Slashers toxic traits

Michael Myers: lack of communication

Michael refuses to communicate with you

Not because he can’t, he can, but also because he just doesn’t want to

You at first thought that he just didn’t like to use his voice

So you offered to teach him sign language or to give him a notebook to write things down for you

But he completely refused and stormed out the house

Another thing he does is leave you for weeks at a time

He’ll justify it to himself as needing to get his frustrations out by killing people

But you just see it as an excuse to not be around you for weeks

Sometimes you think that he’s just using you for food, sex and a place to sleep

Let’s say you break up with him like in my other post and he tries to get you back and succeeds like in this post

After that he does genuinely try and work on his communication skills and cuts down of the time he spends killing

To prove he wants the relationship to work he even learns how to communicate with you in sign language

But if he does succeed in getting back together with you it’s unlikely that Michael will make the mature alterations to his actions and will probably continue to sabotage your relationship

This is because he has the emotional intelligence of a child

You can’t really blame him for that, the asylum wasn’t the best place to be raised to be functional in adult relationships

Bo Sinclair: his temper

Bo has major anger issues

We can see that especially with Vincent

He throws stuff, yells and breaks household items

But then you came along

At the start of the relationship, Bo hides his temper and forces down his anger to seem like the perfect partner

He fooled himself into thinking that you made him a better person and that you could “fix him”

So he attached himself to you and rushed your relationship in an unconscious attempt to trap you in the relationship

But after a few months his temper came back and he no longer took it out on Vincent

He never physically hurt you, but he would yell at you for hours and his words would hurt just as much as if he physically punched you

If we’re going in the same universe as my break up post, the situation that pushed you over the edge was when he threw something and it missed your face by inches

You left and reminded Bo that you made him better and he made you worse

But I do genuinely think he could change as I’ve stated in this post

I think with therapy and talking about his issues that the two of you could have a genuinely healthy relationship

But this only works if he goes to therapy, if he doesn’t but you still go back to him, he’ll put the charming, calm facade that he had when you first started dating

It’ll quickly fade away though and then your back to square one

Vincent Sinclair : jealousy

Vincent has always been a jealous person

He was jealous of his brothers, for looking normal

He was jealous of Bo, for being called the handsome twin

He was jealous of his victims sometimes, because they got to have a normal, non abusive childhood

He was jealous of you when you first met, because you were the most beautiful person he’s ever seen and he wished he could be as beautiful as you

But when you started dating, his jealousy was ramped up to the next level

He saw every male as someone who wanted to steal you away

And when you and Bo started to form a sort of sibling bond, Vincent saw the “handsome brother” trying to take away the one person who was his

Vincent has a massive inferiority complex so he sees Bo as your perfect partner even though you and Bo are completely non attracted to each other

So that makes Vincent see you as an object, his object

That will eventually cause you to leave him

But if you get back with him like in this post, then Vincent will genuinely try and change his behaviour

He’ll become less possessive and jealous of you and he’ll see you as a person again

Not just as his beautiful object but as your own person with thoughts and feelings like him

Of course he still gets jealous but now instead of letting it fester and rot, he’ll talk about it with you and you can reassure him that you only love him

But that’s only if he can change, if he can’t he’ll let you go

If he genuinely does try but can’t change his behaviour no matter your reassurance, he’ll let you leave

Then you can be free and he loves you too much to see you go back to being sheltered again

Thomas Hewitt : not standing up to his family

Thomas loves his family

Correction he loves Luda may, but he still cares about Hoyt and monty

He adores Luda may but even she has used him as a verbal punching bag just like everyone else in the family

And that never really bothered him, until you came around

Luda may never really liked you because of her sons infatuation with you, she thought you were a temptress who made him stray from the Christian way

So along with Hoyt and monty she would give you snide remarks and verbal beat downs any chance she got

And while Thomas didn’t like how upset you were afterwards, he revelled In the fact he was no longer the family punching bag

He would never admit it but he secretly enjoyed when you would get yelled at because that meant he was safe

He definitely regrets his actions when you break up with him because he never stood up for you

