Red is telling you to give yourself a hug!
Tumblr media
Here’s a fun project I’ve always had in my mind. It’s the season of stress. It may always seem to be. Midterms, deadlines, work duties, taxes?
Remember you are stronger than anything that comes your way, and you deserve happiness and love.
💞💞💞
I thought about making this because my college advisor has been abusive, and a few (like, more than 3) more senior students under her mentorship have had to take a leave of absence due to stress and trauma caused by her. I really want to support them, and I hope I’ve been doing a good job in real life.
So I thought I’ll do something similar in LU fandom. I am thinking about making this into a print matrix (rubber stamp equivalent) and I will pull prints. I haven’t figured out the details, but I think I will be happy to send these prints out as postcards if anyone thinks receiving a self care note from Red can make their day a bit better. Stay tuned for more details.
A few notes on source images and copyright:
The drawing of Red is my own art, and the cover is composited in Canva with licensed stock elements and fonts.
The two quotes, in their original form, are:
"Be faithful to that which exists within yourself." — André Gide
"When admiring other people’s gardens, don’t forget to tend to your own flowers." — Sandbar Khan
Many thanks to @not-freyja for an additional quote (lifted from a rather different context, oof, it still hurts) and for suggesting that Four’s last name is Smith.

On Stress Awareness Month | Expert Speaks
In Ayurveda, it is said that anything that affects the mind also affects the body. Stress causes an imbalance of Vata (air) and Pitta (fire) in the body.
Feeling overwhelmed, and experiencing fatigue is the new normal in today’s time. April is recognized as the ‘Stress Awareness Month’. A great deal of stress can bottle up over time and build up high stress levels. It can contribute to free radicals in the body leading to chronic diseases.
Amidst the hustle-bustle and the chaos, there are hopeful ways to combat stress through healthy practices daily.
Leading Psychiatric Consultant Dr.Akash Vikas Ponda weighs in and expresses his thoughts about Stress. Through years of research and practice in the field of Psychiatry, he believes that individuals can navigate the tumultuous seas of stress through mindful practices, physical activity, and a balanced diet.
vimeo
When asked about natural ways to combat stress, he mentioned the importance of turmeric - “Turmeric comes up as a humble hero in the wellness journey. With its potent compound, Curcumin offers a beacon of hope.
Turmeric’s important role in stress management is due to its active compound Curcumin. Curcumin has been studied for its potential to combat stress by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress in the body. Chronic stress can trigger inflammatory responses and increase oxidative damage leading to various health issues. Curcumin helps mitigate these effects and promotes a calmer physiological state.
Additionally, Curcumin may also influence neurotransmitter activity in the brain potentially impacting mood regulation and stress response.  Incorporating Turmeric into one’s diet and including it as supplements may offer a natural and holistic approach to managing stress and promoting overall well-being.”

Stress: Signs, Symptoms, and Prevention Strategies in India
Tumblr media
Introduction:
Stress is a common experience that affects individuals worldwide, including those living in India. While stress itself is not inherently negative, chronic or excessive stress can have detrimental effects on physical, mental, and emotional well-being. In this blog post, we'll explore what stress is, identify signs and symptoms of stress, discuss how stress manifests in the Indian context, and provide strategies for preventing and managing stress effectively.
Heading: Defining Stress
Stress is the body's natural response to challenges or demands, whether physical, mental, or emotional. It triggers a cascade of physiological and psychological reactions designed to help individuals cope with perceived threats or pressures. While acute stress can be beneficial in certain situations, chronic stress, characterized by ongoing feelings of tension and overwhelm, can have adverse effects on health and quality of life.
Heading: Signs and Symptoms of Stress
Recognizing the signs and symptoms of stress is the first step in effectively managing it. Common physical symptoms of stress may include:
Headaches
Muscle tension or pain
Fatigue or insomnia
Digestive issues
Rapid heartbeat
Changes in appetite or weight
On a mental and emotional level, stress can manifest as:
Anxiety or worry
Irritability or mood swings
Difficulty concentrating
Racing thoughts
Feelings of overwhelm or hopelessness
Heading: Stress in the Indian Context
In India, stressors may vary based on cultural, social, and economic factors. Common stressors experienced by individuals in India include:
Academic pressure: Students face intense competition and parental expectations, particularly in the pursuit of academic success.
Work-related stress: High workload, long hours, and job insecurity can contribute to stress in the workplace, affecting employees across various industries.
Family and societal expectations: Traditional family dynamics, societal norms, and cultural obligations can create stress, particularly for individuals balancing multiple roles and responsibilities.
Financial strain: Economic instability, debt, and financial insecurity can lead to chronic stress and anxiety among individuals and families.
Heading: Prevention and Management Strategies
While it may not be possible to eliminate all sources of stress, there are several strategies individuals can employ to prevent and manage stress effectively:
Practice relaxation techniques: Deep breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, and mindfulness can help reduce stress and promote relaxation.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle: Regular exercise, balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, and limiting caffeine and alcohol intake can support overall well-being and resilience to stress.
Set boundaries: Learn to say no to excessive commitments and prioritize self-care and personal time.
Seek social support: Cultivate strong support networks of friends, family, or support groups to share concerns and seek guidance during challenging times.
Seek professional help: If stress becomes overwhelming or persistent, consider seeking support from a mental health professional who can provide personalized guidance and treatment.
Conclusion:
By understanding the nature of stress, recognizing its signs and symptoms, and implementing effective prevention and management strategies, individuals in India can better navigate the challenges of daily life and protect their overall well-being. Through education, awareness, and access to resources and support services, we can work towards building a healthier, more resilient society where stress is managed effectively, and individuals thrive.

