Bruce didn’t mean to slice Jason’s throat and if he did mean it, it was only to disable , it wasn’t lethal and the wound would’ve been treated, and though that didn’t happen it wasn’t Bruce who sealed Jason’s fate but Joker who set off the explosion, and anyways Jason didn’t actually die he comes back in other comics.
Except none of that matters. It matters for the validity of UTRH as a Batman story that Bruce has deniability sure, but does it absolve him? UTRH says No. At the end of the day Bruce would rather attack his son than let his murderer die. Bruce thought he was refusing the choice but the lesson of this tragedy is that refusing to pick one over the other boils down to choosing the other.

I Still Need You

Rise!Leo X Injured!Reader (Part 1)
Prompt: When you go into a coma after the Kraang Battle, Leo takes it harder than the rest of his brothers.
Pronouns: Gender Neutral (they/them)
Relationship: Dating (official)
Timeline: Post!Movie
Warnings ⚠️: Strong language, angst, blood, mourning, mentions of trauma
Look here for part 2
================================
“C’mon, (Y/N),” Leo urged them as he carried them towards the Med Bay within the lair, “stay with me!”
Their eyelids flickered, staring up at the turtle. “Leo… I wanna… I wanna sleep..”
“No!” Leo somewhat shouted at them. “Don’t go to sleep! Just keep looking at me, baby. We’re gonna get you fixed up. Just keep your eyes on me.”
But little could be done. Their boyfriend focused and unfocused in and out of their vision. “Leo… am I gonna die…?”
He stared down at them, a look of anguish defining his features. In all honesty, he didn’t know. When Raph threw the debris off of your still form, all he saw was blood. Blood and ash from the crumbling building. Adrenaline stopped him from standing and staring too long as he instantly scooped her up and headed to the lair with the rest of his brothers.
Leo couldn’t lie to them. “Just keep looking at me. Don’t close your eyes.”
Right from the very beginning of the invasion, he had told (Y/N) to stay behind in the lair. They were as stubborn as always and followed Splinter and April to the surface, and he only knew of this when he heard them on the mics they all had on them. He’d told them to go back to safety, but they were determined to help him and his brothers defeat the Kraang. The last thing Leo had heard from them was a scream and then their mic cut out.
When Leo entered the Med Bay, he shouted for Donnie as he gently laid (Y/N)—who’d passed out by now—down on a vacant gurney.
The purple clad turtle rushed into the room with a box containing Saline solution. He hooked it onto the IV pole and attempted to find a vein within (Y/N)’s arm before Leo piped up.
“They don’t need that!” The turtle exclaimed as he grabbed Donnie’s shoulder. “You have to stop the bleeding! They’re bleeding from somewhere!”
Shrugging his hand off and sneering, Donnie finally pushed the needle into their arm. “It doesn’t work like that, Leo. They need fluids before I can do anything.”
Just then, the blue clad turtle realized he’d been shaking the entire time. Shaking with both anxiety and anger. “Donnie, they’re gonna fucking die! Don’t you realize that?! (Y/N)’s gonna—”
“Dammit, Leo!” The older twin bottled his fist, striking the floor in protest. “I’m trying my best! You’re distracting me so you need to leave!”
Everything seemed to go in slow motion after his brother’s demand. Leave? Leave them? After all they’d been through, he was just going to leave them alone? Leo went to say something, but then gazed down at his blood ridden hands and plastron. Thoughts rushed through his mind as the turtle began to breathe heavily.
This was his fault, he thought. If he had just let Raph get the key, the Kraang wouldn’t have been unleashed from the Prison Dimension. Casey wouldn’t have been raised in a post apocalyptic world. Everyone and everything would be normal. He should’ve been more deliberate in telling (Y/N) to go back underground rather. He was the cause of their pain and potential death.
He then suddenly felt a hand caressed his wrist, breaking him out of his pity party. “Leo, I need you to get a grip. (Y/N) will be fine if you let me help them. So, please. You have to go.”
“I…” is all Leo could utter before Donnie returned to (Y/N) to tend to their wounds.
Despite the harshness of his words, they stuck in the blue turtle’s mind. His partner was dying and harassing their only help wasn’t useful. There didn’t need to be anymore blood on his hands. He’d fucked up enough already, he thought.
~~~
For the next few days, Leo slept at the entrance of the Med Bay. Donnie didn’t allow him to see them until they were stabilized. The brothers had argued the first and second time, the younger twin claiming he had every right to see his partner no matter their condition. Donnie argued that (Y/N) still needed to be moderated and didn’t need Leo to stress them out.
(Y/N) had developed seizures that lasted longer the more they occurred, forcing the scientist to put them in a medically induced coma. His twin wasn’t happy about that either on the grounds of the improbability of them ever waking up.
“Leo, this isn’t a debate.” Donnie groaned as he stood behind the glass at Med Bay entrance with another IV bag in his hand. “(Y/N) needs time to heal and coming in to profusely ask them if they’re okay isn’t helpful.”
A fist formed at Leo’s side, glaring at his brother. “All I’m asking for is to see them.”
Donatello shook his head with a sigh. “You don’t want to see them right now. Trust me.”
“Then—” but again, his brother ambled further into the Med Bay, blatantly ignoring him.
It made him angry that he wasn’t being heard. Earlier that day the first argument ensued, Leo had witnessed Raph enter the Med Bay as he was returning from breakfast with his youngest brother. The twin pounded on the door demanding to be let in, but he wasn’t sure if they had even heard him or his older brothers were ignoring his pleas.
The idea of what (Y/N) was going through provoked instant nausea, leading Leo to stay in the bathroom by the toilet for hours. Nothing stayed down and it was as if he made himself physically sick from worry.
Eventually, Mikey grew concerned when he’d heard dry heaving and entered the bathroom only to be turned away.
“I’m alright, Mikey.” Leo reassured him. “Please just leave.”
The youngest brother didn’t know exactly what to say. This was Raph’s area of expertise. He would’ve said something motivational or profound, but all the orange clad turtle could do was crouch down next to him and place his hand against Leo’s shell as he expelled into the toilet once more.
In a way, Mikey had been left in the dark with (Y/N)’s condition, too. He assumed Donnie thought he’d tell Leo what was going on with him. But looking at his lethargic brother now, he felt like he owed him some kind of update.
So later that day, Mikey took it upon himself to call his brother and plead with him to let him or Leo know how (Y/N) was doing.
“Don, Leo’s losing it. He was literally throwing up just a few hours ago. Why can’t you just tell me what’s happening with them. Just to keep him from—”
“Mikey,” Donnie cut him off, “did he put you up to this?”
The orange turtle furrowed his eyebrows. “Wha—no! I said I—”
Through the phone, Mikey heard loud pounding footsteps grow louder until they paused and he heard the voice of his oldest brother. “Listen, Mikey. I know you and Leo are worried about them, but you have to understand that we don’t even fully know their condition. We will let you know when (Y/N) is better.”
The youngest turtle attempted to say something else, but the call dropped right after Raph had finished his sentence.
~~~
A week passed. (Y/N) was still in the coma and Leo was still sleeping at the Med Bay entrance. In fact, he’d gone from sleeping there to basically moving his entire room into the narrow space.
One night on his way out of the wing, Donnie almost tripped over the younger twin and the spread of comic books and blankets scattered across the floor. The scientist grumbled in frustration, gazing down at the mess.
He squatted down to his brother’s side and shook him slightly. “Leo, wake up. You can’t sleep here anymore if you’re gonna leave all this here.”
Leo glanced at him before snatching his shoulder away, turning the opposite way. “I can sleep wherever I want.”
“Sure—but not where people can trip over you.” He began collecting the comics, placing them into neat stacks.
The blue turtle sized Donnie up as he organized his comics before sighing. “Do you even care? You’re seriously more concerned about everybody else tripping over someone—your own brother—that’s been sleeping on the floor for over a week?”
Donnie grumbled as he set the final comics down on the stack. “I do care, Leo. My problem is you don’t trust me. You know I know what I’m doing. Just trust that I will tell you when (Y/N) is better.”
“But I don’t!” He swiped his hand through the middle on the comic pile, swiftly knocking it over. Leo leapt to his feet, Donnie copying his action. “I don’t fucking trust you. It’s been a week and I don’t even know if (Y/N) is alive! Them ending up like this is my fault so I should be allowed to have a part in this. I’ve literally been sick to my fucking stomach for days and you just don’t give a fuck. So no, I don’t trust you. Not with this, Donnie.”
The scientist’s expression remained stoic, which only pissed off Leo more.
Realistically, Donnie did care to an extent. He cared that his brother was getting physically sick from worry. He cared that his brother was sleeping at the entrance of the Med Bay. But he knew all Leo’s worries would be resolved if (Y/N) was awake and stable. If Leo saw how they looked right now, he’d surely break down and act the way he did when he first brought them to the lair.
Right now, (Y/N) was covered in needles leading to IV bags full of various fluids as well as an oxygen and feeding tube. Before they and Leo started dating, (Y/N) would hang out in Donnie’s lab. Most of the time, they would talk his ear off about subjectively meaningless topics. Other times, they’d help him out. The two grew closer until Leo swooped in and ruined everything. They didn’t talk to Donnie as often, mostly going out somewhere with their boyfriend.
To Donnie, his brother’s current demeanor was unjustified. For years, Leo had (Y/N) all to himself. Would it kill him to be without them for a few weeks? He’d stolen his friend, and while what the older twin was doing wasn’t intentionally vindictive, he didn’t feel all that bad for Leo.
The older twin pinched the bridge of his nose and exhaled. “Listen… I’m doing my best to get (Y/N) stable enough for you to see them. I’m not a miracle worker—I’m not even a doctor. Do you think I’m not stressed out, too? Like I’m just okay with my friend being in a coma? Did you think I liked doing that?” Donnie fought off tears as he continued. “You have no reason not to trust me. They were mine before they were yours, so don’t pretend that I don’t care! Don’t insinuate that I’d lie about their condition! And stop throwing the same goddamn pity party for yourself. Nobody is pressing you except yourself. I am the only one that’s been getting harped on, so shut the fuck up!” He then stomped passed the glass doors into the Med Bay.
Anger—no, malice suddenly consumed Leo as he stared daggers into the back of Donnie’s head. Who the fuck did he think he was? “They were mine before they were yours”. (Y/N) had always been his. And why did he feel the need to bring it up at this moment in time? What was his point in saying that?
Malice soon took control of his body as he flew past the glass doors, charging at his older twin.

Author’s Note: Soooo I’m realizing this is getting super long and there’s so much more I want to write, so I’m breaking it up into two (possibly three) parts.(´∀`)
The second part should be coming out a day or two after this part is posted, so keep watch if you’re interested!

hold on, for me thomas x teresa (angst) synopsis: canon divergence for thomesa week word count: 1k warnings: death, bleeding, explosions masterlist | requests are open
the veins in janson's forehead pop out, thomas' fingers feeling the pulse racing through his jugular. despite janson's hands pulling at thomas' shirt, ripping sections off, he can still feel the muscles with every clench. "you'll regret thi-" janson's now gravely voice is cut off by the sound of snapping, his eyes bulging.
no amount of blood-curdling noises or the sight of janson's tongue jutting from his mouth can stop thomas' blind rage. their capture, the experiments set on them, newt's body filled with a metal bullet. all of their lives were consequently ruined by janson's actions, by his blindness for something else. thomas' hands stay wrapped around janson's throat, body limp.
the sound of explosions burst his eardrums, face red with anger. even the palm of a hand slapping the side of his face can't seem to shake him from such violence. a noise, a voice of sorts, shouts in his ear. he can't quite tell what it is, the noise a mere buzz compared to the building falling around him. "he's dead!" minho appears in front of him, shaking his shoulders to bring thomas back to his senses.
"he's dead," minho's voice softs as thomas stares back into his eyes, knowing he finally got through to the runner.
thomas finally lets go of janson's neck, bruises forming where his hands were, leaving an eerie shadow. he stumbles upwards, minho helping him stabilize before pulling him close, shouting in his ear, "we put them all out of commission! we need to go!"
two explosions rattle the storage room. minho and thomas push through the dust and debris as they run for the maintenance room, ignoring the walls crumbling around them. a piece of ceiling falls next to them, sending thomas to the ground, his arm scratched and soon to be bruised. minho grabs at thomas's arms, one hand under his armpit, pulling him until his feet can gain traction.
the ground rumbles as another explosion goes off in a nearby room, throwing minho against a wall. his body slams into the wall, a groan leaving his lips. "we need to hurry!" thomas shouts, pulling minho, trying to throw minho's arm over his shoulder.
minho stumbles to follow him, nearly running into brenda who appeared from another hallway. as thomas lays eyes on her, he instantly thinks to teresa. where is she? is she injured, dead? as if he manifested her himself, she runs up to them, tumbling through the rocky flooring.
she's dirty, blood smeared around different parts of her clothing. teresa's gaze lands on thomas, the sight of a large piece of ceiling tearing from the rest of it. she shouts for him, running towards him, "get out of the way!"
just as she jumps towards him, the piece falls from the ceiling. every part of her wanted to make up for the pain she had caused thomas, even if she believed in wicked's intentions. she wanted to watch him grow old with happiness in a free land. she wanted him to love her just as she did for him. maybe, in a way, he does, especially when he takes the last second to push her away.
the ceiling collapses onto thomas' legs and midsection. it crushes his bones and organs, blood seeping onto the tile flooring. "thomas!" her voice screeches at a tone that never seemed possible for her, completing taking over the sounds of rocks colliding around them.
his face is covered in grime, and she can't help but run to him, yelling his name again. she pictures him nearly dying to gally, the spear just nearly colliding with him. the thought of wicked taking a saw to his skull, blood splattering. he could've died in so many ways, in so many times. yet, now, when all he could've done is let teresa do the right thing, he can't stop it.
"thomas! please! please, i can't do this without you! i'm sorry!"
he looks over at her, eyes meeting hers, watching as the blue fades into a clouded gray. his mouth barely moves, the sounds of his voice quiet and only audible as she moves in closer, "me too... i only ever cared for..."
his lips stop moving, time freezes around teresa and all she can do is watch, "thomas, just hang on a little longer! please! you have to hang on just a little longer!"
she brings her hands up to his face, pushing back the hair that hung down, "thomas, just a little longer, for me." tears build up in her eyes, cascading only after it begins to blur her vision. for a moment, she realizes that that could've been her. teresa could've been the one to have left thomas alive. she could've taken the easier route than being alive without the only person she ever truly loved.
teresa's hands pull from him as someone yanks her away from thomas. they pull vigorously, her body numb and unable to fight whoever had the strength to still save her. after everything she did, after everyone decided she was the betrayer. they still pulled her through the rubble and continuous falling of the building around them. when she finally catches a glimpse of who was pulling her, minho, she knew that this was her defining moment.
minho, the man who hated her since the building, the one who never trusted her, saved her. maybe it was because she attempted to save thomas. maybe it was because he knew that thomas would've done anything to save her if he had the chance, and that was enough for him. she held back tears and strengthened herself enough to make it through the maintenance door with them.
on the other side is a flat trans, the room empty of any other people. she looks over at minho and quickly follows him towards the flat trans. the echos of flames crackling behind them accompany the thick booming of the building slowly falling and crushing every room with it. any second they could be dead, but all teresa could think of before jumping forward into the icy grey wall is thomas.
a/n: i hope you all enjoyed (or at least at much as you can lol)! @thomesa-week

Rewrite of the season 5 finale
The finale wasn't awful, yes, but its not the angst filled jelly doughnut I was expecting.
[Au where everything is the same Chat was actually in the last two episodes and not in a isolation deprivation chamber]
Chat coughed, the dust of broken brick and drywall filling his throat until every breath could only crawl out of his lungs. A strange feeling told him to check on his leg, and when he did the sight made him dizzy. His suit had done its best to protect him, but there was an odd swelling building up in his left calf, contained only by skin-tight latex.
Ladybug. He swiveled around, looking for any glance of red that hadn’t turned a dark shade of rust. She could fix this, she could fix everything.
Begging his body to move, he crawled along the floor, trying not to grimace at the occasional piece of rubble digging into his stomach. He just needed to find her… He just needed to…
“Marinette…” He heard a familiar small voice weeping behind a pile of debris, and panic built up in his chest. Had she somehow gotten caught up in this giant mess? Was she hurt? Was she-?
“Lady… Bug…?” The words slipped out his mouth but he didn’t feel them form. Instead, he felt bile rising up through the back of his throat and collapsed, vomiting as far away as he could. “L-ladybug-... I’m sorry.” He couldn’t even look at her.
She was unconscious, and for her sake, he was grateful for that. Although the heavy bruising and bleeding lips couldn’t take away the gracefulness of her face, what lay below was a contorted mess that contrasted her peaceful beauty uncannily. Skin, raw, even more raw than when Nino got in that biking accident that landed him a skin graft, pulsed unnaturally. In disjointed layers were part human flesh, part something else, peeling off in some places and unnaturally fused in others.
Her breathing was so painful it hurt to listen to. He watched her chest rise and fall irregularly; her entire frame shook as if something was forcing her lungs and heart to keep pumping.
But the worst part was that she would not bleed. Instead, in whatever places she appeared to be wounded, something unnaturally black and red was squeezed in tightly, as if trying to replace her skin tissue entirely.
“Tikki.” He whispered, wiping his mouth with a shaking hand. “What is that? On her, on her, oh my God.” He watched in horror as he saw it move, no not move, slither into wherever there was an abscess of flesh and conjoin into her body.
“I… I’m not sure.” The kwami sobbed, holding onto her owner for dear life. “But the suit… something’s wrong. Something’s been wrong for a while. I think…I think it's trying to protect her.”
“WELL TELL IT TO DETRANSFORM.” He screamed at her, a ringing in his ears.
“I can’t… I can’t Chat Noir…” She sobbed, tears rolling down her cheeks.
“WHY THE FUCK NOT?!”
“Because I think- I think she’ll die without it.”
That stopped him in his tracks. “Is she…?” Chat took a tentative hand and examined her injuries. They hadn’t looked life-threatening before, just a grotesque combination of some knock-off Alien effects and a burn accident. But as he traced along an open wound near her upper stomach, his stomach dropped as he felt how deep it was. The ringing in his ears got louder.
“Oh my GOD!” He jumped back as he finally realized what that weird bump he’d been touching was. “That’s her- that’s her rib-.” He didn’t mean to sound so sure, secretly hoping it would be taken as a question so somebody could correct him about this sick joke. “So why is it…”
Someone was laughing very loudly. The kind of laughter you’d hear from those mad scientists in 80’s films where some very fucked up human experiment was about to occur.
“Why is it… Polka-dotted…?” He grabbed his face with both hands, and realized the laughter stopped when he covered his face.
“The miraculous is trying its best, Chat Noir.” The familiar looked towards him pleadingly. “We can only trust it.”
He scrambled away, being only somewhat aware of something piercing his back. “I… Marinette…” He fought the urge to laugh again.
He’d been so excited for the day when they’d reveal their identities to each other, finally able to be open with each other and celebrate their permanent victory. He’d sweep her off her feet and take her to the nicest cafe in town, watch the sunset together while eating ice cream, go dancing when the moon came out and the city was truly alive.
He didn’t feel like dancing now.
“Urghh…” A man’s voice in pain interrupted what little happy thoughts he had, and he grit his teeth realizing the source.
“Hawkmoth…” With what little strength he had left, he forced himself up by leaning on his pole. The source of all their troubles, their anger, their pain.
“HAWKMOTH!” He screamed at the collapsed room, trying to spot his arch-nemesis. “SHOW YOURSELF.”
A quiet bout of coughing was all he needed to locate him, and with a strong limp and enough fury to blot out the sun, he quickly spotted someone’s leg stuck under a chunk of broken roof.
His hands clenched his weapon tightly as he prepared to smite the next head he saw, until he saw the owner of the trapped body part.
The baton fell out of his hands.
“Da-?”
“Dead? No, not yet. But you might as well finish the damn job. Nothing can repair what’s been lost at this point.” His father coughed again, this time poorly-disguised blood splattering the rubble around them.
“W-what?” Adrien couldn’t process anything that was going on.
“If you idiotic kids just let me make my wish, just let me fix this whole mess, all of this could’ve been avoided. Everything would’ve been perfect. My dear wife would’ve finally come back to me, healthy and strong. My rotting body, I would've thrown it away to achieve my dream. But now, there is no coming back from this.” He gestured towards the direction Chat had come from, and he could only turn around, horrified, as he spotted a painfully familiar slender hand, sticking out from a pile of rubble.
“No... It can't be..." His breathing started hitching, the room started to blur.
"Mom?” He hadn’t called out for mother in more than ten years. Why did it have to be like this?
“A-Adrien?” Gabriel Agreste’s usual steady voice broke at the realization. “No, it can’t be true. Not him, not him of all people. Turn around Chat Noir. Turn around and tell me-.” Adrien could hear him painfully hacking up more of his insides. “Turn around and tell me you are not my son.” He finished weakly.
Without a hesitant step, he faced his worst enemy once again, this time with a different feeling than just smothering anger.
“Plagg, claws off.”
Adrien had never heard his father cry before, not even at his mom’s funeral. He’d looked on with a disgruntled face like it’d been another task to finish in his impossibly busy schedule.
Biting his lip, he resisted the urge to ask him to stop weeping so loudly. It made him uncomfortable, along with making that unknown feeling in his chest ever more painful.
“Mourning, I’m mourning him.” The thought hit him like a dagger, digging deeper into his body until he didn’t want to pull it out.
He looked down to his leg, a flood of trapped gore finally released onto the floor, and got queasy at the sight of it.
“Just- Just wait here. I gotta call 112 so Ladybug can reverse all this-.”
“SHE CAN’T REVERSE THIS.” His dad screamed at him, eyes red behind his cracked glasses. “You should know this of all people. The ancient texts state that the Ladybug miraculous can reverse all things, all things except death.”
Adrien turned around, reaching out towards where his mother- his mother who’d been declared dead a decade ago- had apparently just been moments ago.
“I didn’t think I could lose a dead person twice.” He murmured, allowing his legs to finally buckle beneath him. “But I guess I’ve always had shit luck.”
“Adrien, with your miraculous and Ladybug’s, we could build a whole new world together. A world where we can be a family again." He struggled to stand up, half of his body crushed underneath the heavy debris. “A world with your mother back, a world where none of this happened, a world where we never know pain or grief.”
Feebly, he reached out and grabbed Adrien’s arm. “Don’t you want that? Don’t you want to make your mother happy?”
Adrien looked down for one second at the clasped, bleeding hand before pulling away, years of pent up frustration and rage bubbling up inside.
“She WAS happy. I was happy. I still am.” He hated crying in front of adults, it always made them look at him like he was a child. “But you… you still couldn’t make your peace with it.”
“Adrien! Now is not the time to disrespect authority-.”
“I- For the past seventeen years, haven’t I been the perfect son? Haven’t I done every single fucking thing you ask me to do, no matter how extreme? Haven’t I laid down my happiness just so you can live your sick fantasy of-of God knows what! You have everything, father, you have money, you have an empire, you have Natalie, you have Gorilla, you… you had me. But it's MY life, and yet every time, like some kind of obsession, I HAD to do everything you said. But the worst part is-.” He swallowed dirty tears mixed with dust and grime. “Is that I didn’t care. I had no ambitions or dreams or whatever else normal kids have. I just had my parents, and when mom died, I just had you, Dad.”
“But you could have it all again, Adrien, you could make everything right! Just think of what life would be like with her back. Surely, son, we want the same thing.” The look on his face was so happily desperate it was sickening.
“Even if she did come back… Mom would be sorry to have such a pathetic, groveling, dependent parasite of a husband. You need her dad, but she doesn’t need you.”
The look on his face quickly turned to shocked anger. Adrien didn’t think he’d called his father anything worse than ‘bland’ in his entire life.
“I ORDER YOU-!”
Adrien took his ring off and flung it towards his father. “Take it. Just fucking take it! But just know if you put that miraculous on, it's over. I’ll never come back home, with or without mom.” He glared deeply at the man before him, suddenly a stranger where a guardian had laid before. “In this world, dad, or the next.”
Without any hesitation, Gabriel grabbed the ring and shoved it onto a bleeding finger.
Adrien sighed, and stood to get up, despite the dizziness and exhaustion quickly catching up.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Gabriel glared at him and quickly reached for his hand, before a slow look of horror drew on his face. “My-my ring-.”
“You have a new one to replace it now, don’t you?” He snarled, before turning around and limping away.
“Adrien, you don’t understand, the ring, its-!” He didn’t bother waiting for him to finish, instead gazing around the room where his Ladybug lay on one side, and his crushed mother’s body lay on the other.
“Sorry mom. I miss you, I really do. But… But you can’t come back.” He bit his lip until he tasted blood before preparing himself for the grisly sight that was Ladybug.
Now Marinette.
The mask on her face had been partly destroyed earlier, but now it was almost completely receded. A part of him wished that her identity was still a secret; it made him uneasy knowing that strong, confident, know-it-all Ladybug could be the sweet, innocent, and easy-going Marinette.
“112? An ambulance, please. Actually… make it two. Two critically injured, one a teenage girl and the other a middle-aged man. What type of injuries…?” Adrien furrowed his eyebrows. “Let’s go with all of the above.”
He sighed as he ended the call, before squatting down to keep a better eye on Marinette. Her breathing had slightly improved, although the miraculous had clearly warped her body more since he’d been gone.
Looking down at a specific patch where skin and broken magic had welded together unnaturally, a moment of morbid curiosity took him as he cautiously reached down to graze it. What in the world was this thing doing to her? Was it the suit? Could his own suit do that to him as well.
As he grimaced at that thought, Marinette suddenly opened her eyes and sat up, coughing wildly as she took in excruciatingly dry breaths.
“Marinette!” Adrien exclaimed, part relief, part fear. “Take it easy, take it easy. Help is coming.”
“Wha…? Adrien?” Her pupils had a fuzzy look on them. “Where-, what’s going on…?”
“Everything’s fine, just relax, please.” He gently guided her to lay down once again. “How do you feel?”
“As great as I look, I suppose.” She was looking right at him, but her gaze was somewhere a million years away.  “Oh my God.”
She sat up straight once again. “Chat Noir… and- and- Hawk Moth, he’s-.”
“My dad? I know.” He forced a comforting smile on his face. “But it's alright, he’s-.”
“He’s going to die.” She finished, before collapsing once again.

