry, the meeting just finished.” It’s Taehyung. “They wanted to go for a drink, but I told them I had to be back in Seoul for an event.”
“Yes, Mr Park said he’d take care of the preparations for the launch party,” you murmur in response.
He goes silent for a second.
“Where are you? I’ll pick you up.”
After telling him, you hang up and sigh; why can’t you figure out why he does the things he does? Everyone else is so easy to make out. But not Kim Taehyung, no, he’s a mystery. Does he like you? Does he not? Is he at least attracted to you? What for—? If you’ve resolved not to like him.
True to his word, Taehyung shows up at the entrance of the park to pick you up.
“Here, take it back.” You hand his black card back to him as you get into the car and sit next to him. “Don’t worry, I didn’t buy anything crazy,” you say with a chuckle at the sight of his puzzled face.
He snaps out of his confusion. “Oh, I just— I forgot you had it. Thanks.”
The conversation goes no further, and the ride back home begins. To break the silence, you turn on the radio. The presenter’s voice announces that rain and strong winds are expected in the late evening. However, you don’t pay much attention, too busy being overwhelmed by how little you want to attend the impending launch party.
“A penny for your thoughts?” you suddenly ask; he looked so engrossed in his thoughts, you’ve grown curious.
Taehyung glances at you, almost like a child hesitating to ask for a treat. “I was wondering… There’s a place that sells these famous handmade sweets. It’s a bit of a detour, but I don’t want to turn up to the party empty-handed…”
He doesn’t even dare to finish his request – or rather to finish his plea, judging by his cute-ish tone— damn it. Well, he doesn’t dare to finish talking, but you can tell he really wants those sweets. The party is a poorly thought excuse. But his eyes are sparkling, and his lips are pursed in a pout.
“Do you want to buy some?” you decide to ask.
“Really?” Taehyung blurts out, eyes open. “You don’t mind?”
“Well, I don’t think taking an hour or two longer will make much of a difference…”
Tumblr media
“Please, don’t be—”
“If you ask me not to get mad one more time, I swear, Taehyung, I’m gonna— turn!”
Taehyung turns the wheel in time, and you manage to avoid crashing into the guardrail. Once the car is stable again, you let go of the grab handle with your heart still pounding.
“I’m sorry!” he cries out. “I can’t see and it’s getting on my nerves!”
“You are getting on my nerves!”
But it’s true; with rain pattering against the windscreen and droplets dripping under the glass in the dark of night in the background, headlights can only do so much. You’re risking a car accident with every second you spend on the road, and the mere thought makes you shiver.
If only you hadn’t gone out of your way to buy those stupid sweets, the storm wouldn’t have caught you before you reached Seoul. But you did, so now you just have to take on the consequences.
“Taehyung, this is pointless. We have to pull over,” you groan.
Finally, he drives the car to the side of the road. The rain taps noisily against the windscreen, and for a long moment that’s all you can hear.
“The storm could take hours to calm down,” Taehyung murmurs as he lets go of the wheel. “Isnt there any place where we can pass the time? Like a restaurant, or a café…”
You take out your phone, which barely has any signal, and scroll through Naver maps in search of anything similar. “Nothing, just a sleazy motel. You know, the kind of spot teenagers go to lose their virginities.”
His silence is loud.
“What do you think? Should we give it a go?” you insist.
“I guess it’s either that or rot in the car.”
Fortunately – though unsurprisingly – they have rooms available. After pulling up in the car park, you check in, and Taehyung pays for the room while you take a look around the small entrance hall; it’s discreet and dark, so you doubt that even the receptionist can take a good look at your faces. It’s understandable, considering that it’s a motel completely isolated from society.
When the young man asks for your ID, you freeze.
“I’m the only one staying; she’s coming upstairs with me for a moment.”
“I’ll have to charge you extra if you don’t want it to appear that you’re staying with someone," says the receptionist with no emotion in his voice. “But she won’t show up anywhere. It’s to cover extra expenses.”
Taehyung agrees right away – the difference isn’t much after all, and he doesn't have the energy to argue with a burnout worker.
“Thanks,” he murmurs, taking the code from his hand.
“Thank you, enjoy your stay.”
As you make your way to the lift, you let out a giggle. “I think that boy thought we are lovers.”
“Uh, yeah, I wonder why…”
Actually, you find out as soon as you walk into the room; the walls and bed sheets are a tacky red, and so are the dim lights. There’s a welcome pack but, instead of maps and amenities, it’s filled with condoms, lubricants, toys, jars of cream and chocolate, and a pair of handcuffs. The smell of heavy perfume hits you, and so does the realisation that this is not a wacky motel but a common love hotel.
“We can always leave—”
“Come on, it’s only until the storm stops,” you say, trying to ignore the lump in your throat and the heat up your cheeks.
You won’t lie, though – you’ve always died to stay at a love hotel. The shabby kind. It’s kinkier.
“Don’t you feel hot in that suit?” you ask. You’ve noticed Taehyung adjusting the neck of his shirt a few times already. “Since it’s so damp and warm.”
“I have nothing to change into. I didn’t pack.”
You let out a sigh. “Of course, it was supposed to be a one-day trip…”
As the minutes pass, you make yourselves comfortable; shoes and jackets off, you both look for something to spend the time with. You put your phone to charge while you idly browse through the channels on TV. When you find an interesting show, you lie down on the bed next to him.
“The party must’ve started already,” you hear him murmur.
“I guess. We would’ve got home by…”
You shut up, not wishing to upset him; you know he’s very aware of the fact that this is all his fault, in a way. Were it not for those silly sweets…
“I’m sorry,” Taehyung says then.
Without thinking, you put a hand on his upper thigh and stroke up and down to comfort him and make him understand that you are not really upset with him. However, your touch is not comforting to him; perhaps quite the opposite, judging by the way he stiffens immediately. However, you don’t notice.
“I know you are.”
Not even television can make the time pass any faster, and the storm doesn’t seem to be abating any time soon. By the time you start to get impatient, it’s eleven o’clock at night and neither of you feels remotely sleepy.
“I’m afraid I’ll have to drink myself to sleep,” you suddenly say, getting up to make your way to the minibar. “Otherwise, this night will never pass.”
Taehyung sits up on the bed. “I don’t think—”
“Don’t worry, I’ll pay for it.”
“That’s not what I… Uh, just pass me whatever there is, please.”
With a grin, you grab a bottle of wine and two glasses and walk back to the bed. You don’t notice the way his eyes light up or the way he stares at you. As if he was expectant, and as if his imagination was giving him a hard time. But he watches how you walk back to the bed, to him, with the bottle in your hand and that dashing smile, and he so feels weak in the knees that he’s glad he’s sat. For a second, you two are lovers, not strangers.
The alcohol – because after the wine came the whisky, and then a few beers – takes its toll on you; not too into the early morning, you are drunk and laughing at an absurd show about people dodging obstacles and falling into the water.
Taehyung has got rid of his suit jacket and tie; the collar of his shirt is open almost halfway to let air in, allowing you to enjoy the view of his collarbone and bronze chest. His sleeves are rolled up, relieving his arms from the humid heat of the room. For your part, you haven’t stopped to think that shedding most of your clothes has caused a similar effect on him.
You notice him staring when you turn around.
“What?”
“Nothing,” Taehyung says with a boyish giggle. “I just… I would never have guessed the kind of person who gets drunk on beer and watches game shows.”
You let out a sigh, suddenly put off by his words, and he instantly regrets ever opening his mouth.
“I—”
“You think I’m a stuck-up too, don’t you?” you ask.
Before Taehyung has the time to react, you’re sitting up and turning to face him. It’s a mixture of frustration and pride that you’re feeling, and it’s heating up your already warm cheeks. You’re not hearing another person saying those words, especially not Kim Taehyung.
“Y/N is a control freak, Y/N is never late, Y/N always has it all done like a good girl… That’s what you think, huh?” Shit, you’re too close, he can feel your hot breath against his face. Your arms are caging him against the mattress and, he’s certain, you haven’t realised that you’re practically straddling him. “Well, maybe I’m sick of being good.”
Taehyung tries to help you keep your balance and perhaps steady himself, but unfortunately, his hands end up on your bare bottom, as your position has caused your skirt to hike up.
“Fuck, sorry—”
His hands move away in a jiffy.
This can’t be happening, not like this, not with his secretary. But it’s you, after all. It’s the woman who has been plaguing all and each of his thoughts, who fills his brain from the moment he wakes up to the minute he goes to bed, and beyond.
Do you feel the way does? – like you’ve fallen ill with feverish want.
“Taehyung,” you call his name, and it sounds soft and sweet.
