We saw the beginning, now I be thinking about all the possible...uhh the word is like aftermath...epilogues? Seeing as the narrative will be left open ended, we can hypothesize and fantasize just about anything!
This one is Harvey carrying on with what he idealized as a normal life, getting married, having kids, going out with the boys, stuff you see on TV. But Cammy is still there, still a part of his life. And that's pretty neat. And also I cry.
#i went on a spree yesterday with a bunch of aftermathematics that made me cry myself to sleep#because no matter what. every single end. cammy will outlive harvey. every thing in between can be different#cammy leaving. cammy staying. reluctance. romance. etc etc. cammy will live on without harvey. and it will hurt them. a lot.#it hurts me a lot. im still crying over 'thank you for keeping me in your life'#cammy could be living in the garden until the very end. either of harveys life. or the tree they took care ofs life.#maybe cammy leaves but visits from time to time. or maybe they visit right before harvey kicks the bucket#who knows! thinking about anything past the narrative makes me cry#because we dont see that in media. we always get the good ending but that is never the end. what happens afterwards?#cause grow as we go's narrative ends after harvey finally reunites with his family in the philippines and decides#i want to stay at my house and take care of my garden. ill be sure to visit every year from now on.#and the credits would roll as him and cammy travel back. on the plane. the taxi ride. harvey getting the key in the door.#harvey putting cammy in the little makeshift bed he made. and him looking out the window of his room down at the garden. him smiling#and then it says end. thank you for watching. this took fourty two years to make oopsie whoops#god i go on long rants when its late. anywho compare to last time i made a possible ending#cammy reluctantly leaving as they both start to fall in love with each other#cammy willingly running away knowing harvey will heal from this and move on and be normal#this one here theres no leaving. there is no normal. its just living dude#grow as we go#sketches#harvey#camellia

aizawa x teacher!reader au again
Tumblr media
“…fantastic work, yaoyorozu-san. next week, i would like the chopin fully memorized, and come with both the mozart and last term’s bach piece ready to rehearse,” you said.
yaoyorozu wrote down the assigned work in her planner. “i will. thank you, sensei. have a good afternoon.”
“you as well. thank you.”
with that, the girl took her leave. aizawa walked in shortly after carrying two coffees with a familiar logo and no blond boy; you tried to hold back the flush fighting to rise to your cheeks. had he really been observant enough to notice the name on the disposable cup you’d bring in once or twice a week just by holding the door or…?
“hello! you’re here early,” you said, checking the clock. he was fourty-five minutes early, to be exact.
the corner of his lips upturned slightly. “i am. I thought it would be nice to have coffee with you before the kid shows up. what do you say?”
a grin pushed its way across your cheeks. “that would be nice,” you replied. you took the hot drink in your hands and thanked him, grateful for the heat radiating from the cup.
the two of you sat at a small table at the front of your room. most of your time was spent discussing how the school year was going and how both of your students were fairing. aizawa’s voice was warm, and his eyes were kinder than you’d expected; he had a way of soothing your nerves though he was the one that caused the fluttering in your chest. and while he may have had a flat affect most of the time, it was clear by the way he spoke that he cared deeply for his students and was passionate about his job.
“…the whole class is progressing well, despite everything. you’re welcome to stop by during afternoon trainings any day if you have time. bakugo might even appreciate it… in his own way,” he said with a subtle grin.
you laughed softly. “perhaps he would. i’ll see what i can do.”
aizawa checked his watch in an effort to be conscious of the time; somehow forty minutes had passed since he’d arrived and you’d both hardly noticed.
“thanks again for being flexible and letting me pull bakugo in a few days early,” you said.
“it’s no trouble at all. class 1-a has an off campus training session coming up, so it works out,” aizawa said.
there was a brief pause as he contemplated what he was about to say. “this… this might not be appropriate to say here, but i’d love to take you on a date saturday night if you’re free.”
a quick glance at your face had aizawa questioning his decision; your eyes went a little wide with surprise and your cheeks flushed.
“yes. uh, yes,” you stumbled as a smile bloomed across your features. “that would be wonderful.”
“i’ll pick you up saturday at six. wear something warm and comfortable.” the boyish grin pulling at his lips almost seemed out of place for a moment, but it was natural and sweet the way a hint of excitement colored his tired eyes.
“sounds like a plan. i’ll see you then,” you replied with a smile.
not long after that, bakugo came in. upon being asked he shared with mild but unusual excitement about how well he was doing in his english class, and said he was looking forward to the off campus hero training session at the end of the week.

Tumblr media
Ever since his fake death, Itadori has been training alone with the help of Gojo - and now, he works along a freshly new face, who belongs to a senior, founds out ex-salaryman named Nanami Kento. He's far a thousand times more strict than Gojo. Itadori doesn't really likes the change, because Nanami is a person he can't get along. This whole guy's appearance scream "work 4 life"; he has proved different, now he screams "work is shit - but I gotta do it because others won't".
They've just finished cleansing the outside of a movie theater off a few curses, when Itadori hears shouting from far behind them. Two figures approach, waving excessively. He quickly picks on Nanami's tired sigh beside him.
"Nanami! We figured out you'd be here! Our mission has been finished and we wanted to catch up to have lunch together!" A male clad in a full black outfit shouts, he has brown hair and a beanie on top of his head, looking quite content.
The other person simply trots next to him in silence, approaching with a friendly smile. They notice Itadori faster than the male, smile widening and quickly waving hello, suddenly eager to reach up to them. The gesture makes the pink haired boy perk up, curious to why the other person looked so joyful. His question is easily answered, when they tug on the man's sleeve and motion to him.
"Ino, we have a third buddy!" The dude looks at him with widened eyes. "So nice to meet you, I'm Y/N L/N! It's great to see new faces around!"
Itadori smiles at your energy, knowing already he would click with you very well.
"I'm Ino Takuma, sorry for not noticing you before! Your uniform looks cool." Itadori exchanges a few compliments with Ino, before the man turns to talk with Nanami, leaving him and you together.
"Yes! I'm Sukuna's vessel, Itadori Yuuji-desu! My type of woman is Jenn-"
You turn to him. "So, are you a first year?"
"Geh? Weren't you dead though?!"
"I was!- I am!- Please keep secret."
"Okay!"
"Ahem." Nanami coughs, drawing attention. "I requested you two to not come after me today. Itadori here is the reason why."
"That's no problem, we're very capable of keeping secrets." You threw your arm over Itadori's shoulder, him nodding along with you.
"Oh really, then remember to keep quiet about it. I'll let this slide." The group of students nervously at Nanami's intimidating tone. "But, I'll get to have my break alone."
"Gah!" Ino exclaimed, watching Nanami walk away; he also left the responsability of taking care of Itadori for you two, leaving without a word. "It really had to be today, when Nanami would take us to his favorite bakery..."
"Crybaby." You teased. "Itadori here can't go outside where anyone can see him, he's dead. So, we were to order food either way because he shouldn't be left out."
"Augh okay, it would be unfair."
"So, where are you staying Itadori?"
"At Gojo's state!"
"Whoa, I've never been there before." Ino commented, waiting as you sent a message to Ijichi to pick them up.
"He's my teacher, a very cool one!"
"I imagine! Ooookay, once we get there I'll get the food."
Itadori felt as his chest would burst of excitement, finally there was people around him again, he couldn't be less happy about it.
"Sharing is caring!"
Itadori laughed as you wrestled with Takuma for some fries, netflix long forgotten in the background, as watching the banter was way more entertaining. Most of the time, Ino rambled a lot about Nanami, while he rambled a lot about Gojo. The guy even showed him the cool scar under his beanie. He felt kinda upset after explaining the exchange was just temporary, his stay under Nanami's wing wasn't decisive, and therefore, he was more like a classmate than a partner.
Itadori also learned a lot about you. He was surprised to find out that you, although energetic, was the one to speak the lesser in conversations. His surprisement grew even bigger when you told him you're a exchange student from Kyoto, arriving Tokyo about the same month as him - thankfully, you were to say for good.
Conversations flowed easily in the air, until a voice from the doorway barged in.
"Yuuji-kun! Don't forget about your lessons! Hi kids! Bye kids!" Gojo said playfully, throwing the familiar punching bear to Itadori before leaving.
"What's this thing?" Ino asked.
"It's to help me control my cursed energy. So while I watch the movies, if I don't charge it with cursed energy it punches me square in the face. I thought I had mastered this thing already, but he insist I keep training with it." Itadori grumbles.
"At least it's cute." You commented, taking a sip of your drink.
"Until it punches you in your face without warning!" The pink haired boy barks.
The talks died down, the three of you eating quietly when another movie is played on the screen. Itadori didn't bother reading the title, it was a plain one about a zombie apocalypse that got him extremely bored, yet he kept watching still so the plushie didn't punch him in the face again; he's been keeping a record since all his last cursed energy training lessons were a sucess to this day. When his head started nodding and eyelids dropping Itadori can't remember well, about fourty five minutes of movie perhaps? Make it fifty, the second slumber took over his body completely.
