celebrating palestinian science
in the face of israels' targetting of scholars, scientists and intellectuals...
saw a tumblr post by @/anarchistfrogposting that got me heavythinking about the relevance of language and culture in chemistry and science, it's unfortunate english has been accepted as its' lingua franca and most other input is lost to the globalization of this change. formulae and structure are essential and in a subject so specific, the average chemist will need to memorize hundreds of chemistry-specific words, and it becomes a barrier past entry when direct translating gets murky. deconstructing the history of science will always lead to political waters as the politicization of science and populist anti-intellectualism ethos rooted itself since the beginning of the study and these implicit biases result in a lack of consensus amongst borders.
before wwi the geographical spread of language in science was much more diverse, a lot of french and german researchers were common in research publishing, but after the allies established new scientific institutions that excluded germans and the isolationist decades that followed suit, foreign-language education was reductionist and excised globally as a result of elitism, being a language considered spoken only 'by the educated'. english-language proficiency is undeniably a prerequisite when an inexaggerated count of 99% of natural science papers are published in english, starting since 2015. this is a /heavily/ debated and discoursed topic and is terribly intimidating to sink your teeth into because of globalization of english and the complexity of modern language but getting over this hurdle will blossom a culturally rich rabbit hole to go down and it is all super interesting. there is so much great palestinian scientific practices, not as in western scientists work imagined in palestinian hands, but palestinian-born theories and practices. i think it's really integral, to always, but especially during times like these to uplift the people of palestine and their beauty just as much as funnel hatred toward their oppressors and murderers.

this is a specific sort of glass called 'hebron glass' which is an extremely renowned palestinian practice and passed down traditionally through multiple families and businesses. dating back as far as the 100~s in BCE, their technique of glassblowing was far ahead of their time and not used commonly anywhere else until much further in BCE. the /exact/ practice of hebron glass is kept a family secret amongst palestinian businesses, but a metal tool called 'kammasha' is used to blow the glass. a palestinian artisan talks about the process in more length here, i would recommend doing extended reading directly from palestine:
the colors are so vibrant and beautiful, i am endlessly impressed by how elegant these pieces have been made since the middle ages. these pieces and techniques have inspired a lot of famous modern day forms of glassblowing and glass artistry, most notably the venetian glass of venice.
i include this under science as much as it is art because it often goes unseen how much temperature and calculation goes into this craft. its highly skilled and intense work to bend over the hot flames and handle the glass in such a vulnerable state that could easily shatter. the material is more than 1800F and the palestinian kammasha is very carefully timed.

what you're looking at right now is the SESAME initiative run by the international centre for theoretical physics. a famous alumnus of this school was sufyan tayeh, a palestinian scientist. he was a prominent researcher and mentor and advocate for international understanding through science, introducing: SESAME, an alternative vision for the future of peaceful coexistence and cooperation and offered a meeting point around the globe to speak the common language of science, making communication possible. sufyan tayeh was an inspiration and bridge builder for all of these young students and an entry point for future scientists. he was a winner of multiple awards for his contributions to science and was appointed chair man for UNESCO (united nations educational, scientific and cultural organization) and head of physical, astrophysical and space sciences in palestine. he was regarded as a leading researched in science and applied mathematics globally, and tragically was killed in the current genocide. this is one case of many, many palestinian researchers. the impact of their contributions are insurmountable and irreplaceable.

the fabric gauze was also invented in palestine. if you've ever stepped foot in a labratory, you will know what this is lol. used in surgery and in chemical labs for multiple functions: separating liquids and gases, strain acids from bases, filter substances at extreme temperatures, prevent contamination, and to treat water. it is also used to diffuse heat and help protect glassware, seriously, these guys influence in glassware was HUGE. i think glass would still be sand without palestinian input.
i've set this post just up as a basis summary of the sciences, i would love to give an add-on going more indepth into the scientific process of some examples i gave and also in the history of palestinian scholars listed above.. when i get the time! but i hope this was an apt introduction! may good things come in 2024. feel free to recommend things i should check out or correct. OH OH also there is a lot of palestinian sci-fi.. 'divine intervention' and 'the second war of the dog' are both good, iirc they won the international prize for arabic fiction. just random things i found while looking up things for this post haha but they're good

little things they do for you
word count: 900+
content warning: mentions of body image (if I am missing anything please let me know and I will add it!)
Lucifer
invites you into his study whenever he gets a new record. he prefers listening to it with you in his arms. also, he'll play the piano for you if you ask him.
will praise you for minor or major accomplishments. even if you don't think something deserves praise he gives it to you anyways. he's so proud of his human.
wakes you up gently by rubbing your back or your shoulder. sometimes if you've stayed up late studying or working he peppers your face with gentle kisses (he will drag you out of bed lovingly if he needs to)
Mammon
will hype you up and be your partner in crime. will indulge in creating chaos or doing something stupid with you. you have his full support and he'd do anything for you, even if it results in him getting strung up by Lucifer. he'll happily take the blame and punishments for you.
will let you have control over the radio and heat/ac settings in his car. will let you put your feet up on the dashboard too. he bought a car charger for you in case you forget to bring yours and he'll order for you in the drive-thru (has what you want memorized, but still asks if you want something else)
helps you with chores. does laundry with you and carries your laundry basket (cleans out the lint trap for you too) does the dishes with you, he washes while you dry or vice versa. moves furniture for you while you vacuum (let him woo you by showing off his strength) want to rearrange your room at 3 am? he'll help you.
Levi
if you're into cosplay he'll make outfits for you. he'll make sure it fits perfectly and has some wiggle room for comfort.
will let you sit on his lap and help you get through hard levels or help you find new areas and items. will guide your hand with his while doing so and praise you.
if you're anxious about something he'll try anything to ease some of your anxiety. he'll give your hand reassuring squeezes or talk you through a breathing exercise or simply listen to you talk about what's making you anxious. he'll look up more ways to deal with anxiety and practice them with you.
Satan
texts you quotes from books or poems that remind him of you or when he wants to be romantic. he sometimes takes inspiration from romance novels when planning a date. also surprises you with flowers for no reason.
will help you study or write an essay. teaches you how to color code, organize, find proper resources, and reassures you that you're doing a good job. he'll be patient and adapt his techniques to any learning style you prefer.
will spend hours with you in a bookstore, and carry any books you want to buy. if you like to spend a decent amount of time in certain genre aisles, he'll grab books you can't reach or just be content standing near you while you look through the books.
Asmo
want an outfit that didn't come in your size or was sold out? he'll somehow get it for you or make one for you. need some alterations done? say less. see something you like but you're low on funds? say less.
have any pain, discomfort, or trouble relaxing? he's got heating pads, pain relievers, an aroma diffuser, bath salts, anything you can think of for pain relief or relaxation. he also gives really good massages.
will help you with any insecurities you may have. reassuring words, compliments, and sticky notes on any mirrors to remind you that you're beautiful and are worthy of so much more than you think you deserve. will buy you products that help enhance your natural beauty. he'll also help you take care of yourself with little reminders or help you establish and keep up with a daily routine.
Beel
lets you wear his clothes if you're having one of those days where you just want to hide your body or just want to feel super comfy and smell like him.
he reminds you to eat every day. he understands if it's hard sometimes for you to eat at least 3 meals a day or eat when you're not feeling well. will ask if you'd like some of his food or if he can make you anything. will also let you steal food off his plate.
will support you and keep you motivated if you want to work out. he'll get on the treadmill next to you or go for a walk with you. anything you want to do he'll do it with you. shares his water bottle with you if yours is empty. will make smoothies, protein shakes, or trail mix with you. he'll encourage body positivity, but won't cross any boundaries or make you uncomfortable.
Belphie
gives you space and understands if you don't want to take a nap with him or cuddle. will offer to let you borrow one of his blankets or pillows to sleep with instead.
will comfort you if you have nightmares or trouble sleeping. don't feel secure after a nightmare? he'll hold you close or act like a weighted blanket for you.
lets you kick him in your sleep and he'll adapt to any of your sleeping positions. want to sleep like a starfish with one leg up on the wall? that's fine, he'll make room for you and find a different way to cuddle.

