Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

april language goals (+ march review) 🤍
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hi everyone, happy new month & welcome to q2! ♡
i'm currently writing this from london. i spent half of easter here and i'll probably spend maybe one-third or two-thirds of april here as well. so, i won't be getting much of active revision done since, i'm going to be surrounded by my cousins 24/7. i will try my best to get a few things done before this month ends, once i'm back home in germany.
my current languages:
french (A2)
dutch (A1)
edo
low german
as we are entering the q2 i’m adding low german (plattdeutsch) to my rotation and i'll be taking a break from active dutch learning. i’ll still learn dutch passively through music, podcast episodes, shows and language learning apps aka duolingo.
but let’s review my march language goals ♡:
maintain a 30 days duolingo & busuu streak (completed)
completed the march challenge on duolingo (completed)
watch 5 easyfrench & easydutch youtube videos (completed)
watch at least 3 episodes of french peppa pig (netflix) (completed)
watch at least 3 episodes of dutch peppa pig (disney+) (completed)
complete lessons 1 - 5 in ‘The Complete French Self-Study Guide’ with notes taking (eBook) (not completed)
start to watch ‘Learn French in 5 Days # Day 1’ up until ‘Le verb s’appeler (32:27)’ (youtube) (completed)
write down all dutch vocabularies up to the numbers on digital dialects (website) (i'm pretty much done with this but i will review them again this month)
work through ‘Niederländisch Wort für Wort’ to and incl. chapter ‘Dieses & Jenes’ (completed)
watch the all alphabet & numbers related videos save in the watch later playlist (youtube) in edo and take notes (similar to 8. but i'll carry it over to april)
watch at least 1 edo movie (i have 40 minutes left so not fully completed)
listen to all episodes of ‘The Great Benin Empire’ (spotify) (completed)
go through the alphabet & numbers in 'Ebe Edo' (book) and take notes (similar to 8. again, i'll review it again)
here are my april language goals ♡:
maintain a 30 days duolingo & busuu streak
completed the april challenge on duolingo
watch 5 easyfrench & easydutch youtube videos
watch at least 5 episodes of french peppa pig (netflix)
watch at least 3 episodes of dutch peppa pig (disney+)

I’m really enjoying Habits by Not Boring Software.
It’s free, with an optional subscription to support development and unlock themes, and it has no tracking of personal information, no streaks, no challenges, and no nags.
Just the world’s most satisfying checkbox with a great design and peaceful music.

Previous - Next
I have been seeing a lot of 100 day productivity challenge posts and I have been starting to kinda want to try it out myself.
So, according to what I have read, 100 day productivity challenge is basically committing to doing at least one productive thing for 100 days and document it however one likes.
On OnHabits_01, I shared some interesting Youtube videos that talked about habit tracking, and I am intrigued to try to test some of them out and how they work together.
Below is a list of possible steps I might be taking so I have something to guide myself with throughout this. Here we go!
step 1: choose the habits you want to track. Preferably not more than 3 at a time, especially at the start.
step 2: Choose different versions of accomplishing the habit: show-up version (keep the habit alive) > minimal effort version (when there's no really much motiviation to do much) > satisfying version (an ok-standard version) > ideal version (the ultima goals version).
step 3: Make the habit flexible by choosing different alternatives to accomplishing the goal (e.g.: if the goal is reading, then alternative versions of reading could be: book, newsletter, audiobook...).
step 4: Assign scores for each version in the system. (show-up =1, minimal =2, satisfying =3, ideal =4). With these scores, we calculate the average score for each week for each habit, and then the total score for each month.
step 5: Create a pie chart with the percentage of days one has done different versions for the habits. This way, we can visualize if the habit is actually becoming part of our behavior or not. If the satifying/ideal version is done in at least 80% of the days, it is slowly becoming a habit.
Watch this video if you want to learn more about these steps.
Next post on this series will be the use of these steps to create my own goals of productivity, since I want to start tomorrow. Coincidentally is December 1st, so it seems like a nice thing to start the first day of the month :)
See you then!

