I do (Julieta x F!Reader)
Tumblr media
a/n: this got out of hand so, long post ahead!
a/n 2: Pepa’s kind of a bish in this one, don’t read if you don’t want to see her in that light.
_____________________________
"You look beautiful"
You didn't even look up when your future brother-in-law walked in. You didn't feel like seeing anyone, you just wanted to scream, cry, destroy the bouquet of flowers in your hands and tear your white dress to shreds. You just wanted to get out of there.
But you had nowhere to go. Your parents had been very clear about it, just like Alma Madrigal. It didn't matter what you wanted, it didn't matter who you loved, and it didn't matter if you agreed to this, you would marry Alma's daughter. No one seemed to care that it might be the wrong daughter.
"I should have listened to her" you whispered "I should have gone with her that night"
"Mom and Pepa would have known and it would have been worse for her"
You closed your eyes remembering the horrible bruise on Julieta's cheek after receiving a slap from Alma, and the image of Pepa's lightning striking too close to her eye would haunt your nightmares forever.
In the end, Casita had to intervene to allow the brunette to escape to her room, which she had not left since then. It wasn't fair, the only sin she had committed was saying that she loved you.
"It should have been me" you said, clenching your fists "Julieta shouldn't have been hurt, it should have been me."
"You know that Pepa would never hurt you" the man said, putting a hand on your shoulder in an attempt to comfort you.
"And what is she doing right now?!" you growled "she's forcing me to marry her, even though she knows I don't love her and never will! And all for what? To prove herself better than her sister"
"That is not true-"
"I'm a fucking trophy for her!" You yelled "You and I both know this is just to have something Julieta couldn't"
"Don't talk about Pepa like that" the youngest of the triplets said, frowning "You don't know her, she would never do something like that, she loves you and she loves Julieta"
"Of course she does, because you throw lightning at someone you love. Because you hurt someone you love. Because you tear the souls of those you love" you said bitterly "if that's her love, I don't want it"
"You're talking about my sister" the man told you, already annoyed with your attitude "I won't let you say bad things about her on her wedding day"
"It's my wedding too" you growled "And in case you forgot, Bruno, Julieta is your sister too, and guess where she is? Locked in her room, after your mother and your other sister attacked her. Beautiful family you have."
"Stop it! We're all trying to make things easier for you, Y/N, you're being ungrateful"
It wasn't common for the man to lose his temper like that, but Pepa was his sister and he wasn't going to allow her own future wife to speak ill of her, you were being irrational about this. Although, a small part of him wondered if he wasn't so defensive just because deep down he knew you were right.
"You're just upset that things didn't go the way you planned"
"The way I planned?" you asked in disbelief "For it to rain on my wedding day would be a change of plans, for my dress to rip and I had to wear another would be a change of plans, for the cake to ruin would be a change of plans. Being forced to marry the wrong Madrigal sister just because she threatened with a hurricane if I didn't and to fulfill a whim is not a change of plans, it's fucking shit!"
"Julieta wouldn't have been a better match and you know it" Bruno said seriously "She doesn't have Pepa's energy, her passion, or her intensity. She doesn't love as hard as Pepa does"
"And so what?! I love her, Bruno" you hissed "I love her more than I've ever loved anyone. I love her simplicity, I love her calm, her way of loving without words, I love everything about her and no one is going to change it, no matter how many yellow dresses you make me wear, my heart will always be blue."
Bruno looked into your eyes while the tears threatened to fall, and he could not find in you a trace of a lie, only a deep sadness, anger, and a love so great that it hurt him to see it, knowing that it was not going to get where it should. Because at that moment he knew that no matter how bright the sun shined on you, you were never going to love it like you loved the moon.
"I…I'm sorry, Y/N" he whispered "I'm sorry it had to happen like this"
"Go away" you sighed "leave me alone. I have to compose myself for the ceremony...because I'm not going to give your mother, your sister, my parents, or the entire town, the satisfaction of seeing me cry"
Bruno looked at you for another second, while you turned around with your fists clenched. He knew that you would probably have fingernail marks on the palms of your hands, but there was nothing he could do. He walked out of there as quietly as he could, praying that this wasn't a terrible mistake, and if it was, that one day you'd forgive them all.

Pepa smiled when she saw you walk slowly towards her, arm in arm with your father. The day was perfect! It was sunny, the birds were singing, and there were at least three rainbows going through Encanto. It was just how her big day was supposed to be, except for one small detail. You.
When she imagined her wedding as a child, she always imagined walking towards a strong, handsome man who loved her madly, not a girl who walked as if she were going to the gallows and whose gaze radiated hate. But it was what it was.
She supposed that on some occasions she also imagined her sister by her side as the bridesmaid, but as they grew older, the brunette had insisted on making her less, always being the center of attention and stealing the applause that was her rightful share, besides, considering that Julieta tried to steal her fiancée, the redhead was relieved that her sister was not present.
Not that Mom would have allowed it, of course. After the dinner scene a few days ago, when Julieta admitted her relationship with you (that woman's nerve! Dating HER future wife?!) and things got out of hand (the brunette was begging for one of her lightning bolts), she didn't even want to imagine what could happen if you saw her there.
Of course, Pepa knew that you felt something for her sister, but it was only because you had never had the opportunity to date her (Julieta's fault), just as she knew that any trace of pity you might feel for the healer would vanish in a few days, after seeing how wonderful she was! Oh yeah, you'd be the perfect couple!
And her mother would be so proud of her, the whole town would see how truly perfect Pepa was and they would apologize to her for having given that adjective to the wrong sister. Everything would be perfect for her.
What did it matter if Julieta cried every day? So what if it hurt her every time she saw you with her? It would be no more painful than what she and Bruno had been through since they were children and given gifts less perfect than to heal with food. It was the brunette's turn to suffer.
It was true that you too had been reluctant to cooperate, but she didn't mind, she would have you eating out of the palm of her hand in no time, and making you love her would be no problem. Besides, she had already won, you were already hers and Julieta wouldn't have a chance to tear you away from her. Perfection itself.
If you could only smile.
____________________
You kept your gaze straight ahead, not even deigning to look at the redhead next to you (you didn't take her hand either), or at your father when he withdrew. You hated them, you hated them all.
You could feel everyone's eyes on you, judging you, you could hear the whispers and imagine the frowns. A bride who didn't smile on her wedding day? Imagine it. Well, fuck them. You couldn't escape, but you weren't going to play the perfect wife that Alma and Pepa Madrigal wanted you to be.
The priest looked at you with concern, and then at the other bride. You didn't even have to look at her to know that she had a smirk on her face and the mere thought made you grip the bouquet in your hands harder, almost crushing it.
"Smile a bit will you?" Pepa whispered to you when the priest started talking to the crowd
"The only reason I had to smile is locked in a room in your house" you answered without looking at her
"Get over it, you did even better! You're marrying the most beautiful woman in town"
"You and I know that she should be in that chair, not you" you hissed hatefully.
Pepa frowned and for a moment you felt something close to happiness when the day darkened a bit. Not a hurricane, but you were happy that the redhead's "perfect" day had gray clouds after all. She deserved it.
The other woman didn't speak again during the entire ceremony, for which you were grateful, but she smirked at you when you said "I do", sending another wave of hate through your entire being. But you weren't going to let her break you, ever. If she wanted your marriage to be a declared war for the rest of her life, so be it.
When the priest said wives could kiss, you took the opportunity to whisper something to her, and stick a dagger into her chest. You didn't care if you were cruel or if it unleashed a storm outside (although many sure were confused by that). If you couldn’t wake up from the nightmare, no one could.
"I'm going to imagine that I’m kissing her" you whispered before sealing your lips with Pepa's
______________________
You smirked as your wife closed the door to your shared room with a loud bang. It was no secret to anyone that you took macabre pleasure in making her angry, which usually ended on a freezing or terribly rainy day. Excellent, fuck the whole town.
"You have to stop doing that" Pepa growled dangerously
"Do what, my love?" you answered, letting the venom drip from your voice on the last words "I thought you wanted me to get along with your family better, so I helped my dear sister-in-law to cook"
A thunder sounded over your heads when the redhead heard your tone when saying "dear". Her blood was boiling and she hated the way you could control her so easily. This was not how it was supposed to be. You had to fall at her feet, you had to love her, take care of her, pamper her, do what she asked of you, you were HER wife!
But instead, it had been her who had ended up completely obsessed with you. In those few months of marriage, she had done everything to make you fall in love but nothing worked, you only gave her looks full of hate and words loaded with impenetrable ice, which drove her crazy and made her try again more desperately. It seemed that the more you tried to get away, the more she wanted you.
Though she wasn't the only one receiving hostile treatment from you. Bruno would often try to strike up a friendly conversation with you, only for you to snap back, and her mother you just ignored, no matter how much she yelled at you or tried to correct you, it was like you didn't hear her, as of you didn't see her.
The only person who seemed to exist for you, not just inside Casita, but in the entire town, was exactly the one person you should NOT care about. Julieta. Of course, her sister would try to do something like that, take you away from her. Well, she wasn't going to succeed.
"I don't want you to go near her, is that clear?"
"No, it's not" you answered immediately "I'll be as close to her as the stupid bond that binds you and me allows"
"She's turning you against me!"
"You did that yourself!" you growled "when you decided you didn't care who you hurt as long as you won a war that only you are fighting!"
"That’s not true!" Pepa yelled "she started all this! She is the one who decided that she had to be perfect, that she had to be better than everyone!"
"That's what your mother did! Alma put that burden on her, Julieta just tried to do the best she could with what she had"
"Why are you defending her?!"
"Because I love her!"
A wave of satisfaction washed over you as a mighty thunderclap resounded throughout the room (and you were sure the entire town as well) and you saw the redhead clench her fists. However, the pain in her eyes took you by surprise, as did the slight flicker of concern in your chest.
"I am your wife" Pepa said slowly and dangerously "you have to love ME"
And right there, just as quickly as it had appeared, your concern and empathy for her drained from you. You hardened your gaze and stood up straighter, unfazed by the fire in her eyes or the darkening clouds above you. You knew she wouldn't hurt you, if only to not give you the perfect excuse to go back to her sister's side.
"You were my friend, Pepa" you said "I loved you like a sister, and you didn't care about hurting me, you didn't care about what I wanted, you didn't care about anything"
"It isn't true!"
"You didn't care about anything but proving you were better than Julieta!"
"I'm better than her!"
"Not for me" you said dryly "you will never be for me"
Pepa felt how her eyes stung and her tears threatened to fall at any moment. She couldn't understand how you could be so cruel to her when all she did was give you the best chance ever!
"You knew that I didn't love you" you continued "and still you forced me to marry you"
"You were going to run away with my sister!"
"I was going to marry MY girlfriend!"
Lightning struck a few feet behind your wife and the air around you suddenly turned too cold. You hugged yourself a bit, but you never stopped looking at the woman in front of you.
"You were going to do what?" Pepa whispered
"I was going to marry her" you repeated "the night you and your mother hurt her, when you threw lightning at her, when Alma called her a whore, she had just proposed to me"
"You're lying" the redhead said "it's not true! You just want to hurt me more!"
"Julieta proposed to me! And I said yes!" you yelled "That's why I told you that she should be the one next to me that day, she should be the one to kiss me! I owed her the 'I do'. HER, NOT YOU!"
"SHUT UP!"
You jumped as the next bolt of lightning fell at your feet and for a moment it was as if time stood still. It was the closest she had come to actually physically hurting you. You really had crossed a line and yet…yet you had no regrets. Once you crossed, there was nothing to stop you.
"I'm sorry" you said, making her look at you "but I don't love you, Pepa, and I never will. You took everything from me, you hurt the woman I love, you forced me to marry under threat...you took me away from her"
"She wasn't good for you"
"And who was? You?" you asked hatefully "on the wedding day I told Bruno that no matter how many yellow dresses you make me wear, my heart will always be blue, and it remains the truth. I love her, she loves me, and you're not going to change it"
"Why?" she whispered "what does she have that I don't?!"
"A heart"
Pepa felt as if you were sticking a dagger into her chest and the air left her lungs. Why did you have to treat her like this? Why were you so cruel to her?! Why couldn’t you love her as much as you loved her sister? Why was she losing again?
"Your problem is that you've always compared yourself to Julieta when you should be yourself" you said "you're not Julieta and you'll never be...you're Pepa, and I'm sure you can shine with your own light if you just stop trying turn off your sister’s"
Your wife looked at you with confusion, but also a hint of hope, and for the first time, you wondered if anyone had ever told her that it was okay not to be like her older sister, that it was okay to feel like herself and not a shadow of the brunette. It ached your heart to think that the obvious answer was no.
"You let yourself be consumed by a war that only exists in your head" you continued "Julieta has never wanted to fight with you, she has never tried to take your place, she only wanted her sister back, the one she played with, the one who hugged her and laughed with her"
"That girl has long since ceased to exist" the redhead replied bitterly
"I know. You, your mother, and the town took it upon yourselves to bury her" you said sadly "Now there's only a broken woman left, consumed by her own pain and anger. You're raining on people who never did anything to you"
"And what do you know?" she growled "you didn't even want to know me enough"
"Neither did you" you answered "You only dragged me into the fire. But I guess you got what you wanted in the end"
"What are you talking about?"
"You wanted your trophy" you said "Here I am...but remember that metal is cold"
You didn't even give her time to say anything else before quickly walking around her, not caring about the rain that began to fall, and leaving the room.

"You have to stop"
"I'm not doing anything"
Julieta held Bruno's gaze over the table with her arms crossed. She hadn't forgiven her siblings or her mother for what they had done to you, but her little brother's betrayal had hurt her more than anything.
She knew Pepa was in constant competition with her, even though she wasn't really actively participating in it beyond doing her chores. It hurt her to lose her sister like that, but she had long since given up trying to convince her that they didn't need to compete with each other.
Her mother was a lost cause. Since she got the gift, she quickly understood that she was just a gold coin to Alma, that she wasn't even a person anymore, she was a gift, a power, nothing human.
But Bruno...he was all she had left. She always tried to protect him, she always healed him, took care of him, and gave him the love that neither Alma nor the town seemed to want to give him. He was the only one who knew of her relationship with you, she had confessed to him how much she really loved you, how much she wanted a life with you... and yet he stabbed her in the back.
He had watched as Alma slapped her, while she and Pepa yelled horrible things into her face and her sister shot a light too close to her eye saying no one would think she was pretty with a scar. He had let them hurt her, and even more! He had agreed to the plan to marry you off to Pepa.
So no, it didn't matter how much he'd apologized after the wedding, it was too late and there was not a shred of kindness left in her for him or anyone else at Casita. The only thing holding her up was you.
You and your adorably stubbornness. You had made it clear that your true colors were hers and that you were never going to stop being hers, no matter what ring Alma made you wear in public.
And they couldn't even accuse you of anything because, as much as it hurt you both, neither she nor you had crossed any lines. Damn, she hadn't even had the nerve to kiss you after you were married, no matter how much she wanted to.
"You have to make Y/N stop following you" Bruno said, snapping her out of her thoughts "you're hurting Pepa"
"I don't think she or you are in a position to talk about hurting, hermanito" Julieta replied dryly.
"You have to grow up and let her go. She's your sister's wife!"
"She should have been MY wife!"
"But she's not!"
"And whose fault is it?!"
Bruno blinked. He had never seen such fire in the brunette's eyes and for a moment, he felt in real danger. His stomach turned with guilt, but he had to go through with his speech if only to not disobey his mother.
"Just...stop looking for her and let her be happy with Pepa"
Julieta scoffed and dug her nails into her forearms for a moment before taking a deep breath and looking directly into her brother's eyes.
"Do you really think that she is happy with Pepa?" she asked "Look me in the eye, Bruno and tell me that you really think that Y/N is or could be happy with her"
"S-she could be if you-"
"Look me in the eyes!"
The man jumped and swallowed hard, feeling increasingly uncomfortable in the presence of this new Julieta who commanded respect and fear with just one look.
"I-I" he stuttered.
"In the eyes, Bruno"
He took a deep breath before forcing himself to look his older sister in the eye. His stomach turned guiltily again as he realized the enormous sadness in them, a sadness he himself had helped put there. He couldn't hold her gaze for more than a few seconds.
"Tell me that you really think she can be happy with Pepa" Julieta whispered "and I swear I'll do everything possible to get away from Y/N"
Bruno stared at the floor and felt how his mind was divided between not wanting to anger his mother, protecting Pepa's happiness (although in those months he wondered more and more frequently if it really was happiness or just a whim), or admitting what he knew it was the truth. Maybe...maybe he owed it to Julieta.
"...no" he finally said "she won't. She will never be happy with Pepa"
The brunette sighed and dropped her arms to her sides. She knew that answer, she didn't need her brother's power to come to the same conclusion. But it felt good that someone else would admit the painfully obvious.
"...you have to be quick and quiet" Bruno whispered, approaching her carefully "go away at night, Pepa goes to sleep at 11"
"What are you-"
"We both know that there will never be a chance for you and Y/N to be happy as long as you stay in Encanto. Neither mom nor Pepa will allow it. You have to go"
Julieta looked at him like he was growing another head and hated herself a little for how fast hope was growing in her chest. What if it was a trap? Her brother had already shown which side he was on many times.
As if he read her mind, Bruno took her hand and intertwined their fingers the same way she did to calm him down when they were kids. The gesture felt a little strange because they hadn't done it in years.
"I supported the wrong sister" he said "and I can't apologize because I know I don't deserve it, but give me one last chance, one last trust"
The brunette looked at her brother's face looking for any sign of lies or false promises, she had always been good at reading him. But she found nothing, so either he had become an expert at lying...or he was telling the truth.
"...Just one" she whispered.
Bruno smiled gratefully and nodded. He looked around, afraid someone might show up. When he confirmed that they were still completely alone in the kitchen, he leaned close to her again to whisper in her ear.
"I had a vision a few days ago, but it was changing. Either Y/N stays with Pepa or she chooses you. If she chooses you, you can escape at night, no one will discover you, take food with you, your gift will work even outside of Encanto. It will be difficult, but I saw a kind and happy future for you"
He spoke as fast as he could, not wanting to risk any more than he already was. His sister wanted to say something, but he covered her mouth before she could.