So I saw a video on a technique for patching sweater holes, and I really wanted to try it.
Fortunately (unfortunately?) I had an old sweater that got chewed up when it accidentally took an unprotected ride through the laundry. It had PLENTY of holes to practice on, of various sizes.
I decided to start on some of the smaller holes:
Tumblr media
It went......okay? I guess? It's a new technique. You can probably see which hole I tried first and what progress I made doing it a second time....
Tumblr media
I ended up getting myself a new toy to continue (a latch hook, because my crochet hook was doing well-enough-I-guess but I figured I could neaten it up a little if I was less likely to drop loops). So I decided to go after one of the bigger, more irregular holes:
Tumblr media
(this picture actually has the most accurate portrayal of the real-life color of the repair yarn. I don't know why it's so grass-green in the other pictures. It's even a little darker than it looks in this picture, and blends in better with the rest of the sweater colors.)
Which also went....okay........I'm new-technique satisfied......and there are a lot fewer holes in the sweater now, anyway. (I did a weave-darning on the spot on the very right, but that was only to try it out to see how it looked.)
Tumblr media
So it got me brave enough to try some of the really big holes:
Tumblr media
The first of which went okay:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
but I'm still clearly struggling with how much working slack to leave on the loops, which you can see with the increasing tension as I worked from right to left.
But you know what?
This monster is next. We'll see how it goes! Regardless, I'm enjoying the technique and learning a LOT. Plus....I'll be able to wear this sweater again!

Makeup Artists
Gojo x reader, Nanami x reader and Toji x reader (individual) Genre: fluff, comedy idk Words: 1.1k Synopsis: The trio attempt to do your makeup Masterlist
Tumblr media
Life with the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer was always an adventure. Today, however, was a different kind of adventure – Gojo had insisted on doing your makeup.
"You know, babe, I'm not sure about this," you chuckled nervously as you sat in front of the vanity mirror, Gojo rummaging through your makeup bag like a kid in a candy store.
"Don't worry, it's just a little fun. I'm practically a pro at everything, including makeup," he grinned confidently, while examining a tube of lipstick.
"You're a pro at everything, huh?" you teased, raising an eyebrow.
"Of course! Now close your eyes and trust me," Gojo said with a wink, and you complied, suppressing a laugh.
He started with foundation, and surprisingly, he wasn't doing a bad job. His fingers moved with surprising precision, blending the makeup perfectly into your skin. You couldn't help but admit that his touch was gentle, even though his usual antics were far from it.
"See, I told you I'm great at this," he gloated, admiring his handiwork.
"Yeah, yeah. But the real challenge is the eyeshadow," you challenged, handing him a palette.
Gojo eyed the colors, looking as if he was about to perform a complex Jujutsu technique. After a moment of contemplation, he dipped the brush into a shimmery gold shade and carefully applied it to your eyelids.
"Looking good so far," you encouraged him, trying not to laugh.
As he continued, Gojo became more engrossed in the process. He even attempted to recreate the infamous blindfold pattern that adorned his eyes on your lids. It was obviously a bold move, but surprisingly, it didn't look half bad.
"Voila! The Gojo touch," he proudly declared, leaning back to admire his masterpiece.
You opened your eyes, examining the finished look in the mirror. Surprisingly, you were impressed. Satoru had managed to create a unique, bold makeup look that somehow suited you.
"You know what? I think I like it," you admitted, giving him a playful smile.
"Of course, you do. I'm Gojo Satoru, after all," he replied, smirking.
Tumblr media
It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, and you found yourself at home with Kento Nanami, your boyfriend. As you lounged on the couch, an idea popped into your head.
"Kento, do you want to try something fun?" you asked, a playful glint in your eyes.
He looked at you, raising an eyebrow. "Define 'fun.'"
"I was thinking you could do my makeup," you suggested with a teasing smile.
Nanami's stoic expression remained unchanged, but a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes. "Makeup?"
"Yeah! Just for fun. I think it'll be interesting," you said, getting up to get your makeup bag.
Nanami sighed, but there was a hint of amusement in his gaze. "Fine. But don't blame me if it turns out poorly."
You handed him the makeup bag, and he examined its contents with a mix of curiosity and skepticism. As you sat in front of him, Nanami took a deep breath, preparing himself for this unexpected challenge.
He had battled curses, dealt with demanding people at work but doing someone's makeup? That was a new task.
"Let's start with foundation," you instructed, handing him the bottle.
Nanami carefully applied the foundation, his movements unsurprisingly careful. Despite his initial reluctance, he seemed to be getting into the task. As he continued, you couldn't help but appreciate the focused expression on his face.
"Okay, now for eyeshadow," you said, presenting the palette.
Nanami inspected the colors, selecting a neutral shade. With a gentle touch, he applied it to your eyelids, blending it expertly. You were impressed by his skill and concentration.
"See? I told you I could do it," he smiled, a faint hint of pride in his voice.
As he moved on to the eyeliner and mascara, you couldn't contain your laughter at the sight of Nanami, the serious salaryman, fully engrossed in the art of makeup application. Despite his initial hesitation, he seemed to be enjoying the unexpected bonding experience.
Finally, he finished the look with a subtle lip color. Nanami stepped back to admire his handiwork, and you turned to the mirror, genuinely surprised at the results. The makeup was tasteful, well-blended, and highlighted your features without being overly dramatic.
"You know, Nanami, you might have missed your calling as a makeup artist," you teased, giving him a playful wink.
He rolled his eyes but couldn't hide the small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Let's not get carried away."
Tumblr media
One random day, you found yourself in the company of Toji Fushiguro. As you sat at your vanity, surrounded by an array of makeup products, a thought crossed your mind. One that you probably should have ignored.
"Toji, do you mind doing my makeup for me?" you asked with a playful grin.
Toji glanced at you, a mix of surprise and skepticism on his face. "Makeup? Really?"
"Yeah, just for fun! It'll be interesting to see what you come up with," you replied, handing him a makeup brush.
Toji sighed, but there was a small smirk playing on his lips. "Fine. But if it looks terrible, I'm not to blame."
As Toji dipped the brush into the foundation, you couldn't help but suppress a giggle at the serious expression on his face. He applied the foundation with a level of intensity that was comically out of place for a makeup session.
"Easy, Toji, easy. You're not exorcising a curse," you teased, trying not to burst into laughter.
He shot you a deadpan look before moving on to the eyeshadow. Toji examined the palette, selecting bold and contrasting colors that made you raise an eyebrow. As he applied the vibrant shades to your eyelids, you couldn't help but wonder if he was aiming for a cursed technique-inspired look.
"Uh, Toji, maybe a bit less on the eyeshadow?" you suggested, trying to salvage the situation.
Ignoring your advice, Toji continued with determination, creating a look that could only be described as avant-garde – a unique blend of vibrant hues that clashed in the most spectacular way.
"Now, the eyeliner," he mumbled, holding up the pencil like a seasoned warrior ready for battle.
You winced as Toji attempted to draw precise lines, resulting in a series of squiggles and zigzags that resembled a cursed seal more than a makeup technique.
"Okay, I think that's enough," you said, struggling to contain your laughter.
Toji stepped back, admiring his masterpiece with a proud grin. The mirror reflected a chaotic blend of colors and lines that left you in stitches.
"Toji, I appreciate the effort, but I might need a little touch-up here," you chuckled, reaching for a makeup wipe.
He shrugged, an amused glint in his eyes. "I tried my best."
He really did attempt to navigate the world of makeup with all the finesse of a bull in a china shop.

