anyone else finding it really, really personally nauseating that the pjo show would remove gabes entire character and replace him with someone less abusive to make sally a Strong Female Character. like wow, im sure glad that youve proven that women who are abused are the REAL threat to feminism, and they should just try talking back more!! what a good message to send to abused kids. sorry, kid. i guess you just didnt argue hard enough and #Own your abuser into seeing how cool and strong you are. what do you mean that arguing with an abuser will only make them hurt you more? but look how snappy and cool and feminist sally is now!!! youre clearly just being abused wrong.

DPXDC Prompt #61 Part 4
Danny woke up to a stream of sunlight on his face. The room was just as rich as he remembered, he stood up and stretched a bit before he heard a knock at the door.
It was Alfred bringing him a change of clothes, “Breakfast is ready, Master Danny. You can find the dining room down the hall to the left.” the old butler smiled at him.
“You don’t have to call me Master, Alfred, I’m not your Damian.” Danny said, turning around to address him.
“Ah, yes, however you are still Master Bruce’s son, even from another world.” The butler gave him a cheeky smile.
Danny shrugged and headed to the bathroom to get changed. Once he was decent again, he headed down to the dining room.
The room was just as fancy as the rest of the house with a chandelier and ornate vases.
Danny noticed Damian and a few others already seated at the table. Damian wore what Danny could only assume was his rich kid school uniform. He sat across from Damian who made a small ‘Tt’ and turned away from him.
Next to Damian was Tim who put away his laptop once Danny sat down. Tim was wearing a business suit, a dark red colored one. “Ah, you sleep much longer than Damian does, you must have been tired.” Tim smiled at him.
Also seated at the table and wearing a navy blue suit, was Bruce himself. He was drinking coffee and reading a newspaper.
“Stop comparing me to him, Drake, I’m nothing like this imposter.” Looks like Damian still thought he was a clone.
Whatever, he shrugged it off and filled his plate.
“I don’t really have a lot of free time,” was all Danny said before he started eating.
Tim kind of watched him for a minute, he looked kind of shocked for a second, “You’re eating meat??”
Ah so that was another difference between them, “again, I’m Danny, I’m not Damian.”
Damian scoffed, “So that’s what you call yourself, imposter.”
Danny gave Damian a tired sigh, looks like the him of this universe was a lot more prideful than he was. Danny went through way too much to carry the same, dying and being crown prince of the infinite realms wasn’t exactly something he was born into. Danny was a bit jealous if he was being honest with himself.
“Damian, please at least attempt to be friendly. Danny is our guest for the meantime.” Bruce said, putting his newspaper down. He then turned his attention to Danny, “I know it isn’t ideal but I think it’ll be best for you to stay here until we can get you to your own world. I’m planning a trip to the Watchtower tomorrow so I can speak with some of my colleagues about the situation.”
Danny sighed but nodded his head, “I get it, you can’t have two of us running around.”
“Quite, you’re more than welcome to go around the mansion and the grounds, I’d also like to invite you along to the Watchtower but we’d need to come up with a disguise for you, secret identity and everything.” Bruce continued after taking another sip from his mug, “Alfred will still take you out today to get some basic necessities for you. We’ll get you a proper disguise so you're able to go with him.”
Danny nodded again and continued eating. He thought things over as he ate, he technically had a disguise they could use for the Watchtower but Danny was still on the fence on what exactly he’d tell everyone here.
It wasn’t exactly an easy conversation to have, thankfully some more people arrived for breakfast.

Ooo hii can I please request a Tangerine x fem!reader where she is in her early twenties and she’s the White Death’s more forgotten daughter as she’s not a violent person or a criminal (she’s pretty much treated like the Cinderella of the family by everyone- By her Dad, her sister (The Prince), her brother (The Son), and their Dad’s men). Her sister (The Prince) threatens her into helping with the whole Bullet Train scheme. At some point she has Y/n go up to the Twins with a weapon to “threaten” them… Poor Y/n is terrified and squeezing her eyes shut and shaking (and probably holding the weapon incorrectly), and the Twins are pretty much tilting their heads in confusion at the sight in front of them, and are pretty much like, “You’ve never done this before, have you? You’ve never even held a weapon before, have you?” They gently (and easily) take the weapon from her and ask if she needs help and who’s making her do this, andddd then she breaks down and details her sister’s whole master plan + they find out how awful Y/n has been treated by her whole family and they get her out of that situation and take her in and becoming the family Y/n always wanted🥺🥺 Tan honestly having to be held back when he hears Y/n’s sister berate her. Tangerine and Y/n falling in love?
Readers adopted so everyone can read, I made this super long so buckle up, Suggestive

You were just at your job, normally waiting the tables. It was late and you guys were about to close.
“Hello! I’m y/n, I’ll be your server today, what drinks can I get you to start off with?” You looked at the person, thinking they looked oddly familiar.
“Sister.” the woman said.
You furrowed your eyebrows, eyes widening at the realization.
You said her name, it sounded more like a question. She nodded. You stumbled back a bit, before she grabbed your wrists, making you drop the pen and paper in your hand.
“I’m here because I have an offer- well not really an offer. You are going to go with me on a mission. To kill our so beloved father. If you don’t, I’ll just kill dad, and then I’ll kill you, and then for fun I’ll kill your dog.”
You were shaking at this point, you tried to talk and your boss came up.
“Everything all right here?”
You were gonna speak when she did before you. “Everything’s fine.”
“Right.. take off for the night, okay?” He looked at you, and you were dragged out the doors.
———————————————————————
The three of you were soon in a bathroom, and Kimura held a gun to her head.
Your eyes widened again, stepping away from them both, stumbling against the wall.
“Picture it.”
“Picture what?”
“Well, the man. Watching your son. I wonder how he’ll do it. Maybe a pillow to the face. Maybe something clever, like an air bubble in the IV.”
You went to go outside the door, when she caught you in the mirror.
“And imagine your poor dog. Whining and barking all because her owner couldn’t help her sister.” She looked at you. And you gulped and stepped back inside. You loved your dog.
Kimura took the gun away from her head and held it, going to give it to her.
“Give it to her. The innocent young girl act doesn’t really get you very far. If you’re holding a loaded gun.”
His phone ringed, and he talked to his father.
She took his phone, and she took the gun, then handed it to you. You looked at it, breath shaky along with your hands.
“You’re going to sit here and you’re going to go through every combination until you open up that case.”
“Kid, that could take f-“
“No, no, it won’t. I’d start with the low numbers. Just a thought, c’mon, you’re coming with me.” She dragged you along out the bathroom.
———————————————————————
You passed your brother then, you gasped and took a step back, running into a table and falling to the ground.
Your sister just looked at him and took off his glasses, spitting in his face.
She looked down at you, kicked you, and you stood back up.
Of course you were the black sheep of the family, and they all treated you bad, but still. He was your brother.
—————————————————————-
You and your sister walked back to where he was, and he had opened the case.
“Look at that. I knew my luck would rub off on you. Fuck.”
“What the fuck are you doing?” Kimura asked.
“I am doing the same thing that I did to the gun in her hand.”
You looked down at the gun.
“If the gun doesn’t kill him, the case will.”
“This thing could’ve killed me at any point-“ you said.
“No, no, it’s inert until you fire it. But I do want you to fire this one.” She handed you one that was in her bag, a normal one.
You looked at it, in disbelief as you put the other one down.
“I’ve never..”
“Well your gonna. Kill the twins and the old guy… what’s his name? I don’t care..” she waved you off, you stared at her again.
“Are you se- wha-“ she pushed you out the door, you fell onto the ground.
“And I have a camera on it, so if you don’t do it, I’ll find you and kill you myself.” She said, and then the door closed.
You mumbled something under your breath, and shakily picked yourself back up.
————————————————————-
That’s how you were now holding a gun to Lemon. He held his own to your face, as you screwed your eyes shut. He looked confused.
“You know your holding the gun wrong, right?” He said, you opened your eyes and he noticed your anxiousness.
He grabbed his phone out and texted tangerine to come.
Soon enough tangerine was rushing there, and held a gun to you quickly. You winced as both guns were now pointed at your temple. They backed you into a corner, you didn’t have anything to do.
“Start talking, we don’t got all day.” The one with the mustache said.
Your eyes started to water and you broke down. He slowly took the gun away, and you were now putting your face in your knees, both men looked confused now.
Lemon put his gun down, and stared at you.
“M-my sister made me do this- I don’t even know what I’m doing! I don’t even know how to shoot or hold a gun!” You told them. “She’s trying to kill our dad. The white death.”
“Your dad is the white death? Your the guys sister?” Tangerine asked.
“Adopted. But yeah.” Your lip quivered and you looked up at them, nodding.
“Fucked up family.” Lemon snickered, Tangerine nudging his arm.
“Sh-She’s using me as bait, to kill you and the glasses guy, but I don’t know how to kill anyone and-“
“Calm down, yeah? Your safe.. just, explain where she is, can you do that?” Lemon asked, crouching down next to you as Tangerine looked around and ran a hand through his hair.
Your eyes widened when you remembered the gun had a camera.
“We have to go, like soon.” You mumbled to them quietly, and you quickly scrambled away, running.
They just followed you, you weren’t much of a threat they thought. You were literally shaking just holding a gun.
——————————————————————
That’s how you were now underneath a table, as the twins sat.
“She’s fucking insane, if she sees me-“
“Relax. We jus’ gotta find glasses and tell him.” Tangerine said, mostly talking to lemon.
“Yeah, before he shoots our heads off.” He snorted. You looked over at your brother mostly, and then just hid your head in your knees.
“Hey! You Haven’t happened to see my sister have you?”
“What’s she look like?”
“She has e/c eyes, and h/c hair. She’s insane, a literal psychopath. Her therapist wanted me to take her but I can’t find her.” She shrugged.
“Nah, sorry.”tangerine quickly said.
She glanced under the table, clearly seeing you.
“Mm.. just tell her if you do see her that I’m looking for her.. I’ll be waiting.”
“Mhm.” Tangerine nodded, and motioned for her to keep moving.
“She knows. Damnit.” You mumbled, and went up from underneath the table and next to Tangerine.
“So now what do we do?”
“Like I said, jus’ wait for glasses.”
———————————————————————-
You all waited for a while, then he moved on the seat across, holding a gun to Lemon.
“I thought I knocked you out. But anyways who are you?” He looked to you, pointing the gun to you now as both men quickly pulled their out and pointed it to him.
“Her sisters the target, mate. Put the gun down.” Lemon said, and he slowly did.
“And we don’t need you, so one fucking move I’ll blow your brains out.” Tangerine said.
“Mmm.. so then why am I here?”
“Jus’ fucking listen.”
As you explained your family, and how they had always treated you, Tangerine and Lemon looked as each other for a moment then looking back, then you started to explain how your sister wanted to kill your dad to become the new white death.
“So she wants me to be bait. She doesn’t want any distractions so that’s why she sent me-“
“Why didn’t she send Kimura instead of you? I mean, if you don’t even know how to hold a gun wouldn’t it make more sense?”Ladybug asked.
“Probably because she’s always wanted me fucking dead.” You mumbled.
“Ohhhh.. got it. Yeah that makes sense.” He nodded.
“Alright, jus’ calm down. We’ll stop her from.. doin’ whatever to you, yeah?” Tangerine said. Lemon quirked an eyebrow, Tangerine wasn’t exactly known for being a sweet guy.
You nodded, and you just looked as they came up with a plan.
“She’s not gonna fall for it.” You mumbled. They all turned to you now.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that she still has Kimura. She brought him here for him to fail. For her plan to work. She’s not gonna die before he does. She’s a selfish little prick-“
“Fuck, I knew I should’ve gotten off this train.” Ladybug mumbled, groaning in annoyance.
“And the hornets still alive.” You said.
“Who?” Lemon and tangerine asked.
“Actually….” Ladybug scratched the back of his neck.
“You killed her? Fuck. That’s crazy, my sister always went on about how she was annoying. She found out the wolf was here for the hornet.”
Tangerine sighed. “Can we please get back on fucking track?”
Tangerine got a call. He looked at you and picked it up.
“You have been lying to me, my friend.”
“Well, cats out the bag now, innit?”
“You were responsible for keeping my son safe, for keeping my money safe.”
“I don’t know a thing or two about being a parent, but you know what I would do, being that it’s your son and your money? I’d stop crying about your dead wife, get off your lazy fucking ass, come here and finish the job yourself. And while your at it, maybe apologize to your daughter or something, I dunno, just a thought.” He paused.
“But as we’re having a bit of a heart to heart, got a couple things to tell ya. Your sons a complete bellend, and as for your case I haven’t seen it since Toyko and I hope someone’s fuckin’ found it, put it all on red and having a fuckin’ wonderful time.”
“I will meet you at Kyoto Station.“
“Oh, how wonderful. I can’t fucking wait.”
“I want to look into your eyes when I kill you and your brother, along with my daughter.”
“Good fuckin’ luck, morning rush hours rolling in quite nicely. Uh, what’s your plan, mate? You gonna fuckin’ waltz in here and blow my brains out in front of the whole fuckin’ carriage of witnesses?”
“There is no one left on that train. I know. I bought every ticket until the end of the line.”
The elder walked into the train, and Ladybug stood up.
“Yeah I’m getting off this train. Sorry bout your family and deaths but I gotta go to a temple or some shit… reevaluate everything I’ve ever done.”
Tangerine and lemon then held a gun to his head, motioning for him to sit back down.
He sighed and put his hands up, sitting back down.
“Looks like I’m staying.”
———————————————————————-
So they made up another plan, with you involved this time.
The elder sat across from the princes.
“You are the one who pushed my grandson off the department store roof, why?”
“Your son. He’s going to help me kill the white death at Kyoto station. And that was the only way to get him on this train.”
“The white death.”
“That’s right. But he couldn’t even do that. So he’s dead, just a few cars back. They are both dead.”
“My grandson was pushed off a roof. What makes you think I would leave him unprotected?” He got a text message.
“My grandson is safe. And my son is not dead-“
“Listen, old man-“ she stood up.
“The only thing you know about an old man, young lady, is that he has survived much more, and much worse than you.”
She took her bag and quickly ran away.
—————-
A snake came slithering up towards Ladybug, your eyes widened and Lemon and Tangerine stared at it.
“What? There something on my face-“ he was interrupted when it latched onto his arm, biting him.
“Ow! Motherfu-“ he ran to the nearest bathroom, and shoved it into a toilet. He sighed and sat down for a moment.
Then the elder sat down, right across from Ladybug.
“Who the hell are you?” Tangerine asked, remembering how the white death bought every ticket, keeping his guard up.
“I am Kimura’s father.”
“Do you know where he is…?” You asked.
“I do.”
So then he took you, only you for some reason. He didn’t quite look how everyone else held a gun to him first thing.
They talked, his son was still alive. Barely.
You all went back and you helped his son clean up a bit. Lemon and Tangerine talked for a while.
“I don’t need help.” He mumbled.
“It’s the least I can do to apologize for my shitty sister.” You gave him a meek smile, and Tangerine and Lemon came over to you two. You gave them a smile and then went back to helping Kimura.
Then you went to hang out with Lemon and Tangerine only, Kimura wanted space.
“Thank you.” You blurted out.
“For what?”
“Everything. You both saved me. If I’m gonna die, I don’t wanna die because of her.”
Lemon smiled and nodded.
“It’s nothin’. The only problem now is killing them both, yeah?” Tangerine said.
“Yeah.” You smiled again.
———————————————————————-
That’s how you lemon, and tangerine started out. You started to call and text them in Japan, then deciding to move, but not knowing where, they decided hey why not that house down the street?. It was a nice house, so you said why not.
That’s how you now lived in London, you and Lemon were great friends. You and Tangerine were more complicated.
“So… this can’t happen again.” He would always say, laying down next to you. Even though he’d love for it to happen again.
“Agreed.” You mumbled.
It happened again, a lot more times.
“We can’t keep doin’ this to Lemon.” He would say. Lemon if anything, wanted it to happen.
“You two would make the best couple.” He said one day when they were eating dinner, Tangerine choked on his food and stared at him.
“What? Don’t think I haven’t heard you two. Oh yes, right there!” He mocked you, making him laugh loudly and Tangerine throwing a piece of bread at him.
“Go fuck yourself.” He stood up, grumbling and going to his room.
Lemon continued to laugh, and then you walked in.
“Heyyyyy… don’t mean to bother you. Where’s Tan?” You asked.
“Hey, we were just talkin’ bout’ you.” He snickered, you furrowed your eyebrows.
“He’s in his room. I’m guessing you’re gonna…” he snickered again, you didn’t understand at first.
“Lemon!” You groaned, and he laughed loudly again. Your cheeks heated up and you just went into Tangerines room.
“Oh man. Too good. Too funny.” He laughed.
In reality you came to borrow a book, but ended up staying the night. Lemon came in to give him something, and then he saw you both cuddled up, Tangerines arms wrapped around you.
He took out his phone, taking a picture.
“I’m never gonna let them forgot this.” He smirked to himself, closing the door quietly again.

You screamed at the top of your lungs, trying to claw yourself out of the earth. How the hell were you supposed to know that there was quicksand in America? And why the hell were they making racers take their horses through it?! Your horse had run off to god knows where and you were stranded. You were going to die here.
Prior, you made the stupid mistake of screaming at Gyro for being an idiot, and he left you in the dust unapologetically. You couldn't blame him though. If your horse didn't have a scratch on her leg, you would've gladly left him in the dust too, but instead you were left behind. And now it felt like the last breaths you were going to take.