Nvm we're back to movie au because I'm feeling soft featuring obviously our fav @oogaboogaspookyman horrid little bastard who is no longer a horrid bastard but is now a well mannered British little bastard beloved we love the difference
Accident
It happened very quickly. An incorrectly secured light fixture crashed down onto set smashing and destroying the background pieces scattering glass everywhere and set alight. The fire spread beginning to burn all the props due to the paint that was used, background pieces set alight in a blink, it crawled up the background canvases and spread across the rafters, the lights cracking fizzling out with loud bangs sending the building into darkness and panic.
A support beam collapsed over a fire escape as employees screamed and panicked they ran around coughing desperate for an exit one of them grabbed a fire extinguisher to put out the source but was grabbed by the monochrome Mewtwo who snarled about it being an electrical fire from the light you idiot. May coughed her lungs becoming tight as she looked around with difficulty through the quickly gathering smoke and smog, she was in a panic stuck to the spot. She could see her brother lying on the floor, his head was bleeding. He'd been knocked out as a dark Mewtwo stood over him trying to get the debris off of him.
Screams of panic ringed in her ears making her head throb, why weren't the sprinklers turning on? Oh god were they going to die in here? Burn alive due to inadequate safety measures. There were so many people and pokemon here too many lives that'd be too much death. Coughing screaming yelling panic. More people were collapsing or lying down to escape the smoke for air as it filled up the room heavily weighing down on them all. She couldn't let everyone in here die!
The monochromatic Mewtwo felt the tingling of psychic energy in his fingertips like electricity and before he could yell at May ask what the hell she was doing- he was outside. They were all outside. He spun on the spot levitating slightly looking around in a frenzy, the building crackled and the fire raged on. Everyone was out. No. Not everyone.
"May!"
He yelled quickly flying overhead scanning through the crowd of people that had been teleported out the building he flew down towards her manager, the odd dark hued mewtwo with crystals embedded in her body.
"Wheres May?!"
He half asked half demanded as the Two tended to Matts injuries.
"Is she not out here? I saw her eyes glowing?" She asked shushing Matt who groaned and pushed him down gently when he tried to sit up groggily asking where his sister was.
"If she was out here I wouldn't be asking where she was!"
The frustrated monochrome two snarled at her before looking back at the building in growing horror as he heard a loud creak realizing that she was still inside and hadn't been able to get out.
Without really thinking he flew rapidly at the building, being a ghost had its advantages as he phased through the wall keeping an incorporeal state to avoid the effects of smoke as he looked around frantically. The building was thick with black billowing smoke that rolled in waves blocking his view. He couldn't use psychic to move it as it had nowhere to go and it could shove air into the fire. He frantically scanned around, focusing to sense her aura.
In his altered vision he spotted a faint orange glow that began to flicker and falter weakening and quickly flew towards it, she was on the floor passed out either from smoke inhalation or exhaustion from teleporting that many people out of a building with her already weak powers or both. He became corporeal and coughed against the smoke and the horrible heat as he wrapped his arms under hers to haul her up to carry her.
"I'm not letting you die here you blithering idiot,"
He chastised as he pulled her up attempting to hold her and realizing she was heavy as dead weight and the growing smoke in his lungs was weakening his strength, not to mention the flames were creeping in starting to stretch out and lick at his tail and legs in a way that would likely burn. He snorted frustrated, he pulled her up, arms wrapping around her waist as she made a soft mumble noise.
He realized that flames were closing in, his eyes were watering from smoke and heat as he coughed, he could become ghostly while he had the strength but then he wouldn't be able to interact with her, he could save himself but he wouldn't! He wouldn't just let her die here and save his own skin. He hissed as a flame splashed against him snarling towards it before coughing, breathing becoming harder. He heard another long drawn out creak, and a snap, and a fall. Another support beam came falling down right on top of them, he dropped to a crouch holding his body over hers desperate to summon any strength left into a barrier or any kind of protection.
Another crash could be heard from the building, it took multiple staff members and Pokemon to hold back Matt and Darkness, Matt screamed and yelled profanities at them telling, no, demanding them to let him go because his sister was in there. Darkness also shouted at them to see sense that both the mewtwo in that building inch closer to death every second they waste stopping them. They both went quiet as a large flame burst out from the roof of the building with a loud BOOM.
Matt crumbled in the grip of the people restraining him, falling to his knees as he began to sob in despair and pain. Darkness could only stare forward at the raging flames and thick smoke.
It took hours for the fire department to put the flames out, they were aggressive and unrelenting and the thick smoke meant the trained personnel needed to swap out to a safe distance to regain their breath. When the fire finally dimmed to a manageable flicker it was growing dark, the fire had started in the afternoon…
Search and rescue began their job and once more Darkness was restrained, she wasn't trained like they were, they knew how to move rubble without causing it to collapse elsewhere potentially crushing any survivors, she did not. She could only watch in frustration as they slowly methodically did their job. She'd refused care due to her wounds already healing from the synergy energy, Matt had to be given light sedatives for his aggression so he was more, agreeable, about being taken away to be seen for his head injury and assorted burns.
A Gurdurr and Medicham worked together, the Medicham scanning the surroundings with psychic energy to get a mental blueprint of the chaos and carefully instructing Gurdurr on which parts to lift to safely deconstruct the wreckage without causing it to collapse. The Gurdurr carefully threw aside a large ceiling concrete slab before vocalizing to the Medicham. A swirling white and black dome like shape sat planted into the ground with debris piled on top of it. The Medicham vocalized to the other pairs to come help as they began to remove the debris, the human supervisors coming along too, as the broken building was removed the dome seemed to reduce in opacity becoming semi see through.
Inside May and the monochromatic Mewtwo clung to one another desperately, his eyes were shut with dark psychic energy pouring out from the sides of his closed eyes waving and flowing out. May's eyes were wide open but unseeing, completely whitened over and glowing faintly with her psychic energy. Neither of them seemed aware of the situation both just clinging as the dark and white psychic energy protecting them both swirled around them both desperately wanting to protect the other, forming one rather indestructible long lasting protect.
When the last piece of debris was safely removed one of the human search and rescue members gently knocked their knuckles against the very dense protect dome, "can you two hear us?" May's eyes faltered into half lids her psychic energy sparking and fading from her eyes and the dome, she blinked slowly and blinked again before slumping completely limp in the monochrome ones arms as her grip slipped from him, his eyes opened in a start the dark psychic energy overflowing from his eyes darkening the dome over as he snarled before he blinked realizing that it was help. His psychic energy gently blew away in a breeze before he shivered at the cold.
The psychic search and rescue members lifted May's unconscious body onto a stretcher to be taken to an ambulance while the people attempted to look the monochromatic one over. He shoved them away flying up and wobbling slightly in tiredness but followed them into the ambulance taking up the relative seat in the ambulance next to May as they began trying to help her much to Darkness' frustration at the audacity. He slapped away attempts to look him over, snarling at the ambulance worker to focus on the unconscious one, not him.
——————————————————————
The monochrome ones' leg bounced irritated and frustrated as he sat in a chair next to the orange hued Mewtwos hospital bed. He'd been forcefully seen to, so his wounds were bandaged up and he'd been given oxygen and instructions to not go near lung irritants and just to take cough drops for his throat and rest and get sleep. However sleep he would not do, he'd been up all night besides her having left his own bed watching over her in her room, her smoke inhalation had been worse than his as was her burns, she had a breathing mask on to help ensure she got enough oxygen which also acted as a filter that helped remove the lingering smoke in her lungs with each exhale. He'd dragged a night nurse into the room in a panic when he noticed her condition becoming worse, her over exhaustion leading to sickness and a fever so she'd been put on some drip fluids too due to how weakened she was from over exerting herself with her powers.
He'd paced the room multiple times, aggressively straightening the curtains to ensure no moonlight crept in and disturbed her, made sure the blanket properly covered her and tucked her in, fluffed her cushion, checked her medical sheet and that she was hooked up properly multiple times. As of right now he was gently holding her wrist, his fingers pressing faintly to feel her pulse, just to be sure the machines were correct that's all. He sighed softly hanging his head as his leg bounced, the TV in the room mumbled nonsense that he couldn't make out as he was actively ignoring it, especially as it was talking about the fire, his fingers moved down her wrist brushing over her palm hesitantly choosing to rest his two main fingers in her palm pressing them against her hand and squeezing with his thumb at the back of her hand, an unsure hand squeeze without committing to a full hand hold.
He was beginning to grow frustrated ready to aggressively sort her room out again when her thumb twitched and the best it could, squeezed his fingers against her palm. He looked up to see her eyes barely open as if her eyelids were incredibly heavy which they probably were for her.
"Who's getting sued…?" Her voice was incredibly small and croaked before she coughed realizing she definitely shouldn't have spoken. He panicked slightly moving his hand and getting a glass of water for her saying gently,
"hey hey easy,"
He carefully adjusted her bed position so it slowly lifted her into a slanted sitting position not perfectly upright just so she'd still be resting and comfortable, he carefully helped pull back the breathing mask and held the glass to her lips with psychic encouraging her to take small sips less she start coughing again, refusing to move his hand from where it gently half held hers.
When she'd drank about half he put it down and replaced the mask as she breathed and smiled at him, her hand shifted and squeezed his properly holding it, "if you wanted to hold hands you could've asked, didn't need to burn a building down." She made a soft laugh as she squeezed his hand again, her usual cheery joking self despite what happened.
His mouth opened slightly and shut in surprise both at the fact they were now just squeezing each others hands and that was embarrassing and also the accusation though empty.
"I'll burn this whole goddamn building down,"
He chuntered unhappily before pausing and looking back at May.
"Hold on, no, you do not get to get out of this so easy by joking around, what the hell were you thinking?! You could've died?! Why didn't you teleport yourself out with everybody else!"
Admittedly his tone was a lot harsher than he'd meant it to be as May stared at him in surprise before her eyes looked away from him.
"I'm, sorry, I wasn't really, thinking about saving me, just that I couldn't let everyone else die. And even then you still got hurt," her voice was soft and guilty.
The monochrome one stared at her a bit before looking away he went to open his mouth to speak.
"Wait, where's Matt? Is he okay?! I saw his head bleeding? Did he get help?!" May tried to sit herself up and he gently but firmly pushed her back down.
"Your brother is fine he's in another room getting spoiled by some male nurses, now would you STOP thinking about everybody else and fucking think about yourself in this?! You have horrid burns, you inhaled so much smoke and you got a feverish sickness because your body was so weak and overworked! What if I hadn't found you or realized you weren't outside with us?! There's a very real chance you could've died in that fire! I could've- we. We could have lost you. And you have a lot of people who care about you. So why don't you?"
May gripped the bed sheets uncomfortably as she sat there again avoiding his gaze as his eyes softened and he frowned at her. She shrugged uncomfortably and he could see her struggling for the words and the anxiety prickling inside her. He gently squeezed her hand waiting to give her a fair chance to answer.
"....I just don't find that there's much to care about.." Her voice was riddled with guilt as she struggled, "I know, well just, I know compared to a lot of others that I'm, different." She moved her spare hand vaguely, "and, that, made it hard to connect to people, and as well I'm weak, I mean a mewtwo who can't even use her powers properly for herself, pft. Don't have much going for me overall. I know I'm, loud and optimistic and seem confident and sure but, I don't really like myself. Not really. I don't know. Maybe some horrid self pitying self obsessed part of myself believed I didn't really deserve to be saved like everyone else so that's why I wasn't teleported out too, and I guess maybe that self absorbed part of me went well look at that now we can't do anything because you used up all your strength and you're going to let yourself die because you're so pitiful and weak just to what make a point." She shrugged awkwardly, grabbing at her shoulder, "you got hurt because overall I'm a bad person, too obsessed with myself, I mean I'm a lot luckier than other people. I'm much better off than other people and yet here I am feeling sorry for myself and not liking myself. How selfish is that?" She squeezed her own shoulder to self soothe as the guilt began to creep in. "God I'm sorry, I shouldn't have dumped all that on you, here I am again being the biggest selfish, no, no I'm sorry I'm, spiralling you don't need to hear me insult myself because that just manipulates you into having to pity me and tell me it's fine and it's okay when it's not an-"
He moved the mask using his free hand to put a finger on her lips to stop her spiral rambling as he frowned at her softly.
"I don't think you're selfish, I don't think you're physically capable of being selfish, mostly because of your lack of healthy boundaries, but also because you're a good person and sharing and being kind is part of your nature. You're not a bad person for being unhappy even if you think you should be. You're more complex than just the happy May you always are with people."
He moved his finger but pointed threateningly when she opened her mouth.
"No shut up, I'm still talking. You know how I know that you're a good person even when that voice of doubt tells you you're wrong? Do you remember how we first met?"
May blinked but nodded, opening her mouth before being shushed again.
"Shut."
She smiled playfully, closing her mouth to listen.
"You came right up to me when I was lurking in the background with your drink and two brownies from the food table and you smiled at me and introduced yourself right to me, you said you were absolutely over the moon to meet and be working with me, that you'd seen my other shows upon learning we'd be coworkers and that you thought I was really talented and amazing. I know back then I just stared at you as you offered my one of the brownies you'd taken saying you got me one since I was so far away, you know why I was staring? Because you were the first person I've ever worked with to walk right up to me and introduce themselves with unfaltering kindness and warmth."
He glanced away as he spoke.
"The reason I was so far away is because a lot of the time everyone on set that I'm working with is absolutely terrified of me, which I get, it's the eyes I think. But you didn't seem afraid at all."
He looked back at her.
"You have probably brightened so many peoples' days by existing, and I know that voice probably tells you that you're different or weak or secretly evil or whatever insults and feelings you've internalized, but you bring out so much kindness to everyone no matter what."
May squeezed his hand unsure of how to even respond, mouth opening and closing as she struggled. His other hand came to hold hers squeezing her one hand with both of his.
"When you're better, I think we should look into some therapy for you because if you couldn't teleport out because a part of you believes you didn't deserve to be okay then I am really deeply concerned about that because I never want you in that situation again okay?"
May nodded softly as he squeezed her hands again softly confirming an "okay." He smiled softly at her as he gently put his forehead to her hand that he still held.
"You're a big sweetheart ya know, even if you are a horrid drink stealer" May softly spoke and he chuckled knowing she was deflecting slightly now with humor as she usually did from heavier topics but clearly speaking fondly of him.
"Hmm. Just don't go telling anybody."
"I won't." She squeezed his hands the best she could. "I think you're real great too you know, I'm glad you're in my life you do make it better." And he smiled softly to himself.

Jaune’s Vibranium Shield AU: (Dragonslayer with a hint of Harem) Rescue and Reward
During a mission Team RWBY and JNPR all where out on a mission to destroy a White Fang Base in the snowy mountains of Atlas, inside we see all the teams minus Jaune in a circle fighting off many White Fang members, meanwhile Jaune was up top fighting with Adam up top on a high platform and was winning, as the battle came to a close and Jaune held his sword up to Adams neck giving him the mercy to surrender. But with Adam he wasn’t having it, he then sneakily pressed a destination device and sent the whole base to blow, while making his escape.
Jaune saw that he couldn’t go after him because his team and Team RWBY came first, Jaune then Jumped down from the platform and landed beside his friends, they then made a run for the door while rubble and debris began to fall with explosions and sparks along with smoke around them, and headed for the emergency Cable Cart, as they arrived outside and began to start the evacuation of the mountain Ruby check the teams count and saw that there was only seven of them instead of eight…”YANG’S MISSING!” Ruby yelled with tears in her eyes.
The teams worry that she may have been left behind in the building and no one saw. Jaune looked back at the crumbling base while still standing on the cable cart platform, “I’m going back for her you guys go!” He yelled to his team and RWB(Y), everyone was shocked from what he said and began to talk him out of it and how suicidal it was for him, they offered to go back in and save her but suddenly before they could stop him, he just gave them a serious look and spoke, “guys do as your told, and no buts Mission Leaders orders” he said in a very stoic tone.
Jaune then swung his shield at the controls destroying them causing the doors to shut and the cart to go back down the mountain leaving the two remaining teams sliding back down the mountain angry and annoyed with his stubborn bravery, altho the girls (minus Nora and Ren) got a bit heated and I may say horny from his heroic tone when he sent them down the mountain by force, “I want his kittens~! 😫😳” Blake yelled as everyone just looked at her in shock leaving her also embarrassed at what she said.
Meanwhile back up the mountain Jaune was rushing through the fire and falling rubble while using his shield to protect him, he called and yelled out for Yang while searching for her, after looking for two minutes he heard her groans and moans of pain from a distance and headed towards the voice, he was met with Yang laying on the floor and her leg crushed and bleeding, he tour his hoodie and wrapped the wound up and began to carry her bridal style making Yang blush and her heart skip three times the beat.
He then handed her his Shield and told her to cover herself while he carried her through the falling and collapsing base unprotected, as he suffered some burns, cuts and hard hits from the building and only little aura to heal himself, he then managed to escape the building with Yang stool in his arms, he looked around and saw no other way to escape, he then took his shield back from Yang and then placed her on it, he laid her near the edge of a steep area of the mountain and making yang see the long way down, “Jaune Arc! Don’t! You! Dare!” Yang yelled at him, while he then looked down at her smiling sheepishly and saying only “hold on”.
He then hopped on with her and then held onto her whole they both sledded down the snowy mountain and leaving the base behind them to blow up in a large cloud of fire and Black smoke, some of the buildings debris and parts began to fall down the mountain with them all around them and impaling the mountain like arrows falling from the skies, as they avoided trees and rocks Jaune soon spots they where at the bottom but where still sliding very fast, he then sees they where gonna hit a large oak tree in front of them and soon turns the shield around and he then used his body as an airbag for Yang so she wouldn’t be more injured from the impact, and as they collided with the tree Jaune’s Aura then dropped to 15% and was still holding onto her keeping her safe.
As Yang opened her eyes she saw they where safe, her leg was hurting but she was still ok, she turned around to see Jaune with cuts and bruises and was knocked out, she cried and held him close thanking him and falling in love with him for taking so much hits just to keep her safe, she started to see him as more than a friend, Huntsman and a love, he was her superhero.
After the events of Atlas Mountain, back at Beacon late at night Jaune was in his dorm room alone polishing and repainting his shield making it as good as new while his team and Team RWBY where out eating together, suddenly he then sees in the reflection of his shield a silhouette of Yang was at the door behind him and she was dressed in some lilac purple nightly and lingerie while her leg was bandaged, she smiled at him and entered the room closing the door behind her, leaving them alone and for her to give him a really saucy reward that will last till morning~.

Jaune: It’s over you’ve lost.
Adam: “Grins”
Adam: You fool, you think it’s over don’t you?
Adam: “Chuckles”
Adam: Far from it.
Adam: “Pulls out tiny button”
Adam: I’ve been saving one last surprise.
Adam: “Presses Button”
BOOOOOOOOOM
Jaune: “Looks over to base”
Jaune: What did you do.
Adam: Simple, you all were just a diversion for the real mission.
Adam: I’m sure your friends are goners by this point.
Jaune: “Looks between Adam & base”
Jaune: Damnit.
Jaune: “Rushes down mountain”

Jaune: He got away for now, but that’s not important.
Jaune: We need to get out of here now.
Ruby: Wait.
Ruby: “Looks between friends”
Ruby: Where’s Yang?
Weiss: Don’t tell me she’s still in there.
Jaune: “Looks at crumbling base”
Jaune: I’m going back for her.
Ruby: Wait what.
Pyrrha: You can’t!

