So.. I'm confused about something. If your beliefs in radical feminism say that trans people aren't valid in their feelings of being trans, what's stopping you from making bisexual people not part of the LGB? B stands for bisexual. What if their sexuality is just a phase? What if they are *actually* just heterosexual? For that matter what's stopping you from excluding YOURSELF from the community? At some point, you can't exclude any more people from a space that wasn't supposed to be gatekept to begin with! -Vero of CFC

You people always use that word “valid”. It’s absolutely meaningless post modern nonsense. Trans people feel that despite having a male or female body, their feelings about it change reality. I’m not telling trans people how they feel. Because you’re right, I can’t know that. What I’m telling them is that their feelings don’t change their bio sex. I’m telling them their feelings don’t supersede the rights and dignity of women. That’s not at all the same thing as being same sex attracted.

If I tell you that I am attracted to both men and women you can believe me or not. It doesn’t change my sexuality. You can’t know how I personally experience sexual attraction. But if I tell you I’m an Olympic Figure Skater, that’s something external and material. That’s something that either is or isn’t. And it doesn’t matter how true I want it to be.

This isn’t about people being invalid or valid. It isn’t about telling others I know better than them how they feel. It’s me telling them that their feelings don’t change material reality.

And we don’t get to sidestep reality because language is limited and imprecise. We create words to express ideas and categorize things so we don’t have to start every conversation from the ground up. Think of the quote “a rose by any other name”. The word ‘rose’ is made up but the flower it refers to exists in the material world. And you and everyone on earth could declare a rose a tulip but as long as people needed to specify they’d find a way to invent the word rose again. It’s why every 3 years your movement declares old terms verboten. MtF and FtM got used until people got mad it didn’t erase the reality of bio sex and people just used those terms in place of “male and female”. Then the same thing happened with AFAB and AMAB. Now we’re onto TME and no one knows what anyone is talking about because at the end of the day, people are male or female and no amount of “validation” or the right words erases that reality.

I am bisexual because I am attracted to both men and women. Lesbians are women exclusively attracted to women. Gay men are men exclusively attracted to men. Straight people are exclusively attracted to the opposite sex. The LGB community formed because the thing we had in common- same sex attraction- is punished in most societies. It absolutely was designed to gatekeep. It was a civil rights movement- not a secret club house. The LGB have no more moral responsibility to admit opposite sex attracted people than black activists have to include white or Asian people.

“Queer” has nothing to do with it. Demi flux genderoo aroallo fox kin have nothing to do with it. A group of men that believe their internal state of mind makes them literally a woman has nothing to do with it. You people overran a movement for same sex attracted people, convinced everyone to call our community a slur, and demand that we center heterosexual teens too immature for a relationship thinking that makes them the same as a Gay man.

I’m tired of arguing with 19 year olds that read too much mlm fanfiction that having short hair and wearing hoodies from the boys section doesn’t mean they’re gay men. I’m tired of arguing with those same girls that the 45 year old man with pigtails and a pink pinafore sucking his thumb and holding a dolly on social media isn’t a brave woman defying The Man. He’s just a pervert.

TW: Transphobia

I had my first ever encounter with a transphobic member of the LGBTQ community this week.

At work on Monday, I overheard some co-workers discussing Transgender Day of Visibility and how President Biden issued a statement acknowledging Trans Day. Since it just so happened to occur on the same day as Easter this year, my very close-minded co-workers took that and Biden's statement as evidence that Trans people are trying to take over Easter!

Now, I consider myself to be Non-binary (specifically Demi-girl/Agender), but I tend to fly under the radar, which is very helpful since I live in a very, very red state. It doesn't hurt that my normal sense of personal style is very casual and all black. So, I can wear traditionally "men's" pants, and no one pays much attention to me, which is the way I prefer it. I hate anything that draws attention to myself.

So, I bit my tongue and hyperfocused on my work. Then, when I went home, the non-binary gremlin in me just couldn't be contained anymore; I opened Reddit and made a post about how no one is going around trying to steal stolen holidays.

