So I made recently a post on my main (hannaxjo) about the ages of the marauders era characters in the movies, which led to me creating this side account. But I should’ve known better than to think about their canon ages in the books, because I noticed something that doesn’t make sense to me, and I can’t stop thinking about it. That is the timeline between Severus hearing the prophecy and Voldemort killing James and Lily. What the fuck happened between that?

So, in the prophecy is this line: the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies. Meaning, that at that time, Harry has not been born yet. Which means, at the very least over a year is going to play out before that Halloween.

And that does not make sense to me. How can it take over a year, after this? In that (unspecific) time, the following things happen; Voldemort decides that the prophecy is talking about the Potter’s baby. Severus deflects, and begins spying on Voldemort. Due to Severus’ warning, Potter’s go into hiding. Dumbledore suggests a fidelius charm. Instead of Sirius, Peter is made into the secret keeper. Peter reveals the location to Voldemort and Voldemort kills Lily and James.

These things happen like a domino. There cannot be that much time between each of these actions. Severus isn’t going to wait around to defect once he knows Voldemort is targeting the Potter, because Voldemort is definitely not going to wait around to kill them. And I don’t think it took over a year for Voldemort to decide who the prophecy was talking about. Isn’t he supposed to be smart? Like I can buy him only deciding after Harry’d been born, but it still takes over a year after that for him to kill James and Lily.

But okay, let's say Voldemort was just really slow, and couldn’t make his mind. That would make the time between Severus’ deflection and the death of Lily and James incredibly short, and that makes no sense either. Because I don’t see Dumbledore trusting Severus after such a short while. And when would he then have had the time to spy on Voldemort? In the Goblet of Fire, when Harry goes into the pencieve he sees the trial of Karkaroff. And he lists the names of Death Eaters, one of those names being Severus Snape. Dumbledore then says, that he himself has witnessed for Severus’, and he tells that Snape joined them prior to Voldemorts downfall and that he risked his life spying on him. That means that Severus had to be a spy for at least a while.

So what the hell was happening while Severus was spying? Did they not use the fidelius as fast as possible? How did Voldemort not find them? See it would make sense if Sirius was the secret keeper for a while, and then they switched it, but Sirius was never the secret keeper. So did Peter actually keep the secret for months? Because that also seems unlikely. Then, there’s the letter Lily wrote to Sirius that Harry finds in Deathly Hallows. In that letter Lily mentions that ‘James is getting a bit frustrated shut up here’, so they must be already hiding. And they must be already under the fidelius because they must be in Godric’s Hollow because why else would Bathilda have visited. She also mentions that Wormy had seemed down, which I assumed was actually because he is going to/has betrayed them. That letter was about Harry’s one-year birthday! It was written in July/beginning of August. Voldemort didn’t attack until Halloween. What happened? Did Peter not betray them until October? Or had he already told Voldemort and Voldy just wasn’t feeling it. Was he waiting until Halloween for aesthetics?

Honestly, I have no point here, except that I don’t understand the timeline. Did I miss something? If you know how this timeline goes, please tell me, because I think about this too much. Istg if I’m gonna end up re-reading the books again just because this bothers me...

I’ll never understand why Jamarylily (James+Mary+Lily) isn’t just as popular as Jegulily

(Obvi I do mlm led ships are always more popular than wlw ones but I digress)

But anyways it’s wild that I’ve heard of so many wild ships (rosestarkillerchaser?? Bitchkiller?? Partyvan??) but never seen anyone else bring up JAMARILILY

Jamarylily has it all no matter how you spin it

Say James and Mary are the most popular in school so it seems inevitable that they’re gonna end up dating and they do and it’s fun bc they’re besties and have good chemistry but the thing is…they’re missing something bc they’re both still in love with Lily!!

Whenever Lily sees them together she can’t decide if she’s more jealous of James or Mary (she’s jealous of both)

When James has given up on dating at hogwarts bc he was so obnoxious 5th year so he’s not trying, but summer going into 7th year he has a massive glowup and then suddenly both Lily and Mary want to go on dates with him. They don’t know about each other and Remus yells at James that he can’t keep doing this and needs to break it off with one of them but James doesn’t want to bc he likes them both.

When Mary and Lily find out about each other they are still mad at James but they’re also in love with each each other so they take him back.

Mary breaks up with Sirius (bc he’s a shitty bf and in love with remus but not willing to admit it) and she wants to get back at him by sleeping with James. James has just broken up with Regulus (bc he’s joining the de) and he wants distraction so he and Mary sleep together and it becomes a usual hookup and eventually they both catch feelings. While at the same time Mary is conflicted bc she has feelings for her best friend and she doesn’t want to be like Sirius was to her with James— but she still does have real feelings for James. Meanwhile James 2nd-5th yr crush on Lily that he thought he was gone is coming back… ft jealous Black Brothers hehe

NO MATTER HOW YOU SPIN IT— they all get together at the same time, marylily is in love first, jily is together first and both in love with mary!!!

Halloween 1981 (nevermind that mary would make her bestie Emmeline secretkeeper and it wouldn’t have happened— but I digress)

Mary is a healer at st mungos and she’s working Halloween night— when she gets home dumbledore is there and so is Sirius. Sirius leaves to go after Peter once Mary gets there as he thinks that Harry will be in good hands. But bc of the prophecy and the “blood relative protection spell” Dumbledore needs Harry to go to Petunia and so he obliviates Mary and she moves to America where she never sees Harry again.