Jaune: “Flips switch“
“Cart begins to leave”
Jaune: “Throws shield at controls, destroying them”
“Doors begin to shut”
Blake: I want his kittens.
Weiss: Excuse you.
Blake: 😳😳😳
Blake: I said that out loud didn’t I.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Seekers of Soul
[Chapter 26] (29 Pages)
<< First | < Previous | Next >
The trio recuperates, and Nia discovers that her aura has changed.
TW: Panic Attack
-
Nia wakes up slowly, a heavy fog of exhaustion making her thoughts feel thick and syrupy. She’s warm and comfy, so she shifts in her bed and considers going back to sleep as she stretches her legs—only to wince when the motion pulls painfully at her skin.
Nia squints her eyes open against bright sunlight, lifting her head to blink down at her body, where bandages are wrapped around her limbs. Shiny patches of ointment with a sharp medicinal tang peek out from under the bandages and slick down her fur. Oh jeez, she really got banged up. No wonder stretching hurt.
Nia slowly shifts in her nest to get a better look around the room. It’s…pleasant. Warm, neutral tones and wooden floors. Large windows with shades pulled halfway down, leaving rectangular patches of sunlight slanting across the small space. Plants are potted around the room, offering a splash of color, and little cabinets are installed into one side of the room. She’s alone, lying in a too-large nest.
Then the door creaks open, and Nia looks over to see a familiar little ball of feathers squeezing through the gap.
“Junie!”
Junie jumps, wide eyes snapping up to Nia. “Nia! You’re awake!”
The rookidee hops awkwardly to Nia’s side, and Nia tries to sit up from her nest. She immediately regrets it, groaning from the painful pull at her burns and the ache in her ribs, not to mention the way her head spins nauseously. Her throat feels strained, and she can’t hold back a sudden coughing fit that burns her throat and lungs.
Right, the fire. She must have inhaled a lot of smoke.
“Whoa! Slow your roll, chickadee!” Junie flutters closer and guides her to back into the nest until she’s lying down again.
Nia slowly manages to control her hacking fit, but her body aches even more terribly than when she’d woken up. Ow.
“Are you okay?” Nia finally manages to croak.
Junie blinks at her. “I should be asking you that! You’re the one who’s been out the longest!”
Nia stares back at the little bird, brow furrowed as memories of the fire slowly trickle back into her mind. The building was coming down, and Junie was still trapped inside so Nia went in after her. There was so much fire, surrounding her in choking heat and ash. Then there was that debris she couldn’t move to free Junie, the wave of dizzying, wrenching despair falling over her, making her feel hopeless…
She’d been so sure they were going to die.
Nia rubs at her eyes and takes a few deep breaths. Well, clearly they made it somehow. She feels lightheaded with relief. Or maybe just lightheaded in general. Tobias would—
Tobias, running towards them through the fire, panic on his face. His gaze flicks up, and Nia follows it, her heart dropping as she sees the ceiling above them crumble—
“Tobias! Is he okay?!” Nia gasps.
“Yup!” Junie chirps. “A bit banged up, a few broken fingers, but otherwise grumpy as usual!”
Nia has to stop herself from bolting upright in her nest. “A few broken fingers?!”
Junie waves her off with a wing. “Just fractured. He says he’ll be fine in a couple days.”
Nia doesn’t point out that the charmander is probably lying to put up a tough front, instead trying to calm her pounding heartbeat. He’s alive, at least. And relatively okay. Nia catches sight of Junie’s leg, wrapped up tight in a cast and sticking out awkwardly, and her stomach sinks. She wishes they were all doing better than just ‘okay.’
The rookidee follows her gaze and laughs. “Don’t look so upset! I’d be a lot worse off if not for you!”
Nia meets Junie’s eyes, frowning. The action pulls at a burn on her face. “What do you mean?”
Junie pauses, tilting her head. “You don’t remember? I got trapped in the rubble and you refused to leave me—which was stupid, by the way—and the ceiling came down on us.”
Nia shivers, once again thinking of the wave of crushing stone bearing down on them. The overwhelming instinct to protect as she threw herself over Junie, and then—
Nothing.
“Nia?”
Nia realizes she’s not breathing, sore fingers trembling and clutching at her legs. She swallows and tries to shove away the lingering fear.
“How did we make it out of there?” Nia rasps. She knows Pokémon are durable, but she thinks even they shouldn’t have survived that much force crushing them. Junie especially, delicate, hollow-boned thing that she is.
“You saved us!” Junie chirps, hopping stiltedly in front of Nia to make eye contact.
Nia leans back. “Me?”
“Yeah! When you covered me, I saw this bright flash of blue, like fwahhh!” She spreads her wings. “I passed out after that, but Toby saw it too! We think it looked like your aura.”
“My aura?” Nia echoes, a hand drifting to her chest.
She couldn’t have done that. All she’s been able to do is channel her aura through her body and make little semi-solid forms in her hand, and she even sucks at that. She’s never been able to spread it out or project it away from her body, and she’s certainly never made it strong enough to stop something as heavy as that stone ceiling.
Junie just shrugs. “You should ask Toby. He seems to know more about it.”
“Where is Tobias?” Nia asks, looking around.
“I made him go get us some actual grub, since I’m tired of hospital food and can’t carry anything on my own. Oh, he’s going to be so mad when he sees you woke up without him!” Junie laughs, not sounding at all concerned about the charmander’s fury. “He’s been really worried!”
At that, Nia suddenly wonders if she really did die in that fire. Tobias? Worried about her? Sure, he’s made sure she didn’t get left behind in dungeons and he’s been trying hard to be patient with her, but she finds it difficult to believe he’d be openly concerned over her once she was in the clear from dying.
“Don’t look so surprised!” Junie says, somehow managing to smirk even with a beak. “It’s adorable, actually. He’s been pretty much glued to your side. Even sleeps next to you.”
Nia blinks, flustered heat rising up under her fur. Junie has to be joking. But then she casts her gaze to the side, realizing that she’s not in a single too-large nest--instead, her own nest seems to bleed into another one about the same size. Her nose is still raw from the smoke, but she can smell the familiar sun-baked stone scent of Tobias lingering on the straw.
“I knew he cared about you!” Junie chirps, hopping again to settle next to Nia’s head, looking comfortable enough that Nia guesses the rookidee has also been sleeping here.
Nia thinks again about how genuinely terrified Tobias looked in that split-second they’d made eye contact in the fire.
“Did Tobias pull us out?” Nia asks, not wanting to strain her throat but too curious not to know.
“Mhm. Dug through the rubble to find us and tried to carry us out.”
“Tried?”
Junie shifts, a note of unease in her voice. “Well...he asked me to fly, but I…I couldn’t. So he tried to carry us. But I guess he passed out? Another rescuer must’ve found us in time.”
Nia’s gut twists uncomfortably. She wishes Tobias were here so she could look him over herself, make sure that he’s really okay and not just lying to the doctors or something.
He really did all of that for them? Dug through the rubble to find them, tried to carry them to safety? Has been worrying about her, been voluntarily sleeping by her? Nia can hardly believe it. She wonders if it’s strange that she finds him risking his life to save theirs more believable than him willingly watching over her and worrying for her well-being. Probably not. The charmander’s a grump, but he takes his responsibilities as a Seeker seriously.
Nia stares thoughtfully at the nest beside her, slowly settling back down into her own. Junie resumes her chatter, saying something about them being moved to this room by themselves once Nia was stable enough. Nia hums at the appropriate times, trying to listen even though she feels fatigue creep up on her again, making her eyes heavy. She’s just so tired.
Nia doesn’t know when she crosses the line between thought and dozing, but she wakes up to the smell of delicious, savory food. Well, that and a hushed, heated conversation.
“What do you mean she woke up?!” Tobias hisses.
“She woke up! Must’ve been waiting for you to leave.” Junie teases.
The following growl, quiet and threatening, means Nia needs to wake up and play peacekeeper. She grumbles, “You two are impossible.”
The arguing stops, and Nia slowly pushes herself up onto her arms, remembering how painful it was to sit up last time. She yawns and squints at the late-afternoon sunlight pouring into the room.
Junie is grinning, and Tobias is watching her with an unreadable expression. Nia offers the two of them a smile that she hopes isn’t as strained as she feels. She doesn’t realize how tense Tobias is until he relaxes, shoulders slumping and face softening. Oh.
Maybe he really was worried.
“So what’d you bring? Something good, I hope!” Junie chirps, pecking at the boxes of food at Tobias’ side. He bares his teeth and snatches them out of her reach.
“Who says I got you anything?”
“Me! Because I’m the one who suggested it! And I almost died!”
“You’re gonna wish you did if you don’t back off,” Tobias growls.
“Oh, please, like you’d kill me in front of Nia.” Junie huffs.
“You wanna try me?”
“Do it, coward! You won’t!”
Nia laughs. She can’t help it. She’s just so relieved they’re all relatively okay, so she laughs, even if it hurts, and she can’t seem to stop laughing, leaning forward to hold her stomach. When she finally starts to get a hold of herself, she wipes tears from her eyes and sits up to see Junie and Tobias both staring at her. Oh no. Another burst of giggles bubble from her chest, and this time when she laughs, Junie joins in. Tobias doesn’t, but he does look like he’s fighting off a smile, rolling his eyes.
Nia holds out her hands and makes a grabby motion. “J-Just give me the dang food. Clearly you two can’t be trusted to share nicely.”
Tobias huffs but hands over the tasty-smelling boxes. Nia lays them out in the nest and opens them, feeling her stomach growl at the sight. Some kind of rice in one box, and vegetables in another, swimming in a deep brown sauce with chunks of something that looks startlingly like meat but must be a vegetarian version, like the hot dogs they’d had.
“Oh! Hang on! I saw the nurse restock earlier.” Junie flutters into the air, wobbling as her cast throws her off-balance, and then goes to one of the room’s cabinets, opening it and pulling at something inside with her beak.
Tobias leaps up and hurries to her side, hissing, “You’re gonna drop ‘em! Stop!”
The two wrestle over what turn out to be plates and utensils, eventually making it back to the nest without dropping them so they can each scoop some food onto their own dish. Nia digs in, practically drooling over the flavor, and watches Tobias and Junie do the same, feeling some sort of peace and normalcy wash over them. Well, as normal as they can get when Nia’s aching all over, Junie can’t seem to get settled with her broken leg, and Tobias keeps dropping his fork due to his bandaged fingers.
Between bites Nia manages to ask, “How long was I out?”
“Two weeks!” Junie chirps, whipping her rice-covered face up to give Nia a despairing, wide-eyed look.
Nia’s heart drops.
Tobias snorts and rolls his eyes. “Stop messing with her. She’s gullible enough when she isn’t injured.”
Oh. As Junie sticks her tongue out at Tobias, Nia hurriedly shovels more food into her mouth, fighting down her embarrassment for falling for that.
“The actual answer is about two days,” Tobias says.
Nia cautiously lowers her food, brow furrowing. “Two days? B-But how are we affording that?”
Tobias’ expression twists. “What?”
“The hospital,” Nia presses, waving a hand at the room around them. “We barely had enough money to come to Ghatha and back, so…”
Tobias blinks at her, looking dumbfounded. “Hospitals cost like...nothing? Especially after an emergency.”
“Oh.” Nia blinks back at him.
“Are you telling me humans charge you to get healed when you’re hurt?” Tobias asks, looking genuinely offended. “Like, enough that you were worried about it?”
Nia looks down at Junie for help, but the little bird just chirps a smug sound before returning to her food. “Don’t look at me. I wasn’t American.”
Ah. Nia didn’t really register that she was until this moment, but it makes sense from what knowledge she does know. It doesn’t really feel like a surprise.
“Where were you from, then?” Nia asks curiously, ignoring the bewildered look Tobias gives the two of them for not elaborating on the whole Hello yes pay us to save your life thing.
“Germany!” Junie chirps proudly. “Gotta say, since you’re American I’m kind of surprised you’re fluent in German.”
Nia stares at the rookidee. “I’m not. I only know English.”
Junie freezes mid-bite, then slowly turns to stare back. “…What language are you speaking right now?”
“English,” Nia repeats, voice a notch higher.
“I’m hearing you in perfect German so please tell me how that’s possible.”
“German?” Tobias speaks up.
Nia and Junie both turn to him, equally wide-eyed.
“T-Tobias,” Nia starts, swallowing hard. “What language are you speaking right now?”
The charmander looks completely thrown. “Uh. Ordirune? Like you two?”
Nia suddenly remembers her near mental breakdown that first day in the library, when she realized she was fluently reading a language she didn’t know. It makes sense that the same thing has been happening with speech.
Doesn’t mean it’s not freaking her out.
“O-Okay. Okay. Uh. I totally forgot to bring this up at the human convention. Junie, do you—?”
The rookidee has gone back to her food, burying her face in her rice. Her voice is muffled and hard to understand when she says, “I’m willing to act like nothing’s weird about this if you are.”
Nia’s curiosity is dying, but on top of everything else she’s currently grappling with, she’s not sure she can handle this world-shifting discovery at the moment. Plus, right now she doesn’t have the guild library to look to for answers, or Avery to discuss this with, and she’ll just drive herself nuts thinking about this too hard without some hope for a solution.
(But she is absolutely looking into this when they get back to Bethoc’s Haven.)
“Are you telling me you two aren’t speaking Ordirune?” Tobias asks, increasingly loud as he looks between the two of them.
“Apparently we are,” Junie teases, lifting her face. She has rice stuck to her feathers, but she seems like she’s already recovered from her shock. “Whatever that is.”
Tobias looks to Nia as if she’ll be able to solve the craziness of this situation. She gives him an apologetic shrug. “I have no clue how it works, but no, we’re not speaking...Ordirune? I don’t know what language all of the guild’s books are in, either, but for some reason I can read them just fine.”
Tobias stares at her, a frown on his face. Then he sighs, picks up his plate, and starts to eat without another word. Well, tries to. With his hands bandaged up so stiffly, the fork is back to slipping from his fingers.
Tobias growls and tries to maneuver the utensil, only managing to fling it from his lap and into the nest. He glares at where it disappeared. Nia opens her mouth, and he cuts her off with a hand jabbed in her direction. “Don’t. I don’t need help.”
Well. Nia’s jaw clicks shut as she bites back a smile. Maybe she’s getting a bit predictable with her mothering. Junie laughs.
“How did you even mangle your hands so badly?” The rookidee asks, pecking at some of her vegetables.
Tobias gives her a dry look. “Digging out your bodies.”
Both Nia and Junie still, looking again at the charmander’s hands and then back at his face. He rolls his eyes at the surprised expression on Junie’s face and the open guilt on Nia’s. “I’ll be fine in a few days. Would you rather I left you two under there?”
“Of course not, but...” Nia murmurs, knowing she still looks as upset as she feels. She didn’t know Tobias got so hurt saving them. She pushes her plate away, suddenly not so hungry.
The charmander throws up his hands, looking frustrated. “Look, d’you want Junie to get all mopey about you almost dying to save her?”
Nia reels back. “Of course not!”
“Then don’t start up the waterworks over me. I’m fine.”
Nia meets his gaze, honest as usual and not looking for an ounce of pity. She sighs. He’s right. Except now Junie just looks doubly upset, and it’s a foreign, uncomfortable expression on the chipper little bird.
“Hey, remember that I don’t regret saving you either, okay?” Nia says softly, giving Junie a smile. “Even if I got hurt. It’s our job, and you’re our friend. We chose to help.”
Junie looks down at her plate again, quiet, but nods.
Tobias snorts. “Should’ve been my job, since I’m the fire type. Idiot.”
Nia gives him a sheepish smile and searches for a change in topic. “Junie mentioned something earlier about me using my aura when the ceiling fell. I don’t remember that, but you saw it too?”
Tobias’ brow furrows, and he looks down at his plate to scoot his food around. “Yeah. When the ceiling fell there was like...a flash of blue energy.” He looks up to meet her eyes. “It looked like your aura. Exact same color. It curved around you guys like a bubble, or a shield or something.”
Nia frowns, humming a thoughtful sound. That’s so strange. Her aura certainly can’t do that.
...Right?
Nia closes her eyes and reaches for her aura, focusing on where her soul sits in her chest. What she finds is a tiny blue flame, small as a match, as if her aura has run dangerously close to vanishing entirely. Yet, it feels...different. Deeper, somehow? Like this tiny flame is just a drop of water in the ocean instead of a drop of water in a bucket. Like some sort of blockage has burst open and now she can feel...more.
Curiously, Nia pokes at it, urging it to flare back to its usual size, only for her aura (her body?) to respond with a backlash of prickling pain. She yelps, immediately pulling away from her inner self to clutch at her chest.
“Hey—don’t push yourself!” Tobias snaps. For once, he sounds more worried than angry.
Nia cracks open her eyes to see Tobias leaning close, hands poised as if to grab her. Junie is watching her with worry.
“I-I’m good. I just...I tried to call my aura, and it’s...different? I’m not sure how. A-And it looks smaller than usual? Like my energy is low or something.”
Tobias sits back, frowning. “Maybe you did use your aura, then. Is your aura finite? Can it be used up?”
“I’m not sure. Val never lets me push myself that far.” Nia wishes the medicham were here to help with this. “From what I understand it’s kind of like my life energy, but I’ve always felt sick and exhausted way before it got to this point.”
Tobias stares at her, clearly deep in thought. “Maybe your body usually protects you from using too much at one time because it’s dangerous to you.”
“But when I was backed into a corner and it was life-or-death,” Nia continues, catching on. “It lashed out full-power to keep me safe?”
“Desperate times call for desperate measures,” Tobias says with a shrug. “You have been sleeping for two days straight. The doctor thought you just overworked yourself, but maybe your fatigue is actually from aura backlash.”
Nia nods, slowly. “I-I guess that makes sense.”
Tobias doesn’t look satisfied. “The only other thing I can think of is a move called protect. It can form a wall or bubble like that, and stop almost any move for a brief period of time. That would explain how you kept tons of rock and debris from flattening you two, but I don’t think riolu are even able to learn it naturally.”
Nia pauses, the description niggling at her memory. A move called protect? A ball of blue energy, surrounding her, defending against fire and force...where has she heard of that before?
“What do you mean we can’t learn it ‘naturally?’” Nia asks instead.
“Some Pokemon don’t just learn moves spontaneously, like I did with dragon rage,” Tobias explains. “Not every Pokemon can learn every move, but sometimes they can be taught by another Pokemon instead. We call those moves TMs—trained moves.”
Nia tilts her head as she listens, intrigued. “So I could learn certain moves,” She starts, slowly. “But I’d need another Pokemon who already knows them to teach me? And protect is one of those moves?”
“I think so,” Tobias says, face twisting in thought. “Usually Pokemon can only learn protect naturally if they have like…a shell or something. I’ve never heard of a fighting type like a riolu just learning it on their own. That’s why this all feels so weird.”
Nia looks down at her paws, clenching them in her lap. It makes more sense for her to have used her aura if she shouldn’t be able to use protect. And yet, the word is sparking some kind of memory. She thinks again of Tobias’ description—a blue bubble of energy, shielding her from destruction. From the fire.
All at once she thinks of Will, smiling at her warmly, and then a line of yamask in a row, the smell of books and a picture of a Pokémon—a pikachu, she realizes now—flashes through her mind. Her breath catches as she straightens in her seat. Wait, that’s it!
“I read a book when I first came here,” Nia breathes, desperately trying to recall that collection of fairy tales and what it said about humans. “It mentioned that move! Protect! I think it said something about all humans being able to learn it, regardless of their species. It’s one of the few consistent things in our situation.”
Tobias doesn’t look as excited like she thought he might. If anything, he looks more conflicted, crossing his arms. “But that’s just…unheard of. And if it’s true then that means it wasn’t your aura, but I swear it looked exactly like it. And with your aura levels being so low it makes sense for there to be a connection.”
Nia makes a frustrated sound in her throat. “Maybe Val can help us figure it out when we get back home? It seems like we’re getting cues from both sides. If we could recreate it—“
“No,” Tobias meets her eyes with a sharp look. “Not until you’re back to full strength.”
Nia feels a warmth in her chest at his open concern, and she holds up her hands with a laugh. “I know, I know! Trust me, I don’t really feel like passing out again for two days.”
Tobias nods, satisfied, and opens his mouth to say something else when there’s a quiet knock at the door. They all turn, and Nia expects a nurse or doctor to step in for a check-up.
Instead, she’s shocked to see Will poke his head into the room with a concerned look. When he catches sight of their group he lights up, red eyes shining. “Oh, thank goodness.”
“Great,” Tobias grumbles, already glaring daggers as the yamask floats in and closes the door behind him.
Nia bumps her partner’s leg with her own. “Be nice.” Then, louder, “Will! It’s good to see you again.”
“I wish it could be under better circumstances,” Will says as he floats to their side, a regretful smile at his lips. His thumbs rub at the edge of the golden mask he carries. “I’ve been wanting to come check on everyone who was caught up in the fire.”
“Then why’d it take you two days to do it?” Tobias growls. Nia bumps his leg again, a bit harder. “Keegan was here the morning after.”
Will winces and looks away, gaze drifting to the window. “Ah, I’m afraid I’ve been a bit busy helping with the investigation.”
“You’re part of it?” Tobias asks, voice thick with suspicion.
“Investigation?” Nia asks, tilting her head first at Will, then Tobias. “What investigation?”
Will rubs his face, looking ten times older than he had at the conference when he was all charm and charisma. “Keegan suspects foul play in regards to how the fire began, so we want to thoroughly explore all possibilities before laying the blame on Hugo’s troupe. There weren’t any casualties in the fire, thank God, but there were a lot of serious injuries and, ah…property damage.”
Nia blinks at the explanation, still trying to play catch-up. Foul play?
“Whoa! Are you like secretly a detective?!” Junie asks, fluttering closer.
Will finally cracks a smile, shaking his head. “No, no, nothing like that.”
Tobias folds his arms. “Then why are you part of the investigation? Last I heard you aren’t a pyrotechnics expert.”
“Tobias,” Nia protests halfheartedly. She knows he doesn’t like the guy but he doesn’t have to be so openly hostile.
“No no, it’s quite all right, Nia,” Will soothes, giving first her and then Tobias another rueful smile. “We are investigating for any possible tampering, so it’s good to be suspicious at this stage.”
“Tampering,” Nia echoes. “What do you mean?”
Junie shifts a bit closer to Nia, something almost…uncomfortable in her expression. Wary? Tobias narrows his eyes at the yamask.
Will opens his mouth to speak, then hesitates, gaze moving over the three of them. Nia notices how he lingers on her burns, on Tobias’ bandaged fingers and Junie’s broken leg. His face tightens with something like resolution. “I know two of you already know about this, but I still want to ask that you don’t spread word of this needlessly. It’s only a working theory at the moment and could cause unnecessary panic if word spreads.”
Nia blinks, alarmed, and welcomes it when Junie clumsily flutters into her lap. She holds the bird close. “U-Uh…sure?”
Will sighs, looking down at his mask. “Keegan was suspicious from the start that the fire was not an accident, taking the troupe’s reputation and precautions into account. While we aren’t sure of anything yet, the Pokémon looking into it are leaning towards the idea of foul play. We suspect the fire was set intentionally.”
“Why would someone do that?” Nia asks, horrified. She vaguely remembers hearing about crimes of arson in the human world, but never dreamed of something so mindlessly destructive happening here in the Pokémon world.
“And again, why are you so closely involved with the investigation?” Tobias asks, gaze sharp.
Will’s expression tightens. “I was not only the one who put this event together, but I was also uninjured, unlike most folks who were around at the time. They wanted to make sure I didn’t see anyone suspicious.”
Nia’s surprised that Tobias doesn’t say anything to that, and glances over at him. He’s not quite looking at the yamask, anymore, instead staring through him into space. He looks like he’s thinking hard about something.
“Well, did ya?” Junie asks Will, feathers fluffed up in agitation. “See anyone suspicious, that is!”
Will glances at Tobias, looking uncomfortable. “Well, I don’t want to throw around accusations…”
“Just spit it out,” Tobias snaps, suddenly sounding much more on-edge.
Nia almost scolds him again, but cuts herself off when she looks at him. He’s tense, spine ramrod straight like he’s about to bolt to his feet and fight. His eyes are wide and a bit wild. His tail flame is bright.
Will sighs. “Well…I did notice a particularly powerful-looking arcanine lurking about on his own who I don’t remember seeing earlier in the day. Which could mean nothing, of course! There were plenty of powerful fire types there that day. But I thought I should mention it to the investigators, so I think he’s currently their prime suspect.”
Nia stops listening halfway through Will’s explanation. She’s too busy looking at Tobias in concern. The charmander’s breath had caught at the mention of the Pokémon—an arcanine. Surely that couldn’t be the same arcanine that they’ve been looking for, right? The outlaw?
But Tobias must be thinking the same thing, because he’s clearly somewhere else, wide eyes staring sightlessly at the floor, breaths growing harsher by the second, fingers curling into shaking fists—
Nia hurries to grab the charmander’s damaged hands and uncurl his mangled fingers before he can hurt himself. He jerks out of her hold, gaze flicking up to her but seeing nothing, looking right through her. His body is tense and trembling, like his fight response has abruptly switched over to flight and he might run off at any second in a panic.
Distantly Nia notes that Will has stopped speaking and Junie has fluttered out of Nia’s lap to chirp something over Nia’s shoulder, but she shushes the chatty little bird and focuses on her partner. Tobias is whispering something, and she leans forward to hear, straining her sharp ears.
“He was there. He was there, I saw him, he was in the fire, I didn’t remember but he was there he—”
Nia frowns, more than a little unsettled by the charmander’s weak voice and frantic words. She wants to dissect them more, think on them, ask him what exactly he means (he wouldn’t just believe Will that easily, surely? But he mentioned remembering—did he see the arcanine and block it out?)
Whatever happened, right now it looks like he’s...dissociating? She thinks that’s the word. Or maybe on the edge of a panic attack. She’s not sure. Didn’t he have a panic attack at the guild? When he saw the post about the outlaws and decided to create a Seeker team.
Someone says something and Tobias flinches, and Nia shoves all of her thoughts aside for now. The most important thing right now is to help Tobias, even if she doesn’t know how to do that and can feel anxiety tightening in her gut. Should she touch him? That didn’t go so well when she grabbed his hands, but—
“T-Tobias?” Nia tries. Nothing. No recognition, no sign that he even heard her. Hesitantly, she lifts her hands to his face, trying to get him to look at her. “Tobias?”
Tobias tenses up further at the slight brush of her palms, but doesn’t jerk away this time. Okay, okay, what does she do now? Try his name again? Distract him? Talk to him? Oh God, she has no idea how to help him and his breathing has gone shaky and harsh, almost wheezing, like he can’t catch his breath—
“Nia, if you can get his attention, you can lead him through a breathing exercise. He needs to calm down or he’ll pass out.”
Will has lowered himself next to her, brow pinched and gaze focused on her partner’s stricken face, and her first instinct is to tell him to leave, to hide Tobias away when he’s this vulnerable, but the ghost type sounds so calm and confident. Like he knows what he’s doing. Nia clings to that strength.
“H-How can I get his attention?” She squeaks, trying not to panic right alongside Tobias.
Will frowns, glancing over his shoulder at the sunlit room. “Get closer, narrow his vision. You don’t happen to know any ice types on staff, do you? If we had some ice we could put that in his hand to snap him out of it.”
“I-I can get ice!” Nia hears Junie chirp, and then the flutter of wings.
Tobias is still breathing harsh, eyes flicking back and forth and seeing something Nia cannot. He’s shaking almost violently beneath her touch, and she hates it. Hates that he’s so terrified and trapped in some horrible memory where she can’t reach him.
A little desperate, Nia leans forward, right in his face, and tries to get his attention, tries to shut out the world. He’s almost too close to see, but she catches his flickering gaze. “Tobias. Tobias, please, you have to calm down. C-Can you calm down and breathe? Tobias? Toby?”
Nia’s not sure what prompts her to use the nickname Junie forced upon him just a few days ago, but as soon as she says it, blue eyes snap to hers. Not quite seeing her, but paying some sort of attention. He heard her.
She can’t decide whether to laugh or cry, so she just gives him a shaky grin. “G-Good! Good, okay. Toby, can you hear me? Can you nod if you can?”
A heartbeat passes, and then a jerky half-nod that almost bumps their noses together. She laughs, and thinks that his eyes focus on her a bit more. “Great! Okay, u-um, uh—“
“Keep asking him questions. Keep him here.”
“R-Right, okay, Toby—Toby? Hey, look at me. Good! Okay, how about, uh...”
“Ask him to list something. Colors, sounds—“
“What colors do you see?” Nia asks, latching onto Will’s helpful directions.
Tobias’ eyes focus on hers again. “R-Red.”
“Good! What else?”
His gaze flicks to the left ever so slightly. “B...Black? And blue.”
“Anything else?”
His gaze moves down to where Nia knows there’s a burn on her cheek. “Pink.”
Nia doesn’t even know if that one’s right, but she grins anyways. “Awesome! O-Okay, uh—“
“Have him do a breathing exercise before he faints. 5-6-7. Five seconds in, hold for six, release for seven.”
“Tobias, can you breathe in for me?” Nia asks. “Deep breath!”
The charmander tries, she can tell he does, but he only manages a short, shaky inhale before releasing it and gasping in another.
Nia’s stomach drops. “O-Okay, that’s okay, just try again. Deep breath.”
She takes a breath, sees him try to match her before letting it out far too early. Is that bad? She doesn’t know. She doesn’t know what she’s doing!
Tobias must pick up on her own panic, because his breathing stutters into another gasp. No no no, she’s supposed to be helping, not making him worse!
She just wants to help!
A lance of of pain shoots through Nia’s chest, and she squeezes her eyes shut with a whine, automatically following the pain to her raw, exhausted aura. Except the little blue flame is no longer a weak, still thing in her chest. Instead, it’s thrashing and flaring with her emotions, seeming to grow larger by the second, like it’s being fed by her panic. But this hasn’t ever happened before!
Nia tries to figure out where the building energy is coming from, realizing all at once that she hadn’t been imagining the feeling earlier of having access to more. It’s like the well of her aura has suddenly gotten deeper, filled with more energy than before, and now it’s overflowing and feeding that fire in her chest, stoking it into something more sensitive to her emotions.
That only makes her panic more, and the tiny blue flame of her soul grows and grows and grows until it’s too much to be contained. It rushes outward, throughout her body, to her legs and tail and arms, and she rips herself away from Tobias with a yelp. What is her aura doing?!
Tobias flinches and makes a small, desperate noise in the back of his throat. Nia wants to reach out again, but she can’t touch him, not like this. Not with her aura flaring like a blue inferno and reaching towards Tobias with an almost fierce protectiveness.
Will shoots her a worried glance before taking her place in front of Tobias. She hears him say something in a low, soothing murmur.
Nia’s aura has never done anything like this before, never felt like it was fighting back against her. If anything, her aura has always been too unresponsive, slow to follow her orders and too weak to do anything but brush at others’ energy through her skin.
She’d prefer that weakness over this raging thing. It doesn’t feel much more powerful than it was before, just...unfiltered. Unrestrained.
And she has no idea how to control it.
For once, she feels dangerous. Like a bomb waiting to go off, too much power building in a body too small to contain it.
“Nia!”
Nia’s eyes snap open, and there’s Junie, in front of her face. The little bird rears back, staring at her eyes with a surprised expression.
“Are you okay?” The rookidee asks, gaze flicking to the side of Nia’s face and then back again. “You’re, uh, glowing.”
Nia looks down to see that she is in fact glowing, body outlined in the blue of her aura and brighter than it’s ever been before. She’s not even trying to do that.
Junie glances down at Nia’s hands, surprise souring to dismay. “You’re shaking!”
“My aura,” Nia grits out, shutting her eyes again to look at it. The energy is still larger than usual, but it almost looks like it’s...calming, slightly. Swirling anxiously, but without the sharp edges of panic.
“C-Can I help?”
Nia shakes her head, watching her aura like it’s a snarling dog about to snap at her fingers. But despite her fear and confusion, the energy only continues to calm as the seconds pass. Nia can finally hear Will again, counting and breathing with Tobias. She doesn’t realize she’s following along until her aura finally stills, settling in her chest. It’s calm again, larger than it’s ever been but manageable. A lion calmed from its frenzy to purr contentedly at her side.
Nia cracks opens her eyes. Junie is looking between Nia and Will.
“Back with us, Tobias?” The yamask asks.
Tobias! Nia takes another moment to check on her aura, confirm that it’s under control, and then she scoots over to Will’s side. The charmander blinks sluggishly, but his gaze flicks to her. “Nia?”
Wow, he sounds out of it. Nia’s chest aches, with emotion this time instead of her aura. “Y-Yeah, Toby—Tobias. How’re you feeling?”
Tobias doesn’t even respond to her slip-up, pressing his palms into his eyes and groaning. “Like I got trampled by a rhyperior.”
Will gives him a sympathetic smile before turning to Nia. “And you?”
Nia winces. Tobias was the one who had a panic attack; they should be focusing on him, not her. “F-Fine. I don’t know what happened. My aura just went crazy.”
Will’s gaze moves between her and Tobias, thoughtful. “Aura can sense emotions, correct? Perhaps some of Tobias’ fear bled into your own emotional state.”
Nia frowns, wracking her brain for what Val had told her she would eventually be able to do with her aura. She can kind of read people’s emotions when she’s purposefully looking at their aura, sure. And she does sort of...feel them for herself, too? But never like this, unintentionally and without touch.
“But I wasn’t looking at his aura. I wasn’t even touching—“ Nia stops, catching herself. She was touching him, wasn’t she? Cupping his face. She wasn’t touching his aura or using hers, but...
Tobias doesn’t react, eyes lidded with exhaustion.
“Maybe the emotion was strong enough for you to pick it up regardless?” Will suggests, hand at his chin. “You are partners, after all—it would make sense for you to be more in tune with one another.”
Nia looks at Tobias again, waiting for his usual vehement protests to any implication that they’re anything even close to friends.
The charmander just shrugs, drained of his usual fight. “Sorry, I guess.”
It’s somehow flippant and genuine all at once. Nia blinks. “I-It’s not like you did it on purpose.”
Tobias doesn’t answer. Instead, he just rubs at his eyes and grumbles, “Whatever. I wanna sleep. Either talk quieter or get out, Will.”
Nia can’t manage to scold him right now, not when the charmander looks so utterly exhausted. She remembers he was the same after the panic attack at the guild, too. So instead, Nia just gives Will an apologetic smile. “Sorry. Panic attacks wipe him out.”
“Still here,” Tobias growls, shooting her a weak glare. There’s her prickly partner!
“It’s quite all right. I should be heading to other rooms anyways.” Will smiles apologetically at them yet again. “I’m sorry for interrupting your rest, and for...well, potentially triggering your panic attack, Tobias. Was it the, ah…the specific Pokemon I mentioned?”
Tobias winces again, eyes squeezing shut
“Yeah,” Nia murmurs for him.
“Then apologies for that as well,” Will says, looking remorseful. “Before I go—will you all be in Ghatha for a bit while you recover?”
Oh. Nia doesn’t actually know. They’d planned on staying after the Human Convention anyways, to investigate the outlaw trio, and sitting on Fliss’ back for hours on end with the wind tearing at her wounds sounds awful right now. But just in case, she looks to Tobias.
The charmander glances at her, gaze flicking down over her burns. “Nia’ll need a few days to rest.”
“Your hands need to heal too,” She reminds him, gently.
Tobias looks back at Will. “And I want to stick around and look for that…” He stumbles, takes a deep breath, and his voice only shakes a bit when he continues. “That arcanine. If he really did set the fire, he needs to be brought in.”
Nia frowns. She knows the explanation is mostly a cover for his true animosity towards the arcanine, but this whole debacle couldn’t have helped lessen his desire for revenge. He’s gotta be even more angry than before, if that’s possible.
Well, they’re partially here in Ghatha to hunt down leads on the outlaw trio, anyways, and this might be a big one, so it makes sense for them to stay until that’s resolved. They’ll have to send a letter to Maggie and August to let them know.
Nia cringes. Maggie is going to give them an earful for this one.
“I’ll stick around for a bit, too,” Junie chirps, “Can’t do much flying with a cast on my leg. ‘Sides, Toby’s gonna need an extra hand.”
“You don’t even have hands!”
Before Tobias can really get going, Nia interrupts, “We weren’t planning on staying longer than a couple of days, but Tobias mentioned us being able to take on honorary guild work to make money and explore the area. So I guess we’ll plan on doing that once we’re well enough to leave the hospital?”
Will nods. “That sounds like a fine plan. Keegan has been a wonderful help, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the guild here in town, so I’m sure you’ll have no issue signing up for missions.”
“Then I guess we’ll probably see you around,” Nia say, giving the yamask a tired smile.
Will smiles back. “Indeed. And I’ll be sure to let you all know once I hear anything new about the investigation.”
Tobias nods. “Good. Keep us in the loop.”
“Of course.” Will bows to them again and floats towards the door. “I’ll let you all rest. Have a good night.”
Nia and Junie wave as the ghost type leaves the room. Tobias just shuffles over to his nest and flops down, curling up and making himself comfortable.
“You know it’s only mid-afternoon, right?” Junie asks, fluttering over to Tobias’ side.
“You know you could shut up, right?” Tobias growls, turning away.
Junie chirps a laugh and turns back to Nia. “Ball of sunshine, this one.”
Nia bites back a laugh, watching as Tobias slowly melts into his nest, probably enjoying the warmth and sunshine pouring into the room. Nia definitely doesn’t want to disturb him, but she feels sort of restless, despite her wounds. It’s probably the worry about everything Will told them. And Tobias’ panic attack. And her aura suddenly freaking out.
Cautiously, she prods again at her aura, but it’s still calm, burning bright in her chest. Huh. Maybe after resting up and healing from her injuries it’ll act normal again? It seems fine now.
“I think I’m gonna take a little walk around the hospital,” Nia announces quietly, looking at Junie. “Wanna come?”
“Sure!”
The two of them head towards the door, Nia at a slow pace that pulls less at her burns and wounds. They probably shouldn’t be walking around without a doctor’s permission, but they won’t go far or anything, just take a look around the halls.
Before they close the door, Nia’s gaze catches on Tobias again, already sound asleep. He seems like he bounced back all right from his panic attack, but she still worries. What if they do find something solid about the arcanine in their own investigating? What if they find the arcanine himself? If he really was at the fire, then it’s suddenly a very real possibility. Just the unexpected mention of the Pokémon was enough to send Tobias spiraling again.
And that same Pokemon may be responsible for the fire. For all three of them almost dying.
It’s...a lot. And a lot to be scared of. Why would the rogue even set the fire in the first place? What should they even do if they find a real lead? Nia isn’t eager to face any fire type in combat any time soon, let alone such a powerful outlaw. They wouldn’t stand a chance if they fought him.
Nia shivers, taking a deep breath as she shuts the door and follows Junie’s short, careful hops out into the hallway. She needs to stop thinking for now, and try to relax while she can. She won’t be able to do much of anything for a day or two anyways, so until then her and Tobias will just have to wait and heal and keep an ear out for any news from Will or Keegan. Then they’ll decide what to do next.
“Let’s look around and find something cool to sneak back to our room!” Junie chirps conspiratorially, glancing down the hallway with a glint in her eyes. Nia has the distinct feeling that the little bird was the kind of human to hijack a wheelchair and go flying down hospital ramps in their old world.
Nia shakes her head, smiling. At least their recovery won’t be boring.

