Hi pook 😢 ( sorry if u don’t like the nickname) but I’ve been reading your series and I am reading Into the Fire (chapter 8) and I’m just wondering why you made Sokka give in so easily when people tell him to control himself that’s not Zuko. Because I would imagine that he would be more stubborn and more focused on what he wants instead of being caring. Even though he’s a caring and kind person I feel like being in prison would make him more selfish and less understanding of other people if than makes sense 😭
Like it just aggravates me when I see Katara try to idk really baby him and control him a bit (not mentally) it just kind of annoys me. Because even though Sokka loves his Sister I feel like he shouldn’t listen to her for real.
But that’s just me because that’s my opinion coming from someone behind has anger issues/ gets angry easily 🤷‍♀️
I love love love this series btw!!!!
Tumblr media
I added your other ask too so I could respond to both! Hiiii hellooooo I don’t mind nicknames it’s actually nice because then I can keep anons apart haha
as for your comment about sokka I gotta say you’re probably the first person to tell me sokka isn’t angry enough haha. Which is fine because everyone’s allowed to have their own opinions, but my thoughts on LIAB angry sokka is his intelligence is often battling his emotions. I think sokka is smart enough to know he isn’t supposed to be lashing out at people the way he is or clinging to Zuko so tightly to where they both can’t breathe. i also think he is desperate to be back to his “old self” without actually wanting to be his old self. I do think he is fighting his path to healing every step of the way but even with all the time spent in prison he is still SOKKA. He cares for people he loves his family and he knows from watching his parents growing up what a healthy relationship looks like - his codependency to zuko is probably not it. I doubt it will change much, but when people tell him ‘you need to chill’ Sokka is very much like I FUCKING KNOW BUT I HAVE NO CHILL!!! NONE! ZERO CHILL.
but I can’t imagine sokka wanting to hurt anyone who doesn’t deserve it. Or fighting his friends and family to isolate himself anymore than he already is. I have learned that writing a more emotionally triggering fic does stir up emotions in people and causes them to project onto the characters a bit which is fine but everyone processing trauma differently. & sokka is doing it his own way just like zuko is.
Also…. This is a fanfic and I don’t know if people wanna read sokka being a raging asshole for 50k… so some of the realism in healing gets lost to word count because unfortunately I can’t spend years and 1000k helping these boys overcome their trauma so some of it has to be rushed a little for word count / plot purposes haha.
Liiiiiiisten here pooki-anon you come yell at me anytime about liab I’ll be right here to soak up every word! Thanks for the ask I’m glad you’re enjoying the series!!

Azriel x third-oldest-Archeron-sibling!Reader: Can’t Bring Myself To Hate You
A/N: I was in the mood for a writing a heated argument that turns into an even hotter make-out session, but then it got slightly depressing so…
Warning: slight angst but not much because I can’t take that emotionally :’)
-Part 2[*]-
“How was she today?”
You fight the urge to clench your jaw. The harsh snapping of your book is the limit to how far you’ll allow the leash on your anger to slip. Jealousy? Frustration? Whatever complicated nonsense he’s gotten you tangled up in.
“No hello? What about a how are you today?” You ask tersely. So much for keeping your emotions on a tight leash. His brow narrows a little—you don’t usually bubble over when he asks how your older sister is doing. “You weren’t practically bed-ridden for months,” he replies slowly, gauging your response carefully.
Instantly, guilt weighs in the pit of your stomach, and you look away quickly. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to snap at you,” you soothe hastily. Gods, why did you say that to him? You’re trying to gain his favour, not make him think you’re an ungrateful, self-absorbed sister. “She was fine. We did some baking—well, Elain did some baking, I was reading something. It’s a new book, actually! Because I finished the last one, which was actually pretty good, but this one I think is set in the last war and…” you trail off when you notice the patient smile he’s giving you.
Right. He’s not interested in what book you’re reading, or how you spent the day. He’s not interested in you full stop. He’s interested in Elain. You fight the way disappointment wants to twist the edges of your mouth, instead plastering on a smile that you hope he reads as oops, look at me! There I go again, haha.
“Well,” you say, swallowing the lump in your throat, “she made some cupcakes—I think they were vanilla, and she put something that looked like jam inside. Really good. I’m sure she’d be happy for you to try one—if you ask,” you smile, adding in the details he wants to hear. For the Spymaster, he’s surprisingly open about his interest in Elain to you. But maybe that’s because you’re always so willing to answer any question you can for him.
“I’m glad,” he says, something glimmering in his hazel eyes. “And there were no silent spots? No abrupt changes?” You return your attention to the book in your hands, fingers running over the bound edges, “she was fine all the way. You never would have guessed everything she’s been through.” He hums, pleased with her progress. It’s a sound of contentment, from the back of his throat that you’re certain rumbles throughout his chest. It’s an effort to keep your attention on the book.
It’s been more than two years since the three of you were tossed into the Cauldron. Feyre and Rhysand are happy, Nesta’s made progress on healing herself and is now alarming in love with Cassian, Elain’s taking large steps in a good direction, too. You remember vividly the time when she would hardly utter a word for days, hardly shift her gaze from a strange spot in the middle-distance, how worried she made you and Nesta. And Feyre, obviously, but things were a little…strange at the time. They always had been.
You spent the first few months struggling to hold a meal down, often being wracked with spasms of anxiety and flushes of hot and cold. There was a time you would black out if you stood up too fast, and now you can hold down three meals a day without needing to run to the nearest latrine provided you don’t eat too quickly. You feel like yourself again, but fresher. You know you aren’t the same as you were, though. Not after the Cauldron, but you had no choice but to adapt. With eternity ahead of you, you couldn’t stand the thought of spending it weakened and frail—hardly capable of standing without feeling dizzy.
Maybe you are a little jealous that Elain’s getting all the attention. She’d always been the centre of Nesta’s attention, and while you were on fairly good terms with your oldest sister throughout your childhood, you were no competition for her sharp mind and sharper tongue. Feyre was the wild one, Elain the pretty one, Nesta the cunning one—then there was you.
What’s your place in your dysfunctional family?
“It’s good she seems to be steadily improving,” Azriel says, breaking you from your inner thoughts. You nod dutifully, agreeing with him. “She smiled for most of it, too,” you add, remembering how pleased she’d been when they came out how she wanted—after numerous attempts. “Though she was covered in flour—her hair was practically white!” You laugh fondly, covering your mouth with your hand.
A faint smile appears on his lips and, for just a moment, you let yourself pretend he’s smiling at the sound of your laugh.
But that’s all you have to report back to him, and even if you’ve pleased him, he’ll be finding an excuse to slip off now that he knows she’s been fine. You’ll admit, it’s difficult to remember she’s your sister when he so clearly would choose her over you. It’s not even a competition.
So you swallow your nerves, tuck your hands behind your back and peer up at him. “Hey, you read right?” You ask, keeping a pleasant smile on your lips—lest he think you’re too eager. He blinks out of whatever thought he was having, clearing his gaze as he looks down at you, then nods. “I’ve been known to pick up a book from time to time,” he answers. He’s in a good mood, it seems.
“Do you have a favourite?” You ask, tipping your head at a slight angle, appearing to look at the books stacked on the shelves. “I feel like I’ve been rereading the same story over and over again and want to try something else.”
“You’re asking me to pick just one?” He replies, quirking his brow. The smile that comes to your mouth isn’t as fake, or as controlled as you would like—it stretches your lips thin, showing the gaps either side of the top row of your teeth.
“Okay, give me a couple to have a nose at. So if one bores me to tears, I can pick up another,” you laugh gently, pulling the book tight to your chest, worried you’re showing too much. Does he know how your days often centre around whether he’ll seek you out? The too-short conversations that often revolve around your sister?
“Does Elain read?” He asks, tentatively, and it’s like a stone to your cheek. You clutch the book tighter to your chest, taking in a slow, quiet breath. “I can ask her? Subtly, of course,” you force a smile, fingers digging into the spine of the book. He shakes his head, “I’ll do it. I’d like to see how she’s doing for myself.”
You swallow the lump in your throat, “to be fair, she might be sick of them for how long she was in here last year. They might be an eyesore by now,” you laugh softly. But instead he frowns disapprovingly, like you shouldn’t be making jokes at her expense. And suddenly that urge appears, the urge to confront him about his behaviour—why he never talks to you for you.
“Azriel…?” You say, the smile slipping from your lips, though your make sure your eyes still sparkle a little, keeping them partially crinkled. But then you bite the inside of your lip, and the rest of the mask fades, leaving you raw, and more than a bit scared. If you overthink it, it’ll never get done.
“Why do you…I don’t feel like you ever…like we ever talk. Us,” you say, then flush at the word—so intimate. Us. “What do you mean?” He asks, standing sturdy before you. A seed of frustration sprouts within, but you push the irritation away. “I just…You’re always asking me about Elain.” His brow narrows a bit, and you want to take the words back.
“What else?”
You look up at him, all beauty and classical grace, and such unearthly, ethereal lines and angles to him you wish you knew how to paint like Feyre. “What do you mean, ‘what else’?” You ask, a little hurt.
“I mean, is there something else you want to talk about?” He asks, gently. Carefully.
My book would be nice. I’d like you to ask how I’m doing today, how I’m feeling, what I want to do.
“Something that doesn’t involve my sister, would be nice,” you laugh, giving him a smile that reads, can you really blame me for not wanting to talk about Elain all the time? He doesn’t smile like you’d hoped, but frowns. “Do you not like her?” He asks instead, “did something happen between you two?”
“No,” you say hurriedly. “No—nothing happened, we’re fine. Right as rain. It’s just…you always ask after her, and I feel like that’s the only reason you approach me.” You swallow, having begin to put the truth out there for him. “You seem fine talking about other things with Feyre and Nesta, but I can’t remember the last time we talked about something that wasn’t my sister, and I… I don’t really…” You trail off, watching him nervously.
His frown only deepens as he takes you in. “I’m asking out of concern for her well-being, you understand that, don’t you?” He asks.
“I know, I know, but…are you?” You reply, managing to reign in your wince at the blunt question. When he only looks at you without response, you push forward. “I mean, you…you like her, don’t you? That’s why you ask all these questions? Why you care more than the others do?” You say, fighting to keep your voice even as the words come out. “And there’s nothing wrong with that,” you quickly amend, “but, you know, it would be nice to talk to you for you. And you for me. And, you know, she does have a…mate, so, I just thought—”
“What did you think?”
You blink at the sharp tone, his eyes colder than before, more sealed off. Still, you square your shoulders, keeping the book tucked tight against your front. “Well, that, maybe, it would be better to try somewhere else? Instead of investing in someone who’s practically already taken?”
“She doesn’t love him.”
“I know she says that, but—”
“But nothing,” he says, brow narrowing. “The mating bond can’t force someone to fall in love. If she doesn’t want him, she doesn’t have to have him.”
Your tongue darts out to wet your lips as you shift on your feet beneath his penetrating gaze. “Feyre and Rhys worked out,” you manage, eyes flitting away from his, focusing on the book in your hands. “And she didn’t love him at first.” The paper’s old and crisp—worn with age. “Then Nesta and Cassian also got together, too,” you add, the pads of your fingers dragging over the pages, “and you saw what Nesta was like. How badly she was struggling. They didn’t look like they were going anywhere but destruction, but—”
“Are you done with the nosey speculation into other people’s relationships, or is that how you’ve found yourself filling your time?”
Again you blink at him, caught off guard by the ice in his tone. “I’m not saying it’s wrong to pursue her, Azriel,” you appease—try to. “I’m just saying maybe you could try looking…elsewhere, you know? Maybe try something with someone else? That won’t end badly?”
“You don’t know it will end badly,” he replies, all former warmth gone, no trace of it in his beautifully designed features. “It will for someone. Even if you and Elain do somehow end up together, what about Lucien? If it were Feyre and Rhys, or Nesta and Cass, would you think it okay for someone to try and separate them? When they were chosen to be together?”
“Bad pairings happen. Rhys’ parents are a fine example.”
“Yes, but they’re rather suited for one another, don’t you think?” You ask, pushing forward, “Elain’s always excelled at social events. She easily settles into the flow of conversation—she knows what to say, and how to act to put people at ease around her. And Lucien does the same. He knows how to draw ties between people where there seem to be none, just like her. He knows how to keep conversation flowing without pushing it, how to keep things at the right pace, just like her.”
“While you…” you pause, and his jaw tightens.
“Go on,” he says icily, “tell me why think I’m undeserving of her.”
“I don’t think its a case of deserving, Azriel,” you say quickly. “But you…well, you try to blend into any corner you can when there are more than three people in the room.”
His brow narrows, “I didn’t realise you’d been keeping tabs on me.”
“Yes, well, you’re the only one I’m interested in, so.” Your voice is soft, bladed, honed. Resigned. You lips press into a thin line as your eyes flicker away from his, too embarrassed to look even in his general vicinity. You had never anticipated laying your heart to bare to be so…scary? Terrifying?
Anti-climactic.
Admitted in such a quiet, understated way. As if he isn’t the first one you’ve ever felt so strongly for. As if he isn’t the first one who’s given you a vague understanding of why some women were so happy to do whatever their husbands told them. Why they were so happy to live in subservience, and why that’s not what it was.
“You think you’re deserving of me?” He asks, coldly. Shame and embarrassment heat your features, but you manage to shoot back, “do you think you’re deserving of her?” You cross your arms over your chest, trying to prevent yourself from being intimidated by his height, and muscle, and beauty, and overall damned attractiveness that makes you weak in the knees.
His upper lip twitches in a repressed snarl, anxiety spiking in your chest. “Answer my question,” he says, softly, an edge to his voice. You swallow, “answer mine.” You’ve never demanded something from someone before, but it’s out there now, and it feels surprisingly good to insist on something for yourself.
He regards you silently, and it takes a remarkable strength to stand still beneath his icy gaze—knowing that he’s judging what he’s seeing. Weighing if you’re worth his answer.
“I think I gave a hint of my interest for her,” he says, eyes glittering with something cold that you’re unaccustomed to have turned on yourself. “And she reciprocated with her own signs.” He stares you down, unyielding, and powerful, and you want to run and hide. “What about you?”
You purse your lips to keep them from trembling as heat crawls beneath your skin with humiliation. But—no. Get over it. Make it through. Survive something else. “I think I’m tired, and hurt from knowing that you only talk to me because you want to know how my sister is doing,” you confess, voice wobbling. “I think it’s cruel to continue asking after her when I so obviously answer every question you have just so you might pay me a little more attention.”
There’s no bite to your words, and they come out softer and weaker than you had expected. You feel tired, and drained. Eyelids heavy and heart rate spiking every other beat, numerous crescent shaped indentations on the heel of your palms.
“Maybe you’d be better off turning your affections somewhere they’d be appreciated,” he says, icily. Your heart aches, and it takes a few humiliating moments for you to gather yourself enough that you won’t burst into tears when you again find your voice. “That’s all you have to say?” You manage, fingers trembling behind your back.
“Maybe if you were even half the female she is, I’d be tempted to show a little interest,” he snarls softly, eyes glittering with cold rage.
It feels like a smack to the face, a punch to your stomach. Your eyes go wide, then blur, hot pressure building steadily. You dig your nails into the binding of your book, and move to walk past him—at least preserve what little dignity is still intact by refusing to let him see you cry. He already barely sees you as a woman, you won’t win any points with your blubbering. He wants a female, not a girl.
But he seems to realise what he’s said and turns, gripping your upper arm to keep you from leaving. You allow him to stop you, if only because demanding he let you go would show your tears. “I didn’t mean that,” he says quietly, and you can hear the pity in his voice. “I spoke in anger, I did not mean to upset—”
“Get those hands off me,” you snarl, turning on him with defensive ire blazing in your pupils. Rage fresh from the forges.
He recoils as if you burned him. Retreats a step.
“Not nice, is it? Targeting someone’s insecurity—rubbing salt into an open wound?” You snap, blinking away the tears and pulling your arm back to yourself. “Don’t come asking me for updates on Elain again. I don’t want to talk to you if your only interest is in getting between her legs.”
He’s silent for a moment, and you debate just running from the library—you can feel the storm in him brewing, and you’re not sure you’re ready for him. But he doesn’t wait for you to decide, because the storm breaks right then and there. “At least she has someone interested in getting her into bed,” he says softly, hazel piercing into you. “Can you say the same?”
Mortification flushes your skin, mouth parting in humiliation. “I—…This is inappropriate,” you hiss to hide your burning shame. Because no, it’s always been Elain and Nesta to be pursued. His eyes gleam, reading your thoughts clear as day in your expression. “Thought not.”
Pain twists viciously across your chest, heart strings being plucked within an inch of snapping—pulled taught around your throat. “If I’ve never taken a man to bed, it is not because I am unwanted. Rather that I would not waste my self nor my time on someone I was not sure about. That I did not want with everything I have,” you whisper hoarsely—the final layer stripped bare for him to slice and dissect.
But then he steps forward, and without thinking, you yield a step. He’s not perturbed, and takes another. “You admit you have no experience in bed, yet think you could handle me?” He snarls softly, wings flaring ever so slightly at his back, shadows thickening. “I don’t think it’s a matter of handling you, Azriel.” His name is a little more than a whisper from your mouth. One he tracks eagerly.
“No?” He asks, stepping forward again, slowly herding you. “Then what?” You swallow, trying to stand your ground, but the sense of him is so overpowering, he threatens to obliterate every ounce of your own self. “I think it would be a matter of learning. And if you think I’m unprepared, then Elain is definitely no better off, so that clearly isn’t your issue.”
“At least she’s shared the bed of a man before, at least she would know what to do.” You don’t correct him that you have, in fact, shared a bed with a male before. A few in fact, by this point. Nesta’s the bad influence. He steps forward again, and he’s towering over you, hazel glittering between his shadows. “At least she wouldn’t lose her head over the slightest touch.”
And then his hands have landed softly on your hips, and your head is silent. Only his touch on your body, his warmth on your skin, seeping into your clothes. Does he find your shape pleasing? Is he feeling this mind-numbing shock? The tingling at his fingertips where they’re pressing into you?
For a too-long moment you just stare at him, thoughts eddying about without a destination, floating throughout your conscious.
“Still in there?” He taunts quietly, pushing you back, turning you gently as he feels the heat radiating from your skin, the stiffness to your body beneath his touch. It’s only when a hard, wooden shelf digs into the base of your spine that you realise he’s pushed you against the case. You open your mouth—to say what, you don’t know. He beats you to it either way. “You want to prove you haven’t already lost your mind?” He says softly, voice like a lover’s touch. You can do nothing but stare at him, panting softly, completely at his mercy. “Tell me to stop, or I’ll keep going. Say no, and it finishes,” he murmurs, keeping you pressed tight between his hips and the book case. “But I think you’ve already lost.”
You blink up at him, hardly a thought behind your eyes.
In the back of your mind, you’re struggling frantically to decode his words, translate them into something that makes sense. And then his challenge clicks, and you take a sudden, deep breath. You need to tell him to stop, to show him you’re still in control of yourself—that you haven’t lost your head over the slightest touch.
But then his mouth latches over yours, tongue prying your lips apart, and your efforts of rebellion are washed away. You go all warm, and soft, and pliable in his hands, melting like butter as you coat him. His piercing hazel eyes lock with yours as his mouth slants, one hand rising to the curve of your spine, pulling you against his front.
How are you supposed to stand against him when he annihilates everything that you are with the softest brush of his fingers—fingers that are now tracing up the path of your spine, reaching that final notch as they tangle with delicious pressure in your hair. His gaze cuts into you as his tongue drags across your own, flicking at the roof of your mouth.
He’s utterly unruffled, and you feel like you’re on the verge of bursting into flame right there, setting him ablaze in the process.
But then you’re again subverting his expectations, your hands flying over his shoulders as you tilt your head to allow him deeper. The only sign of surprise he allows is a blink of his eyes, but you’re already lifting onto your tiptoes—the swell of your breasts dragging over his chest in a way you must’ve learned males like. But where would you have learned?
Your arms tighten, then your hips are pressing against him, and—you’re fighting back, he realises. And for the first time in a long, long time, he feels excitement flare deep inside him as you stride to meet him. No matter that you aren’t Elain: he’s hungry, and you can make your own decisions. If you want him to stop, you need only say the word, and he’ll be off you. But if you don’t…well, he’s not going to be the one who backs out first.
He has a damn point to prove—that you have no idea what you’re getting into with him.