For some reason, your brain couldn't stop feeling bad for yelling at Gyro, for being such an asshole to him since the race started. Maybe if you didn't cause all of the situations, karma wouldn't be here to bite you in the ass.
You really couldn't help but cry, watching the sky get further and further from you. God, this was awful. Wet, hot tears ran down your face as the cold mud grabbed your collarbones. You knew you shouldn't have signed up for this godforsaken race.
You took a breath and decided: screw Gyro Zeppeli. He just left you here like he knew it was going to happen. Like he wanted you to die in the middle of the-
Your thoughts were quickly interrupted as you felt a hand grab yours. You were pulled out of the mud and into the arms of… dammit.
“Gyro?!” You pushed him away and almost fell back into the mud, but he grabbed your hand to prevent that from happening.
“Are you hurt?” His voice sounded genuine, like he really cared about you.
“N-No. I'm fine.” You shuffled in your spot before Gyro ran with you, avoiding anything that could be quicksand.
“Dammit, y/n, I can't believe you!”
“I-”
“I don't wanna hear it! You get all pissed at me and I leave you just to find out you almost got killed, you dumbass! Thank god your horse showed up to our campsite or else you would probably be dead because I wouldn't have found out!”
You stood and allowed yourself to get yelled at by Gyro. You did deserve it. You were being the asshole, so the least you could give him was your time. So you swallowed back your pride and listened.
“I'm just, ugh!” Gyro threw his hands in the air and then wrapped his arms around you. “I'm just glad you’re okay.” His voice was soft against your ear, and his hair tickled your arm.
“Sorry Gyro.”
He pulled back and looked you up and down. “It's okay… just… don't do it again.” He grabbed your hand and went to walk off again, but he felt the force of you standing still and stopped, turning to you. “What’s the matter?”
“I'm really sorry Gyro.”
“You already said that, y/n. It's okay real-”
“No. About earlier. I'm sorry Gyro.”
Gyro looked at you with concerned eyebrows and jumped when you threw yourself on him, wrapping your arms around the back of his neck. He pulled you in close by the waist and smiled. “I'm sorry too.” You kept your muddy, dirty clothes covered body pressed to his warm one, letting him pick pieces of trees and rocks off of your shirt. “Now what do you say we get back to the campsite and get you cleaned up?”
You nodded and placed a little kiss on his cheek before grabbing his hand and letting him guide you.

Marvel Humor Fics
As much as I love angst, I also love to laugh at some of the predicaments my poor blorbos get into! So here are some of my favourite humor fics from the Marvel fandom.
He's a Real... Bare... Devil? by 94BottlesOfSnapple (772)
The real problem with no longer wearing body armor, Matt considers, is not actually the higher risk of injury. It’s that sometimes even when you don’t get hurt, you still end up mostly-naked in an alley that smells like day-old Chinese takeout.
Daredevil manages to lose his clothes while on patrol with the Defenders. They only make fun of him a little.
Footie Pajamas by Triscribe (1.1k)
*What?* Tony demanded. *What is it, what’s wr-*
“Ohmygosh, Mister Stark! It’s too cute!” Peter beamed from ear to ear. “There’s a little girl in the car next to me wearing Spider-man footie pajamas!”
Silence reigned for a long moment, before Tony burst out laughing.
How (Not) to Meet New People by aloneintherain (1.4k)
“Why is there a teenager in our office?”
Foggy stood in the threshold of the office, mouth slightly agape, most likely wondering if he’d walked into the wrong building. The kid waved at him, smile huge under a blooming black eye and spilt lip.
“Foggy,” Matt said, far too calm for someone who was in the presence of a beaten, bloodied, teenage stranger. “This is Peter.”
oh, jesus, not the both of you! by FRAMEW0RK (1.6k)
He’s gonna pass out.
Yup, it’s happening. Foggy can only tell because he’s passed out before, when he was twelve, after he got his finger smashed in the large metal door of their cooler. The intense pain first. Then the cold flash, then the sweating, and then the spots surrounding the corners of his vision. All of that was going on. In the middle of a courtroom. Surrounded by tons of watching people.
“Mr. Nelson?” the Judge calls out. He probably looks awful. His mother told him that he went deathly pale before he passed out the first time. Didn’t she take a video? He remembers there being a video. Is the room spinning or is that just him?
“I think ’m passing out,” Foggy mumbles thickly, hand flailing out for purchase but getting nothing on his fingers. The world was starting to go underwater. Someone yelled, and then there’s this gasping sound all around and then there’s darkness and nothing.
Team Red by SalazarTipton (1.9k)
“Ned, for the last time, I’m not going as any of the Avengers! Can you imagine what would happen if they found out? They’d think I had a favorite and--” “But you do have a favorite,” Ned interjects. Peter throws one of his fries at him. “That’s not the point! They don’t know that and can I remind you that you’re forbidden to talk about that? Going to the Tower would be hellish. Can you imagine Mr. Barton and Mr. Stark trying to prove they’re the better choice?”.
when the pretty birds have flown (honey, I'm still free) by the_crown_jules (2.1k)
“I can talk to birds,” Sam said, a little more loudly than the situation warranted.
Bucky's lips twitched, a battle playing out between his attempt to take Sam seriously and his clear desire to snicker. Laughter won out, lighting up his face in a way that was becoming more and more familiar.
“You’re such an asshole. Okay, Torres, I assume you’re listening, you can go now, you’ve had your fun.” He looked around as if he’d be able to spot Torres watching them on camera. “What is this, Falcon initiation?”
New Year's Regrets by whumphoarder (2.5k)
In the midst of hosting his annual New Year’s party, Tony is called away to rescue a very impaired Peter from a rooftop in Queens.
Happy Hibernation Day by for_the_night (2.7k)
Tony and Pepper return to the tower on Valentine’s Day to find Peter asleep on the couch. Only he won’t wake up.
Good job neither pseudo-parent panics.
throw all your lucky coins on me by keep_swinging (3.2k)
i. shock (denial) ii. pain (guilt) iii. anger (bargaining) iv. depression v. the upward turn vi. working through vii. acceptance (hope)
Sorta Kinda Kidnapped by happyaspie (3.5k)
Peter gets kidnapped on his way to school. It's fine, though. He's perfectly capable of saving himself. It happens so fast and it's so uneventful that he forgets to tell Tony it even happened. Until the kidnappers call to collect their ransom.
Not Completely the Worst by mainstreamelectricalparade (4k)
Peter's spidey-sense had been going off all day. If he had to stay at school for literally another minute longer, he was probably going to go insane.
And of course, there was one person at school whose single goal in life seemed to be ensuring that that happened.
“Yo, Penis! Where are you off to in such a hurry?” Flash called after Peter as he took the steps three at a time in his attempt to make a quick getaway.
Peter squeezed his eyes shut in exasperation and kept walking. Maybe if he ignored the problem, it would go away.
Because that had always worked so well for him, in the past.
Don’t Judge a Knife by Its Color by blondsak and Grace_d and whumphoarder (4.4k)
“Whoa, hold up, hang on,” he says, taking a step closer to get a better look. The blade is probably four inches long and neon purple, while the handle is white with a friendly-looking colorful silicon grip. “Is that a toy knife? Is this a Fisher Price mugging?”
“Fuck you, Spidey,” the mugger replies, fumbling for the knife before scrambling back to his feet and brandishing the weapon at Peter.
Or, Peter is stabbed by a misleading knife, Tony plays a high stakes game of Operation, and May retains the one brain cell.
Dollicia Elizabeth Cowleen the Third by Spideypool_supremacy (4.6k)
Peter frowned. "Why do you have such an obsession with that cow?"
"Getting jealous, Pumpkin?"
Peter looked at him, unimpressed. "Oh no. A cow is stealing all your affection. Whatever will I do." He said sarcastically.
Wade grinned. "Don't worry, Petey. I love you both the same."
"That's actually insulting."
quaranteens by blueh (6.6k)
“Peter Parker,” Cindy says. Peter’s head snaps up so fast that it almost looks inhuman. “Did Tony Stark just waltz in and pick up his child in the background of your Zoom call?”
Peter freezes. Wide-eyed, with ‘guilty’ written on his forehead in 72, bold, Times New Roman font. It takes a solid thirty seconds before he can put himself together enough to click the unmute button.
“I—no?” Peter says. His voice is startlingly high pitched and his expression is nothing short of horrified.
Damn, if that isn’t anything but a confession.
The Glass of Sand and Fog [Fan Comic] by neonbrutalism (7k)

Learning To Say Hello by heartsdesire456 (11k)
Clint had woken up one morning about three weeks ago (Well, Clint guessed about three. Definitely more than one. Maybe.) and stumbled down to the living room only to realize there was a guy on his couch. The guy just happened to be the Winter Soldier, who Clint knew was actually Steve’s old best friend, Bucky Barnes.
Barnes had been having a staring contest with Lucky (one eye shut, to make it fair, Clint had noticed) and Clint had decided to just leave him to it and make decisions after he’d had some coffee.
(In which Hawkeye befriends the Winter Soldier and discovers the Epic Love Story of Steve and Bucky nobody knows about)
but what is a hero, really? by mjscorner (17k)
"Flash," Peter pleaded breathlessly, "you don't want to do this, okay? They're armed. Trust me, you don't understand."
"No, I think I do understand," Flash scoffed, unsurprised. "You've been a loser your whole entire life, but everyone here still adores you. Well, I'm done dealing with that, okay? Time for me to be a hero."
Peter's heart sank as Flash bumped into his shoulder and marched forward.
He stopped before rounding the corner when the faint sound of a gun being cocked echoed throughout the hall, freezing Flash right in his place. Peter turned on his heel in an instant, standing beside Flash protectively.
"But-but what is a hero, really?" Flash croaked with a nervous smile, side-eyeing the weapon suspended beside him as it softly nudged the side of his skull.
Peter slowly raised his hands in surrender, staring at Flash until he did the same, dropping the cans of pepper spray and the walkie talkies.
"We are so, so, so monumentally screwed."
Let Me Know if It Gets Above a Six by Sundial_at_Night (65k)
“Mr. Loki?” asked the Spider cautiously. “Aren’t you—like—a bad guy?” he asked, voice full of only curiosity, as far as Loki could tell.
His first thought was, yes.
His second thought was no.
His third thought was, sometimes?
“It varies from moment to moment,” Loki answered honestly, prying his eyes open after they threatened to fall close.
“But on a scale of one to ten, where are you at right now?”
“Maybe a three?”
The Spider-child nodded. “Cool,” he replied. “Let me know if it gets above a six.
The Devil's Hangin' 'Round My Doorstep by 94BottlesOfSnapple (96k)
There’s a lot of things Matt Murdock doesn’t allow himself. His best friend is one of them. But put on a mask and suddenly everything seems so freely available, Foggy included. On the other side of the coin, Foggy’s still trying to stifle his big bisexual crush on his best friend and has no idea what to think of the vigilante who’s suddenly and inexplicably taken an interest in him.
it's always who is spider-man, never how is spider-man by i_regret_thatpersonalityquiz (176k)
"Stay?"
Peter finally looked down to see Harley Fucking Keener, Iron Lad, the boy who had caused his shoulder to be throbbing all night, looking away with a slight tint to his cheeks. Peter opened and closed his mouth, no sound coming out.
And he sat back down.
OR: Peter had been living on the streets, dealing with your average homeless vigilante stuff. Things got a bit more complicated when the Avengers started to chase him down.
I hope you enjoy these!! I'll have to make a part two at some point because there's so many brilliant fics to share. Thank you to all the fabulous writers who shared these fics with us, and happy reading!

Hi! alright? First I would like to say that I love reading all your fics. They're all amazing! Could you write some fic about a relationship between the reader and Farah where reader is a teacher and has a daughter and that daughter loves Farah's company and that makes the reader incredibly even more in love with Farah. Given this situation, she makes a surprise or something for Farah, I'm not sure... I don't know what else to say, sorry! I hope you understand hahahaha Thank you for your attention!
Hi hon! Thank you so so much for this prompt, I am absolutely enamored with it. I’ve always been such a sucker for kid fics, and then one with Farah too? Absolutely feral over it
I will say though, this one got long — as I haven’t done a kid fic for Farah yet I went a lot little overboard, both in length and the sheer amount of fluff in it. So if that’s right up your alley, then enjoy 🖤
Read here on AO3 or below. As always, send me an ask or a message to submit a prompt
Mothers and Daughter (1/3)
It had been love at first sight for Farah and Lucy.
You’d realized you needed a new job only weeks after your darling baby had been born, when your current job tried to wheedle you into cutting your maternity leave by almost half. After that particular meeting had ended, you called up your friend who worked at Alfea and asked (as she’d tried to recruit you before) if there were still any positions available.
Lucky for you, there were, and even luckier, you were hired on quickly by one Headmistress Dowling.
She’d been accommodating about your schedule once you told her you had a newborn, and so even though you were barely working part time (with an agreement to bump up to full time when your daughter was older), you were still given a faculty suite and full benefits, as well as free tuition for Lucy should you still be employed at Alfea at that time.
You got along nicely with the rest of the staff and quickly gained a good repertoire with your students, so when your three month review with Farah came around, you felt very confident it would go well.
Until the woman who was supposed to babysit Lucy that day called and canceled, leaving you with no other option than to bring her with you to your very important meeting with Farah Dowling.
Little did you know just how that would change everything.
You opted to carry her in your arms, knowing you could soothe her easier should she become fussy, and with one last silent plea that this go smoothly, you stepped up to Farah’s office.
“I’m sorry, Farah,” you said after you’d knocked quietly on her door jam. “Our meeting has been booked for weeks, but my friend who was supposed to babysit had something come up. I know it’s unprofessional of me to bring her with me, but—”
“Nonsense,” she interrupted, waving her hand to dismiss your apologies as she stood from her desk. “You’re a mother, I would never hold that against you.”
Surprise and relief flowed through you at her nonchalance, leaving you a bit numb as you stepped into her office, Farah closing the door behind you. When she faced you again, she smiled softly down at Lucy, asleep in your arms. “May I see?”
You nodded, always happy to show off your girl. You slowly adjusted Lucy so that her face could be seen, and then watched in awe as Farah’s face relaxed into a brilliant smile, any lines or tension in her face draining away in a moment.
“She’s precious,” she murmured, and reached out almost on instinct to brush the back of her finger over Lucy’s cheek, lighter than a feather.
Lucy opened her eyes, despite the light touch, and you braced yourself for the cries of a baby cranky from being woken, but to your amazement she was quiet, staring up at Farah as she blinked somewhat owlishly.
Farah hadn’t asked, and yet you felt that it was right. You shifted her in your arms to hold her out to Farah, and she accepted without a word, carefully taking her into her arms and settling her onto her shoulder.
She gave a low, cooing hum when Lucy continued to stare up at her. “Hello, little one,” she murmured, rubbing her fingertips in slow circles along Lucy’s back.
You watched them in awe for a minute, smiling to yourself when Farah began to gently sway. “She’s going through a phase where she gets a bit fussy when someone she doesn’t know holds her,” you told her, still staring in amazement. “She must be enamored with you.”
Farah chuckled lightly, still gazing at Lucy as though she was unable to take her eyes off her. “I do believe the feeling is mutual, little one.” She stared a moment longer, and then managed to glance up at you. “What is her name? I don’t think I know.”
“Lucy. Or, Lucille is her full name, but I mostly call her Lucy.”
“Lucille,” Farah murmured, reaching up to brush her finger over her cheek again. “A beautiful name for a sweet girl.”
She swayed and hummed for a few moments longer, and then shook her head a bit, chuckling. “As much as I believe I could stand here with her for the rest of the day, I suppose we should get to our meeting.”
You laughed and held your arms out for Lucy. “It is hard to get work done when there’s a baby around.”
“Oh, I do agree,” Farah said on a laugh before she handed Lucy back to you, but not before she cupped the back of her head one last time with such tenderness that it made your heart swell in sudden affection for her.
The meeting went well, though Lucy squirmed so much to get a look at Farah that you had to turn her to face Farah halfway through, something that made her laugh and lose her train of thought.
You both rose when it ended, and Farah came around her desk to shake your hand. Lucy still stared at her, so Farah ran her thumb down her cheek as a sort of goodbye before she looked back at you. “You said you had a sudden cancellation for your childcare today, yes?”
You gave a regretful nod. “Yes, unfortunately.”
“Does that happen often?”
You felt your heart jump into your throat, wondering if this would be the courteous yet firm request to make sure that didn’t happen again. “Uhm, no, I wouldn’t say often, but on occasion it does.”
She smiled kindly at you, shaking her head as she held out a comforting hand. “I don’t mean to worry you, no, I’m not upset that it does. Just…” an odd, sort of bashful look came over her features for a moment, and then she continued. “Just that I don’t want worry or stress about care for your little one to ever be a problem for you. So, should that happen again and you need a replacement, you’re always welcome to ask me.”
You nearly felt your jaw drop. “I—really?”
She nodded, and a bit of that bashful look came back again. “I wouldn’t mind watching her. I can’t always guarantee that I’ll be available, but if I am, I’m more than willing.”
You were still more than stunned by such a generous offer from the Headmistress of the school, but you managed to nod at her. “That’s—thank you, Farah, that’s a really wonderful offer. I might need that some day.”
Her features melted into a smile, and she gave you a nod. “Good. Don’t be afraid to ask.”
