They’ve released not just digitized works of art, but also a great many art history texts and art books in general. Just this week, they announced an expansion of access to their digital archive, in that they’ve made nearly 88,000 images free to download on their Open Content database under Creative Commons Zero (CC0). That means “you can copy, modify, distribute and perform the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission.”
88,000 new free images just dropped, to use however you like.
Toilet paper is most often made of wood pulp, which, in the U.S., is generally sourced from Canada. Some of the most popular toilet paper brands score an F on sustainability from the National Resources Defense Council because they are made almost entirely from forest fiber.
New products from Green Forest, Who Gives a Crap and a startup called Reel Paper, are transforming an industry that is ripe for disruption. Reel Paper uses bamboo instead of wood pulp. Bamboo is a grass, not a tree
"It is one of the fastest growing plants in the world. When you cut it down, it regenerates from the same root structure, and you can harvest that every three years, so we've found it's the best sustainable resource to create high-quality paper good items," said Reel Paper CEO David VanHimbergen.
He added bamboo's longer fibers make it ideal for balancing softness and strength.
"It's a small change that, as people can transition to something more sustainable, can have a meaningful impact because of the frequency of usage," he added
Have the peeps at Tumblr ever thought about changing the terminology/icon for the like feature since it doesn't necessarily have the same function as the like feature on other platforms? (Being it's more like a bookmark feature and less of an algorithm feeding feature) I see people on here talk a lot about newer users not reblogging posts due to a misunderstanding of how the site works -- so I'm just curious, really, if it's talked about at all!
we talk about it a lot, mostly about whether we should add a bookmark feature to live alongside likes. and we do have “an algorithm” and likes help power it, just like every other social media site.
Following the Zeuszilla trend on Twitter, I'm posting them here as well.
Godzilla (evolved and pre-evolved verion) as well as King Ghidorah as Zeus from Disney Hercules.
King Kong is mixed with Kratos from God of War, so I'm calling him King Kongtros!
Working Joe & Big Chap (2020) | Still one of my favorite pieces I've done, and Alien Day seems like a good time to throw it on here. Was definitely going for a Sachin Teng vibe. I've drawn xenomorphs so many times (especially at one of my previous jobs) that I'm still kind of burned out on them. Case in point, I tried drawing one this morning and tossed it. Maybe Romulus will bring the spark back.