Bucky Barnes was immortal. He didn't know this. No one knew this, not even the god he prayed to. All that is known by the gods is that he should've prayed more for mercy, as love is just as sharp as the jab of a knife. Bucky's death will bleed onto his lover.
No one knew how easy people like Sam Wilson were. They die faster, Bucky thinks, because they live recklessly, hiding from death's swinging ax. Benevolent, maybe even cunning. They faked death twice and fucked them into a sweat.
Maybe that's why it's harder to withstand the fall. The Reichenbach Fall, waterfall, the romantic fall, the wall, the wall— the fall, the fall—
When Bucky looked into the mirror of his bathroom, he saw himself. Lines beneath his eyes like the separations of each of earth's layers, eye bags gone but faint and blended into his complexion. His nose is crooked from battles but the scar on his lip tip is still there and it doesn't itch much anymore. His eyes were still a faint blue, the black parts hazy with age. His hair, though, hasn't changed.
He doesn't look much like a human, more of a wax figurine left on a shelf for a certain amount of time.
His hand reaches for a razor and he shaves his entire beard and mustache. He's looking quite younger but still like a figurine.
You know, he's noticed a bunch of times, but for someone out of their own original timeline, he sure does fit well with Sam Wilson.
In fixing the boat, taking long dinners outside in the backyard, watching classic movies until night turns into day. They stay close to each other, like the end of feathers sinking into a bird's skin. Painful to remove, the burden of it all. When Bucky places his hand in Sam's, the hand feels too solid.
Maybe it's the nerves. Bucky hopes it's the nerves.
They go well together, like leaves and flowers. They have their own lives but they fit into each other's existence as if deities were to fold in the nature of existence into their hand. As if it was meant to be. No one can say otherwise. Even atheists can believe.
Now, Bucky doesn't believe in saints but he prays either way. He wishes in between whispers that Sam Wilson may outlive him because god the pressure of his death will kill him either way. It's like that fucking Winnie the Pooh quote with the hundred and one days because living without someone is the worst torture Bucky could ever think above HYDRA.
He's lost so much. He doesn't want to lose more.
Grief runs down like a river for him. Bucky doesn’t want Sam drowning in that path.
“What are we then?” Sam asked as Bucky held his hand, a smile so cute and warm it’s like baby sunflowers on a sunny day.
Bucky smiled, shrugging. “I’d like to be with you forever if you’d like that you.”
Sam does, the man says. And Bucky believed that this is heaven on earth.
Yes, Bucky wants Sam to outlive him. To fuck death into the unliving, to rule the underworld and free every single soul, to love the man until the moment between daybreak and nightfall. In moments unheard, Bucky wants Sam to outlive life itself, the universe itself, atoms itself. Maybe that’s why it hurts so much, to hear a mission gone wrong, to not be there to have his back covered.
Bucky’s one hour away and he just heard that Sam went on a mission in the Bronx without back-up, some spiderman shit, he doesn’t care. He steals the nearest motorbike and almost bullets through traffic and the roads just to reach the man in time before anything bad might happen.
He feels his chest tighten as he sped through three red lights. There’s something in him that can’t help but not trust Sam’s idiotic ass, and why wouldn’t anyone? The man would rush into hell like Orpheus if it means Euridyce can live. He’s sacrificial like that, forgets his fear of death and guilt of hundreds if it could save one more. And Bucky smiles as he sees the debris in front of him. I love him despite all that, he thinks. He wants to kiss Sam silly now.
He throws the bike and rolls off and into the road like a madman. He’s running through the debris and collapsed buildings to find Sam. He ignores the calls, Sergeant Barnes! Barnes! No, at this moment, he’s not Bucky Barnes. At this moment, he is called by Sam Wilson’s name. His name is a man who he loves.
He geos under a leaking pipe, then over a boulder of brick, then through a puddle of what seems to be gasoline. Then he hears the faint vibrations of the shield. He runs carefully now, yelling, Wilson! Wilson, Wilson… It echoes through the chamber. The road slopes downward, and he slips, slides downward with elegance and precision. He lands on both his feet, then starts running.
Some madman villain is responsible for this mess, and Bucky wouldn’t let it worsen.
He reaches Sam who seems to be tired from battling with the madman. He swings one last time and hits the man directly at the head, successfully knocking the man unconscious.
Bucky runs one last time, into Sam’s arms, and they topple down to the floor and rubble. I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, he whispers into Sam’s neck. Their legs tangle into each other and they’re buried into each other’s necks. Bucky trailer kisses down Sam’s cheek and neck, tears almost forming in his eyes.
He feels something warm on Sam’s stomach.
Buckyslowly and carefully leans away from Sam, hovering over the man. Sam says, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. On his stomach is a gaping hole, deep and oozing of blood into his white uniform. Sam is crying, his chest heavy with the burden of the world and his breathing is shallow. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.
Bucky became tight-lipped, then smiled. “You’re here. It’s okay.” he whispered. He activates Sam’s homing signal on his utility belt in a hurry. “You really do bury me, don’t you Barnes?”
“Yes, Wilson,” Sam laughs weakly.
Bucky wishes Sam to outlive him, for reasons like this.

Todoroki Shoto
Shoto lost you a flew hours ago and couldn’t find you. One of the villains blow up the whole building. Everywhere he looked, he just saw debris and blood. There was so much smoke and noise. Most of the villains were captured or flew. The last time Shoto saw you, you were running towards a Nomu. He prayed to god or whoever would hear him, that it wasn’t you under the ruins. But he could recognize your hair anyway.
You were laying there. Hardly breathing but still ready to fight someone. Your left body half was buried under the collapsed ceiling and you could barely see anything because of the dust. But you could see someone coming towards you. Another villain? You tried to rise your right arm, but as soon as you saw Shoto something clicked in you and you smiled softly.
You already knew that you wouldn’t survive this and maybe god had enough mercy with you to let you die in his arms.
,,Y/N!“, he screamed as he saw you body. He dropped on his knees in front of you and took your hand.
,,Shoto.“ your voice wasn’t louder than a whisper but you were so glad that he was there. That you wouldn’t have too do this alone. Tears started rolling down your dirty cheeks. You held his hand as thigh as you could and you wanted to kiss him. Just one last kiss. Please, god! One last kiss!
Shoto couldn’t believe it. He refused to believe that you were dying, because it couldn’t happen. Not you and not now! He had lost so much and you had promised to stay with him. Shoto startet yelling for help or a medic. They could save you. You would survive this day. But he became silent as you squeezed his hand.
You looked up to him with tears in your eyes and blood in your mouth. This sight was truly terrifying. ,,Everything will be fine. You’ll be fine. They’ll help you an-“,,Shoto,“you interrupted his mumble with your weak voice and a sad smile. You wanted to hug and comfort him. It broke your heart to see him like this. You have never seen him cry like this. Shoto finally accepted it and something inside of him died too. This will be his mercy. That he died before he had too watch you die.
,,I’m sorry. I’m so sorry! I love you. I love you, y/n.“
You tried to smile and tell him that you love him too, but you’ve been to long unter these ruins. You wanted to tell him that you love him. That it isn’t his fault. That you’ll never leave him and that you are proud of him. But there was still something you were begging for. The last goodbye. The last ,,I love you“. Your last ,,I’m sorry.“
,,Kiss...me,“ you weren’t sure if he heard it or if you even said it out loud, because death finally wrapped its claws around your neck. One more second! You begged as the darkness took your eyes and ears, dragging you into the never ending void. But then you could feel it. His beautiful soft lips.
Shoto held your face in his hands and pressed his forehead against yours, as more tears started too roll down his cheeks.
This wasn’t a kiss between Shoto and you. It was a kiss between life and death and as death touched his lips he took his soul with him too.

