It was just an ordinary day for Mc… Well, that is if you could call simping for fictional characters from a story-based gacha game ordinary. Okay, maybe they're a liiiiiiittle bonkers in the head, but we still love 'em 😋.

Anyways, now we were makin' our way [downtown] through the Big Ass House of Lamentation, BAHoL for short, trying to get to wherever tf Mammon has plans for. Well, that is until we run into a certain someone.

"Yooo, Levi! Funny seein' ya outside ya room for once." Both Mammon and I then proceed to start gigglin' like two lil bitches lmao.

It takes him a couple seconds for the matter inside his cranium to process whatever tf just came out my mouth.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever! We've gotta get goin' now. See ya later, Levi!" Mammon cuts off the ENTIRE interaction quicker than it even started before dragging me away like a fucking rag doll.

What the plans are?? I still haven't the slightest of darn clues, buT I GUESS WE'LL FIND OUT 🗣.

Lmao, in the 'Shisui went back in time but didn't join one of the clans' scenario, I can just imagine Shisui zipping in every time there's a scuffle or major fight and just taking away everyone's weapons. You can get them back once you've learned to learn to get along or, barring that, simply agree to go home. What are they gonna do, stop him? Not if they can't catch him. Sucks to suck, guys, either stop fighting or get good.

Also, you know for quite some time I was trying to figure out how Eye of the Beholder was gonna go anywhere if the Uchiha elders were basically forcing his compliance, and then you mentioned in one of these that, oh yeah, saving them was more important to Shisui than them liking or accepting him. Peace and saving his Clan were worth brainwashing every one of his family members in his own time, so even if he didn't like it, doing it here would be even less of an ethical dilemma for him. Like obviously he's gonna try other things first, but he does always have that as a fallback. Of course this is all complicated by Obito, but Shisui's not just gonna roll over and let them boss him around if it gets in the way of peace.

Hey!

This could be such a serious fic, so much panicking and isolation and drama and angst... But the opportunity for *insert Scooby Doo chase scene music* nonsense is just too good to pass by! Shisui dashes between the fighting parties and uses Susanoo to just yeet them back into their respective compounds lmao, or he snares them all in genjutsu and make them run away from each other (the Uchiha are so miffed to be caught in their own tricks, the Senju are horrified, Tobirama's sensing pride is taking a battering 🤭)

On a more serious note... Shisui definitely doesn't care if people hate him so long as they're alive to do so. This makes him a right pair with Tobirama especially, who will literally fuck around with life-death and make Zombies just on the fools hope that he can bring his brothers back....dodgy, dodgy, dodgy....

It really makes Shisui's whole shtick of "a hero working in the shadows" all the more gut-wrenching

Hey I had a question about the great teet yeet-how long did it take to heal? Well, two questions: also how bad did it hurt lol. I'm trying to get an idea of what to expect when my day finally comes, someday soon if I get what I want for a change.

Honestly I felt like I healed pretty fast. Like there are still a few places where my scars are still dark a year later, but I got my drains out in a week I think, and was out of bandages and able to be active in 4 or 5.

As far as pain? I won't lie, it was miserable for the first week. But worth it? Absolutely. There are a few things you can do to help yourself be more comfortable. 1. Wedge pillows. I bought some nice ones on Amazon that came with an adjustable wedge to prop me up as well as a triangle pillow to prop my legs in a bent position. I'm a side sleeper usually, so this helped a lot as I lived and slept on the couch for a few weeks! Since it was adjustable I could recline more during sleep and prop it up into a seated position when I was awake. Highly recommend. 2. A mastectomy pillow. It looks like a Tetris T block shape, and is meant for you to hug with the longer part tucked under your arms. This thing was invaluable. I used it in the car on my way home after surgery to protect me from the seat belt, I slept with it, even walked around with it for the first week just to hold gentle pressure and stabilize myself. Mine even had a pocket for TV remote and such. 3. Mastectomy shirts. These have snap buttons down the front and I can't stress enough how important that was, as you're not going to have the mobility to get in and out of normal shirts, nor will you have the dexterity for normal buttons. But the real value is the internal pockets sewn in the sides for your drains (which to me are the WORST part of the healing process). They kept the hoses out of the way in their own little loop clasps and the pockets were high enough to keep the bulbs from tugging at the stitching. My surgeon saw my shirt when I came in for surgery and said that was the smartest thing he'd ever seen. I bought two so I could always have a clean one and lived in them even a week or two after my drains came out. 4. Cleaning wipes. You can't shower or bathe for a while and that didn't sit well with me. I managed to find these sheets that are meant for camping that have a gentle non-scented soap in them that activates when wet; and most importantly, you don't have to rinse it. Just scrub your important bits and towel off. I still needed a helper (luckily I was living with a very good friend at the time) but it meant so much to at least be clean when I already wasn't feeling great.

I apologize for writing a novel lmao but I really hope this helps. And if you have questions or need help finding this stuff let me know!

I played the archon quest...

It was played out so well AND I TEARED UP SO MANY TIMES IN THE START ITSELF WHAT DO YOU MEAN CASUALTIES ON POSSOIN WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT MELUSE AND SILVER—

I was rather delusional, "they would let anything happen to the people of Fontaine, even Furina should be alright", they all weren't alright and even furina suffered so much

I gasped so many times ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT CUTSCENE WHERE THE MAGIC BOX OPENS AND WERE ON THE STAGE OF THE OPERA OMG AND THE WHOLE TRIAL

When the traveller spoke and revealed that they were all here to prove that furina was in fact not the hydro archon I was so shocked (not that I didn't expect that furina wasn't the archon but because I didn't expect them to so openly charge her in court like they did)

And the whole narwhal breaks into the opera house and the following cutscene, Childe literally fell back into that... portal??? and like no one was worried about him lmao (childe got sent to prison and then he broke out, tried to contain the narwhal and protected the people of Fontaine from becoming fodder... if I must say the grudges I held against him for stirring up trouble in Liyue has vanished....)

