First Night

Summary: YN and Pato spend their first night together
Previous Parts: I
me posting?? who is she. i hope you all love please repost if you do 🤍🤍
~
Pato had arrived at her house the next night to take her out once again. They went on a series of 6 dates in two weeks, and had become quite enamored with each other in that time. YN was hesitant at first, trying to keep her guard up while she waited for the other shoe to drop, but Pato had wormed his way in. It was hard to not let her walls down and let him in when he was so incredibly sweet.
Their second date Pato picked her up in a rented Toyota Corolla which made YN giggle when she saw it. “You actually rented a car to pick me up in?”
“I’m on my third strike and I couldn't risk it.”
Pato knew when he first saw her that she was special, but never expected to fall as hard and as fast as he had. He had come to expect that he was not seen as “boyfriend material” for most women. He knows his schedule and frequent travel doesn’t scream commitment. He had gotten used to a few dates, maybe a couple hookups, and not much more. He tried to convince himself he was okay with that. That the one night stands were fun and he needed to focus on his career anyways, and he was fulfilled by it. It worked– sometimes.
It worked until he’d watch a cheesy romance movie and think about how much he wanted someone to be by his side, or until he had a kid come up so him at a race, a gap in their front teeth and incredibly excited to meet him, and he realized how much he wanted a family of his own.
So he cut off the hookups, because after each one he would be left with this lasting feeling of emptiness, and he’d stopped going on dates for the most part, accepting that his career has prevented him from what he really wanted. If it hadn’t been for Elba’s incessant nagging, he wouldn’t have gone on the date with YN. He’s never been more thankful to have such an annoying older sister.
He invited YN over so he could cook dinner for her, and he was suddenly very nervous about how the night would go. He had tried to plan the perfect night, decorating his table with a large vase of red roses and candles, but as she got closer to arriving he started to doubt himself and wonder if it was too much. He doesn’t want a repeat of their first date where she was clearly overwhelmed.
Before he could think too much about it or change anything, his doorbell rang, and he decided to just try and make the best of the night. The second he opened the door he felt a lot better, she had that effect on him, just seeing her seemed to lower his heart rate and calm him down. She looked absolutely gorgeous in a pair of dark jeans and a cropped sweater.
“Hi!” She greeted him with the sweetest smile and he realized how utterly gone he was for her.
“Hi, you look beautiful.” He kissed the corner of her mouth, a quick gesture but even that made his stomach flip, and moved aside so she could come in.
She had seen his apartment before, but only briefly when he realized he left his phone after he picked her up, and invited her inside. He could tell she was really taking in the place now, the night time made it seem different, softer, the few lights he had on cast a soft glow through the place.
The timer on his phone went off and he headed towards the oven to take out dinner. He made pasta for the night, and it was in the oven to bake the cheese he topped it with. It was when they reached the kitchen that she took note of the dining table.
“Is it too much? I’m sorry if it is; I just wanted tonight to go perfect and I’ve messed it up already.” He started apologizing without her saying anything.
“It’s gorgeous. I can't believe you set this all up and thought I wouldn’t like it.” YN assures him, and kisses him hard trying to show him all of her gratitude.
“I’m glad you like it.”
Dinner is easy, like most things have become between them. YN has never felt so comfortable with someone, and wants to tell him everything. Pato already wants YN to know the deepest parts of him, he wants to learn her inside and out and vice versa.
The thing they’ve taken to talking to most is their families, and they’ve learned so much about each other through that. They both have one sibiling, their best friend, and they’re both extremely close to their families. In a lot of ways YN reminds him of Elba, when she talks about her younger sister he can tell how much he cares for her. She tells him about how she used to watch her sister frequently while her mom worked two jobs to support them. In a sense he feels like he’s met her sister and mother, the way she describes them he can tell there’s so much love between them.
They’ve completely gone through the getting to know you stage, conversations now filled with stories and deep conversations about fears and the future.
After dinner they settle onto the couch, and are scrolling for something to watch. Pato has a large, comfy sectional, but YN has chosen to curl up right against him. It sends a warmth through him, he can smell the mix of her strawberry shampoo and vanilla perfume, and decides it is his new favorite smell. He wraps his arm around her and she leans on his shoulder.
They scroll through netflix and find a baking show to spend the rest of the night watching. It was less about what they were watching for both of them, and more about just being together; however, they both got quite into the show, enjoying watching the competition and judging the bakers themselves.
As the night went on, YN grew pretty drowsy on the couch, and after an episode ended announced, “I should probably head home soon.”
When she sat up, Pato immediately missed the weight of her against him. “Ok, I guess it is getting pretty late.”
She kissed him then, “Thank you for dinner.”
“I’ll make dinner more often if that’s what it gets me.” She laughs at his response and leans in for another kiss.
The kiss quickly deepens, but it’s soft and slow. YN moves herself to be sitting on his lap, knees bracketing his hips. Up until this point they haven’t done anything other than kissing and heavy petting. Pato desperately wanted to know every inch of YN, but knows that if he does what he has always done the results will always be the same. Plus the teasing has been incredibly hot, and he’s willing to wait for her.
When they pull away from each other they’re both a little breathless. Pato can feel his heartbeat in his throat, and is glad the room is dark because he’s sure there’s a pink tint across his face. He speaks before he can stop himself, “Don’t go.”
YN freezes in her spot perched in his lap, “What?”
“I don’t want you to leave. Stay, I’ll sleep on the couch if you want, we don’t have to do anything, just don’t go.” He’s begging at this point, but he really can’t stand the thought of her leaving him.
“You don’t have to sleep on the couch.” She leans in for another kiss, so soft he almost doesn’t feel it.
He gently coaxes her off his lap and leads her to his room. He grabs them both some pajamas from his dresser. He gives her a pair of sweatpants and an arrow mclaren hoodie, remembering that she’d told him she freezes in the night.
He got out an extra toothbrush for her, and showed her where his face wash and medicine was. While she got ready, he got dressed himself. They switched places when she came out of the bathroom.
As she waited for him she looked around his room, not what she expected, but she didn’t really know what she expected. He had a white comforter and sheets on the bed, with black and copper throw pillows. The furniture is black metal and dark wood, giving an industrial but homey vibe to the room.
He leaves the bathroom and YN takes the opportunity to really sink him in. He’s in a pair of grey sweatpants that make her a little crazy, and a tight white long sleeve that hugs his biceps so perfectly she’s drooling.
They climb into his bed together and YN immediately notices his smell enveloping her. He smells woodsy and warm. YN notices that they both climbed into opposite sides without thinking about it, another way they fit so perfectly together.
Pato lays on his back and YN hesitates before curling into his side. He wraps his arms around her shoulder and she entangles her leg with his and rests her hand on his chest, “Is this ok?” She asks him.
He can’t believe she even has to ask because he’s never been better. “Perfect.”
She starts absentmindedly scratching at his chest, and the last thing she remembers before drifting off is Pato kissing her head and whispering, “Buenas noches.”
That was the first of many nights spent together for YN and Pato. Already fallen for each other much more than either was willing to admit. Their souls as intertwined as their legs.

Heyyy. Could you do a CandyBat fic about the immediate aftermath of the Tasty treats ep? Thank you 🙏
Of course. I’ve been avoiding writing about tender treats specifically because I didn’t want to misrepresent anything but hopefully this is okay. I just kinda started writing and didn’t stop. Not really sure what to title this though. I hope everyone enjoys.
Kevin should’ve gone home immediately. As soon as the coast was clear, should’ve gone right home.
There had been a sinking pit in Kevin’s stomach for the rest of his shift. He should’ve listened to it. Not convince himself it was all in his head.
That might be Kevin’s biggest regret of the night. He should’ve been faster.
Thinking back on it now, Kevin has a lot regrets tonight.
He should’ve called the police immediately.
He should’ve kept those two gremlins in sight so they couldn’t cause any more damage to anyone else.
He should’ve . . .
Kevin stands up with a growl. He stomps his (good) foot hard against the vinyl floor. The pain shoots up his calf before dispersing, leaving the bottom of his foot sore. He wants to stomp (and scream and cry and break things and just absolutely die) more but looking around at the other bereft and grieving visitors, he sits back down.
He’s not the only one in pain.
Kevin resorts to clenching his hands, digging his nails into his palms as hard as he can.
It doesn’t help.
“Uh, hel—hello, d—dear. Kevin, right?”
Kevin looks up. A tall woman with long dark hair he recognises to be the mom to one of the gremlins. Skeleton one’s mom, Kevin thinks. Lila was it?
“Yea—“ Kevin’s throat has been closed for hours now, his voice thick and wavering. He clears his throat before he can sound any more pathetic to this lady. “Yeah. Why?”
Lila’s face goes from slightly nervous to full of pity. Kevin watches it in real time. Somehow she knows. Normally that wouldn’t bother him, he’s proud of himself and strangers can fuck off about it. But normally strangers frown at him. They don’t look at him like this.
It’s making it too real.
Kevin looks down at the floor. He wants to crawl away from this woman.
“I just wanted to thank you, dear, for protecting my son.” The woman sits down in the chair next to his. So she’s staying then. Great.
Kevin wants to scoff but shrugs instead. He wants to be rude, tell her he doesn’t care about her son, but that’d be a lie. If he didn’t care, he would’ve ran from the store the minute her son showed up. But he does blame her son.
Not that he’s going to tell her that. “What kind of person wouldn’t, if they were in my position?” Kevin tries to play it cool, keep his tone light, but everything’s flashing through his head, the recall instant and blurry but oh so overwhelming.
Kevin’s heart picks up again and his hands start trembling for the umpteenth time tonight. It’s more than just his hands. His legs are shaking and his skin’s crawling and it’s fuzzy. Everything feels fuzzy and he can’t breathe again.
The tears drip onto the floor before Kevin can wipe them away. The lady definitely noticed now. Kevin’s about to get up and leave when he’s suddenly trapped.
Lila’s got her arms wrapped around him and he’s stunned. He doesn’t know what to do.
“Oh dear. It’s okay. You don’t have to pretend.” Lila sounds just like any mother should and despite her not being his own, Kevin is drawn into the comfort. He buries his face in her shoulder and cries quietly. Her sweater is soaked in under a minute with how hard Kevin is letting himself cry.
Kevin couldn’t help reliving tonight’s events.
He stayed behind to clean up with Rick after being attacked. Neither called the cops about it. They really should’ve. Why didn’t he?
Still, Kevin didn’t start walking home until after the shop was clean and locked up.
He only started running after he noticed the sirens following him. They weren’t after him, they were just going where he was going. When the ambulance passed him, Kevin booked it.
Kevin had never run so fast in his life.
The crowd around his home was massive, it had to be the entire neighbourhood plus some. Kevin played it off, of course there’d be a crowd. Streber goes all out every year and he’s always a hit.
Except the ambulance parked on the front lawn was a new addition that had Kevin’s heart sinking.
He should’ve been faster.
Kevin had to muscle his way through his neighbours to find out what happened, all while hearing glimpse of gossip.
“Poor man—“
“His arm—“
“He’ll never be the same—“
Right there, on their shared porch steps, was Streber.
EMTs were strapping him to a stretcher. They were acting fast but Kevin found himself wanting to shout at them to hurry up.
There was so much blood, Kevin couldn’t actually see Streber underneath it all.
He ran to the EMTs, ran to Streber.
“Is he okay?! Wha—what happened?!” Kevin couldn’t hear himself over the sound of his heart in his ears.
“Excuse me sir,” the third EMT who wasn’t holding the stretcher placed a gentle hand on Kevin’s chest, keeping him at bay. “You’re gonna need to step back. We’re taking the patient to the hospital now. Are you his family?”
Kevin was nodding before he really knew what he was nodding too. The EMT guided him to the ambulance where Streber was being looked at by the other two officers. He was in a daze at this point.
The ride to the hospital was blurry and fast and Kevin held Streber’s bloody cape in his hands the entire time. It was wet and sticky with blood but Kevin didn’t notice. Or seem to care.
It wasn’t until he was finally sitting in the waiting room that Kevin’s mind finally settled. It was the cops who’d gotten his attention.
They’d explained everything.
That maniac broke out and went on a rampage for those two kids and attacked Streber in the process.
This was those kids’ faults just as it was Kevin’s.
It’s been hours now, and Streber’s still in surgery.
Each minute that passes kills Kevin just a little bit more.
Kevin cries in Lila’s shoulder for longer than he normally would’ve allowed himself but today’s a unique exception.
He pulls away to wipe his face. Lila does the same, giving Kevin a bit of room.
He’s about to apologise to the woman when there’s a loud bam at the end of the hallway. A doctor in messy scrubs hurries over. “Are you the family?”
Kevin immediately stands to his feet. This is it.
His heart is on hold and he can’t read the doctor at all.
“Yes! Me. It’s me. I’m the family.” Kevin trips over himself, a strange sense of pride welling in him from those words. In any other circumstances, Kevin’d probably smile and boast that he’s Streber’s family, because he is and always will be.
The doctor focuses on Kevin, staying unreadable. “The patient lost a lot of blood. We’ve closed the wound and started blood transfusions but we were unable to recover the patient’s arm to attempt reattachment. Unfortunately, the patient has lost his arm from the elbow joint down. This is an extremely life changing injury and he will need all the support he can get. You can see him now, but he won’t be awake for several more hours.”
The doctor turned around and started walking down the hall. Kevin immediately takes after him, his mind buzzing with questions, but not knowing where to start at all.
“But he’s going to be okay?” Kevin finally asks. The doctor nods, leading him to the post-op room where Streber is.
“Visiting hours will be over shortly. Someone will inform you when it’s time to leave but you may come back tomorrow when visiting hours have started.” The doctor stays at the doorway. Kevin nods, not looking back. He doesn’t know the doctor’s left until he hears the door jam click.
All Kevin can look at is Streber. He’s hooked up and unconscious in the most uncomfortable looking bed ever. If he were awake, he’d complain for sure how it’s not big enough like their giant, king sized bed at home. He’d probably also complain that the colour scheme here is too bright and plain. It’d be a joke of course, and Kevin would laugh.
Kevin’s feet drift forward, he’s stumbling to Streber’s side in an uncoordinated haste.
All cleaned up now, Kevin sees what the doctor was talking about. Streber’s arm is gone. There’s only a bandaged stump where his elbow would be.
Kevin can’t quite comprehend it. There should be an arm there, and a hand. A hand he knows very well. But there isn’t.
Thankfully there’s a chair close enough to the bed that Kevin’s legs can give out without him falling flat on his ass. He lands in the chair and reaches for the hand that isn’t there anymore.
Kevin was sure he’d cried all the tears he could earlier.
Seems he was wrong.
It’s just him and the quiet steady beeping of the hospital machines here. He cries, gripping the bed’s sheet where Streber’s hand should be.
Kevin isn’t sure if he’s crying in relief or in pain. It might both. Because he’s so goddamn relieved Streber is still here. But not all of him is. And Kevin knows it’s going to crush Streber when he wakes up to see what he’s lost.
Still. He’s here. And the doctor said he was going to be okay.
Kevin let’s that thought pacify him for the rest of the night.
Streber may not be whole, but he’s going to be okay.

“Now is not the time, Princess.”
“Then when? I’ve been awake for days now. I’m perfectly fine.”
“Yes, but-
“We need to talk about this eventually. I understand it’s not an easy topic to discuss, but you can’t avoid the subject forever. So you either talk to me, or I am going to start probing your memories!”
“There’s no need for that.” Chan assured. “Where do you want to start?”
When you had first woken up, you did need time to recover, and adjust to the waking world. You had a proper check up done, showing you to be perfectly healthy. Although that didn’t stop the need for lots of walks around the ship, and mental exercises. You were fine now, had been for a while, and had been asking about what happened. Each time the boys changed the subject, or said it wasn’t the time, but you were getting tired of waiting. You didn’t really want to know either, but you had to.
“My memories of that night are still hazy… but I want to know what happened after I was gone. That clan… they attacked the palace, so what exactly happened?”
“It was a coup, and a well executed one at that.” Chan explained. “We were outnumbered, and caught by surprise, with no chance to recover. It’s quite obvious we were betrayed.”
“Betrayed? By who?”
“We’re not entirely sure.” Minho admitted. “Things happened so fast, but given how the attack went down, it was most likely a palace guard… or more likely a royal guard.”
“A royal… you can’t be serious? Royal guards are like family. We grow up together. How can one of them betray us?”
“It’s all speculation right now, Princess. We don’t know for sure who, if anyone, actually betrayed us.”
“So how did everything go down? What happened to my family? What about the kingdom?”
“We tried to hold them back, but we were overwhelmed and scattered.” Hyunjin said. “By daybreak the royal family was captured, and the palace was taken over.”
“What happened when the people found out? When did they find out?”
“Once that clan was in control of the palace, they sent out an announcement to the kingdom, and all the regions. It was quick to cause an uproar. No one had ever dared to attack the royal family, or the palace before.”
“What about… what about all of you?”
“We escaped the initial take over of the palace.” Seungmin continued. “And when the people began to fight back, we figured that was our chance to infiltrate and take down that clan. Unfortunately that’s not how it went down. They had been prepared to subdue the people, and had increased their numbers within the palace, so we wound up getting captured.”
“They tortured you… didn’t they?”
“Yes, Princess.”
“I’m sorry…”
“You are not to blame for any of this.”
“It’s hard to believe that.”
“You did nothing-”
“What about my family? When did I… lose them?”
“Once the clan had the kingdom and the regions under control.” Jisung said. “The news of the royal family’s passing was spread through the lands. I’m sorry, Princess.”
“You mean they were killed…”
“Princess-”
“I’m not a princess… how can I… how can I be the only one left… I don’t even remember… I don’t remember what the last thing I said to them was…”
You suddenly broke down crying. For the last couple of days you had been holding yourself together. Trying to pretend that everything was okay, and your boys were playing along, but you knew you had to face reality at some point. Now that it had been spoken, that it was out in the open, you hit your breaking point. You couldn’t help the tears, finally letting everything out. Jisung quietly made his way to your side, pulling you into his arms. He rubbed your back and gently rocked you side to side.
“It’s okay, Princess. Let it all out, we’ve got you.”
“… how… how am I supposed to go home… there’s no one waiting for me…”
“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…”
You don’t know how long you cried for, but you exhausted all your tears, and yourself.  You were still shaking and sniffling, wallowing in all kinds of grief.
“How about we go lay down for a bit.” Changbin suggested. “Huh, Princess.”
“Don’t… don’t call me that…”
“Alright, come on now.”
Changbin figured you couldn’t stand on your own, so he picked you up in his arms. Jisung followed behind, and the others stayed put.
“We do need to figure out what we will and won’t tell her.” Felix said. “She is owed the truth but…”
“Somethings are better left unsaid.” Jeongin finished. “We should get our story in order.”
“Later.” Chan stated. “When the Princess is resting, and we’ll have time to ourselves.”
It was their job to protect you, and they had to make difficult choices to ensure that. If being truthful would actually help they would not hesitate, but a lot had changed, and they had to do what was best. At least some things had been said, giving you answers, so you didn’t feel so in the dark anymore. It left you with a lot to think about though, which made it hard to sleep. You knew the boys rotated shifts, so at least two were always up and monitoring the ship. That’s how Felix ended up finding you. Wide awake and sitting on the floor in one of the halls, staring out the window at space. He didn’t hesitate to join you.
“What are you doing here, Princess?”
“Couldn’t sleep…”
“Do you want me to make you something?”
“I’m good.”
“You do need to rest though. We’ll be returning to Miroh soon enough.”
“Felix.”
“Hm?”
“I don’t think I can do this…”
“What do you mean?”
“How can you… how can anyone expect me to run the kingdom? It was never my place.”
“You are a member of the royal family. It is your duty-”
“I am the youngest child of the royal family. The eldest, my brother, was to wear the crown and bear the responsibility of the throne. If anything were to happen to him, my older sister would step up. They were both fit for the throne, they were both preparing for it, not me. I wouldn’t know the first thing about running the kingdom, and I’m certain the council of royal advisors has been disbanded, so I’d be completely on my own…”
“That’s not true, Princess. You have us, your royal guards.”
“I…” You chuckled softly, taking a deep breath. “You’re right. I forgot you study the affairs of the kingdom in order to help your ward.”
“We are here to protect you, and look after you, in every way. You are never alone, Princess.”
“It’s easier to believe that now… but I don’t know how I’ll feel when we return to Miroh.”