I got so freaking excited seeing the trailer for "The Wild Robot", so naturally some fanart was in order! I didn't expect the painting to look so oily and have so many softer edges, but I still think it came out really nice and was good practice! Colored pencil really has helped me figure out a personal painting process, as here I actually used a similar layering technique as when I work in colored pencil.
Aside from that though, I haven't read the books yet (though I plan to after I see the film) but this movie looks like it's gonna hit so many of my favorite tropes and features when it comes to fiction and animated stories, including: non-human protagonists (and both of my favorite kinds, animals and robots!), stylized visuals, robot learning to be more than just their programming yet still maintaining their original robot skills and behavior to a degree, robot with emotions and unique ways of showing it, character in the wilds adapting by studying the animals, post-industrial-level technology existing in harmony with nature and the wilds rather than being portrayed as inherently harmful to nature and therefore inherently wrong to make (this is a big one for me), the odd duo, the gentle giant, a character finding belonging in an unexpected environment, just general wonder for the beauty of the wilds, and probably other things that'll come to me as I understand this story more.
But even beyond that, I just had to draw Roz because she's so freaking cute! Like, even excluding the adorable way she mimics the animals or glows when happy or how her "eyelids" give her more facial variation, in design alone she's so round and sweet looking! And somehow her being big and bulky to juxtapose her kindness with an strong and imposing stature just makes it even better! I love characters who are large and intimidating at first glance but total softies on the inside. Brightbill's definitely in good hands!
If the film holds up and Roz also has a clear and entertaining personality beyond just being curious and caring, there's a 60% chance that come September she'll become my new robot blorbo (roblorbo?), up there with C-3PO, Wall-E, and Five Pebbles!
Also, another version of the sketches from when they were just the lines for comparison!

