That damm skiing
Summary: Your skiing trip with Lando takes a slightly different turn
Word Count: 1k
Warnings: Nothing bad, some mentions of a ski accident
A/N
Two in a day, woah I don't know what magical motivation fairy visited me but here we are haha.
Hope you enjoy reading it, (P.S. I couldn’t find a good photo of him skiing but snow is snow so yeah)
Love you guys Magdi <3
Tumblr media
Lando asked if you wanted to join him on a ski trip last minute. One of his friends couldn't go, so a spot opened for you.
You and Lando haven't been together for that long. So when he asked if you wanted to join, you politely declined, stating you didn't want to intrude on his friend group.
He agreed, even if he wasn't happy with your answer. But after he told you that you could go with them, you couldn't say no to his sweet face and the excitement in his eyes.
That brings you to where you are right now, cuddled up against Lando in a private chat he rented, chatting with Pietra about god knows what.
After you landed, the group made its way to the hotel so you could unpack everything and head to the ski resort as soon as possible.
The room was beautiful, with big windows overlooking the wintery mountain scenery you were in. Lando flopped down on the big fluffy bed as soon as you unlocked the door.
Chuckling, you let your bags fall to the floor and jump on top of him, sprawling out like a starfish.
"Hmpf, baby get off your getting heavy."
Gasping, you sit up, looking at him with an offended expression. "Are you implying that I'm to heavy for your 'overly athletic body' ?!"
Grabbing your waist, he makes you sit on his lap. "What's up with the air quotes? I have an overly athletic body. Look at me!"
He's gesturing all over his body, flexing his biceps in front of your face, and you could've sworn your mouth started to water. But before anything other than 'heavy cuddling' could happen, you heard Max banging his fist on the door that connects your rooms.
"OI, GET YOUR ASSES UP, OR WE'RE GOING WITHOUT YOU!"
Sighing at the same time, you and Lando get up and start to get dressed in your ski clothes.
You spent the whole afternoon skiing or trying to ski (cough, cough, Lando trying to stop cough, cough). Lando's friends were great. They tried to include you as much as possible, which made you feel welcome.
After a quick lunch and some hot drinks, Lando and Max wanted to ski down the more difficult slopes while the rest of you stayed back, not trusting your skills enough to come unharmed out of this.
"BABE COME ON, IT'S NOT AS HARD AS IT LOOKS!"
Lando screamed up to you. He had the crazy idea that it would be fun to ski the most difficult slope, stating it would be 'really fun'.
After some bribing, you finally caved and started to ski down. At first, it was not that bad, you even managed to pick up some speed. But suddenly, you lost control, and the only thing you saw was white.
Lando watched the horrifying scene unfold in front of him, got out of his skis and ran up to you as fast as he could.
"Baby, baby are you ok?!"
Groaning, you turn to look at him as you felt strong pain surge through your right leg. Crying out in pain, you looked at him with a scared look.
"Lando, my leg hurts so much, I think I broke it."
"Okok I'm calling help. I'm right here, baby. Don't worry!"
Your friends started to gather around you, worried about your well-being.
A ski ambulance brought you and Lando down and transferred you to the nearest hospital after your leg didn't stop swelling.
Now, you were lying in a hospital room waiting for the test results of your x-ray. Lando was beside you, feeling immensely guilty for convincing you to ski down there.
"Y/N I'm so incredibly sorry for that."
Tightening your hand around his, you looked at his face. Now, really noticing his guilty expression, and how he wasn't able to look into your eyes.
"Hey baby, look at me. It's true, that wasn't one of your brightest ideas, but I was still the one who skied down there, so it's not your fault."
Thinking for a second, you add," Ok maybe a bit."
Giggling slightly, the two of you cuddled closer together, still waiting to know what was wrong with you.
It turned out that you broke your leg, not bad enough to need surgery but bad enough to need a cast and crutches.
It was late at night when you and Lando arrived at the hotel. Your friends went back a few hours ago, not wanting to have all the fun without you. He wrote hourly updates into the group chat to let them know what was happening.
They all waited for you in the hotel lobby, not wanting to leave you alone. It touched you as Pietra immediately came up to you, asking how you were doing.
After explaining everything, you all decided to call it a night and discuss the rest of your trip tomorrow as sleep started to catch up on all of you.
Lando did everything in his power to make you as comfortable as possible. He built a literal pillow-fort in your bed, helping you into comfy clothes and prompting your leg up to make you as pain-free as possible.
Even after what you told him in the hospital, the guilt was still eating him alive. He felt terrible as your scared face flashed up in his memories again.
Looking to his left, he saw you typing something on your phone, the white cast looking out from under the blanket.
Sitting back, he wrapped his arms around you, nuzzling his head into your hair, breathing in your scent.
"You ok?"
His muffled voice rang to your ears. Looking up at him, you answered his question with a nod and a soft smile.
Cuddling back into his embrace, you felt sleep slowly taking over your body. The last thing you heard was Lando's voice saying, "That damm skiing", before sleep took over completely.

story under the cut:
Klara looked into the mirror. Did she overdo the blush this time? Her hands felt weird, as if it was harder to control them, like they usually did when she was too anxious about something.
She knew perfectly why she felt like that. Yesterday's work conversation has been on her mind the whole day. Sarah asking her to come and talk, asking about how she feels and how Tobias's doing, which felt really out of place for a typical conversation at a UDL office. But Sarah just continued talking about the topic, and brought up the project's ties to the company, and the other company that's partly owning Halcyon. And how bad it would be if Samuel was left "walking around", as she put it. Klara realized right away what she meant.
And apparently, Sarah really wanted Klara to take part in this task. To hang out near her while she did the talking, Klara assumed. Or hoped so.
It felt wrong and made Klara feel awful.
The whole morning felt slower than usually. It took Klara a while to get out of bed, a rare thing to happen for a morning person like her. Waking up alone surprised her even more, considering how Tobias was not a morning person.
She found him in the kitchen, basking in the morning sunlight just like their cat, which was laying in his arms while he was reading a book. Though he looked more like he was still partly sleeping or something, one hand leaning on the table and holding his head up, another lazily petting Melody, eyes closed and face turned away from the window.
Klara remembered him waking up in the middle of the night, from another nightmare, he didn't want to talk about it and instead fell asleep again. Or that's what she assumed, at least. Seems more like he was awake most of the night.
She walked quietly to the kitchen table and leaned a bit to kiss his cheek and whispered, "Hey, good morning."
Tobias opened his eyes slowly, smiling widely, "Good morning, did you sleep well?"
"I guess so. You didn't?"
"You're a mind reader, honey," he murmured and pointed at her thermos standing on the table, "I made you coffee."
"That's so sweet of you." She placed her hand on his shoulder, gently rubbing it. "What are your plans for today?"
"Dad...um, Oliver's going to take me to meet up his friend, a therapist of some kind. Maybe he could help? Though, what you said yesterday helped a lot, too."
Klara tried to remember what she said to him. Surely she couldn't have accidentally mentioned what Sarah had said, or planned, regarding Samuel. "What do you mean?"
"You saying that you're 'hundred percent sure he won't come back'," Tobias replied, making quote marks with his hands, "It felt like you're very sure about it, and something I learned is that you're right most of the time."
I'm only sure about it because I know what is going to happen to him soon. She moved her hand from his shoulder to softly cup his cheek. "Glad I could help, honey. Are you coming home after that?"
"Uh, wait..." he closed his eyes to think, or maybe to just lean his head into her hand more, and continued, "I think dad mentioned something about going to his place for the evening, said he found some old photos he wants me to see. And also because we still haven't finished the chess game."
You have no idea how glad I am to hear that you two are catching up. "Did you say you're playing chess?"
"It's making me insane, to be honest. Too many rules and things to remember. I still have no idea how I haven't lost yet, I'm just winging it. It's my first time playing chess." Melody meowed softly and he chuckled, "You're so right, you're much better at it. Maybe I should take you with me and have you beat him at chess."
"Wish I could join you and see that," Klara smiled and pet her head, "Who's a smart kitty? You are, yes you are." The cat blinked slowly at her, purrs becoming louder. "Watch after him," she murmured. A thing said jokingly, of course, it's not like a cat could take care of a human or protect them. But Klara sure hoped that her presence would make Tobias feel safer while being home alone.
"I'm sure she will, won't you, Melody?" He reached for her treats and gave her a fish-shaped one. "Are you leaving already?"
Klara nodded, "I'll buy something to eat on my way to work, don't worry. Thank you for the coffee," She kissed him on his forehead and picked up the coffee thermos, "See you in the evening. Or whenever you'll return from your chess game."
"Hah, I hope it will end soon."
----------
"Come with me," Sarah walked by and waved to follow her. Yesterday's conversation appeared in my mind again. This is really going to happen, then?
Klara closed her computer, stood up quickly and followed Sarah. A few co-workers looked at Klara as she passed them by, mildly surprised looks on their faces. The whole situation must've looked like Sarah wants to have a work-related conversation, and not a friendly one.
Would it have been a better thing than this?
They walked in silence. Sarah looked like she was on her way to do some serious bureaucratic work, something only her status allowed her to do. In a way she was, except that this isn't supposed to leave a paper trail. How many jobs like this has she done for UDL already? How usual is such task in this corporation? Klara had heard rumors, but never seen it actually happen.
She stopped in front of the door and turned to her. "I'll do the talking, you just hang out in the background. If he asks something, answer something he'd probably want to hear." Klara didn't even have time to nod in acknowledgement as she already turned away and opened the door.
The interview rooms looked a bit like some interrogation rooms you'd see in the serials, though a bit more cozier with all the pictures and soft chairs, and no big window. The workers that are supposed to record the whole thing sat idly, tweaking the camera and microphone. They turned to the door, excited, only to be told to leave the room this time. As they left, Sarah sat in the chair and nodded a hello to the man sitting on the other chair.
"I was surprised to get a message from you, after the last time," he said, "What made you change your mind?"
"We haven't changed our minds yet, sir," Sarah replied. "Your son is a suitable candidate, but having you as his father is quite...problematic." She carefully placed the grey folder on the table and placed her hands on it. "But we could forget about that..."
The man smirked. "You want to do something..." He leaned closer, placing a finger on the folder, "...something illegal, maybe? What is it?"
Sarah opened the folder a bit and pulled out a photo. "Do you know this man?"
"Samuel Blackwell."
"Good, no need for introductions, then." Sarah glanced at me quickly, before continueing. "He was leading one of our projects, a collaboration between us and Kolway Pharmaceuticals. He fucked up, and now he's on the run."
"And you want him, what, out of the country? Keep him safe from angry workers? I've heard what he did, that he's connected to the deaths of QA team's secretary, almost killed his lead chemist because the man wanted to-" He stopped and stared at Klara. "Interesting reaction you had at the last part. For the future, next time you want to hide your feelings, remember to watch after muscles around the nose." He looked back at Sarah. "Apologies for reading the situation wrong. How do you want him killed?"
"We need some information from him first. But as soon as possible is good." Sarah's voice was perfectly calm, as if she's done this several times already.
"Well then! If that's the case," he said while getting up and closing his suit, "I'll see you after your work day is over."
"Wait! What do you mean 'see'-" Klara stopped mid-sentence, realizing she spoke out loud.
"I mean that you're both coming with me. It will be fun, trust me!" He shook Sarah's hand and nodded to Klara before leaving, "Nice doing business with UDL, as always."
Sarah stood up and gave her the folder. "Get rid of this before noon."
"Okay, but-" Klara paused, looking for right words. It's not like saying everything that's on your mind to your boss was a good idea. "You didn't say we'll be coming with him."
"Things happen." She opened the door. "Besides, I'm sure you'd enjoy getting to say a thing or two to Samuel."
-----------
Klara looked into the mirror on the bathroom wall, still foggy after the hot shower. Everything seemed clean, though it's not like there would still be any stains left after spending 20 minutes in the shower rubbing literally every place with soap, and then washing hair thrice.
She put on her bathrobe, picked up the spare clothes she was given, and put them into a plastic bag, already missing her shirt and pants she had to leave to the man and his "friends".
"Get everything that has blood on it off you and give it Mark over there," the man had said with a calm voice, pointing at a blonde man standing near a bush, "and go to Nora after that, she'll make sure you don't have any evidence on your hands, and give instructions what to do after."
No wonder he called his friends cleaners. They were good at their work.
Klara had done everything they told her to, Sarah closely following and doing the same things. She seemed calm, unlike how Klara felt.
In the end the man called another friend, who arrived on a car, to get them out of there. He gave a folded paper to Sarah and walked off, carefully stepping over Samuel's body.
Just thinking about him made Klara feel the same kind of feeling she had felt back there. This...silent fury. This emotion with overwhelming force, growing every time the man had spoken about what happened.
The man's look of approval as she let go of the bloody knife.
It's as if it was their idea from the start, to get her to do the dirty work. Sarah seemes pleased, happy. Happy that she now has something to blackmail Klara with, in case she tried to leave UDL?
Her hands were still shaking.
I knew this was a bad idea.
She thought about the conversation in the car again.
The silence had been annoying her the whole ride, and questions filled her mind. Finally after some time, she asked Sarah, "Was this your plan the whole time?"
Sarah didn't react. Was she lost in her thoughts, or simply ignoring her?
"This is not the first time he has helped UDL do its dirty, unofficial jobs, am I right?"
Sarah glanced at her quickly and looked out of the window, refusing to answer.
"Based on the conversation in the interview room. It sounded like you've been doing this before. Even with normal workers? Why?"
She saw from the reflection in the window how Sarah rolled her eyes. "Listen, the less you know, the better." She turned to Klara and put a hand on her shoulder. "Now calm down and do not talk about this again."
Looking in the mirror again, she wiped a tear off her cheek and washed her face with cold water again.
"Are you okay?"
The voice from behind startled her, she was supposed to be alone in the apartment.
Klara turned around and noticed Tobias, peeking into the room through a half open door. "Hey. Um, I- what? Aren't you supposed to be at Oliver's place?"
"He had to go do something in the hospital earlier than his shift was supposed to start. I've been here since noon, just took a nap on the couch. Sorry I didn't notice you came home."
"It's fine, don't worry. I-", she paused, collecting her thoughts together to say something coherent, "-The house was all dark and, well, I thought no one's home."
"Cons of not making any noise while sleeping, huh?"
"Yeah..."
Tobias walked in, a set of clothes in his hands. "Thought I should see if you forgot them, again. Seems I were right."
"Thank you." Klara smiled. She didn't forget about it, she just wanted to wash everything that was left off her before even stepping into the rest of the house. She held the clothes firmly, realizing how the softness of the bathrobe was definitely more calming than a hoodie right now.
"Is everything alright?"
She wanted to lie. She wanted to say everything is fine and there is nothing that's making her feel so disgusted of herself. Nothing bad happened, never.
But Klara never lied to people she loved.
"No. I did something...awful..." She sat down on the floor, hugging her knees. "Probably a typical task for someone with a high status in the company, based on my coworkers. I shouldn't even be talking about this, considering how it actually was a job task, but what the hell." She sighed and continued, "Long story short? Samuel is dead. UDL wanted him dead very badly. You can stop worrying now."
Tobias stared at her, looking confused. "What do you mean?"
"They killed him. Or, well," her voice became quieter, and she whispered, "They made me do it."
"They...oh, no." He stood quietly, hand covering his face and staring at the wall. After a moment he rubbed his face and muttered something before sitting down next to her. "Why you?"
"They...they asked some man to do it. I thought they were only keeping me around to see if everything's going well. But he realized that I have another connection to what happened and...made me do it..." She sniffed. "Had a full speech there, pointing out every now and then what Samuel did, as if he was building up my anger. I didn't even realize-"
Tobias wrapped his arm around her, murmuring in her ear, "It's okay, it's not your fault."
"But it is-"
"No. They made you do it, and you had no other safe choice. It's their fault." He gently pulled her closer and wiped her tears with his sweater's soft sleeve, kissing the places they were on afterwards.
They sat together for a while, Klara sobbing quietly and Tobias softly whispering soothing things to her. Melody walked into the bathroom and laid down next to them, either to offer some comfort or just not to miss out on cuddling.
After some time, Tobias whispered, "I'm so sorry you had to go through all that because of me."
"Don't you say things like that, it's not your fault, either," she replied, "It's the fucking management, using their subordinates for things they wouldn't do..." She leaned even closer and added, "I'm so fucking tired of all this. I just hope life in Halcyon would be much calmer."
"I'm sure it will be."