For the rest of the day, you thought about Farah. At first just about her offer, but soon your thoughts strayed into how good she’d been with Lucy, and then eventually (and more embarrassingly), they strayed into how good she looked, not just with Lucy but on her own, too, with her fine, regal structure and her small but gentle smile.
And by the end of the day, no matter what you did, your heart did a double beat every time you thought of Farah Dowling.
~~~~~~~~~
The next month went by as smoothly as it could when you worked with teenagers, and every day you found yourself more and more grateful that you’d decided to come to Alfea.
And then came the day when your babysitter had canceled two hours before you had to teach a class, your backup babysitter unable to make it, and none of your friends available for that hour.
Twenty minutes before the start, you finally started considering your option of Farah Dowling.
She had offered, and had seemed entirely sincere and willing. But that had been over a month ago, and you hadn’t really talked to her since, except for staff meetings and the occasional small talk in the hallway. Not to mention there was still a chance that she wouldn’t be able to, and there was still the little problem of the flutter your heart did every time you thought of her.
But it was either that or take Lucy to class with you, and while you weren’t against that in principle, you did have a fair number of fire fairies on your roster. Not that you didn’t trust them, but you had seen teenage magic in action before, and would rather not take the chance.
So with ten minutes to spare, you gathered up Lucy and her bag and started for Farah’s office.
Her door was open and she was at her desk — a good sign, so you stepped up and knocked on the door frame.
She looked up and smiled at you, which widened when she saw Lucy asleep in the carrier you held. “Someone’s tired — what can I help you with?”
“Ah, well,” you took a step into her office and gestured down to Lucy. “I have a class to teach in ten minutes and my babysitter canceled today. No one else has been able to cover, so if you’re not too busy, I was going to take you up on your offer. If you’re not, though, that’s alright—”
“I’m free,” Farah said simply, cutting off all of your placations. “I’m happy to watch her.”
The tension you hadn’t realized you’d been holding left you in a sigh, and you gave her a grateful smile. “Thank you so much, that’s such a huge help right now.”
She smiled, standing from her desk to come around and get a closer look at Lucy. “I have to admit I’m not entirely selfless in my offer — I think I could stare at her all day.”
You laughed. “And now you understand the plight of a working mother.”
You held the carrier out for Farah to take, and then set the bag down on her guest chair. “She’s been fed and changed, so she should just sleep through the hour, but if you need anything it’s in this bag. And as my boss you probably don’t want to hear this, but should anything happen I have no qualms about canceling my class in the middle if you need me here.”
Farah laughed and shook her head as she glanced between you and Lucy. “I would never hold that against you when it comes to your daughter. But we’ll be alright, and we’ll be right here when you’re done.”
You nodded, and swallowed past the familiar lump in your throat that came every time you had to leave her. “Okay, I’ll be back soon,” you said to Lucy as much to Farah, and then turned to leave, looking back one last time to see Farah staring fondly down at Lucy.
Your class went blissfully smooth, and though you knew Lucy was in good, safe hands, you couldn’t stop yourself from hurrying back to Farah’s office when the hour was up. And though you were going fast enough to nearly run straight inside, the sight you found had you stopping in your tracks.
Farah stood with her back to you in the middle of her office, Lucy fast asleep on her shoulder as she slowly rocked side to side, one hand cradling her close and the other holding the file she skimmed. You thought you heard her hum under her breath, a slow tune you could only catch snatches of, and that sent your heart fluttering in your chest, affection and warmth swelling in your chest until you thought it might burst.
You might have made a noise, for Farah turned suddenly, smiling reassuringly when she saw you at the door. “She’s alright, she was just a bit fussy in her seat. Just needed to be held, that’s all.”
You laughed, steadying yourself from another wave of affection with a hand on the door jam. “She’s quite happy right there.”
Farah chuckled too and looked down at Lucy, still asleep. “She is, isn’t she? I’ve never seen a baby so clearly just want to be held, nothing else. To wake up from sleep and not need food or a change, but just to have someone hold her while she falls back asleep.”
“She is a little cuddler.” You took one last moment to commit the scene before you to memory before you gently took Lucy from Farah, settling her comfortably into the carrier before you took the bag Farah handed you.
“I just wanted to thank you again for watching her.” When Farah tried to wave off your gratitude, you pushed on. “No, really. You’ve been so kind to me — to us, since the minute I arrived, and now with babysitting today, you’ve truly gone above and beyond what any other boss would do.”
The skin high on her cheekbones flushed lightly in pleasure, and the sight of it made you grin. “So as a thank you, can I make you dinner some night?”
~~~~~~~~~
You decided on that Friday, which luckily gave you some time to clean up your suite and go to the store. That didn’t mean you had to spend much of Friday after your class cleaning up the mess that had somehow accumulated between then and now, but you appreciated the theoretical head start.
Just before Farah was due to arrive, you did one last look through your suite, pleased that everything had managed to stay mostly tidy. With that, you picked up Lucy from her blanket on the floor and tucked the blanket away, then went about your sweep, murmuring to her along the way.
“I think we’re right on track here — the pasta’s almost done, and— oh, sweetie.” You looked down when you felt wetness on the front of your shirt to see Lucy spit up, staining your shirt and a bit of your hair. You cooed over her for a moment, reassuring yourself it was just a bit of upset stomach and not something worse, and then debated whether you should just use one of the kitchen towels to clean up or risk the time to go back and change.
And then came the knock at the door.
“Damn,” you muttered. Looked at the clock — six on the dot, of course she was punctual, and then down at Lucy. “I gotta hand it to you kid, you have impeccable timing.”
Resigned, you turned to the door and opened it to Farah, giving her a sheepish smile when her eyes first widened in surprise and then crinkled in sympathy at the sight. “Hi, Farah — I’m sorry, a bit of a situation came up just as you knocked. Uhm,” you looked behind you, took a step back, then looked back at her, flustered. “Come in, come in of course, I won’t make you wait out there.”
You waved her in as you shifted Lucy more securely in your arms. “Is everything alright?” she asked, looking concerned, and that same flutter you’d felt in her office rose up again.
“Yes, she’s alright, just unfortunate timing. Please, make yourself at home, there’s glasses and various drinks in the kitchen. I just need a few minutes to clean us both up.”
“If you’d like,” she said before you could turn away, “rather, if you’re alright with it, I can clean up Lucille so you can wash up.”
You paused, amazed that she’d offered. “I—really?”
She nodded, giving you a small smile. “I don’t mind. Just show me where the nursery is.”
Still a bit stunned, you showed her down the hall. “Her onesies are in here,” you said, opening the top drawer of a small, lilac dresser, “and wipes are over here by the table. I think that should be all you need? But if you can’t find anything just holler, my room’s right next door.”
“I think we’ll be alright,” she reassured, and held her arms out for Lucy when you shifted her.
She held her so easily, like she’d been doing it since the minute she was born, that you had to stop and marvel at it, watching Farah smile when Lucy reached out to grab at her necklace. She looked at you then, smile still in place, and nodded towards the door. “Go change. We’ll be alright.”
So you did, as quickly as you could, first rinsing out your hair and restyling as best you could before stripping out of your blouse. You told yourself you chose your new shirt because it was the first one in your closet and not because it was a bit more low cut than the old one, but whatever the reason, it looked good when you pulled it on. You gave yourself one last once over, and satisfied, you went back to the nursery.
You found Farah bent over the changing table, Lucy — now in a giraffe onesie — on her back and babbling while Farah rubbed her belly. She spoke in a slightly higher pitch, what you figured was her baby voice, but she seemed to hold a complete conversation with Lucy, which made you bite back a laugh.
“She likes that,” you said after you’d watched them for a minute. “She’s very relaxed.”
Farah looked at you and smiled, then picked up Lucy and walked over to you. “When the children were this young, I know rubbing their bellies helped when they were sick.”
“It helps her, too,” you said nodding, and took Lucy from her arms when Farah shifted. “The children, do you mean…?”
“Sam, Terra, and Sky. I didn’t see much of Sam and Sky when they were this age, but when Terra was born,” an odd, melancholic look crossed her face, but she shook her head as though to clear it before you could study it. “Things changed, then. I ended up helping to take care of her much more than the others.”
You wondered what had changed, but didn’t want to push it, and instead said, “I knew you had to get your skills from somewhere. You’re amazing with her.”
She grinned then, a look you were realizing was rare for her, and gazed down at Lucy. “She’s also a very agreeable baby. I’ve rarely seen one happier than her.”
“Not with everyone,” you said before you could stop yourself. When Farah looked up at you curiously, you continued. “She’s happy, yeah, but not quite like this.” When Farah’s eyes softened and she looked back down at Lucy, your heart swelled. “I said it before, but it bears repeating: she’s enamored with you.”
Farah didn’t have to say anything — the gentle caress she gave to Lucy’s head said it all.
Before your eyes could well, you hoisted Lucy further into your arms. “Come on; if I haven’t completely ruined the pasta, dinner will be ready soon. Then I’ll feed her and put her down, and then we can open a bottle of wine.”
The pasta was only slightly overcooked and the chicken wasn’t burned, so you considered that a success, especially as you got to watch Farah bounce Lucy in her arms while you put dinner on the table. An even greater success was when Lucy ate easily and went down without a fuss, and when you came back to the kitchen, Farah had just piled the dishes in the sink, then turned and asked where your wine glasses were.
Your conversation flowed easily, even without a child at the center of it, and for that you were grateful. Lucy was your world, but sometimes it felt like people had to struggle to fit around what your life had become, and at times you felt guilty for that. But with Farah, it all just fit; everything from babysitting to the conversation you could hold over a glass of wine, it all felt perfect, and you realized that having her here left you feeling more content than you had in years.
“It’s nice having someone around,” you murmured at a lull in the conversation, then blinked, realizing you’d said that out loud. You hadn’t had wine in more than a year and it had gone straight to your head. “I mean, that is, it’s not that I don’t have anyone, I do.”
You tried to backtrack while Farah looked amused, which almost made it worse. “But it’s different that just having a friend around — not to say that you’re not a friend, you are, at least I assume you are, but even when I’m here you still help with Lucy — not to say my friends don’t help with Lucy, they do, but it’s different—”
You finally managed to shut your mouth before you said anything else embarrassing could come out, but you felt like the flush on your cheeks would be there permanently, especially when you thought you saw Farah stifle a laugh out of the corner of your eye. But then she reached out and covered your hand with hers, her thumb slowly stroking along the back of your wrist.
“I think I understand what you mean.”
Your head shot up at her words, and the look you saw in her eyes made your chest swell — there was affection, warmth, attraction, interest in her eyes, everything that you knew was mirrored in your own.
“I’m happy to be around, in whatever capacity you should need or want,” she murmured, her thumb still stroking your wrist. “Lucille is a darling, and I enjoy looking after her. And I’m rather fond of your company, too.”
Her words were light, but what she was offering, the sincerity of her feelings, made your heart melt. Before you could doubt yourself, you took her hand between both of yours and pressed a soft kiss to her knuckles, lingering there for as long as you could. When you opened your eyes, her gaze was warm and soft, and something passed between you — a tentative wish, a tender hope, a promise, true and sincere.
And so Farah, slowly but surely, became a fixture in both of your lives. She hadn’t been there for Lucy’s first word, but had been there for her first steps, a wobbly walk towards you as she clung to Farah’s fingers while you’d both cheered and laughed. She’d been there through ear infections and fevers, helping to rock, soothe, and comfort, and the first time your little girl had uttered a jumbled “Farah”, you thought she just might cry.
Though you couldn’t deny your feelings for Farah, nor hers for you, you were reluctant to give into them fully. She’d become such an integral part of Lucy’s life, and should something go wrong between the two of you, what would happen? And what kind of mother would you be if you were nursing a broken heart? It all scared you too much to think about, and so you did your best to keep yours and Farah’s relationship platonic as the months went by.
And then one day, after a week of grading midterms and nursing Lucy through a nasty cold, you came home with plans to cook a small dinner for you, Lucy, and Farah (as she ate dinner with you more often than not), and then go straight to bed.
You hadn’t meant to fall asleep on the couch — just meant to sit and rest for a minute. But your eyelids were too heavy, and your body too sore, and within a minute, you were out.
But instead of waking to a burning stove and a crying child, you woke to dinner neatly wrapped in the fridge, Lucy bathed and tucked into bed, and the mountain of laundry, which you’d been ignoring for some time, clean on the ottoman in front of you, half of it folded by the woman who sat across from you.
You blinked blearily, trying to gauge the time while Farah folded another shirt. “You did laundry?” you said, and cleared your throat when it came out a rasp.
She smiled at you, placing the shirt on the pile before picking up another one. “You’ve had a stressful week. I figured it was the least I could do while I watched Lucille.”
This woman, you thought as you swallowed past the lump in your throat, this utterly perfect woman.
She’d come expecting dinner, and instead had stepped up and taken care of everything while she let you rest. Emotion swelled in your chest, but this time you couldn’t just ignore it, couldn’t just let it go by with nothing more than a meaningful look.
Standing from your spot, you skirted the ottoman to sit next to Farah, merely taking the shirt from her hands, and when she gave you a curious look, you cupped her cheek and pressed a soft kiss to her lips.
She returned it just as softly, but when you parted your lips for her she deepened it suddenly, a warm hand coming to your waist and pulling you closer. You twined your arms around her neck, pouring everything you felt into the kiss, hoping she’d feel what you felt, that she’d understand a piece of your heart belonged to her, even if it had taken so long.
And she did. In what you thought may have been your own personal miracle, she did.
~~~~~~~~~
“Farah!” Lucy, two years old now, yelled as she toddled over to her desk. The woman in question looked up from her writing and smiled, standing to scoop her up into her arms.
“Hello sweetheart,” she said, her smile growing when Lucy threw her arms around her neck. “And hello to you, too.” She turned to you then, and you greeted her with a small kiss on the corner of her mouth.
“We’re a little early, but someone really wanted to see you.”
“Is that so?” Farah asked, and chuckled when Lucy nodded. “Well, how lucky am I, then?”
You grinned, then shouldered the bag you carried. “I have a couple classes back to back and then some meetings — you’re sure you’re alright to watch her for a few hours?”
She nodded. “Of course. I have a light day today.”
“Alright, then,” you leaned in and pressed a kiss to Lucy’s cheek, “bye, pumpkin.” You turned and pressed a kiss to Farah’s cheek, too. “I’ll see you later.”
Your classes went well, and while the meetings seemed to drag on, they were somewhat productive, and they’d given you the chance to talk to a few of your friends. But nevertheless, you were ready to get back to Lucy, and didn’t linger any longer than you needed to by the time they were done.
Farah was still writing at her desk by the time you returned, but the room seemed suspiciously absent of any signs of a toddler, making you frown and look around. “Where’s Lucy?”
She glanced up at you and nodded to the floor beside her, and you came around her desk to see Lucy sitting on the floor half underneath Farah’s desk, crayons and paper strewn all around her.
“Well, look at you!” you exclaimed, cocking one hip on the desk as she looked up at you, waving briefly before returning to her picture, and you smiled before turning your attention to Farah.
“Who knew Farah Dowling had crayons and paper in her office?”
“The children spent many hours here with their crafts when they were young, I had to be prepared.” she explained as though it was a tactical decision, but then she cracked a smile. “It’s almost a tradition at this point for a child to spend their afternoon coloring at my feet,” she said with a hint of pride, laying a hand affectionately on the top of Lucy’s head.
“Be as that may, and as sweet as that is, it’s been a long time since those kids were young,” you teased her gently, wanting to draw out what you suspected was the truth.
“Well, I may have replenished my stock of crayons and paper when you and I became closer.”
There it is, you thought, and had to stop yourself from swooning at the thought of Farah Dowling buying crayons for your daughter. “I ever tell you you’re perfect?”
“Never,” she said in a faux serious tone, making you laugh and lean down to press a quick kiss to her lips.
“Well, then, you’re pretty perfect,” you murmured, and you felt her smile against your lips.
Straightening, you looked down at Lucy. “Can you start cleaning up the crayons, kiddo?” you asked, and before you could say anything else, Lucy was turning to Farah with stars in her eyes, pulling on the hem of her skirt.
“Do magic, do magic! Please?”
You thought to stop her and insist she help clean up her mess, but the joy and excitement on her face was too infectious to stop, and she had Farah wrapped around her finger, anyway — there was nothing you could say to stop Farah from showing off.
With a barely contained smile, Farah’s eyes began to glow and she raised her hand in a graceful wave. The crayons scattered around the floor were sent floating into the air where they circled Lucy twice, much to her delight, before nearly settling themselves back into their box — organized perfectly by color.
Lucy giggled and clapped, making Farah chuckle, and you took another moment to admire the scene before you nodded at Lucy. “What do you say to Farah?”
“Thank you Farah.”
“You’re welcome, sweetheart,” she responded warmly, and your heart fluttered the same way it had nearly two years ago.
You helped Lucy gather up her pictures before giving them to her to carry, then looked at Farah again. “I’ll see you tonight?”
She nodded. “I’ll be back by dinner.”
With that, you hoisted Lucy into your arms, and giving Farah one last kiss, started for home, Lucy waving bye the whole way out the door.
~~~~~~~~~
More nights than not, now, with Lucy’s third birthday just around the corner, you and Farah slept in the same bed. You admitted that you slept better with her around, and when you’d told her such, she’d simply smiled, then packed a bag and filled the drawer and closet you’d cleared out for her. So when you woke to find her side of the bed empty and the sheets nearly cool to the touch, you pulled on a robe and went in search of her.