And the the Focalors and Neuvillette convo and the cutscene I WAS SO CLOSE TO SOBBING MY EYES OUT AND FOCALORS SAYING "HYDRO DRAGON HYDRO DRAGON DON'T CRY" sob sob why is hoyo making everyone sad

And the narwhal was so cool ngl the animations and all!! And... I struggle with that phase 2 thing because I don't have fontaine characters aside from lynette and freminet and was like wdym use pneuma and ousia and I was just standing there letting the humanoid boss doing his thing while well not actually doing anything because Zhongli's shield but then yeah I actually managed to read the info text thing instead of blanking out lmao

AND THEN SKIRK WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT NARWHAL IS A PET???????????? THIS FOWL GUY IS INSANE FOR HIS CHOICE OF PETS LIKE EXCUSE ME?? IT NEARLY WRECKED A NATION????

And furina crying on her throne was actually so sad but even sadder once you actually understand all that she has been through... I really want to play her story quest immediately

And this third descender.... I need more lore...

And now that Fontaine's archon quest ended, I am excited for when dain will appear and then Natland please give us more info about that nation we haven't even seen an npc from there.... but Neuvillette saying that there's dragons over there like hohoho more dragons? I'm up for it!

AND YES THE WHOLE CHILDE PART HAD ME JUMPING AND GASPING AND HUH-ING SO BAD KDSHFS AND WHEN SKIRK JUST YEETED HIM AWAY WITH THE NARWHAL WHEN WE MET HER 😭🤚

THE NEUVILLETTE FOCALORS MOMENT.... THE FURINA MONOLOGUE AND ALL THE SCENES SHE HAD TO GO THROUGH FROM 500 YEARS AGO TO THE PRESENT.... FURINA CRYING ON HER OWN AND ASKING HERSELF WHEN WILL IT ALL BE OVER..... THE FOCALORS CUTSCENE AND DANCE AND THE OST CHANGING AND THEN NEUVILLETTE REGAINING HIS AUTHORITY AND DECLARING THE PEOPLE OF FONTAINE AS NOT GUILTY....... UGLY SOBBING I HAD TO SIT THERE STARING AT NOTHING FOR A GOOD 10-20 MINUTES AFTER THE CUTSCENE WAS OVER BC THE TEARS WOULD NOT STOP SOBBING AND I WAS NOT OKAY

what's a story premise you've had lurking in your head but haven't done anything with yet?

BROO Houses With Teeth has lived rent free in my mind for FOUR YEARS and I still haven't done anything with it! I was actually hoping to start it back in January but hadn't finished Seventh Virtue, but now I've pivoted to Body Back! Houses With Teeth is adult literary fiction.

Moth Work ended up distracting me from it way back in 2019, and when I finished that in 2020, I was supposed to write HWT, but it scared me so much that I wrote Feeding Habits instead LMAO and that book took me two years to finish! And I was working on SV at that same time too, so it's just been pushed and pushed and pushed.

In a way, it's a good thing, because that project has had HUGE development as I've changed as a writer. Originally, it was supposed to be the *canon* seventh book of the Fostered series, which would've been so weird. Reeve lived in NYC with her boyfriend because she ends up yeeting from the OG squad at the end of book six. Lonan who's been looking for her (since they're siblings) ends up calling to fill an ad to be their roommate. His plan is to bring Harrison too, and there's this dialogue I had planned LMAO:

R: What about Harrison? L: He’s coming too. R: It’s an ad for a couch, Lonan. you can’t both stay on our couch.

oh yes they can ;)

Anyway, so I ended up getting distracted with MW, so by the time I revisited the project, I needed to replot it because I didn't really want Lonan & Harrison involved (LOL). I think Reeve had believed her apartment was haunted at one point and a big plot was her trying to rid it of a ghost with help from Foster who was apparently a ghostbuster (but make it literary)?

That then changed in 2020 when I decided Reeve would NOT be living in the NYC apartment, but in a house with Foster outside the city. When she moves to that town, she learns she looks a lot like a whole bunch of girls who've gone missing in the area. That THEN changed into still having the Foster house plot, but I added a sinkhole that ate Foster's friend the day Reeve moves in (so the town then is sus of her). I wrote the first 2k or so of that version, and there's a segment where the whollle squad that's now in SV (so Harrison & Lonan & Darren) all go to this town for Foster's friend's funeral. I stopped writing when I hit this point because mingling the "literary" book with the "genre" book wasn't working. Very uncomfy.

At that point I just quit the project LOL. It was only in 2022 that I revisited the project and really chilled out with it. I was used to appropriating bits of the Fostered-verse and not sticking to canon, so that idea of deleting Lonan & Harrison from HWT, for example, really didn't bother me (byyeeee). Also, most importantly, I'd started to explore the central relationship between Reeve and Joel (her boyfriend) in lots of Seventh Virtue scenes. I was even writing scenes I'd planned for the very first iteration of HWT into SV (one of those scenes has even turned into a new short story called "Holiday").

So the new plan is the old plan: I went back to the *very* original idea where Reeve lives in an apartment with her boyfriend in NYC. THAT is the story that always interested me and that I've been dying to tell. In the fictive present, Reeve isn't at the apartment, but will spend a lot of time there in flashbacks. It's really going to be a quiet novel about Reeve after she flees an abusive relationship & tries to dispose of the persona she's become. I want to write it in vignettes without any names (so just "She" and "He"), which I managed in "Holiday."

At this point, I have no idea when this book will be written LOL since it just doesn't seem to want to be written! Or maybe I've just been avoiding it for four years & in that span have written 300k+ of other Fostered content, LMAO.

So I've done a lot with this idea technically, but it hasn't panned out much! I think I've written the first 2k of the *actual* book (finally), which I'm really happy with! I'm happy it actually ended up being a roundabout goose chase to this final (original) idea. I needed to write MW and FH in between because then I wouldn't have SV which actually let me explore this relationship relatively safely. Everything happens for a reason!

Do you write in order?

LMAO NO. Very occasionally I'll sit down and bang out a story from start to finish in order, but it's a very, very rare occurrence. Most often I write completely out of order, by means of "thought of a scene, wrote it down, yeeted it somewhere in a loose approximation of where it might go in the non-existent outline." Actual proper outlining only happens once something gets over like, 20K. Small fics will sometimes get a very loose outline but it's usually just 3-5 bullet points.

Heck, even single scenes that get too long (looking at you smut scenes) get written out of order sometimes. My brain does not like doing things linearly so I just let it do as it pleases lol.

How fully formed does your writing come out the first try?

Ehh, it really depends on what I'm writing? I'd say decently fully formed, especially for prompts and single scenes, but every now and then I'll write something that's just chock-full of "come back to this" or "edit this" notes. I'm a very big believer in "write anything down to get over the block" and usually it works.

