Nanowrimo 2023 Wrap Up...
Tumblr media
So, I didn't make my 75k or break any personal records, but I'm really not mad about that. I don't know why I thought November was the nano event to try that in, November nano's are almost always a disaster for me. In fact, this is only the second time I've ever hit 50k in November.
But hit it, I did! Final count at 1-minute-to-midnight on November 30th was 51,841 words, which has brought my Darkling Manuscript up to 92,696. That's almost doubled the words I've written throughout the rest of 2023 which is incredible, and I'm so happy.
It also means that it looks like I'm still on track to complete the manuscript by January, which was really my main goal. All in all, I'd call this Nanowrimo a resounding success.
If you're interested in some of my other statistics, I've got some more numbers beneath the cut...
Tumblr media
Number of Sprints in November: 132 Sprints Time Spent Writing in November: 43 hours, 45 minutes Estimated Remaining: 20-25k words or 7-10 Chapters.

quote: “Nothing will change. Your past will be just as traumatic and cumbersome as it was the first time you lived it. You fall asleep nine years ago and hope you wake up in the present. At a certain point, the words “past” and “present” lose their meaning. But you keep a record, because you're a scientist. You track the days and study the data, but there's no pattern.
No equation.
You are at the mercy of the universe and you don't know why.”

While dealing with the dysphoria from his time-trips, he tries to learn why this is happening to him and how to fix it. He only begins to find the answers when he meets Jude Forrester, a handsome and familiar stranger, who's been experiencing the same thing.

What's hard about writing xenofiction is that no one will ever know you if you aren't bestselling, prefect, and gaining sales. Anyone who ever wants to do self-publishing, I say that the reward of years of teaching yourself marketing skills, figuring out how to gain sales, and making sure your career lasts is...average. You will experience hardship like no other, you will do what you have to do but sometimes people will not listen to you, and they will ignore your worlds.
Yet, on the other side, so many other people, born years from now, will admire it one day and find a treasure within it. I chose the self-publishing route KNOWING that I will experience this. I knew that it was more important for me to own my own career than risk my forever turmoil.
Xenofiction in general is just a hard genre to market if its not Watership Down or Warrior Cats, if its not forces upon you in grade school, or if you cannot enjoy anything else. No one wants this genre except a few select people, but even then, I continue to market and I continue to build my own animal xenofiction story in Fins Above. I attempt because it's fun.
If you are a xenofiction writer, or a self-published author, remember to be in high spirits. You are doing something great for the communities and its not everyday that someone can do this. Remember that your journey is not like everyone elses, and that it's not your fault for falling behind. There's nothing you can do except keep going.

The reasons behind why I enjoy Writing..
I enjoy writing because it is a craft I have enjoyed for many years. My passion for writing started when I was in high school going through my trauma that I had as a child into early teen years. Writing was an outlet for me to use. I was taught it was a coping skill for my mental health but really it was a way for me to express myself. Creating my first character "Flame Girl" was a fan fictional character a mutant in Xmen movies 1-3 given up at birth to where Wolverine and Storm adopted her. She grew up in the Xmen manor where she learned about her fire powers eventually joining the team to help on missions. In 2011 I found a site called IMVU, I roleplayed as this character for a few years because roleplaying for me is an outlet to develop my characters life and history. Over the years I have roleplayed as many different characters on IMVU and on Second life. My current character is of my own original design and I'm currently developing the story to release by this fall as an eBook and paperback.
Most people ask writers why do you write? Is it an obsession? No, we write because without writing text wouldn't have been formed. Reading wouldn't have been formed. Our lives would be useless because with writing it is what we speak as well. Writing is in many different things in life and without it the human race would be boring. That is the truth.
Writing is a passion of mine that I truly enjoy in my life not as an author but as a roleplayer making my own original characters and putting them into the world for others to enjoy like myself.
It may take me a few years to publish a book because of so much time I spend on perfecting my craft for writing and that is okay. That is how I am in general.
Most people don't know my passions in life so it's time for everyone to know why I enjoy my passions of many different things that I enjoy in my life.

My new covers look gorgeous :D I plan on adding some animations for marketing to them, but I'm happy. I finally am embracing the 'vampire horror' aspect of them <3

Happy first anniversary to my debut novel: Home! Today, I released the re-edited and newly designed Anniversary Edition 💙
October 1, 2021 I released my first novel, a story about two small-town boys falling in love. I poured my heart into this story and these characters and learned so much from creating it. I'm so proud of the result and hope I can bring a feeling of representation and understanding to those who grab a copy. Tried my best to make the price reasonable, but the paperback and ebook copies are cheaper if you prefer! Reblogs are much appreciated!! More books to come 💞🏳️‍🌈

“A bloody fairytale. A lovely thievery.”
A panicked and angry Xavier Weaver from VELVET: Antlers’ opening scene for Roo (Friction Press)! Happy Birthday, Roo!🖤🦌🎊 Roo’s VELVET was nominated for EIGHT categories in the Queer Indie Awards and I am SO PROUD OF HIM!!! VELVET IS AMAZING!!! I’LL SHOUT IT EVERYWHERE!!!
Velvet: Season One is on itch.io, there’s a free sample if you’d like to try it before committing (YOU WILL). https://friction-press.itch.io/antlers
The voting poll for the Queer Indie Awards concludes on February 2nd, an extended deadline intended to respect the global strike in support of Palestine and allow everyone to participate: https://qiawards.wordpress.com
VELVET: Season One is nominated for the following categories: Best Dark Fantasy, Best Urban Fantasy, Best Overall Erotica, Best Overall Web Serial, Best Lead, Best Supporting, Best Romantic Relationship, and Best Worldbuilding (CONGRATS ROO!!!) If you enjoyed VELVET, I encourage you to submit your votes, as this is a book that deserves all the praise.
Once again, so proud of Roo’s skill as a wordsmith and I’m proud to see him be recognized in such a rough climate for self published queer fiction. He’s out here making the work he wants to see and that’s what it’s ALL about. 🖤