“Y/N, I…” he tries to say but gets caught up staring down at your lips, so close to him. “I don’t think… you’re a stuck-up.”
“Why not?” you ask, leaning into him. “Everybody does.”
He lets out a shaky breath. “I-I just don’t. That’d really be the last thing I think of when I see you.”
“Oh?” You chuckle, getting too turned on for your own good, still on top of him, and the sound sends a shiver down his spine. “So, what do you think of when you see me?”
“Couldn’t say it out loud.”
That’s it, he’s crossed the line. Why did he say such a thing?
You can’t help but rush up to kiss him hard. The wet contact as you quickly get over the initial shyness and start rolling your tongues over each other only shoves you deep into a red mental state. Your hands grip the collar of his shirt, popping a few buttons, but neither of you notices.
Taehyung reciprocates the kiss while blowing his common sense and principles to hell. You’re nothing but Y/N. That’s all he cares about right now. To hell with literally everything if that means he can finally allow himself to enjoy your warmth or the nonchalant weight of your gaze on him or the shivers of your lips brushing together.
You fit perfectly sitting on his lap.
Catching him off guard, your lips move down to his neck to leave a trail of wet kisses behind, and Taehyung lets out a whimper.
Although he closes his mouth immediately, feeling too embarrassed, you can’t help rubbing your thighs together; you hope you’ll get to hear more of those if the night goes on well, and if you do, you’ll end up soaked down there, that’s for sure.
“Don’t shut them up,” you whisper in his ear. “I wanna hear you.”
Honesty is the best policy, or so you’ve heard.
Your request makes him gasp and buck his hips into you. The growing tent in his crotch is a pleasant surprise.
Taehyung swirls his tongue around yours while his hands grope from your upper back down to your ass, now totally careless. He hikes up your skirt until it looks like a wrinkled belt around your hips and begs you with puppy eyes to take care of him as well. So, you undo his belt buckle, and he’s quick to raise his hips off the mattress and pull down his pants enough, but the mere feeling of his hard-on against your clothed core makes you shove your hips together.
“Shit, Taehyung—” You gasp for air. “Take this off too.”
Without even waiting for him to do it, you undo the few buttons that survived your earlier attack and reveal his chiselled chest. Your hands move to revel in the firm warmth of his flesh, but then you move away to unhook your bra.
But you get mixed up with the straps and the sleeves of your blouse, so you give up and just ruck it up, revealing the sight of your breasts bouncing back into place.
Of course, Taehyung has never seen anything more tempting.
It’s always thrilling and scary to get naked in front of someone for the first time, but this time it feels especially weird, and you’re especially hungry for his reaction; Taehyung delivers, though, by pressing his lips against the skin between your breasts with a gaze lost in thought and hugging you hard against him.
The moment you go for his underwear, though, he stops you.
“I…” Taehyung looks away, losing the courage to speak up. You’re still staring at him as you catch your breath. “Just, uh—”
“You can tell me.”
He looks up at you. “Be gentle, please.”
That does the trick for you, and it does it immediately; between passionate kisses, you assure him that you’ll be ever so gentle as you slowly push him down on the bed and shove your hand down his underwear.
“S-shit—”
Dipping your tongue into his collarbones, your thumb strokes his head only to find it leaking. His cock feels hot and heavy against your palm, but it only pumps you up with the prospect of having it fuck you open. So, you stroke up and down, using his precum to ease the friction, while Taehyung’s breath hitches and his fingers sink onto the flesh beneath your buttocks. It makes you spread your legs on his lap and move to kiss him on the lips.
“Fuck, Taehyung—” you grunt, and he can’t believe his name can weigh so much in his mind coming from you. “Why a-are you so handsome?” you whine then. “It’s so unfair.”
His heart does a flip. “Could ask you the same—”
“So handsome and sweet and cute,” you whisper before kissing him again, splaying your free hand across his chest.
His cock feels about to burst, and he’s too turned on to pretend he’s not dying for you to pamper him more. So, he bucks his hips up and starts fucking your hand, painting against your mouth like a dog.
“Don’t get too ahead of yourself,” you whisper between kisses as you cup his face with both hands. “Be a good boy and take your pretty cock out first.”
With a whimper, Taehyung grabs your forearms for balance. Those two words stick with him as he fumbles with his underwear while you shove your ruined panties to the side. His heart is beating like crazy, but he wants to be a good boy for you; he’s a good boy, truly.
“Oh, Tae,” you moan.
You’re saying and calling him things that are too dangerous for his sanity.
But then you align his tip with your slit and sink down onto him, shutting off any kind of thought. A strike of pleasure rips your bodies as it works you open and puts them back together as soon as you start bouncing on his cock, feeling it massage your inner walls and hit that sweet spot. You’re dripping wet, he can feel it as he watches his cock disappearing into you, unable to utter a word besides heavy breaths and whimpers.
“Fuck,” you let out again, closing your eyes and working thigh muscles, “you feel s-so good, Tae, so fucking good—”
Taehyung writhes beneath you, not entirely sure about what to touch or where to kiss, and not exactly rational enough to stop and think about it.
Suddenly, you feel his hands cupping your breasts, thumbs brushing and playing with your hard nipples before the wet heat of his mouth engulfs one of them. You let out a groan as Taehyung sucks on your nipple and pinches the other, making you ride him faster. His whimpers are muffled against your skin.
“That’s it, baby, suck on my tits,” you moan, raking your nails through his hair, “good b-boy.”
Sounds of smacking flesh echo through the room while your ass strikes his hips again and again, squelching noises from the way his cock fucks into you. Your body is exhausted, but you’re in a frenzy, caught in a merciless tempo as you chase pleasure.
The ache between your legs only grows, and Taehyung’s lips move around your nipple, sucking, nibbling, letting a dribble of spit trickle down his chin.
“Oh fuck,” he suddenly cries out. “D-don’t stop, please—”
You let out a chuckle. “Wasn’t planning to— shit, Tae, you like my tits that much?”
“I’ve pictured this moment many times,” Taehyung says, leaving a trail of kisses up to your neck.
The mere idea that he’s noticed your breasts, let alone fantasise about them sends shivers down your spine and makes your face grow hot. How sly. Guess all those times you subconsciously picked the most revealing blouses and the best-fitting shirts have paid off; his hands really can’t decide what part of your body to grope.
“You’re so hot, shit,” he whimpers.
This time you cup your cheeks and slow down, riding him softly, drawn to his eyes; you’re staring into his pretty, dark eyes, and suddenly time feels slowed down as well. If it weren’t for the way your heart is pounding in your chest, you’d think you’ve frozen.
But the warmth of his palms on your back as he helps you up and down his cock grounds you.
You want to make him come hard inside of you. You can’t bring yourself to care about anything else right now that’s not his or your pleasure, his touch, his soft gaze, his pretty sounds.
Taehyung ducks his head in shame. “I-I’m close, I’m sorry—”
“It’s okay,” you cut him off with a whisper and kiss his cheek. “Let go for me, baby, come for me.”
Heat spreads under his skin, and soon he’s holding back his moans, rutting into you without any self-restraint. His golden skin is flushed and covered by a thin sheen of sweat, chest rising and falling. But it’s too much, and Taehyung starts letting out breathy moans until he goes still, and his gut tightens. He dissolves into pleasure, emptying himself inside of you with a choked sob and his arms wrapped tight around you.
You help him ride out his high before raising your hips. His cock slides off along with a trickle of his release, and you feel it go soft between your cheeks.
“I’m not done yet,” you murmur.
Then you start riding his pubic bone, amused by the way his spent cock twitches at the passive friction. But you’re too turned on, and your clit is too swollen and sensitive to bring you to care, and soon you’re coming around nothing.
“I’m sorry,” he whimpers. “Fuck, I’m— I don’t know what happened, usually I…”
You cut him off with a long, deep kiss that pushes him back to the bed. At some point – you don’t remember – and tangled in each other’s arms, you fall asleep.
“Please tell us something about yourself.”
You sat on a wooden stool chair in a middle of a plain white background. The bright studio lights both stood on each side of the camera, which made you a little blinded at first. But you got used to it since you arrive at this studio almost fifteen minutes ago. Your supposed interviewer, Nayeon, is a friend of a mutual friend who invited you to this project. She seemed like a really organized and creative woman. Earlier, when you arrived, she explained to you about their channel. She concluded that their production group has this YouTube channel where they posted videos about stories or opinions of many people. You found it strange at first but decided to join in since you have free time to spare. For now, only three staffs are in the room. The editor, the interviewer, and the cameraman.
“I am Y/N, currently in my early 30s.” you softly smiled after introducing yourself shortly.