And while sometimes he wanted to, he was too afraid of his family

So when you leave it breaks him

Let’s say he succeeds in getting you back though like in my other posts

He would attempt to heal all the wounds his family caused you and explains how he feared his family because he was raised being verbally and sometimes physically abused by his family

He has moved out of the house into an abandoned home in the village and only visits his family once a week to collect some meat and help kill some of the “livestock”

The only way the relationship would work is if he keeps his family separated from you and if he gave himself some independence from them

If he doesn’t then you’ll be put in the same position as before because even though he’s afraid to lose you, he’s more afraid of his family

If he does though, the two of you will live a relatively happy life and will even see each other as husband and wife

Asa Emory : lack of care for partners feelings

as I’ve said in my break up post, Asa treats you like a pet

He gives you little to no respect in a relationship especially of you were kidnapped beforehand

So of course this bothers you a lot

He especially shows his lack of care for you feelings when he practically uses you as a vessel to clear his pent up sexual aggression in the bedroom but he never cares about your pleasure and aftercare

In my breakup post, the thing that pushed you over the edge was when he said he was “owed some kind of payment for keeping you” so you left him

But he still doesn’t make a pure hearted attempt at changing, he instead decided to manipulate you into loving him again

And while yes, he does actually unknowingly and treats you more like a person in the relationship that doesn’t make up for the fact he’s using you still

He’ll constantly love bomb you with gifts, moving you into his home and a big expensive wedding all so you’ll play the part of American housewife

If your afab he also does it to give himself a son so he can pass down his traditions

Tiffany valentine : holding on to feelings for ex’s

Tiffany loved you with her whole heart, but she had a problem with fantasising about what her life would have been like if she had married Chucky

As stated in my break up post, she still held a candle for him and still brought him back to life

She was so caught up with this fantasy she forgot she was actually dating a loving, supportive partner like you

She practically cheated on you when she brought chucky back to life and talked about getting married to him and when you found out you got out of there immediately

That broke the fantasy for Tiffany along with Chucky admitting that he never wanted to marry Tiffany

So she settled with Chucky and it got her killed

She works on herself more when Glenda/glen came around and found that she truly missed you and was still deeply in love with you

Any love for Chucky had faded away after his constant verbal attacks and threats to their child

So like I said in this post when her soul is transferred to Jennifer tillys body, she sees this as a second chance with you and deceives you

She eventually comes clean to you and begs for your forgiveness which you give her

Honestly, I think the relationship will only truly work if Chucky is dead because he’ll always have a weird hold over Tiffany

But she does try and change for you and will be a pretty supportive and loving partner after your break up

THE QUESTION ITSELF IS FUNNY—

the proxies are slashers— murderers. psychopathic, deranged men that are hardly short of completely and utterly insane. their sanity-if they have any- is practically none besides possibly a sliver of humanity. if anything, they aren’t even men— they were resurrected from the pits of hell itself and placed on this god forban world. the atrocities that these men have commited rightly earns them the title of not men— but demons. their sinful actions could never be erased, not even if they bathed in the waters of Babylon. the screams, cries, the sobs of their victims as they carry out their orders doing god knows what to them, will forever be ingraved into their very being. not even god can save them from their damnation— if anything god is laughing.

SANITY IS NOT SOMETHING OF LUXURY FOR THE PROXIES—

it’s something that fought for. everyday, it’s a constant battle for control—the continuous thirst to satisfy the need to kill. not to mention the the operators hold on their minds, making them carry out heinous missions consisting of nothing but death and blood. their minds are plagued with nightmares of what they have done, on repeat like a broken record, replying over and over. yet, behind the insanity, the malice, the control over their minds, they have regained just a sliver of sanity. it’s not like they want to kill—but they have to. for the operator… for this urge. little by little, they begin to feel like an actual human being. but it’s not like you know anything.

TOBY ERIN ROGERS—

is the most far gone. since the operator took over his mind at such a young age without much resistance , he has the pleasure of sculpting toby’s mind into the perfect cast. despite the most—insane, he’s the one that hangs onto his sanity the strongest. almost like he’s able to flip it on and off like a switch. yet, the line between sanity and insanity draws very thin, so he can’t help it when… it slips sometimes.