When he awoke once again, it was near midnight, the clock on the wall told him so. He also noticed a soft and warm surface supporting his head, figures, it's your shoulder he's resting into, he feels an arm around his own shoulders and your cheek placed upon his hair.
"Hey, it's late." You immediately notices he's awake, calling out softly. "You should sleep on your room, or something, better to your spine."
He chuckles when you poke his side. "But I'm comfortable here."
"I'm surprised, you just met me today, and now is sleeping on my shoulder."
"I'm not, that happens often to me."
"Sleeping on people's shoulders?"
"No! Making friends quickly." Itadori likes your gentle warmth, your hug, everything makes him feel at home. "I met two more people before you for two weeks, but they can't see me, because I'm dead."
"So I'll keep you company, that's my new mission."
His eyes widen at that, a oh so little blush covering the tip of his ears.
"For how many time I slept anyway?" He asks.
"About two- no, three hours. You missed two movies, and this one is about to end."
"And you stayed here the whole time?" He motions to your shoulder.
"Yep. That reminds me I gotta pee."
Itadori grumbles, but quickly lifts himself off you, respecting your needs. That gives him some time to look around, he notices Ino is gone, and the plushie sits quietly at the other side of the couch, unmoving.
"Y/N! How did you manage to make it quiet down?" He's beyond bafflet.
"...que."
"What!"
"I said!" You arrive quickly at the doorframe, hands still wet from when you washed them. "I used my innate technique."
"Oh! How is it like?"
"It's kinda funny, gimme a moment." You left to wipe off your hands, coming back in a second. "So, just like Shoko, I produce reverse curse energy, but it's quite different than hers, I can't heal people. That's why we often call it positive energy instead. I can use it to soothe off negative energy, so the bear has no cursed energy right now."
"How does it works on people?" He felt very curious about everything, asking away like a kid.
"Since everyone has negative energy, it just makes you sleepy really. But when it comes to curses it's really practical, I can either weaken it or, if the curse is like grade three or four, I can slap them off existence completely by wiping all their energy." You were naturally proud of having a such versatile power, your own energy swirling with pride around you.
"That sounds amazing! Is it why I fell asleep though?"
"Nah, only if I did it on purpose. I guess you were just tired, hope you don't mind I decided to let you rest today."
"No way, it was a good nap."
You nodded. "By the way, Ino left to attend to a drinking party, he paid for our food."
"Drinking? Is he old?"
"Yeah, he's twenty." You chuckled, already expecting that kind of reaction.
"No way! He looks young just like us!"
"That's totally my reaction after I learned he's twenty!"
After that day, you started visiting Itadori weekly to daily, after exchanging numbers he made a little group with you and Ino, naming it the "Nanami trio". But really, he exchanges more texts with you in private, be them memes, cool images he wish to share, etcetera. Although, Ino wasn't left excluded, he ofter brough his xbox to connect to Itadori's tv room and you all would spend hours playing together; he just didn't spend much time with both of you as much. And that was okay.
For a few days, your connection with Itadori died down when he didn't reply to your texts. They would remain unread for some time, the longest being half a day, until he would spam apologies then move on with the topic. That became a routine until one day when you came over to check on Itadori unnanounced, needin to ease off your worries about the boy, only to find him sobbing in the middle of a hallway, staring ahead and beyond, his back to you.
"Ita-?"
"Egh!" Startled, he scrambled to wipe his eyes, turning to you. "H-hey, um, hi."
"What happened?"
"I- he-" His eyes didn't met yours, knuckles white in a death grip. You notice he has a few bandages thrown over his face and arms. The way his shoulders are drawn, as if he wants to shrink into himself is something you've experienced before.
"Something hard to talk about?"
He nods almost immediately, head still facing down.
"It's alright, come with me." You reach for his hands, grimacing slightly when his forceful grip is now on your hand, yet you don't comment on it. He follows you through the state wordlessly.
You two stop on the same tv room, sitting down on the couch. You then guide his head to your shoulder, gently massaging his scalp with the free hand.
"It's alright."
Those two words are chanted like a prayer for the next half hour, at some point, Itadori twisted his body towards yours and unknowingly caged you between him and the sofa arm. He embraced you with a force you didn't have in you, like he didn't want to lose one another. Painful or not, not a muscle moved on your body. He needed a shoulder to cry on.
Thirty minutes passed like seconds, you peered down only to find the boy confortably napping against your bosom; at some point you just became the cold side of the pillow to him. That's alright. It brings you joy to be the mom friend anyways. So you decided to join the sleepland aswell, arms still secured around his shoulders and the back of his head.
It feels like the nap hasn't been long, though, because you can feel Itadori's grip loosening and therefore, you're awake.
"Sorry if I broke any bones, in advance."
"Wow, and you only warn me now."
He laughs at your comeback, hands still secured around your waist.
"I'm surprised you let me uh, cuddle you for comfort - and sleep. I don't understand it? You just make me sleepy." He rambled, keeping eye contact with you while his head still rests on your chest.
"That's a piece of cake when you have younger siblings who seek for you every night they get a nightmare."
"Does that mean I can come to you again if I have a nightmare?" There it is, his togepi-kirby cutesy face.
"Are you four?"
"That's mean!" Itadori blushed, squeezing you on his arms. "I like the contact. It puts me at ease."
"Mm, do you want to talk about it?"
He gulped. "No, not really."
Your peach haired friend remained silent, and so did you. It seems he doesn't intend in letting you go soon, or he just really forgot to mention it. It gives them time to think, your younger sisted used to do that sometimes, back in Kyoto.
"Y/N, wanna watch anything?"
"Sure, have you watched Parasyte before?"
"No, let's give it a try then!" Itadori glances at the remote, then back at you - making you confused over his hesitation to move. He notices you noticed it, chuckling nervously. "To be honest, I don't wanna let go."
"It's hurting my back."
"SORRY I'M SORRY!" He jumped away from you like a cat would jolt away from a cucumber, making you snicker.
"It's okay, I just wanted to change positions."
And to tease you, but he didn't need to know that part.
He glared at you with a small pout, typing the initials of Parasyte on the search bar. Outside his line of vision, you were grinning like a idiot, his sweeteness took a tow on you. All the people of Tokyo you met really held a way different spirit from your classmates in Kyoto, Itadori being the nicest of all. It's surprising him being Sukuna's vessel to begin with; being honest, you felt drawn by it.
"Y/N, it's startiiiiing." He cut your daydreaming short, slumping on your side and propping his head on your shoulder.
"This again?" You throw an arm around his shoulders, very much like the first time he cuddled himself on you.
"Don't blame me, you're the one who wanted to change positions. Guess I'll just make some alterations since I'm awake this time!" One of his arms went behind your back and circled your waist, hand resting at your hip.
"It's definely different, since the other time you drooled on me."
"Hhgh, okay okay! Let me enjoy this." For perhaps the actual first time, you're able to watch without exchanging words with one another.
And this time, it's you who's head loll to the side, nose buried on his soft rose perfumed hair. Itadori doesn't comment on it yet, his free hand moves under your legs to lift your whole body up efortlessly when he senses you have fallen asleep.
"I remember you said it's bad for my spine, I wouldn't mind it... yours however."
The boy makes a beeline to the guest room, he sighs when there is no choice but open the door with his foot. Inside, he places you carefully in the soft bed.
Before he could leave, a hand reaches up for his sleeve.
"Itadori," He turned, looking at you. "Make me company?"
He giggles softly - you think it sounds like a highschool girl. "You should start calling me by my first name!" Itadori rambles as he climbs on the bed, arms wrapping around your waist in a motion you're familiar with.
"Yuuji, I'm tired, let me sleep."
"But I wanna talk more..." He pouts. "Also, are we, um, dating?"
You wriggle around, bringing his head down to peck on his forehead, teasing. "Correction, I want to date you."
"Uh, oh." A blush coats his face so quickly, you'd say someone dumped a bucket of red paint on his face.
"Is that a no?"
"No!"
"So it is a no."
"Christ, will you stop teasing for a second, I'm trying to talk here." He makes an angry version of his togepi-kirby face, you can't help but grin.
"You amuse me, but okay. I'll do it for you."
"Thanks." He blinks, the blush slowly fading away. "You know, I lied, not about the contact, I like the contact nonetheless-"
His hand moves to play with yours, such as tapping his tips against yours, or meassuring the palms.
"-it's you who brings me comfort."
It's also your turn to blush, that line was seriously charming.
"Yeah."
"Yeah?"
"Yes, we're dating now." You respond, a little eagerly. "Can I kiss you?"
"Please."
This is the best person I could ask for, Itadori thinks, keeping his eyes open as yours shut during the kiss, whom I won't change for anything else in this world.
When you both separate, Itadori feels drowsy and sleepy. His face fits perfectly on your shoulder as always.
"Goodnight, my favorite person."

Breaking the Glass
Part 2 of 2 of Whatever the Outcome Series
Rating: Teen and up
Pairing: Lip Gallagher x fem!reader
Word Count: 5,204
Summary: The hearing of Lip Gallagher and Professor Helene Runyon is today. You watch it all unfold, it seems, with your hands clasped tightly over your eyes.