Now, I was fully anticipating pissed off Christians to rain their uninhibited fake outrage down onto the comment section (which happened) but I wasn't anticipating a self-identified 60 yr old gay man to come into my comments saying things like, "Why would you put a Trans holiday anywhere near a religious holiday knowing every seven years it's gonna land on said holiday" and "As a gay man I believe that the one part of our community is stifling the rest of us."

Tell me you're transphobic without telling me you're transphobic.

Now, since I can't just ignore the sheer inaccuracy of his math; according to Google from 2001 to 2100, Easter will only land on March 31st 5 times. Five times in an entire century. The last time Easter was on March 31st, it was 2013. So, 11 years ago, or over a decade ago. No one gave a shit in 2013 that Easter and Trans Day were on the same day. But let the president acknowledge it in a statement and everyone loses their fucking minds.

So, why would you avoid celebrating something important in your life on the off chance that it might coincide with someone's religious holiday? Of course, you wouldn't. If your birthday is on Christmas, do you no longer have a birthday?

"Next, why wouldn't you place it in the month of pride then each day of pride month could have a different day celebrating each letter of the lbgtq+ community."

Yes, that is what Pride Month is for, celebrating the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community. But are you gay only in June?

But sadly, even some in our diverse community isolate and vilify trans individuals just like what this old gay dinosaur is doing. For 15 years, a vast majority didn't know or even give a shit that Trans Day existed. That is until a president acknowledged it.

"May I point out there's no gay holidays that coincide with Yom kipper or Ramadan."

True, Yom Kippur and Ramadan don't coincide with any "gay holidays," but Shavout is directly in the middle of Pride Month. Any outrage there?

"So just piss off the Christian's so they have one more thing to hate us for. I find many in our community asking for acceptance while giving none, just my opinion and nothing more."

How very accepting of you to say, my lord.

"Maybe it's time we all in the gay community and cis people give the whole year to the Trans community."

But they aren't asking for the year, or even a month. They just want one day that is their own. And even members of our own LGBTQ+ community can't even give them that.

"I'm gay so I can't be transphobic."

Your statements say otherwise. Just because you're gay doesn't mean you are absolved of your transphobia.

Perhaps it's time we stop placating these dusty ass old gay dinosaurs and call them out on their hateful thinking. Their "I got mine" attitude only harms our communities. Just because you won the fight for same sex marriage doesn't mean you're safe. The fight for equality is never-ending.

More and more of us are having our rights stripped away right before our very eyes. Roe v. Wade has already been overturned, and they aren't going to stop there. They never planned to stop there. They are very methodically chipping away at our rights. Right now, they are focusing their efforts on the trans community, slowly outlawing their very existence. And while they have you distracted by that, they are quietly overturning same sex marriage laws. Your rights aren't safe and never will be safe as long as we have members in our communities who subscribe to this kind of thinking.

-Pan to aro/ace pipeline because I'm projecting :) she didn't really handle it well at the beginning, but Ben, Ash and Aiden are all also a-spec so she had a lot of support ^_^ She felt "invalid" because of the csa she went through when they were younger and they thought it was more like a trauma response than her actual sexuality. After talking with Ben about it tho she understood that even if they were related that didn't make her any less valid.

-Gay :> He realized pretty quickly but he's intensely scared of people finding out, has only told his grandparents. They took it very well ^_^ His grandpa has some gay friends so sometimes Logan goes to the senior center to talk with them about stuff :)

i learned about being ace

oh i don't know

12 years old maybe

i searched it up after reading about it online

"aroace definition"

it went something like

"being both aromantic and asexual"

i searched up

at first i thought it was a bit strange

i hadn't learned yet

to distinguish

between romantic attraction and sexual attraction

because i didn't know

people actually wanted sex

people actually saw someone and went

"wow"

"i want to fuck them"

i had a crush on a childhood friend of mine

at the time

(a guy. i am a girl.)