Being the center of attention or staying in front of a camera is something you do not usually do. In fact, you usually avoided any kind of these situations ever since you were young and you don’t really have many photos in your apartment now. The one scrapbook you keep is filled with pictures of places you went to, family, and friends you were close to. Especially those you met in college.
“So you were invited here by our editor, Nina, who is your friend. Right?” Nayeon asked and you nodded in answer. “And she told us that you are commonly shy around cameras, what made you agree to come to join us for today?”
You giggled, “I kind of want to try something new.”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah, my life’s been pretty boring from childhood to graduate school.” you joked and you spotted Nina chuckling in the background.
You met Nina back in your sophomore year in college and she is well aware of how you prioritized your studies a lot before. She is the ex-girlfriend of one of your close friends from your first two years in college. You two managed to still communicate every now and then even after they broke off their short-lived romantic relationship.
“Oh, let’s see about that.” Nayeon smiled before looking down at her notebook with a black pen in her right hand. “I am going to ask a question and maybe you can tell us a story answering it. Will it be fine?”
“Okay,” you replied before a thought popped in. “Wait, how many questions? Nina told me that there going to be twenty of them, which made me a little freaked out.”
Nayeon laughed, “It’s only one main question! Then, some additional ones along the way just to clarify things.”
You rolled your eyes playfully at Nina, who is covering her mouth to stop herself from laughing out loud, “You liar.”
After a few more laughs and shared banter with Nina, which Nayeon joined in, the interview continued. The camera guy, Eunwoo, who you also met earlier was grinning hearing how you and your friend tease each other.
“What’s the main question again?” you asked before any banter start again.
“What is the scariest thing you have ever done?”
You crossed your leg over the other as you think of an answer. Looking back on three decades of your life, you only thought of three things.
“Oh, I have three answers. Probably cutting class one time in high school, opening my social media accounts, and…”
“Wait, opening a social media account?” Nayeon repeated, squinting. “How?”
“Well…” you clasped your hands. “I personally think that it’s a messy and toxic place. Many people can say something to someone just by their posts. They can already judge you a lot. So I am not really active on my socials, I only use them when needed. And I am a really private person, I don’t post a lot unless it’s necessary.”
Nayeon nodded at your explanation, “Okay, I get it. How about your third answer? What is it?”
“Oh, uhm…” you paused as you pursed your lips, having second thoughts if you should answer it. Whatever. You exhaled, “This is really cliché. But it’s when I confessed to a very close friend.”
“Can you tell us more about it?”
“Uhm, yeah. Sure.” you forced a smile. “I have been friends with this guy ever since elementary. He was a really good kid and a social butterfly! I, who was a very shy kid, somehow got to befriend him, who is a very extroverted boy. I remembered those times he would pull me into their playground games every single time. He always made sure I am never left out. That’s how we became close over many years. High school came, and he became really into sports and famous. Like, you know, those overused teen movies characters.”
You see Nayeon chuckled and you continued, “Nonetheless, we remained best of friends at those times. He still hasn’t changed. Me too. Gladly, unlike those nerdy movie characters, I was never bullied by the mean girls for being close with the popular guy.”
You raised your hands to put air quotes on certain words, emphasizing them with sarcasm in your tone.
“He was always invited to these parties and he would ask me to come with him. Then, I would remind him about the school activities we need to do. We were often partners in school projects. I think we balance each other back then. He would be the one focused on having fun while I would concentrate on our academics. It was kinda weird how we remained friends in high school since I know others grew apart.”
Stories of teens growing apart in high school were things you always read or hear from some of your patients as a psychiatrist. Somehow, you felt lucky that you and Taehyung managed to keep your friendship past high school.
“No matter how much I hate loud events, I always made sure to watch him play in his basketball games. Knowing that his scary dad does not really support him in that aspect, I hoped that having my presence there gave him the motivation to continue with his hobby. The first and only time I cut a class in high school was the time their team had a game at another school. I remember sneaking out with a friend and I was so terrified while my friend assured me that it was going to be fine since she was already used to cutting classes. Then fast forward, forty minutes later, we arrived at the other school’s gymnasium. We found an empty spot near their bench so he easily spots us in the middle of that game. He looked surprised but grinned widely that time and I remember my heart skipped a bit. It felt like cutting class was really worth it.” you laughed.
“Did he do that common mischievous wink before shooting the ball in the hoops?” Nayeon asked with a teasing tone.
You laughed again, shaking your head, “Fortunately, no. I would really find it corny if he did that. And I think we were both not a fan of public displays of affection. We prefer doing things in our own little worlds. Nonetheless, I never knew how he really show affection since we both didn’t date anyone back in high school or college, that I know of!”
Nayeon’s eyebrows raised when she heard your statement, “You never dated anyone in those years?”
“No.” you shake your head again. “Me, personally, do not really have plans in dating back in high school. Even though that was where my feelings began for my friend. In college, I set my eyes on doing my best in my course as I want to keep my scholarship. For my best friend, I don’t know if he dated anyone back in college since we lost it.”
“You lost it?” Nayeon pushed her glasses up as she repeated your words.
“Yeah, we kind of drifted apart during the first two years of college. We went to different universities, which includes me moving miles away since I got accepted to this really great school. Maybe this is where the growing apart phase happened. I met new friends, including Nina,” you smiled at your longtime friend. “And really improved my social life then. As I said, I rarely use social media so I do not really have any updates from my best friend. It was two years of just texting each other on phone occasionally. It’s really just a bunch of greetings to one another.”
“Then, what happened?”
You smiled as you can hear the mix of curiosity and excitement in her tone, “Then, junior year happened. Things were getting really pricey. An old roommate of mine moved out and that worsen my expenses for a couple of months. So I was about to look for a roommate on Craiglist– it was what my friends recommended– when I got a call from an old friend. The one I cut classes with before. She studies at the same university and told me that she saw my best friend around the campus. He even chatted with her a bit and shared that he is transferring.”
You remembered how surprised, worried, and a bit angry you were when you heard that from a mutual friend. You took some hours alone before calling Taehyung about it, wondering why he hasn’t told you about his transfer plans. Was he mad at you? Did something happen? Are we still friends?. The questions that all popped into your head were later asked when you called him. You remembered how he defensively denied that he have any negative emotions towards you, claiming that he was just ashamed of the unfortunate path he was walking on.
“So, I called him. I think I was too aggressive that time, throwing questions at him.” you laughed. “But I was really worried about what could possibly happen to him. Then, he shared that he was looking for an apartment near the campus and I immediately asked him to meet. After a quick catch-up, I offered my apartment because I trust that man with my life. So I don’t need any more talking just to get to know him!”
You emphasized how you trust Taehyung with the emotions and tone of your voice. You see Nina smiled. Although you’ve been friends since college, she, herself, never met your best friend. She moved to another country at the same time Taehyung moved in to be your roommate. Up until now, she probably doesn’t know who you were talking about.
“So, what happened?”
“He moved in later. I got to teach him things again just like back in middle school except it’s all about basic living needs. That guy doesn’t even know how to budget his allowance. In his first week, he bought a lot of unnecessary things and junk food with his dad’s money. And it only took him three days to finish it all! Ah, it was really unhealthy.” you shook your head while the image of Taehyung having his fourth donut of that day played inside your mind. “Gladly, he later learned how to cook, which I know helped us both a lot since I know I won’t be doing all the cooking alone and he will learn.”
“Wait, with all of these happening, do you still have the same feelings you had for him back in your high school years?” Nayeon wondered.
Your lips pursed as you think quietly, organizing your thoughts before speaking out.
“The thing is… it was never gone. The feelings are just always there… or here,” you told her as your hand unconsciously landed on your chest while you explained. “Back in high school, I can say that all I felt for him was possibly a tiny, tiny spark of crush. Then we drifted apart for two years and all the feels lie low, I guess. But I knew, it was still there. Because in every important event, I was like a little kid excitedly waiting for his messages.” you giggled at that memory.
“And when we got more time together in our last years in college, I could say that it grew into more than just a crush. Unfortunately.” you grimaced sarcastically. “He’s not hard to like… or even love.”
This time, you looked down as a soft, bitter smile stays on your lips. Your eyes remained on your shoes as you continue to talk, “He is a nice guy even though he said he messed up a lot in his first years in college. He always told me how he wants to be a better person than his dad and I think he is doing well now. He always thinks of himself as a jerk or something bad. But, he’s not... He is always willing to learn and good at accepting change. He is so much friendly with everyone that my college friends became his friends too after just a day of hanging out.”
