When the Sun Sets on Us
Pairing: Lena Luthor x fem!reader
Summary: Lena meets Y/N a very successful but cutthroat lawyer and media mogul she’s smart, funny with a fiery side, witty and of course drop dead gorgeous her outfits are always on point and she never misses a beat(imagine younger and nicer Cat Grant x Diana Prince) after working a couple contracts with her, Lena starts to fall for this mysterious woman and before she knows it she’s head over heels in love.
***************************************************************
You were in an important meeting with a new high profile client and felt your phone buzz in your blazer pocket, at first you ignored it until you felt it again, you turned your wrist up to read the message on your watch. The green bubble flashed revealing a text from none other than the Lena Luthor:
Hey not sure what your up to but can you call me when you get the chance?
and then another
I'm sorry I called your secretary and she said you were in an important meeting, we can talk later when you're free.
You two had worked on several lawsuits together when her brother ran Lexcorp, so you were on a first-name cell phone number basis, but she never texted or called when you were at work. Someting must be up you said to yourself.
You looked down the table at one of your coworkers who gave you a questioning look, motioning to your watch, they gave you a nod and you excused yourself to your office. You nodded to your secreatary and she knew not to interrupt. You picked up your phone dialing Lenas number it rang twice before she picked up.
"Hello?"
"Y/N?"
"Yea, Lena what's up?
"Nothing it can wait you are supposed to be in an important meeting."
"Well, the upside of being one of the best lawyers in the country and having my name on the firm is that I have some very competent lawyers to run these meetings."
"Okay, I think I need your help."
"You think? What's going on Lena?"
"It's my mom, now that Lex is locked away she wants to take over the company, she against the rebranding, she's also in league with Morgan Edge."
"So..."
"So I'm trying to fight her but they got some of the best lawyers and I can't compete, I need some help."
"Well the good news is she has good but you have the best, I'll be right over."
"Thank you Y/N."
This was your job, you typically dealt with criminal court cases but sometimes you got high-profile clients that, that included CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, sometimes it was big or sometimes it was just the media causing stink and then you would come in and clear everything up, you've helped build reputations and also destroy some. you quickly grabbed your purse and left your office, meeting your secretary.
"Ms. Romero please redirect everyone to my cell if they need anything dyer otherwise tell them I'm dealing with an impportant client."
"Yes Ms. Steele, may I ask who?"
"Ms. Lena Luthor."
"Yes Ma'am I'll put it down, do you need meetings covered?"
"Yes, Mr. Leone is with Mrs. Valentino is with in the meeting now, if you could have them both take my meetings that would be great."
"Sounds good." You turned to walk away but then turned back and fished through your purse.
"Oh and Alexia thank you...." You continued to fish through your ourse grabbing your wallet and pulling out a card. "Here love, it's my card, go get dinner for the three of you it's going to be some long nights, and you all deserve a treat. I'll be sure to come back and check in on everyone though."
"Thank you Ms. Steele!" She said almost stunned.
"Call me if you need anything, and also it's Y/N." she nodded nd you left.
--- time jump ---
You pulled up outside of Lexcorp and quickly parked looking in the irror to make sure you looked good, making your way inside. After the first couple of doors you were met with guards, one held his hand out stopping you.
"I'm sorry Ms. we need to see ID unless you have an appointment."
"Yes, I am here to meet with Ms. Luthor I'm her lawyer, Y/N Steele." before the guard could say anything her secretary came running around the corner apologizing and quickly pulling you towards the elevator, she hopped on and took you upstairs to Lena's office. She handed you a badge and told you to scan at the door as she quickly retreated back to her vast desk. you scanned and heard the lock click quickly opening the door.
When you entered you saw her, Lena Luthor, with long and silky raven hair tied back in a ponytail, her maroon suit hugging her perfectly in all the right areas, she was absolutely gorgeous, but you could see the stress plaguing her features as she paced back and forth behind her desk.
"Lena?" you called pulling her out of her thoughts.
"Oh thank God you're here," she said a sigh of relief coming from her. You walked over set your purse down and laid your coat over the chair.
"So tell me whats up,"
"It's my mom, she wants Lexcorp now and she's sided with Morgan Edge to get her hands on it, promising shares for some dirty work."
"First that's illegal, and I can nail them for insider trading if we can prove it..."
"Well she's been running an... well... no never mind," she said with a shake of her head, little did she know that you knew about CADMUS and the underground lab and experiments, you were secretly DEO for crying out loud.
"You can tell me anything."
he looked at you like she was going to tell you but then you saw that she quickly covered, "She's been spinning the media hoping that they run me out of the company."
"Well, it's good you called because this is my forte straightening out the media and winning these cases."
"I didn't know who else to call," you saw a thin water line come to her eyes, "you're the only one I can trust right now."
You smiled gently at her, "Lena Luthor I promise not to break that trust."
---time jump---
Here you sat in a big corporate office with you and Lena, the other side of the table was full of corporate lawyers, Morgan Edge with his minions, and of course Lillian Luthor.
"Lena this is childish, why don't you just hand over the company rights it's not even yours to begin with."
"Because mother, I was meant to take over Lexcorp and my first step will be rebranding, it's now going to be Luthorcorp so I can bring some respect back to the name.
"Oh foolish girl, you were never a Luthor, you were just another charity case for my husband, you might as well just give me the company, so Morgan here can expand Edge industries.”
“Mother…” Lena tried to reason but her mother knew exactly what to say slowly chipping away at her.
“Mrs. Luthor I would choose your next words very wisely.” You said your cold demeanor seeping through the professionalism, no one deserves to be treated like that.
“Oh and who might you be?”she asked rhetorically, “Lena’s glorified guard dog? Hmm or just the eye candy she keeps around the office, I’ve crushed many careers and aspirations under my boots and you would be no exception.”
“Well I guess it’s good I wear stilettos then,” you smirked a fire in your eyes tempting her. “And I would also like you to know that I’ve never lost a case, and I won’t start today.”
“Well Lena you know how to pick them, where’d you find her acting in broadway or in a back alley.”
“Actually mother she’s from Steele and St. James, I hire only the best not these cheap side hustlers.” She sat back crossing one leg over the other.
“Yes did I forget to mention my name, I’m Y/N Steele,” Lillian eyes stayed on you but you could feel them losing their electricity. “I have a proposition, you allow Lena to keep the company and I allow you to keep these.” You slid a file across to each of them, Morgan squirmed in his seat and Lillian looked up at you mouth agape.
“I believe that can be arranged.” Lillian croaked.
“Good because I would really hate to use that.” You stared back unwavering. Lillian reached over and grabbed the documents signing the company over to her daughter, and quickly leaving. But not before ripping Lena apart.
“I’m not sure what dirty games you’ve played but after this you’re no longer my daughter, you were fine as another charity case but from this day forward your not apart of the Luthor family.” She shot at her and then exited.
Lena quickly retreated to her office and you gathered everything and followed, as you stepped in you saw her staring out the window. You set eveythung down on the table and walked towards her rubbing her back in soothing circles, tears rolled down her cheeks.
“You know I never wanted this I always wanted to help people, save lives with science. I never saw myself running something like this.”
“I’m sure you’re going to do great.” She turned and looked into genuine eyes and a gentle smile.
“Y/N, Thank you.”
“no need to thank me this is what I do.”
“I…well… you’re amazing at it.”
“I try my best.” You stood turning to walk away but she grabbed your arm turning you towards her.
“C… can I…I need to tell you something.”
“Anything you know you can tell me anything.”
“I, well, god Y/N.” She reached up pulling you into a kiss, holding your face, she turned to pull away and you pulled her hips in closer.
“I’ve been waiting to do that for so long.” she said leaning her forehead on yours. You chuckled softly, “why didn’t you?”
“Because you’re Y/N Steele, one of the most successful lawyers in the country, you never miss a beat, never lose a case, your style is impeccable, and you just have this power over people.”
“especially you?”
“Especially me, I vowed to never trust people because again I was so hurt and you showed me I can love and trust again. At first I wasn’t sure but after a few months I tried finding every reason to see you but I always served so determined I didn’t want to distract you.”
“Oh love you’re the prefect kind of distraction.” You placed a kiss to her forehead.
“I love you Y/N.”
“I love you to Lena Luthor.”

Your desk is covered in papers, the screen too bright for your liking, your eyes are stinging after hours of sharp focus on the monitor, but this old computer is not really cooperating with you. Loud noises are distracting, making it hard for you to finish your tasks, and you have a lot of them. Your boss, Loki, has put on you a first adult-ish assignment. It's your chance to no longer make coffee, kind of work, even more that fresh inters came in so they are at the bottom of the chain right now. That's how it works. The amount of work stresses you out but you are not going to let the opportunity slide. You can finally edit a text that will end up in one of the less popular magazines, but it's still going to be out. Doesn't matter how insignificant it will be, your name will be on this work and you need to give a 100% out of you.
It's been 2 weeks since Carol's party, you haven't seen her or any of her friends since that night and to be completely honest you thought about Natasha and Wanda …. not more than once. When you came home and changed the bandaid on your hand the next day, you reminded yourself of how caring and worried they were, but also very smug and self indulgent, after that… nothing. You had school, work, shifts at the bar and your friends to care about. Not mentioning your phone caller issue that you will have to address and take care of at some point. Your life fell back into place after that night, gym, school, work, repeat. You have to keep the flow going or it's really easy to get lost in this kind of lifestyle. It's like running at full speed, you can't trip. The faster you go the harder you are going to hit.
“You better do it right yn.” That low voice scared you coming from behind your shoulder. Loki was always creepy, not in a perverted way but still creepy.
“Yes boss, on it.” Short and sweet, don't discuss with him, you have learned it the hard way. It's for the best to make him feel validated. You assume that he had a rough childhood by the way he treats other people and by the not so quiet conversations he has with his brother in the office. You can't help but hear them, all the workers do, and you learned to have some understanding towards him.
You are at your last working hour, the phone is thrown into the drawer so it won't occupy you but your smart watch is vibrating with the amount of messages you are getting. You ignore every single one of them even when the vibration is traveling up your arm, leaving goosebumps on your skin. Last ten minutes you spend on cleaning your desk and putting your stuff into the bag. As you run down two flights of stairs you think about your plan for the rest of the day. You are done with work for now, you have spent half of the night doing extra work for school to get a little bit ahead and it worked amazingly on your anxiety, or the lack of it. You decide on visiting Steve on your way home, even if you don't have a shift at the bar, you enjoy spending time with him. As someone opens the door in front of you to let you exit first, with a short “thanks” you are outside, changing your plans immediately after you feel the warm sun. At this time of the year it is rare and you are planning on using that antidepressant window. The skin on your face feels like it is covered in a thin layer of warmth getting deeper inside of you, embracing your brain in an endorphin hug. You will visit Steve later, for now you are going to grab a nice coffee from the bike/coffee stand near the park and have a walk with your headphones on, ignoring the whole world.
“Can you start picking up your goddamn phone!” You turn around just in time to stop an angry Darcy right in front of you. Her face seems worried just as she is angry. Right behind her there is Carol clearly having a laugh at her girlfriend's tantrum. When you see her smile you can help but join and embrace Darcy in a hug.
“Sorry Darcy, work stuff. What’s up, what's so important that you came here?” It's unusual for any of your friends to arrive at any of your work places, from your work friends they know only Steve as they hang out at the bar sometimes, but they dont push to get to know everybody around you and you are grateful for that. Darcy points at the car that her girlfriend is already entering and with a big sigh you throw behind you all the warm sunny plans you had and follow along. The car always smells new and you are wondering if Carol is actually exchanging her car for the same one, just new, from time to time. Seems like something she would do. Leather seats squeak under your touch and you take your place in the backseat and you hate every second of it. It's like wearing leather pants, for you it feels like biting a cotton towel, or having your sleeves getting wet, when you wash your hands. Uncomfortable at least.
Carol starts driving and Darcy looks at you with a really excited expression on her face.
“No.” You say to her, making her confused right away.
“I didn't even say anything.”
“But you are going to, and you are excited, which means i have to do stuff, and you could text me what’s all this is about, but you didn't, so kidnapping me is the only way for me to participate in whatever evil plan you made.” She seems almost offended but it lasts three seconds before she starts laughing.
“You know me so well.” She is slouching over the back of her sweet so she can face you and it makes Carol uncomfortable, worrying that if anything happens the seat belt would work correctly. With one hand on the wheel, Carol puts the other on Darcy's thigh and turns her around. She turns off music and with a steer voice starts talking.
“Yn can hear your love, don't do that please.” Darcy takes Carol hand into hers not taking off her thigh, just to confirm that she understood and she is sorry.
“Yes daddy, I'm sorry.” Carol is rarely mad at Darcy, she doesn't really have a reason to, they made for each other, at least in your opinion, but when she is Darcy will use any pet name she can to melt her girlfriends heart and get on her good side again, and it's clearly working wonders.
“You are having a date Yn.” Carol informs you and you know this is a way of hers to mess with Darcy, the fact that she wasn't the one to share the news infuriates her.
“I was supposed to, ugh…. I have an outfit for you at Carol's house and we will give you a ride to the restaurant.”
“That's amazing, thank you very much… but I have work. My shift at the bar starts in-”
“In two days Yn, I have access to your calendar, don't try anything with me.” Feeling defeated, you slouch back a little bit and let your eyes follow the world outside of the car. Carol turns on the radio again after a minute of silence, assuming that everything was said and it won't be irritating for anyone. For a second you even let yourself sink into music and the outside world. Sun is peeking through the small alleys between the buildings, falling on your face in a pattern. You remember briefly that when you weren't able to fall asleep as a child your parents, or someone, you can't really remember, was taking you into the car and driving a couple of times around the block. Street Lamps or the sun flashing from time to time on your face was making you feel good, safe, comfortable, like there is something so bigger then you and everything around you. You found comfort in unlimitless nothingness and even now as an adult you feel safe. You are able to fight the sleepy state, well maybe you drifted away a little bit, and as you see Carol's house you are fully conscious again, anxiety of what's coming slowly creeping in.
You enter the house, talk with Carol and Darcy about the last party and upcoming events, work stuff, your studies and Darcy's new projects at her school. You can never fully understand what she is talking about, too much chemical talk but you are so proud of her and happy that she can feel fulfilled with where she is. You are always interested in Carol's work and life, maybe that's why you are the closest to her among all your friends. She appreciates the way you treat her as her, not as Darcy's girlfriend or treat both of them as one, because as close as they are, they are still themself. They help you prepare, get your hair fixed, put a nice outfit together, and Carol even let you borrow some of her perfume. In no time you are back in the car going to the unknown location, to meet with a stranger. You are reminding Darcy that you agreed for half an hour of this show and then you are going to be even. She tries to extend it for an hour, using arguments like “ you can't get to know a person in half hour”, or “ you won't be even able to eat”. As you pull in front of the restaurant you see three Michelin stars in the front of it and you almost choke.
“ARE YOU KIDDING ME? IN HERE I'M NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET A GLASS OF WATER WITH MY BUDGET!” It was louder than you anticipated and the doorman put his focus on the car in front of him. He started going into your direction but Darcy opened the window at the right time.
“Everything is okay, we just need a second.” He smiled and without any words pointed at the parking spot a little bit further from the main door. Carol took a clue and parked there. Darcy took her seat belt off and turned to you, making you jump.
“Darcy this is too much, and why do I even have to get so dressed up for someone I will turn down in the first two minutes?” You don't want to do this, and you can't be more clear than that. As bad as it sounds you are planning on being just as honest with your date.
“Give them a chance, Jesus, why are you so negative, they're gonna pay for you.” She got out of the car and opened your door rushing you outside. The restaurant is far enough from your house to have a real struggle with coming back, so you have to rely on Darcy and you are not enjoying this feeling. Just when you stepped outside it came to you what she said.
“They!? What do you mean by They ?! Darcy is that -'' You can't even finish, Darcy closes your door, jumps back into her seat and as in a getaway car tells Carol to drive. You can only hear a faint have fun coming from her window. You run your hand down your face, taking a deep breath in and decide to get through it as ripping off a bandaid, fast but painfully. You straighten out your outfit, little crevices created by the short ride are easy to clean up and the cleaned up outfit helps you a lot with your confidence. You feel like you will need a lot of it during that dinner. Constant tag and pull with the redheads is exhausting and staying afloat as they try to drown you down feels like a survival chore. You can't help but be angry at Darcy, you know she wants good, you know you promised but you feel a little bit betrayed. You can't really pinpoint why but the feeling spreads uncomfortable through your body, or maybe it's just the cold that went back with the sun setting down. Beautiful purple color of the sunset lets you grab the last bits of energy, hope and the feeling of rest. You know it will end as soon as you turn around to enter the restaurant or when the sun will finally set. It's sad that you can't wait for the latter.
“Half hour Yn, just half hour.” You talk to yourself hoping it will help you feel the back bone of your character and get through it smoothly enough. What 30 minutes can do right?
You enter the building, or rather you are led by the doorman through two sets of doors. After the second one you are met with a man in a suit, he looks important, you are wondering if that's the owner, maybe a menager, they are always around right? He looks so elegant that his status needs to be at a high level. Little lost in your head you hear him speak when the doors are closing behind you.
“May I take your coat miss?” Miss? Coat? You thought that this man is… and he is just…. It's going to be long, thirty minutes.. This is not something you enjoy, not something that is a part of your world. You just need to survive this. You are wondering how the man will know which coat is yours. He didn't give you a number nor did he take your name. It's all strange and the coat belongs to Carol, you are worrying now about getting it back later.
Restaurant seems much bigger from the outside. The building is huge but the dining area pleasantly small. The kitchen must take a lot of space, you think to yourself approaching a Host of the restaurant. Small wooden desk in front of him looks amazing. Golden leaves decorating the legs as a vine. The whole place is in darker colors but it gives a more elegant and fancy look to it. Smell is not overwhelming which is usually a problem for you in the restaurants, not in this. You can hear a light chatter around,
“Welcome, do you have a reservation?” He asks you with his back straight, his tie carefully secured around his neck. Do you have a reservation? This whole thing feels so out of blue, catching you off guard in every single step, it seems.
“Um… I….” You can't recall their last name, why can't you recall their last name? You fall back into the memory, you follow the steps of the day you meet them. You went to work, bus ride, Wanda opened the door for you, she had her suit on, her shirt was open, she had a messy bun on top, she had this nice perfume on her, the same she used last time you saw her at the Carols party. You could feel it clearly when she was tending your wound. Darcy introduced them to you. She said their names, they are both lawyers or Wanda is a lawyer and Natasha is in finances, yes that seems correct. Did she say their last name ? You remember now, she didn't but they gave you their card…. which you didn't even look at, before throwing it away. Then it comes to you, you were supposed to text them last time after the accident, they gave you a new card and you actually have it on you at the back of your phone case. It is very embarrassing trying to get your phone out of its case but also necessary. Host is waiting for you patiently, his face emotionless, he was definitely well trained for his job.
