Person A: "How can you not know that you're dating a fucking deity?!"
Person B: "...I mean, to be fair, before the accident they never really acted like a deity around me. Our life together had been mostly domestic and sappy up until that point."
Person A: "And now?"
Person B: "...Honestly, it's still pretty domestic and sappy, they just don't bother hiding their inhuman nature around me anymore."

prompt #94
“I’m not really into cliché’s,” the villain, once who the hero thought they could call a friend, hummed under their breath, lip teasing up into a smirk. “So let’s skip the whole ‘join me’ speech, shall we?”
The hero felt the tip of the sword dig into their throat, and they could barely even meet the villain’s eyes. All along, they had never been on their side.
“Are you going to kill me?”
The villain’s brow quirks. “Oh, baby. Maybe I should’ve given you the speech - I’m not going to kill you. I’m just going to skip straight to the part where I drag you from here, kicking and screaming, and make you join my side whether you like it or not. I have always been more acquainted with actions rather than words, after all.”

DP X DC Prompt: Portal
A portal had opened above Gotham, alerting the Bats within seconds when Oracle said; "The radioactivity of the portal isn't dangerous but I definitely wouldn't go through it. Whatever opened it - whatever is about to come out... you're better facing it on this side."
A radioactive portal? That was the last thing Bruce wanted to deal with on a Friday night, but if something came through they would take care of it quickly then call it a night. Kick it's ass, send it home, get home safe.
At least that was the plan until there was a flash of light and a figure slipped through the portal. A single figure, rather small and hard to see from where he was standing. Whatever or whoever it was dropped a good twenty feet before it managed to catch itself and started to float mostly limp in the air held up by nothing as the portal closed up as quickly as it opened.
A million things began to rip through his mind but it was once again Oracle speaking up that made the panic go from 'protect Gotham' to 'get there'.
"B... it's a kid. Teenager around 14, he's floating but he doesn't look fully conscious. He's hurt, bad."

"Oh, sweetheart," Whumper coos in return, cupping their cheek. "I'm not going to do that."

Arthur hates his job. He hates the extra hours he has to put in every day and he hates that he hardly has any time to see his friends but, above all, he hates working for his father, but a strange sense of honor prevents him from resigning as if by doing so he could say he has failed. He is lonely and feels powerless but one day, almost as if by a miracle, he meets Merlin. Merlin is a few years younger than him, a university senior, and works full-time in a cafeteria that pays him less than he deserves but turns a blind eye if he has to leave early to take an exam. They became inseparable in less than twenty-four hours and got together in less than a week (a miracle, according to all their friends) Arthur does not talk about the problems he has at work at first because he does not want to burden the initial conversations and then he does not talk about them because he does not want to worry Merlin. He complains occasionally about his father but tries not to show how much it is weighing on him. Despite everything Merlin makes him realize that he should just quit, find another firm or at least take a leave of absence from work and really think about what he wants to do.
Arthur, for the first time, really thinks about it. Months go by and Arthur continues to be indecisive, Merlin doesn't pressure him in any way and just supports him, and Arthur is almost convinced that it's okay to go on like this, at least until his father gives him a further two-hour lecture on how inadequate he is, how the firm is not going well because of mistakes Arthur has made (he hasn't made any mistakes) and, to Arthur's horror, Uther brings up Merlin saying that it's definitely that boy's fault that Arthur isn't giving it his all. Arthur decided at that moment that he would resign at the end of the week. He wants to talk to Merlin, he wants to celebrate with Merlin, and so he sends him a message if they can meet. Merlin replies that he is at home and can drop by whenever he wants, Arthur reads the message and thinks there is something strange in the tone of the conversation.
He realizes what it is the moment Merlin opens the door for him and his eyes are red with tears. "They reduced my working hours," he says as he runs his hands through his hair and starts explaining how he doesn't have time to find another job on the spur of the moment, how he can't even think about having to find a second one but that he can't ask his mother for money because she doesn't have any, but the rent is too expensive, the bills don't pay themselves and he has absolutely no idea what to do with the university because his lecturer is an ass. "Come live with me" Arthur says this without even realizing it, he knows it's early, he knows they haven't been together for even a year, but he has no second thoughts. It's what he wants. Merlin looks at him as if he has gone mad and is about to say something but Arthur raises a hand and nips any protest in the bud. "You won't have to pay rent, you won't have to pay bills. If it makes you feel better you can buy your own groceries, but fewer hours at work means you can study more and take your time, I think that's the best solution for everyone." Merlin grabs him and takes him into the bedroom. Arthur has nothing to complain about. Arthur sucks it up and continues to work for his father. He doesn't quit his job because he knows he won't find another one as lucrative and Merlin deserves the world. More months pass and it is almost time for Merlin to graduate and Arthur is happy to see Merlin's dream come true. Unlike him, his father continues to be manic in his demands and Arthur is increasingly tired. And it is with a sense of horror that Arthur, having finished another tirade from his father, is told by Gwen that Merlin has gone to find him on his lunch break and chatted with Gwen about how Arthur is doing at work.
Back home Arthur also receives a lecture from his boyfriend.
"You stupid clotpole, damned dollophead, how could you do this to yourself?" And Merlin spends the rest of the evening telling him what an idiot Arthur is, repeating how much he loves him, throwing blows to the back of his head and later hugging him without letting go. Arthur is a little doubtful about what is going on but when he is hugged he hugs back, putting his head in the crook of Merlin's neck and feeling strangely safe. On the day of Merlin's graduation, Merlin forces Arthur to resign. They can live in a much smaller house, they can live off their savings until Merlin gets a job, but most importantly, Arthur can get a part-time job and go back to university to study what he really wanted to do. Now Merlin will be in charge of him.
Merlin and Arthur get married the day after Arthur's graduation