This One's For You
A Soul Eater fanfic. Read on: AO3 | FFn
Seventh in my series of 31 prompt-based one-shots. Prompts from this list.
AND... Monthly OTP prompt fills from this list for Spirit and Stein, because I cannot stop writing about them. I’m happy to hear recommendations each month for which prompt to write next.
A/N: This started with a tiny, vague mental image I've been holding for months that I needed to express, and a plot formed around it. My hope was for a short fluffy something, but, Stein decided otherwise... Yeahhh the characters took complete control of this one. I had next to nothing to do with this until near the end when...a song that is tied to these two for me decided to jump into the story too. And I don't write songfic, haha. Aaahhhhh this one might be out of character, I'm not sure. They're teenagers. Spirit is 16 which would make Stein 13, in my headcanon. I also headcanon that Spirit played electric guitar as a teenager then gave it up. There's an Easter Egg for another of my fics in this which gets revealed in the end notes if you don't catch it yourself. And of course, don't read the end notes cuz spoilers. Oh, there's one line directly implying something NSFW that I'll leave up to interpretation. But just a warning that it exists, I guess. That's why the "teen" rating. And, it doesn't get mentioned in the story, but I'm compelled to inform everyone that Spirit's hair is in a ponytail. Because. Yeah. Okay, anyway. 7. Bells (from the December list) 4. Peace (for April, from the monthly OTP list)
This One's For You
Spirit was half-reclined on his bed when Stein walked into their shared bedroom. Half, because it was nearly impossible to play his guitar properly if he lay flat the way he truly felt like doing. Instead, he had most of both of their pillows shoved up behind his back and up under his elbow so he could lean his head and shoulders against the wall with the guitar nearly flat across his lap, though his legs were crossed to help elevate the neck of the instrument.
He plucked two strings together in harmony, listened to the sound through the amplifier and the way it decayed with the delay setting he'd put on, and then plucked another two in the progression.
The full light of the sunset was blocked from entering the windows by the thick of the trees outside, but the room was still beginning to turn pink from the glow that couldn't ever be fully shut out, and golden pinpricks of light were hitting the wall above Spirit's head where they broke through the foliage.
Spirit glanced up at his partner still standing in the open doorway as he plucked another chord. He took in the tense posture, the stiff set of Stein's jaw. Watched his bright, ever-calculating eyes study his position on the bed before Stein finally reached behind him to push the door closed. The meister's gaze shifted to the window, blinds closed on Stein's half but raised on Spirit's.
Stein crossed the room briskly, pulled the cord to close the rest of the blinds to perhaps five inches—a height that would still allow enough light in as long as the sun was up, but that would block the view of the interior to any passersby.
Stein's hands were empty, and except for the way he was holding himself Spirit couldn't see anything amiss about him to provide evidence as to the meister's seeming sour mood. He shifted up slightly on the pillows and pulled the body of the electric guitar nearer to his stomach as he observed his younger partner.
He plucked another two strings, and Stein turned from where he'd paused at the window.
"Writing another song for some girl?"
There was a bite to his tone that Spirit recognized wasn't truly meant for him. Whatever had upset his meister, he was apparently going to take it out on him rather than talk about it. Which wasn't really a surprise.
Spirit lightly shook his head. "No. Just playing around."
He picked a simple pattern across three strings, and Stein's brow furrowed.
"Can you turn off the delay?"
Spirit couldn't help but smile as he shifted again, leaned forward to flip the switch on the amp at the foot of the bed, and then attempted to get comfortable again.
When he looked back at Stein, the meister's brow had furrowed. It was clear to Spirit that he was looking for a fight, but the weapon was in no mood to give him one. But the alternative, experience had taught Spirit, was that if he didn't provide something then Stein would simply leave and manage his frustrations elsewhere, whatever they were.
Experience had also taught Spirit that more often than not, that didn't end well for either of them.
"Come here."
"What?"
The furrow in Stein's brow deepened and he raised his head just so, so that the overhead light reflected off his glasses and hid his eyes. His jaw had tensed further, and a frown was just visible at the corners of his mouth.
"Come here," Spirit repeated just as gently.
He shifted further upright on the bed, laying the guitar across his lap for a moment to tug up his jeans as he uncrossed his legs and pulled his collared t-shirt back into place, it having become a bit twisted in his relaxation.
Stein looked uncertain, but after a moment he moved forward and crawled up onto the bed to sit next to the weapon. He pressed his back against the wall as he shifted nearer, which Spirit found telling.
He lifted the guitar into Stein's lap.
"Let me show you."
"What? No. I've told you, I don't need to try it to understand how it—"
He cut himself off abruptly as Spirit moved right next to him and set his arms around him, made more difficult by the posture Stein had chosen; Spirit had to wiggle his chest between Stein's back and the wall to get even remotely near enough to aid in the holding of the guitar.
The meister had gone tense and yet pliant as Spirit shifted the guitar to an appropriate angle, took hold of Stein's left hand as his own right hand muted the strings.
"I'll just show you some really basic chords. Here. Third finger, third fret, first string. If you only strum the first four..." Spirit held Stein's finger to the string and then lightly strummed. The processed sound came through the amp, sounding a bit strange pointed away from them and too soft to truly ring through the space. "That's a simple G-chord."
Spirit could feel Stein's heart pounding through his back, no doubt from anxiety at the unexpected contact. But he'd not pulled away. Spirit had learned that sometimes, despite the meister's seeming aversion to touch, it wasn't completely unwelcome. It was simply that he didn't really understand what he wanted.
Stein had no response, visible or otherwise, to the chord that resulted from Spirit's holding his finger to the string.
"Give it a try," Spirit encouraged, lifting Stein's right hand so he could strum the chord.
After a moment, the meister swallowed and blinked into focus. His thumb moved inelegantly over the strings, and the sound bled through the amp.
Spirit let go of his left hand, and Stein's instantly released the string. The remaining echo became discordant.
"You have to hold onto it. Here, this is an easy C. Just four strings again."
He manipulated Stein's fingers into the shape, and this time the younger boy held on when Spirit let go. Spirit strummed the chord, and then moved his hand out of the way. After a moment, Stein's tentatively came up to copy the action.
"And, ah... An E-minor, that's the easiest. First and second fingers, fifth and fourth strings, second fret."
He waited, and Stein slowly copied the instructions to hold the strings down. His brow had furrowed again, and Spirit could feel his heart rate starting to relax.
"There, see? You can play a lot of songs with just three chords. And a capo, haha."
When the minor chord had finished ringing from the amp, Stein carefully slid the guitar toward Spirit.
"You play something."
Spirit's smile tightened in disappointment. "You don't want to give it a try?"
Stein shook his head. But, Spirit noted, whatever frustration the meister had been trying to bury when he entered the room was gone from the bright, green eyes. In its place was a different sort of anxiety that Spirit didn't fully understand, but recognized was something Stein only allowed him to see.
Spirit took the guitar and carefully shifted back into his spot against the pillows. He kept his surprise hidden when Stein followed, kneeling to face him as Spirit got comfortable again and positioned the guitar.
He was about to ask if Stein had any requests, but the meister preempted him.
"Not something you've written for some girl."
Spirit huffed quietly. It was always 'some girl' with the younger teen. He had teased before that Stein would understand soon enough, and his partner had teased right back that his hormones were overactive and that he could probably take something to treat that.
It had been a very awkward end to the conversation when Spirit quipped that he had his own treatment, and Stein hadn't immediately processed the meaning. He'd gotten to it without Spirit spelling it out, but the meister had definitely behaved differently toward him since then, Spirit suddenly realized. He supposed Stein really was still just too young for that sort of thing.
"Why not?" he couldn't help but ask.
Some of the anger rose again behind Stein's eyes. "Because they're not important."
"I work hard on those—"
"You're usually on to the next girl in less than a month. So the songs can't really mean that much."
Spirit's lips had parted in surprise, and he held the annoyed gaze of his meister. There was more Stein wanted to say, he could tell. Everything in his posture and eyes and the renewed set of his jaw spoke of frustration.
Spirit was disappointed that his attempts at soothing his partner had backfired, but it was momentarily forgotten as irritation mingled with the guilt Stein's words had stirred deep in his soul.
"Do you even remember them?"
The accusation cut even harder, and Spirit wondered if Stein meant the songs or the girls. His brow furrowed in defiance even as he realized that for both, and for most, the answer was no.
"How can you care so little about something?"
It would be an insult to think Stein meant the songs with that question. Not that it was impossible, but, based on the absolute ice that was touching the meister's voice, Spirit knew otherwise.
It wasn't that he didn't care... It was that they just weren't really looking for a relationship. Neither him, nor the girls he flirted with. It was something mutually understood that didn't even need to be spoken. They were just teenagers having a good time, after all. It's what teenagers do. Stein was just too young to understand.
He took a long, slow breath and closed his eyes as he realized he'd been frowning so hard that his forehead hurt. It wasn't Stein's fault. He was only seeing things in the way he knew how. He would understand someday. And then, Spirit could tease Stein about his girlfriends and remind him about how he had been so sure it was a waste of time. It would be something they could laugh about together.
His mood resolved, he sighed and opened his eyes to reply. But then his lips parted again when he saw Stein.
The meister had dug his fingers into Spirit's blankets and had his eyes tightly closed, head downcast as he scowled at whatever was in his mind. Spirit bit his lip, and then turned the guitar volume down before reaching out to gently touch Stein's shoulder.
"Hey..."
Stein didn't pull away, but Spirit felt rather than saw the sudden hitch in Stein's breath at the contact.
"It's not..." he began softly, unsure what had Stein suddenly so upset. "It's not that I don't care. I do. But they only care so much, too. They care the same amount that I do. It's just...not anything serious."
Stein looked up. His eyes were bright with unshed tears, and Spirit's stomach swirled in unease. Whatever anxiety Stein had come back to their room with that Spirit had been trying to help him forget, he'd clearly made much worse. And he wasn't sure what to do now that Stein had turned his stress fully against him.
"Why are you okay with it?" Stein finally hissed on a single breath, immediately clamping his jaw closed again as he struggled to regain control of his emotions.
Spirit puzzled over the question. He thought he'd just answered that. It was mutually understood between he and anyone he pursued that it was just casual.
"I thought..."
Spirit focused on Stein's face again.
"I thought you were better than that."
Spirit frowned. Stein wasn't anyone to suddenly come in and be his moral judge. Not with the things he did, the worse things he imagined doing...
It must have shown on Spirit's face, because Stein suddenly scoffed and swung his legs over the side of the bed. Spirit was quick however, not even watching the fall of the guitar as he reached up and gripped the boy's arms, halting his escape before he'd even stood up.
"Stein!" he said. The meister tensed under his hold.
He wanted to be angry. He wanted to tell Stein that it was none of his business what he did with any girls. But he knew that couldn't really be what was bothering his young friend, and getting to the bottom of that was far more important. He slowly let out a breath, let his fire cool again.
"Stein. It's okay, I promise you. They're okay with it. There's nothing wrong with any of it..."
Stein tensed further, and Spirit frowned quizzically.
"Why do you care, anyway?"
The only reply was silence.
Spirit watched the taut muscles of his partner's neck, watched as he barely breathed under the weapon's hold. A golden-pink light from the window was reflecting off the front of Spirit's guitar, heralding the sun's departure.
The moments passed, and Spirit started slowly turning his thumbs in circles against the tight muscles of Stein's shoulders.
"Just play your guitar, Spirit," Stein said hoarsely.
Anger forgotten, Spirit's chest ached as he realized Stein had begun crying. What was truly upsetting his partner? Was it something he had done?
"Only if you stay."
It was a feeble plea, as Spirit knew Stein didn't really care for his guitar playing one way or another. And apparently, given his opinion on Spirit's usual endeavors with it, he probably disliked it entirely.
Silence again. Spirit watched the light on the windowsill slowly change to amber, dust floating through its beams.
"Then let go of me."
Spirit let go, banking on Stein keeping his word, and grabbed up the guitar from where it had fallen on the bed.
"Come back here."
Spirit watched as Stein reached up and took off his glasses, wiped his face with his sleeve, and then slowly turned back around on the bed and tucked his feet under him. His expression was as flat as he could make it, given the circumstances, but in his eyes Spirit still saw that anxiety that only he was permitted to see.
"Just... Relax," Spirit said, even as he couldn't help but frown.
The conversation had unnerved him, and as he continued unnecessarily shifting around for comfort, he couldn't think of a single thing to play.
He heard Stein sniff, and when he glanced up the meister was wearing a rarely-seen expression of distress that he rapidly hid away again behind the impassivity he preferred to show the world.
Spirit considered the issue as he tried to think of something to play: why would Stein care about his dates? It wasn't like he ever brought them back to their place. They were never in Stein's way...
Spirit's eyes widened as he slowly sucked in a breath.
Was that the problem?
He always came back at night—most nights. But with as much time as he spent taking girls out, he barely even did his homework lately. He supposed that outside of class and their extracurricular assignments, he really...hadn't been spending much time with Stein.
Had Stein been surprised to find him at home that evening?
A different guilt had Spirit's stomach turning with that revelation. He leaned back on the pillows and after adjusting the volume set his fingers to the guitar strings, decisively shaping a chord. And then as an afterthought, he stretched one foot toward the amp and pushed the corner of it so it turned on its dolly and wasn't facing entirely away from them.
Stein was watching him, his glasses folded in one hand but face as still as stone. Spirit began plucking out a practiced melody, suddenly self conscious about singing, and hoped it could at least be a beginning to an apology he realized now was necessary. Part of him still wanted to argue that Stein would be no different in a few years, but that didn't absolve him of the hurt he had apparently caused in the present.
He shifted his attention to the song, picking out each note with precision as he tried to work up the courage to sing. He had never been nervous around Stein with this sort of thing before, but the sudden realization that his every action of late was being watched and judged had him uncertain how his partner would respond.
"Are you making this up?" Stein asked suddenly.
"What? No," Spirit said, brow furrowing.
"I haven't heard it before."
Spirit sighed.
"I don't play this one in front of you."
Spirit watched as familiar curiosity began to rise in Stein's eyes despite the anxiety and the hurt, and he shifted back again as he focused on adding more complexity to his playing, strumming the chords before picking out the melodic lines.
Stein shifted too, reaching back to turn the amplifier the rest of the way to face the bed and then set his glasses on top of it.
"This one is different."
Spirit didn't look up, intent now on getting the song exactly right.
"This one is more interesting."
Spirit pursed his lips as a mixture of pride and affection started silencing the disquiet in his head.
"Ah... I hope so. I've been working on it for months."
He looked up and paused in the middle of the progression, letting a suspension chord ring out.
Stein was looking at him in yet another way Spirit had never been able to make sense of despite the years he'd had to try to understand. He had looked at him that way the very first day they'd met, and sometimes would even stop mid-conversation to just stare at him, usually after something Spirit had said; it was something deeper than curiosity, but seeming just as without explanation to even the meister as it was to his weapon. For awhile it had been unnerving, but Spirit knew at least there was no ill intent behind it. And whatever it meant, it was yet another expression that Stein reserved only for him.
Now, his attention was pulled away from Stein's wide, searching eyes to the way the rosy-orange beams of the sunset were making the edges of his hair seem to glow around his face. Spirit reached forward and Stein's focus instantly shifted, following the motion of his hand, but he didn't shy away when Spirit feathered Stein's hair between his fingers.
The light brought shining life into the thin strands of silver, and they sparkled almost translucent in the golden rays. The contrast of this radiance—all drawing his gaze back to Stein's verdant eyes staring back at him—with the dull overall appearance the meister seemed to want to effect had Spirit smiling.
For as much as Stein was an enigma, Spirit knew him better than the facade he showed the world.
A question had formed in Stein's eyes as to what suddenly had the weapon's so soft, but he didn't voice it. He only stared back as Spirit smoothed down the hair he'd disturbed and then returned his hand to the guitar.
"This one's for you."
"...What?"
"It's not perfect yet... I'd wanted it to be a surprise. But..."
Spirit started the song over, felt his fingers shake suddenly as he became more aware of his audience. His voice was no steadier than his hands as he began singing to the softly strummed chords.
He didn't glance up as he felt Stein shifting, heard a pair of shoes fall to the floor, and he knew without looking that the younger teen had taken up position on his knees with his feet tucked under him, hands likely fidgeting with the seams of his pants.
"'And I think we're chosen, like our fates are woven...'"
Spirit grew no less nervous as he sang through the lyrics, but Stein had asked him to play. And he owed him this he supposed, if his guess about his meister's current melancholy was correct. Finished or unfinished, he shouldn't ever leave Stein in doubt of his place in his life.
He reached the end of a chorus and paused in playing again, finally looking up. Then, his face fell.
Stein's expression was tense, confused. His brow was furrowed and his eyes unfocused where they were directed at Spirit's left hand on the strings, and his fingers were gripping tightly into the blankets again.
"You...don't like it?" Spirit asked quietly, amazed the words made it past his lips as his heart began to sink.
Stein's eyes, suddenly bright with something Spirit couldn't identify, snapped up to his. When his lips parted to speak, they trembled.
"I do."
Bewildered now, Spirit's heart ached in the fear that he'd somehow made everything worse.
"Come here," he said, almost a plea as he shifted on the pillows again and moved the guitar to lean more against his stomach.
Stein hesitated, but then awkwardly moved not to sit beside him, but to lie partially across Spirit's crossed legs with his head touching the body of the guitar. Spirit's brow rose, but Stein met his eyes in quick explanation.
"I want to feel it."
Spirit considered a moment, the angle making it impossible for him not to touch Stein's hair while playing at the least. But given the meister's chosen posture, he supposed that didn't matter.
He also decided not to mention that Stein would feel the vibrations far better by being next to the amp, and once he'd found an acceptable angle for his right arm, he strummed a chord.
Stein shifted slightly, raising his knees and gripping his hands over his middle. But his eyes stayed locked onto Spirit's. Spirit strummed another chord, and then picked out some of the melody of the song as he watched Stein curiously.
He realized all of a sudden that his partner's expression had changed. Stein was looking at him in that private way again, but deeper in his eyes behind that mysterious look was...hope.
Hope for what?
Spirit felt another pang of guilt, and he glanced at his left hand to cover the nerves he suddenly felt.
"I'm, ah... I'm going to cancel my date tomorrow night," he said. He plucked out more of the melody. "If you're not busy... We should do something."
Against his thigh, he could just feel Stein's heart rate increase through his back.
He looked down again, his own heart pounding as he met Stein's eyes. An instinctive yearning joined the race of blood in his veins, and before he could think about it, he was tentatively curling his soul wavelength along the edges of Stein's.
Stein's brow rose, and Spirit's stomach turned nervously as he saw hesitation in his meister's eyes. Since when had Stein ever been uncertain about resonance? But it faded quickly, and as Stein's soul slowly entwined with his he watched a soundless sigh escape his partner's lips.
Somehow resonating still gave no clarity to the look in Stein's eyes, and there was something in his soul that he was keeping guarded. But there was also such a great relief in the connection that Spirit felt his own anxiety begin to calm in time with Stein's.
Outside the window, the sun dipped below the lowest branches of the trees and sent brighter beams of light piercing the room, illuminating Stein's face and Spirit's hands and reflecting brightly off the guitar. Stein closed his eyes against the invasion and shifted to be more comfortable on Spirit's leg, the side of his head still leaned against the instrument.
Spirit cleared his throat as he shifted his hand up the neck of the guitar and shaped the next chord, readying to sing the song's chorus again. Stein's soul was relaxing into his, and Spirit's own slowly calmed in response. He wished he could convince Stein to let go of whatever it was that still had his heart pounding, but he was grateful for the trust he'd been given; if Stein wanted him to know, he would tell him eventually.
He strummed the chord. He watched Stein's expression soften with the sound, the lines of tension in his forehead ease. Their resonance matched effortlessly to the frequency, and Spirit strummed the chord again.
He sighed and reached down to Stein's chest, and the meister's eyes opened briefly when Spirit separated his hands and wove their fingers together.
Spirit sang, and soon his voice was the only audible sound as the last echoes from the amplifier died in the small room.
The tension on Stein's face continued to ease. He turned slightly to press his forehead into the now-silent guitar, but it didn't block the light and he kept his eyes closed.
Stein's wavelength was still gradually relaxing, and Spirit wrapped his around the younger teen's and let the warmth and safety in the sound take him. He let go the If nothing else, he hoped Stein felt the same assurance that he did—that there was no greater sanctuary for his soul than in harmony with his partner.
Spirit released Stein's hand to strum another chord, letting his fingers brush silver hair after following their natural path across the strings. When he reached for Stein's hand again the meister's was already blindly seeking his, and when the smaller fingers folded between his they held on tight.
Spirit continued to sing. And as the sun finished its descent, he watched the light slowly fade from Stein's face.
A/N: I imagine Spirit wrote something far more interesting, musically, but the lyrics I couldn't help but reference are from this song which I'm obsessed with because of this incredible art. So I selfishly put those in. I also have no skill whatsoever in writing lyrics and I needed lyrics, so, why not pull from my obsession...lol. Those lines also hit the right vibe as in...the song Spirit wrote is about them, their relationship. Just kinda...two hard-hitting lines to get the point across. But no, Spirit wrote something far more interesting. Pretend as much or as little of that song is part of this as you want, I didn't think much past those two lines. Even though that song is them to me, it's not them as teenagers so yeah. And if anyone even remembers, this song he wrote for Stein here is fact the song he played in Cadenza. I cannot help myself but to reveal... The tragedy here is that Spirit only partially-understood Stein's distress. And Stein ain't gonna tell him. Augh. Angst. (I'll tell if asked.) Okay, anyway. Thanks for reading!

1899 Episode 8
Oh. My. God!!! What a ride! There’s a lot to unpack here so I’ve just included the natural progression of my thoughts as I was watching the episode:
1. I was right about the passageway and ship representing the neural pathways and the brain, respectively! Love the symbology.
2. Who do we trust when we don’t know what’s real or not? It would be more of a twist if Maura is the Creator and it would explain Daniel’s behaviour as well as Henry’s. Like, if this was Henry’s experiment, he wouldn’t have allowed Daniel and Elliot to interfere so much. So perhaps he doesn’t have as much control as we think. Also, the “wake up” is in her voice...
3. The speech about seekers vs. avoiders... *chef’s kiss*. I can always trust the creators of this show with their epic monologues. And again, a really strong parallel to The Matrix.
4. So the white injection makes you remember, and black makes you forget.
5. Omg her and her brother being the villains and not the father is a plot twist! And I guess the father is right, Daniel does value Maura more than Elliot. Explains why his memory just includes the two of them, while her memory is basically a reflection of her guilt over what she did to Elliot. And the grave is there to signify he’s actually dead (I think? From my understanding, he’s only being kept alive through the simulation but he’d be brain dead in reality).
6. Loved the space twist! The dichotomy between the ocean and space is an interesting one so I like seeing it explored in this way. Although I wonder, is this reality? How do we know? 👀
Assuming it is real, I guess I have my answer now. This is a futuristic world that is not actually set in 1899. I initially didn’t expect the show to go in this direction (I thought it would actually be set in the 1800s based on the summary), but I did anticipate a modern twist when I saw the more recent trailer and the opening. And I love sci-fi so this is great!
7. I screamed when I saw Krester. So glad he’s real! I guess the real characters are the ones who made it onto the promo posters, which makes sense haha.
Henry, Daniel, and Elliot weren’t in the room though, so are they still stuck in the simulation (and they’re in a different room, which I guess could be the case for the rest of the passengers) or were they never even there...?
Also, going back to Henry mentioning muscle memory, I wonder if the interactions we saw between the characters are based off their dynamics in reality. Like, the characters that ended up gravitating towards one another actually shared that connection in real life, and it’s these triggers that continue to drive them together no matter how many times their memories are erased.
In any case, I wanna know how much of their backstories are true. I guess the root of their traumas could be real while the details are fictional, which was the case for Maura.
8. It appears the only way to leave the simulation is to be the one to turn the key, so does that mean only one person can leave at a time?
Moreover, it looked like Daniel deleted the simulation this time instead of just shutting it down, so did that affect the characters that were still aboard the ship? Or is it just that the Kerberos will not be sitting around in the ship graveyard like all the other simulations?
9. Daniel made it sound like Ciaran is evil, but he sounded welcoming in his message (plus Henry described him as an avoider, not a seeker), so I’m really interested in finding out what their relationship is really like.
I also really wanna know how Maura feels about Eyk. I don’t know if I misread the romantic vibes between them, but she always reacted more intensely when it came to him. So maybe Daniel is hiding the truth about some aspects of their relationship after all.
10. All in all, I’m excited to see where the show will go and to learn more about this universe. Will there be a next simulation and if so, will we get to see the characters in a different time period? Or will they all be woken up and the rest of the story will take place in 2099?
11. The main philosophical question of this series appears to be “what is reality?” in contrast to Dark’s “do we have free will?”.
12. Lastly, I just wanted to point out that I really appreciated the makeup and styling in this show. The third class characters actually looked dirty given their lack of access to regular baths, and once shit went down, the richer characters also looked like a mess. I hate when characters look perfect when they’re supposed to be in a survival situation lol.