How many drafts do you go through?

For most things, two-three, although I don't really think of them in terms of drafts. I write a thing, then I edit. Usually read through and edit a second time as well, especially because my editing process usually adds a lot (anywhere from 1-10K to a fic, depending on how long it is and how many scenes I've forgotten to write lmao).

With much longer fics (like my two 90K WIPs), it's not really set in stone 'first draft second draft' etc, but things change and get shifted around a whole lot before it's done. I'm not a concrete plotter, which tends to mean things shift a lot.

Tell me about your process.

I get a stupid idea, I write a scene for it, and then it spirals out of control XD

But actually, that's pretty accurate. I have many many fics that came out of a single prompt scene and then grew to anywhere from 10 to 90 thousand words. I adore prompts, and they give me so many ideas and I want to write all of them. I am also Full of Feelings, so I tend to get a lot of emotions and ideas about sad plot points and then I want to write them.

I write a lot of scenes around people doing mundane things, and if I'm stuck, I always start with dialogue. Dialogue is my fav and comes easily most of the time.

In terms of technical settings (stole this because it's fun): Microsoft Word for me in terms of actual writing programs! I use Google Docs for collaboration, but it's not my fav. Also I'm a gremlin and VERY FREQUENTLY write directly into a discord channel (on my phone or laptop) so that I can inflict the WIP snippet onto my pals. Thank u pals who let me do this, I love u

Lucifer - Seems fine on the outside but on the inside, he’s trying his best to not kill that person on spot because it would cause a huge chaos. So instead, he decided to give the person death glares till they got the hint and leave in one whole piece if he thinks they deserve his merciness. But if they’re intentionally ignoring his threats warnings, he will take matters into his own hands. (might not come back out in one whole piece <3) Would not hesitate to demolish them right where they are, if they are acting inappropriately towards you.

Mammon - Ah yes your lil tsundere puppy is here to save the day. He only barks but he doesn’t bite. He’ll make up excuses for you to leave with him like “Come on mc, help me with my homework, I don’t understand it” or “How about leaving that loser and coming with me instead yea?” or “I’ll get your favorite snack, just leave them”. Would literally get offended if you insist on staying with whoever you’re with. He’d go like “HUHHHH? Why stay with them when you have The Great Mammon to accompany you??” Oh yea if you tease him about it, he would deny it to his grave. “You should grateful that The Great Mammon is with you human >:0″ and “JEALOUS?! Leviathan - Well...he is the Avatar Of Envy afterall, soooo I hope you’re expecting someone to go missing that day. Defo went back to his room as if nothing had happened. He even tried to persuade you to study from home, which didn’t really work since Lucifer literally dragged you back to school. But guess what? He actually forced himself to GO TO SCHOOL just so he can keep a close eye on you. (just in case, a normie tries to flirt with you like last time, you were a bit too oblivious to their flirts so you thought they were just being friendly.) “Hey mc check out this new game/anime I found” “You should go watch it with me instead” “Come by my room, I’ve just received my new akuzon delivery”.

Satan - Yea no, trying to bottle up his anger ended up in him exploding from rage. Oh he’s not even shameful that he decided to straight went feral on that student who just flirted with you just a moment ago. Manz was proud too. 🕺 Guess you have a new scary dog privilege now. The fact that he got into detention and meet Lucifer is hilarious tho. Lucifer sighed and gave him a 2 hour lecture back home, which should’ve been 5 hours at first but he changed his mind since it’s for you. Lucifer thinks it’s not as bad as the pranks Satan pulled on him, so 2 hours should be enough. Satan on the other hand was completely ignorant of Lucifer’s lecture, all the words went form one ear and out the other.

Asmodeus - Some basic and not so fabulous, and also not to mention low ranking demon trying to date you? Please don’t make him laugh, he’s literally the Avatar Of Lust himself. They should be aware that he’s YOURS and you’re HIS and ONLY his. “Awe and what do we have here? Ahahaha YOU, with mc?” “Oh that’s just funny, no way you’d be suit for mc.” “Hmm isn’t it quite obvious that me and mc are together already?” He kept on that “Imma end this man’s whole career” smile while talking to the shaking demon who was this close 🤏 to shitting their pants.

Beelzebub - Okay so this precious giant teddy bear doesn’t really mind people being clingy or a bit flirty with you, he’s a uhhh little oblivious that’s all. But if they ever cross the line, he won’t hesitate to yeet their ass. Actually all he has to do is walk up to them and they’d be bolting away, no one wants to mess with 6′4 foot tall muscular giant. (He’s so sweet tho ~(TヘT)~) Just his appearance alone is enough to scare them all away lmao.

Belphagor - Since he doesn’t really get out that much, he’s not involved in those scenarios but there’s this one time when he went to the human world and some creep was staring at you. Ooooooh boy he went all out. And return back to napping on your lap as if he didn’t just beat the crap out of a person (for a good reason tho). Mc = Is that blood on your face Belphie? Belphie = Mhm what do you mean? No it’s not. Mc = What is it then? Belphie = Ketchup.

BONUS:

Solomon - Being the powerful sorcerer he is, he cursed their asses lmao. Made them do embarrassing things everytime they meet you. While he be having the time of his life enjoying them humiliate themselves right in front of you. For example: Slipping and falling flat on their faces while you stood there grabbing your books and staring at them like 👁️👄👁️💧. 2nd example: Walking to school and waving at you when they oh so unfortunately stepped on some caca. 3rd example: They always seem to fart out of nowhere when you’re with them. 4th example: Ripped pants and walking around R.A.D with their spiderman boxers.

my proposal for tropes we as a fandom should adopt in all fanworks going forward: Duke Thomas edition

So every fandom has tropes and characterization quirks that have been generally accepted into fanon and, like, maybe? they were originally based on some obscure comic panel from the 80s or something but it doesn’t really matter because we’re all just,,, cool with it? Like for example- in the dc comics fandom, an art piece could show 3 of the bats that look virtually identical except one of them is holding a box of cereal so that one is obviously Dick Grayson. . . Y’know?

Anyway, these things usually come up naturally I guess but I’ve been here a while and it’s finally time to put my foot down. It’s high time for Duke Thomas to be more in fanon than “the sane one.” Because he might be the relatively new guy but he is certainly fears no gods or laws of the land just as much as the other bats, lemme tell ya.

