Real event (And real sayings I've seen online and been told)
(Under the cut is a note about the comic and a picture of the best dog <3)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've attributed this event as a sign of God's unconditional love towards my transidentity for two reasons: the fact that this happened after I've been told horrendous insults online, and the fact that it's Willie, my parents' oldest dog, that conforted to me.
Willie is an old, grumpy, cranky Papillon dog who's basically a cat with an unshakable loyalty to my mother. He sits on her like cats, he prepares his bed (my mother's) like one, he meows at her at any given inconvenience... He never leaves my mother's side either, she's his chosen human. That evening, he was watching TV with my mother, as he does everyday at 18h00. That moment is sacred to him, he doesn't bulge even with treats, promises of walks, whining from the other animals... He only moves if my mother dictates so.
And yet, he came to me. Specifically. In the middle of the episode. He was half-asleep before then... And he came to me... no, He came to me, to comfort me in time of need. And chose specifically the animal in the house that is the most on the fence between expected roles of dogs and cats. An unconventional dog to comfort an unconventional man.
My Lord, your unconditional love is the ramp I use to get up and reach to your divine light 💙🩷🩵🙏🌟
Bonus: the dog-cat in question <3

moment of appreciation for all religious LGBTQ+ people right now; Jewish, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, or anything else. It’s okay if you’re still figuring out what your identity means to you, or how it intersects with your religious beliefs. You are valid and loved <333

Love people even in their sin, for that is the semblance of Divine Love and is the highest love on earth. Love all of God's creation, the whole and every grain of sand of it. Love every leaf, every ray of God's light. Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.

I just saw someone describe Julien Baker’s voice as something that “could make them believe in God” and genuinely genuinely I’ve never heard a better way of expressing how her music makes me feel.

apparently anti-theists just think Progressive Christians (including LGBTQ+ Christians and those who are actively fighting for marginalized groups) are "Christofacist lite" or "a cover for fundamentalism/facism."
like no matter how actively they affirm and fight for the rights of marginalized groups from all walks of life and belief systems, and even if they don't take the Bible as the perfect inspired word of God themselves, they're still considered literally evil simply for the act of believing in a God.
i honestly don't know what to say.
i get that these comments are coming from a place of personal hurt or righteous anger at bigoted religious institutions, but...

you know, I really think churches have failed us in so many ways. (I am a Christian specifically talking about modern Christian churches.)
you should be able to go to church with self harm scars, with needle marks, with bandages, with obvious marks of a body you’re fighting against. you should be able to go to church unshowered and obviously struggling and not face judgement or scrutiny. you should be able to go to a church if you are homeless or in a abusive relationship, suffering from domestic abuse, struggling with addiction, etc and be able to be connected to programs and support. you should able to go to a church regardless of your gender/sexuality. you should be able to go with your girlfriend or your boyfriend or your partner or whoever you love. you should be able to be yourself in a space dedicated to a God who loves you. You should be able to get receive support for a place meant to be a haven. you should not face judgement in a place dedicated to a God who does not turn anyone away.
churches are not meant to be places to run from. churches are not meant to be places of trauma, of abuse, of a facade of expectations.

A Message to Queer People Hurt by the Church.
I don't know if I am in a place to do this, however I would like to apologise on behalf of Christians everywhere for our treatment, present and past, of the LGBTQ+ community.
I have faced homophobic discrimination at the hands of my churches under various justifications. None of it was okay. None of it will ever be okay.
Homophobia is hate. Transphobia is hate.
Jesus taught love. Jesus teaches love.
Love is love. Love comes in many forms. If you cannot see that, and choose to hate on those for whom they love, while still saying you're Christian, kindly, get your head out of your crusty asshole and read the bible.
LGBTQ+ Christians; I see you, I love you, and I am praying for you. Jesus loves you. God, in all their beautiful forms, loves you. You were made in God's image. You do not need to change for anyone.
Nga mihi

A morning prayer that was shared on r/Episcopalian which I loved, from the Book of Common Prayer (1979). It's from the Ministration to the Sick (under "Prayers for use by a Sick Person"), but I hope it'll be helpful for anyone facing a difficult day. I prayed it this morning; I'll certainly need it often.
This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen.
—The Book of Common Prayer (1979), p.461.

I'm starting to drift towards she/her even though I like they/them in fear the others are right, and I'm worried I'm twisting scripture by explaining each gay verse :( do you have any reassurance or place I can start to feel the conservatives aren't right?
I don't know your gender identity, but since you want to use they/them pronouns and are worried about scripture being against LGBTQ+ identities, I really recommend a book called "Transforming: The Bible and the Lives of Transgender Christians" by Austen Hartke. It lays the groundwork for a trans affirming Christian theology and backs itself up with scripture throughout, and also includes experiences of a wide range of trans and gender minority Christians.
