Ok, so I know in Dark Knights of Steel, all of the Robins met each other on the streets… but like… did they all have to? It changes their age gaps and what makes elements of their characters unique to them, so I’m going to fix it so it stays similar to canon.
First, with Dick. You can keep his circus background. You can keep the murder of his parents. Maybe an individual with magic casts a beam at his parents and they die. And Bruce sees himself in Dick that he takes him in. And Dick trains to be a knight from the moment he’s in the castle because he wants to protect the kingdom.
You can also keep Jason’s background, but him and Cass being family friends (Willis Todd having that connection with Lady Shiva) but Jason is recently orphaned and Cass is running away from David Cain. They have to steal to survive, but if they have extra, they try to help out other kids their age. They then meet Steph, who saves them from her Dad, (idk what was going on tho— he was probably trying to steal what they stole or smth) and they’re all really close. Maybe they meet Duke. Maybe they don’t. Who know
Jason steals from a Bruce who’s in disguise, and Bruce takes him in, but Jason’s like ‘wait! I have a friend’ and Bruce takes in the rest of them. (Not Steph, because Steph has parents, but she gets free training as a knight)
Tim comes from a noble family, so I would like to think they run the same circles, but they all stray to get to know each other in training.
Damian is a surprise baby. Like usual.

Batman Quest To Get A Birkin Bag
Ok so I have a very indulgent, SuperBats head fanfic that keeps me company on days that I forget to charge my earphones while walking my dog and to bore my wonderfully accommodating friends over dinner.
Long story short it’s a character study about Clark after his death. Doomsday kills him becuase we do not subscribe to Synder movies in this household.
Mostly its about Bruce grieving and reflecting on his ten+ year marriage with the man of steel with a large helping of the Justice League members bonding and finally getting to know Bruce and in turn Clark. (Kal never really got to say specifics about his life because Bruce wanted to keep his identity secret therefore a lot of Clark's life was private.)
For most of the fic Clark’s dead. But I'm one for angst with a happy ending so he comes back. How he comes back I have all kinds of versions but I just want to share this really silly one that I’m slightly obsessed with.
It’s about two years after Clark died. Currently, Bruce and Hal are off-world for a two-month mission. Shortly after they leave the League are battling some sorcerer who's in possession of a Jinn. During the battle two of the three wishes are used and at the end it's Flash who gets to use the last one.
He wishes for Clark to be revived back to life.
Jinn says he can't do that
Flash thinks of course just like in Aladdin you can't bring the dead back, make someone fall in love or wish for more wishes.
The Jinn is like how dare you think that's not within my power of course I can bring back the dead, I can't bring back Superman because Clark's not dead. he's just in his grave too weak to break out of his grave due to the lack of sunlight.
Flash hears this and immediately rushes over to dig up Kal.
The next month and a half are all about Clark adjusting to the changes over the last three years (Like having a new kid at the manor: Tim) Meeting new members (Green Arrow, Martian Man Hunter), and really bonding with his teammates ect.
While waiting for Bruce's return Clark asks Barry what he'd like.
Barry is confused
Clark clarifies that Barry was able to bring back one of Bruce's loved ones “to life.“ That’s never happened and for a man like Bruce who loves deeply for his family he going to be very grateful and he will not take “I’m just glad I could help” for an answer. So Barry needs to think of something or Batman will.
Barry doesn't know what to ask for but knows that Bruce is rich. He figures this would be a great time to get that designer bag that Iris always wanted but they could never justify ever buying. (Listen I don’t know if Iris is a designer girly but in this fic she really just likes this one bag.)
So Bruce and Hal get back and after the big celebration party, the JL held for Clark and Bruce's reunion. Bruce approaches Barry thanks him and asks if there’s anything he can do.
Thinking Barry is going to ask for a house, pull some strings with his Brucie persona so he can better his life at his job or status. Maybe ask for Bruce to fund or set up a wellness program for people in Central City.
But Barry is just like: Uh well Iris has always liked this bag.
And Bruce is thinking Really Barry You brought the love of my life back to life I’d move mountains (without Clark’s help) for you and you want some designer bag for your wife?
Bruce: Do you have a picture?
And as soon as Barry shows him the bag Bruce knows moving mountains would be so much easier.
The bag Barry wants to get is a Birkin Bag.
Now if you know anything about Birkin bags 1. they’re stupid expensive. 2. If you can afford one that doesn't mean you get to buy one. Hermes the company that makes them has this irate practice that you have to work up a good relationship with the store and the sales associates in said store to even get the privilege to buy a Birkin (usually by buying a ton of other Hermes products you don’t want.) Sometimes you buy half the store but if you’re not a high-profile client or they don't like your image they just brush you off and postpone your chance to ”buy” a Birkin. And if you do all of the above prerequisites You don't even get to pick the bag they "give" you one. Want a pink colorway? Sorry here's lime green you're welcome.
Now Barry has no knowledge of any of this and just thinks a Birkin is just some overpriced bag. The problem is Iris only likes this one colorway ( Size 35cm, Red Alligator Exterior, Gold hardware, Yellow Slik interior ect.)
This is going to be near impossible.
But In Bruce's mind, Flash did the impossible in bringing back Clark (Bruce thinks Clark was wished back to life because that's the story everyone is sticking to. Because the emotional trauma of letting Bruce know that Clark was alive the whole time rotting away in a grave for 2 years is not on anyone’s todo list.) So he will get this bag Even if it kills him. He's the goddamn Batman.
And all this lead up is to what I'm actually obsessed with
I just love the idea that Bruce is running around Brucie-ing it up to try to get in Hermes' good graces but his image of being a drunk playboy is activity stopping him from buying any bag.
He calls up the Daily Planet and starts setting up all these puff PR-boosting articles to up his image. Which starts rumors becuase Burce Wayne doesn’t do interviews so why now?
Gotham elite catches wind that Burcie Wayne wants a Birkin richest man in America can't get one. So they all start getting Birkins. They ware them to his galas, just to troll Burcie. The elite jump on the waitlist inflating the list to stupid long. Hermes starts to wear the exclusivity of Brucie Wayne as a sign of good taste and prestige. Bruce searches the second-hand market and can't find the colorway Iris's wants.
Bruce goes undercover as a worker for a local Hermes store to become his own sales associate just so he can get around the prejudices of Bruce Wayne image and start racking up a sales history. (He just selling and buying to himself lol.)
So Bruce is playing a luxury salesman using his background of old money and Alfred’s butlering to woo potential buyers. Working his first retail job ever. Having to suck up to management so he can plead his case about Bruce Wayne. Using his access to get informed on what bags are currently available, who’s on the waitlist, where they rank, and criteria on how and what moves you up the list ect.
After months and becoming the number one salesman, he makes his case to allow Brucie Wayne to buy a bag.
It’s declined.
So he switches tactics.
He just makes a new cover as a recently won lottery winner looking to burn cash and wants to burn it with Hermes. And starts a new sale history. Using all of his knowledge and intel about what gets you on the waiting list.
He gets stonewalled a few times by former co-workers that he gets around by blackmailing them with gossip and infractions he witnessed or was told In confidence when he was a fellow sales associate.
Finally, his lottery winner persona is put on a waitlist. The only problem is he’s at the very bottom.
So what does he do?
He suties up As Batman and starts intimidating all those who are higher on the list than his lottery winner cover rocketing him up the list.
He hits a roadblock when he tries to scrace a woman on the list who doesn’t believe he’s actually Batman becuase “Why would Batman even want with a Birkin?”
Which leads to an escalation that gets him an earful from Superman who’s called to the scene by said woman whos terrified after Batman strings her upside down over the edge of her high-rise penthouse.
Clark offers to buy the bag becuase who wouldn’t want that kinda of PR endorsement?
Which Bruce vittamently refuses becuase it would cheapen the gift.
Finally, after a week of terrorizing wait-listers, his lottery winner persona is “given“ the opportunity to buy a bag.