Bonus points if Mary just found out she was pregnant but bc she was obliviated she just thinks that her kids father was some one night stand that she had forgotten— meanwhile Harry has a younger half sibling out there that doesn’t even know he exists <3

Imagine little Harry learning music from Tav and how to use a sword from Lae’zel who finds herself healing a little from how she was taught in her childhood. Imagine Wyll, after someone figures out the prophecy because it’s Faerun and no doubt they’d run into some diviner or the such, carefully helping Harry learn to be more then just a hero like he had to learn to be more then a Duke’s son.

Jaheira smiling at the sight of Harry giggling as she thinks of her old friends. Halsin helping Harry with nature magic. Just… all of them working together to help raise this little boy.

Arabella before she leaves playing with Harry and pressing her ring into his hands.

(The Dream Visitor feels quieter now for some reason, Lily’s magic adding a layer of protection over them all. Family by blood and choice.)

They would. And their plans for the Dursleys get more and more involved as more of Harry’s previous life is found out. They are currently trying to convince Withers to keep bringing them back to life so they can keep murdering them over and over again. As time passes Withers is getting mrie and more willing to do so pro bono.

Harry with wide eyes and pure awe on his face the first time he hears Tav play the violin. Tav teaching him each night in camp, smiling as they see little fingers clumsily moving over the strings and not even wincing when the note devolves to a shriek when Harry loses proper form with the bow. (They didn’t realize how much they wanted this until they had it. Didn’t realize how much they had always wanted a child of their own that could grow happy and healthy away from the horrors of the Underdark)

Lae’zel feeling a warmth in her chest as Harry looks up at her with those wide green eyes, hanging off of her every word as she instructs him. He doesn’t cry when he is knocked down. She still makes sure to tend to any scrapes herself… just in case.

Wyll looking at this fated child (a future stolen before he was even born, bound by fate to sacrifice himself to end a monster — he sees the resemblance to stage even more) and deciding to teach him to spit in the face of fate. To hunt for every loophole he can. To live rather than die for the greater good.

(If Gale lingers a bit too close for those conversations Wyll doesn’t say anything. He knows he doesn’t need to.)

All of them sighing with fondness when Harry comes back with more and more wild pets (they should have expected it, really, after Tav brought back a dog and an owlbear) but the one that sticks closest to him is a beautiful snowy owl with far too intelligent eyes. If Halsin and Jaeira had t both interrogated her to make sure she wasn’t a Druid in disguise they would be more concerned.

Arabella feeling a bit of her grief ease as she plays with Harry. Feeling a bit more like herself rather than a wild thing with powers she doesn’t fully understand and untethered without her parents. It hurts more to leave, but she snakes sure to smile if only so Harry doesn’t cry.

Spoilers under the cut

God the Dream Visitor. They would have such a little hater in Harry after the end of Act Two. Particularly if Harry had been dragged into the chaos of the camp attack and saw Tav say they didn’t want it only for them to be “convinced” to take the space worm. Just a completely feral child who saw someone hurt their parent and no one seems to be doing anything about it.

(He doesn’t fully understand everything about the mindflayers and the parasites but what he does know is Tav looked scared in those last moments before they took the worm and he didn’t like it.)

Also the act three kidnapping who else could be taken other than Harry? And imagine just how feral Tav would get when their child is gone.

i've been on a pjo kick lately so i decided to plan out a character swap au purely for fun.

in this part, i'll be listing marauders era characters & my opinions on their godly parentage and planning out some of what a pjo au with them would look like. in part 2, i'll take characters from the pjo universe (specifically pjo/toa/hoo) and list my opinions on their hogwarts houses + some other stuff about them in the wizarding world. enjoy !!

peaceful au

this is the section where i do whatever i want with characters, none of them are involved in any prophecies or anything - this is an au with no wars where everything is completely made up. down further will be the section for a canon-compliant au where the big prophecies are fulfilled and people meet how they do in canon :)

frank is the older head counselor of the posidon cabin (also the posidon cabin's only resident) and everybody has a crush on him (except for marlene, a lesbian, and peter, who's aromantic)

severus is "the quiet kid from athena cabin" but lily's good friends with him

sirius and james don't like him at first because he and sirius just clash (they both want to be the smartest of every room they're in and refuse to agree on anything) and james thinks he's being impolite to lily when he doesn't always respond to her, but he eventually understands that sev's just quiet and the two of them hash it out

pandora and evan are the weird iris kids. that's just who they are.

andromeda is the head counselor of the iris cabin. pretty much everybody knows her. she's been on a ton of quests and rumor has it she fought a harpy once.

andromeda and ted are like the parents of the camp, ted is also the head healer of the infirmary

emmeline is best friends with xeno, she sort of adopted him when she arrived at camp because he seemed lonely and she needed a tour guide.

meanwhile at camp jupiter...

remus and mary have been there since forever but they don't really get along with each other

remus is friends with regulus and barty (he finds barty annoying) and mary is friends with dorcas

narcissa and alice are older, narcissa is very broody and mysterious but everyone sees right through it. alice has a big fat crush on her.

after xeno gets with pandora, emmeline starts hanging around snape so she can give xeno some alone time with his girlfriend. like with xeno, it works because sev prefers to listen and emmeline really likes to talk.