In the hallway, you heard Farah’s low voice murmuring in the living room, and you crept over to the corner to peer in.
And the love that swelled up at the sight was staggering.
She sat in the plush rocking chair you’d had since the day Lucy was born, the little girl curled up snugly on her lap. She rocked slowly, one hand gently running through Lucy’s curls, and though the girl’s voice was calm and quiet now, you could see the tear stains on her cheeks, her nose still red and runny from crying.
“It was scary,” you heard Lucy whisper, and Farah made a soft noise of sympathy.
“It sounds like it,” she murmured. “But do you know the thing about nightmares?” When Lucy shook her head against Farah’s shoulder, she continued. “They’re not real. They’re always scary in the moment, but when you wake up, you always see that they’re not real, and then you can think about all the nice things in the world—”
“Like horses and cupcakes?” Lucy interrupted, and Farah smiled down at her.
“Yes, like horses, and cupcakes with rainbow sprinkles, and how much your mama loves you, and how much I love you too.”
Tears pricked at your eyes but you blinked them away, not wanting to miss a moment. Lucy rubbed her face against Farah’s shoulder, burrowing closer, and Farah pulled her in, pressing a kiss to her head before her hand resumed its slow, gentle caress through her hair.
You lost yourself in just watching Farah rock, your little girl cradled safely in her arms. But even from there you could see her eyes getting heavy, her fingers losing their grip on the front of Farah’s robe, and she saw it too. Gathering her close, she slowly stood, murmuring something soft to Lucy when she stirred.
She saw you when she stepped towards the hallway, giving you a small smile over Lucy’s head. She murmured something to her again, and then Lucy opened her eyes, looking in the direction Farah nodded.
“Mama,” she cried, reaching out for you, and you took her into your arms, holding her close.
“Did you have a bad dream?” you asked her quietly, and she nodded into your shoulder. “Did Farah make you feel better?” She nodded again, and you pressed a kiss to the top of her head, rubbing her back. “Good.”
Lucy still clung tight to you, and so you took a moment to just hold her, swaying gently as you stepped closer to Farah, smiling when she reached out to rub her back with you.
“Are you ready to go back to your bed?”
Lucy made a noise that wasn’t quite agreement, but not quite refusal either, and you and Farah smiled at each other. “Well,” you started, and with an unspoken agreement you and Farah took a step towards her room. “Why don’t Farah and I tuck you in, and then you can decide?”
And so you did — Farah on one side, you on the other as you pulled the blankets up to her chin, murmuring words of love and wishes for sweet dreams. She was half asleep by the time you pressed a kiss to her forehead, and full asleep by the time Farah smoothed her hair back with a sweet smile, leaving you both to tiptoe towards her door, turning out all the lights except for the small lamp on her bedside. When you turned at the door to look back at her, you both paused just to stare at her, this little girl you both loved just so, and you were reminded for the millionth time just how lucky you were that Farah loved your girl, and that Lucy loved her too.
Wanting to memorize this woman beside you, you turned your attention to her, looking at her just in time to see her eyes fade from white back to dark, and you smiled, cocking your head in question. “What was that?”
It was hard to tell in the dim light, but you thought you saw her flush as she glanced from you back to Lucy. “I planted a good dream for her.”
Your smile widened, and you reached down to tangle your fingers with hers. “I didn’t know you could do that.”
“Though I can, I don’t make a habit of manipulating any part of a person’s mind. But… this seemed like a good exception.”
“I think so too.” You leaned into her and pressed a slow kiss to her cheek, nuzzling her with your nose. “You’re so good with her.”
She turned her head to bump her nose with yours affectionately. “I’m glad you think so.”
“I do, and I don’t just think, I know.” You wrapped your arms around her neck, resting your forehead on her shoulder. You’re as much her mama as I am, you thought.
And began to wonder just how you could show her that was true.
~~~~~~~~~
You woke to the quiet alarm you’d set, and quickly turned it off before it could wake Farah. When she didn’t stir, the excitement that had been brewing all week flooded through your chest, though it was tinged with a touch of nerves. It was hard to believe the plan you’d had ready for weeks was finally coming to fruition — and should it all come together, be one of the best decisions you’d ever made.
But Farah’s birthday was to start with you and Lucy making her breakfast, and that wouldn’t happen if you didn’t get out of bed.
It was still dark outside, the downside of the winter months, but you pulled yourself up to sit on the edge of the bed, grabbing your robe from the bedpost against the chill. But just as you’d tied the belt around your waist, you heard Farah stir behind you, and you turned to see her blink her eyes open.
It was astounding, sometimes, the love you felt for her — bleary eyed and bare faced, her hair long and loose, and she was the most beautiful woman you’d seen.
“Happy birthday, honey,” you murmured, and leaned down to press a kiss to her brow. “You should go back to sleep.”
She shook her head and stretched her arms above her head. “I can get up with you.”
Damn, you thought, and shook your head back at her. “No, just stay here.”
She furrowed her brows in confusion at your insistence, and taking pity on her, you pressed another kiss to her forehead. “Don’t tell anyone, but we’re making you a birthday breakfast.”
Her face suddenly brightened with a smile. “Are you now?”
“Mhm,” you hummed, and couldn’t help smiling back at her. “And it’s a surprise, so pretend you’re asleep when we come and get you.”
“I think I can do that.”
You gave her another kiss, but before you could stand, she grabbed your arm and pulled you back in, this time pressing a soft kiss to your lips. “I love you.”
Three simple words and you were undone. “I love you, too. Now go back to sleep.”
And grinning at each other, you crept out the door and towards Lucy’s room.
To your surprise, she was awake when you peeked in the door, and sat up bouncing when she saw you. “You said you’d get me when it was time but you were forever — are we gonna make b’eakfast?”
You stifled a laugh and nodded. “Yes, we are, for Farah’s birthday. But remember, we have to be quiet,” you said, putting a finger to your lips, and smiled when Lucy mimed you.
You were as quiet as you could be, which wasn’t terribly when a three year old was involved, but you couldn’t care less, not when you had your determined little helper — cracking eggs, dumping ingredients, and helping you to stir, she took her jobs very seriously.
Finally, when everything was ready and you’d set the table, you took Lucy’s hand and led her towards your bedroom. When you looked in, Farah was on her side facing you, and you bent down to whisper to Lucy. “Can you go wake her up?”
She nodded determinedly, and you watched her crawl up the bed, having to stifle a laugh at the way she draped herself over Farah, who made a valiant effort of pretending to be asleep.
“Farah,” Lucy whispered loudly, gently prodding at her cheek, and Farah cracked an eye, looking at Lucy before glancing over to you.
“There seems to be a possum on my shoulder.”
Lucy giggled, poking at her shoulder. “I’m not a poss’m!”
“No?” Farah asked, suddenly rolling as she scooped the girl up into her arms, her giggles only getting louder. “Then what’re you doing perched on me?”
“We made you b’eakfast!”
Farah gasped theatrically, and you thought your heart might burst. “You did? Why, how thoughtful! But what’s the occasion?”
“It’s your birthday!” she nearly shouted, throwing her arms in the air, and both you and Farah laughed.
“Well, it is indeed. Should we go have breakfast, then?”
Lucy cheered and scrambled off the bed, waiting impatiently as Farah rose. She’d barely tugged on a robe before Lucy grabbed her hand with both of hers, tugging her towards the kitchen. “Come on, come on!”
You were proud of the spread you’d made, but that pride only grew when you saw Farah’s face light up, studying it all with a look of awe. “All of this just for my birthday?”
“Only the best, darling,” you told her, and punctuated it with a kiss on her cheek.
You guided her to sit in her chair, where Lucy promptly crawled into her lap, pointing at the stack of pancakes you uncovered. “Mama cooked them, but I put the b’ueberries in, and, and I made the faces.”
“You did?” Lucy gave a proud nod of her head, and Farah smiled at her. “Well, you did a very good job, they look delicious. Will you share them with me?”
Breakfast was marvelous, not only for the food, but because it was the slow, lazy kind of morning with your family you rarely got to have, and you were going to relish it. Cups of tea sipped over a full plate of breakfast, your daughter and the woman you loved by your side, and nothing to worry about except for whether you should have another slice of toast or not. It was moments like these you knew you would cherish forever, and moments that told you the present you planned to give to Farah was absolutely right.
And you couldn’t wait any longer. As breakfast wound down, you reached out to wipe a bit of jam off of Lucy’s chin. “Why don’t you go get your present for Farah, pumpkin?”
“Okay!” She dashed off, and Farah gave you an amused look.
“I get presents?”
“Of course you do,” you told her, tapping her chin similarly as you had Lucy’s. “It’s your birthday, after all.”
The sound of little feet heralded Lucy’s return, and she crawled into Farah’s lap again before very seriously handing her a folded piece of paper. “I made you a picture.”
Farah melted as she unfolded it, giving Lucy an adoring look. “You did?”
Lucy nodded, then pointed to the figures she’d drawn one by one. “That’s you, that’s me, and that’s mama.”
You’d come to stand behind her chair as Lucy had given her the drawing, and now you bent down, wrapping your arms around her shoulders to give your present to her. “It’s a picture of her and her mamas.”
Farah snapped her head around to look at you, and after a moment her eyes widened in realization of what you were offering. “Really?”
You nodded, the same excitement and nerves from that morning bubbling up again. “If that’s something you would want,” you nodded again, unable to stop the smile spreading across your mouth, “I’m okay with it, and so is Lucy.”
“I…” she trailed off, at a loss for words, and then slowly she began to smile. “Really?”
You nodded again, sniffing as you felt a lump form in your throat, laughter of pure joy bubbling up next to it. “Will you be her mum with me?”
Farah let out a little laugh, her eyes bright with unshed tears as she nodded once, twice, then looked down at Lucy, who’d become preoccupied during all the talk. “Would it be alright if I was one of your mamas?”
“Yeah,” Lucy said, somewhat distractedly as she picked at the hem of her shirt, and then she looked up at Farah and grinned, suddenly wrapping her arms around her neck.
Farah let out a watery chuckle as she hugged her back, lingering a minute before she reached out a hand for you, pulling you closer, one arm still around Lucy. “This is… I—I can’t even begin to tell you.”
“I think I know what you mean,” you murmured, cupping her cheek, and realized she’d said those same words to you so long ago. “You’ve been her mama for a long time, Farah. You’ve been there for me and her since I first came here, and she’s been in love with you since the moment she met you — you’re our family, and you always will be. It was time we made that official.”
Tears fell over her eyelashes, and you tenderly wiped them away, feeling your own prick your eyes. It was more than just the title you knew, though that in and of itself was a momentous gift. It was the significance of it, though, of what it meant to your family, and what it meant for you and her. It was a promise, one guaranteed to last forever — it was an offering of life and love, thick and thin, good or bad, of unity and partnership and parentship.
It was a vow of ‘always’, of love and family for the rest of your days.
No matter what that might bring.
vent long personal heavy ok
it’s really helpless and crushing how im always cornered back to the same sad answer of how i should have considered the future earlier. my legs are in so much pain, im crying from how much my body aches and im simply told, you shouldn’t have been in your room all day — despite the fact i wasn’t allowed to go outside, and there was seldom walking space in our awful house. i was always sick, and always dizzy. it is crazy how dangerous black mold can be and yet we had a complete infestation of that and more. i want to consider pursuing a career ive had since i was a child though, im so passionate about art and i still am which might be a blessing considering how much commissions are hurting me mentally and perhaps physically .. opening several, several batches a year, constantly cramming them.. i think i want to do college. but i didn’t take on the scholarship i had when i graduated! i didn’t take the aid that covered my first year.. truthfully i didn’t think id make it so far. im insecure, im suicidal, im fragile. the past decade, i could barely get through anything without crying. it was humiliating to exist as i was in middle and highschool due to the living situation i was in, with no money and feeling i had no true support or even solidarity with my own mother, who must have been under much more stress than i was, trying to provide for her child. but still didn’t sympathize with me at all. the situation was hard, but i should have worked harder .. honestly, i do feel selfish for not having taken advantage of my moms effort to keep me in school, but ahhhhhh, i think it was just too much. i didn’t want to live like this. i was ashamed and disgusted, i still feel discomfort associating myself with that life. i cling to childhood and youth and traditions i missed out on because i lacked so much of that routine as a kid. is it so wrong to cry and want to die that you never got to experience a proper, loving christmas like everyone in your schools did ? no toys, no cable, only a tiiiny tiny laptop (like a 2008 chromebook-like thing) to keep me busy.. i wasn’t allowed to go outside of my own house to play with the dog, nor was I allowed to have anyone come over. wasn’t allowed to visit other people’s houses… not like i remember of that much anyways, as i barely remember anything from childhood except mortifying things.. i recently saw a way to connect to my mother by opening up. i confessed to her a lot of things as i was a mute child and never shared anything, never felt comfortable to — about how it affected me, about how i feel like im in stasis. i told her about what happened between me and my father, what happened between me and my brother, and i felt empty when she looked away from me and didn’t answer. No closure or comfort, and simply said that i should have taken advantage of my opportunities when I had them. And i have sabotaged myself. nothing else can explain for my disability, my mental health, and my plummeting education.
It took me 6 years to get an ID. 5 years to get a bank account. I don’t know how to learn how to drive and I am scared but I have to. i cannot go anywhere without someone’s help, primarily hers.
it feels too unfair, and i am still grieving for every year that passes by, even the previous year, that i am still locked in a house. i have never experienced much that i can call positive memories until i went to be with my best friend and my boyfriend. but that just made the memories painful too; when I think about how I have to end the trip. Board the plane or get in the car, and cry about how I have to go back home and be with my mother. it is not normal, to dread going back there so intensely. i wish i had a different life very badly, honestly, but a comfort i have now is that i think i am now strong emotionally and legally that i can make my own plans, manage my own bank, decide who i can visit without the permission of my mother. but. that is not because of my strength, and it is actually because she is sick. and she now has cancer as of september. I feel like i have been held in my mothers arms forced still for an entire two decades and the only reason she’s let go is because she is, her health is not well. And she has prepared me this week, a conversation of where to find her records, her files, her will, her passwords. Everything, if she passes away soon. i want to sleep forever, because i don’t want to wake up to a day wondering if it will happen soon. I don’t want to be in this position. I am scared. I wish I was with people I loved who loved me. i am shaking and sad. I wish I was too drained to cry anymore because I do it too much, for years. I wish I wasn’t such a sad person. I wish I wasn’t so miserable, I wish I had more happier things to think about when people ask me how I am. I feel miserably
I was gifted breath of the wild a couple years ago, now i am finally playing it. it helps i think. i really enjoy it most for the animal interaction and cooking and exploration.
OC test:Confessional pt1
[Warning: It’s depressing]
In the spirit of Mental Health Awareness Month, everyone shall confess a deeply personal thought to one other person not from their universe. It’ll just be those two people in the room.
Veronica:Crap…
xxxx
Mona:Yo.
Lucas:Uhh hey. Color me shocked. Why me?
Mona:I don’t know. Why not? Honestly not quite sure what to say. I’m pretty numb by most things or have aired out my baggage. I was groomed and sexually abused. Big whoop. That’s no secret.
Lucas:…That must’ve been a lot to deal with.
Mona:Not particularly. The only silver lining of it happening so young is most of what happened was too big to really comprehend entirely. It’s fucking awful for sure but better than…hmm. *sits down* …..Heh.
Lucas:*sits* Found something?
Mona:Not many know this but I’m not an only child. I have a little sister. Has to be twelve by now.
Lucas:Why isn’t she here?
Mona:If she was, Ahlai wouldn’t say anything. She’s broken. Like…shattered. Dear old mom just never let up for anything. By the time she turned seven, Ahlai was already gone. Hardly blinked let alone ate. I only remember that because it’s the reason I gave myself to leave her behind when I finally ran away. I was fourteen.
Lucas:…
Mona:…..
Mona:I’ve never pretended or acted like I’m a good person, but every time I think about that, I can’t shrug off how fucked up that was of me. Maybe that’s why I like sticking my neck out for street kids?
Lucas:Not sure how far a fourteen year old girl would’ve gotten if you had grabbed her. Sounds like an un-winnable situation. If it makes you feel better, escaping at all is a feat.
Mona:Heh, I knew I was right to pick you.
xxxxx
Sienna:Hey Frosty.
Summer:That’s…surprisingly a new one. Why me?
Sienna:You’re pretty gentle, like a snow rabbit.
Summer:Thank you? Well, I’m no stranger to therapy. I’ll listen to you.
Sienna:I can’t remember my real name, and that gets to me sometimes.
Summer:…..Sienna isn’t your real name?
Sienna:Hehe, no. It’s what Adam gave me, or…the name I gave myself? My memories are pretty hazy around that time and everything before. Not just my name, but family too. I remember the mines, bits and pieces anyways. I also know…I killed my brother. No face, voice, or even how, but I know it was me.
Summer:That’s…a lot to take in. I’m sorry you went through that.
Sienna:Anytime I try remembering, or even think about asking anyone who does know, my head starts feeling like it’ll split open. My heart races and I can’t stop shaking. Wearing jewelry freaks me out too; my body remembers those days vividly. Just not my brain.
Summer:Our minds can block out traumatic experiences as a way of protecting us. I only recently went back to the lake I nearly died. Immediately had a panic attack, my head remembering the moment I fell in. It was terrifying and I had to leave. There are times our body knows what’s best.
Sienna:Isn’t that just a nice way of saying we’re too weak to handle the truth?