But disaster strikes when that lucky break he thought he got because he was next on the list was actually bad luck becuase the person was bumped off becuase they bought the bag that Bruce had painfully calculated to purchase which was the only bag that would be made in the next 3 years that has the colorway that Iris wanted.
So Bruce tracks down and comforts the buyer in the dead of night as Batman. The buyer freaks out and says they didn't even want this colorway and really wanted a Caranery yellow ostrich skin colorway and if he could get her that one she'd trade for it.
This leads Bruce to play matchmaker for a series of buyers that have Birken Bags they don't love and would trade for their dream bag. And after months of fetch questing and matching sad Birken owners around the world with their dream bags Bruce he pulls it off. He finally gets a Canary, yellow ostrich skin colorway Birkin bag trades it for Iris’s dream bag. Only to find out it was ruined in a car crash that was caused by an alien invasion 2 months before that the JL had a particularly nasty time with and it was Bruce’s Batmobile that was thrown into her parked car.
The bag is a mess the zipper borken, missing hardware, leather scratched. But Bruce so done with everything accepts the trade and takes it back to the cave. Where he proceeds to 3D scan the bag then composite a CAD model and starts to collect all the raw components of the bag himself.
Getting only the best materials (much better than what Hermes was using) Talking to Killer Corc on how to find the best alligator pelts. Flying to India to personally pick out the red dye for the color. Mining the gold for the hardware from an asteroid that was threatening the Watchtower.
After he has everything Bruce proceeds to by hand construct an exact replica of Iris's dream bag. Essentially making the most over-budgeted fake to exist. Where he finally gives it to Barry (who has no inkling of the time and effort Bruce has put into this side project that has taken the better part of a whole year) who jokes in saying “Oh wow takes 12 months to run to the store huh?”

Ooh the angst of that idea... the insidious "it was for your own good Bruce, everyone's been telling you to retire for years" "we just wanted to keep you safe, you need to understand". Not understanding that Batman and Bruce are the same person. Bruce having to use his "Brucie" tactics to placate the people imprisoning him and communicate with his charges.
I see a lot of stories that center Batman's fighting prowess, and fewer that focus on the soft skills he has; the classic detective abilities like investigation, getting people to spill secrets, finding sneaky ways out of difficult situations. I feel like a situation where he's in this gilded cage, supposedly in the safest place in the world, having people assume he's siding with the enemy when he's actually walking a tightrope every day...it's so much fun as a concept
Right?? I'm frothing at the mouth thinking about what Bruce Wayne, in all his subdued glory, would teach to a budding class of superpowered teenagers. Especially with Kal's teeth hovering over his neck.
I could easily see Kal and Diana justifying it like you did above. Bruce isn't old, but he's vulnerable. And he's good at training Robins -- his proteges go on to be even more incredible than almost any other powered sidekick. So what could he do with a powered one?
I'm really thinking about writing this now, and I'm throwing around the idea of it being from Duke's POV, as a powered recruit who wasn't close with Bruce and the Batfamily before things went south. They have Gotham in common, and maybe that's what snaps Bruce out of it a little.
Or maybe Duke sees, both with powers and with his own mind, what the other recruits haven't this far. That this is a gilded cage, and Bruce is slowly being abused by Kal and Diana, who were supposed to be Earth's protectors. And he lets it happen, because he loves his kids more than anything. And beating commons sense into recruits helps him feel like maybe, somewhere, they could help keep his kids safer too if they ever crossed paths on the field.
Bruce raising a whole generation of highly-skilled field members purely because of the noose around his neck is so compelling to me.

Okay, so while I do loathe the tendency of DC to become completely centered around just the Bats and Kryptonians; I do love when a strong dynamic between two of them is formed and becomes a core part of how fans view the characters. Not just shipping, but that too.
Like... We have the classic chums, Bruce and Clark, constantly steeped in homoromantic tension, regardless of how little DC want to admit it, but also from that closeness we got Nightwing: a hero raised by Batman but more interested in being a part of his "uncle" Superman's legacy.
Then, when Kal-El's estranged cousin and Batman's commissioner friend's daughter meet, Supergirl and Batgirl form a recurring duo that for awhile was just as shippable if not more so than Clark and Bruce. (And tbh it's kinda a shame that we rarely see Kara and Babs hanging out during Oracle storylines)
And after the deaths of Jason Todd and Superman, two unlikely teens stepped in to try to fill those roles before either could pull their rendition of a phoenix rising from the ashes: Tim Drake and Kon-El: the Robin that found Batman and the clone that would be Superman. Both struggling with who they wanted to be and who they were expected to be at birth, but united by that with a team of similar young people that wanted to just be themselves. (And possibly the most shippable duo in the whole lineup)
Later into their lives, both heroes found themselves with sons. One by choice, the other by circumstances out of his control. These sons were Jon Kent and Damian Wayne: the first naturally born half-Kryptonian/half-human eager to get into the heroing whist his parents desperately try to make sure he gets to just be a kid, and an assassin trained from birth that chose his father's kinder mantle over his grandfather's castle built on bones. Both stuck between halves and initially stuck together because of who their parents were. Despite their differences, or possibly because of them, they each found the other to be a kindred spirit, and grew to be inseparable friends with so much potential between them that their respective families basically dread the two of them without supervision. (Tho arguably they were more primed to work well together than Damian would like to admit, as Dick Grayson, then former Nightwing, had been the Batman to his Robin and his surrogate father figure for much more of his early hero days than Bruce had.)
And then, after many a death, rebirth, reboot and retcon, we find two cast-off members of these families... Jason Todd: an anomaly caused by a fracturing multiverse, his past even more a patchwork after that multiverse rebooted and then again when his found family of Outlaws regained their previous timeline friends and memories; and the third Bizarro of post-Flashpoint Earth One: fated to follow in some of the footsteps of Bizarro No. 1(the third Bizarro pre-Flashpoint) but cast aside for not being the same as the second Bizarro of his own timeline, who sacrificed himself to save it. Brought together thru meddling by Lex Luthor along with Artemis, an Amazon who'd also been uprooted from her past's continuity, they became like family; Jason and Artemis helping Bizarro to find who he wanted to be for himself and all finding some semblance of peace in a world that accepted none of them with open arms.
(Yes, I could get into Diana, Donna and Cassie's wonderful dynamics with their respective Bats and Kryptonians, but they're not as integral to the meeting and dynamics of the others, and the WW family isn't as frustratingly all consuming of the DC comic lineups)

The sun was just rising in Metropolis' horizon, the beginning of a new day after a tough night of patrol, but Batman was apprehensive still. It had only been a week since... that happened.
What was wrong with him? How could he betray his best friend like that? He knew that the answer to said questions was simpler than he'd ever admit out loud — or even to himself.
The truth was that Bruce had a certain fondness of Superman. Of course he did, the guy was practically a demigod, but that wasn't all there was to him.
The little tweaks, the smallest details, everything came as an overwhelming wave of respect for the man that he couldn't keep buried no matter how much he tried to.
Much to his demise worked that fact, since he'd rather not go through such an experience again.
A week ago, when they had just finished defeating a team up between Joker and Luthor and dropped both at Arkham, they found themselves at the Batcave, as they'd do after an exhausting fight. To catch up, aid each other, finish mission reports, etc. But this time, Bruce wasn't having it.
Earlier, in the fight, Superman launched himself straight into a kryptonite cannon, almost having it explode in his face. If Batman hadn't rushed him out of the scene in time, the Man of Steel would be long gone. He couldn't bear to even think about such absurdity.
Resting under the yellow sun lamp, he looked pure and innocent, like Clark Kent. But also wise and powerful like Kal-el, Son of Krypton. Bruce loved that about him, how he could conjure up the best of both worlds, become the strong hero Metropolis needed while keeping his true self immaculate by the darkness that came along the life of a vigilante.