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.”
The two of you remained there for a while, just enjoying the view. You leaned against him, resting your head on his shoulder. For a moment you could just pretend it was the two of you, and nothing else. He was comforting, and having him near helped you drift off to sleep. He watched you for a bit, wanting you to get deep in sleep before getting you to bed. Once you were tucked in he returned to the control room, finding Chan still sitting at the main panel.
“What took you so long?”
“I found the Princess star gazing. I stayed with her until she fell asleep.”
“Is she alright?”
“Worried, and still figuring out her emotions. We’ve had time to come to terms with everything, but for her it feels like just yesterday she was home with her family. She still needs time, but for now she’s okay.”
“Hm…”
“When will we be able to reach our contact on Miroh?”
“Another day, and we’ll be within range. From there we can figure out the best way to reenter the atmosphere and land without arousing suspicion.”
“And what if things don’t go well?”
“Don’t jinx it.”
“But are we prepared for the worst case scenario?”
“Yes. Let’s see if we can make contact first before jumping to conclusions.”
“Understood.”
That day, everything happened so fast, you couldn’t really process anything. Now you had nothing but time to think things over, and figure out what you felt back then, compared to the present. You would have thought seeing your home world would bring you joy, but instead you felt sadness, and guilt. It didn’t feel like home anymore, and you weren’t sure if it ever would again.
“We’ll be beginning our descent soon.”
You tried putting on a brave face, but you were sure they knew how nervous you were. At least the landing had no complications. What did make you worry was seeing the six figures outside the ship waiting. None of the boys seemed bothered by it, so you figured they must be friends of some sort.
“Princess, this is for you.”
Hyunjin presented you with a cloak, they all had one as well, and a necklace. You were a bit confused by the jewelry, but allowed him to put it on you.
“You might feel a bit strange, but this is meant to hide your psychic signature. For your safety of course.”
“Right.”
“We all have one as well, but we can still sense you, so don’t worry.”
“Thank you.”
When the ship hangar door opened, you stood surrounded by your boys, cloak on with the hood up. You were used to this formation, but you weren’t used to hiding. As you walked down the ramp the other six bowed, so they knew who you were.
“Welcome home, Princess.”
You didn’t know what to say, so you merely acknowledged their words. This wasn’t exactly home to you, just a clearing who knows where. Besides, you didn’t know them at all, and you knew better than to trust blindly. The ship was minimized and you all followed the six to a nearby town. From there everyone split off, you can’t be walking around with an escort, but Chan stayed by your side. You made sure to keep your face mostly hidden, but you kept looking off into the distance.
“I’m afraid you can’t see the palace from here, Princess.”
“Right… where are we?”
“One of the outer regions.”
“Huh.”
“You don’t have to worry about being discovered out here, no one is looking for you.”
“I know it’s just… I’ve never been outside the palace before, at least not to any of the outer regions. I wish the circumstances were better.”
“Perhaps once things have returned to normal we can come back here and-”
“There is no normal to return to. All we can do is start over with what’s left.”
“You’re correct, Princess.”
“You need to stop calling me that. We’re in hiding.”
“Right, my apologies.”
Everything seemed so peaceful, like nothing had changed. Then again you didn’t really know how people lived out here. You were just a stranger passing through.
“The princess is not dead!”
Those words startled you, making you think you were exposed, but you soon found the source. Two gentlemen were indulging in some drinks, and it seemed one had a strong opinion. Chan had grabbed your arm, asking if you were alright, but you were fine, at that moment at least.
“How can you be so sure?”
“If she was dead, they would have publicly executed her along with the rest of the royal family.”
“It’s been years now, if she was alive, they wouldn’t be hiding her.”
You didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but they were very loud, and you weren’t the only one who could hear them. Although a part of you really wishes you hadn’t heard anything at all.
“Publicly… executed…”
“Princess, we have to go.”
“What does… that’s not…”
“We need to leave now.”
You wanted to ask those gentlemen what they were talking about, to not say such things out in the open, but Chan held you back. His grip was tight, and it only got tighter when local guards approached the pair. Now everyone was being snoopy, and things were getting out of hand. You didn’t see how it all went down though as Chan dragged you off the streets and to a more isolated area.
“Let me go!”
“Princess, calm down. We can’t-”
“When were you going to tell me! Did you ever intend to? Or was I just supposed to find out on my own one day.”
“Princess, you have to understand-”
“Stop calling me that!”
“What’s going on here?”
The others soon joined you both, seeing that things were far from alright. The shouting would certainly attract unwanted attention. So Minho got in between you two, trying to figure out what happened.
“You’re all liars!”
“Princess-”
“What else haven’t you told me? What other secrets are you keeping from me?”
“It’s our job to protect you, Princess.”
“And how does lying do that? By simply existing I’m in danger, and you’re asking me to trust you when you can’t even tell me the truth!”
“Princess, that’s enough.”
Seungmin had come up to you from behind, placing a hand on your shoulder. You could feel his presence in your mind, followed by a fog clouding your thoughts. You whimpered, grabbing your head, but that wouldn’t do anything.
“Let’s get going before we attract attention.”
Chan and Seungmin stayed by your side, the others dispersing. You kept your head down, quiet and ignoring the world around you. Not entirely by choice. After a while you arrived at this safe house. It was a decent size, and capable of housing all of you.
“A room down below has been prepared for you Princess.” One of the others spoke. “Follow me.”
You all went down below, being shown around and directed to all the necessities. It certainly wasn’t a palace, but it was cozy.
“I know it’s not what you’re used to Princess, but I hope you can be comfortable here.”
It wasn’t until then that Seungmin released his hold on you. It took a moment for the fog to lift, but once you had your senses back you snapped.
“You want me to trust you, yet you keep doing these things!”
 “Please understand-”
“You’re all I have left… I don’t want to feel like I can’t trust you…”
It got quiet, and you were trying not to break down again, but you were hurt. Like you said, they were all you had left, and you wanted to trust them, but if they were keeping secrets, among other things, you weren’t sure you could put your trust in them. After a moment Jeongin walked up to you, holding his hand out to you.
“I’ll show you what happened that night, Princess. I’ll share my memories with you.”
You stared down at his hand for a moment before taking it. He led you over to a table, having you sit down across from him. Hyunjin came over to remove your necklace as Jeongin did the same with his own. To share memories, you both needed full access to your powers. You took a deep breath and Jeongin reached over to take your hands.
“I apologize in advance for what you’ll see.”
“Where’s the Princess!”
“Gone. She’s safe.”
Jeongin’s training had always prepared him for the worst, and he knew to take any situation seriously, even if it turned out to be a drill afterwards. He knew this was real, the palace was under attack, and your safety was the only thing running through his mind. When Chan had called him and the others to the hangar he rushed over. He knew that protocol dictated the princess would be sent off world in case of an attack. He always felt someone should go with, but that was dangerous in itself when one couldn’t be sure who to trust. At least you were safe, and that’s what mattered most to him.
“What do we do now?” Jisung asked.
“We follow protocol, which means we assist with evacuation plans. Minho, Changbin, Seungmin, and Jeongin, you four find Prince Soohyun and make sure he is escorted safely. The rest of you with me to find Princess Yssa.”
Even if you were their priority, the boys were aware of the evacuation plan for every member of the royal family. They knew which path would be taken by each individual, so Jeongin and his brothers quietly moved through the palace, knowing which way to go in order to come across the prince. They kept their weapons raised, a bow staff with a stun feature and a hidden sword, ready to strike if necessary. Soon enough they found their target, and immediately drew their swords.
“Prince Soohyun.” Minho spoke. “Are you alright?”
“Yes.”
“These are not your royal guards, where are they?”
“Dead. I was ambushed while exiting my chambers, none of them made it.”
“And I suppose you’re leading these palace guards through your evacuation route?”
“Yes.”
“We’ll escort you from here.”
“Not happening.” A palace guard stated. “The prince stays with us.”
“Stand down.” Prince Soohyun ordered. “All of you.”
“Your highness.”
“These gentlemen are royal guards for my little… wait, where is y/n? Why are you here?”
“She’s safe, your highness. We’re following protocol, which is to escort you to safety.”
“Right… right, stand down. I’ll go with the royal guards, the rest of you, follow your procedures.”
“Yes, your highness.”
The palace guards lowered their weapons first, and then the others followed. With that decided, the boys escorted the prince to the hidden tunnels below the palace. They had been fortunate not to encounter resistance so far.
“Where’s my sister?”
“She’s been sent off world.”
“Off world? That course of action is in case the threat to the crown is serious. This is just some clan thinking they can take the throne.”
“Princess y/n was lured off palace grounds, and attacked.” Changbin explained. “You’ve already lost your highly trained royal guards, and the whole palace is on high alert. I think this is very serious.”
“You’re right… will I be sent with her?”
“Negative. For safety purposes all children of the royal family are sent to different off world locations.”
“So she’s gonna be alone?”
“She’ll be in cryo-sleep until retrieved. As will you.”
“What about Yssa? Is she alright? Or my parents?”
“The rest of Princess y/n’s royal guards were sent to escort Princess Yssa, but we know nothing else in regards to her condition or your parents. We have to remain silent in order to get you to safety.”
“I understand. Do you happen to know which clan is doing this?”
“Yes.”
No one ever really thought this day would come, but they were prepared nonetheless. After traveling through the tunnels, they came to the exit hatch. Minho went up first to make sure it was all clear. When he gave the go ahead Seungmin went up, followed by the prince and then Changbin and Jeongin. It was quiet outside the palace, which was a good thing.
“The hangar isn’t far from here.” Minho said. “We’ll also know the status of Princess Yssa when we get there.”
The only light they had was that of the moon, and it was all they would need. They were all on high alert, keeping an eye for anything. It seemed like it would be a smooth extraction, but that was too much to hope for. Suddenly they were ambushed, from above. That was the distraction as they would wound up surrounded by the enemy. A fight ensued, and the boys held their own despite the overwhelming numbers, but it wasn’t without injury. They could handle their injuries, but it was the prince they were concerned with.
“Your highness!”
“I’m fine… I’m fine…”
The prince had a wound in his side, and he was bleeding through his clothes. He was applying pressure, but he was already struggling to stand.
“We have to hurry.” Seungmin said. “We can-”
“Just go without me.”
“We can’t leave you, your highness.”
“I can’t keep up like this, and more are bound to come.”
“Your highness, we-”
“You also can’t put me in cryo-sleep like this.”
“We’ll figure that out once you’re safe.” Jeongin added. “Let’s keep-”
“I’m not the one you’re supposed to die for.” The prince took a moment. “You’re y/n’s royal guards, not mine. So do your duty and survive, for her. Keep her safe, no matter what.”
“Your highness-”
“Leave me. That’s an order!”
This felt wrong, Jeongin could feel it in his bones, but he also knew what had to be done. His feet wouldn’t move though, Changbin having to grab him and drag him off. He kept his eyes on the prince for as long as he could, his guilt growing with every step. If the worst happened he didn’t know how he’d ever be able to face you.
“You left him there!”
You didn’t wanna see more, you couldn’t, not when you felt heartbroken and enraged. You tackled Jeongin to the ground, screaming in his face as tears ran down your face.
“How could you just leave him there to die! How could you leave my brother behind!”
You didn’t notice the tears on Jeongin’s face, too caught up with your own emotions. Eventually Changbin and Chan pulled you off of him, but that didn’t stop you from screaming.
“Why didn’t you help him! Why did you leave him alone!”
“Princess, please.” Chan pleaded. “You have to understand.”
“Shut up! You’re all liars!”
“Our job is to protect you. Prince Soohyun knew that, and made a decision.”
“Excuses! You shouldn’t have left him there!”
“He gave us an order.” Minho stated. “We follow them, no matter what.”
“Liars…”
“Princess, I’m sorry.”
You stopped struggling and sank down to your knees, sobbing. You thought you were done with tears, but that wasn’t the case. You didn’t want their comfort, so they gave you space, letting you cry until you calmed down. As much as you wanted to hate them for their actions, you knew you would have done the same if your roles were reversed.
“Princess…”
“What about my sister?”
“It was more or less the same situation.” Felix explained. “Princess Yssa still had one of her royal guards. Although we were also ambushed upon leaving the palace. Princess Yssa ordered us to leave her with her royal guard, and make sure we looked after you.”
“You were attacked outside the palace… at the exit points from the extraction routes… only a royal guard would know that…”
“You’re correct, Princess.”
“Who was it? Which one of those bastards is still alive?”
“None I’m afraid.” Hyunjin continued. “All royal guards were executed. As well as any palace guards who didn’t renounce the royal family and switched their loyalties. So whoever betrayed us did it all in vain.”
“So then what happened to the entire infrastructure of command? Or the palace structure?”
“All guards were reevaluated, those you see today are loyal to the clan running things now. The same goes for the royal council that has been established. It’s made up of royal advisors and higher ups who have renounced the royal family.”
“I don’t get it though.” One of the other six spoke. “I understand that in the absence of a royal family member, a royal council is established, but why hasn’t that clan become the new royal family? It’s been years now.”
“Because no one but royal blood can wear the crown.” Chan said. “It’s not common knowledge, and even then it’s not understood well within the palace, but the crown isn’t just a headpiece. It’s powerful, and ancient. If anyone not of royal blood wears it… records show it does not end well. That’s also probably the reason why the royal family is naturally gifted, so they can handle that power, so they can wear the crown.”
“That clan… they didn’t know this, did they?”
“Oh they did. If things had gone to plan, the Princess would have ascended the throne as a puppet for them. They never intended to kill her, because they need her. Even now. We’re fortunate things didn’t go their way in that regard.”
“I see.”
“Wait, what about my uncle?” You suddenly asked. “Not everyone of royal blood lived in the palace. Besides my uncle there-”
“Dead.” Seungmin interrupted. “That clan was meticulous in wiping out every person of royal blood that wasn’t you. Your extended family was also publicly executed.”
“I… I think I’m gonna be sick.”
Jisung quickly found a trash can for you to throw up into. He rubbed your back, Changbin getting you some water as well.
“Are you okay, Princess?”
“I guess… I’m really the only one left… aren’t I?”
“I’m afraid so.”
“Then what exactly is the plan here? That clan is in control of everything, have been for years now. How exactly do you plan to take back the palace? To take back the throne?”
“Despite what it may seem, there are people against the current rule. We’ve gathered the numbers that attacking the palace isn’t entirely out of the question. We just need to wait for our moment.”
“And when exactly would that be?”
“When some of them go off world. They’ll be vulnerable then.”
“Off world?”
“They’re still looking for you Princess.” Minho said. “They have been since that night. They know you were sent off world, just not where. When they had us captive they tried to get that information from us, but they failed. Even now they haven’t cracked into the control tower, which is fortunate, but they’re bound to do so soon enough.”
“And you believe that’s the time to strike?”
“They’ve gotten cocky over the years. They definitely don’t think anyone would oppose them. It’s how we’ve managed to get some of our people close to the palace without arousing suspicion. So we know what’s going on, and we’ll know when to strike.”
“And this resistance you’re leading… do they know I’m alive?”
“No. Only the people in this room.” Chan assured. “We can’t trust anyone else.”
“So then who are these people?”
“Ah, right. We haven’t had proper introductions. Princess, these gentlemen are former palace guards. They were still in training when everything went down. Gunil here is their leader.”
“It’s an honor to meet you, Princess. And these are my brothers.”
The other five introduced themselves one by one, also bowing to you in the process. You really felt the formalities were unnecessary, but that was instilled into them from day one.
“Thank you for everything.”
“We wish we could have met under better circumstances, but we are glad to serve you.”
“I appreciate it. Although I must apologize for all the trouble you’ve endured.”
“We made our choice knowing the consequences. We’re alright, Princess.”
“I can’t thank you enough.”
“We haven’t done much to warrant such words from you, but they are appreciated.”
“Well then, I intend to help too.”
“Princess, we won’t be putting you in danger. Jeongin said. “And we can’t have you-”
“I know. I mean I want to help my people. I doubt everything has been good under a new rule. Especially for those in the outer regions. There’s something I can do, right?”
“There is a shelter in town.” Jungsu commented. “I know they’re always looking for volunteers. And it’s where we meet up with some of our contacts.”
“Perfect. I can do that.”
“Not until we get you some proper identification.” Minho added. “The chances of you being recognized out here is slim, but we still need to be cautious, Princess.”
“For starters you can all stop calling me Princess. Just use my name.”
“I don’t think we can do that, Princess.”
“What did I just say? Do you want to arouse suspicion? I’m sure none of the guards would appreciate you calling me that.”
“Apologies, Prin…” Chan cleared his throat. “It’s a force of habit. We’ll work on that.”
Everything was such a drastic change for you. It wasn’t that long ago that you were wandering around the palace, now for the first time you were trying your hand at common work. You definitely struggled at first, not even knowing the names of some kitchen utensils. You feared you’d stand out, but everyone around was so kind and patient, happy to have you with them. It gave you confidence and made you eager to learn. So enough everything kinda felt natural, and it was quite peaceful. It was easy to forget you were hiding, easy to forget the responsibilities you’d have to carry out one day.
“My gosh, when was the last time you set foot in a kitchen?”
At least two of the boys joined you everyday at the shelter. They’d try to stick near you, but would help around where they could. At first they were very worried about leaving you alone, but the shelter was a safe place for you, and they felt better about you being there. Of course they still kept their guard up. Whenever you were out of sight for too long one of them would always go off to find you. They were certainly seeing you in a new light as well. Just standing in the kitchen was enough to make Felix stare at you in awe, but to see you actually cooking, that was unbelievable.
“You don’t remember?” You chuckled. “I was seven, and I wanted cookies. I snuck into the kitchen, and you came along. I didn’t find any so I thought I would make some, I burned a lot of things.”
Felix laughed. “You’re right! We got a decent way though the recipe though.”
“The chef was pissed. And you took the blame. You really shouldn’t have.”
“It’s my job to protect you, Prin-”
“Ya!”
“Force of habit.”
“Do you even know my name?”
“Of course I do.”
“Hm. You guys tend to catch yourselves a lot, but you rarely speak my name.”
“I don’t think I’m worthy.”
“Everyone else around here does. I think it’s only fair if you do too.”
“I’m not entirely sure I can.”
“But I wanna hear my name from you… it’s been a long time. I vaguely remember, when we were kids, you guys would use my name all the time. Whenever one of the higher ups or royal guards heard, they’d scold you about it. I miss those days.”
“Me too. Feels like just yesterday we were running around the palace garden.”
“I wonder how it all is…”
“What?”
“The palace… is everything being maintained, are the flowers blooming… who’s still there…”
“I can ask about a list of-”
“No it’s alright. I don’t wanna know… not right now…”
You only ever imagined this type of life. You’d play pretend with some old friends when you were little, the boys would play sometimes too. Although as you got older there wasn’t time for that anymore. You had responsibilities and expectations. Even if the throne wasn’t meant to be yours, you were a princess, so you had to act like one. All that training certainly buried the child in you, and the same happened to them. Sometimes they didn’t feel like friends, but this, being with them now. It made you happy, nostalgic, and you didn’t want it to end.
“Is this where you two are hiding?”
Chan made his way into the kitchen, finding you cooking, Felix helping you out. He was happy to see you smile, even if things weren’t right in the world.
“I’m not hiding. I’m cooking.”
“And I’m helping.” Felix chimed in. “You can help too.”
“Sure.”
They never had trouble listening to you, although cooking wasn’t the easiest thing and you were still learning. A bit of direction had to be given every now and then. It was quite lovely, living this fantasy you had as a kid. You stopped what you were doing and looked over at Chan who was at your side. You just stared for a while.
“Chan…”
“Hm?”
“Can we… can we stay here? Like this?”
“What do you mean?”
“Forget the throne… forget taking back the palace… it’s so nice here… with all of you… can we just live out the rest of our lives like this?”
Chan glanced over at you, a gentle smile on his face. He reached over and poked your cheek, making you giggle.
“Princess…”
That one word brought reality crashing down. As much as you wanted an ordinary life, that wasn’t your destiny. You weren’t born ordinary, you were born royalty, and that meant so much more now that you were the last one. You didn’t realize you had tears building up until Chan wiped them away.
“Please…”
“I know things have been quite but-”
You suddenly heard a crash from outside the kitchen, coming from the main hall of the shelter. Felix ran out to see what was going on, Chan already getting tense and looking around for a weapon. A moment later Felix came back, out of breath.