“It should be on the name-” You finally take out a card and look at the last name. “-Romanoff, or Maximoff. One of those.” It's strange to see that they are married, but they still use separate last names, it might be just for business and you decide on asking them if you will have to speak at all. At least it's going to be something to talk about. You smoothly follow the host to your table, moving between the tables you can see all the food prepared for other guests and your stomach lets you know about its empty state. Smell coming from each of the tables will not be very helpful in the next 30 minutes, because there is no way that you are going to let them pay for anything, not with these prices. At the far left corner of the restaurant you can see Wanda and Natasha chatting between each other, their hands together on the table, Natasha is lightly smoothing her wifes hand with her thumb, laughing at something she said. It's the first time they don't seem like big, scary rich assholes, more human than before. You are afraid, or maybe you are sure it's going to drop as soon as they are going to see you. First to notice you is Natasha, she lets go of Wandas hand and stands up to greet you. You don't want to make a scene in the restaurant, so you kiss her cheek as her hand lingers on your waist and you do the same with Wanda. Looking at them, seeing how dressed up they are, you are glad that Darcy made you wear the clothes she prepared, if you would dress yourself, you would for sure stand out, not in a good way. You take your place on an empty chair when Wanda starts speaking to you.
“I hope you didn't have any problems finding us?” She sounds soft, soft enough for you to find it degrading.
“Except not knowing your last names it was pretty easy.” You say in a rough voice and that makes Natasha look back to the man that brought you to the table.
“You didn't have you, I gave him clear instructions. It's not that hard to do the only thing you are here for. I'm going to talk to him.” She drops the napkin on an empty table and stands up. You are not sure how you find your voice, maybe it's the nervous atmosphere that Natasha is adding to, or maybe your empathy for a fellow customer service worker, but you speak up.
“Sit down!” To your surprise, she does with a shocked face, while her wife laughs a little.
“Can we just order and get this over with? It feels like work.” You ask and that makes Wanda look at you quizzingly.
“What do you mean baby? Get it over with?” You put down the menu that you were reading and look her in the eyes.
“I promised Darcy that I will be here for at least half an hour. It started five minutes ago and I'm counting the time. I didn't want to be here and I found out just when she dropped me off that I'm meeting with you both.” She looks hurt and you need to address that before it gets more messy, even more that Natasha looks angry. You look between them and continue.
“Look-” You run your hand on your face, as it is supposed to take off the worry. “-I’m sorry, but i'm not looking for dates, or relationships. Any kind of relationship.” You say pointing your finger between them.
“Can we just spend this 25 minutes talking or whatever and I promise you won’t have to waste any more time on me.” That makes Wanda's face soften. She looks like she is about to say something but Natasha cuts in.
“Sure, let's just order something.” In the next three minutes you placed an order and as much as they pursued you to get something to eat you didn't get anything. You got a coffee which cost twenty five dollars. You regret that decision, thinking that you would be okay with the tap water. Your stomach starts to hurt with how empty it is and all the smells are affecting it in a horrible way. Wanda and Natasha placed their orders and food came in faster then it took to order it. They are really at the top in this restaurant. They start eating while you enjoy your coffee. Wanda tries to start a light conversation, to make it a little bit less awkward for all of you.
“So Yn, Darcy told us you were working today, was it a good shift?”
“Decent, I got my first article to do a final edit to.” You say and take a sip of coffee, looking at Wanda enjoying her pasta alfredo. You feel yourself salivating and you probably look too long at her food, because it makes her wonder if you actually want anything.
“Yn, are you sure you are not hungry?” Wanda says and her wife finally joins the conversation.
“We know we picked an expensive restaurant, let us get you something to eat sugar.” She is about to call the waiter to the table again.
“No. No, Natasha no, I'm really okay. Please don’t.” She looks at you, deeply studying your eyes, knowing that you are doing that because you are uncomfortable with the prices, but still she doesn't want to go against you, as much as she wishes she could. With each passing time she spends with you, she realizes that you can be destructive for yourself, and she would gladly take that away from you. You feel your phone vibrate in your pocket but you decide to keep it there for the next fifteen minutes. Time feels like it stretches itself, making you feel like it has been over an hour. You keep your fingers on the brim of your coffee mug, trying to make your legs stop shaking, and your muscles twitching. It's not that you are nervous, you are past that, but your medication is wearing off and you can feel it. At this time you would either take a second dose if you were at work, or with your friends, or just people in general, or you would take some actions to make yourself comfortable. Caffeine doesn't help, and it was a bad idea as it just makes you more and more sleepy with every second. Your left hand is laying on the table and the tablecloth feels awful against your fingertips. Material feels like it lingers on your skin even after you pick your hand up, it's too soft and too harsh at the same time, like a used sandpaper sheet. You wish you could pick your hand up but you can't. It feels embarrassing to do so, not because of the action but because of the reason to do so, so you force yourself to keep it that way. Only fifteen minutes longer. It feels like you said it to yourself an hour ago but with the time speed in your brain, it was only a minute. You are physically restraining yourself from counting seconds, numbers help you stay sane but you can't do that right now, if you would, everything that two woman in front of you are speaking about would go into the void, and as a center of entertainment for them right now you can’t allow yourself to drift off, they would notice. Clutter of silverware feels like it's happening at the front part of your skull, Lady at the table on your right has some good insights about new generations of doctors, she is a doctor too, she has her id clipped to her bag. Man to whom she is speaking is sweating a lot, he is nervous and it seems like they are on a date. One girl, a waiter, has had enough of today, she stands at the corner next to the bar, nobody can see her, or maybe nobody just pays attention, except you. Sometimes putting on a work uniform equals disappearing. She is running her hands on her thighs, looking up to the ceiling, she tries to stop crying. That makes you look around the room, a man in a big suit is red on his face, he was just yelling, or arguing since you didn't hear anything before. He shoves food into his mouth like it's going to calm his nerves.
“Are you even listening?” Natasha calls out and just then her voice breaks through all the loud noise around you.
“Hm? I'm sorry I just-”
“Wasn't listening. Look, I understand you don't want to be here, but a little decency wouldn't hurt you. We are trying hard to get to know you, not use you, not sponsor you, not even embarrass you, just get to know you. I don't understand what's so awful about it.” She throws a napkin at the table and stands up.
“I need to use the restroom, I'll be right back.” She looks at her wife when she speaks, she is mad, you didn't mean to make her mad, or disappointed, you really do appreciate the interest.
“Nat, I really didn't mean to- '' You are trying to defend yourself but she is already gone, you lie your head low and massage your traps with your hands, it's painful but helpful. You get this uneasy feeling inside your stomach and you can't say if that's the lack of food or the nerves. Just then you realize that you picked your hand up from uncomfortable table cloth and you make a mental note not to put it down at the same place.
Wanda swallows the food she just finished, your time is almost up and you are grateful for it, even more that since the moment you went into the restaurant you were doing nothing more but disappointing everybody, including yourself. You decide to speak to her, maybe try to explain yourself a little why you are acting that way.
“Im sorry Wanda.”
“I know.” A moment of silence lingers between you when she grabs her wine glass, not taking her back off of her chair, stretching her arm out.
“I'm sorry about her, I’ m not saying she is not right yn, i feel the same way, but my wife is just very frustrated by you.” You hang your head low, like a child being scolded, you tell yourself that you shouldn't care about their opinion, but it matters, everybody's opinion matters and you hate that about yourself.
“I wasn't aware that I was that irritating for her. That's just an additional reason for why you shouldn't waste your time on me Wanda.” She smiles at you and shakes her head.
“Sexually frustrated Yn, emotionally frustrated. She really wants to get to know you, and she is being on her best behavior holding back every second we are spending with you.” That makes you even more confused.
“What do you mean?”
“You are a precious one aren't you?” This time you can be sure it was degrading. You straighten up your posture.
“That little stunt you did at the party?” She leans in, making you once again lost in the smell of her perfumes. You don't say anything but she can see on your face how oblivious you are.
“You remember that moment when Natasha went to you to simply try and devour you? That little stunt you pulled with her belt? Please you had to see her reaction, she has the same look every time she looks at you, and to be honest i don't blame her. I had a fun night thanks to you baby, it's a shame you weren't there.” She finishes the sentence and then her wine. You feel like you have finished all the air, it's hard to breathe and it's too warm, and you don't understand those feelings, they put you in a fight or flight state, but at the same time you are glued to the chair, not able to move. Wanda puts her hand on yours and interlocks your fingers, you are not able to stop her or yourself.
“Yn, breath.” She looks a little worried but at the same time highly entertained.
“What's going on?” Natasha comes back to the table and her voice brings you back and makes you let go of Wanda’s hand like it's burning you.
“Oh nothing love, I just told Yn how much fun I had because of her after the party.”
“Wanda-” Natasha says in a scolding way, seeing the state Wanda put you in. “- I apologize for my wife's sugar. Sometimes she can't keep her mouth shut.” Their holding hands and being so tender with each other, it makes you feel like an intruder.
“I thought you like it wide open.” Wanda's comment makes you choke on your coffee and it goes down the wrong pipe, sending you into a coughing spree. A girl, the waiter you saw before comes right in to check on you. You assure her that everything is okay, but she still leaves a glass of water for you on the side, sending you a warm smile.  Wanda and Natasha cut the topic seeing in what way it's affecting you and you fall into light conversation for the last couple of minutes. You ask them about work and they can't say much other than it’s classified sounding like from csi miami series, but either way you are very much interested in stories they encounter while being at work.
Your phone vibrates a couple of more times and at the fifth time you can’t not pick it up. You assume who is trying to reach you but as you pull your phone out of the inside pocket in your jacket you can see that you were very wrong. You have ten messages and five missed calls, all from Shuri, and she never calls you. You immediately get this worried look and they can see it.
“What's going on Yn?”
“Is everything okay?” You don't even pick your head up to look at them.
“I'm sorry I need to call back. I'm sorry.” You dial Shuri on your phone and call her back without getting up from the table. You just turn your body side to them to get a little bit more private. She pics up after two dial tones.
“Shuri!? Is everything okay? What's going on?” You are holding your phone with your right hand and playing with the rings on your left hand. Your voice is low trying not to disturb anybody's dinner or conversations, fortunately your table is far enough from others. Natasha and Wanda pay close attention to you, their hands together in a caring manner.
“Now?” You ask and look at your watch.
“I'm really far away from the city-” You pinch your nose with your fingers.
“- I can try to call a cab-” A moment of silence from your side let's Wanda slip a fast question.
“Is something wrong?” She whispers to you laying her hand on the table close to you. You look at her apologetically.
“-it's not about the money Shuri. I'm just limited right now. How much time do I have? An hour? Okay, yeah I'm going to figure something out, don't worry about it I got you, just send me the location.” With that you hang up the phone and start looking around to collect your things, which you don't have because everything is in your coat. You look at them and you don't know what to say, you are just about to cut short a 30 minute meeting in which you already disappointed them so much. They are both worried that much you can say but Natsaha is definitely clenching her jaw, it's not a good sign. You try to find in yourself the right words to turn them down one last time, but you can't, not with this level of stress.
“I need to go.” You stand up looking between both of them. You take thirty dollars from your pocket and put it under your coffee mug.
“I'm sorry.” With that you leave them and don't provide them any explanation, to be honest they didn't ask. You move into the exit and wait a second for the man to give you your, actually Carol’s coat. You thank him and go outside trying to figure out what you are going to do.
Natasha and Wanda, a little disappointed with how things went, decided to finish dinner and head home. Fifteen minutes after you left they exit the restaurant and wait for their car to be brought. Just as they receive keys from the worker they hear a loud conversation on the side of the building. Natasha looks around the corner and sees you packing around with your phone in your ear, for a second she thinks about leaving you but her wife walks past her towards you.
“I understand but I don't have enough cash! You know how far it is, i can cash app the money whats the problem?! No don’t- . Ugh!” Clearly someone hung up on you. You are looking at your phone typing aggressively, you seem worried out of your mind.
“Okay Yn what's going on?” Wanda asks when her wife joins her and you are surprised to see them. You take a second before you reply.
“I can’t find a cab, it's nothing really. Again sorry it turned out this way.” Your phone rings again and you pick it up so fast that the second ring tone doesnt come.
“Yes, yes I called. I need a cab to the city center-” You pace around not being able to stay in place, even more that you just got this feeling in your legs that you can't describe. Each night before sleep, when your medicine wears off completely your legs have this tingly feeling, like slight electric shocking waves going through your muscles. It's nothing pleasant. Usually a hot shower helps but the alternative is just to keep moving, so that's what you do.
“- HOW MUCH? Okay yeah, yeah you too.” You sit down, cross legged at the curb, your left palm is open while your right is holding the phone, lightly tapping it on your left. Natasha crouches in front of you and tries to catch eye contact. You don't look up so she snatches the phone from your palm.
“Hey!” You reach to grab it back but she already gave it to Wanda that stands behind her.
“Tell us what's wrong, sugar?” You look between them, they look at you gently, worried, trying to read your expressions while you are breathing heavily with stress, your upper back is tense and you would love to shake it off of you. Without giving them too much information you speak up.
“I need to pick up someone from the city center and I should be there-'' You look at your watch trying to figure out how much time passed from your conversation with Shuri. “- in forty minutes. I called a couple of companies but they either don't have anybody in the area, or they don't have a cash app and I don't have that much cash on me.” You explain carefully, trying hard not to sound crazy or overemotional, even if you feel your body shaking. Natasha is standing up, it makes you feel like she is hovering above you, and you don't have energy to fight for your phone. To your surprise she stretches her hand towards you and helps you stand up. You follow, and the feeling of her skin on yours is very different from Wandas. It's hard to tell if that's a good or a bad thing. With both of them your whole relationship, if you can even call seeing them three times, a relationship, you had an off feeling but at the same time some connection that wanted to be made.
“Come on, we’re gonna drive you.” Natasha says with her face straight, she takes the space leaving no room for you to decline. You are in the tight spot, Shuri is counting on you and you are needed, there is a big possibility you won't be able to do this without their help, and oh god how much you hate it.
“No, i'm going to- i will-” Wanda interrupts your protest already opening the front passenger door for you.
“You will do what? You are out of options, Yn. Get in.” And you do, with her hand on the small of your back you take the space next to Natasha. For a second you are confused about why you are sitting in the front seat.
“ Tell me where to go.” Natsaha doesn't even take a look at you, she seems pissed and you don't blame her, you would probably hate yourself in their position. ruining the date, making them do something for you, ruining their day schedule. They both probably have a thousand better places to be right now, and they are stuck with you. Awkwardness of the situation doesn't help the anxiety you have about the passing time, you are scared of running late, always, but in this situation even more. After giving them the address and helping with directions from time to time you are 5 minutes away from your destination.
“So who is Shuri?” Wanda asks from the back seat, taking your focus off of the road in front of you.
“Oh she studies at the university with me, she is Tony Stark’s best student.” You explain briefly.
“That Stark? What a small world.” Natasha comments taking a fast look at her wife in the back mirror.
“ That's nice, baby, but I meant who is she to you.” Are you imagining things or does she sound jealous? You can't help but wonder. You are not sure what makes you open up in front of them in any way, but you do.
“She is my-” you make a little pause, wondering what words you should use. “-friend, a really good friend.”
“Hm a really good one you say?” Wanda is pushing you a little bit trying to bring some more information out of you.
“Yeah, we were together for two years, she is like family to me. Actually her whole family kind of took me in, as a part of them.” Too much Yn, too much, You bite your tongue, probably a little too late, you are mad at yourself for revealing that much about your past, to total strangers. That was always an issue for you, if someone was willing to listen you were eager to talk. That's unfortunately not a safe thing to do, at least usually.
“So we went out to pick up your ex?” Natasha is straight forward, and strangely you respect that. At that moment you arrive in front of elementary school.
“Actually no.” You answer quickly and get out of the car, looking straight at the little boy waiting with his teacher near the gate. You walk in their direction.
“JUNIOR!” You yell out for him and the moment he sees you, his backpack is on the ground and he runs into your direction. You catch him into your arms and spin him around as he hugs himself close to your neck, securing his legs around your torso. You walk still holding him up to pick up his backpack. You didn't realize that both Natasha and Wanda got out of the car and were approaching you.
“It's been a while since we saw you miss Yn. Have a nice day.” Teacher sends Junior T’Challa a wave and goes back into the building. You are written down on the list to pick up Shuri’s nephew. It's not the first time for you to do that, but it's true that it's been a while. Boy refuses to let you go as you try to pick up his backpack. Before you can do it, struggling a little bit Natasha snatches it from the ground looking down at you.
“Yn? Who is that?” Junior asks you and to be honest you hoped that they would already leave.
“This is Natasha and Wanda, they drove me here, which I'm very thankful for, but now they have to go. Right?” You hope that the hint is not too small.
“Actually we have the whole day reserved for you Yn. You and this little boy now.”
“Im T'Challa Junior.” He says proudly, getting out of your arms at the same time.
“It's Shuris nephew.” You kneel down, fixing his jacket. The water proof material got stuck in the zipper. You take the piece out and zip it all the way up, trying to keep him nice and warm.
“She got stuck with Profesor Stark.” Boy gets visibly sad after that information. You are thinking for a second if you should do something with him, or just get him home and take care of your responsibilities, which to be honest are piling up. You got three texts about essays that are needed for tomorrow. All for the same class and the same topic, which is the worst case scenario for you.
“Don't worry, Yn here is actually taking you to the theme park. We are going to have a lot of fun.” Natasha throws information out of nowhere, without asking you, giving you any heads up, and taking full control over the situation, and you thought for a split second to get violent with her. How dare she use a little boy's emotions against you? Yes, sure, it's a nice thing to do, but you told them specifically that you don't have too much time, that you have half an hour for them and that's it, that you don't want to be near them or do more than necessary to keep your promise. Which part of that she didn't get? Wanda notices how angry you got after her wife’s idea, and as much as she thinks about resolving this issue, this also might be a good idea to show you that they are not so bad. She kneels down next to you to get to the boys and your eye level, her eyes are soft, apologetic almost.
“It's going to be fun, Yn. You’ll see.” Junior gets excited and follows Natasha to the car, you are right behind them with wanda. How are you supposed to take happiness out of his hands? You are not a monster.
“Cheer up Yn.” Wanda is walking on a very thin line.
