must be very strange to have to perform your heartbreak. as authentic as the emotions are, to market them at all (do a photoshoot, decide on "promo")... it must be strange to reconcile that with your private life, the intimate details, at times

rockstar poly!marauders x rockstar!reader ♡ 1k words
The tabloids had started speculating when too many of your tour dates lined up. It’s only natural that you’d end up spending some time together, in the same occupation and occupying the same spheres, so you were seen with each of the boys at various eateries, at afterparties, on the street. The only problem for journalists was, they couldn’t figure out which band member you were dating.
They were clutching at straws. A picture of you grabbing Remus’ hand to pull him into a store, an interview wherein Sirius had complimented your new single, a zoomed-in video of James carrying four coffees back up to the hotel instead of three. The speculation was all over the place, scattered and nearly baseless.
Not after tonight. It had been Lily, the Marauders’ manager, who’d had the idea to take this story by the reins. She’d pointed out that fans were only getting more obsessed with the question of which of the boys you were dating, and with both of you releasing new albums soon, it was as good a time as any to capitalize on that interest. Plus, if you did the big reveal before any magazine could figure it out, it’d be your concert that went viral, not their publication. “More press,” she’d said enticingly, “means more people learning your names and listening to your music.”
You’d thought the boys would be the ones to have qualms. Remus wasn’t the type to enjoy making his private life public (it was more an unfortunate side-effect of his career than a draw) and James always talked about how keeping your relationship a secret made it feel less like they had to share you with everyone else, but in the end, they got on board with Lily’s scheme quickly. You all agreed that someone was going to figure you all out sooner or later, and if your romantic life was going to be broadcast, it may as well be on your own terms.
Still, that doesn’t mean you’re not nervous.
“Loosen up, angel,” James says, prodding at your foot with his as you lie on Remus’ chest, picking through his usually well-guarded stash of chocolate. “This is supposed to be fun, remember?”
“It’s not the show I’m worried about,” you say, rubbing your socked foot along his mindlessly. “I’m excited to play with you guys, I just wish we could do that without everyone making assumptions.”
Remus hums in agreement, but Sirius makes a derisive sound, turning to look at you from the mirror. His eyeliner is half done, making one eye seem big and dangerous and the other naked.
“You two are being so dramatic,” he says. “Of course they’re gonna assume, and they’ll be right. That’s the point.”
You sigh, tipping your head back onto Remus’ shoulder, and he runs his hand up and down your side commiseratively.
“It’s going to be a great show.” James tries again to lift your foul mood. You try to look less dismal in return. “You and Sirius’ voices go so well together, the crowd will love it.”
“It’s true.” Sirius smirks at you through the mirror. “And later, we’ll go to the afterparty—”
“Do we really have to?” Remus asks.
James looks sympathetic, reaching forward to rub his calf consolingly. “‘Fraid so, love. Lily says the only way to control the narrative is to talk to people after the show. We don’t have to stay the whole time, but we’ll practically be on the clock.”
“Anyway,” Sirius goes on. “We’ll go to the afterparty, and everyone will tell us how cute we are together, and everyone north of the equator will want to be us and fuck us at the same time.”
You can tell Remus has something to say about that, but before he can, Lily pops her head into the dressing room. “Guys, the opener is finishing up,” she says, eyes lingering on each of your faces assessingly. “Everyone ready?”
“Just a second…yeah,” Sirius says, finishing his perfectly messy eyeliner. “Ready.”
Lily nods before ducking back out, off to go coordinate light technicians or whatever she does in the rush before shows. James offers you and Remus a hand each, hauling you up. You lick your thumb, wiping a bit of chocolate from the side of Remus’ mouth, and he gives you a half-smile of thanks.
“We got this,” you whisper to him, and he takes your hand, squeezing lightly.
“I know we do, sweetheart.”
Sirius is the only one talking as you all make your way to the side of the stage, the crowd cheering loudly as the opening act wraps up their set.
“Hey.” A hand lands on your shoulder, and you turn to find James attached to it. He’s looking at you with more than the usual pre-show nerves, something more like worry. “Are you really upset about this? We don’t have to go through with it, it’s not too late to tell Lily it’s off.”
Yes it is, but he’s a sweetheart for saying so. “No, I’m okay,” you promise, reaching up to squeeze his wrist reassuringly. The other band is exiting on the opposite side of the stage, the lights going out. You’re going to be going out there any minute. “I’m excited to perform with you guys, and…and I’m ready to be done with the sneaking around. I’m just nervous, I guess.”
James slides his hand up from your shoulder to cup your face, your hand still clasped loosely around his wrist. He smooths his thumb over your cheek fondly, eyes gone soft under the faint glaze of adrenaline. “Don’t be, sweetheart. You’re going to do great, and we’ll all be up there together.” He stoops lower so only you can hear him. “Just between us, you and Sirius sound great together, but you can hit notes he never could. They’re gonna love you out there.”
You grin, and Sirius turns around, eyeing the both of you. “I heard my name,” he says accusingly. “What’re we talking about?”
The lights come back on, and that’s your cue. “Nothing!” you chirp, grabbing his hand and dragging him towards the stage. “Let’s go.”

I hope this lives up to your expectations. Thank you for all the love on the teaser, and remember, comments and feedback are always soooo appreciated!
Taglist: @bangteezbaby @thelilbutifulthings @hoshi-is-ult-bbg @juju-227592 @kikz165 @plexcaffeinate
All the members had just gotten home from rehearsal, and immediately went to find you just so they could throw silly little tantrums about you not being there.
The way they were pouting reminded you more of kicked puppies than world-wide sensations.
"It's fine guys, I know someone who can cover for me until I get better."
"But we like your choreography better." Taehyung whines into your shoulder and you pat his head in comfort.
"It's just a month or two, Tae."
You had broken your leg about a week ago, and consequently, you couldn't continue choreographing for the group until you were fully healed.
Which meant either the boys paused their learning, or you brought someone else in to cover for you - and you're all aware that pausing isn't really an option.
"But I'll miss you." Your boyfriends were overly dramatic, acting like you were leaving even though you all lived together.
"You'll still see me at home, it's not like I'm dropping off the face of the earth."
He huffs into your shoulder and rolls over so he's sitting next to you normally now.
"Anyway, how have you been? Have you felt okay?" Seokjin sits down on the other side of you and you feel yourself growing a bit shy under his caring stare.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
•••
"Hi! Thank you so much for covering for me. We're on a reall-"
"Save it, it's whatever. I always told you you'd need my help again at some point."
You don't like the implications in her tone but you pass it off with a small chuckle.
"Okay, so they already know 2 out of the 5 numbers for this album, and we were in the middle of learning the 3rd one. I taught it to Hoseok in advance so he can take over for that one. So you wouldn't need to be at the studio until next week. I'll send you the videos I took of the foundation of the other 2 numbers so you can learn it and then teach it."
She looked so uninterested in what you were saying, but you had to be professional.
You called her here in the first place.
"Kay, cool, got it. Also, can I get the guys' numbers? You know, just in case."
"Oh uhm, you can ask them when you see them next week… I'm not sure if they want me giving out their numbers to people they don't really know."
"Well they're gonna know me soon right? Don't be greedy, trying to keep all of them to yourself."
She giggles but you can feel that it's not really one of genuine giddiness and you hope that your discomfort isn't apparent.
"I'll ask them when I see them later today."
You plaster on the best smile you can and she gives you an equally forced one back.
"Okay. Bye!"
She basically struts away and you're left standing there; maybe calling her was the wrong move.
•••
Yep. Calling her was probably the wrong move. But it depends on which side of Y/N you ask.
On the professional side, this is absolutely great. They hit it off right away, all the boys growing comfortable with her rather quick (something HYBE valued a lot), and she was great at her job. Talented, bold, confident, friendly, the whole package.
On a more personal side, this was putting you on edge. How suddenly, all the guys would talk about was 'Joanna said this a rehearsal' or 'Joanna invited us out to eat'. It was always Joanna this Joanna that, and you knew they were just excited to have a new friend, to have someone who shares their passion, you couldn't help but wonder if their feelings for you were simply out of excitement. And now that you're not the newest thing around, would they still want you? Would they still talk about you with the same sparkle in their eyes as they do with Joanna? It left a pit in your chest.
And — yeah, calling her was the definitely the wrong move.
Finally, a long-awaited date with all of you. They were filled with energy, talking and joking on the ride there, and you felt your heart growing lighter, you still had them.
They even helped you get off the car with all the gentleness in the world, helped you get in your seat and made sure you were completely comfortable.
The lightness quickly weighed down into something much heavier when you saw Joanna walk in and make her way to the table.
And the weight felt like it had been dropped to you feet when the guys scooted to make space for her, Namjoon even standing up to hug her and letting her sit first so she'd be in between him and Jungkook.
How long has it been since they hugged you with such happiness?
"Oh my god, Y/N, hi! The boys didn't tell me you would be here."
Something about the way she said "the boys" made your hands itch, almost as much as your throat itched to say 'likewise'.
"Welp. I'm here. Haha."
Dinner wasn't fun, to say the least.
Joanna was blatantly saying shit to embarrass you the entire time, and it even worse, your boyfriends seemed to be soaking up her every word, laughing whenever she pointed out something embarrassing about you when she knew you in high school.
"Yeah! And when we choreographed together, she would always forget her parts." She lets out a giggle and Hoseok laughs too: what's so funny?
"It was only once or twice." You groan, mostly to yourself, but Joanna hears it.
"Whatever helps you sleep at night."
Everyone laughs at her words again and suddenly, you start to think that staying home was the better option.
"I've always said she has the memory of a goldfish. Sometimes it felt like I was doing all the work because i constantly had to step in and help when Y/N froze up."
She turns to you when she speaks her next question:
"How are you doing now that I haven't been here to clean up after you? Are you making Jimin do it?" She laughs and nudges Jimin, who's sitting next to her, on the shoulder, and he happily shoves back with a bright smile on her face.
"I'm fine, it's rare that I forget stuff lately."
She gasps in a dramatic manner, you wish she would just disappear already.
"You? Not wasting time in rehearsal? Because you forgot? That's unheard of!"
You hate the way pretty much all of the guys laugh at her words: they know how much work you've put into being a good choreographer. Why were they laughing at you?
Suddenly, you feel the person next to you pressing up closer against you: Seokjin.
You look at him and he has a soft smile on his face, but not towards Joanna; his entire focus is on you.
"You have a really good memory darling. We can tell you've worked on it." The knot in your stomach softens its grip after hearing Seokjin's words, and for the first time since you got here, your smile is genuine.
"Anyways, how'd you injure yourself?"
"Oh, we were doing some cardio and I tripped. Fell at an awkward angle and it twisted my leg. Haha."
Joanna laughs a little too hard at this.
"I've always also said that for a supposed dancer you sure are clumsy as hell."
Some of the guys giggle at her comment, and you look down at your lap: why were they laughing at you?
Out of the corner of your eye, you see Seokjin sit up a little straighter, and you suspect he's gonna say something.
"Supposed dancer?" He raised a brow and to most people, it would've seemed like he was just egging onto the joke, but you and the rest of the table could tell that there was a serious undertone to his question.
It was no secret in your relationship with the guys that Seokjin had a specific soft spot for you – in a relationship as big as yours, its bound that all of you will have your weak spots for one another: Jungkook and Namjoon, Jimin and Taehyung, Hoseok and Yoongi, you and Seokjin.
So you were more than relieved when he met your gaze from across the table; he knew you were uncomfortable.
And as everyone knows, he's not one to stay quiet.
"I just mean it's surprising that for someone so clumsy she went into the professional world where coordination is crucial."
Jungkook uses this point to tease Namjoon, and thankfully the attention is taken off of you. You catch Seokjin's stare again and this time it's accompanied with an apologetic smile and him reaching out his hand to hold yours.
As your hands meet on top of the table, you seem to be the only one who notices the look Joanna sends you at the display of affection.
•••
More days pass by and everyday they get home later and later until you're left going to bed on your own.
You'd made it a habit to wait for each other if one was out late, but it didn't happen often since you had almost the same working hours and when you went out, it was usually altogether.
You'd tried to keep that habit after your injury, but they were coming home later everyday, and you weren't sure you had it in you to keep staying up for them.
Especially on nights like this one, where when they do get home, you're dismissed almost entirely.
The door opens and you sit up, ready to greet them one by one with a hug and kiss, but most of them just mumble a "hey" or "hi Y/N" and walk straight to their rooms.
Only Jungkook and Seokjin genuinely acknowledge you, Jungkook giving you a hug and a peck on the forehead accompanied by a soft "Hi baby." before going to his room as well.
Seokjin also hugs you, but he picks you up while doing so: shifting you in his arms so he can carry you to bed with him.
As he begins to walk, your eyes meet and he sends a soft smile your way.
You barely start to relax in his hold when you realize that he's walking into your room, and you slightly panic at the thought that he's going to leave you alone in there.
Your slight panic turns into franticness as he sets you down and steps away from the bed.
"No! Don't-" Jin whips around at the sound of your voice, and you feel immediate guilt when you see his startled expression.
"Sorry, I- I know you're tired. Sorry, you can go."
Your attempts to decrease his worry don't seem to work, because he's already making his way back towards your bed.
"No, no. What happened? Whats wrong?"
"Its nothing." Seokjin gives you a stern look, you both know that lying to him is impossible.
"It's not nothing. Is it your leg? Or is it something else?"
"Its stupid" you mumble.
Noticing that you're unsure of yourself, he sits closer to you and brushes you hair out of your face in attempts to comfort you.
"Its not stupid if its bothering you" you feel your tears welling up again at how soft Seokjin's voice is. How soft he is with you.
"I just- I don't think I can be alone right now." You lean into his touch as you finally get at least some of the truth off your chest.
"You don't have to be. I was going to shower, do you want to join me?"
"I don't want to bother you."
"You won't."
"But my leg, I won't be able to stand for long."
"It's okay, we'll bring a stool in and I'll help you."
"But you're tired-"
"Never of taking care of you."
Something in your heart settles through the rest of the night, there is no other intention behind Seokjin asking you to join him.
He washes your hair and even dries it once you're out, he helps you get dressed and he goes to sleep holding you, and even if it's just for one night; all is right in the world again.
The next morning, Jin wakes you up and asks you if you'd like to come to rehearsal with the 7 of them. You're elated, to say the least. You knew it was a minimum thing, but your heart couldn't help but flutter at the thought that they wanted you around.
•••
Jin on the other hand, is pissed. Not at you, (never at you), but at his 6 boyfriends and how absolutely dense they could be, this being one of those moments.
He'd mentioned that you were coming with them, and all of them responded well: "I hope she likes the choreo!" "Yay! I want to hear what she has to say."
Their response to you tagging along wasn't the problem, no.
It was their response when he tried to tell them about how you were feeling that pissed him off:
"Wait guys, before we leave, I need to talk to you about something real quick."
All of them were attentive towards him immediately, so he thought they'd receive this better.
"It's about Y/N. And partially Joanna."
"Okay?"
"I talked to Y/N last night and she seemed upset. She didn't really want to talk about it but I'm almost completely sure that she's feeling left out, and I think it may partially be because of Joanna."
All of them begin to speak at once, until Taehyung's voice cuts through everyone else's.
"Why do you think it has something to do with Joanna?"
The 6 boys settle down and stare expectantly at Jin.
"Have you guys not noticed how backhanded all of Joanna's comments are towards her? Even when Y/N isn't present, she always makes a joke at her expense. And not to mention, we've been spending a lot of time with Joanna, much more than we've been spending with Y/N. I know if I were her I would feel hurt; being injured and spending the whole day cooped up alone while my boyfriends are spending all their time with someone who treats me like dog shit."
Jin wasn't sure what he was expecting the boys' reactions to be, but it definitely wasn't the outraged faces they were all giving him.
Jungkook is the first one to respond:
"I mean, I noticed the comments but I thought they were all in good fun? You know, since Y/N and Joanna have been friends for such a long time."
Taehyung cuts in next:
"And if Y/N is feeling left out, I mean I understand but what does that have to do with Joanna?"
Almost as if on cue, there's noise coming from the kitchen, meaning that you're awake.
Jin quickly gets up to go to you, but not before leaving the 6 boys with one final word, "Just pay attention to how she speaks to Y/N, you'll see what I'm talking about."
•••
It's hard to describe – the knowledge that you're being left behind without any obvious evidence surrounding you.
It's not something that everyone outside of your point of view might see, but you can feel it cutting through you deeply.
Not being able to do what you love, and on top of that, not being able to spend time with the people you love, it's a shattering feeling that claws through your chest.
Which leaves you where you are now: in the car with the rest of the boys on your way to rehearsal.
You thought that maybe being back in the studio would relight the spark that made the 7 men drawn to you in the first place, but even the car ride there felt cold and almost uncomfortable.
•••
The atmosphere changes the moment you step foot in the studio. It feels lighter, somehow. You don't know how to feel, not with the voice in your head insinuating that this lightness is because of Joanna; the guys are more at ease with Joanna than they are with you.
You usually hate being wrong: but now, you wish you could say the voice in your head was being irrational, yet you can't. Not when you turn around and see everyone besides Seokjin and Yoongi - who are off conversing to the side - gathered around Joanna, happily talking to her.
When did they stop looking at you like that?
Finally, she takes notice of your presence and makes her way over to you.
"Y/N, girly! Hey! Are you here to learn?"
You don't respond, confused as to what she's trying to ask you.
"Ya'know? Learn from the best! We've been so productive with this number."
She responds like it's the most obvious thing in the world, and you almost feel offended at what she's insinuating.
"Oh, um- I'm here to see what the guys have done."
Joanna blinks at you, as if your answer threw her off, before continuing.
"Oh. Ok then. Cool! And are the boys cool with that?"
You can tell, she wants this to sound passive aggressive. Kind on the surface, but a clear jab at your insecurities.
Jungkook quickly cuts in;
"Of course. Why wouldn't we be cool with that?"
Joanna stutters through her response, being caught off guard by Jungkook as she thought no one had heard her remark.
"Oh! I don't know, you might get distracted? You know?"
"We'll be fine."
This time it's Jin who answers, and even if it's a little selfish, you're glad that his tone towards Joanna is automatically cold.
"Okay thennnn!"
She turns to you:
"But if you start being a distraction I'll have to ask you to step out. Heh, step out. That's funny."
She giggles at her little joke (at your expense), and makes her way into the practice room.
Rehearsal continues as usual, and you feel a bit lighter as the boys all make jokes and include you while they stretch and warm up.
They start to run through the choreography, and your heart swells with pride seeing them dance; all their hard work really does pay off.
As much as you wish to get up and dance with them, or even get up at all, you know you can't. But just seeing them perform will do.
Once they finish, you start to clap and Jimin and Jungkook turn towards you with a playful vow.
"Its looking really good guys!"
All of the boys respond with a 'thank you' and a smile.
"I do have a couple pointers about some things I noticed-"
"Okay, let's run it again!" Before you could finish your sentence you're cut off by Joanna's squeaky voice.
Thankfully, Hoseok cares about what you have to say, and the rest seem to agree as well.
"Wait, I wanna hear what Y/N had to say."
"Yeah! It's felt weird learning a brand new number and not having any of your input on it."
"Y/N, go on." Seokjin is the one who speaks last, and the look in his eyes tell you that things will be alright.
"Ok, so first thing make sure you guys are agreeing on your directions, make sure that it's either a complete diagonal or if its a slanted move so you all move the same direction-"
"Oh yeah, I explained that to them already, they know." You're once again cut off by Joanna.
You use this as a chance to tease the boys, as you always normally.
"Oh, then why are y'all making that mistake huh?" Your tone is playful, and you see Hoseok step towards you with all the intent of playing along, when a gasp coming from your right stops you both.
"Did you come in here just to criticize?"
Of course it's Joanna.
"Wha- no. I was just teasing them. The dance looks grea-"
"I told you you were gonna distract them, and what did I say I was gonna do if you got them unfocused?"
"I didn't mean to, I was just giving pointers-"
"I've been teaching them for the last few weeks, I know what they need to focus on right now."
"But I know that it can look cleaner than it did right now."
"Well this is my choreography! I know what's best! You don't get to come in here and just start shitting on my work because what? You're jealous?! You think you're better than everyone else?!"
You're taken aback when Joanna starts to scream at you, so much so that you try to step back, completely forgetting that one of your feet is injured.
As you place your foot down, a soaring pain strikes from your foot all the way to your thigh. A sob escapes you and that's when Jin's protective nature kicks in full force.
In the blink of an eye, he's crouching next to you and picking you up while everyone else in the rooms stands frozen in place.
The ice is shattered when a wail comes from somewhere else in the room: it's Joanna.
Everyone's head whips to her direction, but for very different reasons.
Jin, for one, is beyond disbelief that she'd go as low as fake crying to get the attention back on her.
The rest of the guys seemed concerned, but not because of her. Rather because they just saw her true colors, how Jin was right, how they'd neglected you.
Seokjin picks you up and rushes out the door, leaving everyone else in the room frozen.
•••
You don't really process anything that happens afterwards. You just know Seokjin is with you as you go to the doctor to get your foot checked out, and that's enough to push you into a state where you know you can space out.
You couldn't comprehend it, how you were hurt and the rest of them weren't there.
Did they even care you were hurt?
It didn't make sense, that you were asking yourself this. When had things gotten this bad? How could they have let thing get this bad? It left you aching more than your injury, and you think that shouldn't even be possible.
When you get home, you find all the boys kitchen, a mess everywhere -much to Jin's despair- attempting to decorate what you assume is a cake. They're all focused to the point where they didn't hear you come in, and if they did, they're really good at acting like they didn't. You want to hide in your room, maybe ask Jin to hide with you, play into their ignorance, but the petty part in you is much quicker.
"Joanna doesn't like cake."
You speak without thinking about it first, and it's clear that none of them were expecting a comment like that, not even Jin, because their heads whip around instantly to you.
You panic for a little, thinking they'll get mad, but Hoseok and Yoongi start laughing at Namjoon's terrified face, at the maknae line looking like they're deer in headlights, and at Jin's round eyes.
Before you know it, They're all running up to you, and Seokjin has to grab you by the waist to make sure they don't knock you over.
They all speak at once, and you can only make out some things like "are you okay? what did the doctor say? im sorry." What cuts through all the rambling is Namjoon's smooth voice, sounding a bit exasperated as he speaks: "The cake is for you Y/N. We were making the cake for you."
Oh.
"Joon! You ruined the surprise!" Jimin stomps his feet, but you know he's not actually upset.
"Well we couldn't just let her think that we were baking a cake for fuckin Joanna!" Namjoon defends himself.
Yoongi steps in front of the two and turns to you, "It was supposed to be a 'Surprise / I'm sorry / We love you / Get well soon' cake but you got here before we finished."
His genuinely dejected demeanor makes you giggle, he looks like a sad cat.
"It's okay-"
"No it's not. Cake or not, we're all really sorry- hold on, we should sit down for this." Jungkook grabs your hand and leads you to the couch, the rest following suit.
You all sit in silence for a second before Hoseok speaks up:
"Well I guess I'll start." He sits up a little straighter so he's facing you directly, and you feel nerves run through you: was he upset? Was he going to scold you?
The guys seem to notice how you tense up, because Hoseok's face falls a into a small frown, while Jungkook scoots closer to you and Jin places a hand on your thigh.
"Y/N, I am so so sorry for the way we've been acting, and the way we haven't been acting. You got hurt under our watch, we should be the ones taking care of you, no questions asked, and we've failed to do that. There's really no excuse for how inattentive we've been. In our heads, or at least my head, I didn't really see you all day, so I thought that everything was okay because I still got to wake up to you, I still got to come home and feel comfortable knowing that you were here: we had your company. But I failed to return that company, we all failed to give you the bare minimum, and I truly am so sorry."
For the time you've know Hoseok, you've only seen him cry once or twice, so when you see tears start to fall from his eyes, it shakes you up and down. Before you can go console him, Jimin speaks up from where he sits beside Hoseok.
"Hobi's right, Y/N. We didn't pay you enough attention. We were too worried about ourselves to consider how our actions looked to you. The whole thing with Joanna, we did spend a lot of time with her, but even then, all we did was talk about you. Not in a bad way, obviously, but you just always came up in conversation. I don't know why I thought that talking about you would translate as 'we're still giving you our attention' as if you could read our thoughts or something. But again, we were selfish and careless, and I can't apologize enough for how we acted."
You appreciate Jimin's attempt at lightening up the mood, and you appreciate his words overall.
The next hour goes by in the same manner. The boys apologize one by one, not to just you, but to Seokjin as well, and before you know it, there's no one in the room that isn't crying, all of you a teary and snotty mess.
"We love you so much, Y/N. Please let us make it up to you. I love you so much." Yoongi's the last one to speak, and he finishes while walking up to you and bowing at your feet.
The rest of the guys join him, even Seokjin, and you don't know what else to do except throw yourself on the floor with all of them and cry.
The night ends with all of you cuddled up on the floor, until Namjoon and Jin make you all get up so you could go lay down properly.
They guys don't let you walk, no, Jungkook carries you while Taehyung and Jimin squish at his side in an attempt to stay close to you.
You all manage to squeeze into a single bed with you in the middle, hands everywhere trying to keep you close.
You feel warmer than you have in weeks, and meanwhile the guys do have a lot to make up for, with arms wrapped around you and sweet nothings floating in the room, you think this is a great start.