Two days later, in Shu’s room…
Tsumugi: …That’s good for now.
Sora: HaHa~! Thanks for working so hard, Senpai! Although, Sora was only able to help a little.
Tsumugi: Not at all. It’s because of Sora-kun’s help I was able to make so much progress, really.
Shu: Hm? Have you guys finished?
Tsumugi: Yep. Thank you very much. You basically saved the day, Shu-kun~!
Sora: Even though we only just recently decided on the performance, we won’t have to stand onstage in regular clothes~!
Tsumugi: That’s right. Shu-kun graciously provided us with some sample outfits, which I’ve been able to modify into proper costumes.
Shu: I’m glad it proved useful. By the way, how’s the boy doing?
Tsumugi: Natsume-kun has been recuperating. I’d say he’ll probably be able to leave his bed sometime today.
Shu: I’m glad to hear that. I’ll have to drop by and see him for myself later.
Sora: HiHi~! I think that would make Shisho~ very happy! ☆
Shu: By the way, Chibisuke, how are things on your end? Have you come up with any good magic for the boy?
Sora: Ugh… Not yet~. It’s really hard! Senpai is helping Sora, but Sora still doesn’t know what to do…
Tsumugi: Well, that’s the thing. When it comes to matters of scorn and trauma, they are not so simple to overcome, don’t you think?
Even though it may not be to such an extent in this case, it’s still pretty difficult to change negative feelings into good ones.
But that’s why I’m puzzling over this with you, I have no idea what we should do.
Shu: Hmm. Well, everyone has their reasons to dislike something, big or small.
Tsumugi: Yeah, that’s true~, and Natsume-kun is an indoors person too, so I doubt he’s ever been amicable with summer to begin with.
And if he can’t swim on top of that, then it makes sense why he’d shun the summer season…
Shu: …Hmm. Why don’t you ask Kanata for his perspective?
Sora: Sea-oni~san? How come?
Shu: Because Kanata can’t swim either. Yet despite that, he takes to water without shying away from it.
Despite having the same situation, Kanata and the boy are both on opposite extremes. In this per contra, I must muse to myself if there’s some world only Kanata can understand.
Sora: A world that Sea-oni~san adores…
Tsumugi: ……
…! Shu-kun, Sora-kun! I may have come up with an enchanting magic that Natsume-kun would like.
Sora: Eh, really!?
Tsumugi: Yeah. Shu-kun, didn’t you say your performance would be utilizing projection mapping?
Shu: Hm? Yes, that’s right.
As it will be onboard a ship, there are inevitably restrictions regarding stage shape and set.
Thus, we hope to realize the coalescence of sound, video, dance, and outfit by utilizing projection mapping. What about it?
Tsumugi: Would you allow us to use it too?

Roswell New Mexico - Season 4 Episode 1
And we’re back! For one last season. And of course we’ve done a time jump so everything is vaguely confusing! Haha
I feel like the only one I’m really annoyed with is the Isobel/Anatsa jump because they’re just not established enough for them to be saying “I love you” yet. I mean I know Anatsa and Isobel are going to get sacrificed for Kybel at some point before this season/series ends so I get that they just have to get it in there while they can but still...they’re cute and all but I still can’t invest because they don’t put the time and the work into it.
It’s all there just for the Kyle angst. Poor Kyle, man. He’s just so miserable. He’d rather be hanging out with Jones’s corpse than watching Isobel be happy with Anatsa because he’s not gonna screw them up because he wants her to be happy but boy is he sad about it all. Give this man some happiness. He deserves it. Also I just don’t want him moping at fucking Deep Sky all season and being away from everyone else.
Speaking of being away from everyone else, is there some rule that says that Alex is not allowed to have scenes with other people? Because it annoyed the hell out of me last season and it’s annoying the hell out of me already this season too.
That said, I was at least very happy that everyone was acknowledging that Michael and Alex are a couple. Cause that drove me crazy last season too. I’m happy they’re moving in together even if it got a little angsty. But Alex making it clear that he can’t live without Michael is nice to hear some more. If only Michael would really hear it this time.
I do really like the Michael and Dallas friendship going on. Their similar backgrounds allow them to connect in ways that he can’t with Max. So that’s nice. And in general, I like how Dallas is fitting in with the group, especially as Heath seems to have completely disappeared. I mean...fine cause there were a few too many characters last season but it is weird that he didn’t even get a mention.
Dallas and Maria is...interesting. I mean it would be really neat and tidy if they ended up with Echo, Malex, Kybel and Dallas and Maria. Then everyone gets an alien. But Gregory is still clearly in the picture, albeit off screen for the moment. So that’s a whole thing. Then again, I’d rather see the progression of a relationship from chess buddies who offer the other umbrellas to actually being together. So...you know, if they go in that direction, cool. I’m here for it. Dallas is like...Spiritual Michael, which kind of works for Maria.
Maria’s cure maybe making her lose her powers is a whole thing I guess too. But I guess if we can be spared of any half baked vision plots that go nowhere, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Poor Max trying to propose. I mean, I get Liz waiting for the other shoe to drop but as long as it’s not dropping on their relationship, why not just get married before the next alien disaster threatens to destroy you. Why wait for a safe time. There’s never gonna be one girl. If they get married by the end of the season, can Michael or Alex catch the bouquet or something. Haha. Just as a nod.
Love seeing Jenna back. I enjoy her and Max’s friendship.
I missed Rosa. Not even a mention of her either. Is she just not in this season at all? I haven’t paid enough attention to filming things. I at least want an update at some point.
As for the actual plot, I am SHOCKED they actually remembered that the Alighting is a thing. I really thought they just forgot all about that. So I’m happy that they’re going to tie things back together. I hope it’s actually interesting. I still think it might apply to Michael though. Maybe? I don’t know.
We didn’t get much of the new triad’s personalities, so I hope they can at least be fun.
Side Note: I’m still annoyed that Deep Sky literally has no other employees besides Eduardo and Kyle and Alex. Anyway...I still just hate Deep Sky in general and the fact that it still makes no sense.
Ah...feels good to rant about this show again.

SURVIVAL KIT EVENT (heads up my explanation is a bit long) I sent this earlier but idk if you saw it. Lately Tumblr has been yetting my asks into the void for some reason.
1. Karate Club Leader - Childe.
We know he has the obsessive trait. He needs to see senpai regularly which isn’t going to be too hard since we are in a club with him. Basically he seems like he isn't going to cause much trouble for us as long as he gets some attention . Not to mention he is physically strong so he is a free bodyguard. Don’t think many yandere’s are going to act up when they counter Childe with Senpai otherwise they are probably going to get knocked out hard. “You shouldn’t have touched my Senpai, now look at you…Hanging on to your last breath haha! How pathetic” (quoted from his headcanons) Childe’s club I’m sure gives the skillset strength which will be useful when we have unexpected encounters where we can’t use stealth to get away.
2. Stealth and Strength
Getting out of situations before they can even begin, escaping them or grabbing important items makes stealth a flexible trait that can be used in many situations. For some reason I have the idea that strength can be OP at a high enough level because the yandere will struggle to physically do anything to you. Not to maintain some would be imitated and act more tamed not to offend senpai out of fear or respect which gives the players more control. Unless the yandere has more strength or is able to outwit the players to me it feels like a get out of jail card at higher degrees.
3. Ayato, Kazuha, Albedo and Lumine
Since this is the first day and things are going to get harder as days progress. I think it’s important to try to figure out the character traits we don’t currently know yet because it’s the best time to do so. Especially the ones that give off red flags because one way or another we are going to encounter them and I say best to do it now with no debuffs, assignments, debts etc. As for Lumine, well we still have her phone so I think she owes us a favor if we can give it to her.
4. Ayato (Yes I know I put him in q3)
Being on a date and having a character's affection at a high level doesn’t mean you know the character traits so thats why I put him in q3 3. As for my reasons to have him in question 4... “Secret admirers are difficult to find and are known to be the most dangerous wild cards! They may be your saving grace or potential ticket to death row, it all depends on how you impact them.” So far he is the only one that we have currently discovered that has that. The fact that the game is straight up warns us players about him being the death of us or being super helpful shows alot about Ayato’s potential so I want to be on his good side. Unlike some yanderes, most likely he isn’t going to be bragging about the kiss or date unless someone brings it up. Based on his personality in Genshin he isn’t the type to draw unwanted attention but rather dance in the shadows and be cunning like a puppeteer. He is a smooth talker due to being the Yashiro commissioners dealing with politics so he isn’t going to do anything reckless outwrite but instead plan carefully and manipulate situations to suit his interests. He has spies that relay information back to him so it makes me wonder if he has any dirt/ useful information on other characters. This would be helpful as it allows us to make better decisions and survive. Idk if the Shuumatsuban in this au are able to assassinate anyone Ayato chooses but that too could play to our own advantage if that is the case.
I haven’t had the chance to get to it yet but I’m so glad I did now! (>^ω^<)

hello! :D im the storyline asker from, a while ago haha. the uh. short character study turned into 2k of just world exploration and then also two short drabbles, mostly regarding sarah and deacon gshshs.
oh but idk who else to tell this to? im finally onto the race to the finish questline and i realized that now deacon Only has his mongrels ring, after two years of it being the only one gone. it will not let me go. why does it feel so significant. i feel like i could write a poem on it but i dont even know what itd end up being about. pain.
YES, HELLO HELLO!!! I absolutely remember!!! I’m so glad to hear you got so much progress done on it, it sounds absolutely wonderful already 👀👀 Also oh my gosh you are absolutely right This is ESPECIALLY significant considering he gave the ring to Sarah with a promise, “I want this back”, a silent promise to find each other again. Earlier on in the game he mentions something about “joining the MC is one of the only decisions i don’t regret” (not word for word but something along those lines), which just further hits that realization of how important the MC is to him; the tattoos he bears, the patches and symbols decorating his jacket, the mongrels ring, all showing his pride.  Its also really impactful in the scene you’re talking about, because at this point he has already found Sarah once and got his ring back (since they weren’t allowed to have jewelry at the camp and he got it back right before this mission), but it just brings the whole story full circle. Especially since earlier he finally picked up his wedding ring after finding out Sarah didn’t die at that first campsite they went to, so now it went from him retrieving his mongrel ring, the one he gave to Sarah, to his wedding rings, which he gets back right at the very end. AGH this is such a good point thank you for bringing it up, its absolutely gorgeous symbolism 😭

Could i pls request a siren jin♡,,,one where he finds you after a storm in a shipwreck and he like nurses you back to health but when your finally ready to go he won't actually let you. You can decide the ending🙇‍♀️
A/N: thank you for requesting, my love, I hope you enjoy~
The cruise ship rocked back and forth repeatedly, waves crashing into the sides. Rain poured from the dark cumulonimbus clouds, successfully soaking through your clothing. Thunder and lightning rang and flashed all around. Panicked screams sounded from every room of the ship. You were holding onto the side rail tightly. You could barely keep your eyes open long enough to see the monstrous wave that was about to collide with the ship.
Almost everyone knew it was safer to stay on the large vessel rather than get on a smaller one and risk the chance of being drowned by the ocean itself. Although, it seems this boat wasn’t going to last much longer. The few people that did lower themselves in a raft down into the water were quickly flipped over and taken by the unforgiving sea.
Your soaked hair whipped in every which way before the wave came down on the ship. Your grip on the metal railing slipped as the entire cruise was flipped until it was sideways before crashing into the depths of the sea. A hook from the ship caught into your shirt and into your side as you attempted to swim back up to the surface. You watched as more people and debris began to float to the surface.
This was it. You had no way of surviving. Your lungs were running out of oxygen and you were sinking farther and farther to the seafloor. You relaxed your muscles and let out your last bit of breath, closing your eyes. You should have never accepted the ticket your friend had given you.
Breathing in, water filled your airway, burning. Faintly, you felt a tug on the hook that was dug into your side. Your eyes open just slightly to see a man taking the hook out of your flesh and felt his arms wrap around you.
Your vision turned black before you could look at your savior.
Tumblr media
The sound of crashing water woke you. Eyes cracked open to be met with a cave ceiling. The hand resting by your side could feel a scratchy fabric underneath you. Your other hand laid on your stomach. You went to sit up only to lay back down again from the shooting pain in your side. Groaning while gently nursing your side, you looked down to see your shirt, now dried, with a bloodstain. Carefully, you lifted your shirt up to see bandages wrapped around your torso.
“Finally, you’re awake, I was starting to worry you would never wake up,” a voice came from your right making your head turn.
Your eyes landed on the man you remember before losing consciousness. His wet pink hair was slicked back, broad shoulders dripping with water. Muscly arms rested on the lip of the tide pool he treaded in. The sound of rushing water you had woken up to was the waterfall meeting the river that led outside of the cave you were in.
The man’s cyan eyes stay on you as you moved your head around to look at your new and unfamiliar surroundings. He studied your expression, your body, all the small movements you made hadn’t gone unnoticed by him. His gut trembled with hunger as he couldn’t look away from you. He felt parched even though he was in a pool of water.
“Wait...how come you were able to save me from that deep in the water?” you looked at him scrutinizing.
“Haha, well, ya see…” he brought the end of his tail high enough for you to see his monofin.
“All right, I’m out,” you went to stand but the pain in your side had you slowly lay back down, taking deep breaths through the pain.
“Doesn’t seem like you’re going anywhere, Moonlight.”
Moonlight? What an odd nickname. Although, this whole situation was odd. You didn’t have much of a choice, you could barely move without being in immense pain and you had no idea where you were.
Meanwhile, the half-man was studying your appearance. Normally the humans that were stranded or in need of help were men that made the journey to feed their egos. What was an extraordinary specimen like you doing all the way out here? His webbed hands reached towards your arm. Your skin was so smooth compared to his scaly skin.
With the touch of the man’s cold hand, it brought your attention to his face. His slicked, almost dry, hair was a rose pink that matched well with his pale skin. His plump rosy lips pursed as he studied your skin more. Guess the folklore and tales were actually true, merpeople do exist. There was something...off about him though. As if he wasn’t a normal merman based on stories. The sharp teeth that poked out when he spoke and the claws that lightly dragged across your skin were not the basic portrayals of a merman.
“What are you exactly?” you couldn’t keep the question from coming out but since you were stuck here, might as well learn about your inhuman savior.
He chuckled, “I’m what you humans call a siren.”
“Like the ones that lure people to their death with singing?”
“Is that what you humans think? We don’t have to sing to get humans under our spells. They merely have to look at us and they’ll be entranced if we so wish,” he explained as if he wasn’t admitting to killing humans.
He noticed your concerned expression and decided to reassure you, “Don’t worry, I’m not going to eat you. If I was going to I would’ve already done it. Besides, there was more than enough food from the rest of the wreck.”
“Why did you save me?”
“Cause you’re cute.”
It was simple and short. Nothing about it was sweet. Who knows how many other lives he could have saved especially if he had time to bandage your wound and eat while you were unconscious.
“If you keep staring at me like that then I’m going to have to eat you,” he chuckled as your eyes widened before darting away. He found you so adorable yet so delectable. There was no doubt in his mind that you would be the sweetest thing he’s ever tasted. However, he couldn’t bring himself to eat you. Something about you had pulled him to your location. That’s how he found the shipwreck. That part of the ocean belonged to someone else but he didn’t care at the time.
You went to ask for the siren’s name when your gut made a loud growling noise. Your cheeks turned red as you keep your gaze away from the smirking man next to you.
“Seems like my little human is hungry. I’ll be right back,” he chuckled again before submerging under the water and swam away.
This gave you a chance to look around, the dewy rock walls led up to an opening with the moon shining directly down into the cave you laid in. It was full and glowing brightly. You could hear the waves colliding with the outside of the rock formation around you. It was so dangerously calming.
“I’m back~” the siren popped his head out of the water, startling you. “I got you a mackerel!” he slapped the fish right beside you as he grinned.
You watched as water dripped down his smiling face. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad.
Tumblr media
Over the past three weeks, you’ve learned that your savior’s name was Seokjin. He’d been taking care of you, never leaving your side for too long. You had started changing your bandages due to Seokjin’s claws accidentally catching on your sutures and reopening the wound. If he kept changing the bandages your wound would never heal.
Now the cut is almost completely healed and you’ve been thinking of ways to get home when Seokjin wasn’t talking your ear off. For someone who didn’t like humans very much, he liked to talk to you for hours. You wondered how he had so many stories to tell.
“Moonlight, what are you thinking about?” Seokjin’s voice pierced through your thoughts.
“Just trying to think of a way to get back home?” you sighed as you continued to drag your finger through the sand absentmindedly.
“Leave? Why would you want to leave?” his brows furrowed and his face scrunched up in disgust.
“Well...I can’t stay here. I have a life back home. Friends, work, I’m sure no one has any idea where I am. Or even if I’m alive for that matter,” you hoped you weren’t making your friends sick with worry.
Seokjin began laughing. It started as a chuckle and progressed to a sickening cackle that echoed throughout the cave. You slowly shuffled back until you hit the rough cave wall. Still, it wasn’t far enough from the crazed siren in front of you.
“You can’t leave, Moonlight. You’re mine,” he chuckled before pulling himself out of the tide pool and onto the sand. His long tail transformed into legs, allowing him to walk over to you and crouch down. He held your chin between his fingers, “I’ll never let you go. I’m your life now.”
“Let me go home,” your wide eyes were staring into his.
Your mind was going blank as a smirk stretched across his features. Your eyes could no longer focus. You willed your limbs to move but they wouldn’t comply. Soon, you couldn’t think at all. Seokjin wasn’t allowing you to even think of leaving him behind.