relationships (romantic):

james/lily (past) - james and lily dated when they were younger, probably like 13, but decided to stay friends at the end of the summer. lily realizes she's lesbian soon after

sirius/marlene (past) - they also date for about two seconds before sirius realizes he doesn't see marlene like that and marlene realizes she is definitely not into guys

alice/frank (past) - they kiss once and then alice complains to frank about narcissa not liking her back and he does some super sleuthing to prove that narcissa is, in fact, gay for her

pandora/xeno (endgame) - pandora and xenophilius start dating when they're 15, they usually go out stargazing to avoid evan following them around and third-wheeling

sirius/remus (endgame) - remus starts crushing on sirius almost immediately after he first meets him when the camps are introduced to each other. they start dating like 3 months later and remus complains about his crush to reg and barty the whole time.

james/regulus (endgame) - they don't get along at first because regulus doesn't get along with anybody at first but since regulus is praetor, he speaks with "representatives" of chb like james, a head counselor, and they start to get along better and then start dating.

lily/mary (endgame) - these two are flirting with each other right away. eventually james and dorcas are basically screaming "just get together already!" so they go on a date. they're def the first cross-camp couple to get together.

dorcas/marlene (endgame) - lily and remus notice dorcas and marlene giving each other ✨looks✨ and team up to do something about it. this is how they become friends.

barty/evan (endgame) - these two take so freaking long to date. barty is enamored with evan immediately but sirius nor james really know him that well so he doesn't really have anyone to get him close to evan. then pandora notices and she's been trying to set her twin up for ages so she sets them up. evan is a little pissed that she put him on a blind date at first but he and barty hit it off.

andromeda/ted (endgame) - they're the parents of camp half-blood, they've been together for ages. that's it, that's the story. (they got together when they were 13, they're very cute, they would just bring each other flowers and eat in the infirmary together when ted had busy nights. andromeda scoffed at others for getting together so young but insists she and ted are different. they are.)

alice/narcissa (endgame) - alice has liked narcissa their whole time knowing each other and has been trying to be her friend since they first met. alice and frank kiss, which makes narcisaa jealous, and then narcissa and frank become friends when he consistently hunts her down to talk about alice. he convinces narcissa that he and alice don't like each other like that and the girls FINALLY get their shit together.

canon-compliant au

details are a lil messed up with parents being switched around and all, but here's who would be who in the different quests/prophecies. things will be similar to pjo universe events but changed some to fit the story because well... this is a riordianverse au.

these details also don't really line up with the stuff above b/c that is all structured around a more peaceful riordianverse ! down below is canon compliant stuff, as i said above. enjoy!

series 1: pjo (battle against titans)

people who the prophecy could be talking about (big 3 kids): frank, sirius, emmeline, regulus, or narcissa (tho reg and narcissa are from camp jupiter, so they're pretty much out for this one)

who ends up fulfilling the prophecy: frank, peter, and marlene -> explanation: frank is a child of the big 3 who manages to reach 16. when they're young and marlene first arrives at camp, peter gives her her first weapon - a bracelet that turns into a knife - as a welcome gift. when he betrays her by joining the titans, it curses her weapon and it's the same weapon frank gives him in order to kill kronos. rip peter 😔

frank is offered immortality but chooses to make the gods pay child support instead, what an icon

series 2: hoo (battle against gaea and the giants)

camp swap: sirius, the head counselor of chb's zeus cabin, is wiped of his memory and finds camp jupiter. mary is wiped of her memory and put on a bus with james and emmeline, who she's supposedly dating.

the seven: sirius, mary, james, emmeline, pandora, dorcas, and remus

the lost hero trio: mary, james, and emmeline

book 2 trio (wouldn't be called son of neptune because there... isn't one): sirius, dorcas, and remus

travel duo (people moving athena statue during book 5): narcissa and evan

mark of athena quest: remus (son of minerva, athena's roman form)

sirius and remus fall into tartarus (that's one way to start a relationship ig)

abilities (that cross over with hoo characters): -> sirius can fly (son of jupiter) -> mary has charmspeak (daughter of venus) -> emmeline can control gems & is basically sponsored by hecate, who teaches her to use the mist (daughter of hades)

series 3: toa (battle against nero and python)

main dude is still apollo ofc, but this time his master is lily, who's a teenager during the series (not a tween like meg)

the kids of apollo in the story are ted and alice, but ted will show up more because apollo & lily spend more time at chb

lester thinks he's destined to be w/ narcissa... she makes fun of him

the sun and the star (solangelo book)

i wanted so badly to make this jegulus but that makes 0 sense so it's nobleflower (narcissa is a daughter of pluto, alice is a daughter of apollo)

not much to say here either, tbh, but yeah. they go to tartarus and they're gay together.

this was so fun to make. i doubt i'll ever write it (which means others are totally welcome to, as long as they credit this post for the idea and inform me first! i'd also love to help others write it) but this was very fun to think about. i'm planning to make a part 2 with riordianverse (pjo/toa/hoo) characters at hogwarts so stay tuned for that. thanks for reading!

Evangeline Fox, the First and Original Fox 🦊

Hello!

Evangeline Fox, the girl with rose-gold hair and a great love for fairytales and happy endings, is stuck in her story of her own. Immediately after making a deal with the Prince of Hearts, her whole life is changed. She's turned to stone, brought back as Valenda’s Sweetheart Savior, married to a prince and later made a princess, accused of murder, and had her name clear.

Oh, and she’s a part of a life changing prophecy connected to the infamous Valory Arch.

But perhaps Evangeline’s story had started a long time ago before she even knew.

