The character of emptiness, at least for a Christian contemplative, is pure love, pure freedom. Love that is free of everything, not determined by any thing, or held down by any special relationship. It is love for love's sake. It is a sharing, through the Holy Spirit, in the infinite charity of God. And so when Jesus told his disciples to love, he told them to love as universally as the Father who sends his rain alike on the just and the unjust. "Be ye perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect." This purity, freedom and indeterminateness of love is the very essence of Christianity.
—Thomas Merton, Contemplative Prayer, p.73

Ram Dass eloquently conveyed that as we open our hearts in the process of connecting with someone, a profound devotional love emerges. Because when you are with somebody who you open to, and you suddenly experience the intensity and immensity of the love of the universe, you just are so open and so appreciative.

Why can't I fall in love with a stranger, how transient that moment may be? Do we not fall in love with the passing seasons that never stays, and with those passing clouds giving us momentary shades from a scorching sun, but then after a heavy rain doesn't the sunlight once again becomes the most dearest of all? Love is the most transient feeling on earth. Put not unwanted and unnecessary restraints on it. When she comes, welcome her and when she leaves, bid her a fair farewell. Love will continue to come in all its varying shapes and forms. It is not for the earth to dance only when it is spring. In autumn too there's harmony when the leaves fall to the ground. Love is too vast to be given a single shape or form or definition. Something that's within the essence cannot be made limited...

i sat down on a field at night and the stars were beautiful and i looked up and just above me was a constellation that looked like a smiling face and i smiled back at it and i can't really explain how it felt but it healed a part of me

Universal Love
In the vastness of the universe, there lies
A love so pure, so boundless, so wise
A love that transcends time and space
With each beat of the heart, it leaves its trace
For endless eons, this love has existed
In every corner, it has persisted
It knows no boundaries, no limits, no end
For it is universal, it has no trend
It is the love that ignites the stars
The force that binds galaxies, it is ours
It flows through the rivers, it roars in the seas
In every living thing, it resides with ease
It is the voice that whispers in the wind
The spark that ignites a flame within
It is the reason we smile, we laugh, we cry
It is the essence of life, it makes us high
This love knows no race, no religion, no creed
It sees no color, it has no need
For it is the ultimate, the purest form
Universal love, it will always adorn
It is the love that conquers hate
And teaches us to celebrate
Our differences, our flaws, our imperfections
For in this love, we find our deepest connections
From the depths of the ocean to the peaks of the sky
This love knows no boundaries, it will never die
It is the force that keeps the world in motion
The source of all creation, the ocean of emotion
It is the epic tale of humanity
The journey of love, our destiny
For in this universe so vast and unknown
Universal love is the only thing that's truly known
So let us embrace this love with all our might
And spread its message, with every flight
For in its presence, we find our true purpose
To love and be loved, is the ultimate service.

"While there are over 300 references in the Koran to Allah and fear, there are only 49 references to love. Of these love references, 39 are negative such as the 14 negative references to love of money, power, other gods and status.
Three verses command humanity to love Allah and 2 verses are about how Allah loves a believer. There are 25 verses about how Allah does not love kafirs (unbelievers).
This leaves 5 verses about love. Of these 5, 3 are about loving kin or a Muslim brother. One verse commands a Muslim to give for the love of Allah. This leaves only one quasi-universal verse about love: give what you love to charity and even this is contaminated by dualism since Muslim charity only goes to other Muslims."

Why do people assume the universe loves us?
Just because your parents made you, doesn’t mean that they actually love you. I know that from experience.
Joking aside, how can an entity that actively gives babies malaria and allows unspeakable evils to exist on Earth and is planning for the sun to explode in billions of years so the universe can destroy itself with it can somehow ‘love’ us? Also, black holes exist too.
I think that the universe is rather apathetic, not filled with hatred or love. It just doesn’t care. It creates and destroys, it takes and gives but it does so without any feelings. It doesn’t bend the rules for anyone. Just because spirituality says that ‘’love is the highest thing in existence’’ doesn’t mean it’s true.
I don’t even know how ‘love’ is the highest thing in existence.  What does it do? What does it look like? And why does the universe somehow have so much of it laying around?
Examples with cryptic answers like ‘’I know the universe loves me because I can hear it in the wind and in bird song.’’ doesn’t count. Good stuff happening to you like gaining prosperity because you did magic doesn’t count either, because there are still people suffering in the world that never have their grievances relieved until the day they die.