“Guards. They’re looking for someone.”
“Who!?”
“I don’t know, they’re just comparing faces to an image they have.”
“Fuck, we need to get the Princess out of here.”
“I’ll cause a distraction.”
“Don’t!” You yelled. “If you get dragged off for being uncooperative, you could end up recognized.”
“They could be looking for us, Princess.” Chan countered. “It’s too dangerous for you to be here. Felix, go!”
“No, what if-”
Felix was on his way out of the kitchen when you heard him yell. Chan tensed up and you were just as nervous. If you ran now you’d both be chased down and possibly captured. You also couldn’t be found just standing around all tense. Something had to be done, and you could only think of one thing to shift things in your favor. You grabbed Chan and pulled him into a kiss. He was startled by your actions, intending to move away when he saw guards enter the kitchen out of the corner of his eye. Instead he moved down his hands to your waist, pulling you closer.
The guards were certainly startled by the scene, but one came over to separate you two. By then you were both out of breath, seeming confused over the guard more than anything. They merely looked at your faces and then down at the hologram projection from their watch, your faces didn’t seem to match. Without a word they walked away, leaving the kitchen just as quickly and quietly as they came in. As soon as they were gone Chan was on you, making sure you were alright, completely ignoring what you had done.
“I… I’m fine…”
“Good. Stay here.”
Chan went over to Felix, finding him at the kitchen door, laying on the floor. It was clear he had been stunned, and he had yet to recover his senses. Chan helped him sit up, making sure the actual fall hadn’t cause a concussion or any other injury. You stayed put as Chan asked, your fingers going up to touch your lips. That was your first kiss.
“Chan…”
“We need to leave, now.”
Chan came over and grabbed your hand, dragging you and Felix out of the shelter, taking you home. You were still lost in thought, not aware of Felix’s stare. He was worried about you, not just over what happened, but the look on your face now.
“Princess… Princess?”
“Huh?”
“Are you alright?”
“I… yes, what about you?”
“I’m fine, just got stunned.”
“Who were they looking for?”
“One of our contacts.” Chan explained. “We’re careful, but so is that clan. Thankfully the person they were looking for isn’t one of our operatives in the main kingdom.”
“Ah… that’s good.”
By the time you got home the others already knew what had happened. They had gotten inspected as well, but they weren’t targets, so things went by smoothly. Although as soon as you were home Jisung pulled you into a hug.
“Are you alright, Princess? I was so worried.”
“I’m alright. And you?”
“Just fine. Glad to see you’re okay.”
“Given what happened today we need to lay low.” Minho said. “That means no contact with any of our operatives. At least until this dies down.”
“It’s not fair…” You mumbled. “It’s not right…”
“What?”
“This isn’t right. You’re all risking your lives to protect me, but I’m just-”
“This is our job.” Changbin stated. “We trained for this.”
“They didn’t. All the other people who are part of this resistance, who don’t even know I’m alive. Aren’t you leading them with lies and false hope?”
“Princess-”
“I’ve said a hundred times to stop calling me that!”
“You know you have to be kept hidden.” Hyunjin continued. “We can’t just tell everyone you’re here. We’d have the entire clan on-”
“And what if I don’t want it?”
“Huh? What does that mean?”
“What if I don’t want the crown? What if I don’t want any of this!”
“Prin-”
“My name is y/n! Is it really so hard to call me that?”
“I understand what just happened was frightening.” Chan began. “So why don’t we just take a moment to breathe and clear our minds.”
“So we’re not gonna talk about that?”
“About what?”
“The kitchen…”
“Princess-”
“What about me! What about what I want!? Did you ever think of that?” You were screaming. “All you’re doing is protecting me so then you can put me on the throne! You’re no better than the Ahgase clan! They want me to wear that crown just like you! But what about me?!”
“Princess!” Jisung interrupted. “Now is not the time for-”
“I know what happened to me that night! I know how naive and pathetic I was… how I fell right into their hands cause I thought… I thought…” You had tears running down your cheeks. “This is all my fault… and maybe I just want to run from that… but you won’t let me… not even for a little while…”
You collapsed to your knees, sobbing into your hands. Jisung and Seungmin tried to approach you but you pushed them away. That’s why you wanted the fantasy, why you wanted to pretend you weren’t royalty. You didn’t want to face the truth, that you were the reason the palace was attacked that night. You had been so stupid, thinking you were in love.
“Y/n…”
“They’re gone!” Gunil burst into the room, out of breath. “Members of the Ahgase clan have gone off world. The control tower was cracked, and they took off a few hours ago. This is our chance!”
The rest of Gunil’s boys soon piled in, excited, but quickly seeing the mood of the room. They all got quiet, the only sound left was your sobbing.
“Bad time?”
“Very bad time.”

excerpt from the journal of soren chen ;
contains mentions of sawyer pearson + ( briefly ) pj bolton
i’m not sure if it’s too early to say this. i don’t think i’ve ever really felt this way before. i mean, i was under the impression that i was in love with beth, when i was fifteen. but fifteen is fifteen, and twenty-one is twenty-one. ( by the way, i’m still not sure how i feel about the fact my birthday will come around again in four months. time seems to have gone so fast and so slow all at the same time. i feel like i’m still a child, but i feel so much older than i am, really. )
a lot has happened to me between fifteen and twenty-one. i have spent so much time trying to be an independent adult, and the bolton’s have spent just as much time treating me like i’m a child who shouldn’t get a say in how i live my life. all of that has changed overnight. and it’s partly thanks to sawyer, actually. but i’m a different person now, to an extent. and so suddenly.
so. what i want to say is, i think i’m in LOVE. i need to write it out as a secret little confession just for my own eyes to see. i need to say it to myself so that i can think about it. the last thing i want to do is admit it out loud too soon, before either of us are ready for something like that. i don’t really know when the best time is, because i’ve never been with someone like her. beth was my best friend. i knew her like the back of my hand - it made decision making easy. there’s still so much i want to know about sawyer – things i can’t wait to know. but unfortunately, that also brings me a great deal of anxiety.
i’m lying on the floor of the living room, she made me some tea before she’s started to cook dinner and even though i offered to help, she insists that i get back to the drawing i was doing earlier. except now i have to write about it instead because i’m overwhelmed with what i’m feeling.
i came from a house where my belongings and my art were to stay in my room. it was a way for philip and caroline to say, “if you want to keep being who you’ve chosen to be, then you can do it out of sight, so that you’re out of our mind.” if i forgot things, if i got caught up in something and couldn’t stop, i’d be scolded. sometimes my things were thrown away. “you shouldn’t leave your garbage lying around.”
not long after i moved in, sawyer went out of her way to help me set up my things in the apartment. new art supplies and everything. i paint in the living area, sometimes while she’s curled up on the couch going over papers or watching tv, and even though i make a mess, sometimes i catch her watching me. she doesn’t scold me, she doesn’t tell me to be cleaner, or to stay out of her way. she looks at me with a softness that makes my heart melt. she lets me be a part of her life. sometimes that means dealing with me humming as i paint on the living room floor. sometimes that means wrapping me up in a blanket and holding me when i cry. she does these things out of the goodness of her heart, because she wants to. and i’m not a burden because of it.
as i’m writing this my cheeks are pink, i can feel the heat in my face and i only hope she doesn’t come to check on me for a minute, because she’s going to know something is up, and i don’t want to have to explain myself just yet. but i hope that in a few months time i can look back on this and laugh at how silly i was for being anxious about these things. but who knows what the future has in store.
also i have yet to tell anybody. i haven’t talked to anyone about it… maybe it’s about time i talked to pj, though i guess i can’t really say he’s always given me the best advice. now that i think about it, it’s not particularly fair to keep things from him. despite the past, and though i’m not sure we’ll ever be as close as he wants us to be, he is changing for the better.
okay, i’ll talk to him.
but for now i’m going to go help sawyer with dinner. my mind isn’t on my drawing anymore.

a/n - part 2 of truth or dare but can be read as a stand alone. i hope this isn’t too confusing because it’s really hard writing for four people. i’m sorry if this is like really bad but four people is really hard
warnings: hella smut, foursome, alcohol, face riding, mutual masterbation, humping, slight mommy kink, degration, praise, thigh riding
requested part two - @cherrysandwiine
the party was in full swing as students from various houses drink away their sorrows or jug in victory. “do you really think she would be down to join us,” pansy asks looking over at you. looking back to hermione, you, ginny, and pansy study the girl sitting far away from you.
with liquid courage running through your vains, you stand up and make your way over to her. plopping down on the couch next to her, you throw your legs into her lap. “hi ‘mione,” you say dragging out her name. she studies you for a moment and grins, “y/n i know you’re a horny drunk,” she says pausing to laugh, “but i’ve told you i’m not fucking you when you’re intoxicated. as tempting as you look,” she says mumbling the last part under her breath.
you nod in understanding. that was part of the reason you had trusted hermione in the first place. she was the first girl you had ever experimented with and you never doubted her being your first. you liked how uptight she was until you were behind closed doors. as much as she’d like to believe otherwise, she was practically putty in your hands. she always craved your touch whether it be in pent up arousal or just needing to be comforted by a friend.
taking a piece of her hair and twirling it with your fingers, you lean up close to her ear and place a kiss on her neck. “i’ve missed you, ‘mione. you’re making this extremely hard with the way you look tonight. let me make you feel better” you say with an innocent tone. you can see the wheels turning in her head, wanting so badly to say yes.
she lets out a huff and lays her head in the crook of your neck. “i’ve missed you too, y/n. i’ve been meaning to talk to you actually. rumor has it that you’re dating parkinson,” she says with a slight bitter tone. letting out a laugh, “funny you should mention it, i’ve been meaning to talk to you about it too. and it’s not just pansy- i’m seeing ginny too. we’re all together. we were all actually sorta thinking that... you know... you would like to join us one night?”
a small smirk makes it’s way across her face. “i would love to y/n,” she says placing a kiss below your ear. letting out a huff, you feel the anxious feeling leave your body. hermione always was good at making you feel at ease with her. you only hoped that your girls would feel the same way about her.
you spend the rest of the night chatting with her and catching up. ever since the night you, pansy, and ginny slept together pansy’s possessiveness kicked in and was worried about you and hermiones relationship. of course, she knew you would never cheat but you respected and understood her boundaries nonetheless.
being with ginny and pansy was a different feeling than when you were with hermione. hermione felt like comfort and easy, but with ginny and pansy you were constantly on your toes. you loved how unpredictable you felt when you three were together. although it wasn’t as serious yet, you would never do anything to intentionally hurt either of your girls. that’s why you were shocked when they brought up inviting hermione for a night when your were all laying in bed.
you all had laid down your rules and boundaries making sure that all three of you were comfortable. now a few days later, you lay in bed with ginny and pansy on each of your sides while surfing the tv. hearing a soft knock, the three of your heads shoot up and ginny being closest to the door, opens it to reveal hermione.
“um hey,” she says shuffling her feet with her eyes glued to the floor. a part of you wanted to let out a laugh at the gryfindor girls newfound shyness but you didn’t want to make her more anxious than she already seemed to be.
“you can come lay with us,” pansy says speaking up. “we were just about to watch our baking show. miss y/n over here,” she says poking your side, “is convinced she’s going to suddenly become some hardcore soccer mom when we have kids and whip out all her hidden skills she seems so keen on having,” pansy jokes lightheartedly, trying to ease the tension.
you shake your head at her jabs at you, “well ‘mione has said my baking tastes exquisite- thank you very much.” you feel the bed dip beside you as hermione and ginny join you as you spend a moment intertwining the four of you, making a mess of limbs tied together. “actually y/n,” hermione joins in, “i was only saying that to be nice. i fed the rest to ronald- merlin knows that boy will eat anything.”
scoffing, “i cannot believe the three of you,” you say shaking your head at them. “just you wait ‘til i end up on master chef, just you wait.”
your laughter seems to die down after that as you all lay in each other’s embrace, cuddled together closely. leaning to your other side, you nudge yourself into ‘miones shoulder and start plastering kisses down her neck and upper breasts. you already feel her breathing increasing, coming out short in anticipation. you take notice that ginny has also start sucking on her other nipple with ‘miones fingers clutched in her hair.
sitting up to straddle her, pansy scotches closer to the side you had left as you grab her hands and place them on your waist. lifting your shirt off, you keep her hands on your waist as you swivel your hips seductively. running your own hands down your body making a show out of it, you grip your breasts while fasting your pace on her center. you swore you could almost feel both of your pussys pulsing against one another between both of your shorts.
the three of you lay around hermione almost bending to her will, trying to shower her with pleasure. kissing your way down her stomach and pause with your lips on her center while looking up at her with a smirk. the look in her eyes were silently begging and even though you knew you wouldn’t get a verbal plead from her, you took what you got.
kissing more up her thighs, you slide off her panties and throw it across the room. running your tongue along her lower lips, you feel her fingers slide through your hair while slightly tugging your head further down.
parting her lips with your tongue, you hear pansy whisper in her ear “beg for y/n. beg for her tongue and show her how eager you are for her. go on, bun.” you knew what pansy’s praising was doing to her. her thighs clench around your head as she lets out a long whine. “please, y/n i need to cum so bad. i- i missed your tongue so much baby.”
“sit on my face,” you say looking up at her. your three girls all have a shocked look but ginny starts manhandling hermione into the new position nonetheless. now, you lay on with your head pressed against pansy’s upper thighs, laying down on her with hermione hovering over you while facing the opposite direction in a heated make out with ginny.
ginnys hands guide hermione to sit on you as you clutch her thighs and dig your tongue into her instantly. the room is immediately filled with all of your moans as mione sits on your face, ginny sits atop of your center grinding against you, and pansy starts toying with her own clit.
part of you felt so overwhelmed but the other felt like nothing than ever before. you felt a sense of euphoria coursing your body with every sense heightened. your tongue slows down accidentally as ginny starts quite literally jumping on you, begging for friction.
hermione has none of this as she just shoves her ass further in your face. letting go of one of her thighs, you reach around to pansy and kneed one of her breasts, wanting to give her more attention. patting hermiones thigh, she looks down at you in questioning but you grab her hips and force her to sit now facing pansy.
shoving your face back into her heat, pansy and hermione are now fully making out as mione fingers her slowly. hearing pansy let out a loud moan, “fuck baby ride mommies face just like that. our little cum slut, aren’t you?”
slurping up all of her juices, you fasten your pace as you feel all four of you reaching your climaxes together. ginny bounces on you while mione rides your face and fucks pansy with her fingers.
“fuck gin, hump mommas pussy. you look so good, bunny,” you hear pansy praise from behind you. letting out a loud moan, hermione feels you vibrate under her, sending her over the edge along with you.
after feeling hermione slump against you and sluggishly pull off, pansy and ginnys moans join in and you knew your two girls were cumming. looking up to ginny, you see her face scrunched up as she’s now riding your thigh and pansy thrashes her hips off hermiones hand.
“hump my hand, pans. fuck- you look so hot,” hermione speaks up, praising pansy’s before she slows down her movements to a stop. you all lay there for a long moment as your bodies buzz highly. finally, the four of you crash into the pillows and nuzzle into each other’s touch while trying to catch your breath. even though your climax has now come and gone, you lay there with a small grin thinking about how right it felt. you and your girls laying together, cuddling while murmuring sweet things as each of you drift in and out of consciousness.
“we definitely need to do that again,” ginny says practically speaking each of your thoughts. you all break out in sleepy giggles and nod as hermione places a kiss on your shoulder. “definitely.”

Broken
Wanda x Natasha x Reader
Reader is little, part of Loving a little series
Summary: Reader is on a mission. What happens when she gets hurt???
Notes: Hiiii guys, don’t forget to leave a comment :)
You were on a mission. Since you’ve got your new powers you’ve been going on missions more often. You are on a mission with Natasha and Wanda, although you were the only one who was out on the field. There was no one in the base and all you needed was to get some information. You are running through the woods towards the Hydra base.
Your lungs burn and your legs ache, but you keep running. The training didn’t seem to be helping you run for longer. You wish you had powers like Wanda. If you had powers like Wanda then you could just fly. Wait. You have fire powers, and possibly more. Suddenly you stop running to find yourself floating. Just like Wanda. What the?
“Guys, Wanda!!”
“What?!? What’s wrong, did you get hurt??”
“I’m floating, like you when you use your powers, but the magic isn’t red, it’s green. It looks like your guy’s eyes,” You say with adoration. Wanda and Natasha smile at each other at how cute you are.
“What did you do?” Natasha asks.
“Well I was thinking of how I wish I had powers like Wanda so I could fly to the Hydra base instead of running.” You say through your coms.
“And the next thing I know, I’m floating!” You exclaim.
“That’s great baby, you'll have to show me when we get home,” Wanda says.
“Now you can teach me!!” You squeal happily.
“Yes baby, now I can teach you. But you have to finish the mission first,” Wanda says.
“Oh right,” You say.
“Hey, so now how do I get down?” You ask, still just hovering above the ground.
“I don’t really know, maybe just think of the ground?” Natasha says after a while. You stare at the ground. Nothing happens so you close your eyes and let the overwhelming thought of the ground fill your mind. One moment you are floating ten feet above the ground and the next you are free falling down towards the ground.
When you hit the ground your right ankle takes the brunt of the fall, you land on it awkwardly and scream out in pain. Tear prick in your eyes and little you wants to come out so bad. But you fight it, you have to finish the mission first. You slowly pick yourself up putting all the weight on your left foot. You think that it’s not that bad, you just feel a lot of throbbing pain in your right ankle, nothing a good walk wouldn’t fix. You take a deep breath and take a step with your right foot, and you groan out in agony when you shift your weight.
“Jesus, Mary and Joseph!” You say taking a shuddering breath.
“Are you back on the ground?” Wanda says through coms.
“Uh y-yeah, I’m back on the groun-ah,” You say as you take another step.
“Baby? What happened?” Natasha says worried over the coms.
“Nothing I-I just fell on my ankle weird, I’m fi-ah-ne,” You say sniffing as you take another step. You don’t hear anything back on the other end, believing that you convinced them that you were fine. You take step after step, breathing heavily as tears fall from your eyes every step. You hear something behind you and you set yourself aflame.
“Hey, it’s just me baby,” Wanda says to you, as you turn around unlighting yourself.
“What are you doing?”
“Checking up on you, come on you need to go back to the jet.” She says walking towards you.
“No, I'm fine, I've got to finish the mission,” You say as you start walking again. You groan out in pain every time you shift your weight to your right foot. Wanda watches you for a little while, but it breaks her heart to see you in pain.
“Y/N stop,”
“No, gotta fin-ah-ish t-the mission,” you say, taking another step.
“Please don’t make me do this,” Wanda says, as you keep walking.
“Do what?” Taking another step. You stop and look back at her, she walks towards you, her eyes glinting a red.
“Wanda, don’t do it,” You warn her.
“Hey, look there’s Tasha,” You say pointing behind her. She looks behind her to find nothing. You hobble away as fast as you can letting out sounds of pain. You didn’t make it very far before you are swept up by Wanda and flying through the air. Surrounded by her arms, you relax and grumble about not being able to finish the mission. Eventually you rest your head in the crook of the neck and kiss her.
“Thank you,” You say to her.
“You’re welcome baby,” She says back. When you get back to the jet Natasha is already waiting for you. Wanda sets you down and you take off your shoes sitting down next to you and holding your hand. Careful, not to touch your purple swollen ankle. Natasha carefully grabbed your right foot.
“Ahhh, Tasha,” You hiss out in pain and squeeze Wanda’s hand. She gives you a sympathetic look and grabs some pain pills, you take them.
“You’re gonna have you get that checked by Bruce baby, it might be broken.” Natasha says. You whine, if it’s broken then you won’t be able to do anything. At least not with Wanda and Natasha being mother hens.
“No it’s fine, I promise.” You lie to them.
“Oh yeah? Stand up and put all your weight on your right foot.” Natasha says back. You look up at her.
“Baby, we don’t like seeing you hurt, we just want to make sure you’re okay,” Wanda says squeezing your hand.
“I know,” You say back, setting your head on her shoulder. Wanda strokes your hair while Natasha pilots the plane. You move so you're laying down, head in Wanda’s lap. You eventually fall asleep when the pain medicine pills kick in holding Wanda’s hand still.