It’s all in the name 🦊💖

One of the first things that we find out about Evangeline is her love for stories, especially ones that end happily. However, there’s one story that touches her deeply because her mother had read it to her countless times when Evangeline was small.

The Ballad of the Archer and the Fox.

In Once Upon A Broken Heart, Evangeline states:

Evangeline loved the story because she, too, was a Fox, even if she wasn’t the sort who could turn into an animal.

OUABH, pg. 59

And that is significant. Before OUABH was released, Stephanie had teased that the name “fox” was important to the story. I had just finished reading TBONA when I stumbled upon this post from @lily-stans-legend

Now one can say, “Oh, of course it’s important. Jacks calls Evangeline Little Fox, and Evangeline’s favorite tale is The Ballad of Archer and the Fox.” It’s a good case, but I can’t help but think that the name goes beyond those speculations.

Evangeline likes the story because she, too, is a fox (repeated twice). And foxes are a prevalent symbol in the books. A common animal found in the Merrywood Forest, where Jacks once lived.

I think Evangeline's last name being "Fox" is a major clue to her being the first Fox girl in the past. It may be a little on the nose, but it's sort of clever that Jacks's story revolves around this ballad, looking for his true love after killing his first, and then so many years have past and he meets a girl with the surname "Fox."

I'd be surprised if I was him. He found another fox girl, albeit not the one who can transform into an animal.

And Jacks calls her "Little Fox" and he's the Archer! Like it's incredible how connected it feels from this alone.

MEMORIES? ✨

Evangeline seems to remember things that she couldn’t possibly have knowledge of like the language of the Valors.

Keyword: recognized.

Jacks had appeared shocked when she mentioned it, as if she wasn’t supposed to have known it since it was ancient. The Valors ruled thousands of years ago, so anyone who knows the language is probably dead by now.

I could say that every key knows the language, but it’s too flimsy of an idea since the keys themselves are their own person, however, have their lives dictated by a prophecy.

Regardless of this, Evangeline had recognized the language.

On top of that, after Evangeline and Jacks left the crypt and stumbled into Jacks’s office, Evangeline found seven volumes of The Ballad of the Archer and the Fox.

After reading TBONA, this line was one of the first things that came back to mind. I had thought that it was interesting that she said this. Evangeline had found her favorite tale in Jacks’s office. Out of all the books in the bookcases being crookedly set, these books were neatly tuckered on top of the bookcase.

We all know now that this was a “sign” of Jacks being the Archer from her favorite tale. Evangeline just didn’t know it then. And her heart had warmed because she had just seen a bit of childhood in one place she didn’t expect.

And perhaps it was also a sign that she was a part of that tale.

Moving onto The Ballad of Never After, Evangeline continues this strange remembering streak.

In Chapter 10, Evangeline notices the words on Chaos’s helm, which were written in the language of the Valors. Once again, like before when she first saw these scribings in the Fortuna Arch, Evangeline recognizes it.

Evangeline knows the language and it couldn’t just be because her mother was from the North. It has to be more.

A few chapters later, while she was trying to figure out why Jacks wanted to find the missing stones, Evangeline suspects that his “mysterious past” was a clue to why he wanted to open the Valory Arch.

Evangeline even briefly wonders if Jacks wanted to open the Valory Arch to save the Fox from the Archer curse.

Maybe Jacks was actually the Archer, and he wanted to open the Valory Arch to somehow save the Fox.

TBONA, pg. 181

It’s on the table, so I couldn’t entirely dismiss this when I read it again. Perhaps Jacks's original wish before he met Tella was to go back to the girl who had his heart first. It's plausible.

Also, this connects to Jacks’s past as the Archer, too, just before he became a Fate (will publish this post soon!). All right, so continuing on with Evangeline remembering things that seem odd to me.

When Evangeline first sees Petra Youngblood, she gets the sense that she has seen her before.

Petra is another pink-haired key who hides her hair under a moonlight hair wig. I can say that Evangeline remembers her because she’s simply another prophesied key and keys all have a connection with each other. Or I could say that she was Princess Serendipity Skystead, who had straight black hair.

But I think Stephanie would have made this clear if Petra was the princess.

Petra had been alive for some time now because of the Youth Stone, so is it possible that Evangeline could have recognized her in the past? This one could be a hit or miss, considering that the Valory Arch was not created until after Castor was killed.

However, I may be confusing the timeline here. For this one to work, the timeline would have to go like this:

Castor dies.

Jacks brings Castor to Honora.

The Valors bring Castor back to life, however, his rebirth came with a cost—his humanity.

A few men hire Jacks to hunt a fox.

Jacks falls in love with the peasant girl.

He finds out she’s the Fox. Thus commences the Ballad of the Archer and the Fox.

Either way, Evangeline believes she has crossed paths with Petra before, and it isn’t because she may have seen her picture before.

Fast forward to the Hollow, Jacks is carrying her in his arms as he walks into the inn. Evangeline makes a heartfelt comment about the Hollow feeling like home to her, which is sweet because the Hollow is a welcoming place. But then she adds, “...how it managed to feel like home, though even in her current state she was certain she’d never been here before.” (TBONA, pg. 265).

We all know Stephanie’s clues are hidden in plain sight, and I think this is one of them. Why would she stress this line? We know that Evangeline has never been to the Magnificent North until she was invited to go to the Nocte Neverending. And yet this fact was stressed here.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it, and Evangeline just meant that the Hollow felt like home because it was welcoming and sweet-smelling like her home in Valenda when both of her parents were alive.