Co-parenting with Mat is interesting to say the least. Although, you’re not sure if you can even classify it as co-parenting because Nora still has no idea who Mat really is. She just knows that he now tags along with the two of you most places you go and she’s thrilled. Her questions for him are endless, asking about anything from hockey to what living in New York is like. She’s always been inquisitive, but this is a whole new level, even for her.
You have mixed feelings about this because while you are happy that they’re getting along, you’re worried what will happen at the end of the summer when Mat has to return to New York. There’s no way you and Nora can follow him, and co-parenting between Vancouver and New York? Impossible.
You’re sitting with Mat, both of you watching Nora play with some other kids on the playground. He’s been quiet but you can tell there’s something on his mind. Even though it’s been eight years, you still know Mat like the back of your hand and you know when he’s trying to decide whether or not to bring something up. You’re curious though, so you bump your knee against his and raise an eyebrow when he turns to you.
“What’s on your mind?” you ask and he smiles sheepishly.
“I was wondering if I could see some baby pictures,” he says quietly, and then adds, “of Nora,” as if he needs to specify. You were wondering when he was going to ask because his parents and Liana have already asked to see and asked for copies of all the pictures. Mat has been a little more reserved about most of it though, not asking questions about your pregnancy or for pictures of Nora as everyone else had.
“Yeah, of course,” you tell him, pulling your phone out and adding him to the shared album that his family is already in.
A smile tugs at the corner of his mouth and you watch him swipe through pictures, pausing at certain ones although you can’t see which. You’re a little nervous because there are ultrasound photos and pictures of you throughout your pregnancy. You don’t know how he’ll react, because he still hasn’t really expanded on his feelings about you not telling him about her other than what he said at the coffee shop. He’s spoken to his parents, you know that much from Liana, but he hasn’t said anything more to you.
“She looks like you,” he eventually says, “got your nose.”
“She has your eyes,” you counter and he smiles.
“Yeah,” he whispers and before he can say anything else, Nora plops down on the bench next to him and peers at his phone.
“Hey! That’s me!” she exclaims, pointing to the picture of her from Halloween last year.
“Really?” you pretend to be surprised, smiling when she rolls her eyes dramatically.
“Yes, mama. See? You said my eyes look like my dads.”
Mat tenses next to you. You’re sure he’s going to say something but instead he just smiles at Nora.
“They’re pretty nice eyes,” he agrees, ruffling her hair before she ducks out of his reach with a giggle.
“Mat, come push me on the swing!” she begs and he lets her pull him towards the swings without hesitation. You can’t help but grin at the pleased smile on Nora’s face and the way Mat does exactly what she wants without complaint. You know he would’ve definitely been the easygoing parent when Nora was younger and it makes you upset when you think too much about it because he should’ve been there for all her milestones and firsts. He should have been there when she crawled and then walked for the first time. He should have come with you when you dropped her off on her first day of Kindergarten and pretended he wasn't crying with you.
There are so many firsts that he should have been next to you and it’s slowly eating away at you because you took that away from him.But it was the right thing to do.
At least, that's what you tell yourself when you go to bed every night.
. . .
“So, how’s it going with Mat?” Jaxon asks, taking a sip of beer and giving you a knowing look. You regretted talking to Jax about your struggles the minute he started asking you the questions you didn’t want to hear. Your best friend is a little too observant sometimes and it always backfires.
“Fine,” you say shortly, staring into your wine glass. Nora is staying at your moms tonight, so you decided to invite your friend over, hoping to get some advice that would help you feel better instead of feeling like you’re being interrogated.
“Right,” he drawls, “that’s why you sent me a cryptic text and haven’t said anything else since “beer or wine?” right? I could be home with my boyfriend right now but you seemed like you were going to spiral and we all know exactly how that ends.”
“Things are fine,” you grumble. “He’s been absolutely perfect with her.”
“Alright, then what’s bothering you?”
“It’s just, I feel guilty, okay? Mat’s being better than I ever hoped to even think about and I feel like I shouldn’t have taken away his chance to be in her life before she was even born,” you say in one breath. “I keep thinking about the things he’s missed, and I feel like-”
Jax cuts you off before you can say anything else, holding up a hand. “Look, you did what you thought was best at the time. Was it necessarily fair? No. You can’t go back though, and you’re going to drive yourself insane if you keep thinking like this. You can’t change the past, but if he wants to be in her life now, and you’re okay with that, you need to make peace with your choices.”
Your shoulders deflate at his words, and you drink the remaining wine in your glass. He’s right about all of it and you hate that. You hate that he’s right and you hate that you can’t accept it.
“I need more wine,” you mumble, standing up and making your way to the kitchen. You don’t usually drink, definitely not since Nora, but you let yourself indulge every now and then. Besides, Jax has always been a bad influence.
You’ve just finished pouring the glass when there’s a knock on your door. You look at the time on the microwave and frown, unsure who would be knocking at eleven o’clock on a Friday night. If anything was wrong, your mom would have called and you don’t have many friends that would make a late night visit.
Abandoning your wine, you walk to the door and open it and come face to face with Mat who looks nervous and definitely like he would rather be anywhere but here.
“Uh, hey?” you say but it sounds more like a question. He doesn't seem to be drunk and you don’t know what else would warrant a late night drop in.
“Hey,” he says and just because you have the best luck, Jax decides that now is the right time to follow you to the door.
“Your phone is ringing, and it’s your mom,” he says, freezing when he sees Mat standing there. He looks uncomfortable, and when you turn to Mat, all you see is fury.
See, the problem is, despite nothing romantic going on between you and Jax, relationship talk wasn’t something that you and Mat had brought up. He didn’t bring up his girlfriend, and so far, nobody besides your mom has been around when Mat was with you and Nora. Also, throw in the fact that you’re sure Mat has no idea who Jax is, it’s easy to make assumptions.
“Nevermind,” Mat says shortly, “I’ll leave you to your night.”
You grab his wrist before he can leave, wanting to clear all this up even though it shouldn’t really matter if you were dating someone.
“Wait,” you say and he stops but keeps his back to you.
“Nora woke up and wants to talk to you,” Jax says, breaking the silence and you hesitate, not wanting Mat to leave but knowing you need to talk to your daughter. He seems to sense your dilemma, because he hands you your phone, slips his shoes on and squeezes past you and Mat, calling out "I'll call an uber”, before walking down the hallway of your apartment building.
You feel like an awful friend, and you’ll definitely be making it up to him but you pull Mat inside, shutting the door before holding the phone up to your ear.
“Nora?”
“No,” your mom says softly, “I’ll put her on now.”
You thank her quietly, waiting until you hear your daughter's voice. She’s sniffling, and tells you about the bad dream she had, asking if you can come pick her up. Your mom is trying to comfort her on the other line but it’s no use because she’s set on coming home.
You glance at your wine glass sitting on the counter and curse yourself because this is exactly why you try not to drink.
Mat, as if he is reading your thoughts, says “I’ll go pick her up and bring her here.”
He still looks irritated but his expression softened since he heard Nora. You wouldn’t take him up on his offer but you know how much your mom hates driving in the dark so you just nod, watching him shake his hand out of yours and your face heats up when you realize you hadn’t let go.
“Be back in twenty,” he says before leaving.
“Mat’s on his way to get you, sweetie,” you tell Nora. “He’ll pick you up and bring you straight home, okay?”
She sniffles again and says a quiet, “okay,” before presumably handing the phone back to your mom who you tell that Mat is going to pick her up. She doesn't say anything, but you know she wants to. You realize she probably thinks that he was here with you and your instinct is to correct her but you don’t bother. You thank her and apologize, before bidding goodbye with a promise to let her know when Nora and Mat make it back home.
You clean up while you’re waiting, dump your glass of wine down the sink and start making the couch up so Mat can just sleep here instead of going all the way back to his house after making the trip to pick Nora up.
It’s not long before you hear the door open and close quietly and you look to see Mat carrying a sleeping Nora inside.
“She fell asleep on the drive here,” he explains. “Didn’t want to wake her.”
You nod, pointing him in the direction of her room before sitting on the couch waiting until he comes back. You want to have whatever conversation the two of you need to have even though you know it won’t be a good one.
He’s quiet when he walks into the living room and hesitates before sitting on the couch next to you. You both sit in silence for a minute until you sigh, dropping your head into your hands.
“Jax is a friend,” you mumble. “But even if he wasn’t, you have no place being mad about it.”
“I wasn’t mad,” he argues, “I was caught off guard. I didn’t know you were dating because you hadn’t brought it up.”
“I’m not dating,” you repeat and he sighs.
“I know.”
Another minute of silence before you raise your head and look at him.
“What about you? What happened to your girlfriend?” you ask, even though you know she left.
He shrugs, “she left. Said she wanted no part in raising a child. Not that she would have had any place in Nora’s life if I had a say.”
“Of course you have a say,” you say.
He looks at you with an unreadable expression on his face. You forget sometimes how good looking he is and it’s probably the alcohol that makes your brain fuzzy but all of a sudden, you just miss him. It’s not just physical attraction either, you can’t help but remember how considerate, loving and caring he was when you dated. You were both young, but it always felt like the two of you would be together forever even though you always knew in the back of your mind that he would have to leave one day and you wouldn’t be able to follow him.
Despite doing your best to forget about him, to get over him the past eight years, the love you felt for him never went away.
“Do you ever think about us? About what could’ve been?” you ask quietly.
“Always,” he says gently with a softness in his eyes that you’ve only seen directed towards Nora since he came back into your life.
“Me too,” you whisper.
He hesitates before lifting a hand and brushing a piece of loose hair that’s fallen in front of your face, tucking it behind your ear. His hand lingers for a moment, fingertips just barely brushing against your cheek. Your eyes close and you let yourself have this one moment, one minute where you can imagine that you’re seventeen again, laying on your bed with Mat’s arms holding you, whispering empty promises about forever to each other. Just kids in love, thinking forever was possible.
But you’ll never be those kids again.

"this whole thing is a mess"
Tumblr media
♡ tooru oikawa x reader - 1.3k ♡ warnings - none other than oikawa himself (and some ugly baby shenanigans) ♡ notes - hi! i'm purple and this is my first post, enjoy! (prompt credit from @creativepromptsforwriting)
Tumblr media
It was a mess.
A big, tremendous, nearly-unfixable mess.
The day started off normal enough, you in your comfy gray sweat, loose shirt (that may or may not belong to Oikawa), a book you’ve been overdue to read in your hands. As your eyes scanned the pages, your attention was drawn away as you began to the thump thump thump of someone running up the stairs. And unless someone had broken into your house, you already knew who was currently making their way towards your bedroom.
As if on cue, a familiar ruffle of brunette hair came into view as said person came barreling through your door. For an athlete, it always bemuses you how Oikawa always got so winded running up your stairs.
You patiently wait for him to catch his breath. Finally, after he had decided that enough air had entered his lungs, he looked up and if you knew any better from the look in his eyes, you could already tell he was about to tell the most ridiculous thing ever. Because your boyfriend wouldn’t be doing the world justice if he were one for the dramatics.
“You would not believe what I just found out.”
Staring at him for a few seconds, you roll your eyes, close your books and turn your whole body to face him. This was gonna take a while. “Okay I’ll bite. Tell me what you found out.”
If you squint hard enough, you could almost see the joy gleaming in his eye from the fact that he caused you to turn your whole attention to him. But it quickly disappeared as he crossed the room and plopped down face first onto your bed, arms wide, and began whining.
You should convince him to take up theater.
“Come on Tooru, tell me what you came all the way up here for or I’m going back to my book,” Turning his face, Oikawa looked at you and gave his signature pout. If you called him out for it, he would vigilantly deny it.
“Did you remember when you went over to my mom's house a week ago?”
“When we visited for new years? Yeah I remember, remind me later to ask her for her mochi recipe.”
“Yeah, yeah. So you remember when the two of you decided to torture me by looking at my baby photos?” Honestly, he was the one torturing you with the way he was loudly complaining with each flip of the photo album.
If it wasn’t already obvious by the media attention, countless photo-shoot bookings, and (to his dismay) amount of fanfic being written about him, Oikawa Tooru was a very handsome man. Some might even argue (you) that the word pretty comes to mind when talking about the Argentina National Volleyball Team’s setter.
But a little secret that he had and would rather take to the grave is that he was a very, very ugly baby. At least by his standards. You have a running theory that he only thinks that way because Iwaizumi liked to taunt him about it, especially when they were younger.
“Yes Tooru, although I’ve told you pointless times that you were a very normal looking baby, I do recall looking at photos with your mom.” Reaching a hand out from under the warm blanket, you grab his hand that is closest to you and intertwine your fingers. You swear his pout lessens a little before he continued telling you about his current dilemma.
“Well I was scrolling online and you will not believe what I saw” Sitting up without disconnecting your hands, he sits on the bed, brown eyes now directly across from you.
“Well she. Posted. The. Photos.”
A beat of silence passed as he just stared at you, straight faced and serious.
And then you break eye contact by letting out a short laugh, which apparently broke a dam inside you because your free hand came up to cover your mouth as you tried to suppress the fit of giggles you couldn’t hold back anymore.
Oikawa just continues to stare at you, but now he had a dumbfounded expression on his face, as if he hadn’t just told you the worst possible thing to ever happen to him. Realizing you weren’t gonna stop, Oikawa lets out a long drawn whine, closing the gap in between the two of you and throwing his arms around your body, pressing his face into your neck.
The position caused you to uncover your mouth and now the only sound filling the room was your unfiltered laughs. As much as Oikawa loved listening to the noise, he hugged you tighter hoping you would eventually stop being entertained by his misfortune.
“Why do you hate me, babe. What have I done to deserve this mistreatment?”
As your laughter finally dies down, you reach your arms around and hug him back, rubbing one palm up and down his back as the other hand carded his brown moppy hair through your fingers. Your bedroom was now engulfed by a (rare) moment of peaceful silence as you felt him breathing into your neck.
“Has anyone ever told you that you’d have a knack for always being the most dramatic person in a room” A pause before his response.
“...no” An obvious lie, but you let it slide.
“Alright, what are people saying about your photos though? Can’t be that bad”
Sitting up straight again, his arms were still wrapped around your body so he had to crane his neck to look down at you and you find yourself doing a similar motion to look up at him. If anyone else saw the two of you like this, they might find the positioning comedic.
“It’s terrible. Absolutely horrible. This whole thing is a mess. The entire world is making fun of me as we speak.”
Rolling your eyes, you reach for your phone on the nightstand and begin searching for his mother’s post which wasn’t hard considering you closely followed her actively due to her weekly recipe post. And just as you presumed, Oikawa’s mom’s most recent post was a picture of some photos from the album the two of you looked at a few days ago.
You could tell they were pictures of Oikawa during his infant years, but only because you were able to see it in person but…. When you closely examined the post, you were astonished that anyone could even tell what the photo was off. Even though mama Oikawa had skills in the kitchen and taking pictures of the foods she makes, the woman wasn’t as skilled when photographing other things.
“Babe, literally no one can tell what this is a picture of. If I didn’t know any better, it just looks like she took a picture of a photograph of a loaf of bread and posted it.” A gasp falls from his lips, causing you to look back up at him.
“Are you saying I look like a loaf of bread? How dare you!” You are practically rendered speechless.
“No! I’m saying that unless people have seen the real thing, there is no way anyone would guess that it’s a photo of you as a baby. And I’m looking at the comment section right now, no one is saying anything about you, most people are asking what it even is.”
“What? I swear people were saying stuff” Snatching your phone, he also begins to scroll before he comes across a comment that read:
that’s the stupidest looking baby I’ve ever seen
Turning the phone to show you, he pointed at the words on the screen, giving you a wide eyed I-told-you-so look.
“See??” Looking at him, you gave Oikawa a blank stare.
“Tooru, Hajime is that one who commented that” Flipping the screen back around, his eyes quickly scan for the person who typed out the atrocious words and staring right back at him is Iwa-chan’s username, and profile pic of the gym he worked at.
“Oh”
Pondering his existence, Oikawa almost misses the snort you let out if it wasn’t for the explosion of laughter you let out.
Again