“Cheer down Wanda, this is hopefully the last time I have to see you both.” Leaving shocked Wanda behind, you get into the place with Junior on the back and let Natasha decide where to go. Make him happy, and survive. That's all that matters right now. You would give your life for this boy, what's one day, even if it means you staying up all night to catch up with your work, because of course you agreed to take those additional papers for tomorrow. You need money, lots of it, so you need to work… a lot. Just as you were getting nervous about it and your bank account your phone started going off with text messages. One after another, drilling a hole in your calmness. You don't even read them, you decide to call right away and you can't be bothered enough that you are not alone.
“What do you want?” Wanda looks at you worried, but smiles at the little boy to keep him calm.
“No.” Some arguing can be heard through the phone on the other side of the call. Even when you put it on the lowest volume, it's so loud that they can hear.
“You do want me to starve, don't you?... At the end of the week, that's all I have to say to you. Leave me alone.” You finish your call and mute your phone, of course after filing Darcy and Shuri up on what's happening and where are you going. Wanda and Natasha didn't ask, hoping you will explain what the call was about, it didn't sound good.
The rest of the day passed good but horrible slowly. Junior had so much fun, riding with Natasha and playing games with Wanda, or sitting down and eating corn dogs with you. Seeing him happy makes you happy, but the mental load that you are carrying with you is heavy enough that you can't relax or enjoy this for even a second. Going through stuff in your head is a normal thing for you, but at the end of the day, when you're actually sitting down to do what you have to do you feel like you went through the same task five times already. It's simply dreadful, not mentioning the lack of any satisfaction when you are actually done.
Shuri tells you that she is already home, Junior is tired, and you are also so ready to go home. You asked Natasha and Wanda, who were trying so, so, so hard to get to you in any way, that it was irritating at some point, to give T'Challa a ride. Normally you would feel bad about it but it was their idea in the first place.
Shuris home is a little bit outside of the city, not far from the subway thankfully. When Natasha parks her car at the side of the street, you collect your bag and get out of the car. Walking to the other side of it you zip your jacket up, goosebumps all over your body, reminding you physically how cold it is at this time of year. Street lights give off your favorite time of the day vibe, even if it's far till three am. You open the door on the right side and slowly unbuckle Junior from the seat.
“Don’t.” You tell Wanda, seeing her undoing her seatbelt, also to go out and help you. Surprisingly she listens to you. You take the boy into your arms and let him hug you half asleep, you hold him up with your right hand and take his backpack with your left. It's heavier than it looks. Actually they both are, or maybe you are just really tired, it's been a long day. you go to the gate with him and Wanda and Natasha are watching your every move. You ring the bell at the gate and later the main doors are open. Two people go out of the house, the older woman takes the boy from your hands and the younger takes the back pack. Redheads can't hear a thing but they can see you talking with the younger woman.
“I don't know how to thank you. He texted me half way throughout the day, how much he missed you and how much fun he is having.” Shuri is so genuine with you, she always was, pretty tough sometimes, but always real, and you respect that.
“You know I love this boy, he is family.”
“And you are ours Yn. You have always been, and you will always be a part of this family.” These cheesy moments between you two is not something any of you are used to, even when you were together,” i love you” sounded more like a, “bye i see you later”, rather than “my heart is with you every second when we are apart”. Romanticizing your life much? Maybe, but how can you not, when you want to survive in this world, with your heart intact. Shuri hugs you for a goodbye, and gives you a light kiss on the cheek, which does not go unnoticed by your dates.
“I don't like it, Wanda.”
“Would you calm down Nat? You did everything today to push her away, and each moment I've been trying to fix the situation that YOU created, you were shutting me up.” That accusation is shocking for Natasha, and she will not back down from defending herself, even if it's coming from her wife. She almost starts talking again, giving her piece of thoughts on the topic, but she sees you walk away and that takes priority at this second.
“We are going to talk about it at home.” She points her finger at Wanda, her voice sounds like flowing out through clenched teeth, and she is definitely not agreeing with Wanda. She doesn't even point out to her wife what's happening, she just goes out of the car and walks fast after you, Wanda confused but right at her heels.
“And where do you think you’re going?” The force with which you turn around makes Natsaha stop immediately. Your eyes are dark, your jaw is clenched, as well as your fists.
“Natasha, calm down!” Wanda joins you at the side of the road, it's really quiet in this neighborhood, the only sound slicing the silence is the roaring of the car that was left with the engine running. You pinch the bridge of your nose, irritation, exhaustion, this feeling of wasted day get to you, overstretching your patience to the fucking limits. You don’t care, you can’t find in yourself to care, and your promise was fulfilled. You respect and love Carol, but it doesn't mean that you have to feel the same way about her friends.
“What are you, five?” This is definitely not something they expected of you. Even everything they have heard about you, always patient, collected, good, the view in front of them doesn't fit any of this.
“How dare you deciding about my day, my plans, and using feelings of a little boy to get me to do something, just because your fucking ego is bruised?” Natasha makes a step to your direction, bringing her finger up to defend herself and her wife.
“No! I'm not done!” Taken aback she doesn't interrupt you. As horrible Wanda feels about making you feel this way it's really interesting for her to see someone putting her wife into place.
“For the whole day you are talking so much, about wanting to get to know me, getting close to me, but you did absolutely nothing to make me feel comfortable in your presence. When you gave me the ride, seeing the position i was in, i though, just for a second, this can be good, we can try this out,  and then…then you took your fucking place and made me feel like i have no say in my life.”
“You are being so dramatic Yn! We gave you and this boy a great day, you should be grateful!” Natasha had enough.
“I have a test tomorrow, an article to edit, and three essays to write, that should be done by now. And no, I don't have a second deadline, I don't have more time, and I will have to stay up all night, without sleep to get everything done on time. In the morning I have work, then a test at university and then my shift at the bar! You thought I had thirty minutes with you for fun? If that means that im being dramatic then fucking yes, I am dramatic!”
“You are working too much.” Wanda comments with this horribly soft voice of her, condescending reasoning, like it's so simple for her, like she can solve all your issues, if you are just willing to give them all control over your life. You scoff at her like she said something funny. Natasha takes out her wallet, and takes out  two thousand in cash, you never saw this amount of money in cash, well maybe once when you were working in black.
“Is this enough to buy your time? Your pride? Is that enough for you to get over yourself and let someone take care of you or at least fucking try?” She steps close to you, so close that you feel warmth coming from her body, creating too much of a contrast with the weather, you feel sick. Wanda grabbed her wife's hand, but it wasn't enough to stop her from speaking a couple words too much. You look at the money in Nat’s hand. Couple of papers that would solve your issues for at least two months, something that means nothing to her, that she has too much of, something that would save you. The control that it has over you is not fair, but life isn’t fair, it never was, it never will be, and you are highly aware of it. You look her in the eyes, and you grab at the last bits of your control, pride you have for yourself, those bits of respect that you are trying to save.
“You ignorant fuck, you really dont get any of this do you? Fuck you Natasha.” You leave them and start your long way home, this was a mistake, and you are glad that it's over, finally you can focus on yourself again. All they did since the day you met them is make your life fall apart with every way imaginable. It's good that it's over Yn, you tell yourself and enter the subway, already starting writing your first essay on your phone, the topic power laughing at you, as the universe decided that you are its best comedy.

Carol Danvers x reader - different with you
Tumblr media
Heyy, I have a request... It's where yn is a bit of a playgirl and she dates around the people Monica Rambeau knows (e.g. Wanda, she could be inside the hex too). Shes dating carol now, which Monica doesnt like, but starts to warm up to ger as time goes by thank youu- Anon💜
A/N: mentions of spoilers from The Marvels film
Standing on Carol’s chair on her ship, you looked at her as she came walking in and you smirked a little, hands in your hips.
“You know it’s rude to leave me waiting here asshole.”
Carol rolled her eyes, gesturing behind her.
“We’ve got issues.”
“That’s no way to talk about your new friends.”
“(Y/N)!”
You chuckled a little bit, and you jumped over the back of the chair, walking over, you ran a hand over her shoulder, and leant your back against hers.
You looked at the two staring at you and you smirked as you found a familiar face among them.
“No. No why are you here?” She asked.
“Come on Monica! Give a friend a hug!”
You grinned walking over to her and she used her powers, making you just walk right through her and you laughed a bit.
“You seriously can’t be dating (Y/N).” Monica sighed.
“Wait! Captain Marvel has a girlfriend?!” The new girl gasped.
Carol sighed, walking over she placed a hand on your face, pushing you towards the other side of the ship.
“Kamala, this is (Y/N), (Y/N), this is Kamala. And apparently you two have already met.”
“I’m telling you right now, end this relationship.” Monica said sternly.
You pointed between you and Carol.
“What? This? Nah.”
“Carol you have to end it, I know (Y/N), I know her reputation. Why are you even here (Y/N)?”
You shrugged a little bit, giving a small wave to the teenager who was still just staring at you in awe.
“Hey, you’re not the only one who walked through that witch hex Monica, I’m just lucky my powers didn’t get all screwed around with yours.”
Carol punched you in the shoulder.
“There’s a kid on the ship!”
“I didn’t even swear!”
You laughed a little bit, throwing yourself back down in her chair and you looked at them all.
“So, what’s the game plan?”
“Will you help us?!” Kamala whisper yelled.
“Do you want me to help you?”
“No.”
“Yes!”
You laughed a little, turning to look at your girlfriend who shrugged a little bit.
So, you decided to help them.
Learning everything there was about their powers, and what had to be done in order to making fighting a lot easier for them.
It had been a while, and for the most part they had begun to work as a team.
“Hey (Y/N)?”
You looked up from what you were doing, setting the screwdriver down.
“Sup kid?”
“How did you and Captain Marvel meet?” She asked.
You hummed a bit, leaning against the wall of ship.
Monica looked up from some of the research you had laying around, and she walked over, crossing her arms.
“Yeah, how exactly did you two meet?”
“Well, to put it simply, she saved my life. I was doing some work for shield, I think you may have been there actually Monica, the undercover mission I did?”
“Yeah, I remember it. You never came back after, everyone said you went straight into another.”
You laughed a little, shaking your head.
“No, I was badly injured.”
You watched as Carol walked in, trying to tend to a few of her injuries and you rolled your eyes.
Snapping your fingers to get her attention you gestured to the chair you had pulled in front of you and she sat down.
You began to tend to her wounds, and you looked at Kamala who had a few minor injuries and gestured to a chair and then the spot next to Carol.
Kamala did that, and you held up a hand to her.
“How has was it?” Kamala asked.
“The reports said it was some minor injuries, nothing much to worry about.” Monica replied.
Carol scoffed.
“Minor? I swear I have never seen someone bleed so much.”
You smacked the back of her head and went to tending to Kamala’s injuries.
“Unfortunately I’ve been stuck with her since, she just won’t leave for some reason.” Carol said.
“Alright, you know what, I won’t help you then. I’m going to go annoy fury.”
Everybody laughed.
“Keep laughing, I’ll do it.”
You gave the two a thumbs up, letting them know that you were done, and you went back to what you were working on.
You grabbed a few more things and you added them, and then you walked over to the three women.
“Here, one for each of you.”
“What is it?” Kamala asked.
“(Y/N) has a particular skill for making things, looking at this I’d guess defence of some sort?” Monica asked.
“Yeah, close. It’s filled with small particles of light I compressed. They’re designed to respond to injury, and will act as a temporary solution if you need it until you can seek medical attention.”
“Woah, that’s possible?” Monica asked.
You nodded, leaning against the ship wall.
“Her powers allow her to control and recode the construct of light. Using it to her advantage for what she needs.” Carol said.
“You’ve been studying.” You smirked.
“I’ve had no choice.”
You grinned a little, and Monica looked at you.
Usually she was used to you flirting with every woman in sight, sure you would date women but you wouldn’t be all thay committed to them when it came down to them.
You weren’t a cheater, that was one thing you weren’t.
But you were known for ending relationships just because you were bored, or just for fun.
You were the kind of woman everybody wanted, that every woman wanted to be.
Smart.
Beautiful.
Strong.
Dangerous.
You were the whole package deal.
But she did notice when it came to Carol you were different, gentle, caring, you gave her every ounce of attention you had.
“Oh, by the way, Monica, I’ve been going over your research, and I think we can find a way around it if you can tolerate to be around me long enough to go through it with me?”
She laughed a little, nodding her head.
“You two no powers for at least a few hours, I need Monica to use hers.”
With that you gestured for Monica to follow you, and she decided that you weren’t all that bad, though all the light conflict that had gone on between the pair of you had become normal for you two

You Saved Me pt. 2 (Natasha Romanoff x Reader)
Part One Here
summary: after r saved Nat and they shared a kiss, what happens when feelings are talked about after the event?
pairings: Natasha Romanoff x reader, Carol Danvers x reader (platonic)
genre: fluff
word count: 1206
A/N holy heck i kinda can’t believe i posted 3 oneshots this weekend. anyway, i’m really happy that i got sm writing in, but i probably won’t post again until next weekend. i’m taking longer shifts at work this week so i can still hit 40 hours and have friday off to see bw so that’s gonna be tiring (i work with kids and a lot of them are marvel and nat stans it’s adorable) plus i’m gonna stay off social media starting wednesday to avoid spoilers. so i’ll see y’all next weekend! feel free to send in requests in the meantime :D
“What do I do, Carol?” You asked, pacing around the room. “She hasn’t said a word to me and it’s been two days.”
“Y/N, calm down,” she said, putting her hands on your shoulders. “It’s okay,”
“It’s not okay, Carol!” You replied, pulling away from your best friend to continue pacing. “She kissed me! And now she’s ignoring me! What if she never talks to me again? What if she hates me now?”
“Y/N, I can guarantee she doesn’t hate you. I think you just need to talk to her.”
“How? She runs away every time we’re in the same room,”
“Then corner her in her own room,” Carol suggested with a shrug.
You cocked your head, thinking about it.
“As terrible and invasive of an idea that is, it’s the only solution I can think of; let’s do it!”
You didn’t even bother knocking on her door. She’d probably never answer, and she would never just leave her door unlocked.
So you and Carol stood outside, ready to put your plan into action.
“Are you sure about this?” She asked, which you nodded in response immediately.
“I’ve got to talk to her somehow,”
She nodded back to you, then lifted you off the ground. She flew into the air until you had reached the second floor, right outside Natasha’s bedroom.
Taking a deep breath in, you gripped the outside of the window, pulling it open. Once you had a secure grip inside, Carol released her grip on you so you could climb in.
“Y/N? What the hell?” Came the voice of Natasha as you stumbled inside.
“Uh, hi, Nat.” You said, standing up. “We need to talk,”
“And you decided to climb through my window to tell me that?”
“Yes. But that’s besides the point,” you started. “I think we need to talk about what happened,”
Natasha let out a deep breath, but then sat on her bed and motioned for you to sit next to her.
“So talk,” she instructed.
You let out a few shaky breaths, trying to think of words as Natasha continued staring at her.
“The kiss,” you managed to get out.
“What about it?” She asked.
You could feel yourself blushing. Unfortunately for you, because of your fire powers, your blushing was a lot more noticeable. You had to be careful, or you could accidentally set something on fire if you couldn’t calm yourself down.
“Well, Y/N,” she began, scooting closer to you. “Since it seems that you’re at a loss for words, I suppose I can do the talking instead,”
Your cheeks flushed even more as she slowly brought a hand to your face.
“You’re so warm,” she said at almost a whisper, leaning her face closer to yours.
“I-” You weren’t sure what to say, but you liked where this was going.
But it’s not what you came here for.
“No,” you said, scooting back away from her. “We need to talk,”
She knew not to push, so she leaned back away from you, keeping her eyes locked on yours.
You closed your eyes, then put one hand to your chest. You took in a few deep breaths. When you opened your eyes, she hadn’t moved a muscle.
Your gaze shifted back and forth from her eyes to her lips a few times. You opened your mouth, wanting so bad to say what you needed to say.
Natasha noticed your struggle, so she gently placed her hands on top of yours.
“Take your time,” she said softly, giving your warm hands a gentle squeeze.
“I’m not sure what it meant to you, but it meant something to me,” you finally got out. “I don’t know what you wanted it to mean for us. I don’t know if you wanted it to just be a kiss, or if you wanted something else, but it was so much more than just a kiss for me. I really like you, Nat. I’ve had these feelings for you for awhile, and I-”
You were cut off by her lips pressing softly against yours. She only moved them slightly, wanting to make sure you were comfortable.
You were slightly surprised, but leaned into the kiss, keeping your hands connected.
When you parted for air, she smiled at you.
“In case it wasn’t obvious, I really like you too, Y/N,”
You felt yourself smiling so wide, your cheeks would probably start to hurt soon.
You practically bounced towards her again, reconnecting your lips. She kept one hand on yours, and wrapped the other around your neck as she deepened the kiss.
Once you leaned back for breath, you were still smiling.
“So what does this mean for us?” You asked her.
“What do you mean?”
“Well if I like you and you like me, then what does it mean? Are we together now, or are we-”
“I would love nothing more than that, Y/N,”
You were internally squealing with joy at this point. You had to take a few deep breaths to calm yourself, you didn’t want your excitement to cause you to lose control of your powers.
You both leaned in and kissed again, this time, you could both feel each other grinning through the kiss.
That night, as you fell asleep next to your girlfriend, you felt the happiest you had ever been.
The next morning
“Detka,” she said softly, you concealed a smile at the new nickname. “I tried to let you sleep as long as possible, but I have a short mission with Clint and I need to get up and go; but I didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye,”
You rolled over, facing her.
You would be lying if you said you weren’t disappointed. Now that you were together, you were hoping to spend the day together.
“It’s short,” she reminded you. “I’ll be back sometime tonight, then we can do something together tomorrow,”
“Okay,” you agreed.
Natasha leaned down so she could kiss you. She intended for it to be short and sweet, but couldn’t resist herself as soon as she felt you.
Her hands ran through your hair as you pressed yourself against her.
Her tongue entered your mouth, exploring the new territory that was now hers.
She was about to pick you up and bring you up to her level, when she pulled apart.
Your heart skipped a beat when her door opened, revealing a smirking Clint waiting for her.
“Finally,” he muttered.
You and Natasha exchanged glances with each other, then with him.
He rolled his eyes at her glare,
“Hurry up, I’ll meet you in the Quinjet,” he said, then walked out.
Both of your cheeks were about as red as her hair.
“I thought you always kept your door locked?” You said to her.
“I do,” she replied. “Except for the past three days.”
“Why?”
She looked to the floor,
“I was keeping it unlocked, hoping you would come in,” she said so quietly, you almost didn’t hear her. “Which was useless, considering you came in through the window instead,”
Your heart melted at her, feeling a smile creep up on your face.
You stood up, then gave her one quick kiss.
“Have a good mission,” you told her.