aC on vacation
so here's a summary of day 1, more later when i feel like getting the photos off my phone
got to a hotel where my brother and his wife are staying because fuck driving several hours when i should be asleep. google maps sends me to a parallel fucking dimension where the hotel was built on the opposite side of the city. also the roads here are somehow iced over when most of the road leading here wasn't so go figure. we try to get dinner and almost everywhere is closed on account of the snow, except for this hole in the wall chinese takeout place, because if you can count on any place to be open, it's one of these. they make the best general tso's chicken i've had in a long time, it turns out
woke up at like four in the morning for our 7:30 am flight, because by airport logic being only two hours early is tantamount to no-showing. this was right after shit got polar so the roads were covered in ice. at the parking place, i tried and failed to get past a barrier before the lever arm came back down again because it was on a slight incline and i couldn't get enough traction to clear it before it closed. this happened like SIX TIMES, it was some Three Stooges shit
our shuttle takes us over to the airport. i stick to my brother like a little kid to his mom because he's done this before and i have not. the flight is going to be five hours. which doesn't make sense to me because the return flight is only supposed to be three and a half. i dunno, maybe headwinds or something? i'm not a fucking pilot. i'm anxious to get this part over with because, again, never flown before. after waiting for clearance for what feels like forever (justified, on account of ice) we're finally in the air. it's... nothing? it's kind of mundane and somehow boring. one of the greatest achievements in human history and the only difference between this and being on a bus packed full of strangers is there's no road to rumble against that eventually numbs your butt, and also it's several degrees of magnitude faster than a bus i suppose
we arrive at LAX and if i didn't already feel like a fish out of water then oh boy. how the fuck do people live like this? how do you figure out who's supposed to go where? it's like living in the Kowloon Walled City, thought the guy who grew up imagining anywhere big enough to have a walmart counted as a "big city"
we get another shuttle, this one absolutely cramped with people, to get to the rental car place. my brother argues with the guy (who isn't even actually *physically* there, he's somehow doing sales over Zoom or some shit) for like half an hour before telling him to cancel the whole thing. turns out they wanted close to four times what he was originally quoted and weren't budging. we decide to get an uber to the closest In-n-Out, because we're in California, and also starving, so why not. we're standing in line looking a bunch of huge dorks carrying around suitcases. if i was ever going to be mugged in broad daylight it would be right here, right now. i order a double double combo, swap out the tomato for onions because raw tomato has all the texture and flavor of a balloon filled with wet sand, and onions and cheeseburgers go together like chocolate and peanut butter. the burger's okay, i guess. the fries are the most boring fries i've ever eaten. at least it's probably the cheapest meal i'll have while i'm here
we take another uber to get to our airbnb, about 45 minutes out. every other billboard is this guy
Tumblr media
we arrive and immediately notice something is wrong. it was advertised as 4 bed. there are TWO double beds. this is pretty good if you're two married couples and not so much if you're the double third wheel travelling with two married couples. there's one room with a folding leather futon and not much else that seems kind of pointless and i decide this is where i'll stay. turns out that futon is the least comfortable sleeping surface ever manufactured in human history and there are maybe three exact positions that are even kind of comfortable enough to fall asleep in while lying on it and not having an iron bar press up into your lower back or your shoulderblade or the back of your neck

Ectober day 4, comin’ at ya!
I SEE DEAD PEOPLE
[Warnings for a panic attack, and mentions of psychosis and near death experiences]
Ever since his accident in his parent's failed ghost portal, he could hear them... see them. Whispy, glowy things that looked like people but... weren't anymore.
He hadn't told anyone, not even Sam and Tucker when they'd pulled him out of that deathtrap in his parents' lab and he was the only one who could see the swirling green mass inside it before he'd passed out and they took him to a hospital. He definitely hadn't told any doctors. A psychosis diagnosis definitely wouldn't look good to the space program, and anyway, he could always tell what was real and what wasn't.
Well... he couldn't tell exactly, but he had ways to check. The things he could see that other's couldn't... no matter how real they looked, or sounded, or even felt, they didn't cast shadows, they didn't show up in photos. And if Danny's camera roll was slowly accumulating hundreds of photo's of walls and sidewalks, that was his business, and no one else's.
He felt suddenly very cold, and he saw his breath mist in front of him, surely as much a figment of his imagination as the quote-unquote 'ghosts' were, since no one else ever seemed to notice it.
Then he heard them, giggling, whispering. Elementary school girls they sounded like. He risked a glance at them out of the corner of his eye.
They seemed to be playing a game of telephone. One would whisper something into the ear of the spectral girl next to her, who would then turn and whisper something to the next girl in line, each giggling when they heard it. He took his eyes off them and tried to refocus on Mr. Lancer's lesson, but the high pitched squeaking and squealing was hard to ignore.
The whispers grew closer, though he still couldn't make out what they were saying, until he felt a small, cold hand cup around his ear, and an ice cold breath sent a chill down his spine as one of the little girls spoke directly to him.
"You're dead. Pass it on."
He gasped loudly and jumped up out of his seat in shock, as if someone had just dumped a bucket of ice-water on his head.
"Danny?" Mr. Lancer drawled, annoyed. "Something you'd like to share with the class?"
"I—" his breathing was shallow and uneven and his whole body was trembling. As often as he was unsettled by the things he firmly believed were hallucinations, he'd never been quite so shaken by them before. He sucked in a breath, and then another, lungs bursting as he failed to release the air building up in them.
"Danny?" Sam asked next to him, reaching out a hand that he flinched away from without thinking as all the air rushed out of him at once and he stumbled, catching himself on his desk. "Are you okay?"
"Danny~" a little girl's sing song voice cut through the white noise in his ears. "You're supposed to pass it on!"
A chorus of giggles filled the air, louder and louder until he couldn't hear anything else, and all Danny wanted to do was scream at the top of his lungs.
Someone tried to take hold of his hands, but he couldn't tell who; he just jerked away from them, stumbling on shaky legs away from his desk and out the classroom door.
Running down the halls, deaf to the world around him.
He had to get away.
He had to get outside.
He had to get warm.
He had to get air.
He had to get some water.
He was alive.
He had to breathe.
He was breathing.
He was breathing.
No, he was hyperventilating.
He felt like he was about to pass out.
Where was he?
He could feel the sun.
It was warm.
It was dark.
Who was screaming?
"Danny? Sweetie?"
His mother's voice.
"Mom?" He cracked open his eyes, blinking against the light.
"Oh, Danny, thank goodness you're awake!" she said, obviously relieved. "You're in the school nurse's office. I told them not to call an ambulance, since I thought a hospital would just make you more stressed after... well, after the accident. I remember how much you hated the hospital."
"Thank you," he rasped, and she handed him the water bottle she was holding, and he accepted it, drinking deeply.
"Do you remember what happened?" she asked.
"I... I had a panic attack, right?" he recalled. He'd had them before; even when he was having it, he'd realized what it was, but his panic attacks always came so suddenly he could hardly think of preventing it when all he could think of was—
You're dead. Pass it on.
"Yes, Mr. Lancer said you just suddenly stood up in his class and started acting strangely," his mother recounted, "then you ran out of the classroom and Sam and Tucker followed you. They couldn't catch up with you, and lost sight of you until they heard you scream and found you passed out in the quad. Do you remember what caused it?"
You're dead. Pass it on.
"No, I don't," he lied. He couldn't tell her the truth. Couldn't tell her that he was seeing things, hearing things, feeling strange chills. "Did I really scream? I don't remember that."
"The way I hear it, you screamed loud enough to wake the dead," she said, eyebrows drawn in concern. "I know you were opposed to therapy after you accident, but... maybe you should reconsider. Like Jazz says, trauma can stay with you your whole life if you don't find a way to heal from it, and a near death experience—" she cut herself off when she heard his breath catch at the mention.
You're dead.
"I mean... the accident was definitely traumatic for you," she corrected. "Honestly, it was traumatic for me, and I didn't even see it, only heard..."
"I appreciate the concern mom, but I really don't want to see a shrink," he said. "I've never been a huge fan of talking about my feelings, and I can cope just fine on my own... in other ways." It sounded like a weak assurance, even to his own ears, especially since he knew all he was doing was trying to ignore the problem and really not coping at all, but he'd seen The Sixth Sense, and he wasn't about to open that can of worms.
Pass it on?
No. I don't think I will.
"I'm just gonna drink some more water, and then head back to class," he told her. "I'm fine now, I promise. You don't have to stay."
"If you're sure..." she agreed, though she didn't seem so sure herself. "I'll just sit here until you head to class, if that's alright with you. Have you had lunch yet? You should eat something."
"Yeah, okay mom." Topic changed, and crisis averted, he accepted the bagged lunch his mother handed to him and sifted through it for whatever was most edible.
He ignored the grayscale teen floating behind his mom, waving frantically to get Danny's attention.
"Can you see me?" he shouted. "You can see me, right?"
Eventually, he would go away.
But they always came back.