Batman, cowl off, marched up to the sapphire eyed man with a clear scowl on his face, already scolding him for going off the plan. That he had been an idiot, prepared to let his life be ended if it meant a greater good. Bruce knew that it didn't make Clark stupid, but he had to let that concern out, even if only as anger.
Why couldn't he understand it, that Bruce simply couldn't lose him? That Clark is way too important to be wasting his life on the field like a pawn on a chess board? That, without him, the world would be lost? His world would be lost. He finished his snarky comments ready to move onto the report, when Clark made a sound.
Oddly enough, there was a mocking scoff coming out of the other's mouth.
"So you're allowed to risk your life everyday, but I can't, just because I have powers?" a smug smile. He knew the man was kidding, but the joke felt somehow offensive to him.
"Yes. I'm more replaceable than you; if I went missing or dead, Dick would wear the cowl and keep--"
"But he wouldn't be you." His tone shifted, still soft, but to a seriousness. It was like patting thick wool: solid yet comforting. Eyes glistening with the yellow light; cuts and bruises on his skin fading away like clouds in the wind. "And I wouldn't be me.
A Superman without a Batman just isn't the same, B. I'd probably lose my mind if it weren't for you holding my head in place. Sometimes I get scared thinking of it but... I just wanna spend, all the time that I can making sure that I'll be there when you need me..."
And he could tell, Bruce could tell Clark wasn't sure what that meant himself. If these feelings ran any deeper than their friendship, or made it stronger, or somehow both. He knew the younger man was still speaking, but he crouched and let himself come closer as words flew in and out of his ears. Soon Clark was quiet, staring at the icy ebony eyes that pierced through his own with furrowed brows, but a warm smile, revealing his internal conflict.
The older hero took it as a sign and went in. That was the worst mistake of his life.
Clark stood completely still their lips touched, tensed up at the shoulders, the stubble from Bruce's face rubbed his chin once, then twice, then gave up as the Knight retreated slowly. Then abruptly turned his back on the other, counting his heartbeat down; cape swirling like the wish he had to hide from under that sweet glare.
"Bruce, I..."
"Forget this ever happened. It was just a... moment of weakness. I'll finish the report later."
He didn't look back as he climbed up the stairs up to the Manor; he had a feeling that Clark knew he expected the Cave to be empty when he returned.
As he watches the rays kiss the golden buildings, a blue streak comes alongside a gentle breeze. Clark has been trying to talk about that day ever since — probably to let his friend down slowly, Bruce thinks to himself with pain in his chest — however it wasn't easy to get the Dark Knight to openly discuss his feelings.
This time, he had nowhere to run. No excuse. He wasn't in his city now; he couldn't run to the gargoyle's shadows and disappear. Bruce just couldn't bear to feel this pain any longer, it messed with his brain, it became an obstacle that had to be overcome. He couldn't stand in Superman's way any longer.
As the floating figure made his way closer, slowly, both tried to look confident. It's a force of habit, of course, until Clark broke it by pulling his lips in a brief loop sided smile, greeting his companion. It was ridiculous how Bruce had always wanted to kiss it and, when he did, it was the end of their friendship as he knew.
He sighed internally and braced himself against inevitable rejection.
But it never came.
"Do you regret it?"
"What?" he tilted his head upwards.
"Do you regret it." Clark repeated in another mumble, although he knew the Bat had heard it perfectly.
"No." Bruce let his chin fall again to his chest, gaulets holding onto each knee. Clark sighed.
"I wasn't exactly raised somewhere where people knew what sexualities were, B." he whispered, insecurity all over his usual bright voice.
"I've met your parents. They seem very accepting, in every way." that was their way of saying they adopted an alien they found in their yard, why would they mind if he liked to kiss men or women?
"And they are. That doesn't mean they knew it even existed." a small humoured smile faded in and out. "Folks at school were not that kind. They would bully and make fun of anyone slightly different, even if they had no idea what it meant. I only understood more about it when I was already old enough to drink."
Bruce frowned at the comparison, but kept on listening. The red boots touched the building he was perched on.
"Of course I'll treat anyone who feels that way with the same respect, I'm not a jerk. When it comes to me, though... I still don't know where I'm at in all that stuff."
"I see." Bruce stood up after a silent moment, white lenses showing no emotion. He willed his heartbeat down several times, but it was getting out of hand once again.
"I've been with guys before, I'm sure you've heard."
"Not from trustworthy sources." the disguised reporter grinned with an arched eyebrow. Bruce allowed a single giggle, which sounded more like a scoff to his own ears.
"I've slept with them, yeah." he sucked a breath through his teeth, then pursed his lips. "But I've never really dated any of them."
His heartbeat was out of control now and Clark could hear it, for sure. The way the shining eyes of his best friend reflect the light was breathtaking.
His whole figure was. Being bathed by the earliest sun rays, a golden statue of a god stood before him. The humblest god, he thinks to himself, and somehow said god had chosen to get with him out of anyone else.
"I don't deserve you." He whispers with furrowed eyebrows. He wasn't sure if Clark could see them, but he didn't have to. They can understand each other simply by their tone of voice, another thing he loved about their friendship.
"What? Don't say th--"
"It's true and you know it, Kal. It doesn't matter how much I want to pretend you're just the sweet guy I know, you're also Superman and you have a duty as such. I cannot stand in the way." the Knight's voice was steady and low, but pained. Why couldn't he be selfish for once?
Clark looked hurt, confused overall. Bruce's mumbling was back.
"You're just... Great. To me. And I'm not sure if I can also be great to you. I am... Scared."
His hands are then held by stronger ones. Even through the heavy leather gloves, he could feel the warmth of the whole Sun that is his Clark.
"B, look at me."
He does, and is not surprised to be met with the most compassionate look he knows. It was strong enough to move mountains and destroy planets, but it chose to aid weak souls and lift broken spirits.
Bruce held back an empty smile as Clark blinked, processing thoughts and words in only a way he could do.
That was why he loved the man. He'd been afraid to admit, but Clark was like a beacon of hope to him more than the actual symbol of Superman.
The way his eyelashes flutter when he's nervous, how considerate he is over anyone, how he gazes at the sky when he feels thoughtful or conflicted, as though he was searching for guidance among the stars.
Bruce had once been afraid he'd ever choose to leave Earth, but was glad that he had made it his home. A bit of a selfish desire, he was aware, but he was also aware that he was — unlike his beloved — only human. It is human to wish to be the only one who gets to see Clark's real smile, as he wakes up, before he drifts into a slumber, when he takes a bite of food that he enjoys.
"You think I'm so strong, but you can't see yourself." the voice was now low, chewing on his lower lip as Clark conjured up his next words. "You're amazing, Bruce. I respect you above everything and there's no way I wouldn't want to be with you."
The Dark Knight dared to approach, but held his face inches apart, hesitant. Then, it was Clark who moved forward.
Just as his lips were about to be sealed, the younger man tilted his head and frowned, his eyes focused somewhere else. Bruce was already beginning to think he'd messed up somehow, until his comm also started beeping, prompting him backwards, away from the smooth hands and into his ear.
A quick nod from both sides, and they dissolved; into a dark shadow between romanic buildings, and a confident figure amongst the clouds.
He felt butterflies in his stomach from watching such a noble man, the man he was madly in love with.

I genuinely really, REALLY love your hometown au concept- the fact it's a no powers/no capes au, but also NOT, is really cool? Like exploring what it'd look like if these kids tried to be heroes/vigilantes, but in a realistic way where they're regular people, instead of a "this takes place in a comic book world" way, is something I'm so fond of because it's like combining the things we already love but in a way that makes it all so much more real? Idk, it's nice! Also your comments about Jason needing walking aids make so much sense because now looking back I can see that in that snippet of Jason catching Tim sneaking in, he's sitting in what I presume is actually a wheelchair. Anyways, I wanted to ask what's Kon's deal in the hometown AU, parental figure wise- without the whole Superman v Lex thing, how exactly are both of them connected to him?