TL;DR here are character quirks (”canon-based” or otherwise) that we should all really latch onto seriously I’m begging y’all to make at least one of these happen-

Duke “Habitually Jumping Out of Moving Vehicles” Thomas

This one’s actually based in canon y’all; Duke did indeed yeet himself out of the back of a cop car and off of a bridge (in We Are... Robin). Normalize Duke’s wearing knee and elbow pads as Signal because jumping out of a car turns out relatively fine once and then suddenly Batman’s rooftop disappearing act seems mellow compared to the amount of times Gordon has whipped his head around to see a now Signal-less backseat.

Like, he’s going 60 mph?? And he didn’t even hear the door open?? and tHE DOORS ARE STILL LOCKED??

Imagine this leaking into civilian life and Bruce waking up to a blurry photo of Duke mid-escape from a limousine on the front page of the Gotham Gazette.

Duke “Puzzles are my Passion” Thomas

Duke is ~canonically~ very skilled at both solving and concocting riddles (as a child during that time where The Riddler just,,, controlled Gotham, he worked non-stop on riddles, trying to make the perfect one). Please y’all- let Duke solve puzzles. Have the other bats ask him for help after 36 hours straight of brooding over some brainteaser that Duke works out within the half-hour. He texts a picture of the solution scribbled out on loose leaf in the margins of his pre-calc homework because this boy shows his work.

My guy is a word-cross FIEND. A mind-sweeper speed-runner. That guy who mails into the Gazette to correct a solution in the “fun & games” section and also ps that photo is not of me I am simply a polite young man who is much too busy writing into the paper in the year 2021 to jump out of limos-

I also would love to see this integrated into the type of cases he investigates / runs into on his daytime patrol. Like, obviously the criminal activity is going to dramatically differ before and after sundown, but that doesn’t make Duke’s work any easier or less important. It’s a different skillset; he has to work differently. Instead of jumping into fights, halting mob meetings, saving civilians in dark allies, etc. Duke has to sort through all of the moving pieces before they all converge into something catastrophic.

It’s a known fact that criminal organizations in Gotham make and execute a lot of behind-the-scenes plans during the day specifically not to run into the bats. And Duke knows and monitors this shit all by himself; his work is crucial to logistics and information gathering for the bats as a whole. Now criminals have like, a 2 hour gap between bat-shifts to try and get stuff done. But Duke would 100% set traps on timers or lead them on this pre-set convoluted goose chase to distract them until the night bats come out and to let himself enjoy the whole thing playing out on the news while he finishes homework that’s due at midnight.

Duke “I Know a Guy” Thomas

So in going off of the basic concept for the “We Are. . . Robin” run in combination to his general likability, Duke has a lot of friends all around Gotham. Okay, sure, he doesn’t have a Super best friend or a Speedster on speed dial, but he does know this guy who details cars up on West 35th and will tell them all about the new mods on Black Mask’s transport vans if they come through the third floor window and bring takeout.

Bruce and Tim will be waiting for the facial recognition software to identify at least a partial match off of security cam footage when Duke pulls into the cave, takes one look at the screen, and says “Oh, that’s <insert name, address, abridged life story, and known associates here>.” This also brings in the opportunity for Duke to have some sort of perfect recall for faces, voices, names, etc. which I think could be a really cool element for his position as the batfamily member who has a lot more personal interaction with the people of Gotham.

I’m also into the idea of a lot of people knowing/telling stories about Duke. Not to reference the Chuck Norris meme but almost like the Chuck Norris meme lmao. Think about Jason mentioning his brother to someone and she replies, “Duke Thomas? Like that Duke Thomas? The one who swam across the harbor because he said it’d be faster than the subway and it actually was?” These stories have varying levels of truth to them but Duke will never confirm nor deny when he gets random calls from family members yelling “you dID WHAT”

So those are my top three, and the following is a little speed-round of headcanons :)

Duke has a super expressive face. Like when he’s relaxed around family, you can tell exactly what he’s thinking and how he’s feeling by his visual reactions to things

Duke rotates through picking up new and revisiting old hobbies at a pretty rapid pace. Some hobbies include: bullet journaling, origami, viola, cello, synth, conversational basics in multiple languages, up-cycling and embroidering clothes

Duke has a really fucking adorable smile. He can’t help it. He’ll try to grin sarcastically or smug to be annoying but his smile just cannot be anything other than endearing. He also has a very specific booming laugh that’s an absolute treasure to hear, because it’s the most genuinely happy thing ever.

Duke unironically enjoys Signal by Twice even though the first time he heard it was after Steph had set it as his morning alarm.

Previously on BnHA: Flashback!Kacchan was all “fuck Deku and fuck his stupid goodbye letters, I need to speak to somebody in charge.” Endeavor was all “hello, I am Somebody In Charge.” Kacchan was all “listen up asshole, you need to let us go out and collect our wayward nerd because you stupidly left him alone with All Might and that’s a fast track to disaster right there.” Endeavor was all, “[self-incriminating silence].” Rat Principal was all, “okay sure, have fun kids.” Back in the present, class 1-A was all “hi Deku” and Deku was all “I’M FINE!!!!!” and Kacchan was all “THAT’S WHAT I THOUGHT YOU’D SAY YOU DUMB FUCKING NERD” and so the kids all got ready to fight, because OF COURSE they’re gonna fight. Sorry guys, but yeah it’s happening.

Today on BnHA: Kacchan is all “what’s up Deku you look like a possessed Rorschach test, so anyway how are the new quirks coming along.” Deku is all “they’re coming along like THIS” and uses Smokescreen to try and get away. Kacchan is all “PHASE ONE COMMENCE”, and Kouda, Sero, Jirou, and Ojiro leap into the fray to shower Deku with heaps of love and violence, because this is a shounen manga and kicking someone’s ass while simultaneously proclaiming your undying admiration for them is just how it’s done in these parts. The KoudaSeroOJirou squad then passes the baton to Satou, Momo, Tokoyami, Kaminari, and Shouji, who are all “fuck this mask” and do a bunch of stuff to tear Deku’s mask off because they’re the real heroes. Shouto is all “LOOK AT THE LITTLE CRYBABY, THAT’S RIGHT, GO AHEAD AND FUCKING CRY and by the way let us share your burden please,” and once again I swear this is all very deeply moving and touching within the actual context. The chapter ends with Tsuyu being all “look at me. I’m the cliffhanger now,” and damn.