Hi, Sara, How are you doing? Hope everything is okay.
I've been Listening Golden on Repeat and I have this request.
What about a OT7 reaction of reader Listening to Hate You on repeat and getting worried that they might want to break up with them. It's up to you the ending on each member.
Because personally I've been doing it because even if the lyrics are sad it brings me so much calm just listening to JK's Voice.
P.S. Thank You for Sharing your work with us 💜
S/o Playing ‘Hate You’ by Jungkook on Repeat
Ot7 x Reader
Warnings: none
A/N: I’m doing good, hope you are too💜 Thank you for this request! This is actually something I do quite a lot(I type as I play ‘gone away’ by skz for the third time today), sad songs are just so soothing sometimes. I hope these are okay!
Masterlist
Requests are open
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
Jin: As soon as he hears you play it more than twice in a row, he’s buying you flowers and doting on you in any way he can think of, like “You know I love you, right? We’re okay, yeah?”. He’d save himself a lot of trouble if he’d just ask you abt it, but at least he means well.
Yoongi: He’s not that worried at first, cause I mean, it’s just a song, but he doesn’t wanna take any chances and ends up asking you if there’s anything you wanna talk about, wanting to know what’s on your mind. Once you tell him that everything’s okay, he’s cool.
Hobi: Side-eyeing you immediately like, “Are you good? Are we good?”. He tends to get in his own head way too easily, so it doesn’t take much to stir up his worries. After you explain everything's fine, he relaxes a bit, but you’ll probably notice him being a lil clingier than usual for a bit.
Namjoon: Tbh, he’s a Virgo, so he gets it, lol. No but seriously, he understands that sometimes certain songs just scratch the right part of your brain, so he’s not that bothered by it. If it persists for a few days tho, he’s gonna ask if everything’s okay.
Jimin: Lowkey worried, though he tries to brush it off the first few times he hears you playing it, but quickly gives in and asks if everything’s alright. He’s relieved of course once you explain, but he’s definitely being extra affectionate for the next few days, just to be sure.
Taehyung: Ngl, he might not notice at first, but once he does, he’s his usual dramatic self abt it, like “Why do you keep playing that one?! Did I do something?!” When you tell him you just like the song, he eases up, but you might catch him doing extra little things for you, just cause.
Jungkook: At first, he’s just happy that you seem to like the album so much, until he realizes that you just keep playing that one song, and then he’s like 🥺“Umm, Babe? Everything good?” Once you explain, he’s even happier than before, will even sing it for you if you want.

Give Me Toothaches Just From Kissing Me
"But March 10th was two weeks ago!" Time doesn't exist. Happy Birthday to Bucky Barnes
The first time Sam had gotten Bucky a birthday cake, it was a joke. It was 2016, just a few scant months before their whole operation went to hell in a handbasket, and Sam had texted Bucky without expectation of a reply. Just a picture of the view from his fancy hotel balcony in Monaco or something, with a fancy chocolate cake on the wide balcony ledge. He was in town for a military tech conference, so his morning jogging schedule had been interrupted. Eating a whole cake on his own over four days would totally be in the realm of possibility.
An hour later, when Sam was more than half a bottle of wine down and two albums in on a 'crooners' playlist, a shadow peeled itself off of the wall and greeted him with a, "Hey, birdbrain."
Sam, perhaps, did not do any work towards proving that nickname stupid by flailing dramatically and knocking the cake with his forearm. With twin movements, they watched the cake sail to the ground seven stories below and explode into a shower of sugar and cream. Then they turned to look at each other. There were three beats of shocked silence and then they both burst into laughter together.
"That was a really good cake," Sam whined in between the laughter as he leaned into Bucky's space and Bucky wrapped an arm around his shoulders.
"Yeah, I could tell. You already had half."
"I didn't figure you were gonna actually show up," Sam pointed out.
"Why wouldn't I show up? You called."
"That hasn't stopped you before," Sam pointed out. He spent a few extra seconds staring at the mangled cake on the ground before he sat back on the balcony furniture. Bucky followed him down. He kept his arm around Sam until it was unfeasible, and then he let his hand fall to Sam's, fingers tangling together. Sam allowed it because it was his birthday, even though it was vastly out of the range of usual activities for them.
"Well, this time I was promised cake," he added after a few seconds of amiable quiet.
Sam looked over at him to discern if he was serious or not. The grin pulling at his usually severe mouth said all Sam needed to know. They burst into quiet giggles again.
“Good thing I got all the sweetness I need right here,” Bucky eventually conceded. He tucked a knuckle under Sam’s jaw and leaned in to kiss him beneath the moon and the lights and everything but a cake.
. . .
The second time Sam tried to give Bucky cake, it was a year later. It felt almost impossible that the world had slowed down around them long enough to justify an impromptu visit to Wakanda to check in on Bucky.
When their jet had touched down, Bucky was waiting for them with a wide smile that Sam had never really seen before. "Now, I know I told T'Challa not to do anything for my birthday, but he went a step further and got me everything I didn't want," he joked as he and Steve collided in a fierce hug, the kind of thing that always made Sam want to look away.
Then Bucky was extricating himself from Steve's hold so he could crowd around Sam instead, ducking his face down to Sam's neck as he squeezed his waist. If it was supposed to be a hug, it was like no hug Sam had ever had. He could get used to it though. After a few heartbeats shared between them, Sam pinched Bucky's hip and stepped back.
"Hey, old man," he greeted. Bucky grinned at him, boyish and a little smitten. It was a look Sam was more familiar with. "Happy birthday."
"Is that what this is about? You stop paying attention after 90," Bucky joked. For a split second, his fingers lingered over Sam's but he didn't take his hand--Sam didn't take Bucky's either--and he turned back to Steve to amble along together as they instantly fell into a conversation like they hadn't just been apart for the better part of half a year.
By the time they got around to dinner and a small party, Sam felt silly for bringing a dozen store bought cupcakes--hidden away in his room upstairs. The dinner had been more of a feast, despite Bucky's protestations, and the dessert spread that followed was unlike anything Sam had ever seen. No expensive wedding or VA event or Stark fundraiser held a candle to the cakes and cookies and sweet bars that were available. Sam ate more Wakandan desserts than he could name American desserts and each one was better than the last. Bucky, for all his talk of not wanting anything, had at least sampled every chocolate food on the table and gone back for full servings of most of them.
By the time they managed to crawl into Bucky's room--which branched off into Steve and Sam's rooms and connected bathrooms--all of them were groaning about stomach aches and sugar comas. Bucky crawled under his blankets, becoming nothing more than a groaning lump, and Steve settled along the bench at the end of the bed, laying back on it and resting a hand over his stomach, while burping and then apologizing every few minutes.
Sam ducked into his room while the others settled and grabbed the two bags from him and Steve, as well as the plastic carton of cupcakes. It was absolutely not going back with him at this point. His stomach hurt just looking at it.
Back in Bucky's room, he passed off the bounty. Bucky set aside the gift bags, but his eyes gleamed at the sight of more sweets.
"Come on, open the gifts," Sam jostled, sitting on the bed nearest where Bucky was sprawled.
"Nah, I'll look at them later," he said as he peeled the safety seal sticker away from the cupcakes.
"Oh, come on," Steve laughed. "You're still shy?"
"I'm not shy," Bucky snapped. "I'm civilized. Not everyone has to tear into their gifts as soon as they're within reach."
Sam snorted and tried to hide it from Steve.
"I do not do that," Steve objected, but not with much conviction. Actually, he wasn't that bad, Sam had to admit. But clearly Bucky had better stories than Sam.
“What are these?” Bucky asked instead of fighting a battle he knew he’d already won. He took the cupcakes and deftly opened the package without making a cacophonous sound, which meant he knew perfectly well what they were and clearly had had his share of them.
“I know they’re not anything special after that whole show,” Sam acknowledged, waving his hand in the general direction of the kitchens. “But these are packed so full of preservatives, you’ll be able to keep ‘em until his birthday,” he joked with a gesture towards Steve.
“Way to sell ‘em, Wilson,” Bucky chuckled. He was already halfway through one of the cupcakes and he held a blue one out to Steve. It was the middle of march, so most of the predesigned things were spring flavored. This set, blues and greens swirled around, was about as festive as Sam could find. “I love the frosting on these things,” he added around a mouthful of cupcake.
Steve shot Sam a knowing, slightly gloating look. He’d been the one to insist Bucky would enjoy these, no matter what else was going on with the day. Then he shoved the entire cupcake in his mouth just like Bucky because apparently manners hadn’t been invented yet back in the ‘40s. Sam shook his head at their antics, both of them trying to one up the other until almost the whole carton was gone.
Bucky reached over to snag a smear of frosting off of Steve’s cheek and sucked his knuckle into his mouth while Steve cried foul about uneven division of frosting.
“You two are gross,” Sam laughed and made sure his own face was devoid of any frosting before their turned their attention on him.
It didn’t work. By the time Bucky had turned his playful, teasing expression on Sam, his eyes had darkened just a little and one eyebrow rose in a challenge.
“No,” Sam warned, holding up the half of a cupcake still in his hand. “Whatever it is, no.”
But Bucky didn’t listen. He reached out to and shoved the cupcake against Sam’s cheek, frosting first, then pinned him back against the headboard with a broad hand across Sam’s shoulder and collarbone. Sam swallowed thickly, couldn’t help the way he went lax beneath Bucky’s weight as the other man settled across his thighs and leaned forward to lick a stipe of the icing off of Sam’s cheek.
“Stevie, you might wanna think about gettin’ to your own room,” Bucky warned without taking his dark, hungry stare off of Sam.
“Ah, come on. You two are gross,” Steve complained, but he did hustle out of the room pretty quickly. Took a cupcake for the road.
Sam tried to put some structure back in his bones, tried to posture up under Bucky’s hold. He reached up for the frosting, wiped most of it off of himself, and then smeared it across Bucky’s cheek, down to his mouth.
That mouth split into a grin before it was against Sam’s, lips parted, tongue hungry as he licked over Sam’s lips, chasing after the frosting he was depositing.
Sam had to admit: this may be better than the desserts downstairs.
. . .
The next time he actually got to sit still for Bucky’s birthday, it was a few lifetimes later. He had every intention of sleeping in just a little bit, skipping his run to get up before everyone else and make a cake, wake up the house to the smell of chocolate and buttercream, the way his mama used to always.
Instead, he slept in a lot a bit and woke up to the sound of nothing short of chaos in the kitchen. Sarah was out already, he surmised when he finally dragged himself upright and grabbed his phone from where it had fallen the night before to check the time. He and Bucky had gotten in late the night before, stuck in New York doing paperwork after some giant worm appeared out of a sinkhole in New Jersey. He had no idea how Bucky had the energy to get up, much less start making noise in the kitchen.
Groggily, maybe a little grumpily, he pulled on a hoodie and a pair of shorts that wouldn’t aggravate all of the scrapes he was covered in and went out to see what was happening.
Bucky did make it a point to clean up the kitchen any time he was near it. Especially after himself, but even when Sarah cooked. He insisted that she did the cooking, so he should do the cleaning. And somehow this reflected badly on Sam, as far as Sarah was concerned, which seemed unfair. Sam cleaned plenty.
The cleaning never seemed to justify the mess beforehand.
“What in the world is going on here?” Sam asked, leaning on the wide doorjamb that led into the kitchen.
Cass whirled around first, clutching a too large mixing bowl to his chest. “Nothing!” he exclaimed.
AJ, less practiced in the ways of subterfuge, said, “We’re making cupcakes! For Bucky,” he clarified
Bucky, who was remarkably clean for the amount of flour and egg otherwise splashed across the kitchen, grinned at Sam. “I didn’t ask, by the way. They brought it up. I dunno how you and Sarah say no to these little faces.”
AJ preened and gave another spin with the spatula, sent more frosting over the edge of his too-small bowl.
“You guys are working at a disadvantage, trynna listen to Bucky,” Sam said, coming into the kitchen. “I know you know how to use paper towels. Why does the kitchen look like this?”
Cass let out a little noise of guilt, but Bucky saved him from having to answer by producing a roll of paper towel from behind himself. “It’s probably supposed to be my job, but I’m a better taste tester.”
“Uncle Sam, is it true he can’t get salmonella ‘cause of the super soldier serum?” Cass asked.
“Can I have some?” AJ added.
Sam shot Bucky an unimpressed look, but he was nothing but cheeky smiles and not a shred of embarrassment. “I guess we’re gonna find out if it’s true or not,” he said. He snagged the paper towels from Bucky to begin wiping up at least the bits of cracked egg that lined every countertop. “Lucky it’s me in here and not your mama.”
Cass made the same kind of noise again as he searched for a place to put down his mixing bowl. It must be an oldest sibling gene, because Sam remembered Gideon making the exact same kind of sounds. Usually when Sam was about to do something like jump off the stair bannister.
“Mom’s out at the restaurant,” AJ said, unbothered. He was usually unbothered.
“Come here,” Sam said, gesturing more for AJ to make space than for him to actually move closer. “Bucky let you pick the wrong bowl, so you’ve gotta be careful,” he said, holding AJ’s hand as he held onto the spatula. “Go slow, like this.”
He looked up as AJ failed to do that, more frosting going flying, and caught Bucky’s eye. Bucky grinned again, soft and lovely in the mid-morning light coming through the kitchen window.
“A guy could get used to this view,” he said with a warm honey tone.
“A guy will not,” Sam said. “Get to actually cleaning.”
Bucky gave him the laziest of salutes and took the paper towels back.
By the time Sarah came home, with balloons and, hilariously, an ice cream cake, the kitchen was clean and they’d managed to make the best cupcakes Sam had ever had.
. . .
It took finding their own place, saving the world a few hundred times, a lot of missed events, and one perfect spring day for Sam to finally have a cake on the table on Bucky’s birthday. Handmade, from the same recipe he always got for his birthdays as a kid.
“Happy birthday, old man,” he said, kissing Bucky’s temple.
Bucky caught Sam’s hand against his shoulder, tugged him down to sprawl across Bucky’s lap. “Is that what all this is about?” Bucky teased, like he did almost every time Sam tried to do anything for his birthday, no matter how delayed the celebration was.
“Yeah, yeah,” Sam laughed. He dragged the cake closer and lit the handful of candles–he was not putting a hundred candles on a cake–before sitting back a little. “Make a wish before you keel over.”
Bucky laughed, bright and loud, and his arms tightened around Sam. “I haven’t had to wish for anything for a long time, Sammy.” And he kissed Sam without even trying to blow out the candles.