Summer:…Sure feels that way sometimes, doesn’t it?
xxxxx
Canary:I take it you’re no stranger to Ruby drama?
Carmine:I could write a book about it. Rant.
Canary:When I needed a hero, a person who truly understood my sorrow, Ruby Rose wasn’t there. Not only that but she took away other people with her! I didn’t have to be a girl with limited memories of her dad and no scythe knowledge. I don’t even blame her for the death. I just….it would’ve felt like he was still there if she stood by me. *rubs eyes*
Carmine:Mo- Ruby is never at her best when she’s highly emotional. Sadly, being a mother, daughter, niece, anything of the sort is ripe with emotion. Ironically, it makes her the best hero for everyone else because she understands the weight of those familial ties.
Canary:I don’t hate her or anything. It just sucks. They say never meet your heroes. But when your hero is family…
Carmine:Disappointment comes with it. Yeah, it’s the worst. It’s ironic. You would think out of anyone it would be her family that sees her through rose tinted glasses.
xxxxx
Nick:Hi Yujin.
Yujin:What are the odds? I was gonna pick you too. Heh, same brain cell. *smiles*
Nick:Ha, guess so. Honestly I don’t have many things I haven’t aired out before. I’ve actually gone to therapy, so that helped. *lays on his back*
Yujin:I’m sensing a “but” is on its way.
Nick:Heh, but, I’ll admit I’m pretty upset with myself. I wish I could be rude. Like unapologetically rude. It’s annoying how many people look up to me or expect things. I’ve been surrounded by hundreds before but felt completely alone.
Yujin:I get that. *sits* I can’t count how many times someone said “Yang’s daughter” and I wanted to scream. Not our parents fault that they’re amazing, but it can blow.
Nick:How do you deal with it?
Yujin:It helps when my parents are there watching me do something. Yeah, I am Yang’s daughter, and she’s currently losing her mind over it. I love that.
Nick:Hmmm never looked at it quite like that. It is always nice seeing mom and dad cheer. Can’t undo blood. Guess it really is about changing perspective.
Yujin:Also I’m pretty sure anyone who actually cares about you would understand if you asked them to leave you alone. Anybody else are the actual rude people.
Nick:What’s your confession?
Yujin:Truthfully? I feel like a brat. Always have. People try consoling me and I’m aware bigger things in the world take priority, but I still get upset. I feel like I’m making things a hassle a times. What’s worse is when I’m ignorant about information so now I don’t know I’m making things rough. I want to be better than that.
Nick:Unfortunately…I’m just as lost as you are on that front.
Yujin:That’s okay. Thanks for listening to me. I appreciate it.
xxxxx
Aero:Of all the people to call…
Jael:You seem like a straightforward individual. Kinda like my sister.
Aero:Oh. *red* Thank you. Also I’m terrible at advice so…sorry in advance.
She leans forward until her forehead of his chest.
Jael:It’s alright. Neither is she. My sister lives a life of secrecy to the point she doesn’t actually exist, fake name and all. Mom is maiden and her family is gone, so she’s off the grid. Then there’s dear old dad, who officially dead more than two decades ago. The only person who really exists is me, and I’m basically on borrowed time.
Aero:….
Jael:*tearing up* If I don’t make something of myself, it’ll be like my family never existed. The name Taurus will remain infamous. *crying* It’s not fair. Not when so much more has happened.
Aero:*pats head* My mom believes things happen for a reason. If I were to guess, I’d say you’re on borrowed time because the world knows it’s still more than enough to leave your mark. So don’t sweat it. You’re ahead of schedule.
xxxxx
Tenzen:Helping people is hard.
Sparrow:Truer words have never been spoken. I take it you help a lot of people?
Tenzen:I try to, but I never really feel too good at it. I always feel like I don’t really understand their pain and it only makes things worse. I’m always outside looking in.
Sparrow:Kid, you have your entire life ahead of you. You’re not supposed to have all the answers and solve everyone’s problems. If it comes from a place of sincerity and love then you’re doing the best you can. I’m sure Yujin thinks you’re doing just fine.
Tenzen:I didn’t say it was-
Sparrow:Didn’t have to.
xxxxx
Jackie:What’s with the face?
Sparrow:I was just here. I must be popular.
Jackie:I can’t burden kids with my hang ups! You’re the obvious choice.
Sparrow:Do you have hang ups? You seem pretty put together.
Jackie:At my point in life, only one thing troubles me, my family. Each one of them as their own personal demons in one way or another. I’m doing my best to help them. Together we’re pretty happy. But…eventually we’ll all be apart. It scares me to think that if I were to get hurt and go away to soon, they wouldn’t handle it well. I made a home filled with love. What happens when I can’t give them it anymore?
Sparrow:…Well, did you forget your mother’s love?
Jackie:….*tearing up*
Sparrow: *smiles* That’s the thing about parents. Kids never forget them, for better or worse. You built a home with what you remembered love felt like.
Jackie:I’ve made so many mistakes. I wasn’t a good person for awhile. That love she gave didn’t stop the anger. My demons, they’ve done things.
Sparrow:So you’re just like my mom then and if your kids take after you, they’ll find their way eventually. Right back to the love.
Jackie:….Can I cry?
Sparrow:Heh, you need permission?
Jackie:No. Just giving you a heads up.
Sniffles turn into whimpering as Jacquelyn starts crying softly. Sparrow was kind enough to offer her a warm hug in her moment of stress. He really was raised well.
hey what the actual HELL happened to you in school??
Oh so much! You know how Tragedy + Time= comedy and all that? I have come to consider the whole situation to be kind of hilarious. Although like, trigger warning ahead for just like a WHOLE BUNCH of stuff
So here's my school stories! Lore!! Secret backstory!!
It starts off with my mom refusing to tell the school that I'm autistic because she didn't want me to "be treated differently." Which went about as well as one would expect, having zero supports and such. Teachers had no explanations for my behaviors other than that I was a "bad kid" and my "bad kid" reputation got me expelled from every school I ever went to. Their confusion over the situation is retroactively half funny, half embarrassing for them because I was real OBVIOUS about it.
So, either because being known as "The bad one" makes one a very easy scapegoat for any time something goes wrong, or because after a certain point I really just did not care to try anymore, I got expelled a lot. If someone got into a fight with me, it was instantly assumed that I started the fight because I had a long and storied history of getting into trouble and the other kids didn't. So it was kind of a guilty until proven innocent thing for me my whole life. That, paired with just plain old bad luck made my entire school experience pretty awful.
Second grade, got expelled for being generally disruptive and causing too many problems for the other kids. (Read: being visibly autistic with no supports)
Third grade we move to a different school, and I had a teacher SO LEGENDARILY BAD that my mom and several other parents from our class tried to sue her for it. She was this ex nun who believed really heavily in corporal punishment, but corporal punishment wasn't allowed in this school so instead she just got really really creative about it. Doing things that weren't /technically/ corporal punishment but would also hurt. The one I'm still mad about is that when a kid got into big trouble, she would do this prison justice thing where she would publicly exempt them from all school work in front of the class, and then go on this speech about how every other kid there was a worthless failure and their only chance at redemption would be to take their worth back by force. So that the other kids would all HATE that guy. Usually it led to playground fights, and universally she would turn a blind eye to it, until that kid fought back at which point they would immediately be sent to the principal. Other highlights of this are when I got tied to a pole outside by another kid and she left me there for the rest of the day (it rained) and her habit of punishing lactose intolerant kids by making them drink milk until they got sick. She usually wouldn't let them leave the classroom afterwards and more than once somebody shit themselves in class and she told them sitting in it was their punishment. I will remind you for context that third graders are ages 8-9. So. Pure evil. Unironically I hope she died painfully. I hate that woman more than pretty much anyone, ever. Although it IS funny that I have an honest to god tragic backstory and nemesis! Attempting to take her to court over this fell through, and she continued to teach after I left. Idk what happened to her since we moved away.
Funny enough, I didn't actually get expelled that year. Although from the fights she instigated getting out of hand, I did wind up in juvenile hall for a couple months.
So Fourth grade at that same school, and obviously I have completely lost all faith 100% in the school system by now. This is when the truant officer showed up because I was just straight up not going to school anymore. I had started skipping and hiding out in weird places to avoid having to go to class the year before, and now it's a habit. So my mom gets tried for my truancy, I start going to school again for her sake after missing a Huge chunk of the year. I was bored, I had no reason to try since I was already presumed guilty whether I did anything or not, and ai didn't want to be there. So obviously I caused problems on purpose. I got expelled after getting caught altering the grade book (which I had been getting away with for months btw) my mom actually wasn't mad about that one. Her words were "If they didn't catch you for that long, it's kind of on them. Feels pointless to expell you at this point" since it was within the like, final four weeks of the school year that they caught me.
I'd been banned from the two public schools in the area by this point, so out options were kinda private school or move away. So for fifth grade I went to Catholic school! I only lasted like two months before I got expelled for distributing banned books. (I had Strong Opinions about censorship being wrong, so I went down to the bookstore and will all my saved up birthday money bought a bunch of copies of books banned by the school and started to secretly distribute them. Eventually someone ratted on me)
Sixth grade, we try a DIFFERENT private school. This one is kinda weird, out of the way. It's run by three guys out of a series of trailers. One of those three guys was this southern baptist fundamentalist preacher guy who was my fucking arch nemesis while I was there. I wasn't afraid to publicly fight this guy. He was also just generally an asshole. He like, didn't believe in medicine because illness was God's will and to resist that was sinful, or whatever. Some real whack ass shit. He also made a point of serving common allergens (like peanuts and wheat) to "Weed out the sinners" as someone with a peanut allergy his class sent me to the hospital THREE TIMES. I also only lasted like three months in this school because it sucked. The three teachers were amoral assholes, and I was really heavily alienated from the other students for being 1) New in town 2) Non religious (last year's school experience made sure of that) 3) Weird 4) Visibly queer so I was getting bullied a lot. So for context, this was going in in a town with less than 10,000 people in it, deep in southern Mississippi. So little redneck kids bringing their bigass hunting knives to school is a surprisingly common occurrence. One of the kids who didn't like me brought a knife like that to school one day, and I don't exactly remember how it all went down too vividly, but we got into a fight out behind the school, and I wound up stabbing him with his own knife. That was my last expulsion and after that I just straight up quit. School never did a single good thing for me, so I just. Wasn't going back.
It was a good thing too, because that super small school with the trailers? It was revealed like two or three years ago that it was owner and operated by CHILD PREDATORS who established the school to scope out targets. Dodged a bullet with that one.
I actually don't have a highschool degree. I 36'd the ACT though, so ¯\_()_/¯ Colleges didn't care so why should I?
I'm pretty much motivated 100% by spite now, so I'm getting my teaching license to go Do It RIGHT!! Because the folks teaching when I was a kid had no fucking clue what they were doing. So that's like. What's up with me. 4 expulsions in six years. Abysmally bad luck combined with a soup of ableism and many a close brush with the school to prison pipeline. So I decided that the system was fucked and the only righteous course of action would be to go in and do it right myself. I'm halfway through my certification right now. No one hates the American school system more than I do. I've never known anyone else who was as much of a "Bad kid" as I was, and it's a perspective that I don't see a lot of understanding for either. I like fully thought that I was the devil until I was like 16 or so and suddenly gained enough frontal lobe to be able to look at the situation critically and go "W A I T A M I N U T E" >:V
But I DO find a lot of comedy in the very real image of like.... A grizzled and world weary nine year old that has been in more brawls than you can count and has been to fucking jail. But as soon as this kid speaks it's just a several hour long recitation of the entirety of Jacques Custeau: The Ocean World. Little seven year old committing straight up felonies when forced to be in public, but the minute you leave them unattended they are just peacefully farming tomatoes.
Also another fun fact, through the small town rumor mill there is now an urban legend about a knife murder happening in one of the local schools and now they're all supposedly haunted that was almost DEFINITELY about me since it first sprung up shortly after the incident. So I can now cross "Be an Urban Legend" off of the bucket list
Honestly as like, awful as some of it was, WAY too much played out like some kind of fun fictional adventure. Like I was literally plotting to get an evil teacher fired and collecting evidence, and I had a little notebook where I was recording everything she did with times and dates on it. Roald Dahl type shit right there. I GUESSED THE GRADEBOOK PASSWORD and then went in and ALTERED MY GRADES and did this like a secret mission for MONTHS and then when I got caught I didn't even get punished because my mom thought what I did was cool. This kind of stuff never happens in real life but here I am. Local urban legend, knife fight winning extrordinaire. So I don't think it's too bad. At least it's not boring!
I don't a hundred percent think it's valid to call myself traumatized by the clinical neglect and possible gaslighting I went through since I was a child but also I know denial is a thing tm
When I was young, like really little like seven or so, I was misdiagnosed, so I was given the wrong meds for eleven years that once even interacted with antibiotics and nearly killed me, other kids didn't exactly like hanging out with the kid that talked about going to psychiatrists on the weekly and to a therapist after school, I used to think if I couldn't buy my meds and take them everyday I'd just idk blow up or something, worst of all the incongruence of having the wrong label on me and going through all the shame and ableism without the treatment part made me start gaslighting myself, I never felt suicidal but it was like everyone else expected me to be and somewhere a long the way I was just expecting to die young anyway even if I had anxiety attacks whenever I read about the statistics and never really pictured any way in which it could happen I'd just think of how little people would mourn me and say fuck them I'll be here for as long as I can just to prove them wrong while still expecting to lose some kind of abstract fight that people projected on me
Now I got the right diagnosis and it is such a better fit, the pandemic made it really easy to test with certainty where my brain would go if left by itself and it was stability like I was told I could never attain. Since then I'm happy I'm thriving every self esteem issue I used to have is gone every guilt over expenses I used to feel is gone I have a solid support system and it's been that way for a couple years now
I just see the effects still linger in some small things. I still don't drink when my friends do even if I know it wouldn't actually mess me up that bad, I don't really know how to begin imagining a future past thirty or so for myself and changed career paths already due to it, I never thought I could have any romantic relationships despite wanting to until now and I find myself so scared something will happen to me and I'll die a virgin, people that grew up around me still show up sometimes via mutual friends or social media or attending the same college and I so desperately wish I could explain myself or that they could know me for who I actually am because I'm also curious about them in all honesty but I know in their minds I'm just the poor crazy kid and there's no way to suddenly approach them without reinforcing that, me and my classmates needed the institution to intervene in our class the other day and they sent us directly to a therapist to explain the situation and it wasn't even about me and I wasn't even alone but being there again after so many school counselors office that did the opposite of helping me I couldn't look the guy in the face even when he wasn't an old white dude and actually helped us it still left me unresponsive and jumpy when someone else I barely know got too close and needing to hang on to a friend's arm and I got dizzy and had my thoughts on loop for hours and barely got home being able to properly speak again and I kept shortly saying I was fine and trying to steer away from the others (which I never do) just because attention at that moment would be awful
And I still think it was just me trying to fool myself into making my existence more interesting than it is, like a kid pretending to be a tragic tortured soul, like I was acting out so all my friends there would pity me despite the fact I usually hate being looked at like a fragile little thing that needs help
It's difficult for me to believe the doctor would be stupid to the point of not noticing every atypical factor in matching me to that first diagnosis, the age especially, but also pretty much everything about my personality, he was either fucking arrogant enough to believe he molded me into "one of the good ones" or he did it on purpose because it's easy money when you lie to family so they think they'll have to go to you forever. I moved out of my parents as I cut contact with him and I still remember how invested he seemed in vetoing my decision and insisting that leaving me alone was a terrible idea like he never wanted me to be independent and if we asked I'm sure he'd make it seem perfectly sound and well intentioned
My mom still says I should understand they were doing their best with what they knew, that it's not their fault gender discrimination is a thing that may have weighted in favor of the wrong diagnosis in the past (even if they show no indication of growing out of those views), and wanted to help and worst of all she said that I should be grateful. I don't want to be grateful I want to stay spiteful and never have to talk to someone that looks at me like that again
I'm thinking of changing therapists to one that shares my neurodivergence and understands this stuff, part of me thinks I should work on this repulsion of being a patient and giving someone authority over my mental wellbeing ever again, and another part want to cut the cost entirely, glad to be bitter and dodgy of medical professionals forever as petty as the reason I have for it may be
I mean this in the nicest most genuine way I can but I don't know how I'll feel reading a copy paste you're valid response either It'll probably just reinforce me thinking I'm full of shit and trying to feel special if I had to guess
Hi anon,
I'm so sorry about what you've been through.
I can see how this misdiagnosis has had a huge effect on you, not only your social life but how you feel about yourself. I'm so glad you were eventually able to get the correct diagnosis, that must be so relieving. But of course I can also see how this diagnosis doesn't undo the effects of the misdiagnosis, and how there's still things you're struggling with. Particularly, with growing up not expecting to live long, it may feel unfamiliar or overwhelming to think much farther ahead in your life, or even know what to expect.
I also understand that want to be closer to the people in your life, and to not only feel like you know them on an intimate level but that they can truly know who you are, what you've been through, and how those past experiences shape the person you are today.
I feel that if you believe your friends think you're crazy, then perhaps you deserve some new friends. You deserve friends who are patient and understanding, especially after what you've been through. I can also see how your mom's outlook on the situation is damaging to you, as she seems to be trying to justify things that don't need to be justified.
It makes sense why you may want to change therapists, it can be good to have someone who understands your experiences more personally and can thus answer you from a more accurate angle. But I also understand why you may be hesitant about trying, because you've had negative experiences with medical professionals.