Promotion - A Gojo x Reader Fanfic
You’ll do anything to get Gojo to recommend you for a promotion to grade one!
Written for @kuroov in exchange for making the lovely graphics for my welcome post. I hope you like it!
Smut. 18+. Fem Reader. (Professional) Power Imbalance. Spit kink. Oral sex. Slight size kink. Divider by @benkeibear!
Tumblr media
The cursed spirit in front of you writhes on the ground as it dies, remnants of your technique still glowing from its body. You whirl around to look at the man who accompanied you on today’s mission.
“See? I did good, right?”
Gojo Satoru smiles and nods, his eyes hidden behind his blindfold. “Yeah, you did good. I didn’t have to lift a finger.”
You walk over to stand closer to him, tilting your head up to see his face. With your eyes shining, you ask, “Don’t you think I’m ready to be grade one?”
You’ve been gunning for this promotion for months now, and so far Gojo is still holding out on you. He can easily nominate you anytime he wants, and with a recommendation from someone as influential as him, that promotion would be in the bag.
“Hmmm, I’m not so sure,” he says, his tone somewhat playful. “I need to see you in action a few more times, I think.”
You want to shout that he’s seen you “in action” plenty of times already, but you hold your tongue. You certainly don’t want to offend him at this point. “Okay. Will you come with me tomorrow then?”
“Sure, anything for my cute little kouhai,” he says, patting your head.
You blush and look away. You’ve been trying hard to keep your relationship with Gojo purely professional, but he makes it difficult. He’s incredibly good looking, and he knows it. And he’s so flirty with practically everyone, it’s easy to see why so many of your fellow sorcerers are nursing crushes on him.
In all honesty, you’ve got a bit of a crush yourself.
“Let’s grab something to eat before we head back,” he suggests, casually wrapping an arm around your shoulders. You don’t think anything of it. You’ve seen him do this to plenty of other people and it seems to mean nothing to him. He’s just being friendly.
“Okay,” you say, eager to keep his favor. You’re actually pretty tired and would like to go straight home to your apartment and go to sleep. But you desperately want this promotion, and that involves keeping Gojo happy with you.
The two of you stop at a crepe shop on the way home and he buys treats for both of you, but has them wrapped and boxed. “We’ll eat them at my place,” he says, and you blink up at him in surprise.
“Your place?”
He grins. “You’ve been there before. My little side apartment near the school. It’s close by so we’ll stop there to eat.”
“Oh… okay.”
You have been there before, three months ago. But you went with a few other sorcerers. Gojo was hosting a small welcome party for a new co-worker who transferred in from the Hokkaido branch. You’ve never been there alone with him, and you’re not sure how you feel about doing it now. You feel nervous, uneasy, but you also feel excited and flattered.
Above all, you want to keep him happy.
When you reach his apartment, he unlocks the door and stands back, gesturing for you  to go inside first. You step into the darkened room, and he steps in after you, flipping on the light switch and then closing the door behind you. The sound of it nearly makes you jump. You get the strange feeling that you’re caged in here with a predator, but it’s just Gojo, standing there slipping his blindfold off. You don’t think you’d mind being his prey.
Instead of going to the small kitchen table to eat the crepes, he walks over to his sofa in the living room and sits down, then pats the cushion beside him. “Have a seat,” he says, opening the box in his lap and pulling out the two crepes wrapped in colorful paper.
You do as he says, sitting down on the sofa to his left and maintaining what you feel is an appropriate distance from him. But you can’t help being extremely aware of how close the two of you actually are, how alone the two of you are in his apartment.
He reaches you one of the crepes and opens his own. You carefully peel back the paper, not wanting to make a mess in his surprisingly neat living room. You’ve heard this is just a secondary residence he uses to be close to the school, but it appears to be well maintained.
You glance over at Gojo as he takes a bite of his crepe. There’s something oddly sensual about the way his mouth opens, the way his lips encase the sweet treat. Is he doing it on purpose? After that first bite, he notices some cream filling on his fingers, and proceeds to lick them clean as you watch, transfixed. His eyes shift to your face and he asks, “Aren’t you going to eat yours?”
“Oh, uh, sure,” you say, feeling flustered as you take your first bite of your own crepe. You barely taste the thing, your mind so preoccupied with the positively lurid show Gojo is currently putting on beside you. He licks the crepe as if he’s making out with it, and his tongue flicks at the soft crust.
He catches you watching him and smiles at you. “Wanna try mine?”
“Huh?”
He holds his out toward your mouth. “Go ahead.”
You stare at the offered crepe, at the mound of cream filling where Gojo’s tongue has just been buried. Would he be offended if you refused? Do you even want to refuse?
“Okay, thanks,” you say, leaning forward and taking a small bite. You chew it slowly, savoring the taste. Is this what Gojo’s mouth tastes like?
“Like it?”
You nod. “Y-yeah, it’s delicious.”
He grins at you, like he’s amused by something you’re not aware of. You go back to eating your crepe as he finishes his own, at one point getting the cream all over his fingers again. He’s such a messy eater. He puts the two cream covered fingers in his mouth, licking them as he stares at you. He coats them thoroughly in his saliva, then slowly pulls them out. They’re glistening, practically dripping.
And then, he reaches his hand toward you, looking at you expectantly. Your heart races as you realize what he wants you to do. This is highly inappropriate, but you want to make him like you. You want to please him. So you open your mouth obediently, and his wet fingers slide in.
He plays with your tongue as your lips reflexively close around the digits. You can taste him so clearly, you feel a fluttering in your stomach.
“Good girl,” he says as you begin sucking his fingers, the sweet taste of the crepe lingering on his skin. He gently moves them in and out, seemingly enjoying the way your head moves forward to follow them when he pulls them back.
“Such a cute mouth. I bet you’d like to suck something else too, wouldn’t you?” he asks, those gorgeous blue eyes watching you.
This is wrong. You shouldn’t be doing this with your superior. This is not the way you wanted to get that promotion to grade one. But how can you refuse him? He could make or break your career. And besides… you’ve always wondered what his cock tastes like. You’ve thought about sucking him off too many times to count.
You’re tired. You’re horny. And the hottest guy you’ve ever seen in your life is spreading his thighs apart on the couch beside you, unbuckling his belt. So you let him gently tug you off the couch and to your knees in front of him. When you look up, his cock is already out, inches from your face. It’s fucking huge, though you can’t say you’re surprised by that. Sitting here so low before him, his tall frame towers over you even though he’s sitting.
With one hand, you reach up and lightly grip his shaft, then you lean forward and wrap your lips around the tip, your tongue flicking over it. You press your face forward, taking more of him into your mouth, quickly coating it in your spit before it hits the back of your throat. Then your head is bobbing back and forth, your lips and tongue gliding over him as his cock is effectively shoved into your throat and then almost back out, over and over. You gag slightly, but try to suppress it.
Glancing up at his face, you find him staring at you, wearing a pleased expression. His skin is slightly flushed, but otherwise he seems surprisingly calm for a guy getting deep throated. But his cock doesn’t lie, and it’s twitching in your mouth as you continue taking him as deep as you can without choking.
At some point one of his hands moves to rest on your head, fingers softly curling into your hair. His breathing gets a little faster, and you know he’s close. You pull back, letting him pop out of your mouth, then your eyes meet his. “You can cum in my mouth,” you offer, opening your lips and extending your tongue like a good girl.
His grip on your hair tightens just a little, holding your head still, and then his hot cum is shooting directly into your mouth, covering your tongue. You keep your lips parted for a few seconds, letting him watch his cum sliding around before you swallow it all.
He rubs your head, like you’re a puppy, and grins down at you. “I knew you’d be good at this.”
You’re just catching your breath when you gaze up at him and say, “Thank you.”
He looks at you like he doesn’t know what you’re thanking him for. Honestly, you don’t really know either. Your mind has been a little fuzzy since this all started. But he laughs as if he’s amused before he pulls you up by your arms and starts pulling your clothes off. You let him, having no desire to stop this now. You’ve already sucked his dick, why not go further?
Soon, he has you face down on the couch, his strong hands holding your hips in the air as he fucks into you from behind. His body is heavy as it leans against yours, making you feel totally powerless and trapped, but it’s a feeling that thrills you more than scares you.
Your face is pressed into the cushions, your hands gripping the plush fabric. You can hear his breaths, fast and heavy, and you can feel a satisfying stretch as his cock shoves all the way in with each thrust.
A few minutes in, he slows his pace and bends down until his face is close to your ear. “Hey, you okay?”
You turn your head to the side to look at him. “Yeah…”
“You’re so quiet. Tell me if you want me to stop.”
“I don’t… want you to stop,” you breathe out, your voice nearly a whisper. Whatever this is between the two of you, it’s way too late to back out now. So you might as well enjoy it.
He must notice your flushed face, your glazed eyes, because he goes back to fucking you as hard as before, one hand sliding around in front of you to find your clit. You jerk from the sudden pleasure, clamping your mouth shut to keep from moaning. You hear Gojo laugh. “There we go,” he says, his finger stroking you in a rhythm that matches his thrusts.
You bury your face in the cushion to muffle any embarrassing sounds you might make as you climax, shuddering beneath him. Minutes later, he suddenly pulls out, and you feel something warm and wet hit your bare back.
Later, you end up falling asleep on Gojo’s couch. You wake up the next morning with a blanket draped over you. Gojo steps out of the small kitchen and hands you a cup of coffee before sitting down on the other end of the couch.
“Good morning,” he says cheerily. You don’t know where he gets the energy.
You sip the coffee and look at the nearby end table. Your clothes are neatly folded in a stack.
“Do you need to go home and change before the job today?” he asks casually.
“Yeah, I guess,” you say, still trying to get yourself completely woken up.
“I’ll take you home,” he says. “Then we’ll meet up later.”
You look over at him. “You’re coming with me again?”
“Didn’t I say that yesterday? I still have to decide if you’re ready to be promoted.”
You’re wide awake now. “You’re still not sure? But… I thought…”
He looks surprised. “What? You thought I would recommend you for grade one if you slept with me?”
You feel your face burning.  “I don’t know what I thought.”
He laughs and sits his cup on a table. “Look, if I was ranking your cock sucking skills, you’d be a special grade! But that has nothing to do with this. Grade ones get sent out alone, on very dangerous missions. I don’t want you to get ripped to shreds because I recommended you without being absolutely sure you’re ready.”
You sigh and stand up to retrieve your clothes. “I understand.”
He had a point. You didn’t want to end up dead either because you were prematurely promoted. But you were surprised he cared so much. Maybe he wasn’t the egotistical asshole everyone said he was.
Maybe you’ll let him treat you to crepes again soon.