❛❛you’ve never hurt me. ever.❜❜ says 𝑴𝒂𝒙, one of the world's most tempting human beings to hurt, to her dear friend 𝑹𝒖𝒃𝒚, in an effort to pull her out of a pit of self-deprecation after they finished a bottle of cheap, fruity rosé together. ❛❛i've actually, like— i've never seen you hurt anyone but yourself, honestly. and it's just like, how fucked is that? because someone who doesn't hurt anyone else is the last one who deserves to... you know, get hurt.❜❜
Ruby raised her hand to Max's face, her thumb tracing a line across her cheekbone. In her room, the lights dim, it almost felt like she was whole. Max made her feel like she was normal, like she wasn't some broken, sharp thing that cut those around her. The bottle of rosé was barely enough to touch her these days, but she could feel it, the warmth in her bones. Drinking with friends was always better, it felt almost… Healthy. This felt like the kind of thing she'd only seen on her screens, the coming of age film that pretentious teens quoted.
"I love you, Max" She stretched, a tangle of limbs and dirty blonde hair, and let the stream of consciousness wash over her. Because Max's standards must be on the floor, if she thought that Ruby didn't hurt people. And it wasn't always that she tried to hurt people, though she was certainly guilty of it. But she saw her father's face, when she came home too late, or too drunk, or too high. She saw it in her mothers eyes, the few times a year she saw Grace. She saw it when she moved on too quick, or not quick enough, and people started to get too close. She saw it when her jokes turned darker, and people wondered if she really meant them. (She did. She always did.) But more often, Ruby saw the absence of hurt. On photos of her family from before, on her peers when they talked, and loved, and formed themselves. She wasn't blind, she could see how falling under the shadow of Ruby Kane hurt people. Maybe, if she wasn't so selfish, she'd stop hurting people. Maybe she'd try and fix herself, or just withdraw entirely. Whatever stopped her explosion from taking innocent casualties with it.
But sitting like this, the empty bottle between them and the veil between the truth and the illusion thin, Ruby could admit to herself that she couldn't. She would never be selfless enough let Max go, to loosen her grip on this small slice of normality she'd been blessed with. She'd go to Hell for her sins, eventually, but until then, she would appreciate the little moments.
"I don't think life cares about what you deserve. Or you'd be, like… The Queen of everything." Sometimes, it was hard to be around Max. She seemed so lovely, so genuine. She tried, and that was more than Ruby could say about herself. She seemed to shine a light on everything Ruby hated about herself, and the worst part was she would never be able to hate Max for that.

She's in her bedroom, under her covers with a flashlight reading a book about space exploration. She looks up at the moon for what feels like the hundredth time today. It's full tonight. The light reflects off its surface, bright enough that she can read by it if she needs to. She always wants to look at the sky when it's night because she believes there are other worlds out there, just beyond her sight. She imagines them as stars, or planets, or even whole galaxies that exist outside of her world. She wishes she could see one, but she knows that's not possible. Instead, she turns on her bedside lamp and continues reading.
After finishing her book, Noelle shuts off her lamp, then gets ready for bed. She climbs into her sheets and begins to doze off. But instead of falling asleep, she has a strange dream.
She finds herself in a vast desert landscape. A giant, gigantic sand dune lies ahead of her and to the right. On top of the dune sits something she never thought to ever see. Atop the dune, perched upon a rock, stands a creature, a dragon. Its scales are a deep shade of blue and glisten in the sunlight. It stares down at her with its dark, piercing eyes, which seem to pierce straight through Noelle. The creature watches her intently, its attention focused solely on her. For some reason, she doesn't feel threatened by this dragon. Just the opposite, actually. She sees something familiar about this creature. Maybe it's the way it holds itself, the way it walks. Or maybe it's the way the dragon is staring at her.
In the distance, she sees a small, sparkling orb appear, shining bright against the sunset. The dragon reaches out with its clawed hand to catch it, but misses. The dragon scowls with disappointment. It tries again, reaching higher up the dune, but still cannot reach the orb. It becomes frustrated and throws its head back in frustration.
Then suddenly, the dragon's body begins to glow. The light radiates from its entire being. The dragon's scales begin to shine brighter and brighter until finally, the light surpasses even the brightest star in the universe. The dragon releases its gaze from Noelle, turning to look behind her. As soon as it does, the light fades.
The dragon flies away, leaving Noelle alone on the desert sand. She turns to look at the spot where the dragon once stood. There is nothing there except for the sea of sand and the pale, distant sun. Noelle feels empty inside. She is confused and disappointed. She wonders why the dragon left. Why didn't it want to play anymore?
There is only one place she can think of that might be able to answer her question: the internet.
Noelle took out her phone and pulled up her favorite search engine, typing in "dragon." She clicks "search" and waits for the results. After a few seconds, her phone buzzes. On the screen is an article titled Dragon Sighting in the Desert. The headline reads, "Thousand Foot Dragon Spotted In The Middle Of The Desert Near Hometown!"
Noelle looks at the picture of the dragon. It looks exactly like the one she saw earlier. She clicks on the article and quickly skims over the text. She stops on a photo showing the dragon flying away. Next to the photo, the author has written, "Apparently, dragons fly."
On the bottom of the page is a quote from the dragon, saying, "Sorry I couldn't stay for long. My family needed me home."
Noelle smiles. She's happy now. With this information, she can prove to others that dragons really exist. She puts her phone back into her pocket and closes her eyes. The next thing she knows, she's waking up in the morning. { TYPE: Short-form story * Exper MG }

You Are In Love
Loki x Reader
1989, epilogue
"You are in love, true love."
Summary: It's hard to find the one, but even if you do find him it's always going to be a daily struggle to make it work. Can you even make it work after he broke your heart? The answer to that is complicated, but it all started when you found each other again in the stark tower- and that's where our story begins.
Word count: 7,106
Warnings: some angst, some unreliable narrator, fluff, me being a hopeless romantic.
A/N: this is the very end- the epilogue, and it is based on the 1989 deluxe song You Are In Love. I really think this is important to the story despite it being an epilogue because I based some of the things solely because I wanted a scene here to happen, I needed that scene. Okay idk how this got so long, I'm sorry! Also, not me stealing quotes from my favourite book… I cried writing this.
A/N2: thank you to @chrissquares for all the incredible dividers she made for my series, and for @nacho-bucky who beta read it all and managed to put up with me. I appreciate you two so much, I love y'all!
No one is allowed to repost my writing or steal or copy my work! Reblog on tumblr is fine.