"But, if she chooses Pepa, out of fear or pity, never out of love, I saw a cold, gray future and... without you in it"
Julieta gasped silently and looked at her brother. She doubted that he was referring to Pepa or someone else hurting her, but that she herself would take care of erasing herself from history. It wasn't unreasonable to think about it, if it wasn't with you, she didn't want to live her life.
"I need to talk to her" she whispered.
"I saw her leaving Pepa's room and because of the rain, it's obvious that they fought. She's probably in the river"
The healer nodded and for the first time in a long, long time, she smiled at her brother. She took him by surprise by pulling him and hugging him tightly, he wouldn't admit it, but he had missed his older sister’s arms.
"Thank you, Brunito"
He nodded and motioned for her to hurry up, she wouldn't have much time to talk to you before Alma called everyone to dinner. Julieta felt her heart race as she ran as fast as her legs would carry her, not caring about getting wet from the rain.
The only thing on her mind was you and the chance, however small, to finally be happy with you. She just hoped that unlike the night she asked you to run away so you wouldn't get married, this time you'd say yes.
___________________________
"Y/N!"
You jumped a bit and quickly turned to see who had followed you. For a moment you were scared by the possibility that it was your wife because Pepa was getting better and better at getting empathy out of you and the pang of guilt you felt when you left her in your shared room was proof of that.
You didn't want to admit it, but a part of you was going soft, resigning yourself to being with the redhead for the rest of your days. You sighed in relief and your pulse raced with anticipation when you saw Julieta running towards you.
"Juli?!" you gasped as she lunged at you, hugging you tightly and not caring that anyone might see her (although with the rain it was pouring, you doubted anyone else was out of their houses, much less near the river) "what's going on?"
"I'm sorry" she said "it's just..."
The brunette squeezed you a little more before pulling away so she could take your face in her hands. She knew that her time was running out, but at that moment she couldn't control the wave of happiness that ran through her.
You blinked as she laughed and began planting several kisses on your cheeks (never on your lips. God, you missed her lips on yours so much) and you blushed deeply. Your mind was torn between pulling away from her for fear someone would see or pushing her against the nearest tree and kissing her as you'd wanted for months. In the end, you decided to just put your hands on her hips.
"What was that for?" you asked when she finally stopped
"I talked to Bruno" she said "he... he said we have a chance"
"A chance?" you frowned in confusion "a chance for what?"
Julieta just rolled her eyes in loving exasperation and stared at you, waiting for your brain to wake up. You looked at her, quickly getting lost in her beautiful eyes that you loved so much, forgetting for a moment what you were supposed to be talking about...but that was exactly what made you react and understand the meaning of her words.
"Wait...you mean" you whispered "no...no, Juli, that can't...can it? You mean-"
You felt your breathing quicken and your head began to spin as a small anxiety attack came over you. You didn't want to believe so quickly, you didn't want to fly high and high only to fall again, but deep down you knew that you would always hold on to any crumb of hope that would allow you to be with your brunette.
“Respira, mi amor, respira" Julieta hastened to take your hands and caress your knuckles to calm you "like that, breathe with me"
She gently guided you until your ear was on her chest, just above her heart. That had always managed to calm you down quickly, and her chest swelled with pride to see that it was still the case.
"I'm sorry" you whispered, a little calmer
"Better?"
You nodded and looked up, she was smiling at you with as much love and happiness as you hadn't seen her do in months and that just slammed all your hopes back into you.
"What did Bruno tell you?" you asked
"That we can escape"
"Escape?"
"We can't stay here" she sighed "he said he saw two futures. One with me and one with Pepa-"
"When do we leave?" you asked, interrupting her and making her blink
"I didn't even finish telling you"
"It doesn't matter. If it's escaping with you and staying with Pepa, I choose you. Always you"
Julieta gasped silently and didn't even try to stop the huge smile that began to bloom on her face. She put her hands on your hips and pinned you to her body, making you put your hands on her shoulders. You shuddered against her as her warm breath collided with the cold of the rain and your wet skin.
"Are you sure?" she whispered and you could hear the fear in her voice, a fear you knew perfectly well where it was coming from.
"I'm done choosing fear" you said "I don't care if I have to follow you to the other side of the world, I will. I choose you…I choose an 'us', and if they give me 1000 more lives, I'll choose you in every single one"
The healer smiled again and her tears mixed with the raindrops falling on you. She grabbed your left hand and without hesitation ripped off your wedding ring, neither of you cared where it landed, and pulled from her apron pocket the same ring she had given you when she proposed to you, the one her mother had tried to disappear.
"It's enough that you choose me in this one" she whispered "so...Y/N Y/L/N...would you like to write a new story with me?"
You smiled and trembled a little as you felt her slide the ring onto your finger. As soon as she released your hand, you pounced on her, pressing her against the tree behind her and kissing her as deeply as you had wanted for so long, as it always should have been.
She couldn't even feel the cold of the rain or the hardness of the tree on her back, she could only feel you, your warmth, your love, the promise you were making. You smiled as you pulled away from her, pressing your forehead to hers.
"I do"

Day 1-Mirror sex
Julieta walked into her room to see everything out of order. Clothes a mess, vanity also a mess. And she knew exactly who did it. “Pet. Come here.” She saw Y/N walk into the room with a Smirk “Yes My Queen?” You asked with the said smirk on your face “What the Fuck is this? Why is my Whole room a mess?.” Julieta asked sternly and she didn’t like the answer. “Oh Come on Julie it was a Joke!” That’s what broke her, she pulled you infront of the Mirror basically ripping your clothes off “We discussed this Pet. Its either ‘Mommy,My Queen’ or ‘Mistress’” Julieta growled wrapping her hand around Your neck leaning closer to your ear “Understood?.” You nodded quickly “Words.” “Yes Mommy” Julieta smiled “Good pet~” as she Pushed two fingers into your pussy, it was music to her ears hearing you gasp and so she started Moving “Look at you, You were so full of yourself a moment ago.. What happened~?” You were Gasping but couldn’t get any words out “you can’t even talk! as soon as Your Queen pushes her fingers inside you you can’t speak..~ Thats so Devastatingly cute~…” You Grunted “I know Baby, But You got yourself into this mess, now let Mommy use her Toy~ mkay?” She smirked as she saw you nod, you were so obedient..You are also a brat. You stood at the kitchen counter, eating the delicious empanadas your girlfriend had made for dinner. Your muscles ached from a long day at work and you were exhausted so this was just what you needed. A plate of them had been left for you, along with a note that said “For Y/N” written in cursive with a heart next to it. You stared at the intricate details on the note as you ate, like Julieta’s handwriting and the way she wrote her cursive r’s so dramatically and large. It was elegant looking really. And the way she wrote your name made you a little weak in the knees if you were being honest. It always made you really happy when she did little things for you like this. It was how she showed her love.
The delicious flavors spread throughout your mouth as you let out a contented sigh. A few cuts and bruises you had received during the day had faded, the pain subsiding and the tenderness gradually going away. Julieta wasn’t present in the kitchen with you as you ate. To be fair, you had gotten home really late and figured that the woman must’ve gone to sleep. The only thing accompanying you as you ate was the soft breeze and the moonlight that shone through the kitchen window.
As you took the last bite of your empanada, you heard footsteps coming towards the kitchen. You cocked an eyebrow and peeked over to where the steps were coming from until they reached the kitchen. Of course, it was Julieta. She walked in, and her tired expression turned into one that was happy and cheerful. It was so cute how her eyes lit up at the sight of you.
“Oh my gosh, home already?” the woman asked, looking at her wrist and pretending to look at the time as she walked over to you.
“Only home for you Juli” you said, swallowing the last bite of the food you had in your mouth.
The woman chuckled as she brought her face close to yours and greeted you with a kiss. After she pulled away, she paused, touching foreheads with you as she took your hands.
“Oh how I’ve missed you” she said as she stroked your cheek “Life is quite boring without you here.”
You rolled your eyes lovingly as you gave her hand a small squeeze in return “Let’s do something fun then… as a celebration since I’m back home.”
“And what would that be?”
“Oh… I don’t know…” you responded “Maybe….”
As you said this, you let go of the women and scurried over to the cabinet and took out a bottle of tequila.
“How about a strip tease?!?” you said as you ran back over to her and shook the bottle in her face.
“Y/N, no!” she exlaimed “We cant do a… strip tease in my house! We could get caught!” the woman told you, whisper yelling “Also, you know I don’t drink! I don’t like how you could get drunk and forget everything! Plus, tequila has the worst hangovers!!!”
“Come on Juli please?” you begged, frowning “A few shots won’t hurt! Live a little!”
“But I have to cook breakfast tomorrow morning!”
“So? Everyone here is grown enough to do it themselves. If anything Felix can cook. He’s a natural.”
The woman rolled her eyes as she put her hands up in surrender “Okay okay fine. Just this once. You’re lucky I’m feeling rebellious.”
“Yay!” you cheered as you grabbed her by her apron and pulled her in, kissing her passionately. You broke the kiss quickly, wanting to tease her by biting her lip as you pulled away.
“That’s my girl” you told her with an innocent smile.
You noticed how her breath hitched and how she kept you close. Gosh, this was really gonna get her going now.
Acting as if you had done nothing, you walked over to the table and Julieta grabbed two shot glasses. You sat down on one side and Julieta sat down opposite of you, right in front. You popped the bottle open and poured the alcohol into both shot glasses, filling them up to the top.
“So…” Julieta began, tapping her finger on the table nervously “How are we gonna do this?”
You smirked as your eyes trailed away from the drinks and onto the women. Her eye bags were heavy, the purple color being very prominent under her eyes despite her dark skin. Her hair was a little messy too, some stray hairs poking out of her signature loose bun and the way she slouched definitely showed how today had worn her out. This was definitely gonna help relax her. A lot.
“Basically, we’re going to ask each other questions about ourselves and if one of us gets it wrong, we take off a piece of clothing. Whoever is completely naked first loses and is at the winner’s utter disposal.”
“Oh wow… that sounds-“
“Fun right?” you cut her off “The rules are: no lying about your answers, you HAVE to take your clothes off and it can literally be anything, the questions can’t be too hard, and its up to the winner to what we do after this.”
Julieta smirked “Ah, so that’s why you asked to play this huh? You’re good.”
“Oh I know” you said, waving your hand as if it was nothing “I get that a lot.”
Setting the bottle down, you tell Julieta to start.
“Okay so, what’s my favorite color?” Julieta asks.
“Easy” you respond “Blue.”
Julieta bows her head in a ‘well done’ motion.
“What’s my favorite body part of yours?” you ask, crossing your arms.
Julieta scoffs “It’s my lips” she says “I know you can’t get enough of them.”
You cock an eyebrow and think of a funny way to tease her so you ask Which ones?”
The second the question triggered in Julieta’s mind, she started blushing uncontrollably, covering her face and hiding it in her hands.
“You know, I really hate you sometimes!”
You laugh “So what’s your answer?”
She looks up at you, only allowing her eyes to show as her hands cover her blushing face.
“Both.”
“Good girl. You know me too well.”
“Ok so…” Julieta shifts in her seat, lifting her head back up in an attempt to boost her confidence “What did I make last night for dinner?”
She did not. She was really doing this. She knew your memory was terrible when it came to things like this. She watched your face of cockiness turn into one of shock with a hint of fear.
“No no no” you put a finger up before the woman could speak again “I know this one. It was uh-”
You continued racking your brain for an answer but you truly had no idea. Deciding to take a wild guess, you said aborrajado.
“Wrong” the woman said “Aborrajado is way too annoying to make. I don’t have enough time for that!”
You sighed “Didn’t think I’d be losing this early into the game, and yet here we are.”
You sighed in defeat and took the shot of tequila that stood in front of you. Grabbing it, you felt excitement and fear rush through you at the thought of what tonight could bring. Picking up the glass carefully, you said “Bottoms up” as you raised the glass towards the woman and brought it to your lips, swallowing the bitter liquid.
Your face made a disgusted expression due to the strong flavor of the drink.
“So bitter!” you said, your face filled with disgust as you stuck your tongue out.
Julieta couldn’t help but laugh at the sight. She thought you were so adorable, losing at your own game.
Your eyes started to get really watery as you felt the flavors of the drink trickle up your nose and into your brain.
Standing up, you looked at yourself and decided what to take off first. You had a white shirt that revealed your shoulders along with a light yellow skirt that went just below your ankles. You ultimately decided to take the skirt off because you weren’t going to let go of your pride.
Sliding the skirt down, you practically felt Julieta’s eyes bearing into your body, hungry for you but not hungry enough to do anything. Or should you say tipsy enough to do anything. You purposely let the skirt pool at your feet and you stepped out of it slowly and sat back down in your chair.
“My eyes are up here you know. At least try to make it obvious that you aren’t trying to look under the table.”
“I-I’m not trying anything. Just give me a question so we could continue this.”
Julieta shifted in her seat before she folded her hands and waited for the next question. You could sense the nervous excitement in her, it was so… exhilarating. You wanted to make her get the next question wrong, but you wanted to do it fair and square. Tapping your chin as you thought of another question, you looked over at the plants that hung from the ceiling and you realized how many there really were. This made you flashback to when the two of you first met. As if a lightbulb had gone off in your head, you thought of the perfect question that would cause her doom to be certain. You grinned mischievously and tucked a strand of hair behind your ear as you readied yourself to ask the question.
“You won’t get this one righ-”
“Yes I will” she cut you off.
“No you won’t.”
“We’ll see about that.”
Julieta had a face of determination and ambition. The woman’s eyebrows were furrowed and she mentally prepared herself for whatever question you were going to ask her.
“What was the first thing I ever said to you?” you asked. She froze. Her face of determination changed to one of uncertainty and panic.
“No” she said, putting a hand up “I know this one… I swear I do.”
“Do you really?” you asked as you crossed your arms.
“Ah!” the woman blurted out, signifying she knew the answer to your question.
“It was, and I quote ‘Hola Señorita, could you heal my finger? I think its broken’ you can’t tell me I’m wrong.”
“You’re wrong.”
“What? I could’ve sworn that was it!”
“The first thing I ever said to you was ‘Hola Señorita Julieta! You may not know me, but I think you look beautiful today’ I can’t believe you don’t remember!” you exclaimed, putting a hand over your heart as if you were hurt.
“I-I’m sorry for not remembering! It doesn’t make me love you any less!” the woman said, voice filled with worry as she stood up from her chair and leaned over the table as she ran her hands through her hair. She felt guilty as the memory of the event you had just described to her came back.
You smiled. “I’m only kidding Juli. Its okay, really.”
“It is?”
“Yeah… because now that means you have to take your clothes off.”
Her face of worry changed to one of a ‘really’ look as she rolled her eyes. She scoffed and shook her head as she looked down at the ground before looking back up at you.
“You’re terrible, you know that?” Julieta told you as she tried to hide her smile.
“Yeah” you shrugged, smiling “I get that a lot too.”
You then carefully pushed the filled shot glass to Julieta’s side of the table.
“Take this before you choose. It may help a little.”
“Yeah, yeah” she scoffed and took the shot with no hesitation. Her eye twitched a little as the flavor of the drink registered in her mouth, but other than that, it didn’t seem to affect her much. She wasn’t an alcohol drinker, but she had her fair share of experiences. She knew how to keep a straight face in serious situations. Especially when it involved your hand, her, and family dinner.
“Wha- How do you not have any reaction to that!”
“What can I say? I’ve had to deal with you and your hand on several occasions that include my family. If you get what I mean.”
A hard blush formed on your cheeks as you chuckled nervously.
“Yeah… sorry about that.”
“Are you really though?” she responded.
You could only laugh and chuckle in response “You know I’m not.”
Julieta tried to ignore what you said and she looked down at herself, trying to decide what to take off first. She then put her hands on her head and removed the clip that held her hair up, allowing her brown locks stained with more than a few white strands to fall past her shoulders.
“Wha- No that’s cheating!” you stood up in protest “I said clothes! Taking off a clip doesn’t count as taking clothes off!”
The woman only looked at you and shrugged.
“It does count though. I feel almost naked with my hair down.”
“Key word, almost. But fine, I’ll let you pass this once, you’re lucky I’m nice.”
Your girlfriend gasped “And what shall I ever do if you weren’t!” she put her hand over her mouth and raised her eyebrows to act as if she had any fear.
Getting up, she made her way over to you and walked behind you, placing her hands on your shoulders as she snaked her tiny hands on them. Coming close to you, she pressed her body up against yours and you felt every curve of her body on the back of yours. A hot sting in your face and abdomen formed simultaneously.
“Don’t forget this is my house cariño. I make the rules.”
You felt her hot breath on your neck and her lips move on your ear as she spoke. She then left a soft kiss on your jaw, just under your ear as she pulled away and kept eye contact with you until she sat down again. You were only left to watch as she began to leave you sexually frustrated.
“Now, where were we?”
“Y-your turn” you managed to say, sitting down in your chair. Your entire demeanor changed from one moment to the next. Now Julieta was being the bold one.
“Oh right..” she said, biting her lip as she scanned your features. Your cheeks were still tinted red and you slouched as your arms hung at your sides.
“My question for you now is…” she tapped her chin as she pondered on her next question for you.
You took this as an opportunity to examine the woman’s features. You two had only gone for a few rounds but from the looks of it, the alcohol had already begun to take effect. Or was it because she was still fully sober and was feeling bold? Whatever it was, it was interesting and kind of turned you on. Julieta’s cheeks were tinted pink, her eyes were half closed and her brown eyes were now glossy and kept looking for excuses to look under the table. Had one shot really given her this much courage? She started twiddling her thumbs as she licked her lips and noticed your gaze.
“I can see you’re staring at me you know” the woman batted her eyes innocently “What do you say we just forget about this and go do something more interesting?”
As she said this, she stood up and started walking over to you, almost falling in the process. After saving herself and telling you she was okay, she continued to walk around the table and towards you but her hip bumped it and she fell.
“Ay dios mio!” Julieta exclaimed as her head made contact with the cold, hard floor.
You stood up and kneeled down to your girlfriend “Oh my god mi amor are you okay?” you asked worriedly, cupping her face and using the other hand to rub her forehead that now matched the color of her cheeks.
You pretended not to notice when her eyes darted to your naked legs and your gray underwear that covered the thing she was longing for the entire week. Seriously, you kept her waiting a lot and it was annoying sometimes! She just felt bad asking so she just let it happen naturally.