—xXxXxXxXxXx—
You had some worries about Kaeya, dubbed “The Handsome Mr. Kaeya” by Paimon.
There was no doubt that he was attractive, his ever present smirk and exposed chest was enough to signify to anyone that even Kaeya was well aware of his looks. But he tended to wield his words like a double edged sword - using his words for an express purpose.
It was admirable, in a way. He was the loyal Cavalry Captain who looked out for Mondstadt’s best interest. And while he had misled you on this pirate treasure adventure, there was no harm really done. In fact, from the way he prattled about haircuts and eyepatches inherited from his parents, you were already sure that it was simply a tale being spun for Paimon to latch onto.
At the end of the day, Kaeya still compensated you for your time and provided you with a higher-level weapon. The criminals were caught and the Knights were credited for another arrest of an infamous Treasure Hunter. It was a win-win situation that you very quickly put behind you as another job done.
The entire quest had not really bothered you - it was not like you had not withheld anything either. You ran from clue to clue without updating Kaeya on your progress, with the express intent of snagging some of this treasure yourself.
It was a really smart move on his part and, for whatever reason, it had the inverse effect on you - it made you want to get closer to Kaeya.
Paimon grumbled for all of a day before she prattled onto something new, complaining about the returning ruin guard by the temple or the way Venti sassed her. But you often found yourself hanging around Good Hunter or  Angel’s Share, wondering if you would be able to run into him again.
It was no surprise that Kaeya was always busy, Jean had mentioned before that Kaeya was the one who often wrapped up every physical incident that occurred in both the city and outer plains of Mondstadt.
And so it was easy to lose track of him, the image of Kaeya still present in your mind, just pushed back in the further recess as you continued in your struggle to find clues about your brother. When whispers on the street spoke of a Dark Knight hero, you were pleasantly surprised to see Diluc patrolling the streets from the shadows.
The last thing you had expected was to team-up with the very man who ran opposite to the Knights, but you learned how oddly sweet Diluc was in that short amount of time. His double life of fighting off the abyss army single-handedly to running the largest Winery on the continent - Diluc’s workload was no easy feat.
You were just out of the clear, Huffman gone to deal with the slimes when a resounding clap started from the dining area of the bar. Kaeya stood and approached you both, you turned to Diluc and he had the flattest, most unimpressed expression on.
You stood mostly silent in that conversation, Diluc with his arms and chin held high. Kaeya had reassured him that the secret was best kept that way, eyes glinting mischievously as they went from the winery owner to you.
You only stared right back, as if Kaeya’s face would give off exactly what he was looking for. Instead, he simply smiled at the both of you and left when Diluc said he was closing the bar. Diluc thanked you for your assistance, reassuring you that in case you need help, he was a willing hand.
When you walked out the bar then, Kaeya was still right outside, chatting casually with some of the late bar-goers that sat at the picnic table. Just as he made eye-contact with you, he bid himself goodbye from the group and fell into step with you.
“Paimon doesn’t trust blue-haired, eye-patched men anymore.” She started next to you.
“That’s good I’m a blue-haired, eye-patched handsome young man.” Kaeya shot back, to which she rolled her eyes. He then turned to you with the same open smirk as usual, “And here I was thinking I could make you my assistant.”
Was he flirting with you?
It took you a second to question this internally before Paimon scoffed, “Ugh, I’m going ahead to the inn. I don’t think I can stand watching you make kissy-faces at each other after the day we had.”
You waved a hand in her direction to smack her, but she was already flying away up and out of reach.
Turning back to the Captain, you were surprised to see that Kaeya was still looking at you, not even toward Paimon as she fled into the night.
Remembering his last statement, you shot back, “Think you could handle me?”
“Confidence, it looks very good on you.” Kaeya replied as his smile widened. He took a single step closer, lowering his voice next to your ear and continuing. “But the real question is if you have any idea what you’re getting yourself into?”
You stood your ground, ignoring the shiver that ran up your spine, “I always like to try new things.”
“I look forward to it.” Kaeya straightened, lightly grabbing your hand in one of his own and raising it to his lips. “Until then, traveler.”
To think that such a simple action, hardly anything scandalous, had lingered on your skin the entire night. You remembered the way his lips felt against your hand, how striking his blue eyes bore into your own. Kaeya was extremely dangerous, able to catch your attention and keep it for hours on end.
The next day you had a commission about dismantling a rising Hilichurl camp, a perfect distraction away from the eye-patched hunk that kept plaguing your thoughts. The last thing you expected was for Kaeya to see you.
“Looks like our honorary knight continues their do-good streak.”
“It’s the least I can do.” You replied back, a sassy hand on your waist.
“Why don’t I accompany you?”
You wanted to scream.
Paimon actually did groan before stating she was going to stay in the city.
And suddenly, your distraction was running exactly opposite to your intention. With Kaeya joining your party, the Cavalry Captain was making himself decidedly known you.
He led you around a cliff, showing you a higher area where you could survey the camp before bursting in guns blazing. There were six Hilichurls, some slimes scattered about and two towers already set-up in this enemy campsite.
You decided to stick together, coming in from the high ground and slamming your weapon into the ground at unsuspecting enemies. It felt nice to fight alongside someone again, oftentimes you were alone in your adventures. Paimon would yell words of encouragement, but never would she actually lift a finger to fight. But Kaeya was reliable, freezing enemies into place and shattering them where they stood.
Taking down some of the outer-rim electro Hilichurls equipped with bows, you were nearly finished with clearing the entire camp. You grabbed the pyro slimes and exploded them near the towers, taking down the camp with them. With the camp almost completely disassembled, you heard the tell-tale electronic power-up that only signified one enemy.
A ruin guard.
Hunched over, you watched as multiple missiles took aim on the nearby unsuspecting Cavalry Captain. Running the best you could, you threw decorum out the window as you all but tackled the poor man out of harm's way.
Rolling a few times, there was no surprised yelp from the man beneath you. He simply allowed you to take the wheel until you came to a stop, hovering over his body. Kaeya was undoubtedly taller than you, but you were face-to-face as he smirked beneath you.
“Wow, not that I’m against this.” Kaeya started, a quip ready. “But ask me out to dinner first.”
You flushed and stood up immediately, “I was saving you!”
“I’ll let you save me any day of the week.” Kaeya replied, earning a half-assed scowl on your behalf. He only laughed at you, calling your attempted look of intimidation only served to make a cute pout instead.
You huffed and considered leaving him with the ruin guard.
From then on there was no doubt about it - Kaeya was flirting with you.
And you were openly flirting back, if of course he decided a less obnoxious moment. In between commissions and nights at Angel’s Share, Kaeya flirtations were growing more and more brazen. It was one thing to kiss the top of your hand in greeting and another entirely for Kaeya to throw his hand across your hair, leaning in to openly bury his nose in your hair.
Diluc called you both disgusting.
Tonight, you entered Cat Tail’s semi-inconspicuously to get a drink. Paimon had long caught onto your game, saying that she surprisingly approved of Kaeya, since after all he was still a good guy in some ways.
But, she still was not exactly a fan of you too making “kissy-faces” at each other, her words. And so tonight you were flying solo, Paimon opting to annoy Amber instead tonight as they tracked down some abyss mage or other.
You tried your best to hang around the bar, looking around the tavern to see if the object of your desire was anywhere around. You meandered for a few minutes, saying greetings to other bargoers that had recognized you, before approaching the bartender if Kaeya has been around
The bartender recognized you immediately. It was hard not to place one of the few new people in Mondstadt, especially one that was crushing much of the country's enemies. Diona had mentioned before that you were a friend of Diluc’s, often more than just a customer at the rival tavern. No, you were seen running around the city with the red-head at random times.
She said the worst thing you could have ever suspected.
“I think Kaeya has a hot date tonight.”
You felt a lump in your throat form, but tried to keep your response guarded. “Oh?”
The bartender continued, “Yeah, I’m not sure if it was Paula? Or Maggie tonight? But you know the captain - always changing up his escapades.”
“Right, of course.” You replied back, words coming out before you could even register it. Instead, you kept on nursing your drink, spiteful words from the bartender marinating in your mind.
Kaeya was mysterious, yes. But was he leading you on?
… Was it right of you to trust him?
The first red flag should have been the fact that you knew nearly nothing about him personally. To think that you had spent all this time together talking and fighting alongside one another, but you could not even recall basic facts about him, let alone anything deep. You were unaware of his family history - Diluc was his brother, but it was the red-head who ended up confiding that fact to you.
Kaeya was so charming that you hadn’t even noticed he shut you out of his world.
And so there was no point in actively keeping a one-sided friendship like that. From then forth, you resolved to avoid the Cavalry Captain for the time being. You knew you had to free Dvalin together, but that did not mean you had to swoon for him in your free time.
It was almost expected of you to join him on Friday nights at Angel’s Share, but tonight you were missing. Neither Charles nor Diluc had seen you the entire day. There were probably a hundred different things you were doing - gathering resources, fighting slimes - and so Kaeya thought little of it.
But he was still disappointed not to see your face that night.
And so he thought nothing was wrong the next day when he saw you in the city square, talking to someone at the general store. He approached you and offered to join your party again, take down some enemies somewhere out in the country.
You didn’t even smile at him.
Not this time.
Just a curt no before you were leaving out the city gates.
The second time Kaeya already had enough and confronted you before you could even attempt to walk away.
He grabbed at your elbow, “Have you finally grown tired of me?”
You pulled it back, no real strength behind it as Kaeya still held you under his grip. “Kaeya, why is it that you keep reaching out to me? I have nothing of my own to offer - no money, no family - there is nothing left I can give you.”
He frowned in response but grabbed at your other hand, “I haven’t asked you for anything, have I?”
You looked away, “You don’t have to! It’s inherent, after all. Isn’t that why you asked me to team-up in the first place, to use me to find your criminals?”
Kaeya mentally recoiled, “Woah, back up. I may have guided you regarding the treasure but never have I maliciously led you on.”
You pulled at your hands to no avail, this time the captain actively trying to keep your attention on him.
“I just! I thought I meant something more to you, Kaeya.”
He smiled and tried to pull you into his chest, but you shoved off his touch this time fully.
“No! You can’t just hug me and think everything is okay. You’re supposed to be one of the good guys, one of the handful of people I can trust in Mondstadt and I know nothing about you.”
Kaeya did not reach for your hands, instead moving to stand in front of you. “I’m sorry that I hold my secrets close to my chest, but that’s what I’m used to.”
Frustrated, you replied. “Don’t you get tired? Holding the people that love you at an arm's length?”
“I’m sorry.” He repeated, this time reaching for you. “I’m sorry that I made you feel like you weren’t special. Trust me, you’re the only one I’ve had eyes on ever since you landed here in Mondstadt.”
You shook your head, “But the bartender, she said -”
“Who cares what she said?” Kaeya interrupted, “They know village gossip, but they don’t know me or you.”
“I don’t really know you.” You replied.
Kaeya caressed the side of your cheek before lightly gently grabbing your hand again, “Then let’s start.”
With a hesitant smile, you closed your eyes and nodded.
“Okay.”
You had your doubts then and it’s not like an issue of trust was fixed overnight. But, to his credit, Kaeya tried as best he could. Instead of meeting randomly at the bar, he would approach you sometime during the day and set-up a date. How he knew where you were was a mystery, but a man with that many connections surely had a way.
He had no qualms about holding your hand or openly kissing your cheek in the presence of others - proclaiming loudly to one and all in Mondstadt that you were his and he was yours.
Taking your first argument to heart, Kaeya was very keen on communication. Anything you were unsure of, he expressed that he was by no means rushing you. And when you finally shared your first kiss, for once not a single soul in front of the Lord Barbatos statue, you leaned into his touch to get many more.
Kaeya made good on his promise, slowly letting you into his world in kind. You remembered one night as the both of you sat on the edge of Mondstadt, nothing but ocean for miles in front of you. You had your head on his shoulder, describing your adventures with your brother and how you missed having family.
Kaeya had a gentle hand in your hair, rubbing soothing circles as you recalled a time long ago. Once your story finished, you two continued to stare out, wondering what the future could hold as your minds swam in an endless sea of thoughts.
He broke the silence.
“I miss my brother also.”
Diluc was not always his estranged brother, but once a friend, supporter, and sounding board. Some even mistook them as truly twins in heart and mind, defending Mondstadt and having each other’s backs for years. The Diluc you had come to know was a shell of his old self, close friends and past hidden behind years of repressed feelings.
There was no doubt wistfulness in Kaeya’s eyes as he recalled the past to you, but you continued to listen quietly.
Your relationship with the Cavalry Captain was hardly easy. Often responsibilities called you both - Kaeya was highly stationed in Mondstadt while you still had seven other countries to visit. But that did not mean the end for you both. Even when you were thousands of miles away or sat atop the highest mountain without a clue to where he was, you cherished the thought that you still shared the same sky with the love of your life.
No matter where you were in Teyvat, you had Kaeya to return to.

Harry Potter FanFiction I greatly enjoy (it’s just tomarry and sevitus)
Fair warning, I’m not good at describing stuff, and most of these are not complete (yet) but if you have similar tastes as I do then you’ll definitely like these stories.
Meddling of a Mischief Maker - by Athy
https://archiveofourown.org/works/5380535/chapters/12427268
I enjoy this fic because it shows a more human Voldemort with him still being an asshole as per usual. They do a good job of having Voldemort believably change into a not crazy murderous bastard haha. It also has Sirius interacting with Voldemort and for some reason I find those scenes hilarious in any fic I read.
“Harry's being a horcrux is a bit reworked here in this AU Story set during the summer after 5th year. A Mischief Maker intervenes in the Ministry during Voldemort and Dumbledore's duel, changing the course history. MorallyGrey!Dumbledore, Sirius, Restored Souls, HP/TR”
Draw Me After You (Let Us Run) - by ToAStranger @toast-ranger-to-a-stranger
https://archiveofourown.org/works/22327684/chapters/53334382
This story is a delight, it’s tone is very good and they do a great job of writing in the characters ‘voices’ for their pov’s. I especially like the posh way Voldemort talks and acts. This story is also hilarious on top of just being a very good slowburn, AND it has Sirius, which as you might have guessed, I love dearly. They also don’t bash any of the characters, and instead make them well rounded but flawed individuals, which I really appreciate.
“Harry Potter,” comes the soft, sibilant hiss of a voice he has heard in his dreams, in his nightmares, in his waking hours for years.
Slowly, carefully, Harry twists over and pushes up onto his hands and knees. He stays there, short breath fogging in front of his face, and his pursuer lets him. Harry has no doubt of that; he’s being allowed this respite. This small moment to catch his bearings, heart pounding in his ears, blood singing.
“It seems I have finally caught you.”
Consuming Shadows - by Child_OTKW @childotkw
https://archiveofourown.org/works/7040089/chapters/16011331
I’ve read two of childOTKW’s fics and both of them are fantastically written and attention grabbing stories. This one was the first one I read, and it has a very interesting take on lily Potter (one which I really enjoy) and the plot can leave you on the edge of your seat at times. The characterization is great, and the process of Harry and Tom getting to know each other is done very well.
“His attention skipped passed the students and moved to the politicians’ pavilion. His gaze locked with crimson, and he nearly faltered under the sheer hunger in those eyes.
It unnerved him how fixated the man was on his dirtied, exhausted figure.
But what troubled him more was the slight smirk he could make out on the man’s lips. It was almost pleased.
On the night of the attack, Lily managed to escape with her infant son, but at the cost of her husband’s life. Distraught and distrusting of her friends, she fled to France with Harry, to raise him away from the corruption in Britain and the rising influence of the Dark Lord. She trains him to the best of her abilities, shaping him into a dangerous, intelligent and powerful wizard.
But when Britain re-establishes the Triwizard Tournament, and Harry is forced to return to his once-home, he finds himself questioning whether he really wants to kill the Dark Lord. Voldemort finds an unexpected challenge in the child, and as his intrigue and amusement grows, so too does the desire to possess the spark in those defiant green eyes.”
A story that is kind of similar but not really: The Train to Nowhere
You Belong To Me (I Belong To You) - by child_OTKW
https://archiveofourown.org/works/11270490/chapters/25203408
This is a story inspired by the manwha ‘At The End Of The Road’ by Haribo. A comic I read before reading this, which is very good I recommend it. They do not take the exact plot from the comic though, obviously changing significant details for it to work properly as a Tomarry Fic, but one main thing stays the same, which is that this is a body swap. Honestly I really enjoy childOTKW’s works, and this is no exception. The characterization is wonderful as always, and Harry is Fantastic. Plus I’ve always been a fan of time travel fics. (Fair warning this is another slow burn and Harry centric)
“What I find absolutely fascinating,” Riddle said, stalking closer, “is you.” He marched forward, backing Harry up until he was pinned to the cool wall of the common room. “Do you know why?”
“No. And I’ll be honest here, Riddle, I don’t particularly care.”
The taller boy grinned at him, small yet infinitely pleased. “That. Right there.” One hand rose and brushed some of Harry’s fringe from his face. “Nathan Ciro was a spineless little boy too afraid of his own shadow to dare even glance in my direction. But you…”
He leaned closer, “You look at me like you want to stab me.”
“After an accident, Auror Harry Potter wakes up in the body of fourteen year old Nathan Ciro, a tormented Slytherin who recently tried to end his own life. Seeking answers to his strange predicament, Harry returns to Hogwarts, and causes quite the stir through staff and students - especially when they come to realise he is not the same boy as before.
He tries to avoid suspicion, but as his quest for the truth draws more and more attention to him, Harry begins to think that he might not like what he will discover.”
Some Bonus AU tomarry
A Thousand Paths Among The Stars - by Haplessshippo @haplesshippo
https://archiveofourown.org/works/12015060/chapters/27191238
This is a star trek au and it’s honestly my favorite tomarry au fic. Granted, I am a huge sci-fi fan. There’s also a bit of a twist at the end, or at least it surprised me, due to the way we usually expect tomarry plots to go.
“Harry Potter, newly appointed Captain of the Marauder and son of the famous Captain James Potter, was falling apart at the seams. His crew didn’t respect him, he was lost in the empty expanse of space, nightmares plagued his sleep, and his Commander deserved the Captain position more than he did. Good thing multiple attempts on his life and a vicious warlord after his head was all it took to turn it all around.
Alternatively, that space fic in which Harry Potter almost dies too many times, Tom Riddle slowly becomes the most smitten fool on the ship, and the rest of the crew are all just a bunch of assholes with popcorn watching the show. And exploding ships, don't forget the exploding ships.”
The Matchmaker - by TanninTele
https://archiveofourown.org/works/16507676/chapters/38664089
I am ALSO a huge true crime fan, and this story has a criminal that kinda reminds me of one that might appear in Hannibal (but with less murder). I enjoy the characterization, though tom is pretty tame in this compared to more cannon fics, considering he’s not the criminal and instead an investigator. Harry is also different from how people usually portray him, but I still like it.
“'The Matchmaker' is a serial abductor whose modus operandi consists of pairing two same-sex individuals together in a coffin, six feet underground - buried alive. He isn't a killer. He's a kidnapper with morals, and Detective Chief Inspector Tom Riddle finds himself obsessed with solving the case.
Unfortunately for Tom, the Matchmaker is just as intent on knowing him.”
And on to the Sevitus Stories
Far Beyond A Promise Kept - by oliversnape
https://archiveofourown.org/works/547431/chapters/974693
A classic, Harry stays with snape and unintentionally proves all his assumptions wrong and makes snape care about him. Both the stories have this aspect, but this one has snape a bit nicer from the get go. Probably because it takes place during the third book, so they’ve only known each other two years. It’s quite wholesome though, and I rather enjoy the progression of their relationship.
“Snape never wanted anyone to know of his promise to Dumbledore, but has realised that he can protect Potter much better by taking a less passive role in the boy's training. Actually liking Harry Potter has never been part of his plan. mentor/guardian.”
Crime And Punishment - by melolcatsi
https://archiveofourown.org/works/24102232/chapters/58018174
Snape and Harry have way more of a rocky start in this one, and Snape having to pick Harry up from the police station Really Doesn’t Help Snape’s opinion of him. This story very realistically shows the progression of their relationship, going from enemies to family, and near the ‘end’ (it’s not finished) it becomes very wholesome with Snape trying to help Harry with his mental and physical health after years of abuse/ neglect.
“Harry is accused of burglary. The Dursleys leave him to rot. Dumbledore sends Snape to remedy the situation. Harry finds himself in the care of an irate Snape. Not slash, gen-fic w/ focus on Sevitus relationship. Angst galore. Warnings: coarse and suggestive language, mentions of abuse/neglect. Un-betaed and un-Britpicked.”