PREEMPTIVE REBUTTAL: this is a callback to the classic “even heroes cry when they have to” Shouto line from chapter 137. Shouto is clearly following Kacchan’s lead here and going for the more ruthless approach, knowing that the gentle approach isn’t getting through to him (if anything it’s only making him more stubborn as we saw on the previous page). basically it’s his way of pointing out that even heroes are still only human, and so is Deku last time he checked

ah okay, and there Tsuyu is at last

okay real talk, I get why Tsuyu is included in the tier 3 friends, because she was one of the first people to team up with Deku going all the way back to USJ. but that said, this probably would have had more impact if their most recent interaction hadn’t been like 150 chapters ago

but anyway though it’s still a good speech. maybe not quite a cliffhanger-level speech, but a good speech nonetheless. in a way though, I’m glad to see that Horikoshi seemingly didn’t give a fuck whether he ended this on an actual cliffhanger or not for once

It is currently 12 am and I have work in the morning, so I will try to keep this short and to the point. This is a follow-up to my previous post, and I thought I’d explain further.

This is in regards to whomever posted the anti-BKDK/Anti-Bakugou post about his apology. And no, I am not shouting out their name because they not only blocked me like a coward, but I also just don’t feel like it! :) Since you gave your opinion and so graciously shut mine down, I am just going to make a whole-ass post about it. So sit tight.

First I will reference by saying, and I was going to add this after my many corrections on the post, that I actually have to agree with some of the points they made. Bakugou’s apology to Izuku was very lackluster, and many, MANY fans feel the same way, even BKDKers like myself. It was not explored very well, and we didn’t even get to see Izuku’s thoughts and feelings regarding it. Not only that, it was very vague. “I apologise for everything I’ve done up until now”? How about apologising for telling him to yeet himself??

But, you are looking at it from a phycological, real life stand-point. This is anime. I repeat, this is anime. Have you seen some of the anime apologies they pump out?? They are all very “this is why I did it, this is what I was thinking while doing it, this is why, this is why. . .” If they were actual, real life people, I can see where your rage would be justified. But also, since you seem to think you know all about the Japanese culture, you also have to remember that the Japanese have a different way of expressing themselves. Of course they do! They are a different culture, they do things differently than you! For example, a lot of the time when a Japanese man likes a Japanese woman, you know what he will do? Not the same as we’d do; go up to the woman and talk to her, ask her on a date, maybe tell her “hey, I kind of like you.” Most of the time(and I am not generalising all Japanese people here, I am just simply stating the common practice in the country) he will approach her and say “I love you.” That is just the difference in expressing themselves. That is also why you see in a lot of anime, there is no real “build up” in a relationship, it just sort of happens, unless it’s a shoujo anime. (There’s also the fact that Bakugou is SIXTEEN. Do you know ANY sixteen year olds that know how to properly apologise??? Lmao. I am an adult and I still sometimes struggle with proper apologies because it’s not something I do every day.)

But I digress, my point is, you cannot examine their behaviour and relationship based around real life. This is not real life. This is fiction. And this is Horikoshi’s mindset and hell, this may be what he himself sees as a decent apology, which is why he wrote it as such. Does this excuse anything Bakugou has done? Of course not! But you are viewing it all wrong.

Not only that, but there were a few key points that was made in the post that was just completely false information, in which I tried correcting. The first one being, Izuku telling Katsuki not to call him by his first name. He did, indeed, tell him “Deku is fine, Kacchan. You don’t have to push yourself.” I don’t know about you, but that very clearly to me says “I can see how much you’re struggling to call me Izuku, so I don’t mind if you keep calling me what makes you feel comfortable.” What that DOESN’T say to me, is “I don’t want you calling me by my first name, because we are not that close and it makes me uncomfortable.” People seem to have this notion that Izuku is some kind of PTSD victim that wants NOTHING to do with Katsuki??? Are you even reading the same story I am? He literally said in a chapter that he never thought he would be able to talk normally to Katsuki, and then followed it up with “I’m too blessed.” If Izuku was uncomfortable with Katsuki calling him Izuku because he didn’t feel like they were on the same level of intimacy, he DAMN sure wouldn’t be calling him “Kacchan” still. “Kacchan” is a very endearing pet name that he has kept clinging onto so tightly, that he refuses to even try to call him by “Bakugou.”

Second, hoooo boooy?? The post said that it was IZUKU calling himself a shitty nerd in the narration? Does he also call himself by “he” now, too? Instead of “I”? Izuku has never called himself any insulting terms that Katsuki calls him, unless I am forgetting something?

Third, Izuku NEVER felt like Katsuki needed to apologise, and that is made very clear, if you like, actually read the manga? He has since moved on, and only wants what is best for both of them in their hero paths, while also very obviously striving to be on equal terms with Katsuki like they were before. That is up for debate, though. You could argue that he just wants Bakugou to not be a total shithead to him, but either way, he still very much cares for Bakugou, more than he cares about anyone else aside from his own mother, and that is a FACT and a half. The reason why Izuku didn’t comment right away, was more than likely a mix of exhaustion and confusion, because he never thought he’d get an apology from him. I am willing to bet money on us getting some kind of BKDK talk session where they actually hash things out. And if not, then sure, go rant about it some more.

Lastly, if being Izuku’s friend was something Katsuki never was striving for, why is he so damn whipped and protective over him? Is that also for his own self satisfaction and feelings? ✋ 😌

Dripping b l o o d and yknow. All the tea. And Xiao comes to rescue her— and he’s like 0-0 “wait...” and he realizes that’s like- exactly what happens to him- and so. He beats the fatui’s butts saves his s/o, anddddd she like.

Idk. This is where I need your angst expertise ❤️ like- she could d i e. In his arms. And poor Xiao would be so scarred omg poor thing- BUT THE ANGST- but at the same time;;;; the f l u f f of him being able to save her just in time and she was like fighting for him the whole time or whatever and ended up needing him to save her anyways- and then Xiao feeding her almond tofu until she gets better ❤️❤️❤️

The Yaksha sighs.

He’s here again. His mind and heart has returned his being into this crimson world his demons have created within him.

He feels it. He feels the corruption binding him tighter again for every death he brings by his tainted hands.

