"Why do you care?" i don't mind the fandom <3

A/N: Set after the movie. Reader is Tom & Atlanna’s daughter, born after Arthur (& Orm).

"Why do you care?" The words felt unfamiliar on Orm’s tongue as he spoke them, uncertainty spilling into the softness of his tone. He lay on the single bed, legs stretched out as he sat against the headboard, a book in his hands. You sat cross-legged on the floor, your own book open in your lap, but you looked up at your brother’s words, your confusion obvious.

“About me,” Orm clarified, noticing it. He absently waved a hand, his book forgotten for the moment though he attempted to sustain the appearance of being interested. “Why do you care about me?”

You lowered your book, a frown softening your features. “Where’s this come from?” you asked, his words being the first of a topic you hadn’t yet heard him speak of.

Orm shifted on the bed, rolling over possible words in his mind. “You’ve been coming to visit me for weeks now,” he decided on, peering curiously at you. “Why?”

It was a question that you had been waiting for, though you hadn’t realised it. Why were you bothering with him, the man who had attempted to kill Arthur multiple times, had almost succeeded in causing a grandiose war between the ocean and the surface, and had succeeded in an outbreak of war between neighbouring kingdoms of Atlantis? He’d brought about the death of many and a plentiful rift among the ocean that Arthur was still attempting to close, so why you had been spending a couple hours of your day, multiple days a week since he’d been arrested, with him in his cell...he did not know. Not that he would ever complain. The company was appreciated and the person was valued more than he would have once believed.

Shrugging, you gave him the answer you pegged as obvious. “We’re siblings,” you stated.

“Half,” Orm absent-mindedly corrected.

You blinked, a little taken aback. “That matters to you?”

For a moment, Orm looked straight at you, noting the disappointment glazing your eyes, and he felt a swell of something...some emotion...in his heart. Something he wished to grasp onto and keep there.

“No,” he said genuinely, dipping his head to ensure you could see he meant it. He sat up, stretching his arms in front of him, and you, satisfied, allowed yourself a small smile.

“There you go, then,” you said plainly. “I’d rather have two siblings than one. It’s much more fun.”

“Is it?” The curiosity in his voice, mingled with the hint of longing, reminded you not for the first time that while you’d had Arthur your entire life, Orm had for the most part been alone. While you had a father who’d raised you perfectly, you didn’t think Orvax had been the type to stick around and watch his son’s first steps or laugh at his first words. It was one of the multiple reasons you’d made an effort with him. When he was released, because you knew Arthur wouldn’t keep him locked away forever, you wanted all of you to be friends. Siblings. Two brothers and a sister, overcoming the rocky bumps at the beginning of their journey to sail smoothly through the rest of life together.

“You’ll know that soon,” you promised him, “you’ll feel it just as Arthur and I do.”

Orm let the minutest of smiles appear on his face as he nodded to himself, feasibly attempting to convince himself that that would be the case. He didn’t know Arthur. He didn’t know how much longer he would be here. He didn’t know when Arthur would strike up that talk he’d mentioned. But something in your voice, that optimism he’d come to admire in you, rekindled the fire in his chest a little more each time you came to see him.

He flicked his eyes up to meet yours. “Perhaps,” he agreed, just as you marked your page and closed your book, moving to stand to your feet.

“I’d better go,” you said. “Can I...come back tomorrow?”

Orm breathed a short laugh. “I’ll check my schedule.”

“Bye,” you said with a fond roll of your eyes. You knocked three times on the cell door and waited for it to open. Orm nodded once when you sent him a small wave and left, and then the door shut, and he was alone once more.

“Until tomorrow,” he said, falling back on the mattress. “Little sister.”

Drabble: Yet Another Case Of Necromancy

"Give up, Belos! You're cornered!" Batman spoke up with a stern expression. The Dark Knight had enough of the Emporer's bullshit. "Never!" As soon as Belos had said that, he targeted Colli, who already was weakened due to some minor blood loss.

"Leave this child alone, you foul man!" Wonder Woman protected the celestial boy with otherworldly fluffy lavender hair and a heart of gold. "Thank you, Diana." Colli gave her a weak smile. Hunter held his little Sunshine in his arms.

Batman, Superman, Aquaman and Flash attacked Belos frontal, while Green Lantern and Wonder Woman attacked the puritan from behind. Colli regenerated a bit and used this opportunity to destroy Belos' new Black Lantern ring.

"NOT AGAIN!" Belos was furious as the young Grimwalker and the sweethearted starboy practically dragged him back to the Boiling Isles. The Emporer was immobilized by Colli's magic.

Weekly Writing Update #76 (December 17th, 2023)

Nothing like a rainy, cold December week to make me sleepy and not very motivated for writing. But I'm almost done with all of my Christmas gift stuff, and then I can focus on things outside of crafts, and hopefully can get to writing because I have a LOT of writing projects for the holidays still needing attention. And I have a week to do it, then another week after that to work on New Years stories. lol. But I think I'll be alright, just have to focus. I succeeded at that for NaNoWriMo, I can do it here too. Right? Yeah. If I don't just end up living at the movie theater this week (I'm going to see Boy And the Heron, Aquaman 2 AND The Iron Claw before Christmas?) Anyway, i'm keeping up with the weeklies and Ficmas, so that's all good at least. I'll get there! See you all next week.