The room was dark and silent as you got into bed, playing the same thing that has been in your mind for weeks now. You heard him in your head, and saw him in your mind as you went to sleep. It hasn't been long since you first saw Loki, but he plagued your mind. Being asleep did not make him go away. You shut your eyes.
The wind felt cold on your skin but your palm was warm as he held you close. When you looked down you found yourself in a dark golden gown, a smile spread on your lips when you looked into his eyes and he took you to dance with him. You saw nothing but him as he twirled you around, your surroundings did not matter as the whole world stood in silence, the two of you were only focused on each other. You were wonderstruck, dancing around with him and looking at his bright blue eyes, you prayed he won't let you go. He only held you lightly with the palm of his hand and the arm around your waist but you felt enough.
He whispered in your ear terms of endearment and you could feel yourself blush. He twirled you around and out of his reach. You danced around all alone, until you turned around and saw Loki sitting on the back of a car, his hand inviting you. You felt your confusion go away as you climbed up to sit next to him, your jeans barely touched his black pants. Then he talked to you.
"Do you remember?" You heard his voice say to you and you turned your head.
"What?" You sat there when Loki talked to you.
"Look up." You heard his voice say to you and you turned your head up and looked at the stars, and your shoulders brushed. A shudder of warmth coursed through you as you saw the brightest star in the sky. You turned your eyes on Loki and the lights turned out.
You woke up in a shudder, heaving, you looked at the clock that mocked you. 1:58.
You turned to the other side of the bed and hoped sleep would take you quietly this time.
Loki walked along the bifrost, his heart was beating and racing, it didn't matter how many times he visited Heimdall, he was still anxious for his answer every time.
"Heimdall," Loki greeted the guardian.
"Prince Loki, are you going to ask the same question every time?" Heimdall looked over at the distressed prince. He remembered seeing him, when he was so young, so happy when he snuck him out at night so he can go to see the human woman he fell so hard for. He remembers Loki coming back in the morning with a smile on his face that he has never seen on him before; he remembers the young innocent prince showing him the necklace he carved especially for you, with his insignia on it; he remembers him being hopeful for the future- with you.
"I just want to know how she is."
Now he is an idiot.
"Just like she was the last time you asked me." Loki merely nodded, looking down on the ground. Heimdall waited for him to ask the other question he always asked.
"Is she- is she seeing someone?" Loki kept his eyes down, he held his breath.
"No." Heimdall tried to comfort the prince but he knew the answer won't do. Loki nodded to him, he never knew if he liked the answer or if he wanted you to find someone and be happy even if it is without him.
"Is she happy?"
"Yes, she is. She is happy and content," Heimdall stepped forward and put a hand on Loki's shoulder. "But it's been four years- don't you think there is a reason why she is still alone?"
"She just hasn't found-"
"She won't find someone who will make her happy like you did."
Loki refused to be selfish like he was in the past with you. Now that he understood what you asked him all those years ago at sunset, he refused to destroy your peace. Yet, he refused to forget you.
"However, your highness, she will not be available forever." Loki finally looked up at him, "and forever is not a lot of time for mortals."
"Then what am I to do about it?" Loki has told Heimdall a great deal about you, he never told his mother about you but since Heimdall was the only one who knew- Loki conversed with him after you had a fight, gushed to him about new midgardian stuff you taught him, and Loki knew that he didn't have to hide you from him.
"Do not sabotage your own happiness, it is not a selfish act if both of you will be happy from it. She will be happy to see you again, I can see that." Heimdall looked into the prince's eyes and hoped he could bring some sense to him.
He almost missed the way his eyes shone for just a moment, before the prince turned away to go back to the palace.
"Thank you, Heimdall, truly." Loki turned to him briefly before turning once again.
He wasn't as uncertain as he thought he would be; he pondered as he made his way across the rainbow bridge.
You woke up yet again alone, another sleepless night made you long for something you didn't have, leaving you tired. You reluctantly got out of bed, closing the curtains and concealing daylight and opting instead to turn on the lights. You had a long day ahead of you, so you shook the blue eyes that haunted you from your mind, you could almost see them in the shadow at the corner of your room.
It was just a trick of the light. You checked.
You walked out the door, not before taking a double look at the apartment, it was empty but… it felt wrong. You could almost see a silhouette, you must have been losing your mind, you thought, as you turned out the lights and walked to work. But right before you closed the door you sneaked one last glance, and you could still see it with the lights out.
Work had been tedious, Pepper was busy which meant that so were you, but at least you amused yourself in your breaks. Seeing the competitive supersoldiers spar on the mat sure could bring a smile to your face any day.
You weren't lonely by any means, you were happy with your new family that seemed to adopt you the moment you got the job, you were happy with your job, but from time to time you couldn't help but feel… hollowed. Something was not quite right, something was missing and you couldn't figure it out. Sure, you didn't have a boyfriend but that wasn't it. Every guy that hit on you just seemed wrong, you didn't feel the need to get one. You were satisfied and happy… was that enough?
You buttoned your coat to shield you against the autumn chill as you went back home. Happy suggested driving you, Tony basically commanded it but you sneaked out as he was arguing with someone on the phone, waving Happy goodbye as the elevator doors closed. You felt like walking today.
Autumn air swept past you as you walked, you looked through store windows at the TV, one reporter was talking about how there were sightings of the evil god of mischief. You stood there and stopped to look at it, could you have missed him? You remembered when you saw him at the Avengers Tower- when you first met him at the Tower- he left too soon, you fixed yourself in your own mind and watched as the reporter showed pictures after rambling about how dangerous it is.
Your heavy chest breathed again when you saw the photos- Steve's hair has not been like that in years, this was not recent. You shook your head and continued walking.
You remembered when he passed by you, you remember the chill of him that for some reason gave you warmth. And now in the cold weather you could feel it all over again on your way home. You could imagine it, and it was so real there, him being on your left, you could almost feel him breathing on your neck.
You opened your eyes and looked over your shoulder. He wasn't there.
Long story short, you were sure you were going insane- having an unexplainable crush on a god you met once upon a time, what was it? Four year ago? You hoped your mind would stop listening to your heart this one time.
You met him one time, you talked a bit before he passed by you, meeting him was rare as the glimmer of a comet in the sky- that is what you told yourself at least, when days passed and you remembered him but you didn't see him again.
You shook your head again, shaking him away, you were just chasing shadows and there was no point in that. You knew that and wished logic would calm your racing heart.
Loki stepped into the Allfather's throne room and dismissed all the other Asgardians that were there.
"My son, what are you doing?" Odin rose up before he saw the look on Loki's face and with a raised interest he sat down as Loki went up the golden stairs.
"I have a request, it is important to me."
"And you came to ask me to grant it?" Odin raised a brow and studied the god of mischief, doubtful with every moment that went by. This sure is intriguing.
"I am afraid you are the only one that will be able to fulfill my wish." Loki's thoughts were still messy in their silence, scattered in ways he didn't try to collect. He thought about it the whole way to the palace. Even when he was satisfied here, and when he and Thor became true brothers after everything went down… it still wasn't home. It isn't home- it never was since he met you.
"Well do tell me what made you so desperate that you came to me?" Loki took a breath in.
"My love." He breathed out.
"The mortal midgardian girl?" Odin seemed to understand the situation. He never thought it would come from Loki, he never thought anyone would come to him for it, especially not the prince. "What would you want me to do?"
"The one thing only the Allfather is capable of doing." Loki lifted his head up and looked at his father with determination. He was certain with his decision.
Loki walked the rainbow bridge feeling different and yet the same all at once- he felt new. But with one weight lifted, another dread took its place.
Heimdall nodded at him with a small smile and Loki found himself returning it, it reminded him of the first night he came back to Asgard after meeting you in Midgard. Heimdall always knew from the start.
He stepped into the Avengers Tower, knowing that by this hour you were probably back at your apartment- at home. He stepped into the living room and found the witch, the billionaire, and the captain there sitting around on the several couches.
"Loki?"
"Captain," The god nodded to him in recognition. He wasn't quite sure what to say.
"What are you doing here?" the god walked around to stand in front of the three avengers.
"I've come to a decision."
"I used to want the Throne, father." Loki continued, "The very one you are sitting on, or the one I'd put on Midgard. As the rightful heir to the throne, and as the King of Jotunheim, I deserve that.
"I was born for it- and so, I used to want the throne. I used to think myself superior to everyone in the nine realms, the mortal midgardians out of all… that was until I met her, my love. When you met your love, father, it didn't change you. You caused ruin and shed blood and now you are sitting on a throne built on that in a world that now I am fit to rule." Loki did not let the Allfather speak in between. He deserved this, he knew that now.
"During the time you were away and under my spell, I made Asgard prosper… look how well it all turned out," he chuckled bitterly. "I used to want the throne but now I realize I just wanted to be acknowledged for my abilities, for my wit, instead of being shadowed to the side- all because you decided to pick up a baby and use it as political gain only to find it useless." Loki took a breath to close his eyes, he remembered it all, he remembered the day he found out about it all, about his glorious purpose his father planned for him.
"And Then I met my love, and she saw everything- all of that-inside me already without me having to prove it to her. She made me realize that I have nothing to prove to you- an abuser who calls himself king.
While Thor is my brother, and I acknowledge that I still am both Odinson and Laufeyson, this is not the home I thought I could make it out to be… by fixing everything else and making the people love me, fear me, acknowledge me. Even when my mother was here, I was not able to be fully myself, not here, not like I was whenever I'd sneak out of Asgard to be with her." Loki smiled, thinking about all of your moments together.
"Those were the sole moments where I felt what a home should feel like- though I never had anything to compare it to, and you made me think that somehow I should be grateful for you- for taking me here instead of dying in the cold, even though you were planning to use me as bait to gain advantage on your opponent.
Then I found her and she warmed her way into my heart and despite it all she still loves me and cares for me and I know that if I ever had a home… it wasn't on Jotunheim or here with my brother- it was with her: In a small apartment in Midgard, surrounded by mortals.
"And so, yes I am the rightful king of Jotunheim and a prince of Asgard, god of mischief… but I also have a home waiting for me in Midgard and I also am in love. And only now I realize all I want I can get, which is the home that I gave up on all those years ago- trying to make this home better. I don't want the throne anymore.
"So now, now I choose her."
"You decided to come back?" The witch leaned forward and asked him, he was about to nod when the captain spoke up.
"What about you saying that you want her to have peace?" Steve crossed his arms and rose up, "You said that as a god you won't be able to give her a peaceful life?"
"Yeah what changed in the last few years?" Tony continued sipping on his drink, casually looking over at the god with an arched eyebrow.
"Well, I came to a few realizations about her and myself which is why I am here now." Loki started, "now I can be what she needs me to be, if she will take me back."
"She still thinks of you, her thoughts are so loud sometimes." Wanda smiles at him, he is still wary with her after she saw inside of his mind. "How did you change then?"
"Well," Loki took a breath. "The ruling god, the Allfather, has the ability to revoke the immortality of a god. And so- I asked my father to take away my immortality."
They stared at him in silence, one in disbelief, one studying him, and one confused.
"So now if I stab you, you will die?" Stark asked and the god rolled his eyes.
"The Asgardian gods were never immortal, we are almost immortal, so even if you had stabbed me before I could have died- I however doubt you would have managed to do any harm to me." Loki dismissed the small man.
"Wait, what about your… magic?" Steve asked and one shrug later an identical Captain America stood in front of him, smirking.
"Patriotism, Justice, god bless America!" Loki shapeshifted back to himself before continuing, "I still have my magic, powers, and the rest of the qualities as the god that I am- that make me way above all of you- I am just not as immortal, and I will be able to live with her properly."
"So, you are like a supersoldier." Steve nodded in understanding, and Loki smiled slightly.
"Yes, but a lot more powerful and better."
Steve shook his head but let out a small laugh.
"So when are you going to see her?"
"Well, I think I wasted enough time already." Loki let out a chuckle, and he didn't even bother hiding the excitement in his blue eyes.
Loki hoped his excitement, as well as his nervousness, were hidden- he gave up using illusions around you a long time ago, and it was very long ago but he didn't want to use them now. This time he was going to make it right.
It was weird, not having unlimited time anymore. But his doubts about the decision stopped when you opened the door after hearing his soft knocks.
Your eyes were beautiful, they always were but he missed them terribly, now they were filled with a mix of confusion and excitement. He couldn't help the slight smirk that slipped out across his lips- at least he still had that affect on you.
You had a hard time processing who was at your doorstep, but you could already feel the butterflies blooming in your stomach. So long trying to suppress your weird crush. It seems to be inevitable now that he showed up years later.
When you saw his smirk you realized you must have been staring at him longer than you should have.
"Loki?" his name tasted weird on your tongue, you couldn't place the little spark that flew in your mind, making your head ache a bit.
He brought his hands up and with a light green glow he held blooming flowers in his hand.
"May I come in, love?" you could barely speak with the way his blue eyes shone, like moonlight against the darkness of the night like the suit he wore.
You nodded and stepped back to let him in.
You were certain that when he walked past you and handed you the flowers he had a certain glow to him, like an aura that was visible to the naked eye, it both calmed you down and overwhelmed you, so you looked away.
"These are my favourite, how did you know?"
He turned to look at you and you couldn't help but blush, wonderstruck at the little whispers you could almost hear his eyes hold, a silent question. You couldn't answer.
"I have magic, did you forget, dear?" Loki smiled when you locked the door and turned back to him. "I can read minds."
You laughed, and what a sound it was.
"That's bullshit, I didn't think about flowers now. Can you read what I'm thinking now?" you raised a brow at him, happy to call him on his bluff- you hoped it was a bluff, you'd rather the earth swallow you alive than if he could know what you're thinking while he is here.
"You are wondering what I am doing showing up at your door close to midnight." He took a step towards you. He wasn't wrong. "A little birdie told me."
You let out a nervous chuckle when you saw him standing closer now, but it turned to anger when you understood his words.
"Steve told you?" you went around him contemplating how to kill Steve, Natasha owed you a favor after all; you muttered, "That son of a bitch…"
Loki figured he will go with your answer, it is the easier answer. You came back shortly with a vase and the flowers in the water in it.
"Do not fret, those flowers are special, they have an enchantment on them so they will not die."
At least you didn't have to worry about that, he was so considerate and normal that you almost forgot about the odd situation.
"Why are you here?" You asked and clasped your hands in front of you.
"You told me to come to you if I ever plan to take on the planet again, so here I am." He smiled at you such an honest smile, and you didn't even know why he was so happy, but you knew that smile will linger in your mind like a tattoo kiss. It was so tempting to look at his lips for longer and imagine to yourself what his kiss would taste like. "If I'm honest, you've left quite an impression on me the last time we met."
"Oh?" you hoped the heat in your cheeks was not visible, you bit your lip. "Can I trust the god of mischief to be honest?"
"Of course you can, just trust me." His serious look contrasted your playful one.
"Why do only the untrustworthy people say that?" you mused and smiled at him, hoping to ease whatever tensions you felt brewing in his mind.
"Well, love, that is because the people that you know you can trust don't need to say it." He looked at his shoes and you took the time to really admire him now that he was up close and real.
"Well then, I guess you don't need to say it." You found pride in how he lifted his head and a sly smirk took over. "Do you want something to drink?"
If he was here, after all those years of only imagining him, you could ignore the odd situation just so you could make him stay a little longer this time.
"I'd like that, thank you." You invited him to your kitchen as you made yourself some tea.
"What would you like?"
"Coffee is good." He wondered how far he could take it with you, letting a gentle glow almost reach you when you turned around and he stopped.
"Coffee at midnight?" you questioned him, "Okay, what kind of coffee do you like?"
"I am a god, love, it doesn't affect me the way it affects you," he laughed when you rolled your eyes. "Pick whatever you think I would like."
You nodded at him with a shy smile. You turned away from him and made his coffee as he sat around you at the isle. You felt little tickles in your brain then. You tried to shake them off somehow but when they got stronger you winced at the slight headache.
"Are you okay, love?" god, you were already getting used to the pet name he gave you.
"Yeah, just a headache- nothing tea cannot fix." You laughed and turned back to him and the headache was gone, you couldn't help but wonder if he used his magic to heal your headache. It would be stupid to assume that though, so you stayed silent and took a sip of your tea. You gave him his cup of coffee and your hands brushed- it was one touch but you felt enough to know that he will linger on your skin.
"So tell me," you broke the silence that took over as he kept looking at you with soft eyes. He hummed and urged you to continue, "How can I help you take over earth? Where do we start?"
He laughed and you promised yourself to make sure he will laugh again. And you wanted to hold him, but you held back that urge and relished his familiar- no, comforting presence as you talked through the night.
From there you saw Loki around more, at work or when he would invite himself into your house at night or during your day off. You fell so easily into routine with him, he filled the space in your life that used to be vacant, you never really noticed it until he had to go to Asgard for a month to deal with a meeting. He made up for it when he came back though, walking you home that night and the next night, and the one after that…
It did nothing to sooth your crush on the god, it increased it if anything. Whenever you saw him, he would sooth the headaches you were getting lately, you could almost feel the gentle almost featherlike caresses of his magic- it had to be his magic, even if he never said anything, you saw it in his eyes.
You managed to handle it until he followed you around at work- and you were surprised when the Avengers did not even comment on it or flinch.
"You look lovely as ever, my love," he picked the necklace on your neck and your breath hitched at his closeness and the way his fingers brushed your chest and throat, "Always a sight to behold."
"Oh, Loki," you always stammered at his compliments that he shamelessly threw at you, "you're so sweet thank you, I- I have to go now, I need to go to Pepper- I have work, yes work."
You cringed to yourself as you turned around and down the hallway, only to shriek in surprise when Loki suddenly materialized in front of you, causing you to fall… almost.
Loki caught you just before you hit the ground, with a hand around your waist and the other holding your hand and bringing you upwards to him. You didn't dare say a word.
"You know that with a beauty like yours Asgardian princesses could never compare- and for your steadiness I'm certain I could teach you Asgardian ballroom dancing- to help you, of course."
As if it couldn't get worse, your cheeks were heating up, and you were caught in his eyes before he thankfully let you go.
"I assure you I am steady and not clumsy, a person appearing in front of me would catch anyone off guard!" you laughed it off.
"I am not a person, dear, I am a god." At the intense look in his eyes you clutched your hands to your side, holding in a gasp you just nodded and went around him to try and get work done.
If Pepper noticed anything, she didn't comment on it.
As the days went on, he became bolder and bolder and you couldn't deny that you loved him courting you this way and knowing that he only has his eyes on you. On some days he was bolder, on others you took the leap to get closer to him when you noticed he was having a bad day, and sometimes he would be so gentle with you the genuine way of it made your heart soar.
It was all gentle touches and intense eyes that you still saw when you closed your eyes in the dark of the night. It was the slowest build up that made you feel like he was always there with you, whether it was in your heart or soul or body, it surrounded you in warmness you didn't know you missed.
And then he asked you out, as you showed him your favourite spot in the park. He just laughed and smiled at you and when you asked why he held your cheeks and asked you out on a date. He wanted it done properly.
So now you stood at your home in your best dress- it was green, you found it in your closet and you liked how it matched the colour of the shirt he often wore.
The doorbell rang so you looked in the mirror one more time, seeing the dress and the necklace he seemed to love. You looked around the dimly lit room and the set table and once you were sure everything was ready- you opened the door.
And there he was in all his glory, you couldn't have stopped the smile you shone at him even if you tried, he seemed to have that affect on you. You could see royalty on him, you could feel it, even when he stood there with a simple black suit.
"Hello dear," he looked you up and down, remembering another night you wore this very same dress, only you didn't wear that necklace, not yet. "You look ravishing."
"As do you, I really like this suit on you." You brushed your hand on his chest, straightening the tie. "Come on in."
Loki stepped into the room, appreciating the memories he has of all of your date nights, even those that you had before the two of you got together. He appreciated every single one of them.
Then he once again looked at you, the candles giving you a glowing aura, making you shine and his breath left him speechless.
The light reflected the chain on your neck, the one he gave you all those nights ago, that faithful night.
"Loki? What are you hiding there?" you laughed at him as you tried to circle him and see what he was clasping behind his back. Only to see green lights as he made whatever it was disappear with a smug smile on his face. "Hey that's not fair!"
He put his hands on your hips and pulled you to him as you tried, and failed, to stay stern.
"You are dating a trickster, love, you brought this on yourself." He laughed at you as a giggle escaped you before you again tried to drop the smile that gave away your true emotions. "It's your fault that you love me!"
His laugh stopped when he saw the wondering look in your eyes and he realized what he had said. Then he backed away from you.
Shaking his head, he laughed it off before putting on a smile that you knew was a cover for his true emotions. He pulled out a golden box, you had never seen something like this before. You knew he was distracting you but chose to let it go- for now, at least.
He looked at you with gleaming eyes, urging you on as you held it and opened it.
You caught your breath when you saw a golden necklace laid inside it. It was fairly simple, but it was golden and even had a glow around it. The pendant of the necklace was a simple circle that held a weird S shaped symbol on it. You looked at Loki as he took it out and held it in his hand.
"What is it, Loki?"
"That, my love, is my symbol. Two snakes circling each other, biting each other's tails, and in a way- they symbolize me."
"That is beautiful, Loki, thank you." You traced the symbol delicately- it was intricate but you could tell it was hand carved. You let him put it on you.
"This way, you will have a part of me wherever you go."
You held back tears and tuned around to face him, jumping in and hugging him close.
"You were right before, you know, I've been meaning to tell you this anyway." You pulled back only by an inch but he went and sat on the couch, so you went ahead and sat on his lap, letting his arms circle you.
"What do you mean?" he asked nervously.
"I love you."
Norns, he was so afraid to tell you back then, but now he wasn't afraid, and all he had to do was wait. He was willing to wait until you were ready, he hoped the light spells he had been casting were doing their work well, he hoped it won't be long.
You woke up in your bed, smiling at the golden daylight, you turned around and reached for the other side of the bed, happy to see Loki was still asleep.
It was rare to see him like this- peacefully sleeping. You lightly traced his face, careful with the light bruises he came home with. They were already healing but you still didn't like seeing them. You convinced Loki to let you clean them up, he argued about how he is a god, and yet he let you do it anyway.
"Good morning, beautiful." He murmured, still half sleeping, he grasped your hand in his and kissed the inside of your wrist.
"Good morning, handsome." You smiled at him. "You said I have you for the week, right?"
"I'm all yours, my dear." He pulled you closer now, "I have a few ideas on how to spend these days…"
You laughed and let him kiss you, you were just happy to have him home.
It was a few hours later that morning that you got out of bed, groaning at your sore muscles and chuckling to yourself at the smell of the burnt toast, it was only Sunday.
You put on his shirt and stepped outside to the kitchen.
"Will you ever not burn the toast?" he shrugged at the comment but didn't reply as he tried to break an egg into the pan.
"This is ridiculous." He grumbled to himself. "After all this time and I still don't get it."
"You didn't try to do this that long." You chuckled as he finally gave up and used his magic. "You have only been here with me for like half a year now."
"Right," he fixed himself, quickly coming back to you and serving you your breakfast the way he remembered you used to like.
"Thanks, Loki." You kissed his cheek as he sat next to you. "But how about you take the first bite?"
You bit your tongue to stop yourself from smirking.
"Now, darling, there is no need for that."
"Sure there is, I'll be very amused." You laughed at the look he gave you and how he tickled your side.
"I am not amused."
"You know, for an Asgardian you sound so British."
"False, English people sound like Asgardians." He pointed a fork at you before he ate from your breakfast, you joined in only after he approved of it to your surprise.
You sipped on your tea, sighing at the perfect morning you got to enjoy. That was when you realized that you are in love. In love with a god. You read books after you met him, you knew that this wouldn't last.
"How are your bruises? They seem to be healing okay, do they hurt?" you brushed away a strand of hair out of his face.
"I told you, darling-"
"I know, I know, you're an immortal Asgardian god, you can handle wounds like these." You laughed and hoped he wouldn't see through it. That was the one sentence from the book you read that haunts your brain. It made you remember a sunset, but you've never been with Loki to a sunset, maybe you should go sometime.
"Actually, Asgardian gods are just almost immortal. But I am not immortal anymore." He said, sensing your anxiety, hoping that this information will make it all okay, hoping you will realize that this will last.
"What? Why not?" you should not be delighted by the news, you should be worried of him getting hurt now.
"I decided to give up my immortality, while I still am a god and I assure you I am just as strong as I was before," he took your hand in his and looked into your eyes. "I decided that I want a better, more peaceful, life."
"But why would you-" you shook your head.
"I had my reasons." He kissed the back of your hand,
You nodded to him and looked away, a sinister kaleidoscope of butterflies of hope rose in your stomach.
Maybe some things last forever after all.
"I am both terrified and excited." You held onto Loki's arm for support, praying to any god out there that you won't mess it up and stumble.
The gown you were wearing was golden, with a dark glimmer to it, Loki was matching you in his royal suit in black, green, and gold. Loki finally took you to a ball a year into your relationship, you asked to celebrate it here and he complied
Asgard was beautiful, though you were getting a bit lightheaded from it all, it got worse when you entered the ballroom.
"I told you." Loki leaned in to whisper to you as you took in the scenery.
"What?"
"You are more beautiful than any Asgardian princesses in their best dresses." Heat rushed to your cheeks at the compliment, remembering when he so casually said it to you at the tower.
Loki remembered the night he taught you to dance, the one he finally kissed you and told you those same words.
Loki made sure to keep you away from Odin, and put an armor of magic around the two of you, hoping it would ease your headaches. And then you danced in your own little world, around and around until you got tired and Loki took you home.
Half a year later you were going to sleep, Loki was right there beside you, holding you close to him as you laid your head on his chest.
"Goodnight, my love."
"Goodnight… I love you."
"I love you too." Your lover kissed your head and then as you closed your eyes you felt the same tingles in your brain that you started to get whenever you went to sleep or even when you went to work.
Soon enough you fell asleep and your dreams took you along.
You wandered along places with Loki beside you. You were there with him on a high hill, staring at the sunset. "I'll treasure this moment forever." You heard him tell you but you didn't hear him- no, it was something else. You smiled at him and suddenly you were in your apartment, and you were smiling as he kissed you, you saw two paper airplanes flying around and he said- talked to you. "I told you my way was better." You heard yourself laughing at him and felt yourself bringing him back to a kiss. You were there with him as you ran through the trees until you stopped and climbed up, where was this again? "Come on, Loki, I now a place we won't be found." You giggled to him- no- you heard yourself giggling. Was this a dream anymore? With the growing headache this must be a nightmare. Since when do you have vivid dreams like this? Your apartment looked different as you danced around it with Loki. "I bet you'll look just as beautiful in an Asgardian dress. Like a true Asgardian goddess." But no- he couldn't have told you that there. You felt ecstatic as he leaned in to kiss you right there, it's your first kiss. No, it wasn't. You felt it all, you knew this was inevitable. Did you know that? Your head was spinning as you saw that golden necklace you found in your drawer. "It has my symbol on it, two snakes circling each other," biting each other's tails. No, you must have read it somewhere. Then you walked towards the spot in the park that you loved, at least that was familiar. "You will get a cold if you keep sitting in the rain, don't you have an umbrella?"Loki looked at you, he seems so much younger, you got shivers from his blue eyes. Your head hurt more and more, you didn't know where you were. All you felt was confusion. You saw the bifrost and there you saw the man with the golden eyes greeting you, he knew you- he knew everything. Did you know? "Do you remember?" Loki came home to you, with a fake smile which turned real when he said "I love you." He loved you. In Asgard yet again, why were you saying goodbye? "Promise you'll get me back, Loki." And then he bowed- but you already knew he was going to do that, the dream didn't have to tell you- "I'll see you around, my love." You remembered.
"I'm going to miss you, even if I won't know it." You did miss him, you missed him all along.
You waked, shot up from Loki's grip, with a hand over your mouth. You could hear the hushed whispers of memories in the silence of the bedroom; you could feel him on the way home even when you had nothing but his necklace; you could see it all now in a kaleidoscope of memories playing with the lights out. You were in love with him- you were in love with him over and over again. You never stopped loving him.
Now you saw it all: yes Loki was your lover, but before that- a lot of things happened before that, he was your best friend.
Loki woke up to the strange look on your face, rising up to be face to face with you. You paused before looking at him and he teared up at what he saw.
"You're my best friend." He saw you- his love- and now you saw him. And he knew what it was, you came back to him.
He took you in and held you close in a hug, laughing as tears ran both of your faces.
"So, 1989." He brought you in for a chaste kiss.
"What?"
"It's been 1989 days since the last time you remembered me." You chuckled.
"Took me that long?"
"It felt like an eternity." You tentatively caressed his cheek.
"Why did you give up eternity for me?" you asked him and he laughed as if it was obvious.
"The only way to survive eternity is to be able to appreciate each moment- and I couldn't do that, not without you." He pressed a kiss to the palm of your hand, "and now- now I get to spend my eternity with you."
You leaned in to kiss him once more, savoring it, you knew: You were ready to fall in love with him all over again.
You lost each other, but you found each other again, and somehow that was everything.