Warnings: swearing everywhere, some violence, smoking and drinking of course, slut shaming
A/N: this is the best fucking thing I have ever written and I just want to say ahhhhh. I used the word “fuck” 64 times in this. Set in 6x06. Part 1
Tumblr media
It was the day of the hearing and to say Lip was freaking out, was an understatement.
You watched in both horror and amazement as he tore open his third pack of cigarettes. It was a thing you noticed he did when he completely lost it. He chained smoked like a motherfucker. The ashtray you slid his way a couple hours ago was completely filled with stubs and you were pretty sure you could hold the thick smoke in your hands.
You hauled him into your dorm room after his classes were done, wanting him to have company that wasn’t destructive before the board meeting. He sat on your coffee table, and you on the edge of your bed. No one was talking. You let him wallow in his anger and his grief, and you offered him anything you thought could help him. A safe space to freak out and a friend that wouldn’t judge him as he spiraled. He didn’t have to pretend to be strong. Not to you.
You cleared your throat and ran a hand over your mouth as you stared at him. He hadn’t spoken in hours. Hadn’t done anything in hours. Just stared at the floor and smoked.
“Alright champ, I think that’s enough. No need to get lung cancer any faster.” You attempted to tease as you nudged his leg with your foot. You knew your voice gave away your panic, and you felt your face burn as you looked away from him. He leaned back on the table and puffed out more smoke. With a sigh, he threw the barley smoked cigarette onto the giant pile and looked out the window in your dorm room.
You’d always liked that your room faced the giant quad most people walked through. You liked that you could witness everyone just living their lives. It seemed that’s what you did best. Watch as people lived their lives. Make their mistakes. Get back up again.
You tugged a cigarette from one of the packs and lit it quickly. Taking a drag, you felt some of the nerves leave your body.
“We are so fucked.” He swore, staring out at the expanse of the campus. You glanced at him, wondering if he thought this was the last time he would see the campus as a student. You didn’t get along with a lot of people. You were one of a few that didn’t grow up with a silver spoon stuck in your mouth. Your bad temper and lack of manners didn’t help you much. Sure, you liked Joaquin fine, but he was always trying to get into your pants.
Lip was different. You two met a few weeks into Freshman year. You were taking a smoke break when he raged into the alleyway and beat the shit out of a dumpster. You’d been attached to the hip ever since.
You stayed with him over the summer and helped him deal with his little brother and his family anyway you could. Lip was like family to you now, and he might go away. You were terrified he would be expelled. You didn’t know what you would do if he walked out and went to his dorm to pack his bags. Just the thought alone made your blood freeze in your veins. “She’s never going to want to see me again.”
You blinked a few times.
Oh right.
Helene.
He wasn’t scared that he would leave the school. Leave all this hard work and the money he’d been given, especially by that man who paid for this all making Lip fucking owe that man to at least finish. Or his own room which he deserved after sharing a space with three other boys back at home, not that you’d think he minded at the time, but once you get a taste of freedom it’s so hard to go back. Or a place where he actually belonged, a place he could let his mind grow and you’ve seen him teaching, he had a gift, a talent, and he was going to waste it all.
You tried to rack your brain for more reasons, but the one true reason was screaming at you. He couldn’t leave. Leave, fuck, you couldn’t do this, leave you. Your chest heaved as you admitted that to yourself. You were afraid he was going to leave you. Fuck. You couldn’t do this right now. You stared at him and let out a bitter laugh.
No, he was worried that Professor Runyon would be fired because she was sleeping with a student when she knew damn well the risks of doing so. Worried that her fourty year old cougar ass wouldn’t want to see him anymore. That’s what he was so stressed about.
You pushed off your bed and crossed over to the window, taking another deep drag of your cigarette.
“Maybe. You sure know how to pick ‘em.” You said bitterly. Wanting to cause a sting in return for the way his comment hurt you. Lip turned to you and raised an eyebrow.
“Fuck is that supposed to mean?”
“Well, what first was Karen? I don’t even need to explain that one. Then Mandy. I actually really liked her. That one was your fault. Then Amanda, fucking bitch. And now Professor Runyon. Face it Lip, you have bad taste in women.” You took another drag. “And also a thing for blondes.”
Lip flicked his cigarette out as his jaw dropped. “I thought you were supposed to make me feel better.”
“Why the fuck should I have to?!” You snapped, all that anger finally bubbling over and exploding. You threw your cigarette onto the floor and stomped it out. “What ‘cause I’m the only one left? Only one you haven’t fucked so that means I haven’t gotten screwed over by the bullshit logic you use, all orchestrated by your dick?! Are you fucking kidding me Lip? Are you actually this dense? You think she would want to see you after all of this? You ruined her career her fucking livelihood. She has a family she wouldn’t choose you over them you fucking moron!” You laughed again and turned around. The sudden urge to slap him welled up inside you, but you choked it down. You were not going to be another jealous girl. Not you. Fucking no way.
Lip’s nostrils flared as he got progressively angrier at your words.
“You don’t know how she feels about me! She loves me, I-I love her!” He got in your face and you set your jaw as you stared at him.
You leaned into him and jabbed a finger into his chest. Your noses inches apart.
“Lip you love getting your dick wet. You don’t know shit about real feelings you fucking manwhore. All you’ve ever done is fuck girls over for your own agenda. And that’s all you’ll ever do. You’ll die alone because all you know is how to fuck people over and push the ones who care away.” You shoved him out of your face and stormed over to your door.
“Out.” Your voice was steady and calm, but the murderous look on your face betrayed you. Lip let out a sarcastic laugh and picked up his bag from your floor.
“Thank you for fucking nothing then!” He called as he walked out the door. You slammed it before he could start talking again. Grabbing the ashtray off your table, you opened your window, and threw it at the ground. The amber glass shattered as the cigarette stubs scattered along with it. You let out a shaky breath as you fell backwards onto your bed.
Taking a glance at the clock, you groaned. It was an hour until the hearing. You had an hour to decide what the fuck to do.
Alright fuck, let’s go over the facts. Lip is a fucking asshole who was in a relationship with a professor when both knew their relationship would end in either expulsion or loss of a job. Alright so maybe they both got off on the secrecy of it all. You ran a hand over your face and sighed. Who were you to limit who he was with? You were just a friend. And yeah you could have a say in the sense that you could pipe up at a party, make sure he doesn’t sleep with an STD riddled sorority girl. But to say he wasn’t allowed to be with the woman he was in love with? Nah. You couldn’t be the one getting in his way. You stared up at the ceiling and felt the stress physically taking a role on the space between your shoulder blades and at the bottom of your neck.
Okay so you couldn’t be mad at him for being with Professor Runyon.
You could be mad at another thing though. The most obvious things. You couldn’t be mad at him for who he loved. But you could, you could be mad at him for who he didn’t. You pressed the palms of your hands into your eyes and let out a pitiful laugh.
You could be mad that he wasn’t in love with you.
Fuck you were in love with Lip.
“What a fucking cliché.” You spat into the static air of your dorm room. The stupid girl being head over heels for the oblivious best friend. Your mouth raised in a sneer as you thought it over.
You were in love with Lip. Lip. Love. You love Lip. Your conscious was screaming these words. Over and over.
With a shake of your head as though to clear the thoughts you flung your arms out. Okay. You loved Lip, fine. But you didn’t love how he was acting.
You didn’t love this fuckboy persona he was constantly adopting. This “big dick” player Lip. The one Helene and even Amanda fell over. No, you loved the shit talking Lip, the one that takes the L train every weekend to see and help his family. The big protective Lip that holds his baby brother at three in the morning, Liam’s small body shaking from nightmares as Lip continues to annotate his paper for English. No, you were the only person who really loved Lip Gallagher, because you were the only one that really saw him. And he needed someone who truly sees him at this hearing.
You ran a hand over your face and glanced at the clock again. You still had time to make it to this fucking hearing.
In a haste you grabbed your bag, yanked on your lanyard, and booked it out the door, sprinting to the disciplinary sector of the school. You skidded to a stop as you saw Lip pacing in front of a door on the other end of the hall.
With a deep breath, you strode over to him. He looked up in surprise upon hearing you and stopped his frantic pacing. He cleared his throat and ran a hand through his hair.
“Hey you made it. Didn’t think you’d come.” Lip admitted shoving his hands into his pockets. You still wanted to slap him, but you sighed and set your bag on the metal chair sitting across from the door.
“Wouldn’t miss it. Is Youens inside?” You asked, quietly, fiddling with the lanyard around your neck. Your school ID and keys jingled softly and Lip stared at you. His expression unreadable.
You weren’t one to be shy, weren’t one to show a nervous tick so blatantly. You broke Amanda’s nose without even blinking, yelled at him not even an hour ago, and now you were being shy. Lip blinked a few times trying in vain to understand what that meant for you, what that meant for him.
He cleared his throat and kicked the ground without any real heat behind it.
“Yeah. Just nervous s’all.”
You nodded and rolled your shoulders. Lip watched as you shed away your shyness and became the fearless, trash talking, scrappy girl he knew. Watched as you shed your emotions to be what he needed from you. His heart thudded and he didn’t fucking know why.