You both knew Clint would probably never stop teasing her about what he just saw. But nonetheless, you knew it would be okay.
As she got ready and left, you missed her already, but you would be waiting for her.
And as promised, tomorrow, you would be spending the whole day with your girlfriend

Bond of Steel
Pairing: Reader x Super friends, Alex Danvers x fem!reader (just some "more than friends" tension)
Summary: After Kara has a bad run-in with a super villain, it pulls you off of medical leave to go kick some villain butt, but you both end up learning a valuable lesson.
***************************************************************
"Well if we approach from..." you stood around the table with Alex, Wyn, and Jon talking strategy for how to take down the latest threat to national city, with you still recovering from an injury Kara is by herself.
"Alex?... Y/N?..." you heard a breathy and tired voice call out to you, you could hear the heavy shuffling of feet. Turning you were met with a very beaten and battered Kara, your stomach flipped as you looked her over, she was barely standing in front of you cape torn, suit covered in slashes and blood, dirt covering every inch of her.
"Someone get me a gurney over here... NOW!" you commanded, of course staff scurried at the sound of your voice. You trotted over to Kara, turning into a sprint and dive as she started to fall and you caught her, Alex was on your heels tears threatening to fill her eyes as she overlooked her sister, scratches, cuts, and bruises covered her features. You looked down at her torso pressing your hand over hers to hold pressure on the large gash covering her side, blood seeping through her fingers into your hand, you pulled her closer to your body. Two agents rushed over with a gurney and you picked her up placing her on it, she let out a small groan of pain turning towards Alex as you started to rush her to the med bay.
"Someone page Superman!" you called out before leaving the room, you saw all devices coming into hands as everyone jumped at your command.
"She won, she almost killed me..." she whimpered out, you heard her and you could feel your powers going dark, you could feel it flooding back to you, all the memories of when you were an assassin before they rescued you.
"Hold on Kara just hold on..." you whispered to her.
15 minutes later and she was hooked up to every monitor and had special sun lamps on her allowing her to heal, you stood in the hallway looking through the glass doors. Alex walked up next to you, "Is she going to be okay?"
"She's definitely a fighter, we got a transfusion from her cousin and that should help. I should've been there..." you turned to look into her eyes and she saw the green in your eyes deepen.
"Y/N you just got back from a bad injury, I thought I was going to lose you, and you're almost unbreakable... there was no way for us to know that was going to happen."
"I could've helped, pulled her out early, then she wouldn't be laying here like this." you turned back towards her, watching as her chest rise and fell, it killed you to know that one of the Danvers family was hurting like that.
"Y/N..." Alex said softly, stepping forward to wrap an arm around you, leaning her head into your shoulder.
"Here." you said opening your arms to her, she hugged you tears falling as she hid in your neck, you rubbed a hand on her back soothing her until she pulled away eyes red.
"Let me take you back."
"I don't wanna leave her, and I can't go home..."
"You're no good to her here, let me take you to my place." she looked into your eyes and slowly agreed. the car ride back was fairly quiet, even as you pulled up and went into the house, she went right into your bedroom, you put your jackets away and threw your keys into the bowl on your kitchen island grabbing a bottle of water and making your way upstairs. You found a very tired Alex passed out in your bed, lights still on, she had found pajama pants and one of your old college hoodies in your closet and fallen asleep in them. Little did you know that your scent and the warmth was comforting for her, she felt safe, protected. you crawled in next to her after turning the lights out and felt as she gradually moved closer to you.
In the morning you were up before her and down in your kitchen making coffee, she rounded the corner, hair disheveled and plopped herself at your breakfast bar. there wasn't much talking before you changed, grabbing her a change of clothes, it wasn't the first time she had stayed so you made sure to keep so DEO basic uniform items at your place for emergencies.
When you got to work her first instinct was to be by her sisters side after hearing that she was awake and asking for her, Jon took you aside to give you updates, by the time Alex returned she found that you were suited up and in the field.
"Y-Y/N you idiot get back here..." Alex said over your intercoms.
"Alex, stay out of it."
"No Y/N don't do this she almost killed Kara."
"and that was her one chance she won't get another." you said before gently landing on the top of the building. You saw the other woman across the roof from you her royal purple suit a stark contrast to the grey industrial buildings surrounding you, "Eclipse."
"Ahh there she is Apex the infamous hero that fights side by side with Supergirl, do tell is she still breathing?" She said looking over your form, "she's fine" you growled
"Protective... I'm really gonna hate to do this then." you watched her, pace in front of you, your facial expression serious and unchanging, "you know you're too pretty to die, but doesn't mean I can't damage the great and mighty hero."
"I would like to see you try..."
"Try... darling I keep my word."
"That's what the last one said." you smirked seeing the flame light behind her eyes, "Ugh I hate arrogant heroes, but I can fix that..." she said rushing towards you, you let her hit you at the waist and pushed you off the building, you free fell, you quickly flipped and landed on your feet as she tumbled on the ground next to you, you walked over picking her up, but she landed a punch, causing you to stumble back, that when the fist fight started, punch for punch, catching them but the occasional catching you off guard. You both landed punches threw things, ran up sides of buildings, causing mass destruction, after one particular dodge you pivoted back, hearing the screeching of brakes as cars tried to stop, landing one last hard hit you knocked her back, speeding over to stop a large black SUV that wasn't going to stop in time, you ran around helping out a young expectant mother and walking her out of the way.
"Here, stay here you'll be safe."
"Thank yo-watch out." Before you could turn around to react, you turned enough and suddenly she had her hand around your neck picking you up and flying towards a tall glass building she dropped you sending you sliding through the glass and into the offices.
"Ugh..." you tried moving feeling pain start to set in. Before you could move she came flying back through the building picking you up and flying you through more walls, making back into open sky she started dropping throwing you right through a solid status in the city center, you laid there the dust settling around you, feeling the cuts and bruises on your body, she stood over top you in the broken rubble.
"See I told you, I break heroes like you." she laughed before turning around to walk away, instead of accepting defeat you stood.
"who said you broke me?" you shot back in a whisper, she whipped around seeing you standing there dust still celaring.
"whatever doesn't kill you, eventually will...isn't that how that quote goes." she said teasing you.
"Whatever doesn't kill me better run, cause now I'm pissed." you said flying like a bullet towards her, landing hit after hit not giving her time to react, that was until she laid motionless before you, she was still breathing but you stood up walking over to the DEO team and laying her down, you quickly flew off. You landed on the verge of the DEO compound, stumbling through as the glass closed behind you, Alex rushed to your side as you collapsed.
Next time you opened your eyes, you were met by dimmed hospital lights, you stood and looked around, pulling out your IV and getting dressed. a nurse walked in quickly dropping the ipad she was holding before running back out of the room, moments later you heard rushed footsteps as Alex rushed into the room, "Y/N!" she said wrapping her arms around your neck.
"Hey," you said softly.
"I thought I lost you..."
"you can-..." before you could finish she pulled you into a kiss, at first surprising you but then you leaned into it.
"Alex?" you said sort of confused.
"I'm sorry, just don't ever do that to me again, you might be an idiot and think you're invincible but that just makes you my idiot and I can't lose you." she said not sure about making eye contact.
"Don't apologize, it's about time... sleeping at my house, your own drawer I mean come on, I'm not going anywhere." you said with a chuckle.
“shut up” she said tears filling her eyes, she jabbed softly at your side knowing you still felt some pain.
“hey..” you protested, leaning down to nip softly at her neck.
“hey whoa…” you heard Kara’s voice filling the room, “my sister and best friend, no… no ma’am please…”
“hey Kara.” Alex said laughing, before moving aside so she could hug you.
“hey.” You whispered as she squeezed you tight.
“You’re an idiot.”
“Me? For what?!”
“for going alone…”
“nothing i haven’t told her.” Said Alex.
“yea well u think there was a little more heat when you did it…” Kara poked, “you didn’t have to, you could’ve waited.”
“waited for her to come after you again, no chance in hell… I would give my life for this family, no way anyone will ever break that bond and it’s gonna take a lot more than that to kill me… just next time know that no matter what we fight together.”
“Bond of Steel, unbroken.” She said before hugging you again, “now I wanna know what I interrupted earlier and if it’s gonna result in a wedding and maybe some nieces and nephews?”
“oh God Kara…” Alex started blushing hard.
“haha how about in time…” you said laughing as you corralled them out of the room, “all in time.” You smiled down at Alex who was tucked under your strong arm.

Series Masterlist
Summary: Andromeda and Perseus feel they’re made for each other. They know they’re meant to be together, even if the gods say otherwise. Even their constellations are together. When Zeus issues a decree that they defy, his fury forces them apart. Is their love strong enough to overcome even the will of the gods?
Pairing: Peter Parker x Reader
Warnings: Descriptions of injuries, blood, death, the most gut-wrenching angst I’ve ever written holy shit
Word count: 8773 (hahahaha)
A/N: I um....yeah. I wish I had a better explanation for why I did this but I don’t. I just enjoy causing pain. But in all seriousness, I love this little mini series and I’m so happy with how it ended. Thanks to everyone who’s been along for the ride! If you need a refresher on who’s who, here’s the cast list.
The thunder of Zeus’ rage echoed throughout the whole of Olympus as he stormed through the gates, not even bothering with the formality of stopping to greet Athena, who sat befuddled at the desk. Zeus stomped past him and through the crumbling streets that composed what was left of Olympus.
In the five years since Y/N had left Zeus’ temple in Greece, Olympus had felt the brunt of his rage. When he wasn’t destroying random buildings with bolts of lightning, he was terrorizing the citizens, keeping them living in a constant state of fear. Nearly every home had holes or scorch marks from lightning blasts. Stones randomly crumbled from the palace walls. Perseus and Andromeda’s old home had been burnt to cinders years ago. Olympus had fallen into uncontrolled chaos and the residents couldn’t remember the last time they had seen a clear and cloudless sky. The only thing in the entire kingdom that had been spared Zeus’ wrath was the oak tree in the center of the palace grounds.
The king continued through the grounds and into the palace where he was greeted by a frazzled and anxious-looking Hermes.
“Your Majesty,” Hermes greeted with a bow. “How did it go?”
“How do you think it went?” Zeus snapped, pushing past him toward the stairs. Hermes recognized the path he was taking and blanched in fear.
“M-my liege,” he stammered. “Perhaps a reprieve for the prisoner is in order?” Zeus stopped in his tracks, turning slowly back to Hermes with murder and lightning in his eyes.
“You dare to give me orders?” he hissed through his teeth.
“N-no! Of course not, Your Majesty,” Hermes faltered. “But my job is to advise, and as your advisor I feel I must remind you that Perseus is weak. Your current rage is palpable, and I fear he may not survive it. If he dies, you’ll have lost your only bargaining chip.” Both gods were quiet for several moments while Zeus considered his words. Hermes waited with bated breath, flinching each time the thunder rolled outside.
“About time you proved yourself useful,” the king said finally, causing Hermes to let out the breath he’d been holding. “I’ll leave him be for now. He’s more useful to me alive anyway. This visit to Earth was just the first. Andromeda is bound to break sooner or later.” Without another word, Zeus turned and left the hall. Hermes waited until he rounded the corner before turning and making for his own chambers.
Over the centuries, Hermes had made it a habit to collect things from the other immortals. Some of them were sentimental, others more practical, but all of them served a purpose. As he closed his chamber door quietly behind him, Hermes hoped the one he was looking for would be powerful enough to help. He made his way across the room to a trunk he kept at the foot of his bed. It creaked when he opened it and he froze in place, eyes darting around the room. When he was sure he was alone he opened it the rest of the way and looked over the collection inside; a pair of rose-colored glasses from Aphrodite, a small plant gifted to him by Demeter, and a Cerberus fang he had taken on a trip to the Underworld. Hermes dug through the trunk until he found the relic he was looking for and eventually lifted out a small, clay jar. Apollo had promised him eons ago that the contents of this jar could heal any injury.
“You better be right,” he murmured to himself as he tucked the jar into a small bag he kept at the end of the bed. He was about to close the trunk when Hermes noticed something at the bottom. The sword had been sitting there for so long he had forgotten about it until this moment when he picked it up and let the dust fall from the blade. More resolved than ever he stood and shut the trunk, stowing the sword beneath his cloak and walking to his window. His staff rested against the sill and Hermes lifted it to his eyes.
“It’s time,” he whispered against it. “Meet me at the gate in fifteen minutes.” He thudded the staff against the ground once and four separate golden feathers flew through the sky. Not waiting to see where they ended up, Hermes turned and left the chamber.
As he made his way through the ruined castle, Hermes felt like a stranger in the only home he’d ever known. The path he traveled was familiar to him, but the walls surrounding it felt almost alien after all they’d been through. He descended the steps into the dungeon slowly, cursing under his breath when he saw Hephaestus on guard duty.
“Hermes?” the smith asked, his voice echoing off the stone walls. “What are you doing down here?” Hermes swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat before he spoke.
“You know why I’m here, Hephaestus,” he replied softly. The color drained from his companion’s face and he started shaking his head quickly.
“Look, man,” Hephaestus protested. “I like you, and I know you like the kid and all, but I can’t let you do this. You’re talking about treason.”
“I’m talking about much more than that,” Hermes cut in. “You’ve seen what’s happened to our home since she left. If it continues, I don’t know how much longer we’ll have a home left. This isn’t just about reuniting long-lost lovers, Heph. This is about saving Olympus.” The two gods stared at each other for some time without moving or speaking. Eventually, Hephaestus dropped his gaze to the floor, sighing heavily.
“You’re right,” he said softly. “But Zeus is our king. We can’t go against him.”
“We can if we win,” Hermes replied. “And I know how we can.”
“Enlighten me,” Hephaestus said, looking up from the ground. Hermes pulled back his cloak, producing the sword he’d found in his trunk.
“Take this,” he said, handing over the blade. “Perseus can wield it, but it needs something more to defeat a god.”
“I think I have an idea,” Hephaestus said with a smirk, taking the sword and turning it over in his hands. “Man, I missed this sword.”
“Reminisce later. Work now.” Hermes put his cloak back into place and held out his hand. “Keys?” Hephaestus nodded and took the keys from the hook on the wall and handed them over.
“What do I do if I get caught?” he asked, finally tearing his eyes from the sword.
“Hope Elysium is waiting for you,” Hermes replied, striding past him into the dungeon. He made his way to the end where he found the strongest of the cells. There, huddled in the corner, was a bruised and beaten Perseus.
“Oh, gods,” Hermes gasped, opening the cell as quickly as he could. When the iron of the bars creaked, Perseus flinched and began to drag himself away from the door.
“N-no,” he whimpered, desperately trying to get away. “Please, no.” Pain gripped Hermes at the sound of utter defeat in Perseus’ voice and he crouched down slowly and held his hand out.
“Perseus,” he said in the softest voice he could muster. “It’s ok. It’s me.” The broken boy raised his head and looked up at the god through swollen eyes.
“H-Hermes?” he asked, confusion and the slightest hint of relief coloring his voice. “Is it really you?” He struggled to sit up and Hermes quickly leaned in to help, propping him up against the wall.
“It’s really me,” he answered. “I’m here to get you out.” Perseus chuckled weakly and closed his eyes again.
“Hope you brought help,” he groaned. “In case you can’t tell I’m more than slightly incapacitated.”
“Lucky for both of us I did then.” Hermes took the bag from his shoulder and reached inside, pulling out Apollo’s jar. He took a generous scoop in his hand and rubbed it gently over the wounds on Perseus’ face. He watched as the ointment began to glow softly. It bathed Perseus’ face in a warm, golden light, and when it faded his wounds had vanished. Perseus brought his hands up to gingerly touch his face, his eyes widening in surprise when he found them all repaired.
“Woah,” he breathed as he looked up at Hermes. “Thank you.”
“Thank me once we’ve got you off Olympus,” Hermes muttered, working the ointment over the remaining wounds.
“Yeah, what’s the plan on that?”
“Don’t worry,” Hermes said with a small smirk. “It’s all taken care of. We’re getting you somewhere safe.”
Tumblr media
Y/N woke up late the next day, stretching out in her bed as the sun poured through her windows. For a moment, she thought maybe the confrontation with Zeus had been nothing but a bad dream, but a message chiming on her phone swiftly reminded her.
Dr. Strange: When you come back on Monday we’re reviewing the Rhodes case. Files will be on your desk. Enjoy your day off.
Chuckling softly, she put her phone back on the nightstand. Even on a personal day, the doc had work for her to attend to. The small smile on her face faded as the memory of her altercation with the king came flooding back. She’d called the doctor last night after leaving the café, letting him know she’d be taking a personal day today. He didn’t ask for details and she didn’t give them, just thanked him for understanding. Her sadness over the entire encounter quickly faded into anger, which burned into a renewed sense of hope. Hearing Perseus, as clear as if he’d been standing right beside her, reignited a fire inside her. She didn’t know how she knew, but she knew that he’d been hearing her all along. Every prayer she’d whispered had made its way to him and somehow, he’d managed to get one to her. With that knowledge inspiring a confidence she hadn’t felt since she’d fallen from Olympus, Y/N got out of bed and headed to the living room. Books towered on her coffee and end tables, and just as she was about to dive back into them, she heard a knock at her door.
“Oh, by the gods,” she groaned, standing back up. The person on the other side of the door kept incessantly knocking as Y/N made her way to the door, yanking it open roughly. She was prepared to tell whoever it was off but was caught by surprise when she saw Hermes looking back at her. He wore a crisp suit, similar to the ones he donned as his alter ego Tony Stark, and smiled softly at her. Neither of them spoke and Y/N allowed herself to fill with elation at the sight of her old friend. Her happiness was quickly replaced by anger when she deduced the most likely reason for his visit.
“Tell your king he can shove his offer up his ass,” she snapped, folding her arms in front of her chest.
“Well, hello to you too,” he chuckled. “Sorry to disappoint but my king doesn’t know I’m here.”
“Why do I find that hard to believe?” she asked coolly, glaring at him.
“Honestly, I don’t care what you believe,” Hermes said, leaning against the door frame. “I came here to bring you something. Call it a peace offering.” Y/N arched an eyebrow and looked him over.
“What kind of offering?” she asked skeptically.
“Turn around and find out.”
The voice. Was it in her head again? Every time she’d let herself feel hope over the last five years it had been snuffed out by crushing disappointment, and she knew if she let herself believe Perseus was really behind her and he wasn’t, she would crumble. She looked up at Hermes with tears already in her eyes, but the god said nothing. All he did was nod over her shoulder, smirking softly. Slowly, she turned around.
