“wow, this is all your fault. i can’t believe you, y/n.”
dick grayson mumbled under his breath playfully, enjoying the disgruntled expression on your face.
“babe, i said i’m sorry!” you whined, pouting as you grabbed your boyfriend’s arm. “honest mistake, my bad.”
the two of you were invited to a charity ball, and you hadn’t realized you left the invitation back home until you were at the venue.
fortunately, you were a couple of blocks away from your apartment, which was why you two were walking back, with dick grumbling the whole way.
“we should’ve taken the car. i told you we should, but no!” dick stifled his smile, looking away so you couldn’t see his façade. “you insisted we walk. who even walks to a charity event?!”
you frowned, disheartened. “i’m sorry, babe. i didn’t think taking the car was necessary,” you confessed sincerely.
dick smiled, unable to keep up with his charade any longer. “i was just joking, love. gosh, you are so fun to play around with,” he stated, chuckling at your look of betrayal.
“you are such an idiot. i hate you!”
“now, you better take that back because we both know that’s a lie.”
you fastened your pace, walking away from the brunet. "nope, i'm being very honest." you laughed, amused by his reaction.
"y/n, come here!" dick called, chuckling as he followed you. "babe!"
the traffic lights turned red, causing the cars to come to a stop. you continued teasing your boyfriend as you crossed the road, sticking your tongue out in a mocking manner.
dick laughed as you did a little dance in the middle of the road, amused at the extent you went to make him laugh.
a loud zoom made the brunet freeze in his place, watching as an oncoming bike increased its speed despite the red light.
just as he opened his mouth to warn you, his gaze was filled with the slow motion image of the bike hitting you, your body being thrown a few feet away at the impact.
fuck, fuck, fuck. no, please, no. fuck, no.
"y/n!" dick yelled, his heart beating harshly against his chest as he ran towards you.
his breath quickened as he saw the blood, shakily taking out his phone as he kneeled next to your half-conscious body.
"i called for help. they said they'll be here in ten minutes."
the phone fell out of his hands, immediately reaching out to hold you in his arms as tears filled his vision.
"oh, baby." he touched your face gently, hot tears falling from his face to yours. "no, please."
you blinked softly, in a dazed state. "dick?" you called out, causing the brunet to nod in reply, more tears falling down his face.
"you have t-to talk to m-me, babe. how e-else am i g-going to stay a-awake?"
"i c-can't." dick cried harder, feeling your hands on his face. "i'm so sorry."
"richard, t-take … take a deep breath, p-please. calm down, o-okay?"
"how can i stay calm? y-you are … you—"
you felt lightheaded. "i'm sorry," you apologized, wiping away his tears. "i got blood all over you," you added.
"is that what you are worried about?!"
"i know this is your favorite suit."
despite your attempt at a joke, dick cried harder, feeling worse as he was supposed to be the one to console you.
yet here you were, lying in a pool of your own blood, still having time to make lighthearted jokes about the situation.
dick grayson ignored your words as you assured him you were fine, rambling away about anything and everything under the sun.
he didn't even know what language he was speaking in, let alone what he spoke about. he just rambled, hoping you'd stay awake until the ambulance came.
"i l-like this view." you interrupted his chattering, smiling through the pain. "r-really good an-angle of y-you."
"not the time, y/n."
you heaved a breath as you reached out to hold your boyfriend's hands, groaning quietly as the pain became unbearable.
"does it hurt bad?" dick asked softly. "is there anything i can do for you?"
you took a deep breath, wincing. "i-if i don't m-make it, i h-hope you know how much … m-much i love you. and if p-possible, look out for jay b-because—"
"no! don't give me this 'last word' talk." dick shook his head. "you'll be fine, and you will be the one to look out for jay because he'll listen to no one except you, and only you can handle him."
"babe, please—"
"no, just no. i will not let you leave me. if you even think about dying, i'm going to kill you."
"i love you, richard grayson. so fucking much, i do."

You have the pinned post explaining the batfamily so I thought you'd be a good person to ask this: who is RJ in regards to Dick Grayson? I've seen the tag "Dick Grayson Is RJ" on ao3 but I haven't found anything anywhere else so I'm pretty confused. I know it's something to do with him being a former talon, but I really don't know beyond that.

