I was shocked to find out Stolas Sings was originally badly received, because it's not "sung well enough".

This is exactly the kind of attitude that's always bothered me when it comes to the kind of critiques people have about characters singing. They always approach it like it's a random song on the radio and completely ignore the fact that singing for a character isn't just singing, it's also ACTING.

Stolas Sings is amazingly sung BECAUSE it's imperfect, it understands the importance of prioritizing emotions in that moment, since it's literally about Stolas just waking up from drukenly passing out after having one godawful (eye-opener) of a night. I would love to see YOU hold a note in that situation.

I almost always prefer songs that prioritize emotions over "putting on a show" to sound perfect (especially if it doesn't fit the situation), because even if those songs are impressive, I get bored of them SO FAST. Compared to emotional songs that still hit me every singe time I listen to it.

Okay but Stolas recognizing the power imbalance and realizing that Blitz is hurting deep down is something that's just so important. Realizing that he must give Blitz that choice whether to stay or leave, and that Stolas himself will be okay with whatever Blitz decides just... I'm proud of the owl boy.