Self-Destructive Tendencies: Toby's self-destructive tendencies, which are often associated with his character, could negatively impact the relationship. This is either emotional or physically. He may engage in self-harm or reckless behaviors, disregarding the well-being of you and causing them emotional distress and constant worry.

Emotional Instability: Toby's own emotional instability could create an unpredictable and volatile environment within the relationship. His mood swings, anger outbursts, and tendency to lash out verbally or physically could cause you to constantly walk on eggshells.

Explosive Anger: Toby may have anger management issues that result in explosive outbursts. He might have difficulty controlling his temper, leading to verbal or even physical aggression toward his partner. This behavior creates an environment of fear and intimidation.

Jealousy and Insecurity: Toby might struggle with feelings of jealousy and insecurity, leading him to exhibit possessive behavior. This could manifest in him constantly questioning your actions or relationships with others, even if there is no real cause for concern.

Over-Dependency: Toby may have a tendency to become overly dependent on you, relying on you for emotional stability and validation. This can lead to an unhealthy dynamic where he becomes possessive or overly clingy, causing his partner to feel suffocated or trapped.

HOW FAR WOULD TOBY GO—

well, he certainly wouldn’t go far enough to hurt you, no, never. he is specifically always careful not to harm you, especially during sex. but that wouldn’t mean that he would hurt you emotionally or mentally. his favorite punishment is ignoring you. he’d shun you for days on end in your shared apartment, just to teach you a lesson which is very rare. physically, he treats you like a delicate glass doll that could break at any moment. during sex, it’s almost like he’s afraid to touch you. he doesn’t want to corrupt you like the way he is… he wants to preserve your innocence, and your being, and because of that, he would do anything to protect you. anyone who would ever do you wrong would soon come under his hatchet in the most painful way imaginable.

Dark and Evil level: 6/10, Moderate, just "protective"

TIMOTHY WRIGHT(MASKY)—

is in a constant fight for control, more so than the other proxies. In Marble Hornets, it is referenced that he may have Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). because of this, he comes into the separate entity known as Masky during blackouts. the operator has stalked timothy ever since he was a child and anyone else he came in contact with. the operator is setting his sights on timothy so young he can influence him just enough to do his bidding. of course, timothy hates the operator and works against him, but after so long, after all the pain and blood, he’s just too tired to fight back anymore. Masky, hates this. he hates that timothy gives up too quickly. during missions, a blackout is typically triggered, giving Masky complete control. and so soon enough Masky became tired as well. and then killing became second nature.

Controlling Behavior: Tim, overwhelmed by his own insecurities and paranoia, becomes possessive and controlling in his relationship. He constantly questions and monitors your actions, isolates them from friends and family, and exhibits manipulative behavior to maintain control.

Emotional Withdrawal: Tim, due to his secretive and guarded nature, may struggle with opening up emotionally to his significant other, that being you. He might withdraw from sharing his thoughts and feelings, leaving you feeling neglected or shut out.

Jealousy and Possessiveness: Tim's loyalty and protectiveness towards his friends, particularly towards Jay, might manifest as excessive jealousy and possessiveness in a romantic relationship. He may feel threatened by your interactions with others and attempt to control or isolate you.

Neglecting Emotional Support: Tim's own emotional struggles consume him, leaving little room for providing adequate emotional support to his partner, you. He may dismiss your concerns, minimize your feelings, or fail to offer the empathy and understanding you need, leaving you feeling unheard and invalidated.