The poor woman could only nod. She was embarrassed that you just watched her land face first into the ground. She usually isn’t the one to be accident prone. That was your job.
“Are you hurt?” you asked.
She shook her head “My forehead does a little. Can you kiss it to make it feel better?” she asked, seriously.
You were surprised she had no shame because she had literally just fallen in front of you. You were sure that if she was sober, her cheeks would be red from embarrassment, not from the alcohol she had been drinking.
You smiled and nodded “Sure my love. Just stand up for me” you told her, getting up from your kneeling position and putting your hand out for her to grab so she could get up.
Julieta grabbed your hand softly, her fingers wrapping around your hand gracefully and gripping it. You got yourself ready to pull her up when you looked at her face. There was a hint of mischief and naughtiness in it but when you noticed it was too late. She suddenly brought her other hand in and took ahold of your wrist, bringing you down with her. You should’ve known what she was going to do when she had those eyebrows raised and a smile that was hidden by her adorable pout.
A yelp showed your surprise when Julieta pulled you down and brought you on top of her.
You were now straddling her, her body now trapped under your legs and your arms placed beside her head, propping your body up. Your hair fell in front of your eyes and tickled Julieta’s neck. Thank god it was there because it helped cover your flustered face. You couldn’t forget that you were half naked on top of her, in the middle of the night, in somewhere that wasn’t her bedroom and that where you could get caught.
You didn’t know if it was the alcohol or you, but you brought your face down and kissed her. The kiss began soft, but soon started becoming sloppy as she grabbed you by the collar of your shirt and pulled you in even closer. She began sitting up as she kissed you, keeping you close enough so that she could do whatever she wanted. She then pulled away for a moment and gently pushed you off her until you were on your knees.
The woman bit her lip as she let go of your collar and watched the sight before her. There you kneeled, your hair down and all messy, in your underwear that slightly began to fall on one side, exposing your hip, and your thirsty face that begged her to absolutely ruin you. You watched her hungry eyes darting all over your body, wondering what kind of lewd thoughts crossed her mind.
She then came close to you and whispered the phrase that you were expecting but couldn’t be more excited to obey.
“Sit on the table and take your shirt off.”
You couldn’t help but still be shocked by this though. She was just so sweet and soft a second ago.
Listening to her, you quickly took your shirt off and threw it to the side. You made sure to throw it next to your skirt to show Julieta how much you had really taken off. From the look on her face, your trick had worked. You were now only left in your bra and underwear. Her eyes followed your every move until you sat on the table, your legs closed tightly because you felt so vulnerable. That’s the excuse you kept using anyway.
Julieta then walked up to you and placed her hands on both sides of your body. You sat there, frozen in place, as you held your legs closed, eyes down, and arms covering your exposed body. Her soft fingertips grazed your thighs and you shivered under her gentle touch. Her intentions were good but felt as if they were going to become aggressive at any moment. She brought herself close to your ear and her lips grazed them before she spoke. Her warm breath on your neck drove you insane and the way she pulled on the hem of your underwear made your legs tremble.
“You’re going to really enjoy this, darling.”
The second she said this, you found your heart beating so fast and a wave of fear washed over you. But it was the good kind of fear, the one that you wanted to feel. Then Julieta pulled away slightly as she looked you in the eyes. That gaze of hers wanted to destroy you so badly. The eye contact you made created tension so thick it could be cut with a knife and those big brown eyes that looked back at you were so out of it but were so sober at the same time. Had alcohol given her this much courage? If it did, then she should definitely drink it more often.
Her cheeks were rosy pink due to the effects of the alcohol and her thoughts. Her apron was half untied as well, the straps that tied it together falling off the side of her shoulder a bit. Her gorgeous hair framed her face perfectly, a few strands going over her eyes and cheeks which made her seem a lot more intimidating. And god did you like it.
You watched her eyes flick to your neck before she looked up at you one last time. She then slipped her fingers under the hem of your underwear as she kissed your neck. The sounds of her kisses filled the room and you turned your head away from her desperately, to allow yourself to enjoy the kisses she was giving you, but also because you knew what she was going to say next.
“These right here” she pulled at your underwear again “I want them off.”
You turned to look at her once more before she got down on her knees. Your legs were still closed and you were scared to open them because you knew what would be waiting for you when you did. You felt really damp down there, and you didn’t want her seeing it. Especially since she was drunk, she had no filter and you knew she wasn’t going to stop, and neither were you.
“Julieta… I think that we should uh- maybe not get too ahead of ourselves” you said, nervously.
You wanted this, but you were in the middle of a kitchen and you weren’t about to fuck your girlfriend on a dining table, that just wasn’t going to work and it was too weird anyway. You guys could get caught!
The woman respected your wishes in her drunken state but that didn’t stop her completely. She pulled your underwear down a little and you shivered at the exposure to the cold air and she kissed your exposed hip. Her lips were so soft, they felt like a baby’s. Her hands were soft as well and small so the way that they gripped your knees and pulled your legs open surprised you.
“Relax mi vida, I’m only going to tease you a little” the woman whispered, voice filled with mischief.
You used your hands to hold yourself up as Julieta held your legs open with her hands. She gently caressed your knees with her thumb as she got closer and closer to your crotch. The closer she got to you, the more nervous and aroused you became. You bit your lip when you felt her hot breath on your inner thigh. She then came even closer and left a soft kiss on it, taking agonizingly long to pull away because she knew how it would get you. She pulled away for a moment, but only to go to another spot on your leg to kiss. This time, she was even closer to your crotch, her lips brushing over where your underwear covered the thing that would bring you the utmost pleasure but absolutely ruin you. By this point, you were blushing so hard and breathing so loud that you could probably be heard from outside the kitchen. Your heart was beating so fast and you let out irregular breaths and tried your best not to whimper at all. The only thing you could do was stare at the family tree that stood in front of you as Julieta did this. A terrible choice sure, but you had to look at something other than her if you didn’t wanna finish the job before she did.
She pulled away and stood up, her gaze piercing through your soul. She grabbed your hand gently and kissed the inside of your palm as she placed your hand on her cheek to cup. She smiled at you innocently, biting her lip as she dragged her finger down your arm before giving you yet another command.
“No need to be nervous. Lay down for me, mi amor.”
Without hesitation, you laid down and obliged to Julieta’s wishes. When your back made contact with the cold wooden table, you got chills and shivered a little. Goosebumps formed all along your arms and legs simultaneously. The way your heart beat in your chest in that very moment had never and will never be matched again and the mix of fear and excitement you felt was so beyond anything you had ever dreamed of. The image of the cream colored ceiling was blocked from your view when Julieta face popped into view as she made herself comfortable by sitting on you, straddling your body between her legs. She sat on top of you, her thighs closing in on your body. You felt your face heating up in embarrassment because you allowed yourself to get into this position without a fight. But truthfully, you didn’t want to fight at all.
Julieta then tucked a stray hair away from your face as she studied your features. That focused look on her face really had you thinking if she was still somewhat sober. The way her brown eyes studied you was with such curiosity and wonder as they quickly flicked from each of the features on your face. She squinted slightly and the wrinkles around her eyes began to show and her gray hair glimmered in the candle lit room as it fell past her shoulders because she was looking down at you. She cocked an eyebrow, her head turning slightly as she held a small smirk. Her face was littered with tiny freckles and her cheeks were so pink, you almost didn’t notice the way her entire demeanor changed yet again as she studied you. Her lips looked so soft and pink, you would move mountains and start a war if it meant you could kiss them again. They were so perfectly framed and plump, almost as if they were shaped like a heart.
“Ay Y/N, you know you’re the only one that can get me like this you know.”
Her soft voice echoed in your ears and you felt such a strong sense of euphoria wash over you. All you could think about was her and how much you really treasured her. You continued studying her as well, watching anyplace her hands went as well as where those brown eyes darted to. The woman’s shiny earrings pulled you out of your trance because they gleamed as she leaned down to kiss you.
You closed your eyes as your lips met hers and it felt like fireworks. They were so incredibly soft and it felt like you were kissing the fluffiest pillow. She tasted like sweet honey and she swiftly brought her hand up to caress your cheek gently. You kissed her back right away untied her apron with total ease. The woman then took it off and tossed it to the free space above your head.
You placed your hands on her face, bringing her even closer as you felt your hands sink into her cheeks like they were balls of cotton. Her scent was so intoxicating, the sweet aroma of vanilla filling your nose, making you relax instantly.
You felt her smile into the kiss as she grabbed your hands and placed them both on her hips as you two continued to kiss.
“What’s up with you today?” you jokingly asked as you smiled at the woman.
“Nothing…. just feeling a little extra needy today….Something wrong with that?” the woman responded flirtatiously, pausing to talk between each kiss.
“What’s making you so excited then? Is it the alcohol?”
All the woman could do was nod as she pulled away and started kissing your neck.
“You know it is.”
You smiled smugly “Well then maybe you should drink more often” you say.
After your statement you feel a light bite on your collarbone, making you yelp.
“Not happening” she says.
“Please?!?!?!” you ask “You don’t have to think before you act when you’re this way… it’s so free!” you argue.
“I’ll consider it…” she starts “just let me have my way with you for a little.”
“Sure…” you say “And what would you consider that to be?” you ask curiously, playing with the hem of her shirt.
“Let’s finish this” Julieta says as she grabs something from behind your head and waves it in front of you. It’s the bottle of tequila. And it’s only half empty.
Your eyes light up as you sit up and you now have the woman on your lap.
“Really?!?!” you ask, shocked.
“Mhm. Go big or go home right?”
“Wow! Where did my sweet Julieta go?” you ask “You’re such a rebel.”
The woman only scoffs and smirks as she pours a glass of the drink for the both of you. It took a whole 2 hours of talking about people in town, to responsibilities, to the future, to finish half of the 25 ounce bottle. By the end of this, the both of you were totally buzzed, sharing one last sloppy kiss before you laid back down on the table. Julieta joined you, finding a comfortable spot on your chest and “resting” her head there. Her organized hair was now messy and her stray hair tickled your chin as she slipped her hand in yours and interlocked fingers with you. Her head felt like a soft, light cloud resting on your chest and her breathing became calmer and calmer by the minute.
Like you, her eyes were half open and your words became more scattered as well as your movements. Your eyelids began to feel heavy as the way you stroked her soft hand slowed down, your bodies starting to shut down for the night. You two had matching red faces and hickeys all over your necks, leaving those worries for your future selves. As the night crept up on you both you had one last conversation until the night melted all of your worries away.
“Juli?” you asked.
“…Yes Y/N?” the woman says, barely mustering a response.
“You think it’s okay that we did all this?”
“Did… what?” she shakes her head, trying her best not to fall asleep right there.
“You know” you start “Do a whole drinking game and almost have sex in your kitchen?”
She shrugs “Whatever. I’m too drunk right now to worry anyway.”
“Honestly… you’re right…” you tell her as you bring her hand to your lips and softly kiss her knuckles that were battered from years of work. Their roughness gave you a sense of how much she really needed to do this. To just let loose.
“Was this….what…. one shot really did to us?” the woman asks, her eyes now closed as she buried her face into your neck.
“Yeah…” you respond “Maybe we shouldn’t drink for a while.”
“Yeah… until next time” she says.
“Yeah…. until next time” you repeat.
“Juli?” you say again.
“Yes Y/N?”
“Do you remember who won the alcohol game we played earlier?”
“Mmmm no one… we both lost.”
“Oh okay..” you respond.
“Juli?” you ask for the last time.
“Yes Y/N? What is it now?” the poor woman was practically asleep at this point.
“I love you” you say.
“I love you more mi vida” Julieta says, concluding her statement by giving you a small kiss on your jaw.
When she knew you had no further questions, the worn out woman allowed herself to drift away into dreamland. Soon after, you heard the soft snores of your love on your chest as her breathing synchronized with yours. She was your ultimate treasure, a shining diamond in a sea of rocks. Her long eyelashes tickled her rosy cheeks as she slept with a content smile on her face. The way she was curled against you was the sweetest sight you could ever imagine. Sensing that the room was a little cold, you grabbed her apron and covered her with it, tucking it under her neck and making sure it covered her body. Although you were the almost naked one here, you felt warm because of her. The sight of her alone made you feel all fuzzy inside. You tucked her hair behind her ear once more before you closed your eyes and smiled at the thought of what another day with Julieta Madrigal might bring.
Her family was going to wake up to something interesting tomorrow morning, and god did you two have a lot of explaining to do. From the “one shot” game to the hangovers, were you guys even gonna remember anything?
‘Only one way to find out. And that was to wait until tomorrow’ you thought, finally allowing yourself to doze off, only to dream of the amazing woman that had made reality better then your dreams could ever be.

This is my first attempt to writing a juli x reader story so hopefully you guys like this one!!
Tumblr media
When you were younger, you always imagined having a life where you’d meet some guy within the Encanto who’d love and treasure you. Then after the woo-ing stage, you’d both fall madly in love then he’d marry you and have two kids, maybe even three where they’d be the bestest of friends and just live happily ever after. You genuinely thought everyone was going to have that kind of lifestyle, as if it was a blueprint that everyone has to go through. Sadly though, life isn’t as fair as you thought when you met him.
It felt like yesterday when you saw Miguel, your once beloved, for the first time across the town square as he builds wooden furniture for the Encanto. It was love at first sight as cheesy as it sounds, he even almost hammered this thumb instead of the nail at how out-of-it he was when he first saw you. He would accompany you to the town square to buy new books to add into your collection, and dance the night away with you during the Madrigal’s famous parties they’d throw from time to time at the Casita. The bond you two formed had grown so strong and beautiful that you were engaged after a few months of dating, and everyone in the town were rooting for the both of you. Until one day, some people started to notice your change.
“Y/N? Sweetheart you okay?” Señorita Guzman asks worriedly as she sees you jump in shock from the sudden attention of the older woman. You turn around to meet her worried eyes, smiling softly as you rub the back of your neck shyly at being caught.
“Hola, Señora my apologies” you shyly say as you hold onto the book you were reading. You’re currently in a darling little bookshop she opened a few months prior and you’ve been going to it ever since. “I did have intentions of buying it, just wanted to see the first page-“
“Mija please it’s alrigh-“ she cuts you off with a chuckle as she places her hand on your shoulder in a comforting way, but looks at you worriedly–albeit strangely as well, as you flinch a little. “Y/N? Are y-“
“My apologies, Señora” you cut her off as you reach into your pocket to grab your wallet, pulling out a few bills and handing it to her. “This should cover the book, muchas gracias!”
You leave before she could say anything, your heart hammering against your chest as you try to calm down. She didn’t find out, which is the best outcome from that exchange so you shouldn’t be worried from her ever finding out.. right?
You genuinely thought that way for a while, you tried to hide and cover up the fights you and Miguel have been having the moment you started living with him. He was a gentle and sweet lover, but changed when you started out as newly weds. He thought it would be a good idea to give have you live with him so you wouldn’t have to worry about buying a new home, save on expenses and such was his explanation. You thought yea why not? But apparently you were completely wrong as it was became hell really quick because of the abuse that started to occur on a daily basis.
It started out as small as shouting whenever you’d forget to buy his beer or misplacing his sombrero where you’d jump from the tone of his voice, before escalating to slamming his hand or fist onto the table or wall when he gets frustrated from work or from your short comings. You knew better, of course. You knew somewhere in your mind, the more rational side of your brain, that you should have run away as far as you could and away from the man. Sadly, you’re the kind of person who’d think with your heart so as a result, you ended up staying.
Tumblr media
“Y/N! Tu hijo de puta (you son of a bitch), where did you put my hammer?” You hear him yell out from his workshop, tensing up the moment you hear the slamming of the shed door and his heavy boots walking up to the back of the house which leads to the kitchen.
You were cooking up some lunch for the both of you before he went to the shed to work on some furniture for a family before he started to yell. You were about to make a run for it honestly. Though sadly you were too late the moment his big and strong hands, the same hands you initially fell in love watching craft beautiful chairs with, grab onto your already bruised arm to turn you around to meet his eyes filled with burning rage. You knew in this moment how screwed you are, regardless how innocent you are.
“So? Where is it?” He asks with a raise of an eyebrow as you struggle to speak up from fear. “Come on, answer me!”
“I-I have n-n-no idea what you’re ta-talking about” you wince at how badly you’re stuttering, but whimper in pain as he starts to grip harder onto the bruise on your arm. “Miguel that really hurts! Please let go!”
“I really need my hammer sweetheart so I could have a livelihood, we gotta keep up with our expenses you know” he says, blatantly ignoring you as he sighs in frustration. “Come on, use your estúpido (stupid) little brain”
“Miguel I really-“ you gasp out in agonizing pain as he grips farther, his years of woodwork really shining through as the pain jolts through your entire being.
He let go, shoving your arm away from him but the sheer force of his throw caused you to fall down to the ground as you wince in pain from the fall. He started to go on and on about how stupid it is that his life went to shit the moment you moved in with him, how his stuff started to get misplaced because of it and how its making his life so hard. It all happened while you sat there, silently crying and praying that this would all end
You knew you should have left the moment the red flags started to wave but you were in love, thought that maybe its just a rough patch and he’d be back to his normal and loving self again. Sadly, it never happened and you only managed to escape his wrath when a neighbor of yours came forward to Abuela Alma. She heard what was happening after a rather nasty fall out and told the town elder everything.
After telling her what she heard, and how she would have mentioned something earlier but couldn’t because she was worried about being involved and the possibility of it being a normal lovers quarrel. The older woman basically marched down to your shared home with her children who confronted the man and threatened him to leave or else he’d suffer great consequences. He was banished from the Encanto and you finally escaped his wrath, free from the abuse and all.
The Madrigals were your heroes, but what really struck you was the oldest triplet who’d heal your physical and unexpectedly emotional wounds in the process. With everything that happened, they offered you a room to stay for the mean time as you had to sell your place for the marriage. Knowing you really didn’t have a choice or else you’d be homeless, you took the offer and have been staying with them ever since.
Tumblr media
It’s been a few months since your half a year relationship with Miguel and you’re slowly healing. You started to become your old self again, which is great because things started to finally fall into place for you and the healer. It started off really sweet actually because she’d let you accompany her at the stall in town square, you acted as her nurse as she healed the people in line. You’d read her your books sometimes whenever she’s busy cooking up a storm in the kitchen, the both of you developed a tight bond because of it. As time pass, you got to truly get to know the woman as Julieta and not the town’s healer.