Bakugou Katsuki
A group of villains attacked the school that morning and everyone got ready to fight. Katsuki hasn’t left your side since then. You were fighting side by side for hours and looking out for each other. No one had a chance against you.
Every once in a while Bakugou allowed himself to glance at you, too make sure you are still fine. ,,Hey, Dumbass! You alright?!“ he turned to your direction, but you weren’t there. Pure panic took over his body when he couldn’t see you anywhere.
,,Y/N!“ There you were. Laying on the dirty floor with blood coming out your stomach. You couldn’t get up alone without collapsing.
,,Katsuki!“ you cried out of relief. You have been trying to scream for help but no one heard you. You don’t want to die. Who knows what comes afterwards? You want to stay with Katsuki and live a great life.
Bakugou fell on his knees as he saw the blood. So much blood. His fear paralyzed him and tears came up. But as he looked into your eyes and saw the fear he knew that he had to stay calm. ,,C...Can you stand up? We have to get you out of here.“ his voice was shaking just like his hands.
You nodded and he helped you get up. Katsuki was basically carrying you, while you held your wound, trying to stop the bleeding. You were trying to get away from the fighting, but you were way to slow. Bakugou didn’t know what to do, so he did what he always did. He was so angry.
,,You dumbass. I told you to be careful. I’ll kill them all! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!“ he started screaming but even his anger couldn’t last long.
,,Please, don’t be angry. You’re always so angry,“ you whisper trying to hold on and keep walking but your leg just give in. You have lost too much blood. Your body feels so cold and the fear is common back.
,,Come on, Dumbass.“, Katsuki tries to pick you up again, but you refuse. There is no way that you could find help and even if you did, it was way to late. Your were holding your organs with your hand back.
,,Katsuki...I’m scared. I don’t wanna die.“ you held his hand and looked up too him. Tears running down your face and Bakugou‘s heart broke into millions of pieces. He was quiet now, because he knew he had to comfort you.
He put your head on his lap and slowly brushed your dirty hair away from your face. ,,It’s gonna be fine. I’m here. Nothing bad‘s gonna happen to you. We’ll find help, don’t worry.“ he tried to stay calm but his voice was shaking and tears were streaming down his face.
,,Don’t leave me,“ you cried and hold him as tight as you could. You couldn’t feel any pain anymore and you knew your time was up. Everything was quiet and all you could see was Katsuki‘s face. He seemed so sad and angry. You know that he’d blaim himself. ,,Don’t be angry.“
Bakugou had his eyes closed, too scared what he’d see if he opened them. So he was sitting there. Tears running down his cheeks and your dead body in his lap. He could look at you but he could scream. Bakugou screamed louder than ever before and he didn’t care if villains would find him. You were death, why should he keep fighting.
He stayed in this position until Aizawa found him. He had to drag him away from you and when he finally gave up he hold onto Aizawa. He couldn’t stop crying.

PART 2 | previously: part 1 | masterlist
pairing: Katsuki Bakugou x fem! reader
ratings/warnings: swearing, violence, mention of blood
synopsis: When UA’s hot heads, Katsuki Bakugou and you, are forced to put your hatred for each other aside and plan the third year Prom, things end up getting a little heated...
a/n: hi hi❤️ i hope you all are doing well! this part is more fight scene style so it was a little harder to write since im not used to writing fight scenes but i hope it turned out okay :) taglist is open so just lmk if you’d like to be added :)) enjoy xx
two: a good team
You stared at the projection, hoping that it was just a figment of your imagination and that your name wasn’t actually next to Bakugou’s.
“Uh Mr. Aizawa, don’t you think Y/N and Bakugou should be split up? They might blow up the whole training course,” said Denki.
“I agree with Charge Bolt over here. I would respectfully like to request a partner change,” you smiled, raising your hand.
“I’d rather go with Deku than you…” muttered Bakugou.
“Ouch Kacchan.”
“Teams are final, no one is switching,” said Aizawa firmly, “besides, you two need to learn how to work with each other eventually.”
You rolled your eyes and let out a frustrated sigh.
“Great…”
“The villain team can go and head inside. You’ll have 5 minutes until the heroes go inside,” explained Aizawa. Deku and Todoroki ran inside the training ground as you and Bakugou waited on the other side.
“You better not get in my way,” Bakugou muttered.
“We need a plan idiot. If Todoroki freezes us we’ll be screwed,” you said.
“Fine. I’ll take out Deku and Icyhot and you grab the hostage.”
“That is not at all what I was talking about. Remember we have to immobilize them before grabbing the hostage. No way you could take out both of them at the same time.”
“HUH? You’re doubting me?”
“I’m being realistic. As much as I’d rather be kicking your ass right now, we have to work together on this.”
Bakugou sighed.
Finally, the buzzer rang, allowing you and Bakugou entrance into the training ground. This being newly constructed, you had no idea what to expect.
“What the…” your voice trailed off as you looked around the facility. There were multiple small buildings, simulating a city setting. In the middle of it all there was a building bigger than the rest. At the very top, there hung the ‘hostage’ tied up over the edge. You could see another person up there, but couldn’t tell who it is.
“Okay listen, whoever is up there with the hostage is probably Deku, because he’s better with one on one fights. I’m assuming Todoroki is hidden in the lower levels of the building to stop us from getting up to the roof. He'll probably do a surprise ice attack and freeze our feet,” you explained.
You looked over at Bakugou, who was just staring up at the building.
“Hey explosion boy, did you listen to anything I just said?” You asked, poking his arm.
“I’ll fly up, take the hostage, then deal with Deku. You have fun with Icyhot,” he said, beginning to fire up his hands. You shook your head.
“Oh my god do you ever listen? Fine go,” you huffed.
Bakugou didn’t hesitate a second to start blasting his explosions to carry himself up.
Once he was in the air, you began to run towards the lower level of the building. You quieted your feet as you got closer to the opened door. You decided to create a small explosion, just big enough to detect whether or not Shoto was hidden as you suspected. You began to generate heat waves and nitrogen atoms, pressing your hands together to create fusion. Once the atoms were fused together, you threw it inside.
*BOOM*
Perfect. Once you heard that sweet sound you creeped inside. Your mini explosion blew a large hole in the walls that surrounded you. You felt the air get colder, signaling that Shoto was most likely near. Being against someone with a colder quirk was definitely a conflict for you. You tried to follow the colder air, as your suit warned you of your body heat lowering.
“Of course it had to be ice…” you mumbled.
“Ice isn’t all bad,” a voice said. You jumped and saw Todoroki emerge from the leftover smoke of your explosion.
“Really half-and-half? I’m more of a fire girl myself. You should use that sweet left side of yours instead,” you smiled.
Of course he wouldn’t fall for it. He knew damn well that if your body got too cold, your quirk would turn timid.
“No thanks.”
Todoroki shot out large slabs of ice towards you in an attempt to keep you contained. Lucky for you though, you saw it coming and dodged the other way. As a counter attack to Shoto’s ice, you threw another small nitrogen explosion towards him. The ice chucks flew up, leaving a scratch on Shoto’s face.
“Shit-” he mumbled. Shoto continued to shoot ice at you but you kept on sending small explosions towards him. As the temperatures lowered, so did your explosive powers.
“You should really use a variety of moves, Shoto. Ice gets old pretty easily,” you teased. Your strategy was to wear him out before you.
“Oh really?” Shoto placed his hands on the floor.
Shit that’s exactly what I didn’t want him to do.
You jumped up just as the ice would have covered your feet. But now you were having to stand in the slippery ice. Suddenly, you had an idea.
You began creating hydrogen atoms in both hands, using the last of your stored heat to bond them. Shoto continued to throw ice daggers your way, causing you to multitask. Once your bonds were built to your desiring, you executed your plan.
“Jokes on you Shoto, I actually like the cold.” From the distance that Todoroki was standing from the wall, you needed to throw your explosions far enough away from him so you don’t permanently injure him. Shoto threw one last ice slab towards you and you threw your two bonds on both sides of him.
*BOOM*
As the smoke cleared, you saw that you had busted the walls down.
Well we’ll definitely get points off for that.
You felt a sharp pain in your bicep and saw that there was a piece of ice stuck between your skin.
Fuck that hurts.
You ripped the ice chunk out of your arm and threw it on the floor. The cut began to bleed but you ignored it. It was the least of your worries right now.
You waved away the smoke and tried to find Todoroki. He laid on his back, covered in debris.
“Sorry Shoto, you should’ve used fire like I said.”
You attached the makeshift handcuffs to the almost passed out Todoroki.
“Excuse me but I’ve gotta go deal with that idiot Bakugou now.”
~
You rushed up the stairs to get onto the roof. Once outside, you were relieved to be in the sunshine again. You looked around and saw Deku and Bakugou fighting. The roof was destroyed from Bakugou’s explosions. Deku must have given him a tougher time than expected. Deku had Bakugou pinned onto the ground.
“Wow Bakugou, I take out Todoroki and you still haven’t caught Miydoria? Amateur work,” you laughed.
“NOT THE TIME MS. ATOMIC OKAY!” huffed Bakugou.
“Ha, guess I’ll have to just save your ass. Sorry about this Deku.”
You charged over to Deku and Bakugou. You hit Deku with a tiny explosion on his side. Now that you were in a warmer atmosphere, your construction time was almost instantaneous. Deku flew off of Katsuki leaving both of you with the upper hand. Deku stood up, sparking green.
“Don’t be sorry for me Y/N.” Deku ran towards you, yelling his signature phrase and punched you in the stomach. You collapsed onto the ground.
“You little shit-” you groaned.
That’s definitely gonna leave a bruise.
Bakugou went back to fighting Izuku as you caught your breath.
“Y/N GET OVER HERE!” shouted Bakugou.
You stumbled onto your feet and began generating another explosion, bigger than your last ones. You had another idea and hoped Bakugou would go along with it. You ran over to Bakugou, jumped onto his shoulders, and threw your bond towards the ground as Bakugou used his explosions to fly you both away from the debris. Deku went tumbling across the roof.
Once the smoke had cleared and you saw that Deku wasn’t getting back up, you knew the two of you had won. Bakugou set the both of you down and you hopped off of him.
“Uh, you handcuff Deku and I’ll untie the hostage,” you said. Bakugou nodded. You unhooked the hostage from the ledge and threw it over your shoulder.
“Hero team wins. Nice job. I’ll get Recovery Girl…” called Aizawa from the loud speaker. You looked over at a collapsed Deku.
“Told you,” you smirked.
~
You and Bakugou made your way down the building to the rest of your classmates as they waited outside the gate.
“WOW great job guys!” cheered Kirishima.
“How did you know to get on Bakugou’s shoulders Y/N?” asked Denki. Your face went warm.
“Uh just out of instinct duh. I’m surprised that whole trick even worked,” you replied nervously.
“Yeah well if it weren’t for me it wouldn’t have,” said Bakugou. You rolled your eyes.
“You two actually make a pretty good team,” smiled Kirishima.
“Shut up,” said you and Bakugou, at the same time. Yours and Bakugou’s eyes widened at each other.
“Oh so now you’re copying me, dumbass?” growled Bakugou.
“I SAID IT FIRST, IDIOT!” You huffed.
“It’s like they’re the same person…” whispered Uraraka.
“SHUT UP!”

Hello Stranger (Stray Kids x Reader)
Fly Away my Love: Chapter 2
Masterlist
The streets were eerily quiet as you carefully made your way through the town. The sky was overcast and submerged the entire city in a gray glow. A cool wind blew through the streets, bringing with it discarded wrappers and leaves. But there wasn’t a person in sight. It didn’t look abandoned. Cars that looked to be in perfect working condition were parked on the side of the road.
There was a creak and you saw a brightly colored playground and one of the toys swaying back and forth in the wind. You couldn’t help but shiver. Something about this town felt weird. It was almost like it was abandoned overnight. Where were all the inhabitants? Everything looked as if it was used yesterday, so why did it feel like a ghost town?
“What are you doing out here?” there was a panicked whisper as if the person was afraid of disturbing the silence, and a hand clamped onto your arm. You tried to wrench yourself out of his grasp, but you were still exhausted from your earlier escape and he was too strong. “You’re going to get caught!” he quickly led the two of you away from the main road and down several alleys. You looked at the black-haired man who was currently leading you away. His face was set in a serious, guarded look, and his dark eyes continuously darted around looking for any signs of life.
Where was he taking you? Why was he taking you? His dark outfit reminded you of the soldiers that were chasing after you before, but his clothes were looser, and he didn’t seem to have any kind of weapon on him. He seemed kind of...normal, but you didn’t want to jump to any conclusions. However, you didn’t feel any threatening aura coming from him, so you let him lead you away.
What was this? First, there was the stranger with glowing red eyes who hid you from the soldiers who were in hot pursuit, and now there was this stranger warning you about being caught. It put you on edge, there was clearly some bigger piece of the puzzle that you were missing. Of course, after being held in that building for who knows how long, you didn’t expect to know anything about the outside world, but you didn’t expect it to be this...caring. Or maybe that was just you. Or maybe, as you feared, there was some bigger picture that you happened to be in the center of, and everyone but you knew the bigger picture.
You looked at him again, questions seemed to dance on the tip of your tongue. Questions that you wanted this man to answer. First, of which being, where are you taking me? But something about the atmosphere kept your mouth shut. Maybe it was the silence of the city. The only sounds being your footsteps and the occasional rattling of debris caught up by the wind. Or maybe it was the serious look on his face (or the eyebrow split). Or maybe it was the fear of what you would have to do once you had your answers.
As the two of you continued walking at a brisk pace, you noticed the buildings starting to look more decrepit. The outsides didn’t look as new, and you could see paint peeling off from the houses and sagging wood. Perhaps this was the oldest part of town, and by the looks of the gates rusted shut, the dead grass in people’s front yards, the potholes that you had to make sure to avoid, and the lack of any vehicles, nobody lived here anymore.
There was a crackle followed by the blaring sound of a siren and you jumped, but the stranger continued walking as if it was a normal occurrence. You did notice his grip on you tighten and his pace increase. Was that a bad sound? “The curfew is still in place,” a metallic voice announced, “the threat is still in the area. Please stay inside for your safety.” The alarm howled again and repeated its message a couple of times before giving one last howl and falling silent.
You heard a faint roaring sound and it seemed like the stranger heard it as well as he broke into a sprint, dragging you with him as the two of you ran to take cover by the nearest house. There was a covered front porch and the two of you curled up into the corner. He pulled his hood over his black hair and unzipped his jacket to better cover the two of you. Hopefully making the two of you pass as a shadow or a trash bag, instead of two people breaking the curfew.
The roar got louder and you tried to press yourself into a tighter ball. It sounded like a helicopter had flown over, probably scanning the area for the threat. Man, you felt bad for whatever this threat was. They just put the entire city into lockdown and had choppers-
Then it hit you, and you looked up at the man who was currently protecting you. Did he know? Did he know you’re the threat? If so, why is he protecting you? What if he didn’t know? What if he was just a kind-hearted citizen and you were getting an innocent person mixed up in the mess that you made? “Hey-”
He placed a hand over your mouth, “we’ll talk later,” he responded in a hushed voice. The sound of the helicopter had faded away and he stood up, “we’re almost there.” You didn’t know if you felt reassured or frightened by that. His hand found its way to your wrist again, and the two of you were off again. Not yet a run, but his pace definitely picked up.
He led the way into a building that looked like a strong wind would cause it to collapse. It seemed to be an abandoned office of sorts, judging by the open first floor and what looked to be a front desk. His grip on your wrist didn’t slacken as the two of you climbed the stairs past a couple of floors. The quick peek you were able to sneak showed that they were stripped bare of items. At the next floor though, he took the path out of the stairwell and onto the floor. Unlike the others, this one had items lying around and looked like it was actually lived in.
“I’m back,” he called out as he led you farther through the floor and away from the stairwell. You took a glance behind you to make sure you knew how to escape, you didn’t want to take your chances jumping out of a third-floor window.
“Did you find them?” someone shouted from somewhere on the floor.
The man who was holding onto you gave you a glance and what was probably meant as a reassuring smile (though that was the opposite of how you were feeling), “yep!” You emerged in what you assumed was the living room, due to the assortment of mismatched couches, and he let himself fall onto one of them, bringing you with him.
You saw someone was already laying on one of the couches and the two of you made eye contact, he gave you a lazy wave and a sweet smile as six more people piled into the room. “Jeongin!” someone yelled before practically leaping onto the person who was laying on the couch and crushing him.
There was a loud ‘oof’ from the person who got squished, “get off,” he cried out as he tried to push off the man who had unceremoniously jumped onto him, “you’re crushing me!”
The man let go of your wrist and you immediately snatched it back and moved away from the black haired male, this didn’t go unnoticed as he gave you a sheepish smile, “sorry about that. Since you slipped past Seungmin we didn’t want to lose you again.”
“Lose me?” you couldn’t help but look at him incredulously and crossed your arms defensively, “what do you mean? I don’t know you, and you don’t know me!”
“District 9.” You froze and turned your gaze wildly onto the blond who spoke up. He almost defiantly stared back at you, as if daring you to argue and say that you didn’t recognize the name. “That was the first time those sirens went off since we got here,” as if on cue there was the howl of the siren and the warning of the threat.
“I don’t recognize you.” You responded curtly as you looked at the eight men who were gathered in the room.
“We broke out of District 9,” he had a nonchalant cool atmosphere around him as if he wasn’t talking about a sketchy facility nobody should know of, “just like you.”
You opened your mouth to retort something along the lines of, ‘how did they know you broke out of District 9’, but the one who jumped on to Jeongin spoke up, “I know you have magic,” your eyes widened in recognition, it was Seungmin, “my ability allows me to recognize people who have magic.” You snapped your mouth shut. You saw his glowing eyes earlier, that was definitely a sign of magic, and it’s not like you could try and deny it. They already seemed to have figured everything out without ever meeting you.
“Okay,” you crossed your arms, still feeling on edge around them, “so what do you want from me?”
“Want?” the black-haired man who brought you here stumbled over his words as he looked at you in shock, “I just thought we could stick together, like, have each other’s back, support each other, and stuff.” His words faded into an uncertain mumble as if he hadn’t thought about you being so wary about the group.
You couldn’t help but look at him in disbelief, “do you assume everyone who has an ability to be a friend?” your scornful voice matched the slight curl of disgust on your lips. This entire crew was too trusting.
There was a shout and everyone looked to the new voice in surprise, “it’s not like you had a plan right?” the brown-haired man demanded as he glared at you. You averted your eyes from his stare. You did have a plan...kind of, but admittedly the black-haired man had a point. It would be easier to survive if you were with a group.
“Wait, you’re bleeding!” the conversation was suddenly interrupted by the exclamation of the black-haired man who dragged you here.
Startled by his shout, you jumped and looked down at your blood-soaked sleeve, “I wouldn’t say currently bleeding.” You slowly responded as you took note of how it felt. You didn’t feel streams of blood running down your arm, so you took that as the wound had clotted up. It obviously already had, since with all the moving you were doing, if it hadn’t, you probably would’ve bled to death. You tried wiggling your fingers, but there was a sore flare of pain, and you decided you probably shouldn’t do that.
“Oi Felix!” his loud voice caused you to jump again. He was so quiet and serious when you first met, seeing this was quite a surprise. “Come ‘ere bro!” you couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at the loud australian accent, but that seemed to have broken the tense atmosphere.
A blond sporting a mullet rushed to your side, “I’m Felix.” He told you with a smile before turning his attention to your arm and pushing up the sleeve. You were surprised by his low-voice, given his cute face and freckles you thought he’d have a sweeter voice. “This might feel a little weird, but don’t worry.” Feel weird? You tensed and raised your eyebrows at him as he closed his eyes and started to glow a faint yellow. You bit your lip as the skin on your arm started to squirm and morph, it wasn’t painful, but like Felix said, it was definitely unsettling. The dried blood didn’t go away, but your fingers started to feel normal and it seemed like his ability was working everywhere as the fatigue and exhaustion seemed to evaporate from your bones.
He let out a heavy sigh before falling back and leaning against the couch in between you and the australian, “feel better?” he asked with another smile though his eyes looked a lot more tired than before and you could’ve sworn bags formed under his eyes.
“Yes, thank you so much Felix.” You muttered back.
“I’m Chan,” you looked at the man who dragged you into the group, “sorry for not introducing myself earlier. It was a little hard with the...silence.” He finished lamely while Felix and a couple others snickered.
“Han,” one of the people who snickered introduced with a wave and a wide grin.
The person next to him was the one who shouted earlier, “I’m Lee Know.”
On the other side of Han was a dusky haired man, “Changbin, it’s nice to meet you!”
There was a grunt followed by a thump and you looked over to see Seungmin dumped on the floor, there were muffled snickers as the one who was crushed by Seungmin looked at you sweetly, “I’m IN.”
“Best for last,” he was met with a bunch of boos and he glared at the rest of the group who merely laughed back, “I’m Hyunjin.”
They all looked at you expectantly, waiting for your name. Seungmin already knew the fake name you had made up on the spot, but this was a chance to get closer and trusting. A chance to let someone else in. Would you? “(s/n).”
No.
"It's nice to meet you (s/n)!" Changbin’s eager smile made you feel guilty.
“Welcome to Stray Kids!” you couldn’t help but give a confused look at Chan, They did not look like kids, so why would they dub themselves that? He didn’t seem affected by your confused look, and the rest of the group seemed chill with it, so you just shrugged and followed along with it.
“Sorry if this is prying,” Seungmin was sitting on the floor on the couch in front of IN, “but I’m really curious as to how did you escape District 9.” You noticed that when his eyes weren’t glowing red, they were a warm brown. You guessed he wasn’t using his ability, but abilities didn’t always manifest with a sign.
“Yeah!” Han’s eyes were wide with excitement and he even bounced around to make his point, “you must’ve had a really epic escape plan if it was just you!”
“It took all eight of us to escape,” Lee Know groaned as he rubbed his eyes with a hand, “and all eight abilities.”
“Mostly Felix,” Hyunjin pointed to said person who looked like he was moments away from falling asleep on Chan’s leg.
“Mostly Felix,” Chan agreed.
“And you got out with just a bullet wound! How’d you do it?”
You could see it happening again, as if you were back in District 9. Whether your eyes were closed or open, you saw her body falling to the ground, getting shot down. Her dark eyes filled with tears as she begged you to run.
“(s/n)? (s/n)!”
You felt someone shake your shoulder and you slapped them off, screaming, “I didn’t kill her!”