The thing is that trauma is defined not by what happened, but by how you responded to it psychologically. In other words, if you feel traumatized by what happened, then it's trauma. It does matter what happened, but it doesn't determine whether or not you're "allowed" to be traumatized.
I hope I could help. Please let us know if you need anything.
i know it is in part how much i hate new years but the last several days have just been like ooh i am so close to snapping and everything makes me so grumpy so easily
like it's hard with the new cat bc she's so tiny like grace like it's very bittersweet and i love her of course and she's very different but it does feel just like her weight and like i didn't really expect mom to find one that tiny. and then our kitten who's not a kitten has been very distressed about the new cat and not eating - he actually got an appetite stimulant today which helped - obviously it's just due to his mood but that ofc reminds me of grace at the very end and trying to get her to eat and how awful it felt when she wouldn't
and then i went to my cousins' over the weekend to give my godson his presents and i adore spending time with the kids, bc they're so fun, but EVERY TIME they're a little rambunctious, especially the second youngest, and i get it with the way my temper is i would not be able to handle that, hence why i do not want kids, bc i don't want to be that mean just bc i'm frustrated and hi yelling doesn't help change their behavior lol if it did they wouldn't act up, but yeah like every time i go over there, there's yelling, and like. idk i am family i guess but even then idt my parents would've yelled at me in front of any sort of company. admittedly, i didn't really misbehave i guess but even my brother who went through a period of time in his teen years where he got into a lot of trouble, i can't imagine anyone would've yelled at him if he had friends over or something. like for all my beefs with my parents, of which there are many, at least they wouldn't do that. and maybe the kids are like, resilient or whatever, but i'm just like. okay don't do that on my account idc if they act up as long as they're not hurting anyone, but maybe it's just like that regularly who can say.
and there are certain things like they often do the "oh you want to take the kids with you" type of joke and i'm just like they could really internalize that and feel like. unwanted you know. idk i guess they're the only people i know with four kids but hey my brother has three kids and tbf one of them is much older than the others but like, he and his wife can be stern if need be without yelling and stuff. and i'm sooo bad at extricating myself from situations, i mean since i only see them a couple times a year, i WANT to spend the time, because it feels right and like i said, i think the kids are fun and goofy and everything but it's hard when their behavior goes a little too far and they get yelled at. plus i do figure it's in part the excitement of seeing someone they don't regularly see so like maybe their daily life is a lot calmer lol
and ofc with all this excess stress thinking about work stuff and dealing with personal stuff etc etc the numbness in my leg has been a lot more constant and it's just like ugh why won't that just go away if there's not an answer other than stress lol like does my body not have enough stress reactions like sometimes it's getting lightheaded or nauseous AND i've been having an itch on my back that i think could be stres related like listen just PICK ONE okay i do not need my body doing multiple things because i'm stressed lol that just makes everything worse
anyway i was so close to having the cry i needed the other day like right there and it was perfect bc it was right before my shower bc i don't need anybody KNOWING i'm crying and then i got distracted so it didn't come through and now i'm still waiting for it
wildflower
pairing: cedric diggory x hufflepuff!reader
summary: you weren't too sure what to think when a new eye candy transfers to hogwarts and becomes the new seeker of the hufflepuff's quidditch team but you realize in time that he is all of what you hoped for.
word count: 3.7k
tags: @specialagentsoftie
note: so this is all just a bunch fluff. i'm not sure how i feel about it in terms of cringey and hope y'all like it! figured i'd post this anyways either way though lol. i made up the way reader and cedric met at hogwarts so, it's non-canon from the movie.
another note: italics are flashbacks! :)
Tumblr media
it was cold.
you could see everybody’s breath in the air outside and knew it was a crime to be out and about now with freezing and chilly weather.
the snow outside coated the ground by inches and the black coats zippered up and wrapped around you only helped so much. you were the type to freeze easily and the climate at hogwarts didn't help your situation at all.
minutes ago before you walked outside, you knocked on the door to his dorm after surveying the hufflepuff’s common room and noticed there weren't very many people around. and when cedric opened the door after you rapped on it a few times—he took in the view of your body wrapped around your blanket before pulling you into his room.
pathetically enough, you were shivering in the halls even with your mitten covered hands stuffed in the pockets of your coat. you weren't about to admit the doubled up socks on each of your feet either underneath the knee-length boots you wore today.
"are you cold?" cedric successfully taunted you when you reached your arm out of the pocket of your jacket and then under the blanket to slap his arm. he hissed and glared your way playfully while rubbing his arm dramatically.
you shrugged with a smirk on your lips and he plopped down onto his soft bed. “don’t get too comfortable.” he suggested when noticing you trying to sneakily get underneath his covers.
“what i’d do for one of those thermal blankets the muggles use.” you sighed dreamingly while watching him walk towards his closet.
“imagine having a postal company deliver the package to hogwarts? dumbledore would have an aneurysm.” cedric replied and you couldn’t help yourself when imagining the scenario playing out in your mind.
he turned to the side to admire your smile while you were a little distracted while pulling out a coat. then he closed the closet up and walked back over, holding it in your direction to offer an extra to put over your body. you gladly took it with a smile. "thanks ced."
cedric backed up a few steps and brushed a hand through his brunette hair. not being able to help himself he joked, “can’t have you walking around with your blanket wrapped around you. your height already makes you look so adorable.”
you got off from the bed when he exaggerated with your blanket in hand and scoffed. cedric bit his lip nervously while continuing to back up before he felt the wall pressed against him.
he rubbed the back of his nervously while you held the blanket up to his height and above your own head. “i’m just kidding.” he gulped before you took it and put it over his face.
when he tugged it down from his face he spotted you innocently standing by the door with his jacket around you. “i was going to leave it here anyway. just put it on the bed and i’ll come get it later after we get back.”
while you zippered it up you noticed this particular jacket was the one that you often saw him wearing before he ended up buying a new one for the upcoming winter that you were suffering in now.
and it was longer than the one you had previously put on about twenty minutes ago so, you couldn't argue with him on that steal.
"alright.” he laughed and added with a more serious tone. “oh and by the way—you don't need to thank me. you're my best friend, wildflower."
today was the first quidditch match of the season and you were sitting at the edge of your seat in anticipation. the hufflepuffs didn't score well last season and you were hoping they wouldn't come out with last place again for the year.
y/g/b/f (your girl best friend) sat down on the stands next to you with an umbrella in her hands. you turned and looked at it with a confused face. but she just smiled at your contemplating thoughts and looked up at the sky once before supplying you with an answer.
“well it looks bright now but i have a feeling it’ll rain later.” she always had a suspicion for when it was going to rain or snow and you never second guessed her because every single time she was right.
“did you know we’re having a new seeker play on the team today? i believe he’s going to be captain too if he plays his cards right this game.” she asked. you didn’t know that.
“wait is he the new guy everybody is talking about? i heard the rumors but you know how they are. i didn’t want to take it seriously until i saw it with my own eyes.” you stated and she nodded.
“yeah he’s a transfer i think but i’m not too sure. his name is cedric diggory though.” after her reply, you glanced around the stands to see if anybody had diggory signs for the game but with no avail you sighed. before you could respond you felt a few droplets on your shoulder.
your friend gave you a smart-ass grin and popped out the umbrella to hold it over the both of you. “guess we’ll see how good he is.” you mumbled before seeing the players come up to the playing area with their brooms.
butterbeer was pretty popular during the winter season. many students from school usually went and got some to help regulate their body temperature and keep warm.
everybody else must have gotten the same memo because you were inside the three broomsticks now for some butterbeer and it was crowded.
almost every table was filled with peers and that’s probably why you didn’t see many people in the school. with just one glance around the area, you could already tell the divided area’s of where each school was seated right away.
your tables were to the left area, the slytherins must have come earlier because they grabbed the back ones, some of the ravenclaw’s were off to the right, while harry and the other gryffindor’s had the middle area.
cedric nudged your side to grab your attention and nodded towards the hufflepuff area. “want to grab us some seats and i’ll get the drinks?” he asked and you nodded. “sure, could you get me a snack too if you don’t mind?”
he smiled and tucked his hands into the pockets of his jeans. “i suppose i could.” cedric walked away with a wink and you shook your head knowing he was just humoring you.
little did you know he already had planned to get you something else even before the two of you left the dorms. it had gotten to the point where asking him for little things hadn’t bothered you because you reciprocated all of the time.
but sometimes cedric would give you little excuses when it was your turn to pay, just so he could end up paying for whatever you guys were having or getting. he always spoiled you.
"ah the golden girl is here." hermione scoffed and watched you walk towards the hufflepuff area. your other best friend was seated already and started talking to you when you sat.
the brunette from the red colored house didn't particularly dislike you since you were always nice. sometimes you chatted with her while working on a project that you were paired for. then other times you gave her a soft smile when catching her eye while walking in the halls towards your next class.
she definitely couldn’t help but respect and admire you.
but the reason she didn’t put herself out there and try to befriend you was because you were one of the girls known in school for your smartness, quick reflexes, and witty attitude.
when people from school talked about you and referred to you as the golden girl instead of your name most of the time—it wasn’t that you were golden per-say but the fact that it matched up perfectly with the school’s color that you sorted it.
hufflepuff was known for its represented yellow color.
and there’s no doubt about it that hermione was also known around the school. but, she felt it was for all of the wrong reasons. despite not having it any other way as one of harry's best friends, she wondered if not for him that in an alternate lifetime that she would be you.
“why is she wearing cedrics jacket?” ron asked after following hermione’s stare. harry thumped him on the back of his head and then shook his own. “why does it matter?” the one with a thunderbolt on his forehead replied.
“well it is interesting, isn’t it?” the brunette said in defense of ron’s question. the one who didn’t seem curious at all took a sip of the butterbeer in front of him.
he licked his lips, thinking then replied to them with a response. “i mean it’s not our business but it is an odd find now that you pointed it out. maybe he’s just being friendly?”
“as if! cedric has had a crush on y/n since he met her. she’s just oblivious to it all,” she paused and tapped her chin. “—or is she?” ron gasped at her accusation but took a sip of his own drink before she could hear his outburst.
harry noticed her getting riled up once again and sighed. “well i don’t know what else to say. maybe you should just introduce yourself already and ask her instead of me.” he shrugged and hoped to end the conversation there.
you knew exactly who cedric diggory was when he swiftly passed by the hufflepuff area during the game. of course, he was wearing yellow.
the game has been going on for a decent amount of time now and he was stacking up the scores on the quidditch board—easily passing by the score of the gryffindor’s team.
cedric was undoubtedly the new eye candy for the whole school with the gasps and ‘awes’ from the other girls sitting in the stand. your friend was so busy watching harry that she didn’t catch the commotion.
you didn’t really pay attention to him to get a good glance at his face so, you thought he was just another arrogant rich boy and rolled your eyes.
what you didn’t notice was the way it was like a slow-motion love at first sight situation for him when he went by. since it stopped raining through the middle of the game he was able to catch a quick view of you.
the week wasn’t done yet so it was possible he’d be seeing more of you in another class he hadn’t had yet. and cedric hoped you were because he couldn’t help but look over in your direction throughout the game to catch another glimpse of your face.
it was still humid outside and you tried wiping your makeup a few minutes ago since it was under your eyes now, but you only smudged it further. your robe was drenched with your wavy and half-dried hair now lying down the back of it.
but he didn’t care what you thought about yourself because he knew without a doubt that you were the prettiest girl there.
“cedric’s looking pretty good today.” y/g/b/f voiced for the first time today. you played with the napkin in your hand while trying to get a glimpse of cedric.
“i don’t think you would know even if he was—since you spend all your time looking at harry.” cedric was up to the counter now waiting for your butterbeer and food.
“uh huh. don’t think i haven’t admired cedric before from afar though.” after a moment of not answering her, y/g/b/f noticed that you weren’t paying attention. you knew exactly what she was hinting towards.
cedric did look good.
his hair had that ‘just woken up’ style to it and he always managed to look even more attractive then he should have. the yellow scarf wrapped around his neck was the one that came with every hufflepuff’s supplied uniform clothing.
he usually wore it when you sat with him in potions on a chilly morning and you caught yourself wanting to take it off of him and wear it sometimes.
he always smelled good and it comforted you in ways a best friend shouldn’t have the ability to.
you seemed to have let your guard down and stared longer then you should have which confirmed what y/g/b/f already knew. “i knew it!” she chuckled and stated more loudly than the last comment to snap you out of the zoned out state you were in.
“know what?” you asked while placing the napkin back down on your table.
cedric was reaching the table and you wanted the conversation to end quickly. you usually dragged out conversation topics like this so you had time to think of another one to distract her with. but, she always found a way to circle it back around again.
you had to shut it down before he could hear, already knowing exactly what she wanted to talk about again.
“i’ll tell you later before our curfew.” y/g/b/f smirked and you sighed knowing she would in fact take the time out of her night to find you before bed. lucky you.
“hey y/g/b/f. how has your day been?” he asked your other friend while sitting down and placing your refreshments in front of you and then doing the same with his.
she grinned at you then glanced over at him, “pretty good i guess if it wasn’t for this weather i would say great. how about you? and how’d you manage to get this one out?” she gestured towards you, causing you to roll your eyes.
here we go again.
you were walking down the path back to the hogwarts dorms with y/g/b/f and some others. there was going to be a small celebration in the hufflepuff’s common room and other students were trying to hurry back without raising suspicions with any professors nearby.
“hey, i’ll be right back y/n/n. i see luna and i’m going to go ask her if she has a hair tie.” she said and pointed to the curly knots that she had on her shoulders.
you nodded and continued along the path while she walked over to the other side. it was quiet for a moment and you surveyed the peaceful area, a few feet over in the grass was a small patch of flowers.
you were about to take a quick look at them before feeling someone tap your shoulder. it was sudden and you couldn’t help but quickly move to the side and form a fist. you were about to throw it but stopped when you stared wide-eyed at the person who scared you.
cedric felt awful and only after he startled you did he realize that you were looking off in the distance of the area. the way you jumped though seemed that you were quick on your feet and he couldn’t help but smirk at the new name he had for you.
“hey i’m sorry for startling you wildflower but i just wanted to introduce myself. i’m cedric diggory.” he introduced with a panty-dropping smile.
you weren’t sure if it was some kind of joke so you treaded carefully. “uh it’s okay, it’s my fault really for not paying attention but i’m y/n y/l/n. nice to meet you ced.”
cedric held out his hand for you to shake and you took it, giving him a firm shake. after you let go he smirked and questioned. “ced, huh?”
he crouched down to pick up a flower that you were looking at earlier and it reminded you to ask, “wildflower, huh?” you met his statement equally and folded your arms together so they were across your chest to look more tough.
his cheeks tinted a minor shade of pink and tried to hide his embarrassment by ducking down and ignoring your question. instead he glanced back up to tuck a hair behind your ear and then placed the flower there.
“yes, wildflower.”
and how could you argue with him when he was being so sweet?
the two of you made it back to the common room after an hour of eating, then chatting with cedric and your other best friend. he was sitting on the bed with you sitting next to him.
you’ve been sitting for only about a minute or so—only enough time to shrug off your jackets and place them on the desk chair between that time after walking back to his dorm.
“would you like to lay down for a few minutes?” cedric asked when he noticed the tiredness shown clear as day on your face.
“sure” you agreed and you laid down while he shook your blanket out for the two of you to use. his eyebrows scrunched together when he realized it wouldn’t make much of a difference in comfort with how small it was.
you chuckled watching him trying to maneuver it around and he glanced your way with a smirk of defeat. “hmm, seems this blanket is a little small. would you like to go under the covers?”
cedric was giving into what you wanted earlier before the two of you left and he knew that too. the three broomsticks' food was delicious as always and you just wanted to relax for a few minutes after getting teased by your friend.
he grinned watching you get comfortable after the both of you were situated under the sheets and yellow comforter. there was a hufflepuff patch ironed onto it and you rubbed your thumb over it while laying down.
it wasn’t that awkward since you’ve fallen asleep in his arms a couple of times before already. class exams were frustrating and took a lot out of the students so he took comfort in you and vice versa when there was some down time during the weekends throughout the school year.
with an arm around you—he pulled you close to the point where you could feel his warm breath along your neck. “i don’t think you realize how much i treasure these moments y/n/n.”
he spoke breathlessly and you gulped slowly. you were dumbfounded with how seriously he said that. as if it had some kind of hidden meaning behind it. “me too.” you agreed and wondered if he would leave it at that.
but you knew better and cedric never left well alone when he wanted to get a point across. he turned your body slowly with the arm he had around your middle and you faced him with confusion.
he glanced down once before looking back up and continued on with his confession while staring into your doe eyes—a color he deemed his favorite the day that he met you.
“i’ve been fighting myself for a while on whether or not i should tell you this because i didn’t want my feelings to ruin our friendship. i’d rather be your friend than not be a part of your life at all. and i always look forward to seeing you e-everyday.” he paused when his voice cracked.
after cedric cleared his throat he continued, “and i totally understand if you don’t share the same feelings with me but i just couldn’t go on another day without telling you how i—” you cut him off by leaning in and brushing your lips against his.
he moved closer on the bed, so his skin was touching yours. cedric wanted to get as close to you as he possibly could. your hand swept through his brunette curls and you surprised him by tugging it.
he never knew what you were going to do and his friends teased him that you were a wildcard, to which he’d correct them and say you were his wildflower.
cedric smirked into the kiss and you groaned knowing he was being a smart-ass. but in return, he shocked you when he placed a hand delicately on your cheek to cup it rather softly.
he rubbed your cheek while your hand massaged his curls and then moved them downwards to the nape of his neck.
cedric pushed the hair back from your neck with his hand and then placed it back so his thumb splayed across on your cheek in a loving gesture. and you only wanted him closer after feeling sensitive about the whole astonishment that still had you stunned to the core.
you tugged the collar of his shirt and he pulled away with puffy, red lips and a smile. “what’s wrong?”