“Fuck that. It’ll be easy.” You stepped closer to him and smiled brightly. “It’ll be fine. Professor Youens will be there with you. Just tell them whatever they want to hear. Do not loose your fucking temper. Make sure to blame it on Amanda.” You rambled smoothing the soft blue of Lip’s collar. He let out a huff of a laugh and grabbed your hands that were fidgeting all over him.
“You goin to wait out here?” He mumbled rubbing at his forehead. You sucked your teeth at him and reached up to fix the hairs he tugged down.
“Of course. You’ll get through this. We can get shit faced after, maybe I can break Amanda’s legs. It’ll be a good rest of the day.” You were grasping at straws. All you wanted was to reassure him, calm him down. Every time you spoke it seemed like you were threatening or bad mouthing Amanda, and you saw the sadness in his eyes. He was secretly hurt that she would betray him like that.
Lip nodded and with one last look at you, he walked through the door to his doom. You bit your lip and slowly sunk down on the awful metal folding chair across the hall.
All you could do now was wait.
- - -
Your leg bounced as you took a deep drag of your cigarette. You knew there was no smoking indoors, but you’d be damned if someone tried to take this one comfort away from you. It was all you fucking had left. You let the smoke fill your lungs as you exhaled and blew the white vapor into the static air of the hallway.
The clicking of heels snapped you out of your numb staring and you looked up to see Professor Runyon making her way over to you. You regarded her as you took another drag. Her expression was blank, but you could see in the set of her jaw that she was stressed. You almost smiled as she looked down at you.
“Professor,” you nodded and rested your head on the wall behind you. “I hope it all ends well. Please talk to him if you can.”
She raised an eyebrow at you and looked around nervously.
“Take care of him.” She said quietly, and with that she pushed open the door and walked inside. You blinked up at the empty space she occupied. Well what else have you been doing for the past two years? You huffed out a sarcastic laugh and adjusted your shoulders. You were in deep now weren’t you?
It felt like maybe an hour passed before your thoughts were disturbed by the door opening.
You stood up, wanting to immediately grill Lip on how it went, when instead Professor Runyon briskly walked out. Still composed and professional, but clearly running. You opened your mouth to say something, but she breezed past you, pulling on a beige coat and a scarf.
You blinked a few times and slowly sunk back into the chair before the door banged open again and Lip and Professor Youens walked out. You shot up and looked at them with wide eyes, trying to determine the verdict in their faces. Youens gave you a slight smile, but Lip was hastily tugging on his own coat and looking down the hall at the retreating Professor.
“Helene! Wait!” Lip called jogging after her, completely ignoring you as they both quickly left the building. The big glass door they walked through shining as it slammed close. You blinked a few times and looked down at your bag.
No he fucking didn’t.
You raised your eyebrows and swore openly. Cussing out that fucking bastards name. How dare he. You were the only one who gave a shit about him beside Youens and he couldn’t even look to you.
You yanked your bag and made to storm out of the hall, before Professor Youens put a hand on your shoulder. You snapped your glare to him before dimming it. Your eyes wide, staring into his soft brown ones, you felt more grounded then you did all week. Already visibly calmer he gave you a little smile.
“That boy is probably the biggest idiot I know.” He said, his calming voice washing over you. You closed your eyes for a moment and let out a huff of air.
“I kno-” you began, your anger swelling back up again for that whore you apparently loved.
“But then again so are we.” And with that he turned and left, walking the opposite way and rounding a corner. You stared after him. We’re idiots? What? You blinked a few times, staring at the empty space he used to occupy, and sat back in your pathetic little folding chair.
Youens was a college professor, granted he was a drunk who made Lip do most of his work, but he was a professor and smarter than Lip gave him credit for. And you weren’t exactly a genius, but you worked your ass off and did well, you wouldn’t be here if you couldn’t keep up. Neither of you were idiots. But if you’re going off academic genius, then neither was Lip. You scrunched your nose and glanced at the glass door.
Lip was an idiot because he fucking fucked everyone who looked at him and had no class, and was angry and naïve. Didn’t understand the working world and expected rewards for everything he did. Demanded credit and fell in love with the wrong people, cared too little about people’s feelings and instead what they could do for him.
And you and Youens?
You were idiots for loving him regardless.
You sucked your teeth and crossed your arms. Fuck Youens for making you feel bad, Lip was just a hurt kid in love and he really needed someone right now. You of all people could fucking relate. You let out a sigh and glanced at the glass door again.
Guess it’s time to get this asshole and lick his fucking wounds or something. You threw your bag onto your shoulder and made your way outside.
You spotted him quickly. His tan coat and blonde hair are a pretty big tell. But the biggest, was that he was the only person standing still. Just frozen in the middle of the quad, staring off into the middle distance. You sighed again and slowly made your way to him, making as much noise as possible to not scare him. You were practically stomping before you stopped right behind him.
“Lip?” You mumbled, slowly reaching out a hand. You placed it gently on his shoulder, but he started and spun around quickly, eyes wide.
He looked, uh, you cocked your head at him slightly. He looked like his heart was ripped out of his chest and his smile was thrown away and his happiness was blended up and discarded all right in front of him. He looked absolutely devastated. You pulled your hand off his shoulder and cleared your throat. Gripping and ungripping your bag’s strap, you sighed.
“C’mon. Today’s been rough. Let’s get fuckin wasted.” You said trying to conjure up a smile. It was like Lip was a vacuum and any sense of ease and lightness was destroyed in his presence. You dropped your smile and gripped your bag again. Lip looked only marginally less miserable at the suggestion of booze.
He nodded slightly and you felt yourself returning it. It was going to be fine. You and Lip again, just getting wasted in your dorm rooms like a couple of reckless kids.
As the two of you made the trip back to Lip’s dorm, his shell shocked expression loosened. He wasn’t sad anymore, but fucking angry.
“A year! I met her husband and kid, I was over there all the time. I went on trips with her and kept her drunk ass company! I took care of her! And the only time she looked me in the eye was to tell me to fuck off! She said she was terminating all contact to them! Can you believe this shit?!” He turned to you, hands palm up in front of him, eyes wide and mouth snarled. You could only shake your head as you pushed open the door to his dorm building. You didn’t trust yourself in the slightest to get onto the anti Professor Runyon train. Your dislike for her ran deeper than the offense to the man next to you. Better to keep your mouth shut and not give anything away.
Lip kept cussing and ranting as you climbed the stairs in the cold stairwell. You just kept shaking your head and occasionally mumbling out an, “I know” or “What a bitch”. You weren’t listening. How could you, you were hurt and mad and stressed, worried, and happy all at the same time. You just wanted to get to his dorm so you could drink so much that your brain deteriorated. That’s all you wanted.
You pushed open the doors to his floor and he followed you, still throwing an impressive tantrum. You shook your head for good measure as the door slammed shut behind you.
You blinked back into focus when Lip turned suddenly. You stared at him with wide eyes and he made a lunge to open the just closed door.
“Lip! What the fuck?!” You yelled grabbing him by his sleeves and hauling him back. It doesn’t matter that you could break his arm with ease, he was fueled by pure anger and heartbreak. You didn’t stand a chance. His back was to you, his hand splayed large over the door. It creaked open slowly.
“I need her to fucking understand!” He spat and you couldn’t help the eyeroll that escaped from you. You planted your feet and tugged him harder. He inched backwards and the door slammed shut again.
“She doesn’t want to fucking talk to you!” You spat. You huffed out a frustrated breath and moved your entire body so you were next to him. Still pulling on him you looked at him with a harsh glare. His blue eyes; bright and wild, met yours and you sighed again. With a glance upwards in a silent prayer to whatever god, real or not, that resided above, you punched him swiftly in the dick.
He crumpled to the floor in an instant. His groans of pain and the crash his limp body made, echoed in the small hallway and you fucking sighed again.
You stood over him and glared at him.
“Now you’re going to fucking listen to me!” You spat watching him with a slight snear and his eyes squeezed shut in misery. “Helene cannot talk to you or she will lose her fucking job. This isn’t about you. This is about her money, her passions, her life. You will stay the fuck away from her or you will get her into even more trouble. I know you loved her, but you can get the fuck over it because it’s over. It’s done. The end!”
You finished your rant with a wave of your hands.
You took a few seconds to feel sick satisfaction at watching him in pain. For all the emotional misery he put you through in the last couple hours, it felt nice to return it ten-fold. You cocked your head to the side and finally, kneeled down next to him. He moaned in pain and coughed out pitifully.
“Alright come on. There's ice in your freezer. Let’s go.” Lip only coughed in response. You took that as the gracious “thank you” that it was and helped him hobble to his dorm room. You fumbled with his pockets, trying to find the keys.
“Left one.” He coughed out and you nodded in thanks at him. Swinging the door open you unceremoniously dumped him on his bed, opened the mini fridge, and threw a bag of ice next to him.
He sucked in a shaky breath and gingerly pressed the ice to himself. You smirked slightly and rooted around in his fridge for any alcohol you could find. You pulled out a bottle of vodka that was definitely stolen. You brought it to your mouth and bit the cap off. You spit it at him and he flipped you off in turn.