When you wake up it’s to someone carrying you. You snuggle in closer to the person holding you.
“Hi baby, how are you feeling?” Wanda asks as she feels you move against her.
“Mmmm good,” You say sleepy.
“I see the pain pills are working,” Wanda says.
“Mhmm, stop talking lemme sleep,” You say to her.
“Baby you have to get checked by Bruce first,” Wanda says to you. You whine and snuggle further into Wanda.
“You have until we get there, then I’m gonna have to put you down baby,” Wanda says, that means you have at least 3 more minutes, depending on how long the elevator will take. In reality it only takes 30 seconds.
“We’re here baby,” Wanda says as she tries to set you down. You wrap your arms around her tightly and wrap your legs around her too. Going into full koala mode.
“Baby, don’t make me do it,” Wanda says.
“Do what?” Suddenly feel Wand’s hands at you sides.
“Wand’s don’t you dare.” You say looking at her seriously.
“Then get down and get your ankle checked.” Wanda says as her fingers move a little.
“Fine,” You say with a whine, untangling your arms and legs from her, hitting your ankle on her leg.
“Ahhh,” You gasp out in pain.
“Hello Y/N, I see that your ankle is a bit swollen and a nice shade of purple.” Bruce says with a smile.
“Is Natasha coming, or can I start.” Bruce asks.
“No she’s bringing everything to our room, she said she’d meet us after,” Wanda says. Bruce checks your ankle and deems it’s broken after an x-ray. He says you’ll need a shot that will heal it instantly. Tony and him just made it and need a test subject other than a bunny, so what better test subject than you?
“Can I go get Bunny and the love blanket please?” You ask Wanda with big puppy dog eyes.
“Yes baby, let’s go.”
“Wait, I can get it myself, please I promise ill be careful, I'll even fly if it makes you feel better,” You say to Wanda with pleading eyes.
“Okay fine, but no flying, that’s how you got this broken ankle anyways. I’m only letting you do this because I have to talk to Bruce about your new power.”
“Okay no flying, promise,” You swear on your life. You walk out the room and make your way to your room. You walk up the stairs and quickly look around. You don’t see anybody around so you quickly get into the vents. Clint had taught you how to get around in the vents whenever there was an emergency. And this is an emergency. You hate shots with every fiber in your body. Absolutely hate them. So you’re hiding out in the vents for as long as it takes for your ankle to heal.
Wanda was getting worried, your room isn’t far away and you have been gone for ten minutes.
“Hey Bruce, I’ll be back. I'm going to check where Y/N is.” Wanda says while she walks out. She makes her way up to your room. When she enters she finds Natasha sitting on the bed.
“Hey, where’s Y/N?” Natasha asks.
“Wait? Did she not come here?”
“No why would she come here?”
“She said that she wanted to get Bunny and the love blanket before her shot.”
“Ohhh! She’s probably hiding, you know she doesn’t like shots.” Natasha says holding Wanda’s hand.
“Great, now we have to look for her.” Wanda says with a groan.
“I have an idea where she is,” Natasha says.
“Clint told me he showed Y/N the vents in case of an emergency.”
“He what?!? Why would he do that, doesn’t he know that she’s a three year old little, she could get lost in there,” Wanda says with her head in her hands.
“Hey, baby it’s okay. We'll find her and set some rules for her, okay? Everything will be fine,” Natasha says hugging Wanda. Wanda and Natasha get up and go downstairs. You can hear them walking down.
“Y/N? Hey I know you’re scared but I need you to come out now,” Natasha says out loud not really knowing which vent you are in.
“Wait let me try,” Wanda says to Natasha.
“Baby girl? I need you to come out from wherever you are okay baby girl? Mama needs you to come out.” Wanda says.
“Mama!” You say happily, coming out and waddling twordas her. You make grabby hands at her and she smiles and picks you up. You rest your head on her shoulder.
“Mama, hurts,” You say.
“I know baby girl, you are gonna have to get a shot and it will make it all better” Wanda says.
“Nooo,” You whine and try to get out of Wanda’s arms.
“Yes baby girl, you have to get it,” Natasha says. Wanda and Natasha walk you all the way back to the medbay where Bruce is already waiting with the shot.
You start to cry as she sets you down and Bruce takes your ankle gently.
“You’re gonna feel a little pinch and then it will be over, okay Y/N?” Bruce asks. It really didn’t hurt that bad but you still balled your eyes out, the pain in your ankle instantly went away.
“Do you want Mama to carry you back to the room baby girl?” She asks. You shake your head no because you’re mad at both of them for making you get the shot. You rub your arm across your face angrily and get off the bed you were on. You walk with a pout and anger on your face back to your room. Wanda and Natasha follow behind you.
When you get back to your room Natasha had made your favorite and it is waiting on the table next to your bed for you. You get up on the bed and look straight ahead with your pout.
“Do you want something to eat baby?” Natasha asks. You make a noise of no.
“Are you sure baby girl, I made your favorite,” Natasha says, a little hurt that you don’t want the food she made special for you.
“No!” You say loudly.
“Do you want Bunny?” Wanda asks you.
“No!” You say again. Wanda and Natasha look at each other.
“Okay, well we have to go baby, we’ll be back in a bit okay?” Wanda says. You don’t look at them even as they get up and leave. When they shut the door you stare at it. You wait for them to come back, but they don't, so the door stays closed. You wait and wait, until all the anger goes away along with your pout. You look over at the food Natasha made you. Now all you want is Mama and Mommy. You get up from the bed and open the door.
“Mama, Mommy?” You say looking to the left.
“Yes baby girl?” Natasha says startling you. You jump a little but when you see them smile at you, you run into their arms.
“M’sorry,” You say while hugging them.
“It’s okay baby girl, do you want to eat now?” Natasha asks. You shake your head pulling them back into the room.
After you eat you snuggle up with Wanda and Natasha in bed, Bunny in your arms and the love blanket wrapped around all three of you.
“We love you baby girl.” Wanda says as she sees you start to drift off.
“Mmm love you too,” You say sleepily. They watch as you fall asleep in their arms, and slowly drift off with you.

Is there somewhere - BTS royal / bodyguard au Drabble part 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So after this I was thinking of writing some prequels to the Drabble series before moving ahead with time and the challenges these lovely characters would face ongoing. Same with the CEO drabbles, as always let me know what you think {angst and fluff ahead}
Prev | Next
————————————————————————————————————————
You hadn’t seen them for a month. You told yourself you were glad, that it didn’t hurt you that they gave up. You asked them to leave, you would stick by that, and this proved you right.
These things happened for a reason, you tell yourself, and while life was still a dense cloud hanging over you, it didn’t rain. Since that night trouble stopped following you, no one approached you in the clubs, the paparazzi stopped following you, you felt safe again, by yourself without any bodyguards.
“I haven’t seen you in so long Y/n,” your childhood friend sat across from you at a little quaint cafe in the town closest to your castle. You would have invited her to your place but the mess increased tenfold, that being said, you think your father must be sending people to clean while you were out. He hadn’t said anything about it, you were grateful he hadn’t, you weren’t ready to have that conversation with the King. He was always too busy for you, so this gesture came as a shock.
“I’ve missed you Y/n,” Sana says taking your hand in hers and squeezing it earnestly. “I’ve been worried about you.”
“You don’t need to worry I’m okay,” you say reassuringly.
“Y/n it’s a cloudy day and you’re wearing sunglasses,” you take by her sarcasm she doesn’t sound convinced.
“I’ve got a headache that’s all,” you bury your head behind the brunch menu, pretending to look over the options as she hums in response. It had been years but she still knew you well, and this was nothing like you were.
“Who hurt my friend?” She asks reading through your behaviour like she read the newspaper articles about it online, hence the impromptu visit from half a world away despite her own busy schedule.
“Doesn’t matter, it’s in the past,” and yet it’s still so present. The wound might be healing but it was leaving a red swollen scar in its place.
She lets the subject drop noticing how your shield goes up.
“Your bodyguard is really hot, if you wanted to invite him in to join us I wouldn’t mind,” she wiggles her eyebrows playfully, trying to lighten the mood but her words have the opposite effect on you.
“My what?” You breathe, you don’t have bodyguards. You turn to face where her eyes are set behind you and sure enough, outside the glass windows trying to look conspicuous is a man in a suit you’d recognise anywhere. You hate how your heart starts to ache as it beats faster, how there’s a hum of electricity starting to burn under your skin.
“Is that not your bodyguard? You used to talk about them so much, that’s....” she squints her eyes at the male, who bows his head in panic realising he’s been caught. “Jin! Right?”
Every time you FaceTimed Sana one of the boys would be with you, not on the screen unless it was Jin or Jimin but professionally standing out of the cameras range staying with you trying not to smile as you gushed about them with her, begging one of them to say hello. Yoongi and Taehyung were the only ones to ever give in. They would say hello shyly before standing at their post, Jin and Jimin on the other hand would sit on the bed or sofa with you. Jimin would make you blush and tease you while talking to Sana, Jin would tell her all your bad habits and complain about you playfully. Namjoon and Hobi never gave in, you were close to breaking Jungkook’s resolve before he left.
“I’ll be right back,” you say to her, rising from your seat to walk to the guilty looking male who’s ears have turned red. He says something in his sleeve and you realise the others must be close by or at least contactable. It all suddenly makes sense, you hadn’t seen them, but that didn’t mean they weren’t there. The house, your father was far too busy to burden himself with your mess, the sudden calm around you where normally there’d be a bustle of cameras and people.
“Princess,” he greets you bashfully, embarrassed for getting caught and complicating things. “Funny seeing you here, I was just waiting for a friend...”
“Liar,” you whisper, but it’s loud enough to shut him up.
“I can explain,” his cheeks are going red like his ears, you don’t know what you feel. There’s an emptiness that presents its self in his presence, like your body is trying to protect itself by going numb, even though your heart is begging you not to.
“I don’t want to hear it right now,” you close your eyes at the wave of sadness that overwhelms you. “I think you need to leave.”
You repeat your words from a month ago and it still cuts through him the same as it did then.
“I can’t...” he shuffles awkwardly from foot to foot.
“Jin you’re not my bodyguard anymore, this is harassment,” your cold eyes pierce through him but he stands strong against your onslaught.
“Actually...” he tries to chuckle but it dies as soon as it leaves his mouth. “Well you see, w-we- no your father... the king,” there’s a pause as he clears his throat and his hesitation irritates you.
“We’ve been reinstated as your bodyguards by order of the King,” a new voice behind you saves the stuttering man in front. You can’t help the fists form at your side as your mouth sets itself in a line. You turn to face Namjoon with a stern expression.
“No.” He knew you’d be stubborn, he knew it was a little underhanded of them, but after that day they couldn’t leave you like this. They would give you space, hope they could redeem themselves slowly, but they also had to keep you safe. They didn’t care you were next in line for the throne, they didn’t care their feelings for you were inappropriate in their line of work, you meant the world to them, you were their friend, and they couldn’t leave you again.
“I’m really sorry Princess, but the decisions been made,” he answers you sincerely. “We won’t get in your way, you won’t know we’re here, bu-”
“I said no,” your lips are tight, eyes enraged as you clench your jaw. He sighs, but he knows it would take time to heal the rift between you and the seven men.
You were right when you thought the rest of them were close behind, Yoongi and Jimin walk into your field of vision behind Namjoon, blazers buttoned, Jimin’s hair jelled back, Yoongi’s hand in his pocket. The sight takes you back and it knocks your confidence a little.
“Well that’s treason Princess,” Yoongi reasons with a small smirk forming on his face. “I guess that would get rid of us for you, being beheaded by the King.”
You shake your head is disbelief, a big sigh leaving your lips as you close your eyes to gather strength.
“I can’t do this right now,” you walk away back to your friend who’s eyes haven’t left the interaction. “I’ll deal with this later.”
——————————————————————————
You wonder what happened to their promise to stay out of sight and out of mind the following Saturday.
Maybe you walked through the bad part of town on purpose, maybe you wanted to piss them off or put yourself in danger, maybe you just wanted some control. A man that looks like trouble wolf whistles as you walk in his direction, and you smile like he’s your salvation. You don’t make it another two steps as a hand grabs your arm forcefully. You turn to find an angry Hoseok glaring at the man now cat calling you before turning his glare to you, nostrils flared like a bull about to charge.
You physically have to stop yourself from gulping at his aura, you know if pushed Hobi would cause harm to anyone that disrespected you. His grip on your arm tightens as the man doesn’t stop yelling profanities at you, he’s obviously intoxicated not that it excused his behaviour. Hobi hadn’t spoken a word, you can see him trying to ground himself and his anger, starting to lose his control, trying to regain his cool.
The guilt washes over you at his gaze, your smirk long gone as you struggle to keep eye contact. He hasn’t seen your face soften like this in so long, a glimpse of the old you coming back with concern.
“Hobi I’m sorry,” you whisper. “Let’s just go.”
His eyes are shut and he’s shaking with fury, at the man, at you, at himself.
“Hobi please,” you cup his cheek with your palm, stroking your thumb against his skin, feeling panic rising in yourself. The man is in front of you both now and you feel shame for making such a stupid decision. You press your forehead against his jaw as he stares daggers at the man.
“Your boyfriend giving you problems sexy?” He wears a shit eating grin as he speaks. “You looking for a bit of fun?”
Your touch calms your bodyguard enough to clear the haze of anger that threatens to attack the man where he stands. He releases a big breath before taking your wrist and walking you both away, pace unforgiving.
He still doesn’t say a word as you both get to the car, he pulls open the backseat door aggressively, looking at you expectedly. You don’t argue, you don’t scoff, you don’t walk away. Your eyes are round, looking up at him, begging for forgiveness. How the tables turn.
You get in without complaint, flinching as he slams the door shut. He gets into the drivers seat, putting his seat belt on before staring at you through the rear view mirror, jaw still clenched. You look lost, he hasn’t started the car and he hasn’t stopped staring at you.
“The seatbelt Y/n,” it’s a low growl and you quickly move to lock yours in place at his tone. Your heart is beating so fast you think it’s trying to escape. You don’t blame it, your hands are curled on your knees like a child ready to be scolded and you can’t look ahead as he pulls off.
——————————————————————————
You didn’t say a word the whole journey, scared a single sound would set him off. His grip was unrelenting on the wheel, you don’t think he cooled down at all even though he made sure he wasn’t driving recklessly with you in the car.
He doesn’t take you back to the castle, he takes you to their place. They rarely used to be at home when they worked for you, the castle was large enough for them to stay and they had no reason not to. You hesitate to leave the vehicle when Hobi opens the door for you, he’s patient even through his fury. He holds a hand out for you to take like they used to.
You want to ask him what you’re doing here, why he’s brought you, but you decide to take his hand and let him lead you indoors.
“Princess?” It’s odd to see Jungkook in his normal clothes, to see any of them in their casual wear, it looks homely. They all stare between you and Hobi, looking confused as you both walked into the living room.
You were staring at the floor as he explained where you were when he was on duty, the others now looked at you in shock and disappointment. It was hard for you to hear too, like he was talking about someone else, another girl, you wished the ground would swallow you whole.
“Princess this really has to stop,” it’s Jimin that breaks the silence after Hobi’s speech. His usual sweet disposition was wiped away with worry. “I get it, we messed up, but you can’t keep doing this to yourself Y/n.”
You don’t raise your head to meet his words, you stay with your eyes down and feet cemented where you stood. There’s a finger under your chin but you move your head to the side to avoid it bringing your face up.
“We’re really sorry,” Taehyung whispers beside you.
They blamed themselves for everything you had been through since the moment they left, but how could they undo it, how could they make this okay? His words don’t comfort you, they hurt you, they bring up the night they left all over again. But you feel the sincerity in his words, how hoarse it sounds, filled with every desire to turn the clock back. It brings tears to your eyes, it makes you choke on the emotion rising in your throat. You want it to be okay too, but you couldn’t erase the abandonment they left you with.
There’s a hand rubbing your back soothingly as your bottom lip trembles and your shoulders shake trying to keep the sobs down.
“It’s okay,” the hand on your back moves to your hair, and Taehyung rests his lips on your temple as he speaks. “We hurt you Princess, shout at us, let it out, cry, just stop holding it in.”
If you did as he said it would make you vulnerable again, you’d be letting them in and you don’t know if you’re ready for that. But he wasn’t wrong, holding all the pain down without a healthy form of release was making that gaping hole in your chest erode the rest of you away.
“I’m-m s-so a-angry-” you struggle to get your words out, having to take a shallow breathe with each word as they came out in a sob and it physically hurt you to speak. “At all o-of you.”
Tae’s crying too, Jungkook’s behind you but you can hear him sniffle. You lean into the Taehyung, pushing your face into his neck as you close your eyes and break down, he doesn’t hesitate to bring his arms around you when you think you’re about to fall.
“You had each other,” you wail, not caring at how deranged you sounded. “I had no one, you left me when I was injured!” Your head drops to his chest as you bang your fist against Taehyung’s chest finally letting it all out, and he takes it without bracing himself for each hit. “I needed you and you guys broke me.
Who was I supposed to talk to? Do you know how ridiculous it sounds to the people of my world. My bodyguards abandoned me, so fucking what? Get new ones.”
You grip his top that’s stained with your tears, you’re so angry, so heartbroken and the only people that would listen and help where the ones to cause you this pain.
“But you weren’t just my guards, you were my friends and I thought you all felt the same.”
There’s a whisper of “we do” but you ignore it.
They’ve never seen you like this, not when Taeyeon revealed her true colours, not when Sana moved away, you had said goodbye to people before, it was a part of life but nothing compared to when they left you, and you knew why, you just didn’t want to admit to it out loud. You didn’t want their pity, the pathetic Princess who had no friends who fell in love with her knights in shining armour, the people who were employed to ensure your safety. Misplaced feelings because you had no one else, you could hear Namjoon’s lecture already. They had never see you that way, if they had they wouldn’t have left.
If only you knew the thoughts running through the rest of their brains, how could they tell you they were compromised, that they broke your trust by falling for you, that every protocol dictated to them in their training stated they couldn’t keep a charge safe if they had feelings for them, they had to resign. Looking back it was the worst decision they ever made, but at the time it seemed like the most appropriate.
You scoff through your tears, “if you felt the same you would’ve at least come to see me, but you didn’t, you would’ve at least called or texted but you blocked my number, I tried to contact you everyday for the first two weeks and it was like you all didn’t exist anymore.”
There’s a grasp softly pulling you out of Taehyung’s hold and he whines as you’re taken away. Namjoon’s eyes are red, he looks like he’s on the brink of tears himself, but he holds it together.
“We’re so sorry Y/n,” he could never stop saying it, even if he did earn your forgiveness it could never assuage the guilt that weighed on them. “We honestly thought it was the right thing to do, if we kne-”
“On what planet was that ever the right thing to do Joon?” You cut him off, you didn’t want excuses.
“We made a mistake, leaving you was a mistake but we made one before that,” you frown at his words, what mistake? He contemplates his words but there’s no way mince them, no way to make what he’s about to say any easier. He’s not trying to make excuses, he’s not trying to justify his behaviour he just wanted to be honest. “We fell in love with our charge, the biggest offence we could commit, the biggest threat to your safety was us.”
He watches your eyes go wide as tears streamed down your face, he waited for your disgust, your displeasure.
“We are so in love with you Princess, it killed us to leave you but you have to believe me when I say we thought it was for the best.”
You can’t breathe. He wants you to say something, he needs you to say something, anything. You just stare at him in disbelief until you find the words to speak.
“Are you so stupid?” You gasp, gaze flickering to all their faces, theyre holding their breaths. “Are you all so blind that you couldn’t see that I was in love with you too?”
It was Namjoon’s turn to stare at you in disbelief, their jaws dropped.
“How stupid could you be Namjoon! Did you even think for a seco-” your voice is muffled by his chest as he pulls you into him, and he finally lets himself cry. You were right he was so stupid, he always prided himself on his intellect but look at the mess he made. He holds you like he’d never let you go, tight like you’d disappear in his arms.
“I’m so sorry Y/n, I’m so sorry,” he whimpers and it breaks your heart, you’ve never heard the leader sound like this. You sigh deeply in his arms, warmth finally starting to fill the hole.
“It’ll be alright Joonie,” you hug him back and he’s so grateful for you in that moment. “We’ll work through it.”
You have to believe that you will. More arms wrap around you both, tears of relief, tears of hope mixed with apologetic whispers, words of comfort. You feel the warmest you have in months.