Tumblr media
The preparation for new year's is going so well
So well, that you haven't realized how tired you really are
You're so productive that you've used too much of energy on yourself for working to prepare for the party
You wanted this to be perfect
You want everything to be settled in according to your plan
Eddie knows that you're always so "serious" when it comes to decoration and especially when there's an occasion
He loves you for it though, you just don't throw parties
You throw the greatest parties all the time and you never missed
All of your friends are in there, Steve, Robin, Jonathan, Nancy, Argyle and the freaking kids that you always adored so much
You looked around at everyone in the room
Jeff and Gareth are bantering at each other with some album, Dustin and Lucas fight over which 80's fantasy film is the best, Steve, Robin and Eddie surprisingly getting along with the same pop music artist, you could see the three of them geeking at each other
Max and Jane do makeover at each other which aches your heart of seeing them so close to each other, it's really so sweet to have a real girl bestfriend like that
"I'm gonna refill your glass" Nancy pasts over to you snatching the glass on your hand so swiftly that it makes you snap out of your head
You slowly trying to register what just happened and you smile finally
"More wine? really?" You say as you watch her fill your glass with wine
"Uh, yeah?" she replies with a dramatical jerk to her head as you chuckle
"But it's only 9pm!" you exclaim with wide eyes but a fond smile on your lips
"are you saying that we should only be drinking when the clock finally strikes 12?!?" she says while she fills her cup, she takes glances at you and back to her glass
"Ah- yes, that! exactly!" you point to her using your index finger as you holding your glass of wine
You could already feel yourself getting drowsy a little bit from the wine
Red wine will always make you feel sleepy
You don't even know if it's the alcohol or you just really need to doze off for a minute before you could scream at the top of your lungs for 2024
You don't even know how many glasses that you already take
"Did we just finished the whole bottle?" You feel the world is spinning on you
Nancy, your bestfriend- raises the bottle in front of you as she snorts at your disapproval look
"Kinda?" she says slurring as she smirks at you
"What do you mean? Kinda?!"
"Hey- woah!"
Jonathan passes by and bless him for his instincts because Nancy would've been knocked her head on the counter as she starts stumbling from her stance, he catches her on time
Nancy giggled as you rolled your eyes in annoyance, massaging your forehead
He saw the look from your face as he chuckles
"She got too far again, huh?"
"Yeah, she always does, Jonathan, nothing's new" you reply as you also can't walk properly
"Wait- don't move- should I call-"
Before Jonathan can finish his words, the voice of your boyfriend booms out of nowhere while Argyle tails behind him, looking at you and Nancy
"Sweetheart- how you've-"
Eddie clocked the wine bottle from Nancy hand
"Did you dr-"
"Don't even try it, Ed's" you placed your palm over his mouth as you stumble forward, he immediately wraps his arms around you as you started pressing all of your weight against his chest making the male laugh as he gently hold the back of your head
"Y'all getting drunk already? It's not even 12am yet" Argyle with his iconic tone, you seriously have no idea which one of his voice is normal
You've never heard him talk in normal voice before so you're used to him having that voice that sounds so freaking high as fuck
But, he's a good bud tho, so hilarious
"Blame her, not me! Eddie tell them!" You defend yourself as you put your chin onto his chest as you look at him with a pout on your lips, he smiles as he ruffles his face against yours making your face scrunch up from his action, he laughs again
"What's with all of the commotion?" Steve arrives with hands on his hips
"The two got their selves drunk again" Jonathan points to you and to his girl
"As if that's new" Robin appears in the corner with her arms crossed leaning against the side of the wall
Steve chortles "Wait- you got hustled by Nancy again?"
You groaned from Steve's teasing "yeah, I always fail to see that, thanks" you say
"I told you, you shouldn't brought the wine here, you moron!" Robin uncrosses her arms finally figuring out where the wine misplaced her eyes widen when she saw Nancy holding it, she snatches it making her bite a laugh as Jonathan also connecting the dots at the scene
He pressed his lips together to not burst from laughter
Argyle watches both of his friends having a fit of unnecessary argument
"I think I need to grab a popcorn for this" he leaves abruptly as he looked at your kitchen cabinets and came back munching in a bag of popcorn, very entertained at the scene
"I-I don't know how she got it!"
"Did you hide it properly!?"
"Look- Robs-"
Robin clicks her tongue as she asks "Nancy, how did you get the wine bottle?!"
She turns around with a lopsided smile as Jonathan steadys her
"I just saw it hanging around but-"
"But?"
"I think Steve" she points at him as she chuckles making the boy winces as he finally remembered of what he's done
"Forgotten about it that he left it out there, soooo" she giggles again making Robin grumble as she raises both of her eyebrows at Steve
"Oh- come on!" Steve runs his fingers through his hair as he decides to turn back leaving all of you
"Hey! don't you walk out on me! I paid for that expensive shit-" Robin follows him as she starts pointing everything on him
Argyle, Jonathan, Nancy and Eddie all laughing at the scene while meanwhile you, Eddie could hear you chuckle a bit but you made a little hum
He draws back his attention at you, he looks down at you
"I think I need to doze off for a minute" you say to him with your sleepy eyes
He smiles as he kisses the top of your head he put his arms around you "Yeah, sure"
Eddie says to Jonathan and the rest that you and him will be out for a while, they all nod and said "Don't be late for the countdown"
Your boyfriend leads you to your bedroom as you throw yourself at your bed as he closes the door walking towards you, you lay behind your back as you stretch your whole body, Eddie chuckles at your tipsy behavior
"I love my bed"
"Yeah, you always do"
"Uh huh"
He snickers "Okay, honey, are you well? are you sober?" He leans down at you
"Eddie- you know the alcohol hits harder at Nancy right?"
"I'm just checking you know to see if my girl's alright" he shrugs as he put his hands inside of his pockets
"I'm very much, okay, eds- I'm sssleepy" you yawn as you feel your eyes dropping until it shuts completely
He chuckles as he shakes his head he leans down as he kisses your forehead you smile at the gesture as it makes you even heavier to fall asleep
Eddie watches you sleep as he stands over at the window
The neighborhood outside is quite a watch, everyone is having fun, everyone is having a blast
The music outside is dull but he can hear all of his friends laughter and the screams of excitement from them
He shifts from where he standing as he tears off his eyes from the outside of your window and goes back at you
You turned on the other side, so you're now facing him as you snuggle against your pillow
Eddie smiles to himself, he feels so good having you in his life
He walks towards you as he moves the fallen hair strand on your face
His eyes softens as he sats down beside you
You stirred up from the movement on the bed as you try to open your eyes, you smiled when you realized it's Eddie
You pulled him closer beside you as he lets you take him laying down with you
He put his other arm over you as you cuddled against his chest almost hugging him in the process
You feel more cozier and even more sleepier than before
The moment you move your leg over to his
Your skirt rise up exposing more bare skin to him, his breath hitches at the sight of it
He looks down at you, he double thinked- maybe- it's a bad idea to do this but he wants you so badly right now
He shouldn't even be thinking that you will get mad because hell-
You trust him
So.....
He starts sinking down beside you, you moved slightly as he continues to do his work
He plants hot kisses over your neck when finds your sweet spot- you hum lightly
He's now on top of you, holding your hips, he's positioning you laying on your back, your head is on the side, still sleeping peacefully
He goes over to your chest, you're wearing tube top with a zipper in front, so he has a access to your bare chest, he kisses more and more
Your body couldn't even register what's going on
You felt hot and cold all over because of the midnight's weather and from your body heating up from the tension that your boyfriend is giving you
You feel him going lower and lower but you can still feel your eyes tired
He watches your soft heaves from chest rising up and down, his eyes darkened when he puts his hand inside of your skirt, he slowly reaches at the hem of your panties
He licks his lips, your skin feels on fire because of his fingertips, your stir from your sleep once again but still not opening your eyes
He doves onto your lips, kissing you, and you hummed as you lazily kissed him back
"May I?"
You move your head onto the other side, you catch a glimpse of the clock, it says 11:20pm
"Ed's, we might get late-" even though, you want him to do it
"Please"
You're not even opening your eyes yet but you can see his pleading eyes being directed at you
"Yes, Eddie, you can have me, take it all" you sank down further making Eddie groaned when his fingers touched your center, it's drenched
He hook his fingers on your underwear along with your skirt discarded on the floor
You shudder at the cool air as Eddie positioning himself comfortably
He smears kisses on the inside of your thighs as he goes closer and closer to your core
You moved your head on the other way as you try to close your legs when you can't help but feel the arousal that's coming in
But he places his palms on the sides of your legs spreading you open as you can feel of your insides burning from his touch
His hands are everywhere, when the moment he swiped his fingers at your core, you released lewd noises as your breathing goes quicker
He licked his finger cleaning it off with his tongue, he grins down at you
He holds your hips as he leans down
"Ed-"
Before you can finish your sentence, he doves down lapping at your juices as you gasp from his sudden action
His eyes are glued to you as he continues to do his work, watching your once peaceful slumber turns into pleasure
He devours you so satisfying that it's making you close your legs, he smirks as you can feel his tongue go lower inside, you mewled
He holds you tightly as you grip on the sheets, he sucked more and more of you until your can feel your legs shake
You can feel his hand reaching on the hem of your top, you slightly open your eyes as you find the zipper as you pull it down
He grunts when he saw your breasts that he worships everyday, you loved the way he admires your body
You're now naked so divinely displayed for him
His free hand kneads your boobs as you moaned, he dives back down as he starts to bully your clit
You can feel your body tremble from the sensation forming up in your stomach
You reached for his hair as you pull it making his eyes grow hungrier and eats you like man starved for days
"Oh- Eddie-"
He carries the back your butt as his tongue digs deeper earning a squeal from you when he reaches the spot that you didn't know it existed
Your eyes are heavy-lidded, you try to watch him but you can't when your brain can't place your emotions whether is melatonin or oxytocin
you're not sure at this point but hella you feel so fucking amazing right now
He abruptly stops and when he does, you finally open your eyes
"Wha- what- don't stop!" You whine
"What about the countdown?" His lips are covered with your slick and his saliva altogether not caring a single shit that it's literally dripping down on his chin
You gasp at it as you moaned, he chuckles darkly, you know what he's doing he's teasing you
"Do you know that you're frickin' beautiful without even trying?" He goes at his usual antics as you beg for him to come back down
"Eddie, please!"
"Not until you see stars"
"What-"
Before you can utter another word, he goes back in but this time he places your legs over his shoulders another spectacular angle making you shiver from his touches yet again
He grips your legs, thighs, arms, your belly, he squeezes your boobs and it's literally fucking everywhere
One thing, you know it's for certain that you really would unashamedly come from his simple touches
He pokes his tongue down on you but when he curled it, you chant his name like a prayer, you have the ability to scream his name without being caught in action inside of the room because of the loud noises from the people and the music
Your eyes burn from the threatening tears but Eddie is not having it, he wanted you to fall apart completely for him
You moaning louder and louder when he swipes his tongue on your entrance when he puts your legs down on the bed
"You're still not seeing it, I see"
"D-Don't stop- please"
He opens your legs again as he resume to his mission, he tongue fucks you as he digs in and out, you squirm at it as he starts picking up the pace as you let out a ragged breath
Goddamn, he is killing you right now, you can already die right then and there heavenly
Your mouth falls open without noise coming out of them as you yank his hair, he growls as you couldn't believe that he could reach every spot inside of you
You arched your back as you start grinding against his face, his eyes flashes devilishly mischief as he didn't stop this time
He laps once more until you cry out his name
You jolted when the fireworks exploded booming the entire neighborhood
You come on his tongue as the same time the fireworks started
Your legs are spent, you feel boneless but a sickly smile is now sitting on your lips
He let you get back on earth for a while as he cleans you up, he dresses you up not leaving single skin left behind without his kisses
"You saw it, huh?" He grins like a devil that he is but you love him, he holds the door open for you letting you first outside
You saw all of your friends jumping on to the music and celebrated very happily
"I did" you admit ignoring the rosy tint on your cheeks "and it was much more better"
"Than?" He throws his arms around your shoulders
"The fireworks" you smile as he chuckles as he kisses the top of your head as he squeezes you to his side

Rue – Clayton Keller
Summary: Ines has a bit of a dilemma, marry her ex-boyfriend or get deported
Author’s Note: I don't even go here but an anon suggested Clayton and I ran with it and loved every moment. This is obviously a dramatized version of immigration in America, while I tried to keep aspects as authentic as possible, I also took creative liberties to fit the story.
Also his mom's name is Kelley Keller and that is just so insane to me
Word Count: 9.2k
Album Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
Don't wanna make it worse I'm gonna make it work
“What if you married Clayton?”
“You think marrying my ex-boyfriend for a green card is the answer?”
Ines doesn’t mean to raise her voice; Kat is just trying to help. But it’s been a long 24 hours and she can’t really control her emotions anymore.
“I think there should be reformed paths to citizenship. But that’s not going to happen in the immediate future, so I’m spit balling here.”
Ines flops face down on couch cushion and screams.
“I don’t hear you coming up with any better solutions,” Kat adds.
She lifts her head in shock, “You’re being serious?”
“Kat’s serious about what?” Nick comes back with drinks, his solution for comforting Ines.
“Nez should marry Kells for a green card,” Kat keeps saying it like it’s realistic.
Nick ponders the idea for a moment and shrugs, “It’s not the worst idea.”
“I’m just in a hellish nightmare, I’ll wake up and everything will be normal and everyone will be sane,” Ines rubs her temples.
Kat rubs her shoulder and nudges the drink closer to her.
Ines downs the drink and Schmaltzy passes his own drink before retreating for refills.
“I know it just happened, but have you thought at all what you’re going to do?”
“I mean, I’ve spent my whole life thinking about what I would need to do, it’s just never been so real.”
Ines feels a fresh batch of tears coming, she takes another drink to push them back. Nick comes back with a pitcher of drinks this time, clearly sensing where this night is headed.
“Didn’t one of your sisters have immigration problems?” Nick asks as he pours her a refill.
“Sort of, but it only came up because she was getting married and applying for a green card.”
Kat opens her mouth and Ines shoot hers a glare, “to the man she loves who happened to be an American citizen.”
“Yeah, well, you kind of still love Clayton,” Kat mumbles, “I mean you guys still have pretty regular sex right, Nick?”
Ines turns her boiling anger towards Schmaltzy, “Oh my god, he told you we were having sex?!”
“No, you told her,” he points towards Kat, “and she told me, Kells hasn’t said anything.”
“We don’t do it that often.”
She huffs defensively before squeezing her eyes shut, hoping to return from whatever alternative universe she stumbled into.
“I know the idea sounds insane but think about it, you have all these pictures of you two together, you never made some big breakup announcement or anything, and you still live with him.”
“I mean it would be pretty hard to prove that you aren’t together,” Nick adds.
“From what you’ve told me about this babe, marrying someone is the easiest way for you to get on the right track for citizenship without having to go back to Mexico, where you might not be allowed back.”
She knows Kat is right, that she’s making an excellent case, but that doesn’t make the idea any easier to swallow.
“There’s not enough alcohol in the world.”
Ines spends the next couple hours putting that theory to the test; she doesn’t process much, too busy preserving her brain in alcohol. She loses track of time, of what she should be feeling.
The alcohol makes her feel warm and giddy, but her brain is screaming at her to feels anxious and alert. The mix of the emotion just leaves her a sobbing mess, curled up in Kat’s arms.
Then she hears a shuffle at the door followed by Clayton’s voice.
“You told him?! Oh my god,” she buries herself further into Kat.
“We called him to take you home, we thought you’d prefer to wake up in your own bed.”
Nick is speaking to him in hushed tones and Ines is immediately suspicious.
“I don’t need you to marry me, arcilla, I’ll be fine in Mexico,” her filter is non-existent at this point but somehow, she can still talk this much through her tears and inebriation.
“What is she talking about?” Schmaltzy clearly didn’t spill the beans.
Kat sits up, cradling Ines off to the side, like she’s a child who’s not supposed to hear an adult conversation. Even one this pertinent to her.
“Someone found out she doesn’t have legal citizenship and he’s probably going to report her.”
“What the fuck,” Clayton feels every muscle in his body tense.
“And these two idiots think you should marry me so I can get a green card.”
“Oh.”
Clayton’s never been great with big emotions, and Ines’ tears mixed with her words has his brain frazzled. He came thinking he was just being the DD for Ines, not DD for Ines in distress.
“Nez, babe, why don’t we table this for tonight. Let Kells take you back to your own bed and sleep it off. We’ll start fresh tomorrow,” Kat gently moves some hair behind Ines’ hear.
Ines doesn’t respond, just stands up and follows Clayton to his car on wobbly legs.
The drive isn’t far, but Clayton still feels like he has to say something, anything. He can’t find the words; they aren’t his strong suit. So instead, he wordlessly reaches across the console and grabs Ines’ hand.
⁄⁄⁄
The sun pours through her curtains with a vengeance; telling her it’s pretty late in the morning without even needing to open her eyes. Normally, she would hate wasting most of her day away in bed, but sleeping is a nice escape; not just from reality but from the pounding headache she feels behind her eyes.
Ines flips onto her back and throws an arm over her eyes, debating whether getting up and eating something is better than sleeping more.
Clayton makes the decision for her with a knock on the door, he sheepishly pokes his head in before coming to sit at the end of the bed. Offering up a bag of food, which Ines greedily takes knowing it contains her favorite breakfast sandwich.
“You’re a lifesaver,” she moans after taking a bite, digging into the bag to grab the extra hot sauce she knows Clayton didn’t forget.
She looks up and chokes on her sandwich.
Clayton is holding open a ring box with a diamond ring.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“I talked to Schmaltzy and Kat this morning and you know, I think they’re right. Getting married to me is gonna be the easiest way for you stay in the country.”
“And ruin your life.”
“How will being married to you be that much different than it is now?”
He makes a good point. They broke up before the last off-season and he had offered to let her stay in his house since he would be traveling for a big chunk of the summer. Not worry about finding a new place while she got back on her feet. That was months ago and she’s still here, cooking him meals, cleaning up around the house, having sex with him.
The only real difference is she has her own room now.
“I don’t know, legal paperwork, maybe me being detained by ICE, you being shackled to me for god knows how long, probably two years at least. What if you meet someone?”
“I’m a professional athlete, I don’t think people would be to shocked if I cheated on you.”
Ines isn’t impressed by his attempt at a joke.
“This isn’t fair to you.”
“And it’s fair that you have to move back to a country you barely remember living in?”
He has a single-mindedness that no amount argument will sway. Especially while Ines is in this hungover state.
“Okay, Mr. Machismo, where’d you get the ring?”
“I– um– got it this morning, Kat helped pick it out. You know, need some proof this is real. And before you freak, I bought it with cash so there’s no paper trail or whatever.”
“Christ, you really thought this through?”
“You always told me it could be a possibility, so you know, I thought about what I’d do, especially when we were actually together.”
The look on his face makes her want to cry. He’s so sure; certain that she’s worth the effort, was worth having an escape plan for her.
“I know it’s crazy, but I’d hate to just sit by and watch you get torn away from your life when I could do something.”
“Okay,” Ines’ voice cracks, wet through the tears she can’t hold in anymore, “If you’re sure.”
Clayton nods, plucks the ring out of the box and holds it out on his palm for her; it seems too intimate or too sacrilegious for him to slip it on for her.
“I’ll call my immigration lawyer,” she twists the ring on her finger.
⁄⁄⁄
“Hola Ines!” Sierra, her immigration lawyer squeezes her tightly.
“And this must be the famous tonelada de arcilla,” Sierra grins at Clayton and shakes his hand.
“I can’t believe she told you that,” Ines grumbles as she takes a seat.
“Soledad couldn’t keep her big mouth shut if she tried,” Sierra moves to the other side of her desk, “besides I love your mom’s inability to understand American names, like Ashton.”
“Oh yeah, tonelada de ceniza,” Ines giggles.
“You’re saying I’m not special?” Clayton smirks.
“You’re very special mi arcilla,” she bumps his knee with her own.
“So, we’re here to talk about a marriage green card?” Sierra gets to business.
“We got engaged right before this, but now some asshole is threatening to report Nez’ status to immigration. So it sounds fishy, but we just want to start the process before anything happens.”
Ines nods with a tight smile. She was expecting Clayton to be here for moral support, not for him to take the lead.
“Okay, so we don’t know if he’s reported anything or if ICE will even investigate you. But since you work for a political organization that isn’t exactly beloved in Arizona, we’ll prepare for the worst.”
Instinctively, Clayton reaches out to hold Ines’ hand, stop her from fidgeting before she even starts.
Sierra looks at her watch, “we probably don’t have time to get you married today, but definitely can get your license today. It’s probably for the best, since this is kind of rush job you’ll probably want to dress up, have some friends as witnesses, make it clear this is above the board.”
Ines squeezes Clayton’s hand. Sierra is too busy shuffling through papers to notice any nerves, or maybe she’s just used to it.
“How’s that sound? Married by tomorrow, try to finish the paperwork in the next couple weeks?”
“Um- what about signing a pre-nup?” Clayton snaps his head towards Ines, “I mean I know it’s best if we have like joint accounts to show it’s legit or that I won’t end up on welfare immediately, but most people aren’t marrying millionaires.”
“You don’t need to sign a pre-nup,” Clayton sounds almost hurt at her suggestion.
Ines slips her hand out of his, “Don’t be stupid, we’re only moving this fast because of me, I don’t want you to be at any legal risk just because I need a green card.”
“I haven’t worked with a case quite like this, but a pre-nup might help your case that this is for the right reasons and not just for a green card.”
Ines starts chewing on her thumbnail, Clayton grabs her hand to stop her.
“I’m not your agent, but we can probably draft a quick contract of sorts that will say she will sign a post-nuptial and you can sort that out after with your people.”
Sierra then goes on a spiel about what to expect, what documents they’ll need, forms they need to fill out, the medical exam Ines will need. Clayton is trying to pay attention, but his eyes are glazing over. She hooks her foot around his ankle and tries to give him her most grateful smile, she hopes it doesn’t look too much like a grimace.
They find themselves at the courthouse the next day. Kat had insists they don’t see each other before the wedding, so they go in separate cars. It makes no sense since the foursome all knows this isn’t real, it’s all an act.
Kat stops her on the steps of the courthouse,
“You have your something old with the dress,” she gestures to the huipil her abuela had made for her mother, it was the only mostly white thing she owned, though it was mostly covered in bright colored flowers.
“And your something new with that rock on your finger, so here’s your something borrowed and blue,” she digs through her purse for a box with a pair of simple sapphire earring.
“You know it’s not–“
“This may not be your dream wedding, but let’s no fuck around with good luck.”
Kat looks like she wants to say more, but that’s not something Ines wants to dissect at the moment. She pulls her into a tight embrace instead.
Clayton and Nick are already waiting inside. Ines makes a silly scrunched up face that Clayton returns.
“Don’t be gross,” Kat nudges her, it’s when Ines realizes she’s filming.
“I honestly thought you were gonna wear a Gucci t-shirt,” Ines grins when they stop in front of the guys.
“I made him put on something with a collar,” Nick gives Clayton a playful shove.
“Aww he could have been your something blue,” Kat coos as Ines fixes the collar of Clayton’s steel blue shirt.
“But I still would have needed something borrowed,” she laughs until she remembers she’s borrowing Clayton, she drops her hands to her sides like they caught on fire.
Thankfully, the clerk calls their names, saving them from dwelling too long on that truth.
The ceremony takes all of 15 minutes. Ines all too aware of her hands sweating in Clayton’s as they hold hands in front of the judge. Picture perfect.
“By the power vested in my by the state of Arizona, I know pronounce you married!”
When neither react right away the judge speaks up again and winks, “now would be a lovely time to kiss.”
An awkward giggle bubbles out of Ines, but then Clayton is cupping her face and kissing her. She kisses back, and what should probably be a more chaste kiss gets a little heated. Ines likes kissing Clayton, sue her.
They’re broken a part by the obnoxious cheers from Kat and Schmaltzy. Both are flushed when they pull away, neither quite sure if it’s from lust or embarrassment.
“Now that’s how you start off a marriage, congratulations,” the judge smiles.

