You know who I think about in far too much depth sometimes?

That little clock guy from Beauty and the Beast. Cogsworth.

This scene specifically. He is so proud of himself when he tells this joke. And he's so proud of the castle.

We see pretty explicitly in the film that the castle servants are lonely, and desperate for something new, after 10 years of the curse. But think about what the curse means for someone like Cogsworth, and what this little joke he tells implies.

He's so damn proud of the castle. He's so eager to take Belle on a tour, and tell her all about the castle's history, and not just its history, but its art history. And he's probably not the first of his family to serve in this castle; his family has probably lived and worked in this castle for generations. The heritage of the castle is as much his own family legacy as it is the Prince's.

He was so ready with that joke; it was a polished and rehearsed line. You get the sense this is a practiced tour; he gave it to dignitaries and guests frequently before the curse. And he hadn't had a chance to use it on anyone for ten years.

I dunno, I'm just struck by what it must have felt like for this man, for the curse to not only mean his physical transformation and confinement, and isolation from the outside world, but also to lose the ability to tell the story of his family home to guests from near and far. So much of his purpose was wrapped up in telling the castle's story, and for ten years he couldn't really do that—when all the other guests were transformed into representations of their purpose (brightening a room through entertainment, cleaning up, cooking, etc), all he can do is mark time, unable to tell his defining story.

And then Belle walks in, and he cannot resist but tell the stupidest fucking joke that he's been holding in for 10 years.

Not to be another of those guys complaining about that modern gurlz video but basically yeah that’s what this post is. While I hate that people were complaining about Asha’s personality before the movie even came out, now that I’ve seen it I’m like... yeah there’s not much there. But I DON’T agree that Rapunzel, Anna, and Mirabel are like the same character just because they share similar quirkiness.

Rapunzel was quirky because she spent her entire eighteen year old life in one tiny isolated house with no social interaction aside from her seemingly loving but manipulative and demanding mother. She’s also curious, artistic, and friendly to everyone even if they’re scary. She wants freedom first and foremost, but ends up finding love along the way.

Anna was quirky because she spent most of her childhood alone, without ever seeing her sister or anyone aside from castle staff. She’s also naive, romantic, and snarky. What gets her in trouble is being too trusting of a man she barely knows. The same could maybe be said about Rapunzel, but Eugene is pretty upfront about being a wanted thief, and Rapunzel keeps a good friendly distance with him at first. It’s obviously still a Disney movie but there are no wedding proposals on the first date. Anna on the other hand is straight up, as Hans says, desperate for love.

Mirabel was quirky when she was trying to hide things (the fact that she doesn’t have a gift, the vision from the rest of the family), clumsy because she was trying to keep up with her magical family (lifting heavy things in the kitchen, running after luisa while luisa walks effortlessly, getting thrown around by isabela’s plants after her breakthrough), awkward when other people are awkward (bruno) She’s also pushy, determined, and ambitious. Her flaw is that she’s too self sacrificial. She almost fell off a cliff trying to find information and ran into a collapsing building to save the magic.

They are not the same!!

Mal D3 motor bike redesign number...5? damn ive redesigned her main look alot

canon

stuff i kept-the color pallet but i heavily symplified it and took away alot of the stuff that made the design so busy, while also adding just enough to make the design intersting becuase while Mal's canon gear is super busy and has so much going on, its also suuuper bland, like stupid bland, thats one of the problems with the canon designs because while theres SO MUCH going on, the motorcross gear is also SUPER bland, like theres alot of...nothing with shapes and colors and thats it. i also let mal keep her lil flame boots but made them less heel and more of a basic platform boot that isnt so stupid high. i also kept her canon shirt she wears under the vest cuz thats not something that i ever had complaints with, its just a shirt.

my big thing for this design was-tight t-shirt and big ol pants with bit belt. im really happy with the silouette alone and really like the scales/flames/embers on mal's pants :3 i also wanted to make her a PROPER ass motorbike jacket instead of a vest and sleeves, motor bike jackets are meant to freaking protect the rider, her arms being visible defeats the fucking purpose of the damned jacket!

but-yeah, i wanted this mal to be fucking READY, no big clunky shoes/heels, no tight pants with a stupid zipper on the buttm and proper gloves, i had the idea of Mal having a braid-which i still really like so just imagine Mal wearing her hair in a braid for the d3 adventure. but yeah, Mal's worn dresses her last two big battles and whenever i redesign any of hte outfits-i have a possible rewrite in mind where Maleficent is the big bad whose mind controlling Audrey and Mal knows this so she wants to be READY and wants comfy pants instead of a skirt or super tight pants that squeak when she walks.

yeah but i was at work and just thought 'D3 MOTORBIKE MAL-TIGHT SHIRT BIG PANTS' and decided i had to draw it out, ur welcome.

It's one thing adding Classic Who (!!!) and the other spin-offs given all of New Who is already on iPlayer, but adding audio descriptions and sign language to apparently everything is wild!

I assume this implies the same things are going to be on Disney+ internationally too? Would make sense to apply the same work on both platforms.

(Although assuming they brought all the features on there too, I assume they'd do sign language again, for both BSL and ASL? I've never used Disney+ so no idea what accessibility options look like on there.)