You’re currently reading your book while sitting on the grass, your back against the tree that gives you a shade during the summer heat. You found this secluded little spot a few weeks ago while you were playing with the kids of the town and you just decided to make it your spot for the time being if you wanted some peace and quiet from the Casita.
Though you do love staying with the Madrigal family –they’re the nicest people you’ve ever met– but you’ve been secretly saving up in case you’ve overstayed your welcome. If you told your past self of your predicament, you’d have moved out by the 2 months mark and restart your life, maybe even leave the Encanto as a whole. But unexpectedly, there’s this invisible pull that’s making you stay where you are, it almost feels like its just right for you to stay with them, with Julieta.
Now you may be wondering, you and Julieta? Well you never asked for it. You knew deep in your heart, you have feelings for the woman but you were scared of the idea of letting your heart run free once again as it didn’t end well the last time. You were honestly lost with what you’re feeling with Julieta, is this love or deep rooted friendship? Whenever you two would hang out and your hands would accidentally touch, is that sparks or the nerves? You truly don’t know what’s going on with you, you never felt this way before and you couldn’t help but feel like you’re navigating your feelings blindly, as if you’ve been succumb to darkness of trauma and fears.
You sigh in defeat as you realized you’ve been reading the same sentence over and over again as your mind runs free once more. Giving up, you place the book down to your lap as you lean your head back against the wood bark, enjoying the cool summer breeze while you let your mind wander. What you didn’t expect was for the woman who plagues your thoughts to materialize nearby.
Julieta knew of the existence of your spot as she spotted you here once before since it’s hers also ever since as a child. She just never mentioned anything as she knew you needed it more than she could. She knew the moment you both met after saving you from Miguel that there was an invisible pull between the both of you. You trusted her first before the other Madrigals, hell even Alma thought that it was best for Julieta to stick by you in case something goes wrong and the others aren’t around. It caused the both of you to hang out either to help Julieta make her daily healing food needs or simply stay in each other’s presence while she cooks and you read your books. She remembered the one time it was one of those days where she was cooking and you were reading that made her realize she was in trouble.
Tumblr media
You’re 100000% totally engrossed into your book, like an earthquake couldn’t get your attention at this point and Julieta thought it was the funniest thing ever. She only noticed this when she dropped her rolling pin onto the floor causing a loud bang that made her and even the Casita jump, but you’re just sitting there with the biggest doe eyes she’s seen you in.
She chuckles softly as she picks up the rolling pin, gently placing it on the counter as she mutters a soft apology to the house, placing elbow onto the counter as she rests her chin onto the palm of her hand so she could watch you and see if she could gain your attention. It was the first time she ever paused and truly look at you from the month or so since they saved you, and boy did she wish she either did this sooner or not at all.
You’re absolutely gorgeous, you could have gotten anyone in the Encanto yet you fell for the sad excuse of a man. You’re currently wearing your normal gray dress thats just below your knees, and ankle-height heeled boots that seems to make your legs look longer than it already has. You normally wear black stockings to match but today you decided to forgo it– probably because you wrecked your favorite ones and in need to buy more– and she couldn’t help but trail her eyes up and down your silky smooth legs. What truly got her attention however was your glasses. Now Julieta’s not normally a simp but she’d kill to see you wear your reading glasses as a normal pair of glasses. Your black-round frames accentuates your already natural beauty, making you look so sweet and innocent with the doe eyes you’re holding while reading your newest romance book.
Unconsciously, Julieta sighs dreamily as a smile graces her features. A strand of hair falls onto your face, you absentmindedly tuck it behind your ear without missing a beat and Julieta’s heart just stops in that moment. While she had her fair share of suitors lining up by her door, it was not as much as Pepa who’s truly the one with the largest line–something you’d tease her with by saying she’s the biggest playboy in the Encanto– but she never felt this way before, especially considering you’re a girl.
Now don’t get her wrong, Julieta has had a fling or two with a girl since she wanted to experiment with the idea but it never went as far as a peck on the lips. Her priority had always been to the Encanto, just like her siblings, but there are days where she’d wish to be in a relationship. She’d always watch other girls being really happy with their boyfriends, hell even Pepa and Felix made her really jealous of their relationship at some point at how they’re made for each other. Yet here she is, ogling over a woman she never thought she’d have feelings for.
Before Julieta could do anything else, you suddenly placed your book down with a dreamy sigh making the older woman jump and quickly kneed away at the ball of dough she abandoned moments prior. She clears her throat slightly before speaking up. “Done with your book?”
“Yea” you say happily as you place both of your elbows on top of the book with your chin resting at the palm of your hands. “It’s really good, you can borrow it if you want!”
She chuckles softly at the enthusiasm, ignoring how her heart just skipped a beat when she caught the childish grin you’re currently holding onto. “Maybe one day, you know how busy I get, but when I get the time”
“Really??” You grin happily at the idea, giggling as you already start making a list of books to let Julieta read. While you go on and on about how she should read this certain book because it reminds you of her love for cooking or how that book made you think that she’d really like the premise of it, Julieta’s just watching you with a fond smile before jumping at Casita’s moving tiles as the magical house gained the attention of the magical healer before her arepas started to burn. She knew in that moment that maybe what she’s feeling was something more than friendship, and a sudden weight of dread covers her entire being as she thinks how absolutely screwed she is.
Tumblr media
She smiles softly at the memory as she decides its time to get your attention. She walks up to you, sitting down besides you as you watch her do so. “Hello Y/N”
“Juli” you says softly as you adjust yourself to sit upright. “Done for today?”
“Not so much people today thankfully, so I decided to pass by here before heading home” she says as she watches the ducks in the pond nearby swimming away. “Didn’t know you found this place”
“Yea I just saw it by chance because my hat flew over the bushes. Decided to go take a look and saw this place” you say as you recall the memory, chuckling softly at how amazed you were to see the existence of this small garden basically just hiding away. “It’s absolutely gorgeous, you know”
Julieta hums in agreement as the both of you watch the mother duck bathes her ducklings in the pond who are happily swimming away. The both of you fall into a calm and peaceful silence, just enjoying each other’s company without saying a word. It was honestly the most calm you’ve felt since dating Miguel, the racing thoughts in your mind coming to a stop as you just enjoy the moment.
You couldn’t help but yawn, raising your arms to stretch before resting your head onto Julieta’s shoulder as she gently takes your hand in hers as she rubs the pad of her thumb against your knuckles.
“Take a nap” she says softly as she briefly looks at you. “I’ll be here, we have time”
“You sure?” You mumble sleepily as you start to drift off causing the older woman to chuckle softly.
“I’m sure, now rest” she mumbles as she leans forward to gently take off the sunhat you have on, placing it on her lap and tucks a stray piece of hair that fell over your eyes behind your ear as you doze off.
Now Julieta never labels herself as a creep, but she honestly felt it the moment she realized she started to stare at your sleeping face all lovey-dovey. She sighs softly as she rests her head onto the top of your head, allowing to indulge herself in the moment. She’d try to move on from you one day, but for now though she’ll enjoy this experience as the closest she could get to being “yours”.
Tumblr media
“Pepa, stop it” you narrow your eyes at the cheeky redhead as you accompany her to her chores this morning.
Of all the Madrigal triplets, you became really close with Pepa and see her as your best friend. The cheeky redhead knew since day 1 of your crush for her sister but knew any better to mention it until you were ready, which was right now.
“Come on Y/N! You’re finally admitting your feelings for Juli, isn’t it great? You’re finally moving on from you know who!” She says as she walks to the farms with you so she could check if there’s anything needed for a bit. You chuckle softly at her enthusiasm as you shrug in response.
“I still don’t know honestly, feels too early for me” you admit as you finally reach the fields where Pepa sits down on the grass where you sit directly in front of her. Luckily for the both of you, it seems like the farmers are doing alright with their crops so you wouldn’t be needed for the time being.
“There’s no general time frame on moving on you know” Pepa points out with a shrugs as she picks up some daisies to make into a flower crown. “Besides, you like my sister right?”
Your eyes widen at that observation as your jaw drops, which answers the redhead’s suspicions from the start. “P-Pepa!”
“So you admit it?” She asks you with a slight raise of an eyebrow and a quirk at the end of her lips in amusement. “It’s okay, honestly you two are so obvious”
“She’s just being friendly” you start as you stare off at the distance and watch some kids, 2 girls and a boy, playing together. “Just like the rest of the family”
“You know it’s different” Pepa follows your gaze, watching the three kids well as they play. The two girls are acting really sweet together while the boy’s just having the time of his life playing with his best friends. You smile softly at the sight in front of you, especially with how one of the girls removes her shawl to place at the ground so the other girl’s shoes doesn’t get dirty.
After a few moments of silence, Pepa finally breaks it by finishing up her daisy flower crown with a soft smile. “There’s a party being thrown this weekend, Mamá plans to introduce Juli to the Rojas’ son”
You quickly look at Pepa as she reveals the new source of information.
It’s not a surprise that the triplets are being introduced to suitors whenever there’s a party being hosted at the Casita, but you didn’t expect for it to be Agustin Rojas of all people. You knew of the man of course, he was your neighbor before marring Miguel. You two would talk from time to time so you knew he actually has a crush on the eldest triplet but never truly acted on it. While you’re proud of him for finally getting his shit together, you’d wish it’s not when you’re slowly realizing your feelings for the same person.
“I won’t tell you what to so” Pepa starts as she scoots closer to you, replacing your sun hat with the flower crown she just made and smiles. “I just wanted to tell you so you know whether or not to make a move but follow your heart, okay? No one deserved what happened but what you do deserve is genuine love”
Tumblr media
The weekend of the party finally comes and chaotic doesn’t even begin to describe what’s going on at the Casita. Everyone in the family and some others are helping setting everything up and with the Madrigal’s reputation with parties, you know this will be a really good one.. okay maybe except for the fact that Julieta’s being introduced to Agustin.
You sigh in defeat as you walk to Bruno’s room as you were tasked to help Bruno out with some decorations. He told you to meet him at his room instead of his other room within the walls of the magical home, which is a shock since he prefers that area than his actual room. Upon arriving, you raised your fist to knock but the door wings open to reveal the youngest triplet.
“Y/N/N! Perfect timing!” He says as he pulls you in the room causing you to squeak out in shock while he closes the door behind you.
“Bruno! Don’t scare me like that!” You scold the man as you walk further into the room. “Where’s the decorations?”
“In my other room” he nonchalantly says as he leads you to a secret shortcut that would lead to the sand cave.
“Then why are we here? Gonna kidnap me never to be seen again?” You tease as he laughs at your joke, but follow him regardless.
“If I did want that, I would have done that sooner” he starts as he chuckles, opening a door for you to walk in. “But no the reason I called you here is because Pepa asked me to give you a vision”
“A vision?” You ask him as you walk in to see the sand cave. Your eyes widen in shock as you slowly turn to face the man as he proceeds to get ready for the ritual. “Oh Brunito you don’t have t-“
“Y/N/N” he starts as he stops what he was doing so he could look up at you, motioning for you to sit across him on the sand. You could never say no to the youngest triplet so you sigh and follow his motions. “You have to trust me on this one. While yes Peps asked me to do so, I’ve been wanting to do it too”
“Why?” You couldn’t help but ask to which he just gives you a smile and a shrug in response.
“I think I want another sister who deserves a good life with the person they love, that’s all”
Tumblr media
The party finally starts and boy was it truly the party of the century. Everyone’s having the time of their life with all the free-flowing drinks and the delicious food Julieta prepared for the party. The music playing by the local band filling the Casita with the perfect dancing ambiance that could make the whole town dance the night away. From afar you could see Julieta refilling the food and drinks station with the help of Bruno while Pepa and Felix are just dancing it out at the dance floor.
You decided to dress up a bit considering the occasion so you’re currently wearing a blue sun dress with a sweetheart neckline and a strap that’s tied at the back of your neck. The dress’ sits just barely by your knees and you’re wearing a nice pair of block heels, perfect for dancing the night away if you wished. Your hair curled and pinned up and makeup done lightly but still accentuates your natural beauty. Before you could make it further into the magical house, Pepa squeals from afar as she quickly runs to you causing the youngest of the siblings to look at you with his jaw dropped to the floor.
“You look amazing!!” Pepa says with a wide grin as she twirls you around causing you to giggle at the motion. “I knew that dress would look amazing on you!”
“Thank you Peps” you chuckle as you give her a little bow that caused the both of you to smile happily at each other. Pepa bought the dress for you and left it on top of your bed with a note saying to wear it for the party tonight and honestly, you’re not regretting it so far. “Have you seen Bruno?”
“Wow Y/N” he says as he walks up to you. “You look amazing”
“Why thank you” you chuckle softly and smile at him. “You look amazing as usual
He rolls his eyes fondly as he poses for you. “Why this is my finest ruana after all, gotta dress for the occasion right?”
The three of you laugh at the teasing, enjoying the company of one another. Suddenly, Pepa leans in closer to the three of you with a mischievous look. “Don’t look now but you have everyone’s attention Y/N/N, all their eyes are on the town’s bookworm”
Lo and behold, the second triplet is a right because almost all of the bachelors are looking at you with their full attention causing you to suddenly becoming shy at the stares. You blush furiously as you clear your throat as the other two chuckles. “This is embarrassing”
“Don’t be” Bruno says with a smile. “You’re gorgeous, and you should look for Juli because Mamá pulled her away just moments before you came”
As if right on cue, the three of you hear a change in song to something a little slower where Agustin takes Julieta’s hand and lead her onto the dance floor. Now while yes you have finally admitted your feelings for the older woman, you would never admit that you’re the jealous kind.
While the 2 out of the 3 siblings hypes you up, you take a silent deep breath as you walk up to Julieta and Agustin. As you reach them, Agustin has told Julieta a joke that made her laugh and smile at the younger man. You internally wince a little at that, praying to whichever God is watching to be on your side tonight or this would 10000% ruin your friendship without a problem.
You clear your throat as you gently tap Agustin’s free shoulder, causing the two to look over at you as you look back with a smile. “Hi sorry to interrupt but, May I?”
Before Agustin could say no, Julieta pulls back from the man and gives him a smile. “We can dance later Gus, I have something to talk to Y/N about anyway”
He sighs softly as he nods, letting the two of you have some alone time. You smile gratefully at Julieta as you offer your hand. “Thank you, I didn’t want to wait any longer”
“It’s alright” Julieta starts as she takes your hand, placing her other hand on your shoulder as you place your other hand on her waist. The music changes to the instrumentals to ‘Until I Found You’ by Stephen Sanchez, which was the song you asked the band to play before you walked up to the preciously dancing pair. “What did you wanna talk about?”
You start to sway the both of you to the beat of the music as you channel all the internal courage you could muster up. “About us, actually”
That gained the complete attention of the older healer, who looks at you curiously. “Oh really?”
You nod in response as you give her a soft smile. “Yea, you’ve been really good to me these past few months, actually your entire family. I wanted to say thank you”
Her heart warms up a little at the confession as she gives you a kind smile. Well honestly speaking, she believed her heart skipping a beat was not because of the confession but at how amazing you are at the waltz because it’s actively making her swoon for you. “Oh Y/N/N-“
“But that’s not all” you start as you take a deep breath, twirling her a little and gently pulling her back to you causing her hand to fall onto your chest as you continue to waltz.
“I know that you know about my past relationship, how it broke me down into someone who truly believed they couldn’t have anything good romantically in their life. I remember being really lost, not knowing what to do when Miguel was forced to leave because all I knew about love was him but you came into the picture” you admit softly as the song in the background reaches its climax, to which the band starts to sing the chorus.
“Your presence became the light at the end of the tunnel for me and while I’m still not sure how it would go, I’d like to let you know that I really like you Juli. I never thought I’d be capable in falling in love, until I met you” this made Julieta’s heart burst with happiness as tears start to well up in her eyes, a smile quickly forming on her lips.
“You really thought so?” She asks as you nod in response with a smile.
“Yea, your siblings gave me the push I needed to confess to you and while I’m still not sure you feel the same way, I just thought-“ before you could finish your spiel, Julieta cuts you off by leaning in and pressing her lips against yours causing fireworks to set off for the both of you.
You melt into the kiss, kissing her back as you gently cup her cheek while affectionately caressing her cheek with the pad of your thumb. When air finally becomes a problem, you pull back and happy grins form on both of your faces.
“I want to give us a shot, I never thought I’d fall for someone as much as I do for you” Julieta confesses quietly as she rests her head on your shoulder as you wrap your arms around her waist, continuing the swaying to the beat of the music.
“Yea, let’s give it a shot”
Tumblr media
BONUS SCENE!
A wave of peace flows between the both of you before Julieta pulls back a bit to look at you with an amused look. “What?”
“What made you decide to confess?” She asks curiously causing you to blush furiously. “Oh my gosh did my siblings put you up to this?”
“Pepa kept bugging me about it, told me about you and Agustin and Bruno gave me a vision which ended to us dancing a few hours ago so I decided to give it a shot” you mumble bashfully as you look anywhere but her as she smirks at your shyness.
“So peer pressure made you decide to confess? Even though I was dropping hints left and right?” She teases you causing you to gasp at the sudden cheekiness of your newest love interest, blushing even more as she chuckles. “It’s alright, we can thank them later”
“I think they know already” you say as you point at the two siblings who are basically bullying the hell out of each other, hitting and shaking each other violently that would make any outsider worry. Luckily for you, you’re not an outsider so you know this is a daily occurrence for the siblings.
Julieta sighs in defeat as she pulls back, albeit reluctantly, from your arms. “oh Dios mío voy a morir temprano por ellos (oh my god i'm gonna die early because of them)”
You chuckle at the poor healer as you gently give her a soft peck on the cheek as she look at you in shock, but her blushing says otherwise. “You’re still gonna love them regardless because I think they saw what happened and are very happy for us, I could tell based on how Pepa’s very close at flipping the table in front of her”

Hi there 👋🏽 I was wondering if I could request some headcanons for class 1A & a reader who’s izuku’s twin sibling who goes to a different school and has a power like Julieta Madrigal’s (where they can heal you with the food they cook) maybe they prefer to call their quirk a gift?