Thank you!!! Yes Jason is in a wheelchair in that comic I didn't want to make it super apparent since I wasn't sure what I was doing with hometown quite yet and I have definitely changed a few things since then. (Like- tim is no longer in high school I've aged them all up to their early twenties) but that's stayed.
Kon. Conner. Is uhhh OK. Ok. Clark is an investigative journalist known for exposing corporate injustice and helping workers rights whether it be proving unfair hiring practices or exposing like actual literal crimes against nature. He and Lois are a team and they are very, very good at what they do.
Lex luthor is still lex fucking luthor. But superman doesn't exist. Instead of trying to clone Kal, he's going the Smallville route and trying to clone himself. But he wants a eufenically perfect version of himself. So he starts experimenting. Clark is in the middle of a very big expose about lexcorps workers rights violations and he won't stop hounding them and is sooo determined to make them know theyre doing something wrong. And lex, freak that he is, thinks that determination and strong sense of will is very admirable, if not misplaced.
So he wants to like- breed that in. To the clone. Because he's a fucking eugenicist. Except I am very adamant that the combination of two people is not a clone that's a baby.
Anyway- conner is a test tube baby clone amalgation but he ISNT aged up- since they're not trying to fast track a superman weapon they let him age normally. Because again- lex is trying to make himself. Clark has been digging into the shit at lexcorp for YEARS and he keeps finding new horrors and new crimes against man. And like it's worse every time. And the worst one of all? This guy he's obsessed with taking down? He *made a baby* with him and Clark is so fucking freaked out when he finds out.
Like of course he takes conner. But he also doesn't want conner. Conner is like 3 at this point. Clark drops him off at his parents farm and conner is basically raised there by his grand parents. Clark.....visits. (Lex doesn't give a shit but WILL start hounding conner to come stay with him and learn business/evil stuff when he turns 18. It's actually part of the main PLOT of hometown so I'm not gonna get into it)
Conner meets tim as kids because he gives him horse riding lessons because I'm very adamant that since tim is a rich boy from New England he KNOWS how to ride a horse. It's a given. I just want conner to be the one to teach him and maybe stable his horse for him. You know. They can have their horse girl romance movie.
(Not related to anything else but bruce is So Fucking Mad at Clark when he finds out he has a kid he's been neglecting. Like surprise idiot you have to take care of your kid it doesnt matter that you never asked for him conner didn't exactly ask to be made either.)

Batman Essay 1 ~ (9-5-23)
Batman’s numerous protégés remind him of something inside himself. Each young vigilante exudes a specific aspect of Bruce Wayne’s personality, inspiring him to train them. Sometimes the more influence Batman has on one of his protégés, the more they pull away from being just like him. The way Batman chooses to live, and the mindset that compels him are almost entirely impossible to imitate, no matter how much someone tries to follow in his footsteps. In fact, the harder a protégé tries to be like Batman, the more they realize that his very influence saved them from being like him. The one exception is Jason Todd. The harder Jason tries to be the opposite of Bruce, the more like Batman he becomes. In my educated opinion, Jason Todd is the most like Bruce Wayne in personality than all of the other members of the Bat-Family.
Understanding Batman becomes easier when his protégés are considered. Dick Grayson reflects Batman’s desire to save people, and the heart that guides him. Barbara Gordon reminds Batman of his own adaptability and intelligence. Tim Drake is Batman’s endless curiosity, the desire to understand why. Damian Wayne has Bruce’s stubborn attitude, unyielding in his convictions, to a fault. Stephanie Brown is Batman’s desire to punish criminals. Cassandra Cain reflects Batman’s loneliness. Duke Thomas is Batman’s sense of justice, his righteous will. Many of them share more traits with Batman than their strongest attribute, but I believe that Jason Todd shares almost all the same traits as Batman.
Batman, at his core, is a little boy who was terrified by a random evil he was helpless against, and resolved to take personal responsibility for preventing anyone else’s violent death. Bruce wrapped himself in his fears and rage, becoming Batman, but inside, the force that drives him is grief: the pain of love lost. Jason Todd is the same. Raised in an environment of fear, young Jason Todd watched his father taken by the prison system, and his mother Catherine taken by drugs. He had to fend for himself on the streets. Growing up in a state of constant fear makes it incredibly difficult to trust anyone. Nightwing told Jon Kent, “Batman’s natural state is distrustful. Try not to take it personally. Something happened to him when he was a kid. And now he looks for danger in every situation and tries to control it,” (Superman Son of Kal-el). Jason and Bruce are ruled by the same unwillingness to trust others, to rely on anyone else, because they fear the helplessness of the heart.
The core of Batman is his helpless heart, the fear of the grief that still echoes through him. Time and time again, audiences are shown that what Bruce Wayne fears the most is losing more people that he loves. So often Batman pushes away his Bat-Family when he is going through more trauma. Jason Todd is the same. He carries the same helpless heart as his core. Early in his solo series Red Hood and the Outlaws (N52), Jason and his two companions are required to give up their most cherished memories as collateral, returned upon their exit. Starfire and Arsenal quickly take back their most cherished memories, but Jason Todd walks past and says, “Keep it.” The memory that he left behind was of a night he was too sick to be Robin, and stayed home. Bruce joins him on the couch, demonstrating that in that moment, spending time with Jason when he needed him was more important than going out as Batman. They watch TV together and young Jason falls asleep on Bruce, safe and happy. The fact that it’s his most cherished memory reveals that at his core, Jason is his heart, but just like Bruce, Jason fears that love becoming grief. He literally pushes away what he loves most, just like Batman.
All of the Bat-Family have love at their core. They all want to help people, save lives, and stop crime. I argue that Jason Todd shares the same brand of helpless love as Batman, where everyone else has learned how to let people get close instead of pushing love to arm’s length. Batman has a reputation for not trusting anyone, even his closest friends. He infamously has plans to take down the Justice League, preparing for any eventuality where he cannot trust the people dearest to him. Jason Todd is prepared to ditch his companions at any time too. He alienates Roy Harper (multiple times), he prepares to shoot Bizarro once, and he concocted a plan to erase his own mind and take on the League of Assassins alone, never letting his best friends in on the plan. Jason chooses to maintain his distance from the Bat-Family, despite repeated attempts by his siblings to get close to him. He intentionally makes himself out as the bad guy to push them all away. Especially Bruce.
As Bruce occasionally pushes away his family, so too does Jason Todd purposefully alienate the Bat-Family with his methods of crime-fighting. All the Bat-people fight crime, but most of them do not rely as much on fear and violence as Batman does. Nightwing leans into being friendly and asking his friends for support. Oracle is cooperation and persuasion. Tim Robin is outsmarting your enemies and beating them before they begin. I have seen Spoiler demonstrate that crime fighting can be efficient with as little danger to civilians as possible if you think like the bad guys do, turning their methods of subterfuge against them. Cassandra Batgirl is faster and more precise in defusing dangerous situations. Signal can get someone to stop committing crime without laying a hand on them. Damian Robin uses the same fear and violence that Batman does, with difficulty, because he has less experience trying to be nonlethal. Red Hood fights crime by committing crime. Red Hood has a reputation built on fear and violence, because he has a lethal record. Many criminals know the Bats don’t kill, so they fear Batman less than their murdering bosses. But criminals know all bets are off with Red Hood, as he is known to behead, blow up, and annihilate people. Jason Todd chose to be Red Hood specifically to alienate himself from the other Bats.