Pastries & Memories
Relationship: Dark!Bucky Barnes x Innocent!Reader Warnings: manipulation, mentions of stalking, gaslighting, mentions of kidnap and harm Summary: The smell of pastries brings back triggers the unsettling memory of how you actually met Bucky. But when you confront him, there's no telling what's right anymore. A/N: i’ve been really into dark fics lately and naturally wanted to give it a shot! this certainly isn’t the wildest, darkest piece out there but this is me just dipping my toes in the water. i hope it’s still enjoyable!
Masterlist
He had taken you in. Comforted you. Welcomed you. Loved you. Saved you. Protected you.
At least — that was how your brain fuzzily pieced it together. How you actually ended up living in this apartment was a bit beyond your reach mentally. You could remember the outdoors, walking somewhere… then… then you were off. Bucky, you thought, told a different story.
But none of it actually mattered, really. In reality, you felt like you had always been with him. You two had finally connected one day and the rest had become history. He was all you needed. A lover, a protector, a rock.
You reeled in your wandering mind as you stood at the kitchen counter cutting up some strawberries. There was a little farmers market that had set up in the city last week and after a little persuasion, Bucky allowed you to check it out. He gave you some cash and you had chosen the most lovely looking strawberries. You felt a bit proud of yourself for venturing out of the apartment completely unaware that he was tailing you closely as you went, always on the lookout for his best girl.
When you had gotten back to the apartment that afternoon, he had pestered you about what you were going to make with the berries. You had giggled and pushed him away, commenting on how he hovered around like an anxious puppy. You hadn’t seen the stiff stance he took as darkness flashed in his eyes.
Truthfully, you hadn’t really decided what you were going to make with them at the time. Indecisive, you asked Bucky to look for some strawberry recipes online. Your internet access was greatly limited by your protective boyfriend but you didn’t really mind. Whatever was out there nowadays couldn’t have been more important than your love — well, except for strawberry treats, you realized.
Bucky obliged and hunted around for some baking blogs for you to browse. Eventually, you had settled on a fresh strawberry pie. The filling didn’t call for a jam like the others did, instead choosing to highlight the lusciousness of the fresh fruit. That sounded perfect for these lovely berries.
So, there you stood, dicing them carefully as you waited for the pie crust to get done with its par-bake. Bucky had collected the items for you from the store earlier that week but you wouldn’t give him a clue as to what you were baking. He had seemed pretty upset with that, almost threatening to not pick up the items, but then you explained you wanted to surprise him. He worked hard, you said, and he deserved to come home to some fresh baked goods.
Although, you maybe should’ve told him when you were going to make it.
As you were just finishing up with the strawberries, Bucky walked through the apartment door, giving a resounding "hello" to you. You greeted him back.
Bucky placed a large kiss on your cheek and proceeded to place a paper bag on the counter next to you. The outside of it had a logo for the bakery you thought you had read about just a few streets over. You frowned at the sight. Why…
"Oh, gosh," Bucky sighed as he looked around at the hectic kitchen. "I’m sorry, doll. I didn’t realize you were making your strawberry thing today. I wouldn’t have stopped at the bakery."
Your eyes shot from the bag to your boyfriend. "T-That’s fine, honey. I should’ve told you."
"Well, I guess you can never have too many sweets, right?" He asked with a light chuckle. You smiled in return, your mind still taking in that bakery bag. Bucky walked over to it now and opened it, letting the fresh smell of pastries hit your nose. You nearly jumped out of your skin.
You knew that smell — how did you know that smell? You gave an odd sniff, taking in the scent of baked dough and custardy filling. You knew that. A cheese danish. How did you know that?
Tears began forming in your eyes but you weren't exactly sure why — hell, you weren’t sure of anything right now. Where had this overwhelming sensation appeared from? The danish? Were you just hungry? Your hands were shaking. You saw the bakery flash in your mind. You had walked past it before — why would you have done that? Bucky never let you go that way citing the city safety. But you had once.
You were walking past the bakery, suddenly craving a pastry. But you didn’t stop for one. No — it was early morning and you were late. Late for what? You didn’t work. Except that maybe you had.
Bucky came into frame now. His smile was wide but his eyes were dead. He said some words — you couldn’t make them out — and you tried stepping around him. He didn’t like that. Of course not. Bucky was a stickler when it came to listening to him, to say the least. But you knew that was always for the best so why did you disobey him that time? He grabbed your arm in the memory. And then there was a pain in your neck. You were under now. Into the darkness.
You gasped as the memories suddenly dissolved. A hand was gripping your arm once more. But this time was very real and it was from a very, very concerned Bucky.
"Doll?" He asked, his eyes growing with worry and…anger? "What’s wrong?"
You couldn’t blink the tears away fast enough. What was that? Your mind was swimming as you tried finding some words to answer Bucky.
"N-Nothing."
"Nothing?" He frowned. "You’re crying."
A ding came from the oven. You mumbled a silent thank you and quickly went to tend to your pie crust. You pulled it out and placed it on the cooling rack before turning back to your strawberry filling. According to this recipe it needed a few more items…
"Sweetheart," Bucky’s voice boomed through the apartment. You jumped, nearly forgetting he was standing right over you. Your obliviousness far from an accident. "What’s going on?"
You eyed the bakery bag. Bucky had now taken the pastries out and placed them on a platter. Cheese danishes confirmed. You gulped.
"Could you… Could you tell me about the day we met, again?" You asked the question slowly, carefully, as that bakery logo flooded your mind. It was abruptly disrupted by Bucky plunging something into your neck. You shook your head and turned back to the filling, adding what was instructed.
Your question wasn’t really a weird one. You enjoyed hearing the story of how you two met as your memory was not really the best these days. You never did find out why…
"We met at a coffee shop," Bucky explained. You could tell he was suspicious but he amused you nonetheless. "I had seen you a few times in there before and, thankfully, one day I got the courage to speak to you. I asked you what book you were reading and you told me about it. We talked until closing time. I couldn’t get you out of my mind from that point on."
You nodded, letting the familiar story wash over you. This time, though, it felt so foreign. Like it was a fairytale. Too perfect. Too natural. You looked at the pastries, halting all progress on the pie.
"Well, then," you said, "I guess I just had the weirdest thoughts."
Bucky took a step closer to you. His front was nearly fully pressed into your back. "What kind of thoughts?"
You shook your head. "It’s silly-,"
His hand gripped your arm tightly. "Tell me."
You wanted to turn away. Wanted somehow to get out of this position. This wasn’t how today was supposed to go. You were supposed to surprise him with a nice pie once he got home. He’d shower you with love and thank you’s before you turned your attention to dinner. While you made dinner, he’d watch some sports game on the television. You two would then eat like a nice couple and Bucky would compliment you profusely. That was how it all should’ve gone. That was how the good days went.
You wanted today to be a good day. But it was turning into a bad one real fast despite how much you really didn’t want to go down that path. Bad days were few and far between now but you remembered them in bits and pieces from the beginning of your relationship. They were just glimpses but, boy were they strong. You had forgotten things a lot or took long to understand something and Bucky had little patience for it back then. There was the pushing, the yelling, the degrading… No, no. You couldn’t turn down there but you couldn’t lie—
"I saw myself walking," you said, the words tumbling out before you could stop them. "It was a nice morning it seemed and I had walked past that bakery." You pointed to the bag. Bucky stiffened. "I thought I wanted a pastry but I was…late? I don’t remember the details and then you were suddenly there. You said something and eventually took me by the arm. Then there was a pain in my neck. It all went black."
There. The words were out. You explained it and now all you could do was pray and pray and pray that nothing bad came from this. You couldn’t stop your thoughts, really. Something happened there. That damn bakery, you guessed.
"Doll," Bucky tsked. He didn’t sound too angry just…dismissive. "Maybe you should go lay down. You’re not thinking right."
Your jaw went slack as you turned around. Bucky’s hand left your arm but you were now pressed against the counter, his body practically toppling over yours. Still, you looked up at him, in a bit of shock. He looked pretty calm — not at all mad, thankfully — as he stared down at you in worry.
"I— I think I know what I saw, Bucky," you insisted. He shook his head.
"You know your memory isn’t very good, honey," he said. "I think maybe you’ve been reading too many of those thriller novels. Might be mixing up fiction and reality." He motioned towards the bookshelf in the apartment holding your favorite books. Your brows furrowed at it. You owned maybe two thrillers and neither dealt with…anything like that.
"But it was me in the memory. I swore I was walking and there — there was that bakery!" You exclaimed, pointing at the bag. "You were there in front of me. Why were you there, Bucky? Did… Did something happen?"
Bucky’s jaw clenched as he looked over you. His eyes were a bit darker now, taking in your stubborn form. You tried holding your ground under his gaze but you were too intimidated by him. Besides, a bad day could be upon you. But you also felt your curiosity was justified and he hadn’t snapped right away. Was there really something to this?
But Bucky just shook his head again. "I really don’t know what you’re talking about," he sighed. "Why would you have even been over by that bakery? I tell you to stay away from there, don’t I? Unless you’ve been sneaking out."
Your jaw dropped fully this time. That was near to impossible it felt like not to mention it was absolutely something you’d never do. You’d never break Bucky’s trust like that. You knew the consequences that could come from it. They could even follow if he had just thought you did something. That was another part of the path you had to steer from.
"N-No!" You placed your hands on his chest, trying to reason. "I didn’t, Bucky, I swear. Y-You’re right. I’d never be over there, that’s such a silly thought to have. I must’ve read about it or something. The newspaper can be so graphic sometimes." You now prayed you were handling this right.
Bucky’s eyes searched you fiercely as you waited for his judgment to reign down upon you. He took your hands in his in an almost crushing hold. You tried to steady your breathing. Every word was pretty true. It must’ve just been something insane you had read. This could never happen to you. Not with someone like Bucky around. Your protector in many ways.
Eventually, Bucky nodded and said, "I’m canceling the paper subscription until you get better. I don’t want you getting scared like this, sweetheart." A beat. You let out a sigh of relief. "That means no more thriller novels either, okay? I need my sweet girl back. You’ve become so jittery." With that explanation, Bucky pulled you into a hug, his arms tight around you. You reciprocated, throwing your arms around his neck. You were glad he couldn’t see your confused expression. You hadn’t become jittery…had you? Maybe this outburst was a sign of something to come. Bucky was pretty smart when it came to stuff like that.
"I’m sorry to worry you," you mumbled.
Bucky pulled away. He forced you two eye-to-eye once more. His hand came to your cheek, caressing softly. "I just want to protect my girl, okay? That’s a lot of bad things out there."
You agreed and Bucky gave a small smile before placing a soft kiss on your lips. He eventually broke the hug and you watched as he took the bakery bag and its treats. Both were immediately dropped into the trash.
"What did you do that for?" You asked. You actually wouldn’t mind a cheese danish now.
Bucky shrugged, his smirk doing little to hide the concern for you. "Who needs that when my girl is making me a homemade pie?" Bucky took a strawberry from the bowl and popped it in his mouth. You gasped at his action, swatting his hands away while he laughed like a child.
The situation was now suddenly long forgotten. So fast, so swift. As he had wanted.
You turned back to the pie filling, completely oblivious to Bucky’s sudden change in expression. His dark eyes roamed over you like a hawk to prey.

What I'd Do For You:
-imagine Roy as your adoptive father
-he'd be so flawed but he'd try his hardest
-I write for females because that's what I'm most comfortable with, but it's not too prominent (please don't be offended! It's only what I'm comfortable with!)
Summary: You're feeling down. Roy's here to help.
Today was nothing short of a bad day. It poured as soon as you stepped out of the house, and before you could grab your umbrella, you realised you were going to be late. Not long after, you ran straight into Ed and Al, who both ignored you in favour of chasing some guy down the street.
Whatever, you told yourself. Not like I needed a 'hi' from my best friends anyway.
Not long after, a car zoomed by and splashed muddy water at you. If it weren't for the rain, you'd be caked in the stuff. As you continued down the street, some guy thought it would be fun to mug you. Of course, when he found out you were a state alchemist, he made a run for it. But that didn't make you feel better, not when there were people staring at you like you were a nuisance.
What did you ever do to them anyway? Maybe it was just the fact today was a terrible Monday afternoon.
When you got to Roy's office, your clothes were sopping wet, your hair a matted mess, and your heart, very much hardened and cold. You softly closed the door behind you. There was no point in slamming it when you didn't have the energy to be angry in the first place.
"(Y/n)?" Roy stared at you incredulously. "What happened to you?" You pointed to the window.. The pouring rain and gray clouds were enough of an answer. "Everything happened, that's what." He raised a brow with a short sigh. "'Everything' is quite vague, don't you think?" He stood and made his way to a cabinet. From seemingly nowhere, he found a towel and threw it at you.
"Thanks Roy." You ran it through your hair and placed it on the couch to sit on. It was just as wet as your clothes, but it wasn't like anyone had a blow dryer on hand. Roy took a seat across from you on the opposing couch. "Care to tell me what happened today?"
You thought back to the Elric brothers, then the mugging and everything else you had to go through today. Roy listened intently. "Why did you leave the house so late?" he inquired. "You could have been here at eight o'clock sharp if you hadn't been up all night reading. Then you could have avoided that mugger, the rain, and everything in between." You huffed. "So what? Changing one thing wouldn’t change the day. And besides, it was a good book. What else was I supposed to do?"
"Put it down." Roy plainly offered. "Save that 'last page' for tomorrow, or better yet, sleep before three in the morning." You didn't like the way he was looking at you, as if he were deciding on whether he should be disappointed, frustrated, or annoyed with you. But bad habits died hard. It wasn't easy to break out of those cycles.
You leaned back into the couch. Defeat crossed your eyes, and that was when Roy realized how tired you looked. It wasn't because of your constant travels, or the fact that Edward and Alphonse ignored you completely (he'd give them a piece of his mind later on), but because you were burnt out.
And maybe feeling a bit down.
"You've been studying a lot." Roy stated. You didn't need him to point out the obvious. It was no secret you were doing your best to help the Elric brothers on their journey towards finding their bodies. "Have you found anything useful?" You shook your head with a tight frown. There was so much you needed to work out, so many variables that didn't add up, and so many frauds you needed to uncover.
"Whenever we're close," you mumbled, "our goal keeps getting farther away. Sometimes I feel so useless while Ed and Al go off on their own accord. I just...I don't know." Your shoulders slumped and Roy's heart began to ache. "It's so hard, and I'm really..." A sigh escaped your lips.
"Tired?" Roy finished. He knew that look well, the one where your eyes darkened with clouds and you looked like you wanted to scream when you couldn't. Long ago, he had the same look. Silently, he swore he'd never do it again. At least, not when you were around.
Seeing that same look on your face made him sick to the stomach. "Take a day off," he started. "The Lieutenant is here so don't worry. As for the Elric brothers, I don't think they'll need your help now. They’re fine as is if you ask me." Roy winced at his words. He didn't mean to make it sound like you were unwanted. In fact, he wouldn't do that even if he was paid.
"Maybe I'm not needed by them anymore.” you concluded. “They're busy anyway, so they won't miss me. It’s been weeks since we last talked actually. And besides, Ed’s really great at everything he does. Same with Al. They’re skilled, smart, everything I’m not." You smiled and it was a bit watery.
Roy's lips parted. No, no, no, that wasn't what he meant. The urge to punch himself in the face was overwhelming. Why was he so bad at wording things?
You stood and folded the wet towel. "I'll take the day off. I'm not sure what I'll do though."
"Wait--"
"If you need me, I'll be around the block somewhere." You looked like you were about to cry, and all Roy could do was watch. He wanted to say something, but what if he made it worse? Saying 'Don't cry!' wasn't exactly comforting, and by the looks of it, you weren't in the mood to talk anything through.
A forced smile made its way to your lips. "I'll be back later Roy."
And just like that, you were gone. The door closed shut with a small click, leaving Roy alone in the quiet office. He stared at the phone on his desk tensely. Hughes was good with people, and he knew how to talk to (Y/n) better than most. If Roy called then maybe...
No. Why should he have to rely on Maes? This was (Y/n). He could deal with his daughter just fine. "Teenagers." He found himself making his way to the phone "Why are they so hard to understand?” The familiar beeping sounded on the other end as he dialed the number.
“Hello, could you connect me to Maes Hughes?”
-----
The lone bench you took refuge on was lonely. But you were fine with that. Here, no one could see you through all the pouring rain and darkened clouds. As your tears mixed in with the cold droplets, you stared into the far off distance. The trees swayed in the occasional breeze and you shivered.
Maybe you should have brought a coat.
Suddenly, the rain stopped pounding against your head. Your dampened hair had rivers flowing down it, and the tears that quietly came to a stop left your cheeks with stains.
“So this is where you’ve been,” a voice calmly said. You didn’t need to look up to know who it was. Why, after an hour, did he come looking for you in the rain? It wasn’t like it mattered. Roy settled by your side, the umbrella hovering above. “Here,” he handed you your coat, “you’re shivering.”
You pushed the coat away with a shake of your head. “I don’t need it.” There was a crack in your voice you covered with a cough. If Roy noticed or not, he didn’t show it. Instead, he helped you put on the coat. “It would be inconvenient if you were sick,” he decided. “How are you supposed to help the Elrics with a cold?”
That didn’t matter. The Elrics were busy for all you cared, and it wasn’t like they needed you anyway. “I’m dead weight, dad.” The words made your eyes sting again. “They don’t-t-they don’t need me.”
“And why is that?” Roy’s gentle tone made the tears fall fast. “Because, dad, I’m useless. Edward’s so much better at everything. He--he’s always saving the day and figuring out all of this country’s problem’s. And...and when I try to help, I always mess it up.”
You thought back to earlier today, where you bumped into the boys spontaneously. They might’ve been busy, but they blatantly ignored you. And the fact that they hadn’t called all week made you worry. Had you done something wrong? No, maybe they didn’t care for you anymore because you were so useless.
“I...I don’t know what to do.” With the umbrella over your head, Roy saw every tear as clear as day. He watched your shoulders tense and your fists clench into tight fists. You were trying to stop crying, but the tears kept coming and coming like a river.
How useless of you.
“Come here.” You didn't want Roy to see your face. “Come here,” he repeated. You hesitantly scooted closer to him on the soaking bench. He held the umbrella in his left hand and pulled you close with his other. When was the last time he actually hugged you like this? He couldn’t remember, and that made him feel guilty.
Was it his fault that you thought so lowly of yourself? Maybe he should have been more adamant on showing how proud he was of your accomplishments. Becoming a State Alchemist at this age was more than a simple privilege. It was a precedent that no generation had ever seen in their lives.
“Why do you compare yourself to Fullmetal?” he inquired, rubbing your arm comfortingly. “He’s not you.”
“But he’s better than me and I can’t measure up to him.” Roy shook his head dismissively. For a moment, you wondered you disappointed him. “It doesn’t matter what Fullmetal is, (Y/n). He’s strong, I admit, but the most hot-headed kid I’ve ever met. Unlike him out, you never let emotions blind your choices. That’s something Fullmetal can’t do. As for strength, you don’t need that.”
He smiled a little and it was so warm. It wasn’t everyday you got to see this side of Roy. He was always caught up in paperwork, plans, and looking after what he worked so hard to accomplish. “You have enough wits to outsmart me. Remember that time Fullmetal challenged me to a match?”
You nodded. “I joined because I didn’t think he could handle it. Ed didn’t want my help, but I ended up coming along anyway.” A smug smirk made its way up Roy’s lips. “And who lasted the longest?”
“Me.”
“And why was that?”
"Because I read your attack patterns?" You uncertainly replied. Roy frowned. "Say it like you mean it."
"Because I read your attack patterns." you repeated. An approving look made its way up your dad's face. "Exactly. Fullmetal has wit, but you are a much more terrifying opponent." You sniffled with a huff. "I'm not--I'm not even close to your level."
"You don't have to be." Roy turned his gaze to the pouring rain, as if he were thinking about how useless his alchemy would be. "If you believed in yourself more, then you will advance farther than you've already come."
That wasn't true. How could you believe in yourself when you felt like an absolute failure? It didn't matter how many successes you've had in the past, because what if they were all flukes? Some day, your luck would run out. Then you'd let your dad down, along with Ed and Al and Hawkeye and Uncle Maes and everyone else you knew.