Masterlist MHA Masterlist
1A X Midoriya! Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• First of all, no one knew at first that Deku had a sister except Bakugou, obviously
• They all found out after the Sports festival. Afterwards, when the students were the only ones really left at the school, they saw Deku meeting with a mint haired girl off to the side. She handed a small pastry that he gobbled right up.
• They asked Bakugo as he passed to leave. He just said "That's Deku's sister, Y/N." Like it was obvious. She passed a pastry to Bakugo as he passed and he took it with no complaint. He nibbled on it as he left.
• What really blew their minds was that Deku took off his arm braces and was completely healed. Before anyone could ask, they began to walk away.
• It wasn't until the next school day that they could ask any questions.
Y/N Midoriya: Twin sister to Izuku
Hair: Mint shade & Wavy
Eyes: Hazel/ Bright Amber
Quirk: Can heal Many levels of injury with her cooking.
• Prefers baking but can cook great (Maybe even better than Bakugou.)
• Can factor in different levels of healing into whatever it is she cooks, even have no healing built in.
• Was thought to be quirkless until she wanted to make some strawberry brownies for Izuku after he had a run in with some bullies again. He was healed within moments of the first bite.
• Doesn't go to hero school but is working towards a medical degree.
• You started very young referring to your quirk as a gift. Most peoples quirks were either just inconvenient things or were just there or ones that could be considered heroic quirks. There were fewer people that had healing type quirks so you thought of it more of a gift since you could help people in a calmer, safer way that still held up to the Hero's.
After they meet you:
• After your presence is made known, Aizawa did have to have a meeting with your mother because you couldn't always be healing Izuku and no matter how much you didn't like it, you understood. Especially after you met with Recovery Girl.
• The class LOVED you and it wasn't too long before you were an honorary member of Class 1A. You were similar in a way to Izuku. You were adorable and sweet and fiery to a fault. You were a bit more confident then Izuku as well as being less over the top.
• What surprised everyone the most was that Bakugo was more open to you. He was still his normal standoffish self but he didn't go off on you like he did Deku
• The class also became very protective of you. If there was any threat that they found out near you, they had either Izuku or Bakugou to call you to make sure you're okay.
• And heaven help the person that did hurt you. If your brother didn't get to them first, they had no chance of escaping the rest.
• Izuku always made sure you got to your own school before heading to UA. That became harder when he had to move into the dorms but you were given permission to visit by Aizawa (he hoped it would help keep Izuku in check.)
• Speaking of Aizawa became fond of you too, not that he was going to mention it. He would do anything for you that he would do for his class.
• All Might even was fond of you. After his retirement, you would make him batches of different things that helped with his condition and the pain from it.
• Like we said, you were loved by the class.
• Sato and you would bake together. He would teach you new recipes and vice versa.
• Uraraka and you were fast friends. You were also very appreciative of her for being friends with Izuku. After you found out what over use of her quirk does to you, you made some candies to help with nausea.
• Kaminari, Sero, Todoroki, and Sero knew they could come to you for anything. Like help with homework and studying , if they need someone to talk to, anything really.
• All the guys made sure that Mineta didn't bother you. It took everyone to hold Izuku AND Bakugou back when he tried something the first time.
• You were friends with everyone in the class but the ones you became closest with outside the two boys was Kami and Ojiro. The three of you have their weird but perfect balance between you. Kami was drawn to you at first because he's Kaminari, come on. He's a flirt but when you showed genuine interest in him and genuine concern when he short-circuited, he let him be himself with you.
• And Ojiro, how could you not like him. He's so sweet and you two just clicked. Like two peas in a pod. To be honest, the overall exciting energy the class gives off is overwhelming to you. Ojiro's calm disposition is welcoming to you. You both work hard for your goals and support each other through hard times. (Not to mention the small crush you have on the man that Izuku definitely doesn't tease you about incessantly.)

The second wip of the Reincarnation AU series; Isabela’s death.
Featuring another sketch at the end.
Time skip of fourteen years. What happened between Mirabel and Isabela’s deaths? You’ll never know.
Comments are always appreciated.
Warning, sensitive topics below: murder and character death.
~~~~~~
So Much Hides Behind My Smile
“Knock, knock? Mi flor? Are you in there?” Someone asks, opening the door.
Isabela is sat at her vanity, carefully taking out the flowers she’d woven into her hair that morning. From the mirror’s reflection, she can see Milagro stood in the doorway, her family going about minding their own business just behind.
It had been a busy day, of course. Her perfect, albeit long awaited, wedding.
“Of course, mi vida. Did you need something?”
“I just came to see you,” he answered, shutting the door behind him. He laughed, walking over to her, just about to set a hand on her shoulder. “Well, it’s been a long day but we’ve finally made it to the wedding night—”
“Get the fuck out of my room.” Isabela snarls.
Milagro blanks for a minute. “Um… where else am I meant to sleep?”
“I don’t care. It’s not my problem.” She seethes, turning back to the mirror.
“In case the rest of the day didn’t clue you in, mi flor, we are unfortunately husband and wife now. It very much is your problem. And from what I understand, the sooner you have a baby, the happier your Abuela will be. Which you’ll have a hard time achieving if you don’t want me here.”
“If you so much as touch my shoulder, I will rip your penis off and feed it to my carnivorous plants.”
Neither says anything more.
But it takes exactly two seconds for them to act.
Milagro goes to charge his entire body into hers but is yanked onto the floor by throned vines, as Isabela throws herself straight onto him.
“How dare you treat me like this!?”
“How dare you!? This is my room and don’t you forget it!”
“Just because you’re a Madrigal doesn’t mean you can get away with everything, princesa!”
They scratch and hiss and hit like wild jaguars, fighting over the last scrap of meat.
It just keeps going.
Not only does he deserve it and worse, she can let out all the steam that’s been building inside her.
~~~~~~
“A perfect match,” Alma hummed, as Bruno poured them all another round of wine. “Isabela deserves the best and that is what she has. They will both bring so much good to the Encanto.”
“I can’t believe it. Where has the time gone?” Bruno added.
Pepa nodded, still drying her hair. “It feels like just yesterday Isabela was born and now she’s married and going to have babies of her own.”
“That will be our Lolita soon,” Félix smiled.
“I’m too young to have grandchildren! We’re too young to have grandchildren! No offence, Mama.”
Alma was in too good a mood to even remotely care.
“Is it really Dolores’ wedding next?” Bruno asked, teasing. “Because I had a little peek into the future and I saw—”
“NO! DON’T YOU DARE RUIN IT! I DON’T WANT TO KNOW!” Pepa shrieked.
Bruno held his hands up in surrender as his sister began a play fight with him, Félix laughed riotously.
“Hey, I was only kidding!”
“Well, I don’t believe you!”
Alma chuckled too, before getting up. “I am going to check on Julieta and Agustín.”
“You do that,” Félix said. “I’ll keep an eye on these two.”
The rest of the grandkids, all of whom were drunk, were out in the courtyard, hyper as anything.
Camilo, Antonio and a variety of animals were dancing while Dolores played some lively tune on her bandola; Luisa singing a completely different song over the top.
Honestly, you wouldn’t know they were adults.
On any other day, she would probably have scolded them and sent them to bed. For now though, she is happy enough to just leave them. They aren’t hurting anyone or causing any trouble, to be fair.
Agustín and Julieta were sat quietly in another room, without the wine. Julieta has been in an odd state for the past few years with seemingly new cure, and Agustín has always preferred to keep some distance from his mother-in-law when he can help it.
But they should be together right now. This is Isabela’s day and they have all been her biggest supporters.
“They certainly make the happy couple,” Alma said, taking a seat beside them.
“Indeed.” Agustín agrees. “I had my doubts about this match, but I’m glad that I’ve been proved wrong.”
“So long as my girls are happy, then I’m happy.” Julieta declares.
“Well, mija, I can attest that Luisa is definitely happy.” She paused, trying to get the pair to hear the carryon happening outside. “And trying to make herself a soprano, apparently.”
After some wonky, forced long note from Luisa, they broke into laughter.
“It’s nice to see the kids are still enjoying life and spending time together,” Agustín remarked, smiling fondly.
Julieta’s smile drops.
“Not all of them.”
~~~~~~
Long after Milagro is gone and her temper has cooled, Isabela heads downstairs.
It’s late now.
The rest of the family is in bed. Or at least in their rooms.
She doesn’t know where Milagro went after she kicked him out, probably the guest bedroom, but she doesn’t care enough to check. He can sleep outside for all she cares.
She heard some footsteps on the way to the kitchen, but brushed them off.
One of Antonio’s animals, no doubt.
In the kitchen, she makes her way over to the coffee pot. It’s half full, just needs to be reheated - no doubt Luisa has beaten her to their usual midnight drinks.
Casita takes over, sliding her signature cup along to her.
“What do you think of all this, Casita?”
A few tiles clink.
“Mirabel? I’d be lectured for at least two hours about failed marriages in history or something if she was still alive.” Isabela glanced to the side. “Can’t imagine how she’d take this… knowing I just went back.”
More clinking.
“Well, what was I meant to do? I couldn’t say no.”
A cupboard smacks her shoulder, lightly.
She chuckled. Taking off the wedding ring.
“Haha, good point. You know, I always thought getting out of the Guzmán engagement would make me happy, and now I’m about two seconds away from committing murder.”
The beams squeak supportively.
“It’s nice to know someone’s got my back.”
The coffee pot, ready, is tilted over Isabela’s cup, filling it to the brim.
“Maybe I’ll let it happen. Let the family see he’s awful and then I’ll be free.”
It smells as good as usual, there’s an underlying hint of something that isn’t coffee though. She shrugs, and drinks it anyways.
Luisa’s been drunk since the ceremony ended, who knows what she’s put in here since. It’s probably alcohol - that she’s added in some spark of creativity. And Isabela isn’t too against the idea of alcohol in her coffee at all - it’s an idea she’ll try later, when she isn’t about to go to bed.
It doesn’t taste any different though.
She lets Casita dispose of the ring.
She returns to her room steadily, not paying much attention to the beautiful decorations that have been hanging since this morning.
It’s one of the odd times where she wasn’t the one to decorate Casita in her flora - it was her day. Abuela had made it very clear that she didn’t want Isabela to lift a finger.
She never really got a chance to admire them this morning either. She’s spent most of the day outside of Casita and when they have been home, she was in her room, getting ready with Dolores, her maid of honour.
Ah well.
They will still be there tomorrow.
All that matters now is that she’s alone, out of that hideous wedding dress and can sleep off her frustration with a drink.
She doesn’t bother switching on the light, just clambers into bed and setting the cup on her bedside table.
The café con leche is as inviting as always.
Tumblr media
[Note reads, not in Isabela’s handwriting:
Dear family,
This is not about you, this is about me. I can’t cope with the pressure of being the perfect Madrigal any longer. I was not made to be a wife and mother - my most sincere apologies to Milagro, mi vida. I tried. You should not blame yourselves. I hope whatever is is next is better than this.
Camilo Analysis
Bruh, who even is Camilo? He is arguably the Madrigal we get the least real characterization for, other than Teenage Boy, which is a very broad category of person. So as per usual, it helps me to get my thoughts in order if I write this stuff down.
First, Mirabel introduces Camilo through song and we right of way see him shapeshift into a young mother so he can sooth her baby while she takes a nap. That's actually a really great way to imply several things about his character (oh my god guys, this movie is so well written).
Thoughtful enough to offer a new mom a chance to rest
Comfortable caring for infants (probs helped care for Antonio?)
More patient than I would have thought, because taking care of a baby while the mother rests is not a quick and easy favor
Sort of implies that he likes kids
Then Mirabel sings he "won't stop until he makes you smile today" while he turns into multiple people and doing goofy stuff. Everybody already knows he's an entertainer at heart but I gotta add it to the list anyways.
5. Likes making people laugh
6. Plays around with his gift a lot
Moving on to Antonio's party, he's the guy greeting all the villagers by name, and he changes his energy to match each person.
7. Knows a lot of the villagers
8. Charming and personable
9. Respects his elders (kisses the old woman on the cheek)
He jokes around with Antonio, probably in an attempt to soothe his nerves, and teases his Pa. This reinforces points one, four, five and six. If this was a different list, I would talk about what it means that Camilo is clearly comfortable teasing his father, despite the seemingly stern reaction Félix has, but I digress.
He stands with Julieta while Antonio and Mirabel walk to the door, giving birth to a lot headcanons about them being especially close, and I'm going to roll with it.
10. Of his siblings, he's closest to Julieta.
Then he's very excited for Antonio as he discovers his room, it's actually the happiest we see him in the movie (other than perhaps when he's dancing in We Don't Talk About Bruno). So:
11. Supportive? Or maybe just enjoys seeing other people happy?
Plot happens, fast forward to breakfast when he pretends to be Dolores so he can get double the food. Then teases Isabela about Mariano, something he does a lot in the movie.
12. Likes food.
13. In his Little Shit era
Fast forward some more, all the way to We Don't Talk About Bruno. He absolutely kills it, and clearly enjoys the whole production. If you're like me and you headcanon that the musical numbers happen in universe then we can conclude:
13.5. Fucking loves living in a musical
And if you headcanon they don't:
14. Enjoys telling stories.
15. Probably hasn't thought through the consequences of telling everybody his Tío is a seven foot tall boogy man that feasts on screams. Which is very normal for a fifteen year old boy.
Teases Isabela about Mariano again. More plot happens. Time For Dinner. Dolores gossips to him as soon as she can, then he immediately gossips to his Pá. When Félix accidentally spits his drink onto Mariano, Camilo has to hold in a laugh. It's possible he doesn't really like Mariano, he keeps making jokes about the guy, at the very least he doesn't take him seriously. I wonder if he's the sort of guy that prefers to hang out with women?
16. Close to his sister.
17. Close to his father.
18. Shapeshifts reflexively/accidentally.
More plot. We see him try to soothe his mother.
19. Takes care of his Má. Pepa is literally unable to hide her emotions, so it would make sense that, through no real fault of her own, the kids slowly learn to take care of her as they grow up. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and all. On the flip side, the fact that sun beams come out whenever they get home from school or learn a new skill probs means the kids can never doubt that Pepa loves them. Plus, she likely has the easiest time transitioning from a parent-child relationship to a parent-adult offspring relationship of all the adults. So Camilo might be growing closer to his Má as he gets closer to adulthood.
The longer the plot goes on the less we see him. He's clearly frustrated with his gift glitching on him, but that doesn't really tell me much. It's a situation that would frustrate anyone and they don't show us how he handles those negative emotions. They also don't show us how he handles hearing the end of Mirabel's and Abuela's argument. Rude. They do show us him leaping to the candle's aid while the house crashes down around him so clearly:
20. Sees the Miracle as more important than his own safety.
The house falls, the candle goes out, in the background we hear him first remark on his gift being gone, then wonder how this will effect his little brother. We already know he enjoys using his gift, I can theorize he's made Being a Shapeshifter an important part of his identity, but all we have that's concrete is:
21: He doesn't just enjoy his gift, it is important to him.
22. Empathetic.
Mirabel runs off, resolution happens, Mirabel comes back. He is the one who cuts through the reunion to point out their house is gone, and even gets a little exasperated when he catches a bit of flack from Félix.
23. Not an optimist. Might be a pessimist, but most likely just not particularly sentimental.
For the rest of the scene he exists in a state of confusion. The hits start coming and they don't stop coming. Apparently Tío Bruno is just suddenly back now? And it kind of seems like half the family isn't surprised or asking any questions?! There's not a lot of conclusions I can draw from him being shocked and confused that Bruno just sort of appeared out of nowhere, I think most people would be. And unlike the parents or the older cousins, he doesn't have enough memories from when Bruno was around to be swept up in the joy of seeing him again. His reaction is relatable and endearing, but not very revealing.
The last character moment we get is when he tries to twirl the shovel around all fancy, almost drops it, then checks to make sure Mirabel wasn't watching. It reinforces things already mentioned, like him being showy, and wanting to entertain those around him, but also:
24. Wants to be seen as cool. Another very normal trait for a teenage boy.
It is interesting that the first person he looks at is Mirabel, I can't help but wonder if that would have been the case at the beginning of the movie. There's room for interpretation there, but regardless, by the end of the movie:
25. Respects Mirabel's opinion.
I've got a very mixed relationship with TV Tropes. They banned me twice for no real reason, but I can't stop admiring their archive of tropes. This is what a work page for my "Encanto" fanfic, "Cracks in the future", would look like. (Some of these tropes also fit the canon characters in the movie.) This fanfic is set in an alternate universe, where Bruno has a wife (Míriam) and two kids (Teresa and Víctor).
A - L
Adaption Personality Change: Downplayed. There's a bit less emphasis in this fic on the weirder things, that Bruno will do in the movie. This is partly because most of it is told from Teresa's point of view, and she's a Daddy's Girl who won't find him strange. But it helps as well that he's happier in this fic than in most of the movie, and it makes his anxieties less pronounced and easier to control. That said, it is made clear that Bruno still manages to weird other people out. Abuelo Gonzalez (his father-in-law) actually wonders if he's "right in the head", and Pablo is forced to admit that he can see why people would find him "odd". But still, while Bruno is likely to cover his face with a hood if he's out in public, except if Míriam is there to pull it down, he will never wear a bucket over his head here. And he still has rats as pets long before it would be seen as normal, but his two alter egos Hernando and Jorge are never mentioned at all in this fic. And even him being superstitious is only mentioned exactly once.
Adaptional Angst Downgrade: Bruno is generally much happier in this fic than in most of the movie. It is true that he still deals with the pressure from his mother, and with a bunch of judgemental villagers. But it's noted that him meeting Míriam has improved his life a great deal. He never hid from his family for years either in this fic, since he could talk to his wife about his visions and had two kids to raise. Bruno and Míriam decided to simply not reveal what he saw in Mirabel's future. That made his mother furious with him, but he didn't have to become a hermit…
The Alcoholic: Tía Malena's husband Enrique is described as a violent drunk, and nobody in Malena's family likes him.
All Work vs All Play: This is what Míriam and Malena were in their younger days. Míriam preferred to stay at home and help their parents in their shop, but Malena would be out dating different guys instead.