Red Hood appears to be as different from Batman as you can get, but although their methods are opposed, their personalities are parallel. Jason Todd and Bruce Wayne both want to save people and stop criminals to try and feel less helpless themselves. Jason and Bruce both grew up in a state of fear that all the other Bat-people lacked. Dick Grayson put it best when he said to Batman, “You and I were both about the same age when our parents were murdered. … But when my parents were murdered, you found their killers that very same day. Then you brought me into your home. You protected me. You gave me a great life. Because of you I never grew up wanting revenge. I grew up wanting to protect and help others because you protected and helped me,” (Robin 80th). Bruce lived in fear after his parents were killed, and he traveled the world alone trying to learn skills so he’d be prepared for any situation. He guards his heart, wrapping it in rage so he’ll never be let down by people he loves leaving him. He uses his fists to try and solve problems that can never be solved with violence. He uses his incredible intellect to wear a mask and keep people at arm’s length instead of letting them help him. Jason Todd is the exact same. Lived in fear, traveled the globe alone learning and preparing, guards his heart and looses his rage upon the world for disappointing him. Uses violence to stop violence. Chose a mask that would intentionally alienate him from his family. Just like Bruce.
The only way Jason and Bruce differ is Batman’s unshakeable sense of self and incorruptible mission. Batman fights crime, and doesn’t kill. Jason Todd, on the other hand, has an identity issue. He has been Robin, Red Hood, Red Robin, Nightwing, Wingman, and even Batman. He uses nonlethal methods when he’s in Gotham, but doesn’t bother holding back outside city limits. He fights crime, but also commits crimes. Jason thinks of himself as neither good nor evil, just following what he thinks is right. He’s a survivor (as his childhood shows), but sometimes he also wants to die (“Maybe I was better off dead,” RH&tO Rebirth). He alienates himself from the Bat-Family, but always comes when they call. Jason lacks the unyielding purpose of Batman. Bruce Wayne defines himself by being Batman, but Jason Todd can’t seem to make up his mind about who he is underneath his masks. Jason is, however, solid in his personality. A little boy afraid of the random cruelty of crime, living with the grief that people who love you can leave you all alone, but determined enough to do something about being so helpless. At the end of the day, the key is compassion.
Bruce and Jason are both big softies with warm hearts pretending to be dark and scary with violence.

I would honestly love to see an Elseworlds run - can be one of these short 6 or 12 issue runs that they’re doing these days - of the Justice League as young sidekicks.
I’ve been thinking about this ever since I read Young Justice and the age-switch storyline where the sidekicks were aged up... and the adults were aged down.
But! I am not talking about deaging them! I mean a world where they become sidekicks when they are all still preteens/teens.
Like, how Thomas Wayne became Owl Man after Bruce died in another world? But what if both Thomas and Bruce lived and only Martha died. And Thomas became Owl Man, and Bruce became his sidekick, Batboy, both driven by the same grief.
Maybe a world where Kal-El and Kara arrive at the same time and Kara, like 12 years older than Kal, has already been Supergirl for years by the time Clark becomes a teenager and he becomes the Superboy to her Superwoman.
Perhaps one where Hippolyta forms Diana out of clay far, far later, and it’s Hippolyta who became Wonder Woman, getting herself involved in man’s world again (even if just to help and save other young, helpless women and offer them the aid and sanctuary of Themyscira; I always did have a hard time buying that Hippolyta would turn her back on all the women who might still need the opportunity to join the Amazons). And by opening her borders again, Hippolyta sees children and teenagers for the first time in so many centuries and then her craving for motherhood starts and she creates Diana, who later on becomes her Wonder Girl.
How about a young Oliver Queen who idolizes Dinah Drake’s Black Canary to the point of picking up the mantle of Green Arrow as a young lad to become her sidekick because he admires her?
Barry becoming the Kid Flash to Jay Garrick’s Flash is such a quick and obvious choice, just put them on the same Earth from the get-go and let Barry become a speedster earlier.
A stubborn, young Arthur Curry who learns about his powers the way he did as a kid already in the movie adaptation, only that it drives him into becoming Aqualad early on already. The Aqualad to his mother’s Aquawoman.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot, in regards to the Justice Society and how much it formed the young Justice League, and with seeing the heroes interact as kids in Young Justice. I think it’d be neat, if there had been a Justice League before the usual main timeline Justice League; one where our usual main heroes are the young sidekicks and meet through that.
Seeing them come together as their own version of the Teen Titans/Young Justice/Teen Justice, whatever you’d want to call them, because them all being adults and being heroes in their own right is a formative part to how their team-dynamic works. But if they came together much younger and with a background of being sidekicks first, which changes individual behavior and thus the entire dynamic, I think it’d make for such an interesting read with so much potential.

Hey there! I’m interested in writing jonjay fan fiction, but I’m a little unsure about my Jon characterization. Do you have any pointers?
Hi!!! First of all thank you for coming to me about this and trusting me with this, I look forward to your fic!
To answer the question- There's a few things I keep in mind when writing Jon.
He's a guy with big emotions: Jon feels a lot and with intensity. It may not immediately show but he feels love, respect and anger in very extreme ways. When he's angry and feels threatened, it's enough to cloud his judgement and break into a president's home. When he's feeling love; he jumps right in and is fiercely protective(including Jay in the JL safehouse & almost fighting Bruce over it, TT mentioned that Jon was very aggressive with Dreamer because he was worried over Jay). He has a lot of difficulty controlling his actions when he's feeling these emotions.
He wants to help people: This one's obvious but he thinks thoroughly about how to help. He'd not just rescue someone from a disaster, he'd also think about how to help the person recover from the disaster and find permanent safety(the way he dealt with Lachlan in SOKE is a pretty big example)
He's insecure: Also rather obvious, but he's not confident about being Superman yet, his desire to live up to his dad and risking his life and almost getting himself killed in Dark Crisis is evidence. Like throughout the event and even in SOKE, he's always thinking about how he can't live up to Clark.
He's very critical of himself: It was one moment but he mentions how he's constantly training his powers to ensure he never hurts anyone. When he uses his powers and isn't letting his emotions overwhelm him, he usually thoroughly evaluates a situation, tries to find the least disruptive way. If you re-read SOKE, he's always analyzing and evaluating how he should proceed. Him being critical of himself leads him to ask for guidance very quickly(Nightwing, Aquaman, even Damian in #1 when he asks what he should do).
Following along those lines- he readily listens to others. Jon's open to critique and advice because of him being so critical of himself. He listens to Jay when he tells him he can't just waltz in, listens to Dick when he gives him advice about finding the people who were killing heroes, to Jackson when he told him about acoustic waves. He's an open communicator with trying to understand other people's POV.
He's pretty impatient, impulsive and sarcastic: He's only reserved when he's not feeling confident about a situation. When he's sure he's right, he won't hesitate to point it out, oftentimes with sarcasm or an eye-roll. Like when he's confident, he's confident. He mocks and jokes(the Annual with Lex, him rolling his eyes at clois in Kal-El returns, deadpan response to Lois's answer about how Batman got past his super-senses). When he's sure, it's usually because he thinks he's done enough to be assured of that, and so jumps right in(sometimes he isn't, and the insecurity thing and critical-of-self thing gets reinforced). With villains and people he dislikes, he makes it very clear that he wants nothing to do with them(unlike Clark who's often at least trying to be civil). The impulsiveness and impatience rears its head around people who he's decided to despise and distrust(it gets him in trouble tbh).
He doesn't talk about himself: This is going into speculation territory but if you've noticed, Jon never talks out-loud about his emotions or his experiences. The one time he does it is in SOKE #9, it's extremely vague in detail, and this isn't because he wants to but because he's talking about how much he admires Dick. He dodges or turns it into talking about the situation or some new purpose. The closest we get is him expressing his desire to be like Clark. He is shut tight as a clam.
Jon is smart: Not just because of the super-speed learning. He learns and wants to learn, this is a bit of a reference to his days as a kid but he's a science nerd. It carries over into now(most obvious in "The One Who Fell" Arc in Action Comics, talking about desert oceans, the weather bomb, the microsurgery moment, trapping Ultra-Humanite).
In terms of his voice; he's pretty friendly and informal, often jokes around and comforts people, goes along with jokes of people he likes or wants to help. Articulate af when he's representing a cause and is passionate about it. Apparently uses regular Gen-Z slang and occasionally gets weirdly descriptive with his insults and when he's expressing dislike(this happens with Batman so many times). Extremely helpful and goes out of his way sometimes to do things. Has hope for a better future but is burdened by his past and the expectations placed upon him.
