Productive things I did today:
finished creating a single file with all the parts of my thesis (tomorrow I'll work on the conclusion and send it to the professor, so that I'll be done with my work until she sends me more corrections)
update my reading journal
did my inktober doodle of the day
practiced Irish on duolingo
Self care things I did today:
read first thing in the morning
continued working on my crochet project which has now changed from a cardigan to a sweater becuase it makes more sense with what I have done till now (I have to figure out a way to make the neck and I also have to pray the gods the final result will look nice)
started listening to a new audiobok (I started The Atlas Six, I am at the very beginning, about one hour in, and I must say that until now it's not pulling me in that much, but I am curious to know what the hype was all about)

[“You do not get to avoid growing up by telling yourself, I can’t do it. It’s beyond my abilities. It’s too hard. It’s too much for me. No one does.
I often hear white bodies say, “I want to transform” or “I want to be (or do) better.” But in many cases, they’re not willing to actually do it. Instead, they want to magically become transformed—like being kissed by a prince or touched by a magic wand—without doing the necessary reps and metabolizing the required clean pain. They want to grow while bypassing the process of growing. This simply can’t be done. It’s like saying you want to be faithful to your partner while having an affair or hoping to build muscle by buying a set of free weights and never actually working out. The way to transform is to do the work of transforming, not to just talk about it, ask for it, or yearn for it.”]

Thesis diary #51 (or is it 52? at this point I don't even know)
Today I officially sent the full file of my thesis to the professor so that she can tell me yet again what to fix. I hope she'll tell me soon, cause I have to upload everything on the webside before the 16th of October. But the important thing is that the base of the full file is done, so any corrections I'll have to make will be super quick. At this point I think I'll take a day off tomorrow and then depending on when the professor answers me I'll read at least a couple of times what I have written so far so that I can see if everything makes sense and if there's some typos I missed. But not tomorrow cause tomorrow I will just relax and ignore any kind of responsability. I plan on reading and drinking tea in bed all day, and that is what I will do even an apocalypse happened.
Productive things I did today:
wrote a conclusion for my thesis
wrote the index (which I can already tell will need A LOT of fixing)
sent to the professor the complete file of the thesis
did my daily inktober doodle
practiced Irish on duolingo
Self care things I did today:
read first thing in the morning
took half of the afternoon off after I was finished with everything I had to do
📖: The Secret History by Donna Tartt (yes, I am finally reading this book, I am 50-ish pages in as I am writing this and I am already in love with the writing. I can see what all the hype was about)
🎵:Sting by FLETCHER (still obsessed with her? clearly.)

[“Here is one of the many paradoxes of white-body supremacy:
The advantages that WBS grants to white bodies puts those bodies at a disadvantage when it comes to experiencing something new—not only when it comes to race but in general.
In white bodies, WBS gets in the way of emergence. Because WBS also blocks white bodies from them seeing this, they usually aren’t bothered by it.
Encoded deep within WBS is this message for white bodies: You shouldn’t have to endure discomfort and clean pain. Instead, you can blow that pain through bodies of culture. And you don’t need to learn anything new, different, and potentially challenging. You can stop trying to be better, either individually or collectively; stay exactly as you are; and let yourself be soothed, protected, and cared for by your white advantage.
This is a powerful and seductive message, and it encourages many white bodies to give up on racialized challenges too quickly or easily. More tragically, it encourages some white bodies to not begin at all—and to not grow up.
WBS also sends white bodies this message about race: Closely examining issues of race will cause you pain or discomfort, so it’s better to not examine them at all. Plus, if you grapple honestly with these issues, you will probably make some terrible mistakes, and experience embarrassment, and perhaps shame. You might offend people, become the target of their righteous anger, and get called out and shot down. You might be called a racist, or a race traitor, or both. All of this will be painful and humiliating. It’s better to just keep your head down; stick with the complicit, collective form of WBS; and hope to get by.
Attached to these two pernicious messages is a third: I can’t possibly develop racial agility and acuity and grit, because I’m white. This means that, as a group, white bodies can’t develop collective racial agility, acuity, and grit, either.”]