“i don’t know, i’m just emotional.” you voiced squeakily and full of embarrassment about it. cedric shook his head and before patting his chest, he held up the comforter over the both of you and let the minimal cold air in.
“oh, baby it’s okay. come here and let's cuddle a little before curfew.”
you bit the bottom of your lip and nodded, giving him a smile in return to the one he gave you and then crawled onto him. “i think i like baby better.” you voiced and laid on his chest with your head over his heartbeat.
he let go of the comforter when he noticed you were settled and tugged it firmly around both of your bodies. “better then what?” he asked.
“wildflower.” you admitted and hummed nervously while awaiting his response. you felt cedric shake his head and he put his arms around your body so you were pressed firmly against him before he kissed your forehead.
“you’ll always be my wildflower.” you closed your eyes after giving him a quick kiss on the cheek in response.
after a moment of laying back down you could feel his chest rising up and down in an odd pattern so, you put your head up to see him laughing again at you.
“what now?” you questioned trying to keep a serious facial expression but failing when he grinned.
“guess you got what you wanted, hmm?” cedric said—referring to the fact that you were finally under the comforters and you smirked.
“of course i always do. including finally getting you, ced.”
Miraculous Rant.
Where the hell do I begin…
Season 1:
The show was decent in season 1. Some episodes were just mindless filler and probably weren’t needed in the grand scheme of things but they helped us get introduced to the characters, we got to know the plot and the world our characters inhabit. It was good. The love story between Adrien and Marinette was cute and off to a touching and fluffy start.
Season 2:
This season was immediately better than season 1. It had character development, it went more into detail about the lore surrounding the Miraculous and we got to learn more about our characters and their families and the villian’s motives. (HM really went from “I wanna destroy the world” to “I wanna wake my wife from the coma she’s in”).
We got to see new heroes which was fun! We got new characters like Luka and Kagami.
The season finale was epic! The Miraculous team all taking down all the previous villains in the show was awesome. At the end we even got Mari kissing Adrien on the cheek. It was great! (Even though it clearly reset itself in season 3 cause it’s never mentioned again)
I really enjoyed season 2 and it’s probably my favourite out of the 4.
Season 3:
Season 3 was kinda good and kinda bad. We had some great episodes but this is where the show took the wrong turn.
Marinette lost some of her character in season 3. This was the start of her descent into being the Queen of Mary Sues. It’s also where she was crowned the Queen of Stalkers! Her character took a fucking nose dive in this season. We had so many moments that just creeped me the fuck out.
1. The ENTIRETY of Puppeteer 2 🤢🤢🤢 I could not stand that episode. When we reached the dreaded statue scene I physically had to pause it like 10 times. That scene takes about 3 minutes to watch… it took me about 20. I cringed so fucking hard because of the secondhand embarrassment I was feeling. That was not sweet, it wasn’t romantic, it wasn’t the least bit cute… it was a train wreck! It was creepy and stalkerish and it’s a wonder Adrien even spoke to her again after that atrocity!
2. LB delivering the present in Chat Blanc. Two words: STALKER BEHAVIOUR!!! I genuinely could not believe my eyes when I saw LB run her hand across everything in his room and then actually SNIFF Adrien’s pillow. Like WTF!!! 🤮 I’m pretty sure whoever was responsible for that scene clearly thought it was the equivalent of when someone gets their S/O’s jumper or something and it still smells like them. But this turned it up to the nth degree and way passed the line of sanity.
Adrien was extremely under-utilised in this season. He didn’t really do anything. The only episodes we got about him didn’t really focus on him. ‘Felix’ whilst focusing on Adrien’s family didn’t really feature him. ‘Party Crasher’ while a beautiful mess was more about Mari trying to get into the party than the party itself. ‘Chat Blanc’ again focused more on Mari trying to fix her mistake.
We got even more heroes in season 3, not in the right order but they were there. It was fun seeing everyone’s transformations.
Season 3 was also the season of destroying redemptions. The big one obviously being Chloe. Season 2 was setting up this amazing redemption for her and before it could go anywhere it was wiped off the face of the earth during the finale (and don’t worry we’ll get to that dumpster fire later). Gabriel also had any remaining sympathy ripped away from him. How did the guy who stopped Gorizilla from letting Adrien die when he only thought he was CN go from that to using his son like fucking baseball in Chat Blanc when he knew his son was CN. Like I knew you were a shit father but you still cared about Adrien in some way shape or form but after that episode I can see I was clearly mistaken!
Before we get to the finale I want to talk about probably my 2 least favourite episodes from this season: Desperada and Reflekdoll
Desperada:
I fucking hated this episode! The only good thing was Luka getting to be Viperion, other than that this episode was awful!
Marinette was a selfish cringey bitch. Completely ignoring Luka to gush about Adrien to Jagged. Brushing Luka off as soon as Adrien turns up. Immediately cuddling up to Aspik and flirting with him when she needed to focus on the akuma (something which she has told CN not to do many times before)
Adrien, I love you kid but Jesus Christ you were a dumbass in this episode! Aspik’s design was terrible! Aspik himself was awful. I know Adrien tried his best but dude you were given the Black Cat miraculous for a reason! He shouldn’t have tried to be Aspik but even when he did he should’ve called it quits after like 5 resets not 25,913 times.
The only person with a brain this episode was Luka. So well done guitar boy, gold star!
Reflekdoll:
This episode was annoying! It was basically the start of the Marinette can do no wrong streak! When they have to swap miraculous I was happy cause it meant we got to see new outfits and see how they each handle the different powers. It would also serve as a way to get LB and CN to see what their partners role is first hand. Until we actually get to it…
LadyNoire is of course amazing and needs no introduction to using this new miraculous that she’s never used before. She’s cocky and confident and basically just LB in Chat’s costume with his powers.
Mister Bug on the other hand is just useless. He struggles with this new miraculous (like anyone would!) and is stupid and goofy. He has to rely on LadyNoire to solve the lucky charm. They swapped miraculous so shouldn’t that mean that Mister Bug should get the lucky vision and the creative powers that the earrings give him.
Overall Reflekdoll is awful. It was shitty writing and the start of Adrien getting the short end of the stick.
And now the season 3 finale… Just what the fuck. That is my only reaction: what the fuck!
Chloe you poor fucking child! What did they do to you!!! So much potential SQUANDERED!!!!
What was the point in bringing in all these different superheros with unique skill sets, costumes and transformations if you were just going to immediately reveal them to the main villian so they can’t be used again. That’s stupid! If you wanted the shock value that is “Oh no HM knows some of the heroes identities!” Then keep it as only some. Have like Max, Kim and Kagami outside trying to find somewhere to hide but unfortunately they get hit. Or Nino and Alya are hiding but the windows open and they get hit. Have some of the heroes hide so they’re fine! Taking away every ally of LB and CN’s was a stupid move! (Even if they wanted Alya to become a spy have her as part of the like 4 that get revealed or something, it’s not that difficult)
Season 3 was 50/50 for me
Season 4:
So I know season 4 isn’t even halfway through yet but so much is wrong with this season already that I need to vent!
So my biggest problem with this season of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybitch and Rena Rouge, I mean Rena Furtive… shit, Chat Noir! Is that CN is basically pointless! Adrien has been flung over a rainbow and is only remembered when he’s needed as
1. Marinette’s love interest
2. Someone for LB to shout at
3. A plot device
He has basically been sidelined. Partners my ASS!!!
Adrien is being blown off by pretty much EVERYONE! It’s coming to a point where this poor sweet summer child is going to crack! And it is not gonna be pretty… I definitely feel like the writers are leading up to a big fight between CN and LB which will probably end with Chat Blanc 2.0.
I REALLY HATE MARINETTE/LADYBUG!!!! In Season 3 I said it was the beginning of her descent, well in season 4 she’s done it. She’s descended, she has hit rock fucking bottom. She is so unlikable I don’t actually care about her as a person. She has entered full blown stalker territory it’s only a matter of time before she starts killing people for even looking at Adrien! Not to mention that Miss Mary Sue here can’t do anything wrong! She never has to suffer the consequences of her actions, she is always perfect no matter what she does it pisses me off!)
She’s the Guardian now big whoop. I know what it feels like to be stressed and under pressure so I do understand why she needed to tell someone about it all. I just don’t see why that person had to Alya! Especially considering she has someone by her side every akuma attack going through pretty much the exact same thing. I know she’s worried about CB happening again but as I said before the more she leaves him out the more she is actually pushing that to become a possibility! Plus it makes sense for them to reveal their identities now since LB is now the guardian it’s probably a good idea to know who holds the cat miraculous, she knows everyone else’s identities!
Even if she didn’t want to tell CN her identity she could still explain the situation to him. If she didn’t want to tell him anything (which she doesn’t anyway) then instead of Alya she should’ve talked to Luka! Her boyfriend for all of half an episode (thanks writers…). He’s so sweet and caring and clearly loves her so much! If she wanted someone to confide in then why not choose the person you clearly wanted to date but couldn’t because of that very reason! (Yeah I know it’s kinda a moot point now since Luka knows both identities but still). He wanted to try and comfort her so it would’ve been the perfect moment for it. That way you could still date him and he’d know why you had to suddenly leave dates halfway through! But no break the boys heart instead!
Adrien and Marinette were both such fucking idiots in the first 2 episodes. Like why would you start a relationship with someone when you know your heart isn’t in it! That’s called leading someone on and is a really shitty thing to do to someone! No wonder Kagami and Luka ended up akumatized!
Another aspect of season 4 I don’t like is Rena Furtive. Yes ok having a spy for your side is a good strategy but when said spy basically tells an important member of a duo that the 2 person job doesn’t involve them… it just really ticks me off! Alya you are the sidekick to LB and CN! Chat isn’t!
Miraculous specials:
The Miraculous World specials suck! Shanghai is better than NY but still has its problems. Both specials add nothing to the overall plot/lore of the show apart from trying to set up some weird cinematic universe…
NY special:
One of the worst things I’ve ever had to sit through! The plane scene alone I paused a few times. I want to say well done to Mari for trying to move on from Adrien (especially considering I’m pretty sure she’s dating Luka at this point) but I can’t help but think it’s just to give her character some pointless development that goes nowhere and doesn’t actually develop anything!
LB can pretty much fuck off at this point! I hate her! She put all this shit on CN (like she doesn’t know exactly how that feels). It’s like why does she get to go off on holiday but CN can’t. LB should’ve stayed in Paris for 3 reasons:
1. She’s recently become the guardian meaning it would probably be best that she stayed with the Mircle Box
2. She’s the only one who can purity the akumas
3. If she’s so sure about being the boss then she should take responsibility of Paris and the citizens.
What really pisses me off about her is what she says to CN during the big fight. “I can’t trust you”… surely you could have this conversation afterwards since you’re supposed to be focusing on taking down the villian! Plus everyone bashes Adrien for giving his miraculous up in this episode but look at it from his point of view: His partner and best friend just said she couldn’t trust him which in turn caused him to cataclysm someone and essentially kill them. That’s gonna take a toll on anyone, especially a 14 year old! He probably thought in that moment. “Ladybug needs a partner she can trust and someone who won’t mess up and kill someone. She needs a better partner.” It makes sense he renounces his miraculous! I’m just upset that in doing so he loses Plagg who is pretty much his only friend who actually understands what Adrien goes through at home.
When Uncanny gets CN to come back, LB acts like it’s not her fault in the first place that he feels inadequate! She didn’t even apologise for saying what she did! He apologised for lying about not being in Paris but nope LB wasn’t in the wrong at all and didn’t have anything to apologise for 🙄… (yes the LadyNoir hug was amazing but I just wish it was under different circumstances!)
Also are we not gonna mention Gabriel Agreste almost starting WW3??? He wanted to launch a fucking missile!!!
Shanghai:
As I said before, this special is way better for several reasons.
We got MariChat! (Best side to the love square imo). This special actually had some semblance on a plot. Fei, whilst a bit op, was a cool character. It was nice to see Wang Cheng again.
However once again there were many problems.
A big one being Marinette yet again! (What a shock! 😒 I’ll come back to this). Another was that once again HM’s motivation has changed. How is getting the Prodigious gonna help bring back Emilie??
Back to Marinette… The fact that the words “Huh?! There must be some kind of mistake! I always know what's up with Adrien! … His 5 first names and every corresponding name date, his yearly schedule, even his shoe size! If there were anything to know about him, I would know it!” come out of her mouth whilst she is flipping through his schedule that she keeps in her pocketbook is a hugh red flag!!! That is not cute or adorable! That’s messed up and Adrien needs to fucking run and maybe possibly go into witness protection… Marinette is a full blown stalker! Not to mention the GPS she has (that could just be the find my friends app on iphone but still).
It also is extremely rude of her to use not only her great uncle’s birthday but also a lie about wanting to know her Chinese heritage in order to go to Shanghai to stalk her obsession, I mean crush. This could’ve been avoided if the Dupain-Chengs were going to Shanghai for the purpose of celebrating Wang Cheng’s bday and then Adrien just so happened to be in Shanghai.
Also this means LB left Paris without telling CN! I know CN did the same but again he can’t purify the akumas. Plus he has a reason he couldn’t stay in Paris, Mari just went cause her crush did. Great guardianship there Marinette.
This was also the last time CN actually did something. Even if it was for a short while before LB and her female partner took over (the beginning of a theme…)
Other things:
There are 2 other things that I wanna say but felt they needed a separate bit.
In Furious Fu, Su-Han has a rule book that he uses to tell Marinette which rules she has broken. At the end of the episode he tells her that is she breaks 1 more rule that he will take the Miraculous and the Miracle Box off her, which fair enough but wouldn’t it be helpful to leave the rule book with her?! How can she be wary of not breaking anymore rules when she doesn’t even know what the rules are??
Now the big one: Master Fu…
Where do I even start with him. He is so fucking manipulative!! He is Asian Dumbledore!
He decides to leave these extremely powerful jewels in the hands of 13 year olds! Surely leaving the miraculous to someone in their 20s would’ve been better!
He clearly favours LB over CN even though the Ladybug and Black Cat are supposed to be partners! Wouldn’t it make sense for them both to be in contact with the guardian from the start?? He randomly started introducing rules such as if LB and CN find out each other’s identities they would lose their miraculous… what kind of bullshit rule is that? It also came out of fucking nowhere!
Final Thoughts:
But to summarise all of that: Miraculous is on quite a steep decline but I’m invested at this point and I am genuinely curious as to where the fuck this will go.
Marinette needs professional fucking help before the writers even consider canonising Adrienette cause at the moment she is not what Adrien needs!
Adrien needs to stand up for himself! He needs to pull LB to the side and tell her what he feels and what he’s going through cause he is on the precipice of a breakdown!
(Small point that’s more to do with the fandom: when searching for fanfics it’s really annoying that Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir Bashing is a tag but Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug Bashing isn’t. Why does everyone think Marinette can do no wrong???)
“ honestly Suna sometimes it feels like your just sitting there — calculating — thinking of ways that you can piss me off” you let out in a huff of anger as you slammed your hand onto the arm rest placed in the middle of the car. Voice loud enough to be heard from a mile away and then some “ And then you don’t even fucking care “
“ I’m sorry you feel that way “
“ seriously ? seriously Suna “
“ oh I’m sorry would you like me to say it jokingly? “
The silence that towered over the both of you was tall and it wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon “ WELL WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY “ his hand came up to run down his face as he sighed
“ look I'm sorry baby but — “
“ but nothing — I'm tired Rin—I'm tired of you screwing with me“ you groaned “ honestly at this point just fuck off “
he moved to pull the keys from the car unbuckling his seatbelt and opening the car door as your jaw hung open “ what the fuck Suna — “
“ I'm fucking off you ungrateful bit—“
“ you asshole — all of a sudden you take everything literal right ?? huh only when you want to right “
“ y’know what— no you fuck off —ok y/n “
“ see that’s what I'm talking about “
“ honestly I doubt you even know what you were talking about in the first place “
your steps quickened as you followed after the male who stopped at your front door imputing the code and opening your house door “ This is what I mean by you keep fucking with me Suna “
“ oh “ he moved to sit down on the couch arms flung behind it and legs spread wide out in front of him. “ is it really— because , the 40 minute argument in the car about your best friend hitting on me didn’t quite make that clear “ he scoffed shaking his head along with it “ your shitty reasoning must of gotten lost on one of the many streets of Japan y/n “
His eyes glowing body perking up with his next sentence “ yknow what how about you go find it hmm then we can have this little talk sometime later -- preferably when I'm sleeping id hate to be awake for another one of your hellish complaints babe.”
your anger was only growing as the argument continued “ you fucking douchebag I bet you don’t even know why I'm pissed off “
He let out a small sigh of a laugh his legs shaking and hitting each other in a wave before they resumed their earlier position “ I don’t“
“ and you don’t care either do you “
“ I don’t “
Your heart broke for the first time ever in your relationship with the stoic male after hearing his words and tone. In all the time you and your boyfriend had been together you two never argued about his lack of emotion or care.