You must've been cursed; that must be it. Since you were a child, your heart has been cursed with softness. Yup! You're were so soft and sensitive, your little heart could never understand the concept of being cold. This was no different when it came to animals. You appreciated the existence of such pure souls in this cruel world. But then you're a child how could you understand the term or the concept of being cruel. Well, humans were the embodiment of that term, you were convinced. Convinced that a man who hit a poor donkey so harshly is cruel, a woman who shooed a starved kitten is cruel, a man who kept his dog out in the streets during cold nights is cruel, a family who abandons a disabled or an aged dog is cruel. Your poor little heart can't take it.
You remember the incident of the donkey and how his owner mistreated him; you instantly turned to your dad demanding that he must take an action and I quote "daddy, you must hit the man because he's being mean to the donkey!" Which he replied to saying "yes, dear of course; I'll do that." But as any parent would in this situation he promised you empty words, passing the terrible incident and driving away. "Why aren't you doing anything?" The baby you pouted in anger as your car moved away. "Sweetie, I promise I'll return to shout at the man for committing such a terrible act." And of course, as any child would, you trusted your dad to handle the situation.
You just couldn't grasp the mentality of these cruel people, more importantly, your mind couldn't help and create weird scenarios in your head such as: what if this kitty is lost? She must feel cold! She must feel hungry! She must be afraid! And your poor heart was the victim of these thoughts. Your Heart was soft to the point that you would literally shed tears if a cat or a dog looked at you cutely. You would coo at him/her then start crying because and I quote, again "It must feel terrible that they can't express to us how they're feeling, I mean what if he/she is trying to tell us something, but we can't understand him/her!" you'd say with tears flowing down your baby face. You couldn't even bring yourself to categorise animals under the subject "it" when talking or referring to an animal you would always address it according to its gender because you believed that they feel the same way humans feel, and they deserve to be appreciated and loved.
It didn't help that your parents were very strict about their "No pets" rule. You have always wanted to care for a soul; however, that was a big no from your parents. This led to you taking interest in every living animal that passed you by in the streets or was owned by your friends to fill this void in your heart. For instance, you will never forget that one time when you said: "hello kitty!" enthusiastically to a street cat while walking around with a friend of yours. The poor thing stood in its place stiff like a statue of a pharaonic cat as you addressed it. "Oh look, it turned to me when I said hi kitty because it knows it's a cat... Awww!" You said with the same enthusiasm to your friend who witnessed the whole thing wondering if you're sane enough to be let out in the streets or not. "Oh Lord, give me strength!" She said walking away from you. "Bye kitty!"