"You're not a failure, if that's what you're thinking." Roy blurted out. "I couldn't be more proud of how far you've come. The day I met you, I thought I'd fail you. Look where we are now." He laughed a little and it made you relax in his hold. "If you were a failure, you wouldn't have become a reowned State Alchemist. You wouldn't have survived in the most dire times either, and you wouldn't have made me so proud of you."
Your eyes widened. Had you heard him right? You had to be hearing things. Roy met your gaze and smiled warmly. "Yes, I'm proud of you. Why wouldn't I be?" For a moment, you remained still. The gears in your head churned like clockwork, dissecting and rewinding the words Roy had spoken. You tentatively wrapped your arms around Roy's middle.
Yes, I'm proud of you.
You buried your head into his shoulder.
Why wouldn't I be?
And then you cried. Today was nothing short of a bad day, but if you hadn't forgotten your umbrella, gotten ignored by the Elrics, nearly mugged, or showed up late, then you wouldn't have been able to hear those words and the silent I love you's.

Kissing Scott felt like Jimmy was cradling sunlight in his hands. Something that should have been impossible, and yet all the same it was happening. And now that Scott had Jimmy, he seemed determined not to let him go. Not that Jimmy was exactly complaining about Scott’s new mission to kiss him breathless- but considering not too long ago Scott was trying to make him breathless in an entirely different sense, and that the others didn’t even know what all went down… they should probably stop. So with great regret, Jimmy tried to pull away from Scott- key word there being tried.
“Scott, c’mon, let go of me,” Jimmy chuckled, dodging yet another kiss. Scott settled for pressing his lips to Jimmy’s cheek before tucking his head under Jimmy’s chin. His wings shifted to curl around the both of them, and as nice as it felt, they really needed to get up from the floor so that Jimmy could let his friends know what happened.
“Mm… no,” Scott hummed with a giggle.
“We should probably tell the others what happened- they all think you’re still fighting off the corruption, or are possessed,” Jimmy pointed out.
“I don’t see why we can’t just tell them later,” Scott pouted. Jimmy let out a fond, incredulous sigh.
“You also haven’t properly eaten anything in a few days, you’ve been living off of splash health potions for the most part,” Jimmy said sternly.
“Well, I know something I’m hungry for,” Scott teased, and Jimmy didn’t even need to see his face to know that he was smirking. Jimmy sighed again.
“And I thought you were incorrigible when we hated each other,” he commented with a chuckle. Scott pulled away enough to look at Jimmy with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“You’re stuck with me now, better get used to it, sweetheart,” he murmured. Jimmy could feel his face warm up considerably at the petname, and Scott grinned at the sight. Well, two could play that game.
“You say that like it’s a bad thing, sunshine,” Jimmy replied with a grin. Scott’s eyes went wide, and he flushed pink all the way to the tips of his ears.
“Oh you can flirt back now. Right,” Scott managed to get out, voice coming out a bit strained. Jimmy just grinned wider.
“So what do you say, sunshine? How about we let everyone know that neither of us are dead and that you’re also not possessed?” Jimmy offered. Scott made a flustered sound at being called “sunshine” again, but collected himself enough to let out a sigh of defeat.
“Fine,” he grumbled, before getting up off of Jimmy. Jimmy stood up as well- just in time to catch Scott as he suddenly tilted to one side. Scott was leaning against Jimmy heavily, and Jimmy looped an arm around his waist as he tried to keep Scott upright.
“Scott?!” Jimmy gasped, unable to keep the panic from his tone.
“M’okay- think that lack of actual food thing is catching up to me. Just stood up too fast and got dizzy, that’s all,” Scott reassured him, standing up a bit more but still holding on to Jimmy, just to be sure.
“Then we’d really better tell the others so that we can work on getting your strength back,” Jimmy said with a relieved smile. He led Scott over to the lever for the secret door, and the moment he flicked it, a group of people came tumbling in. Nearly all of them fell to the floor in a heap, except for Pearl and Pixl, who sheepishly smiled at Jimmy and Scott. Gem was the first to pick herself up from the floor, dusting off her robes and letting out a nervous laugh.
“We uh. We might have been listening for a little bit there! We just didn’t want to interrupt,” Gem explained sheepishly. The others picked themselves off from the floor as she spoke, and Shelby was the last to get up from the floor, holding a black shulker box to her chest.
“Where’d the corruption go, I’ve got a box for it!” Shelby chirped, peering around Jimmy and Scott. The two of them blinked in surprise, and Scott looked to his arm. The corruption was long gone, all that was left was a scar from the initial cut. Jimmy looked around the room, and soon spotted what was left of the corruption lying on the floor near where he and Scott had fought. It looked like a mass of red vines that twitched every so often, and Jimmy’s stomach turned with nausea at the sight. Scott seemed to notice Jimmy’s sudden distress, and followed his gaze, only for Scott himself to turn several shades paler than he already was as he clung to Jimmy a bit tighter. Shelby noticed where the two of them were looking, and quickly scrambled over to carefully gather up the corruption and put it in the shulker box.
“Hey, easy, just look at me- you’re okay,” Jimmy soothed, reaching out to gently turn Scott’s head towards him. Scott’s look seemed far away even as he was looking into Jimmy’s eyes, and he squeezed his eyes shut for a moment before blinking them open with a shaky sigh, gaze looking much more focused than before as he leaned his forehead against Jimmy’s.
“I think it’s probably good I’ve only been living off of health potions, pretty sure I would have just lost whatever I would have eaten right then,” Scott got out with a short laugh.
“So… how did you get the corruption out anyway?” Pixl asked after pointedly clearing his throat. Jimmy and Scott jumped slightly, pulling away from each other (but not far enough for Scott to be without standing support) with a pair of sheepish smiles.
“Well I uh. We were fighting, and I might’ve kissed Scott to throw him off, but it ended up being the push to snap him out of it and fight against the corruption,” Jimmy explained with a blush. Scott looked at Jimmy with a perplexed expression.
“Jimmy… I didn’t do anything against the corruption. It- before I woke up with you uh… holding me, the last thing I remembered was losing to another version of myself in some sort of red dreamscape. Your kiss saved me, not anything I did,” Scott explained. A series of adoring coos and gasps sounded from the group, and Jimmy felt his face burn.
“True love was the key this whole time?” Shelby pondered, looking down at the shulker box she held with the now contained corruption.
“Well- I- surely it’s gotta be more than that,” Jimmy managed to get out, feeling incredibly flustered.
“So a mix of love and wills, then. It sounded like Scott maybe could have beaten it on his own, he just needed the extra help!” Shelby replied with a shrug. Scott frowned.
“I don’t know, honestly. The other me- it- he?- was mostly toying with me, I think. Said something about how ‘he’ would be pleased to know that I was specifically under the corruption’s control,” Scott explained shakily.
“He?” Gem asked, brows furrowed in concern.
“The other me referred to some other person that he was sent by, maybe? Then when I asked about who the ‘he’ was, the other me said something about how I didn’t ‘remember’ and how that made me easy to control,” Scott continued.
“The corruption is sentient?!” Shelby gasped, holding the shulker box away from herself.
“And apparently sent by someone else? And seemed to already know you somehow?” Gem pondered. Scott shrugged helplessly.
“I don’t know. All I know is that it’s gone now, and I’m extremely glad for that,” Scott said, voice tight with nerves as the barrage of questions began to overwhelm him.
“And we’re glad you’re okay too!” Katherine piped up, stepping forward with a smile, clearly picking up on Scott’s discomfort. Scott blinked in surprise at her words.
“You.. are?” he asked in disbelief. Katherine just looked as surprised, if not more, than Scott did. The others had a mixture of concern and confusion on their faces as well, and Scott shifted uncomfortably at the attention.
“Why would I not be?” Katherine asked. Scott swallowed nervously.
“I- I knew about Fwhip’s plan for the ball, and didn’t say anything. Your- your castle was destroyed because I was too afraid to do anything about it,” he replied, voice barely above a whisper, as if he was afraid speaking any louder would awaken the wrath of those around him. An almost wounded expression came across Katherine’s face.
“Scott, even if I was still mad at you when we found you lying in front of Gem’s home, I wouldn’t have wanted you to die. Besides, between Fwhip’s gloating monologue and what we knew from what Pearl and Gem had told us, we know that you weren’t exactly a willing participant in Fwhip’s plan,” Katherine said softly, taking a slow step closer to Scott. His wings shifted anxiously, and Jimmy gently squeezed Scott’s arm to comfort him.
“I- you’re not mad?” he asked, voice still hushed and timid. Katherine smiled gently.
“No, I’m not. If castles can be rebuilt, so can friendships,” Katherine replied softly, holding out her arms. Scott barely hesitated at the invitation, letting go of Jimmy to instead hug Katherine tightly. Any remaining tension Scott held seemed to melt away as Katherine hugged him back. He hesitantly drew back after a few moments, a contemplative expression on his face.
“Is something wrong?” Jimmy asked. He reached out towards him, intending to put a comforting hand on his shoulder- but was pleasantly surprised by Scott taking his hand and tugging him closer so that they could stand side-by-side, fingers intertwined. Jimmy felt his face flush, and Scott smirked at him for a brief moment before schooling his expression into something more serious.
“So now that the uh- the corruption is dealt with. For now. Hopefully. Anyway what I’m trying to say is- what do we do about Fwhip and Sausage?” Scott asked. The others exchanged glances, seemingly having an entire conversation without words that Jimmy was hopelessly unable to decipher. Scott didn’t look like he knew what was going on either, and seemed a little apprehensive at that fact.
“We’ll protect you,” Katherine said firmly. The rest of the group nodded in agreement. Jimmy found himself nodding too- and to his shock, Scott seemed a little flustered.
“I- that’s a nice gesture, but not really what I meant- I was talking about them in a more general sense, not just if they try to come after me specifically. Again,” Scott explained with a sheepish laugh.
“Well I can definitely handle whatever they throw at us. Fwhip ran like a coward after I chased him away a few days ago,” Pearl said with a confident grin.
“Sausage won’t be an issue either, not with my magic to defend us!” Gem added.
“If I’m not gonna take out my rage on Scott for playing with Jimmy’s heart, then I guess I can settle for Fwhip or Sausage,” Lizzie said with a shrug. Scott paled slightly, and Jimmy frowned at Lizzie with a disapproving glare.
“Lizzie, you don’t need to be mad at him anymore, we made up!” Jimmy protested, raising their joined hands as proof.
“Think a little more than that happened,” Pixl commented dryly. Joel let out a laugh that he was quick to stifle, pushing at Pixl with one hand while covering his mouth with the other. Lizzie rolled her eyes at the two of them before looking at Jimmy again.
“Well I’m not mad because of that, but how do I know he’s good enough for you?” Lizzie said, glaring at Scott in a way that Jimmy could tell was playful, but Scott didn’t seem to realize that, wings stiffening before relaxing as he took a deep breath.
“I know I have a lot to make up for. And I know it’s not gonna be as easy as me nearly dying on you all to gain your trust again. But I’m willing to make an effort-” Scott paused, looking at Jimmy the gentlest he ever had, the ice in his eyes melting for Jimmy and for Jimmy alone- “because he’s worth it.”
“Scott…” Jimmy trailed off, unsure of what to say after all of that. Scott just smiled at him and squeezed his hand. Lizzie just blinked at them, dumbfounded for a moment.
“I was mostly just messing with you, but… I’m glad to know that you’re serious about him,” Lizzie said with a smile. Scott let out a breath of relief, smiling back before his expression settled into something more resolute.
“Speaking of serious, we should probably discuss more concrete defense plans in case of any other sort of attack from Fwhip and Sausage,” Scott said. Various sounds and mutters of agreement filled the room, and they began discussing defensive strategies- things like making moats, building walls, and sharpening their fighting skills. Jimmy didn’t contribute much to the conversation, not that he exactly had much to offer- but even if he did, he was too busy listening to Scott with rapt attention, a smitten expression on his face all the while.

“Nightwing! Regroup!” Bruce snapped into the comms again.
No matter how dire the situation was, they always stuck with their codenames while in uniform. But right now, Bruce wanted to scream at Dick to get his shit together.
Dick was quiet for a moment, allowing his family to only hear the roaring of his motorcycle as it zipped through the streets of Gotham.
“By the time we regroup, she’ll be dead,” Dick answered darkly.
This was the biggest difference between Dick and Bruce.
Dick wasn’t ruled by his emotions – except when it involved the safety of people he cared for and loved. When that happened, his emotions took control. It was very unlike Bruce, which just proved there were some things Dick simply couldn’t get trained out of him.
Bruce was always calm and collected – even when it was his kids that were in danger. Was he scared for Y/N’s life? Yes. But he also knew that panicking and going in hot was not going to help her. If anything, it would put more people in danger.
“Jason is following him,” Tim announced.
Jason might’ve refused to use comms, but they still had a tracker on his bike.
“What’s the plan?” Tim asked.
——————
Y/N probably looked like a drunk driver from the way she was serpentining to the heart of Gotham.
But she was tried to load a magazine into her gun as she ran every red light without getting t-boned by oncoming traffic.
It was…a lot. Especially since Y/N knew she were driving to her assassination.
It hadn’t been hard sneaking past the internal security at the manor. Y/N knew she could do it since she was brought there. But she decided to save that knowledge for the right time. And that was tonight. It was clearly designed mostly for Damian – or perhaps for any of the boys when they were younger and rebellious.
Then Y/N had to jumpstart the first car she saw parked on the street near Wayne Manor, which took longer than she had liked.
She might not have a lot of skills in the combat area. But she was rather resourceful in almost every other way – which included hijacking cars.
Y/N was so panicked about making it to the city before they could intervene, that her mind wasn’t really processing what was about to happen.
All Y/N knew was that she hoped they’d be done with it before any of them knew what was happening and could try to stop it.
She knew what they would’ve said. They would’ve told her to stay where she was and they would handle it. They would’ve done everything to keep her safe while also trying to save Gotham.
But Y/N couldn’t wait to see if she was responsible for the deaths of thousands while she sat on her ass and did nothing.
So she took her life into her own hands.
She gave enough information for them to use. Even if she was gone, she’d given them enough leads to finish the job without her.
Now her time was up.
Y/N knew eventually time would catch to her. She’d lived a far too risky life, threatened the most dangerous people, ruined the lives and locked up even more of dangerous people. It was only a matter of time before her luck ran out.
Y/N skidded the car to a stop. And she realized her hands were shaking as she threw the car into park.
She hadn’t stopped driving until she reached Old Gotham – right underneath the Clock Tower.
It was a nice, wealthy part of the city, which meant that there weren’t questionable people lingering on the streets.
In fact, it was eerily quiet – even for such a nice neighborhood. Y/N didn’t see a single person walking around in her vicinity.
But when she turned, there were five masked people watching her.
The Talons.
Their faces and bodies were completely covered, with their masks and goggles reminiscent of actual owls.
All of them had an arsenal of some sort of bladed weapon – countless knives, katanas, axes, or even broadswords. And, of course, they all had talons.
“So you are the irritant,” one of them greeted, his voice muffled from his gear.
Y/N took a step back as she grabbed her gun out of the back of her waist.
But she felt a presence behind her and whipped around to see more Talons surrounding her.
Did they really expect her to be able to put up that much of a fight?
“I’ve been called worse,” Y/N smirked.
She was clearly in denial that she was about to die.
They all unsheathed their weapons.
But Y/N wasn’t going to let them make the first move.
She started shooting bullets. Either they were wearing bullet-proof vests or they were blocking her bullets with their weapons. It was all happening so fast that she couldn’t figure it out. She knew her aim wasn’t off. Jason had been secretly teaching her how to shoot. And she’d gotten rather good with his help.
“Fuck,” Y/N hissed when her magazine was empty and she had failed to take down a single Talon.
As she tried to reload the magazine, their patience ran out.
One of them knocked the gun out of her hand, slicing the skin in the process.
Before Y/N could look down at the damage, another Talon wrapped his hand around her neck and lifted her off the ground like a doll.
“How can such a weak and pathetic woman have caused such a nuisance?” He cooed at her as he tilted his head, inspecting her.
Y/N couldn’t reply even if she wanted to.
Her hands were frantically trying to free herself, nails ripping at the armor and gloves of the Talon.
“Perhaps she could be of use to us,” one of them spoke up. “Unless she’d rather die…”
But before they could drop her or make a decision, someone dropped into the middle of the chaos with a blur.
Next thing Y/N knew, she was being dropped to the ground and coughing to recover her breath.
When she looked up, she saw Dick – no, Nightwing – taking on all of the Talons who were sent to kill her.
Yes, Y/N had frequently seen Dick train with Bruce and his brothers. However, this was something entirely different.
Y/N watched in shock as Dick used his escrima sticks to take out the Talons in droves. He flipped, kicked, punched, and moved in a way Y/N had never seen before.
There was a moment of pause that gave him the opportunity to meet her gaze.
“Y/N, run!” Dick screamed as he flipped away from the deadly claws of a Talon.
She blinked at his command and snapped out of her daze.
Jumping to her feet, she did as he said.
But she only got a few yards before two more Talons dropped in front of her and blocked her path.
Her fear was interrupted by bullets raining on them seconds before a motorcycle flew into her peripheral.
Red Hood did a front wheel break and swung his motorcycle so precisely that he managed to take out both of the Talons with the backend of his bike.
He turned to look at her. “Get on.”
But Y/N looked behind her at Dick, who was fighting Talon after Talon.
“What about Di–” she stopped herself from using his name. “What about Nightwing?!”
“Batman is on his way with the others. But right now, we have to get you out of here,” Jason yelled back.
Right on cue, the Batmobile came screaming toward them, as well as Tim on his motorcycle.
“Y/N, get on the motherfucking bike,” Jason warned her.
She turned around again and saw Dick now being aided by Damian, Tim, and Bruce. They were finally starting to overpower the Talons.
Clearly they hadn’t sent the numbers to defend themselves against the entire bat family. They probably assumed Y/N would head their warning and arrive unaccompanied. And Y/N did. But both her and The Court underestimated the vigilante family’s protectiveness towards her.
Y/N finally listened to Jason and jumped on the back of his motorcycle.
Barely giving her a second to adjust, Jason floored it and sped away from the fight as quickly as possible.
This motorcycle ride was nothing like the one Y/N shared with Dick.
Jason rode like bat out of hell, whipping around tight corners without slowing down. And even with her vice-like grip around his waist, Y/N felt like she could fly off at any moment. The wind stung against her skin like a million little needles.
“Where are we going?” Y/N tried to scream to him.
“We have to make sure they’re not tracking us before we return to the cave!”
Y/N couldn’t tell how long they had been driving around. But her arms and muscles were sore from the tension of holding on for dear life. She was so exhausted that if she hadn’t been so scared, she probably could’ve fallen asleep on the back of Jason’s motorcycle – even with his reckless driving.
Without any warning, Jason veered into a parking garage and went to the basement level where no cars were parked. He must’ve pressed a button because a hidden compartment was opening against the cement wall and suddenly they were driving through it.
Y/N got off the bike as soon as he stopped and looked around.
It must be one of his safehouses.
To her surprise, Jason took off his Red Hood helmet and then the domino mask underneath. He also grabbed some clothes that would either cover his Red Hood uniform or make it look like civilian clothing.
He pointed to a car, “Come on.”
Y/N followed him silently and got into the passenger seat.
It was a 20 minute ride back to the manor.
And it finally gave Y/N time to actually process what she had planned to do tonight.
“Wanna talk about it?” Jason asked after 10 minutes of silence.
“And say what?” She challenged.
He smirked. “I don’t know. Maybe how you enjoy playing sacrificial lamb.”
Y/N ground her teeth together. “That’s oversimplifying it, and you know it.”
Jason just shrugged.
“That’s it?” She asked when he didn’t follow up with any more questions. “Really? You’re not going to start lecturing me?”
“Oh, definitely not. ‘Cause you’re gonna get a shit ton of that when Bruce sees you – maybe even from Dick, if he’s not too overwhelmed with relief from seeing you in one piece. Which, by the way, you’re very lucky to be.”
Y/N had no response to that.
The rest of the ride was quiet, except for the local classic rock radio station that Jason decided to turn on.
To their surprise, no one was waiting in the cave for them. But Dick and Tim’s motorcycles were parked, as well as the batmobile. So they had clearly returned.
“That might not be a great sign…” Jason mumbled as got out of his civilian car. “Come on,” he nudged with his head as he started making his way to the stairs that led back into the manor.
