How to Write What You Want
Okay. So. This is pretty easy, and also really fun to do in my opinion!! You can do any of these first, and you don’t have to do all of them. When I’m sick of writing or stressing about it, I love to do some of these and just have fun with it :)))
Choose your theme.
Figure out what the theme for your story is going to be.
The theme is basically the lesson you’re trying to teach your audience without being preachy. The way we do is through characters. We watch characters go through some crap and learn a lesson, changing for better or worse. The lesson, the thing your characters learn or stand for, is your theme.
Figure out what you want to show the world.
Whether your characters have negative, positive, or flat arcs, there should be a lesson for the audience to see. The character doesn’t necessarily have to agree with that lesson, as shown by villain plots where characters choose the wrong path. Audiences can still see that they chose the wrong path, and the theme is still visible.
So just...what do you want to teach an audience?
Write whatever lesson you want.
Write it down.
Create your characters.
You can make lists of things you want in characters, different personality ideas, physical description rants, whatever you want.
Got an idea for a character?
Write it down.
Make a list of your favorite tropes and clichés.
Clichés are okay. You might disagree, but I believe that tropes are excellent. They exist for a reason. People love certain stories, and they want to read more just like them. If we didn’t do tropes, where would readers find those stories?
You can make a list of your favorite tropes, whether they be quests, found family, certain character dynamics, anything you love to read in all your favorite books to see in movies.
Make a list. I dare you. Pick a few.
Write a book.
Any location ideas.
If you have a location idea...write it down.
Abandoned castle? River? Big boat? Rowboat? A specific inn? A kingdom? Two kingdoms? More kingdoms?
Shrug. It’s your story.
Any random ideas.
Write. Down. Any. And. Every. Ideas. You. Have.
Literally anything you want. Any random ideas you have. Write them down. If you want trees, hunting, and early morning rays to happen, write it down. What what you want and whatever you like. Have fun with it.
Writing is supposed to be fun. So put all the stuff you love to see in stories and include them in your own to make one giant bundle of love.
If you want historical fantasy to be combined with certain modern elements, do it. If you want a village surrounded by lava, do it.

—everybody knew that the portal to the other reality was through the fountain, but nobody knew how to cross it. There wasn’t any levier or button, and you didn’t have to bathe in it, or throw a coin either. The travel cost was a tear of happiness mixing up with the water of the fountain. A tear of sadness could lead you to a non reality.
—a marine train has been connecting the continents for thousands of years. For the first time ever, the train is heading south towards Antarctica.
—your evil twin has remained hidden away for your entire life. They finally choose to show up on the presidential inauguration. The only problem is, you’re the president.
—the wind was a living thing, strangling people on its way.
— the ice castle would only melt if the true heir crossed the gate and stepped inside. Now all five of us are placing bets as to whom is the lost princess.
Variant: the ice throne would only melt if the true heir sat on it.
And this is why we should never make out on it, because now it’s melting and you’re convinced you’re the lost prince.
–modern AU Icarus where Icarus is the pilot of a private jet and Apollo is the jerk that owns it. Apollo wants to see how high a plane can fly... spoiler alert: it doesn’t end well.
Let me know if you use any of these, I’d love to read your work!

Certain super powers sound like hell if you couldn't properly control them or turn them off. Imagine being a mind reader who can't turn that shit off, being hit by everyones thoughts in the room must be LOUD!
That would probably be considered a disability in a world with super powers wouldn't it? They would probably make assistance tools for things like uncontrollable powers. Like a helmet that helps keep mind reading powers from going unchecked to everyone in the nearby area.
And then there's the new layers of discrimination when it comes to super powers and disabilities caused by powers. Healthcare being absolutely garbage to begin with in real life, the ableism, the racism, sexism, and The Queerphobia in medical practice. Adding on super powers to all of that would make health care so much worse, particularly in a setting similar to the usa and it's lack of universal health care.
"Oh you don't have insurance, I'm sorry you'll have to pay full price for this tool that's overpriced and becomes obsolete quickly due to planned obsolescence. This tool is necessary so you don't have your uncontrollable powers hurt you or others, better figure out how to pay up for it or prepare to hermit yourself away for the rest of your natural life."
You can dig deep into lore and world building with the super powers trope. If you go the route all people have powers, there would be discrimination against specific kinds of powers. Or the route where most people have powers, or the route where most don't have powers. You can dig deep into the lore with this trope. I find it interesting to speculate, my main original stories with my OCs tend to be heavily super powers based because it's fun to write for me.
I think X men has done similar things like this with their characters. Doesn't Cyclops need a visor to better control his lazer vision? And one character can't touch others or they die, I can't remember their name right now but I think it might be Rouge?

Broke: Dragons that are more like dogs
Broke: Dragons that are more like cats
Woke: Dragons who’s temperament is based on species and can either have cat or dog energy.
Like, think about it. Either you can have a pet dragon that acts like a big dog and almost suffocates you to death by cuddles or you could have a dragon that stares at you knocking over something EVER SO SLIGHTLY off the edge until you hear a loud “CRASH!”
I like the fact that in some fiction tiny dragons or pet size dragons can have either, dog, cat, or both types energy. In one moment your pet dragon is making zoomies around the house with bounds of energy while on the other hand your pet dragon could curl up into a loaf and sleep all day.
Just depends on the type of dragon and temperament they have.

"I'm telling you, they're not ready for this."
"Oh, come on. Don't be Debbie downer. With a bit of training, it will come easily enough."
"I'm not being Debbie downer. I'm being Rachel Realistic, and I'm telling you, they're going to set the town on fire."
The Mentor rolled their eyes. "Well, well, how can children ever learn from mistakes if they don't make them?"