This was nice. This was normal. Just you and Lip, drinking and lounging around in your rooms. You could do this.
You pulled out another bottle and took that with you. Kicking the fridge closed, you handed him the second bottle.
He seemed to be doing better. His face no longer an alarming shade of red. His breathing evened out and he stared at the ceiling blankly. Better than in pure agony. You shrugged and leaned on his desk, staring at him.
“Are you going to tell me what the verdict was or do I have to punch you again?” You teased making him laugh.
“Yeah. Was uh, was that she terminate all contact. And I lose my job as a RA. Lose this room.” He shuffled back a little so he could prop himself up on his pillows and look at you. You nodded, your eyebrows furrowed.
“Well shit. I’ll drink to that.” You said and took a long, long drink. Lip followed you and you let the horrible taste wash over you.
You didn’t talk for a while after that. Just kept taking long swigs of your drinks and taking turns staring at the floor, or staring at the ceiling.
You let out a little laugh and Lip looked at you quickly. Looking almost scandalized that you would find this funny. You couldn’t help it, the fact that her nudes got leaked was funny as hell for some reason. You clutched your drink tightly and doubled over laughing. Lip stared at you for a few seconds before his own laugh of disbelief joined you. Your twin loud laughs was the only sound in the silent room as you felt tears gathering in your eyes. Lip wasn’t far behind as his face returned to that red color.
“Oh man that’s fucking delightful!” You spit out, still laughing in pure joy. Lip shook his head and let his head fall back in laughter.
“I’m fucked.” He said as he let his own laughter die down into giggles.
You nodded with a grin and you took another sip. Absolutely fucked. The silence settled over your two again. This time it was more awkward than comfortable. You cleared your throat and moved off his desk. Lip raised an eyebrow at you and you stuck your tongue out at him.
You sat on his bed as you took another swig of the cheap vodka. It tasted like rubbing alcohol and fire, but you sucked it down the same. Lip threw his own, now empty bottle at the cushions and it bounced slightly. You smiled slightly at it. Lost in your own thoughts of the events of today. You let out a sigh before you felt the hairs on your arm prick up and you turned to Lip.
He was already staring at you, blue eyes slightly bloodshot, but looking as beautiful as ever. You felt yourself smiling at him. In awe at how much of a beautiful mess he looked. The pair of your breathings was the only thing heard as slowly, so fucking slowly he leaned into you. You sucked in a breath, eyes fluttering close, as his lips covered yours.
You were kissing Lip. You were kissing Phillip fucking Gallagher. The guy you had been trailing over, loving for so fucking long. You moved your hand up to cradle his face. His slight stubble scratching your palm. You were kissing Lip Gallagher. You pressed more into him as your mind wondered like it always did.
You were kissing him immediately right after he got fucking dumped by the woman he loves.
Your mouth turned into a snarl and you jerked back. “I’m not a fucking rebound.” You hissed pushing him off you. You heart thudded in your chest and you prayed he couldn’t hear it.
“I know, I’m just really fucked up right now.” He confessed, rubbing his eyes with the palms of his hands. You narrowed your eyes, yeah fucked up emotionally you bastard. He moved his hands and let out a puff of air. You watched him as his eyes got watery and he quickly rubbed that away too.
God he was fucking wasted.
You blinked a few times as an idea came over you. Lip was fucking wasted.
Your head pounded and you stared at him. He was trashed beyond belief. His eyes closing every few seconds and the dopey smile on his face was all you needed. He was crying a second ago and now he looked like it was his birthday. This was it. Now or never. He would never remember this in the morning.
“I’ve been in love with you for years now.” You stuttered, heart thudding as you twisted the blanket through your hands nervously. Lip bobbed his head in a clumsy nod.
“I know.” He slurred. It felt like a huge weight lifted off your shoulders, as well as an even bigger one clamped down on you and suffocated you. You sucked in a breath and fell back onto Lip’s bed. Fuck he knew. This entire time. And he had the audacity to treat you like this. Fuck him. Fuck this fucking asshole. You were bubbling up to boil over, before Lip’s arm buckled and he fell half on top of you. His mouth open and soft snores emitting. You blinked a few times up at his ceiling in shock. Body stiff as you just laid there with his unconscious body cuddling up to you.
This was the moment then. You could choose to walk out forever and no one could even blame you for doing it. Or you could stay. You could pick up the pieces and help him heal from afar. After all you’ve done that up until this point. What’s a few more years. Hell, what’s the rest of his miserable life. Your nose twitched as you traced the ceiling fan with your eyes.
You had always been the one staring out the window. Even with him. You watched him date these women and fall apart. In your own fucking life you just watched the events unfold. Never did you actually make a decision for you. You thought back to the breaking of Amanda’s nose and couldn’t help but smirk. Well every decision you did make was a violent one.
But.
Where was the getting what you wanted? Where was the heart pounding moments? Where was your own dates with the people you loved?
You made your decision.
You closed your eyes and slowly let yourself relax into the queen size bed. Whatever the outcome of this all, you were breaking the glass and stepping to the otherside. You were fucking staying. You were making your own decisions and finally living. You wanted this. So you were taking it.

“Haha! Classic Appa.”  Y/n’s eyebrows furrowed together as her and Aang walked into the temple that the siblings had been in. Sokka being sick was enough of a worry, him having delusions added another level of it.  “How’s Sokka doing?” Aang asked, as the two of them walked closer.  Katara looked at them, worry clearly written into her features. “Not so good. Being out in that storm really did a number on him.” She paused, looking at Y/n. “You're sure you're feeling alright Y/n?”  When Sokka got sick, Katara and Aang assumed that she would as well since she’d also been out in the storm with him. Turns out living in the forest without proper shelter for several years really amped up her immune system so she was a lot luckier than her friend was. That didn’t stop Katara from expressing concern every time she saw her, though.  “Yes, I’m sure Katara. Save your worry for your brother.”  She nodded, looking over at her brother when he sniffed back his runny nose.  “We couldn’t find any ginger root for the tea, but, we did find a map.” Aang brought out a scroll, and spread it on the ground. “There’s a herbalist institute on the top of that mountain. We could probably find a cure for Sokka there.”  “Aang, he’s in no condition to travel. Sokka just needs more rest. I’m sure he’ll be better by tomorrow.” Katara started to cough after finishing her sentence.  “Oh no.” “Not you too!”  “Relax you two, it was just a little cough. I’m fin-” She cut herself off with more coughing.  Aang took a step back and behind Y/n. “That’s how Sokka started yesterday. Now look at him- he thinks he’s an earthbender!” The three looked over at Sokka, who was swinging at the air. “Take that, you rock.”  Y/n nodded in agreement with Aang. “Yeah. A few more hours and you’ll be just as bad as he is.” She sighed, holding her head in her hand. “I knew you should have let me take care of him.”  Grabbing his glider, Aang went to the edge of the temple. “I’m going to find some medicine. Y/n, can you watch them?” A large flash of lightning cracked in the distance. “Uh, maybe it’s safer to go on foot.”  Y/n, who was getting Katara laid down and comfy, looked at Aang. “Maybe I should go with you, just in case, if you need to get something for an antidote it’ll be faster with the two of us.”  Glancing between her and the sick siblings, he was hesitant to agree. But, Y/n was right, and they should be fine up here. It’s out of the way, the Fire Nation shouldn’t find them. “Hmm.. Alright. Appa, Momo, keep an eye on them.”  Appa grunted, as Y/n joined Aang at the edge of the temple. Sokka laughed. “You guys are killin’ me!”  Aang grabbed onto Y/n, and used his airbending to launch them into the air, before safely landing far down onto the hill.
They’d ran basically the entire way to the herbalist institute, once they got there, they barged in completely out of breath. A cat meowed, and jumped out of their way. Y/n had leaned her hands against her knees, attempting to catch her breath, while Aang babbled off to the herbalist.  “Hello! I’m sorry to barge in like this, but we need some medicine for our friends. They have fevers and they’ve been coughing and-” The herbalist cut off his quick speaking, mixing something in a bowl that sat in front of her. “Settle down, young man. Your friends are going to be fine.” She walked over to another table, where the cat was sitting. “I’ve been up here for over fourty years you know, used to be others, but they all left years ago.” She started to pet the cat, who began to purr in response. “Now it’s just me and Miyuki.” “That’s nice.”  “Wounded Earth Kingdom troops still come by now and again, brave boys, and thanks to my remedies they always leave in better shape than they arrive.” “That’s nice. Are you almost done?”  “Hold on, I just need to ass one last ingredient.” The herbalist walked amongst the shrubbery, looking around and muttering to herself.  Aang was exasperated, Y/n was starting to get the feeling this lady might be nuts.  The herbalist was looking for the ingredient for a while, the two of them just decided to sit themselves while they waited. They both sat with their heads resting on the table.  “Here’s what I was looking for! Plum blossom!” Both of their heads shot up, Aang got up and tried to take the bowl from the woman, but she smacked his wrist making him drop it. “Hands off! What do you think you're doing?” Aang’s eyebrows furrowed together. “Taking the cure for our friends?”  Y/n got up, and moved to stand behind him as the herbalist laughed aloud.  “Ahaha! This isn’t a cure, it’s Miyuki’s dinner.” The woman sat the bowl down on the table in front of Miyuku, the cat began to eat it. “Plum blossom is her favorite.” Aang breathed out a sigh. “What about our friends?”  “Well, all they need is some frozen wood frogs. There’s plenty of them down in the valley swamp.” “Why couldn’t you have mentioned that sooner?!” “What are we supposed to do with frozen frogs?” They spoke at the same time, the herbalist decided to only pay mind to Aang’s question.  “Why, suck on them of course!” Both of their expressions twisted into shock. “What?!” “Suck on them!?”  “The frog’s skin excretes a substance that’ll cure your friends, but make sure you get plenty. Once those little critters thaw out, they’re useless!”  Silence lingered in the air for a moment. Aang broke it.  “You’re insane aren’t you?”  “Thaaat’s right.”  “Wonderful. Aang, let’s go.” Y/n grabbed onto his wrist, and dragged his out of the building so they could go get these frogs. Soon after they left though, a pair of arrows was shot at them. An arrow landed on each side of the two. They looked around, as a large number of arrows zipped through the air at them. Aang used his airbended to blow them away. He reached down and grabbed one of the arrows from the ground, and held it out.  “Uuh, I think you dropped this.”  Both of their eyes widened as several archers surrounded them in the trees above.  Y/n glanced over to her friend. “We should probably run.”  “Yeah.”