Laser-Like Focus - Chapter 10
Pairing:  Bucky x reader
Summary: You met Bucky while working with the Avengers. You fell in love and got married. One thing you had in common was to kill all members of HYDRA. Bucky for his known reasons, and you because they killed your parents in front of you when you were a little girl. Soon your focus on HYDRA pulled you and Bucky apart. He decided to leave the Avengers and after a long separation, sent you divorce papers. He comes back to get the signed papers, as he is about to get married again. But everything with you and Buck is an adventure.
Tumblr media
After hearing that both agents were gone, you looked at Bucky and see the anger on his face. He turned around and punch the brick wall behind him with his metal arms. “Goddamnit! Stupid!” he said under his breath before leaning against the wall panting. You put your hand on his shoulder, making him look at you. Instantaneously his face softened.
“It wasn’t your fault. We tried to stop him,” you say calmly. Bucky took a deep breath and nodded, knowing you were right. He cupped your jaw and brought you to him to kiss you on the forehead. Suddenly Natasha’s voice came in again. “He has been found. Go to the left and down 5 buildings. Only heat signature that is moving,” she states.
“Ok everyone lets move. No one go in the building until Barnes or I say,” you say into the comm as you both take off in the direction Nat said. You and your team surround the building. Steve comes up to you, “I saw him peeking through the window, so he is definitely here. But I wouldn’t trust going in. He might have explosives,” he says.
“This ends today,” you say to Steve, who just nods in return. You look at Bucky, “You in this with me?” you ask. “Always, doll,” he replies with a nod. You both walk into the building, telling the rest of the team to hold back unless needed. As you make your way to the stairs, Bucky in front, you stop him, “Last one. Last time, and I promise we can finally have the life we deserve,” you say. Bucky stares at you in surprise before nodding and heading up the stairs.
He can’t help but wonder if you meant what you said. You have made claims like that before, but they fell through. He doesn’t want to get his hopes up, but maybe he can come up with a way for you both to win. He decides to think about it all when the mission is over; right now he just focuses on each floor and making sure you are safe.
When you get to the 5th floor, you both head down the hall to the only closed door on the floor. Bucky silently counts to 3 before swinging the door open and leading the way in with his rifle. There stands the wanted HYDRA operative. You see he is in pain from where he is shot, and he looks pale and sickly from blood loss. you do however recognize him from the night your parents died.
“Well you finally found me,” he says in a sneer. You step out from behind Bucky and point your gun at him, “Why would they have an older man be an informant? HYDRA must be losing steam. Am I finally getting to you?” you ask with a smirk. The man laughs, “Oh child, you have no idea what your escapades have done. If anything it makes us stronger,” he says.
“Well, the Avenegers will make sure every single one of you fuckers are either dead or in prison,” you say, taking a step closer. The man looks at you for a moment, “You look familiar child. Oh yes, Dr. Y/L/N’s daughter. No wonder you have the vendetta against us, but nothing you do will ever give you the revenge you seek. Your parents were nothing but useless, pathetic scientists who gave up their little lives for you,” he says.
Bucky looks at you and sees that you are shaking with rage, “Shut the fuck up! They were better people than all of HYDRA put together. And maybe I can’t avenge them completely, but killing you will be an absolute pleasure,” you say. The man laughs, “You think we don’t know how well your revenge plan has gone? First the fact that you married the asset is pathetic enough, but then you chase him away. Can’t even keep an emotionless, mindless, soldat happy. You are nothing but a waste--”
The shot was fired, startling both you and the HYDRA operative, however he just fell backwards dead. You see the blood pouring out of his head from where the shot hit him. You look over and see Bucky still aiming his rifle at him, breathing heavy. You lower your own weapon and walk over to Bucky. “It’s ok, Buck. He’s gone,” you say. Bucky lowers his weapon and looks at you.
“I know you wanted to do it, but I couldn’t--” you cut Bucky off quickly, “No, I’m glad you did it,” you say with a small smile. Suddenly the building starts to shake, “Guys get out of there, all the buildings are exploding and collapsing!” Steve yells. You and Bucky quickly look at each other and book it out of the room and down the hall to the stairs.
As you make your way down the stairs, you feel the foundation below you starting to crumble. Bucky grabs you and hoists you into his arms as he continues to jump from landing to landing. As you get down to the first floor the ceiling above you starts to collapse and falls onto Bucky making you both fall to the ground and get covered by debris.
--
Once the ground settled, the team quickly ran over to the building you and Bucky were in. They tried to reach you on the comms, but there was no answer. They brought in machinery to pick up large pieces of the building. Steve was right in the action, easily throwing brick and concrete away like it weighed as much as paper. As he kept digging, he found Bucky’s metal arm.
Once they were able to uncover Bucky they started to bring him to the command center because he was unconscious. On his way there he woke up, panicking as he wanted to get to you. “Buck, they are looking for her, ok. It’s going to be ok,” Sam said, trying to keep Bucky still. Bucky pushed Sam away, “I need to find her. I need to make sure she is alright,” Bucky said as he ran back toward the fallen building.
When Bucky got there, he quickly jumped in where Steve was, helping him lift pieces of concrete. He felt desperate to find you, and prayed to whatever higher power there was that you were ok. He dug further and further into the pile until he finally found you. You stuck under a large steel pole that helped hold the wall. It took several tries, but Bucky and Steve managed to get it off of you.
“Don’t touch her Buck. Let Cho and Banner take her in the cradle. Just in case,” Steve says. Bucky nodded silently, as tears came to his eyes. You had to be ok. He couldn’t lose you now. Not when he just got you back, not when you both were going to settle on what future you had. Dr. Cho and Bruce bring in the cradle and carefully place you in, before heading to the truck to bring you to the medbay at the tower. Bucky quickly jumps in the truck, not wanting to be away from you.
Bucky just looks at your unconscious form as Banner and Dr. Cho discuss findings. They both agree that you need surgery for some internal bleeding. They look at Bucky, “We need your permission as her next of kin,” Dr. Cho says. Bucky nods, knowing he cannot speak for fear of breaking down. After the short trip, both doctors take you and cradle and run to the operating room, telling Bucky they will give an update when they can.
Bucky sits on the hallway floor and covers his face, and allows himself to weep. He just repeats over and over, “Please be ok. I need you to be ok,” over and over. He waits and waits and waits for that update. He stares at the doors, waiting for someone to come. He continues to pray like never before.
He just waits.

Death 5
Part 1/ Part 2/ Part 3/ Part 4/ Part 6/ Part 7
"G-guys," Allegra called as she pointed at the figure from afar. "Is that what I think it is?" she asked worriedly. This made them all go to the windows as Felix's eyes widened in shock. "That's a Geryon," he said in a breathy voice. "A what?" Kenya asked not understanding what he meant. "Look at the structure, it has humongous feathery bat like wings and scorpion's tail. I have only seen pictures of it depicted in the Divine Comedy, but I never imagined Hawkmoth giving someone such abilities to do so," he explained. Marinette, however, was shell shocked as she recognized its rider. "Lila," she said in a hushed tone as she began backing away. Noticing her reaction, Felix knew who the intended target was.
"Everyone, we need to do something," Felix said getting their attention. "What do you mean?" Lindalee asked in concern. "The villain's target is Marinette, and from the looks of it, she wants her dead. We need to protect her," he continued as he took Marinette's trembling hand in his trying to calm her down. "No, it's not only me," Marinette said in a low voice. "From the looks of it, she'll kill anyone in her path. We need to protect everyone in this hospital," she stated in a more powerful voice. "Alright, what do we do?" Claude asked with all seriousness, willing to protect his friend from such fiend.
...
"Stupid Grim," Allan mumbled to himself as he continued destroying the tree in front of him. "Why couldn't you take me away! I want to go home! I want to live in peace already, damn it!" he continued shouting. "What am I going to wait for? When Earth becomes hell?" he sarcastically asked as the ground shook. He then saw a shadow loom over him and the tree. He slowly turned to find three slobbering heads of a vicious dog with an undefinable breed looking at him with hunger in its eyes.
He immediately jumped onto its heads to avoid their jaws as he narrowly escaped. For some reason Cerberus could see him, and it could've bit him. He could feel it's warm breath, which was strange given that he's dead. "What the hell?" he asked to himself as he jumped onto the top of the nearest building to observe what was happening to Paris. It seemed as if hell needed more space and transferred some of its residents to France. To his right he could see that the colour of the Seine turned to blood, with Charon was cruising with some petrified people, while centaurs were at the banks, prepared to shoot anyone who wishes to escape. To his left he could see the akumatized victim stalking it's prey.
"You can't hide from me forever Alya!" the akumatized victim cried. He looked at her and observed. "Come on out. I'd hate for you to be the last, that's Marinette's place," she continued. "There you are," she stated as she made Alecto lift the car that was blocking her vision. "Lady Luck and Monsieur Noir will stop you," Alya declared as she said her punishment. This made Castigare cackle saying, "Oh, I doubt that Alya. No one can, Kim or should I call Monkey King, and Alix are currently having a blood bath battle for their wrathful attitudes. Rose, Juleka, Nathanael and Marc are enjoying their rain fire for being homosexuals. And Max, poor Pegasus, he lost Markov and is currently burning in his tomb. Mylène and Ivan on the other hand, such pure souls, yet were gullible nonetheless to chase sinful opportunities, they're currently experiencing a blind race over an every shifting flag on a ground of maggots," Castigare informed with a sinister grin. This made Alya's eyes prick with tears as she awaited her punishment. "But for Marinette, oh she'll suffer. After my furies tear her limb from limb mercilessly. And her screams are silent, for she is asleep, for now," she added menacingly.
This caught his attention, Marinette? Why would she want Marinette? Unless, he thought realising who this girl was. "Lila Rossi," he muttered under his breath as he made his way into François Dupont to find Lady Luck and Monsieur Noir struggling to keep the she-wolf at bay.
The two continued to fight off the three beasts forgetting the easiest escape, taking a different route. Allan sighed at their attempts to fend them off. Given that these creatures can see the dead, he might as well distract them to give the two an escape to save his friends. He picked up a discarded book and threw it their way. This caught the beasts' attention as the three of them began to corner him. He stood his ground as he watched Lady Luck and Monsieur Noir escape to hunt Castigare down. He smirked as he said, "Well then, let's see if your dead bodies could make a difference."
...
Allegra and Marinette stood inside her room, carefully monitoring her body to make sure no creature would enter. Lindalee and Kenya were monitoring the hallways near Marinette's room, given that they're the second most skillful comatose ghosts in their group. Felix and Claude, on the other hand, were in the frontlines, waiting for the villain's arrival.
"I'm sorry," Marinette blurted out. Allegra immediately rushed to her and engulfed her in a hug. "There's nothing to be sorry about," Allegra assured. "But because of my vulnerable body, it's making all of you worked up in protecting me," Marinette said guilty. "Well, we can't help it can we. It's natural to not want help from those around you, thinking that it makes us feel like more of a nuisance. But we are doing this because we want to keep you safe, because we know that you would do the same for us. You're our friend, we're not going to let anyone harm you. Chin up, darling, everything will be alright. Don't freight," Allegra soothed.
"This would be a lot easier if Allan were here," Claude commented as they watched Lila get closer. "Well, he's never at the right place at the right time," Felix answered. "Let's just make sure that there wouldn't be any casualties. There are a lot of vulnerable people in hospitals," Claude mentioned. "Yeah, we just slow her down until the heroes arrive," Felix replied. With that Castigare jumped off Geryon and waltzed into the entrance.
The nurses gave her an annoyed look as she shouted, "Which room is Marinette Dupain?" The security guard immediately tried to remove her from the building, only to have his actions in vain as Castigare summoned her furies and pointed them to him. This meant for them to take action as they took him away. Castigare approached the front desk to ask the nurse again, the drawers began to vibrate making everyone to look around. The first thing that they used were the vials. Using their enhanced speed, Claude began throwing the glad from different directions. Felix took a couple of surgical needles and aimed it at her, with one was full of general anesthesia.
"What is happening?" Castigare asked as she was being attacked by office and medical supply. "Is this a new miraculous?" she began to ponder aloud. She clenched her teeth, she didn't have time for this. She immediately summoned her Cerberus to find Marinette.
The three headed dog complied and barged into the hospital and began looking for Marinette's room. Upon nearing the hallway to her room, Kenya and Lindalee immediately destroyed the floors, making sure no one was at the floor below them. This did not stop Cerberus though, as he began to fall, he was able to snatch onto Kenya's shirt. It's claws digging deep into her skin, piercing it to the rib cage and damaging her lungs causing the young girl to release an ear piercing scream. "Kenya!" Lindalee shouted as she tried to grab her friend.
Their wandering souls are a lot like Voodoo dolls, any damage they get may affect their actual bodies. Right now, Kenya's body is not receiving enough oxygen. Her heart began to speed up rapidly, causing the nurses and doctors to panic as they try to revive her. Kenya's soul, however, was slowly feeling lighter and lighter. Lindalee jumped down as she tried to look for her friend beneath the debris. "Kenya! Kenya!" she continued to call out. Once she got to one of its paws, she immediately raised it to find Kenya there. She's not bleeding, since she's a ghost, but she was slowly fading. There may be two meanings, either she's waking up or, she's dying. Lindalee placed both her hands on her mouth in shock.
"Did you hear that?" Marinette asked. Allegra nodded as she opened the door to find the destroyed hallway. "Where are Lindalee and Kenya?" Allegra pondered out loud. "Allegra," cried a voice from below. "Lindalee? Where are you?" she asked with concern. "Down here, help me, no, help Kenya, please," Lindalee pleaded, her voice getting softer. "Marinette, I think they're in trouble. I'll be right back," Allegra said as Marinette nodded. "Go, I'll be fine. Keep them safe," Marinette answered.
Once Allegra left, Marinette felt another pit of guilt in her stomach. Please be safe, please be safe, she chanted to herself. Hoping that all her friends were alright. She looked at her body, she looked at peace, her breathing was normal so was her heart rate. She looked out of the window and saw that the blue sky turned into a blood red shade as monsters polluted the sky. People were given different sufferings depending on their heaviest sin. She could see limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence and fraud. Paris turned into a living hell and Lila's destroying it all.
...
"Cerberus?" Castigare tried to call out as she began dodging all the things that came her way. "Damnit, where are you?" she tried again. Realising that the dog will not be coming anytime soon signified that it has failed her. "Geryon," she shouted as the monster came crashing through, protecting her from all the destruction coming her way. With that, she allowed it to block the passage as she stalked her way to Marinette's room.
"She's heading their way," Claude called. "I've got it, don't worry," Allan said as he entered. This made the trip boys smile at their friend's arrival. "What? You didn't think that is let you guys have all the fun. This could be a better way at venting, no holding back," Allan joked as he cracked his knuckles. "Go crazy," Claude supported. "We'll be outside her room to make sure nothing goes that way," Felix said as they nodded at each other and began.
"Hey, ugly!" Allan tautened as Geryon turned to face him. "What are you doing!" Castigare scolded. "There's no one there! Let's get a move on!" she raged as she tried to steer him to Marinette's room. "I see you can't resist the souls of the dead," Allan continued. "Why are you still here? Have you not found your way to the afterlife?" Geryon asked seriously. "Well, let's just say that some souls aren't meant to cross, yet," he answered casually. "Come along, I will take you King Minos for your judgement," Geryon ordered. "Wait, wait, who said that I'm meant for hell," Allan replied. "Knock it off!" Castigare demanded as she smacked it's head with her sceptre to behave. Being a demon, he shook her off as he began chasing Allan around for his judgement saying, "All souls must cross over. No soul must be left wandering the world of the living!" Allan laughed as they began the chase and continued taunting him, "Not this soul. You have to be quicker if you want to catch me."
"Come back you useless monster!" Castigare shouted, feeling slightly embarrassed by being thrown off. "Listen Castigare, you're no longer holding your end of the bargain. Hand me the miraculouses or else I'll take your power away," Hawkmoth reminded. "Shut up, Hawkmoth. You will need me so by taking my akuma away you'll lose your closest ally," Castigare threatened back. This earned an evil laugh from Hawkmoth. "Oh, really now. Don't think that your irreplaceable my dear. If I recall correctly, even if I take your akuma away there's still a chance that you will be deported and your parents will know about everything. You would be trialed for terrorism, even though your a minor, you willingly allowed yourself to get akumatized multiple times. I can even vouch on that, don't forget hospitals have cameras. Don't think that I don't know about what you had don't to your victim, Marinette Dupain-Cheng," he slapped the truth in her face menacingly. This made her grit her teeth at the truth that Hawkmoth slapped in her face. "Shut up! Shut up!" she cried out as she held her head trying to block him out. "Never bite the hand that feeds you," he mumbled to both of them as he began threatening the removal of her powers, but unlike Evillustrator, this one's more painful. This made her screech in pain as she felt her whole body on fire. "Alright, alright, I'll get the miraculouses," she conceded. "Good girl, now you'll hold up your end of the deal. Use your new found powers for both yours and my desire," he said as he stopped her suffering.