Your friends first guessed that you two were dating before they visited your apartment and met Taehyung. It took them two months to move on and be convinced that you and your Taehyung are nothing but roommates and best of friends. But it never dies down, since there were times they tried setting you two with different people and without even talking to each other about it, both of you declined. There was a time that they suspected you of keeping your relationship a secret but you and Taehyung just laughed it off, calling it silly.
“So yeah, to make it short, the feelings I had grew. Especially when he began doing things that fed my adoration for him to grow more.”
Nayeon leaned in a bit, still out of the camera shot, “Things? What things?”
“Okay, first was he left these sweet mini chocolates that I really love in my stuff. He would place them near my textbooks on our dining table or even on my study desk. We never talked about it but I knew it was him. One time, he slipped one into my laptop bag. But it was later colonized by these annoying ants and I ranted about it during dinner for hours and it never happened again. I appreciate it nonetheless.” you chuckled. “The second was when he watched movies with me during my down days. There were times I am tired and would just wrap myself in a blanket for the whole day. And then there was this time, months after he moved in, he sat beside me to watch this really funny movie with me. Later on, we ended up cuddling. It ended up being a weekly event until our senior year. There were times we ended up sleeping like that. Just quiet and peaceful. And I swear, it warms my heart every time I think about it.”
“Until now?” Nayeon asked with a little hope and teasing in her voice.
You nodded, “Until now. The last one that I really kept with me is when he gifted me something handmade. I really loved it since I love handmade stuff! That was the most memorable thing I received ever. It was so awesome and beautiful. I think even ended up taking it on the bed with me at some point.”
“So, when or how did you confess?”
“Oh, it was sometime before we part ways after our college graduation.” you smiled as you remembered it like it just happened recently. But in fact, it all happened almost a decade ago. “I actually didn’t plan it, which is very not me. We were just talking alone, looking back to our years. Maybe because of the ambiance during that moment– I don’t know. But I just thought, fuck it! Just say it. So, I gathered courage through alcohol. And just said it right there.”
“And… how was it?” Nayeon asked.
Her tone was in the middle of the curiosity and care scale. A little awkward. She was careful as she don’t want to assume how your confession turned out. Even though, she hoped it headed to a good aftermath. But you inhaled sharply, your chest heaving before you exhaled the answer,
“Heartbreaking.” An awkward laugh follows. Then, you continued, “He rejected me and it was my first time. So yeah, it was heartbreaking and made me feel shit for like months. At the same time, I was also confused why because I thought we felt the same thing. But turns out, he didn’t. Maybe I just misunderstood everything…”
Your voice trailed off as you look back to that time. That rejection really caused you a lot of confusion and questions to yourself. It took you months to finally accept that you probably just misunderstood your best friend and his actions around you. But once in a while, you still wonder about why he rejected you since he never really explained it. Your eyes looked away from the camera for a few seconds before turning it back there again, forming a small smile.
“Guys, guys, guys! Don’t worry, I already moved on. It’s been years!” you lightheartedly laughed as you see the gloomy expression from Nina and Nayeon.
The latter pouted before asking another question, “What happened to you two after that?”
“We did not talk again after that. Even though we still lived in the same apartment for like a few days. But we were already preparing to move out at that time. To avoid awkward moments, I decided to pack early, secretly leave the place– much earlier than we planned, and stay back home in the meantime. I didn’t ghost him. I e-mailed him that I just had to go back home early for a cousin’s wedding. It’s an obvious lie. I know that he knew it. I think that was the only I addressed my confession to him and let him know that we are still friends. But we became acquaintances for years before we finally met again. Our friendship rekindled, I think, sometimes when I was in med school.” you shared.
Nayeon’s eyes widened, “So, you still talk now?”
“Of course, he is still my friend. We still hang out if we can. But due to our conflicting schedules and workloads, we rarely do anything together now except for video chatting or calls. We tried planning a dinner or something but there will always be something that would stop it. So, we just settled in virtual meets.” you chuckled. “So yeah, those are the scariest things I’ve done. The confession is, of course, the highest.”
“Okay… So let’s base it on the scariest one which was the confession. Our last question is… on a scale of 1 to 10, how scary was it?”
You poked your cheek with your tongue as you think of it. And answered, “Probably 10.”
“Why?”
“Other than it was really nerve-wracking…” you paused for a second and bit your lower lip. “I have more than 10 years of friendship with him to risk before making a decision to confess. It was a fun, crazy, decade-long platonic relationship and I love every nanosecond of it. And for me to decide to confess, I was aware that I had to make sure that all of it will not go to waste. So yeah, a big 10 for me.”
Tumblr media
“Did I ever meet this guy?”
Nina walked you out of their studio after you finished your appearance for their video and said goodbye to their small team. You chuckled as you two entered the elevator.
“No, I doubt that you met him in college. You probably saw him in pictures though.”
She gasped and immediately pulled out her phone from her back pocket. You laughed.
“Good luck with finding him. You need to scroll back to years of your ex’s posts to spot the guy I talked about.”
It was a useless warning. Nina was unbothered and scrolled as you reached the ground floor for parking spaces. You easily spotted your car. Nina sighed, putting her phone back in her pants.
“I’ll look for him later.” she sneered. You just smiled. Nina spoke again, “But thank you for coming today, Y/N! I’m really happy to see you again after years.”
She hugged you and you hugged her back, “Me too. Thank you for inviting me.”
After more minutes of planning to meet again soon for drinks and bonding, Nina finally lets you go. You waved to her from your car before driving away. You took a glimpse at your phone that sat on the passenger seat, no messages. It was only six in the evening. Here you are heading straight home. You got nothing to do anyway. You don’t have any work schedule anymore, you already did them before the interview. You thought of going to a drive-thru for a burger and fries. But maybe you’ll just order online.
This whole interview thing has worn you out a little but it felt refreshing at the same time. You’re probably from all the talking and limiting the things you could share. Nonetheless, it was nice to talk about the past. You get to relive that part of your life for a short while. High school, college, and all the memories you had with Taehyung.
It’s probably for the best.
That’s what you always thought when you found yourself reminiscing about the time he rejected you. You really had your hopes up before confessing to him, you always thought that there was something. But you had to learn you were wrong the hard way.
Pairing: Yandere Jungkook x Fem/AFAB Reader
"Guys, stop," You whined as you tossed and turned in the bed, trying to hide your face from them.
"Never!" Jungkook yelled and turned your back on your back so Taehyung and Jimin could continue kissing your face.
You giggled and tried to push them away, but the warm, toned bodies wouldn't budge.
"You better stop before I call Yoongi," You managed to get out in between giggles and kisses. They suddenly stopped and you opened your eyes, blinking at them with a smirk on your face.
"You wouldn't dare," Taehyung eyed you.
"Try me."
The three men looked at each other before letting you go.
"That's what I thought," You hummed smugly as they moved away from your body.
"That wasn't nice cry baby," Jimin tutted.
"No, but you love me anyway, right?"
His response was a quick peck on your forehead, making you grin happily.
That wasn't reality, well it was, just not your current.
You immediately sat up as soon as you saw Jungkook's face next to yours, pushing right through his strong grip on your waist.
The rest of them were still asleep as you looked around the bed. They looked peaceful, happy even. But you were full of regret and disappointment. And you were so disgusted with yourself.
Though you were on good terms with the boys, how could you allow yourself to be so vulnerable around them? Especially when they hadn't worked for it ever since they broke your heart.
But you always had a soft spot for them and you assumed you always would despite everything.
You tried to slip out from under the covers as quietly as possible, which wasn't too hard. But climbing over Jungkook, Hoseok, and Jimin's bodies was a far more difficult task.
You huffed once you realized you were wearing Jungkook's button-up from the night before. The one he wore to your shit show of a wedding.
You grabbed your heels and dress from off of the floor, and your phone from the nightstand so you could call yourself a ride.
"Y/N, where are you going?"
Jungkook's voice was groggy and the way he rubbed his eyes with a small pout on his face would've made you melt two years ago, maybe even a year ago. But it only further irritated you.
He wasn't the problem necessarily, but your inability to keep your walls up around them frustrated you.
"Home."
"You don't want to stay for breakfast?"
"No. This was a mistake," You shook your head as you booked your Lyft.
You slipped your phone under your armpit as you looked around for some pants to wear.
You picked up the first pair you saw which might be either Jimin or Yoongi's basketball shorts. But you could care less as you slipped them on your body and tied the strings tight around your waist.
"Y/N-"
But you quickly cut him off, not wanting to hear anything that might persuade you to stay.