Running didn’t do much for them, seeing as the two ended up getting caught by the archers. This was… just great. Their captors had brought them to a Fire Nation base and separated them into different rooms. Y/n had been shackled by her wrist, with two short chains that connected to the floor. She struggled against the restraints, as someone opened the door to where she was being kept.  “Well, well, well, look who it is. I almost didn’t believe it when I was told that not only the Avatar was retrieved but you were as well, Y/n.”  Looking up, she glared at the man, but didn’t say anything.  “I always thought you were a lot of things, a traitor wasn’t one of them. Though I guess coward and traitor go hand in hand.”  Zhao stepped closer to her. “I have to keep the Avatar alive, so he doesn’t reincarnate. But, there’s nothing stopping me from killing you. I’m sure you’d love to join that pathetic mother of yours.”  “Don’t talk about my mother like that.”  He laughed. “Or what? You’ll handstand me to death? Maybe throw in a somersault? I’m so scared.”  She gritted her teeth as Zhao turned on his heel, walking back to the door.  “I have some business to take care of, you’ll be dealt with later.” He slammed the door behind him.  The way he spoke made her think that she would be facing death. Or worse.  Probably worse.
Y/n went to grab the chains that held her in place, but stopped at hearing a commotion outside. “Aang please let that be you…”  The blue masked figure who pushed open the door was definitely not Aang. Though, judging by the knocked out guards in the hallway, they might not be here to kill her. They didn’t say anything as they approached her, and sliced the chains that held her down with their dual swords.  Wait… dual swords?  There was no time to dwell on the thought, the person was already leaving the room. Pushing herself off the ground she followed them, swiftly taking one of the guards' swords on the way out. She followed the masked person through the halls, silently following their stealthy movements.  They approached a hallway with a few guards watching over it. The masked person looked back at her, and nodded their head to the guards, before sneaking to the other end of the hallway. So she needed to deal with these guys, alright. Bringing her bow would have been a big help right now. Though on second thought, it probably would have just gotten taken in her capture.  She carefully slid through the shadows to get closer to the guards. There were only three of them, so this shouldn’t be too hard. Adjusting her grip on the sword, she stepped next to one of the guards and grabbed them by the shoulder. Using the handle of the sword, she jabbed it into a pressure point on the neck, causing the guard to collapse immediately. She ducked under a wave of fire sent her way, taking the chance to crouch and knock a guard to the ground. When his back hit the ground she grabbed onto his head and slammed it into the ground.  Once she knocked out the third guard, the masked person came back, this time dragging Aang by his collar. He perked up, as the masked person released his shirt collar and led them through the building.  “I’m glad you're okay Y/n.” He kept his voice to a whisper.  “Yeah, I could say the same to you.”  The masked person turned to look at them, telling them to be quiet by putting a finger to their mouth. After a bit more sneaking, the person slid down into a large grate, it led to the sewer. Y/n and Aang glanced at each other, before the latter motioned to the grate as a silent way to say ‘ladies first’. She rolled her eyes playfully, tucking the sword she stole into the rope tied around her waist, before slipping through the grate, Aang soon followed. They slid along the wall, as Fire Nation soldiers walked above. The masked person peaked up through some of the grates, they turned to look at the two and motioned upwards before climbing out. They must have gotten to an area clear of soldiers. Y/n grabbed onto the grates and pulled herself up through them, helping a slightly struggling Aang once she was up. The three ran through the base, to a conveniently placed rope that hung from one of the guarding walls. It was probably used to get in. Aang started climbing, the masked person going next, then Y/n last. As they were climbing an alarm sounded through the base.  “There, on the wall!”  A soldier appeared at the top of the wall and cut the rope they were climbing, sending the three falling. Aang shouted, but used his airbending so the three of them had a soft landing. The masked person unsheathed their dual swords, Y/n did the same with the sword she stole, and the trio started running.  “The Avatar has escaped! Close all the gates immediately!”  Aang ran to the front of the trio. “Stay close to me!”  As they got close to the closing gate, a group of soldiers blocked it, but Aang sent a blast of air to blow them out of the way. While he got close to the gate, Y/n and the masked person got surrounded by a group of soldiers. The two engage in battle with the soldiers, fighting together effortlessly. Aang stepped in, and used his airbending again to blow the soldiers away. Using a large gust of air he boosted the masked person up to the top of the gate then did the same to Y/n.  She landed at the top with a roll, knocking down one of the guards by crashing into his legs. By the time she got up, Aang was flying towards them by spinning a makeshift staff above his head. He grabbed onto the masked person by the torso with his legs to fly off with them. Y/n grabbed onto their leg so she didn’t get left behind. While Aang struggled to keep them all afloat, the two used their swords to block the spears being thrown up at them.
The trio barely made it to the next wall, crash landing at the top of the gate. Almost immediately they were engaged in battle. There were three guards, each of them took one on. Y/n was able to shove the guard she fought off the wall of the gate, while the masked person and Aang did as well.  It was a struggle to do so, but they ended up making it to the final gate. Though they were still stuck on the inside, and hadn’t managed to get out yet. A small group of firebenders sent a blast of flames their way, but Aang was quick to push the two behind him and airbend the flames away.  Zhao held his hand up at the soldiers. “Hold your fire! The Avatar must be captured alive.”  The masked person slid up behind Aang, and crossed his swords over his neck. Y/n looked at them with wide eyes, but didn’t do anything. This was a ticket out, Zhao couldn’t risk Aang being killed and this person knew that.  “Open the gate.” Zhao spoke through gritted teeth.  “Admiral, what are you doing?” “Let them out, now!”  The gate opened behind them, and the masked person started to back out with his swords still crossed at Aang’s neck. Y/n backed out with them, keeping her gaze fixated on the soldiers with narrowed eyes. Suddenly, an arrow zipped through the air, and hit the masked person's well… mask. Knocked out, they fell backwards. After recovering from a moment of shock, Aang airbended a large cloud of dust around them.  Curious, Aang reached down to remove the person’s mask, revealing Zuko. Both him and Y/n looked at the Prince with wide eyes, shocked. Aang started to back away, scared, before tripping and falling backwards. Y/n didn’t move, expression contorting to a mix of both shock and concern. What had happened to him…  Aang had started to run away, but halted his steps when he realized Y/n wasn’t following. “Y/n, we have to go!”  “We can’t leave him...” Mumbling, she hooked her arms under Zuko’s and started to drag him along the ground, in the direction Aang had started running. The other hesitated for a moment, before he came over to help her.
They’d found safety in the nearby forest. After laying Zuko down on the ground, Aang took a seat on a nearby root.  “I’ll stay here until he wakes up, you should get back to Katara and Sokka and make sure they're alright. I’ll get the frozen frogs on my way back.”  Y/n’s gaze bounced between the two. “Are you sure, Aang? I can stay if that would make you feel better.”  He shook his head. “I’d feel better knowing all my friends are safe. Zuko is dangerous, I don’t want to risk you getting hurt or worse.”  “...Alright.”  She was hesitant, but left the two and made her way back to the temple Katara and Sokka were at. They seemed to be doing fine, or as fine as they could be while sick. Aang returned not too long after Y/n, and put a frozen frog in Katara and Sokka’s mouths.  “Suck on these. They’ll make you feel better.” Aang collapsed onto Appa’s tail with a sigh. Y/n looked at him with a concerned expression.  “Are you okay, Aang?”  He offered a silent nod.  “How was your trip? Did you make any new friends?” Sokka’s words were slightly muffled, from the frog in his mouth.  “No, I don’t think so.” Aang rolled over, facing away from the others.