It felt like a dream. There, in the center of her living room, bathed in bright sunlight, stood Perseus. He wore a simple t-shirt and jeans, just like he always had when he was Peter and flashed Y/N a wide, toothy smile. Every cell in her body wanted to run to him, but shock kept her rooted to the spot. Perseus kept smiling at her as his eyes traveled up and down.
“Hey, dream girl,” he said softly, his voice thick. That was all it took. With a sob, Y/N launched herself across the room and into his arms. He grabbed her tight and wrapped his arms around her, holding her close and kissing her temple softly.
“I told you I’d never let anything keep me from finding you.” Y/N pulled back to cup his face with tears streaming down her own.
“I never doubted you for a second,” she said with a smile. Chuckling softly, Perseus leaned in and pressed his lips to hers. She kissed him back slowly and wound her arms around him. While their lips were connected, as far as they were concerned, they were the only two people in the world. Hermes shifted in his spot and after several minutes, cleared his throat.
“As touching as this reunion is,” he said sternly. “We do have some slightly pressing matters to attend to.” They finally broke apart and Y/N turned around, stunned at what, or rather who, she saw. Walking past Hermes and into her living room were Artemis, Apollo, Demeter, and Ares. Her mouth fell open as they came to her one-by-one and wrapped her in long-overdue embraces. More tears fell from her eyes and she took turns hugging them all, finally turning back to Perseus and taking his hand.
“I-I don’t understand,” she stammered, “How did you all get here?”
“Sadly, without any kind of fight,” Ares said, sitting on the back of the couch.
“Why is that sad?” Apollo asked, bewildered.
“I haven’t had a good battle in eons,” the goddess of war answered. “I’m getting all itchy.”
“I might be able to help you with that,” Y/N said abruptly. Everyone looked at her with varying expressions of concern on their faces.
“Drom, who are you planning on going to war with?” Perseus asked.
“Zeus,” she replied without hesitation. Hermes sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose as Artemis shook her head.
“That’s not the plan here, babes,” she said, rubbing Y/N’s arm gently. “You’re mortal now. You can’t fight this fight.”
“This was a rescue mission,” Demeter said. “Step one was getting Perseus out. Step two is getting you somewhere off of Zeus’ radar so we can go back and take him out.”
“They’re right,” Perseus said, squeezing her hand. “It’s too dangerous for you.”
“If any of you think for one second that you’re going to hide me away in some shoebox while you go fight the king of the gods you’ve gone completely insane,” she said, turning to her husband. “All of this happened because of me. Everything he’s done, everything he’s planning, it’s my fault. Do you really think there’s anywhere I’ll be safe from him? The only place I’m really safe is with you guys. And I want my shot at him.”
“She’s right,” Hermes said abruptly, earning a chuckle from Ares.
“Not something I thought I’d ever hear from you,” she smirked. Hermes shot her a look so severe it made even Ares falter before he turned back to Y/N.
“Ever since you told Zeus off in that temple in Greece, things on Olympus have been horrific,” he explained. “He’s gotten more volatile, more unpredictable, and more vicious with every passing day. Our home is in ruins all for his overinflated ego, and that ego means he won’t let you out of his reach for even a second. The last thing he’ll expect is for us to bring you to him. Are you prepared for this?” Y/N felt Perseus squeeze her hand again and she looked back at him and nodded softly, knowing in her gut what she had to do. Perseus stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her again, placing a soft kiss to her forehead. He held him tight and closed her eyes, willing herself to take in just this moment in his arms. Y/N knew that once they did this nothing would be the same, be it good or bad. Perseus seemed to sense it too and held her close until Apollo spoke.
“Not to ruin a beautifully half-baked plan,” he said, perching himself on the windowsill. “But how do we intend to pull this off? He’s…well he’s Zeus. It’s not like I can just put an arrow through his eye and call it a day.”
“I have something that can help,” came a voice from the doorway. Everyone looked up to see Hephaestus leaning against the doorframe. Perseus tensed immediately and pulled Y/N behind him. Artemis and Apollo pulled bows from out of nowhere and took aim while Ares produced a small blade from her belt and Demeter positioned herself between Hephaestus and Perseus.
“No, it’s ok,” Hermes said, holding up a hand. “He’s on our side. Heph helped me get you out.” Y/N looked over Perseus’ shoulder as Hephaestus stepped slowly inside.
“I know I failed you both,” he said, defeat thick in his voice. “There hasn’t been a day since Zeus cast you out that I haven’t regretted my part in it. I can’t take back what I did, but I can do my best to try and make it up to you now.” He took a leather bag off his back and opened it slowly, pulling out a large sword. Perseus gasped softly and stepped toward him.
“I-Is that…?”
“Your sword,” Hephaestus finished for him, handing over the weapon. “Harpe. Hermes found it and since you managed to kill Medusa with it, we figured it might be helpful.” Perseus turned the blade over in his hands as Y/N stepped up with her brow furrowed.
“There’s something different about it,” she remarked, looking the sword over.
“I lined the edges of the blade with bark from the oak tree at Zeus’ palace,” Hephaestus said, nodding. “I don’t know if the legends about it are true, but I thought it was worth a shot.”
“They’re true,” Demeter piped up, eyeing the sword. “I grew that tree for him myself. Its bark is the only thing in all the realms that can hurt him.” Y/N looked up at Perseus, his sword still in his hand, then around the room at the other gods.
“I can’t thank you all enough for what you’ve done,” she said softly. “You’ve given me my love back. Having Perseus and seeing all of you…I can’t put it into words. This next part is going to be big. Life-altering big. If any of you want to walk away, we won’t blame you.”
“Do you really think we went through all of this just to back out now?” Hermes scoffed, shaking his head.
“Yeah, we’re not going anywhere,” Apollo agreed.
“I’m sick of watching Zeus destroy my home,” Artemis said, tightening her grip on her bow.
“No one is safe until we stop him,” Demeter said.
“Like I said,” Ares chimed in, joining her friends. “Itchy.” The group turned slowly to Hephaestus who clutched his chest gently.
“After my heartfelt speech and act of treason you still doubt me?” he asked. “Consider me officially defected.” He stepped up next to Hermes who clapped him on the shoulder and nodded softly. Perseus rubbed Y/N’s arm gently and leaned into her.
“So, what’s the play?” he asked. Turning to her cluttered end table and digging through the stack of books, Y/N finally pulled out the one she was looking for and turned to her friends.
“I found this in a bookstore last year,” she said, holding the book up. “From what I can tell it maps out all the passages the Norse gods talked about. The closest one is in New Mexico.” Hermes looked up at her with a smirk on his face.
“Shall we?”

The immortals gathered at the base of Olympus several hours later, huddled close to avoid being seen. Once they were sure the coast was clear, Hermes nodded to Apollo. The sun god stepped out and aimed his golden bow, firing an arrow across the sky. Everyone watched as it flew in a high arch, slipping behind the clouds to catch the sun and drag it down beyond the horizon.
“What happened to the chariot?” Perseus asked softly.
“Too bulky,” he answered with a shrug. Andromeda chuckled and took Perseus’ hand as they made their way up the mountain as slowly as they could. They kept to the shadows, choosing to take the longer route up the mountainside rather than risk the main staircase. At the top, the path brought them close enough to it to see Athena, nose buried in a book at the top of the stairs. One-by-one, the crept past, careful not to attract attention. Demeter was the last to join them as they passed the gate and headed toward the palace.
The grounds were deathly silent as the immortals made their way through. Perseus and Andromeda walked hand-in-hand as they crept forward, constantly looking over their shoulders. Slowly, Hermes pulled the palace doors open and ushered them inside.
“What the hell happened here?” Andromeda breathed, taking in the crumbling structure.
“Zeus happened,” Ares replied, balling her fists.
“Where is he, Hermes?” Perseus asked, still gripping Andromeda’s hand.
“Most likely in his chambers at this hour,” Hermes said. He started down the hall with the rest of the group close behind.
“What about the throne room?” Andromeda asked as they passed it.
“Not likely,” Artemis replied. “He hasn’t made much use of it since your little display in Greece. Rumor is it’s completely destroyed.” Andromeda gulped slightly and nodded, opting to stay silent. They kept on their way, tension filling the air thickly. The only sound besides their soft footsteps was the occasional roll of thunder in the distance. After what felt like ages, a pair of golden doors shone up ahead of them. Andromeda shivered involuntarily as they stopped, looking back at Perseus as he pulled Harpe from beneath his cloak.
“Are you ready?” she asked him with a shaky voice. He nodded gently and raised his eyebrows.
“Are you?” he replied.
“Not really but we’re here now,” she resigned.
“I still think it should be me,” Ares protested for the tenth time.
“And I’m done debating with you,” Perseus snapped back. “Harpe is my sword and I’m the one who killed Medusa with it. I’ll do it.” The red-headed goddess nodded and pulled a pair of daggers from her belt. Artemis and Apollo readied their bows while Demeter produced a spear from beneath her skirts. Hephaestus, armed with a hatchet, stepped forward and handed Andromeda a small blade.
“It’s not much,” he said with a slight edge of fear in his voice. “But it’s sharp enough to make someone pay attention to you.” She nodded once and turned back to her husband.
“Stay back with Hermes, and only attack if you have to,” he instructed before turning back to the others. “On my count. One…two…three!” At his count, he pulled the doors open and the group charged inside, weapons raised. Andromeda gripped her knife tight as Hermes pulled her into the room and back against the wall. The rest of the group fanned out; weapons aimed at all corners of the room. Andromeda’s eyes scanned with them and dread filled her when she realized the only other person in the room was Hera, seated at the vanity in a navy blue dressing gown, pinning her hair into curls.
“Where’s Zeus?” Perseus demanded, raising his sword. Hera remained silent, only turning around once her last curl was in place. When she spoke, she addressed Andromeda directly.
“I’ve never understood what my husband saw in gutter trash like you,” she spat. “You really are as stupid as you look.” Perseus tensed and tightened his grip on the sword, moving toward her only to be cut off by a bolt of lightning striking in the middle of the room. It flashed brightly and once it faded, Zeus stood in its place. He was accompanied by his brothers, Hades and Poseidon, as well as Persephone, Hestia, Athena, and Aphrodite.
“Now, now, my love,” Zeus said almost sweetly. “There’s no need to be so rude to our guests.”
“Says you,” Hera shot back. “I’m the one who’s had to watch you lust after this child for centuries.” Another bolt of lightning struck, this time just outside the window as Zeus’s face hardened and he turned to his wife.
“Hold your tongue or I’ll rip it out,” he threatened, waiting for Hera’s meek nod before turning back to the intruders. “Relieve these traitors of their weapons and then escort them to the throne room to receive the king’s justice.” Hades, Persephone, and Athena moved forward at his command, collecting weapons from the reluctant rebels. Andromeda managed to find Poseidon’s eyes as Athena was taking her blade and tried her best to plead with her friend without words. He looked back at her and sighed softly before breaking her gaze. Once all their weapons had been collected, Zeus’ minions rounded up the intruders and led them toward the throne room. Perseus found Andromeda and she clung to his hand as they walked, tears filling her eyes. Desperate, she looked to her left and spotted Aphrodite.
“Dite, please,” she begged, too far past terrified to care. “Please, don’t let them do this.” Aphrodite kept her eyes down as Hades stepped in front of Andromeda and slapped her across the face. Perseus managed to keep her from falling to the ground and glared up at the god.
“Keep your mouth shut until someone tells you to talk, traitor,” Hades commanded with fire in his eyes. Before Perseus could charge him, Poseidon stepped between them.
“There’s no need for that, brother,” he said, holding out his arm. Hades shoved it away and looked him over.
“When I want your opinion, brother, I’ll give it to you,” Hades sneered. “If you’re not careful you’ll end up in the same spot as your friends here.”
“You forget your place, Hades,” Poseidon said, drawing himself up to his full height. “You may be king in the Underworld, but up here you’re just my brother.” Dark flames burned in Hades’ eyes and he was about to snap back when thunder crackled outside.
“Enough,” Zeus bellowed, opening the doors to the throne room. He strode inside, the others trailing behind him as he took his place on the large, marble throne. Andromeda looked around and took in the state of the room. Despite the appearance of the rest of the castle, and contrary to the rumors Artemis had heard, the throne room looked to be in pristine condition. Not a speck of dust or debris coated the floor and the throne looked like it was still being regularly polished. Zeus nodded to Hestia who smirked, flashing her red eyes to light the torches around the room. The pilfered weapons were dropped at Zeus’ feet and Perseus squeezed Andromeda’s hand as they faced the king.
“Never, in all my years on the throne, have I endured such disrespect from my subjects,” he said flatly, staring directly at Andromeda. “You sneak into my home in the dead of night with a plan to assassinate your king, and now that you stand before me you don’t even have the decency to kneel?”
“You’re no king of mine!” Andromeda yelled, glaring at him. “You don’t deserve your throne.” Gasps echoed off the walls at her outburst and louder thunder sounded outside the palace.
“And you,” he growled. “Defying my orders and returning to Olympus. This is an offense punishable by death, little one.”
“No!” Perseus screamed, lunging forward. Hades shoved him back roughly, sending him stumbling into Hermes.
“You’re the one who wanted me back in the first place!” Andromeda yelled back at him, reaching behind her for Perseus’ hand. She relaxed slightly when she felt it in hers and from the corner of her eye, she saw Poseidon turn to his brother in confusion.
“What is she talking about?” he asked.
“Nothing,” Zeus snapped at his brother, still glaring at Andromeda. “Shut your mouth.”
“You don’t command me anymore, Steve,” she hissed. “I’m not afraid of you. Yesterday, your king came to Earth and told me I could return to Olympus if I never spoke to Perseus again and I agreed to be his and his alone.”
“You went to Earth?” Hades asked, turning to look at his brother. “You didn’t tell me that.”
“Because I didn’t,” Zeus protested, growing angrier by the second.
“Yes, you did,” Aphrodite said meekly from behind him. Everyone in the hall turned to look at her. Zeus was the last to look, finally tearing his eyes from Andromeda. The thunder outside struck again, louder this time as the king glared at Aphrodite with rage in his eyes.
“Aphrodite stay out of this,” Persephone cautioned from behind Hades.
“No, Aphrodite, get involved,” Hephaestus said, taking a step toward his wife. “This has been eating at you for years. Now’s your chance to make it right.” She looked back at Hephaestus with wide eyes, watching as he nodded encouragingly. After a deep breath, Aphrodite spoke while walking forward.
“On the day Zeus banned travel to Earth, he told me to lie to Perseus and Andromeda,” she began, keeping her eyes on her husband. “He told me to tell them that they weren’t soulmates even though I bound their souls myself.”
“Why would he do that?” Athena asked, removing his glasses.
“Because he wanted me,” Andromeda answered before looking back at Aphrodite. “Tell them what else.”
“Yesterday, Zeus took me with him to Earth,” Aphrodite continued. “We found Andromeda and he told me to offer her a deal; if she agreed to be with Zeus, he’d let her come back and Perseus could live out his life on Earth as Peter.” Hades and Poseidon glanced at each other and then back at Aphrodite. As she finished and held out her hand for Hephaestus, a huge bolt of lightning burst through the ceiling, striking her in the chest. The force of the blast knocked her off her feet and across the room into the wall. Hephaestus screamed in agony and ran toward her as she slid to the floor. Andromeda was right behind him, tears already pouring down her face. Hephaestus picked his wife up gently and brushed her hair out of her face as he checked her over. After a moment, he looked up at Andromeda with red-rimmed and tear-filled eyes.
“S-She’s gone,” he whispered. Andromeda let out a broken sob and clapped her hands over her mouth. She looked down at the lifeless body of her friend as the gods behind her started to argue.
“How could you?!” Hestia screamed, causing the flames of the torches to burn brighter.
“You really are a monster,” Hera breathed, backing away from him.
“I did what needed to be done,” the king said coldly. “She was lying.”
“No, she wasn’t,” Perseus challenged. “I heard it all. Andromeda prayed to me when you were there, and I heard it all. Aphrodite was telling the truth.” Slowly, the remaining gods started to realize the truth, and one-by-one began to turn on their king.
“What’s wrong with you?” Poseidon demanded. “Aphrodite was one of us. How could you do this?”
“Watch your tone,” Zeus growled. Outside, peals of thunder boomed louder and more frequently.
“You lied to all of us,” Hades accused. “Forbid us all from visiting Earth while you took little day trips and for what? A bruised ego? Some girl who rejected you?” The others joined in shortly after and soon shouts echoed from every corner of the room. During the chaos, Andromeda saw Hera and Persephone slip a back door behind the throne. As the shouts and demands for answers reached a fever-pitch, Hermes raised his hands and addressed the gods.
“Fellow Olympians,” he called out. “For five long years, we’ve watched as Zeus has laid waste to our home. He’s let his hatred and jealousy run rampant and forced us to pay the price. The time had come to end his reign of terror. Together, we can take back Olympus and return her to her former glory.” The gods cheered and began to yell again when he finished, and Hestia and Athena came to join the rebels. Through all this, Zeus still barely moved. He sat, almost as still as the marble his throne was carved from, with his eyes on Andromeda. She stared right back at him, never so much as flinching as the thunder boomed so loud the walls shook. After a minute, Poseidon stepped forward to speak to his brother.
“Zeus, it’s over,” he said softly. “Come with me.” He reached out and placed his left hand on the king’s shoulder and that seemed to be the last straw. The instant his hand connected another enormous bolt of lightning cracked through the ceiling. Rather than suffering the same fate as Aphrodite, this bolt struck the sea god on the shoulder, severing his arm from his body.
“No!” Hades cried out, running toward his injured brother. Apollo ran forward as Poseidon toppled to the floor, already pulling healing elixirs from his bag. Chaos erupted in the hall again as Artemis and Ares rearmed themselves. Smaller bolts of lightning struck around the room as the gods turned on their king. Zeus paid them no mind, but rather kept his eyes on Andromeda. She waited, holding her breath until his eyes flitted over to his injured brother. When they did, she took her chance. Lunging forward, Andromeda grabbed Harpe and ran toward the throne, raising the blade to strike. She brought it down quickly but at the last second Zeus turned and caught her by the throat. Her eyes widened as his fingers squeezed tight and she felt the sword slip from her grip.
“Let her go!” Perseus screamed. He made a move for the sword, but Zeus was ready. Rage seemed to have cleared the king’s mind and was able to anticipate the young immortal’s move. Lightning struck all around the throne, driving Perseus and the gods back. They looked on in horror at the scene before them.
“Brother, enough!” Hades yelled. “This has all gone too far. You’ve let this girl influence every decision you’ve made for centuries. Let this end and face your justice.”
“If I hear one more word from any of you, I’ll kill you all,” Zeus seethed. The remaining immortals fell silent at his threat, watching as Andromeda struggled against the king’s grip on her throat. Zeus leaned in until his face was mere centimeters from hers, so close she could see the lightning striking around the throne reflected in his eyes.