Self-Care: Caring for My Body

I put together a list of some of the ways I practice self-care for my “mom bod”. First Things First: Self Talk Self-care starts with…

Reading Atomic Habits recently changed my life honestly. I think it took away the guilt of doing "too little" of something. I always set the bar slightly too high and then get so disappointed at myself for not meeting those goals and it all just becomes such a vicious cycle.
In terms of my actual habits, my water intake has been going pretty well!!! On Wednesday Im going back to my hometown where I live close to the forest so it's a prime opportunity to finally start tracking my steps, and of course sleeping more. Im very excited to also work on non-fitness habits like reading more books, studying topics I want to learn about, and writing more.

march language goals (+ february review) 💚
hello everyone & happy new month! ♡
i did get some slightly more active revision done this month, which i'm happy about. my plans of travelling/moving to nigeria before the summer have also changed till after summer, which i was quite bummed about. i wasn't really surprised tho but i will see it as a blessing in disguise, nonetheless. i did plan on spending this summer in europe anyway, so maybe it will make more sense in the end.
my current languages:
french (A2)
dutch (A1)
edo
lets review my february language goals ♡:
maintain a 30 days duolingo & busuu streak (83 days duolingo / 51 days busuu, so completed)
watch 5 easyfrench & easydutch YouTube videos (i watched 3 easydutch videos and i think 1 easyfrench videos, but i'm honestly not sure about that one. i have been watching other youtube videos in both languages, specifically football and equestrian related but i will talk about it more in my resource list post)

start watching another dutch series (netflix) e.g. ‘die goldene stunde’ (i started to watch peppa pig (disney+) also in dutch but with no subtitles, so also completed)
work through the lessons 1 - 5 in ‘The Complete French Self-Study Guide’ (eBook) (not completed, but i got to lesson 3, so i will finish it off in march)

create a language learning plan for edo (completed)
watch the 9 edo videos save in the watch later playlist (youtube) and take notes (i have added a lot more videos now but i have defo watched at least 9 videos, so completed as well)
watch 1 edo movie (not completed, YET but i have added it to my watch later list on youtube)
listen to all episodes of ‘Let’s Edo’lize it: An Edo Language Podcast’ (spotify) (completed, and i'm also thinking about joining her course this summer but lets see)
listen to all episodes of ‘The Great Benin Empire’ (spotify) (i only listened to 1 out of 5 episodes, so not completed YET)
start the side blog (yh no, not completed. i'm thinking of starting the side blog around april/may time, not sure yet)
and i know i have been saying i will post my resources list but i don't seem to get around it. i honestly haven't been on social media much for the last few weeks, which i will talk about in another post. but i will post my resource list at some point.

There's a lot of talk about the wonders of habit tracking, and even more aesthetic pictures of journal pages that look so satisfyingly full colored and beautiful (honestly, goals), but sometimes it is hard to know where to start, or even why to start.
I've been doing some research in regards to this topic and I have found some interesting youtube videos, links below:
How to habit track in your bullet journal: talks about the pros and the cons of habit tracking, personal experiences, tips and ideas.
Designing aesthetic and minimalistic habit tracker based on Atomic Habits: shows a timelapse of the creation of spreads on a bullet journal meanwhile giving a summary of the steps taken to make said spreads.
Habit tracking, personal goals & toxic self-improvement culture: talks about the benefits and the disadvantages of "logging and quantifying behaviours and tasks".
Gamifying habit tracking + Framework for building habits that stick: talks about how to track habits in a more flexible, game-like way.
These last two videos I have honestly watched very recently, but I found as an interesting alternative/addition to habit tracking. I might consider trying it.

Halves company
Danny had a big problem: since a couple of days ago he had discovered that he didn't look good in pictures. He wasn't a vampire so he was actually in them but his eyes always looked bright green, and the photos left an eerie feeling.
His friends didn't mind, and his family much less (they had gotten along much better after revealing the whole secret), the problem was that he was due to take a trip to Gotham soon and he just knew he would have some pictures taken.
A couple of years ago Danny had accepted Vlad's request to "start over" and together they had formed a research company that specialized in several fields, among them: the technological field, advanced engineering, space engineering, and different ecto-related projects, although the latter was not revealed to the public.
Few months later "Wayne Enterprises" seemed very interested in their inventions for everyday life so they wanted to negotiate some deal and dig into their technology. Danny was fine with that, he had created those things to make people's lives easier.
The problem came when Bruce Wayne invited them to a gala, he told them that the "founders" of the company were very elusive about their identity (neither Vlad nor Danny liked cameras much in those days) and joked that it was a shell company for some illegal activities and it was better to check, Danny was not amused about it.
He accepted Bruce's invitation knowing full well that Vlad couldn't meet the challenge (or be polite about it), but once he got to the gala he saw all the reporters and knew he was screwed.
Would it be better to be unsettling or not appear in the photos at all?, he supposed it would be best to avoid all the cameras and say hello to Bruce or Lucius, talk a bit and then leave.
It was supposed to be easy: walk in, say hello, walk out; Of course, his plans had never been perfect, so before he knew it he was seeing the Wayne "kids", and a reporter from the Daily Planet looking extremely nervous.