Living thousands of years did wonders for a person. You learn to hold little attachments, unless it’s something that will last forever as well. You learn to think about things in a different light- learn to protect what you wish to keep. You learn that things change with time, and things will always change. That it’ll never stay the same. Don’t get too attached to something when it has a short lifespan. It’s not worth the pain.
So why couldn’t he stop himself?
Hands entwined, laughs exchanged. He was god- the Geo Archon. So why was he getting attached to a mere mortal? It wasn’t for the money, Childe supplied him. The money he used on them. . . was his own. It was a shock- and yet here he was. Utterly powerless. How could he have lost the order he held to himself to someone like that? He wouldn’t have guessed. Parties, dinners, late nights out. All held well- all deeply cherished. The two would go see the lanterns every year. One year. . . Two years. . . Three. . . Ten. . . Twenty. . . Thirty. . . Fourty. . . None. From spending the days holding each other to nights spent alone, it was almost as if he had run into the back of a Ruin Guardian. How could he let himself get distracted? How could he let time slip away? They were gone- No more, no longer. He was too caught up in the moment- Why did he not think? Just. . . Think. He should’ve made them an Adepti- He should’ve made sure that they never passed. That they could stay together. He wasn’t ready to let go. He had forgotten the main reason why he never tried to love. Because he would lose them, no matter the cost. He would not make them an Adepti- He didn’t want them to live on while their friends and family died around them.
But he always cherished when they were together. He cherished the times he had spent in the moment, holding them close as they both sipped at their hot cup of tea while watching the sun rise, or leisurely strolls watching the life of Liyue move about the evening. Or perhaps it was the simple moments, gently untangling their hair as they curled up in his lap while he read. They never made a comment on him being an Archon. They had found out three years into their relationship- saying that would be ridiculous if a mere title had changed everything so quickly. They had said the same when they entered the relationship with him. He could only smile and be thankful. He never saw the eyes of someone who wishes to be favoured by Rex Lapis, but the eyes of someone who was utterly in love with their husband. Soft touches were the result of adoration, not fear of being unworthy. Tender kisses shared between the busy moments of life, hand squeezing during lunches with others, linking pinkies when traversing the busy streets of the harbour. The little things made him forget who he was- forget what he was. He was human, and he would live his life to the end with them.
It was a mistake he had forgotten- that he had fallen in love in the first place. They say to never fall in love, but only to be in love. Because if you fall? You may never get up. But that was a risk he took, more jumping than falling. He’s okay with it. He was. And he still is. He may miss them, of course he does. He still loves them. He won’t let go- no matter how many more years pass. He couldn’t, and wouldn’t. He didn’t truly feel regret, knowing they would have wanted this. He wants them to be happy, and he is not sacrificing his own happiness as he continues on with life. He may be an eternal loner, but only by appearances. And that was alright.

Pairing: Bucky x 40’s reader
Warnings:Fluff and angst
Summary:Bucky goes back in time on a mission with Sam to fix a mistake and ends up running into the woman he loved before Hydra found him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“So let me get this straight, Strange fucked this up, but you’re asking us to fix it?” Sam asked heavily confused
“Well Bucky comes from that time period and you two have been joined at the hip since Steve left,so yeah! You’ll be fixing it.” Doctor Strange said
“Typical. Cleaning up after everyone once again” Sam growled, but Bucky had been quiet the whole time.
Something happened two weeks ago, a memory had resurfaced and Bucky was in complete heartbreak when it had happened. He remembered a young woman back home in Brooklyn, New York. She was gorgeous and Bucky had left her behind with the intention on marrying her when he got back. However, Bucky never came back.
Bucky couldn’t help but think about what would of happened if Steve reached out farther earlier on or what would of happened if he wasn’t standing so close to the edge of the train car. Maybe he would’ve returned with Steve and watched him marry Peggy. Bucky couldve had a life and married his little lady with eyes that sparkled like the Diamond he had been thinking of giving her.
They joined Scott on the standing pad with Strange aswell. Apparently they were going just a bit past the fourties, they were heading to the fifties to fix a glitch that Strange had caused. They safely transferred between now and then and came out looking at the old school look of New York.
“Man! You grew up here?” Sam asked
“I miss it so much.” Bucky mumbled
The duo had just came across to the pinpointed location when a familiar head of hair caught his eye. She was just as gorgeous as he remembered, how he wished to stay here with her.
“Whos the girl?” Sam asked with pure concern
“The woman I wanted to marry. Y/n” he whispered
“I’m sorry man.” Sam said sadly as he watched his friend with pure empathy. It wasn’t easy having everything took from you and Sam tried his hardest to see him through.
Only now watching his friend pine over a girl he always wanted was breaking his heart.
“Why don’t you go talk to her?” Sam asked
Bucky shook his head as he looked down.
“She won’t ever remember me.” Bucky sighed
“Hey man, this is probably going to be the only time you’ll be able to do this. As soon as this mission is done, they’re bringing us back so go talk to her. You owe her that much.” Sam says
Bucky just looks up in time to see you look at the two with pure confusion until you see those familiar crystal blue eyes and the next thing the two know, you’re running towards them.
“Bucky?” You ask as you are two feet in front of him.
“Hey, doll.” He smiled
Sam gently backs up giving you two some space, sitting on the curb and watching as his friend is reunited with his long lost love.
“Is that really you? You look a lot older than you left.” She giggled
“It’s me, doll. However you wouldn’t believe me if I told you what I had been through.” He smiled
“Oh you must think I’m such a cold lady. My name is y/n” she said as she stuck a hand out towards Sam.
“Nice to meet you, Y/n. My name is Sam.”
“I never thought I’d see you again.” Y/n says to Bucky making his heart flutter.
“I’m here now, doll.” He smiled
“Do you still intend to keep your promise?” She asked without a clear idea on why the two were there in the first place.
Sam saw Bucky stiffen and he took it as a time to step in.
“Now as much as I’d love to see Bucky here get married,I’m afraid he won’t be able to.” Sam sighed
Bucky’s heart broke as he watched y/n become saddened and less cheerful.
“Oh. I understand.” She fake smiled
Bucky felt his heart shatter as she refused to look at them.
“Well I’m terribly busy, so I’ll just let you two get back to work then. Good evening, gentlemen.” And just like that, y/n was gone and Bucky released a broken sigh. His voice wavered and he began to shake. His eyes were now red and his cheeks were now wet.
“Please comeback” he whispered at your retreating form.
Sam felt horrible seeing his broken friend. He didn’t think she’d be that upset and that quick. However when Bucky continued on with their tasks, Sam could see the odd tear fall down onto his hand. As soon as they pulled away, Sam saw the pure heartbreak on his face.
“Look man, I don’t know how to say this, but maybe you should go find her. I’ll finish this and I’ll send the signal after and we can go home.” Bucky took a deep breath and started down the streets towards your apartment and came up the stairs to where you lived.
When you opened the door, you saw the broken man you loved. The poor man has been through so much and all he wanted was you, but he knew he couldn’t have you.
“Bucky?”
“Can we talk?” He asked quietly
You nod and allow him entry and he immediately spills everything.
“Look. I went off to war, I was taken prisoner by Hydra and experimented on and was saved by Steve. We then took out any Hydra members we could find and when we received word that a certain someone was on a train, we looked to capture him. Only I ended up falling off towards what I thought was my death. However with whatever Hydra had put in me, I survived. The next thing I know is that I was taken hostage again and gave a new arm to replace my left one from the fall off the train. I then spent over 70 years with Hydra, or at least that’s what they keep telling me. I did a lot of bad things, y/n and I’m not proud of it. Then I became an avenger and I stood up to a monster called Thanos who took over planets and wiped out half the population and I ended up dying and then coming back five years later, but it only felt like five minutes for me. I’m one hundred and seven now, doll. I missed out on everything I ever wanted. Including you. We came back in time to fix something that had happened and now I’m heading back home.” Bucky says
“I honestly can’t understand a thing you just said.” Y/n felt insulted. It was like the world was playing twisted tricks on her.
“Remember how I said I lost my arm?” He removed his jacket and glove and a shiny black and gold metal arm stood in place for where his arm should’ve been.
You fall into a chair as everything became clear. This was really Bucky and what he had said was true.
“Believe me doll. I don’t wish to be anywhere but at a church marrying you, but I can’t stay” Bucky says
“I understand.” You whisper
“I’m sorry.” He sniffled
“Don’t worry about it, Bucky. Just go back to Sam and worry about your future.” You say as you get up and head to the bedroom.
Bucky frowns as turns to head back. His eyes catch a glimpse of a picture sitting in a frame. A simpler time to be exact.
A picture of you and Bucky.
“You can keep it, if you want.” You say
Immediately,Bucky takes the picture and shoved it into his inside pocket and smiled
“Thank you for everything, Bucky” you say as you hug him.
“I’m sorry it can’t be the way we wanted it” he says
“Go and take care of the future, Barnes.”
He looked down at you and smiled before kissing you for what felt like years and pulling back before leaving the apartment.
When he approached Sam, he smiled weakly and then the two were brought back to normal times and Bruce, Strange,Peter and Carol were there to welcome the two back.
“Nice work, boys” Carol says
Bucky opens his jacket and pulls the picture out as he walks back to his room smiling down and the photo.