“Despite your continued insolence, I’m willing to give you one last chance,” he whispered, his breath fanning over her face. “Be mine or suffer the consequences.” His features hardened as he looked over her like his prey and Andromeda felt herself shiver. He loosened his grip by a fraction, and she clenched her jaw hard. Knowing what she was about to do would seal her fate, she said a silent farewell to Perseus, looked up at the king, and spit in his face.
“Go fuck yourself.”
The lightning blast that struck the outside of the palace made the one that had killed Aphrodite sound like a firecracker. The ceiling that had been so well cared for splintered and cracked, sending chunks of it hurtling to the ground. Zeus retightened his grip on Andromeda’s throat and stood, stepping forward. Perseus attempted to make for his sword again, but another lightning strike knocked him back.
“I’ve had enough of you, child,” he said, low enough that only she could hear. “I’ve given you every opportunity to live a comfortable life here with me, and you’ve continued to refuse me. I thought your little vacation to Earth might have made you see reason, but I can see we’re beyond that. The time for deals is done. All that’s left now is judgment.”
“Let her go!” Perseus screamed again. “End this!”
“The only question is how to punish you,” Zeus continued, ignoring Perseus’ pleas. “I could just kill you, but that would be too easy. Hermes has proven he can’t follow commands and would conspire to travel between the realms and bring you back from the Underworld. After this, maybe even with my own brother’s help. And it’s obvious Perseus will never stop fighting for you.”
“Gods, you really do love the sound of your own voice, don’t you?” Andromeda rasped in his grip. Growling deep in his chest, Zeus spun her around to face her husband.
“And you still haven’t learned it’s not wise to goad me, have you?” he hissed in her ear. “The punishment I’ve devised for you is one worse than death. Say goodbye to your husband. Tell him how much you love him.” Andromeda bit back the sobs that threatened at her throat and locked eyes with Perseus. He already had tears pouring down his face and Demeter was holding him back from being struck by the lightning.
“Andromeda,” he sobbed, struggling in Demeter’s grasp.
“I love you, Perseus,” she said, feeling the tears start to fall from her own eyes. “My hero.”
“I love you too, my dream girl,” he said, still fighting to get to her. Zeus rolled his eyes and chuckled.
“Always with the nicknames,” he said. “How touching.” He kept a firm grip on the back of Andromeda’s neck with one hand and raised the other in front of her face. Andromeda took a deep breath and kept her eyes on Perseus, readying herself for what was to come. She could vaguely register the shouts of the other immortals, but she couldn’t make out what they were saying. All she could do was watch as Zeus raised his hand and snapped.
At first, she thought Zeus had granted her the mercy of a painless death. She felt nothing and waited, watching her husband and waiting to meet her end. Then, just as she was about to turn to Zeus, something happened. Demeter gasped and let go of Perseus, looking down in terror. He stumbled away from her and fell to his knees in front of Andromeda. She tried to free herself to get to him but Zeus’ grip on her didn’t falter. Perseus looked up at her with wide eyes and tried to speak, and it was only then that she realized what was happening. Andromeda watched, frozen in fear, as her husband started to fade into dust in front of her. He tried several times to call out to her but each time nothing but small puffs of dust passed his lips.
“PERSEUS!” she screamed, fighting to get to him. Zeus dug his fingers in tighter, refusing to let go until all that remained of Perseus was a small pile of ashes on the ground. Then, and only then, did he throw her down next to them. She reached out with a shaking hand, hoping somehow this wasn’t real, but knowing as soon as she touched the soft ashes that it was. Zeus wasn’t lying when he said her punishment was worse than death. Silent sobs ripped through her as her tears pooled on the floor beneath her. Behind Zeus, Hades and Apollo had managed to help Poseidon to his feet.
“Zeus…what have you done?” a bewildered Poseidon asked. Andromeda turned her head a fraction of an inch to get a better look at him. It seemed Apollo hadn’t been able to reattach his severed arm, but Poseidon had managed to reform a new one from water. It reflected the light of the lightning outside, almost metallic looking as he challenged his brother.
“I’ve taken care of my problem,” Zeus answered with a shrug. “Now, it’s as if he never existed. Nice and simple.”
“Simple?” Hades scoffed. “This is despicable, and that’s coming from me. You’ve crossed a line here.” Zeus ignored them both and walked over to Andromeda still weeping on the floor.
“I hope this serves as a reminder to never cross me again,” he whispered in her ear. “Then again, since you’ll be spending the rest of your days in a jail cell, I suppose it doesn’t much matter.” She looked up at the king through her tears and balled her fists.
“I won’t let you get away with this,” she swore. Zeus simply chuckled and grabbed her face, kissing her firmly. She struggled against him as he held her in place, only pushing her back to the ground when he was done.
“I already have,” he mocked, turning to walk away. Andromeda laid where she fell, next to her husband’s ashes, and watched him with defeat and grief filling her chest. She closed her eyes, ready to accept her fate when something brushed against her hand. She blinked her eyes open and looked down, her eyes widening in shock. A small stream of water was flowing past her, carrying Harpe into her hand. Almost on instinct, her hand wrapped around the hilt as she looked up to see Poseidon’s steel-blue eyes on her. Slowly and deliberately, he nodded once. She nodded in return and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly to calm her shaking nerves. Gathering her strength, Andromeda pushed herself to her feet and charged at the king with the sword raised, screaming incoherently. She swung the sword at him as he spun on the spot, catching her wrist in both of his hands. The tip of the sword managed to just break the skin above his heart, causing a single drop of blood to fall. He looked into Andromeda’s eyes with genuine shock on his face for the first time in eons. She pushed against his hands in a desperate attempt to drive the sword further in, surprising everyone in the room with the strength she displayed.
“Insolent girl,” Zeus panted, fighting against her. “I am Almighty Zeus, King of the gods. Who are you to defy me?” Sweat dotted both of their brows as they fought for dominance. Andromeda could feel her grip slipping and her strength waning with every passing second, and just as she felt she couldn’t hold on any longer, her eyes fell on Perseus’ ashes. Gritting her teeth, she looked up at Zeus with fire in her eyes.
“I’m a hero,” she answered. Planting her feet firmly and mustering every ounce of strength she had, Andromeda let out a roar and pushed against the sword. Zeus’ grip slipped slightly, and the sword plunged into his chest all the way up to the hilt. His eyes widened in shock as his hands fell and he looked down at the sword that had run him through. Andromeda stared at it with him for a moment before pulling it out, sending Zeus staggering back into his throne with his hands clamped over his wound. Lightning started to crackle in his eyes as he looked over to his brothers. They stared silently back at him, offering no help as he started to gasp for air. Everyone fell back as the lightning spread from his eyes over his head and down his torso. With one final look to Andromeda and a blood-curdling scream, Zeus exploded in a giant blast of lightning.
The peal of thunder that followed Zeus’ death seemed to last forever. When it finally ended it took the clouds that had gathered with it, and for the first time in five years, the Olympians could see the stars. Andromeda fell to her knees and began to cry again, letting the sword fall from her hand. Her friends watched her in stunned silence. They looked back and forth at one another, none of them sure what to do or say, or even if anything could console her. They could only stand there, still as the statues that filled their temples, watching as she broke in front of them. Finally, and quite surprisingly to everyone, Hephaestus dragged himself to his feet. He staggered over to Andromeda and flopped down next to her, taking her hand gently in his. Neither of them spoke. They just sat silently, hand in hand. His sorrow mimicked her own, bleeding from his soul into hers, connecting them in the worst way imaginable. After a time, Andromeda looked up at the gods until she found who she was looking for.
“Can you bring him back?” she asked Hades desperately.
“I’m sorry,” he said, shaking his head. “Zeus didn’t just kill him, he obliterated him. His soul…his essence doesn’t exist anymore. There’s nothing to bring back.” For the first time since they’d met, Andromeda saw actual remorse in his eyes. His apology now was for so much more than his inability to bring her husband back. She nodded slowly and sniffled, wiping her nose on the back of her free hand. Poseidon sighed softly and walked forward, crouching down in front of her.
“Rommie,” he said gently. “We can’t stay here.” Her eyes met his as a fresh wave of tears spilled out and she grabbed at his flesh arm.
“I don’t have anywhere to go,” she whispered.
“Let’s start by getting off the floor,” he suggested, moving to help her up. Andromeda stared at the ground as Poseidon and Hephaestus helped her up, her eyes once again falling on Perseus’ remains. And that’s when it hit her. The clarity of what she had to do now dawned on her as if Apollo himself had raised it.
“Hermes,” she called out. “Can you send me back to Earth?” Poseidon froze in front of her as she turned to face a stunned Hermes.
“Y-you want to go back?” he asked.
“Maybe take a little time to think things over,” Athena suggested, his voice thick. Andromeda finally took a look around and saw how disheveled the gods were. Every one of them had tear streaks down their faces, even Ares. Hestia was still on the ground over Aphrodite. Seeing them like this only cemented for Andromeda that she didn’t belong.
“I don’t need time,” she said, looking around the room. “I was never supposed to be here. Perseus and I…we wanted to go home. That’s what started this whole thing. And now he’s gone. Zeus took my immortality. I don’t belong here anymore. It’s past time for me to live out my life.” By the time she finished speaking, most of the remaining gods were in tears again. Poseidon turned her gently to face him, a single tear falling from his eye.
“Rommie, I need you to understand something,” he said. “If we send you back, that’s it. With Zeus gone, it’s going to be chaos up here. For centuries. Hera will want your head. Olympus will be locked down for the rest of your mortal life. This is a one-way ticket.” More tears fell from his eyes as he spoke, and Andromeda reached up and brushed them away.
“I understand,” she whispered, nodding gently. “Please, Poseidon.” The sea god leaned into her touch and closed his eyes, sighing softly. He cupped her face in his hands and leaned forward to press a soft kiss to her forehead.
“The favor of the gods,” he mumbled against her skin. “It will take you to Elysium when you die.” He pulled back and looked down at her with a watery smile.
“Thank you,” she said, smiling softly back at him.
“Live well, Andromeda,” Poseidon said, letting her go slowly. She held onto his hand until the distance was too great, and eventually turned to face Hermes.
“I’m ready,” she said before looking over her friends one last time. “I love you all. Thank you.” Hermes placed a hand on her shoulder and just as they were about to leave, Poseidon cried out.
“Wait!”
Every head in the room turned to him as he held his hand out. He swallowed thickly and took a shaky breath before he spoke again.
“I can’t bring Perseus back,” he said, his voice cracking slightly. “But I can give you something else you’ve lost.” Andromeda and the others watched in confusion as Poseidon kneeled to scoop up Perseus’ ashes. He walked them carefully over to a window that had been blown open during Zeus’ rage, and with another deep breath he blew them out among the stars. Andromeda felt her heart thud in her chest as the stars started to glow brighter in the sky. The constellations shifted in their places until two she recognized came into view. She let out a choked sob as Poseidon reunited her and Perseus in the heavens.
“I know it’s not the same as having him back,” he said, turning to her. “But hopefully this is a small comfort.” Andromeda tried to speak but nothing came out, so she settled for a small nod as Perseus rejoined his remaining brother. With a final look at the place she once called home, Hermes put a hand on her shoulder and whisked her away.

TEN YEARS LATER
Y/N sat at her favorite table in her favorite cafe, sipping her tea and reflecting on the time that had passed since she’d returned from Olympus. When she’d visited Earth with Perseus, a decade seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. Now, on her own, the last ten years had felt like a lifetime. She hadn’t been on Olympus long enough to arouse suspicion, so both her apartment and her job were waiting for her once Hermes had left. Dr. Strange took a liking to her and helped pay her way through nursing school. She worked beside him as a right hand, and though the job was often demanding, he treated her well and she enjoyed the work. Her life was quiet, and she liked it that way.
Nights were the hardest. When they were in season, she would spend hours staring out her window and her and Perseus’ constellations. She still prayed, only now she included all her old friends as well as Perseus. She told them about her life and how much she missed them, and every so often she’d find a little sign that they missed her too. A large snowy owl had taken up residence outside her window, reminding her Hades still had a sense of humor. Demeter made sure all the plants in her home thrived, but her favorite was the dagger Poseidon had sent her. She found it in her bathtub of all places, a small trident carved into the oak handle. She carried it with her everywhere, always tucked safely at her waist as it was now. She felt it there as she read an article on her phone. The Daily Bugle had been writing non-stop about the recent crime wave in the city, and today was no different.
NYC NEEDS SAVING: WHEN WILL A NEW HERO ARRIVE?
Y/N scoffed slightly and scrolled past just as the front door burst open.
“Everyone get down! This is a robbery!”
Two gunshots rang out as customers dove to the floor as ordered. Y/N slid from her chair and onto the floor under her table, chancing a quick look up at the robber. He was young, maybe in his twenties, and his hands shook as he looked over the crowd.
“Nobody try any hero shit or you’re all dead!” he ordered, pointing his gun around the room. Y/N rolled her eyes slightly and sat back, adjusting when she felt her dagger digging into her hip. Suddenly, right next to her ear, a voice she had almost started to forget whispered to her.
My hero.
She whipped her head around, looking for the owner of the voice but knowing he wouldn’t be there. Her hands shook slightly as she looked down at her phone.
WHEN WILL A NEW HERO ARRIVE?
Slowly, she drew the dagger from her hip and looked down. On the hilt, opposite the trident and burned into the wood, were tiny recreations of the constellations she stared at every night. Thunder clapped outside as Y/N looked back up, gripping the oak tight in her hand. She eyed the robber with a small smirk on her face as she crawled out from under the table and readied herself for a fight.

Word Count: 467
Author: Charlotte
Having cuddled up with your pet flerken, you had struggled to stay awake, leaving the two of you snuggled up on the sofa and dozing off. With Carol away working somewhere on the other side of the universe, you enjoyed the company of Goose, making the most of the time the two of you got alone. With Carol’s work you rarely knew when she was actually going to come home, her schedule often changing frequently, leaving you pleasantly surprised whenever she did finally return to you.
Today she woke you up. You jumped awake, having fallen asleep with only a flerken in the house, but as soon as you saw Carol’s smile, you realised that it wasn’t someone having broken into your home.
“You’re home,” you lazily smiled, propping yourself up on your elbows, the flerken on your lap stretching out, having also just woken up.
“I finished up early and came home, I should be back for at least the next week,” she stated. “I do have a question though.”
“What?”
Carol looked down at her flerken before looking back up at you. “Why is Goose dressed as a lion?”
Your eyes became wide. You had hoped that Carol wouldn’t have seen the costume that Goose was wearing, normally having it removed before she was even on the same planet as you, but seen as you fell asleep, you hadn’t had a chance to hide it. The orange cat-like creature was contently sat on your lap, a fluffy mane around his face.
“He looks cute,” you smiled innocently. “And I think he likes it.”
“I’m surprised you still have your hands after putting that on him. I can’t believe he let you do that and that he fell asleep in it.”
You moved Goose to the sofa beside you as you made your way around to the side of the sofa.
“I have a little secret to do with what Goose and I get up to when you’re not home.”
You pulled out the box that you had slotted behind the sofa and hidden from your girlfriend since you had been living together. Moving the box onto the arm of the sofa, you opened it, revealing numerous cat-sized costumes and a small stack of photographs. You handed her the pictures.
“I dress him up whenever you’re gone. I didn’t think he’d let me at first, but I think he likes it, or at least he tolerates it,” you shrugged.
Carol flicked through the pictures, looking at Goose dressed up in a variety of different costumes.
“I don’t know whether to be mad that you hid this from me or to be happy at how adorable he is,” she sighed. “But for now you should be relieved that Goose likes you enough to dress him like that.”

Previous chapter
You just woke up, but you can already feel the tension in your shoulders. It was a hard week for you, work, school even Wanda and Nat made days difficult for you. Everybody expects something from you, deadlines are not being kind, and everything is piling up in the exhausting hill of responsibilities. You feel yourself sinking recently and if it wasn't for your whole future at the line, you would probably stay in bed for the next two weeks. Recently even thoughts about your future were too heavy, usually working as a motivator, now they are making you feel like you're at a gunpoint.
You didn't have to wake up with the sun today, after working till three am at the bar you needed that rest and thankfully everybody made sure not to bother you. You get up from the bed and immediately make it, so you can start your day not feeling guilty about having a mess around you or not being productive. It doesn't happen often but you actually plan on resting today. You put some music on and after meditating and giving offerings you hear a light knock at your door.
“Hey.” Darcy stands in a doorway, two coffees in her hands. She always looks out for you, even in those small ways, and to be honest you do feel special. She would never do coffee for Maria or Kate.
“Hey, you okay?”
“Yeah, everythings okay.” She sits down on your bed, and sets the coffee on the side table. You decide that freaking out about the stains right now is not a good idea. You will deal with it later. To your surprise Darcy is ahead of you and she gets up and grabs coasters and your meds, she hands them to you with your coffee.
“Thanks.” She nods and sits down at the previous spot.
“Do you want to talk about your date?” You don't, you know she cares and that's where it's coming from, there is still anger lingering at the back of your head, that she set you up like this.
“I- '' She looks puzzled, like she can't place exactly how to put into words feelings she has, but you understand.
“I know.”
“I was worried that you wouldn't agree to go. I should’ve handled it better, done it differently. To be completely honest, after we dropped you off I had been scolded by Carol already.” She laughs and you can't help but join her. You take a sip of your coffee, happily making yourself believe that it will wake your brain up more, and let her continue.
“It wasn't nice. I'm sorry, I don’t want to act that way towards you.”
“Thank you, I appreciate you being honest. I was mad, yes, even now I still am a little bit, but it’s going to pass. I'm just happy to be done with this.”
“They called Carol after that night, and they didn't sound happy. She didn't tell me anything, at least not that much, but… Yn, what happened?” you don't want to get into it, but Darcy is your friend, she is on your side, and you want her to feel included.
“Shuri called me in the middle of our dinner. I had to pick up Junior, it was an emergency. There was no taxi, no uber, nothing and this restaurant was so far away.”
“Yeah, again sorry about it.” Darcy scratches the back of her head, trying to ease down the nerves.
“They gave me a ride, and then we went to the theme park with Junior.”
“It doesn't sound so bad.” She is confused, but at the same time she knows that nothing with you is just simply… simple.
“It wouldn't be if I had any say in that. Darcy I had so much work I did not sleep the night after that. I agreed on extra work, i didnt had any food other that a fucking corn dog with junior that day, and nobody asked me about my opinion.” You start pacing around the room, you always talk with your arms and the more agitated you are the more they are working.
“Did you tell them that?”