(U. L.) Reclaiming the Earth
Synopsis: The monsters who held a grudge against humanity rise up to take revenge.
Warnings: ?/F soft unwilling vore, death of pred, intense violence, implied death of characters, general chaos and peril
Warren slammed the book shut and hobbled over to take out another one. He collapsed against the wall as he started to skim through the pages. Two weeks felt like a year in this dull basement. The only company was an exhausted alchemist and a murderous giant who tried to kill him. He was afraid to tell Rebeka and Liss the extent of what happened. As far as they knew, he got into a car accident out of town and was staying at the hospital there with a friend. They knew nothing about his missing leg. He didn’t want to say anything about it, as if that would solidify the loss. Magic exists… Magic can fix anything, right? Why tell them if his leg wouldn’t be gone forever? He’d surely find a way to get it back if he tried.
Phantom limb syndrome was hell. The stump of his left leg was swelling up as it healed, and Olivia had to keep cleaning and treating it to avoid infection. The nerve endings were on fire, and even though the limb was gone, it felt like it was still there. Most of the stuff he could feel from it right now was just pain.
“You know no magic can reverse that, right?”
Warren glanced up from the book to shoot Rhyka a glare. “Well that’s exactly what a careless murderer like you would say to make me give up. And I heard you the first hundred times.”
Rhyka sighed, leaning back in her chair. She was still tied down to it to avoid causing any trouble. She hadn’t tried to escape since they first captured her. It was almost unsettling how complacent she was here, not seeming worried at all about her predicament.
“I don’t expect you to listen to me, though your stubbornness can be amusing to watch. It says a lot about humans.”
Warren’s eyes narrowed at her, then he ignored her and stared back down at the book, continuing to flip through the pages. He stopped when he heard something from the floor above make its way downstairs. Olivia was there, looking tired as usual. Her carafe of coffee might as well be glued to her hand because of how seldom she was seen parted with it. Close behind her followed a familiar tall figure with unruly black hair and golden eyes.
Warren perked up in confusion. “Eli?” The camouflaged giant’s eyes barely met the ex-hunter as Rhyka seemed to catch his eye. He took in a gasp and let out a hysterical chuckle. “What the-- fuck? You gotta be shitting me!” He grinned, hopping off the last stair and went over to Rhyka, laughing. Olivia followed behind, seeming too tired for this as she lazily sipped her coffee.
“Oh stars, ya did it! The fuck are ya doin’ here!” Eli shot a glance over to Warren, still grinning. “Hey tiny. The fuck happened to your leg?”
“It’s fine- I’ll fix it.” Warren spoke hesitantly.
“Still stuck in denial,” Rhyka’s expression was unphased and deadpanned at the other giant. “Hello, Arawn. Did the other giants scare you off again?”
Warren was curious as well, wondering why on earth Eli would come here of all places. He hated humans. Maybe he just came here to gloat over the Elder giant. Eli’s eyes narrowed at Rhyka’s words and he let out a snort. “Scare me? Nah. They’re just bein’ fuckin’ annoying. Too many giants out of rotation. I came here to hang out ‘till they scatter. I have no idea what the hell is goin’ on ‘cuz there was just a Banding, and there’s like, hundreds around. It’s impossible to get anywhere without their stench fuckin’ everything up.” He rolled his eyes.
Warren’s eyes widened. “Wha-- hundreds?” His voice raised up a pitch in fear. “What-- what are they all doing here? It’s halloween! Everyone is going to be out late! It’ll be a bloodbath!”
Eli snorted. “Not like I fuckin’ care, tiny. I just don’t want ‘em off my ass.”
Rhyka tilted her head slightly and looked at Eli almost mockingly. “There are so many… Couldn’t you help but feel as if they are leaving you out of something bigger?”
Eli bared his teeth in a snarl. “Like I’d ever wanna be part of anything involving them after what they fuckin’ did. They’re all assholes. Every one of ‘em.”
Rhyka sighed, her lips still curled back into a slight smile. “Something bigger is coming, Arawn. Bigger than you and your petty grudges. Do you not want to be part of the redemption of our kind? You are so caught up in the past about what happened and have become blind to what the future holds for us. I remember you as a child. You were one of the most determined and loyal of the giants in your clan. You held so much more promise than your soft sister.”
Eli’s eyes flared in fury. Bones cracked and lengthened and he grew to his giant form, crouching beneath the low ceiling and propped up on all fours to stoop over Rhyka with an infuriated growl. “Olivia, I think I’m gonna to take this irritating prick off of your hands.”
The alchemist lifted the carafe from her lips briefly to mutter a tired. “Sure.”
Warren took in a nervous gasp and tried to stand, supporting himself against the back of a chair. Part of him wondered what Rhyka had meant with this ‘bigger thing’ that was coming, but that had quickly swept out of his mind at Eli’s actions. As much as he hated Rhyka, he didn’t want to see anyone sent to that sort of fate. “Wait— Eli—“
Eli ignored him, striking his claws through the ropes binding her to the chair and pinned her arms to her sides as he brought her closer. Warren took in shaky breaths and looked away.
“You are so predictable, Arawn.”
CRASH!
The giant’s ears flattened backward at the sudden sound from upstairs. He glanced up briefly. “The fuck…?”
The basement door suddenly flew open and a figure appeared. They were short and lean in stature and wore a long dark blue hooded coat, a mask covering the lower half of their face, and the fanged lower jaw of some sort of animal attached to their mask. Their eyes were a blank white.
They lifted their right hand and a white glow beamed from it. Eli was suddenly slammed backward against the opposite wall by an invisible force. Plaster and dust showered down from the ceiling from the impact. Rhyka flew from his hands and landed onto the floor. Warren gasped and crawled backwards, trying to hide beneath the staircase.
Olivia set down her carafe, seeming more irritated than afraid of the sudden intrusion. She went over to her alchemist equipment and drew out a piece of green ice which melted into her hand upon contact.
“Leave my shop.” She drawled.
“Not until I’m done shopping for a special artifact.” The stranger replied in a high, amused voice. Their hand glowed again and Olivia was hurled against the wall next to Eli. Eli coughed, crouching beneath the ceiling and bared his fangs. “The fuck are you, prissy?”
“Aren’t you supposed to be readying the front lines?” The stranger raised a brow. “Ah, I see. This is one of the soft ones. Come along, Rhyka! We can’t miss tonight’s festivities!”
“Fuck off. She’s mine to kill.” Eli growled and lunged to grab for Rhyka again, though something seemed to twist beneath his skin, forcing his hand backwards in an unnatural position. He let out a shriek of pain and was held back and immobilized, unable to reach further.
“Respect your Elders, now. Did no one ever tell you that?” The stranger chuckled. Rhyka grinned, hurrying to her feet to follow the stranger. Olivia grunted in annoyance and held out her hand. Her hand seemed to turn into wood and long twisted vines erupted from her palm. They grappled for Rhyka’s leg and yanked her backwards.
“You ruined… my evening. Did no one ever teach you to knock?” The alchemist frowned slightly.
The white-eyed stranger withdrew something from their coat and crushed it between their fingers. Blood poured from their hand. Olivia suddenly choked and coughed. Blood splattered across her lips and soaked through her midsection from an invisible wound. She stumbled to the floor, coughing her lungs out before she went still in a growing pool of her own blood. The vines from her hand retreated to nothing.
Rhyka got to her feet again and ran up to join the stranger by the stairs. “Ah, too bad you finished the job for me. I would have liked to kill her myself. And it’s a shame you chose not to join us Arawn. Maybe one day you will side with your own kind when we reclaim our world.”
An angered roar ripped from Eli’s throat, still fighting against the invisible force with no luck. The stranger cackled in amusement and turned to disappear up the stairs with Rhyka at their side.
The invisible force seemed to vanish as soon as they left and Eli fell flat on his face. He growled, getting into his knees again and crawled toward the staircase.
Warren was shaking, but managed to scoot across the floor towards Olivia. “Eli s-stop! You— you saw what they did to— to Olivia— You won’t stand a chance!”
He bit back nausea building up in his throat and tried to lift Olivia off of the floor, holding pressure to the bleeding wound. He put his other hand to her neck to feel her pulse. For a moment he thought he had lost her, but the pulse could faintly be felt. She had lost so much blood it had become almost too subtle to detect.
Eli stopped to glance back at Warren and scowled with a groan. Warren was right. He took a good look at Olivia that didn’t seem promising.
“Leave it, kid. She’s gone.”
Warren glared at Eli. “She— she’s alive. We just need… alchemy or— or something.”
“It’s probably too late for—“
Eli’s voice was cut off as there was a sudden tremor that shook the whole basement. Cracks split through the ceiling and debris showered down. There was a sound like rumbling thunder. The quaking came in bursts. It would shake, then go silent, then it would shake again.
Warren held Olivia closer, tensing up. His hand was now soaked in blood from trying to hold her wound closed. “What— what was that?”
A louder boom made the room shake and Eli raised up his hands to shield himself from the debris coming from the ceiling. His nose scrunched up as if he had caught a bad smell. “The fuck— did the giants follow me here? They’re so close. But that scent...” His eyes widened. “Mountain giants.”
As Eli was speaking, Warren struggled to hold in the blood. Olivia was growing cold and clammy. Her skin seemed even more pale now. He didn’t know how much time she had left. Warren glanced up at Eli nervously. “Mountain gi—? okay we can worry about that later— what— what alchemy thing smells the most like it’ll do some miraculous healing? She’s— she’s getting a lot worse.”
“Worry about them later? Are ya out of your fuckin’ mind? And I told ya. She’s,” he paused and his eyes narrowed briefly. He glanced towards the alchemy equipment, seeming to smell something. He moved toward it and clawed off one of the drawers with his oversized hand and drew out a long white feather. He sniffed it, then held it out for Warren. “Ugh. We gotta press this to the wound, but we both should probably do it.”
He looked begrudging of the idea of helping Olivia, but Warren took it. Warren took hold of the feather and held it up against the wound with Eli’s hand touching the feather as well. A sudden pain shot through him and he felt like the blood had been drained from his body and a wound had pierced his middle. The color left his face, and he shuddered, watching the color begin to return to Olivia’s.
Eli groaned, withdrawing his hand and put it to his middle. He seemed to be experiencing a similar pain. Blood stained his hand. The feather was now coated in blood, but Olivia’s wound had thankfully stopped bleeding.
“What— the heck was that?” Warren gasped.
“Caladrius feather. Learned how to hunt ‘em back when I was a kid.” The giant glanced up and held his arms up to brace himself as the room shook again with a rumble. “Okay, somethin’s up and I don’t want to be trapped in a goddamned basement when somethin’ sniffs out all that blood.”
He shifted back to his camo form and got to his feet. Warren looked up at him with wide eyes, still splattered in Olivia’s own blood. “Wait--” He bit his lip. “That crazy magic person… and Rhyka… They said... s-something big is coming. Something… Something’s happening out there. And my sisters are out in the open trick-or-treating.”
Eli glanced back at him, raising a brow. “Trick-or-treatin’s a hot spot for giants to snatch from anyways. Why the fuck would ya let ‘em go out doin’ that after knowing all this shit exists? You’re dumber than I thought.”
“I didn’t think this would happen! I thought the rotation already passed! Just— if you see them out there, please—“
“I’m not your personal guard dog, ‘kay? I’d rather save my own skin from these giants than stick my neck out for some random humans.” Eli looked disgusted. His eyes studied Warren’s for a moment, almost seeming to second-guess his words before the look was gone in an instant. An almost defensive expression crossed his face before he let out a snort and headed up the stairs again.
“Wait— wait!” Warren was ignored and left alone in the company of the unconscious alchemist.
Eli stopped at the front of the alchemist’s shop and took a good sniff of the air as he glanced out the now shattered window. Past the billowing clouds of dust, smoke, and splintered concrete. His jaw dropped.
“Fuck.”

Elsewhere…
“Don’t take off your hat, or no one will recognize what you are!”
“But it’s itchy!” A whiny voice returned.
Rebeka shook her head, smiling. “Well then, I guess I’ll be the pirate for Halloween!”
The older sister reached over to take Liss’s pirate hat and set it on her head. The two sisters were making their way down the sidewalk for trick-or-treating as he sky darkened and the pale full moon crept out from the lacy clouds. Kids of every age with their parents were dressed up in fun and scary Halloween costumes. Skeletons, witches, demons, cats.
Ten-year-old Liss has been proud of what she picked for Halloween. She was a pirate. And not just any pirate, but a captain with a fluffy red feather on top of her hat. She even brought along her plush dragon that would serve as a parrot for now. At the moment, instead of resting on her shoulder, it was propped up against the rim of her jack-o-lantern candy bucket to peer outside.
Ever since Warren’s car accident, Rebeka had felt a bigger sense of protectiveness over their little sister. It made her anxious, though she hid it well. She worked at a hospital. She was used to dealing with keeping a calm facade over stress. She didn’t want to scare Liss.
“But you can’t be a pirate! You’re a robber!” Liss said.
“A robber and a pirate can be the same thing. A pirate is just someone who steals things,” Rebeka responded, straightening the hat on her head. It did clash with the black-and-white striped prison garb that she wore, which made Liss feel even more upset. That was her captain hat.
“No— give it back! I want to be the captain!”
Rebeka chuckled, pretending for a moment longer that she intended on keeping the hat, even taking out her phone to look at the reflection of how it looked on her before finally shrugging.
“Hmm… Well I don’t want the hat to go to waste if you keep taking it off… But I can always take it back when you take it off again.”
The hat was withdrawn and offered to the little pirate again who quickly snatched it back. “I won’t take it off!”
Rebeka chuckled in a teasing tone. “If you say so,”
The last words were muted by a sudden deafening rumbling. The very ground quaked. Hairline cracks split across the ground, spreading across the pavement. Rebeka’s eyes widened and she quickly dropped her pillowcase candy bag, reaching out to bring Liss closer. The little girl screamed, hugging her sister. She even dropped her candy bucket, completely forgetting about her plush dragon.
“What was that?” Liss shouted over the sounds.
“I don’t know.” Rebeka said, keeping her voice level. Her heart pounded, but she had to stay calm around her sister. She lifted up Liss and hurried down the quaking street. The trembling ground made it hard to keep footing. It was hard to think.
In a rush of adrenaline, she ran while carrying her little sister toward the center of the town. While she ran, she heard a deafening crashing sound behind her. The cracks in the ground widened and rubble tumbled down the mountainside. The road was split in half and there was no way of crossing back over.
Thundering tremors seemed to pulse through the ground, spaced out with brief periods of silence and rumbles. Almost like the rhythm of a beating drum. Dust clouded up the streets from the rubble, clouding her vision. A police siren blared and people were shouting to get inside. A neighbor stood by their doorway, beckoning them inside. Liss could see something over Rebeka’s shoulder and screamed. Rebeka didn’t dare look back, but bolted into the house. The neighbor shut the door hastily and locked it.
“What— what was that?” The neighbor gasped.
“I didn’t see—“
“He was ginormous!” Liss was set onto the floor, staring back at the door with wide eyes. “And there was a wolf as tall as our house!”
Rebeka blinked. “A wolf? Here? Wolves don’t even get that big.”
She looked to the neighbor who only nodded fearfully. “I got a glimpse. At least ten feet tall or something. And that monster-thing! It must have been five stories—!”
There was suddenly a grinding screech that deafened their words. The ceiling shook, then stopped. Following a pause, there was a deafening crash. The ceiling caved inward nearby, impacted by a boulder— no, it wasn’t a boulder.
A hand.
The massive appendage was nearly as tall as they were standing from wrist to fingertips and it was a dark stony grey color. It grabbed the neighbor, dragging them back screaming through the hole in the roof. “Oh my god!” Rebeka screamed, picking up Liss again to run toward the back door of the house. The woods laid beyond. Whatever these— these things were, they seemed to be targeting the people of the city. She knew some caves that would hopefully be too narrow for them to reach into.
She ran into the trees and deeper into the forest. The ground still shook and frightening sounds came from the city. She could smell smoke. Moonlight shifted between the leaves in a chilly breeze as they fled. Up ahead, the hill sloped downward into a steep dip in the forest. In the center, boulders surrounded a narrow opening in the earth. Rebeka set Liss down and gasped to catch her breath.
“C-come on— inside,” Rebeka took Lisa’s hand and started taking her toward the cave. The opening was narrow and eight feet high. Whatever that massive monster was couldn’t get them here. A part of her mind worried about bears, but she knew there were worse things to worry about. Liss whimpered and complained about going into the dark cave, but Rebeka got out her phone’s flashlight and shined it into the cave.
The sisters hurried cautiously into the space and Rebeka immediately sat down, covering her face as she tried to catch her breath and get her bearings about what happened. She felt something move beside her as Liss hugged her. “I’m scared.”
“Me too,” Rebeka didn’t know what to make of the situation, what those things were, why they attacked, what they were doing to people… The old book, ‘War of the Worlds’ came to mind with the countless aliens coming to harvest humans and take over the planet for themselves. Would it be like that?
“I’ll check that the rest of the cave is safe. Stay here,” Rebeka said numbly. She got to her feet again and shined her flashlight into the dark depths of the cave. The stone walls grew narrower and winded deeper like a maze as she went. She didn’t venture too far. This place was giving her the creeps, and she didn’t want to leave Liss alone for long.
Liss hugged herself as her sister left. She glanced outside the mouth of the cave again. She thought she could hear something moving in the distance. A shimmer of reflective eyes… Maybe it was a cat in a tree? Either way, it made her nervous. She liked cats, but this one didn’t move like a cat. She shivered against the cave wall nervously, hoping that Rebeka would come back soon.
Something moved to Rebeka’s side within the deep passage. She gasped and in her panicked state, her phone slipped out of her grip. The cave was swallowed into a complete darkness. Something shimmered in the depths of the cave. Two white dots almost seemed to glow. Eyes. She got to the floor, hastily feeling around for her phone. She glanced back at where the eyes where and felt a pant of fear. They were gone. She could hear it moving again. A distant clicking sound like some sort of insect. A cracking, snapping sound like dry bones. Her heart beat faster. Her hand finally located her device and she lifted it up, shining it to her side—
A massive creature stood inches from her side. Easily twice her side. Its skin was bone-white and covered with glowing white, blue, red, and purple markings. It’s eyes were blank and bulbous like a deep sea fish. Jagged long fangs jutted out of its jaws. It almost seemed reptilian by its scaley skin, though a crest of plumage covered its face, back, and tail. Its fingers were long and spidery and topped with long sharp claws. It was bent into an unnatural position. Its joints seemed to defy all logic as they cracked and compressed to travel within the narrow passage.
Rebeka gasped, dropping backwards and tried to crawl away from it. It cocked its head at her and made clicking sounds through its fangs. One of its hands easily grabbed her by the legs and dragged her toward it. She struggled and kicked frantically, trying to pry the grip off of her legs. It let out a hissing screech and jerked her closer, clamping its jaws over her legs. Its long snake-like tongue wrapped around her legs to bind them in place, dripping saliva over her pants.
Her phone dropped to the floor again as she lowered both hands to fight with the creature’s jaws to try to get it to let go, but instead of reacting, it gulped and her legs were drawn within the tight passage. Its long fangs pricked threateningly around her legs as more of her was drawn in. She could see the sides of its jaws dislocate like a snake’s. A horror dawned on her. It was going to swallow her whole?! She squirmed to try to claw at the cave floor to find something to grip onto, but the smooth floor offered no purchase. She was going to die. Liss— Would it come for her too?
“Liss!” She shouted. “Get— get out of here—!” She let out a pained scream as it’s jaws jerked back for another swallow, dragging her in up to her chest. She could feel herself mostly trapped within the throat now, and the creature was unyielding. Gross drool soaked the narrow throat as it pulsed in another gulp. She couldn’t hear if her sister had run, but only hoped she would get to safety. God, she didn’t want to die like this.
One last gulp sealed her fate as she was drawn entirely into the creature and set downwards. She was squeezed into a tight fleshy chamber and gasped for air. She kicked against the stomach walls frantically, barely believing what had just happened. She wouldn’t accept this. She didn’t want to die like this!
***
Liss had heard the warning shout and took in fearful breaths, beginning to turn to run outside the cave before her blood froze. Those glistening eyes were staring through the cave entrance, and now she was beginning to make out the figure they belonged to. It looked a person, but it was far too huge to be a person. He was easily over three times as tall as her. His eyes weren’t normal, looking almost like a cat’s. Long fangs and claws were displayed as natural weapons to the large creature. He was entering the cave. She gasped and stumbled away. His face contorted into a scowl and he crawled into the cave, sniffing the air.
“Don’t fuckin’ move, tiny, or you won’t be the only one who’s gonna get killed tonight,” his voice rumbled threateningly before he crawled right past her and deeper into the cave. She shakily curled up, nodding at the giant. He was scary, and he said bad words. He was probably a villain who was going to try to kill her anyways. She didn’t trust him, but she was too afraid to do anything but obey.
The giant listened carefully through the cave. His eyes adjusted to the darkness easily. He could see something up ahead. A clicking.
“Fuck,” He muttered under his breath. He could hear it already making its escape deeper into the cave passage. It was too narrow for the giant to get far, even on his hands and knees. He had to hurry. He could see the iconic glowing markings of the cave creature in the distance and hurried faster with his lips curled back into a threatening snarl. Its tail was beginning to round a corner and he roughly grabbed for it. An inhuman screech followed and it writhed in his grip like a fish, but he was unyielding. He dug his claws into the tail for grip and dragged it backwards. The creature was dragged into sight.
A cave giant. Its body was contorted to fit through the cave passage, though it was significantly larger than the wood giant. This one must’ve been fifteen feet tall, though it was difficult to tell with it’s awkward position. The giant could see its middle was slightly bulging with its living meal writhing within.
The cave giant let out a screech as it whirled around, slashing its longer claws toward the wood giant. They dug into his shoulder and dragged across his torso, cutting deep into the flesh. He hissed in pain, feeling his shirt already soaked down with his own blood. He lunged at the cave giant, driving his own claws into the creature’s chest and bit down near the neck, just missing the vitals by centimeters. Blood dripped from his fangs and he felt dizzy from his own blood loss at this point. He shoved the creature to the cave floor and pinned it at the throat. It squirmed weakly as it was losing consciousness from the wound in its neck. He jabbed his claws into its torso and dragged them downwards, making a long, wide cut through its stomach. The creature let out one last weak screech before choking on its own blood and went still.
The giant felt lightheaded, barely conscious from his own blood loss. His wounds weren’t closing up quickly enough to make up for the lost blood. He ignored the pounding pain and finished the cut along the creature’s middle and a bedraggled, slimy person fell out onto the cave floor, covered in the cave giant’s own blood and stomach fluids. She reeked. A grimace formed on the giant’s face and he roughly grabbed her arm, dragging her back toward the mouth of the cave. She coughed up slime that had gotten into her mouth and gasped for air. She blearily tried to adjust to what had happened and the change of temperature outside of the creature’s stomach. Something else had caught her now. She couldn’t see well in the darkness, though she could make out his reflective golden eyes and his hulking silhouette that dwarfed her. She let out a frightened sound and kicked, struggling to get his grip off of her arm. “W-wait— p-please— let me go—“
She yelled as the grip was suddenly released and she dropped to the floor. She coughed, trying to get to her feet. She could see Liss curled up near the mouth of the cave and shakily got to her feet, stumbling forward. She tripped over her own feet and fell onto her face before she managed to gain her bearings back and rushed over to her sister to make sure she was alright.
“Yeah, don’t thank the giant that just saved your ass. Sure.” The giant grumbled, sitting against the cave wall as he pressed a hand to the injury across his torso. He grit his teeth slightly, cursing under his breath. “I’m so fuckin’ stupid. Ugh. Stars. Shit. Damnit.”
Liss hugged her sister in relief and instantly grimaced at the slime and repulsive smell. “Ew! What happened? You smell yucky.” The little girl withdrew and covered her ears as the giant cursed again. “He says a lot of bad words…”
Rebeka shuddered, shaking her head. “It’s f-fine,” she looked at the giant nervously. “Who— what are you? Why did you— why—“ she winced and sat on the floor of the cave, putting a hand to her head, trying to keep her breaths level. So much was going through her head right now. Too many scares. She didn’t know how to take this all in.
“Name’s Eli. I’m a giant. Dumbass.” He groaned and laid down on his side. His wounds were bleeding so badly, he just needed time to heal. “Ugh, gonna get some… shuteye… heal… Don’t leave… don’t do anything fuckin’... stupid.”
In moments, he was already asleep, leaving the two alone in the cave. Rebeka bit her lip, glancing down and tried to level her breaths after all that had happened. She couldn’t breathe. Her chest felt so tight. She felt a cold shiver run over her and her limbs slowly lost awareness. She slumped to the floor, unconscious.
***
Poke.
Rebeka barely stirred. She rolled to her side and let out a tired snort in her sleep.
Poke-poke-poke-poke-poke.
Her eyes shot open and she batted away the contact groggily. Liss was in her face leaning over her with a fearful whisper. “Beka-- Beka-- he’s-- he’s awake--”
Rebeka rubbed her face tiredly, grimacing as she became reacquainted to the gross smell that still clung to her since the incident with the cave giant. She grimaced and glanced down at her hands briefly. The slime had dried to her hands, making her feel all sticky and gross. She was still shocked at all that had happened, not sure if it was all real, and wasn’t sure how to take all of it. Her gaze shifted forward to where her little sister directed her attention. The sun had already risen high in the sky, casting its peaceful glow into the cave. The giant was sitting at the mouth of the cave, seeming to mess with an oversized leather satchel. His clothes were still stained with blood, though his injuries seemed to have closed up already, judging by the fact that he wore no bandages and they weren’t actively bleeding.
He glanced over his shoulder towards the two humans with a raised brow. “Ya know I can fuckin’ hear ya, right?”
Liss let out a startled yelp and hid behind Rebeka. Rebeka sat up, biting her lip shakily. “W-who…” She took in a deep breath as she got to her feet, feeling dizzy from the motion, but leaned against the cave wall for support. She frowned slightly as she found her words. “Who are you? Why did you help us? Wh-what the heck is happening to my home?”
Eli snorted with a shrug, leaning against the wall of the mouth of the cave as he set down his bag. “Already toldja who I was, unless ya have a shitty memory. No clue what happened to the town though. Guess the monsters all decided to come out of hidin’ like a buncha fuckin’ idiots. Looks like we missed the burnin’ though. Nothin’ really seems to be left now.”
He got to his feet outside the cave, towering above the entrance as Rebeka digested these words. She felt empty. Autumn Ridge was gone?
“Warren.” Her eyes widened. Warren was the next town over in a hospital (or at least she was told). How could she know if he was safe? “Oh god..” She reached for her phone, only to recall having dropped it earlier.
Eli noticed her expression. “He’s alive. Probably. He’s just in the middle of that hellhole though. It’ll be impossible to go out there with the monsters guarding the down though. No tellin’ how far they took over though or how much they planned.” He sighed, rubbing his forehead and ignored her stunned expression. He had been told about this moment of history ever since he was a child. He just had never believed it would ever happen. The apocalypse that would reclaim the land for the monsters and drive humanity to extinction. This scared even him. He didn’t know what to expect. Rhyka’s words about something big coming were true. It was already here.
“How do you… You know Warren?”
“Yeh. Used to be a monster hunter. A fuckin’ pathetic one too.” He smirked slightly. “C’mon. He should be ‘round the edge of the town. We might have a small shot in gettin’ him outta there while the daylight lasts, and I ain’t babysitting you here for ya to get gobbled up by some other cave giant.”
He rolled his eyes and began walking through the forest. Liss began to exit the cave after the giant and glanced nervously at him, then back at her older sister. “Warren hunted monsters?”
Rebeka held out her hand to hold Liss back as the little sister began to follow before debating her odds here. She bit her lip briefly before letting go to follow close beside Liss. Everything was dangerous now. Having a bigger ally was their only chance of survival.
“Ya deaf? Yeah that’s what I just said, tiny. He tried to hunt me and did a fuckin’ awful job at it. Then ended up screwin’ up at it. Ya really don’t remember me?” He glanced down at the sisters with a smirk. He had seen both of them before when he was trapped in camo form, though he looked very different then. Rebeka’s brow furrowed briefly in thought. Eli let out a chuckle. “‘Bout a month or two ago. The random dude who gave him a ride home from a car race in a fucked-up pickup truck.”
Rebeka’s eyes widened in realization. “What--! You were-- you were normal-sized!”
“Ya mean tiny. I’m normal-sized. Y’all are just… eensy.” He gestured “tiny” with his fingers pinched together with an amused snort. “It’s called camo. It’s how giants managed to avoid humans’ radar for hundreds of years.”
The giant paused towards the edge of the forest, looking down the hillside. The town was in ruins. Fire and rubble were everywhere. Plumes of smoke arose from the burning houses. Cars were smashed in the streets. In the middle of the town, slumped against the town hall, three massive fifty foot tall giants with stony-grey skin lay fast asleep. Eli shook his head with a whistle of awe. “Well look at that. Seems they were redecorating. Fuckin’ fantastic.”
Rebeka stopped behind him and covered her mouth to withhold a gasp of terror. Liss began to cry, hugging her leg. “God…” She choked.
“Ain’t gonna get to your brother from here. Gotta make our way around first. C’mon. Quick.” Eli’s nose wrinkled from the scent of the smoke and blood coming from the town. He assumed any threats from the town were sleeping off any meals they had gathered during the raid, so they only had a small window of time before dusk to try to retrieve Warren and Olivia from the shop ruins.
It was late afternoon by the time they reached the opposite edge of town. They only had mere hours before dusk when the monsters would likely awaken again. The town was a ghost town. Though Eli could still smell humans hiding within the city, they were all likely too afraid to come out of hiding. It was safe enough to walk within the crumbling streets. Houses were cracked and tilted sideways from the earthquakes. Large boulders from the landslide had fallen over even the most durable buildings, burying them in rubble. The giant eventually found the alchemist shop and bones cracked and shifted as he shrank down to his camo size.
He could smell another scent in here and he didn’t like it. Rebeka watched in shock as the giant became deceivingly human right before her eyes and hesitantly followed into the shop and followed him towards the back, keeping Liss close. Eli stopped at the top of the staircase to the basement, cursing in his throat. “Ugh, crap.”
The entire basement had caved in. The stench of old blood was overwhelming. Rebeka stopped behind him, looking up at the camo’d giant. “W-what? What happened? Where is he?”
“We got here too late.” He muttered. He turned and froze, sniffing the air again. They weren’t alone here. His eyes narrowed and he drew out his claws. “Quit hidin’ there. I can fuckin’ smell ya, ya know.”
There was a shuffle behind the aisles and shelves of herbs and jars. A figure stepped into sight. He was tall and well-toned with an athletic build. He was wearing a pair of sunglasses over his eyes and held out an orb of golden ice.
Eli withdrew his claws, rolling his eyes. “Ah great. The U.L. is here. We’re saved. The hell happened here, and don’t fuckin’ play dumb with me.”
“I was about to ask the same.”
He threw the ice at the giant. His hands instinctively went out to brace himself from the throw, causing the alchemic ice to contact his hands, melting into his hands instantly. Eli shivered, ducking to the floor at the weird sensation of it coming into effect.
Rebeka gasped, standing in front of him. “What did you do? Stop!”
“Putting down a pest,” The man came closer, rolling up his sleeve. Eli hissed through his teeth. “The fuck? I wasn’t even tryina fight ya!” Eli tried to stand, but the man quickly pushed Rebeka aside and grabbed him by the collar. With a swift motion, he clocked him in the face, knocking him out instantly. The giant slumped to the floor unconscious.
“What are you-- Stop! He was trying to help us!” Rebeka felt Liss move behind her leg. The man ignored her, beginning to hoist the unconscious giant off of the floor into a fireman’s carry. “Please, you’re just confused. You don’t know this monster. If you were looking for the people who were in this shop, they’re already gone. I’ll take you to them. You just have to trust me, okay?”
Rebeka scanned his face nervously, but she didn’t have much of a choice. She bit her lip and nodded. She squeezed her sister’s hand in her fist and followed closely after the stranger into the street. Outside, a Jeep wrangler awaited. The man tied Eli’s hands together and put him in the back seat of the car. Rebeka followed into the car, seating her sister in her lap, just not trusting herself enough to let go of her sister for now. Everything was confusing and she was afraid. She hoped to god Warren was okay.
“My name is East. I’m sorry for everything the monsters might’ve put you through. We have people tracking monsters constantly, though we never anticipated anything like this.” He drove down the crumpling streets, keeping a shotgun in his lap at the ready.
“H-how bad is it?”
East sighed, drumming his fingers along the steering wheel. “It’s tough to tell. They planned this ahead and cut out the cell towers so it’s hard to reach other towns to gage the scale of this.”
Rebeka let out a nervous sigh, noticing Liss scoot toward the window to watch the crumpled remains of their hometown to pass by. They were using the roads towards the outskirts of the city, so they had avoided most of the damage in their path, though it could still be seen in the distance. She back at the rearview mirror to search East’s face. “You won’t hurt Eli-- the giant, will you? He saved our lives.”
“It depends on how much he’ll resist on giving us intel on this attack.” The hunter responded grimly. The car turned toward a country road and left the city in its rearview mirrors as the sun began to descend. Its golden flames were choked out by the smoke along the horizon that spread high into the darkening sky.