"Just let me go. I bared my soul to you last night; you know all my insecurities, all my fears. I'm so embarrassed. And the blogs are probably tearing me to shreds right now," You ranted. You grew hot at the thought of the blogs and how much damage control you'd have to do. It wasn't just about your reputation anymore, but about your family's business. "I have to deal with the consequences of my bad decisions. I can't lay up in this bed with you all and pretend we're in love. We're not."
Jungkook sat up from the bed, letting the covers fall to his lap and display his bare chest. He looked so vulnerable as he sat there looking at you with a quivering lip and big, begging eyes.
"We let you go before."
"Because you didn't love me."
"We always loved you, Y/N. We'll always love you."
You scoffed as you turned your back on him so you could leave and wait for your ride downstairs in their living room. "I've heard it all before, by way too many people. I'm done."
As you walked the halls of the house you once called home, you thought about the last time you were here. When you left them after they told you they didn't love you anymore and you refused to break down in front of them.
Yet last night, you had been so weak it made your stomach hurt.
You had no idea what made you want to watch Forrest Gump, but the boys easily obliged.
It was a dumb decision on both parts; you knew you would cry, they knew you would cry and the whole point of being with them was so that they could keep your mind off of what was going on.
"She didn't deserve him," You mumbled as the tears rolled down your face. "He... he deserved a pure love. He didn't deserve to be used when she was bored and then left by himself for years on end. He deserved so much better."
"We know," Jimin nodded and placed your head on his chest as Hoseok leaned over Jimin to take the bottle from your hands.
You were so out of it you barely noticed and just rested your head on Jimin's chest. You were curled up between him and Namjoon, the heat of their bodies bringing you comfort and allowing you to relax.
"I deserved so much better. And now I'm just... damaged goods all because I wanted to be loved." "Y/N, don't say that, you're not damaged goods," Namjoon quickly spoke up and rubbed your back with his large hands. Hands you used to love and crave holding. Hands that always brought you home.
"What was it about me that made you stop loving me? Was there someone else?" You looked up at Jimin, his eyes immediately meeting yours. They were questions that weighed on you for a while now, and it was something they knew they'd have to answer eventually. "Why won't anyone love me?"
"You did absolutely nothing wrong," Jungkook assured you as he shot off the couch to kneel in front of you.
"And there was no one else. There will never be anyone else," Yoongi promised.
"I don't know if I can believe that right now. I want to, but I can't."
Jungkook visibly deflated in front of you and let a pout rest on his face. The guilt you felt when you saw his pout wasn't even a fraction of the guilt they all felt.
As Jungkook rested his head on your lap, you were almost convinced to forgive them.
Almost.
Your last day in Bora Bora was nothing short of wet. The thunderstorm lasted all day and you were stuck wondering if it would affect your plane ride home tomorrow.
You hoped it would be sunny in Seoul; sunny and ready for the new woman you've become.
You spent a whole year here, doing small things for Y/L/N Incorporated and taking classes to stay on top of the ever-changing business world. You wanted to be prepared to take over the business by the time you got back home. And while the classes were stressful at times, they kept you on your toes and made you a better businesswoman.
Every Monday you talked to your therapist, which is something you don't plan on changing. You learned about the importance of communication and how much chaos there would be without it. You know firsthand how the lack of communication can ruin things that could've easily been salvaged. Your therapist also taught you how to let things go if you feel something is no longer worth your time and energy.
This time away from Seoul and all the drama you left there to die, did wonders. You truly took the time to focus on yourself and become a better person.
You forgave Kyong even though he never offered you an apology. That hurt wasn't something worth holding onto. It was only hurting you and allowing bitterness to manifest inside of you.
The boys were the easiest to forgive seeing as they tried offering explanations and apologies. And even though you didn't believe them at the time they were offered, you believed them now. You allowed yourself to look past your anxiety and believe you were a good fiancée. You were kind and loyal and thoughtful. And for a while, you believed you deserved everything that happened to you, but now you know that you didn't.
Most importantly, you forgave yourself. After starting to believe you deserved all the good things in the world, you were mad at yourself for ever allowing anything that wasn't such.
You were the hardest person to forgive but you knew to love yourself you had to forgive and let go. It's one thing to resent someone but it's another to resent yourself. You were only hurting yourself and you were tired of feeling weak.
This year helped you love yourself, so much so that you're not scared to be alone anymore. You were ready to take on the world and you were more than happy to do it by yourself.
So as the rain came down and the clouds swarmed over your vacation home, you allowed yourself to take a deep breath and think positive.
Rain is a good thing; it helps even the most neglected forms of life grow.
The first order of business after you settled into your apartment was having dinner with Ha-joon. Your loyal and protective best friend didn't go a day without talking to you while you were away. Whether it was a simple text or a two-hour-long phone call, Hajoon didn't miss a day.
You could see Hajoon jumping up and down and clapping excitedly as you walked toward her. The glaring streetlight showed every bit of emotion on her face and you don't think you've ever seen anyone so thrilled.
"Y/N!"
"Relax, it's not like Beyoncé's here," You teased once you finally reached her.
She wasted no time pulling you into a hug and squealing loudly in your ear. "I missed you so much!" She professed, not caring about the future of your hearing or the fact that everyone was beginning to stare at her.
"Okay, Ha-joon, stop yelling before you rupture my eardrum or something."
"I'm just so happy to see you."
"I know," You nodded as you pulled away from her death grip and held her at arm's length. "And I'm happy to see you too, but I'm hungry."
"Okay, let's go feed the boss."
By the end of dinner, you were almost certain that Hajoon's cheeks hurt from smiling so much. And it seemed like there was never a silent moment, not even when you were eating. Despite being in contact every day, it was like there was always something new to mention. Ha-joon was special and you loved that she loved you.
Ha-joon was the only love you obtained, that wasn't from family, that stayed. You loved being loved by her and you loved loving her. She was home.
"You know, this is the longest time you've been single since I've known you. I know you're smiling and all in vacation mode still, but are you okay? You don't have to pretend for me you know?"
You took a second and sighed before responding with a smile. "I'm good, I promise. I kind of... like being by myself. I only need to worry about the business, my family, and myself," You shrugged and leaned forward into the table. "Everything else isn't important. Nothing else brings me joy. Relationships have only ever hurt me and I want to be alone for once. It's less stress."
"I'm so proud of you," Ha-joon stated gently and reached over the table to squish your cheeks in her soft hands. "Always."
"I know. Thank you."
You stared at yourself in the mirror as your hairstylist put the finishing touches on your hair.
The blue Prada pantsuit was almost suffocating as your nerves began to settle in.
Despite you preparing for this day all of your life, but especially this past year since you got back from Bora Bora, you couldn't help but feel jittery.
You went over your speech a million times, you practiced in front of your parents, in front of the company's board members, and the mirror. You were more than prepared for this press conference, but public speaking was never your forte.
You fixed the collar on your white blouse and let out a shaky breath.
"Y/N, you can always cancel the conference. We know it's the professional route to go, but if it's making you this nervous, it's not worth it," Your mom spoke from behind you, resting a hand on your shoulder.
"I know, but... I can do this," You nodded and gave her a soft smile through the mirror.
"We know you can, but we're saying you don't have to. You've been through a lot."
You smiled at your dad who stood beside your mom. "I know but I'm okay. I swear, you guys know I've never liked public speaking. But I'm ready."
They both nodded and took a step back from you. "We're going to go get the conference started. We're proud of you, Y/N."
You nodded once more and watched them walk out of the meeting room set up to be your dressing room just for today's event. This conference room was a couple of doors down from the auditorium where the conference would be held.
The Y/L/N Incorporated auditorium was rarely ever used. The first time was 20 years ago when the building was first bought, 10 years later after it was renovated, and now as you're getting ready to take over the company.
The door to the room never shut, making you look up from your black heels and see Namjoon standing in the doorway.
"Hey!" You greeted him and turned around.
Namjoon took your greeting as a sign to step further into the room and let the other six men in. "We came to watch the conference, seeing as we're partners," Namjoon explained, giving you a big smile, showing his dimples.
"And what are you guys doing in my makeshift dressing room?" You chuckled.
Hoseok looked over at your hairstylist before back at you, signaling they wanted privacy.
You turned to your hairstylist and let her know you were all set and watched her rush out, intimated by the bit of tense air in the room.
"We were worried about you," Taehyung admitted and moved to shut the door.
"Why?"
"Y/N, you disappeared for a whole year!" Jin exclaimed, allowing himself to be overdramatic. "We only knew you were alive because you'd send your weekly emails making sure everything was going well with the partnership."
"Well, I'm okay and I feel refreshed-"
"And then you were here for a whole year and refused to meet with us!" Jimin cut you off.