He looks at his bindings. And ever so slowly, the red and black coiling around his person will eventually reach his heart.

One day, he thinks, all this crimson and black in this world will swallow him whole and he will see the light no more.

Xiao sighs again.

This is his karmic debt.

The moment you stepped foot within Wangshu Inn, you knew he was in his prison again. After giving a quick greeting to the inn keeper, you hastily went to Xiao’s room. The closer you got, the heavier the atmosphere became.

You reached his door and knocked softly. As expected, no reply as he continues to struggle to take back his control over himself. Without hesitation, you stepped in. To anyone else, they would have instantly met his spear at their throats, but with you, this doesn’t happen. Instead, you see him crouched on the wooden floor with a hand on his chest. His knuckles were white and his breathing was ragged. His amber eyes- lost. Observing his form, yes… his moments of corruption are becoming progressively worse.

With swift steps of familiarity to this routine, you went to him and grasped his shoulders.

“Xiao, it’s me…” You whispered with clarity. And oh- how your voice brought a wave of comfort to his soul.

“N-name…” His voice cracked, but him calling to you is always a good sign.

You gave him a small smile and proceeded to grasp his hands together with yours. After which, you then leaned your forehead to his to chant your prayers. As your prayers progressed, slowly but surely, the corruption begins to fade along with the black mist that covered him. However, you took note how this ritual took longer than the last.

Once everything is done, Xiao just slumped onto your shoulders, still breathing deeply. “How are you feeling?” It was a useless question you asked every time this happens, but you always, always, have to make sure.

Usually, he would mutter a small ‘fine,’ but now- words seemed to have left his mind and all he could muster was an almost-unnoticeable shrug.

Truth be told- his response disheartened you, but you did not show it. Instead, you opted to simply encase him in your arms and caress his hair. After all, these are just one of the few, rare moments Xiao would leave himself into your care. Xiao is aware, himself, that his state has been becoming worse and worse. And you both know, that a day would come when he would just attack anyone- friend or foe- without a trace of hesitation. So, just this time- he speaks his feelings.

“Name?”

You answered immediately with a questioning hum.

“What would you do… when I finally lose control over myself?”

It was very subtle, but he felt how your hand stopped caressing his hair for a second, then proceeded to the previous task at hand again. In all honestly, you can never find yourself having an answer to that question. “And why would I ever let that happen to you?” You questioned back, fully aware that you were dodging his question.

Silence surrounded the two of you, unsure on what to do with the sudden heavier atmosphere.

Not wanting to face the cruelty of the world yet, Xiao simply buried himself on the crook of your neck even more. And despite the ghostly sensation of his lips on your skin, you could feel him mouth the words ‘I love you.’

“As long as I’m here,” you whispered, “nothing can hurt you.” And that was the most beautiful lie that the Yaksha has heard, but he was willing to believe all the same.

When word about Fatui diplomats starting a bank reached you, there was a nagging feeling in your head that trouble would bring itself present anytime soon. It was like an itch that wouldn’t get away. And the only way to have that itch gone is to scratch it.

“You are absolutely a fool.” Xiao stated darkly with crossed arms, for once disagreeing with the plans of his master.

“We can never know what their intentions are unless we let them start their bank, no?” Zhongli said as he gazed at the marsh spread beneath him.

The Yaksha only scoffed but said no more.

Building up your courage, you deemed it was your turn to voice out your thoughts, “Um… Rex Lapis, I see your point, but wouldn’t it be best to resolve the problem before it persists into something larger? We all know- All of Teyvat knows, that the Fatui are not to be trusted.”

Your archon offered you a kind smile, “I understand your worries, Name. However, as of the moment, they have not presented themselves as such. If they truly are our enemies, then it would be beneficial for us to know their intentions.”

You frowned deeply at his statement. Seeing you do so, somehow, your archon immediately identified your main concern.

“Is this about the Tianquan assigning you to be her representative for the Fatui?”

The moment those words left his mouth, a growl tore from Xiao’s throat, but he held his tongue.

“Did Ganyu tell you?”

The Archon nodded and you sighed.

“I volunteered, actually.”

And at that point, Xiao vanished into thin hair, but you could still his sense his presence around.

“May I know why?” Zhongli questioned gently.

For a moment, you struggled for words. You didn’t know how to describe this ‘itch’ to him. “At first, it was supposed to be Ganyu, since in the Tianquan’s eyes- Ganyu is an adeptus and she does not know that I am, too. Perhaps she didn’t want to put me in harm’s way, a ‘visionless human’ at the side of a harbinger. After some convincing to Ningguang for my volunteering, I spoke to Ganyu next.

“The adepti are divine beings that walk here in Liyue. I had this feeling that putting a divine next to a power-hungry harbinger would become an issue. I told Ganyu that, since I looked ‘harmless’ and ‘ordinary,’ the harbinger’s interest about the divine would never surface.”

A stretch of silence wrapped around them as Zhongli pondered over your words. “Perhaps, are you also planning to dig out the truth of their arrival?”

You nodded, “I knew you would allow them to stay, so I just took it upon myself to unfurl their secrets.”

“Hmmm… I grant you permission on doing this. However, should trouble arise, do not hesitate to tell us.”

The glare pointed at you was strong. Even without him saying a single word, you could hear his phantom voice in your head speak with such coldness, What are you thinking?

You simply gave him a reassuring smile, “I’ll be fine, Xiao. I may be a human in mortal eyes, but please do remember that I am also an adeptus, no matter how weak I am.”

Xiao releases a huff, but still sits by your side at the floor of the balcony, letting the moon kiss his skin. “You’re not weak.” He mumbled as he snaked his hand to yours.

To him, you will never be weak. In fact, you were the strongest being he has ever laid his eyes on. Not physically, no. It was you mental and emotional fortitude. Back during the Archon War, he always admired how you kept your head held up high no matter the suffering you have experienced. No matter how much death surrounded you, you still fought. And that strength made you a survivor. During the war, you never failed to help the wounded. Even when someone dies under your care, you held strong for the departed and for those who are left behind. You were a pillar of hope.

He brings your hand to his lips and kisses every knuckle “… Just be careful. If ever you are in trouble do not-“

As someone who used to be a healer and a doctor, you were quite familiar with several mild skin diseases that mortals can suffer from.

If there is an itch, you do not scratch it- for you will only aggravate the area even more.