i'd always assumed i was cishet

grew up in a conservative christian household

slightly offtopic but honestly my parents were great

not stereotypical conservative christians

both allies

they had friends who were trans and gay

i'd checked out queer media from the library

and they were fine with it

anyway

back to the story

so since i had a crush on the opposite gender

i assumed ofc

i was cishet

well ofc i wasn't into sex, i was just a kid

but at age 13

almost 14

i was alone

in a hotel room, no parents, on instagram

that's the only time i could get that

late night phone time

when i didn't have parents around

i found @i.put.the.ace.in.disgrace on instagram

scrolled through every fucking post

on their account

and on the #asexual tag

i related to those posts

like

a lot

a suspicious amount for someone supposedly allo

even though i was just a kid

yeah maybe i'd grow into it

maybe i'd feel attraction one day

but not now

and who the hell was going to tell me

what i could or couldn't identify as

so i tried out the ace label

spent hours and hours

wondering if it was right

if i was really ace

if i wasn't too young

but going back to being allo felt wrong

so i decided to keep the label

the first person i came out to

was an online friend

they were so amazing and supportive of it

i love them so much for that

they said i'd been on their gaydar for a while

(a message i still think about

when wondering if i'm really ace)

felt sick the next day

i'd always been an ally

supported my queer friends

arospec aspec trans homosexual i supported them all

but it made me sick

to think about me

myself

being queer

it was sort of rough

but i got through it

later

came out to my friend and her mom

they were cool about it

i knew i'd be safe

they weren't ecstatic or super happy

but they accepted me

"cool"

that's what they said i remember it

i was a hot mess that day too

stuttered over all my words when trying to come out

and they still accepted me

i love them

later

i decided to hint at my identity to my mom

talked about not liking sex

i checked out a few ace books

from the library

my mom took me aside

i don't remember her exact words

it went something like

"it's natural to be curious

but you can't be ace at 14

you're not trying to be

are you?"

ofc

i managed to convince her i was allo

had to be more careful then

i'd only had one crush.

one crush who i'd liked as a friend first.

you see where this is going, don't you?

i didn't

i'd heard that aces had not very many crushes

so i assumed i was just Really Really Asexual

and i couldn't be aro hahahaha

i'd been in love before!

i started questioning

it described my experience more accurately

they were chill about it

and this is maybe the best part of the whole experience

i had friends who were stereotypical conservative christian

they complimented my aro and ace rings

and so did my mom

and that made me really happy for some reason

Heteronormative Nonsense? On MY timeline?

When Jungkook and Charlie sang Left and Right and the lyrics were gender neutral while the music video implied Charlie was having a whole psychotic meltdown about his romantic obsession with Jungkook, folks said that assuming it was a song about a gay couple was being irrational, and that speculating that either artist might be queer was full-tilt delulu.

OR we could all rub our two collective brain cells together in this, the high holy month of pride, and stop allowing heteronormativity to bias our perceptions of a person and their body of work.

Look, let's be for real for real right now, okay?

Wearing a skirt in a photoshoot doesn't make you trans instead of cis; putting a queer icon on your pants doesn't make you gay instead of bi; using rainbow colors on a set doesn't make you bi instead of pan; singing about the opposite gender doesn't make you straight instead of gay.

It makes you an artist portraying various aspects of the human experience.

That deserves to appreciated without being weaponized as a "gotcha moment" in online ship wars.

And if, over time, a consistent theme keeps cropping up in an artist's work? Like maybe the constant use of pink-purple-blue colors and the male and female symbols?

That's worth speculation.

But unless the artist specifically talks about it, it's really not our place to go making assumptions and stating them as fact.

Get comfortable with not having all the answers. Not knowing things is also an aspect of the human experience.

Anyway, did you guys get a chance to see all the goodies from FESTA? I managed to catch some of it. Loved it so much, especially the dance practices. Wish I saw all of it, but there's so much going on these days.

Does anyone else have multiple headcanons (gender identity + sexual/romantic orientation) for Sonic characters?

I especially have so so many headcanons for Sonic & Shadow and I can't decide which one of them I wanna make my main HC for the AU I'm making.

Like, I love making Sonic bisexual but then I can't decide weither he should be confident bi or in denial bi but I'd also love making him ace or fully aro/ace. But atleast 1 thing is sure that he's a trans man

And for Shadow OH BOY

I can't decide weither he's gonna be a cis guy or masc non-binary. And I can't decide weither he'll be gay + ace or gay and demi-sexual/romantic.