Caretaker would never hurt Whumpee, never.
Of course, Whumpee couldn't know that. Surely they wanted to, right? How could someone stare at their scars for any reason but enjoyment? How could concern drive someone to watch their fear with rapt attention? As much as Whumpee tries, they can't bring themselves to believe Caretaker's gentle reassurances, can't curb the panic that rises beneath their gaze.
Caretaker would never hurt Whumpee, never.
But Caretaker does hope they can suppress these awful feelings, before Whumpee realizes how right they are to doubt.

Do you have any dialog prompts for what a character might say to comfort someone who is crying?
Mmmm, good ol’ comfort <3
In addition to this list I suggest going though my #comfort prompt tag - there may be a couple there that fit what you’re looking for :D

“Would you like something to drink?"
"Would you like something to eat?"
"Let me wipe your tears."
"You're doing all you can, that's all anyone can ask of you."
"It's not your fault. Not one bit."
"I've got you. I'm right here."
"You'll get through this. I know because you're so strong."
"I'll be by your side every step of the way. I promise."

prompt #97
“I’ll give you a kiss if you don’t arrest me,” the villain grinned, letting the hero guide them towards their cell. The handcuffs are tight around their wrists, secured around their back. When they uncharacteristically get no response from the hero, they throw a surprised look over their shoulder.
“You’re considering it, aren’t you?”

DPxDC Prompt I just thought of:
What if the GIW caught Jason who was fresh from a grave and had a baby core?? What if the GIW caught him and took his core and he only escaped because of his Robin instincts even though he was basically a walking comatose patient.
When Danny is being chased into Gotham by the GIW with very supercharged and powerful weapons he runs across Red Hood. RH instinctually knows that Danny is like him the little corrupted ectoplasm he has recognized the King of the Realms.
Danny senses something is off with RH, but can’t tell what until he “gets captured” by the GIW (he’s working with the bats to save one of his rouges who was captured when he went into hiding with the bats, or it could be Dani or Liminal Jazz or Sam/Tuck whoever you want!)
Agent K and Agent O taunting Phantom with how they recently got their hands on a Core, how the ghost who they took it from was freshly undead, (a baby ghost, they stole a baby ghost’s core-)
The Batpham jump in and kick ass but Red Hood is drawn to the core, Danny (and Duke if you wanna add him into the story) can see Jason’s aura and the Core reaching out to each other, King Phantom recognizes that this core was stolen from Jason, it was his core. The GIW had kept it in filtered ectoplasm so it wouldn’t fade and Danny thanks the Ancients for that.
Jason absorbs the his core and it’s like taking a breath after holding it for so long, his mind is clear, his soul is back, those parts of him that he thought he lost (that was stolen from him) the blood lust was gone, he felt peaceful for what felt like the first time ever. He looked at his king, and Danny looked back happy to help this baby halfa (no matter that he was only a couple years younger that Danny himself) and promised to help him when his powers started coming in.

Prompt #3390
"Touch him again," the villain snarled, "and I'll break your hands one bone at a time." They looked away from the scum to their bleeding lover, and their snarl softened. "Are you alright?"
"No."
Their heart sank. "What do you need? What can I do?"
"Break his hands."