“Yes I did. After the little family trip of course, I'm not a monster. I couldn't do that to Junior.” She nods in understanding. You both spend 20 more minutes chatting about everything that happens, while you clean your room. You will always happily use a body double to make yourself more productive, and it's so much easier with someone actually next to you. After a nice morning together and more cleaning around the apartment, Darcy told you that Kate asked you to call her and that it was rather important so you called right away.
“Hey sweetie, you wanted me to call?... Yes ... mhm … no problem i got this, don't even worry about it, I’ll text you after everything … I’m always careful … Yes, I love you too.” You finished your phone call, and as you were sitting in the kitchen Maria could hear everything. She just finished cleaning the dishes after herself, knowing how much you hate, when one of them leaves something in the sink, after you cleaned the whole kitchen. They are really helpful with your hyperfixations.
“What the bitch wanted?” You roll your eyes at the name that she used for Kate.
“Be nice. She asked me if I could pick her things up from Val, she left some clothes in her godless danger zone cave.” You answer by not taking your eyes off your phone, already looking for the bus and metro schedule.
“Oh, that should be fun.” Maria goes around the kitchen island and leans her back on it, right next to where you sit. You found that about her pretty early, how flirty and cocky she is, once she feels comfortable with someone. It takes a while, but once she gets to know you, you would never say that she was shy at first. She is touchy, her love language always makes her try to be close to all of you. Some people find it confusing, but you learn at some point. Her smugness it's a part of your daily life and you enjoy the entertainment.
“Yeah.. you are not going.” You get off the stool and start walking into your room to grab your bag. Your backpack is something you can’t leave the house without, you have a lot of useful things in it, which some of your friends find weird. There was always this sense of journey in you, or maybe running away actually, but this feeling made you always prepare to leave. Your backpack is always ready to help you survive if there is a need for you to.. well you aren’t sure what, but whatever that feeling means, you want to be ready. You have first aid there, a knife, dry pack meals which are not the worst and saved you a couple of times, along with unused metro and bus tickets, just in case and some rope. Sounds like a serial killer pack but all of the things were useful more times than you thought they would.
You put your shoes on, take your hat and dark jacket off the hook, and as you leave the apartment Maria comes running out of her room.
“Maria you’re not going.”
“Shut up, we have a bus in 10 minutes, come on.” She put her vintage 90s style jacket on and went out leaving you to close the door. She also learned a lot about you, and how discussing anything with you and trying to convince you of something is usually a waste of time. You respect that and her, the way she talks to you makes you feel safe with her, you know what to expect, there are no games, no double meaning under any words, no malice or anger behind anything. She lays things on the table and you feel safe with honesty. You don't fight her, you close the heavy door, almost tripping over the shoes again on your way out and follow Maria to the bus stop.
Drive took both of you not more then 20 minutes, Valkyrie lives in one of her friends houses from what you know. There have been a couple of times when you were picking Kate up from there but you never went in, for Val it was an issue itself that you are even in the neighborhood. From what you noticed from the outside there is a flag in the window, which is a red flag itself, cigarette buds pretending to be flowers in the garden and broken mailbox in front. Overall a very welcoming environment. You come up to her door and knock hard on the surface, trying to make sure she will hear you over the loud techno music. You feel nauseous, and you know that will not be an easy pick up, but you would do everything for Kate, even put yourself in dangerous situations so she doesn't have to. You hear screaming coming from the inside, someone yelling over music to open the door. Maria is right behind you, she grabs the right part of your open jacket, which is exactly why you didn't want to bring her with you. In situations like that it's hard enough for you to make sure you are going to be okay, and as sad as it is, anyone coming with you as a support is just an additional responsibility to you. Doors open with unnecessary force. In front of you there is Valkyrie, drunk out of her mind, in the middle of the week, before noon. To be honest if someone would ask you to describe her that's exactly what you would say.
“The fuck you want?” Off to a great start.
“Don't make it harder for yourself, give me Kate’s things back and we will be out of here.” She scoffs at you and spits on the ground. That's a comedy behavior and if you wouldn't fear things escalating because of Maria, you would already have a good laugh. Val comes out of the doorway and invades your personal space, trying to dominate you as she is always tired when you meet with her. It was an interesting battle and you were enjoying playing this game with her, till one day when you overheard how much unnecessary shit Kate had to hear from Val after that. She was always jealous of how close you were to Kate, and since that day you tried to be … less with Kate, when her girlfriend was around. You can smell the horrible alcoholic odor coming from Val, since Kate broke up with her it seems like she fell even lower, you didn't think it was possible. You stand your ground not letting any fear get to you, but Maria takes two steps back, not really enjoying the fact that she had to let go of you.
“Tell this slut-'' keep your cool yn, don't kill her, you promised Kate to be as civil as you can “-that if she wants anything back, she needs to come for it herself. I will make sure that she will have a really nice time with me, time she will remember for a long time.Whore likes it rough, but you should know something about it right Yn?” Valkyrie pushes you to the ground taking you off guard and  she closes the door behind her, laughing. You get up and straighten your clothes, you can feel your facade breaking, almost as you can hear the sounds of cracks in your patience. You can feel your heart beating in every single vain, your teeth are clenched together, tha same as your fists. You never felt so angry in your life, at least you don't think you did. You never felt so angry at someone and yourself, that you let this relationship go for so long, you recall all those moments when you thought that Kate was silently screaming for help, and you weren't listening. At least this, now, in this moment, you can and will make it right. Maria comes up to you and touches your shoulder bringing you back out of your head.
“Yn-” she grabs your clenched hand “-your knuckles are white.” That's just a second of making a decision, at this moment you knew what it's going to take to make this end, to set Kate free, and you were ready for it the moment you left your apartment.
“They’re about to get red.” The force of opening and shutting doors behind you makes Maria jump. She stands outside wondering if she should follow after you, she hears the music abruptly stop and then shouting. She takes two steps towards the door and as she is about to put her hand on the cold handle she hears the sounds of fighting, something breaks, sounds of glass shattering hurt her ears. Her eyes get teary and she doesn't know what to do. She won't be able to physically help you, and she knows for sure Val wasn't alone in the house. She stands in the yard and takes out her phone, trying to pick up Pepper's number with shaking hands. She immediately picks her eyes up at the door at the squeaky sound of opening. You come out and really slowly close the door behind you, one hand on the handle and second one holding a bag. Contrast between you entering and exiting the house is making Maria question if the first one even happened. The first thing your friend notices is that your knuckles are actually red, but so is your face and your shirt. She comes to you really fast trying to take a better look at your face.
“Jesus Christ Yn! Are you okay?” She lifts her hand and you grab her wrist stopping her. You lift your head up, letting her take a good look at you.
“Let’s go, we are walking home.” She doesn't question you, she just grabs the bag from your hand. Maria doesn't comment on your busted upper lip, or greenish bruise appearing under your left eye, or the cut on your right eyebrow that drowns your vision with blood, or even the way you hold your ribcage. She listens to you, but at the same time being so worried about the state you are in she texts Pepper what happened, hoping that she will know what to do and how to help you. You are irritated with your clothes getting dirty and splitting one of your knuckles open. You don't feel pain, you feel satisfaction that you finally got something done, that you finally stood up for someone you love, adrenaline still kicking in keeping you painless, it's a good feeling, probably too good, but that's something you will worry about later.
On your way home Maria got information from Pepper to just bring you back and everything will be taken care of. You two are one street away from your apartment complex and both of you recognise Peppers car standing on the street. Not really feeling like talking, you tell Maria that you will just head upstairs and take a bath, maybe try to get rid of this already dried out blood from your face.
“Yn, you look like hell.” You are highly aware of that and Pepper’s comment is really unnecessary.
“Kate finished her job earlier today. I picked her up. I was planning on picking up Maria too and taking those beautiful girls somewhere out to eat.”
“Cool, have a nice time.” You can’t tell if that was addressed to you or Maria, or if Pepper was asking your permission, but your face hurts and you just want to go upstairs.
“I'm sorry I can’t leave Yn alone.”
“Yes you can. Go have fun.” You send Maria a smile forgetting how painful it is for you right now to use any face muscles.
“But-”
“Precious, Yn is right, also I don't think that she wants Kate to see her this way, am I right?”
“Very, I’ll be okay, have fun.” You give your friend a short hug and leave with Kate's bag. Pepper’s comment is right, you wouldn’t want any of your friends to see you this way, that's why you didn't want Maria to go with you in the first place, but you can't help feeling slightly hurt by that. Maybe it’s better for you to be left alone right now, coming up the stairs you worry about Darcy's reaction, she will for sure yell at you for being reckless.
You enter the apartment and set Kate’s bag in the washroom to immediately wash everything that it contains. You walk around the apartment only to find out that you are alone.
“Well, for the better i guess.” Talking to yourself is a normal thing, saying out loud a plan for the day, concerns or just letting your thoughts flow outside, airing out your head is something you enjoy with your loneliness. You are happy to be alone, nobody will see you being hurt, nobody will worry, take care of you or freak out at Val. You don't need that, just you and your solitude is enough.
You go to the bathroom and start undressing, a big mirror on the side wall allows you to see all of your injuries. Bruise is purple by now, and your face is covered in red, you are not surprised that Pepper had this disgusted look on her face. You slowly take your shirt off along with your bra, and just then you can see how dark is your right rib cage. Valkyrie took advantage of this one movement when you stumbled on something and fell in her house. She managed to deliver one kick onto your chest,at least you turned to the side in time and swept her off her feet. You would be happy to say that she looks worse than you, but you can’t, you promised Kate, so you protected yourself just as necessary. It doesn't matter how much you want to see her in pain, suffering for everything she has done. Val didn't have an easy life, but that doesnt give her a right to ruin others.
You decided on taking a warm shower and then getting some numbing ointment along with some food into your system. You are not sure if you had breakfast today, and your stomach is starting to hurt. You leave the foggy bathroom, covered in your towel and go straight into the kitchen. You start looking through the cabinets for a first aid box you have in the apartment, unaware of someone sitting in the living room.
“Need help Yn?” You jump at the sound of Natashas voice and a box with medicine falls to the ground spilling everything out. You hang your head low, without even turning around to make sure your towel stays secured around your chest and take two deep breaths. You hear Nat and Wanda get up and move closer to you. You turn around and to their surprise you are in much worse condition than they imagined when Pepper called them. Your face swells a little bit around your one eye, blood luckily only slowly going out of your lips and brow, but you have to still make sure to wipe it once in a while. Wanda covers her mouth with a shocked expression on her face, while Natasha looks just.. angry, but you can't tell if thats because of how you look or if that's just her face, to be fair she is always kind of angry. You don't have energy to play their game, to discuss, talk, talking hurts, you want them gone.
“Pepper called us.” Ah that explains it.
“Great, she is not here. I'll Let you know when she will come back.” You don't even try to pick up the box, you leave the kitchen and go to your room, aware of your half naked situation. You need to put some sweats on, and take care of yourself. It takes you just a couple of minutes and you are hoping that they are gone by now. You are going back into the kitchen and to your surprise they are sitting by the island, drinking tea and right next to them there is a third mug, yours green one.
“Yn, how are you feeling?” Wanda is concerned but you don't own her nothing, so you stay silent.
“Look-” she gets up from her seat to approach you by the fridge, you need to eat something.
“-I know you are not really fond of us-” You scoff at that under your nose, and you regret it immediately, when sharp pain goes straight into your head. Adrenaline is gone and you can feel everything now. You grab the side of your head trying to keep it at bay. “-but we want to help… let us help.” You think about it, you are tired but in too much pain to go to sleep. They picked the medicine up but you still have to look through it to find the right kind and ointment. Even thinking hurts now.
“Yn, can you please sit down?” Natasha’s voice is soft, you never hear her speak in this way, maybe once, just once when at Carol's party you caught one moment when Natasha and Wanda were alone. The way they were with each other, spoke to each other, praised each other, this is the voice Natasha used. You are not really sure what's the reason, maybe you are too tired for that right now, but you listen. You drag yourself into the living room and sit down slowly on the couch. Natasha is immediately next to you with a cup of tea and Wanda on the other side holding painkillers, a sandwich and numbing ointment, almost like they read your mind.
“Darcy told us what you might need, she called and also asked us to apologize that she is not here. Carol took her on a business trip and she will be back in two days.” You nod at the information, warming up because of the tea or maybe the fact that wherever Darcy is she has your back.
You take your painkillers, eat a surprisingly good sandwich and the last thing you need to do is use the ointment.
“Thank you for your help.” You make a move to take it from Wanda's hand but she moves it out of your reach.
“Let me.”
“No.”
“Why?”
“Just no. Leave it okay?” You try to grab it again and in that moment Natasha puts her hand on the side of your body, just to try and get your attention, talk you out of being so stubborn, but she doesn't know about your ribcage. The moment her palm lands on your shirt, the sharp pain follows through your whole body, you scream a little not being able to contain your reaction in time. They both look scared while you bend down in half, trying to breathe normally and stop crying. You can’t hold it in, you try by biting your lip, which reminds you that it's still bleeding and the bite really didn't help. You get up, out of their reach, you stand in front of them, looking and feeling like a mess.
“Please just… leave. I'm going to be okay, I’ll handle it, just give me that and leave.” You clench your jaw like your life depends on it. Your tears are mixing with the blood coming out of your lip. Wanda makes sure to stand up slowly, treating you like you are about to break down, crumble into pieces and nothing makes you more pissed than this pity look in her eyes. She wants to say something, not really sure what, but her wife is faster.
“Lift up your shirt.
“Pervert.”
“Yn.. this-” she points at you and moves her hand around “- all of this,as much as it's cute and admirable, it's pissing me off. You really think this is just about you?” You want to argue back, make your statement, not back down, you are just not sure if you have enough energy for that.
“No Yn, it's not. What do you think Kate will feel, after seeing her friend suffer because of her. And yes I know she didn't do it, but you fought for her, you really think she wont feel responsible for that?” You stay silent, feeling like a kid being scolded, you feel your chin getting wet with blood and tears. Your ribcage still hurts and makes it hard for you to breathe. You are ready for Natasha to start screaming at you, but she just let her wife take over.
“I'm going to lift your shirt up okay?” You don't fight them, you let her. She slowly lifts up your right side of the shirt revealing dark purple and pink bruises, covering at least three or four of your ribs.
“Oh..yn.” You look at Wanda and you see one tear falling down her cheek. You cover yourself up fast and take two steps back to put some distance between you two.
“Satisfied?” Natasha looks sad, and disappointed. You can't read them and that's the most frustrating thing for you.
“We have a personal doctor, she works for us and has a monthly payment, doesn't matter if she works or not. I called her and she will be here in thirty minutes. Will you please let her take a look at your ribs and face? I promise it won’t cost us anything”  She is actually waiting for your answer, you look between them. Wanda with the ointment in her hands holding it so tightly, Natasha with a phone in her hand and this terribly worried look on her face. Another sharp pain goes straight into your head, you bend down to try and not react too much to it, but they can see.
“Yes…I…yes, please.” Natasha nods at you and you leave the room, uncomfortable with the situation, you decide to wait for the doctor in your bedroom.
It takes 40 minutes for the doctor to get to the apartment. At this point you took two more painkillers you had in your room, and you tried to just lie down in a way that hurts the least. You didn't check on Nat or Wanda, they can take care of themselves and as much as you would like to care even a little, the state you are in is hard to do so. Kate and Maria called you to check up on you. Of course Maria told everybody everything. You managed to pull some strength out of yourself to sound well, like you are doing okay ish at least. Seems like they bought it, you don't need them to worry more then they do already. Wanda came to your room to ask if the doctor could come in, you thought she would try to stay with the both of you but fortunately she left and gave you some space. Doctor said that it would be good to do xr-ay of your ribs but they don't seem broken, just really bruised. She stitched your eyebrow and said that your lip will heal on itself, you are relieved that you don't have to go to the hospital, that would probably ruin you financially.
After the meeting with the doctor you walk her out of the apartment making sure she wouldn't start talking about your state with Wanda and Natasha. Apologizing for the mess at the entrance you thank her and close the door behind her, wishing her a nice rest of her day. You are facing two issues now. First you need to get rid of both women from your apartment and get ready for your shift at the bar. You are not really sure how you will manage, but you have to somehow. You feel presence behind you and you are not ready for questioning, you are not ready for anything right now.
“What did she say?” Natasha is holding Wanda's hand tightly, trying to calm her down a bit.
“I'm healthy as a horse.” She just rolls your eyes and that somehow makes you feel bad.
“I'm sorry, first I really appreciate your help with all that, it means a lot. She said that I should be okay with my ribs, she stitched my eyebrow and lips should heal on their own.” Wanda reaches out with her hand. Very lightly she touches the area around your eyebrow, soft palm is feeling cold on your heated face. You don't know why but you let her get a closer look at your face, Natasha grabs your chin and picks it up slowly to take a better look at your lip. As she lets go her thumb touches the corner of your lips, and you feel her touch linger there even after her hands return to her side. It's hard to explain what's happening with you, pain mixing with the feeling of comfort, hurt mixing with soft touches, that's too much for today, or for the whole month, it's hard to tell, but you start crying out of nowhere. Silent tears escaping through closed eyelids, too afraid of what your eyes might be saying right now. You feel Wanda's hand touch the side of your head, lightly playing with your hair. Normally you would find it awkward. Silently standing at the entrance of the house, nobody is speaking, your eyes are closed and your fist clenched. You feel yourself lean your head in the direction of Wanda’s hand. The sound of your phone ringing brakes whatever was just happening between all of you and you open your eyes, looking scared and embarrassed.
“I need to pick it up. I'm sorry.” They follow after you into the living room. You look at your phone and the caller id makes your body shiver.
“What?” You start pacing around, you feel the eyes of both women follow your moves and you are making sure to stay extra careful with how you speak.
“No…Yes, at the end of the week.” You look at them sitting at the kitchen island, not even pretending that they are not listening.
“That's too much… I need to pay for school this month…No…Well, fuck you back… Listen, you take this or nothing at all, goodbye.” You hang up your phone and grab the side of your head, feeling the pain creeping up your lower back, coming from the tips of your fingers that hold the phone, through your spine into the top of your head. It's sharp but a little less after numbing yourself with pills. Your phone rings again and you are not having it today.
“WHAT?!” You regret not looking at your phone this time. “Shit, Steve, I'm sorry. Yeah my shift starts at six.” That makes Natasha stand up
from her chair. She is looking at you as you just said the dumbest thing she ever heard. “Yeah I understand but you know, Darcy can be dramatic. It’s not that bad… No! Listen, I need the money, okay? Don't ask Bucky, I'll be there.” He starts arguing, telling you how dangerous it can be for you, telling you that you might have concussion, or just some head trauma, that he can lend you the money for the day, he is really trying to keep you off of work. As you are about to talk back to him, Natasha takes your phone from your hand and tells Steve that you will call him back in a second. The audacity.