A/N: her power omg....... anyway i thought about basing this prompt off of That Scene where she’s in that wine store, but changed my mind. hope you guys like this one!! (spotify prompts are not open)

You’re spluttering against concrete, water ripping through your lungs as you gasp for air, choking on the saltwater taste in the back of your throat. Everything happened so fast, the ocean waves crashing over Arthur’s car before everything went black, the car tumbling through the water as you struggled to unclip your seatbelt trapping you in your seat. You managed to yank yourself free, and you were propelled out of the open window before you felt your body hit the ground, hard.

Your hands and arms are shaking as you struggle to prop yourself upright, too weak to barely move, and you muster up enough strength to look around you, eyes widening as you realise some sort of dome has formed around you, the water ruthlessly crashing around you but not entering the almost sacred space that’s formed.

“y/n!” you hear Arthur yell your name, and you look up to see that he’s also found his way into this pocket of safety against the furious sea. He bends down beside you, trying to help you upright, and he looks around, desperately hoping his father is nearby.

Before you can even begin to try and understand what’s happening, you see a figure through the ocean. She waves her arms, pushing the water away from her, as if she alone commands the feral ocean that has turned against you. You stare, in awe, as she raises her arms, teeth gritted in effort as she strains to bring the water under control, tendrils twirling around her body as the waves around you begin to rein in.

Had you not just almost died, had the whole experience not been so traumatic, you would’ve found it beautiful.

The water finally dies down, slinking away from you as Arthur finally catches sight of his car. Rushing over, he yells, “Dad!”

You flinch as you hear the car door crashing against the floor as Arthur rips it open, and the mysterious woman crouches beside you, putting a gentle hand on your arm as she asks, “Are you alright?”

“Yeah?” you manage to nod, still in shock. “I... I don’t know how to thank you.”

“No need to thank me. I’m Princess Y’Mera Xebella Challa.” she introduces herself with a small smile. You blink at her, and she adds, “Mera is fine.”

“You saved my life, Mera,” you smile back at her, feeling your heart skip a beat as she beams at you. Before she can respond to you, the two of you are interrupted as Thomas splutters back to life behind you, coughing up water as Arthur keeps him upright, and Mera offers you her hand as she helps you to your feet, the two of you rushing over to help them while you’re still holding her hand.

Y/N dreamily stared at Arthur as he excitedly spoke about his latest trip to Atlantis. Y/N was enamored with the way Arthur’s voice would increase in volume when he’s very excited and how his hand gestures were what Y/N would call adorable. Y/N has what most people call a crush, a rather large one. Yet Y/N would never reveal her true feelings towards the King of Atlantis. Y/N could not risk their wonderful friendship on the off chance that Arthur deemed her worthy of his affections. Y/N was content with their current relationship, no matter how much she would love to cuddle up to Arthur after a long day and kiss his lips and run her hands through his luxurious hair… “Y/N? You there? Did you hear what I said?” Arthur asked after noticing Y/N wasn’t responding. “Hmm…what?” Y/N said, having been knocked out of her Arthur daze. “Did you hear what I just said?” Arthur asked. Y/N simply nodded, hoping that would suffice. “Okay then… As I was saying Mera and I need to talk with the other members of the League cause..” Y/N stopped listening to Arthur once she heard Mera’s name. Y/N didn’t hate Mera. Mera was a confident, beautiful warrior princess. Mera was everything Y/N was not. Y/N wasn’t confident. Her shy and nervous nature prevents her from talking to strangers on the phone, let alone address a whole nation. Mera could talk to all of Atlantis with ease, further proving Y/N’s thought that Mera was perfect for Arthur and she was not. Y/N also considered herself anything but beautiful. Mera has a gorgeous hourglass figure and her fish scale jumpsuit helped accentuate even more. While Y/N has curves to spare. When Y/N looked at herself in the mirror she didn’t see the future queen of Atlantis. More evidence proving that Arthur could never have feelings for her. On top of all that Mera had the ability to control water. Y/N, on the other hand, had the ability to badly sing karaoke. Is it even a question which talent is more impressive. No wonder Y/N’s mood always worsened when she heard Mera’s name or was graced with her presence. Seemingly noticed Y/N’s mood change, Arthur asked, “Seriously, what’s going on?” Y/N shifted her gaze from Arthur towards the floor, trying to avoid eye contact for as long as possible. Her attempts were futile because Arthur simply touched her chin and turned her head towards him. Arthur’s worried face caused Y/N’s walls to crumble. “I-I like you,” she whispered as quietly as possible. Arthur laughed and said, “I like you too, Y/N. We’re friends…Remember?” Y/N spoke again except this time with a volume to match Arthur’s, “No! Not like that! I LOVE YOU!…I love how passionately you talk about Atlantis. I love how you find any excuse to visit your dad’s lighthouse or the beach. I love how you brush those loose strands of hair that keep escaping your bun behind your ear. I love how your nose crinkles when you try to eat any of my cooking disasters. I love how you laugh at my terrible jokes…I love you.” Arthur stood silently, trying to process what just happened. Y/N took this as a sign of rejection. “I need to go. I’m sorry. Just forget I said that.” Y/N rambled as she started to grab her stuff. Before Y/N could reach the door, Arthur grabbed her wrist and finally responded. “I love you too.” Y/N whipped her head around and looked at Arthur. “What?” She spoke softly. “You heard me. I love you, Y/N L/N.” Instead of responding, Y/N wrapped her arms around Arthur’s neck and kissed him. Having to separate for air, they rested their foreheads against one another. “We should do that again,” Arthur said softly. Y/N chuckled before kissing him again.

Maybe Y/N was worthy of Arthur’s affection after all.
