its really bizarre how after a couple decades of mostly uncensored internet access and raunchy premium cable made it so nobody gives a shit about swearing, we're now re-entering an era of quaint self-censorship in the name of platform marketability rather than politeness. im sure nobody actually cares. im sure none of the advertising dicks, or boardmembers, or anybody really cares that much personally. they just think it will scare people off somehow. so now grown adults are saying "h-e-double-hockey-sticks" ass bullshit on the same social media websites where they try to get their meat slonked and find a dealer.

all media that causes the audience to feel something is manipulative and problematic. to avoid this, i exclusively engage with horror media while also playing so called "cozy games" like stardew valley. the horror and the cozy cancel each other out and I feel absolutely nothing and remain unmolested by the whims of big feelings

Alongside the interview, Alex Hirsch also sent me and Hana each a personalized Gravity Falls drawing made and signed by him. This was mine.
I can now say that Dipper and Mabel have visited Canada and specifically, my home town of Toronto.

I'll probably never own Journal 3 Special Edition. But this imo is even better. There's a pretty funny story that happened regarding this drawing that I'll be sharing in the behind the scenes video I got coming on the channel next month on just how we got this interview to happen.

When I was a kid my family pretended to get raptured so I would think I was left behind on earth while they all went to heaven.
I was like 8 years old and my sister and mom had gotten really into the Left Behind novels (bible fan fic about the rapture). In the books when the rapture happened the clothes that people were wearing when they got raptured were left behind in neatly folded piles.
One day when I was getting home from school my family decided that they would leave piles of neatly folded clothes around the house, and then hide in the basement.
The intended effect was that I would get home and see the clothes then, think that my family had been raptured and that I wasn’t good enough to get into heaven… or something?
The problem was that I had never read these books, and didn’t really think about the rapture very often. There was no reason that I would see some laundry on the floor and think “The rapture happened and I’ve been abandoned by God! I’ll never see my family again!! Oh nooo!!!!”
I just sat down and watched cartoons and eventually my family got bored and revealed that they were all hiding in the basement.
It’s a good thing I didn’t understand the joke, otherwise that shit would have been traumatic.

We know what it’s like to be begging for someone to listen. Because we know what the pain of loss, of starvation, of losing your home, of being mocked and dehumanised and othered feels like. Because we know that no life is above anothers.