I talk to many people who say things like "oh I have trauma but I don't have PTSD", but then when I talk to them a little more I realize that they most likely do, they just can't recognize it as such due to how lacking PTSD awareness is, even beyond the whole "it's not just a veteran's disorder" thing.
The main reason they think they don't have PTSD usually has to do with flashbacks and nightmares, either they have one but not the other or have neither. But here's the thing, those are only two symptoms out of the 23-odd recognized symptoms. Flashbacks and nightmares are two of the five symptoms under Criterion B (Intrusion), which you only need one of for a diagnosis. The other three symptoms are unwanted upsetting memories, emotional distress after being reminded of trauma and physical reactivity after being reminded of trauma (i.e. shaking, sweating, heart racing, feeling sick, nauseous or faint, etc). Therefore you can have both flashbacks and nightmares, one but not the other, or neither and still have PTSD.
In fact, a lot of the reasons people give me for why they don't think they have PTSD are literally a part of the diagnostic criteria.
"Oh, I can barely remember most parts of my trauma anyway." Criterion D (Negative Alterations in Cognition and Mood) includes inability to recall key features of the trauma.
"Oh but I don't get upset about my trauma that often because I avoid thinking of it or being around things that remind me of it most of the time." Criterion C (Avoidance) includes avoiding trauma-related thoughts or feelings and avoiding trauma-related external reminders, and you literally cannot get diagnosed if you don't have at least one of those two symptoms.
"Oh I just have trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep, but I don't have nightmares." Criterion E (Alterations in Arousal and Reactivity) includes difficulting sleeping outside of nightmares.
"But I didn't have many/any trauma symptoms until a long time after the trauma happened." There's literally an entire specification for that.
Really it just shows how despite being one of the most well-known mental illnesses, people really don't know much about PTSD. If you have trauma, I ask you to at least look at the criteria before you decide you don't have PTSD. Hell, even if you don't have trauma, look at the criteria anyway because there are so many symptoms in there that just are not talked about.
PTSD awareness is not just about flashbacks and nightmares.

Stress is your body’s natural reaction whenever you are under pressure or when you go out of your comfort zone. In healthy amounts, it can improve productivity and be a motivational force. It also triggers your fight-or-flight response, which can even save your life during urgent situations. But remember, too much of everything can be detrimental. And yes, this also includes stress.

Discord scam alert
Tumblr media
If you get messages like this from a discord friend’s account, your friend has just become the victim of a phishing scam and the scammer is trying to get you too.
But my friend got his account back within an hour of this conversation, and your friend can get theirs back too.
The MO: using this scare story, the scammer tricks people into changing the email on their account to give the scammer control of the account. Once they have control, they use the hijacked account to send the scam pitch to all the victim’s friends
The motive: to try to get people who have nitro to bite, so the scammer can steal their credit card
Here’s how to keep your account safe and help your friend
DO NOT follow any of the instructions your friend’s account sends you. The scammer will lie to you and give you instructions to hand over control of your account.
DO:
Keep your cool. The scare story is a lie. The scammer has no power to force you to follow their instructions, they only have lies to try to trick you into it.
Ghost the scammer. It’s what I did as soon as I realised this was definitely a scam (I smelled shit immediately because my friend has a totally different typing style, but it would be harder to recognise coming from a random acquaintance), and they didn’t persevere any further after the end of the screenshot. Scammers target the vulnerable and avoid wasting effort on more difficult victims; if you ghost them they will sense you’re not biting and leave you alone.
Contact your friend on another platform if possible, to confirm that it’s not them and let them know they’ve been hacked
Direct your friend to the discord support ticket platform— my friend got his account back in like 30 minutes by sending a “hacked account” ticket here.
If your friend has nitro, make sure they get going on cancelling any compromised payment methods before the scammer can steal their money
Take this as a lesson to avoid repeated passwords and turn on 2FA on all your accounts, especially ones with any payment info attached— even if you think you’re too smart to get scammed, everyone has moments of not paying attention, and that’s what scammers prey on