A few years back there were rumors circulating about editorial rebranding Dick's name and I think RJ was proposed as a nickname his friends would call him (as in Richard John). There are similar ones where he's R*c 🤢 or Richie Grayson (the equivalent of Brucie Wayne). Dick Grayson Is A Menace is the best tag though, and anyone who disagrees is free to meet me in the Denny's parking lot.

CATS, BATS AND EVERYTHING THAT'S UNSEEN
"Hey Grayson!" You yelled, waving over the black-haired boy.
"Hey [Reader]!" He yelled back, jogging over to the porch you were sitting on.
"How are you today, my good sir?" You said, fake curtseying. You let out a little giggle as you stood up straight again.
"Absolutely Wonderful, My lady!" He said in a horrible british accent. "And how are you?"
"Why, I am just so peachy." You stated in an equally horrible accent.
"Peachy?"
"Yes, peachy."
"Speaking of peaches, a new cafe opened up, and they supposedly have the best peach pie in town..." he said, dangling his car keys infront of your face.
"Well then. i guess we have to do our duty and report on it to your family. make sure its safe and all that jiz," you replied, packing up your school work and throwing it in the dorm.
"That we must, m'lady, that we must."
"Hey Dick?"
"Yeah [Reader]?"
"RACE YA!" You yelled, snatching the keys and sprinting down the road to the car.
"NO FAIR YOU DID TRACK!" He screamed, chasing after you.
------------------------Time Jump To The Cafe---------------------------
"Mhm, Thith ith the betht pie eveh" Dick said, mouth full.
You nodded in agreement, swallowing the last chunk of pie on your plate. "Best Pie Place ever."
As Dick started to stand up from the chair, he winced in pain and sat back down.
"You Good?" You questioned, noticing the small, yet noticable hesitation to get up.
"Yea, I just- nevermind." He muttered, almost spilling his secret identity.
"No, what is it. What has hurt the invincible Richard Grayson?" You mocked.
"I believe it's called 'The Imbecilic Damian Wayne." He stated, putting his hands up and moving them away from each other, imitating a marquee.
"You lost again?" Raising your eyebrows is shock.
"Yes, Again." He rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Sh-HE is a tough opponent."
"Hah, i can tell you all about tough opponents." You said, mildly annoyed and not noticing Dick's slip-up. Your mind temporarily wandering to Nightwing, the masked self-proclaimed vigilante. AKA, Your mortal enemy.
"Glad to know im not the only one."
"Yeah..." You trailed off.
Dick's phone pinged, and he looked up with a devilish grin.
"There's a gala tonight?" You guessed, giving your own impish smile back.
"Yup! Do you care to join me, m'lady?" He asked, standing up and offering his hand.
"why yes i do, ... m'man...?" You said, wondering if that was even a word.
"M'man. Adding that to the dictionary." He laughed, helping you up off your chair.
"Oh please, like you've never said anything that wasn't a word before. Also, i call driver." you stated, knowing he wanted to drive.

"Y/N!"
That's all that rang throughout their head. The yell from their masked partner, Nightwing. The former Robin of the all-time famous Batman, the first Robin out of them all. Former leader of the Titans, and now working as this new hero in Blüdhaven.
Of course the masked male wasn't expecting a mission to go wrong.
This couldn't have been happening. Now, Grayson was back in Gotham after going on a search for the famous Scarecrow. What the hell went wrong you may ask? Scarecrow's fear gas had gotten to you. Your greatest fear coming to your mind, kicking in as you tried to fight off whoever had been around to try and stop it.
What you hadn't expected was the feeling of Scarecrow's hook digging into your flesh, your stomach specifically. The blood that had begun to spill after the hook had been pulled back, now remaining in Scarecrow's hand. You hadn't felt the feeling of being pulled into someone's arms.
But here you were. Cradled in the arms of Dick Grayson. Robin, Nightwing, Richard, whatever the hell it was, now wasn't the time to think about it. The world spun, e/c eyes trying to stay open. "Stay awake!"
But that was all you heard before it turned pitch black.