Last month, Sixth & Spring publishing reached out to me to review the new Short-row Colorwork Knitting book by Woolly Wormhead. Woolly  is best known for designing clever hat patterns that employ the use of short-rows to create dynamic shapes in colorwork. I've never made one of her patterns, but have long appreciated them as a sort of brain teaser. Each one seems to fit together like a puzzle of yarn. I've now spent a month with this book, reading through it and using it as a textbook to learn Woolly's signature short row technique.
Tumblr media
The cover of the book has a frosted glass feel, which I think is nicer than a glossy cover. Three of the brightly colored stitch patterns are displayed along with the title. The book contains 50 stitch patterns and 10 projects. The yarn for the publication was provided by malabrigo so every stitch pattern is shown in beautiful tonal yarn. I also noticed a stitch key on the inside of the flap of the cover that folds out so you can look at it when you're working on a pattern. I love the consideration for the reader and the functionality.
Tumblr media
This book is written like a workbook, it starts by giving you all the tools that you need to use to knit the stitch patterns then use them in your own projects. The first few chapters explain the short-row colorwork fabric, the chart system, ways of altering the motifs in the book and color theory. I was not left with any questions about the instructions. The next section of the book contains tutorials teaching the basics of short row knitting, the skills that are needed to complete the patterns are shown with photos. There's even a photo tutorial on knitting backwards - a huge time saver. It seems like Woolly and I have the same party trick.
Tumblr media
Next, I tried making a few of the stitch patterns with my new skills. The chart system was intuitive. The first swatch is the Sine Stripes pattern. The swatch in the book showed a selvedge, which I added on my swatch as well. Next, I tried making the Anemones motif. I did not add a selvedge this time, but felt confident using the lessons to shift the placement of the short rows. None of the short rows were changed,I just cast on extra stitches and practiced moving the motifs. I did not have a chance to try any of the "repeatable" stitch patterns yet which can be used in the round as well as flat. The majority of the book is spent on these adaptable stitches.
Tumblr media
I didn't have time to try any of the projects, but noticed a good mix of different accessories. I appreciate the inclusion of multiple designers showing different perspectives and approaches to the Short-row Colorwork technique. The final chapter of the book explains different design considerations, inviting the reader to actually use the stitch dictionary portion of the text for their own applications. The properties of some of these stitches are unique and the lessons are helpful and explaining all different scenarios that may come up.
Tumblr media
I always intended to get this book, and it definitely lived up to my expectations. It's incredibly thorough without becoming overwhelming. If you enjoy learning new things, this is a great purchase. It's currently available for  pre-order and will be available in the US on April 16th and in the UK on May 14th. More info is available on Woolly's website. And you can preorder a copy of the book on Amazon.

# nishinoya yuu - nail polish
Tumblr media
a/n = not exactly happy with this one, but i feel like it suits noya a lot ^^ also i just installed the my little pony mobile game if u know which one i'm talking abt and it brought sm happiness to me istg T-T
summary = nishinoya is eager for you to paint his nails.
warnings = noya being overly clingy as per usual, also nishinoya being an ipad kid
Tumblr media
you could see nishinoya's bright smile the moment you opened the door to your house, his short figure standing on your doorstep with sheer excitement beaming from him.
it was pretty understandable. after all, you were his first girlfriend. he was excited every single time the two of you hung out. and you loved it about him. he was like the sun; bringing the positive energy into your life, the smile on his face brightening up your day every single time.
the boy trapped you in a tight hug, his hands wrapped around your waist as he squeezed you tightly, your hands over his arms. as he loosened the hug, his eyes caught a glimpse of something.
he looked down, focused on your hands, more precisely, your nails.
"ohhh, new nails?" his eyes sparkled, gently grabbing your hands to take a closer look. they weren't anything too special; you decided to try out the new technique you saw on the internet a few days ago, and even though they didn't come out perfectly, you were still satisfied with the results. and nishinoya seemed to be thrilled as well.
"i painted them yesterday." you smiled, taking in nishinoya's enthusiasm. "what do you think?"
he looked up at you, grinning from ear to ear, looking as if he was going to combust from happiness at any given second.
"they're so cool! i can't believe you did that yourself." his words echoed through the hallway, the boy jumping around. as his frame appeared in front of you again, he gently grabbed your face, peppering it with kisses as he spoke. "my girlfriend is so talented."
"you know, i could do your nails if you want to." you giggled at the boy, your cheeks turned a bright shade of pink.
even though you thought one could not be more excited than nishinoya was just a second before, he had managed to prove you wrong.
his eyes widened at your words, the almost exaggerated look of shock on his face making you laugh yet again.
"of course i want to!" his voice was suddenly an octave higher than before, sprinting towards your room as if he was speeding to the barbecue after a tiring volleyball practice.
you followed shortly after him, seeing his body already sat in front of your desk, waiting impatiently. you didn't bother cleaning after doing your nails the day before, so everything was already set up for you. only this time you weren't doing your own nails, you were doing nails of the boy who couldn't sit still for five minutes even if his life depended on it.
this is going to be tough.
"noya, you are aware that there is no chance you're going to sit through all of this." his head turned to you, curiosity painted on his face. "doing all of your nails would probably take over an hour."
"oh." his smile dropped, his eyes locked with yours, mind trying to find a solution for it. an idea quickly popped into his mind, his face lighting up yet again. "you can do only one on each hand, then. ooh, and can you do them in karasuno's official colors?!"
you agreed to his solution, seeing it as the best one in this situation. to your surprise, nishinoya wasn't even moving that much while you painted his nails. he was a little impatient with the uv lamp, of course, but that was inevitable. to calm him down a bit more, you got your ipad out, putting on a tv show so he can focus on something else. it was a bit funny; you had to act like somewhat of a nanny of his. but you secretly enjoyed how much you had to baby him sometimes.
as you turned off the uv lamp, after applying the top coat on nishinoya's nails, you looked at your work with a bright smile, brushing the hair falling on your face behind your ear.
"it's done." your words catch his attention immediately, his head turning from the ipad and towards his hands. you laughed at his reaction, his eyes sparkly and wide as he stared at the nails with his mouth agape. "noya, it's just nail polish.."
"AHHH I LOVE YOU!" the confession sounded more like a scream, his figure throwing himself onto you, almost pushing you off of the chair. "i love you, i love you, i love you. it's amazing."
the familiar feeling of butterflies in your stomach appeared at the sound of his words, a smile on your face as the boy hugged you tightly.
"you're overreacting a bit." you mumbled, trying to get out of noya's grip. he shook his head immediately, moving so that he could look at you now. he had the brightest grin painted on his face, the one you were so familiar with and loved so much.
"nuh uh. i just love you a lot."