Anger Issues: Tim/Masky occasionally displays violent and unpredictable behavior, driven by his internal struggles and external pressures. In a relationship, this volatility could lead to outbursts of anger, creating an unstable and potentially harmful environment for you

TIMOTHY AND MASKY WOULD NEVER HURT YOU—

not without reason. mentally or emotionally, timothy understands human emotions, despite not having any himself. yet, when he’s around you, everything changes. suddenly, he can feel again, suddenly, he has the strength to fight back. you are everything to him. the only good in this hell-bent world. he needs you, and he can’t let you leave him. so you can’t blame him when he starts chewing nicotine gum, “claiming to quit cigs.” you can’t blame him when he stops taking his gum out when he kisses you, “he forgets to.” you can’t blame him when suddenly all you want to do is kiss him. but it's not enough, no, no, no. he needs to make sure that your, 're addicted to him, completely and utterly infatuated with him. so, you can't blame him when he starts wearing nicotine patches, "the gum just wasn't working." you can't blame him when he starts placing the patches on you when you're sleeping next to him. you cant blame him when you practically breakdown when he leaves you, only for a few hours. you cant blame him when you feel a pinch on you arm during sex, when he stuck the nicotine patch into your arm without you seeing, saying that "oh darling its nothing." you can't blame him when you've become addicted to his presence and cock. no you don't understand, you really just can't blame him, he wants to keep you safe, really, he promises.

Dark and Evil level: 8.5/10, Very high, obsessive and insane.

BRIAN THOMAS (HOODY)—

has the most grip on reality. like tim, he has blackouts to which he comes into the separate being known as “Hoody”. also like Tim, he hates the operator. at first, he resisted, refusing to carry out those abominations; its heinous fantasies of mass destruction. except he was more willing than his counterpart, timothy. brian is calculating, he's a smart guy, he understood what would happen to him if he disobeyed the operator. the most excruciating torture that anyone has ever gone through. proxy brainwashing is no joke. he's not stupid, so that's why he's played the long game. do the operator's bidding until he's able to conjure a plan, it'll only be for a few, just until he can figure out how to get out of this hell space. soon "a few" turned into months. soon "months" turned into years. then suddenly he stopped keeping track. and then, he started to enjoy it.

Isolation and Control: Brian might isolate you from your friends and family, attempting to control who you interact with and where you go. By limiting your support networks, Brian exerts more control over their life, making it challenging for you to maintain independence and make your own decisions.

Difficulty Opening Up: Brian/Hoody's burden of guilt and emotional turmoil might make it challenging for him to open up and share his vulnerabilities. This could create a one-sided dynamic in the relationship, with you having to provide emotional support without receiving reciprocation, potentially leading to resentment and emotional imbalance.

Manipulative: brian plays on the emotions and insecurities of those around him, manipulating their feelings to further his own agenda. he understands their weaknesses and uses psychological tactics to subtly influence their actions, pushing them towards his desired outcomes.

Apathetic: Brian's apathy also masks underlying insecurities and vulnerabilities. By presenting himself as emotionally detached, he avoids exposing his true feelings and weaknesses to others. .

BRIAN AND HOODIE ARE NEVER GONNA LET YOU GO--

you are the one thing that is keeping him sane. so don't even think about leaving him. you wouldn't get the chance anyways. your everything that he's ever wanted, there is not a chance in hell that he's gonna have you slip through his fingers. he can be mean sometimes, but he doesn't mean it, it just slips out! typically when he gets back from "work", he's aggravated, its like he's a different person. he's cold, calculating, a robot practically; so you cant blame him when he needs something to release his sexual frustration. he just loves pleasing himself inside of you, he loves the way your body reacts to his corruption. now since your body is "bound" to him, he still needs to take extra precautions to keep you from leaving... specifically, brian will pit you aganist your friends and anyone close. pointing out how your friend's remark was passive-aggressive, pointing out details on how your friends "don't care about you, how they will never care about you, how he is the only person that will ever truly care about you. of course, he leaves you at least one friend, maybe two if he's feeling generous, he doesn't want you to go insane after all.

Dark and Evil level: 7/10, Getting up there, crazy ex bf vibes

after everything they've been through, after everything they have seen, they're just scared kids. their lives were stripped away from them at such a young age, their lives were just beginning--now its like they don't even live at all. they never wanted to do this, they never wanted to kill, they never wanted to serve an eldritch demon of mass power, they just wanted to grow up. be a kid, go to college, and have a life. maybe in a different universe, a different timeline, maybe just maybe, everything is the way it should be. maybe they arent as fucked up as they should be.