"I know, I know but I was trying to prepare for this day. I shadowed my parents all year and now I'm officially becoming CEO; I didn't need any distractions."
"And now we're distractions," Jimin continued dramatically. "Are you trying to hurt us?"
You and Hoseok playfully rolled your eyes at his theatrics.
"I needed the year away from the city and another year away from anyone that would stunt my growth, no offense," You expressed softly, trying to phrase what you were saying as nicely as possible.
Yoongi nodded, "we understand."
It was silent for a moment and you awkwardly stared at them as they did you. Their typical black suits were perfectly tailored to their bodies and their black dress shoes, were squeaky clean.
"We got something for you," Jungkook blurted out and gently hit Namjoon.
"Oh right," Namjoon nodded and pulled a black box from the inside of his jacket.
You walked across the room with a scrunched-up face, obviously confused at the black box he had. As you got closer, you could see how nervous they were, Namjoon's hands slightly shaking. "Hey, no need to be nervous," You told them, keeping your tone easy and tender. "It's just me, don't worry."
You took the box from Namjoon's shaky hands and slowly opened it, not prepared for what was inside.
"Oh," You mumbled, face full of shock.
"Oh?" Jungkook repeated, not sure how to respond to your response.
"You guys kept the ring."
"Well, you were supposed to keep it," Namjoon coughed and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
Hoseok quickly picked up after him, "but you always said it was your good luck charm so we brought it for you. We put it on a chain so you could wear it around your neck."
"How thoughtful of you guys. Thank you, seriously!" You smiled and pulled Namjoon into a hug.
"You mean everything to us, we wanted you to have a piece of us," Namjoon said and wrapped his arms around you.
"We know it's tied to bad memories, but maybe we can find it in you to see the good in it. We had good memories too," Taehyung spoke up and gave you a small grin.
"Thank you," You nodded again and pulled away from Namjoon. "I'll wear it on my first official day. I don't want to risk any of the press recognizing it and then... you know. They focus on the ring and not what I have to say. I'm doing my best to avoid 'bad' publicity. Again, no offense."
"None taken, Y/N," Jin promised. "You've really matured during your time away. I'm proud of you." "I've been hearing that a lot lately. It means a lot.”
But the person you were two years ago would've appreciated it more. She needed it more than you did.
While it made you happy to make everyone proud, you didn't need everyone's approval anymore.
Meeting after meeting after meeting. Before you were CEO, your parents didn't take on meetings, splitting them between you and other employees.
But you wanted to be as hands-on as possible and you had a day set just for meetings, Hajoon by your side the whole time.
"You don't see all these people flirting with you?" Ha-joon asked you, cleaning up her notes and putting them all in a folder.
"Huh?”
You looked at the notes about the next meeting, relaxing a bit when you saw "Bangtan Enterprises" and slipped your heels off.
"You didn't see Do-yun staring at you with big heart eyes?"
"No, I was too focused on his horrible business plan. What was he thinking?" You scoffed and tossed your Apple Pen on the table next to your iPad. "The math wasn't mathing, there was no direction... it was just a mess."
"Hey, don't worry about it," Ha-joon shushed you and rubbed your bicep. "I'll draft up a rejection email, you'll look over it, approve it, and then I'll send it."
"No, don't reject him just yet. Allow him a second chance to get it together and we'll... set up another meeting I guess."
"You're so generous."
"Yeah yeah, give him three months," You softly demanded before standing up to stretch. "Next meeting should be coming in soon."
"I guess that's my cue to go."
Your mind drifted to the ring you let sit and collect dust for the past couple of months. It rested right next to your nightstand, one of the first things you see when you wake up and one of the last things you see before you fall asleep.
You always told yourself you'd put it in your jewelry box on your dresser but never got around to it. Or maybe you were purposely procrastinating. You didn't know but maybe you'd discuss it with your therapist next week.
"Hi Y/N."
The greeting had broken you out of your thoughts and you quickly snapped back into reality.
"Hi Jungkook, hi guys. How are you?" You quickly responded and sat upright in your seat. You cleared your throat and intertwined your fingers on the table.
Whatever nervousness you felt, you immediately pushed away. This was a business meeting, not a casual dinner; you need to be composed, professional, and on top of everything.
You don't know what you were expecting but you weren't expecting complete silence.
They stood stoically as you grazed over their faces with their eyes. They were serious but not business serious, they seemed to be controlled by their emotions. It was as if tables were turning and while you gained control over your emotions when it came to them, they were slowly losing their control.
The silence stood for a moment and it was awkward as the eight of you stared at each other, waiting for someone to speak. They were waiting on an explanation you didn't know you had to provide and you were waiting on them to tell you what was wrong.
"Are you dating someone?"
"Where's your ring?"
"Why are you ignoring us?"
Your eyes widened at the ambush of questions from Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook, respectively.
"Pardon?" You let out a shaky breath and moved your arms to cross over your chest.
"Are you dating someone?" Taehyung asked again, his voice was strong but he looked almost defeated.
"I don't really think my dating life is any of your business."
Yoongi's eyes narrowed at you and in retaliation, your eyes narrowed back. "Where's the ring?" He asked.
"My apartment."
"Why have you been ignoring us?" Jungkook asked again, lip wobbling, looking the most vulnerable out of the eight of you.
"I haven't been ignoring you, I’ve been busy. Can we talk business now?" You replied sharply, growing more and more frustrated and maybe angry.
"We just want what's best for you Y/N-"
"Oh and that's you?"
It wasn't the nicest thing you could've said but it wasn't the meanest either. You didn't understand why they had come into a business meeting questioning you as if you were someone that was supposed to be loyal to them. If ignoring their texts, calls, and even emails on your personal devices wasn't a hint, you didn't know what was.
Taking that ring back was not a sign that you were getting back together or owed them anything, but you don't know where they got off thinking that.
But deep down, you couldn't even pin down why you were ignoring them. The ring that they gave to you still held so much weight even if they did want it to now signify a new beginning. There would never be a fresh start; too much pain has been caused for you to be able to start fresh with them.
And despite how smart they were, you could see they still lacked emotional intelligence. You thought they understood things would never be the same again.
You've also made it more than clear to everyone that you were strictly focused on the business and yourself. You couldn't see where you ever gave them any indication of anything otherwise.
You took a deep breath and uncrossed your arms as you stood from the rolling chair at the end of the glass meeting table. You collected your things and even slipped on your heels.
"How about I have Ha-joon reschedule this meeting? And so that everyone is happy, you'll meet with her instead of me. Sound good? Okay, great."
You shuffled out of the room and toward your office.
As guilty as it made you, you walked by the people working on that floor without a greeting, a wave, or even a smile. You always said something to them, making sure they were okay and good to work, but all you could focus on was getting back to your office.
"Y/N-"
You quickly shut the door behind you, not letting Ha-joon finish whatever she was going to say.
"What did you all do?" You could hear her start to berate them.
Luckily your office was down the hall, away from anyone else that was working.
You sighed as you sat down in your chair behind your desk. You closed your eyes and rested your head on your desk, taking deep breaths as your therapist taught you.
You picture your toes in the white sand, the waves crashing against them as you watched the sunset. You remembered how at peace you were, excited to start new, proud of how much you've grown.
You remember wanting to stay in this moment forever and the reality you were in right now, made you miss Bora Bora more than you already did.
The certainty you felt mere months ago was gone, ever since you got that stupid ring back.
It's done nothing but keep you up at night and cause more confusion than you've ever felt in your entire life.
You heard the door open causing you to immediately groan.
Things were placed on your desk and there was a long silence. You've had more than enough silence for one day, especially since it wasn't a product of productivity.
"What do you all possibly want from me?" You asked as you sat up.
Your eyes searched their bodies but their eyes were focused on your desk. You looked down with a frown that only grew deeper when you recognized what you were looking at.
On your desk was the locket Jimin gave you, the Bangtan bracelet you made with Jungkook, and the polaroid picture of you and Yoongi.
"Why do you guys do this to me?"
Your lip began to quiver and your body grew due to embarrassment.
"Y/N, please don't cry-"
"Why do you do this when you know I'm trying to heal? Why do you want to hurt me?"
The hot tears began to trickle down your face as you stared at them, their faces guilt-ridden.
Good. They should feel guilty.
"It's-it's not like that at all," Jungkook spoke up, tripping over his own words. His big doe eyes began to mirror yours and you felt your heart break at his tears.
"We just need to know if there's ever a possibility that you'll give us another chance?" Jimin asked, looking down at his hands as he fidgeted with them.
"It's always been you, Y/N. It'll always be you," Namjoon confessed, making you roll your eyes. They were always too little too late.