The Yaksha sighs.
He’s here again. His mind and heart has returned his being into this crimson world his demons have created within him.
He feels it. He feels the corruption binding him tighter again for every death he brings by his tainted hands.
He looks at his bindings. And ever so slowly, the red and black coiling around his person will eventually reach his heart.
One day, he thinks, all this crimson and black in this world will swallow him whole and he will see the light no more.
Xiao sighs again.
This is his karmic debt.
~
The moment you stepped foot within Wangshu Inn, you knew he was in his prison again. After giving a quick greeting to the inn keeper, you hastily went to Xiao’s room. The closer you got, the heavier the atmosphere became.
You reached his door and knocked softly. As expected, no reply as he continues to struggle to take back his control over himself. Without hesitation, you stepped in. To anyone else, they would have instantly met his spear at their throats, but with you, this doesn’t happen. Instead, you see him crouched on the wooden floor with a hand on his chest. His knuckles were white and his breathing was ragged. His amber eyes- lost. Observing his form, yes… his moments of corruption are becoming progressively worse.
With swift steps of familiarity to this routine, you went to him and grasped his shoulders.
“Xiao, it’s me…” You whispered with clarity. And oh- how your voice brought a wave of comfort to his soul.
“N-name…” His voice cracked, but him calling to you is always a good sign.
You gave him a small smile and proceeded to grasp his hands together with yours. After which, you then leaned your forehead to his to chant your prayers. As your prayers progressed, slowly but surely, the corruption begins to fade along with the black mist that covered him. However, you took note how this ritual took longer than the last.
Once everything is done, Xiao just slumped onto your shoulders, still breathing deeply. “How are you feeling?” It was a useless question you asked every time this happens, but you always, always, have to make sure.
Usually, he would mutter a small ‘fine,’ but now- words seemed to have left his mind and all he could muster was an almost-unnoticeable shrug.
Truth be told- his response disheartened you, but you did not show it. Instead, you opted to simply encase him in your arms and caress his hair. After all, these are just one of the few, rare moments Xiao would leave himself into your care. Xiao is aware, himself, that his state has been becoming worse and worse. And you both know, that a day would come when he would just attack anyone- friend or foe- without a trace of hesitation. So, just this time- he speaks his feelings.
“Name?”
You answered immediately with a questioning hum.
“What would you do… when I finally lose control over myself?”
It was very subtle, but he felt how your hand stopped caressing his hair for a second, then proceeded to the previous task at hand again. In all honestly, you can never find yourself having an answer to that question. “And why would I ever let that happen to you?” You questioned back, fully aware that you were dodging his question.
Silence surrounded the two of you, unsure on what to do with the sudden heavier atmosphere.
Not wanting to face the cruelty of the world yet, Xiao simply buried himself on the crook of your neck even more. And despite the ghostly sensation of his lips on your skin, you could feel him mouth the words ‘I love you.’
“As long as I’m here,” you whispered, “nothing can hurt you.” And that was the most beautiful lie that the Yaksha has heard, but he was willing to believe all the same.
~
When word about Fatui diplomats starting a bank reached you, there was a nagging feeling in your head that trouble would bring itself present anytime soon. It was like an itch that wouldn’t get away. And the only way to have that itch gone is to scratch it.
“You are absolutely a fool.” Xiao stated darkly with crossed arms, for once disagreeing with the plans of his master.
“We can never know what their intentions are unless we let them start their bank, no?” Zhongli said as he gazed at the marsh spread beneath him.
The Yaksha only scoffed but said no more.
Building up your courage, you deemed it was your turn to voice out your thoughts, “Um… Rex Lapis, I see your point, but wouldn’t it be best to resolve the problem before it persists into something larger? We all know- All of Teyvat knows, that the Fatui are not to be trusted.”
Your archon offered you a kind smile, “I understand your worries, Name. However, as of the moment, they have not presented themselves as such. If they truly are our enemies, then it would be beneficial for us to know their intentions.”
You frowned deeply at his statement. Seeing you do so, somehow, your archon immediately identified your main concern.
“Is this about the Tianquan assigning you to be her representative for the Fatui?”
The moment those words left his mouth, a growl tore from Xiao’s throat, but he held his tongue.
“Did Ganyu tell you?”
The Archon nodded and you sighed.
“I volunteered, actually.”
And at that point, Xiao vanished into thin hair, but you could still his sense his presence around.
“May I know why?” Zhongli questioned gently.
For a moment, you struggled for words. You didn’t know how to describe this ‘itch’ to him. “At first, it was supposed to be Ganyu, since in the Tianquan’s eyes- Ganyu is an adeptus and she does not know that I am, too. Perhaps she didn’t want to put me in harm’s way, a ‘visionless human’ at the side of a harbinger. After some convincing to Ningguang for my volunteering, I spoke to Ganyu next.
“The adepti are divine beings that walk here in Liyue. I had this feeling that putting a divine next to a power-hungry harbinger would become an issue. I told Ganyu that, since I looked ‘harmless’ and ‘ordinary,’ the harbinger’s interest about the divine would never surface.”
A stretch of silence wrapped around them as Zhongli pondered over your words. “Perhaps, are you also planning to dig out the truth of their arrival?”
You nodded, “I knew you would allow them to stay, so I just took it upon myself to unfurl their secrets.”
“Hmmm… I grant you permission on doing this. However, should trouble arise, do not hesitate to tell us.”
~
The glare pointed at you was strong. Even without him saying a single word, you could hear his phantom voice in your head speak with such coldness, What are you thinking?
You simply gave him a reassuring smile, “I’ll be fine, Xiao. I may be a human in mortal eyes, but please do remember that I am also an adeptus, no matter how weak I am.”
Xiao releases a huff, but still sits by your side at the floor of the balcony, letting the moon kiss his skin. “You’re not weak.” He mumbled as he snaked his hand to yours.
To him, you will never be weak. In fact, you were the strongest being he has ever laid his eyes on. Not physically, no. It was you mental and emotional fortitude. Back during the Archon War, he always admired how you kept your head held up high no matter the suffering you have experienced. No matter how much death surrounded you, you still fought. And that strength made you a survivor. During the war, you never failed to help the wounded. Even when someone dies under your care, you held strong for the departed and for those who are left behind. You were a pillar of hope.
He brings your hand to his lips and kisses every knuckle “… Just be careful. If ever you are in trouble do not-“
“Hesitate to call your name.” You finished, beaming at his words.
~
As someone who used to be a healer and a doctor, you were quite familiar with several mild skin diseases that mortals can suffer from.
If there is an itch, you do not scratch it- for you will only aggravate the area even more.
Now that you’re working alongside the Fatui as the Tianquan’s representative, the itch you kept feeling was only irritated more. Especially whenever you spoke with the Harbinger who goes by the name Childe. And since your work requires you to cooperate with him, you also don’t miss the chance to discover what he hides, should the opportunity presents itself.
Childe… his azure eyes certainly have their… charm to those unaware. However, you knew better. You know he’s capable of drowning you just by his eyes. While he may be a cheerful man, his eyes lack the lustre of joy. The eyes are the windows of the soul, yes? If so, all you see is an unending ocean that you do not want to swim in. The surface may be calm, but the deep is relentless. However, duty bound you are- deep within the ocean, you shall find the secrets the Fatui hides.
Again, another scratch to the itch, but it only irritates you more.
The news of Rex Lapis’s death became the catalyst of you confronting the Harbinger. From Yujeng Terrace all the way to Northland Bank, you ran (with Ningguang’s permission of course). Before you can even open the door to his office, something caught your eye.
It’s faint, but you’re an adeptus. You sensed elemental traces, just smack bang at the middle of the door. You carefully scrutinized the tracings, and fortunately you knew Snezhnayan script. And what you read only made your heart sink.
It’s ready.
With the adeptal arts, you managed to uncover the origins of these elemental tracings.
Scratch.
Without hesitation, you followed these tracings until it led you into some ruins.
Scratch.
Following the tracings further, you find yourself in a dimly lit room. Wary, you summoned your weapon imbued with your element.
Scratch.
Searching the room, you came across several antique boxes. You opened them.
Scratch.
What you saw were familiar. Too familiar. Dimming the room more with your element, you find more Sigils of Permission hanging on the walls and on the ceilings. The energy within them were faint, but with enough numbers, it’s enough to kill a-
“Well, well well, I thought you’d be there mourning for your Archon. But here you are, snooping around someone else’s research material.”
The sound of his voice made you sharply turn your head to him, your stance now more offensive. “What are you planning?” You bit coldly.
The Harbinger hummed a small tune, “Nothing much… But! If you’re really curious, I guess I could tell you.” He hummed some more but you knew he’s not finished. Once he finished his tune, he grinned to you menacingly and the depths in his eyes became even deeper and darker, “After all, I won’t let you leave this place with you knowing my secret~”
~
There was this one time, Xiao struggled against himself so much, he scratched himself red so that he could anchor himself back to the real world. You remembered how much you cried as he slept in your arms. You never wanted to see him do that again. Seeing him hurt himself also hurt you, too. It was like a stab in the heart, then a twist, and twist some more. A slap in the reality that you might lose him one day.
As he slept, you solemnly observed the wounds he sustained himself to. They were angry red, just like blood.
Now, you, yourself scratched that itch in your head too much into a wound for blood to seep through. You scratched too much and now you have to bleed from it.
~
You were slipping in and out of consciousness. Sleep was tempting you more and more but you know you have to wake up. You were aware that this is going on for days.
Everything hurts. You remembered how his blades, imbued with the Sigils, weakened you thoroughly. Every slash he brought to your body just drained the energy away from you. But still you had to do something.
He wanted an adeptus- he wanted an adeptus in order for the Sigils to grow stronger both in number and in power.
Now here you are, bound by chains and suspended at the middle of this empty room. These chains were adorned by talismans that drained away your energy. You were bleeding from your wounds of your previous battle.
Drip. Drip. Drip goes the blood and pools on the ground underneath you. The ground, you barely noticed, was lined by Liyuean script which enacts the ritual of the Sigils draining your divine power from your blood.
To the eyes of a sadist- you were a picture perfect in a canvas. A dark room lined by the damned Sigils, glowing an eerie gold. Then there's you with your bloodied clothes and chains. The red pool underneath was casting a red glow on your way, giving you a red shade to your pale skin.
Everything hurts-
And everything was driving you mad.
You can also feel the Overlord of the Vortex feed from your energy through the Sigils. You sensed his lust for power and revenge. You felt his anger and the corruption within him. You felt his hatred and his want to bring death. For days that felt like years, you’ve been battling against that very same god in your head. This battle was not something you shall not lose to and failure is not an option. If you fail here, then Liyue will fall.
This god- he was driving you mad slowly.
If ever you are in trouble, do not hesitate to call my-
You shut the thought from your head. You are not going to call him. You will not speak of him. You will not think of him. You will not call him. Not to this place where his corruption will grow. No. You Will Not Call Him.
If it means that me not calling you will keep you safe from the corrupted remnant of a god- so be it.
Please
However, no matter how much you denied yourself to call his name, no matter how much your heart yearns to be with him- the wind does not ignore the pained sob that left your lips.
~
Ever since the news of Rex Lapis's death and the visit of the Traveler with a Sigil in his hand- the corruption within him just bloomed into something feral.
The Sigil- there was something wrong about it but Xiao doesn't know what is it that is wrong. Then there's you- where are you? Surely with the news of their Archon's death- it would send you to bring forth a meeting for the adepti to talk this over. But now- for days- you remain not by his side.
With you missing- the demons inside him are slowly taking control over him, taking advantage of his vulnerability for you. For each passing day, it was slow torture for him- The worry bubbling in him was consuming him. He glared at the Sigil between his fingers and not failing to notice how his dark aura covers him once more.
“Traveler,” Xiao called sharply, “What is it you intend to do next?”
To any mere mortal, the look his eyes held were enough to strike fear, but the Traveler stealed themselves- meeting the adeptus’s gaze with an equally serious calm. “I have my suspicions on a certain harbinger and I-”
“Where?” The Yaksha growled.
“In the Golden House.”
Without a word nor warning, Xiao placed a hand on the Traveler’s shoulder and teleported them to the place where the Exuvia is hidden.
To the Traveler, everything happened so quickly as one event led to another. One moment, they were standing among unconscious bodies of the Millelith then the next thing they knew a corrupted and demonic gust of wind flew them away to the side. Regaining back their vision, they could see Alatus’s spear now at Tartaglia’s barrier made of Sigils.
Alatus narrowed his eyes at the floating talismans and began to calculate the flow of this incoming battle with precision and accuracy despite his losing control over himself.
It was a tense minute of sizing each other up, but eventually, Tartaglia has broken the silence with his annoying innocent voice.
“Who would have thought that I’d have the honor of fighting another adeptus of Liyue?”
The question immediately fed the corruption within him, the dark aura exploding at it. He knew that he should not believe in the Harbinger’s words so easily, but the glint in the latter’s eyes held truth. You could be out there, hurting, scared, alone. You could be out there, bleeding out. You could be out there dyi-
His aura exploded once more at the thoughts spreading in his being. With a burst of unspeakable power, Alatus lifted his weapon and pierced the barrier once more, this time breaking it without failure. At the threat, Tartaglia backed away as he donned his mask.
In a similar fashion, Alatus, too donned his mask. “I will ask you once,” the Conqueror of Demons spoke with a deathly calm, “Where is she?”
~
He should have killed him then and there. But the call of the Overlord of the Vortex must not be ignored as it threatens Liyue.
In the small opportunity of escape, Childe took it. But he was weak and injured as Alatus swiftly threw his spear to block his way and teleported right in front of him. In a show of power, the Conqueror of Demons lifted the mortal by the neck.
“I will ask you again, where is she?”
In fear, Childe told him everything and at his every word, Xiao listened carefully- never speaking once. But the anger within his heart, it boils- it rages. His amber eyes bored into Childe’s soul- thinking what he should do to this mortal. Oh how killing him would be so nice. However, when the Yaksha’s gaze landed on the regal form of the Exuvia, he merely threw the mortal in its way.
“Killing you would have been easier. However, the crimes you have presented against Liyue are not mine for me to judge.
I leave the Harbinger to you... Rex Lapis.”
Once out of the Golden House, the Overlord roared once more, shaking the lands of the nation. However, along with it, he heard the faintest of voices. I’m so sorry... I couldn’t hold him back anymore.
Only then did the demons in his heart freely took control of him. Just like the stories of old, where the Yaksha walks, death follows. But they were no stories. In his way towards the ruins where you were held captive, every step he took brought carnage and even more death and blood to taint his hands. No Fatui will leave this place alive. The very being of destruction ended many lives. Each death, the demons were growing stronger.
All he wanted now was to kill kill kill kill kill kill kill kill kill kill killkillkill killkill kill killkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkillkill
Then seeing you suspended in the ceiling and bound by chains. Blood was painted on your lifeless skin. Wounds were littered and bruises were blooming on your form. But most of all, your eyes. What were once full of life and hope- now empty and blank. His demons quieted down.
Broken. You were like a broken porcelain doll.
“N-name...” His voice cracked, not believing it all.
With haste, he quickly broke your binds and caught you in his arms. he was fast to check for your pulse and your breathing. And thank the Archons, you were breathing but barely. You were now walking the line between life and death. With all his might yet a gentle caress, he hugged you for dear life. “Name... It’s me...”
But still, your eyes still held no recognition and it shattered his heart to pieces. With further inspection, he sensed the presence within you. A corruption. A certain evil.
“Name, stay with me please,” Xiao begged with desperation as he fought back tears. “It’s me who supposed to be the corrupted one between us, not you... I’m not allowing you to leave me, you hear me-”
With a ritual of the adeptal arts, he started purging and purifying the evil left by the god who fed from you. He is not letting you stay alone in your prison, not for a second longer.
Xiao prays and he never prayed before. Even to his master. But just this once, He prays with desperation. You are the light in his darkness. You are the moon in his night.
The ritual was a delicate process. For every word he spoke, he was rewarded by your screams of pain and the writhing of your fragile body. He wanted to stop, but he can’t. He had to physically restrain you from trying to escape from his embrace and from hurting yourself. And for every cry you released, Xiao merely shuts his eyes clos just for him not to see your pained eyes. Every now and then, Xiao speaks gentle apologies and words of encouragement for you. You were coming back. But still, the evil persists.
You writhed and scratched against him, until you were creating more wounds for blood to seep through. When it came to a point, you began pleading and begging for him to stop, that was when Xiao had shed a tear. So he continues the ritual, his prayers, and his apologies. They were arriving to a point where the ritual is reaching its conclusion but your screams only grew louder.
Please, just a little more...
Please, just stop...
Please...
The corruption disintegrated away from you in a forceful release of dark energy. He was breathing deeply, attempting to calm his loud heart. When he placed his gaze on you, you were breathing rapidly and your eyes were searching blindly and your hands were desperately holding onto him.
“X-Xiao...” You whispered, “Where am I? Where are you?”
With a sigh of relief, the Yaksha hugged you again closer and his forehead to yours, fearing you would go away again. The action made you lift your hands to his face, still searching blindly.
“I’m here, Name... I’m here.” At his voice, the dam in your eyes broke as you cried silently. Xiao was not adept in emotions, but for you, he will face them gladly. He lets you cry as he gives you soft whispers of assurance, safety, love, and promises. However, you were not crying because of what had happened to you. You were crying for him. After experiencing such corruption-
You sobbed some more- you were this close to him losing you and you could not bring yourself to imagine if your roles were reversed.
“P-please,” you said with a broken voice, “please don’t go to the place where I can’t follow...’
The words, at first puzzled him, but after a few moments, he realized and once more it broke his heart. Bringing you closer, Xiao let loose the tears he was holding back. With a gentleness unexpected of the Conqueror, he simply littered your face with kisses. “I promise if only you would do the same.”
With your smile that he loved dearly for so long you too spoke your promise, “I do.” They were simply two words, but the comfort they bring into the Yaksha’s heart was in volumes.
After that, you shared a few tender moments in each other’s arms. Simply relishing the feeling of their familiar warmth. A little later, Xiao spoke, “Would you like to eat some Almond Tofu once we get home?”
The question made you giggle at his innocence, so you agreed. Despite you needing physical medical attention. But Almond Tofu with him? Yes, you two definitely need some emotional healing.
A/N: fINALLY dONE lmao this was supposed to be short but angst really makes me want to write longer everytime haha~ anyway this request really made me ponder bout genshin stuff with all the corruption this and corruption that but then a question popped up like-
how did childe replicate the sigil of permission? since sigils are imbued with divine energy, i just thought how did this guy accumulate so much sigils to the point of freeing Osial- a god!!! soooo i just played with the idea for a bit then figured out maybe these pieces of paper get the divine energy from a divine source right? and the adepti are divine beings of liyue and another thing- you guys might have noticed the change of names in some scenes- i dont know but i think somehow different names represents different side of a person like- we have childe the cheerful harbinger then tartaglia the power hungry harbinger- there’s Alatus who’s calculating and cold, there’s the Conqueror of Demons who’s ruthless and unforgiving, then Xiao who is calm and humane- lastlyyyyy i might post this in ao3 ksks