It’s Supposed to be Father’s Day (John Grayson is the Sole Survivor AU)
In honor of this year’s Father’s Day, as a sort of companion piece to this year’s Mother’s Day fic, here’s a deliciously angsty AU that I wrote out of almost nowhere. Finally putting on a black cotton t shirt after changing out of his outfit, John had picked up the crumbled up black and red suit and discarded boots off the bathroom floor. As he pads on his sore soles out of said bathroom and into his almost barren bedroom, he dumps the outfit into the laundry hamper. He’ll take them privately to the laundry room below tomorrow morning before everyone else in this apartment building wakes up, even though it would involve probably checking for roaches and spiders in that place.
He sighs as he drags himself to his decaying and no doubt expired mattress he calls a bed. Flopping on the uncomfortable, spring filled bed on his stomach, John breathes out. Only about two years ago, his bed would’ve not only had been more comfortable because of it being better maintained but moreso, he’d have a certain someone to share with.
A certain someone who was probably one of the only few people in his life that he loved dearly and loved him back in turn.
A certain someone who was the reason on his right hand’s ring finger was a simple yet poignant gold band.
A certain someone who his beloved and yet tragically, two years ago, both her and their son Richard, Dick for short, had their lives cut down because he stuck by his principals and refused to pay some tough guys a single penny into their racket.
John takes a sitting position on his worn out mattress, looking down at the amount of bruises, cuts, bullet wounds and other scars that littered all over his body and grew since that ‘accident’ that claimed his wife and little boy. He can tell which ones were before he came back to the States, when his Marine platoon were trudging through the desert sands and hostile environments of Qurac and their resident insurgents. Those are the ones that more or less blended in a bit better with his skin…in contrast to the scars that don’t. Those are more recent, his ‘badges’ from his tour of combat as the Kevlar clad vigilante, ‘the Red Owl’.
His war against crime to protect the innocents is frankly both what’s damaging him but also what really keeps him going forward. At least one of the few things; other reason exist. Be revenge against that one man...Zucco, he’s still out there, on top of the world, ruining lives by the tens of thousands every day, like his; some form of probably self-pity or loathing of himself after all, this was a far cry from the happy performer he was...he probably deserves it. Or maybe, just maybe...this is in a way, his method to do one thing he cannot for the life of him every get to do...moving on.
If only it was any way easy for John Grayson, the last living member of the Flying Graysons, to move on. After all, it’s Father’s Day tonight. If only had Dick been there so he can say he can do the laundry first thing int he morning. If only had Dick been there to gaze in awe as his Father told him of his recent adventure as Red Owl, the thrills, the twists, turns and wonderful chaos that can make for a great story. If only had his beloved family been there as a reminder of what he is at heart at the end...a father.
If only he didn’t lose that family to such an ironic and terrible fate, an arranged ‘accident’ that sent the two of them plummeting to the sand and sawdust coated solid ground below with him being unable to catch them in his hands. If only he was after who outlived his own child, quit the very circus he worked in for all his life and became a Marine fighting the most heartless and ruthless enemies in the most inhospitable places. If only he wasn’t right now burying his face on his knees and refusing to let any tears fall since he has to be strong.
After all, it’s supposed to be Father’s Day...