Now that you’re working alongside the Fatui as the Tianquan’s representative, the itch you kept feeling was only irritated more. Especially whenever you spoke with the Harbinger who goes by the name Childe. And since your work requires you to cooperate with him, you also don’t miss the chance to discover what he hides, should the opportunity presents itself.

Childe… his azure eyes certainly have their… charm to those unaware. However, you knew better. You know he’s capable of drowning you just by his eyes. While he may be a cheerful man, his eyes lack the lustre of joy. The eyes are the windows of the soul, yes? If so, all you see is an unending ocean that you do not want to swim in. The surface may be calm, but the deep is relentless. However, duty bound you are- deep within the ocean, you shall find the secrets the Fatui hides.

Again, another scratch to the itch, but it only irritates you more.

The news of Rex Lapis’s death became the catalyst of you confronting the Harbinger. From Yujeng Terrace all the way to Northland Bank, you ran (with Ningguang’s permission of course). Before you can even open the door to his office, something caught your eye.

It’s faint, but you’re an adeptus. You sensed elemental traces, just smack bang at the middle of the door. You carefully scrutinized the tracings, and fortunately you knew Snezhnayan script. And what you read only made your heart sink.

It’s ready.

With the adeptal arts, you managed to uncover the origins of these elemental tracings.

Without hesitation, you followed these tracings until it led you into some ruins.

Following the tracings further, you find yourself in a dimly lit room. Wary, you summoned your weapon imbued with your element.

Searching the room, you came across several antique boxes. You opened them.

What you saw were familiar. Too familiar. Dimming the room more with your element, you find more Sigils of Permission hanging on the walls and on the ceilings. The energy within them were faint, but with enough numbers, it’s enough to kill a-

“Well, well well, I thought you’d be there mourning for your Archon. But here you are, snooping around someone else’s research material.”

The sound of his voice made you sharply turn your head to him, your stance now more offensive. “What are you planning?” You bit coldly.

The Harbinger hummed a small tune, “Nothing much… But! If you’re really curious, I guess I could tell you.” He hummed some more but you knew he’s not finished. Once he finished his tune, he grinned to you menacingly and the depths in his eyes became even deeper and darker, “After all, I won’t let you leave this place with you knowing my secret~”

There was this one time, Xiao struggled against himself so much, he scratched himself red so that he could anchor himself back to the real world. You remembered how much you cried as he slept in your arms. You never wanted to see him do that again. Seeing him hurt himself also hurt you, too. It was like a stab in the heart, then a twist, and twist some more. A slap in the reality that you might lose him one day.

As he slept, you solemnly observed the wounds he sustained himself to. They were angry red, just like blood.

Now, you, yourself scratched that itch in your head too much into a wound for blood to seep through. You scratched too much and now you have to bleed from it.

You were slipping in and out of consciousness. Sleep was tempting you more and more but you know you have to wake up. You were aware that this is going on for days.

Everything hurts. You remembered how his blades, imbued with the Sigils, weakened you thoroughly. Every slash he brought to your body just drained the energy away from you. But still you had to do something.

He wanted an adeptus- he wanted an adeptus in order for the Sigils to grow stronger both in number and in power.

Now here you are, bound by chains and suspended at the middle of this empty room. These chains were adorned by talismans that drained away your energy. You were bleeding from your wounds of your previous battle.

Drip. Drip. Drip goes the blood and pools on the ground underneath you. The ground, you barely noticed, was lined by Liyuean script which enacts the ritual of the Sigils draining your divine power from your blood.

To the eyes of a sadist- you were a picture perfect in a canvas. A dark room lined by the damned Sigils, glowing an eerie gold. Then there's you with your bloodied clothes and chains. The red pool underneath was casting a red glow on your way, giving you a red shade to your pale skin.

Everything hurts-

And everything was driving you mad.

You can also feel the Overlord of the Vortex feed from your energy through the Sigils. You sensed his lust for power and revenge. You felt his anger and the corruption within him. You felt his hatred and his want to bring death. For days that felt like years, you’ve been battling against that very same god in your head. This battle was not something you shall not lose to and failure is not an option. If you fail here, then Liyue will fall.

This god- he was driving you mad slowly.

If ever you are in trouble, do not hesitate to call my-

You shut the thought from your head. You are not going to call him. You will not speak of him. You will not think of him. You will not call him. Not to this place where his corruption will grow. No. You Will Not Call Him.

If it means that me not calling you will keep you safe from the corrupted remnant of a god- so be it.

However, no matter how much you denied yourself to call his name, no matter how much your heart yearns to be with him- the wind does not ignore the pained sob that left your lips.

Ever since the news of Rex Lapis's death and the visit of the Traveler with a Sigil in his hand- the corruption within him just bloomed into something feral.

The Sigil- there was something wrong about it but Xiao doesn't know what is it that is wrong. Then there's you- where are you? Surely with the news of their Archon's death- it would send you to bring forth a meeting for the adepti to talk this over. But now- for days- you remain not by his side.

With you missing- the demons inside him are slowly taking control over him, taking advantage of his vulnerability for you. For each passing day, it was slow torture for him- The worry bubbling in him was consuming him. He glared at the Sigil between his fingers and not failing to notice how his dark aura covers him once more.

“Traveler,” Xiao called sharply, “What is it you intend to do next?”

To any mere mortal, the look his eyes held were enough to strike fear, but the Traveler stealed themselves- meeting the adeptus’s gaze with an equally serious calm. “I have my suspicions on a certain harbinger and I-”

“Where?” The Yaksha growled.

“In the Golden House.”

Without a word nor warning, Xiao placed a hand on the Traveler’s shoulder and teleported them to the place where the Exuvia is hidden.

To the Traveler, everything happened so quickly as one event led to another. One moment, they were standing among unconscious bodies of the Millelith then the next thing they knew a corrupted and demonic gust of wind flew them away to the side. Regaining back their vision, they could see Alatus’s spear now at Tartaglia’s barrier made of Sigils.

Alatus narrowed his eyes at the floating talismans and began to calculate the flow of this incoming battle with precision and accuracy despite his losing control over himself.

It was a tense minute of sizing each other up, but eventually, Tartaglia has broken the silence with his annoying innocent voice.

“Who would have thought that I’d have the honor of fighting another adeptus of Liyue?”

