I like the batfam happy too so here’s a lil HC :)

since I do HC Jason as Chinese as well as a cooking enthousiast I think he bonds with Cass and Damian through food

Jason will mostly make them dishes he knows, either the few from his youth or the one’s he learnt to make with Alfred when he was living at the manor BUT whenever Cass or Damian has a special request he will learn to make it for them

also since I am Chinese and am projecting I think Jason should be specifically from Beijing which means his dishes are Beijing style

that really doesn’t mean shit to most people, but just know that it means whenever Cass and Damian request something it’ll be very different from what Jason knows

anyways I just think that Jason would feel a bit responsible when it comes to keeping the Chinese spirit alive between the three of them. not only cooking them food but also popping up around the manor when it’s Chinese new year or mid-autumn festival

so there's this post that talks about how people call jason's curved knife a kris but it's not a kris 'cuz why would he have a southeast asian knife? and op's tags say if you're gonna give him an 'exotic' weapon at least make him malay or something. a later reblog adds a filipino kris as an example, and then i was like, 'omg, jason in a barong tho.' I think Jason Todd is bad at using chopsticks. One of the teachers Talia sent him to only let him use chopsticks to eat for dexterity training, but didn’t particularly care about teaching him the ‘right’ way as long as his dexterity improved. Jason had to adapt, quickly, and settled for whatever way worked the most consistently.

The first time you see Jason eat with chopsticks, you’re shocked by how he’s able to eat anything with them at all. Tentatively you ask if you could teach him an easier way, if only to get him fed properly if nothing else. He agrees, feeling a bit silly, but that’s still a start! You take the hair elastic from around your wrist and tie it around the ends of his chopsticks, a makeshift training pair. You take his empty palm and fold his fingers over them, thumb and middle finger supporting each side of the top one, index resting on top, ring finger supporting the bottom one in the cradle of your thumb. He clicks the tips together experimentally.

It takes more than one meal for him to get used to the new way of handling them, handing his chopsticks over to you to tie before each meal, but it doesn’t take long. He grins at you widely the first time he picks up rice without the training chopsticks and you can’t help but smile back.

Guys, if we make Tim South East Asian, we can have all the boy Robins be Brown. Dick's Romani, a large amount of people Hc Jason as Latino, and Damian is Arab. I'm pretty sure the current Tim hc race is half Korean, but like... I can see Tim being half Singaporean, or Indonesian. It would also be really funny because it would make Damian and Tim look really similar and just imagine a random white lady walking up to the both of them and going "Oh! is this your brother?" and Damian going "No! I'm not related to Drake!" and it happens seven times and ends in Damian begrudgingly saying, "Yes, though he is adopted"

asian-ifying the batfamily with technically-not-quite-canon evidence but it makes enough sense in my head:

dick is half romani/half white, and it sounds like romani people are considered indo-aryan, and come primarily from india but also any of the surrounding countries in that area, so we’re good here

BUT, to be extra, i’m also heavily leaning into the wfa live action that got cancelled, where dick was going to be played by yoshi sudarso (indonesian), who i love. AND dick’s voice actor in gotham knights is christopher sean, who’s mixed japanese/white

basically what i’m saying is that the dick in my head deserves to be a poc at this point

cass is already canonically chinese/white

damian is also already canonically arab/chinese/white

jason, though he is canonically fully white, before finding out his biological mother was sheila haywood, both he and bruce briefly consider lady shiva (for some reason). so. he must at least look to be mixed race for it to be a genuine possibility

also his va in gotham knights is chinese (stephen oyoung)

for tim, i am still living in the era when ryan potter made a video to campaign to be tim drake for ben affleck’s batman. it didn’t work, they didn’t want a robin for those movies, but from then on he became the tim drake in my heart

though in titans (which i haven’t actually watched), it looks like his character is blasian? (jay lycurgo) so i’m here for that too, tim is just meant to be mixed race <3

Jason Todd is like the MCs of those (a lot of them chinese) asian novels that start like:

"My father let me aside, my older brother turned his back on me, even my dearest [X family member/friend] left. At the end, I was alone. Nothing was left for me.

Just when I died I found out that my life was a novel and I was a cannon fodder— a step stone for the protagonist, [X person he didn't get along with and got everything he wanted]"

It's just that he doesn't know it yet. But he meets all the requirements otherwise.

-Terrible sad backstory.

-Kept forgiving the people who actually gives zero fucks about him.

-When someone (of the people who would fit the important character roles in the inside novel) treated him "well", most of the time is because they want something of him.

-A few good friends who either die before him or would mourn him after his inside-novel death. (Usually one of the regrets of the real novel mc is not listening to them/spending more time/"letting" they die).

-Bad reputation between the inside-novel characters (sometimes it can also be an overall bad reputation, specially if the mc is famous or it's a showbiz story).

-Inexplicable Piss Poor Luck.

-Ends alone no matter what he tries (always before returning back in time).

-Possible DNA drama.

-A mother figure that loves him, whom probably he was separated from by the narrative (death if she was already part of his life, like Catherine, kidnapping/disaparition if it would be an unknown biological mom— not Sheila, obvs—, or other plots/assholes if is a mother figure like in his adult life).

-The father mentioned in the description has a lot of power (AKA, Bruce).

~ You’re the product of a former one-night stand Jason had as a teenager.

~ Jason didn't know he had a kid until he got a call from bruce saying, Commissioner Gordon need him down at the station. He didn't know what he was expecting but having a kid, wasn't it. He was informed that your mother had passed and you would now be put in his care.

~ Jason had no clue how to take care of a kid so the first place you went after being released into his custody was Wayne Manor. You were greeted with a warm welcome by both Alfred and Bruce. You roamed around the house as Jason, Alfred, and Bruce were talking when you ran into Tim.

~ Tim was already sleep-deprived running on 1 hour of sleep and 4 cups of coffee was oh so very confused hearing that JASON TODD had a daughter. I mean how could this be he’s never heard of you. Eventually, you got tired of him asking the same question trying to comprehend what he heard, and walked off. Where you ran into Dick.

~ Who was also confused but slightly less. You explained the situation once again. He tried comforting you with the loss of your mother knowing what it's like but you brushed it off. He offered to take you to the kitchen to get food which you didn't decline. neither would I. You guys make random small talk until Jason's voice could be heard echoing through the manor yelling your name you follow the noise meeting him. “There you are come on where leaving,” he said in an uncertain gentle but stern voice.

~ He took you shopping to get all the necessary things. yes, he used bruce's card but in his defense, he gave it to him to use on you. He took you to get new clothes, shoes, a phone, and anything you asked for.

~ He struggles with discipline because you obviously just met him and he doesn't want to seem like the asshole. That is until you put yourself in a dangerous position like drinking, or smoking at a party. You guys have a nice heart-to-heart convo and told you if your gonna do stuff like that at least do it when he is there cuz it's better to have supervision and guidance than be on your own.

~ You guys definitely develop one of those close father-daughter relationships. You can talk to each other about anything where you’re looking for advice or someone to listen to.

~ Your fav uncle is Dick and ur fav aunt is Kate there just superior. don't attack me love all the bat fam.

~ Like I said earlier he is kinda lenient you can curse around him and at other people just not him, you can have a S/O but don't think for one moment the entire bat fam won't interrogate them before and pray for them if they break your heart