I think I rambled too much, I doubt all of this can be kept in mind at the same time, these aren't hard and fast rules, this is mostly what I've gathered about Jon and what I use to guide his voice. Hope this helps!!

1. Yes, but what they know is not the full truth typically. Best example is in Young Justice, the world is made to believe their base is the Hall of Justice, when that’s just a ruse, the real base is an orbiting satellite in space called the Watchtower.
2. Yes the public knows about Batman. The degree of how much they know about him can vary by story.
3. Both? Definitely vigilante, but in Gotham that means hero.
4. Yes!! In fact, my favorite interpretation is that people think Superman doesn’t even have a secret identity, and that his “secret identity” is as his birth self, Kal-El, and that he lives in the fortress of solitude. Lex Luthor uses xenophobia to rally people, saying that an alien shouldn’t be a protector of/champion for humanity.
5. Nightwing!!
6. Oooof there’s a lot here.
Canon I’ll go: Clark/Lous, Batman/Catwoman, Bruce/Talia, Dick/Barbara, Dick/Starfire, Tim/Stephanie, Tim/Bernard Dowd, Barry Allen/Iris West, Wally West/Linda Park, Wally West/Artemis Crock (Young Justice), Jason Todd/Artemis of Bana Migdrall (cannot spell that haha), Green Arrow/Black Canary, Harley Quinn/Poison Ivy, Raven/Beast Boy, and I’m definitely missing some but that’s what I’m thinking of rn.
Non-Canon (NOT INCLUDING BATCEST OR ANY OTHER INCEST/AGE-DIFFERENCE SHIPS!!): Batman/Superman, Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman, basically Batman/anyone on the JL besides Shazam, Dick Grayson/Wally West (love this one), Jason Todd/Roy Harper, Tim Drake/Kon Kent, Tim Drake/Kon Kent/Bernard Dowd, Damian Wayne/Jon Kent, Hal Jordan/Barry Allen, Ted Kord (Blue Beetle)/Booster Gold (practically canon lol), Stephanie Brown/Cassandra Cain, and I’m definitely missing some but that’s what I’m thinking of rn.
7. Really really really really weird.
8. Jon Kent is the second main universe Superboy!! He is the son of Lois and Clark, and is Damian Wayne’s best friend. Recently, he was aged up for various reasons, so he’s roughly 18 I THINK, which puts him a few years ahead of Damian which made people Not Thrilled. He has operated (and I think technically still is operating) as Superman himself, and he is bisexual!!
9. Yep still Nightwing (Dick Grayson). Stephanie Brown, Damian Wayne, and Tim Drake are up there too.
10. I have a FEW: Donna Troy, Cassie Sandsmark, Duke Thomas, Carrie Kelly, and I’m definitely missing some but that’s what I’m thinking of rn.
11. Okay so the college thing I believe is a fanon thing, but I love it. She is a psychologist or psychiatrist (can’t remember which rn), though her license has probably been revoked several times over by now. She did leave the joker, and has an amazing girlfriend (Poison Ivy) now. She and Batman aren’t friends-friends, but they aren’t particularly enemies either. Fanon will fluctuate with that though. Take your pick!
12. Yes!! The secret Batfamily stuff is a non-canon compliant fanon trope (that I do love to read and see, but don’t want in canon)
13. Depends on who you ask. Truly. He has done some bad stuff to his kids in the comics, but that’s what happens when hundreds of writers and artists all give their own take on the character, over now almost 100 years. I personally prefer Good Dad Batman, and tenddddd to choose to ignore the terrible things he did in canon on occasion. Others don’t, and that’s okay.
(Also for the Jason Todd anon: literally just WFA for free)
Hi! i hope you got done what you needed to get done nad have been having a good day :)
anyway, omg thanks for clearing up some confusion, would love to hear your 'personal canon' is that like a collection of headcanons or fanon or is it a bunch of small canons that fit together? sorry if this doesn't make sense. Is it, like, something you have it nailed down or do you see something, think, 'oh thats neat' and add it to your collection?

R & A for the fandom ask? 👀
yay!! my first ask! ty!! (doing it for dc bc fixated)(you are getting my thought process here as i try to answer it)
R - A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships
oh boy. oh boy oh boy oh boy. hmmmmm i genuinely gotta think on this one because a lot of the ships i have are ones that others do too
-its not really a huge ship of mine, it mostly just came together while i was writing a different fic, but Donna/Kori/Zatanna is one that i enjoy a lot
-i also ship superlantern, like a lot. its one of my favorite hal ships but it has literally zero content on ao3 and thats really depressing.
-a few others that are less popular that i like a lot are guyhal (love them so fucking much), bruce/constantine (they can make each other so much worse and i love the jl dark), and bart/jaime (yj tv specific because im OBSESSED with s2 of that show)
god i know i have another big one that i am simply missing and thats going to bug me to the end of days--AHA
this one i KNOW it basically only me bc its derived from my hatred of the cardboard cutout flat dumbass superman lite clark kent knock off discount kal el. Jay Nakamura and Ash from Lazarus Planet: Assault on Krypton should get together bc they both deserve to have a boyfriend with a personality (i even drew stuff for them and took FAR too long making it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A - Your current OTP(s)/OT3(s)/OTX(s)
-uhhhhhhh Hal/Barry bc im doing Year of the OTP for them (im still writing the March prompt tho lmao)
-Kryptoknight (Superbat) bc god almighty they have everything and i need so much more of Bruce interacting with Clarks kids bc all i see is Clark interacting with Bruce's kids
-Bruharvey/Twomatches bc theyre soooooooo special to me and im completely normal about them
-Midnighter/Apollo bc i love them soooooooo much. theyre equally fucked up and i love them and their daughter so much and i wish i had more midpollo and jenny content when shes young
i got lots more, but i'll leave it at those 4 for now lol

Principal of pleasure part 46
After a month Clark and Dick had their tryst with Jason and Roy, Clark gets a visit from Green arrow and Dick's at the cabin.
Superman x Nightwing pairing
Tumblr media
Dick
Kal was outside cleaning and repairing and fixing the outdoors of the cabin I stayed inside washing dishes and watched him by the window.
We stayed here since we left Roy and Jason after the club.
That was wild I am into crazy stuff but this was something, I can't believe me and Kal slept with Jason at the same time.
I heard a very loud roaring chopping sound descending from above us.
A helicopter came into view and I panic could this be Bruce.
As it made its way down and landed on the ground and the engine stopped itself.
Someone came out of it and that some one is Oliver and more red flags rose in my mind.
Kal stood there unshaken from Oliver appearing out of nowhere, I wanted to here what they are saying without being seen.
I went behind the door and put my ear close to it. "Hey Kal-El can we talk." Oliver said he sounded concern from the sound of his voice more red flags where raised.
"Well with an entrance like that how could I refuse." Kal said it looks like he was hammering and not stopping his chores. "What's up Queen." Kal said his voice was soft and warm and invited him for a conversation.
"Heard you are divorcing Lois."
"How told you."
"Bruce Did."
"Yes I am separated from Lois but why would he tell anyone this."
"Do I look like I am anyone Kal-El I had a conversation with him and things got heated between me and him over you."
"What things."
"Shit Clark don't fuck with me." I heard movements and rustling of footsteps on the ground of dirt and grass.
"He showed me several messages you sent to Mrs. Gordon." What the fuck I just heard my hands still soapy from washing as I haven't heard from Bab's in a month in a half it was because of Kal.
"How did you know about those messages."
"Because she sent them to Bruce and I put two and two together, Some people are in denial about shit but not me and not about you." Oliver ranted I couldn't see anything the cabin door had no window so I couldn't see anything only their voices and the tones of it.
"Do you know what the messages said."
"KAL you know what they said."
".....I..I never men." Oliver cut Kal off.