Thanks a lot to everyone who's been following me through this journey. 2023 was one of the worst year of my life but also one of the best weirdly so let's hope 2024 will be better for everyone ♥

below the cut I'll put the link and explanations for each edit

1/ The Moonlight/Moonwood Tales concept : Based on the lore that came with the werewolves pack, I imagined a story that would explain everything between the werewolves, vampires and spellcasters. I actually prepared a plan for season 1 ... Maybe I'll post it next year ?

2/ The stories I planned for this year but so far, only Melodia is still going. DH3 will start next year sadly and Another Side has been cancelled because of lack of time and a bad computer.

3/ Aïssa in the city : a special photoshoot/lookbook with some items I love and also a small interview including infos about DH2 and 3. It's also a way for me to show more about Aïssa's modeling life. The title is also a reference to the upcoming spin-off about her ...

4/ The DH3 women and the DH3 gang because I want you to love them when the story will start !

5/ The EDGEWAVE fest organised by @aniraklova ♥ It surely was my favourite event this year ! What an awesome idea it was and a lot of people did amazing stuff during 2 weeks ! You saved our summer for sure ! I used Candy Bher as a reference to Another Side and MOON who's a character in DH3 ...

6/ Toxic Don ! A potential new Another Side story I've been thinking about years now ... It would be fun !

7/ The Ghostface DH3 edits : It's a reference to DH3 and Scream of course; the plot will be a tribute to Wes Craven actually !

8/ The Melodia musical video part : it actually was awesome and fun to create but it took me an entire month just for this little video. I decided to stick to a more boring regular way to post this story. I also don't have a lot of readers so far so I guess they will forgive me. I still see it as one of my biggest achievement here though so check it if you can ^^ I love how the episode turns into a musical movie

9/ @windbrook's Slashed Challenge : it was one of my favourite CAS challenge of all time ^^ I'm a huge slasher fan ! It was perfect for simblreen and people created awesome characters and stories !

10/ A makeover of the Three Sages that comes with Realm of Magic : Ana Mae is actually an original OCs, they all should appear in DH4 and 5 ... Morgyn should be very important in DH4 actually ...

11/ URBZ Mag DH3 edition ! Get the girls part here and the boys part there ♥ I love doing fake interviews and mag covers ! Sorry not sorry

12/ Valentines day ♥ My favourite is the one with the Destiny, Leïla and Aïssa because it's funny and feminist, what this trio is together ! They surely had a great night that day, it's also supposed to happen after Melodia so ...

13 / Franck and Madame Sophie : the first drag sims I create ! I wanted one for the Aïssa spin-off so I guess it will be them :)

14/ Recent edits I like : Maria Perron for @birdietrait's coven (I love her and I'd love to make a little story about her) / An other Another Side new idea focused on Venessa Jeong / Destiny's last portrait for the ocs associations

15/ My favourite gif coming from Another Side Episode 1 : I think it's the best ending for this episode as it shows all the plots and times together. Everytime I see it I want to get back to the story ...

hi i don't know entirely how to do the slasher matchup thing but here we go i'm a 5'6 pale mexican guy with naturally black curly hair and dark downturned eyes with long lashes and on my nose bridge theres a dusting of freckles. i almost always wear a black buffalo bill tshirt and i love collecting things and going into abandoned buildings. one of my toxic traits is that i raid them like im playing a horror game, checking the cabinets and stuff. i love old things, even if theyre so old that i cant use them. i like the more niche horror movies like microwave massacre, body melt, the stuff, and movies like that. i really want facial piercings but cant afford them so for years i'd draw them on with eyeliner, up until last year i couldnt talk about myself bc i'd forget everything before i said it. im also really skinny since i have a really fast metabolism and my arm and leg hair is excessively dark and long, which makes me ironically really confident. i'm really good at phonics and big words, but i struggle sometimes to spell easy everyday words like restaurant. i also LOOOVE thrifting i have a bunch of clown stuff along with a carousel music box thing !! :-D

Let's Talk Vampires!

// So as I revisit Vampire the Masquerade, I've found myself somewhat dissatisfied with modern vampire lore? Not in the sense of like, it being bad, but more that it doesn't really feel right to me?