It never bothered you
It never affected you
until it did
4 hours ago
You smiled up at the taller male as his mouth continued to run while talking to the rest of his volleyball team. This was the first time you’d ever seen him talk for more than 5 minutes with anything other then yeah’s and small mhmms.
The both of you had been invited to a class reunion and you only decided to go because of his new teams constant nagging
Suna had been telling you all week to find something else to do and that you didn’t have to go with him. That it would be too boring and long and that you would be better off having fun without him.
Of course you put up a fight but, ultimately lost and decided to hang out by yourself for the earlier half of the day spending last weeks paycheck on this weeks shopping spree
it felt nice to treat yourself but you couldn’t help but want to treat your boyfriend too. The thought of him being bored alone plagued your mind and you had to get it out.
The only way to do that was to go to the reunion.
Now how you imagined it would go is you show up in your fancy new dress surprising him smile a bit , talk up some of the host and sneak your way in and then mingle and go home and cuddle and kiss your boyfriend all night
funny thing is somewhere in that prewritten script you had created you didn’t realize imagination is not always reality.
The sight of your boyfriend leaning against a wall with a glass in his hand and his other on the string of your best friends dress had you reeling in the disgust that you wanted to spill so badly on the floor right now
All you’d done was go to the restroom but now you sat with your eyes widening while you watched his eyebrows come together in annoyance with the string that wouldn’t come undone.
Your best friend faced away from him back to his chest and a small smile on her face. Cheeks heated from his touch and in that moment you cursed her for having a look on her face that made it visible how much she enjoyed his warmth. You wished she didn’t make it so obvious how the closeness to your boyfriend was making her feel
how it was encouraging her
Your heart broke when you seen Suna finally relax and blow air out of his cheeks before nodding softly almost thanking the gods that he figured it out and it was over
Your feet moving before you could even process what to say to either of them.
“ y-y/—“
your hand came in contact with your best friends face before she could even finish the loud slap echoing through the room as everyone turned to find the source of the noise
Eyebrows raising when they noticed it was not only a slap but a full on one sided battle between you and the girl who everyone seen as nice and quiet during your school years
They never knew of the undercover bitch that was lurking behind the surface. They’d never see the way she was smirking as she took every hit given to her in stride. Your boyfriends hands wrapping around your torso as he looked down and seen that you were hovering over her ripping her to bits
You never letting go of the grip your thighs held around her own as she whispered to where only you could hear “ aw poor y/n’s defending someone that doesn’t even want em—gonna go to jail for someone so unloyal huh “
Your eyes lit up with pure hatred as the security made their way over to you reaching to take you from Sunas hold and lessening your grip on the woman beneath you
“ sir we need you to let her go “
“ don’t touch me until you actually make it all the way to police academy you fucking lowlife. “ you spit out “ how the hell do you only make it to security much less high school reunion security “
“ the hell do you know — you don’t even know how hard police academy is asshole “
“ ah I bet your kids’ll be real proud “ your eyes squinted at his name tag “ todd — you kiss your wife with that mouth “
you laughed eyes rolling from him to suna “ or are you like this asshole and kiss your mistress with it instead ? huh toodles ? “
“ ha — ‘m gonna have fun with you--ya little prick. sir — let ‘em go or else i’ll pull out the big guns — they snuck in here and now their disrespecting an officer “
“ big guns “ your laugh circulated through the room “ ‘k sure let me stop before I get pepper sprayed “
“ my hands already on the trigger you lil bitc— “
“ hey “ sunas voice growled behind you “ watch who the fuck your talking to toodles“
“ just— get—get the fuck off dude I didn’t go to police academy so I could avoid this — their full on disrespecting me come on man get off“ your face scrunched up in annoyance as you saw the security look like they were about to cry
“ well I mean — “ he sighed “ it’s not like your a real officer right“ suna sighed out as he began to bite his lip in worry “ I mean we can let this slide right ? “ he nodded looking towards the males name badge “ uh toodles“
He coughed “ todd — I mean todd “
“ I’m sorry but, even if I could “ his gaze dead set on you “ which I really don’t want to — seeing as though they disrespected me “
His voice sounding proud as he continued “ and I'll have you know I'm security guard of the mouth asshole “
“ oh whoop dee fucking do Tinkerbelle ”
“ y-fucking-/n “ you could feel the way Suna was seething above you breath hot and you could tell his face was made up in a snarl “ if you don't shut the fuck up I swear on Atsumu’s unwashed boxers ill leave your ass prison letters starting tonight “
“ see —— sir I'm trying “ he sighed “ I really am trying to let this go but — “
“ their with me — “
“sure “ he scoffed “ I'll need to see some relations or — “
“ their my s/—their my plus one “ his eyes moved to look at everyone surrounding you guys then back to the position he now held you in before finally dropping you to the floor. Your heart dropping and ears tuning everything out from that point on.
Everything on mute until you got in the car and were finally met with his low voice as he buckled you in and walked to his side turning the car on “ y/n “
You turned to look out the window “ y/n that — “
His voice was so hard but so weak “ y/n that was so fucking embarrassing “ Your body shivered at his words
“ having to watch my fucking s/o almost get fucking arrested “
His hands tightened their grip on the wheel “ then turning around and having to talk you out of it in front of our whole graduating class “
his voice went deadpanned as he swerved a bit on the road mixing lanes “ and — and my team — oh fuck my team “
he started to breathe a bit heavier as you began to feel bad hearing the sadness in his voice. His body shifting in his seat “ all so you could “
he laughed a bit at the situation “ all so you could take your ugly ass insecurities out on your friend ? “
he scoffed looking from you to the road and back to you “ when did you two even stop being friends huh ? did I miss that or ?? do friends just go out and leave bruises on each other or is that something new? What-- is it like a new TikTok trend -- a fashion statement huh ?? the fuck is it because, I'm not a friend person so maybe you know something I don’t “
He scoffed “ maybe — maybe I'll never be a friend person after something like that. If friends are just beating each other’s asses in broad day light out the fucking blue then I'll just stick with ‘tsumu at least I know I can beat his ass if he were to pull some shit like that “
‘ friend ‘ you thought silently
“ poor kid didn’t even see it coming “ he shook his head at you turning back to the road “ holy hell that’s shameful y/n “
he whispered “ I don’t even wanna think about the rumors that’ll spread about us tomorrow “
The car was quiet only for a minute as Suna re arranged his thoughts before he could beat into you again “ friend Suna ? “
your voice was dry “ Rin do friends help each other out of their clothes ? “
your eyebrows creased “ do they focus so intently on another woman while their own is in the same room “
“ I didn’t know you were there “
“ SO YOU ONLY TAKE FRIENDS CLOTHES OFF WHEN IM NOT THERE “
“ NO I “
“ YOU ONLY TOUCH OTHER WOMEN WHEN IM NOT THERE “
“ y/n jus— “ he took a deep breathe and let it out “ just shut up its not like that “ he let out an uncomfortable and tired scoff of a laugh “ it wasn't like that “
“ it’s always shut up Suna it’s never ‘ what’s wrong y/n ‘ ‘ are you ok y/n ‘ it’s just ‘ shut up I don’t wanna talk so you don’t wanna talk either ‘ “
you locked eyes with the male in front of you “ I'm done Rin I'm— I'm done “
“ you cant leave me-- heh not after that shit you pulled back there  “
“ fuck if I cant--you don't look like my legs to me and as far as I know their still Bluetooth connected to my mind so-- “
“ you'll be an overnight clown you-you need me y/n “ he shook his head “ we need each other “
“ no you need volley ball because you need money-- because guess what asshole as of right now-- your homeless”
“ fuck you as if “
“ we’re over Suna don't let my words finally hit you when you walk out the shitty door”
“ that’s fine by me “ he scoffed “ get the hell out for all I care — I'll pack your shit for you “
“ no— I'll pack your shit asshole your living  in my house bottom feeder “
“ if you don’t shut the fuck u— “
“ then what ? huh what — you’ll leave me “
“ I swear to god I'll —”
“ you’ll what cheat on me with my best friend ah I'm so scared — “ your voice holding nothing but mock enthusiasm “ I can just imagine the way you’ll kiss her when I'm not there — these thoughts for some reason almost feels real y’know “
you watched as the man you’d taught yourself to love for 7 years since high school finally walked out the door. His perfume from earlier still hanging in the air long after the door slammed. Your mind racing when you were finally brought to one thought
‘ how did we end up like this and how the hell do we get back ‘
「 LEE HEESEUNG ! 」
listen, you love heeseung with all your heart. you would gladly give the world to him if he asked in a heartbeat; but if you have to sit through his aegyo one more time you will throw hands
it didn’t even agitate you the first time you saw his aegyo—in fact, you even found it endearing: you’d use it to clown him every time he’d ask for something
“oh? heedeungie wants a cookie, i hear?”
he does nothing bc he’s resigned himself to the fact that you and the boys would never live him down the moment he agreed to do it
but as he progressively got better and more comfortable practicing cute expressions, it became a “oh, how the turns have tabled” moment and he now uses it to clown you
he knows you hate it, too, so when he does aegyo he goes to the extreme—dignity be damned
so when you give him the blankest look the next time he pulls the cutesy card again, he laughs gently, puffing his cheeks out as he pokes his dimple
“hee,” you start, “do you plan on getting out of this relationship in one piece?”
but your boyfriend—being the absolute warrior he is—pays no heed to your tone and moves closer, your demise giving him all the joy he could possibly have. “why? i thought you loved heedeungie?”
not anymore, you don’t
before you can retort, heeseung grins at your expression. “ooh, you wanna kiss me so bad~”
when you go quiet he considers stopping the whole façade
then he feels your lips on his
haha, heartbeat go brrrrrrrr
mans is so 👏 damn 👏 flustered 👏 when you put your hand against his cheek
you pull away once you can feel his heartbeat beneath your fingertips; he’s rosy and breathless and he nearly loses his mind once he realizes you’re grinning
“so that’s what it takes to get you to stop… maybe you should do aegyo more often.”
「 JAY PARK ! 」
“oh, gODDAMMIT QUIT IT WITH THE TURTLE SHELLS, JAY.”
“WHY DON’T YOU MAKE ME??”
this is what the rest of the members have to deal with every time jay has the nerve to ask you to play video games with him you’re both the reason why jungwon bought everyone a pair of earplugs each
your level of competitiveness skyrockets whenever it’s a duel (or even games where you’re both on the same team—it’s just a trial of who can outdo the other)
god forbid anyone who suggests card games on a sleepover (looking at you, jake; ni-ki still hasn’t forgiven him for suggesting uno when he was situated right between you and jay) because they’re in for a long time of ✨ suffering ✨
it’s an instinct for everyone to put one foot out the door when you and jay settle in front of the television
this match in mario kart, however, went a little ,,, differently
“i will crush you, jongseong,” you seethe, eyes blazing because it’s your third rematch and the tiebreaker and you don’t know what you’ll do if you end up losing.
“that’s what you said the last two games,” he scoffs, leaning forward in immense concentration.
“your yoshi character can suck it.”
“ooh, you wanna kiss me so bad.”
dude’s about to jump in ecstasy once he’s a few seconds away from the finish line at the third lap, but oh ho ho jay.gif has left the building once you kiss him on the cheek
literally freezes in shock for a solid ten seconds
in the span of which you took your chance to zoom past his avatar, thus winning the tiebreaker
looks at you, then at the screen, back to you again, then—
“WAIT THAT IS C H E A T I NG THAT DOESN’T COUNT WAIT WHAT—”
(he’s highkey vv flustered though; if you just got off your high horse and looked at him you’d have noticed how red he got)
「 JAKE SHIM ! 」
ever since you told jake that you also weren’t able to attend your formal in the past, he’s been dead-set on asking you to a slow dance
you’d told him about it during your one of your many heart-to-heart talks, convos about fading memories from elementary and the anxiety-riddled nights in highschool, until it dwindled down to that
“i’m cool with it—formal is just an excuse to drain half of your college tuition for one night, anyway,” you’d said, but jake didn’t miss the way your eyes went softer in a haze of memories of what could’ve
so now you’re staring up at him, with his hand extended out to you, moon river playing in the background and jake’s smile has never been brighter
“you’re unbelievable,” you state.
“but you’re smiling anyway,” jake shrugs as he pulls you up, he places your hands on his shoulders gingerly, his own pair travelling down to hold your waist.
the next two minutes are spent in immeasurable laughter and half-hearted insults (“y/n, you’re a terrible dancer.” “says the dude who keeps on stepping on my toes every ten seconds, can you not—”); nevermind that there aren’t any cheap party lights blinding you, or your present classmates aren’t there to croon over who you were dancing with—in this tiny living room, all you can focus on is how it feels so right to have jake in your arms, and how this might be better than any formal you’d have attended.
your incredulous mask wears away, and jake dips his head to check with a grin. “aw, is my baby getting sentimental?”
you scoff, suppressing a smile. “mate, you’re the one who cries over layla at least five times a day. i hate you.”
“ooh, you wanna kiss me so bad,” he taunts, relishing the way you laugh in response. you do kiss him, on the nose, softly, before resting your head on his shoulder, holding him closer.
“shim jaeyun, you are one of the most cliché people i know,” you pull away to look at him, at his eyes twinkling softly beneath the light, and you smile. “but thank you for this. truly.”
jake laughs softly, presses a kiss to your forehead. “i wouldn’t have formal any other way than this.”
「 PARK SUNGHOON ! 」
so,, uh,,, i may have gotten a tad bit too carried away with sunghoon’s so i wrote a separate drabble for him,,,, hehe
it’s called “loser (affectionately)” and you can find it right here!
did i base the title off the “twitter: hellsite (derogatory)” meme here on tumblr? yes. yes, i did.
do i also think the drabble’s way too fucking cheesy? also yes.
but i hope you guys enjoy it nonetheless </3
「 KIM SUNOO ! 」
(also while writing this i realized i have a soft spot for our ddeonu i love him sobs)
「 YANG JUNGWON ! 」
you hated yang jungwon.
well, no, that’s a lie—let me rephrase that again: you hated yang jungwon for having absolutely no mercy on your wallet
as if you weren’t worn out from the sparring match in taekwondo earlier, your best friend had to go and put the weight of his pride on your shoulders; ambling around with a stance that says, i’m the best and this abnormally overpriced chocolate milk carton acquired from y/n’s demise is solid proof.
(you’re grateful for your friendship, but this is one of the times when you regret ever making the bet with him)
the blushing clouds mark the end of another day, and you sigh, pocketing your (very few) change grumpily. “i’m going to go blind if you keep on smiling like that, yang—tone the brightness down a notch.”
jungwon: no ❤️
you try and reason with him that it was because you had too many shit you had to deal with prior to the match, but the dimpled teen wouldn’t hear any of it (knowing that all of it is bluff, you’re a terrible liar)
“you know that was a one time thing, right?” you say, and jungwon mocks you la-la-la-you-lost and he skips across street like a kid does after school, “i’m gonna beat you next time—”
“ooh, you wanna kiss me so bad.”
he pokes your cheek and retracts quickly when you try to bite him. you glare at him, but the sun hits the side of your face so you end up squinting at him instead.
then he LAUGHS
(u know,,, the one where his eyes turn into crescent moons and his lil dimple shows? yea, that one)
and you’re just standing there like 🤠
you sigh, partially because you’ve seen him do this one too many times, and because you always fall victim to his charm, so you ruffle his hair and trudge on with the air of a fallen soldier
(dw jungwon holds your hand on the way home and gives you a piece of candy bc he loves you, too)
((you’re still beating his ass next time, though,,,))
——————
「 NI-KI ! 」
ni-ki wants to slam his head against a wall (≡^∇^≡)
(as, per usual, how every highschooler feels as they near the end of another laborious school day)
((but even more so in his case bc who the fuck blurts out “ooh, you wanna kiss me so bad” when they’re going against their crush in a debate when they can’t think of a effective counterargument?? ni-ki, apparently))
he didn’t even mean to say it; he was so caught up in the heat of the moment that all heed for whatever slipped through his teeth disappeared, and now the whole class is staring at him open-mouthed in equal parts shock and excitement.
but the worst thing is that you’re staring at him, too—with wide eyes and an expression he can’t read
“n-no, i didn’t mean— i— you…” ni-ki’s hands fly up wildly, his limited braincells trying to think of a way to weasel out of the situation (which is impossible now, it seems). “i’m…”
the teacher observing from the side, who’s been aware of ni-ki’s crush for some time: ᕕ[ ・ ▾ ・ ]ᕗ
heat flares in his cheeks and he looks down cursing you because screw you for being so beautiful and smart why did i have to like you i Hate this
…apparently he’s said that out loud too bc his classmates are losing their shit & he promptly wants to ✨ evaporate ✨
everyone is just “??!!” because they’ve been led to believe that y’all hated each other and now this???
“you… like me?” you squeak, ni-ki can’t bear to look at you and he feels remorse peeking in his chest like an old friend; he waits for rejection, or an insult, at the very least, but when he is met with silence he looks up to see that you’re just as frazzled as he is, and his heart leaps. “like… really like me?”
the answer hangs on his tongue, but the bell intervenes, and everyone collectively jumps. ni-ki is the first to dip. he returns to his seat, grabs his bag in one swift motion; the teacher stutters out the usual end-of-class statement out of habit, and with that the blond ambles out of the room with a bitter look, finishing what his sensei was supposed to say: point to y/n.
but if loverboy looked back at that moment, he might’ve seen you trying to fight back a smile, butterflies roaming your stomach; because you no longer have to pick at daisies, wondering he hates me, he hates me not.