But since the Hollow used to be Jacks's home, it sort of makes sense that the Fox girl might have visited one day. It was briefly mentioned that the fox girl lived in a cottage.

THE SIMILARITIES 🦊💖

“You give people too much credit.” - Jacks, TBONA, pg. 183

Evangeline has shown that she follows her heart and her emotions rather than reason. She doesn’t wish to harm anyone and she’s selfless when she puts herself in danger to save others like turning to stone or believing that she’s safe from Tiberius when she comes to visit him. Evangeline tries to look for the best in people.

The fox girl chose to see the bright side of things as she tried to convince Jacks that he could fight the curse.

Toward the end of TBONA, Jacks tells her from his point of view what the first fox girl was like.

“But she had more faith in me than I did. She chased after me. She was convinced I really loved her and that I could fight the curse. And I did.” (TBONA, pg. 353)

Isn’t that what Evangeline is doing now? Evangeline is trying to make him see that there’s another true love for him. She has faith that they could have another story.

Evangeline didn’t want to be another heartbreak, and she didn’t want to die. But she refused to believe that meant that she had to let Jacks go. There had to be another way. (TBONA, pg. 365).

Like the fox girl’s faith in Jacks, Evangeline shares this same sentiment.

Now this next evidence is the most convincing of them all.

In chapter 35, the Handsome Stranger aka Chaos visits Evangeline in her dream. He looked at her face and said one of the most mind-blowing things that I have read in TBONA.

“You’re a bit like her.”

“His first fox.”

It’s such a distinction, considering that Jacks has said to Evangeline that every girl is another fox. But not this first one. It’s so significant because one of his closest friends made this comparison to Evangeline.

And I believe a friend's statement more than the warped stories that appear in the story. It has to be important since it was given so much attention.

Evangeline and the First Fox share so many similarities that they couldn’t be mere coincidences.

Already connected? ❄

Sometimes it’s hard to differentiate what’s real and what’s done for the stones when it comes to Evangeline and Jacks. Jacks is being nice and charming to Evangeline just to get her to find the stones and open the Valory Arch. Everything that has transpired between the two can be traced back to this deal and its conditions.

However, there’s one thing that I found solid in evajacks’s bond before their deal was even made, before they officially met each other, and that moment is when Evangeline stands in front of the Prince of Hearts’ statue in the church.

“The back of her neck prickled.”

OUABH, Pg. 9

I concluded that this prickle she felt is the same kind of shiver she gets whenever Jacks is present.

OUABH, pg. 98

Jacks is all cold.

“She didn’t know how she knew that’s what the spike of cold meant…” This coldness is a separate notifier from the burning on the wrist where her three broken heart scars were.

The second time she feels this was after they had made their connection. Immediately after Jacks enters the ballroom the night before Nocte Neverending, Evangeline feels a bolt of cold.

Evangeline feels this cold prickle once more in TBONA when Jacks catches up with her in the library.

It was the spider-thin prickle crawling across her shoulder blades. It had been with her since the moment she'd stepped out of her royal suite...

I tried to comb for more, but I know that these instances where the cold notified that Jacks was there is from a bond that had already existed between them. My guess is that Evangeline must have felt this as a fox whenever the Archer was nearby in search of her.

CONCLUSION 💫🦊✨

Now that her memories are erased, I reckoned that she’d get some flashes here and there of her moments with Jacks. I also think she might get flashes when she was the fox girl. Now, there’s this question that has been bothering me for a while.

How does Jacks not remember her face if Evangeline is in fact the reincarnation of the fox girl?

How does anyone (LaLa, Chaos, Apollo) not remember Evangeline’s face?

I saw a very good theory that helps with this reincarnation theory, where Apollo is Lysander. Because of him, he erased people’s memories of himself and this fox girl. However, it still leaves so many questions behind.

Anyway, I think it’d be super neat if Evangeline was the Fox girl, because I’m sure this girl was the first person Jacks had ever truly loved. Sure, he didn’t know if he loved her due to the curse, but he did love her enough that his employers cursed him to hunt the girl he now loved.

It’s true love. And it’s the same love that will give Evangeline and Jacks a new story ❤💖💘

it's the second quidditch match of the year for slytherin and it's against hufflepuff, which should ease his mind since he at least gets to see one of his best friends, but he still finds himself on edge. things have been difficult recently, between trying to stay on top of his usual academics while also trying to hide his correspondences with sirius from both his parents and the other death eaters. sirius was outside of europe and in hiding, but sending notes when he could, each time from a different bird and with a new fake name scribbled at the bottom in his now familiar handwriting.

sirius occupies a lot of his thoughts lately, right next to what lord voldemort's been doing and then bee diggory. he's plagued with nightmares a lot of the time, scenarios ranging between the ministry finding sirius to the death eaters realizing that regulus is switching sides. most of his dreams end in death for either him or someone he loves... especially bee.

she's been his main source of happiness for a long time now, ever since she wrote him the letter at the start of last year saying she didn't think his brother was a murderer or that he and his family were evil. she told him to ignore people like justin finch-fletchley, even complimenting regulus and trying to make friends, to which he immediately accepted.

he had a crush on bee even before this, admiring her for her beauty from a distance and even trying to distract himself from it in second year when he dated daphne greengrass. it hadn't lasted long, mostly because it didn't seem to work and regulus never felt anything he should for daphne. she was the type of girl his parents would want him to date, but it felt wrong continuing the relationship when he didn't like her like she liked him. especially when he started to realize that he didn't necessarily want what his parents wanted for him.