Ines is fidgeting with everything. She’s moved a vase of flower about twenty times, though it’s only moved about 1 inch away from its original place.
Clayton grabs her arms and pins them to her sides, “relax, it’s just your family.”
“Oh yeah, my totally calm, quiet, chill family. Nothing to worry about.”
“Your family loves me, we’ll be fine,” he lets her arms go and she immediately moves the vase again.
“Where’s your ring?”
She reaches into the pocket of her dress, “My mom will notice it immediately, I’ll put it on after we tell them,” she starts to turn before wheeling back around, “that we’re engaged they don’t need to know we’re actually married, I don’t want them worrying about immigration.”
Clayton nods.
“And where’s your ring?” she instinctively grabs his hand to look.
“You just said they shouldn’t know we got married,” he laughs at her pinballing thoughts.
Ines opens her mouth to say something but he cuts her off by pulling out one of his chains, the silver ring hanging off of it.
“Okay,” she lets out a sigh, “keep it in your shirt, arcilla.”
Ines moves over to straighten an already pristine tablecloth; all the deception is making her ill. She doesn’t want to tell anyone, but she knows the news will get out somehow, and her mother will never forgive her. She might not forgive her if she learned she’s already married.
“When are we gonna tell your family? We can’t just be ‘engaged’ for two years or so without them knowing.
“We can call them after probably,” he shrugs, his confidence over this decision clearly wavering a bit. Ines feels secretly happy about that, they’re on a level playing field.
The doorbell rings, the commotion of her immediate family barely muffled through the door.
“Showtime,” Ines plasters on a big smile.
The family stumbles in, a cacophony of Spanish follows as they all speak over each other to greet Ines and pass off food.
“Clayton, mi amor,” Ines’ mom cups his face and kisses him all over before pulling him into a tight embrace, “I knew you two would figure it out.”
“Yeah, I’m glad we did.”
He takes some food and follows Ines to the kitchen as she gives directions to her family in Spanish. They’ve been together long enough he recognizes some of it, but he feels bad for never trying to learn Spanish in earnest.
One of her sisters, Teresa, is pouring shots of tequila. Ines smirks at him and is about to comment when a small body rams into him.
“Clayton! Look I lost a tooth at hockey,” Ines’ niece, Marisol smiles to show off the gap.
“She didn’t lose it during a game, she lost it shooting in our driveway,” her twin brother Mateo sneers.
“You’re just mad you have all your teeth still,” she sticks her tongue out.
“You know when you get adult teeth you want to keep them all, even as a hockey player,” Ines butts in.
“Whatever tia,” the little girl rolls her eyes and gets a scoff back from her aunt.
“The new season just started, how’s the new gear?” Clayton changes the subject.
“I don’t have to wear three pairs of socks in my skates anymore, and the sticks are so nice.” Mateo’s eyes gleam with excitement.
“Maybe later we can shoot around a bit,” Clayton smiles back.
The twins cheer at the idea before running off to tell their mom.
“You bought them gear for their new season?” Ines furrows her brows.
“Yeah, I have my connections,” he tries to play it off.
“You didn’t have to do that.”
“No, but last season they had all that hand-me-down gear, it was literally the least I could do for getting them into the sport in the first place.
Ines nods.
“Lovebirds, we’re taking shots in your honor,” Teresa calls them over to the rest of the adults and hands them cups.
“¡Arriba, abajo, al centro y pa’dentro!”
The tequila goes down smooth, relaxing her enough to rip off the band aid.
“Well, we have something else for you to cheers,” Ines leans into Clayton’s side before reaching into her pocket and putting on the ring, “we’re engaged.”
There are screams, hugs, kisses, and even some tears. Ines feels the alcohol going to her head far faster than it should. Another glass being thrust into hand and another toast.
“Felicidades mija,” Ines’ dad brings her in close.
He’s a man of few words, partially because he never really learned the language of his new country. Those two simple words and the joy in his eyes makes Ines want to weep. He turns to Clayton, placing a strong hand on his shoulder and holding his other hand out.
“Bienvenido a nuestro familia.”
“Uh, gracias Hector, soy muy um–“ he leans over to Ines “how do I say I’m very excited?”
“Está muy emocionado, papi.”
“¡Más tequila!” He shouts and the family cheers.
“He’s happy for us, right? Not trying to kill me?” Clayton ribs Ines.
“I think this might be a test, if you die you wouldn’t have fit in anyway,” she smiles back.
“So, when are you going to get pregnant, mija?”
“Jesucristo mamí,” Ines furiously blushes, “couldn’t you have at least asked that in Spanish?”
“It takes both of you, I thought he should understand too.”
Her family is a little less embarrassing the rest of the party, they genuinely seem excited for Clayton to join the family. Her niece and nephew ask if Clayton is finally their real tio while she watches them pass around a ball on the sport court in the backyard.
Her heart aches with the truth.
It’s keeping her up in her bed. Usually, after that much tequila she’d be asleep within minutes, but there’s too much going on in her brain.
Her door creaks open and Clayton creeps into the room.
“How drunk are you still?” Ines tries to suppress the smile in her voice as Clayton clumsily crawls into the bed.
He merely grunts in response and moves around to get comfy.
“And you’re in here why?”
“I think the air conditioner isn’t getting into my room,” he mumbles and drapes an arm over Ines, burrowing his head into neck.
He can’t see her epic eye roll; she knows the air conditioner is probably fine and there are two other guest rooms he could use.
“You don’t have to lie, I know you like to cuddle when you’re drunk, babe.”
She winces at her casual use of a pet name, feels Clayton freeze for a second too.
She runs a hand through his hair until he relaxes again, “since my family tried to poison you, I’ll make you a hangover-approved breakfast before practice tomorrow.”
He hums in response, breath evening out until he’s asleep.
Ines is quick to follow, the weight of his arm a grounding comfort.

A month into the regular season and Ines still hasn’t been to a game. Kat warned her some of the significant others were starting to talk. Rumors of her breaking up with Clayton before the off-season had been swirling around. Sure, those rumors were true, but there was no concrete reason to believe them until her recent absence.
From what Ines heard about other teams, this group wasn’t particularly cliquey or gossipy. But sometimes that meant when there was something to talk about, they were hyper-focused. And that seems to be the situation now.
So being the girlfriend/fiancée/wife/whatever the hell she is to a member of team leadership, she invited the group over for dinner and drinks to watch an away game.
In actuality, it comes at the perfect time. Ines likes planning and organizing and it’s the perfect way to keep her mind off everything else. The most pressing being that Clayton is in St. Louis and made her promise to Facetime with him and his parents after the game. Keeping up appearances when she didn’t travel for the first game with her future in-laws.
Coming in at a close second is the fact the Blues are playing in town the day before Thanksgiving, so his mom thought it was a great time to visit for the holiday. Especially since Ines couldn’t make it out to Missouri this trip.
She’s already nauseous at the thought of moving her stuff back into the master bedroom, hiding all evidence of the truth. For now, the door is locked, so no nosy and/or drunk women pop in tonight.
“Pour yourself a drink and sit the fuck down Nez, the game is about to start,” Kat warns from her spot on the couch.
Ines stops organizing the growing pile of mail and rolls her shoulders back. She grabs a new bottle wine, knowing this group has already emptied the ones on the table before the anthem is even finished. She settles in the middle of the couch and cuddles into Kat’s side.
It’s nice to be back with a group of friends. Ines always gets lonely in the summer when most of them go back home and she’s stuck here, but this summer had been especially brutal.
“Ines, what the hell is that?” Claire shouts moments after puck drop.
Ines’ eyes dart around the room, looking for a scorpion or something that made it into the house.
“The ring on your finger!” Claire is grabbing her hand; the game is quickly forgotten in favor of this.
“Clayton proposed,” she feels her mouth attempt to smile, but it feels all wrong.
“Finally!” Someone cheers from behind her and the rest of the group seems to concur.
She didn’t mean to leave the ring on, it still feels so bulky and foreign. But she’s trying to at least wear it to work, so it doesn’t seem like some secret green card relationship. Though maybe keeping it from the WAGs makes it seem like a dirty secret.
In her mind it’s easier to cut and run from work acquaintances if this all blows up in her face. Clayton is stuck with most of these people, and Ines can’t imagine hurting him when he’s being so kind.
“Look how red she’s turning, no wonder she was staying away from us, Nez hates the spotlight,” Claire laughs.
“How did it happen?”
Ines wants to melt into the couch.
“Nothing special, he just brought me my favorite hangover breakfast and proposed while I was still in bed,” she shrugs, not wanting to lie more than necessary.
“Makes it convenient if you’re already in bed,” Kat waggles her eyebrows and Ines punches her arm.
“He knows I wouldn’t have accepted anything that wasn’t lowkey.”
“Yeah, except that gorgeous diamond, good work Kells,” Claire adds, giving the ring one last look before the action onscreen grabs back their attention.
Ines is a little wine drunk by the time the ladies clear out. Her face feels flushed and warm as she tries to clean up wine glasses and plates.
There’s one bottle with a little wine left and she pours herself another glass while she waits for Clayton to call.  She starts to go through the mail she tossed aside before the game. A reminder for a dentist appointment, a credit card statement, a letter asking to go paperless for billing.
Her phone starts to buzz against the kitchen island, she answers the Facetime wishing it were a phone call instead.
“Hi arcilla, you played well tonight,” she’s actually not positive he played well, she mostly drank and caught up with her friends.
She looks down to the mail again, an official looking envelope addressed to her stares back at her.
“You, okay?”
“Yeah, sorry I’m a little tipsy,” she holds up her glass of wine for him to see.
“You had fun then?”
His dimple is on full display when he smiles and it reminds her of when they used to do this all the time; a call before either went to bed just to say hello or see each other’s faces. Ines knows what every hotel wall and headboard looks like in the NHL.
She plays with the corners of the envelope, “This is great and all, but I thought this was so I could say hi to your parents.”
Clayton starts to move, “they wanted to give us some privacy first.”
“Did they think we were gonna have quick phone se-ehh,” Ines peters off when his parents appear on screen.
Clayton is trying to hold back a laugh while Ines feels her flush grow brighter, “Hi Kelley, hi Bryan.”
“Hi honey, when are we gonna get you out here?” His mom asks.
“Sorry ,work never seems to be in my favor.”
She lies, it’s easier than saying she hasn’t been on a plane in 20 years because she’s afraid she’ll get deported. She’s never seen Clayton’s family outside of Arizona or somewhere within driving distance. They haven’t seemed too bothered, but she’s always worried they’re just good at hiding their true thoughts.
“One day,” she smiles, “we’re excited to see you in a couple weeks, is there anything you want us to make special for Thanksgiving?”
“Shouldn’t I be asking you that? You’re coming to our house.”
“Let me be a mom and take care of it” she scoffs, “you are my first daughter.”
Ines just nods because her voice might crack if she speaks.
“We’re getting a late dinner, so we’ll let you go. But can’t wait to see you, Ines,” Bryan says and gives a wave.
“Yeah, should be fun, enjoy dinner,” she waves back.
“Bye babe, love you,” Clayton waves, his eyes go wide before the call ends.
She’d give the moment more thought if she wasn’t itching to rip open the envelope in her hands.
Notice to Appear.
December 11th.
Suddenly the walls feel like they’re closing in.
⁄⁄⁄
When Clayton gets home from the road trip Ines is in the hot tub. Her muscles having felt wound tight for the last week.
“Saw you’re all moved in,” he says as he dangles his legs into the tub.
Ines doesn’t open her eyes to look at him, just nods.
“And you have your immigration hearing in December.”
She nods again, she left the letter out by the table where they put their keys. She didn’t want to talk about it, but she had to tell him.
“I’ll be in Buffalo that day, but I–“
Ines opens her eyes, gives him an exasperated look, “You’ll play a hockey game and I’ll be fine on my own.”
“It’s not–“
She moves closer, almost to the space between his legs, “you’re doing so much for me, please don’t fight me on this. Just go play hockey.”
“Okay,” he nearly whispers.
Ines thinks about how easy it would be to give him a blow job right now, let her mind go blank for a bit. Shut up Clayton for a bit.
Before she can actually act on those thoughts, he places a hand on her cheek, running his thumb across her cheek bone.
“And you’re doing, okay?”
She honestly doesn’t know, but she does know she doesn’t want to talk about it.
So, she grabs Clayton’s wrist and pulls him in closer. She doesn’t wait for him to catch up, smashing their lips together and pushing her tongue into his mouth before he even starts kissing back.
He’s quick to catch up to her. Pulling her flush against him, filling the space between his legs. It’s the first time they’ve done this since they got married, it feels like all the building tension is finally exploding. Ines feels molten.
Clayton unties the back her bikini top and tosses it somewhere behind him with a wet splat. His hands cover her chest and she can’t help but shiver, maybe from the cold air but probably not.
She grabs his hair and pulls him away from her, “we should take this inside.”
Without second thought he pulls her out of the hot tub and towards the house, the strings of her bottoms undone and left outside as well. Ines paws at his shirt, trying to get her own fill of skin.
He pulls it over his head in one fluid motion as he maneuvers Ines towards the bedroom. Her back hits the mattress before she realizes they’re in the master bedroom.
They haven’t done this here since the break up six months ago, like it’s too intimate, too full of the past.
Clayton is hovering over her, the chain with the wedding ring dangling. The room is filled with her belongings again and she feels like she’s in some alternate universe. A world where they never broke up, where marriage was a logical step in the future.
She tries to clear her mind again, pulling Clayton down for a kiss because she wants this.
⁄⁄⁄
An alarm starts to blare and she feels the other side of the bed move.
“Sorry, that’s mine,” Ines apologizes and turns it off.
She lays back and stares at the ceiling for a bit. It feels too familiar to wake up in here, naked in the softest sheets she’s ever felt. But nothing has actually shifted, she’ll get out of bed and everything will be as it was.
She rubs the sleep from her eyes and gets out of bed to take a shower. Clayton is getting ready for practice when she gets out of the bathroom.
“I forgot how nice that shower is, you should redo the one guest bathroom, it could have better water pressure,” she jokes, though it doesn’t really land.
She wanders into the walk-in closet where she’s haphazardly put away some of her clothes, she feels Clayton follow her in, even though he’s mostly dressed.
“My parents get in today; do you want to go to the game with them tonight?” He sounds like he’s asking out a girl for the first time.
“The twins have a music recital or play or something I said I’d go to, but they can take my car to the arena so you don’t have to worry about that.”
She drops the towel on the floor and starts getting dressed for work, stopping before she zips up her dress, reading between the lines of Clayton’s question.
“But I’ll be at the game with them on Wednesday, I mean if you can get me a ticket,” she turns to flash a smile at Clayton to find that’s he’s only a step away.
“I think I can manage that,” he turns Ines around, moving her hair out of the way and zipping up the dress for her, fingers lingering at her neck for a second too long.
Ines stops herself from shivering and turns around, “I have to leave, but see you after the game.”
She gives him a quick peck against her better judgement, “good luck.”
The casual touches don’t disappear in the following days. Ines can’t tell if they’re putting a show on for his parents or not. The touches seem too instinctive to just be a spectacle, but maybe that’s because they’re sharing a bed again and can’t seem to keep their hands off each other behind closed doors.
Though that seems to be seeping outside of the bedroom, too.
The morning after his parents arrive, Kelley is in the kitchen making coffee and gives them a knowing look when they come out of the bedroom, as if to tell them they were too loud even from the other side of the house. Ines decides to pick up breakfast on her way to work rather than sit through breakfast at home.
That night Ines is laid out on the couch not paying attention to the football game playing on TV. Clayton lifts her head up and then places her back down on his lap when he sits.
She groans as she tries to get more comfortable, “You make a terrible pillow, you’re too bony.”
“I think it’s the titanium rod in my leg,” he says back, squirming underneath her to make her more frustrated.
“You were bony before then too,” she rolls her eyes and pretends to focus on the game and ignore Clayton’s fingers brushing under her shirt.
Wednesday is a half day for Ines, she gets home to a surprisingly empty house and enjoys drinking a beer and mindlessly watching Tiktoks in peace.
“Hey, wasn’t expecting you home,” Ines jumps when Clayton comes up behind her.
“Wasn’t expecting to find an empty house,” she shrugs.
“My parents are picking up Jake from the airport,” he wraps his arms around Ines’ waist, “I was about to take my pre-game nap, but I wouldn’t say no to some company.”
He presses a couple kisses into her neck, “an afternoon nap sounds nice.”
She barely finishes the sentence before he’s walking her to the bedroom. Clayton is a little handsy as Ines crawls into the bed.
“I’m serious about an actual nap, I won’t be held responsible if you have a bad game.”
Clayton rolls away, hands up in surrender.
Ines rolls towards him wrapping an arm around his middle, “For all your suffering, I’ll give you a blow job if you win tonight.”
“A victory blow job? You didn’t even do that when we were dating,” he chuckles, the sound amplified with her ear on his chest.
“What can I say, I’m in a giving mood,” she kisses his pec and closes her eyes.
Clayton’s alarm goes off and Ines groans.
“You can sleep longer,” he runs a hand through her hair before slipping out from under her.
“Nah, I’ll just be more tired later,” she rolls over but doesn’t get out of the bed, watches Clayton go into the closet.
“You should wear the green suit from the awards, it’s a special request from Marisol.”
“Oh yeah?”
“She thinks I have a say over what you wear and she told me it’s her favorite,” she watches Clayton start to get undressed, “you did look hot in it,” she smirks when he fumbles with a hanger in response.
When he comes out dressed, he still has bedhead. Ines gets up to fix it, he jokingly bats her hands away as they leave the room.
“Just let me fix this one piece arcilla, you look like we just fucked,” she stops in her tracks at the sight of Clayton’s family, “Hi Jake, good to see you.”
Jake nods in her direction, not particularly friendly, but she can pretend it’s because of the awkward conversation they just heard.
Ines knows Clayton told his brother everything, or more than Ines would like. She’s not sure exactly what he told his parents about the break up, but they seem to have forgiven anything pretty quickly. She knows Jake is a little weary of her now, and maybe her motives.
Clayton is either oblivious or just trying to play it off and gives him a bro-hug before he heads off to the game
The awkward air between Jake and Ines remains, not that they were ever specifically close, but this feels extra icy. She tries to avoid sitting next to him, but the two get caught between the parents. And she’s not even in her usual seats near Kat to have a buffer.
The game is a bit messy, passes aren’t connecting, the power play might as well be missing, but the crowd is into it. Mullett is small enough to feel like you’re always in the game, which helps Ines because before Clayton she knew next to nothing about hockey. Being this up close means she’s 99% sure she understands the rules, except goalie interference.
The second period ends with the Blues up by one, which isn’t too bad considering how the game is looking.
“Have you two talked about any wedding plans?” Kelley turns to Ines,
On her other side she hears Jake snort on his drink, she makes a mental note to double check how much Clayton has told his brother.
“Not really, I had a quinceañera so I already had my big party and fancy-dress moment,” it’s the truth, her 15th birthday fulfilled a lot of princess dreams she may have had.
“You’re both still young, you can have long engagement to figure it out if you want.”
Ines feels the anxiety seep out of her bones.
“You two could even get married at a courthouse if that’s that you wanted.”
The tension comes back so quickly it almost gives her whiplash.
Jake shoots up and mumbles something about food. Ines would follow him, but she’s not sure a public confrontation is the best idea.
Thankfully there’s some more hockey to distract her, the Coyotes end up clawing back but lose in OT on a poorly timed line change.
There’s not a great place to wait for the boys at Mullett, so they sit in their seats for a while before meandering down.
Kat jumps on Ines the moment she sees her.
“Look who’s gracing us with her presence,” Kat kisses her cheek and slides off her back before she can accidentally knock them to the ground.
“Yeah, yeah, I get it, bad WAG alert,” Ines swats her away.
She hears Jake mumble something, but can’t quite make it out. That’s when Kat actually seems to comprehend that Clayton’s family is here.
“The two lovebirds have been busy being cooped up, we haven’t seen them both in the flesh for a while,” she gives a cheeky smile and winks at the Kellers.
“We’re in the same house and they’re having a hard time keeping it in the bedroom, so consider yourself lucky,” Bryan laughs with Kat while Ines cheeks burn.
“Oooh la la Nez, loving this pre-honeymoon phase for you,” she gives Ines a meaningful pinch on the side, a warning they will be talking about this later.
“Speak of the devil,” Kelley laughs and pulls her son into hug.
“Kells show me some of this PDA everyone is talking about,” Kat is clearly not above egging this on despite the sharp look Ines gives.
Clayton pulls her in tight, ducking his head so he can whisper to her.
“Sorry, I didn’t live up to our end of the bargain. No prize for me,” he fake pouts.
“Cause I’m still in a giving mood, here’s a consolation prize for a one-point night,” Ines pulls Clayton in for a kiss, ignoring the catcall from Kat.
“That’s it?” Clayton her pulls her in tightly to his side.
“Don’t push it,” she elbows him in the side, ignores the knowing look Kat is directing her way.
Ines manages to convince everyone the brothers should ride home together, since they don’t see each other enough. Partially, to prove to Kat that there’s nothing going on; partially hoping that Clayton and Jake will talk through whatever weirdness is going on.
⁄⁄⁄
“Do you have to go golfing and leave me alone with your mom?” Ines complains before stuffing her face in the pillow
“You like my mom,” Clayton rolls back onto the bed and rubs her back.
“Yeah, but preparing Thanksgiving is like serious mother-daughter shit, I’d love some backup.”
“You could come golfing.”
“Cause I’d love to get made fun of instead.”
“Those are kind of your two options,” he kisses her shoulder.
“Fine, staying home it is,” she flips over onto her back, “can you at least make sure Jake won’t be weird when you guys come back.”
“He’s just looking out for me, doesn’t want you taking advantage of me,” Clayton absentmindedly traces up and down her arm.
“Did you tell him this was your suggestion? And that I signed a pre-nup? I won’t take advantage and steal your money if that’s what he’s worried about.”
His hand stills for a moment, “I’ll talk to him again, don’t worry about it.”
He stands up again, “have fun cooking.”
“I hope you lose!” Ines calls back.
Ines wanders into the kitchen an hour later, Kelley already deep in prep.
“Sorry, I went back to sleep. Though I’ve never cooked Thanksgiving so I don’t know how much help I’ll be.”
“You’re a great cook, I think you’ll be fine,” Kelley laughs before instructing her on how to finish prepping the stuffing.
Ines takes off the engagement ring and places it in the middle of the island, out of reach. She rubs the naked finger and notices there’s already a faint tan line. She flexes the fingers, like that will give her some answers. Like why taking it off doesn’t feel like unhooking an anchor that’s pulling her under anymore.
She looks up to see she’s been caught by Kelley. If she has some thoughts, she doesn’t share them with Ines.
They work mostly in quiet, the Thanksgiving Parade playing on the TV in the other room. Kelley stopping every once in a while, to watch or tell Ines about watching the parade growing up. How Clayton used to worry the balloons were going to eat the people holding them when he was a toddler.
“This is your first turkey?” Kelley says as Ines puts the bird in the oven
“Yeah, I spent most of my Thanksgivings helping my mom with housekeeping, so can’t do this but ask me to make a bed, I got you,” Ines laughs.
“This calls for a toast then,” Kelley finds some Bailey’s and pours it into their coffees, “To sharing my secrets with my new daughter.”
She clinks her mug against Ines, the sound scrambles something in Ines’ heart, “You know Clay and I broke up right?”
Kelley takes a long sip of her coffee and hums.
“He told us you needed some time apart. Because of all the uncertainty around the team and some things he didn’t really get into,” Kelley trails off.
“It’s understandable you’re both so young and had to go through some really intense things together. I think it was really mature what you two decided, but I’m really glad you worked it out, you make Clayton so happy. I think happier than hockey, if that’s possible.”
Ines lip starts to wobble, she tries to stop the tears. But how can she when even Clayton’s mom believes their lie? How can she break her heart down the line?
“Oh darling,” Kelley pulls her into a tight embrace that only a mom can give, “love is never easy, and if down the road it’s not right anymore, that will be okay too. It’s privilege to find love at all.”
That sends Ines into another wave of sobs. She buries her face into Kelley’s shoulder as she gently rubs Ines’ back and sways them side to side.
Once her cries seem to calmed down to sniffles, Kelley moves away enough to see Ines’ face. She wipes away the few stray tears, “I see the way you two look at each other when you think no one’s watching, I think you’ll happy together for a very long time.”
Kelley smiles, her eyes a little glossy like she might cry too. And with a shaky breath Ines tries to give her a smile back.
They hear the door open and the boys start to come into the house.
“Who won?” Kelley calls out as they come around the corner.
Ines tries to busy herself by rolling out the pie crust they had forgotten.
“Jake squeaked one out,” Bryan comes around the island and kisses Kelley, “smells great ladies, you need any help?”
“Not right now, we were gonna take a break soon,” Kelley winks at Ines.
Clayton comes and leans into Ines from behind, his hands boxing Ines in. He kisses her cheek before he notices her eyes rimmed red.
“You, okay?” He whispers, kissing below her ear.
“Yeah, whatever onions we bought were like tear gas,” she cracks a smile and leans back into him.
“We had to evacuate for a while, I think we just got it under control before you guys came home,” Kelley smiles and pulls Bryan out of the kitchen, following the sounds of a football game Jake put on.
Ines turns around, still boxed in by Clayton. She wraps her arms around his shoulders and hangs her weight on him, feeling a bit tired. He moves his hands to her hips, giving them a gentle squeeze.
“Was it rough morning alone with my mom?”
“No, it was really nice, actually.”
She pulls back to give him a genuine smile, plays with the ends of his hair, “And did you talk to Jake?”
“Yeah, and I let him win so I think he’ll be in a good mood.”
“Wow, you did that for me?”
“Yeah, of course,” he smirks before dipping down to kiss her.
“Why can’t you let me win?” Ines pouts when the pull a part.
“I can’t act that well,” he’s biting back a mischievous grin, “but if you ask nicely, I can help you improve your back swing.”
He’s gently moving her hips side to side when Ines gives him a playful shove, “Keep it in your pants Keller, your family is in the other room.”
“Hasn’t stopped you much this week,” he pulls her flush against his chest, his hands wandering to her ass.
“Oh my god, there’s not gonna be that kind of giving today.”
Clayton’s about to respond, “Is it safe to come into the kitchen or are you two fondling each other?”
Ines moves Clayton’s hands off her butt and to his sides, “All clear Jake, your brother was just leaving to take a shower, a cold one,” she whispers the last part.
Jake makes a gagging sound, “you two are gross.”
“One day you’ll have someone to fondle other than yourself,” Clayton punches his brother in the arm on the way out of the kitchen.
⁄⁄⁄
Ines and Kat are sitting on the steps of the courthouse, finishing their coffees. The coffee was probably a mistake, it’s sitting acidic and heavy in her stomach.
At least the universe wasn’t cruel enough to have her hearing at the same courthouse as she got married. She doesn’t think her heart could take the irony.
Kat is jittery, her knee bouncing erratically. Caffeine doesn’t have that kind of effect on her, so Ines knows it must be something else.
“I think I’m supposed to be the nervous one.”
“I still don’t understand why you broke up with Clayton in the first place.”
Ines whips her head around like there’s someone waiting around the corner to record this kind of damning evidence.
“You said you’d explain, but you never did. And it’s clear you still have feelings for him.”
Ines scoffs.
“Fine, you don’t love him, then tell me why you broke up and why you never moved out? You had plenty of time to find a new place, Nick and I would have let you move in.”
“I was tired of holding him back.”
Ines gulps down the cold remnants of her drink.
“It was so exhausting telling him no. No, I can’t go home with you to meet your parents. No, I can’t go to the All-Star Game in Florida cause it’s not in driving distance. I can’t be your date to a wedding because I can’t get on a plane. I can’t have bye week with all our friends in the fucking country I was born in because I may not get to come home!”
She tries to take even-keeled breaths; she doesn’t want to start crying before her hearing even starts.
“And he couldn’t tell people because what if someone slipped up and I got deported, or worse they found my parents or Soledad. She has kids!”
Kat puts a gentle hand on her knee.
“And he shouldn’t have to deal with that, he could find someone less complicated and someone who could actually be there for him.”
“Did he ever tell you those things were a problem?”
“No, but I could see how frustrating all those little things were becoming; how upset he’d get with every new thing I couldn’t do.”
“Yeah, he’s upset because you couldn’t live a full life without worry. Because he loves you, Ines! He’s still in love with you.”
“No, he isn’t. He’s just nice. He would have said something by now, not just married me and suffered in silence.”
“Oh, he should have said something? Like you’re saying something because you clearly still love him, too?”
Ines just blinks at Kat, like her brain can’t possibly comprehend what her friend is saying. She doesn’t even get the chance to argue because her alarm goes off.
“You have a court hearing, but don’t think justice will stop us from talking about this later,” Kat says sternly.
In the court room, Ines sits between her lawyer and Kat. Her brain feels too fried to keep up with the basics the judge opens up with.
“Now it says the couple was wed on September 14th of this year. Just a few days before the official report was filed about Ms. Ruiz’ status. You’ll understand why this seems a little convenient.”
“Yes, your honor,” Sierra stands up holding a file, “but the couple was engaged before any officially filings were made. And you can see in the documents we have a receipt from when Mr. Keller bought the engagement ring back in March of this year. If you need to see Ms. Ruiz’ ring for confirmation she can approach the bench.”
“That won’t be necessary. Seeing as all the applications are going through the appropriate channels, I see no reason to hold Ms. Ruiz in custody while she waits for her green card interview.”
The gavel bang echoes in Ines’ head, but the judge is already moving on to the next case. Sierra and Kat help lead her out of the courtroom. They’re excitedly chattering, and Ines knows she should join in, knows this is good news, but she hasn’t quite caught up.
She sends Clayton a text: Hearing went well, won’t be going to prison, then promptly turns off her phone.
⁄⁄⁄
Ines gets two days to stew before Clayton comes home.
He picks her up and spins her around in excitement the instant he sees her. His smile falters when he sets her down and sees the borderline grim look on Ines’ face.
“You bought the ring in March?”
Clayton doesn’t know what to say, shocked by the realization.
“They brought up the receipt during the hearing, to help prove that it wasn’t just a last-minute wedding.”
Ines bites at her thumb nail, the ring catching the light. Clayton feels some relief that she hasn’t taken it off.
“You wanted to marry me before we broke up?”
“You breaking up with me kind of ruined my plans,” Clayton shrugs, not sure the direction this conversation is taking.
Ines laughs in spite herself.
“There were all those weddings you couldn’t come to and I thought you needed a chance to think without any pressure from my life, I didn’t expect it to be permanent.”
Ines audibly swallows, they’re walking around the heart of the issue, both too scared to be the first to show all their cards.
“I still got to marry you, not in the way I wanted. But I don’t regret that, no matter what you think.”
Ines moves to take off the ring, Clayton holds his breath while his heart clenches painfully.
“Ask me again.”
“What?”
Ines hands him the ring, her voice wavers a bit, “ask me again.”
He fumbles with the ring for a second before dropping down to one knee.
“I- uh don’t have anything romantic to say. But I love you Ines and I want to be with you as long as you’ll have me. So will you marry me?”
Ines lets out a small sob before covering her face, “Oh my god I can’t believe I’m a girl who cries when she gets proposed to.”
“Is that a yes? Cause otherwise this is really fucking mean.”
“Shit, sorry, yes. That’s a yes,“ she clambers to get Clayton standing again and kisses him desperately.
“I love you arcilla, I’m sorry it took me a while to realize I never stopped,” she says between kisses, not wanting to stop now.
Clayton laughs and pulls away enough to put the ring back on, “it was worth the wait.”
This time Clayton pulls her into a kiss, savoring the moment he imagined for months and months.