Today like any other day, you agreed with your fiancé, Jungkook, that you'd meet after you both finish work to have lunch together. "Same as usual?" Jungkook croaked an eyebrow as his eyes scanned the menu for the millionth time in hopes to find a new item that he might like to try, but this was an old restaurant, it never really added anything new to the menu. You hummed looking out of the window next to you. It was raining lightly and the weather was getting chilly by the minute. After placing your orders, Jungkook started telling you about his day as usual as you waited for the food to arrive. "… and Jimin-ssi broke the record today for falling out of the chair. Seriously how could he keep falling out of a chair this easily, I mean the chair was right there!" He laughed looking at you expecting you laugh as well but it seemed that your mind was elsewhere, or your eyes were elsewhere. "Jagiya, what are you looking at?" He turned his gaze to where you were staring. There, by the bus station was a shivering small black kitten that looked like it wanted to fall asleep but couldn't because of the cold. The poor thing was shivering wildly. It also looked like it was malnourished. He looked back at you to find you frowning with pouty lips and teary eyes. "Kookie!" You whined and looked at him, pleading to let you go help the kitten. He already knew what you were thinking, and he loved you for it. Your big heart that spread warmth and generosity in abundance was always something that left him in awe. "You know they won't allow me in with her!" Your puppy eyes were killing him, already. He chuckled, "you know already that it's a girl?" He was constantly shocked by how you could tell whether the animal you were talking about was a boy or a girl, and you rarely guessed wrong. "You know the deal." You chuckled standing up. You took off your scarf and went outside.
You approached the poor kitten slowly so not to startle it. "Hey, baby! You cold?" Your voice took an entirely different tone as if you were talking to a child trying to coax it. "It's okay, I am not going to hurt you." You said heart aching at the way she tried to step away from you. You wrapped her into the warm scarf, petting her to calm her down and to let her know that you didn't intend on hurting her.
Jungkook made his way to you with an umbrella and both of your food, in his other hand that he told the waiter that he would take it away instead of eating in the restaurant. His heart swelled at the view of you gently brushing your finger behind its ears. He sighed taking a seat next to you. You pulled a piece of chicken from your plate, feeding it to the kitten. "Awww, she must have been so hungry." You said as the poor thing devoured the chicken in seconds. "Where's your mummy?" You spoke to the kitten, it only meowed back at you which made your eyes teary. "What if she's lost!" You pouted looking at Jungkook. "Awww Jagiya I am sure her mum went to get her some food." He said scratching the back of his head, not really knowing what to do. He just hated to see you this sad. Your pout intensified as your head made up scenarios such as what if the kitten's mum got hit by a car? Or what if she's not returning? and so on. "We could wait a bit if you want? You know, to make sure that she's safe." He said shrugging. You smiled at him thankful that he put your heart at ease, seeing that you can't find it in you to leave the poor kitten alone. You kept on feeding the kitten as a couple of hours passed by, and yet her mum didn't show up. "Jagiya, you have nothing left to eat!" Jungkook frowned at the empty plate, noting in the back of his head to order you something else when you go home. "It's okay I am not that hungry." You said gaze and mind lost in the petite kitten that now found warmth and comfort in your lap, engulfed by your cosy scarf.
Jungkook knew that you won't eat if another being was hungry, even if you were starving. He smiled, a light bulb appeared above his head, "you know..." You reluctant tore your gaze from the kitten to look at your fiancé. " We can take it home." He smiled widely. "It's a she!" You scoffed then gasped after you realised what he was saying. "Are you... saying that we can keep it?" Your eyes widened at his suggestion. His bunny-like features lit up as he simply shrugged. You shrieked in happiness, "Kookie you're the best!" You said planting a kiss on his cheek. You apologised for the kitten afterwards for startling her, "awww, sorry baby!" You patted her.
Tumblr media
You couldn't wipe the smile off of your face as you went to the vet first thing to give her the required vaccinations, clean her up and trim her claws. "We should buy her a few toys, too!" You said lost in thought as you waited for your kitten to finish. Jungkook looking at you in awe, he couldn't help how cute you looked. "… Because you know how mum and dad feel about pets." You were babbling, turning your head towards Jungkook, missing the way he leaned in to capture your lips with his. He kissed you softly and passionately that you were lost when he pulled away. "W-what was that for?" You whispered, his forehead resting on yours as you opened your eyes slowly. "Nothing, you're just so cute I couldn't help it." He chuckled.
"Mr Jeon, Mrs L/N, your pet is all set, did you settle on a name, yet?" A nurse came out holding the kitten in a blue blanket. You grabbed her gently as Jungkook shook his head, "Nah not yet." He turned to you, "do you have anything in mind babe?" You nodded eagerly like a child, "yeah I have a few! But we need to settle on something." You looked at Jungkook who chuckled at your child-like behaviour.
Apparently, on your way to the vet you went through the internet looking for a unique name for your kitten. "I like blackie" Jungkook said eyeing the rest of the list, "I like it to, but I feel like it's racist." You pouted hating the idea of naming her "blackie" because she's black. Jungkook chuckled, "okay, how about Luna?" You hummed, then claimed that it was not unique enough.
"What about Twinkie?"
"Doesn't seem like a girl's name!"
"Babe you're the one who made this list!" He looked up from your phone to see you looking at the kitten instead. "Well, they sounded pretty when I wrote them down, but now that we're serious about keeping her, I feel like I'm picking my child's name. Kook this is a huge responsibility!" You pouted looking at him. He laughed at how you were taking this so seriously, but he understood, you have always wanted a pet, and now that you were having one it felt surreal.
"How about Selena?"
"Sounds posh for a cat!" Jungkook erupted in laughter. Oh God this was going to be fun, he thought shaking his head.
Tumblr media
"Did you get it?" You jumped in anticipation as Jungkook returned home with your kitten's gift. He chuckled, "Yup" you jumped from your seat running over to him to see it. It was a collar with her name engraved on a golden piece. "It looks beautiful!" You squealed. "Yeah, baby it does." He said kissing your forehead. There laid the name "Angel" in a neat font. You know it's not that unique but you truly felt that the name suited her perfectly. She stood there looking up at both you and Jungkook, head tilted to the side wondering what's going on. You put the collar around her neck as she kept staring at you with her baby blue eyes that made your heart melt. "I think am in love!" You whispered in awe with teary eyes, Jungkook laughed loudly, thanking God for gifting him with a precious hearted partner as you.
Tumblr media
That night you and Jungkook went to bed with Angel sleeping cosily between the two of you. "Thank you." You whispered, patting Angel's soft fur. "What for?" Jungkook looked up to you with doe eyes filled with puzzlement. "For allowing me to experience this, I mean you could have said no to taking Angel in." You whispered, refusing to think of what could have happened to her if you left her that day on the streets. "Babe, it's nothing. I don't even know why we haven't thought of it earlier, you know I don't mind pets." He said shrugging. "Still, thank you. I wanted this for so long." Jungkook looked at you with a soft gaze. He kissed your forehead, muttering a "good night", contentment filling his heart for the new addition to your little family.