When they got up, Jason followed the sounds of voices coming from the kitchen.
Y/N’s eyes immediately took in the group, worried that someone would be missing.
No one was in full uniform. Tim and Damian were in sweats. Bruce’s cape and cowl were gone, but his full body armor was still on.
The three of them and Alfred were all gathered around Dick, who was sitting on the island counter shirtless with nothing but his black compression shorts on.
One of his left eye was black, there was dried blood below his nostrils, his bottom lip was split and swollen. But Y/N’s eyes were only looking at the wound on his side that Alfred was currently stitching. Clearly one of the Talons’ swords found an in.
When the family heard Jason and Y/N’s entrance, all eyes were on them.
Dick looked relieved.
But Bruce? He looked livid.
“What the hell were you thinking?”
He didn’t yell. No, instead his voice was low and even. And it scared Y/N more than yelling ever could.
But she was too busy looking at Dick’s injuries with concern.
Then her gaze raced to Tim and Damian, looking them up and down to try and assess if they had any injuries. But they seemed in good shape.
“Y/N!” Bruce snapped.
Finally she acknowledged him.
“What?!” She growled in return.
“What were you thinking?”
“Bruce…” Dick warned quietly.
They had all seen Bruce get this way. And they all unfortunately had been on the other side of his wrath. They could see the telltale signs that Bruce was about to give one of his level-headed, but extremely disappointed speeches.
Except there was one big difference this time: Y/N wasn’t one of Bruce’s kids.
And by now, all of the boys had figured out that Bruce was feeling some kind of way about her. Even Damian had finally realized that Y/N wasn’t just an ally or fellow vigilante to his father.
“How about we all take in a deep breath and appreciate that none of us are dead?” Jason asked the group loudly. “Because we know that hasn’t always been on the case in the past…”
But Bruce ignored Jason and took a step to Y/N.
“You could’ve been killed,” he muttered quickly.
“I was trying to save innocent lives!” Y/N snapped.
“You should’ve told us as soon as you received the threat,” he countered.
“Why? So you could sideline me and make decisions about my fucking life?”
“We would have come up with a plan. One that did not involve you hot-wiring a car and driving to your death.”
“I was trying not to endanger anyone else, meaning all five of you!”
“And look how that ended,” Bruce answered darkly as she gesture to Dick, who was now stitched up and Alfred was putting a wrap around his torso.
“You can’t just shove your way into my life whenever you feel like it!” Y/N finally shouted at Bruce. “I was doing just fine before you added yourself to the situation.”
This wasn’t just about tonight anymore. The tension in their relationship had now flooded into the argument, finally reaching its boiling point.
“Tonight proved otherwise,” Bruce told her evenly.
But Bruce remaining too calm and showing no emotional reaction was only infuriating Y/N more.
“Hey!” Y/N yelled. “Just because I don’t put on a stupid costume and punch my way out of problems doesn’t mean you’re better than me. In fact, you would be screwed if it weren’t for me. You need me. You need me more than I need you.”
Bruce just glared at her.
“What? Nothing to say?”
“We can have a discussion when you stop behaving like a child.”
And it was finally what made Y/N snap.
She lunged at him.
What she planned on doing to him was beyond her. Everyone, including herself, knew she didn’t stand a chance against a petty fight with Batman. She probably couldn’t even land a punch if he let her.
Thankfully, she would never have to get that proven to her. Because Dick put a stop to it before it could actually start.
When he had moved off the counter and closer to their argument, she didn’t know.
But now Dick was finally intervening as he wrapped his arms around Y/N from behind her, pinning her arms to her side and pressing her back to his chest.
“A child?!” Y/N screamed as she tried to fight her way out of Dick’s grip. “Should I remind you that you fucked this ‘child’?!”
“Alright,” Dick warned her calmly. “That’s enough.”
“Let go of me!”
“Calm down,” he told her quietly.
Suddenly, Y/N remembered that Dick was injured, and he was injured because of her. And now she was thrashing against him, probably causing him harm and putting him at risk of opening the stitches Alfred had just finished.
“Fine,” she huffed. “I’m calm.”
But Dick waited a second or two before he decided to believe her.
When he let go, she lightly shoved him away from her and made her escape.
The whole family watched her leave, and felt the awkward tension that filled the room after she’d gone.
Tim looked shocked.
Jason glared at Bruce.
Damian seemed rather disappointed – in Y/N or his father, no one could figure out.
Dick eyed Bruce. “Great job,” he told him darkly.
Bruce just crossed this arms and sighed.
Dick gestured in the direction that Y/N went. “Aren’t you going to go after her?”
But he knew already from Bruce’s expression that he wasn’t going to anything of the sort.
“You know what, forget it.” Dick huffed before heading in the general direction that Y/N had escaped.
But Jason wasn’t going to let Bruce off the hook so easily.
“What the fuck is the matter with you?” He hissed.
“Stay out of it, Jason.”
“Stay out of it?” He mocked. “Yeah, it’s a little bit hard to do that when her safety has become a family matter.” Jason shook his head in disappointment and turned to leave, “I’m out of here.”
-----------
When Dick tried to retrace Y/N’s steps, he found the front door of the manor wide open. The sight was rather eerie for some reason. But Dick stepped onto the front of the manor and looked out at the land.
Had she made a run for the gate?
It wouldn’t be the first time tonight, clearly.
But after a few scans of the property, he eventually found her.
Despite the circumstances, Dick couldn’t help but smirk when he found Y/N sprawled on the great lawn of the manor, laying on her back and staring up at the stars.
He stood over her. “I’m surprised you didn’t make a run for it.”
“Oh, I tried,” she told him matter of factly. “Bastard’s already updated the security system from earlier tonight.”
“Believe it or not, that’s his way of saying he cares. Just ask Damian.” He slowly sat down on the lawn with her, but made sure to still give her some space.
“No. It’s his way of reminding me that he’s the one in control.”
Dick winced, knowing there was probably truth to that, too.
“He shouldn’t have said that to you,” Dick sighed.
Y/N scoffed. “What part?”
He hesitated before clarifying. “You’re not a child.”
She went quiet, not expecting him to get right to it.
“Well, we’re the same age…so of course you’d say that.”
Dick rubbed his face, knowing this was a losing battle. Nothing he said on the matter would bring her comfort.
Y/N finally looked away from the stars and her face scrunched in guilt and worry as she took in Dick’s fresh bandage. There was a pinkish blotch that showed just how big the wound was.
Slowly she sat up and turned to him. “Are you okay?” She whispered shakily.
He grinned at her concern. “Believe it or not, this is nothing.”
But Y/N still reached forward and cupped his face. Her thumb traced around his black eye, but made sure not to put any pressure on the swollen skin.
Dick leaned into her touch, not bothering to try and hide the affection.
“This is exactly what I didn’t want,” Y/N mumbled.
Dick opened his mouth, but then quickly changed his mind and closed it again.
“What?” She pushed.
But before Dick would answer, he slowly moved into her space. Then he pressed his forehead to hers.
“Please, don’t do anything like that again.”
His approach was different, but it was clear Dick and Bruce felt the same way about the stunt she had pulled.
Y/N was quiet.
“I understand why you did it. I really do.” He added quickly. “But just…” He paused and took in a shaky inhale. “Tonight scared the hell out of me, Y/N.”
“I’m sorry,” Y/N whispered.
“I know you are. I saw it on your face as soon as you saw my injuries.” His eyes went dark. “But we can’t do things like that. We have to work together or this is all going to explode in our faces.”
Y/N thought over his words.
His hands went to cup her face.
“Deal?” He pushed.
She nodded.
Then Dick’s eyes moved down to her throat. The blistering red was already fading and being replaced by purple and blue bruising.
His mind flashed back to earlier, how he saw her dangling by her throat and unable to escape the Talon’s grip. The sight had caused him to rush into battle, not thinking of a plan before doing so. It went against everything Bruce had taught him. But seeing Y/N’s life in danger made him black out.
“We should get some ice for your neck,” Dick muttered quietly.
Then he looked down at her hand. It had stopped bleeding, but the cut looked painful and there was dried blood surrounding it.
“Fucker sliced it when he knocked my gun out of my hand,” Y/N mumbled when she saw Dick staring at it.
He eyed her suspiciously. “And I suppose Jason’s been helping with that, huh?”
She cringed. “Maybe…”
Dick just huffed and shook his head.
He started getting up, “Come on. Let me clean that cut and get some ice for your neck.”
But Y/N pulled him back down.
“Wait. Can we…Can we just stay for a bit?” She asked quietly, and then pointed up and laid back down in the grass to stare up at the sky.
Dick smirked and nodded.
He joined her, moving closer this time so their shoulders touched.
“You can actually see the stars out here,” Y/N sighed.
The smog and city lights of Gotham made them invisible.
But now they were far enough to see a few.
Dick thought about all the places he used to travel to with the circus. Some of them were so far removed from society that he could see every single star at night.
But he didn’t tell Y/N that this was nothing compared to those places.
Instead, Dick just slowly moved his hand and grabbed Y/Ns, interlacing their fingers. A part of him expected her to pull away. But she squeezed his hand and kept looking up.
Alfred found Bruce in the library, looking out the windows.
When he joined his side, he saw what Bruce was looking at: Dick and Y/N laying on the grass of the great lawn, stargazing.
“You’re disappointed in me,” Bruce said without taking his eyes off the two.
“I said nothing of the sort, Master Wayne.”
Bruce frowned. “You don’t have to.”
“She is not another charge, Master Wayne.” Alfred sighed. “Therefore you should not treat her as such.”
“I’m trying to keep her safe.”
“Why do you think she said nothing of the threat?” Alfred countered. “Why do you think she did not believe she could trust you?”
Bruce said nothing.
“You put the safety of Gotham over your own life every night, Master Wayne.” Alfred continued. “Yet you are so spiteful towards others who do the same.”
That finally made Bruce turn away from the window to look at Alfred.
“You owe her an apology,” Alfred finally confirmed. “Even if Master Dick has become rather good at cleaning up your messes.”

Searching For Calm
Pairing: Sky x Stella. Sky x reader.
Request: Maybe you could write a Sky one where reader is always there for him and he just sees Stella. So the reader (mind fairy) shuts herself out and it takes some time for him to notice. Anonymous
A/N Ignore the text on the gif. I couldn’t find one I liked for this fic.
Tumblr media
“Are we still on for tonight?” you ask knowing what’s coming but hoping you’re wrong. Sky doesn’t notice your face fall when he shakes his head.
“Sorry, I promised Stella she could come over. She had a rough day.” You want to scream at him that every day is hard for you. Every day you wake up and feel every emotion that runs through Alfea. Happy, sad, lonely, scared. Some days you can’t even figure out which feelings are your own. You want to confess how the only calm you ever feel is when you’re with Sky, but it doesn’t matter. He only has eyes for Stella.
“Yeah, no problem. Talk tomorrow then?” He never has the chance to answer. Stella sits down on his lap stealing away the short time you and Sky had alone. You literally feel her dislike as she turns slightly your way.
“Oh, I didn’t see you there.”
“Yeah. There’s a lot of things you didn’t notice,” you mumble hinting at the five empty chairs around the table but they’re already to consumed by each other to pay any more attention to you.
“Bye, Sky.” There’s no reply, but you didn’t expect one. It’s been 2 months like this ever since Stella decided that Sky was good enough for her despite her dumping him over the summer to spend time with other boys. A fact they’ve both decided to ignore. You put on headphones hoping it might help you drown out everyone’s emotions. You know Farah told you to focus on shutting other people’s emotions out, to only feel them when you want to. But lately, you haven’t been able to focus and you have a suspicion it might be related to the way Sky’s been treating you.
“They’re locking tongues again. It’s getting disgusting.” Riven appears next to you with a sour look on his face. The one person who just might hate the relationship more than you.
“I know. He cancelled on me again.”
“He’s treating you like trash.” You sense his anger more than you see it. You’ve been a trio since you were young and Stella has gone ahead and ruined that. She dislikes you and Riven and for some reason Sky always chooses her. You guess love really does blind people.
“He treats you like trash too,” you counter not ready to face the truth yet.
“Yeah, but most of the time I deserve it. You, however, doesn’t ever deserve it.” He’s radiating affection as he looks at you. He’s well aware of your crush on Sky and he’s made his feelings clear on more than several occasions that you deserve someone who actually cares. He’s like your big brother, always looking out for you.
“I was thinking I might just take some time to myself. See if he misses me.” It’s a very cruel game that you’ll be playing with yourself because you know he won’t notice. Not as long as he’s dating Stella. Riven puts his arm around you as you walk down the hallway.
“I think that’s the smartest thing you’ve said in months.” You nudge him lightly but regrettably have to agree with him. In the next couple of weeks, you stay away from Sky. And even though you already knew his reaction, it still feels like someone is pulling at your heartstrings when you see him being just fine. It’s like he doesn’t even realise that you’re not around. Riven tries his hardest to cheer you up, but now that you’re without any comfort from your powers, you feel the toll much more than before. You start sleeping in Riven’s bed whenever Sky stays over at Stella’s. There’s nothing more than friendly comfort in it. Slowly, Riven becomes your escape from everyone else and it feels so good. You know you shouldn’t depend on others to help you cope with your feelings but it’s all you can do right now. Tonight is one of those nights where Riven has the room to himself. Or at least that’s what he’s been told by Sky but for some reason he stumbles through the door in the middle of the night.
“Y/N?” He sees you first. There’s no missing the feeling of betrayal going through him. You know exactly what he’s thinking. Riven? Really? It’s all over his face and you hate it. You hate that he gets to judge you when he hasn’t talked to you in weeks.
“I thought you were going to be with Stella tonight?” Riven starts to stir next to you.
“We got into a fight. What are you doing here?”
“I’m sleeping.” You know you should tell him that there’s nothing between you and Riven but there’s a small, petty part of you that really likes how he feels right now.
“Yeah, but with Riven? Are you dating or something?” He’s trying to act unbothered but you’re both painfully aware of your ability to feel everything he feels.
“That’s none of your business, man.” Cue Riven who’s ready to provoke Sky. He’s been upset with him for a while and with the way Sky is acting right now, Riven can’t help himself. This is going to end in a fight if you don’t get it under control.
“I can’t sleep alone, okay? I haven’t been able to for a while. Riven calms me.” You thought you were defusing the situation but somehow your comment just makes everything much worse.
“He calms you? So I’m not good enough anymore?” His voice almost breaks and in turn something breaks inside of you. He doesn’t get to be the one with the broken heart. He let you go and forgot you even existed. He spent the last four weeks in Stella-land and now that they’ve had a fight, suddenly you’re good enough. You’re about to tell him off but Riven beats you to it.
“You haven’t been here! She’s been going through shit and you’ve been so caught up with yourself that you didn’t even notice that you guys haven’t talked for weeks. If anything you should be thankful, I’ve been here!” The situation is escalating much faster than you thought possible. They both radiate feelings overwhelming you. It’s difficult to keep track of which feelings belong to who.
“He’s right, Sky. Ever since you and Stella got back together, all you’ve seen is her. You cancelled all of our plans and completely cut me out.” You want to cry or hit Sky right in the face and you’re not sure which feeling is your own right now. Instead of doing either of those you get up and run away from the situation entirely. They both call after you but you just need to find a quiet place away from people’s feelings. You run outside and down the field. There’s a tree at the very back that you’ve crawled up more times than you remember. It’s always been your safe spot whenever you needed to get away. You’re hoping that Sky doesn’t remember it and after an hour alone you start to feel safe. But then you feel it - or more precisely him. There’s no doubt in your mind that he’s coming right at you.
“Y/N, I’m coming up.” You want to scream at him to go away but suddenly you’ve gone mute.
“I’m so sorry. I’ve been a dick.” You don’t argue with that statement. He really has been a dick.
“Riven really set me straight after you left. And when he started pointing it out, I realised that I haven’t been myself. I’ve been distant and cold, I’ve taken you for granted,” he says and you feel his regret just as much as you see it on his face.
“I never meant to do that. I got so caught up in Stella’s web and because of that I hurt the person who means the most to me.”
“You took away my calm,” you mumble blinded by tears. It sounds so childish saying out loud but he was the one person who could make you feel normal. His energy cancelled out everyone else’s. You look over at him blinking several times before being able to focus on his face.
“I’m really sorry.” He takes your hands in his and you let him. It’s that heart of yours that’s betraying you. It always beats a little faster when he looks at you.
“I can’t do this again. I can’t keep losing you over and over again,” you admit dangerously close to just owning up to your feelings. How he takes your breath away just walking towards you, how he makes you smile even at your worst moments, how he makes your palms sweat whenever he’s near. You want to admit it all because you’re so tired of having to hide your own feelings when everyone else can have their feelings heard.
“You won’t have to. I ended things with Stella before I came out here. When I saw you with Riven,” he pauses to take a deep breath, ”I felt my heart crack. I hated the idea of seeing you with anyone else.” You stop breathing. For once, you use your powers to reach out and feel his fully. You feel like screaming when you notice the very feeling you’ve been consumed by yourself.
“Did you just-”
“No!” You say it too quickly. He knows what you did but he doesn’t seem to mind it. He smiles as he takes your hand.
“I know this is really poor timing and I hate how much it took for me to realise that what I feel for you is way beyond how I should feel for a friend. But if there’s even a small part of you that cares for me like that, I’d really like a second chance.” You’re pretty sure you’re dreaming because there’s no way you went from being ignored by him to have him confess his feelings for you. It doesn’t change how fast your heart is beating in your chest or the blush creeping onto your cheeks.
“You just got out of a relationship, Sky.” Even though your heart is all for jumping into his arms and riding off into the sunset, the logical part of your brain can’t help but recall how he was in a relationship up until an hour ago.
“I’m too late, aren’t I?”
“I really like you, but I also feel like I don’t know you anymore. I look at you and see the face of my best friend, but I also see a stranger.” You don’t know how to explain it properly but somehow Sky gets it.
“How about we start out easy? Get to know each other again.” He cups your cheek as he looks into your eyes. He opens his mind to let you know that he truly means everything he’s said. You can feel his feelings yelling to be heard.
“I’d like that.”

kisses 21 jm!
For the prompt “we’ll face this together” kiss. TY SAHAR!!! OKAY I accidentally had one (1) jonbinary idea and then it ended up being SO FUCKING LONG (like 2.5k long) so uh. yeah. Warnings for descriptions of dysphoria, mentions of kidnapping and self loathing, and Jon getting pretty close to a panic attack. Also disclaimer, although I am nonbinary, I’m not transfem, so if there’s any critiques surrounding that, don’t hesitate to let me know. Stay safe y’all!
Jon’s face itches as he faces the mirror like an old foe. It’s long held an image that hurts him to see; aged by unfathomable horrors and dotted with marks like a canvas before a child’s paint tipped fingers, and these days he can’t even be sure that his reflection looks away from him when he turns his head. But, the devil it holds at the moment is the simple reflection of his short beard, and his face itches at the reminder of it.
It isn’t a physical itch. It lurks under the skin, poking and prodding at his senses, rubbing him the wrong way as he lays his cheek on his pillow, leaving a distracting echo when his chin brushes against Martin’s during a kiss, scraping at the inside of his skin as he stares at himself and takes in the sight of it covering his chin.
He scrubs his fingers over his eyelids. He isn’t ignorant, he realizes the discomfort he feels is most likely somewhat gender-related, but it’s… his relationship with his gender is complicated. In a lot of ways, it’s been such a mundane concern recently that he’s somewhat lost track of where he stands with it, but he remembers how it felt to first wear a skirt into the archives, all those long years ago. How gentle Sasha had been with him back then, even if the memory pinches the back of his head and grins with too many teeth and a short haircut that he knows now was wrong. But the Stranger cannot take that act of kindness away from her, even if it took away the face he remembers sharing it with.
He had felt like he was becoming something new, then, staring at a new path, freshly paved in his life, open to the possibilities of self discovery and certainty. Then his life had been riddled with worms and his friends had been carved out, one by screaming one, and he was on the run and set alight and kidnapped and disabled and nearly killed and kidnapped again and nearly killed and—
Jon remembers, vaguely, a flash of what had happened in the month he was… gone. He doesn’t remember most of what happened in that place. Probably for the better, he tells himself, but he does recall one thing. One very simple thing, really; that he hadn’t been able to shave, and he remembers the itch being all he could focus on for days at a time.