I rlly like the idea of it being blurted out during a fight, or one of the boys accidentally telling her/her hearing it from them!!
idk which of these scenarios I'm writing actually happened, but it's so fun to think of different options that I'm just gonna keep doing different ones lol
im already working on an ask about the fighting one so, I'm gonna talk ab one of the boys accidentally telling you bc I think that's so funny (and on brand)
so I think you're coming to the studio with cookies that you baked the boys, you know they've been working so hard on the album and you wanted to get them a little pick me up.
security at dirty hit know you now, you've been there loads visiting matty and picking him up so they all just say, "hi miss y/n, visiting our boys?" And you're like "ah you all know me too well, but don't worry, I brought something for you too!" and I think you whip out some banana bread, and they are all over the moon. one of them let's you up, and then runs off to make a cup of tea to enjoy with his banana bread lol
you knock tentatively on the door and hear a booming voice say, "Come in," so you stroll in to see George and Adam sitting on the sofa on their phones.
"Hi sweetheart!" comes from George, and soon enough, both of them are up giving you a hug, "what are you doing here? matty didn't mention you were coming today?"
"Oh, I didn't tell him, I baked you all some cookies and decided to surprise him!" You smile and pull the cookies out of your bag and are immediately tackled into another hug by George.
"mattys out getting lunch right now, but you are more than welcome to stay and have a cup of tea," Adam says, smiling gratefully at you before tucking into a cookie.
it's at this point when Ross walks I'm, "y/n! Nice to see you, love!" he walks around to you and pulls you in for a hug, and you smile at all of their kindness. Being accepted so quickly by all of them was amazing.
"Hi!! just here to bring cookies and see matty whenever he gets back. " Before you can finish, Ross has pulled away with an excited gasp and is looking around for the cookies.
adam laughs and passes him the box. He immediately grabs one and bites in, moaning dramatically at how good the cookie is and passing the box back to you.
"Oh no wonder, matty is in love with you. with these cookies, how could he not be?" he says with his mouth full, blissfully unaware of the bomb he dropped.
the room is silent aside from Ross' happy crunching and before long that stops too, after George thumps him on the arm.
"Dude! ow! why would you do that? " Ross whines, and both Adam and George stare at him like he's grown 3 heads. meanwhile, you're standing there holding the box of cookies like 👁👄👁
ross, George and Adam share looks for a good 10 seconds before Ross drops the remainder of his cookie dramatically and simply says, "Oh shit."
another few seconds of silence come before a jumbled mess of apologies from all 3 men, "y/n just ignore him. you know how much he loves baked things and -" "Yeah, just don't tell matty -" "IM SO SORRY. SO SO SORRY. OHMYGOD DONT TELL MATTY"
and of course, what better time for matty to walk in with 3 bags of Chinese food like, "Don't tell matty what?"
you all spin around like you've been caught in a crime, Ross even shoots his hands up instinctively. and matty shifts his eyes between the 4 of you before snapping back to you, seemingly only just realising who the 4th body in the room is.
"darling! what are you doing here, hi!" matty says, placing down the food and wrapping you up in a hug. you say frozen with the box of cookies in your hands, and matty awkwardly hugs you around it and pulls back questioningly.
"Baby, are you okay?" But before he really checks in, his eyes shift down, and he says,"Oh cookies! thank you!!"
Whilst he was quickly distracted by the cookies, he was also quickly brought back at your wide-eyed expression.
"y/n..." he says before turning around to see all 3 of his friends avoiding eye contact and "acting casual" (acting extremely suspicious)
"Why are you all acting like you've killed someone? what happened?" he asks, and before Ross can stutter out an explanation, George and Adam so helpfully butt their way in.
"ROSS TOLD Y/N YOU LOVE HER," the pair says in unison, matty makes an audible choking noise before very slowly turning to meet Ross' eyes. which were currently scanning the room for an escape route.
you place your hand on mattys shoulder, pulling him out of his shock and bringing him back to whatever the fuck was happening.
you don't say a word. Simply grab his hand and drag him to the kitchen. as he leaves, he sends the boys a scathing look, and they all have the good grace to look sheepish, especially Ross.
you lean on the counter, and matty takes a seat at the small chair in the kitchen. Silence resumes until matty tentatively says "soooo, how's work?"
you give him an incredulous look and he promptly shuts the fuck up. you move slowly and sit in the chair across from matty, he reaches over the table and grabs your hands. rubbing his thumb along the back of them soothingly.
you finally muster up the strength to talk-
"you love me"
"yes"
"...are you sure??"
matty has to stifle a small laugh before responding, "I am 100% sure my love"
"...oh" you knew, because of course you knew. but knowing it and hearing it? 2 very different things.
matty is so fucking nervous at your response and just asks, "and how do you feel about that?" because he wants to be patient and kind but he can also feel his heart in his throat right now.
"obviously I love you too, but I just wasn't expecting to hear it from Ross. and I had like a plan of when I was gonna tell you because I didn't wanna scare you off. and I know you have to think about Annie, and it's so complicated being her teacher and-"
matty stands up, pulls you up too, and calms you as he pulls you into a hug, "shh sweetheart, it's okay. You don't need to freak out." he says as his hand rubs up and down you back, trying to regulate your breathing.
"But you love me?????" You pull back and look at him like he's just said the stupidest thing ever.
"yes I love you, but you've just said you love me too so I'm really not too worried" he laughs lightly at your reaction, you had clearly not realised what you had said in your anxious ramble.
"Oh... well, of course I love you... how could I not? you're the love of my life, " you say softly, and matty feels his heart move from his throat back into his chest, and soon it starts to beat again .
"So it's easy then, right? nothing is complicated. You are the love of my life, and I'm the love of yours. See? simple."
you smile still wrapped up in his arms and respond by saying, "simple"
more blurbs for this au here!!

