One of my favourite bits of media history trivia is that back in the Elizabethan period, people used to publish unauthorised copies of plays by sending someone who was good with shorthand to discretely write down all of the play's dialogue while they watched it, then reconstructing the play by combining those notes with audience interviews to recover the stage directions; in some cases, these unauthorised copies are the only record of a given play that survives to the present day. It's one of my favourites for two reasons:
It demonstrates that piracy has always lay at the heart of media preservation; and
Imagine being the 1603 equivalent of the guy with the cell phone camera in the movie theatre, furtively scribbling down notes in a little book and hoping Shakespeare himself doesn't catch you.

I just want to call attention to the way Julieta is holding onto Bruno's arm in this scene like "I'm not letting you go ever again, hermanito." 😊

sometimes i think about the history of coffee culture in islam and how it spread like it’s so funny
discovered by sufis who decided it was a miracle from Allah since it allowed them to stay up late into the night for night worship
miracle beans = UNLIMITED DHIKR
cue scholars debating for years about whether it’s haram or halal and if it should be classified as an ‘intoxicant’ or not
fast forward to 16th century ottoman empire, where a woman had the legal right to divorce her husband if he failed to provide her with enough coffee
europeans called it the “mohammaden gruel” or “devil’s drink” bc they believed it to be a “bitter invention of satan and his followers”
fast forward to pope clement viii finally giving in and tasting it to see what the hype is about and then stating: “This Satan’s drink is so delicious that it would be a pity to let the infidels have exclusive use of it.”
pope clement viii then proceeds to BAPTIZE THE COFFEE BEANS

There really should have been a scene in the movie where Luisa and Mirabel bond over their mutual annoyance for Isabela.
*Luisa and Mirabel watching Isabela dance with flowers*
Mirabel - Hey Lu, I dare ya to drop that plant pot on Isa's head!
Luisa - You're crazy, abuela will kill me!
Mirabel - I'll round up the donkeys for a week?
*Luisa already on her way to mess with Isabela*
I got the distinct impression that Luisa is honestly too busy to have time to be annoyed with Isabela. She's also closer in age and saw and experience a lot of the way Isabela grew up because of this and also having a gift.
Between that, having a few years more maturity and more town responsibilities than Mirabel, dealing with her own stressorsn and possibly not being able to put herself in Mirabel's shoes outside of also envying her her freedom as Isabela does, I just doubt the level of irritation reaches that deeply.
Also Luisa is a huge softy, and wouldn't drop anything on her sister's head.
She'd probably help Mirabel do something silly like swap out Isabela's shampoo for stinksap or something. She's not *entirely* immune to pranks, I don't think.

As you would expect February 29th is a bit bereft of anniversaries, but did you know..........
Anyone born on this day is said to be unlucky in Scottish culture, and referred to as “Leaplings.” True, they don’t get to celebrate many birthdays, but to make things worse, Scottish tradition adds on another layer by saying that leaplings are doomed to a lifetime of “untold suffering.” They also consider leap years as doomed for farmers, as the saying goes: “Leap year was never a good sheep year.”
Ithink we all know that it is the day of the year a lady can traditionally propose toher man, but in Scotland women intending to propose are advised to wear a red petticoat visible to their love – perhaps to give them fair warning! ;) Tradition also stated that any man who refused a Leap Day proposal should be issued with a fine, which could range from money to silk gowns.
If you are trying to work out the math on what you're exact age would be if you were born on February 29th, then you are in luck.