Almighty Mum: When a bully's father is about to start attacking Bruno's door, Bruno can't do much except take his crying wife into his tower, and tell his kids to go to their rooms and hide there. And as soon as the man attacks the door, what saves the situation is that the door gives the attacker an electric shock, and that Abuela Madrigal arrives and tells him and his wife off. They try to make it look as if everything is Bruno's and Teresa's fault, but that doesn’t work at all. Abuela Madrigal only tells them to leave. And naturally, they must obey her.  * As a matter of fact, people respect Abuela Madrigal so much that Teresa can use it. She learns that if Pablo's father keeps on slandering her and her father, her bringing up her abuela is the only way to make him stop.
Ascended Extra: Bruno has never hidden from his family for a decade in this fic, where he becomes the beloved father of protagonist Teresa. So he naturally has lots of screen time here, that he didn't have in the movie.
Awful Wedded Life: Tía Malena is clearly unhappy with her marriage to Enrique, who's described as a violent drunk who nobody in Malena's family likes. Also, Pablo reveals to Teresa that he wonders if his parents even still like each other. Both of these cases are in contrast to the three happy Madrigal marriages.
Bespectacled Cutie: Mirabel happens to be the only family member except for her father, who needs to wear glasses. She's also the only Madrigal kid to have no gift and struggles with that.
Beta Couple: Julieta and Pepa are already dating Agustín and Félix respectively, when Bruno and Míriam get together in the first chapter. It is later revealed in the second chapter, that Julieta and Pepa are planning triple dates. And later on in the story, the three couples have been married for 22 years and are still friends. * Dolores and Mariano become this to Teresa and Pablo by the end of the story. It is a case though, where the Betas get together later than the Official Couple, since everyone had just expected Mariano to propose to Isabela, while Dolores had hidden her feelings for him.
Big Sister Instinct: Teresa manages to save Víctor from a group of mean bullies, and it's revealed that Pepa used to do the same thing for Bruno.
Birth-Death Juxtaposition: Abuelo Pedro was killed during an attack right after his kids were born.
Bookworm: Bruno is hardly fond of being out among people in public, but he will still take his family on regular visits to the local library. It is noted that he was an avid reader as a young man. So now, it is important to him to encourage his kids to read. And it worked especially well with Víctor, who loves to go to the library. However, Teresa will borrow a book or two as well.
A Boy, A Girl, And A Baby Family: Dolores is 21 years old, Camilo is 15 years old and Antonio is the baby of the family at five years old.
Boyfriend-Blocking Dad: Bruno becomes a downplayed example when Teresa meets Pablo. Bruno is clearly uncomfortable with it, but he still is more nervous than aggressive. And he doesn’t have anything bad to say about Pablo, he is even able to apologize for acting weird, and acknowledge that Pablo is the first person who isn't a family member, who will respect him. As soon as Teresa asks her parents if she can bring Pablo to her room though (she promises that they'll only talk, but they would be alone together in her bedroom), Bruno has to warn him that he can't do anything "improper" to her.
Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Downplayed with Bruno and Míriam as he is as gentle to her as she is to him. They were also both lonely before they met each other. However, Bruno was extremely unhappy until then. And he still has his anxieties and a bad reputation. Míriam managed to see that he wasn't dangerous though, even if she was the only girl in the Encanto to be willing to date him. Nowadays, it is her job to help him deal with whatever his problems are… * Pepa and Félix are a gender-inverted example. She is very hot-tempered and overly emotional, and it became his job to calm her down (and it's a very important job, since Pepa's mood controls the weather in the Encanto).
The Bully: A gang of them attack Víctor in an alley before Teresa can stop them. One of the bullies who insults their father gets what he deserves though…  * It is revealed that Bruno also was attacked by bullies when he was younger, and that Pepa had to strike them in their heads with lightning.
Bumbling Dad: Mirabel's father, Agustín, is clumsy and always attracts bees, but he does love his wife and his daughters dearly and will do anything for them.
Canon Foreigner: Míriam, Malena, their parents, Teresa, Víctor, Leonor, Pablo, Pablo's family and Enrique are all characters, who don't appear in the movie.
Clashing Cousins: Teresa and Isabela are never able to get along. But then, Teresa suddenly has an epiphany that Isa almost accepted a loveless marriage. And it makes her feel sympathy for her at last…
Daddy's Girl: Teresa is very devoted to Bruno and won't let anybody insult him (and that is what most of the villagers do). She is very adamant about assuring that he's right about all of his visions. Her theory is that she got the same gift as him for this reason: Since she loves her father so much, she can't imagine having a different gift…
Demoted To Extra: This happened to several of the characters from the movie. Mirabel is Teresa's best friend and still an important character, but she's not the protagonist and will not appear in every chapter. And as much as Julieta, Pepa, Agustín, Félix, Camilo and Antonio are still there, they only get a few lines each. When it comes to more minor characters from the movie, like the kids who pestered Mirabel, Señora Pezmuerto and Señor Flores, they are still around as well, but they're not named and don't get any lines. Osvaldo Orozco Ortiz is an aversion though, as he is in the spotlight in one scene.
Disappeared Dad: Abuelo Pedro was forced to sacrifice his life to save all the other villagers, when they were attacked when his three kids had just been born. Not only did this traumatize his wife Alma (a k a Abuela Madrigal), but it's clear that Bruno (who was the only boy) also struggled a lot as he didn’t have a father.  * Nobody has ever found out what happened to Teresa's cousin Leonor's father. He seems to have just disappeared one day. So he must have either been killed, or he found some way to leave the Encanto and abandon his pregnant fiancée.
Energetic and Soft-Spoken Duo: Mirabel and Dolores end up with this dynamic, when they're in the same scene together. Mirabel is very bubbly and talkative, Dolores is calmer and much quieter.
Fiery Redhead: Tía Pepa is red-headed and really hot-tempered. Her mood is what controls the weather in the Encanto.
Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Míriam had become the responsible sister, who preferred to stay at home and help her parents in their shop. Malena would be out dating different guys instead. Even as they've reached their middle age, Míriam is Happily Married and described by Teresa as a perfect wife and mother, while Malena is stuck with a violent drunk and is very jealous of her sister.
Freudian Trio: The three middle-aged women in the Casita form a trio like this. Pepa is really hot-tempered (the Id), Julieta is the calm and responsible sister (the Superego), while Míriam does her best to be the perfect wife and mother, but she can still start crying and lose her temper (the Ego).  * This is true for their husbands as well. Félix is jolly and extroverted (the Id), Agustín is calm and more composed (the Superego), while Bruno is introverted, but will often show emotions like sadness and anxiety and shame (the Ego).  * And naturally, this is true with the triplets too, with Pepa as a hot-tempered Id, Julieta as the calm Superego and Bruno as the introverted but nervous Ego.
Generation Xerox: Míriam got really scared the first time she saw Bruno's eyes glow green, and it made him plead with her to not leave him. Years later, this is repeated but gender-inverted with Teresa and Pablo. He is very startled when he sees her eyes glow green, and it makes her plead with him to not leave her. * Pablo's mother says that Teresa reminds her of her mother though. But later, Pablo reveals to Teresa that her eyes will look sad even when she's smiling. And that's a trait, that she's apparently inherited from her father.  * Víctor is very much like Bruno, which has become notable to lots of people. Both of them are described as having a melancholy and nervous personality. Their pictures that hang next to Abuela Madrigal's door are nearly identical. Both of them are also into writing stories and theater and have rats as pets. * But a lot of this might go back one more generation. As soon as Pablo sees a painting of Abuelo Pedro, he says he thinks that Bruno looks a lot like him. Bruno and Víctor are also implied to have inherited their writing skills from him.
Generational Trauma: Abuela Madrigal watched her husband get killed during an attack. And it made her think that her kids and grandkids have to work hard, and produce new generations of Madrigals, so the magic and their protection from new attacks will stay strong. But it makes her do things like allowing the villagers to slander Bruno, pushing Mirabel to the side until she feels unloved, pressuring Isabela to think that she must enter a marriage that she doesn’t want, and Luisa to think that she has to work hard until she almost burns herself out. Teresa is mostly left alone until she meets Pablo. But then, Abuela Madrigal makes it clear that she wants great-grandkids. It is only after the Casita crumbles and the magic is lost, that a healing process can begin…
The Glorious War of Sisterly Rivalry: Míriam and Malena have a responsible vs irresponsible divide, and not a smart vs pretty divide (even if Míriam is the wiser out of the two, and Malena is described as having been the more popular sister). But still, Malena seems to see her whole life as just a competition with Míriam. Malena is very bitter and jealous since Míriam has a better life than her.  * Mirabel and Isabela are unable to get along, and Mirabel and Teresa love to mock Isabela for being so haughty. But they can reconcile after Isabela reveals her secret: she was only going to marry Mariano to please Abuela Madrigal.
Glowing Eyes: This is what happens when Bruno or Teresa looks into the future. Their eyes will glow green.
Good Parents: Teresa and Víctor feel that Bruno and Míriam definitely are this. Teresa adores her father and admires her mother, just as much as Víctor adores his mother and admires his father.
Green Thumb: Isabela's power is that she can grow plants out of nowhere.
Happily Married: Teresa is glad that she grew up around three happy marriages (Bruno/Míriam, Pepa/Félix and Julieta/Agustín), but she can also describe her abuelos as being devoted to each other…
Hidden Depth: Even if Teresa didn't quite agree with Mirabel that Mariano was a "dumb hunk", she is very surprised when she learns that he's a poet.
Honorary Uncle: This story has an inversion. Normally, Teresa and Víctor would have called Tía Malena's husband "Tío Enrique". But nobody in Malena's family likes him because he's a violent drunk, so nobody has taught Teresa or Víctor to think of him as their tío. He is therefore referred to as just "Enrique".
Housewife: Zig-zagged with Míriam. She devotes a big chunk of her life to just taking care of her husband and her kids, and that is clearly what she wanted. However, she likes to run her family's shop too after she gets a chance to do so. Still, she is ready to cut down on her hours in the shop after the magic returns.
I Am Not Pretty: Teresa is very surprised when Pablo actually calls her pretty. What she thought was that Isabela was the pretty one.
I See Dead People: Víctor's power is that he can both see and hear the spirits of the dead.
I Want Grandkids: Actually, Abuela Madrigal is pushing for great-grandkids now. This is very justified though since she believes that if the Encanto will survive, there must be new generations of Madrigals to keep the magic strong.
In-Series Nickname: "Mira" for Mirabel, "Isa" for Isabela and "Juli" for Julieta. Antonio and Pablo are called "Toñito" and "Pablito" by their respective mothers. * As a way more negative example, Bruno is known as "Bad Luck Bruno" among the villagers. It is even used by his brother-in-law Enrique, but he's not portrayed in a positive light anyway.
Jacob and Esau: Pablo is clearly his mother's favorite, and Pablo is convinced that his brother Manuel is their father's favorite.
The Jinx: Most of the villagers consider Bruno as one of these. They think that not only can he see the future, but he will make all kinds of bad things that he sees happen. Teresa is later accused of causing an old woman's death as well…
Like Mother, Unlike Daughter: Mirabel and Dolores swapped their mother's roles. Mirabel is bubblier than Julieta, while Dolores is quieter than Pepa.
The Lost Lenore: Abuelo Pedro was forced to sacrifice his life during a war. That is when the miracle was born, but it has truly traumatized his wife, Alma, who saw it happen in front of her eyes. As the years went by and she became best known as "Abuela Madrigal", she started to put a lot of pressure on her kids and grandkids. She thought that this was the only way to keep the magic strong, and it would give them protection from new attacks…
spiderwoman au-
You know how Spider! Mirabel is all happy and hunky dory like 1610 Miles is? Happy, naive, trusting, etc. But Miles prowler variant isn't? Depressed, tired, cold, not a villain but not a hero either, etc.
I introduce to you, Venom! Mirabel: (sad angst ahead)
So, let's just say Venom! Mirabel got her symbiote when she was only eleven. Julieta worked for Alchemax and therefore could bring Mirabel whenever she wanted to if she couldn't find a babysitter.
A symbiote was being tested on and researched over most of the times little Mirabel was just around. One day a fire caused most of the Alchemax to explode, the symbiote got out, and out of an act of kindness, it protected her from being burned.
A little thought I had was that the symbiote liked Julieta, she was gentler with it and talked to it kindlier than the other scientists did. Sometimes the symbiote was able to see a few glimpses of Mirabel and once, was able to see her up close behind glass.
Alma, Pepa, Felix, Agustin, worked there to. Just in different districts. Her daughters decided to follow in her footsteps and therefore met Agustin and Felix there.
So, before the building could fully engulf in flames, the symbiote broke out of glass and protected her from the fire. The five adult madrigals, however, didn't make it.
Mirabel was found in rubble by some firefighters and taken back home. Bruno was surely devastated, as well as the other grandchildren. Antonio was only three months old when it happened, so he didn't really have that much time to bond with his parents, tios, or abuela.
Bruno, who was thankfully left with Alma's inheritance, was able to care for the grandchildren the best he could.
Even though they were fairly high class in wealth, Alma always thought it would be best for her children to live in middle class neighborhoods. She thought that because she came from a typically rich family, and she couldn't stand how uptight and entitled everyone was.
She met Pedro in a simple diner in a Brooklyn neighborhood she was told to never go to. The rest is already known, except Pedro died from a home invasion.
Even through that trauma, she still preferred to live in a simple neighborhood. The people there weren't fake, mean, but at least they were truthful. No one had an image to uphold or someone to impress, they were just people trying to earn a living. (Plus, she wanted the triplets to live next to Pedro's parents)
Her parents cut her off but thankfully she was already working as a scientist at Alchemax. She wanted her children to learn the value of just living life, not valuing money, so she raised them how a typical middle-class mom would (or at least tried to)
So, Bruno and the grandkids live in a big apartment in Brooklyn. The older girls are in college, Mirabel and Camilo go to Brooklyn Visions Academy, and Antonio goes to a good kindergarten school.
Mirabel and Camilo were friends with Miles 42 since second/third grade, thankfully they ended up in the same prestige school so they could stick together.
When Miles 42's dad died, they were able to bond on grief and become a little closer as friends. But that didn't mean they were happy, not at all.
Mirabel still misses her parents and other family members every day and cries herself to sleep most nights. The only people that know of the symbiote attached to Mira are Miles 42 and Uncle Aaron.
She saw them going around places and stealing medicine, and she wanted to help. She instantly figured out it was them; she could recognize Miles' braids and Aaron's behavior easily.
Go here: Unused Spider Verse Test Footage: Prowler "Wiles" Morales - YouTube so you can know what I'm talking about.
She offered to help or more like "I'm helping you and you can't say no to me"
She introduced her symbiote buddy to them, it freaked them out, they got over it, and now she helps with missions when she can.
She often calls Uncle Aaron "Tio Aaron" and Rio "Mama Rio". Same for the other grandkids. And when you think about it, Rio and Aaron are the only parental figures they have in their life. Bruno is their third figure, but he's still at a loving uncle distance.
She's a year older than Miles here (like how Spider! Mirabel is with 1610 miles), so she calls him "Hermanito" a lot, much to his distaste. She's also a few inches taller than him so she uses his shoulders as an arm rest often. Sibling tings.
I feel like Mirabel has more of an alt aesthetic, just to match 42 Miles a little bit. Blacks, Blues, and whites are usually her color scheme.
-
So, let's just say Spider! Mirabel, Spider! Antonio, and 1610! Miles end up in Earth 42. They were all being chased by a bunch of spider people (fighting for they life), told they were nothing but anomalies, far from home, and ended up in a foreign world.
All three of them were tired and exhausted (physically and emotionally) by the time they got to Miles' "home". Mirabel and Antonio stayed on top of the roof to keep an eye out for Miguel or anyone who looked like a problem.
Mirabel got knocked tf out by her variant and Antonio...boy just passed out from exhaustion and shock. Miles gets knocked tf out too and all of them get tied up to a punching bag. Both Mira and Miles staring their variants in the eye.
Other V! Mira facts
V!Mirabel has eyebags, always low lid eyes, some scars along her face and body, and lighter brown eyes.
She's a heavy eater, more so than Camilo, because she is literally eating for herself AND an alien.
Has the weirdest food combination, because again, there's an alien attached to her with the weirdest food cravings.
Loves to code and make a few gadgets here and there.
Instead of the accordion, she likes to play with an APC and make beats from time to time.
BVA's top student, as well as Miles and Milo.
She still embroiders and sings, but she boxes too. Miles is usually her boxing buddy.
Mira stopped doing ballet at eleven, she just lost motivation after most of her family died. She continues to do gymnastics but only to make her fight better in combat.
She is a smart a$$ if you've ever seen one, give her the chance and she will get smart with you. Dolores had to hit her with a wooden spoon once or twice to make her tone it down. (And trust me, Dolores keeps that spoon locked and loaded just in case anyone wants to get smart, as well as a chancla).
Makes sweaters and some baked deserts for Rio, Aaron, and Miles. It's her way of showing affection because, unlike spider! Mira, she doesn't like being touched that much.
Likes teaching Antonio how to code and make some tiny robots here and there.
The symbiotes name is Mariposa, name given by Mirabel of course.
Whenever Rio gives attention to anyone other than her or Miles, she gets a little jealous.
But she is MAJORLY jealous of spider! Mirabel having her whole family intact and happy. So, she has a little resentment toward her. Can you blame her?
Very observant of everything, even small details. That's how she easily noticed who Aaron and Miles were when they were flying across the sky. And in her eyes, they weren't hiding their identities very well to begin with.
Rio, Bruno, and the other grandkids think something romantic is going on between her and 42 miles and they are just like..."no". But they do find it funny.
Mira does NOT eat people, if Mariposa is that hungry Mariposa will just remove itself from Mirabel and go after whoever was a threat at the moment. Then it will become with Mira again, but under no circumstances will it eat someone while fused with Mirabel. The creature already knows the girl is traumatized it doesn't want to traumatize her more.
Also, if Mirabel smells anything related to fire smoke, she'll get extremely nervous. If there's a fire nearby, she'll try to help get people out but she's gonna be having flashbacks of what happened to her all through it.
afterwards she's just gonna break down crying. Oh yeah, she hates crying, so when she's doing it, she tries her best to stop.
That's all I got, but more spider stuff coming soon.