in contrast, his relationship with bee only seemed to blossom after the note, the two of them hanging out in class and outside of it, becoming friends and subsequently worsening his crush on her again. they're happy together, even if he's not sure if she likes him like that. it's one of the only things in his life he feels is going right and that makes him happy, but the worst part is knowing he'll most likely lose her when she finds out the truth about him. and even worse, there are the nightmares that lord voldemort will hurt her when he finds out about regulus switching sides. the dark lord shouldn't care about something petty like that, but something regulus is learning is that tom is angry and vengeful, and if he knew for any reason that regulus loved bee, he would certainly hurt her.

the thought plagues his nightmares along with all of the other ones, usually involving an alternate outcome of the night voldemort had sent kreacher to test one of his horcrux defenses, but this time it resulted in the house elf actually being killed instead of injured within an inch of his life. that night sticks with regulus, making him so angry that his nails dig into his palms. that black void of hatred only grew when voldemort ordered barty to kill an innocent who had stumbled upon one of their meetings and he had actually done it.

all of regulus's notions about what being a death eater meant were shattered. it wasn't like his parents had said when he was young-- there was no prophecy saying wizardkind was in danger of extinction, and lord voldemort didn’t have to kill lily and james potter. regulus had learned from professor trelawney that it was her prophecy; that all the prophecy even indicated to begin with was that a baby born in harry’s certain circumstances would somehow bring the end of lord voldemort.

all of his lord's actions were selfish– regulus knows that now. he knows that the talk about preserving their culture and loving pure, magical blood was just an excuse to kill others and manipulate a select few to always do his bidding.

regulus was one of those ones manipulated. and it all became worse when he realized that sirius was never in azkaban for killing twelve muggles-- that was peter pettigrew the entire time. regulus's life feels like a joke with no punchline, especially when he finally meets his brother and has him ripped away once more. all he wonders now are what other lies his parents told him, that the death eaters perpetuated.

focusing on quidditch feels like an impossible task, especially with bee present and beautiful. but he gets dressed in his green slytherin robes as quickly as he can, meeting the team out on the field with his nimbus 2001 before the match starts.

marcus flint gives a speech reminding them the key points of their training, encouraging them to do well against their opponents and not let their guard down just because of lucius's generous donation of nimbus 2001s to the entire team.

regulus is only partly listening, allowing his gaze to drift over to the hufflepuffs, immediately picking out bee. his heart feels warmer as soon as he sees her, like it always does every single time he lays eyes on her. she looks beautiful, a radiant smile on her lips at something her teammate says. her braids make his heart race a little because they're so cute, flopping over her shoulders as she mounts her broom. regulus smiles at her when she looks in his direction, raising a hand to wave. they're too far away for him to say anything, so he just gives her a lingering gaze before finally looking away. his stomach feels tight for some reason, like it's hard to even witness how perfect she is this morning when he knows he'll never be able to tell her how he really feels.

madam hooch makes marcus shake hands with cedric, then she counts down before blowing her whistle to start the game, causing all fourteen players to kick off the ground. regulus follows suit, raising high into the air above the other players. he needs to focus on looking for the snitch, but he can already tell it's going to be more difficult than usual as he feels the droplets of rain start to pelt his face, cold and icy. his gaze moves over to bee again, watching as she flies for the quaffle, trying to catch it as adrian pucey tosses it over to marcus.

he tries not to focus on watching her, realizing he's the seeker and he's responsible for making his team win. he dodges a bludger, swinging his broom around to start flying in the other direction. the rain is starting to pour, making his curls plaster to his forehead as the water gets in his eyes. squinting, he looks for the snitch, all too aware of the way bee is flying past him again as marcus takes the quaffle towards the goal posts. / @devcted

Hello! On my millionth re-read of Aim and Ignite, and would love to know how you would have wrote/envisioned Snape’s reaction to the memory Lily left for Ariel and him. When Lily says that she “loves them both”, Ariel doesn’t linger too much on those words as she knew Lily loved her dearly, having read so in the letter/seen Lily’s love and sorrow for her in the Mirror etc. I can only imagine what Snape must have felt when he heard Lily say that she loved him, even though she couldn’t truly know that he was “on his way back”... I think it’s interesting that Snape doesn’t ever think about/reflect on that moment, is it just too painful? Is it locked away forever in his mind? I absolutely adore your story and would love to hear your thoughts!

so, I love this question for two reasons.

(1) this was the very first thing I wrote for aim & ignite - the story was actually meant to end on this moment - and it is my favorite thing i’ve written thus far.

(2) I kept a lot of what Snape felt here a mystery because you’re completely right! he has never reflected on the memory, has never really thought about it. I actually don’t think I’ve ever written him ever even having a passing thought about this moment and how it’s affected him - and there’s absolutely a reason for that!

Short answer: yes, Snape finds it almost unbearable that she loved him, and he cannot mentally handle that memory, so he keeps it under lockdown. Notice that he doesn’t say a single word after they emerge from the memory - Ariel even remarks that she can’t tell if the hand on her shoulder is to comfort her, or to keep himself upright. She sees him in a very, VERY vulnerable state. I believe he’s covering his face, too - my original intention was that he was trying not to cry, actually - I know, a rare one for Snape! But it’s open to interpretation honestly.