DP x DC Prompt: You'll Never Take Us Alive
Bruce had dropped the ball.
They all had.
The Anti-Ecto Act had been pushed by Lex Luthor for reasons that Bruce never understood or fully questioned. He had passed half-assed laws to gunk up so many things during his Presidency that things were still being processed and when he had the League look through the laws the Anti-Ecto Act had been brushed off by some of their members simply because "Ghosts weren't real".
But now he realized the weight of his mistake.
They had gotten a message - a mysterious message which appeared in front of Batman during the middle of a meeting along with the stack of paperwork explaining the laws. The note only said one thing.
2:43 PM.
None of them knew what to think of the message but as Batman scanned the law himself he start to realize the implications of what he was reading. When he passed it to Constantine he nearly shit bricks.
Then when the time came all cameras in the room flicked on at once, showing an "Emergency Report" of a stand off between five teenagers in the middle of what looked like New York. One of the teens was knelt in the center, holding his chest as his white hair seemed to reflect the light. He was injured and the other four teens were standing around him all armed and ready to protect the middle teenager.
Surrounding the teens were over a dozen agents all armed to the teeth with high tech weapons that all seemed trained on the kid in the middle.
All of the Justice League stood up and rushed towards the door just as they heard one of the agents say;
"Give us Phantom or we'll shoot. Ghosts have no rights and if you continue to protect him we have orders to take drastic measures."
The league could only hope that they made it to the kids in time before a group of teenagers were executed live on the news.

I know Valentines Day was last week but I was thinking about a sad little Whumpee feeling invisible anyway :)
(Emotional whump, mention of potential SA, platonic-OR-romantic Caretaker (take your pick), depression/self-hate vibes)
A Whumpee who dreads Valentines Day every year not because it's the anniversary of specific trauma, but because nothing ever happened to them.
They've spent their entire life watching their friends and family all get cards and presents, go on cute dates, have fun - even all their other friends seem to do something with each other, like a galentines day party or gifting each other joke cards, but year after year they themselves are totally forgotten. They try to get involved and give silly cards of their own; they give and give and give but nobody ever thinks to give them anything in return. It feels silly on the surface, but it still strikes a chord. There's nothing wrong with them, right? It's just bad luck? Maybe they just need better friends.
Then the main whump happens, they get held captive and are abused and beaten and broken and defiled, whatever the story is - and then finally they're rescued, or maybe they escape all on their own, and eventually life goes back to 'normal' again. Or as normal as it ever will be.
They wish they could say they didn't notice Valentines coming up the first year after they're free of Whumper, but it stays in the back of their mind, lingering. There's zero chance of anyone caring about them now. They have their new Caretaker, of course, but that's different - they're a burden to them. Caretaker is too kind to not look after them after everything they went through, and at the end of the day they deserve better than Whumpee. Caretaker deserves someone still whole.
Whumpee prepares silently for the day, they brace themselves for the depression and self-hatred they know will consume them, but for the sake of Caretaker they bottle it all up. It's just a normal day. It's stupid and silly. A commercial holiday that means nothing. Everything is fine. It's fucking Tuesday, nothing special.
Hope is so fucking hard to destroy, though, and they wake up still hoping there will be a card in the post. From anyone, their mum, an old friend - even spam would make them feel like they existed still - but there's nothing. Not even a pamphlet.
They spend the whole day shut away in their room, trying to distract themselves, and at least that's not unusual after what Whumper did to them so Caretaker won't notice. They tell themselves they shouldn't need outside validation to know they're worthy of love and affection. It's just so hard to believe, though. The first and only person that has ever loved them was Whumper, and look how that turned out. Clearly there is something wrong and unlovable about Whumpee. If only someone could have told them what was is so they could fix before they were taken and broken irrepairably.
That evening, Caretaker calls them downstairs for dinner as normal. Whumpee makes the effort because if they don't, Caretaker will definitely know something is wrong, and they really don't want to talk about it. The kitchen is well-lit, the food in the oven is nothing special, this isn't romantic - but then they see a little red envelope resting on their empty placemat, and a silly fake rose sat beside it.
Caretaker is nervous, almost afraid of Whumpee's reaction - they just wanted to do something nice for their friend, especially after what Whumper did to them. It's a silly little thing meant to make them smile on a day they know can be hard.
But Whumpee is just standing and staring at the envelope, terrified of it. Caretaker goes to say something but before they can, Whumpee starts to cry. They completely break down, months and months and years of bottled up feelings bubbling up and spilling over in an ugly mess.
Their legs give out and they kneel on the floor as they sob, trying to catch their breath. Caretaker thought of them. They remembered them. They're Whumpee's best friend, their greatest, closest, most wonderful friend they could ever have dreamed of and they love them so much it hurts to breathe.
How dare they, though? How dare they come into their life now, when they're all broken and used and ruined? Where were they before everything went wrong? Why couldn't they be loved like this when they still felt like they were allowed to be?