Boys Don't Cry - trans!Jason. I think this does have a minor plot?? I can't remember it's basically just fifty thousand words of marathon sex over the course of like at least a week

there's a middle ground between ace and outright smut actually

Some Kind of Disaster - this is actually one of my favorites and I've reread the whole thing more than once even though it's a mildly long series (although tbf I've reread longer). instead of outright dying at sanctuary Roy is just grievously injured and Jason runs to his side the moment he hears and refuses to leave. there's a lot of angst. one of the fics is smutty; halfway through the series Roy discovers Lian exists and that's where the plot really kicks in. so good

The Midnight Snow - Robin!Jason is in a time loop and Roy gets trapped in there with him

Flowers Are My Love Language - Jason keeps trying to get Roy to date him using flowers, and Roy simply refuses to get the message

Around Red Hood's Barn - Neighbors au where Roy and Jason are still partners as vigilantes, Roy just doesn't know Red Hood's identity, and Roy CANNOT STAND his new neighbor Jason. I love me some good identity shenanigans in a superhero fic

very genuine question : how can one be both pan and gay? im reallx trying to understand mspec gays/lesbians but im struggling to find anyone who actually explains their experiences (you dont have to ofc im just interested)

I've already explained this in the past, but I guess I can do a recap. First- [read this post I made here], as it gives a brief explanation and I need you to have that baseline understanding before I get into the more complicated stuff here, alright?

Now- With the understanding that somebody can simply like anybody regardless of gender, and have a gender preference. I have some more to add onto that and ask of you:

If your first thought is "isn't that omnisexual?" No, not really. It depends entirely on who you ask, when I started identifying as pansexual, omnisexuals definition was "likes most, but not all genders".

Secondly, Why are you so pressed about what words other queer people use to define themselves??

Why Do you NEED to understand somebodies identity?

My full list of labels that I use to define myself, is an agender trans masc faggot whos demi-quoiromantic, Ambiamorous and pansexual gay. I do not expect most of you to know what those words mean! And that's totally okay! I do not need you to fully understand the nuances of my gender presentation and sexuality! The labels I use, are for myself to help myself better understand where my attractions lie due to the fact i'm autistic and for other people who Do get it.

Its sort of ... the people who need to understand, will understand.

And ontop of that- all of my personal gender and sexuality fuckery aside, another more basic reason somebody may identify as an mspec gay or lesbian- is due to the split attraction model. It is very possible for somebody to be panromantic homosexual. They could love regardless of gender, but only be sexually attracted to one. And that is also valid! Not all relationships need sex and its not the end all be all of relationships.

Hopefully this helps you all understand a bit better. I'm always open to normal, sane, questions about my sexuality and experiences with it- but I will not tolerate any discourse or bigotry and that'll result in a swift block.

I'm somewhere between poly and mono, don't have a preference etc. I'm a cis woman, demi pan/bi. Anyway I got into a relationship with this dude and he is the first partner to ever treat me with basic human decency (latest ex was a trans woman who was abusive in about every possible way, tho mostly physical and emotional. Anyway he got me out of the darkness afterwards with the help of my male best friend)

Anyway he didn't know my bestie and was kinda iffy about him and I moving in together (with his male best friend as well, so we are three people) and then he met my best friend. I am now third wheeling in my own relationship because they vibe so well, neither of them is gay but they certainly have a platonic/qpr vibe about them. It's very nice, my boyfriend is introverted and both me and my best friend are very extroverted. I get my calm from my boyfriend and a lot of my socialising from my bestie. It works out fantastically.

Whatever is going on is nice, it feels like a family, my bestie and I are platonic and that's all it will ever be but damn if he isn't trying to steal my boyfriend to become his third best friend. With a lot of homoerotic flirting, which he does to most of his female friends boyfriends for some reason

Life is better now, it's good, I'm happy. Even though my boyfriend and best friend are third wheeling me, but that's a good thing I think, they can be bros, nothing would make me happier

Dunno if this falls under the poly umbrella, but if it does then I can tell you that stuff like this is great!