"Grandpa Kokushibo" AU
This started as a simple little joke in those Muichiro doodles. And then it was just supposed to be a simple little drabble. A simple little Crack Fic. But next thing you know...
------
“You… you are my descendent…”
“…huh…”
Six flaring eyes loomed over Tokito, the two in the middle etched with writing. Upper Moon… One…
“Those eyes…”
Having been so locked on the demon’s eyes, he didn’t realize at first that it was talking about his own. “…huh…?”
“…They’re red… a sign… a Kakushaku-no-Ko… you have… potential…”
“……huh…..”
“Become… a demon…”
“…huh………. Huh!?”
Tumblr media
With little recourse to convince the demon to leave like he might attempt with a bear or a boar, Tokito brought the demon home. “Sweetheart? I, uh… a relative of mine is visiting.”
His wife, whose complexion was lovely even without the luxuries of make-up, smiled up sweetly from where she knelt, with their two young sons asleep on the futon before her. “You still have family? What happy news---”
The demon, Kokushibo, bowed lowly so that he could fit inside the door. “Good evening,” he said.
“…G…Good evening,” she gawked, her soft green eyes wide and locked. “A… a pleasure to meet you.”
“The pleasure… is mine.”
“Uh, so, it seems this is my great-grandfather of sorts. A great many ‘greats.’ A few centuries’ worth of ‘greats.’ What a coincidence that we’ve just run into each other.”
“It’s no… coincidence. I have… always been searching… for Sun Breath users…”
Tokito smiled with his face like puddy. “Sun Breath? What’s that?”
“…to kill them…”
Tokito and his wife shared a “ghh!!” as their throats tightened.
“I did not expect… to find the remains of the Tsugikuni Clan… out here… in this… dump…”
“I, uh, I sort of recall that name being way back in the family. But on the wrong side of the war, you know? We haven’t been a warrior clan since the start of Edo times.”
“A pity… but… no matter… you will have… a greater master to serve…”
“Um! Uh! Would you like to meet your grandsons?”
“Honey, what are you—”
Six eyes widened. “Grandsons?”
“I have twin boys! I’m busy raising them, I don’t have any time for swordsmanship, haha! All I know how to do is swing an ax.”
“Heirs… are important… they’ll do no good… as children… You,” he looked to Tokito’s wife, whose eyes were swirling trying to follow his gaze. “You do it. You raise them. I’ll… train my descendent…”
“Train…?”
“You may have… the ability… to attain the Breath… of the Sun…”
“D---di---di—didn’t you say you were going to kill S-S-Sun Breath users?”
“Why would I… kill my descendent…?”
Tokito was doing his best, but he was hitting his limits for how many more surprises he could take that evening. “Listen, I… I only want what’s best for my family. I want to watch my sons grow up, and teach them how to live a simple life out here in nature. Ancestor or not, we want nothing to do with demons.”
“My dear,” his wife said, some surprised admiration in her tone.
“I have to ask you to leave.”
“I cannot.”
“You will take ‘no’ for an answer!”
“I cannot,” Kokushibo stressed. “The sun is rising. Sunlight… will kill me…”
“…ah… oh. That’s a problem.”
“I’ll remain… here…”
“I’m sorry, I can’t have you do that. You’re a demon, and—”
“Defy me… and I will kill your family.”
“---GHH!” the Tokito couple swallowed harder.
----- The boys woke up to find a demon quietly sitting cross-legged in the corner. Yuichiro cried, Muichiro stared. Tokito didn’t want to scare them, however rightfully they should be, so he smiled and introduced the demon as their grandfather. Kokushibo politely bowed his head. The boys were quickly accepting. In his heart, Tokito cried and begged the forgiveness of his religious parents for not teaching them a proper distaste for evil.
In a battle of will, Tokito would be easily outmatched. But for however many years Kokushibo had on him, he didn’t seem like a quick thinker. Tokito might be able to beat him in a battle of wits. He had an ability that was sure to ward Kokushibo off, if only he could wield it with the right timing.
“If you leave me no choice, Grandfather, then I guess I must learn this Sun Breathing swordsmanship you keep talking about! Maybe you’re right, maybe I do have potential! I’d like to think all my practice cutting down trees makes me adept with a blade,” he smiled, his hands proudly at his hips. “Will you take a look this evening?”
“Yes… I eagerly await… seeing your potential… my descendent…”
Tokito grinned. He couldn’t wait either. In the meantime, Yuichiro and Muichiro spent the daylight hours at either side of the unusual houseguest.
“Grandpa, you have flames on your face. Do those hurt?”
“They do not…”
“You have as many eyes as a bug. Why do you have so many eyes?”
“Because… I am… a demon…”
“It looks gross. With all those eyes, can’t you see it looks gross?”
“I can see… a great many things…”
“Why are there eyes on your sword? Can your sword see?”
“My sword is made with… my blood… its eyes… are my eyes…”
“Is your sword a bug?”
“What’s its name?”
“Kyokokukamusari.”
“Kyokko…”
“Kyokyaku…”
“Kyokyakoku…”
“Kyokukuka…”
“Your tongues… are young.”
When evening fell, Tokito put his plan into action. It took no special effort on his part, all he had to do was trust himself.
“Yahh! Yaahh!” he yelled as he swung his ax. “Yaah! Yar! Yagh! Yuh!! Ya—AHHH!” he spun around and fell down, nearly lopping off his own arm. Perfect!
All of Kokushibo’s eyes, even the ones down his sword were blazing on him, and he waited for Kokushibo’s reaction. There was no fooling those eyes, which made Tokito’s plan all the better.
That demon would know!
“You are very…”
“Yes?”
“Clumsy.”
Precisely! This would chase that pesky demon off, wouldn’t it?
“I can see… it will take… many years… to train you…”
…no.
-----
The centuries had made Kokushibo resilient to setback, and time flowed at a different pace for him. “Become a demon now… and you will have… all the time you need… to attain… Sun Breathing…”
“Now, now wait!” Tokito waved his arms. He had taken the full next day to get his wits rounded back up, while Kokushibo resided indoors again patiently allowing the curious bos to poke the eyes of his sword, proving to them he was too powerful to be harmed by their tiny fingers. Yuichiro contemplated poking Kokushibo in one of the eyes on his face, but he hesitated when all six were focused on him, and he cried and buried his face behind his hands. “Wait. Wait. You can wait, can’t you?”
“Wait… for what?”
“If it’s inevitable that I have to become a demon, can’t you wait for me to be a human longer?”
“What good is there… in being human?”
“I want to watch my boys grow up!”
“I am a demon… I see them… perfectly fine.”
“Well, I mean, but, no, I mean, like, out there, having a normal family life with them. Working in the mountains, coming home, making food.”
“A human body… is weak… and will starve… without food… A waste… of time… to constantly…. work… for… Your body… will grow old… and frail… Become a demon… and these concerns… will vanish…”
“You—you make a compelling argument, Grandfather. But being human is good too!”
“How… is being human… better… than being… a demon?”
“I, well… is… isn’t it weird to learn Sun Breathing if I can’t see the sun?”
The demon’s eyes, every last one of them, went wide. Tokito had him! “You’re… right…” he said, stunned.
“Haha, oh, Grandfather! It’s been so long since you’ve seen it that you must had forgotten about it! All the creatures of this world are meant to be touched by the sun’s rays, it’s the natural way of things. It’s a blessing.”
“Sun Breathing… may require… practice… under the sun…”
“Haha, it may take a while, but I guess I’ll have to do my best on my own.”
“I will… train you… at night… and by day… you will train… under the sun…”
-----
The arrangement seemed to be working a while. Whether Tokito trained during the day or not (he did not), his progress was slow. His wife had come to get accustomed to the situation, knowing she had to make the best of it until the demon hopefully got bored and left. Having the boys so entertained during the day helped her get a lot of extra work done around the house.
“Grandfather,” she addressed him. “We got a great catch for dinner tonight, look at the size of this fish! What part of the fish is your favorite? I’ll serve that part for you.”
“Demons… do not eat… fish…”
“Oh, how rude of us. What would better suit your tastes?”
“Demons… do not consume… human food… we would… vomit it…”
“Ahhh… oh. Well, we can’t have that.”
“Grandpa. Grandpa,” Muichiro tugged at his hakama. “Then what do demons eat?”
“Humans.”
Muichiro stared, and after what felt like a long time in human experience, his face flushed and his eyes welled with tears. Yuichiro pinched his cheek. “Don’t cry, stupid. He’s only teasing you.”
“…oh,” Muichiro, red-faced and cheek still stretched smiled with relief.
Their mother, meanwhile, was blanched white, the fish still flopping around in her stiff hands.
--
“You’re not… making much… progress… could it be… you’re not… practicing… in daylight…?”
“Ah, ahhhh, yes, I’m afraid not,” Tokito sweated profusely. “That… that’s just part of being human. There’s so much work to do all day and then I have to sleep through so much of the night. I may never learn swordsmanship at this rate, hahaha!”
“Then hurry… and become a dem—”
“S-Sure must had been nice to be in a samurai clan back in your day, huh? Servants to do all the tedious chores and stuff so you could focus and train! May, maybe it’d be nice to hear some stories about when you were growing up! The boys would love to know their family history too, I’m sure!”
“…what chores…?”
“Oh, haha, oh, Grandfather! Did you not even know what chores were? What a charmed life—”
“What chores?” he stressed.
“Uhh---well---chopping trees, mostly.”
“Your ax… hand it to me…”
“Uhh… yes, sir.”
“I will chop your trees… so you… may advance… in your training…”
“Ye… yes, sir.”
-----
They had an excess of very high-quality wood on a regular basis. It sold so well on Tokito’s occasional trips into town that he found himself with more money than he ever had in his life. “Use it… to buy food…” Kokushibo instructed him. “Nourish your family… with it… buy warmer clothes… save your labor…”
Tokito had been raised being told that demons were evil, but he began to question that. They were all part of a world beyond humans, populated by Buddhas and Tengu and foxes, who was to say that their nature was entirely evil?
All at once, one night after months of the demon’s constant presence, he disappeared. Tokito and his wife cried with relief, and Tokito vowed to use the gifts the supernatural ancestor bestowed on them to raise his family well, and to never forget humility in the face of things outside their human experience.
But then he came back the following night.
“G-Grandfather,” he trembled. “Y-y-you’re back.”
“I went out… to feed. Now… continue… your practice…”
Inside, his wife cried on behalf of them both, for Tokito was too scared to anything but obey.
-----
Two years went by. With no choice, Tokito could not help that his swordsmanship improved. “Hhm,” Kokushibo nodded with approval. “Soon… I shall… find you a sword… no longer… a wooden one…”
“Aw, you don’t need to trouble yourself, Grandfather!”
“It is… no trouble… to steal one…”
“Well, what I mean is, I’m still so clumsy! Hahaha! Sure would be a waste of effort to kill myself by accident, wouldn’t it?”
“Hmm… you are right…”
“Hahaha!”
“I will… make you a demon first…”
“No! No, wait! I’ll keep practicing, I’ll keep practicing! Let’s hold off on a real sword until I’m ready!”
“You are… delaying… the inevitable…”
“And you are exceedingly patient, Grandfather!”
“That person… is not… so patient… he watches… and tells me… to hurry… and be done… with you…”
“Ghh!” he gulped as he went pale. He should never had forgotten his humility facing that which was outside human experience.
“Gra-a-a-a-nd-paaaa!” came a voice at the door of the hut. “Come fold origami with us!”
“I would… rather play Go…” the demon answered as he turned around and answered the summons.
“Go is boring!”
“You will… appreciate it when you are older…”
His wits. Tokito had to keep thinking with his wits.
-----
Another year went by. Kokushibo remained outwardly patient, but once again made mention of ‘that person.’
“He has… more tasks for me… than to be here… tonight… I will grant you his blood…”
“Wait! Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait!” Tokito raised his voice at him. This was it. He had to enact his next plan. “What are all these ‘tasks’ anyway? You still take plenty of time away to be a hitman, what else could he possibly have you do?”
Kokushibo answered very simply. “Look for… the blue… spider lily.”
“Ha! Spider lilies aren’t blue, everyone knows that,” sneered Yuichiro.
“The spider lilies are all dead,” said Muichiro. “It’s winter.”
If Kokushibo had twelve eyebrows, he would had raised them in their direction. “I… see… winter… of course… they must… be seasonal…”
“Are you senile, Grandpa? Of course they’re seasonal. They only grow in autumn.”
“You see big patches of them all of a sudden!”
“Autumn… of course… how could I… had forgotten…”
“That’s to be expected, don’t be so hard on yourself, Grandfather,” Tokito’s wife sweetly smiled to him. “They’re a daytime flower, it must be so long since you’ve seen them.”
“Daytime… yes… of course… they’re under… the sun… no wonder… it’s been… impossible… for demons… for a thousand… years… that person’s… blood… is swelling… within me… with… frustration…”
With the rising tenseness in Kokushibo’s voice, Tokito’s muscle sprung with their own tension. “N-no wonder! How sad! How sad that demons can’t go under the sun! I hope I never—”
“That person… will give you… more time. For you… must search… in the daytime…”
“Ghh…” he swallowed. “Y… yes, sir.”
“That’s stupid,” said Yuichiro. “You’re not going to find any in winter.”
“Yes… it’s stupid. You will… search next autumn… and train… until then… and…”
“……….and……….?”
“Play… Go… with me. These rascals… have no… appreciation for… Go…”
“It’s boring, Grandpa!”
“I’m trying, I can’t remember all the rules!”
“Let’s play Shogi instead!”
“Fine… lay the board… let’s play Shogi…”
-----
Two more years passed. Tokito had reprieve from his training during the autumns to search for the blue spider lilies, and one untimely fall in those searches gave him a much longer reprieve from training. His leg was badly broken, and he spent most of the winter bedridden.
“Haha… I’m still so clumsy…” he laughed, covering up that he also wanted to cry.
“And now we have to do all your work,” grumbled Yuichiro.
“Are you still in pain, Dear?”
“A… a lot, yes…”
“Become… a demon…”
“N-no! I’m still so clumsy, I haven’t mastered any of the Sun Breath yet!”
“I don’t want Daddy to get hurt anymore,” Muichiro said with tear-stained eyes. “Next autumn, I’ll go look for the flowers instead.”
“Ghh!” Tokito and his wife looked to him, helpless to tell their son to stop.
“Very good… a good child…” Kokushibo patted his head. “You will… be useful… to that person… too…”
It had to stop. Tokito needed to hurry and eliminate this demon, for the sake of his family.
-----
The following autumn, his leg still bothered him. On most days it was fine, but when it rained or when he climbed too stiff of an incline, the pain kept coming back. He could not use it as any excuse to skip his training, though, for Kokushibo would use that as an excuse to rip him from his humanity.
He kept up the training, as well as ventured out through the mountains to search, and ventured down the mountain periodically to sell the wood that Kokushibo cut. On one of those trips into town, he overheard the gossip.
“I heard it was demons.”
He froze to the spot and listened. He knew it wasn’t Kokushibo, for he was careful not to cause any incidents that would inconvenience the Tokito family—a strange thing that Tokito was sorry for being grateful for. But, perhaps if an incident had occurred closer to them, he’d have heard the following gossip sooner.
“The Demon Slayers are sure to catch it.”
“Demon Slayers?”
“Swordsmen with the sun in their blades, they fight with Breaths to take those monsters down.”
Breaths! Like Sun Breathing!
“Um!” he butted in. “How can I find these Demon Slayers?”
“How? We don’t know. Do you have a demon on your hands, Tokito?”
“…Ghh!... N… No…” he bit his lip and rolled his eyes back to avoid looking at them as he lied.
Maybe there was someone out there who could help him. But how would he find them without raising Kokushibo’s suspicion? The stress made it hard for him to sleep and gave him headaches. His could not risk any talk of this at home, but his sweet wife could see how it pained him, and she whispered with a light cough to let her and the boys take care of searching for the blue spider lilies.
-----
His wife fell ill. A common thing, for humans.
“I’m sorry, Grandfather. For now while I’m still human, I still have human responsibilities to my family. I need to find medicine for her. I’ll be back after I go fetch a herb that will help.”
“You know not where… to find… the blue spider lily… but know… the location… of… a little… herb…?”
“Yes. I’ll be right back.”
“It’s… raining…”
“I know exactly where it is.”
“Where… is it…”
“It grows on the side of a cliff near here.”
“You… know… of plants… on a cliff… but not… the blue… spider lilies…? You… wreak… of… a liar…”
Tokito ran cold.
“And… to think… someone… as… clumsy… as you… would… try… in this… weather…? You…”
This was not the time for everything to crash and fail. His wife’s lungs were in a bad state, if Kokushibo were to do something to him now—
“…are… more… idiotic than I thought… stay here… my… stupid descendent. No wonder… you take… so long to progress…”
The demon very soon returned, unbothered by how his clothes and hair left dripping wet pools throughout their home. He did not know which herb it was so he had cleaned the cliffs of them, allowing Tokito to sort through and pick out the ones that would help. Tokito made them into a medicine to treat his wife, and while it eased her coughing over the following day, she was still in a worrisome state. Kokushibo rolled all six eyes before leaving again that night, returning very close to dawn with his hands full of medicines. “Something… in these… ought to do it…”
It took a little careful trial and error, but a few of them turned out to be very effective, and she soon made a complete recovery.
And now, Tokito had a debt to pay.
-----
He made progress in Sun Breathing. Something was breaking through, making sense in his muscles. Kokushibo watched all the more silently with each night. They both had the sense that there was a change coming soon. Tokito was on the last of his wits.
The time Kokushibo spent around his sons, influencing them… it likewise had to end.
“Grandfather,” he asked, his forehead against his thumbs. “Where do we go once I can no longer be in the sun?”
“You can reside here… as long as that person… allows you to… you want… to watch over your sons… do you not…?”
“I don’t know that much about demons. But if I become one, they’ll be in danger, won’t they?”
“…I will make certain… no harm… will come to your family…”
Tokito closed his eyes with a sigh. “Thank you.”
“Of the two of them… Muichiro… may also… be of use… to that person…”
“Ghh!” his whole chest tightened as much as his throat.
He had let this go on too long. How could he find them? How could he find the Demon Slayers? How could he do without ‘that person’ knowing?
----- The sun! Whatever action he took, it had to be under the protection of the sun!
“Tokito, good to see you!”
“It’s been months!”
“You had us worried.”
And humans! There was a strength in humans he couldn’t forget, and must always find himself humbled by. Anything he could ever accomplish on his own was so small, but with the help of more people! “Thank you for keeping us in mind! My wife fell ill a while, but she’s recovered now.”
“Psst. Are you still, you know?”
“You know?” another one asked, biting her lip and rolling her eyes back a second. “You know?”
“Ah… ah!! Yes!”
“Not to worry, lad,” an old man patted his shoulder. “Your family’s fallen on hard times, and that’s a shame. We’ve spread word of your family, and it’ll reach the right ears soon.” With a grin, the old lady next to him pointed to a crow flying overhead.
“Ahhh!” his eyes watered, and he bowed so low his face nearly hit his knees. “Thank you so much!”
“Hold your head up, young man. Do your roots proud!”
Yes. Even if his roots were Kokushibo, he could not allow himself to lose his humanity. There was still hope!
-----
Tokito had to protect his family. This Breath had a power, a power strong enough to make ‘that person’ want to rid the world of anyone who could use it. Maybe it was ungrateful to hone it as a gift to his eventual rescuers, a weapon that they might use.
A weapon they might use against Kokushibo, the ancestor who had spent years teaching it to him.
After a long day of training in the rays of the sun and well into the night, Tokito returned to his home, already dark inside. Muichiro and Yuichiro were wrapped up in their futon and using Kokushibo’s knees for pillows. All six of his eyes opened slowly, focused solely on Tokito. “You’ve… grown much stronger… it’s time soon… for a sword…”
-----
A knock came at the door. “That’s odd,” his wife blinked her big green eyes to it. They were not used to visitors.
“I’ll get it!!” Tokito shouted with a smile and bounded over to it. Their cry for help had been answered! It had to be buff, strong swordsmen, ready to rescue them and eliminate the demon—
He pulled wide the door, and against the light, there was the silhouette of two small children, and a demure lady in a traveling kimono.
No, this was wrong. Something was wrong. There was something special about these people, but they were not the Demon Slayers he waited for. As his breath tightened, the woman searched his face with growing concern. One of the children at her side looked inside the house, starting first on the woman with the big green eyes, and then the two identical children with long hair, staring back at the door while their Go board was illuminated by the outside light, and then to the dark corner of the house, where a demon sat and stared back.
“Ubu… ya… shi… ki?”

Can I have something fluffy with gn reader x Law please? <3
I WENT ABIT MAD ON THIS. Law is like my best boy. I even have Law tats haha. so writing him after so long I was very nervous. I hope you like.
Law x GN reader SFW Fluff/Angst Words: 1,558 Not proof read oops
You had always wanted to go to sea, being a pirate wasn’t exactly what you had been thinking when it came to visions of the wide-open sea, beautiful sunsets and amazing adventures. But adventures you got regardless of the unforeseen career option. Your only real complaint apart from the dangers of the job was the fact that you felt lonely, being a Straw Hat pirate was great, you loved your crew but there was no one you felt a deep connection with, not the type you’d always longed for, someone to hold your hand, share a bed with.
That was until you’d met the surgeon of death, you didn’t think someone as harsh as him would have been your type. The way he always seemed pissed off and irritated at even being around your crew, the fact he just needed your captains help and had formed a hasty alliance that every moment of every day you thought he deeply regretted the choice, that much was always clear on his face.
You were shocked he didn’t have wrinkles with how much his brows were permanently furrowed, even when the man ate at dinner with you all, the way his stern expression never left his face. Whenever you’d glance at him you always thought he would be so much more handsome if he smiled.
Just like everyone that you’d come across during this new life of yours, Law was no exception, scars of a tragic past remained on his soul. You couldn’t blame him for that and at least he wasn’t ever nasty or ill willed towards anyone. He seemed to even get along with some of the crew. The less intense members.
Thinking back to the first night you really made progress with the heart pirate you recalled how it changed the way you thought about him. It had been late into the evening, everyone settling down to their own devices.
You knocked on Chopper’s office door, opening it before you got an answer, often the small medic had issues rushing from his chair and to the door to open it so you always just stepped in. “Chopper can you look at this for me?” you asked closing the door.
“The Doctor went to bed an hour ago.”
You gripped the doorknob, that deep voice certainly didn’t belong to the sweet fluffy reindeer, you took a breath, why didn’t you just wait for a response like a nice normal and polite person? You had never been in a room alone with Law until now. Taking a breath and telling yourself that your hand wasn’t going to get any better by just going to bed.
“Oh, sorry” cradling your sore hand close to your chest your eyes darted around everywhere you could to avoid looking at him.
He was sat at the doctor’s desk, a medical textbook open, a pot of coffee at his side. His normal irritated expression however wasn’t present, his brows relaxed, his whole posture in fact looked lazy, his long legs stretched under the table, he looked comfortable in the chair, like he was on his own ship.
“I can look at it.”
“Huh?”
He turned to face you, cocking his head to the side to give you his full attention, his gaze rested on your chest, or rather the aching hand you clutched there, feeling your own beating heart as he nodded for you to come forward.
“Are you sure?” You looked at the comfy stool next to his desk, inching towards it.
Your hesitation made him laugh, actually laugh, it was such a nice sound you decided, deep but smooth, you’d never heard him make any show of amusement, he hadn’t even cracked a smile in all the time you had known him. But here he was, the very person who had the reputation of being a twisted individual, a current warlord for gods sake, the surgeon of DEATH in fact, smirking at you as you nervously sat down where he’d gestured.
“I am still a doctor you know” another chuckle as he straightened up in his seat.
“I know I don’t look like one, but my father was a doctor, I learned a great deal from him, it’s not just my devil fruit that affords me my gifts” Law explained and crossed his arms over his chest waiting for you to go on.
“Sorry, I know you shouldn’t believer every rumor that floats out at sea, if I believed everything the papers or drunks in bars said I’d think my captain was the devil but I’ve seen that man with chopsticks up his nose, I’ve seen him sleeping like a baby, he’s no devil” You knew your nerves had turned into rambling, feeling your palms sweat at being so close with the other captain but his soft chuckle, under his breath, trying to be discreet. But you’d heard it, such a nice sound you mused feeling a little more at ease around him now.
“So?”
“Well, my hand hurts, ever since I climbed down from the crows nest about three hours ago, I think I got it tangled in the ropes as I slipped a little” You explained. Law nodded his head before he held his tattooed hands out.
You held your hand out for him, he gently took it in both of his, long nimble fingers moved over your digits, feeling different parts, he was surprisingly gentle, his hands warm and welcoming. You couldn’t help but stare as he expertly examined your aching hand. You felt your gaze drift from his hands, up his arms and towards his face. His expression was like nothing you’d ever seen on the warlord. Soft. The way his tired eyes looked over your hand, he seemed happy to help, in his true element.
If not for whatever plagued him in his past, would he have been happy just being a village doctor? He seemed at peace right now. You allowed yourself to smile, your heart beating faster for an entirely different reason then when you’d set foot into the doctor’s office.
His grey eyes met yours when he pressed a certain painful part of your hand and you yelped. He clicked his tongue pressed a little harder, flexing your hand in his grasp. You bit your lip and focused on where your hands met.
“Sprain”
“H-huh?”
“You sprained your hand” He pulled his hands away and you hated how your heart dropped at the loss of contact.
“Oh..”
Law pushed his chair out and stood up, walking around the doctor’s office and looking for things, opening a few draws. You did your best to stifle any laughter from watching the very tall man try navigating his way around storage designed for a very small reindeer. It was comical.
“Avoid using it wherever you can for starters” he explained pulling out a small box and returning to the desk. “Ice will help it; you should have come to me sooner about it but” yeah, he was a doctor alright you mused as he took your hand once more. “Ice for twenty minutes every two to three hours will help with the swelling, I’m going to bandage it up right now, a compression will help support your hand while it heals, I suggest elevating it as much as possible.”
You nodded along while watching him work on your hand, he did so much damage to people, you’d seen some of the things he was capable of, he was terrifyingly powerful. But the way he held your hand still, being firm but gentle was a side you didn’t think someone who’d swapped out people’s body parts and rearranged souls for what seemed like fun could ever be capable of.
“Come to me tomorrow morning and I can re-do it if needs be” you wished he’d hold your hand longer, but he moved to get something else, a little cup which held two pills.
“For the pain”
“Thank you” You watched him pour you a glass of water and handed it you, aiming for your good hand. You gulped the medication he’d given you and drinking the water to chase it down you let out a sigh.
Law simply nodded in response to your gratitude, saying nothing more as he got comfortable in his seat once more, taking a swig of his black coffee, no wounder the man never slept, you stood from your seat and excused yourself with a small ‘goodnight’ closing the door.
Walking along the deck, just the sound of waves lapping against the ship to keep you company. You turned the corner and pressed yourself against the wall, your newly bandaged hand laid over your heart as you stared out to sea, watching the moon shimmer across the dark surface of water. You felt your lip tremble.
The feeling you’d wanted all your life, the tight feeling in your chest, the fluttering of butterflies, all-encompassing feeling and desire to be by someone’s side. You were in love. You were in love with Trafalgar Law of all people, and you knew this wouldn’t end well for you.
You bit your lip, slowly sinking to your knees on the wooden deck of the ship. You could feel tears prick your eyes. This was going to hurt, worse then never knowing what it was like to long for someone.