Like when things like Dracula and Nosferatu were being made, the primary trait vampires were known for was unholiness. Basically, all the stuff about crosses and god and the sun come from that. And it's also why Nosferatu is so ugly and why Dracula's depiction in the novel is more akin to a slasher villain in a lot of ways.

But the modern take is more that vampires are impossibly beautiful and that they are all tragic souls who spend all their time angst-ing. And I mean, that is a take, but it often feels to me like it exists to sell books to pre-teens. Now don't get me wrong, I've got respect for Rice and her series about gay vampires who spend their time being toxic and kind to each other in equal measure but it's always felt kinda... incomplete to me? In the sense that they walk up to the line of alienation but never seem to go the next step.

So let's talk about my ideas and why I structure them in my head this way.

I like the idea that Vampires are essentially humanity's predators; humanity doesn't naturally have predators the way say, rabbits or deer do. And so they don't particularly have any defenses. But more than that, vampire's can't really just do things openly. There aren't enough of them, and their nature is that of parasite. Remember this, it will be important later.

So we have three concepts that are now intersecting. One, that they're predators, two, that they're parasitic by nature, and three, that they're alienated from humanity and can't naturally relate to them once they become vampires.

Here's my take: Vampires aren't so much animals stalking prey and hunting them; they're venus fly traps who simply draw humans towards them and then use them. And what does that mean in practical terms?

It means that when a human encounters a vampire, even without knowing what they are, they're drawn to them. There's something there that draws them in. There's no rationality there; neither the person nor the vampire have control over this. The human might think of it as love at first sight, the vampire probably doesn't think anything of it at all.

Because if you're the vampire, then your existence is now defined by an inability to ever actually know the real person. You can't be around people, because they'll essentially become thralls to you. They'll throw themselves at you, desperate to please you, because your very existence induces mania and obsession in people without you having to do anything. And that's not always a good thing either! If you're an undead creature, having people suddenly become interested in you at random when you're trying to go about your business is not a good thing! You're suddenly dealing with hangers on and needy weirdos who are seeking you out when you don't even know them.

But think about how impossibly jaded and bitter you'd be. Humans are claiming all kinds of things in your presence: that they love you, that they need you, that they would do anything for you... but none of it is natural. To them it is, but you know that this isn't their own will. You'll never know the real them. In fact, the only way you could is by turning them into a vampire, but then they're likely to hate you because they'll now be aware of what happened.

Meaning that there's no such thing as a genuine love between a vampire and a mortal any more than a wolf can love a rabbit. They're just not the same, and it's not a natural affection.

So what you end up with are vampires who can't understand human society as it changes, because they cannot naturally adapt or invest in people the way humans naturally do. What defines things for people are our connections to each other, and the idea that these connections are genuine. A vampire thus cannot have any genuine connection to anyone living, and so everything is just a thing. A person might be beautiful, they might be interesting, but at the end of the day there's nothing personal or unique about them.

Thus you have situations where a vampire might decide to spend time around artists to create things, or one might decide to play games politically. You might have one who ends up indulging in cruelty, abusing their natural attraction to drag humans into the mud with them. After all, resentment is still something they can feel, and the absence of a real connection makes it very easy to succumb to darker natures.

Again, the idea is that vampires are naturally alien to humans, and over time become more alien to them, as they become entirely unable to understand or connect with anyone naturally. Humans naturally get drawn to them, but they can't truly grasp what a vampire is, and a vampire knows that any attraction isn't real in the sense that it wasn't natural.

So what you're left with is a bleak existence where inhuman parasites exist, but cannot truly live the way humans do. It's an obsidian mirror, a distorted reflection of what it means to be alive, a pantomime of living. They might be able to create the semblance of life or love or living, but it's not real and can't be. And in the end, they become stuck, because there's no way to truly escape this cycle.

An essay

People who support Stella like to use the pro shipper logic, that liking Fiction doesn’t support irl action, and how it doesn’t affect anyone.

However, this simply isn’t the case, and in this essay I’ll explain why, because apparently people can’t comprehend how supporting an abusive toxic woman in fiction and outwardly applauding it is gross.