Event | 5th Anniversary: The Way Back Home | Chapter 4 - Autumn Planet Story
Tumblr media
*Contains spoilers for Act 12 - eternal moment*
Azami: Took longer than expected, but we finally managed to get the tent set up.
Omi: The sun is setting, so we should probably start preparing dinner soon.
Sakyo: The ingredients we prepared in advance are in the luggage. Let’s divide up the work and get everything ready.
Banri: …Oi, give me that firewood.
Juza: …Yeah, yeah.
Azami: Kinda surprising to see you two working together to tend to the fire like actual adults.
Tumblr media
Banri: Not like I wanna do it or anythin’.
Juza: Like hell I’m lettin’ myself be handcuffed to that guy again.
Sakyo: Hmph, that’s pretty different from back then. You really have grown up.
Taichi: Yeah, yeah! Omi-kun, I’m gonna take a pic! Ah, Sakyo-nii, you join us too!
Juza: Why are ya takin’ pictures, Taichi?
Banri: He must be takin’ Omi’s place since he’s busy cookin’.
Taichi: Hehe, I’m getting lotsa good shots. We could make like a behind the scenes album with these are something!
Sakyo: An album, huh…? It it’s profitable, we should do it.
Banri: ‘Course you’d say that, money-grubber.
Taichi: While I’m at it, I’m gonna send the pics to Director-sensei on LIME! And I’ve gotta take a good pic of the curry too, and…
Taichi: Here, here, Ban-chan and Juza-san, look over here~. ‘Kay, say cheese!
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Omi: Okay, it’s done.
Juza: Looks good.
Azami: With Omi-san here, even camp food can be good.
Banri: Aight, time to dig in.
Sakyo: Let’s eat.
Tumblr media
Taichi: It’s soooo good~! Camp food cooked together and eaten around the campfire is the best!
Omi: That’s one of the real charms of camping.
Juza: We’re gonna be on the pirate ship around noon tomorrow, right?
Taichi: I’m so hyped to be on the pirate ship!
Sakyo: However, to make up for that, we’re going to have to fit in a good amount of practice before we go. We’ll all be getting up at 5 a.m. tomorrow.
Banri: Are you being for real?
Azami: The sun ain’t even gonna be up then!
Omi: Haha, relentless as always.
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Omi: Zzz… Zzz…
Juza: Zzz…
*Clanging*
Taichi: Uwah!?
Tumblr media
Juza: The hell…?
Sakyo: All of you, get up quickly. We’re starting practice.
Omi: That sound of you banging on a frying pan with a ladle… that startled me.
Azami: Damn, it really is 5 a.m..
Taichi: I thought there was something wrong.
Banri: Couldn’t think of a more dramatic way to wake us up?
Azami: Typical way to wake someone up for an old man.
Sakyo: Shut your mouth. Stop wastin’ time and just get on with it already!
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Azami: So this is the pirate ship, huh?
Taichi: It’s so big~...
Banri: You’re like half asleep.
Omi: Well, we did get up early and have an early morning rehearsal.
Omi: Here, Taichi, look at the great view.
Tumblr media
Taichi: …Whoa!
Taichi: It really is a great view! They sky and the sea are so pretty!
Sakyo: It is a beautiful view.
Juza: ‘M glad it’s sunny out.
Banri: How about we look around the ship for a bit since we’re here.
Taichi: Ah, I’m gonna go to the bathroom first!
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Taichi: Hmm, bathroom, bathroom…
???: Onii-chan!
Taichi: Waah!?
Taichi: Wait, huh!? Mi-chan!? What are you doing here…!?
Masato: What are YOU doing here, Nii-chan…?
Taichi: Ma-kun, too!? What’s going on!? Where are Dad and Mom!?
Mirai: Mom’s at home! And Dad’s over there.
Taichi: Huh…
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Taichi: So it turns out, my lil’ sis, Mi-chan, and my lil’ bro, Ma-kun, happened to be on the same ship as us!
Juza: That’s an incredible coincidence.
Azami: What’re the odds?
Taichi: Dad’s here too, but he got seasick, so he’s resting now…
Taichi: So I’m gonna stay with Mi-chan and Ma-kun until he’s feeling better.
Banri: Then how about they come around with us?
Taichi: Eh, are you sure?
Omi: Of course. The more the merrier. Right, Sakyo-san?
Sakyo: Do you really think I’m so heartless as to leave Nanao and those two behind?
Banri: You might be.
Tumblr media
Sakyo: …Oi.
Juza: I got no problem with it either.
Masato: Thank you…!
Mirai: That’s great, isn’t it, Ma-kun!?
Mirai: Ma-kun said he started to love space pirates and regular pirates after seeing Onii-chan and everyone in the MANKAI performance~.
Mirai: That’s what he asked Dad to bring us here today.
Masato: M-Mi-chan, don’t say that now…!
Juza: Is that so?
Taichi: Eh~, you never told me that! You should’ve told your big bro.
Banri: What’d ya think of our play? Was it good?
Masato: Yeah… everyone was so cool. Nii-chan too.
Taichi: Ma-kun…!
Omi: I’m glad to hear you say that.
Banri: Come see us again in the future, yeah?
Masato: Yeah!
Juza: Well, this pirate ship’s got a top deck, right? Let’s head up there while we’re at it.
Masato: I wanna do that!
Taichi: Alright, let’s go!
Mirai: A-chan, let’s hold hands!
Azami: Huh? Sure, I don’t mind, I guess…
Sakyo: Never thought I’d see you walking hand in hand with a little kid like this.
Omi: It’s like you’re a big brother.
Tumblr media
Azami: Hmph.
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Masato: Waah…!
Omi: This is a great view.
Masato: Okay… Umm, so that direction is north, and this way is south…
Juza: You’ve even got a compass, huh?
Sakyo: Just like the captain or navigator of a pirate ship.
Masato: No, I’m just an apprentice.
Sakyo: An apprentice?
Masato: I read a book about an apprentice pirate the other day.
Masato: I’m sure it take a lotta skill to become a captain or a navigator, so I thought maybe I could just become an apprentice or something.
Azami: That’s oddly realistic of you.
Juza: Y’know, an apprentice could one day become a captain or a navigator.
Banri: …Yeah.
Banri: “Even if you’re an apprentice… if you’re willin’ to put in the work, ANIMS will gladly welcome you on board.”
Masato: …!
Mirai: Yeah~! Then I wanna be Bat’s wife!
Azami: Wife…
Sakyo: Hm.
Banri: Look at you, you’re quite the ladies’ man.
Azami: S-Shut up.
Taichi: I’m not just handing Mi-chan over to you that easily, A-chan!
Tumblr media
Azami: It ain’t serious!
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Banri: This cruise was pretty interestin’.
Sakyo: Glad to hear that Nanao’s father is feeling better.
Taichi: Thanks for letting Mi-chan and Ma-kun tag along, guys!
Taichi: They both had a blast and Dad was really thankful too.
Omi: We all had fun too.
Taichi: But in the end, we still couldn’t find any hints for what our spinoff should be about.
Banri: That ain’t true.
Taichi: Huh?
Tumblr media
Banri: What about what Masato said? Y’know, “apprentice”?
Sakyo: I see. Something like the apprenticeship period of the ANIMS crew could work…
Sakyo: No, it’d be interesting to see a spinoff showing their past stories, not just their apprenticeship.
Juza: There ain’t a whole lot about it, but… some of Tig and Doug’s lines do mention their childhoods a bit.
Azami: It’d be nice to see a different side of the crew and see how they grow.
Omi: Yeah, plus that goes along with what Banri said about going back to the basics.
Juza: That’s true.
Banri: Aight, then that’s what we’ll choose for our request.
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Azami: That was good.
Juza: Today’s camp food was delicious.
Omi: I’m glad you liked it.
Taichi: Hahh, I’m stuffed! I can’t possibly eat more…
Sakyo: Oi, don’t just lay down so suddenly.
Taichi: Can’t you just overlook it for today~?
Taichi: …!
Taichi: Hey! The starry sky is super pretty!
Banri: Hm?
Omi: Ooh… it’s like a natural planetarium.
Sakyo: Well, I suppose there’s some time to look at the sky for a bit.
Juza: …You can’t see this kinda thing in the city.
Azami: It’s kinda… magical.
Banri: The starry sky’s so clear, I wonder if that makes it ever prettier.
Taichi: Since we’re here, how about we all lay down and stargaze.
Banri: Ain’t six grown-ass men laying down together and stargazin’ kinda cringe?
Sakyo: Don’t be too harsh and just help tidy up.
Taichi: But this is one of the best parts of camping…!
Taichi: At least lemme take a pic of this view so I can remember it!
Taichi: …Yeah, that’s a good one!
Taichi: I can’t believe I got such a nice pic with my phone~! Maybe I’m just getting that good at using a camera!
Banri: Taichi, gimme a hand with washing this.
Taichi: ‘Kay, kaaay! I’m coming now!
Taichi: Hey, hey, since we all went and did our own separate things yesterday, let’s all take a bath together after cleaning up today!
Tumblr media
Banri: You’re never lettin’ that one go, are you?
Juza: I don’t mind…
Sakyo: Tch, no point in fighting it. Let’s hurry up and finish tidying up then.
Taichi: Yeah!

Going ahead doesn't mean you're going to get there first
A/N: I’m trying so hard to write just for fun. Which means don’t stress about it and writing at my own pace. BUT IT IS SO HARD! I feel so bad that people are waiting. Then I give myself the reality check that no ones on the edge of their seat waiting. Then it’s depressing. Then I forget and repeat that cycle. Short term memory loss coming in clutch. I like how these are usually just bits of my life story lmao. ||| I’m away from my ipad atm so I’m gonna give an honorary mention to the 5 star album instead of shuffling a song today. STREAM!!!!
You have been away on a business trip and miss jisung so much. (No, it’s not smut)
Tumblr media
(Ok but could he be any cuter?!)
You had a business trip. A freaking 2 month business trip. Your life had been a nightmare. Especially being away from your beloved, Hanji. You were in constant meetings and it was absolutely exhausting. It was the worst timing too because han had just got time off.
You hadn’t told him but you planned to surprise him. He had a week left of being free and you planned to spend the whole time with him. It would be so nice to finally relax and spend the whole time wrapped in blankets and the arms of your favourite human. Comfort personified.
He had this unique ability to make you feel stress free. Which was hard for you because you were always thinking about work or tasks you had. Not with him though, he was smart and it was impossible not to get lost in his eyes.
Oh, and don’t even start with his cheeks. You poked his face once for fun and next thing you knew, you had been there for half an hour, pinching his cheeks.
These thoughts weren’t helping you with the feelings of homesickness but that would all go away soon.
Your jet lag was kicking your ass as you made your way into your apartment complex. You were still so excited to see him though. The excitement gave you the capability to ignore the fact that your nose was blocked but could still smell airplane food the whole time.
You opened your door and looked around to see if he was there. After putting your bags in your room, you looked around to find that he was in fact, not home. You set up everything for a nice surprise but got surprised when he called you.
‘Hey sweet cheeks,’ you said enthusiastically.
‘I feel like my final words might just be me telling you not to call me that,’ he sighed.
‘I can never let go. You know this. It’s too cute a name,’ you said defiantly.
‘We can argue about this when you get back to your apartment and open the door to let me in. I’m tired and I’m cold.’
Your heart stopped, ‘my what who?!’
‘Your apartment? I got the address from your work buddies. I wanted to surprise you but you aren’t home and I waited like half an hour. Now I’m getting stares from people. Some guy gave me money thinking I’m a hobo. I’m never wearing these jeans again.’
You were frozen for so long he started to question if you were still there. You broke out of your semi conscious state and said, ‘ji… I’m not there… I came home to surprise you for the week…’
He froze then laughed, ‘good one! Now come open your door.’
You turned the call to a video call and he could see you in the apartment.
He scowled, ‘I’m exhausted and sleep deprived for no reason?!’
‘I love that we both had the exact same idea…’
‘Yeah, great, we’re both stupid,’ he laughed.
‘Well, a couple that does… stupid crap together, stays together,’ you chuckled.
‘You stay there, I’ll get a flight back. This will take a while so don’t move,’ he winked.
‘I’m not staying in this one spot for the next 5 hours ji,’ you said while squinting.
‘Get yourself a partner who will stay fully still for you for 5 hours cus you said so…’ he dramatically clutched his heart.
‘Do you wanna be single in the next five minutes? Because I can make that happen,’ you deadpanned.
His eyes widened, ‘I love you the most in the world! You are not allowed to leave me! You could never subject me to dying alone!’
‘And you call me dramatic,’ you laughed.
It took him an extra day to come home because flights had been delayed. When he finally got home, he was exhausted. It was good he had experience in flying a lot since he had to as an idol.
You hid when he finally got home because… why not torture someone who is so clearly exhausted and near the point of death.
He came in with the last bit of his energy coming from his excitement to see you. He yelled your name as he looked around and couldn’t find you. He stood still and you were so confused.
Then he sat on the sofa and broke down… he was crying… he sniffled as he got his phone and called you. Your phone rang in the apartment and he jumped.
You then popped out of your hiding spot and scared him a second time.
He jumped again then looked stunned to see you. He stared through teary eyes, ‘if you don’t hug me now for atleast 5 days, I will die.’
You felt so bad and ran over to give him a hug. He fell back onto the sofa and you guys cuddled for the rest of your time home. Just as you wanted. You made it up to him with all the different kinds of chocolates and sweets you brought back.
‘Y/N, you’re pure evil. You and minho hyung would get along great.’
‘One more thing we have in common.’
He looked puzzled, ‘what’s the other thing?’
‘Our love for you.’ This made him give you a big smile.
And for the greater good of everyone, jisung did not die :))

Viva Las Vengeance is out so I decided to waste 43 minutes of my life and here's my thoughts.
Note: any song after Local God is my first time listening to it, so all these reactions were written as the song was playing.
Also I'm using the tumblr app so idk how to cut text sorry.
Viva Las Vengeance:
This song has already been shat on to death for good reason
The verse and the chorus don't fit at all with each other
And the slow part near the end is not it😬
Middle of A Breakup:
Just saying this now the lyrics on these songs are VERY on the nose AND unoriginal
'Keep your disco, give me T-Rex' tf is that suppose to mean???
It's meh. Not as painful as the first one for sure.
Don't Let the Light Go Out:
Said it before and I'll say it again: Ed Sheeran knock-off.
Shows that Brendon doesn't need uplifting beats and screehing to make a good song
Well 'good' is subjective but this is one fo the better ones.
Local God:
This song should be in JAIL.
I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT IHATE IT-
Doesn't flow together AT ALL
It's 2022 Brendon why did you make an ENTIRE 3 MINUTE SONG about a guy you haven't talked to in YEARS???
Star Spangled Banger:
the title is a obvious lie, this shit ain't banging at ALL
Why is brendon sing-talking some parts in the verse?? Could he not fit all the lyrics in??
Good to know that the verse and the chorus not fitting together is gonna be a running theme throughout this album
God Killed Rock and Roll:
I swear the beginning of with the piano this sounds like a cheap knockoff of bohemian rhapsody
The musical flow of this song SUCKS so much its kinda funny. It starts with piano with an accompany of a chorus which is the only decent part of the entire song, then the pre-chorus has a quicker beat and the switch feels so abrupt.
I don't like that it sounds like brendon is trying to chase the lyrics in the chorus
Say it Louder:
Ngl the beat actually sounds good???
'For the people in the back(back, back, back) bros trying to create his own echo💀
None of it sounds out of place so far.. his voice does kind of sound a bit werid though its kind of expected of him at this point
OK nvm, it got slow again around the middle
Sugar Soaker:
The come on come ons do not fit the beat of the chorus. They fit the verses just fine though.
He's definitely making the choruses sound 'fulfilling' when it's just the verse but upped an octave. It just comes off as lifeless..
Wtf were those come ons at the end, its like hes creating dramatic tension through audio
Something About Maggie:
HELP NOT THAT HIGH NOTE FOLLOWED BY ALL THE LOW ONES, yeah that made me actually laugh
'Let him GOOO🤩' 'people say people say run away run away😈'
Sorry but the only ones who wrote a good line about slitting wrists were MCR and that was in 2004 🙄
Also Panic hasn't really been 'emo' since Fever (maybe Vices but that's pushing it) so not only is this line just yeesh it doesnt fit at all.😬
So glad Brendon decided to embrace his snake persona with how he's saying his s' at the end of sentences
'oh yeah'😚
Brendon PLEASE stop messing up the track by switching beats halfway through it
a a a a a a a a
Friendship ended with Sarah, now Maggie is my bestie
Sad Clown:
Title is kinda self-aware, ain't it?
Alright Brendon we know you were on Broadway but that doesn't mean you have to force yourself to sing like that on your songs
Only dogs can hear it I stg
Great he got slow AGAIN out of no where, cause that went so well the last time he did it (viva las vengeance)
All By Yourself:
Another self-aware title damn, he's on a kick with these.
He likes mentioning those posters on my wall. Ironically I have two IDKHOW and FØB posters and none of him lol.
Even with a slow song like this, it still feels like he's forcing himself to sing higher than he has to.
He was right about changing everything all by himself though.
This actually sounds pretty nice, I will admit.
Do it To Death:
What else is there left to say? It sounds the exact same as the other songs..
It keeps teasing me thinking he's gonna say something else-OH SCREW OFF NOW THIS 'shut up and go to bed' SHIT AGAIN
I sat through 40 minutes of your mediocre music just to get jumpscared with a viva las vengeance callback END ME
In short: im disappointed but not surprised. This doesn't even feel like Panic anymore. The lyrics are bland and repetitive, Brendons vocals are truely fighting on their last legs and the songs can't commit to a single beat. It's like he had too many ideas and thought he could execute them all but he couldn't. I can't believe this album is actually real, I refuse to listen to this ever again.
If the studio versions of these songs sound so dogshit, I canNOT wait to hear about the tour versions.
Bonus note: the song spotify decided to auto play right after finishing the album was Famous Last Words which idk whether to laugh or cry.

I think you and 🍰 have mentioned it before, but I’d love to hear your thoughts about the way the musical portrays L. The concept album was my introduction to Death Note as well, but I feel like the L in the songs is a much more dramatic take on L? Which, y’know, makes sense, since it’s ✨musical theatre✨ and all. Like, “The Game Begins” is SO fun, but we’d never get a monologue like it from L in the manga or anime. Idk, the musical paints a bit of a different image of L to me. Not a bad one at all, just a different one.
-🎲
holy space cows 🎲 anon okay let's go! again answering this before my other asks because it's more me rambling than an actual story
GOOOOOD musical L when I first watched the musical I wanted to pick him up take him out of the screen and squeeze him like a stress ball. honestly I loved (love?) him maybe even more than anime L dhdhhdh
I'll put a break in here because I think I'm gonna say a lot
like. he did so many things like anime L (I've never read the manga so I see that L as "base" L) but also I feel had his own quirks. like how he hopped onto chairs (Teen Angst L did this too but because it was screen not stage it felt different. I've done stage acting before so maybe it's just me but screen doesn't feel as close, I just loooove stage acting, UGH. This was also why it was more dramatic in some places, you have to act for the whole audience but, I'm assuming you didn't see it live, WAIT have you even watched the recorded version?? It's on YouTube it's sooo good the subtitles are great too, you can sing along to the songs. it's in Japanese tho. Anyway my point was going to be, because you're acting for people really far away, your movements will be big and dramatic and you'll notice this if it's recorded up close).
HIS VOICE WAS SO NICE TOO like damn this is a fine ass man. His songs, I agree looking back at them they aren't all things anime L would say, especially not unprompted. But I don't think that it was so far out of character that it was unbelievable, you know? I actually think that though yes, the Game Begins was dramatic, that was just the song and not the tone of it, if that makes sense. I'd say songs like Playing His Game and (I can't remember the name but the one LawLight duet they sing at the college? not the tennis one. UGH I know the Japanese...) Anyway, I'd say those songs are more ooc. Cause I think L sees all of his cases as a game, his job as a game. Like yes he cares about human life but he also only takes on interesting cases. I've heard this is more like his manga version, which is kinda cool that this "headcanon" of mine is "canon."
AHAHA anyway the point I was actually going to make with that paragraph was: in the final song (a little ooc but in some lines very in character) L holds this one "O" note that makes me go WEAK IN THE KNEES and of course Light is singing over it at the same time, sobs. This is in the Japanese version. I prefer that version overall, but I like some of the English songs too, like Playing His Game and Requiem. So if you haven't listened to it YOU SHOULD!! It's on YouTube music, you can search up english song name + death note musical. A lot of them are by "LyricNear" I think. and you can ofc watch the full musical. but aaaa the final song breaks my heart but I have to listen to that goddamn note... you guys... you don't understand.
Uh, the musical did of course take some creative liberties. There was no Matsuda which I will always bring up because it is a crime, MUSICAL REMISA WAS THE BEST, the limited runtime cut plots and explanations (I kind of appreciated the ending, though I cried because I was hoping it would end differently), and I don't think they had a Watari. Actually thinking about that, that's probably the most ooc L thing in the whole movie: being able to take care of himself. (well presumably to some degree considering he's still alive at the start)
But yeah... I love musical L... I don't mind when he's ooc because it only disrupts soft headcanons of mine, not hard ones. I also haven't watched it for a while so I may be misremembering some things, but still. Gosh I really want to hug him... his clothes look so soft.... maybe I'll just steal his voice box/j

Eddie smut please!
I’m thinking a fic based on the song sex from the 1975. Eddie and the reader are best friends and used to hang out every day until she got a boyfriend which Eddie is SUPER jealous of.
💕
Took me a second to get to this one, but I wanted it to be REALLY GOOD bc I love The 1975 and I love Eddie and I love you for being so supportive. 🥺❤ Also let me just tell you, I had SO much written and my phone died so I lost ALL OF IT. But we're back. We're trying again. Fuck.
I decided I love this prompt and I'm gonna make a series of this one specifically lmao. Once again, sorry it took so long. I almost gave up writing entirely after I lost my progress. 😂
She's Got a Boyfriend, Anyway.