The one thing he took away and keeps at the forefront is that Lily asked Snape to care for Ariel. She asked him to do what he should have done from the beginning, and he does, which you see when he’s strolling through Little Whinging with Ariel after the events of Book 1. He’s actually trying.

Long answer (I just typed all this out a deleted it I’m going to kill myself)

At the time, Lily had no idea what she felt for Snape. It’s my own personal headcanon that Lily always loved him, in a way, had some sort of crush but didn’t understand it until the Mudblood incident. That’s why the inciting incident of Snape saving Lily during battle drives her crazy in the flashback in Chapter 11 (I think it’s Chapter 11, anyway).

Snape, in the meantime, has always loved her - never stopped, never will. The idea that he HAD Lily - he could have had her after that night in the inn - probably could have saved her life - is crushing him. And this is ON TOP of the prophecy (and The Other Thing, but we’re not there yet).

And, despite all of his mistakes - “you’re on your way back.” Lily still believes in him. He showed her enough that night that she knows, somehow, someway, he’ll come back and do the right thing. For Snape to know she had that much faith in him - at a time when he was still a loyal Death Eater - he just can’t handle it. He can’t forgive himself for fucking up so massively.

Snape knows he could have saved Lily, but even with what happened between them it changed nothing, so he doesn’t think his love was enough. Lily, however, loved him knowing he wouldn’t come back - not for a while, anyway - but she had to try something - anything - for Ariel.

I also think finally confronting that memory will directly tie into how Snape feels about Ariel. He’s admitted he cares about her - okay, great. What’s he going to do with that? Well, right now, he’s caring in his Snape-way, but he’s not exactly doing it well. And why is that?

Because he loves Ariel and doesn’t know it yet.

And once he admits he loves Ariel, he can begin to make his way back to Lily, and what she tried to give him in the Pensive.

Ok this might be an awful request but I hope you can get some inspo from this. They think the reader is dead, because the reader was reportedly at the potter’s that fateful night. But instead she transformed into an animagus and has been looking after Harry.

Maybe you could write about some mischief the reader gets up to (possibly with McGonagall cos I just think the cat version of her would be so fun to prank)

Then everyone finds out the reader is alive in the either the shrieking shack or during an order of the pheonix meeting (or something else it’s up to you)

Lily and you were friends since your second year at Hogwarts. You both being muggle-born, so it didn't take so long for you two become close.

Unfortunately, when you learned that Remus was a werewolf, the two of you drifted apart a bit. She hung around with Snape and you became a supporting member of the Marauders.

You two still helped each other and talked, but she got annoyed when the boys did something against Snape or other students.

In turn, you didn't like Snape. He was always handing you over to the monitors when you brought in some forest creature to tend to and seemed to watch your steps in every hallway. To say it sent nasty shivers down your spine was an understatement.

It wasn't until he called her mudblood that you were completely reunited with her again.

You'll always remember the argument you and the boys had that night. Saying that if it weren't for their stupidity, Lily wouldn't be upset.

Later when Lily and James got married and found out they had a baby on the way, you were asked to be the godmother (since Lily's sister didn't want to participate in this).

You were working at the ministry when you heard the Potter's were hidden.

At that time the world seemed to be turning upside down.

You went to visit Lily that fateful night.

It wasn't hard to figure out where they were, as you used your mind-reading ability on Sirius.

At the time you didn't know about the prophecy and just thought they wanted to keep their little nephew at home for some reason.

Honestly, you thought he was sick and that a visit seemed like a sweet and welcome way.

When you arrived at the Potter's it was James who greeted you. He looked surprised for a moment and was quick to pull you inside.

He looked a little nervous and asked you, very seriously, what were you doing there and you replied shyly that you had been snooping into Sirius' mind.

His expression seemed to relax slightly, for a moment he forgot about your legilimency.

You had a pleasant afternoon with all of them. Laughing at James' jokes and having fun with small, chatty Harry. Lily looked very pleased to see her husband enjoying himself after so long.

This is your last concrete memory of that day.

Searching your mind, you might remember walking out and bumping into someone you knew who was close to the Potter's house.

You remember a strange name or nickname you called that person.

"Wormtail"

After that it's all a blur.

The sound of people talking, then the quiet sound of nature and then you think you've fallen to the ground.

You couldn't move and soon your whole body ached. It was unbearable and makes you want to scream and squirm just thinking about that phantom sensation.

Then your vision goes out and you hear al the background something like "obliviate" before everything become dark.

You were confused and lost when they found you the next morning. Not knowing who you were or where you were.

You spent a few months hospitalized at St.Mungus recovering and when the aurors showed up, you were advised to stay away from the wizarding world for a while.

"For your own protection" - they said.

They got you a new address and a new name.

Number 11, Privet Drive. The last residence on a street of equal house.

Honestly, if you had known what was to come, you wouldn't have sighed as you set foot in that garden.

omg the fact that you don't hate Dumbledore with every fiber of your being is a breath of fresh air.

I see so many people bashing on him and acting like he is the worst character when voldemort and snape are literally right there. Yeah, he wasn't perfect, but like, he isn't responsible for every bad thing to have happened in the wizarding world, and to say that he is isn't accurate in the slightest.

I saw a short on youtube that showed all the characters in Harry Potter who had ever died, and said Dumbledore was the reason they all died, which is like.... again, not accurate.