BATGIRL (FIVE)
Dick sputtered for a second before answering, the smile faltering on his face. "What? Of course not, I barely even know the guy."
Barbara faltered, put off by how simply truthful he seemed. She wondered if it was all in her head. Chewing on her lip, she nodded, more to herself than anyone else. "Yeah, alright."
Barbara didn't think that she was a weak person. She was actually pretty fucking great at confrontation. Her screaming matches with the Commissioner proved that time and time again. But this was Dick Grayson, the only person she would ever even consider a friend outside of her cousin.
"Howabout's we rejoin the group?" He asked, easily falling back into the easy-going socialite persona she always saw at school. Babs was starting to wonder if he was just acting whenever she saw him. The flash of— of whatever it was that went on earlier was enough to make her wary.
Still, Babs nodded and smiled back at him, walking towards the group a good twenty feet away. They were going to the rec room next. Well, the hallway outside of it; the interior was deemed 'too dangerous' by some PTA mom or another.
Her Mary-Jane's (the dumbest shoe in the entire galaxy) clacking against the cement floor and the occasional muffled scream were the only sounds heard as the two of them walked a few feet behind the bored group of teenagers. For the first time in Barbara's memory, it seemed like Dick Grayson didn't know what to do.
Suddenly, a shout of anger rang out from next to them, a broken door falling to the ground. Crooked nails on dirty hands reached towards Barbara, before Dick was yanking her backward. She stumbled after him, his arms wrapping around her as they hit the corner, their classmates thundering around them. In the chaos, Dick held her tightly, letting go only as the screams got louder.
Turning, Barbara looked for Dick, losing him in the crowd of students now flooding Arkham. It was a mess and Dick had just ditched her during a breakout.

Twenty minutes later, all of the students were back on the busses, Dick nowhere to be seen. Barbara texted him nearly a dozen times before getting a response. Gt on the wrng bus. C U at schol.
She frowned, sinking into her seat. Barbara figured he had ditched her for one of his dozen other friends, probably the people he went to find during the near-breakout. Barbara couldn't help but wonder why Dick had even bothered to go with her in the morning at all. It was clear that something odd was going on, she just didn't know what.
It was weird that James and Dick had both been so . . . tense in the infirmary. Thinking back, she had never seen James act so weird around anyone but the Commissioner. It made sense when it was him and his father, they had been on the rocks for as long as Barbara could remember. But, as far as she knew, James and Dick had never even met. And Dick— well Dick wouldn't hurt a fly. Babs had never seen him be unwilling to talk to anyone, let alone so hostile.
Then, there was the whole near-escape thing. Dick had reacted quicker than the doctors, pulling her out of the way and away from the raging patient. Her face felt hot as she remembered his arms caging her in a hold of protection as he made sure she was safe. But, right afterward, he had just . . . disappeared. Ditched her, reminding Babs that he wasn't her friend. Babs didn't have friends anymore. She just had James.
After returning to the school, Barbara sat alone outside the school with her earbuds in. She didn't really feel like looking for Richard Grayson at the moment and the day's mood had been soured. Things weren't adding up and she couldn't help but think that something was being kept from her. He tried talking to her once the teachers released them from the rest of their classes. But Babs wasn't in the mood for half-assed bullshit. And the day was just another reminder that she didn't have any friends. She had lost that part of her months ago and she'd probably never get her back.
When she arrived back at home that day, the house was as quiet as ever. She felt on edge and more than a little hesitant to go inside. After what she had seen at the Asylum, she understood why the Commissioner didn't want her to go.
But, when she walked in the door, the house wasn't empty.

"I can't believe you, Barbara— forging a signature, lying to me and the school!" He ran a hand over his face, breathing deeply.
"Uncle Jim— "
"I'm disappointed in you." He stated, voice low. "Your father would be ashamed."
Barbara reeled back like she had been slapped. The Commissioner never talked about her parents, especially not her father. "I'm— "
"You're grounded for three weeks." The Commissioner cut, grabbing his coat. "I'm going back to work."
Pushing hair from her face, Barbara choked on air as the door slammed shut behind the Commissioner. Her hands shook and her lips trembled, but she refused to fall apart. She felt like an idiot. She was an idiot.

He meant something to Babs even when they weren’t holding hands and sharing a bed -- this relationship mattered too much to her for her to go all in on a flirtatious joke. And it was Dick. so like, i don't know much about the dceu beyond the basics, what i've picked up from fic, the wonder woman movies, and the snyder cut,
and i'm currently trying to write a prompt fill for it because i loved the idea, so i'm doing a little research into the timeline of batman and stuff and,,,
the suit in the batcave is dick's?!?!?!?! what the fuck??!?!?!?!
i just assumed it was jason todd's, because getting tortured and killed by the joker is his story, and even the wiki lists the event as "a death in the family", the name of the comic run where jason gets tortured and killed by the joker,
but the story is dick's in the dceu????????