One of the first things he had done after stumbling through Michael-now-Helen’s door-not-deathtrap was drag himself to a sink and shave his face raw, burned hand be damned. His skin had suffered afterwards, nicked and irritated beneath its smoothness, and he had taken some strange, morbid comfort in the blemish he was able to inflict, after so many days of hearing hollow voices sing of its beauty.
This is a dangerous line of thought, he realizes, hands pressed against the bathroom sink, his heartbeat starting to pound in his ears. He desperately does not want to think about that, not here, and preferably not ever again, if he can help it.
He tries to bring himself back to the here and now, grounding himself in the feeling of porcelain under his palms, but the victory over his mind is a hollow one, unfortunately, as it brings him right back to the itching under his skin.
He’s not sure if this itch is exasperated by his own self consciousness, or by the lingering sting of the Lonely that threatened to separate him from himself, but it builds until its all he can feel in his skin, on his face, and he finds himself lunging across the counter, knocking things over in an attempt to hunt down Martin’s razor.
Jon had lost his own somewhere in the chaos of living in the archives, but he’s sure he saw Martin trim his own short beard when they first arrived at the safehouse, so it must be here, he thinks, ripping open drawers, it must— aha!
His fist closes around the razor, hidden under the sink next to a small bottle of shaving cream and Martin’s testosterone shots, and he barely gives a thought to what he’s doing before raising it to his dry cheek, just needing this thing off, and—
“Jon? You know that’s not how to do that, right?”
Jon whips around like lightning, his back to the sink and the razor clenched in his fist against his chest like a talisman, breathing heavily.
Martin had been smiling slightly as he entered the bathroom, but the expression quickly falls from his face as he takes in the panicked look on Jon’s face, and the erratic motion of his free hand, clenched into a fist at his side and twitching in an attempt to calm himself. Martin steps forward quickly, outstretching a hand.
“Jon, love? Are you alright?”
Jon fixes his eyes on Martin; kind, beautiful Martin who still goes a bit grey at the fingertips and the eyes when anxiety seizes him, Martin who has always been there, always been there, ever since the beginning. Jon anchors himself as he looks at that familiar, beloved face, and tries to take a breath.
“I-I don’t know,” He manages, because this all feels very silly now. He’s a grown person standing in the center of a bathroom, clutching his boyfriend’s shaving razor like it’s a weapon, for God’s sake, all because of what? Some facial hair? Good Lord, he’s being ridiculous. “Probably, I just… um.” He trails off, gut sinking as emotions spiral through him, too fast to pin down and name.
“Okay,” Martin says gently, shuffling a step closer. “Why do you have that?” He gestures to the razor in Jon’s hand, and Jon twitches, holding it closer.
“I need to borrow it,” He explains, stumbling. “I can’t- I need-“ He makes a frustrated noise and tries to get his thoughts to align. He inhales deeply and tries again. “I need to …shave. This-“ he gestures jerkily towards his face. “This is too much.”
Martin nods carefully, eyes glued to Jon’s face. “Too much?” His question is as gentle as his eyes, and Jon has to glance away for a moment, overwhelmed by being seen.
“It’s… complicated,” He begins, the fist pressed to his chest beginning to lighten up. “It… it just itches, all the time. Like- like a thousand ants under my skin, w-which is ridiculous because it doesn’t actually hurt or itch or- or anything, it just…” he glances back to Martin’s eyes, furtive and desperate for him to understand. “I need it to stop.”
“Oh,” Martin softens even more before Jon’s eyes, his face melting with understanding and sadness. “Oh, Jon. I didn’t realize you were having dysphoria.”
At the word dysphoria Jon glances sharply up, uncertainty fraught on his face, and Martin backtracks quickly.
“Or- s-sorry, I didn’t mean to assume. Is it-”
“N-no, Martin, it-it’s fine.” Jon waves Martin’s nerves aside and finds that he finally has a decent enough hold on his own to lower the hand that had been pressed against his chest. He turns around in the bathroom and sits down on the edge of the bathtub, sighing heavily. “It might be dysphoria, I don’t…” He hesitates, chuckling slightly. “I’m not quite sure I know it well enough to place it. Gender hasn’t exactly been… a priority these days.”
Martin nods and follows him deeper into the bathroom, setting down the lid of the toilet so he can sit on it and listen to Jon blunder through his feelings.
“It might be? I mean… I know I’m not a man, per say, but it… I mean, it could also be so many other things at this point. It’s just- I know it’s stupid to overthink, but—“
“Hey, hey,” Martin cuts him off, extending a hand to brush against the side of his knee. “It isn’t stupid, Jon. You don’t have to have a label or a reason in order to be uncomfortable. It’s- you’re allowed to call it just that; uncomfortable.”
Jon nods, looking down at the hands clasped in his lap.
“I know. It just hit me so suddenly, I-” He sighs, rubbing a hand over his forehead, careful to avoid brushing any of the hairs on his face. “I’m sorry.”
“You don’t need to apologize,” Martin murmurs, and his hand rests more solidly on Jon’s knee. “Is this alright?”
Jon nods mutely, and lets himself expel some more of the tension in his shoulders as he focuses on the motion of Martin’s thumb sweeping softly over his knee.
“It reminds me of the circus,” Jon breathes after a moment of silence, and Martin’s hand stills against him, attentive and horrified. “When- when they…” He inhales sharply, willing his voice not to break. “Well, I couldn’t very well shave it,” He clenches his hands into fists again, still holding the razor tightly in his right. “Got it off as quickly as possible once I could.”
Martin exhales. “I remember that. I thought you just… I dunno, just really nicked yourself. I didn’t think about… yeah.”
“Yes,” Jon agrees, keeping his gaze on the hand on his knee. “I-I mean, I definitely did, nick myself that is. I wasn’t really thinking about doing it properly, I suppose.”
“Like just now?” Martin asks, kindly, gently, not judging. Jon feels his chest pinch anyways.
“Yes.” He admits quietly. Martin leans down to press a careful kiss to Jon’s knee.
“Okay, well, this time we’ll do it properly,” Martin raises himself from the toilet seat, reaching down into the cupboards to pull forth the shaving cream and a towel, and holds them out towards Jon.
Jon blinks, looks at the objects and then up at Martin, unsure of what’s being offered. “Sorry?”
“You still want the beard off, right? Let’s just make sure you don’t upset your skin,” He cracks a humorous smile. “Then it’ll actually start itching.”
Jon takes the can from his hand, but still frowns. “Us?”
“I- yeah,” Martin shifts his weight, fidgeting with the towel. “I can help, if that’s alright with you. You don’t… always seem to handle mirrors the best? And I’ve helped shave another person before so… yeah. If you want.”
Jon’s world stutters to a blushing halt. Martin’s right, he doesn’t like to linger on his face in mirrors even on the best days (of which today is certainly not one) and as much as he’s accustomed to doing this himself, what Martin is promising is intimate; an extension of vulnerability and the promise of a care that he hardly takes with himself. The more he considers it, the more finds himself tentatively wanting it, and he nods carefully. He trusts Martin, he’s decided a thousand times by now.
“Alright,” He agrees, and smiles.
Martin smiles in response. “Alright. Do you want me to um-” He gestures with the towel in his hand, and Jon nods.
Martin makes quick work of running the towel under the tap until it’s warm, and then wringing it out so it’s ready to actually use. He takes his seat again and tips Jon’s head back with a hand to lay the towel gently overtop, letting the warmth seep into his skin. It’s more effort than Jon usually puts in, or used to, when he did this more regularly, but he finds it’s a nice feeling, and he almost misses it when Martin takes the towel away again.
“Right,” Martin continues, looks pointedly to the can of shaving cream in Jon’s hand and Jon hesitates.
“Ah. Maybe not that part? Th-the actual shaving is fine, but-”
“Oh! Yeah, of course,” Martin nods, not questioning, and reaches forward instead to gently take the razor itself from Jon’s fist so he can use both hands to get the shaving cream on his face. Jon surrenders the razor, forcing himself to trust it in Martin’s hands, to trust that Martin won’t just leave him hanging.
He tries not to think too hard about the feeling of the cream on his skin. It’s a far cry from lotion, so it doesn’t bring up any sense memories, thankfully, but it’s still an uncomfortable texture, and he focuses on the sound of Martin’s breathing to keep himself from slipping.
Fortunately it doesn’t take long; soon enough Jon’s finished, wiping his hands on his trousers, and then Martin’s shifting closer, taking Jon’s face in his hands like it’s something precious, something to be loved and cared for. He is very close, his dark brown eyes nearly black with focus as he gently reaffirms that Jon’s sure about this, and then the cool razor swipes across Jon’s cheek.
Jon’s heart lurches in his chest, a messy combination of nerves and gratefulness, but he doesn’t flinch, doesn’t move at all, and just watches Martin focus with gentle certaintly as the blade passes over his cheeks again and again in careful, confident strokes. His fingers whisper at Jon’s chin when he tilts up his head and swipes the blade carefully up the top of his throat, brow furrowed and tongue poking out of his lips in concentration.
Jon holds his breath, wills his heart to still, but it’s alright, with Martin it’s always alright. His hands are warm as they cup his cheeks, tilt him this way and that, thorough in their task, and his fingertips are gentle as they lift his chin and brush away foam and ghost over his throat. He never even comes close to nicking him, and Jon feels a great warmth unspooling in his chest, stinging his eyes.
“All done,” Martin finishes triumphantly, his face breaking into a grin as he hands Jon the towel again, lets him wipe off his own face.
There’s no coarse texture as the fabric touches his face, no itching or discomfort as it drags over his chin, and the steady drumbeat of wrongness that had pervaded him for weeks finally, finally dissipates, unblocking his lungs and releasing the tightness from his shoulders. He runs a hand over his chin, and finds a shy smile quickly taking over his face, affection and relief filling him up from the inside out and spilling onto his features.
“Thank you,” He breathes, and Martin matches his smile with one of his own, and nods, nothing but respect and affection in his eyes.
“Any time,” Martin says seriously, before reaching out to take Jon’s hand and slowly bringing it to his lips, giving Jon ample time to pull away. “You don’t have to struggle with this stuff alone,” He murmurs against Jon’s knuckles. “It’s easier together.”
“I suppose you’re right,” Jon’s response is quiet, and Martin kisses his hand then; gentle, and full of reverence. Jon finds that he could melt right into the floor and be happy for the rest of his life.
He reaches up to pull Martin down into a kiss, gentle and insistent and grateful, lacing his hands in his hair and sighing against his lips at the sensation, noting how nice it feels to kiss his boyfriend without his itching skin pressing at his thoughts.
The kiss stays chaste, and eventually Jon pulls back just enough to press their foreheads together, keeping his eyes closed, reveling in it. “Together, then.” He affirms, and Martin smiles.
“One way or another.”

Pairing: Bellamy Blake x reader, John Murphy x reader, Raven Reyes x sister!reader
Word Count: 2k words
Warning: swearing, mention of death and violence
✤  ·  ✤  ·  ✤  ·  ✤  ·  ✤
Couple of McCreary's criminals stayed behind with the guards, with a help of Indra watching over them. Meanwhile, I've decided to interrupt Russell with a surprise visit.
I insisted I'd go alone, the less people the better especially knowing that Russell wasn't quite the violent type; There was no way he’d lay his hands on me, I had no worries about him at all. He had killed Clarke because of his greed, I highly doubt that he'd kill more of us out of anger.
Some people disagreed with me, not surprised. Of course Bellamy, Josephine and Murphy wanted to come with me, Jordan wished to tag along too. Delilah being sacrificed for the prime hit him pretty hard, I didn't blame him for wanting to confront him.
As we barged into the lab, we were greeted with a startled look on all of their faces. Simone and Emori instantly looked upset, Abby looked like she was dying for her next fix.
'How in the hell did you guys escape?' Simone cursed, stepping up in front of me.
'It's not very hard, you know. Now would you guys be so kind and give us back the blood you made.' Murphy took out his hand, motioning them to hand it over.
Approaching fast, Emori reached for John's hand. 'John, what are you doing?'
'We can't let them continue to deceive and kill their innocent people, it's not right. Now they got us involved too.'
'Just hand us the damn blood.' I walked over to Simone that had it in her hands, 'Haven't you guys lived enough already?'
Simone chuckled, 'You don't get it do you?'
'What, killing people thinking their sacrificing themselves to false Gods? Of course I don't get it, I'm not a homicidal bitch like you.'
She reached her hand out, smacking my cheek while holding the blood in her other hand. I couldn't react and get her back as Bellamy was quicker than me, grabbing Simone's collar. 'Get your fucking hands off of her.'
'Let go of my wife!' Russell screamed at Bellamy, trying to reach over her but was suddenly distracted by Murphy.
He had snatched the blood off of Simone's hand, laughing as he hugged it in his arms. 'You guys are awfully slow.'
'Do you really think that's a smart move, Murphy?' Russell rolled his eyes. 'One word and the guards will storm in here and shoot you without a warning.'
'You shoot me, I drop this bad boy and the blood is destroyed. You really want to do this Russell?'
He huffed, turned to look at Emori and back to John. 'You fucked everything up, you know? I trusted Emori when she said you were with us.'
'That's your own fault for trusting her, I never agreed to this. I honestly just want you dead.'
'What do you guys want from this anyway? Why do you care what our community is doing? These people believe in us, believe that the Primes store peace and prosperity to Sanctum.'
How can that come out of Simone's mouth? Saying that their community chose to sacrifice their lives for a God that they've made up? 'They sacrifice themselves because they believe in the lies you told them. I care because you're killing your own people.'
'Can we just compromise? Agree to disagree and live on with our lives as we did these past few days?' Josephine tried to be the middle of man of this, siding with her family as well us siding with us.
'I thought I made a deal to compromise with Russell but he chose to betray me instead.' I looked at Josephine, understanding where she was coming from but hoping that she will finally realize that what her family has been doing is completely wrong. 'This outcome is all your father's fault. I didn't want any of this to happen.'
'Whatever happens to me and my people are none of your damn business! What we do does not concern you at all!' Simone raised her voice at me, veins tracing down her face as she seemed angry as ever.
'Now that you're getting us involved, it certainly is. We don't have to make these stupid blood for you, you know that right?'
Murphy's POV;
Y/N and Simone have been yelling at each other for quite sometime now, I'd want to help her but I wasn't in the position to defend her. Besides, she could handle herself well.
Simone's facial expression changed as she heard the words come out of Y/N's mouth, it was as if she had triggered her.
'I've had enough of your attitude already.' Simone screamed as she charged at Y/N, punching her in her stomach.
Before I was able to jump in to help, Y/N grabbed her arm, twisting it to the opposite direction that had Simone scream even louder. Turning her whole body around, she then kicked her back which had her falling next to Russell.
As Simone fell to the ground, she breathed. 'What happened to no violence?'
'You fucking punched me in the gut, I'm not just going to stand there.'
Just as I was about to make a snarky comment at Simone, Abby had snatched the blood from my hand. I quickly turned to her, 'What are you doing?'
Abby wasn't listening and instead ran out the lab. All of us trailed her from behind, ending up next to the airlock chamber. She had locked herself in the chamber, attempting to float herself and the nightblood with her.
Her hand was on the lever, her other arm tightly holding onto the nightblood. Y/N approached closer to her, trying convince her from the other side of the airlock. 'Abby, let's rethink this okay?'
'Don't fucking tell me what to do!' Abby yelled, tears running down her cheeks. 'Why do you care anyway, they lose the blood and you get to see me float myself. Win-win situation for you, I'd say.'
Y/N huffed, shaking her head. 'Don't be fucking stupid. I don't agree with you nor did I enjoy being threatened by you at the bunker but I don't want you dead, Abby.'
'I've lost everything, Y/N!' Abby started to sob, 'Russell killed my daughter, Marcus left me. I have nothing left, what do you know about loss?'
'We've all lost something, Abby.' I approached her also, standing next to Y/N. 'You guys sent us down to Earth when we were only kids, when we barely understood right from wrong. A lot of us lost parents, not that I really cared but some do. I understand that you're angry and frustrated but don't tell us we don't know how you're feeling.'
Y/N had never fully told me what happened down at the bunker, all I know is that Abby had done something to her, something that she will never forgive her for. She never told me the whole story, said that she wanted to forget everything because it was so awful what happened.
Even with all the altercation between her and Abby, Y/N was still trying to stop her from floating herself out of the airlock. I know how much the bunker had messed her up, I was honestly surprised that she was willing to help Abby.
‘Why are you trying so hard to help me? I’m the one that’s responsible for your misery right?’ Abby looked straight into Y/N’s eyes.
‘Like I said, I don't want you dead. I'll never forget what happened but we can always work our way to forgive. We’ve all worked our way through hell, we can get through this too.’
I admire Y/N’s strength, which are one of the reasons why I loved her so much. Watching her fight for Abby made me feel stupid about letting her go, being dumb enough to not say I love you back to her.
Abby nodded her head, ‘You’re right Y/N. You’re right. I’m sorry.’
She opened the airlock and slowly walking out as Y/N rubbed her hand on Abby’s back, trying to comfort her while she continued to sob.
'Maybe it's time to end all this, dad. We've done enough already.' Josephine said, surprisingly. Perhaps all of this have overwhelmed her, finally understanding that it wasn't worth the pain they were causing.
Russell inhaled dramatically, rolling his eyes as everyone had their eyes on Y/N and Abby. ‘Don't be a fool, Josie. It's never over.'
'If that's how you feel, so be it.’ Abby suddenly shoved Y/N to the side, pulling Simone from behind her and yanking her into the airlock chamber with her. Bellamy, having the faster instinct, caught Y/N before she fell to the ground.
‘Let me out, Russell! Help me, please!’ Simone banged on the glass from the other side as Abby locked the chamber again. ‘Anybody, help me out please!’
‘Simone!’ Russell looked at Bellamy, Jordan and then to me, panic all over his eyes as he tried to look for help. ‘Please get my wife out of there.’
Abby shook her head, ‘It’s too late now.’
Y/N pushed Bellamy’s arms out of her way, running towards the airlock as she screamed. ‘Abby, don-’
She was too late, Abby had pulled the lever as if she was committed to do so. Abby seemed as though she was ready to float herself, I doubt that Y/N would've convinced herself otherwise.
Bellamy pressed the button to close the airlock, comforting Y/N as she looked distraught. It was selfish of me to feel jealousy towards Bellamy, when Y/N needed someone to lean on when one of our people had died tragically. I couldn’t help it, I was mad at myself for fucking everything up.
Josephine and Russell on the other hand was emotionless, Simone was gone faster than the snap of a finger. They’ve probably haven’t gotten the grasp of any of this, since they were not familiar with the floating method.
‘What... did you guys do...’ Russell mumbled, staring into space as if he was staring at a ghost.
‘Seems like Abby took your wife for taking her own daughter away from her. Fair trade I should say.’ Jordan said angrily. I didn’t think he had it in him to say such harsh words, even though we all know we were all thinking the same thing.
Josephine shook her head. ‘We did a shitty thing, I know. But was that really fair? How dare you say that, she murdered my mother!’
‘Just how you murdered our friend! Just as how you murdered Delilah, she didn’t know the whole truth about what she was sacrificing herself for!’ Jordan took a step toward Josephine, screaming his lungs out. ‘Your family has been doing this for years, there’s no excuse for that!’
A sudden loud bang echoed, Jordan falling hard onto the floor without saying another word. Josephine screamed, looking at her father with a gun in his hand which was aimed towards Jordan.
Josephine froze into place as the rest of us ran towards Jordan to see if he was alright, but it was too late once again. He was already bleeding to death, bullet going straight through his chest.
'None of you guys move or I will shoot again.'
Everything had clicked; I really should've had killed Russell when I had the chance. I could've protected Jordan, I bet Monty was ashamed of me and all of us that it ended up being this way.
Or maybe Y/N was right, if we just accepted the trade, no one would end up getting hurt. Sure, Russell would still live but he wouldn't be an issue as long as he stayed in Sanctum.
None of this would've happened if I'd just stopped Emori from this, while we were marching back to the ship. I could've said something before we left Sanctum. There were so many chances where I could've stopped this and I did nothing.
And now Russell is unpredictable, all hell broke loose and he had gone insane. His lover was gone, forever and there was no going back. Abby and Jordan were gone and we might lose more of our people, even lose the love of my life because of my stupid choice.