ive seen a lot of posts out there encouraging people to make art even if it seems crappy, or not to your standards, and that it's ok to lose motivation or move onto different things. those posts are great. however, if you're like me and despite those posts you still find yourself getting frustrated with yourself for not being able to stick to something despite having passion for it, this post is for you
what tends to help for me when making (visual, digital) art is trying to achieve a new technique with each small project, for example "this is a piece for lineart practice" or "this is the piece where i try to mimic a certain style"; i also like to start drawings on different settings of my art program that i've never used before, you don't know how many OH SHIT THIS THING HAS OTHER COLORS FUNCTIONS moments i've had with this. that way even if something doesn't turn out ""good"" you've at least practiced a skill and got something out of it. you can adapt this to writing or sculpting or sewing etc
i leave you with a spell of Keep Motivation so you can end up with a finished project you like, or are at least proud of finishing, and also just a general "hey i see you" because making art is not easy but it really do be jiggling the brain receptors good over the process

Hello! Can I rq a hc with Malleus, Jade and Leona with a s/o who has a small dragon/eel/lion plushie in their colors the s/o made themselves?
𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲'𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭
| Notes: Hi, anon!
First of all, I might have interpreted it as some kind of hobbie for the reader (so the hcs could have something going on) just because they made themselves the plushies. If that wasn’t the case, I’m sorry!
But overall, it got pretty cute~~ There is a small reference to the Kelkkalot of Harveston event in Jade’s part because it kinda related to the request. Hope you like it!
Thanks for the request <3 |
Malleus Draconia, Jade Leech, Leona Kingscholar x gender neutral reader / plushies for the boys / headcanons / fluff… I guess literally? / established relationship / use of “you” pronouns
Cherry’s Harvesting event 🍒 Masterlist
Little Plushie
Tumblr media
Malleus was aware that you knew a little about sewing — at least, enough to tailoring on old socks and your own clothes. He even taught you a few more tricks and from then on, sewing no longer seemed like such an impossible challenge. But you were surprised that a prince like Malleus knew how to sew;
Apparently, it was his grandmother who taught him the basics in her spare time, and during the last few hundred years, Malleus did so much embroidery to distract himself from the fact that he couldn't leave the castle that he became a master at it. You were so grateful for your boyfriend’s help that you decided to make him a gift with your own hands;
Then — without Malleus realizing your main goal — you began to practice making stuffed animals. Malleus usually helped you buy fabrics, buttons and whatever else you needed, in addition to giving you some ideas of animals to make. Your first plushie was a gray gargoyle which he made the mascot and guardian of his club room;
Your subsequent attempts got better and better. You filled Ramshackle with so many plushies that Grim was starting to get jealous. And when you told this to Malleus, he laughed heartily. Just because in that second you could see his sharp teeth, you had an idea;
Well, you wanted to give him a gift but you didn't know what — and that gargoyle turned out too ugly for you to have given Malleus as a present, though I suspect he would have liked it just the same. According to him, it reminded him of some handmade gifts from Lilia... you couldn’t tell if this was a compliment or a “you need to improve your techniques”;
One day, Malleus saw you on the main street arranging some fabrics you had just bought. You quickly disappeared from there, not realizing that he was watching you. This filled Malleus with curiosity, especially since you didn’t tell him anything about your new plush. So on certain nights, Malleus peered into your room and saw you working on a relatively complicated stuffed animal;
You had a whole map to guide yourself, but it was turned upside down from where Malleus was, so he didn't know how to identify what difficult animal you were building with black and green fabrics. Between your desk and your bed, you hummed a rhythm without lyrics, dancing around the room. Malleus smiled as he realized that despite the hardships, you were having fun;
His wait was finally over when one day, you called him up to the Ramshackle to deliver something. Malleus was actually surprised to find that the end result — which he ended up not seeing because he left you to work alone — was a dragon plushie. It was almost a miniature, simplified version of his own dragon form, including the horns;
“All that work... was it made for me?,” Malleus asked, hugging that precious plush. He was feeling so many emotions that he didn't quite understand how to react. As a prince, it was normal to receive gifts of all kinds at diplomatic celebrations among the fairies, but this was no ordinary gift. It was something made by you and that was already more than special;
As it turned out, it was you who approached and gave him a tight hug. Malleus realized that you were a little exhausted from all that work. You were a human, after all. Even though you were working with your heart, the tiredness came in the same way. Malleus kissed you on the forehead and smiled, thanking you for your affection and consideration;
The stuffed gargoyle may have been the guardian of the Gargoyle Study Club, but the dragon plushie was safe in Malleus’ room — as you ended up checking days later. It was next to his pillow, but you didn't dare ask Malleus if he slept cuddled up to the plush. Anyway, it was like having a little bit of you in his room.
Tumblr media
For a long time, Jade knew about your skills and taste for handicrafts, especially making stuffed animals. Your dedication and work on each piece was simply admirable. You have filled an entire shelf of your room with plushies, several different animals of different sizes and colors;
It almost made Jade remember the time he was invited by Epel to visit his hometown and they took part in the sled race with stuffed animals — which he told you in great excitement and detail, especially about the foods. He even asked you to make a reindeer plush for him, just like the one that piloted his sleigh. It is a very precious gift, no doubt;
Even though it was a long and laborious process, you didn't mind sewing the plushies with a company on your side. Jade didn't always have time to be by your side while you worked — even more so because he was ultra-meticulous about details too — but sometimes, when he wanted to relax a bit, he would stop by to see how things were going;
Recently, Jade had seen you return from the Mystery Shop with a large amount of cotton, ribbons and a turquoise fabric. He found it curious, very curious. But you didn't reveal anything, which wasn't much of your nature. Usually you would comment on the stuffed animals you were making, after all it was a beloved hobby;
Not only that, when classes were over, you would rush back to Ramshackle and if Jade was lucky, he would at least be able to greet you on the way. You were very involved with your mysterious project. But for how long?;
One day, Jade made sure his schedule was clear so he could spend the day with you and finally find out what you were doing, practically hidden from him. When he knocked on the door, you greeted him with a rather exhausted but happy expression. Subtle as only he is, Jade allowed himself to be led into your bedroom normally — but mindful of what you might be hiding;
Then, when he walked in, he was surprised by a turquoise eel plush stretched out on your bed. It was of a medium size, but clearly an eel. A long black ribbon stretched across its back and a smaller one near its head on the right side. You picked up the plush to show your boyfriend up close;
Jade took your work and carefully analyzed it, noticing its tailpieces in the seam and the cute detail that the eel's eyes were two buttons of different colors, one dark brown and the other yellow. He gave a small smile, understanding everything perfectly without having to interrogate you;
“For me?,” Jade inquired and you nodded. “Such a lovely job and I didn't even think of anything to give you in return.” You ended up chuckling a little. It wasn't as if you needed a gift either — not immediately, at least. But just seeing Jade happy with your gift made you feel satisfied. It was a good feeling;
Obviously, as it was a Jade’s plush to the merman himself, he took it to Octavinelle and made sure to show Azul and Floyd one more work of his talented beloved one. Jade swore he wasn't bragging about having you give him gifts — but that's exactly what he was doing, his friends knew;
Tumblr media
Some time later, when you went to Jade’s room to study there, you saw the plush around the lampshade near his bed. It was well taken care of and Floyd let slip that his brother always greeted that “damn plushie” when he woke up and before going to sleep, as if he were their little brother. Really, your boyfriend was cute in a unique way, just like his plushie.
Once, Leona found you leafing through a step-by-step sewing magazine while you were waiting for him in the schoolyard. You then told him about learning to sew, hoping that one day you would be able to make even a stuffed animal. Leona shrugged normally but was impressed by your determined look at your new hobby;
Since then, you have begun to practice needlework. Sometimes in the break between classes, at the Ramshackle or when you were around Leona — he would relax by your side. You thought it was funny how sometimes his eyes followed the movement of the wool, just like a cat. But you could never comment on something like that;
A while later, you went on to try to make the plushies that you wanted so much. The first attempts were amateur and weird, as you might expect. Leona had to hold back his laughter as he faced a stuffed animal that he thought it was a malnourished hyena but you insisted it was a meerkat;
But your first cute teddy bear was well celebrated. Leona joked about confirming the plushie’s exact taxonomy and you threw the teddy bear at him, laughing afterwards. In the end, the teddy bear was displayed on a shelf in your bedroom, acquiring your successful work. Jokes aside, Leona congratulated you on your achievement and you, again determined, swore that you could do much more;
And you did. Every few days, you would show Leona your final results and sometimes, the process you went through. Leona wasn’t the most interested person in anything related to sewing — see his uniform’s vest dearly missing a button — but he admitted that you were getting better and better;
But there was one plush in particular that you didn't show him. And Leona ended up discovering this unintentionally when he saw you hide a bunch of orange-brown fabric in your bag the moment you bumped into each other around campus. You seemed a little anxious and left in a hurry, suggesting that you two talked again later;
Leona wondered if it was a plushie you were working harder than usual to get perfect — and was starting to have those perfectionist’s anxieties — or if it was a gift you wanted to make for him. Maybe not him, but some friend and you were afraid to arouse his jealousy. Leona didn’t care much about this question, in part;
If it was a gift for Jack, for example, he didn't have to worry. It would even be funny watching you playing with the sensitive nerves of that poor wolf who liked to seem tough. But you seemed so concerned about this particular project — and didn't want to let him know at all. Leona didn't know what to do. A few days passed and he went straight to Ramshackle to see what you were up to;
And you let him in. Leona saw your fingers full of bandages and was a little worried, even if silently. You asked him to stay in the room and minutes later, you brought him a lion plushie made especially for him. “Is it... me?,” Leona asked, holding the dark-skinned, brown-maned lion plush that had a grumpy expression. “Even my scar, huh?”;
You didn’t know what to interpret Leona's expression, you have never seen someone so confused staring at a stuffed animal. But that's because that little lion transported Leona to a time in childhood where he was carefree and could consider himself relatively happy. Leona hugged you without saying or explaining anything, but you understood that he had liked it;
One day, going into Leona's room to wake him up, you found the lion plushie on his bookshelf along with the chessboard. The lion was practically protecting the pieces — or that was the conclusion you came to. You smiled, staring at Leona sleeping peacefully. You were glad he kept the gift in a safe and proud place.