The question immediately fed the corruption within him, the dark aura exploding at it. He knew that he should not believe in the Harbinger’s words so easily, but the glint in the latter’s eyes held truth. You could be out there, hurting, scared, alone. You could be out there, bleeding out. You could be out there dyi-

His aura exploded once more at the thoughts spreading in his being. With a burst of unspeakable power, Alatus lifted his weapon and pierced the barrier once more, this time breaking it without failure. At the threat, Tartaglia backed away as he donned his mask.

In a similar fashion, Alatus, too donned his mask. “I will ask you once,” the Conqueror of Demons spoke with a deathly calm, “Where is she?”

He should have killed him then and there. But the call of the Overlord of the Vortex must not be ignored as it threatens Liyue.

In the small opportunity of escape, Childe took it. But he was weak and injured as Alatus swiftly threw his spear to block his way and teleported right in front of him. In a show of power, the Conqueror of Demons lifted the mortal by the neck.

“I will ask you again, where is she?”

In fear, Childe told him everything and at his every word, Xiao listened carefully- never speaking once. But the anger within his heart, it boils- it rages. His amber eyes bored into Childe’s soul- thinking what he should do to this mortal. Oh how killing him would be so nice. However, when the Yaksha’s gaze landed on the regal form of the Exuvia, he merely threw the mortal in its way.

“Killing you would have been easier. However, the crimes you have presented against Liyue are not mine for me to judge.

I leave the Harbinger to you... Rex Lapis.”

Once out of the Golden House, the Overlord roared once more, shaking the lands of the nation. However, along with it, he heard the faintest of voices. I’m so sorry... I couldn’t hold him back anymore.

Only then did the demons in his heart freely took control of him. Just like the stories of old, where the Yaksha walks, death follows. But they were no stories. In his way towards the ruins where you were held captive, every step he took brought carnage and even more death and blood to taint his hands. No Fatui will leave this place alive. The very being of destruction ended many lives. Each death, the demons were growing stronger.

Then seeing you suspended in the ceiling and bound by chains. Blood was painted on your lifeless skin. Wounds were littered and bruises were blooming on your form. But most of all, your eyes. What were once full of life and hope- now empty and blank. His demons quieted down.

Broken. You were like a broken porcelain doll.

“N-name...” His voice cracked, not believing it all.

With haste, he quickly broke your binds and caught you in his arms. he was fast to check for your pulse and your breathing. And thank the Archons, you were breathing but barely. You were now walking the line between life and death. With all his might yet a gentle caress, he hugged you for dear life. “Name... It’s me...”

But still, your eyes still held no recognition and it shattered his heart to pieces. With further inspection, he sensed the presence within you. A corruption. A certain evil.

“Name, stay with me please,” Xiao begged with desperation as he fought back tears. “It’s me who supposed to be the corrupted one between us, not you... I’m not allowing you to leave me, you hear me-”

With a ritual of the adeptal arts, he started purging and purifying the evil left by the god who fed from you. He is not letting you stay alone in your prison, not for a second longer.

Xiao prays and he never prayed before. Even to his master. But just this once, He prays with desperation. You are the light in his darkness. You are the moon in his night.

The ritual was a delicate process. For every word he spoke, he was rewarded by your screams of pain and the writhing of your fragile body. He wanted to stop, but he can’t. He had to physically restrain you from trying to escape from his embrace and from hurting yourself. And for every cry you released, Xiao merely shuts his eyes clos just for him not to see your pained eyes. Every now and then, Xiao speaks gentle apologies and words of encouragement for you. You were coming back. But still, the evil persists.

You writhed and scratched against him, until you were creating more wounds for blood to seep through. When it came to a point, you began pleading and begging for him to stop, that was when Xiao had shed a tear. So he continues the ritual, his prayers, and his apologies. They were arriving to a point where the ritual is reaching its conclusion but your screams only grew louder.

Please, just a little more...

The corruption disintegrated away from you in a forceful release of dark energy. He was breathing deeply, attempting to calm his loud heart. When he placed his gaze on you, you were breathing rapidly and your eyes were searching blindly and your hands were desperately holding onto him.

“X-Xiao...” You whispered, “Where am I? Where are you?”

With a sigh of relief, the Yaksha hugged you again closer and his forehead to yours, fearing you would go away again. The action made you lift your hands to his face, still searching blindly.

“I’m here, Name... I’m here.” At his voice, the dam in your eyes broke as you cried silently. Xiao was not adept in emotions, but for you, he will face them gladly. He lets you cry as he gives you soft whispers of assurance, safety, love, and promises. However, you were not crying because of what had happened to you. You were crying for him. After experiencing such corruption-

You sobbed some more- you were this close to him losing you and you could not bring yourself to imagine if your roles were reversed.

“P-please,” you said with a broken voice, “please don’t go to the place where I can’t follow...’

The words, at first puzzled him, but after a few moments, he realized and once more it broke his heart. Bringing you closer, Xiao let loose the tears he was holding back. With a gentleness unexpected of the Conqueror, he simply littered your face with kisses. “I promise if only you would do the same.”

With your smile that he loved dearly for so long you too spoke your promise, “I do.” They were simply two words, but the comfort they bring into the Yaksha’s heart was in volumes.

After that, you shared a few tender moments in each other’s arms. Simply relishing the feeling of their familiar warmth. A little later, Xiao spoke, “Would you like to eat some Almond Tofu once we get home?”

The question made you giggle at his innocence, so you agreed. Despite you needing physical medical attention. But Almond Tofu with him? Yes, you two definitely need some emotional healing.

A/N: fINALLY dONE lmao this was supposed to be short but angst really makes me want to write longer everytime haha~ anyway this request really made me ponder bout genshin stuff with all the corruption this and corruption that but then a question popped up like-

how did childe replicate the sigil of permission? since sigils are imbued with divine energy, i just thought how did this guy accumulate so much sigils to the point of freeing Osial- a god!!! soooo i just played with the idea for a bit then figured out maybe these pieces of paper get the divine energy from a divine source right? and the adepti are divine beings of liyue and another thing- you guys might have noticed the change of names in some scenes- i dont know but i think somehow different names represents different side of a person like- we have childe the cheerful harbinger then tartaglia the power hungry harbinger- there’s Alatus who’s calculating and cold, there’s the Conqueror of Demons who’s ruthless and unforgiving, then Xiao who is calm and humane- lastlyyyyy i might post this in ao3 ksks