Healthy Competition Transcript: 7/25/21
It's the entire thing so I hope this helps!
W: Hey.. Phil
P: Oh.. Hey
W: Hey, hey Phil how’s it going? How's It going man?
P: Oh, it's going, it's going alright.
W:I just thought I'd visit, Phil. I just thought you knew I would come and visit you. I haven’t seen you in awhile.
W: Phil I must confess I have come to you with a bit of a proposition. You into propositions Phil? Are you a proposition kind of guy?
P: Oh it depends depends, oh you, you’ve had some pretty lets just say not a great track record of propositions you’ve had in the past
W: I mean I’m trying to move past that. Listen Phil, I met Quackity after you kindly lent me your house, I went and met him, I met up with him, and I hadn't seen him in ages and it was nice, it felt good. He didn't seem afraid of me. Which is cool, not many people do. Phil, you don’t seem afraid of me?
P: No. No not at all
W: Good. Good because I’m not afraid of you. Uh.. Listen I met quackity and I hung out with him and I came to one conclusion about him and MY GOD the pricks resourceful aint he.
P: Yes.. he’s very.. he's one of the richest on the server at the minute. He's one of the richest people
W: What happened? What? You, you are telling me Quackity, the guy who made SWAG party, would be the richest man, geez I wouldn’t have believed you for a second but here we are.
But look, Phil, I am a bit of a propagator of the idea that capitalism shouldn’t be unchecked. You know the free market, maybe isn’t ever really that free you know. I am a bit into my interjection, you know the government interjection but there’s isn't a government anymore phi its anarchy it's pretty much what ah I see his name I see his name. (Ran boo)
P: Ha, Ha you see it
W: As much as I disagree with your opinions on anarchy. It's pretty harmless. I can’t hate you for it. I can’t hate you for literally living in a peaceful little village in the snow, I mean the server, it's never been this peaceful since the countries and nations and cities… So Phil I came to you with one question. Do you think quackity should be allowed to be left unchecked?
P: Uh no.
W: Do you think he should be allowed to grow? Oh you answered already. I agree with you Phil, I also don’t think quackity should be allowed to be left unchecked.
But you know what the problem is, there’s no Interpol, there’s no government, there’s no police force.. Technoblade spent this entire time taking down the establishment and what he's left with as predicted a POWER VACUUM for a new establishment to come in and this establishment is ahh ahh pretty unethical Phil its gambling, you a fan of gambling
P: Oh gods
W: This servers like 50% children Phil..
P: oh gods that's terrible.. yeah no that's awful.
W: ahh haha don’t sound too..
P: Gambling ruins peoples lives dude.
W: TRUE TRUE! And you know what He's getting away with , Phil. I have a proposition for you, I am glad you’re on my side and glad you agree with this Phil. I want to make a burger van.
P: Oh….
W I know when you heard of the burger van, you walked away. I get it. It's a bit of deja vu, but the difference is the burger van isnt gonna sell drugs. We are against toxic money making schemes now. We GENUINELY, genuinely selling burgers, I want to make burgers, I want to make every stake so it has a name. And. And uh (Wilbur re reads the book “Project Nevadas” Quackity left for him)
P: It definitely sounds better than the drug van,
W: yeah yeah yeah that's what I’m going to do Phil, but you see you need to understand I need someone to help me, because I’m not doing this for any reason outside of “I have an aspiration.. a goal in life to be a culinary expert” I want to be chef now Phil. I’m done now with being a President, being a government, being an authority, I want to be a burger man. I wanna sell burgers. That's my calling. That's been my calling all along. There's no ulterior motive behind this plan. I’ve got the real-estate, I’ve got the know-how and I’ve got the chutzpah (it's a yiddish word for guts basically woooo). Phil are you in?
P:I mean, ahh. You know I don’t know much about making burgers and burger vans, but I want to know who does?
W: Who?
P: Ranboo. He could help out.
W: what the fuck does he know about burgers?
P: he's literally the richest most knowledgeable person on the server besides me -
W: Phil you called - that's literally the second person you called the richest on the server. How does being rich climate him know about burgers?
P: Well you said you needed bread, you said you needed resources.. he has everything you could need.
W: What do you mean?
P: And also, he kinda knows… Right i'll be honest i'll be honest will, he's a little bit lonely, um there’s not much going on out here we are in a wilderness, a snowy blizzard wilderness right? Nothing goes on, nothing really happens here.
W: ha haha, sorry sorry. I didn’t mean to laugh at him being lonely. That shouldn’t of tickled me.
P: He needs something to keep him busy, to keep him occupied. He's done everything on the server, he's literally done everything. Give him, give him something else to do. Have fun.
W: I don’t want to. I genuinely don't want to. He's weird Phil. he's the weird neighbor kid.
P: oh STOP no stop!
W: Look at him he's that weird neighbor kid who's got something going on, you know maybe in the basement or something there’s something going on right.
P: he's harmless he's harmless
W: he's harmless now, give him a burger van and he might spatula me. Phil looks at me. Can you imagine a spatula through my skull? Huh?
P: That's not gonna happen. He’s very nice. Go make friends. Alright
W: All I need is a fire aspect sword, a bunch of cows, an anvil and some levels and we can do this Phil.
P: And he (ranboo) can give you all of those.
W: Oh my gosh stop making me play with the neighbor kids.
P: Alright stop I’m putting my foot down. If you don’t go play with them right now, I’m kicking you out of the house.
W: What the fuck?! What do you mean? Kicking? You can’t just kick- ohhhhh
P: I can and will.
W: Phil I’m ah…
P: Be nice. Go say hi, he's great. He's a great guy
W: Look Phil I trust you, I'll trust you this much, and I'll trust you that he's fine and he can help me, BUT if he's shit, you gotta come help. You gotta be burger boy with me.
P: I’ll be around, I'll be around, he's fine, you'll be fine, you guys will get along so well.
W: Thanks Phil…
P: You got this Wil, bye mate.
W: I don’t really want… What is this, why is he treating me like a kid? Like a little baby? Oh shit he's got cows…. Ah aH oh god I wasn’t built for this (gets attacked by a spider which he then crits the spider) There we go.. My man got cows. This bread as well?? No,it's not that he can farm apparently. Wait, that is bread. Wait… was that fire aspect? Is this a set up? I guess I'll befriend him… Knock knock - oh
R: woah oh
W: Hi Ranboo
R: Woah hello
W: You remember me?
R: Yeah I remember you. How are you? Its been awhile
W: It's been a little while, I mean we only met once, I mean I was just coming through visiting me pa, in his little cottage in the snow, very cute in the snow isn't it?
R: Yeah it is very nice
W: I just happened to notice you have a lot of cows.
R: Yeah! yeah I have a nice little cow farm, it's been pretty good for food recently so its been kind of yeah.
W: Can you hit one of them with your sword again please?
R: You want me to kill one?
W: Yeah quickly
R: yeah okay
W: Ranboo, I have a proposition for you
R: Yeah what’s that?
W: I know we have not got off on the best of terms but I'd like to think bygones be bygones let's bury the hatchet, let's be..
R: Yeah
W: Ranboo I’m gonna go out on a limb here, do you want to be friends?
R: S- Sure. I don’t see why not. You seem alright.
W: Cool cool. Thank you, thank you, you seem alright too. Can I come inside?
R: Oh yeah sure sure
W: I have a proposition for you.
R: Do you like my live laugh love sign?
W: Why is life capitalized?
R: it's the most important one
W: Ha, living is the most important one, living Is above laughing and loving?
R: Yeah it's priority number one honestly I just look at it when I wanna know what to do.
W: ha, okay, look look my proposition to you, um (looking at the ranboo rug)
R: Yeah its um it's my nice little rug here
W: We, we will talk in the hallway, my promotion to you ranboo was, as I have a dream of being a culinary chef.
R: Oh really! Thats nice
W: I’ve been doing a lot of things on this server. You know? President, terrorist, dead.
R: yeah that's one of them
W: I feel like the next progression is chef. Every, you know the saying….
R: okay…
W: All musicians wanna be comedians, and all dead terrorist presidents wanna be chefs. So I decided I wanna be a chef.
R: Okay! Okay.
W: I want to be a chef for no other reason than I like cooking okay?
R: Cool!
W: All I need though, is I don’t have much to my name. I have a lot of stones, I have some TnT, I have some stone tools, and a rabbit's foot.
R: Oh okay.
W: But I don’t have the cows, I don’t have the fire aspect sword, and I thought if you wanted to we could um you could we could be business partners. I’ve got the real-estate. I’ve got a great location. It’s gonna be bustling, with people eventually, there’s gonna be people coming and going, hungry too! They’re gonna be coming and going, in and out and in and out and we’ll be here
R: Yeah…
W: And get the money! We will get the money Ranboo.
R: I mean yeah sure I’ve been needing something to do, I’m down for that. That would be cool.
W: Cool, cool come with me. I gotta show you the real-estate.
R: I’m actually really glad
W: I see this as the blooming of a brilliant business relationship or a business partnership. Have you heard of Las Nevadas?
R: ohhh… yeah, yeah I remember I had an old, old cookie stand there awhile back that we just decided to abandon because it was just.. it was more just trouble.
W: A cookie stand?
R: It was more trouble than it was honestly worth.
W: Wait, you tried? You had a cookie stand?
R: I mean yeah….
W: Outside of Las Nevadas? So you did the cooking?
R: Yeah it was a little, yeah
W: Outside of Las Nevadas?
R: Yeah but then, but then, he the guy Quackity, he got all up in arms about it and everything because we decided to expand a little bit and then we just decided it was, it was too much troubles so then we kinda just, we kinda just left it so
W: So he didn't like it? He didn't like your selling of a cookie stand?
R: Yeah he didn't like it all too much. I don’t, I don’t know what it was but like it was just eh it was just more dumb conflict but eh ti was whwatever.
W: Well that's fine, that's fine because we’re Ranboo we’re not gonna annoy quackity… we can’t annoy him because we are simply put, gonna be making, I got the real-estate and he gave me the area and we are going to be making a competing business.
R: okay…
W: Because competition makes business flourish, the consumer.. Do you like the consumer? You’re a bit- a big fan of the consumer ranboo?
R: Yeah yeah, I consume things from time to time
W: Look Ranboo the consumer, the consumer is the one who does well when there is um conflict and competition right?
R: Yeah that makes sense
W: So what I want to do is make competition right? So I want to make competition so when Las Nevadas fully opens up and you can go gambling and stuff I want to make it so that people have options so people don't just have to eat at las Nevadas grills and such. So if they want they can come to our grill,
R: Yeah that's good
W: and the difference is that is that we will make our grill better than theirs and we will make lots of money and then quackity will be able to you know maybe have to make a deal with us and to maybe be our friend and and
R: But we are gonna do this respectfully right? We are gonna do something smaller and everything right?
W: Yeah I have the land and we can make it small and honestly there’s no reason for us to go further out then we need to because you know we got the location. So have you ever been in Las Nevadas or gambling Ranboo?
R: Well no, no one has actually been there when I’ve been there.
W: It’s very fun, gambling is very fun.
R: Ah
W: Gambling is what I would argue like the only reason to go to this Las Nevadas place, I mean there’s nothing else to do there
R: Okay…
W: Its like its ll that happens you know
R: Yeah just gambling
W: There's a strip club there Ranboo
R: OH yeah! For logs
W: You- you into strippers?
R: Um I mean all it just does is make the wood look different so it doesn’t really do much
W: It does make the wood look different. You’re right, you’re right Ranboo. Would you say you like Quackity? Sorry I’m really bombing you with questions right now - eh I just wanna, I want to pick your brain. I wanna know how Ranboo works.
R: Hmm no its okay its okay. I’m completely okay with it, yeah. Um I think that I, hes, I mean the thing is I just haven't seen him in so like long you know the last interaction with him I had was before the stuff that happened with everything else it's just kind of been I don't know, we were part of the same cabinet with New Lmanburg or whatever it was.
W: Cabniet…
R: Yeah Canbiet it was like…
W: A canbiet? Was this with Tubbo…?
R: Yeah yeah he had like me, Fundy, I was the minutes man and I wrote stuff down well they never checked my notes so I don’t know how useful my job was honestly. I don't know if they actually needed me but I was there.
W: Yeah yeah I know that. I know that feeling.
R: Yeah
W: So you were part of the old Lmaburg government? I didn’t know that actually.
R: Yeah, yeah
W: I thought you were a bit of an independent. I thought you were you know… so you would say you are friends with Quackity?
R: I mean yeah.. I mean I’m not really TOO much against him, but I mean yeah
W: Do you dislike anyone Ranboo?
R: Not.. too much I dont think. I mean there are other people I don't agree with of course but I think everyones just a product of what they have gone through and everything so if you understand that then you understand that, then you understand the person.
W: But don’t you think there’s sometimes allying yourself with everyone you know, it can actually make your life more complicated, more complex, more difficult…. more…
R: Yeah….. which is why I’ve kinda just went to live with Techno and Phil kind of away from everything. And try not to involve myself in that much. But then I just have a terrible radar of what is involving myself and what isn't so.
W: Right..
R: It's difficult sometimes.
W: It sounds like you set yourself up for a bit of a stressful, stressful life… So you don’t dislike anyone?
R: Yeah…
W: What about Dream?
R: Ummm yeah Well that's that. With Dream it's kind of like, all I’ve, all I’ve heard about Dream, all I’ve seen about Dream is just been the really bad things that he's done and everything so I would say I- I yeah I don’t really like Dream, but I mean he's also not really someone that it matters whether or not I like him because he's away in that prison for a very long time, so I mean, yeah.
W: With no trail.
R: Well I mean.. he… its
W: This is our competition Ranboo!
R: Oh!
W: Here's the competition
R: Okay. No ones really been here I dont think…
W: Can you even buy anything?
R: I don’t think they have half, half doors… they have
W: Smokers, Furnaces, they don't, it's just nothing
R: Huh.
W: It doesn't benefit the consumer Ranboo does it? Imagine you come here gambling.. First off the fucking door is shut
R: Mhm
W: Wait there’s a hole…
R: ohh… uh? that's interesting. I haven't been here in awhile, I just haven't been outside in awhile honestly.
W: Are we allowed… in?
R: I dont… I dont know.
W: It looks like crap Ranboo. Don't bother, it looks awful.
R: Oh, oh okay. Okay.
W: The point is this does not benefit the consumer right? This building does not benefit the consumer, it's just made to look pretty and make the consumer feel like.. lee do a test. I can promise you me ol, or should I say new pal, that this sign, I guarantee will not go. That will be here forever and that will never leave. (Signs that say “closed forever” “Quackity burger place is crap” “Go behind this building to better burgers'')
R: It's.. I don't know if abandoned is the right word, I don't know what you call it.
W: There we go, I guarantee these signs will stay there because they don’t care about the customer. They only care about looking cool and ooh ooh we got a restaurant, no they dont.
R: Yeah no one is really keeping it up.
W: Let me show you the real-estate. This is the best part, so come with me. Bah bum ba bum bum bum bum ba Oh ranboo, do you see the cock ranboo?
R: Oh that's what that is? I thought it was a clock actually
W: See that cock?
R: Yeah I see it.
W: That's our border. Well, technically, this wood is our border. This area.
R: Okay.
W: This area is ours. I’ve been trying to think of a name for it.
R: Hmm
W: I’m thinking about Paradise.
R: Paradice…
W: How’d you think about Paradise Ranboo?
R: Well I mean it could be good word play with the whole gambling thing.. pair of dice.
W: That is good.. you, you really are a smart cookie, a smart kind of guy.
R: Thank you!
W: Well, this is where I’ve been sort of working. So this is sort of where Tommy and I have been working. Tommy sadly couldn’t be here to help me, and um let me show you where I think we should make the burger van.
R: okay
W: Well I think it should be, it's to be close to the border so that people can access it and then get straight back to gambling. The customer, the customer, is happy, the customer gets their burgers and then goes straight back to gambling. How about we build it here, right here.
R: Right here? Okay that works. So what do you have in mind, you seem to have a vision.
W: 1950s… burger, retro. Red and white stripes.
R: Red and White okay, I have Blue?
W:Blue…
R: I have blue.
W: I’m not a big fan of Blue.
R: oh okay well I don’t really know where to get a lot of red.
W: Flowers… I can get you red. Ranboo you seem to be proficient, you can start building the van I’ll be back.
R: Alright..
W: Also, also give me your fire aspect, I’ll get the beef and then we can begin and we can get the bread.
R: okay uh here
W: Ran-orad, Ranaord? Ranord.
R: I name all my things with different puns. It's just Ran and sword
W: That's good, that's a good one, new friend, I like it. This isn't drawing any parallels to your cookie shop right? This is a completely different feeling?
R: yeah no the cookie shop I’m pretty sure, I don't even know if it was a cookie shop to begin with… because it was a little fortified if i'm entirely honest…
W: Fortified?
R: yeah did you not see like oh! That giant stone structure as you came in here and walked around
W: oH wait, that's a cookie shop?
R: Yeah
W: I thought it was like a, I thought it was like a palisade
R: no I mean tubbo told me it was for cookies but I’m thinking about it now..
W: oh tubbo.. tubbo.
R: I don’t think it was
W: See I like tubbo man, he's strong headed and he doesn't let people push him around.
R: Yeah yeah
W: Did you learn a lot? Did you learn a lot from him?
R: Maybe yeah, I also just, if people aren't willing to change their views or anything I find it unnecessary to mindlessly argue so.
W: So Ranboo you say this yet you show up in all the conflict. I’m not I’m not coming at you like judging you, I'm not one to talk about conflict.
R: Mhm mhm
W: But when I think of Ranboo I don't think of what a calm guy who’s neutral and stays out of everything, I don't think of Switzerland when I think of you ranboo, I think I think you're a bit more dynamic than that, why do you claim that you’re so peaceful and neutral and yet you appear in almost every conflict the server has had since I died.
R: I mean ah, that's because I’m bad at avoiding the thing that I don't like, which is, I don’t know it's it's weird. It's a weird situation that it's mostly my fault but I’ve been doing alright with it recently. I haven't been doing too much to anger people I don't think but I think it's just because I really want to help sometimes and sometimes I let my desire to help people get in the way of what I have previously said or previously claimed about myself.
W: Ranboo? Why did you come to help me?
R: Well because I think, well I need one I kind of need something to do and this is pretty fun, I like building little things and everything although they may not look too good and also I just think you can I think you are an alright person you know? So I kind of wanted to get off on a better foot from what happened before.
W: Why?
R: Just because I don't really like having the thought that people don't really like me.
W: No no not the bit about the right foot, why don’t you think I’m a bad person?
R: Well I mean I think you did bad things but you also went through things that made you that way and then I also think that you’re changed now. I mean if you ask me to talk to the older Wilbur before you died, for a little bit then yeah I would think you’re kind of not a good person.
But I think now you’ve apparently been away long enough, that I think if anyone goes away long enough for that long of a time that eventually they’ll have a thought of their morality, and everything and become a better person because of it. So, I'm hopeful. I’m hopeful. I like having a good amount of optimism.
W: Cool.. ah cool that's nice, thank you.
R: Yeah!
W: Uh, I think I needed to hear that, I’ve um, can I be real with you? Sorry Ranboo, you really got me. Fucking hell can I be real with you man?
R: Yeah sure.
W: I think I scare people.
R: I mean, yeah I do the same thing
W: No no, I mean I don't think I, I think a lot of people share your idea in trying to try… to keep me from hurting you know? They have seen what I can do and they don’t want me to do it again, so they adopt your emotion in order to do it.
Do you know I demolished his house and brutally ignored him? He fought for my country! And I ignored him. I didn't look at him. I didn't give him so much a medal, I didn't give him so much a rank, I gave him the lowest rank in the cabinet, and do you know what it took? Do you know what it took for him to forgive me? A “sorry” And I’ve, I’ve spoken to Tommy about Jack Manifold, and Jack Manifold is NOT the sort of person to forgive with a sorry.
Can you imagine if Dream said sorry to Jack Manifold? What has Dream done to Jack Manifold huh? Barely anything. I imagine if Dream said sorry to Jack Manifold, Jack Manifold would ignore him. Do you wanna know why? It’s because Dream is in prison, and I’m not. Dream! He's had his comeuppance and I’ve not! My comeuppance was apparently not good enough for these people, they are just waiting for the next thing, the next slip up and Ranboo I’m not gonna fucking slip up Ranboo. I’m different.
I’m not Dream, god I wish I was. Sometimes I wish I was. I wish I had that comeuppance. But Ranboo I’m not Dream and I’m not gonna be Dream and that's ahhh. I am living in eternal limbo again. I’ve been through limbo. I'm out of limbo and socially I’m still in limbo and man hearing you say those words that you said to me, do you remember what you said?
R: Yeah… I do?
W: You said “I think people can change” that's number one
R: Mhm
W: And number two you’re “scared if people don’t like you”
R: Yeah
W: I’ve been investing, I’ve been investing into the wrong areas Ranboo. I’ve been investing in the wrong people. Were kindred man, we get each other
R: Yeah, Yeah I’d say so.
W: We have SO much difference, but you know what the one thing we got incommon? Our strongest point? And you mustn't take offense to this, okay?
R:Okay..?
W: Neuroticism. Me and you are just as neurotic as each other. Just as nervous but the thing is it’s not our downfall you know? Anxiety isn't necessarily an evil trait to have. Anxiety is what kept our ancestors alive Ranboo.
R: Yeah
W: You? Me? Your Parents, whoever they may be, my parents, do you know how they’re alive? Because they were anxious. They didn't let another thing kill them, they didn't let another thing take them down. Our ancestors, the cavemen in the woods or the cave enderman, were anxious when they heard the lion roar; they were anxious when the wolf howled. And you know what they did? They went inside and they hid and that's what they did and that's why we are here today. Ranboo me and you are neurotic, and that's why we are alive..right now talking to each other and doing this.
R: Okay…… I really, I really do hope that's um a good thing.
W: Sorry, ha, that's uh that might have come across- I’m really sorry I meant um, I’ll go get you some more red.
R: No no I understand what you mean I think, we both are kind of thinkers I think well yeah, we tend to think about a lot of things. Think about a lot of situations and how people are affected by said situations. How we can make things better and although we may think in different ways the fact we both, I think we both think at the same level just in different ways sometimes.
W: I think you might be a bit braver than me and showing your true colors. I feel like, I feel like with you Ranboo I never have to guess your next move. I never have to guess your hand, you know?
R: Yeah
W: I feel like, I feel like life dealt us the same cards and the difference is you, you build your trust by showing people your cards whilst, I keep them close to my chest and I feel like that may be the difference. But I’m gonna stop psychoanalysing you so
R: heh
W: And let's… let's, Ranboo how’d you feel about thievery?
R: Oh uh ooh, what types? What do you-
W: I’m going to steal Las Nevadas cows to cook our burgers.
R: Oh oh okay?
W: And I’m not going to re-breed them. I am going to simply kill them.
R: Alright I mean, so you are? Are you gonna steal all of them? Or just
W: Nahh just enough so it's annoying ya know?
R: Okay um
W: Unless, how about this if this makes you feel a bit less uncomfortable about it how about if I steal all the cows unless they have a sign on them that says “these cows are property of las Nevadas” then I’ll leave them alone so unless they have an expressed sign that says “do not steal please” I’ll leave them alone. But if not… it seems like a good idea
R: Okay yeah
W: You’re really good a building vans
R: Oh thank you
W: I’m pretty good at building vans too.
R: Okay.
W: Okay I’ve got the steak.
R: Oh, nice
W: Pretty good, is that enough red for you?
R: I just need something to put the red on
W: Oh cool yeah, I can go find you some wool.
R: There could be some chests around. You know I found a full netherite block in one the other day?
W: Wait what?
R: There was just another netherite block in one of the chests, it was very interesting.
W: I’ve just restocked for us.
R: Ohh, nice I’ll put some of our building materials here. Oh wow, wait did you get, did you get all of them?
W: Yeah heh, pretty good yeah?
R: Oh geez.
….. [Talk about Minecraft mechanics]
W: So this is your cookie factory, your cookie shop, your giant fortress
R: Yeah you realize a lot now that it’s a giant fortress. Sometimes, sometimes I don’t realize things until they’re an afterthought.
W: How is Tubbo?
R: He's um, alright. I think he's doing pretty well.
W: What is he up to right now?
R: He's um he's just building around Snowchester you know? Not really doing-
W: Snowchester?
R: Oh you- don't know about snowchester? It’s basically just like this little- it used to have some people but then everyone just kind of went off on their own ways. It’s just like this little arctic area, a village he created.
W: A town?
R: Yeah basically!
W: So, Las Nevadas, Snowchester, - I thought Techno and Phil told me they were successful? Well just Phil I haven't spoken to Techno since, since, it happened.
R: Mhm Well it
W: Phil told me they were successful and there's no more nations and that there’s anarchy here.
R: Well it's not a nation it's literally just- it's literally just him.
W: What about this Kinoko Kingdom I keep reading about?
R: I have no idea. All they put down there was just signs and I havent heard anything about that honestly.
W: So there’s, there’s a lot going on Ranboo. What part do you play? Go on, You can't be THAT neutral, if you’re not a part of Kinoko Kingdom, then you must be a part of something.
R: I mean I guess you could say I’m a part of.. Snowchester a little bit? I think I’m mainly just um with Phil and Techno I’m pretty sure. It’s mainly, it's mainly just them and everything. Because that's pretty much where I’ve been living for awhile and all so.
W: And now the Paradise Burger Van.
R: And now the Burger Van I guess yeah.
W: Good, good! I’m coming back. Do you need more red or?
R: No, we got enough.
W: Then the final step is to name the burger and name the beef!
R: Name, name the beef?
W: Oh so another thing I wanted to do is to legitimize our burgers so it's not just stake right is to make a uh name for all our stakes so when they've had it you know our stake shop that they know this is our stake shop, and only the high grade beef. So we are all gonna name the burgers with an anvil and I wanted, I wanted to give them like versions and wanted to use an alt code so that no one could copy it. So it's like “hey you’ve got a volume one steak, burger steak” so people would come and it's sort of an NFT value to it. A bit of a you know, once you’ve had volume one of burgers then that's gone forever like versions, is this making sense? Are you following?
R: Yeah this is making sense, I’m following I think
W: Cool cool
R: Yeah
W: What do you think of calling the burger shop?
R: Hmm
W: I’m thinking of either Paradise or Wilburger?
R: Well Wilburger is funny
W: Wilburger is funny but it doesn't take into account the work you put in.
R: Hmm maybe paradise burgers might be good
W: What about Wilbooger?
R: Will- Wait a minute but then that means we have booger in it, and then they will make fun of it.
W: Yeah yeah, paradise burger has a meaning behind it. So like, you know paradise next to Las Nevadas. Have a think
R: Paradise…
W: Weeeeeeeeeeee, ding dong we got everything we need. Right, let me go to an anvil and think of a name. This has been good, this has been chill.
R: This has been nice
W: I feel like we are good business partners. I’m excited to show Tommy. What's your opinion on Tommy?
R: Oh he's great. Tommys awesome.
W: Agreed
R: Yeah. Definitely gone through a lot but I definitely think that has made him a good person.
W: Mmm yeah well you seem to think everyone going through something at least gives them some merit you said
R: Well I mean yeah. I mean if- if no one, the only really bad people are the ones who are just evil because, just because then they don't really have any reason why you know? Those are in my opinion the bad people.
W: Right
R: I don’t really think there’s that many bad people like that so yeah.
W: Let me find an alt code, I want to find a cool alt code for the Wilburger, let's go for a sunbeam
R: ooooh
W: This is sexy, what I've done. Here we go here we go The beef! The bread doesn't have to be named
R: yeah
W: It’s gonna be good. Here we go, here we go. Look at this!
R: Oooohhh thats cool
W: No ones copying that
R: Yeah especially the thing in the eye as well.
W: It's a watermark no one, no one can copy it now so we can sell those with one slice of bread on either side and that's our thing. That's our shtick.
R: Yeah I think thats good thats good
W: I think we are getting to the point Ranboo where we are almost done I mean I do have a question to ask you though
R: Yeah of course ask away.
W: Just gonna put the bread back. This is gonna be a make or break
R: Okay.
W: Come with me
R: Yeah
W: This really could be, could be a make or break. And what about the Wilburger Ran Van?
R: Oh thats good thats good
W: Cool cool, then we’ll have your name on as the co creator I won’t be ceo, I will be vice chairman of the wilburger ran-van corporation
R: Cool, awesome.
W: So here’s our completion ranboo you remember the signs?
R: Yeah? They are still there.
W: Yeah it's good innit? Ranboo I want you to smash the windows.
R: Smash the windows? Like how? How do you want me to do it?
W: Take this (gave ranboo a cobblestone block) hold it in your hand
R: Okay
W: Now break the window.
R: okay
W: More
R: Do more? Okay
W: A lot more
R: keep going? Oh uh oh
[Wilbur places down TNT in a corner of the competition restaurant]
R: Are you sure about that one?
W: Come here
R: Oh? Okay
W: You trust me alright?
R: Yeah?
W: Detonate that, its only in the corner to prove we are not fucking around
R: I mean it's just in the corner right and then it will, it will drop all the blocks
W: Yep
R: And then we can put it somewhere
W: We can put it in a chest next to it.
R: Okay.. ohh Careful! [Wilbur stood really close to the TNT so he took damage]
W: It’s alright
R: That was a little bit more than I thought
W: Picking up those blocks
R: Yep, I think we can just put them in the chests here I think.
W: Okay I’ll fill this in, you passed the test, good job man. You can go back to the van, I’ll be back there soon. Ranboo
R: Yeah?
W: I’m proud of you man. You, you’ve taken a side, you’ve proven you can choose a side and I’m proud of you.
R: Thank- Thank, thank you. I haven't-
W: You’ve got something to work for.
R: Yeah, yeah
W: I’ll see you around. I’m gonna head off after I fix this but you get to work on the Ranvan. See you soon.
R: Yeah I’ll get to work, see you soon, buh bye
W: see you soon man.
[Wilbur breaks one of the signs placed down from earlier then goes to the explosion site and writes a sign with the NFT symbol saying Wilbur + Ranboo Did this together and places a chest to put the exploded materials in a chest along with two diamonds]
W: ahh, I love that guy.