Zionists want you to conflate Judaism and Zionism. Zionists want you to believe that Judaism cannot exist without Zionism and that all Jews are Zionists. Zionism would have Jews believe that a Jewish state is the only way that they can be safe from antisemitism and will point to any instance of antisemitism as proof that Zionism is the solution- so Zionism wants gentiles to be antisemitic in their support of Palestine. They want you to conflate all Jews with Zionism and the state of Israel, and they want you to treat all Jews regardless of political affiliation as the face of Israel. Antizionist Jews exist, and incidences of antisemitism ostensibly acting against Zionism will not help dismantle the forces propping Zionism up.
Don't do their work for them.
#red rambles#viva palestina#antizionism#i haven't actually seen a lot of antisemitism personally. not recently anyway. but that's more a feature of me not following antisemites#i DO however see a lot of people talking about the people they're seeing throw their support behind antisemites using palestine#as an excuse to conflate all jews with israel#and i cannot stress enough that that is literally what israel and zionist forces abroad WANT.#i am jewish. my entire family is jewish. i want to see palestine free. and i have SEEN how the jewish community gets conflated with israel#both from the inside and out#and i am dead serious when i say that every time someone is antisemitic it strengthens the conviction from people abroad#that it's a terrible sad situation but there's 'no other choice'#if you're being antisemitic you are doing the enemy's work for them. Stop it.#like... look. i am putting this in the tags bc im talking in the tags but i mean this. I do not give a single flying fuck if you personally#are a giant raging antisemite at the moment. Your personal beliefs are your problem and not mine. I do not fucking care. But if you are#being openly and loudly antisemitic *in your support of palestine* you are absolutely not fucking helping. I am so dead serious right now#if you want to raise awareness and you're being antisemitic because of deep held beliefs or whatever i want you to look around and read the#fucking room. Do you understand how much of Israel's international support comes from the idea that they are the only country where jews ar#safe from antisemitism? do you see how every time palestine comes up people point at incidences of antisemitism in anti-genocide actions to#discredit the entire movement? do you not understand how your actions are cutting the movement down at the knees?#i'm jewish and proud of it. i don't like antisemitism. but there's a genocide on and i'd rather work against it than quibble over who i#work alongside. i dont fucking care. you can be as antisemitic as you like in private. stop fucking the movement up.#there are bigger things to worry about here. if i can put aside my own concerns as to who i'm talking to you can hold your tongue#and fight the good fight instead of handing weapons to the people who are trying to fucking flatten gaza.

Alex Albon for High Performance
It was this weird thing, because — for example with Yuki, I wanted to take his seat! He was a potential candidate that I could replace. And I remember having that chat with Helmut Marko, and he told me at the time, "You need to driver-coach this guy." And I was like, "I'm not going to. That's a potential seat." And he said, "No, he's already signed. He's guaranteed." So I was like (throws hands), "Okay, fine. Then I'll help him."

This is for all the people who are struggling but just keep getting up and trying. The ones who keep showing up, day after day, even when they don’t want to. The ones who stare at the fridge, willing themselves to cook food even though they want to skip. The ones who get up and get water even when they’d prefer to ignore their own needs. The ones who keep on breathing, even when they don’t really want to, because they trust the day will come when the tightness around their hearts has eased.
this is for everyone, because everyone here today has kept on being. even on the days when they didn’t particularly want to. the hard days and the sad ones and the hurt ones, too. You are still here, trying, and this is a moment of recognition for all the beautiful work you’ve done.
Keep going, love. The light comes back.

DP x DC Phantom Punk: Rowdy 3
Back on my Punk Danny agenda
So, Danny is not like your typical ghost, and thus, Dan and Dani, aren't either. Most ghosts can coast by naturally and just exist outside the GZ despite the lack of ectoplasm, as long as they don't go overboard
The Phantoms?
They need more. It's not normal to need that much ectoplasm, but after a series of incidents where both the Fanton's and Vlad's portals no longer exist, they're a little screwed
So, what's a trio of Punk ghosts to do?
Luckly, there is a way to supplement their energy, and they learned it from a less than savory source... Spectra. Spectra feeds off of emotions, misery, anxiety and depression being her bread and butter. Now, technically any emotion will do, it just has to be heightened for them to get anything out of it. Joy and euphoria can work, but it's hard to consistently produce those emotions and feed. Things like fear and anger are easier to produce, but come with some... ethical issues
Their solution? Get it from people who deserve it
So, Dan, Danny, Dani, and [insert fourth character here, maybe Jazz? Sam would probably be down, remember to delete placeholder] hop into a heavily graffitied GAV and drive to Gotham. Living out of the GAV, Decked out in leather, spikes and denim, they roll into the most crime ridden city in the world and proceed to find random goons and criminals homes, bust the place up, make them nearly shit their pants and then feed off the fear and anger of these career criminals
Meanwhile, the Bats keep showing up at the scene just after they scram and keep having to deal with the aftermath
The inspiration is the rowdy 3 from Dirk Gently's Holistic Dectective Agency, if you are not familiar with my favorite punk energy vampires, allow me to educate you (only watch to the two minute mark if you want to avoid spoilers for the show)