"We're not even together and you're already making me cry. That's not a red flag to y'all?" Tears kept streaming down your face as you ranted. "No, there isn't a chance we'll get back together. I deserve better."
"We're sorry Y/N," Hoseok quietly confessed before making his way out of your office.
Namjoon followed after him with a sigh, Yoongi left silently, and Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook turned away hesitantly.
Jin stayed back and watched you slowly point to the souvenirs they left on your desk.
"Just take that stuff and leave."
ceo tae meets spideykoo
#taekookau
Young, rich CEO Taehyung has no time to think about self-righteous superheroes flying in the city, much less spend precious time talking to them in the dead of night.
Until spiderman falls through his office window at 3am, bruised and battered, pleading for help.
"Shit," Taehyung hisses. The hero is heavy in his arms, and definitely would've thumped to the floor had Taehyung not caught him.
Isn't it meant to be the other way around, the hero saving the innocent civilian? When Taehyung had woken up at 4am yesterday morning, he didn't think he'd still be here, almost 24 hours later, with a dazed and stumbling "mighty" hero clinging to him.
"Alright." Taehyung hauls the deadweight in his arms to his office couch. "Work with me here, Spidey."
But Spiderman just mumbles something incoherent. His head lolls to the side and drops onto Taehyung's shoulder. Then, he hiccups.
"Yeah. Thanks for that wonderful input."
Taehyung can't help his sour mood. There's two reports still pending for his approval, an extensive Excel spreadsheet he has to double check, and now there's blood on his silk dress shirt.
He sighs deeply, fighting the urge to groan when Spiderman warblers something unintelligible — all pained groans and breathy words. He coughs, thick and wet.
Taehyung dumps him on the couch. Spiderman sinks into it with an agonised exclamation of "/shit/!", and maybe the CEO feels a little bad about that.
"What happened to you?" Taehyung eyes him critically, arms crossed. There are scrapes and tears on his uniform. The hero's arms curl around his stomach, hunching in on himself in pain.
In a few minutes, Taehyung finds himself hunched over his desk, rummaging around for a first aid kit. It's so eerily quiet inside, nothing but Spiderman's anguished breaths. Despite the cool night, Taehyung feels the beginnings of sweat begin to trail down his spine.
With his painkillers and first aid kit in hand, Taehyung kneels down on the ground beside Spiderman's immobilised body. There's nothing except toned muscles and a faint trembling to his form that Taehyung can see with the suit on.
Fuck, he hopes Spiderman isn't severely wounded. His first aid kit is the size of his hand, and Taehyung doesn't know any complicated first aid in the first place.
Heroes also have some weird aversion to going to the hospital.
Honestly, Taehyung can relate. He's much rather chug down some nice, warm chicken noodle soup laced with three cans of energy drinks before stumbling to his computer in a daze of headaches, nausea, and jittery restlessness.
"Gonna take your mask off, okay?" Taehyung reaches towards his face. "I've got some painkillers. But I'll need confirmation from you, Spidey."
Finally, Spiderman mumbles out a weak, "yeah, do it. Please."
Taehyung holds back a surprised smile at the polite manners. "Here I go."
After that, hours pass in a blur. Mask off, Spiderman looks much more like a college kid than someone who has the responsibility of a whole city's safety on his shoulders. Quite pretty, if you ask Taehyung.
But you probably shouldn't, because he'll most likely roll his eyes, grumble, and /deny/ that Spiderman's long, fluttering lashes and flushed cheeks, his petal lips and strong nose, his angular jaw, sharp brows, and wide bambi eyes are absolutely /not/ endearing, nor attractive. And if Taehyung stared at him for longer than necessary under the dim, fluorescent wash of the city's 3am lights filtering through his window, it's because he was looking for any more wounds to clean.
When the painkillers seem to kick in, and Spiderman's whimpering descends into ragged breaths, Taehyung stands up and finds the spare pair of dress shirt and pants he keeps. (A precaution, really. He's had more than his fair share of spilled coffees and burst pens).
"When you're ready, change into these. I'll leave the first aid kit for you here if you want to clean yourself up a little more. The couch is yours for tonight." At Spiderman's widened, panicked eyes, Taehyung huffs out a laugh. "I'm not going. Just gonna make myself some coffee, then I'll come back, yeah?"
Spiderman relaxes, eyes fluttering tiredly, and nods.
"I'll bring you some water as well."
With that, Taehyung is up and striding out of the office. He stops by the bathroom, stares at himself and the splatters of blood on his shirt in the mirror, asks himself what he's doing.
His reflection stares back at him. /What the fuck /are/ you doing?/
Taehyung hangs his head and lets out a sardonic laugh. He doesn't know.
But that's his problem to think about tomorrow, when he's got a raging migraine, chicken noodle soup, and more work to distract him.
When he comes back to his office with a mug of coffee, a water bottle, and a spare blanket from the staff room, Spiderman has already changed into the spare clothes. In a heap by the couch lies his tattered suit.
Spiderman's eyes are on him the second he steps foot inside. It's quite charming, the way his dark gaze twinkles with curiosity, even under the low lights.
"Spidey, catch." Taehyung throws the water bottle. Probably not the best move to chuck a full, hefty water bottle at an injured man's head, but Spiderman catches it easily, even if he winces harshly. Taehyung shoots him an apologetic look. "Shit, sorry."
Spiderman just shrugs before downing the water in cyclic bursts of desperate drinking and heavy breaths. Taehyung watches on, a little concerned, as Spiderman finishes the bottle within minutes.
"Impressive."
"Thank you." /Oh/, there's Spiderman's voice. It's smooth, definitely young enough for college. He peers up at Taehyung. "Really, for everything."
Taehyung cocks an eyebrow. "You're welcome. Here's a blanket. Sleep on the couch if you need to." He strides over this time and hands the blanket to the hero. "I'll just be working for a bit more."
Spiderman takes the soft blanket with a frown. "Working now?"
Taehyung shrugs. "Yeah."
"But it's 3 am. Shouldn't you be sleeping?"
Taehyung can't help but let the corners of his lip quirks up. "/You're/ the injured one here. Worry about yourself first. I'll be fine."
No, he most likely won't be. Maybe he'll pull another 48 hours without sleep.
"...Alright."
"I'll keep the lights off." Taehyung walks back over to his chair and settles in behind the desk. "Just sleep, Spidey."
Spiderman slowly settles more comfortably on the couch. He drapes the blanket over himself and peeks out at Taehyung over the top. Taehyung thinks he looks like a burrito of softness with two sparkly doe eyes.
"Good night."
How sweet. Taehyung turns back to his computers and documents to hide his grin. "Good night. Sleep well."
Taehyung wakes up the next morning, face planted into the hard wood of his desk. He feels like shit; head cloudy, mouth dry, eyes burning.
He squints at the bright sunlight piercing the room.
But There's the faint aroma of… something in the air. Taehyung's mind clears a little more. Tea? And… a pastry?
Eyes opening a little more, he lifts his head up, only to find a warm mug of tea in a takeaway cup and a croissant on a saucer. There's a note behind it, too.
Taehyung picks it up and forces his sleepy mind to make sense of the small scribbles.
/Thank you for last night. I didn't want to wake you because you looked so peaceful. I'll repay you for everything over the coming days, I promise. I hope you enjoy your breakfast ^^
~ Spiderman./
Taehyung stares at it. Then, his eyes move back to the tea and croissants.
He doesn’t know what the hell is happening. Doesn’t know what the hell /just/ happened for him to suddenly get the attention of one of the city’s most revered superheroes.
The only thing he knows, with reluctant dread, is that things are about to change for his perfect (overworked, stressful) life. Something in the shape of a young man with doe eyes and a tendency to barge in his life and make him question everything he knows.
Taehyung sighs. Well, this is going to be interesting.
—-
He starts getting gifts. Flowers, breakfast, lunch, late dinners. Small notes with flowery writing and small doodles, little decorative statues for his desk, expensive jewelry in chanel boxes.
So much that the rumour of his "secret admirer" has spread through his office like wildfire.
None of them know about the little signature that accompanies every bunch of gifts: a little spider, with the loopy signature of 'Spidey'.
Every single time, he regards the presents with something akin to indifference before reluctantly moving to accept it. He’s a CEO with all the money of the world in his hands. He doesn’t truly need some takeaway lunch that’s undoubtedly from a street vendor, nor another bouquet of flowers to add to his endless pile.
(But that’s only when someone is inside the office with him. When he’s alone, Taehyung likes to take his time staring at the endearing little presents in awe; smelling every flower, savouring the warm food, biting his lip in vain before the uncontrollable smile blooms out because /holy shit, it feels nice to have someone do something so caring and thoughtful/.)