Sacrifice
SO, this is angst based on an episode from TVD, which I used to watch. I had in mind almost recreating an episode but then thought “nahhh” So at least I tried to innovate!
This is a one shot, so no updates after that because I love making people suffer, obviously.
Slight OOCness, because it’s a rather dark world.
TRIGGER WARNING : Major character death + mental issues that are camouflaged but not that much
----------------------------------------------------------
One does not decide their fate. You are born from your mother, grow and meet people, if fate is merciful, you meet the one you were created to love. You spend a lifetime with them, you learn how to love, how to care, how to live. You get to understand what it is like to choose for the first time. And, after a life worth of adventures, stories and feelings, you are put to rest.
Once upon a time Ichigo and Orihime believed in this reality. Believed that life could be harsh, but they would climb out of the pit of darkness to reach the sunlight, and enjoy it.
.
.
.
Like all days, it was sunny. In their minds, the vast grass filed in front of them was always illuminated, the light breeze always brought new and known scents to their noses, and they could feel whole again. They could feel the warmth of the Sun, the touch of the other on their hand. The whisper of the wind caressing their ears.
In their inner world, all was alright. All was safe and loving.
The exterior world was corrupted by uncaring people. It was dark and messy and cruel, nothing good could ever come out of it.
Especially people.
Their families had left, stolen away by the frightening death that loomed over each human being. From the father, whose childish behavior always pushed Ichigo out of his skin to the sisters and the brother that loved their sibling in the purest way possible. The sisters looked out for their brother, asking for his protection and his support. The brother watched over his sister, calming her when the world was latching onto her, pulling her out of the black waters of her mind.
But now, all this happiness they could vaguely remember had been taken away. Vanished, disappeared in thin air. Where did they go? Where were they all now? In the sky or in the dirt?
There were no such things as an answer.
“Let’s get going, Orihime.”
The rough voice brought another wide smile on her face. She felt his hand hold hers tenderly, and nodding her head, Orihime followed him docily, letting him lead the way, like he always did.
The world was upside down : debris of buildings here and there, some gigantic from a building or a skyscraper, others small enough to step on. Blocks of stones and piles of wood and iron littered the floor, waiting for more scavengers to dig in them, try to find what was essential to live.
But living was not possible anymore. Not after bombs were dropped on Japan. It was said it was that way all over the world, but no one could say for sure. Was it true the world was destroyed by a radioactive menace? Was it true that the peoples of the Earth were reduced to nothing but wandering all day long to survive for another day?
Orihime could never know. Her world was a golden field with a orange-haired man sitting next to her.
Ichigo talked to her. Explained what he saw, what he felt, what was happening aroudn them. Anything he knew Orihime would love, he described it to her, from a rare seagull to a tiny sprout on the ground, trying its hardest to get some energy. Many times, Ichigo would snark a remark, something along the lines of “it’s fighting to exist, just like us.”. Orihime could do nothing but hold his hand tighter.
For months now, they walked the day to stop at night, cuddling closer no matter the heat of the weather, holding the other close. Closing her eyes didn’t change a thing : she was still in the field with him. She was still watching his traits shift to something relaxed and she was still amazed by him.
Ichigo shifted closer to her, taking the light bag off her back to let her poor spine breathe a little.
“What are you thinking about?”
She smiled. What an obvious question.
“You.”
She heard him chuckle, the sound soft.
“Ah, even in this situation, you keep on saying that.”
Orihime felt his other hand on the top of her head, caressing the not so souple hair, pushing a few strands out of her face, not that it mattered anyway. She didn’t say anything, only placed her chin against his hand.
Even in this situation, where the world she couldn’t see anymore was destroyed, their families and friends dead, Orihime would still be strong enough to smile. If it was fate to live, and if things happened for a reason, then all the suferring of today would vanish tomorrow, and they would meet again in the golden fields.
.
.
.
When two people travel together in a hostile place, it has its advantages and its inconvenients.
The first being only worrying about one person. No time wasted thinking about a potential individual that got lost. And with Orihime not being able to walk two steps alone, it was easy to stick together. The food, found in a deserted cafeteria or an abandoned house, was also easy to share.
The second... Their number was low, and if they encountered any threat, it was hard to outrun it, or to fight it. Orihime was Ichigo’s number one priority. Always had, always will be. But that only pushed him deeper into the danger.
And it was during the night they would feel the weakest. Ichigo could stand watch, not Orihime. Orihime could sleep, not Ichigo.
When one dreamed of the same place with the same person, the other was haunted by the nightmares of the reality laid bare in front of him. Destroyed houses, rotting corpses, violence in each corner.
One does not decide their fate. They are born with protection in their names, and it is their way of life to live by it. It is not their choice what they see or what they think.
He can’t help but think he should travel alone, leave Orihime to a safer place and come back to her once in a while with what she needs.
But if thinking is not up to him, then feeling is.
He can’t bear it. The thought of letting her be alone. Without him. He aches the moment he thinks of leaving her. So he doesn’t.
He aches the moment he sees her white eyes focus on nothing but her last memory of him, of them, in the field near a barn they used to like.
He aches when he knows how much she must suffer from being stuck in one place.
But because he feels and because those feelings lead him, he keeps them going. In a way, he started to believe fate would be kind after it is cruel. Maybe they will get better soon.
Until he knows they won’t.
Scavengers, unknown men and women, hiding behind old rusted glasses and torn rags encounter them one day. Without any discussion, any word, they attack them, they push them to the ground to rob them. Ichigo wants to fight, but Orihime grabs his hand, his arm, his body to have him close.
The golden fields in her head are starting to burn.
The foreigners attach them far away from each other. Ichigo is near an old electric pole, tied smartly, no chances of him getting out without getting injuried. Orihime on her side, she is told to sit near the fire, because what can a blind girl do? She can’t run, she can’t escape, she can’t help.
The golden fields in her head are burning now.
Ichigo watches her cry, clear tears coming out of foggy eyes, her head tilted to the sky, not daring to speak. And he sense she’s lossing it.
Not because they are seperated by a few meters. Not because he’s not holding her hand. Because she, who couldn’t see the world, couldn’t perceive how evil it had turned, encoutered it by herself. And the only safe place, physically and mentally, was getting ripped away from her.
Ichigo tried to fight his bounds. He tried to have this tiny shape of light and hope in his mind, that the day he would have fate on his side was here. That he could free himself, and her, and go back home.
It lasted for hours. Her crying, his pulling. Both were silent, one to not bring attention, the other too shocked and petrified to move.
Maybe it was luck, maybe it was fate, but they managed to get out. Ichigo shuffled his hands out of the ropes, pretending to sleep as a guard looked down on him. He turned around and the orange-haired man stood up abruptly to wrap an arm around his neck, suffocating him enough to make the lad fall unconcsious on the ground.
.
.
.
But there was nothing he could now.
The fire of reality and fate had burned the golden fields.
There was no Sun. No wind. No gentleness, no caress. The orange wasn’t just a mass of hair next to her anymore. It was all she could feel, from the sky to the clouds. The ground was dark and bloody, the piece only shrinking into chaos.
She couldn’t walk anymore. She couldn’t run, or hide, or talk or anything! All was gone! All she hoped, all she yearned, all she saw was gone!
Even the hand on her arm, the same as always, the same touch and same pressure on her skin, it was different, and it was bad.
Everything hurt. Nothing was bearable anymore.
“Orihime, please... We gotta go now, or they’ll get to us...”
“I don’t want to move.”
He stopped pulling her arm, instead cupping her face. She couldn’t feel his eyes on her own. All was gone.
“What? Hime, come on, now is not the best time...”
“Why... Why are we doing this?”
Ichigo didn’t answer, nor did he asked what she was talking about. He only hissed an insult. Orihime’s void eyes blinked, and she waved her hands to him, messily touching his sides. It was wet.
“I don’t want... I can’t have this anymore! I can’t get going like this! And neither can you, Ichigo... So please... Let’s go home.”
Her hand pushed against the fabric of his vest in a relfex to stop the bleeding he had gotten from the guard. She had heard some fighting by Ichigo’s side, but he had assured her he was fine.
Liar.
“Orihime...”
“Don’t tell me can’t!” Tears kept spilling, getting in her mouth, on the side of her nose, dropping on the floor. “I’m tired, tired of doing all this! I’m tired of suffering everyday, of knowing you suffer too! What kind of life could we have here! Huh? Nothing!”
“... I know.”
“I just want to be home... Just want to feel the sun on my face again...”
A little click was heard, and Orihime closed her eyes, lips curling into a smile. Ichigo breathed out, voice shaking but calm and determined.
“... We’re going back home. To Sora, to Yuzu and Karin. To my father and mother.”
Ichigo pulled them close, sliding a cold and hard gun in Orihime’s hand, their foreheads brought together to feel warmth.
“I can’t wait to meet them... And so that I can talk to Sora about you. He’ll be glad.”
“I’m nervous... I hope he’ll like me.”
The two chuckled, and Orihime leaned closer to gently kiss him on the lips.
“He will.”
One does not decide their fate. You are born from your mother, grow and meet people, if fate is merciful, you meet the one you were created to love. You spend a lifetime with them, you learn how to love, how to care, how to live. You get to understand what it is like to choose for the first time. Once upon a time Ichigo and Orihime believed in this reality. Believed that life could be harsh, but they would climb out of the pit of darkness to reach the sunlight, and enjoy it.
They were not always surrounded by light. They were not always surrounded by warmth.
They knew they wouldn’t be in the sky or in the ground.
They knew where their place was.
They knew where the sunlight was, the same place they would feel warmth, always.
There were two loud bangs. One soft thud, as their bodies fell together.
Then laughter, the golden fields perfect again, with the new Sun, the new wind, the new caresses, and the joy of meeting new faces.
Now, and forever, they were put to rest, and fate would never be cruel again.
----------------------------------------------------------
I’m not certain that people will like it, since I wrote that in an hour and with a loud loud mind.
I hope you guys do not hate me too much haha

Bakugo x Yandere Reader
Tumblr media
You loved Bakugo. You loved him so much you would do anything for him. I mean anything. Even though you were the quiet student in the class and never talked much you always had an eye for the loud-mouthed, overconfident boy.
It all started back in your college course when you were in the middle of training, you were in groups of two and you were paired with Bakugo, in an abandoned building looking for citizens trapped in the building. You were walking through the building with Bakugo trailing behind you. The building was unstable and each step you took had to be a smart one, to avoid one not falling and two not getting crushed. It was quiet and the only thing you were able to hear was you and Bakugo breathing and rocks falling all around you from the unstable building. “Get out the way dumbass” Bakugo pushed you behind him to blast the falling debris from crushing you. On the floor you watch Bakugo walk towards “Be careful next time extra” From that day forward you made a vow to yourself that you will protect Bakugo and not let anyone get too close to him that looks like they mean harm.
It’s been a couple of weeks since the ‘special interaction’ with Bakugo and you have been watching his every move since then and it’s been very easy since the whole class stays in the dorms. The first week he would wake up, shower, eat, train, study, train, shower and go to bed. That was just the weekend schedule. It was easy to memorize his weekend schedule but his weekday schedule had you wondering what he was up to.  He would get up train, shower, go to class, eat lunch, and stay after school every Tuesday and Thursday and some days go off schedule which leads you searching for him from a far distance. After he returns to the dorms he goes straight to bed and repeats it the next day.
It was lunchtime and you were standing in the far corner of the lunchroom watching Bakugo interaction with another girl. You watch the way the girl interacts with Bakugo and how Bakugo is entertaining the girl, they start walking out the lunchroom together side by side. The sight before you made your blood boil and you didn’t like the girl, not one bit. You slow trail behind them Listening to their conversations. “So we're meeting at the park today right?” the girl asks, clinging to his arm. “Yes if it makes you feel better babe~” Your eyes widen feeling your body getting hot and not from the temperature. The sentence repeats over and over in your mind as you clench your fist in anger. “Ummm l/n are you okay” a voice from behind you speaks. You drive your fist into the locker leaving a dent. You take a deep breath and turn around to be faced to Midoriya, Iida, and Uraraka with a concerned look on their face. “Ohh I’m fine” smiling innocently “Are you sure L/N, you just punched the locker and left a pretty big dent in it,” Iida says moving his arms in a robotic motion. You look at the locker and back at the group in front of you “Just not feeling the best, but I’ll be fine” You say walking away from the group. You quickly walked to the bathroom, slamming the door and locked it. You walk over to the sink splashing water on your face to calm down and collect your thoughts. You look up in the mirror chest heaving up and down. “Hah? Babe? This can’t be right… Is this why he stayed after school?” you questioned yourself only to be riled up again. Letting out a sardonic laugh, you drive your fist into the mirror causing it to crack and pieces falling onto the ground left in shatter and you fist bleeding “Guess I have to take things into my own hands since people don’t know how to stay away from things that are mines.” running your bloody hands through your hair.
You went back to the dorms and changed into something more fitting for what you're planning to do. You put on a black oversized hoodie, black sweatpants, and so black combat boots. You stuffed your pockets with some black gloves and a black mask. You got to your closet pulling out a big blue chest that is covered in dust. You wipe the dust off and open the chest up. Your eyes shimmered at the sight before you, it was a chest full of different weapons from daggers to axes, a metal bat and even a machete. ‘Do I want to go for an instant kill or watch her suffer’ you thought “We’ll just have to see which one happens first” you say picking up the dagger and the axe stuffing it in the waistband of your sweats. You knew how to use every tool in the chest. You did your research about the right penetrate to get the perfect results of death or enough time to watch them suffer rather than die instantly. You close the chest, lock it and push it back into your closet. You left your room heading to the park where Bakugo and the girl were meeting. “Hey, l/n where you’re going?” Momo questioned. Half of the class was in the common rule playing games, “Umm running a few errands I’ll be back later.” You say slipping out the door. Everyone in the common room shared a look of concern. Yeah, you were distant with everyone but you never left the dorms useless you had to. You had a perfect image of the girl and had enough time to do what you needed to do before Bakugo gets to the park.
You were walking down the street till you saw the girl you were looking for. Speeding up your pace, you pull your mask up to cover your face but your eyes and put on the gloves, you look around to make sure no one would see you and the girl. Timing the perfect time to pull her into the upcoming alley. You grabbed her arm and covered her mouth with your other hand swinging her into the alley. She was taller than you but that didn’t stop you from pushing her up against the wall. Her screams were muffled from you covering her mouth with your cotton gloves, when she got a look at you she calmed down, you slowly removed your hand from her mouth reaching into your pocket to grab your dagger. “I Have a few questions for you and I suggest you answer them for me quickly so I can get this over with.” “ Who are you supposed to be?” “Doesn’t matter, What is Bakugo to you?” Her eyes slightly widen at your questioned but she plays it off “He a friend of mine, is there a problem” You notice she had a sass in her tone so you decided to give a little sass back “Yea, he belongs to someone” You say pushing the dagger into her stomach with a sadistic smile on your face The girl gasp feeling the dagger pressing into her skin. “Now what is Bakugo to you and please be honest so I won’t use this on you” She takes a deep breath and struggling to keep her composure “H-he’s  m-my boyfriend, we've been together for a good t-two m-mouths” You grin grows wide “Do you think he’ll come to save you?” Looking up at her through your long lashes, teary blue eyes meeting your e/c eyes filled with rage. “I-I don’t know” “Good, do you think he’ll miss you?” Pushing the dagger deeper into her stomach causing her to scream out a yes. You cover her mouth “What the fuck are you doing? Do you want to get caught? Cause if we get caught I’ll have no choice but to kill you. Do you want that?” She slowly shakes her head no, tears finally falling down her face and hair sticking to the wet part of her face. You finally pull off your mask taking a deep breath “ You know you're a really pretty girl when you cry, I want you to get a good look at my face then go get help, okay?” She nodded her head scanning your face. You push the dagger into her stomach to the point it breaks the skin and starts to bleed, staining her white shirt. Muffled cries filled the alley as her body jerks forward to hold her wound. “ I know I already said this but I just feel like you're not listening but this is the last thing I’m going to tell you and you can go get help. But you’re pretty but you just got to know your place Bakugo Mines and I don’t care what he told you. You don’t mess with someone’s prized possession. Now run” grinning as you pull the dagger out. She limps her way out the alley at a slow pace. You pull out the axe that was sitting in the waistband of your sweatpants and throw it at her back, piercing the spinal cord, causing her to fall forward onto the ground. She starts clawing at the ground attempting to get out the alley. You walk up behind her putting your foot on her back putting pressure on it while grabbing the axe. She turns around to face you crying and blood falling from her mouth. Smiling, you bring the axe over your head with both hands.  “Should have moved quicker bitch”  brings down the axe in the middle of her head. The blood splatters everywhere, on the nearby building, the ground and your face.  You take a deep breath, rolling your neck, you pull the axe out her head, just for more blood to be splatter on your face, stuffing the axe back in between your waistband. You grab the girl by the hair and pull her back into the alley leaving a bloody trail to her body behind the dumpster. You wipe your face the best you could to get the blood off to return to the dorms.
You pull your mask on and put your hood on as you make your way to the doors of the dorm. Pushing the door open everyone looks at you and your dark form. You stop in the middle of the room with your back face to everyone “Is everything okay?” You ask in an innocent but taunting tone sending chills down everyone back. You walk upstairs to your room without saying another word. You got in your room pulling off your clothes and setting them on the floor by your closet. You pull the axe and dagger out and sit it on the clothes next to you and clean it off with the hoodie. Pulling the chest out and unlocking it you put the weapons back into the chest and locking it back. You grab some clothes and a towel and make your way down to the shower.
You turn the shower on letting the hot water run over your skin painted in blood. Watching the blood slowly wash away from your face, running your hands in your head you began to scrub your skin clean from today's job. ‘That was easier than I thought’
After a while, you made the perfect plan to get Katsuki Bakugo to yourself and you had backup plans just in case things don’t go your way. You were willing to put up a fight to get what truly belongs to you