Anecdote:
When my eldest was born, he got placed on my chest for about a second and then whisked away to an incubator and thence taken to another floor (don't worry, he was fine), my husband went with him, and I was just left there in a whirl of craziness thinking um I guess I'm a mother now??? A short while later, a nurse brought me a photo of my son from upstairs, and for a good few hours that photo was all I had of him while I was being taken care of. I gazed at it and tried to fathom that this mysterious creature was mine.
In the ensuing weeks, it occurred to me that I couldn't actually say where I'd put that photo. I knew I wouldn't have thrown it out, but it wasn't in the baby box, and of course after a certain amount of time has passed, your memory link to the sorts of places it might have ended up grows more and more tenuous. For two, maybe even three whole years, I had this nagging anxiety in the back of my mind that I was sure this precious photo was somewhere in the house, but I didn't know where.
Until one day I decided to re-read Pride & Prejudice (for the thousandth time), and guess what fell out of the front cover?!?!? My sweet little boy was gazing up at me with wide eyes, just a few minutes old, a faint red line around his mouth from the oxygen mask, trying to get to grips with this strange new world. And suddenly I remembered that of course, I had been reading it in the hospital, hadn't I? What better book to have with me on this strange new journey than one whose every word I know inside out, guaranteed to cause severe dreaminess at every turn?
I never did move it to the baby box. It lives tucked inside the cover of P&P, and every now and then I sneakily lift the beloved volume out of the bookcase and take a little peek at the moment that (to quote Miss Austen from a different quarter) he pierced my soul.
Suffice it to say that all your updates about P&P lately are giving me ALL the feels!
😭😭😭😭😭
This is the most beautiful story. Thank you for sharing it with me!

hii!! I reread eclipse and transit and it reminded me of you r/s who loves who more post and I have So Many Thoughts.
In reference to who loves who more: I definitely agree that Remus loved Sirius more, but I also think that (during the first war) Sirius was wayy more invested in the relationship. Here's the thing 1) Sirius spends most of the first war trying to accept the fact that he'll probably have to kill his family, and I think he feels really guilty for leaving Regulus behind; plus, he's (sort of?) losing James. Remus is honestly all he has, and I think (because of his insane abandonment issues) Sirius thinks he has to do Everything he can to keep Remus around. I also think that this is why he never confronts Remus about being the traitor, because he's really projecting what happened with Regulus onto him, and he thinks that if he loves him enough, Remus will stay for Him. It's a very "I can fix him" mentality. (sort of going off topic, I also think that this is why he goes crazy and tries to murder Peter after the whole thing, because to Sirius, that's another person he couldn't get to stick around). Sirius loves Remus, but more than that he needs Remus to love him/convince him that he's enough. 2) Anyways, moving onto Remus: yeah he loved Sirius more, but I think he was very much on edge during their relationship; waiting for Sirius to end it, ruin everything etc. I think Remus has this really complicated relationship with power (he's felt powerless for most of his life), and on some subconscious level he feels guilty/shameful for loving Sirius, because of the whole Prank thing. I don't think Remus ever really forgives Sirius for the prank (not until the second war), and that's always hanging over their relationship. This is why I think he's terrible at giving Sirius what he needs (it's like that Siken quote, "if you love me Henry, you dont love me in a way I understand"). I think he spends most of their relationship holding back because he doesnt want to give Sirius the power of knowing that he loves him.
Both of them think that they love the other person more, and both of them dont trust the other person to love them enough. Like yeah, Remus loves Sirius more but Sirius NEEDS Remus more. Like if they broke up, Remus would survive, but Sirius would go off the rails etc.
ALSO, moving onto a slightly diff topic (sorry this got long, I'd just LOVE to know what you think, tenderlupin favorite blog my beloved <3) I think that for their relationship to work, they have to break up atleast once. In any AU ever, they're insanely toxic when they initially get together and there's alot of insecurity over where they stand with each other (does that make sense?). Their relationship during the lie low at lupin's era is definitely healthier (which is saying something, considering the circumstances) and I love love love fluorescentgrey's take on it (grounded my beloved). And yeah, they keep ending up together, but it's not because theyre perfect for each other but because they literally cannot escape each other.
It's very soulmates, red string of fate etc.
- remusgirlbosslupin xoxo
hiiii oml this was such a Gift to wake up to and i basically agree with you/ think this is a very interesting interpretation of their relationship. and it’s funny you mention eclipse and transit because there has been a discussion as to why Anyone would want to read a Fic In Which One of Them Cheats.... and idk i just like things that r a little harrowing/ when remus gets to be a massive asshole.
Anyways i think you’re right in that they both have commitment/ abandonment issues, and that sirius brought a lot of his familial baggage into the relationship. a lot of his obsessive feeling towards remus stemmed from his deep and soul crushing love for him, but also this rabid need to be loved/ love others, he sort of had a hard time being alone. and we see from his relationship with tonks that remus is afraid of being loved. i don’t think that remus would handle a break up better than sirius would— like as afraid he is about being vulnerable/ letting himself be loved, he still derives so much of his happiness/ self worth from being loved (as demonstrated by how he’s described in an old photo of the order shown to harry, that he looks so so happy just to have friends/ be accepted). and yeah: i think that the war really took a toll on james and sirius’ friendship (i think james grew up faster than sirius did, and sirius sort of felt left behind)
when they first started off, they were very insecure about where they stood with each other (is it just about sex? does he actually love me? are we only doing this because of the war?). and YES they needed to have broken up at least once... and it’s heavily implied in the books that remus became very distant from the others near the end of everything, and i think that included being distant from sirius... but their relationship during the second war was a lot different/ healthier (like you said, grounded by fluorescentgrey my beloved!!!)
so yeah i don’t have much to add!!! thank you!!! that was super interesting/ big brained and brought up a lot of things i hadn’t thought abt before !!🍊💕 💌

Every morning you'd wake up and check your tumblr to have a little message in your inbox from the seemingly same anon with a cute pick-up line. At first you thought that maybe you had reblogged something along the lines of "fill my ask", but it started to become a routine. It was never anything raunchy or lewd, just cheesy, cute one-liners that'd make you smile to yourself. Though, you had really appreciate whoever was sending them to you, you were starting to get really curious. Who could they be? Someone thousands of miles away or just around your area? It was hard to decide. You sighed as you shut down your laptop and slid it under your bed. You really shouldn't have been on your laptop at such a late hour. Finals week started tomorrow and you were beyond nervous. Sure you had studied but you always felt a bit on the edge during these five days. The thought of your anonymous admirer was the last thing on your mind before you drifted off to sleep. At least, they'll keep me positive throughout the week.
But you were wrong. It had been five days. Five days your inbox had been empty. Five days since they had last messaged you and you were actually beginning to feel a bit upset. Had something happened to them? Had you reblogged or posted something that they found offensive and possibly unfollowed you for it? You let out a groan as you spread your arms across your mattress and lay flat against your back. At least finals week was finally over and you could relax. Your phone made a small noise and you reached over your dresser to check whatever the notification you had just received. You almost jumped for joy when you had saw that you got a message on tumblr. Quickly logging on from your laptop, you clicked on your inbox, though it had a similar choice in pick-up lines it wasn't your typical anon. It was... "k-name?" You voiced aloud as your face scrunched in confusion. But then it hit you. You could finally find out who your anon admirer was! Your heart raced as you clicked on the icon and revealed the mystery person's blog. There wasn't much information, just a small quote on the bio: "Forever an Iron Wall" Hmm... That sounded a bit familiar. As you racked your brain for something that could connect to the quote, you hovered over the links and found the appearance link. Jackpot. Hurriedly, you had clicked on it but it was as if your laptop sensed your urgency and wanted to fuck with you because it was loading insanely slow. "C'mon you slow piece of shit." You muttered to yourself. A few agonizingly slow moments later, the page had finally loaded and your mouth dropped as you laid eyes on him. "Mo-moniwa Kaname?!" You exclaimed. Your face nearly burst into flames as you threw yourself back onto your bed and raked your hands through your hair, shaking your head in disbelief. No way, it just couldn't be him. You were dreaming. Getting back up again you scrolled through the many photos he had posted. Most of them with his teammates and some shots of him throwing the ball up into the air.  Moniwa had been someone you admired from afar. His spirit and gentle personality is what attracted you to him, but being the shy person you were, you never approached him. You went back to your inbox and read over the pick-up line. How was heaven when you left it? And there is was again, that overwhelming feeling in the pit of your stomach whenever you saw him or were anywhere around him. How would you even begin to reply? You fingers hesitated over your keyboard before you hastily replied. Heaven is anywhere you are You slightly cringed at how cliche that sounded, but as you tried to click on the text box to undo it your mousepad had acted a bit out of sorts and pressed on the answer privately button. Oh shit. "NO!" You exclaimed, as you slapped your face and fell onto your side. What have you done?! Now you really ruined any chance you possibly had with your crush. That night it was safe to say that you didn't get much of any sleep.
- - -
Waking up you felt as if you hadn't even fallen asleep at all. Your mind was murky as you washed up, dressed and got onto your campus shuttle. As you plopped onto the seat, you let out a small groan as your threw you head back and stared up at the ceiling of the moving train. "No sleep?" The voice resonated in your ears and you took a moment before you turned to the stranger. Though your reaction was delayed, you could barely believe who was seated right next to you at that very moment. "Mo-moniwa-san?!" You near shrieked, as you stood up straight and looked at him with ample eyes. His cheeks were tinged a rosy hue as he bit back a laugh. You turned a few grouchy college student heads due to your random outburst and you sulked a bit as you felt your cheeks warm. "I-I mean, weird seeing you here..." "Really? We've been riding the same train for the past three months." He replied. Your attention now fully on him as he looked down at the floor, expression slightly saddened. Had it upset him that you never noticed him on the same train as you?  Well, of course you idiot. Who wouldn't be upset? He laughed a bit as he looked out the train window and you tilted your head to the side in confusion. "I mean, I guess that makes sense since I'm probably overshadowed by much better looking guys." He sighed and rest his palm on his chin as he wandered through his thoughts. "That's ridiculous." You said a bit too quickly. His feline like eyes shifted towards you and you gulped a bit as you continued on. The morning sunlight shone on his form, giving him a celestial glow and your lips parted in as you gawked at him in pure awe. Your mouth moving with your mind. "Heaven is anywhere with you." His breath seized as he realized what you had spoken and you clamped your mouth shut. The train had come to a stop and you grabbed your belongings and rushed through the doors. Shit. Shit. Shit.  Had you really just fucking said that?! A far but audible, "hey!" could be heard though you didn't stop. A hand on your shoulder had given you quite a fright as your whole body tensed. Damn, you thought you had outrun him... "Hey..." He breathed out. You turned around seeing Moniwa out of breath, body slumped over as he let his arms fall to his side. "Jeez you run quick."  He straightened up with one eye squinting as he looked up at you, as the sun beat down on him.  "Aren't you part of the volleyball team?" You blurted. He chuckled. "Used to be. I'm getting out of shape. But damn, this is just ridiculous..." He mumbled the last part as he felt himself starting to regain his composure. "What you said earlier though," The blood rushed to your cheeks as you felt yourself shift uncomfortably under his gaze. "Uh, u-um--you started it with the cheesy, cute pick-up lines! And then you stopped for five days and it--damn it--was surprisingly pretty hard getting through finals week without having you send a dumb one-liner. I mean, at least I had something to look forward to."  His eyebrows raised and his mouth open ready to utter a word, though he's speechless. Had he really developed that affect on you? "But--but they were so terrible I thought I--" You nervously scratched your cheek. "Well, yeah, but I really liked them. It made sense though, why you stopped. Our finals meant a lot more than just a meaningless message a day. I'll just be going now." You finalized and began to walk toward your campus, but he caught your wrist in time and you turned to meet his gaze.  "You don't mean that." He spoke. "I don't." You replied, not bothering to hide your smile. A small pause before you spoke up again. "Let's talk about it over coffee, yeah?"
A large grin now on his face as he nodded. "I'd like that."