People talk about how "he raised all of these characters to die" as if he saw James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, Snape, Lily, Tonks, and everyone else in the mauraders fandom at age 12 and was like, "Yeah I'm totally going to raise these guys up only to make them join my secret society so I can have them all die!!:)" He never forced any of them into doing anything. Arguably, the only one he knew would die was Harry, and it wasn't like he was jumping for joy at that prospect. There are dozens of moments and actions he took to prevent the inevitable for as long as possible. There's literally an entire chapter in OOTP when he talks about his desire to do just that. And in HBP, he and Harry have an entire conversation about the fact that Harry would want to kill Voldemort regardless of whether he knew the prophecy or not.

I feel like people just want to blame Dumbledore for everything, which drives me insane because it erases the blame and mistakes of the people actually responsible for major events.

I know this was long, I'm sorry, haha. I just am so tired of seeing so much Dumbledore hate. Again, he isn't a perfect character in the slightest. But to claim that he's the worst character in the series is just plain stupid.

I'm really happy to find people who see what a big pile of bs Dumbledore bashing is...they can't even find a decent argument, too busy playing the blame game....what they don't realize is that blaming everything on Dumbledore undermines or downright denies the great sacrifices these people made and it was their decision to risk their lives for the good fight...but no, they were just Dumbledore's pawns and brainwashed to fight for him...I think they have the names mixed up, because it all sounds like Voldemort and his Death Eaters to me...And what exactly was Dumbledore trying to gain, he literally died..and not by accident...he carefully planed his death to get the most out of it in their favour, so he wasn't after the power and control...if he was, he could have had that before Voldemort wasn't even in the picture

And you have already said everything else I have to say on this matter..I'd just like to add one thing :

If anyone's wondering why people are sending me asks about Dumbledore and if I've turned into a Dumbledore's man...my answer is - I'm a ‘Dumbledore’s man through and through’...‘Glad we straightened that out.’

When Harry finds a photo of James and Sirius kissing, he’s got some questions and Sirius has a lot of explaining to do.

“Hey, Sirius,” Harry says, tentatively from the doorway of the drawing room.

Sirius hated being in this house again, but at least he has the opportunity to spend time with his godson/son. Of course, Harry didn’t know that he and James were married or that Lily had only been a surrogate – well, sort of – James and Lily had been together briefly before he and James got together, and Lily had fallen pregnant. Lily hadn’t been sure about marriage and kids and everything while she was a major target in the war, so he and James had agreed to raise Harry as theirs. Lily would be a godmother, but they would raise him.

Only the prophecy had happened, and everyone had known that Harry biologically belonged to James and Lily. So, they made assumptions and those two went into hiding and – well, the story continues from there.

As far as everyone knows, Sirius is just the best mate.

“Hey, Harry. Everything, okay?”

“Er, well, I – I sort of found something and I – I don’t really know how to ask, but…”

Harry nervously offers him something in his hand that he accepts. He looks down to see a picture of himself and James kissing. They were dressed up in fancy dress robes and had a small wedding – just the three of them. Lily had performed the ceremony, she had gotten the ability as a special present to them for agreeing to take Harry in as their own (of course, he was biologically, James’) and allowing her to stand back a bit.

“Er, Harry, there’s something I haven’t told you – a lot actually,” Sirius states. “Why don’t we have a seat?”

Harry nods and they sit on the little couch in the room. It’s quiet as Sirius doesn’t know where to begin, too lost in the photo – one of the happiest days of his life. He and James hadn’t been together long, only about three months, but they had always known they wanted forever.

After a minute or so, Harry clears his throat. “Are you – going to explain?”

Sirius clears his throat. “Yes, er, you see – James was always more than my best mate. I – I can’t tell you when I fell in love with him, but it was long before this kiss.” He pauses. “But you see, James was kind of – well – he kind of confused his feelings a lot. He did fancy your mother, a lot, but he also had similar feelings for me, but he assumed they must’ve been platonic because you don’t have those feelings for a best mate.” Sirius laughs. “He was obviously mistaken.”

“Uh-huh, go on.”

“Okay, well, he dated your mother at the end of seventh year and into the beginnings of the war, but then realized that he wanted to be with me – Lily actually helped him figure it out,” Sirius states. “And we got together. This photo is of our impromptu wedding, we wanted to be married before you came along.”

Harry frowns. “How did I come along then?”

Sirius takes a breath. “Lily became pregnant right before your father and I got together. It – it complicated things. It was decided that James and I would raise you as a couple, as Lily – she loved you, but didn’t want to make you a target, the war was too much … it was a complicated time. We were going to be your fathers and she was to be your godmother.”

“Then why does everyone think –”

“Technically, biologically, they’re right about your parentage. And assuming the situation with James and Lily and – and … I was afraid that no one would believe me. After all, the war was full of assumptions and craziness and I lost James and you in one night and ever since then… well, no one here is taking me seriously, so I – I thought it was better that I didn’t tell you about all of this.”

Harry nods. “I suppose that makes sense. Still, I – it would’ve been nice for you to tell me that you would’ve been my dad, too.”

“Pads,” Sirius states. “Dad and Pads. We used to joke about it all of the time.”

Harry grins. “I know it must be hard to be without Dad, but I’m really glad to have my Pads, here.”

“I’m happy to be here with you, too, kiddo. And at least, now, you know that it would’ve been the three of us as a family.”

“At least we still have the two of us and this photo.”

Sirius smiles. “And lots of stories.”

“I’d love to hear them.”

“And I’d love to tell you.”