It was the same routine everyday ever since you two met six years ago. You and Eddie spend every day, after school and weekends together. Aside from Hellfire, you're each other's only friend.
"Do you know Billy? Hargrove, I think?" You innocently ask, not thinking much of it.
"Hargrove? Yeah, guys a fucking dick." Eddie quips.
"I dunno, he seemed pretty sweet to me." You twirl your hair around your finger, watching the trees zoom past you as Eddie drives you both to his house.
"Oh, come on, Y/N. Don't tell me you're falling for that fake pretty-boy bullshit again." He laughs, referencing the fact that you dated Steve and got your heart broken within 5 months.
"Of course I'm not. I'm just, curious. He seems really nice, to me." A smile can't be helped from finding itself on your face.
"I'm nice to you. Why don't we just fuck in the back of the van right now?" Eddie furrows his brow dramatically, faking confusion for his perverted jokes.
"Shut up, idiot. I'm serious. I need your help picking out an outfit. He asked me out today." The last part of your sentence causes Eddie's smile to fall a bit. He may have hidden it behind an immature joke, but he was being serious too.
"Why would I know what Hargrove wants you to wear? What's wrong with the way you dress?" He questions.
"I don't know, man. I just want to look a little different. I don't want to look like-"
"A freak?" Eddie raises an eyebrow in an I see how it is fashion.
"No, I just want to look clean-cut. A little bit less like all I do is smoke weed and listen to music."
"But that is all you do." Eddie teases as he pulls into his driveway. "And if you want my fashion advice, my first suggestion is to stop stealing my shirts." He points to the worn band shirt draped over you. You roll your eyes and follow him to the front door of his trailer. Eddie's uncle is laying on the couch, looking a little pale.
"Wayne? Take the night off?" Eddie checks in. Wayne explains he's feeling sick so he took today off to recover.
"Hey, let's just hotbox the van. That way it doesn't get all smokey in here while Wayne's not feeling well." Your suggestion earns a thumbs up from Wayne. You've always been considerate like that, something he and Eddie both appreciate about you.
In the van, you climb past the seats, settling into the pile of blankets and various snack wrappers from when you and Eddie camp outside of concert venues for those barricade spots. Eddie follows close behind, eyes fixed on you as you get comfortable, kicking off your high tops and grabbing a magazine to flip through.
"You think Cyndi Lauper is like... Freaky? Like in bed?" You ask, still looking down at the bright red-haired woman's avant-garde makeup.
"She definitely either likes to be slapped around or likes to slap you around." A large, ring-clad hand takes the joint from his mouth and passes it to you. His jewelry catches the dim light of the back of the van.
While you hit the joint, Eddie flips through his many cassettes. He finally settles on Metallica's Kill Em All album, popping it into his radio. He relaxes into the moment, staring at you as he did every day for six years. He's slowly starting to figure out why it's his favorite past time, but for now he's just happy to be your friend.
"Do you think I should take my nose ring out for my date with Billy?" Your question shakes him from his daze and the mention of Billy's name causes his jaw to clench.
"Why would you do that?" Eddie's upper lip twitches in disgust. "He asked you out looking like this, why would you want to look different now?"
"I don't know, dude. I'm really fucking nervous." You cover your face with one hand, dragging it down. You're lying on your stomach, flipping through the magazine while your thoughts race. "He's coming to get me at 6 PM tomorrow." Eddie passes you the joint in a manner that says "shut up."
"Listen, can we change the subject? You're gonna make me sick." His voice comes out a little meaner than he intended, but he's too awkward to know how to fix it. Your eyes widen and you attempt to soften the tension.
"You're right," you laugh. "I tend to ramble a lot." Your face is flushed slightly with the tiniest hint of embarrassment because you didn't mean to get carried away. Noticing your shift, he wants to punch himself in the face.
"Uh, here! Let's smoke two joints and see who smokes theirs faster." Eddie shoves a joint between your fingers.
"You're on, Munson." You wait for him to finish rolling a second joint and you both lean into one lighter so you start smoking at exactly the same time. There were other lighters, y'all just aren't that smart.
As each of you pulls on your joints to get the cherry started, Eddie looks up from the flame, directly into your eyes. It takes a second for you to notice, but you look up, meeting his gaze. He doesn't move or blink, so you give a small smile around your joint. You lower the lighter after a second, having sufficiently lit the joints.
The contrast of the lighter going out shakes Eddie from his trance. The rest of the hang-out was casual and nothing short of your usual day together. Talking about sex, drugs, music, and occasionally DnD. Hours pass before you finally check your watch.
"Holy shit, Eddie. It's 10 o'clock!" You jump up from the soft blankets in the van. "I gotta go, I have to go to sleep soon or I'm gonna look dead tomorrow."
"Hop up front. I'll take you home." Eddie offers as if it's not your only way of getting home. The second you get in your door, you drag Eddie to your room.
"Please help me pick out an outfit, Eddie. It'll be so fast." You tug on the sleeve of his leather jacket. He rolls his eyes and hesitantly agrees. You scramble through your closet looking for something with the least amount of rips and tears. "What about this?" You hold up a dress you've never worn because it's periwinkle and you're not with it.
"A dress? Y/N, seriously?" Again, meaner than he intended. You once again did that thing you do when you're embarrassed and just try to smile the blush away, agreeing with whatever is being said to you.
"You're right, you're right. Um-" It was apparent in your voice that you were getting angry.
"Hey, Y/N-" Eddie attempt to meet your downcast eyes.
"Eddie, you can leave because I can tell you don't want to do this. I know you don't care about the date, and I know you hate Billy, so it was kind of shitty of me to ask you to help me. You're just," you stop to toss your hands up, defeated and dramatic. "My only friend and I like having your opinion on things."
Eddie could explode right now. He could punch himself directly between his own two eyes. No one has ever bitten their tongue as hard as he wished he'd bitten his just seconds ago. He stares at you apologetically, lips pressed tightly together in a speechless, straight line.
"Dude, I'm sorry. Let me help you, I was being a dick." Eddie start rummaging through your clothes.
"It's fine, man. I'm just nervous, I'm sorry." You look at the floor, defeated after your little outburst.
"Shut up, try this on." Eddie tosses you a random top. This is how all of your apologies went, ever since you met. They're almost instant. You've never had a "fight" last longer than a few hours.
You try the top on and it's perfect. Flattering in all the best ways, making you feel hot and comfortable. You pair it with a go-to pair of flared jeans and call it a night. Eddie waves and flashes a toothy grin as he exits out your window. He doesn't even actually need to use the window, he just likes to.
Back at his trailer, Eddie tosses and turns with anger. He didn't care that you had a date, he didn't care that it was with Hawkins's number one womanizer, he knew you could take care of yourself. He was mad because it wasn't him taking you on that date.
The next day Eddie wakes up feeling like he hasn't slept at all. His dreams were consumed with pictures of you, naked on his bed, reading your magazines and getting high. Just the memory of the dream is enough for him to wake up hard.
He shoves those thoughts to the back of his mind and checks the clock. Noon. Not bad for a weekend. Eddie throws the blankets back over his head and falls back asleep, silently hoping for more dreams of you.
Your date with Billy is in just a few hours, so you're getting ready in advance just in case. In case of what, you ask? You don't know. You're just really nervous. Billy picks you up and the two of you head off to the movies.
By the end of your date, you're officially Billy Hargrove's girlfriend. The way he asked was so perfect and romantic, you don't even know where to start. Your first instinct is to call your best friend and tell him everything, but then you remember how annoyed it made him before. So you hang up the phone before dialing and head to your bedroom.
Eddie wakes up, again, and checks the clock. 10 PM.
"Oh, shit." Eddie jumps up and runs to the living room. "Wayne, did Y/N call?"
"Nah, no calls. You sleep all Saturday?" Wayne's voice carries worry.
"Yeah, I don't wanna talk about it. I'll see you later." Eddie calls as he heads out to his van. A short trip later, he arrives at your house. This time using the window because he has to. He taps on it a little before just opening it as wide as possible.
"HOLY SHIT!" You yell having woken up to a dark, broad shouldered figure climbing through your window.
"You should really lock your windows, Y/N. I could've had ulterior motives." Eddie winks in the moonlight leaking through the window.
"Fuck, dude. What are you doing here? It's like 11 o'clock." You rub your eyes.
"It's 10:15 and I just wanted to see how the date went, damn." Eddie drops onto your bed. "So how'd it go?" Eddie smiles over your sleepy face.
"He asked me to be his girlfriend." You gush, blushing and fluttering your tired eyes. "We're seeing each other again tomorrow!"
"That's awesome, wow." Eddie works hard to sound excited for you, but he feels sick to his stomach. Seeing you this happy is enough for him to keep his comments to himself, though. For now.
Eddie turns to look at you, but you've already fallen back asleep. He watches you for a moment, regretting his choice to come here because this news is going to eat him alive when he tries to sleep tonight. Not to mention him already sleeping all day today.
The next day, you don't see each other. The day after that, the same. Billy steals you away every chance he gets. He knows you and Eddie are best friends, and he's hoping to help you realize there are more people to hang around than the local freak.
Two whole weeks pass and the only time Eddie sees you is at Hellfire. It's Friday again and you've arrived at Hellfire before anyone else, except Eddie, of course.
"Hey, man. I'm really excited for this finale!" You beam at him, causing his heart rate to rise.
"I'm glad you've still been able to make it considering you're always so busy." Eddie teases.
"I know, I'm sorry. We should hang out tonight!" Your suggestion catches Eddie off guard. "I'll tell Billy I'm riding home with you."
"Sounds great," Eddie smirks, basking in the idea of you telling Billy you can't hang because you're going to Eddie's. Hellfire club dismisses and you follow Eddie out to his van. Outside the doors, Billy is waiting, leaning against his Camaro.
"Hey, babe," Billy's smooth voice wraps around you like a rope, drawing you into him. "You ready to go?"
"Actually, I'm hanging out with Eddie tonight." You point to Eddie next to his van. "I haven't seen him in a few weeks, so I-"
"But you see him at Hellfire, don't you?" Billy, visibly bothered, folds his arms across his chest.
"Well, yeah. But that's like- it's not like hanging out. We're killing things and he's playing God." You struggle to explain.
"So you're just gonna go over to some guy's house, at night, instead of seeing your boyfriend?" Billy was starting to raise his voice ever so slightly.
"Whoa, man. I've known him for six years." You shake your head in shock.
"Whatever, if you're acting single tonight, I can do the same." And with that, he slides into his car and drives off. He makes sure to squeal the tires as he creates more distance between you. You scoff before shaking your head and walking over to Eddie.
"The fuuuuck was that?" Eddie tries to hide a giggle, giddy knowing he makes Billy so jealous.
"I don't know, dude. But it was kind of hard to watch." You laugh, causing Eddie's laugh to finally escape. The two of you crack up over Billy's little performance before heading back to Eddie's.
"He's literally never done that before. It was so weird. And he's fully aware that we see each other every day, he's never once made it a thing." You pass the joint to Eddie. With your legs extended across his mattress, you propped yourself up on his pillows. Fully occupying the bed.
"That's so fucking weird, man. I've heard he's a little insane." Eddie sits at the end of his bed, practicing chords on his acoustic guitar.
"I don't think he's insane. I just don't understand why he reacted that way." Your eyes remain glued to the page even after you feel Eddie's gaze on you. "What?" You finally look up at him.
"Just... Kinda sounds like you're defending him for no reason. You know, like you did before." He raises his eyebrows.
"Eddie, I-" you start, but you're cut off by car doors outside. You both rush to the blinds to peek, being nosy busybodies, but not giving a shit. That's when you notice Billy's car in the driveway of another trailer that he definitely doesn't live in.
"That's uh... That's Natalia's house." Eddie speaks nervously, knowing Natalia is well known at your school for... Let's just say, stealing boyfriends. As Billy approaches the door, he turns as if he knows you see him and winks at you with a big, gorgeous, evil grin. He disappears behind the door without a word.
"Well, damn." You stare in shock. "Good thing it's only been a few weeks, but damn."
"That was... A lot. You okay?" Eddie places a hand on your shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm not too worried about it." You shrug. Eddie scans your features for any kind of emotion, there doesn't seem to be any.
"Okay..." Eddie draws the word out. "Well, you uh... You acting single tonight?" He side-eyes you.
"Munson," you place a playful hand on your chest as if you're offended. "Feeling bold?" You raise an eyebrow, caught off guard by his question, but you can't deny the excitement it ignited in your stomach.
"Just seems a little unfair, that's all." He shrugs, carefully making his way closer to you.
"I guess so." You bite your lip. Your eyes are locked on your shoes until you feel two large hands gripping your shoulders. You look up to see Eddie gazing down at you with half-lidded, dark brown eyes.
"Let me," Eddie takes a deep breath. "Let me make you feel single." He chuckles into your ear.
"H-How do you plan on going that, Eddie?" You stutter through quickening breaths. Eddie is so close to you, you can barely keep him in focus.
"By fucking your pretty little brains out." His voice comes out in a low growl, sending chills down your spine to the heat building between your legs.
"Slow down, honey." You quip, backing him up and shoving him onto the couch. He stares up at you expectantly, an awe-struck look plastered across his face as he awaits your next move. You keep eye contact with him as you pull your hair back into a messy bun, kneeling between Eddie's legs.
"Jesus Christ," Eddie's voice is nothing less than a desperate huff of breath while he watches your hands slide up his inner thighs to his belt. You focus intently on the handcuff-shaped buckle, unfastening his pants and pulling back his boxers.
Your eyes widen as his erection springs past the elastic of his underwear. Losing all self-control, you grab his length and take him as far as possible down your throat.
"Holy shit," he grabs a fist full of your hair. "Just like that." He throws his head back, moaning into the emptiness of the trailer. You quicken your pace, earning louder moans and involuntary hip bucking.
Eddie pulls your mouth off his cock, tossing you onto the couch, effectively trading your places. He begins eagerly grabbing at your shirt and the button on your pants, but you stop him. You place your hands on his and hold them still, contemplating.
"I mean, we don't have to do this. I don't want to keep you from doing what you were doing, but if we're doing anything, we might as well just fuck." Eddie's words fill you with the most confusing feelings, but most of all, lust. He's right, Billy's at Natalia's most definitely cheating on you, you'll probably be done with him after this anyways. Might as well fuck your best friend.
You wrap your fingers around the collar of his jean vest and pull his lips into yours. He instantly kisses back, nipping lightly at your bottom lip with his teeth. Each gentle bite is closely followed by sweet, breathy moans from your chest. Eddie melts more and more with each high-pitched sound.
Eddie continues undressing you, audibly aroused more and more as you become exposed completely. He bites his fist watching you slide your delicate hand down to play with yourself for him.
"Somebody's needy," he chuckles, watching you intently. You circle your middle finger around your clit a few times before plunging your finger deep inside you. You and Eddie moan at nearly the same time.
"Don't make me wait all night, Eddie." Your low, sultry voice forces his hand onto his cock. He strokes himself, eyeballing the way your hands move to pleasure yourself.
"I think you'll be okay, sweetheart. Keep going." He towers over you, his rough voice cascading down to you like boulders down a hill. You do as he says, continuing to touch yourself while he does the same. You start fingering yourself faster, gasping lightly as your orgasm approaches.
Suddenly, your arm is yanked away.
"No!" You cry, replacing the hand with your other one only for it to be yanked away too. He pins both of your wrists above your head, positioning himself at your entrance. Your orgasm is quickly dissipating with nothing to rub against your aching clit.
"Just... Wait... A little... More..." Eddie hovers over you, one hand holding your wrists, the other sliding the head of his cock up and down your drenched folds. You writhe and squirm, desperate for contact, begging him to fuck you already. "Okay," he smiles deviously before slamming into you, hard.
"Eddie!" You moan as he glides in and out of you, low growls rumbling from his lips. His guitar pick necklace dangles in your face, brushing against the tip of your nose with each impaling thrust.
"You're so God damn tight, Y/N." His words are broken up by small grunts as he fucks you. "It's fucking unbelievable" You can't help but smile at his praise, happily taking all of him despite the dull pain of being stretched out so abruptly.
"I never thought I'd be hearing you say that to me, Eddie. Gotta be frank." You joke, still getting dicked into oblivion.
"I did," he winks, picking up his pace. Your moans get louder and louder, the pit in your stomach doubling by the second. Sweat clings to the curls around his face, securely gluing them to his jawline. Still fucking you, he rises up straight and sheds his jacket/vest before nearly tearing the shirt off his body.
He returns to his position over you, never breaking his stride. Sweat glistens down his body as his back curves and arches as he slams into you. Your breath begins to hitch in your chest from your orgasm building up.
"Eddie, I-I'm gonna-" he cuts you off with a hard kiss. He throws your legs over his shoulders, hungrily grabbing at your thighs as he fucks you over the edge. You arch your back as the waves of pleasure shoot through your core. You drench Eddie's pelvis in the evidence of your arousal, but he doesn't stop fucking you.
Instead, he flips you onto your stomach. He grips the hair on the back of your head and pulls roughly to get you to assume an all-fours position. You follow his silent directions and he slips himself back in your fucked out hole.
"Fuuuuuck," he sighs as he slides into you. "So fucking good." He mewls out above you, fucking harder and deeper into your pussy with each thrust. You try to protest, tell him it's too much, but he buries your face in the cushion and continues chasing his high.
"Eddieeee!" You scream, suddenly cumming yet again.
"Shut up, just a little more." He huffs angrily, stone focused on the way your back flexes as you fight to hold yourself up. You're a weak, fucked out mess by now, still taking his hard cock. High-pitched whines and cries leak past your lips as he continues, very suddenly picking up his speed at the last second.
"Oh my God, Eddie please!" You cry into the cushion. He thrusts a few times more before pulling out and finishing all over your round ass. Your legs finally collapse and you're laying face down, hair a mess, covered in sweat and cum that isn't your boyfriend's.
"Holy shit," Eddie fights to catch his breath.
"Have fun?" That's all you can say through your dicked down haze.
"Yeah," he sighs. "A lot better than I ever imagined it." He chuckles.
"How many times have you imagined it?" You raise, quizzically.
"Lots and lots of times, Y/N." He shines his famous downturned smile and winks. You feel the blood rise quickly in your cheeks.

Since another asker is talking about Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo, I want to recc a few GriffGuts songs by them too! "The grudge", "lacy" and "get him back!" fit them super well, and they're all from Olivia's GUTS album lol. Taylor's 1989 vault tracks "now that we don't talk," "say don't go", "is it over now?" (and even "suburban legends" for a modern au) are pretty perfect for them too! I love thinking abt them in the context of teen breakup albums, bc it puts into context how young (cont.)
(cont.) they were when all the shit went down oof. (And Ribs by Lorde is another White Girl Song™ that's super GriffGuts coded lmao, especially the last part). Btw, out of curiosity~ I know you have a gigantic drive with GriffGuts songs, but if you had to select a top 15, what would they be? (Based on the criterias of how much you like the songs and how much they fit the dynamic). My top 1 for those dramatic dumbasses will always be No Children by The Mountain Goats, bc that shit slaps hard
Sorry this response took a while lol, I like to listen to every song people suggest, and I've been busy with Christmas stuff for a bit.
Oh yeah totally agree with your picks, especially The Grudge and Say Don't Go! Honestly teen breakup songs are often pretty fitting for them lol, it suits the drama and yeah, the fact that they are technically teens in the Golden Age, which can be easy to forget. Also yeah lol No Children is one of my faves too, it's one of those songs where like, if I can apply it to a ship you know it's a great ship lol.
As for my own faves, I actually don't have my Berserk playlist available right now because I moved laptops and my music playlists got left behind so I have to find where they are on the last laptop and I'm lazy, so I'm going off memory lol.
So yeah, idk if these are always gonna be my top 15 Griffguts songs, but this is what I'm feeling right now, in no particular order:
Once Upon a Dream - Lana Del Rey The Moth - Aimee Mann Take Me - Sisyphus You'll Follow Me Down - Skunk Anansie Drag - Placebo You Had Me - Hannah Fury Devotion - Tracy Chapman Without You I'm Nothing - Placebo ft Bowie I Don't Have Anything - VAST Like a Friend - Pulp Ruin - The Pierces Black Heart - Hey Rosetta! You're the Storm - The Cardigans I Against I - Mos Def + Massive Attack Because of You - Skunk Anansie
I'm also gonna link these two playlists I made. Some of the songs are repeats, but lots aren't.
Thanks for the ask, and your patience!