Pro shippers listen up as well.

In order for this to be as thorough as possible, we need to establish Romanticization vs study, and comedic effect.

Romanticizing something is to “deal with or describe in an idealized or unrealistic fashion; make (something) seem better or more appealing than it really is.” (-Oxford Languages dictionary.) whereas a study or character examination is “1 : analysis or portrayal in literature of the traits of character of an individual. 2a : a brief narrative or sketch devoted primarily to character study.” (-Merriam Webster)

A good example of these two different projections is Bojack Horseman vs 13 reasons why. Both deal with subjects of depression and suicide, along with drugs and numerous sexual themes, but

Bojack horseman is a character study,

13 reasons why is a romanticization.

The reason this is important is because it explains how portrayal affects opinion. This is why we can have horror movies about serial killers doing horrible things, and causing destruction in their wake, and people will be fine.

When people portray horrible shit, like r*pe, torture, murder, espionage etc, they portray it in a very specific fashion.

When portraying those topics, it’s important to establish why we’re witnessing it, and how it affects the story and how we perceive the rest of the series/movie/book. Most of the time, with subjects like this, it’s established that it’s not a good thing.

Another good example of romanticization versus character study is the joker.

Joker (2019) is a character study, it shows a nuanced take on someone who’s jaded, and mentally ill, and takes it out on society. It portrays The Joker as a dysfunctional and dangerous person, who needs help. The movie focuses very heavily on the mental illness and societal prospects, rather than trying to make them seem appealing. People love this movie (just like I do) because of how it portrays him.

Now, the suicide squad joker is a romanticization. He’s shown as an attractive and sexy psycho, who takes and uses to his advantage. When he kills, it’s seen as cool or it’s played off. People hate this movie because of how romanticized the joker is.

It’s the same reason why horror movies are still such a huge thing, when they portray murderers, r*pists, or horrible people in general, there’s usually a consensus that the antagonist of the movie is in the wrong.

People romanticize Stella’s abuse, but hold Stolas to the opposite standard.

Comedic effect is when people use intense or serious situations and make light of them for hilarity sake.

Helluva boss uses comedic elements in tune with character studies.

As for Amber Bird, their support for her is romanticizing her actions. There’s a difference between enjoying the nuance and toxicity of a character for character sake, verses supporting them and excusing their actions. You can like characters that are toxic, that do horrible things, but don’t portray them as a flawless victim or someone whose actions were justified.

For example: Slashers.

People LOVE slashers from films and games, have fanart and entire thirst blogs dedicated to them, but understand the character is fucking deranged and will/would kill them if they had a chance. They don’t try to justify their murders (atleast seriously). They enjoy the character as a character, but accept the character is not a good person.

Stella supporters don’t do that. And I also think there’s a difference between the extremes.

Murder isn’t held to the same standard due to its extreme nature. Abuse is something that happens everyday to several people, murder is less likely to happen. Hence why people are more angry at her attempt to hit him and her emotional/verbal abuse than her calling a hit on him.

When you support and defend an abuser, you’re setting a precedent that it’s okay, where it isn’t.

Pro shippers and Stella Stans alike have this problem, where they portray their character or relationship in a positive light, which leads to toxic mindsets and sets a negative precedent.

Enjoy a character but don’t try and make them better than they are.

what's a book or fic you will probably re-read this year? i'm not a huge re-reader of books but maybe she gets the girl by rachael lippincott/alyson derrick because they are writing a sequel and i absolutely adore them and that book. As for fic, i re-read so many, narrowing it down will be hard... i'd say most definitely 126 final girls (aka summer slasher fic) by @ladytessa74, i've re-read it a couple times but it combines my love of cheesy slashers and tarlos, so i have to read it during the summer this year. heaven, in your arms by falloutmars on AO3 (i don't know of them on tumblr) it's a meet-cute of tarlos at a fall out boy concert and its the cutest thing 🧡 and man to man by @carlos-in-glasses, it's just a beautiful story i hold very near and dear to my heart. and call me if you get lost by @lemonlyman-dotcom its the kind of story you read after a bad day to cheer yourself up. :)