“You are an adult Yn, right? Then let's talk like adults.” That will be an interesting conversation. You are taking it into the living room, following Natasha with Wanda closing behind you. You sit down on  the couch and they give you your mug filled with warmed up tea. It's even your favorite of the month, chamomile.Something about the smell and taste of it makes you feel calmer. You wait for one of them to start, not really knowing what they are even doing here at this point, you feel ashamed about how much you let them get close to you, maybe a little bit sick even, or maybe it's just because of your head.
“You should sue her, the girl that did this to you.” It's not a question and surprisingly it's coming from Wanda.
“No.” You know it might not make any sense to them but you have your reasons.
“I don't understand you Yn. Why? She hurt you, she did something horrible to your friend, why are you even trying to protect her.”
“I'm not protecting her.”
“You are, and you are putting Kate in danger because of it.” That makes you shut up and listen. For once you let them continue, really taking in what they are saying. The feeling of your throat closing up makes you feel like a kid again and you don't like it.
“You really think that she will be noble and won’t try to get you back, or Kate. If she would want to hurt you she has at least 3 ways of doing that.” You just look at her not really understanding what she means by that.
“Kate, Maria and Darcy. They are your soft spot Yn, you would always protect them or die trying. But sometimes you are fighting with somebody bigger than you, something bigger. How will you protect them if you are at work all the time, how will you protect Kate when she finishes her work at midnight and you are not with her. And even if you would pick her up everyday, you can't be at 3 places at the same time. You need help and we can provide it.”
“The question is will you let us?” They are looking at you in a way it's hard to describe. You feel the care they try to give but you can help but follow your thoughts and your gut feeling about the “why” of their intentions. What's in it for them? The thought of your friends getting hurt is crashing for you. It feels like the ceiling is slamming onto your chest making you unable to breathe. You hate feeling hopeless but you are not stupid, you can admit when your power or control over the situation goes thin with how serious things got. You need them and that is the worst thing that can happen to you. Needing somebody gives them control over you, your life, your decisions and it's just a matter of time when they will use it against you. You don't know when, but there will be this one moment, when one of them will cross your boundaries because you own them. They helped you, they were good and nice so it means that there is invisible space to hurt you, to make it even. You just need to trust yourself that you will be able to handle it when it comes, because it will, it always does. People prove you right, but you don't have a choice.
“I just want her out and far, can you do that? Can you help?” It comes out through your clenched teeth.
“We can” Natasha seems proud of herself, the sickening smirk on her face makes you believe that she is happy about this whole situation.
“How much will it cost me?” Everything has a price and you want to know it before you will agree on anything. Wanda tries to comfort you but you won’t fall for that.
“Yn you don't have to pay us anything.”
“I can't not pay, tell me how much.”
“Dinner, you said that it feels like work on our date. You own us dinner. “ Natasha states and you take a second weighing your options.
“Okay, deal. I'm gonna buy you dinner.” The idea is not your favorite but you are grateful for the opportunity to pay them back somehow, maybe it will lower down the feeling of guilt you have about them helping you.
“No,no. You're gonna cook us dinner, at our house, we have an amazing kitchen, wanda will gladly help you, she has amazing taste. right honey?” If Nat is trying to contain her excitement about having the upper hand she is not doing a very good job.
“Oh yes, we do.” Wanda answers by not taking her eyes off of you, especially your lips. You don’t know if she is trying to flirt with you or is looking at your cut, that's still bleeding a little, you feel the iron taste every time you run your tongue on it.
“Okay.” This is too important and you know it. Sometimes we have to admit when we lose, today you feel that way.
Next twenty minutes you spend on walking through the whole process of getting a restraining order against Valkyrie. It takes a lot of talking and paperwork but Wanda is amazing at her job so winning the case should be a matter of a couple weeks. You maily want it for Kate and your friends, you would rather not be on any record but Wanda is really stubborn about it, so you agree. After explaining and taking all the notes they have to take pictures of your injuries. You don;t want them to see you half naked but you understand the necessity of it. You ask Wanda to be the one taking the pictures, there is something about Natasha tak that makes you feel a little unsafe, you can't put your finger on it but it's there, and as hurt as she looks she doesn't argue. Evening came fast, it's getting dark pretty early at this time of year, so you made tea for all of you, as a small thank you towards two older women, that showed you a lot of kindness. You are all sitting in comfortable silence, they made you call off work which you understand, also Steve texted you he will kill you if you would come. You can feel their stare on you but you don't address it, keeping your eyes down on your green mug. The next thing that Wanda says takes you a bit off guard.
“I know you are scared, Yn... but you are doing just fine.”
“It doesn't feel that way.” You didn't catch yourself in time, you don't know where it's coming from but you feel yourself opening up.
“You are doing just fine.” Natasha joins in, your shoulders visibly stiff, mug in your hands lightly burn your palms with warmness but you can't let it go. You feel yourself slipping in some way, into the deeper part that is usually kept at bay, out of everybody, out of the outside world, inside of you, reminding you that it exists as clenched fists or stomach ache. You make yourself into a vessel that can only hold that much, each night in some controlling way you let go of some pain, stress or any hard emotions that are filling you up. Today you didn't get much time by yourself and it seems like you're overflowing, and you hate yourself for the stains you make with your sadness.
“It doesn't feel fine... why doesn't it feel fine?” It's funny how you think anyone can have an answer to that, even more, people that know nothing about you. You hate how pathetic you sound.
“It seems like everybody is making you reach unreachable standards, they expected too much so now you don't allow yourself any rest because you feel like you need to reach higher. But you are doing just fine, sugar. What you did today was heroic, maybe a little dumb, but you did it out of love and that was admirable” To your surprise what Natasha says actually makes some sense, and you feel it in your work, in your devotion to your friends, or in the ways you try to handle your struggles.
“It's true.. I think it's true.” You take your eyes from your mug and stare directly at Natasha, to make sure that the things you say flow through every single part of her, to see in her eyes that she actually understands. You swallow the pain, with the lump in your throat and as you reach for the raw part of you, knowing that you will regret it tomorrow you show both of them more true than before part of yourself .
“It is true Tasha.. and it changes nothing.” Your tone was the one ending this conversation. You see by Wanda's face that she wants to argue, tell you that you are just wrong, so, so wrong about this, but her wife grabs her hand and squeezes it two times with a light smile on her face. You stand up and put your mug into the sink. You move towards your room and they dont stop you. You hear them gather their stuff as you reach your door. You defeated them, proved one more time that nobody can save you from yourself. Good fucking job, be proud. You think to yourself while hearing the entrance door closing leaving you alone in an empty house. To be honest if you weren't stuck in your body you would do the same.

He looks good with kids.
Bucky x female!reader
Warnings: Kids. Jk, none, pure fluff.
Summary: Yn heart can't love more Bucky, but it can when she sees him with kids.
A/N: I gave a warning that i wanted to just write about domestic/Dad bucky. Is just the first of a thousand of bucky's fic's :)
Tumblr media
You arrived with your hand holding Bucky's.
"Aunt yn!" a little girl ran to you.
“Hey mor!” you let go of Bucky´s hand and hold the little girl. “how is my princess doing?”
“I dont want to be a princess anymore!” she said with a frown, you put her down.
“Why?” you tried to not laugh.
“Because if i want to be a queen, im gonna have to get married... with a...” she made a long pause, trying to say the next words. “boy! ew!” she said with a repulsive expression.
that was something you loved about the kids, their honesty, saying everything uncensored, you saw Bucky trying not to laugh next to you. “Morgan, say hi to Bucky, dont be rude.”
“Hi, Mr Barnes.” she was shy, and added a little wave, without leaving your side.
“Call me Bucky.” he winked at her, which made the girl blush, who could blame her?.
she nodded and then her mother appeared “Morg, go play.” the little girl obey and got inside the house. “Im so glad you could make it” she greeted huging you and gave your boyfriend a warm and friendly handshake. “But please come in”.
you took Bucky´s hand again, and got inside the house, it was such a warm and really normal and familiar house, you wouldnt guess it was Tony Stark place, it wasnt a big mansion as he used to, it didnt have any  technology gadget, and they had a yard, more like a yard it was a private forest, where all the avengers were.
“Im going to say hi to Natasha” you said, seeing her in the distance.
“Ok, i´ll go with Steve and Sam.” you nodded, Bucky kissed your cheek and headed to Natasha.
“Hey you!” your friend hugged you with one arm, cause she was holding a two month baby on her free arm, her daughter “Hey Thea, im your aunt, yn.”
the baby girl smiled at hearing your voice. “Can i hold her?”
“Of course!” she handed you the baby, when you took her in your arms, Nat sat down, glad that her arms could rest for a while. “Where´s Bucky?”
“Over there with your husband and Sam”
“It´s dangerous when they get together” you chuckled, giving her the reason, the baby start to cry. “Oh, let me”
“No,Nat, i can, dont cry Thea.” you rocked her and started singing to her. “ Hey Dorothea
Do you ever stop and think about me?
When we were younger
Down in the park”
“Doesnt she looks gorgeous with kids?” Bucky asked his two friends, they rolled their eyes.
“Uncle Bucky!” a boy approached.
“Hey kids!” they high five, smiling, it were AJ and Cass wilson, Sam nephews.
“Did you brought us what we asked for?” the soldier nodded, they went to his car, where he let out some water guns.
“Cool, thank you!” the younger one hugged his uncle and ran after his brother.
“JAMES BUCHANAN BARNES!” Sarah shouted at him, oops. “WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?, YOU GAVE MY BOYS WATER GUNS!"
Nat noticed bucky´s scared face while Sarah continued shouting at him. “Yn, your boyfriend is in trouble.”
“What?” you turned to see Bucky in the entrance. “I´ll be back.” you gave her Thea, and walked. “What´s going on?”
“James gave my kids water guns!”
your eyes opened surprised. “Why?, Bucky what...?”
“They asked me to, they texted me!” he said innocent.
“If something happens, they are your kids” Sarah said at Bucky and left, she was a good mom, she wanted what was best for her kids.
you went to sit with Bucky, saying hi to Thor and Jane, until three little girls, Morgan Stark, Cassie Lang and the younger who was Alice Quill walked there. “Auntie yn, can you come play with us?” Morgan said with a small pout.
“I´ll love it, but im going to help Sam, Sarah and Vision, to get the food ready.
“I can play with you.” Bucky said letting go of your hand. “If you want to.”
the three girls looked at you, where you just nodded. “Go, he is funny!” your boyfriend got up and walked. Morgan took the initiative and took Bucky´s hand.
“So, prince, which is your first decrete?” Cassie Lang said laughing, it been thirty minutes and the girls were comfortable now with the ex soldier, hugging him, holding his hands.
“That i get a bigger crown.” he took his princess crown off, which was hurting him, making the three girls laugh.
“Hands up! We are taking him”  The older Wilson said, pointing with his water gun.
“He is our prince, you cant take him.” The little Quill said, trying hard to hold to Bucky.
“We can!” Billy Maximoff said, he took A.J gun and got Bucky back wet.
‘i see why Sarah hated me for the water guns’ bucky thought to himself.
The boys were shooting water to the girls, and them throwing grass and toys, your boyfriend got up and tried to run.
“He is leaving!” Billy said, and all ran after him, you wouldnt guess that the weight of 7 kids could make a super soldier fall to the ground.
“Is little yn in love?” a girl voice said, Carol Danvers.
“Hey, Danvers” you turned and hugged her. “How are you?”
you started catching up, she telling you stories about the space, once in a while you turned to see Bucky in the ‘jail’, that was a playpen, where all the kids put him.
“You know his wife, will come to rescue him, right?” Morgan said to A.J while having a tea party.
“What wife?”
“Yn, duh.” she said as it was the only option.
“They arent married” the boy said.
“yes they are.” A.J just shooked his head.
“Kids, the food is ready!” Sam shouted and the kids ran, Bucky got up from the playpen  that they took from Thea, he approached you.
“I was expecting you to come to my rescue"he said resting his chin on your neck.
"Oh no, did you saw them? They had guns" you teased him, turning around to see him.
"Yn! You can stop time!" He said like a little kid, maybe an hour with 7 seven kids was more than enough.
"Here, you hamburger" You just said handing him the plate, with the bun and meat.
"Thank you, where we'll sit?"
You looked around searching for an empty table. "There" you pointed. "I was thinking of telling Sarah and Sam to sit with us".
Your boyfriend nodded, and taking your hand, you walked to the table, you were going to start eating when three girls approached the table.
"Aunt...yn... Can we, sit here?" Morgan Stark said shy, with Cassie and Alice by her side.
"Uh..." You looked at your boyfriend who with his look, he told you it was fine. "Sure, come."
"Guys, they said yes!" Morgan shouted and four more kids appeared.
"i thought it was only you three" Bucky said, trying not to laugh.
They sat, Morgan between you and Bucky, the food was delicious, and the kids were a good company. Bucky went for Soda, and coming back to his place he kissed your cheek, making you blush.
"I told you they are married!" Morgan said to A.J, biting her food.
"W-what?" You almost choke with the soda.
"Morgan thinks you two are married, but I've been telling her, you are just boyfriend and girlfriend" A.J said tired of the same argument.
"We are not married, sweetie" you cleared to the little Stark, who frown her eyebrows, confused.
"Then, why you kiss?, My mom and dad told me only married people do that." She looked at you, waiting for an answer, she was really confused, Bucky just smiled a bit.
"Because...umm..." You made a pause thinking what to answer, all the kids look where on you in that moment.
"We are going to get married, we're engaged." Bucky finally said, the most serious he could, not making notice it was a lie.
"When?" Cassie asked excited.
"Soon, in a few years, right yn?" You nodded, you let out a relief sigh, until two boys voices started arguing.
"Hey, Billy, Tommy, what is going on?"
"He took my chips without asking!" Tommy answered, looking at his brother wanting to kill him.
"But Tommy doesn't wants to share!" They started arguing again.
"Don't fight. Billy, we asked for things, and Tommy we have to share" they rolled their eyes, knowing their were being scolded. "Now Tommy, apologize"
"B-but."
"Tommy!" You looked at him, really serious. He took air and apologize, same with Billy. "Now both of you, go for more chips." They got up and murmuring they said something like 'she acted just like mom'
The food time was over, you and Bucky played hide and seek with the kids, when it was the soldiers turn to found you, Alice was the only one who hided with you, but when you had to find them, you knew wherever was Bucky you'll find at least a fifty percent of the kids. The time passed quickly hiding, and laughing.
"Who wants dessert?" Pepper said to the kids, whose eyes opened wide.
"Come on, Uncle Bucky!" Morgan took one hand of his and Cassie another, and walked together, but Alice started to cry.
"Um, Buck, you left something here." You said while Alice was on your arms.
"Sorry, baby, come on" he pointed his back with his head, and you put the little girl there. "Hold on tight" She did, putting her little arms around Bucky neck, while walking to the food area.
Once they got their dessert, including Bucky, all went to sit and start playing charades, you only heard kids real laughs, making you smile.
"Kids, why don't you go for yn?, she loves to play this, but it's to shy" Billy and Cassie nodded and went to grab you while you were with Tony and Steve.
"Come play with us, aunt yn!" Both making a pout. "Uncle Bucky said you like to play!"
"He did?" You gave a killing look to the blue eyed man, who just lift his shoulders innocent. "Fine, let's go"
You left Tony and Steve, and went play, you sat next to Bucky, his arm around your shoulders, that pose didn't last, because when you got up to play, Morgan took your place next to Bucky. 'Oh, so Bucky is the new favorite' you thought seeing him surrounded by all of them.
The day was over, after saying bye to Gamora, Quill and Alice, you helped Pepper to clean a bit.
"You know something, yn?" She said serious.
"Mhm?" You were picking up the plates and cups.
"All this afternoon, i saw a girl with Bucky, you should be more careful."
A girl? Which girl? All of the avengers girls were taken, you thought for a few seconds, but no one came to your mind, until Pepper told you to turn, where it was your boyfriend and the girl who wanted to steal him, Morgan, watching the Sunset, she was in his arms, one arm on his neck, while he was talking to her, not being to able hear, but seeing him with kids, to see his sweet and soft side made your heart melt.
"So, you see, the sun loves the moon so much, he goes to let her shine for hours." The girl's eye opened wide at the story.
"Morgan, they have to go." Her mother said walking to her.
"Stay to sleep, please?" Morgan said with a pout, without letting go of Bucky.
"We are going to stay at the Roger's, baby girl." You told her, which made her sad. "But, if you behave, we can make a sleepover next week at my place!"
Her eyes shined, and a smile appeared. "Really?"
"Of course, beautiful, but you have to be nice, ok?" Your boyfriend told the little girl putting her down.
"Mom, he calls me beautiful! He doesn't calls yn that" she tried to whisper but failed, Pepper just nodded, taking her hand, getting inside of the house"Bye guys." Morgan shouted before entering the house.
"what?" Your boyfriend noticed you looking at him.
"nothing..." You chuckled softly, and got into the Rogers car.
A few days later.
You were making breakfast, when your phone rang, the contact name was Tony Stark, it was a FaceTime. What if something had happened to him? Was he okay? You answered nervous, but when the camera opened, you saw Morgan, making you feel relieved.
"Hey Morgan!" You greeted her.
"Hi, aunt yn!" You could tell her she was trying to see the house, looking for something. "Are you alone?"
"Yes?"you said confused" But one friend is coming over."
"Oh, is not uncle Bucky there?" You chuckled, of course she wanted to see her 'uncle'.
"No sweetie" you shook your head, making Morgan eyes sad. "He went to help uncle Sam with something, he'll be back at night."
"Oh okay, I'll call him then! Bye." You were going to talk but she hang up.
The night came and your boyfriend went to your place to say hi and having dinner.
While eating dinner, you said to him about the morning call.
"I received a weird call today"
"What?, From who?" He asked looking up from his dumplings.
"A girl you know." You said serious, like you were mad.
"come on yn, it was Wanda? Or Carol, or Natasha?" You shook your head.
"Morgan Stark" He laughed.
"Wait, why?"
"She wanted to talk to you, you should call her" your look went back to your noodles.
"Are you jealous that she prefers me?" He teased you, making you laugh.
"No..."
"Yes, you are." He pointed his fork at you, making you let out a good laugh.
"Just call Morgan!" You said playing you were angry, after dinner he did, you heard how Morgan told him all about school, and her toys, and dolls, all that she could ever think about, and he was paying attention, gasping every minute about something she said or showed.
Your heart melted again. 'He looks so good with kids'.