"She's pregnant Kal why would you do that to her why would you chase here away like that, She's married even if I messed around with you I never did this shit to Lois." Oliver shouted at him.
"I know that."
"So why did you do that."
"How much dos Bruce know."
"Fuck we fought for your honour I shouldn't have because when I did I had to come out about are affair so he understood where I stood and it was with you." I could hear Oliver pace back and forth as birds chirped endlessly as the wilderness responded to their conversation.
"Don't you see what he's doing he's digging into my personal affairs he's jabbing at anything he could find. Do you know he loves me not just as a friend he has an interest in me that's why he's doing all of this." Kal said I could hear he is on the defence.
"I don't get it Kal but why would you say those things to her."
Kal is silent and it looked like he would not answer Oliver right away or at all at this point.
"Come on just tell me. Barbara is a good kid why would you hurt her like this."
"Like I said I never wanted to hurt anyone."
"You already did. You damn fool."
"Yes I am a fool and.... I can't explain all of this all of a sudden it's too much to take on right now."
"There's someone else."
"What are you talking about."
"Who is it."
"No one Oliver I just didn't want to be with Lois are marriage ended a long time ago."
"I got that picture I was proof of it." I kept hidden Kal was not giving me away to Oliver it was crystal clear, But it seems either Oliver already knew about us and wanted Kal to come clean or he didn't know and wanted Kal to tell him.
"Oliver is just over and that is that."
"Not it's not who is she."
"Whha."
"Who is she Kal is she in there."
"No."
"I almost ....fuck Kal just say it."
"Oliver please just....."
"Fuck off Kal no it's not no fuck how come I didn't put two and two together holy shit... his fucken car is parked right there your fucking around with Bruce's Dickie bird." I froze so many emotions are striking me all at the same time now Oliver knows.
"Holy fuck.... you guys are like family like your uncle to him and shit this is, Kal say something." Oliver who I thought was an alcoholic and was a complete mess is showing something I didn't see in him in a while he's alive.
"Is it true Kal. Is he here with you." Oliver's voice is much softer now.
"Yes." Kal voice said it simply.
"God kal your so stupid."
"I love him Ollie."
"Ok babe but he is forbidden fruit here this is no no he's not what you look for he's a baby Clark." Oliver said the voice sounded breathless and tired.
"I love him Ollie I want to be with him no matter what."
"Fuck no this is crazy."
"For you but I loved him for so long I refused to let him go."
"This is not what I expected when I came here."
"But you came anyway."
"I came because me and Bruce got into an altercation and it was in front of his butler because of you." Oh god Alfred was there I hope oh god who am I kidding this is going down fast and I had no control to stop it.
"How long."
"......"
"How long Kal tell me I almost lost my teeth for you."
"Ten or more years ago."
"What did you just tell me."
"Ten or more years ago since I fell in love with him."
"You will tell me every thing and you will tell me now."
End of part 46 next is part 47
Thank you for reading

Question, cause I have an idea I can't shake and I wonder how you think it'd go because your takes are always immaculate, in an injustice style world where Supes goes off the rails and the JL follows him what do you think the Bats would do if Bruce was the one who died?
All of the batkids are alive (none of the kind of weird Damien accidentally killing Dick stuff) and Bruce goes to confront Clark about it and somehow it ends in him dead.
Very distinct scene in my head where Bruce sees it all unfolding and tells the kids he's going to go talk to Clark with very little expectations of success and the next time they see their father it's Kal-el delivering his body to them. Telling them he's sorry, but Bruce didn't understand. He's sure they do though, he's heard them argue with him. They understand sometimes death is necessary.
How do you think they'd react?
(saw some stuff from Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League and was thinking about the Bats and somehow this was born)
Personally I think there would maybe be some murder but you know it's just a little idea
Idk if I'll ever get around to fleshing it out and writing it but it's been plaguing me. I think Alfred deserves to get the final blow, you know if Kal killed his kid. He should be the one with the long range sniper rifle and a clip of kryptonite bullets. He deserves it you know?
I think it all kind of depends on the type of Clark here (is he really Injustice-y yet? is he a straight up dictator when Bruce goes to talk with him, or just warming up?) AND it depends on how Clark explains Bruce's death to the League and the Batkids.
Does Clark kill Bruce out of anger? Is it an unfortunate accident? A little bit of both? If Clark is really falling down the Injustice rabbit hole, he can explain it away as a Joker plot to save face. If he's still Clark, I think he would tell people the truth -- either that it was an accident, or he hit Bruce but didn't mean to kill him, etc.
Sometimes, getting revenge for a loved one's death is about making the person responsible feel your pain and devastation. The Batkids and Alfred will need to evaluate if there's 1) a way to hurt Superman that doesn't end with all of them hurt/dead too and 2) any hope of making Clark feel more guilty/devastated than he already is over Lois, his kid, AND Bruce.
There's nothing like showing up with a big kryptonite blade to kill Superman and him just...agreeing with you? And hating himself for what he did? But a Superman who's falling into that dictator role, who denies responsibility or some responsibility for Bruce's death, who tries to capitalize on it all for his new worldview -- that's a Superman worth fighting against.
If we take the Batkids as Bruce's substitute during the main events of Injustice, then yes. They'll create the insurgency and fight against the regime, in Bruce's memory. But it's an interesting upend of Bruce and Clark's dynamic, since part of their regime/insurgency was always underlaid by the fact that they were/are equals, and once very good friends.
These are Bruce's kids Superman would be hunting down, one by one. Does he restrain himself from killing them, out of some misplaced sense of guilt? Does he want to recruit them away from their insurgency because he knows even one Batkid alive is a huge threat?
All really good questions. Injustice AUs are so much fun, I don't know why there isn't more fic about them!

I came up with this weird AU. You know how sometimes you read fics where the characters have the same names as canon, and that’s pretty much all the canon compliance there is? Yeah, that’s this.
Imagine, if you will, a time pre-canon. Perhaps the time that the Justice Society operated, when heroes were new to the world and not completely accepted. Now, do you have that picture in your head? Yeah? Well then welcome to my protégé AU!
The basis of the protégé AU is that members of the Justice League are now the child sidekicks of their OC or role-reversed mentors, members of the Justice Society.
For example, Bruce Wayne, Kal-El, and Diana of Themyscira are now teenage besties codenamed Orphan, Superboy, and Wonder Girl, respectively. Their mentors Batman, Superwoman, and Wonder Woman founded the JSA. When Bruce, Kal, and Diana become adults, they’ll found the JLA (named by Dinah Lance, daughter of Black Canary Dinah Drake and sister of Robin Dick Grayson-Lance).
Getting more into Bruce, Kal, and Diana: They’re basically the Teen Titans but they’re also the animated series Young Justice’s Team, in that they don’t have an official name (other than “mini’s”) and they’re pretty casual, kind of like when your parents go to a house party and leave you with all the other parent’s kids, even though you don’t even know them. A few years after they meet, they start being called the Trinity, because while they may be teenaged hot messes in their private lives, on missions they are a put-together, well-coordinated team who conduct missions with minimum arguing and maximum efficiency. They’re the take-the-world-by-storm types.
Bruce Wayne is a goth kid with depression who was orphaned at age eight and was adopted by the Batman. Kal-El is a brave, mom friend, big city-raised Krypton-born inviciboy. Princess Diana of Themyscira (secret identity Diana General) is Themyscira’s tragic, kind-hearted princess. Because they’re teenagers, we have all the sexuality and gender angst. Bruce, at least, has figured out that he is very, very gay. In my version, he’s also very, very in love with Hal Jordan (also a teenager). The Trinity all have multiple piercings, Bruce and Diana are tied for the most, Kal has the least. Bruce insists his are just for undercover missions but no one believes him (he’s very I-have-no-emotions in this AU, but he’s also a goth teenager so). Kal and Bruce paint their nails often but Diana does so only very rarely.