Author’s Note: Holy crap, can y’all believe I dove back into writing this fic after almost two years with no updates?! I’m still shook over it haha. I will say that this fic has gone way off canon at this point (I haven’t watched the last few seasons of the show and also didn’t finish the last few issues of the comics). However, I’ve had a vision for certain characters and events for the last how many years, so I don’t plan to change them just to try and fit canon. I also now realize that while I tried to make “you” as nondescript as possible, there are physical traits and actions of her character that haven’t been as inclusive of all potential readers as I had thought when first starting the fic 5 years ago. I apologize for that, and plan to be more aware of those things with any reader characters I write in future fics. My plan is to post a chapter update every Friday from here on out, until it’s over, so fingers crossed I can accomplish that. Enjoy! :D

Cloud Nine
You surfaced from the depths of sleep slowly, rather than the more abrupt jolt to consciousness that usually started off your days. Feeling cozy and relaxed, a slight smile tipped your lips in contentment. It didn’t take long to realize that the reason for your positive mood was the large, warm body with which you were currently sharing the tiny, twin-sized bed.
Eyes blinking open, you took in the delightful sight of masculine bare skin. You were curled up against Negan’s side, cheek cushioned on his chest and both legs were wrapped around his nearest thigh. The bedsheet was pulled up over your back and ended teasingly right above his hips. One of your hands lay palm-down on his stomach, fingers twitching slightly in delight at the feel of the hard muscles beneath the soft skin. You could tell from the curve of his body that he was sitting with his back reclined against the rickety headboard. You might’ve found his positioning odd, but you were still a little hazy from sleep and so could only feel happiness at not waking up to an empty bed, like last time.
You were on cloud nine after talking things out with him last night. Being able to work through a conflict together had been major progress, and you had been proud of yourself for laying down your boundaries regarding your here-to-stay friendship with Ben, as well as standing your ground regarding the situation with Trixie and the pregnancy test. It was important that Negan learn to trust you when it came to situations such as those, and it seemed as though that message had finally gotten through to him last night.
The fact that he had even come to your room and taken the huge step of apologizing for his hasty reaction still had you a bit in shock. The evening had panned out much differently than your original plan of going to bed angry. Instead, you had gone to bed very satisfied, and then woken up next to the man who was very quickly becoming essential to your daily happiness.
He must’ve felt you shift against him, one hand coming down to rub your bare shoulder as he gave a soft, “Mornin’, doll.”
His raspy morning voice sent tingles down your spine, even as your brain fought to stay awake. It still felt way too early to be sitting up and conversing, so instead of returning the greeting, you buried closer into his side and grumbled, “What time is it?” The words were muffled against his skin, nose pressed into his chest hair as you inhaled the glorious male scent of him.
You felt him lean over towards the side table. He must’ve been checking your watch, because he replied, “‘Bout 6:50.”
“Jesus Christ.”
“Language.”
“Hmph. Do you always get up so early?”
“It’s more productive than sleeping half the day away and being late to everything.”
That got more of a response, as you finally lifted your head to glare up at him for the jab. However, he didn’t notice, as he was too focused on the book held in front of him. It was then that you realized why he was sitting up in bed, a smirk crossing your face at the novel he had open and was intensely reading. You felt a spark of desire low in your belly, the sight of a sleep-tousled and naked Negan lounging in your bed while reading Harry Potter an unexpected, but welcomed, aphrodisiac.
“Thought you didn’t read ‘fucking kid books’?” you sarcastically asked, quoting back his initial description of the series.
You received only a low grunt in response, his eyes not leaving the page. You weren’t offended, since you’d probably react the same way to someone trying to interrupt a reading of Harry Potter. In fact, you were a bit jealous that he got to experience the magical world for the first time. His curiosity must’ve gotten the better of him when he saw it lying on your bedside table, and it appeared as if he had already read a small chunk of it.
He didn’t seem to notice you staring, his attention still focused on the book. In fact, he held the page a scant few inches from his face, eyes squinted into slits. The sight was a tad humorous, though you wondered how long he had been struggling to see the words.
“I thought you needed glasses to read?” you asked.
“Fuck, you always so full of questions this early in the morning, doll?”
You pinched his side hard enough to make him jump and growl out another expletive, before giving him a saccharine smile and lifting a brow expectantly when he glared down at you.
Attention finally taken off the book, he reached over and plopped it down on the side table before rubbing his eyes with both palms. “I do. Felt like it took me a fucking hour to get through that last page.”
The fact that he had continued trying to read and hadn’t easily given up, despite his struggle to see the words, told you more than anything how much he must’ve been enjoying the novel. A warm thrill settled in your chest at the thought of him taking an interest in something he usually wouldn't bother with simply because you enjoyed it.
The warm thrill morphed into more of a low heat and traveled down your body as your gaze refocused on his bare skin. Moving the hand on his stomach upward over his chest, your fingertips traced the outline of the tattoo on his left pec.
“What prompted you to get this?” you asked, curious if there was a meaning behind the skull and criss-crossed rifles.
Giving a low chuckle, he replied, “Youth and stupidity.”
Giving a huffed laugh in return, you trailed curious fingers over to the other tattoos on his arms, inquiring about each one as you went. Some had a story behind them, others not so much (you had tried not to roll your eyes when he explained that the revolver on his right forearm was the same one he had handled once and thought was ‘fucking cool as shit’). He also had a few scars on his upper body, some from before the apocalypse but most from after. You listened intently as he opened up about each one, drinking in as much personal information about the man beside you as possible.
Not wanting to stop the exploration just yet, you pushed up on your other elbow and journeyed over his throat, tracing his Adam’s apple before running your fingers delicately through the surprisingly soft beard framing his gorgeous mouth.
Capturing the questing hand in his own, he brought your fingers to his lips. The breath caught in your chest when he kissed the mostly-healed scar from the knife injury you had acquired a few weeks prior. Heart beating frantically at the gentle gesture, you smiled up at him when he released your hand and allowed it to resume exploring.
“So,” you tried for calm and casual, fingers moving up to lightly trace his ear before diving into his thick hair and mapping the streaks of salt within the pepper. “What are your plans for today?”
It took him a few seconds to answer, his eyes having fluttered closed as your nails gently massaged his scalp. You smiled at his obvious enjoyment of your touch, at how he had lowered his walls in this moment and was allowing himself to be both physically and emotionally vulnerable.
“I wish they were to stay here and enjoy this fucking delightful body of yours all day, but I have a meeting with my Saviors at eight.”
The thought of spending an entire day frolicking in bed with Negan caused a dreamy sigh to leave your lips. His eyes opened and zeroed in on your mouth at the sound, that magical tongue of his coming out to lick his bottom lip as he added, “Though, that’s still about an hour away…”
At that, he quickly rolled over so his lean body was pinning you into the mattress, his lips cutting off your squeal of surprise before it even left your throat. The hand still in his hair tightened, causing him to give a low groan and grind his hips down into yours. You tried to make a mental note of his reaction to the touch, but seeing as how there were no barriers keeping his quickly-hardening erection from pressing into your thigh, all higher levels of brain function quickly flew out of the room.
Bracing above you, he leaned down and started kissing your neck, a move guaranteed to make you melt. When his mouth descended over the curve of your breasts, you tried to lift your head to watch his downward progress but a sharp pang of discomfort at your scalp made you wince and try to jerk away, which only succeeded in making the pain even worse.
“Ow, wait!” you blurted, causing Negan to instantly freeze and look up at you in alarm.
“Doll, what-”
“You’re on my hair! Move your hand!”
Quickly realizing his mistake, Negan moved the hand that had accidentally been pinning a large chunk of your hair, and by proxy your head, to the mattress.
“Fucking hell, I’m sorry, doll,” he cursed, making as if to lift his body off you entirely.
Now wanting his faux pas to ruin the moment, you pushed his shoulders sideways and hooked a leg up over his hip before commanding, “Roll over.”
He hesitated for a moment before relenting, the two of you somehow able to switch places on the narrow, twin-sized bed without falling off. Once the semi-awkward resituating was done, he was on his back and you were straddling his hips. The move caused the sheet to fall off, exposing your entire body to his gaze. Based on the way his eyes grew hazy with lust as they took in your bared curves, not to mention his obvious erection, it was safe to say that he didn’t mind this change in position one bit.
Warm, calloused palms drifted up over your thighs, hips, and the sides of your waist, before cupping breasts that were begging for his touch. Leaning down, your already-hardened nipples pressed into his palms as you kissed him hungrily. Shifting your hips, you started rubbing forwards and backwards over the erection pressed between both your lower stomachs. You moaned into each other’s mouths at the sensation, pussy lips parting around his girth so that your wetness coated his cock, the fat head bumping against your clit with each slide.
“I think I like being in charge,” you purred.
Giving a dark chuckle that sent shivers down your spine, he replied, “Enjoy it while it fucking lasts.”
Planning to do just that, you reached over to pluck a condom off the side table, incredibly grateful to whatever deity helped you successfully open the foil packet and smoothly roll the latex down over him on the first try. Tossing the empty packet over the side of the bed, you wrapped slightly trembling fingers around his swollen cock and lifted your hips, lining him up with your entrance. Maintaining eye contact, you slowly slid down his length, mouth falling open on a whimper at the feel of him parting overly-sensitive flesh that was still a bit sore from the activities of the previous night. Despite Negan’s initial threat over you stealing both coconut oil from the kitchen and condoms from his room, his only “punishment” last night had been fucking you relentlessly into the mattress until you had multiple orgasms and could barely even remember your own name.
In spite of the slight burn as sore muscles again stretched around his thickness, you didn’t stop until he was fully seated inside. His cock felt so big in this position that it was almost overwhelming, but you sat up so that your hands were braced on his chest and used your thigh muscles to start a slow up and down rhythm.
His fingers reached up and pinched your nipples, causing you to clench around him. He groaned at the sensation, gaze becoming more intense when you slightly picked up the pace. It felt magnificent, but at the same time you craved more of the hard, rough friction that he had given you the night before. Body trying to find that friction on its own, your hips swiveled in a circle as you sank back down, which must’ve felt just as amazing for him as it did you, since he gave a strangled moan at the same moment his hands immobilized your hips in a bruising grip.
“Alright, doll. My turn.”
That was the only warning you got before he braced his feet against the mattress and moved up in you, hard. Falling forward onto your palms with a gasp, fingers curled into the bedsheet and hips writhed in pleasure when he repeated the move. He continued the sharp, deep thrusts, watching your face closely before wrapping a hand around the back of your neck and pulling your mouth down to his own. His tongue thrust into your mouth possessively, as if trying to claim as much of you at once as he could. The pace was brutal yet unhurried, each thrust feeling like a deliberate attack on your sanity as his movements drew fire over your skin and consumed you, body and soul.
Pressing down into him while leaning forward caused your clit to grind against his lower abdomen in the perfect way with each thrust, building up the orgasm that had previously hovered just out of reach. Breaking the kiss with a cry, you saw the expression of intense concentration on his face as he continued to move your bodies together in perfect rhythm. Breasts pressed into his chest and mouth panting at his ear, your body gave into his, letting him drive you up and over the edge, into the abyss of pleasure.
“Negan,” you moaned, muscles tightening then releasing as the orgasm washed through you. His answering grunt and curse signaled his own release, though he continued his driving rhythm through it all, wringing each drop of pleasure from your body until it collapsed limply on top of his.
Resting your head on his shoulder, you again traced over the tattoo on his chest, waiting for your heartbeat and breathing to slow back down to normal. Glancing up his body, you found him already looking back down at you, a relaxed and satisfied grin on his lips that was only witnessed behind closed doors, when the two of you were alone. His hand idly stroked over a piece of hair laying on your shoulder, the gesture making you think back to earlier when he had accidentally pinned you to the mattress, and the resulting ungraceful maneuvering to switch positions in a bed that was entirely too small for two adult bodies. A light laugh escaped you that caused Negan to raise an eyebrow in question.
“Just remembering your super smooth move from earlier,” you teased. You wouldn’t admit this out loud, but it was actually a bit of a relief to know that even Mr. Harem-of-Wives, Sex-God Negan wasn’t always flawless in the sack.
“Making fun of me, doll?” he growled.
“Maybe.”
Whack. The loud crack, accompanied by the slight sting of sensation against your left asscheek, caused you to jump and look at him in wide-eyed shock.
“Did you just spank me?!” you exclaimed.
“Maybe.”
Before you could form an appropriate reply, he silenced any retort with his lips. Shallow creature that you apparently were, the move worked, and when he pulled away a long minute later, your brain conveniently forgot why you were supposed to be coming up with a retort in the first place.
Negan glanced over at the side table, where your watch sat. Also looking over, you saw that it was now almost 7:30am, which meant he had half an hour to go back to his room and become presentable for his 8am Savior meeting. You were curious what the meeting was about, but didn’t want to ruin the perfection of the morning by bringing up a potentially serious topic.
“Much as I hate to say it, doll, duty fucking calls.”
Your expression must’ve showcased more than you thought, since he gave a chuckle and said, “How about I make it up to you by finishing our fucking chess bet?”
Interest instantly piqued, you sat up on his chest and replied, “The third outing?! Can we go today?”
He looked at you consideringly, before giving a slight nod and agreeing. “We fucking could, but I won’t be free until the dinner hour.”
Much as you didn’t want to skip out on your duties, even if it was with the leader of the establishment, you also weren’t about to turn down more alone time with Negan, especially outside of the Sanctuary.
“I could meet you at the front gate at 5?” you suggested. That would give you just enough time to make sure dinner was fully prepped and almost ready to serve, since the community ate their meal from 5 to 7pm. It lessened the guilt, since you wouldn’t be completely leaving Ben and the staff short-handed.
“Works for me, doll,” he said, gently rolling you off his body and to the narrow strip of mattress free beside him.
Biting your lower lip to keep from gasping at the empty sensation when he pulled out his now-flaccid dick, you watched him rise slowly from the bed. You took possessive pleasure in viewing his naked body, thighs clenching at the sight of him stretching muscular arms up towards the ceiling with his head tipped back. The pop of his back and resulting grunt made you comment, “I think from now on we might be better off in your bed. I have no clue how we even managed to fit in mine all night.”
“Thank fucking god. If I have to spend any more nights in that fucking thing, I’ll be stiffer than a cock in a brothel.”
Rolling your eyes at his that’s-so-Negan one-liner, you pulled the sheet up over your chest and settled in to watch him get dressed. You felt a bit like a voyeur when he removed the condom, tied off the end, and tossed it into the little garbage can. You felt a lot like a voyeur when he leaned down to pick up his boxer briefs and the sight of his bent-over ass almost made you whimper out loud.
“You sure you can’t skip the meeting and stay here?” The words left your lips before your brain could even stop them.
Turning to look at you, the desire must have been written all over your face because that muscle in his jaw ticked and he ran a hand down over his beard in obvious frustration. You swore he started to take a step back towards the bed, but he caught himself and instead returned to the task of getting dressed.
When he was done putting on the navy tee and dark grey pants, complete with his signature black boots, he did finally come back over to the bed. Leaning down, he cupped a warm hand possessively around the side of your neck and placed a heated kiss on your lips before slightly pulling back and saying in that sinful, husky voice, “5 o’clock, doll. You better be ready for me.”
With that, he straightened, crossed the room, and let himself out. As the door clicked softly shut behind him, you replied with a dazed, “Yes, sir.”