I kinda want to get into digital painting, how do you make your paintings look so good? Do you have any tips?
its really all about practice id say, and understanding shadows and light sources.
my mom has studied art for years, she no longer does it, but she told one of the most important advices when it comes to shading. draw a small ball on where you want the light source to come from, and draw from there. imagine how it will effect every small thing in the drawing, how little or lots of light it will have.
Tumblr media
this is something i made while explaining this to someone a few months ago, this is what my mom told me what to do, and i learned a lot about shading from this. studying from real life is also very important, seeing how light interacts with objects, how light is reflected off to other objects, how blurry or sharp the shadow can be. its endless amounts of knowledge when looking at real life subjects.
when rendering, light sources are one of the most important things, learning the fundamentals can help you in the long run. thinking of what you want your shadows to look like too, do you want them soft or sharp, or even a mix of both? finding something right for you is important, and that's why experimentation is key for finding what you're happy with. trying so many different techniques is possible when going into digital art, take things from artists you like, redraw your favorite piece to see how they've made it, try new brushes or programs, its all up to you!
color is important when it comes to rendering, that could be said for any piece. color dictates the feeling of the piece, using many different colors in your shading can make it pop out. going back to experimenting, trying new different colors and palettes is very helpful too! play with saturations, values, try using only one hue. i stick to warms usually, but seeing what else you could be using can be fun too! color is limitless, try all that you can :D
in art, i believe experimentation is one of the most important things, it leads to your growth as an artist. i would be nowhere without it, and i very much encourage anyone to try all they can. digital art is one of the most expansive artforms, you can get almost any look with it, you can do so much with it that makes creativity limitless.