"Ah, Kim Taehyung." His helmet whirs back to reveal a gorgeous, dimpled face underneath. "My name is Kim Namjoon. Or, you may know me more as Iron Man."
"Iron Man." Taehyung walks over to his desk. Shuffles his papers like this is just a normal business meeting. "What can I do for you?"
"I want to thank you for helping Jeo— Spiderman."
Taehyung blinks. Was this another gift of some sorts? "You're welcome."
"He also wanted to ask if you've been enjoying his gifts."
Ah. Taehyung's lips quirk up into a smile. The lingering taste of Spiderman's gifted chamomile tea from this morning still rests on his tongue. It was too watery, really, and with too much sugar. But the note had said that he’d made it himself, so Taehyung instantly loved it. (But no one’s ever going to know that). "Please tell him that I'd rather answer that personally, face to face. He doesn't need to book a schedule, just crawl in through the window like he did that other night."
“Ah, yes. That night.” At that, Namjoon looks a little apologetic. "I admit, that wasn't the best way to ask for help."
"Not really."
"But it worked."
"Surprisingly."
Namjoon coughs stiffly. "I'll talk to him."
Taehyung wants to laugh at how Namjoon keeps looking more and more awkward by the second, but he maintains his poker face. The city's saving grace, fidgeting around Taehyung's office in his hulking, metallic suit, floundering for words.
Maybe superheroes aren't as robotic or ass-tight and self-righteous as he thought.
Spiderman's doe eyes, wide and curious and glimmering and thankful, flash in his mind.
Maybe.
Taehyung cocks his head. "So…"
"Right. I'll, uh, I'll take my leave now."
"Okay—"
Namjoon strides over to his opened window and clambers out. For one heart-stopping moment, he just tips out and Taehyung catches a flash of flailing arms and a small squeak.
Then, there's a high-pitched revving sound, and suddenly Iron Man shoots up into the sky, flying for the horizon.
Do superheroes have some weird aversion to doors, too?
Taehyung stares blankly for a moment. What has his life come to? Truly, he has no idea.
Then, he looks back down at his papers. A rose petal lies between the pages.
(And he smiles softly).
—-
Spiderman doesn't come in a flashy red suit this time around.
Instead, it's a messy-haired college boy in a paint-splattered hoodie and ripped jeans clambering in through his skyscraper office window. One with tattoos curling up one forearm, continuing behind the pushed-up sleeves of the jacket, and piercings decorating his ears, one on his eyebrow. His combat boots thump heavily against Taehyung's carpeted floor a second later.
"You look better."
Taehyung's words bring a deeper flush to Spiderman's face. "Thank you.” Spiderman says it with a small stutter, like he didn’t expect such a comment.
"Can I help you with anything at this wonderful business time of 2:32 am?"
Spiderman's eyes widen. "Is it too late? I just finished a project, and you stayed up at this hour last time, so I thought—"
"Relax," Taehyung drawls, "I was joking, Spidey."
Spiderman blinks. "Jeongguk. My name is Jeon Jeongguk."
"Huh." Taehyung cocks his head. Watches the way Jeongguk's eyes rove around his room, undoubtedly seeing the new addition of bouquet flowers in expensive vases, small painted canvases hung up on the walls. All gifted by him. "Jeongguk."
"Yes?"
"You wanted to know what I thought about the gifts?"
Jeongguk pauses. Then, another wave of light red washes across his cheeks like a rose flower blooming. "Maybe?"
"I think that no one's ever done that for me before." Taehyung leans back on his desk. "I think that they're quite thoughtful, and I have no idea how they get in here, but they're always a pleasant surprise."
"Oh?" Jeongguk takes a few steps closer, almost shyly.
"I think that it's nice to find little notes of encouragement throughout the day. I've never received such beautiful bouquets, and I keep finding petals everywhere."
"That's… that's good."
"And, I think that whoever sent them should just brave up and come a little closer so I can stop screaming across the room." Taehyung smirks when Jeongguk flushes, foundering a little before striding towards him. He stops a few steps away from Taehyung. "Closer…" Jeongguk shuffles a few more steps. "Just a bit more." This time, Jeongguk stops when they're chest to chest. Taehyung leans in, feels the searing heat of Jeongguk's body pressed against his softly, before whispering in his ear. "I think that they're quite romantic." He smiles when Jeongguk's breath hitches. "And maybe the sender didn't think that I wouldn't notice the little hearts, or the flirty compliments in every note."
"I—"
"And I think I'd like to spend a little more time with someone so thoughtful. Maybe go to a cafe and drink coffee with them, instead of alone. But…" Taehyung leans back with a soft sigh. "They’ve never asked."
Jeongguk just blinks dazedly. A soft, "oh," leaves his mouth.
Taehyung smiles. "So, Spiderman, can I ask you to ask them for me? You know this city best. I've left my number on a note, slipped it into your pocket if you didn't realise. Call me when you do."
"Wait." Jeongguk reaches up to clutch at the lapels of Taehyung's blazer before he moves away even more. "It was me. I sent those gifts, ask /me/. Uh, please?"
"You’re so—." Taehyung wants to scream. How can someone be so… Taehyung can’t find the right word. But it’s one that makes him want to hold Spidey and make sure he never gets hurt again. Oh, how soft he’s become. “I know it was you.”
"Just…" Jeongguk lets out a long breath, steeling himself. "I thought you were cute and maybe I developed an itty bitty little crush on you when you helped me and maybe I visited your office to put the gifts in and it made me warm to see you displaying them, even though you knew they were from me, and I know they weren't the best but—"
"Cute."
Jeongguk dissolves into flustered coughs.
"You have my number, Jeongguk." Taehyung reaches up to gently unfurl Jeongguk's hands from his jacket. "Go back and sleep, text me when you have time."
"Yeah, okay," Jeongguk breathes. He steps back. "I'll text you."
Taehyung watches in amusement as he stumbles backwards to the window. "You do that."
"Just— just wait for me." Jeongguk climbs back out the window, hooking a leg over.
"Always. Oh, and Jeongguk?" Taehyung lowers his voice into something softer, something more sincere. "Be careful."
"I will, Taehyung. Bye."
“Bye, Jeongguk.” Taehyung smiles.
Jeongguk stares for a moment, eyes wide. Then, with a small squeak of “good night!” and an endearing salute, Spiderman swings back into the restless city.
—-
Months later, Taehyung finds himself in much the same position as that fateful night: with an armful of Spiderman, struggling to get to the couch.
Except, this time, they're in his apartment.
And Jeongguk isn't in pain. In fact, he's smiling — wide and silly and beautiful — eyes scrunching, and his breathless laughs float through the air. "Tae—"
"Gguk, I swear to god, if you don't stop kissing me—" Jeongguk lands a kiss on his cheek, one on his nose. Taehyung can't hold back his laugh, turning his face away. He stumbles over someone's shoe. "Jeongguk!"
"Babe, hold still."
"/Hold still/—" Taehyung feels something soft and cushiony behind his legs (the couch, finally!) before he throws himself backwards. "You're so impatie—"
Taehyung's words get cut off when Jeongguk looms over him, hooks an arm around his waist, and dips his head low for a sweet, slow kiss. Taehyung can feel Jeongguk's warmth through the thick hoodie, can feel the press of the other's body against his as Jeongguk tilts his head for something deeper, groans when Taehyung curls an arm in his hair and gives it a little tug.
Jeongguk leans back with a satisfied smile, lips spit-licked and eyes warm as they look down at Taehyung. "Nice." He leans down for one more kiss. "Extraordinary."
And, well—
When Taehyung woke up at 4am all those months ago, he didn't think he'd still be awake almost 24 hours later with an injured hero clinging to him. He certainly didn't think that it would lead to this. To nights together in his apartment, precious gifts, late night dates and early morning breakfasts together.
“Hey, babe, Namjoon wanted me to ask you if you wanted to come to his place for dinner tonight?”
“Yeah, of cou—” Taehyung is cut off with a sweet kiss. “Jeongguk!”
“Sorry, got distracted. So, that’s a yes?”
“I swear to go—”
To a boyfriend named Jeon Jeongguk, who loves to kiss him silly and call him "babe", like everything he does doesn't make Taehyung want to melt in endearment and affection.
But he's not complaining.
Taehyung didn't even want to waste a single thought on superheroes before. But, as Jeongguk leans in for another slow kiss and murmurs the sweetest nothings in his ear, Taehyung finds that he doesn't mind wasting all his thoughts on this one in his arms.
And he loves it, just as deeply as he loves Jeongguk.