reminders for you:
you are enough
nobody gets to decide what hurts you and what doesn't
you have done hard things before and you will succeed at doing them again
you deserve to be loved and taken care of
you deserve to be respected
you were not born to please everybody on this planet
it's okay to prioritise your own peace
you don't have to continue even if you're tired
please feed yourself well
you do not need other people to "complete" you
Please breathe. you will figure this out somehow. you've got this.

Fluent Freshman - Part 03
PREVIOUS
In the Fluent Freshman AU I could see a moment where Andrew kind of misses having Renee around. She was a nice quiet support for him during her time at Palmetto and now she’s graduated. Bee suggests that Andrew try and make a new friend, he can try with someone on the team even.
Andrew, initially, thinks it’s a stupid idea. He real hates pretty much every sophomore (Jack’s group) and pretty much all of the new freshmen irritate him since they’re always trying to steal Neil’s attention with all their fucking problems. The only freshman that he has no opinion on (and therefore is miles and miles ahead of everyone else) is the quiet one that he glowered at pretty early on for staring at Neil’s scars.
Except now, with the knowledge that the kid is a foreign language major, he was probably just trying to figure out what language him and Neil were talking in since the kid isn’t phased at all when Neil absentmindedly used his shirt to wipe away sweat on his face. Everyone else had LOOKED but the kid had just continued on as if it were nothing.
Nicky likes him a fair bit and has assured both Andrew and Neil, after the fourth time the kid power walked away from them, that he’s not homophobic just due to circumstances public displays of affection make him deeply uncomfortable. The Foxes have pasts and if the kid isn’t going to make it their problem then Andrew isn’t about to get irritated over it.
(Nicky doesn’t elaborate that those circumstances being that he understands that Andrew is telling Neil all the places (geographical locations) that he wants to kiss Neil and where he’d do it. He’s really not a prude but how did watching Cars 2 result in this level of dirty talk?! He’s just trying to actually get to see these movies everyone keeps referencing so that he can join in on the conversation)
The kid’s quiet company the few times Andrew’s been in it and Neil has been making some slow progress on getting the kid to open up. Andrew knows that the kid has his own weekly meetings with Betsy and he’s not about to pry.
(It’s social anxiety and stress related. No he has not told Betsy about the whole Russian situation because she’d be mad at him right? Everyone keeps telling him that Betsy and Andrew Minyard are close and that Andrew is her favorite even if she can’t admit to having something like that. She’s nice but what if she gets mad about it and tells Wymack that he’s not fit mentally to be on the team? Then what? He can’t afford college without a sports scholarship. Oh god- Betsy spends a lot of time walking him through stress relief and not worst case scenario-ing every interaction)
Andrew figures that if nothing else this kid is fine with sitting in stony silence. If it doesn’t work then w/e he tried.
So, to Fluent Freshman’s absolute horror and dismay, Andrew Minyard starts to hang around him even when Captain Neil ISN’T AROUND. He becomes unbeatable at Poker and fluent in Japanese if not fully literate.
Once it’s just Andrew and Fluent Freshman sitting in absolute silence for an hour. This might be the nicest time Andrew’s had with someone not part of his family since Renee left. “You ever consider learning Russian?” Andrew asks.
Fluent Freshman’s award winning performance starts here.
“No, I have never considered taking Russian classes here.” He responds turning a page in his book on Esperanto (he thinks it’d be fun) because why take a class for a language he’s already fluent in. He’s bad at lying but he’s GREAT at just not saying the truth.
Andrew doesn’t say anything in response and they continue to sit in silence until Fluent Freshman has to get up and go quietly have a panic attack.
Everyone, except Nicky, all think that Fluent Freshman’s the second coming of Andrew’s general apathy. Bee is proud of Andrew for willingly sitting next to someone in almost complete silence. Andrew says it helps that there’s someone else like him (Bee is confused because Fluent Freshman is known to bring his own brown paper bag to hyper-ventilate into but she says nothing.)
Only Nicky knows the full extent. Fluent Freshman is doing breathing exercises, taking pepto bismol to help his stress related stomach ulcer, and considering using his art gen-ed for theater so that he can commit to this bit better.
Fluent Freshman kind of gets used to Andrew’s quiet company until one day they’re an hour and a half into their usual absolute silence when Fluent Freshman gets up to grab something Andrew looks at him and goes “Hey wanna learn how to use a knife?” And Fluent Freshman stiffens up and straight up faints.