do you think in the future hachi became the typical rich soccer mom who attends social events or did she stay in the trapnest/blast bubble?
Hello anon!
I don't like some things about Hachi and that's not a secret (that's why half of the fandom hates me), but I think we have clearly seen that future Hachi is a lot better that past Hachi. At the beginning of the story Hachi lived in a bubble and she had a distorted view of reality, especially towards the show biz: the proof is that she idolized Takumi so much until she knew him as a person and she realized he was a totally different person (in a worse way). But the more she started to get into the show biz world after marrying Takumi, the more she understood that what was shining when she looked at it from the outside, actually was dark if she looked at it on the inside. Let's just think about the whole story with the paparazzo, when she desperately tried to stop him from publishing Reira (who in the end was Ryoko) and Shin's photo. I think when Ren died she finally understood once and for all how much cruelty there was behind that world. Also, the more she knew Blast and Trapnest as person and not as artists, she understood that their coolness was just a facade and they were fragile people, even more than she was. The past Hachi would have just lived a nice housewife life, taking care of the house and the children, not working, spending the money of her rich husband. The future Hachi, as we have seen, is a woman who works a lot to gain her own money, who takes care of her children and who doesn't want to be under the spotlight anymore: she just want to be happy like every normal person wants. She wants to find her friend and doesn't care anymore about social events.
I remember a quote from Hachi, I've tried to search for it but I couldn't find it easily since it's a quote in the middle of a chapter (not one of those at the beginning or the end). By the way it was something like "At that time Blast and Trapnest were the most famous bands of all Japan and their record of albums sold still remains unbeaten. But what has been the point of all this?". I think this quote express perfectly what future hachi thinks right now: what has been the point of being the best japanese bands if now they are all sperated and unhappy with their lives?
Thank you for asking! ♥

Irresistible
Summary: Robert gets asked on an interview where or in what he finds you, his fiancé, completely irresistible.
Genre: Fluff and very slight smut.
Word Count: 1,292
A/N: This is the first oneshot I have ever written in my life. I hope it is worth reading and it does not have much mistakes. I also hope you will stick around to read my further blogs :) POLITE criticism and future oneshot ideas/requests are always welcome.
Tumblr media
"Hello to one and all, welcome to the Howard Stern Show and we're back with the ever charming and newly engaged Robert Downey Jr!" Howard announced.
"Yes, i sure am all of that; thank you very much." Robert said into the microphone attached to the headset with a wide grin. He just couldn't hold it in anymore, he absolutely had to do this interview. He couldn't wait to tell the whole world that y/n was his soon-to-be-wife. Oh he how loved saying that, that y/n would be his wife. But he knew he had to restrain himself from calling her the missus.
It was…too soon?
Well, for now fiancé would do just fine. He still had to take in the feeling that his beautiful and witty y/n had agreed to marry him.
“I cannot even begin this interview without talking about your beautiful fiancé and how the internet is going absolutely crazy about your engagement, in all the good ways obviously..” Howard said with a light laugh.
“I wouldn't want this interview to start any other way either and yeah... again me and the internet have a lot in common” Robert replied with a light chuckle of his own.
“Like...I mean.. you and y/n did have a little fling back then when you were both shooting Sherlock Holmes and everyone just thought it was just another Hollywood cover page hookup that would be forgotten, but you both actually did go the distance together. And oh! You both hid this for so long with such perfection and now we hear you both are engaged! That's absolutely crazy..” the host beamed with excitement.
“Man, I don't know about the magazines but all those lovely people on the accounts dedicated to me and her on Instagram and Twitter saw it coming” Robert replied.
He absolutely loved reading what the fan accounts had to say about him and y/n.
It was not that he depended on the public opinion to make his choices for him but often his curiosity got the best of him. He wanted to know if the people were as happy of them being together as he was.
Sometimes, if he found one or two good posts, he would often recite them to her.
“Hey y/n” he lightly shouted facing the kitchen while he tried to hold in his laughter.
Y/n peeked her head out of the door “Downey I can cook but you just won’t let me, right? Just trust me on this one, I wouldn’t burn the house down. I mean, i’ll try not to, but that was one time. Second time’s the charm.”
“I did not, for even once doubt your culinary skills sweetheart” he replied with a smirk, “but just come here for one second and see what..” he glanced at the username and this time couldn’t hold in his laugh anymore “...@roberty/nswhore has to say”
Y/n strutted over to the couch, wiping her hands on the way to where Robert was, laughing lightly and then proceeded to take a seat on his lap.
“What?” she asked, now really interested.
He showed her a picture of them at the premiere of Sherlock Holmes that the account had posted. “She says and I quote ‘My mutherfuckin’ parents, just look at how good and powerful they look together. My bi brain is quaking sksksk..”
They both laughed in unison. Y/n didn’t miss the opportunity to plant a quick kiss on his lips and said, “You ever wondered that if they knew you stalked their profiles, would they post more of this stuff or less?”
He double tapped the post and said, “I have absolutely no idea darling.”
Howard laughed and spoke into the mic, “I may have seen one or two of them and let me just say they got what they deserved. You and y/n have one of the most loyal and supportive fan bases”
“Yes we do and I could never be more thankful of the people who don’t forget to remind me that I am still the best and me and y/n make the hottest couple in the entirety of the universe”
“No doubts there. You both do make one of the most hottest couples in Hollywod-“
“-in the universe I said Howard, don’t twist the facts” Robert interrupted with the classic Downey grin.
“I must apologise, you both do make one of the hottest couples in the universe. Right, that sounds way better. So as I was saying, you and y/n are probably the most beautiful people I have ever interviewed. You both get people hot and bothered whenever one of your photos gets out. I just wanted to ask what is something that Y/n does or wear that gets you hot and bothered? And let me just add that I am not taking ‘she’s sexy in everything she does’ as an answer”, he asked with a hint of mischief in his eyes.
“I was just going to say that but…oh god everything she does is actually very sexy. Um..okay. I think I can answer this without getting flustered”
He could not, he knew that.
“Let’s see, I think she’s very sexy when she’s with my girls; Miss Brain and Fuzzy especially. Y/n absolutely loves them and they lover her back. And when she gets competitive. Yeah she’s very competitive, like when she’s playing some sport or a video game or when she had a fight seen with me in Sherlock Holmes. When she gets in the mood of winning and she gets in control, it’s a sight worth watching.” Robert said with a hint of red on his cheeks.
“This is so hot” Robert said as he was straddled by Y/n on top of him, holding his wrists above his head.
“CUT!” Ritchie said from the director’s chair, clearly annoyed and amused simultaneously by the two secret lovers.
“Just try to keep it in your pants Downey. How many more retakes do want?” Y/n asked. They still had not moved from their rather interesting position despite the director yelling cut.
“Just enough of them so that you can feel it through my pants”
“If you don’t shut that witty mouth of yours up and let us get home early, I swear to god I will…” Y/n trailed off.
“You will…?” Robert teasingly asked, not forgetting to slightly roll his hips against hers as she sat right over his crotch. Oh, she could do as many things to him as she wanted for however long she wanted and he would happily comply. He loved teasing her; it brought a side of hers that he found absolutely erotic.
“I will tie you up on this bed, absolutely naked with nothing but a pillow covering ‘it’. And I will make sure it gets into the film as well” Y/n replied with narrowed eyes and a smirk plastered over her lips.
“I’d love to see you try, honey”
“I already said cut! Please move and get a room you two.” Ritchie shouted again.
“I love her in anything she wears or does. I think it’s like she has become my habit, you know? She would wake up in the morning with bed hair but I’d still call her beautiful, because she is. And she becomes even more beautiful the next morning I wake up by her side. She’s the most beautiful and intelligent woman I have ever met, and I am even more grateful that she’ll, one day that is not far away, be my missus.” He couldn’t help but smile the widest he had ever. Every single word that he had spoken was true to its core. He had never been this thankful to anyone in his life. He just hoped that y/n felt the same.
And she did.

Tumblr media
You had just gotten your dad back and now you had lost him again, this time forever. You were sitting in the couch about to watch what you had been told to be a message from him. Peter's arm rested securely around your waist, he had been your biggest support in this incredibly hard time and you couldn't be more grateful to have him by your side, but you were sure you would have to eventually leave his protective embrace at a certain point not to disturb the ceremony with your recked sobs. People were gathering around in the living room waiting for the recording to begin and so when everyone was settled in Rhodey asked friday to play the message.
Your dad came up in a hologram and tears started to well up in your eyes right away, he started talking about the past years, about how he wished you were playing the video in celebration and how much the universe he had imagined just a decade ago truly had grown. Once that part of the video was over he stopped for a few seconds only to start again with a sadder tone that made your heart break all over again if that was even possible.
"Y/n, honey, in case i'm not there to tell you this personally, you mean everything to me. I'm so proud of the strong beautiful woman you have become and i want you to know that there hasn't been one single day in these past five years where i haven't thought about you and tried everything in my power to bring you back. I just hope i succeeded this time around. And if i did then i need you to know that there's something for you in your new bedroom, somewhere only we know. You should only read it when you feel ready so please don't rush yourself, I know you've probably got a lot on your mind right now. I love you more than anything sweetheart, and i can't wait to see you again."
You were sobbing by now, you missed your father more than anything and you were just so mad! You barely got to be with him again until he sacrificed himself to save you along with everyone else. And nat. She was like an aunt to you. You hadn't seen her in so many fucking years and now she was gone too and you didn't even get a chance to say goodbye. It wasn't fair!
After Tony's hologram said his goodbyes you took off to your room, wanting only to find your dad's "surprise".
Peter was wondering what he should do. If he should keep you company through the whole ceremony or if he should give you some space. He ended up deciding on the later but you were taking so long in your room and he was getting worried so he eventually decided to go check on you. When he arrived his heart broke. You were on your knees holding something in your hands, staring at it while tears streamed down your face.
"Did you find it, love?" he asked you softly not meaning to scare you.
"It's a book. He filled it with photos of us, his favorite quotes and songs he loved, letters he wrote when he missed me most while we were gone those 5 years and so many other things, Peter. He- he really hoped that he would get to hand me the book himself, that he would get to show me my new room he organized so carefully and explain where each little thing is placed, that we would get to have long summer picnics together by the lake, that we would be a whole family again." You muttered through tears.
"I'm so sorry, sweetheart."
"I shouldn't have opened it" you told him. "I shouldn't have opened it cause reading this means that it's over. It means that he's gone for good, that i've lost him forever, and i don't wanna live in a world without him Peter. I can't." you were full on crying now.
"Y/n, love, he is gone and he isn't coming back, sweetheart. You know that."
"No, he can't leave me, Peter, I can't do this without him. I lost everything and he's not here to help me adjust. And how am i supposed to live in this place now? One i have no memories of my father in? Peter i don't know this room, i don't know this house! God i don't even know the little girl downstairs that keeps asking me why i'm so fucking sad!" you hadn't realized how hard you were sobbing until now just like you hadn't noticed Peter had taken a seat next to you and was now holding you in his arms. You were shaking so violently and it was getting so hard to breathe and you could only hope that you would die right there and finally be with your dad again.
"Shhh baby, it's okay, you're gonna be okay." Peter shushed you while stroking your hair.
"I miss him so much" you muttered, a fresh round of tears streaming down your face again.
"I know, love, I do too" His voice breaks, but he knows he has to be strong for you so he fights back his own tears the best he can. "But he wouldn't want you to be sad forever. He would want you to live your life for him, to be okay, to be happy. And i promise you'll feel that way again okay pretty girl?"
You two stayed that way for a good amount of time but you eventually got up and went downstairs to finish the ceremony. After the funeral, Happy came to sit by your side, he was like an uncle to you so you took no time into resting your head on his shoulder. He looked down to see you leaning on him, you looked like your 7 year old self again, cuddled up next to him wondering why your dad wasn't home just like you had done when Tony was kidnapped back in 2008.
"You hungry?" he asked softly and you nodded. You hadn't really eaten anything in the last few days (or in the past five years for that matter). "What do you wannna eat, honey?"
A sniffle left your body as you answered sadly. "A cheeseburger".
"I'm going to get you all the cheeseburgers you want."