Kal’s background: Kara Zor-El landed on Earth first, on the Kent farm where she was raised by Martha and Jonathan Kent. Martha and Jonathan know everybody’s secret identity and bring baked goods to JSA headquarters every few months. Becoming a journalist after college, she raises Kal-El, her baby cousin. Kara is Kal’s primary caretaker, legally his mother and more like his aunt mentally, while Martha and Jonathan are Kal’s grandparents. Therefore, Kara Zor-El (secret identity Kara Kent) is Superwoman and Kal-El (secret identity Clark Kent) is Superboy.
Hal Jordan is Martin Jordan’s protégé. Martin Jordan also know as the Green Arrow (yes, Arrow) dies while on a mission with Hal and Hal quits heroing, moving to be raised by his uncle. When he turns eighteen, he becomes a pilot and becomes the first human Green Lantern.
Mostly because I love crackships, Kal is in a polyamorous relationship with John Constantine and Barry Allen. Yeah, I know. Both Constantine and his mentor (also named John) are incredibly gay and John gets his assholishness from him. But it’s important to me that Constantine and his mentor are the best of friends. Yes, Constantine is like sixteen and his mentor is a full-grown, middle-aged adult, but they’re still really close and almost never argue. Constantine is somehow still a chain smoker and has now indoctrinated Barry into smoking during stressful occasions or at parties (you bet they attend parties, those teenaged heroes). Kal is just trying to get them both to quit.
It’s also important to me that, similar to Roy Harper in S1 of Young Justice, there are some older but still teenage characters that appear from time to time. In this case, it’s Oliver Queen (I have no idea what his codename will be) and boy king Orin or Arthur Curry. The two are dating and on those relationship dynamic art posts, they would be labeled “One Hot Gay Mess” and “He/They Bisexual”. Guess which is which.
Dinah Lance, who I mentioned earlier, is little younger than them, just as Oliver and Orin are a little older.
I’ve also incorporated Vic Stone as a background character. He’s mentor-age, not a teenager and he’s more tech support. The reason for that is that he’s been fighting crime since he become part robot, back when he was a teenager and now he’s kind of (re)tired. Most other heroes his age become heroes on their own when they were adults. He has the most experience (actually he’s tied with Jay Garrick) and he’s the type of hero that seems to have endless wisdom to dispense and very little to say otherwise; someone whose words carry weight.
Through reincarnation and time travel shenanigans, Carter Hall and Shiera Sanders/Kendra Saunders are reborn many times during this time. Originally, they are mentor-age, a married couple of bird-wing crimefighters, Carter Hall and Shiera Sanders-Hall, but after getting killed they are somehow reborn to be the Trinity’s age, then Dinah Lance’s age. Their legal names after their last reincarnation are Carter Hall and Kendra Saunders. Because of all the Death (with a capital D), they usually only operate under Vixen (who most people agree is the best hero, the myth, the legend). The two live on-base. Understandably, the Trinity are very protective of them and their thirteen-year-old written-in-the-stars puppy love.
Dick Grayson also exists in this continuity as Black Canary’s protégé whose not a metahuman, just someone who uses Vic Stone’s Canary Cry bombs, and Wally West-Garrick Feels Things for him. Dick is only ten and Wally is around eighteen months older and going through a sexuality crisis. Wally is Jay’s orphaned grandson and at some point Barry had to watch him but also come to a JSA meeting and that’s how Wally learned that Barry was a metahuman superhero. Wally also works as Kid Flash but that’s like twice-a-year rare. (Dinah Drake, Dinah Lance, and Dick Grayson all live and operate in Gotham.)
J’onn J’onzz is about Orin and Oliver’s age and there is no Martian war, J’onn’s just some random but insanely powerful guy who wants to explore Earth, like some Americans visit Mexico, but then he decided to be a hero so he’s being trained by an alternating roster of Dinah Drake, Kara Kent, and OG Batman, with the occasional tip from resident extraterrestrial expert Hal Jordan.
Also similar to Orin and Oliver are Ted Kord and Michael Carter, two eighteen-year-old time travelers. Honestly, no one’s sure what’s going on with him, or even how old they are at any given time. The JSA just figured “hey, they’re not actively fucking things up” and lets them be. (Because, they, unlike a certain someone, don’t fuck up the timeline enough to create an alternate universe, Barry.) Vic Stone occasionally time travels with them. The mini’s love them. Ted and Michael are very much in True Love and very cute and everyone is jealous and pissed off at their cuteness except Orin and Oliver who are also very cute. Roy Harper is a four-year-old originally found by Martin Jordan, Orin, and Oliver on a mission raiding a Luthor base (the theory is he was being brought in to be cloned alongside another hero’s DNA but they didn’t get around to it before the JSA found them) being raised by the latter two because the former is dead.
Billy Batson is also a teenage hero but doesn’t hang with them much, except for occasionally with Kara and Kal. He doesn’t follow the other mini’s to found the JLA, instead sticking with the JSA. Billy experiments with he/they pronouns, but ultimately sticks with he/him.
Miscellaneous headcanons for the protégé AU: Doctor Fate is a hardass and nobody likes him, Constantine’s mentor and DF fight all the time. Jefferson Pierce and Koriand’r are both nineteen and dating. Jefferson is Vic Stone’s protégé and Koriand’r’s first Earthern friend. Bruce’s mentor is African American and has a younger cousin (in very early 20s) named Mal Duncan(!!) who kind of does hero work on the side sometimes. His girlfriend Karen Beecher is tech support training to be a Earth hero alongside J’onn. J’onn, being older, kind of takes Karen under his wing. Atom (Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi) are best friends with a five year age gap.
Imagine the JSA base to be like the Watchtower, where the mini’s sleep over and bake in the steel kitchen at 3 AM, watch YouTube videos on the floor in the hallways outside official meetings, do math homework lounging on the futons while snacking on popcorn and Zesti’s.
OG Batman/Batman 1.0 ([insert first name here] Duncan) uses he/they pronouns
Bruce Wayne is Batman 2.0, originally Orphan
Malcolm Duncan is Guardian (but only sometimes)
Diana’s mentor is her aunt and the general of Themyscira, Antiope, Wonder Woman 1.0
Diana eventually becomes Wonder Woman 2.0
Superwoman is Kara Zor-El Kent
Superboy/Superman is Clark Kal-El Kent
(Maybe Kon and Jon show up at some point? Jon could be Kara’s son, Kon Kara’s blonde clone)
Barry’s mentor is Jay Garrick/The Flash 1.0
Barry is Kid Flash/Flash 2.0 (Jay is getting on in years)
Martin Jordan (Hal’s dad) is the original Green Arrow
Oliver was at some point his protégé but Hal never met before they fell out and Martin died
Oh! A name idea for Oliver: Arsenal and Hal was Speedy
Now Oliver is Red Arrow (bathed in blood, revenge, etc.) and Hal is Green Lantern
Oliver eventually becomes Green Arrow again when he gets a protégé post-AU
Hal and Oliver have the kind of relationship where they don’t communicate or talk at all but they know everything about each other, if you know what I mean?
Orin’s mentor, the general of the Atlantian army is Aquaman, kind of a recluse hero
Orin goes by Tempest in this AU but he also went by Aqualad at some point in the past (he’s embarrassed by it but Oliver was there so now everyone knows)
Orin is also the king of Atlantis, but not the current governing body, that’s Mera. He’s created a secret human identity, Arthur Curry, since he’s kind of known as the Boy King of Atlantis, a metahuman and foreign authority
Dinah Drake, raising both Dinah Lance and Dick Grayson, is the Black Canary, the first female hero. Dinah Lance goes by “Canary” mostly and is nicknamed “Shriek” and Dick goes by “Robin”
Selina Kyle is Catgirl, Bruce’s best friend, dating Bruce’s other best friend, Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn
So yeah, that’s the uber-complicated, interconnected protégé AU!

The only way Jason and Bruce differ is Batman’s unshakable sense of self and incorruptible mission.