Procrastinating Writer's Writing Prompt
The blind king of a powerful nation has adopted a girl from the crown-sponsored orphanage in a rural region of the kingdom to serve as his heir. He sees great promise in the child, who is quick-witted and determined to help the less fortunate, all while having no patience for those who would exploit others. The night has finally arrived when the court is to be introduced to the new princess, and rumors are flying. The one rumor no one dares to give credence to is actually a truth even the king didn't know until after he grew to care for his new child:
The crown princess is a young goblin.

You grew up with those bedtime stories where the kid gets sent to a reality where things go bad because of their mindset and then they learn their lesson and return back home hugging their family. These stories are nice and all but come on, you're too old for this now and hadn't read a book like this in years.
Well, now you're the one who's send to one of those weird realities to get a redemption arc until you learn your lesson and return home. But until then, you're stuck here.
The problem? You have no idea what lesson you have to learn to get out is.

Prompt #6
Two sisters are committed to continue the angel race, even if their children weren't a full-blooded angel. They go for years without finding their soulmate, wondering if there was hope for the two of them.
On the first day of college, the sisters match with two best friends as soon as they shake their hands. The first sister's match was an angel of a famous royal family. The second sister's match was a demon of another famous royal family. They immediately thought the two were perfect for them. It was mostly because of their personality, but looks and wealth came into the picture, too. There was only one thing that confused the sisters.
The problem was that the angel hates people and spends his time being cold and violent towards people, while the demon is the sweetest being on the planet and spends his time being overly kind. If the first sister hadn't accidentally saw the angel's golden ring transform into a halo, she wouldn't be able to remember if her soulmate was really hers.

Combine Fantasy With Modern Technology :)))
Try combining fantasy worlds with modern technology. I don’t mean contemporary fantasy. I mean fantasy worlds with magic and electricity, cars powered by magic, eccentric but magic-less inventors who dedicate their lives to building the modern conveniences we appreciate in reality, working together with wizards.
Fantasy in a fictional world doesn’t have to take place in an medieval times.
*sparkles everywhere*

Some Quick Character Tips
Here are a handful of quick tips to help you write believable characters!
1. A character’s arc doesn’t need to grow linearly. Your protagonist doesn’t have to go from being weak to strong, shy to confident, or novice to professional in one straight line. It’s more realistic if they mess up their progress on the way and even decline a bit before reaching their goal.
2. Their past affects their present. Make their backstory matter by having their past events shape them into who they are. Growing up with strict parents might lead to a sneaky character, and a bad car accident might leave them fearful of driving.
3. Give reoccurring side characters something that makes them easily recognizable. This could be a scar, a unique hairstyle, an accent, or a location they’re always found at, etc.
4. Make sure their dialogue matches their personality. To make your characters more believable in conversation, give them speech patterns. Does the shy character mumble too low for anyone to ever hear, does the nervous one pace around and make everyone else on edge?
5. Make your characters unpredictable. Real people do unexpected things all the time, and this can make life more exciting. The strict, straight-A student who decides to drink at a party. The pristine princess who likes to visit the muddy farm animals. When character’s decide to do things spontaneously or in the heat of the moment, it can create amazing twists and turns.
6. Give even your minor character's a motive. This isn’t to say that all your characters need deep, intricate motives. However, every character should need or want something, and their actions should reflect that. What’s the motive behind a side character who follows your protagonist on their adventure? Perhaps they’ve always had dreams of leaving their small village or they want to protect your protagonist because of secret feelings.

I bet you if a magician/wizard from a fantasy world and a scientist met they would probably have a very meaningful conversation.
Especially if both of them are mad magician/wizards and mad scientists, absolutely fucking chaotic
They would probably try and combine science and magic haphazardly. Finding out that magic and science are not that different.
Like what if the fire ball spell was basically just a molotov cocktail but made of ingredients that the magicians/wizards have at their disposal in their world
Or certain enchanted items being just adding the thing to the item like making the hilt of a sword electric powered so that electric went through the blade.

Soooo, Still kinda reeling from whole giants and dragons should be friends post since I think it’s freaking adorable ANNNND.. I just wanted to add more. Stuff maybe small scenarios because why not.
Both beings are legends of the sky. Giants are to have said to have kingdoms above the clouds and on the land while dragons rule the sky based on their flying ability. They watch humans from above go about their day to day ever so careful to not make their presences known.
Dragons who find humans distasteful sometimes going after kingdoms burning their villages down to the ground and stealing their treasure as revenge for taking the greatest treasure which is nature. They build farms and use lumber to cut down trees. So, dragons destroy what humans have to try and restore the balance of nature.
Giants who find humans kinda cute in away like how a human would see a cute animal. Ever so curious about there lives but, not knowing how much damage their bodies cause towards the tiny humans trampling villages and kingdoms. They take humans for their own amusement not knowing the repercussions or taking a whole supply of food from village just for the road since they were hungry.
Dragons and Giants who don’t see eye to eye on humanity in general like; Dragon: “I don’t understand why you waste your time with these beings.” Giant: “What? Why? They’re so interesting..! They make so many different things!”  Dragon: “They’ll kill you. They’ll kill you and pillage your home. You have no idea what they could do to you.”  Giant: “Hmm..I dunno. We’re big and they’re small.” Dragon: “Ugh...”
ALSO, CONSIDER...A dragon flying by seeing their giant friend get captured by humans and is going to be killed by them and getting FUCKING PISSED. The dragon raises hell onto that kingdom that DARED to hurt their friend. They burn down village and ravage the land to free their friend.