WOWOOWOWOW SO COOL!! I do remember some Venom lore. Not a lot, gotta brush up tbh but I son’s really invest in it too much 💀💀 ANYWAYYYY. VERY SAD. But at least Bruno stepped up because. It must’ve have been hard on all of them, but especially Bruno. Bro lost his whole family and the. Had to step up to raise some kids. One of them mfs got a symbiotic, which is. CRAZY 🦜
Passing out from exhaustion is so real. Common Antonio W
I do (Julieta x F!Reader) part 2
Tumblr media
part 1
___________________
You tried not to scream with excitement, not to run back home, not to pull the brunette next to you too hard not to pull her arm out, you really tried not to make a fuss, but it was unavoidable.
It didn't matter that you hadn't done any of that, but the little giggles that escaped you, the huge smile on your face, and all the energy you radiated, was enough for more than one person to look at you amused. Oh well, they knew why, so it didn't matter.
"Amor, wait" Julieta told you, but her tone betrayed the same happiness that you felt "we're going to fall if you continue like this"
"I'm sorry" you answered, but you didn't slow down "I really need to get home"
The woman just laughed at the little squeal of excitement you made and she drifted obediently, occasionally nodding to the people who watched you go by, who only smiled back or shouted their congratulations. You guys had really been lucky to end up in that town.
It had been months since you escaped from Encanto, and despite the fact that the sad and painful memories of the place that had seen you both grow up were far from fading from your mind, the truth is that you could already say that you had found a new home.
Santa Martha was a small town, even smaller than the one you had left behind, but it was warm and welcoming, and its inhabitants were kind, wonderful, and willing to receive a couple of lost girls who only carried a couple of small suitcases and hope in their tired eyes
Don Manuel, the local carpenter, had been kind enough to let you stay with him and his wife while you rested and planned things better. It had been easy to open up to him and, despite the fact that at first, you hadn't told all the details of your trip, you did confess that you had escaped from a forced marriage to be happy with the woman who was by your side.
At first, you were worried about his reaction. Two women together? You knew that not everyone agreed with that (although it really wasn't their fucking business), but after so many days walking around aimlessly, you were afraid of angering your hosts and condemning your girlfriend to go back to sleep at the mercy of nature, you didn't think Julieta could bear one more night of restless dreams (she never said anything out loud, but you both jumped a little every time thunder rolled overhead, filling you with fear that you'd been followed).
Fortunately, both he and his wife had only laughed and applauded your determination to be happy. According to them, young people willing to do what their hearts dictated was what was needed in this world. You and the brunette smiled at each other and that night you slept in each other's arms and in peace for the first time in days, with the certainty that you were in the right place. Thus began a beautiful friendship with the older couple and your story in the place.
After resting for a few days, both you and your girlfriend sought to help in whatever way you could, as payment for the hospitality. It wasn't hard for Julieta to get a little job at the local bakery, and you quickly learned carpentry with Don Manuel.
The plan had been to stay a few weeks, long enough to rest and resupply, and pay off your debt to the town, before continuing on your way, but the months passed and the idea faded from your mind, and by the time you realized it, you and your brunette were already furnishing a small house that you had built with everyone's help.
It hadn't been what you had in mind when you escaped from Encanto, but any start with Julieta was a perfect start for you. After that, it was only a matter of time before things flowed naturally.
People found out about your girlfriend's gift, and despite many being skeptical, they didn't hesitate to embrace that quirk with the same warmth that they welcomed you. You were surprised that you had not been kicked out of town, but you were extremely grateful for such a blessing. The hard part was the rings.
Once you settled into your home and collective social life, the neighbors were quick to notice the matching rings you and Juli were wearing, leading to doubts, assumptions, questions, and ultimately a whole town planning a wedding to which you only received the invitation and a couple of beautiful handmade white dresses.
"I can't believe I missed organizing my own wedding…for the second time" you muttered.
"Well...at least this time you got to choose the bride"
You stopped to look at her, smiling like a fool at the immense love that you felt in your chest and that you saw reflected in her eyes. Her white dress, in which she looked like a goddess, was wrinkled and a little dirty on the edge. You figured after dancing for hours and being dragged all over the place by you, it made sense. Her loose hair was a mess, as was her makeup. But she still looked like an angel, full of life and love. She really was perfect.
"I would choose you in a thousand more lifetimes" you whispered, letting go of her hand so you could cup her face and kiss her softly.
"I wouldn't have to choose" she said when you separated "because for me there is no other option. It's you or nobody"
"You really want to kill me" you said "aren't your 'I promise to love you until the last star disappears, no matter how many lives it takes' vows enough for you? You make me look bad for being so unromantic" you joked
"Hmm, I don't know, your 'I want all my stories, no matter how they start, to end with an us' was pretty romantic."
Julieta wrapped her arms around your waist and gave you several quick, chaste kisses, making you laugh and put your hands on her shoulders. Love really was in the air and neither of you could stop smiling.
"Let's go home" you said, taking her hand again.
___________________________
You guys stumbled through your bedroom door, unable to hide the giggles that escaped from both of you. You felt like little girls doing mischief, but also like your whole being was filled with light.
There was no expectation in you of getting to bed to do "couple things", at least not yet, you were simply happy to be with the other, to finally know that you were united by the bond that should always have existed between you and that no matter what, you were finally with her.
"I love you"
"I love you more"
You smiled and kissed her quickly before pulling away so you could take off your shoes. The brunette watched you amused as you kicked your heels across the room and climbed on the bed to jump like a little girl.
"Y/N" she laughed "come down from there"
"Nope"
"Didn't your parents teach you not to jump on the bed?"
"Who cares?" you smiled, jumping even higher "I'm married! I just got married to you! It's the happiest day of my life after the day I met you!"
Julieta laughed at your contagious enthusiasm before kicking off her shoes and climbing into bed with you. You just smiled as she took your hands and started jumping with you.
None of you cared that the dresses were getting more wrinkled, that the sheets were a mess, or that the whole situation itself was too childish. There was no power in this world that could take happiness away from you. Not anymore.
"Look at that! Julieta Madrigal jumping on the bed" you joked
"Well, I can't let my wife do crazy things alone, especially on our wedding night. It wouldn't be a good start for my marriage" she laughed "besides, I'm Julieta Y/L/N now, I earned that, respect it"
"Sounds beautiful, it fits you" you smiled "you're my wife, you're my wife, you're my wife, you're my wife" you sang with the joy pouring out of you, you just couldn't get enough of the thought.
"I’m your wife" she laughed again "and you are mine"
She didn't give you time to react before she pounced on you, making you fall onto the bed, with her on top of you. At any other time, that probably would have made you blush deeply, but at that moment, it just brought more laughter out of you. You really were happiness incarnate.
The brunette took the time to watch you as the laughter began to die down, but the smile never left any of your faces. She couldn't help but think about how different you looked from that ghost that had inhabited Casita for months, that broken creature dressed in yellow, fierce, and ready to fight with the whole world for the rest of your life if necessary.
You hadn't been happy, not with...her. It hurt her that she couldn't even think of the redhead's name, but she knew that that bond was dead and that no matter how much love she still had deep down for the other woman, she was never going to get her sister back. She would have to learn to make passes with the idea.
She sometimes wondered if she had done the right thing. She didn't regret it, not at all, and she would never give up on you, but maybe things could have been different if only she had noticed the change in Pepa in time. Maybe... maybe in another life, her sister would have been by her side on her wedding day.
But now was not the time to think about that. Not when you were looking at her with such love, as if she was the most beautiful and valuable gift that heaven had given you. She smiled as you caressed her cheek tenderly and devotedly, leaning into your touch.
"So, Mrs. Y/L/N" you whispered amused "do you like the first chapter of your new story?"
Julieta chuckled slightly and looked you straight in the eye. She decided it wasn't worth wasting any more thoughts on a past life, not while the door to a new and more beautiful one was open before her. She leaned in to kiss you deeply, intertwining the fingers of your hands that had the wedding rings.
Camilo with a S/O that Rarely Eats
Tumblr media
pairing: camilo madrigal x female reader
genre: fluff headcanons
tags: headcanons, requested, no mentions of ed, just reader being forgetful, drabbles
request: idk if you take requests rn but if you do I have one for camilo hcs again but with a reader who just kinda forgets to eat? Like not in an ed way but just that they don't really have an appetite and sometimes they'll be like "well i'm not hungry so i'll just work more instead of eating lololol" and then they pass out or something
Tumblr media
Strangest but cutest dynamic ever to be honest, an energetic boy who's addicted to food in a relationship with a calm girl who barely has an appetite
Not in a harmful or unhealthy way, you just sometimes forget to eat tbh
Camilo constantly worries and questions your lack of enthusiasm for food
"Amor, have you eaten lunch today?" Camilo asked, a hand leaning on the bench as you continued your work. You were a woodcarver, albeit only a junior one. You barely did intricate work since you had your parents to do it for you. Mainly, what you did was polish and clean their work.
You stopped to think. "Uhm, I think I haven't yet." Camilo sighed but then smiled at how adorable you looked.
"Well, I'll bring you lunch!" "You can't eat here, milo. No food on the work station"
Camilo pouted. "Okay fine, why don't you take a break and have lunch with me" Giving up, you agreed.
Camilo loved you nonetheless, he found it cute how he becomes the food enthusiast between you two. Seeing how much he loves different types of cuisines, he is always eager to teach you and show you new stuff to taste
You loved it, even if you rarely ate, sometimes you do appreciate good food.
Your work barely gives you time for yourself and Camilo knows it. Sometimes he purposely skips his chores to sneak you out of your family business for lunch dates in the nearby gardens
Camilo takes the time to even cook for you, if it makes you want to eat.
"Tia-" Camilo walked in to Julieta's kitchen, seeing her prepare his favorite arepas for the townspeople.
"Yes, milo?" Julieta looked back at him and saw his fiddly state.
"Can you teach me how to cook arepa de yuca?" Camilo fiddled with his fingers, waiting for his Tia's response.
"Sure! But why all of a sudden?"
"It's Y/N's favorite type of arepa and she barely eats so I want to make some for her"
Let's just say that Julieta was more than happy to teach her nephew how to cook seeing that he really wanted to impress you.
After Camilo found out that you preferred arepa de yuca (cassava), the boy kept surprising you with his homemade recipes. Oftentimes he brings different fillings for variety in your palate.
You heart always melted on how caring he is towards you, and you shower him with so much love and affection that he tells himself that it was worth it.
Although, there could also be times where it sometimes gets out of hand
There was one time you were overwhelmed with pending chores that overworked you so bad you forgot to eat for the entire day
Camilo was unfortunately busy with babysitting so he wasn't able to check up on you. It didn't bother you though, he too can also be busy sometimes
One afternoon, Camilo finally sent the kids he was looking out for to their homes and chased to you.
"Amor-" Camilo's smile faltered at the sight of you. Alarmed, he rushed closer to you because to him, you were acting odd.
"What are you feeling? Why are you pale? Have you eaten? Amor you look so weak when was the last time you ate-"
"Cami, I'm fine. I just need to polish these figurines" You reassured him, your voice wavering. You desperately needed to finish your chores no matter what.
"Amor, when was the last time you ate?" He sternly asked, a hand cupping your cheek making you stop working and looked at him. Your face was showing an unsure look your eyes squinted. "I don't remember"
"Ay, mi vida, you need to eat! You barely have any energy!" Camilo said worryingly. You pat his shoulder to reassure him while standing up to grab another figurine in the shelf.
"I'm not hungry, milo. I'll grab a bite after work, I promise."
Camilo sighed and turned back at your workbench, appreciating your work. He did understand the level of your chores, it wasn't like his babysitting duties. Your work had to need focus, concentration, and a heck a lot of time to perfect.
"After you finish can we stop by the cliff? It's a full moon tonight?" Camilo asked. He waited for you to answer.
"Amor?"
thud.
Camilo turned around to see you collapsed on the floor. Muttering a curse, he immediately went to you and picked you up. Fear and concern evident in his eyes, he carried you bridal style all the way to Casita having no time to believe his sudden strength and agility.
Camilo's yelling started almost everyone at home, calling for his Tia for healing food while Casita assists him to bring you to his warm and comfy bed.
Let's just say that Camilo was in a mess during that. He couldn't stand still. After you fainted, he never left your side and watched as you slowly regained consciousness, him wiping your sweat and singing you songs to calm down
He ranted to you, A LOT. You took the blow though, you kind of deserve it. And he was so worried for you
You got a lot of scolding from him, like you were a child. You tried to hold back a laugh because you never see him this pissed off
It took a lot of kisses and hugs from you to finally calm him down as you kept muttering apologies
Since then, you set up a specific time of the day you were to take a lunch break with you and Camilo.
Sometimes Camilo surprises you with homemade lunch boxes for you to eat when he isn't available
He would leave small letters and doodles in them
You were so whipped for this boy and you promised to treasure him for the rest of your life
Oh and this just makes you extra happy because he has parental tendencies and that made you ecstatic cause he's gonna be such a good father someday
The one(s) that got away
julieta x fem reader
genre: angst hehehe
sorry kinda had to make agustin a little homophobic for this lololool forgive me i love him but for the sake of the story he’s terrible >:(
Tumblr media
“I’ll be back before sundown” a 25 year old Julieta told her childhood lover before she planted one last kiss on his lips and pulled away from his gentle touch.
“Ayy mi amor, do you really have to go?” Agustin asks, standing up from his chair and bringing Julieta in close again like he had her before. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her chest towards his as he ran his hands through her hair and took in her familiar scent. Her giggles filled his ears and it brought a smile to his lips.
“Seriously Agustin! I have to go now, my mom will be expecting me!” Julieta said, managing to wiggle out of his grip and grab her things “I won’t be gone forever, I swear.”
She kissed his neck and pushed him away as uncontrollable laughter enveloped the two of them.
As she walked away towards the exit of Agustin’s home, he quickly grabbed her wrist and touched foreheads with his girlfriend. It never failed to cause a loving eye roll from her.
“You promise?” Agustin’s said, holding out his pinky as he gazed at her lovingly. The way Julieta looked back at him made butterflies grow in his stomach. He was so in love and was so ready to marry her. Her was going to ask her soon enough.
“I promise” Julieta responded, interlocking pinkies with him before she left one last kiss on his forehead and turned around to walk away.
“Te quiero mami” Agustín said, watching the love of his life walk away, his eyes wandering around her body.
At this point, Julieta had already opened the door and slightly turned her her head so that she could see him from the corner of her eye.
“I love you more mi vida” she responded, walking out the door and gently closing it with a doting smile on her face.
Walking to the town square, she thought about what she was going to do with Agustin by sundown when she returned home from work. As she thought about it, her mind wandered to the people she could possibly see there while she worked, and you somehow came up. The more she allowed herself to think of you, she felt her heart skip a few beats and she scurried the rest of the way to her stand where she knew you’d be near.
When she arrived, she saw you handing out flowers from your garden to people, mostly children. Julieta watched you greet people with your warm smile and kind words as you handed them the flowers you grew with all of your love and care. She continued watching and saw that when you kneeled down to one of the children, he tucked a little yellow flower behind your ear and the smile that followed made her weak in the knees. It was an amazing sight and you were so beautiful. The way the sun shone on your skin and how your hair flowed in the soft breeze and the smile that tugged at your lips was somehow brighter than anything she had ever seen. She then watched you thank the child and hug him, sending goosebumps all over your girlfriend’s body.
Julieta loved how naturally good you were with kids and it made her fall even more in love with you. God she could never get enough of this sight. A wave of nervous butterflies washed over the woman when your gaze found her, your eyes softening as you two walked over to each other to meet in the middle. Julieta found herself smiling so much her cheeks hurt and her hands that held the baked goods in a basket fell numb. She felt like a little schoolgirl talking to her crush.
“Work can wait for now” she thought.
“What’s got you all smiley eh? You in love or something?” you asked when you reached her, taking the basket out of her hand and gently placing it on the ground. You took ahold of her soft hands and rubbed them with your thumb. You then raised one of them to your mouth, your lips gently brushing along her knuckles.
“Yeah. With you.” The woman told you, giggling as her cheeks tinted a bright pink color.
You scoffed as your cheeks started to match hers and you wrapped your arms around her legs, under her butt as you picked her up and spun her around. She was as light as a feather and she was so comfortable in your grasp. Julieta’s squeals that followed made you form a smile that would never fade.
“God I could just kiss you!” you said excitedly, putting her down and stepping back to look at the sight before you.
All you saw was an adult looking child with innocent eyes that stared back at you and was about to say “again” because she loved the way you twirled her.
“Then do it…” Julieta paused “At the river!” she exclaimed, giving you a quick peck on the cheek before she took off running. Thank god you had quick reflexes because you were running after her, the large basket of baked goods in hand.
“Hey Julieta wait! That’s not fair you got a headstart! And you kinda forgot something!”
That run to the river really made you work for that kiss, and for the meal you two were going to share. She was never not smiling when she was with you.
But one thought remained at the back of her mind and stuck out like a sore thumb…
How was she ever going to choose between you and Agustin?
Julieta was seeing the two of you at the same time, without one knowing about the other. She kept telling herself that she was in love with the both of you and she couldn’t bear to hurt either of you, knowing that she was going to have both of you, or neither.
She didn’t know how this happened, it’s not like it was planned or anything. One thing led to another and she somehow ended up with a girlfriend and a boyfriend. But that didn’t change anything. She still gave you guys unconditional love, care, and energy.
The moment either of you would find out she knew that you two were going to fight each other for the sake of the woman you loved most. Julieta felt immense guilt and the only thing she could do was push down her emotions and hide them until she could figure out a solution… The woman didn’t want to accept that if either of you found out it would hurt you guys and she’d lose you two in a second. She just needed some time.
But some time wasn’t enough for what was in store for her.
-
Before you knew it, your relationship with Julieta had lasted almost a year and your love’s birthday was coming up. You kind of had an idea of what to get her, since she told you her favorite things were plants and chocolate. So during that afternoon while she was home with her mother and siblings planning for her 26th birthday, you decided it was best to go get her a gift. You walked to the plaza, where all the stands were selling little knick knacks, foods, clothing, and much more.
As you walked through the crowds, a small stand that was titled “Sweets and more” caught your eye so you thought it wouldn’t hurt to stop by for a little. The closer you got to the shop, the more it revealed. It was run by an old woman with long white hair and she was talking to a tall man in a dark blue suit and glasses that also seemed interested. When you finally stopped in front of the stand, the woman was talking to the man about chocolate as well.
“So you say she likes chocolate eh?” she said, handing the man a heart shaped box with little chocolates inside “This is our newest chocolate with the best quality and ingredients! I promise you she’ll love it!” the elderly woman insisted “So whaddya say?”