Last Twilight Ep 6 Stray Thoughts
Last week Day met August again for the first time, and it was clear that the attraction between them is mutual. Mhok encouraged the two to hang out, and had a practice date with Day to get him ready. However, August let all of us down. Day waited an hour before Mhok came back in to take Day around. Still, they waited until late for August to arrive as Day recounts that he did like August. August then bailed again, telling Mhok not to let Day know he was there. I’m also worried about how much Day compromises himself for August’s benefit.
I like the way Mhok gave the glass of water to hungover Day.
Does Day not remember much of the night? Either way, I’m glad Mhok avoided fibbing.
Okay. I liked Mhok’s glare here. August needs to know that Mhok is not going to be passive about Day.
I will accept August’s excuse for now, but he’s on very thin ice.
I’m invested in Aon’s new relationship with his girlfriend way more than I expected. He looks so happy about it.
Yes, Porjai! Ask after Night! Take your shot!
I like fixing the shoes, but no socks? Runners, please check in with me here.
I feel like there’s a lot double meaning in the dialogue this episode.
One of my favorite framing techniques in BL is when two people are facing each other and a third person is framed between them. They keep doing that with Mhok between Day and August.
I like the reminder that Mhok is maybe a little bit older than these college kids. Also glad Porjai is calling him out on his obvious crush on Day.
Oh, he used his eye drops to look at August.
They’re holding hands while they run now? Well, well, well.
There’s a race next month? How will August let us down, and will Mhok rise to the occasion and be his racing partner?
Okay, I really like the mom celebrating Day’s birthday a little bit early because she’ll be busy, and Day appreciating that she still prioritized him.
Will someone tell Mhok (and us) what this drama between the brothers is about??
Sea is very attractive.
“How do I look?” – “You look ready.”
They are definitely flirting!
Be careful touching that earring, Day! I watched the BTS and it is barely holding on with magnet, glue, and prayers!
He gave Mhok his favorite perfume? THIS IS GAY AS HELL.
I like the surprise party for Day. This is excellent drama. We thought August forgot, but instead it’s Mhok having to back down.
Does August know he’s competing with Mhok?
No, Mhok! Don’t regress! Don’t start smoking again!
Oh, whew, he took a walk.
This is way too many people touching and fussing over Day at once. He’s going to freak out.
Okay, Aof, having Mhok show up just in time to see August kiss Day, and have him appear between them? Mean.
WAIT? DID AUGUST JUST WALK AWAY??
A GOOD MEMORY??? WHERE IS THE GIF OF BRIGHT SAYING, “KILL HIM”? I don’t like the pity coloring all of his choices here. I get that he doesn’t have control of how he feels, but initiating this kiss was a bad call.
Oh good. We’re on a rooftop. Let me calm down.
Mhmm, and this is why I’m mad at August. He ruined what should have been a kind gesture. Day feels like people only showed up to celebrate him because they pitied him.
Timing this kiss with the sun like this? Now that’s cinema, baby!!
I love Aof. Next week promises to sort out the feelings stirred and revealed by this kiss.
I’m so disappointed in August. I was already down on him last week because of the way Day feels like he has to accommodate him, and then he lets us down like this? I’m over this boy! I don’t want to see his ass again in this show! Baby Ohm, I love you and we will see you in Kidnap with Big Ohm later! Goodbye!

Art Tutorial (aliased brush, oil painting look)
I've been using Pikmin Echo as a springboard for myself to practice new art techniques!
I had a few people ask me how I draw backgrounds in paint dot net, so I quickly drew this image you see below!
Tumblr media
Now, there isn't one process I use, I mostly freehand it straight from the noggin to the paper. I barely use references, and I really should use them more often!!
But this should show an outline of generally what's going on in my mind when I'm doodling a doodle :)
Step 1: Choose sky color
I personally like to use either a light blue or a light orange!
This reference uses a light orange so I'll steal it.
Tumblr media
Step 2: block the main contrast out with a big brush
There is a foreground and a background to this scene, a clear light and dark.
It's much easier to work with a blocked out pattern! It's like the sketching equivalent in this technique.
Tumblr media
By the way, I'm using an aliased brush because I'm a pixelart nerd (so retro 🤓☝️) and also because it makes selecting blocks of color much less messy! But trust me, it will look soft in the end :)
Step 3: Look for blocks of common color
I see big patches of blue and orange when I squint my eyes, so I plot those in!
Look at how the light comes from the top right, it illuminates the trees on one side!
Tumblr media
Step 4: Look for hue variations in the lights
Natural colors are never going to be flat or homogeneous--theres variations everywhere!
Add in greenish, reddish, bluish and yellowish patches, and even if at first it's a little scary to stray from such bold colors, I promise, gray is essential to making a truly vivid image!
Tumblr media
Step 5: move on to the darks
The tree trunks in the left shade looked blue to me! So I toss in some blue splotches.
Don't worry if it looks messy. You can always clean up your messes later <3
Tumblr media
Step 6: Fine detail in the very back
Going just like a traditional painter, painting the back first is perfect because you will later paint over the back layers with the front ones, creating realistic layers of texture!
It is much easier to go back to front than the reverse.
Think about the shape design and the flow of all of the elements.
The mountains curl up and down in very specific ways, and the trees look like circles from very far away, with leafless outliers few and far between.
Tumblr media
Step 7: let's take a break from the canvas and do homework
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
learning how to simplify incredibly complicated shapes is crucial!
Trees, grass, rocks, everything in nature has very complicated structure, but you can simplify them very much!
With newfound respect for the complexity of nature, start noting down the elements of your scene in more detail.
You can move your reference around and crop it so that it's easier to perfectly replicate what you wish to draw....but....
Tumblr media
personally, I like to use the reference more for vibes and just ad lib the rest!
Tumblr media
Study the general shapes of your reference, and apply them in new, unique ways!
I hope this tutorial was helpful for you!
Please feel free to rb this post with any art you make with this! I'll be excited to see what you create :)
Thanks for reading!

WIP: EP11 Kitbash Series
My game is in need of a funkier, more futuristic skyline. I’ll be releasing a series of items designed for recreating neighborhood deco from Sims 3: Into the Future (EA/Maxis, 2013) (and other EPs) as functional lots. This is a really fun project I came to realize was possible after seeing @somedaythesun’s awesome 3t2 building sets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kitbashing is combining items from multiple sources to create something “new,” and usually involves using objects in ways they weren’t originally intended.
Tumblr media
The practice is similar to remixing images into a mosaic. Buggybooz's famous Nooks & Niches sets (2012) may fall in this category, especially when looking at the creative ways @riekus13 uses them here. Objects from the “Midnight At…” series at Blue Heaven Sims could be used this way too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Among other things, my set(s) will mainly include lot shells – big, single-tile “pillars” you’ll be able to plop on lots. Then, build above, below, in, and around them to create useable structures. Shell challenge anyone?
Tumblr media
Shell objects are ideal for builders for several reasons: less reliance on cheats to achieve the look you want, minimizes the risk of hitting wall/object limits, more options re: uniquely shaped buildings, cuts down on the in-game price of lots, etc.
Tumblr media
I'm hoping this will make building a bit easier and more straight forward for those who typically don't enjoy it, and for others who want fuller modern/sci-fi hood maps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Playing with texture/color options…a lot of the items are ideal for 3x3 (30x30 tiles) or bigger.
Tumblr media
They’re biiiiiiig and hood visible…but still, only 1-tile for easier placement when building and better routing during gameplay.
Tumblr media
I need to make some more adjustments so the objects align with walls and reposit items to my Repository Pack – to maximize color/texture/glass options - but these are almost ready to publish!
CREDITS Thanks: Repository Technique Tutorial (@hugelunatic), Risa Garden Dome (@blueheavensims, 2008), Sim Crafters, Sim Shenanigans, @lordcrumps for nudging me to learn how to create the CC I wanna see. Sources: Any Color You Like (@curiousb, 2010),The Sims 3: Into The Future (EA/Maxis, 2013).