“Give me a few minutes to think about it hm? I want to make sure this is perfect for her” the man softly spoke, voice filled with nothing but kindness.
You watched how gentle and kind he was to the woman, he was no dummy or one that could be easily swayed. He seemed very relaxed and outgoing, but very serious at the same time. As he examined the red heart box with a red ribbon tied in a knot, his glasses slightly fell off his face and his hair fell over his eyes as well but he quickly fixed himself. He cocked his head and mumbled to himself, and you couldn’t help but watch. Something about him seemed… enticing.
“So what about you señorita? Is there anything you’re looking for?” the white haired woman asked, snapping you out of your trance.
You jolted and your eyes darted to her “U-uh yes I’m looking for some chocolate. Do you happen to have any here?” you asked nervously. You tended to ask dumb questions when you were nervous.
“Well of course we do!” she responded “What type are you looking for today? White chocolate? Milk chocolate? Dark chocolate?”
You watched the woman reach for 3 different crates and pulled a red heart shaped box out of each of them and presented it to you. She watched you tap your chin and think about which flavor Julieta would enjoy the most based on previous experiences.
“Milk chocolate please.”
She then urged you to get the box in the middle and you grabbed it. It was wrapped in plastic so you couldn’t open it to even see how the chocolate looked like. Now you know why the man beside you was on the fence about this. The shop didn’t look too reliable and you had never heard of it before either. You gave her a worried look and she just rolled her eyes and said “I’ll let you think about it” as she turned around and began to organize more treats and put them on display.
You contemplated on asking the man next you for advice because you two could probably help each other out on this. He looked just as confused as you so you figured that it wouldn’t hurt.
“Excuse me sir” you said, tapping his shoulder. He was snapped out of his thoughts and looked over at you like you were crazy or something.
“Think I should buy this?” you asked, waving the box as you smiled politely.
His strange expression then turned into one of a smile and he began “You’re asking me huh? I have no idea. But never mind that, who are you getting this for? Maybe that’ll help you decide.”
“Well I’m getting this for my girlfriend for her birthday! She told me one of her favorite things was chocolate so I want to get her something special” you said, looking down at the box.
“No way really?! I’m getting this for my girlfriend too and it’s her birthday. But I’m planning on proposing! She isn’t expecting it and I know she’s gonna be surprised! Especially her mom though, she never approved of me…”
You looked up at him, placing a hand on his shoulder “Don’t let that stop you, if you want to spend the rest of your life with her, don’t let her mom get in the way. She’ll probably die soon anyway.”
This made the man burst out laughing, his laugh louder than you expected and he slapped his knee contently.
“Ayy well I guess you’re right about that. I do love her. A lot” he said, looking down at the chocolates, smiling widely.
“I bet she’d love those chocolates, I mean milk chocolate is the best type there is” you held up your box to show it was the exact same one he had in his hand as well. You both burst out into laughter this time and continued making small talk.
“I’m so sorry I almost forgot to introduce myself! I’m Agustin” the man said, holding out his hand for you to shake “And you are?”
You returned his gesture and shook his hand “I’m Y/N! It’s nice to meet you Agustin. You seem like a nice guy.”
“Thank you Y/N. That’s always a pleasure to hear” Agustin said, pulling his hand away and opened his mouth to speak to you again before the elderly woman interrupted.
“Ahh hello you two. Have you made up your minds on the chocolate?”
You both looked at each other and nodded your heads as you looked back at the woman.
“You bet I have, and yes!” he said.
“Yes, I’ll take it!” you followed.
The both of you quickly took out your money from your pockets and handed it to the old woman before she thanked you and you both waved goodbye. You and Agustin walked side by side, talking more until you reached the large fountain in the middle of town.
“Well Agustin, I’m this way” you pointed to the left, to where home was.
“And I’m to the right” he responded, frowning a bit as he sighed.
“It was nice to meet you!” you told him, shaking his hand once more “Will you be at the Madrigal’s party this weekend?”
The man nodded “I will! I’ll see you there?”
“You will see me there. I can’t wait until then!” you responded “And maybe I could meet your girlfriend too!” you joked, starting to walk away backwards.
He laughed again, wiping a tear from his eye “Yes! And I can meet yours!” the main said, waving back as you both turned around and walked back home.
“She’s just like her”
“He’s just like her”
-
The weekend finally arrived, and you couldn’t be more excited. Your girlfriend was celebrating her birthday and she was going to be there with her family and you were going to see how her siblings and mother were like since you had never met them before. You were pretty nervous because you still hadn’t picked what you were going to wear. But she invited you to the party, so of course you were going to go so you could be with her and hoped that her mother and siblings would be accepting. After hours of preparation, you ultimately decided to wear a bright yellow dress that reached down to your ankles and you let your hair loose. You then put on your brown espadrille shoes and grabbed Julieta’s gift, which consisted of the chocolates you got her along with some orchids.
Upon arrival, you watched the magical house greet you with its tiles as you walked inside the home. There was loud music playing and the sound of laughter and several conversations filled your ears. You held your gift in hand and looked around for Julieta. You were really nervous and your heart was beating a million miles a minute. Clenching the handle of the gift bag, your eyes darted around the room, looking for that signature pair of brown eyes. You couldn’t wait for the feeling of weight being lifted off your shoulders the moment your eyes would meet.
But actually, it was quite the opposite.
The hand that held on to the little gift bag for your girlfriend had suddenly became loose, falling on the ground and your gentle, shy expression changed to one of anger and hurt when you saw what she was doing.
You saw a man with his arm wrapped around your love, and Julieta looked at him all lovey dovey and tip toed so their lips could meet. You couldn’t see him because his face was hidden in the darkness of the corners of Casita, but something about him seemed familiar nonetheless. Your feelings of anguish took over you and you stormed up to Julieta and this mystery man.
When Julieta noticed you, her face became a extremely pale and she was at a loss for words. You looked so beautiful to her in this moment, but she saw that your face was stained with tears and your heart burned with sorrow. The way you looked at the man that nuzzled his face into her neck next to her made her realize that this was all her fault and the severe damage she caused.
Hot tears blurred your vision as you looked down at the first woman you had ever loved in your life. This was the first person you had ever completely trusted and allowed yourself to be true with, and she took advantage of it, just like that. There was no way Julieta could tell you it wasn’t what it looked like because it was exactly what it looked like.
When she saw tears spill out of your eyes and your struggle to speak, she wanted nothing more than to kiss you and hold you and tell you sorry over and over until you were okay again.
“J-Julieta… How could you?” you asked. Julieta could hear the pain in your tone.
The woman began “Mi corazon I swear this isn’t what you think I-”
“It’s exactly what I think. And don’t even try saying otherwise. How could you do this? Why would you do this?”
You had so many questions, but not enough answers. How could Julieta give you a valid reason for doing this?
You felt yourself starting to shut down, your body beginning to tremble in extreme anger and shock. You still hadn’t bothered to look up at the man that had previously been kissing Julieta. You did look at their hands because as his arm was wrapped around her shoulder, she held it and locked their fingers together as she calmly stroked his hand with her thumb. This made you want to shrivel up and just disappear. How could you let yourself be stupid enough to think someone could really love you like this?! This was so unfair. Why was she acting like this but said she loved you? What was she trying to do?
People began to pay attention to what was happening and the music stopped as well. Everyone around you was totally dumbfounded as to what was going on and watched the events unfold. You heard several whispers about Julieta being gay or not and many were extremely confused.
“Mi corazon?” you heard someone say, the voice was deep, and sounded familiar “Who the hell is this?” he said calmly, but rudely.
When you finally looked up at the man, you realized it was Agustin, the guy you had met at the sweets stand a few days ago. Your angry expression softened for a moment because you really thought he was a cool guy when you met him.
“Agustin? What are you-”
You were cut off by his screams “GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE NOW!” it startled you and he pointed towards the exit “Julieta wants nothing to do with people of your kind.”
Julieta quickly let go of Agustin and tried to place her hand on your cheek to wipe your tears away but you smacked her hand before it could reach you.
“You’re still trying to do this even after what you’ve done has been revealed to everyone? God now I’m starting to think you feel bad for me” you told her, sarcastically.
You saw the pain in her eyes after you had told her that so coldly, but she deserved it. She really did. But why did you feel so bad about it?
You then looked up at Agustin and he looked angry. His eyebrows were furrowed and he frowned as he clenched his fists. You felt as much anger as he did and if not, even more. Nothing could ever compare to how you felt right now.
“My kind? What the hell is that supposed to mean? I love Julieta and she’s my girlfriend! But I see that she has more important priorities….”
Several gasps could be heard around the room and Agustin was quite shocked. He tried his best to ignore your remark and wanted to get rid of you.
The man pushed Julieta behind him and bent over a little to your level “I said to leave. Julieta wants nothing to do with you and she isn’t gay. I don’t know what kind of fantasy you’ve created in your head but she does not love you. Now leave.”
“Agustin!” you heard Julieta say, trying to get around her boyfriend and to you “Don’t be so harsh!”
He looks back to his girlfriend, eyes filled with rage “Why should I not be harsh? Do you love this thing?! This thing that- that doesn’t follow the way humans are supposed to live?! She’s disgusting! You should’ve seen her at the shop! It was so hard to not say anything remotely rude to her right there!”
Julieta gasps and her eyes dart over to you “Y/N you mean to tell me, you know him?”
You ignore her question and pull out the heart shaped box filled with chocolates you had gotten for her. You held it out to her and Julieta stepped forward to see what it was. Your hand shook as you handed it to her and it broke her heart.
“Happy birthday Julieta. I want to say that I hate you right now, but I’d be lying. I love you so much and you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
A tear fell down your cheek as Julieta carefully took the box and read the note on it. It said “Happy Birthday my love. Can’t believe you’re turning 26 already. Let’s stop by the river tonight to do some “rock skipping”. After the cake of course.”
All Agustin could do was watch in disgust. He could not believe Julieta had actually been seeing a woman while she was with him and he didn’t know how to react. Or what to do or feel.
This brought tears to Julieta’s eyes because she felt so bad for the irreversible damage she caused and she knew you didn’t deserve this at all. You were one of the best things that had ever happened to her and she scolded herself for not understanding the severity of her actions. She didn’t have much time to think because Agustin took the box out of her hands and tossed it to the side on the ground.
“Agustin please!”
“Please what huh? Do you love her? I see the way you’re looking at her right now! Is what she’s saying is true? Are you two dating?” he said angrily, about to explode once again at any given second.
Julieta sighs “Yes it’s true. We’ve been together for a while and at the same time I was with you. I didn’t think it would be like this, I thought I would be able to choose one of you but I just couldn’t I-”
“So what was I to you?”
“So what was I to you?”
You and Agustin said this both at the same time, not sparing each other a second glance because if you did, things could get ugly.
Julieta put her hands up in surrender “No! I love you both! It’s just- I didn’t think I could be with the two of you while the both of you knew and I just didn’t understand the severity of it!”
“Well do you get the severity of it now?” Agustin asked rhetorically “If only this disgusting piece of shit beside me hadn’t brainwashed my girlfriend into thinking she was gay this wouldn’t have happened.”
“Agustin, por favor!”
You didn’t even care anymore to answer his remark. You just stood there, tears running down your cheeks while Julieta tried to justify her behavior. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t bring yourself to hate her. It just made you love her even more. And that’s the exact reason you had to let her go.
The woman was freaking out because of how the truth had revealed itself and that now she knew that she was going to lose the two of you now because of this. You watched the man turn his back to you and gently take ahold of Julieta’s chin.
“Julieta I…” the man began, looking down at her “I thought you were serious. Serious about us. But I need to put myself first here. I love you so much, and I always will. But it’s clear that you don’t feel the same. I wish you had just told me you weren’t interested so you didn’t put me through this. These last few months have been the best in my entire life but if there is someone else in the picture we can’t be together….”
Julieta took ahold of Agustin’s hand as he held her and she started to cry “Agustin please. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. Please, I can’t live without you.”
“The only way I’d stay with you is if you promised to never talk to her again…” he said, joining Julieta as she glanced at you “But I know you won’t so this is goodbye. I don’t hate you and it’s something I would never even consider” Agustin finally pulled away and tears filled his eyes.
“See you around, Julieta” the man says, giving the woman a sad smile and a tiny wave, turning around and making his way out of the home.
He was a human too, and he was incredibly heartbroken, but he couldn’t bring himself to hate Julieta. For the first time ever that night, he cried over someone, and vowed to never let something like this happen again. He was still so in love with her, but this was what he had to do because it was best for him. He was never going to forget about her though, never.
You stood there, shocked because Agustin had really ended things. You looked at Julieta and she was sobbing, her hands reaching out for anyone that would lend a hand to her, but no one did. Everyone watched as she desperately made her way over to you and dropped to her knees. She held on to your dress and she hugged your legs, almost causing you to lose your balance. She hid her face in your dress as well, her tears staining it terribly.
But for some reason, you didn’t feel a vengeful anger. You felt angry, just at everything else but her. You felt so bad for her, even though this was all her fault. All you felt was dread and sadness in your heart. Was this what being heartbroken felt like? Putting all your time, energy, and love into someone and all they do is just betray you in the worst way possible? You decided that you weren’t going to stay with her because of what she did. Obviously, it was a logical decision. Who says she wouldn’t do something like this again? The woman simply wasn’t loyal. Was it because she hadn’t felt loved enough? Or that she wanted to have both a man and a woman? How long did she plan to keep this a secret for? Who knows. You knew that this was something you were going to have to do, whether you wanted to or not.
“Julieta” you began, your voice was shaky and your tears were now dried up on your cheeks.
Your arms hung at your sides and you had absolutely no energy left to deal with this, but you had to. The entire room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Everyone watched quietly, curious to know what your next move was.
“Julieta” you said again, more stern this time “Look at me.”
The woman slowly looked up at you and she was a complete mess. Her hair was all messy and her bangs were stuck to her forehead because she was sweating and crying so much. Her eyes were like puddles and tears continued to pour out of them and her eyebrows were raised, showing her adorable forehead lines. Her eyelashes were wet too and they looked like a doll’s. Her cheeks were flushed, a light pink color staining them and she rubbed her nose, which was most obviously stuffed because of the way she was breathing. Her lips were as soft and plump as ever, quivering as a teardrop made its way into the corner of her mouth.
“You have to let me go” you told her, your voice breaking. You were going to cry again.
“Y/N please. What I did was a mistake and I’m so sorry” Julieta responded, holding onto you a little bit tighter.
“And this mistake is something you are going to have to live with.”
“Please. I can’t lose you.”
“You already have. Now please, just let me go and don’t make this harder for yourself” you said, tears filling your eyes and threatening to escape once more.
“Y/N please I can change! I won’t go back to him I swear just-”
“JULIETA LET ME GO” you yelled, startling the woman, yourself, and everyone around you.
The woman began crying even more and those brown eyes that looked at you with extreme hurt made you feel so guilty. You bent down and gently pulled her arms off you, leaving her there kneeling alone. You slowly walked away, crying uncontrollably but silent. There were hundreds of eyes watching you take the hardest walk away from someone you had ever done.
When you had reached the entrance, Julieta’s voice had called out to you once more.
“Does that mean I won’t see you at the river tomorrow?”
Your back was now facing her as you walked and you immediately stopped in your tracks when she said this. Hearing the pain in her voice, you felt a pang in your chest and you bit your lip, trying to hold back a sob. A waterfall of tears poured out of your eyes and you wanted nothing more than to hold her again. But you’d rather feel love over pain, so you collected yourself and walked out of Casita.
That night, you cried for hours straight. Your eyes were so red and puffy that you could barely see. You fell asleep to the sounds of your sobs along with the companionship of misery. You lost motivation for everything and didn’t tend to your garden for a while. The neighborhood kids would always come by your home for some of your flowers, but you never answered the door when they knocked.
Julieta had never gotten to finish her 26th birthday celebration. She stayed in her room for the whole night, drowning in her self pity. Her siblings and mother were left confused and tried to figure out how to continue the party. She knew that she was going to have to go work the next day, but knew that she wasn’t going to see you or Agustin, and it caused a feeling of longing and dread in her entire being. She knew that the next day, she was going to have to pretend that everything was okay and that she was fine, because she’s the one that had to keep it together. She knew that the next day, she was going to have to deal with the townspeople and their questions, and it made her fearful. If she could, she would stop the next day from coming. All that ran through her mind was flashbacks of the loves of her life that would never return to her, and she couldn’t blame anyone but herself.
In the end, Julieta still found herself not being able to choose between you and Agustin, and that was what led her to her downfall.
If the Madrigals were in the modern AU, which social media (like Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, Twitter....) would each and everyone prefer to use in your opinion?
This was fun! Some of these aren’t social media apps per se (sorry!)... but most of them have a social aspect to them.
Alma
An organizational/time management app like Slack.
What she needs: an app that links you to a therapist, like Talkspace - this goes for the entire family
Julieta
She likes to browse the videos on Kitchen Stories and even posts some of her own
What she also enjoys: Discord - she, Agustín, and their daughters have a group chat (Julieta loves the stickers/reacting to posts with emojis)
Pepa
She listens to books on Audible
What she needs: a meditation app like Calm
Bruno:
An art/drawing app like Procreate - he has an Instagram for his art (at the kids’ insistence)
Also, a streaming app that allows him to keep up with his favorite telenovelas
Agustín
What he uses: Duolingo
What he must use: a password manager
Félix
A karaoke app - Agustín and Bruno have the app on their phones too (FAB Trio karaoke nights)
What he also enjoys: Pinterest - he pins things that he thinks Pepa would like, including funny memes (does the same for his kids)
Isabela
She sells plants and dyes on Etsy; I could see her using BeReal too
Also, a gardening app like Planta
Dolores
A star-gazing app - for her and Mariano
What she also enjoys: SoundCloud
Luisa
An app like Headspace or Calm
She also watches videos of puppies and other animals on YouTube
Camilo
What he uses: TikTok
What he shouldn’t use: TikTok
Mirabel
Kindle and Goodreads (she likes to read biographies and memoirs as well as fantasy)
She’s definitely on Tumblr
Antonio
He’s five, so he shouldn’t to be on social media. But his favorite app is World Wildlife Fund Together. His mami and papi, Tío Bruno, and Mirabel have the app on their phones.