His lovely little lady. The woman he couldn’t have, but still loved. Never thought that life would be this cruel
Youtube Star (Muggle AU) (Parts 1-3)
Wednesday
Remus thought it was absolutely hilarious when the kids in his class were talking about the new video that Sirius Black had uploaded the day before, especially when one of them asked if he watched the latest. This specific set of questions had started when Remus had accidentally shown his screen saver- a selfie of him and Sirius, which Remus had taken right after making a corny joke, so Sirius was laughing in the photo- to a student while checking a text from said husband. It had sparked so many rumors that he still got bombarded with questions, and the slip up was over three months ago.
"So, Mr.Lupin did you watch Sirius Black's new video? He uploaded one last night!"
Yeah, I spent three hours helping him edit it and pick out the topic.
"No, I don't watch his content."
---------------------------------------------
"Turns out Sirius Black is married! Did you know that?"
Yeah, I was the one who put his ring on.
"Nope, that's very cool. Now do your work."
---------------------------------------------
"Did you go to his meet and greet in London last week?"
Yeah, I was backstage for ten hours waiting for him to finish talking to all of you.
"No, I went to the park."
--------------------------------------------
He ended up having to change the lock screen so the students wouldn't try to go through his phone. He was just lucky none of his students had noticed the ring on his right finger matched the one shown on accident multiple times in some of Sirius' videos. He knew if the students found out then they would never get any work done, so Sirius agreed to keep it a secret.
That is until one morning Remus frogot his lunch at their house, and he only has twenty minutes to eat but their house is thirty minutes away. He decided to go without it, not wanting to make his students miss the test they had the next class. The period ended and he checked his phone, noticing a text sent almost fourty minutes ago.
Sirius❤-You left your lunch at home, can't have my Moony starving. I'll bring it over there.
He rubbed his face with one hand and listened outside, realizing the hall was louder than usual and there was laughter along with a heavy clacking sound that he knew belonged to the black combat boots of his husband.
"Who's that bag for?" Came from the hall, quite muffled due to the wooden door and chattering students.  He stood up and stretched, and walked over to the door, opening it slowly.
He immediately spotted the thick black curls down to the shoulders, wearing Remus' favorite outfit. Plain black jeans that hugged his legs, a chain dangling from one of the belt loops to the closest pocket, and one of Remus' dark green jumpers over top. The black hem of a band t-shirt just visible under the v-neck. He was also wearing a tad bit of eyeliner, which made Remus think he was even hotter. He was taking pictures with the students lining up in front of Remus' door, waiting for their next lesson with him. At the sound of the door opening, Sirius looked away from the camera and spotted the fluffy sandy colored hair and freckles covering his husband's face. He took the picture, muttered an "Excuse me." and ducked from underneath the outstretched student's hand. He walked past the rest of the line up to Remus, who was blushing terribly and had an eyebrow raised. "Yes, Black?" He inquired, and Sirius snorted.
"That's Lupin-Black to you, love." He replied, and placed a soft kiss on Remus' lips. Remus put a hand on his cheek and let the kiss last a second longer before he pulled away and gestured to the shocked expressions across the students' faces. "You know they had a test today, right?"
Sirius smiled and shook his head. "You did not tell me that. Sorry, love." He kissed Remus again and lifted up his hands, showing a paper bag with 'Moony❤' on the front. Remus rolled his eyes affectionately and took the bag. "Thanks, love." He looked back at the students. "I think you broke them," Remus told Sirius, who also turned around to look at the students' faces.
All of the kids who followed or knew of Sirius had their mouths open almost comically. Sirius let out a bark of laughter and turned back to Remus. "What, did you take your ring off?" Remus shook his head and held up his hand, showing Sirius that he still had on his identical ring. A student gasped and grabbed both of their hands, comparing the rings. "You alright there, Lavander?" Remus asked, and the bell rang. Sirius went to leave but the students wouldn't let him, blocking him from leaving the hall. The students in Remus' class ushered the two into the room, not giving them a chance to leave.
It wasn't that big of a shock that they were gay. Both of them had been public about it, actually. Remus wore little pins with pride flags on his jumpers often and would hand them out if a student asked. And Sirius' video with him coming out had gotten well over 10 million views. It was just the fact that their soft academia teacher who liked books, tea, minimal social contact, wearing oversized jumpers, and poems is married to the complete opposite. A grunge YouTuber who loved coffee, wearing band shirts and chains, adored being in the spotlight, and always had on some form of makeup.
After they had practically forced the door closed and sat in their assigned seats, Remus' couldn't help but chuckle. "I must say, this is the most focused I have seen them all year." Sirius laughed and sat on the edge of the teachers' desk, till Remus lightly pushed him off. He hopped off and eyed Remus. "Ok, where do you suppose I sit then?" He asked, and Remus got a cheeky grin, gesturing to an empty student seat in the front row.  "I am twenty-seven, not fourteen." Sirius scowled but took the seat, the students' eyes following him because Sirius Black, a youtube star, is in our classroom and is now sitting five feet from us.
Remus called their attention to the front of the room, but the students still glanced over a Sirius every few moments. "Ok, if we can get through this lesson, we can spend the last twenty minutes of class questioning my husband and me but only if you take some notes. I'll push your test back to tomorrow." A few of the students clapped, and Sirius did too, earning an eye roll and a shhh from Remus. Sirius chuckled but remained quiet during the class because he knew how much teaching meant to Remus. The kids still stole looks at Sirius whenever they could manage, but he kept his eyes on Remus the entire time, enjoying the sparkle he got whenever Remus did something he loved, not just teaching.
The class was surprisingly focused. Remus expected them to not shut up, but it was the complete opposite. Every eye was on him, but he was avoiding a specific set that normally would not be in there. He knew they were probably turning back to Sirius when he wrote something on the board. He ended up being done with the notes in only twenty minutes, giving them half an hour to question them. "Ok, we're done with notes. You can start asking questions."
The students began immediately. There were so many and they were so loud neither adult could make out the words except for few parts.
"Can-"
"Video-"
"Star-"
"Ring-" And that was basically all they could hear.
Sirius got up from where he was sitting and moved back to the teachers' desk, and didn't get shoved off this time. Instead, Remus came over and sat next to him. While the students were shooting their rapid-fire questions, Sirius turned and whispered in Remus' ear, "How often are they like this?" Remus whispered back, "Only when they talk about you, so I'd say all the time." Sirius just chuckled in response. The kids had stopped asking questions by then, so they were just staring at them while they had their short, whispered conversation. "Ok, since you guys stopped asking questions, please ask one at a time," Remus asked, and the students began the questions, just slower.
"Can you post a video so everyone knows?"
"Is his the voice the one in videos from a different room?"
"Since when did you like youtube stars?"
"How come you never showed us your ring?"
"How long have you been married?"
"Forget that, how long have you been together?"
And a lot more. After they stopped talking again, Remus and Sirius began answering questions.
"We've been together for twelve years, married for eight," Sirius told them, and a couple of kids swore because he started making videos ten years ago and nobody realized that he was married for the majority of that time. "How come you didn't mention it?!" A girl from the back shouted, and Sirius chuckled. The two kept answering questions until they got to the last one. "Are you going to make a video making it public?" One boy asked, and the two adults glanced at each other. "Er, I don't know. It's up to Remus, really." Sirius told them, then checked his watch. He jumped off the desk quickly. "Shit, I have to go. I have that meeting in about ten minutes." He placed a chaste kiss on his lips, then waved to the students. He opened the door, waved one last time to Remus, and left. The students in class turned expectantly to Remus, but they didn't get a chance to speak because the bell rang. It was the end of the day since it was an early let out.
A few of the kids in the school who drove managed to get pictures of Sirius on his motorbike, waving at them before he sped off, none of them knowing what he was doing there.
When Sirius got home two hours later, Remus was sitting on the couch, reading a book. After a small discussion, they went to bed, excited for the next day.
Friday
"Quiet down! Quiet down, everyone!" Remus began the class, attempting to call attention to the rowdy group of kids. After they all stopped talking, Remus began his speech. "Since you, all got great marks yesterday, you can have a free day today. Do whatever you like, just stay in your seats and please remain quiet." He sat down at his desk, leaving the students to their own devices. A girl stood up and walked to the front of the room where Remus's desk was. He looked up when she was standing next to him.
"Can I help you, Lavander?" He asked, and she smiled. "Actually, professor, I was hoping I could play a video on your computer?" She asked. Remus, who already knew what video she wanted to play, agreed. She searched up the video titled 'Introducing... My Amazing Husband!' and paused it before it started, turning back to the class. "Have any of you seen this yet?" She asked, and everybody shook their heads. "Good."  She pressed play and sat down, every eye on the projected screen.
Sirius was in his normal chair, his hair in a bun and wearing an oversized jumper and multiple rings on his fingers, giving a mixed vibe. "Ok. It's on. Hi guys! So yesterday, I went to visit my husband at work so I could drop off the lunch he forgot. He does that often."
"No, I don't!" A muffled voice came from behind the closed door, and Sirius snickered and swiveled his chair to face the door as he cupped a hand over his mouth. "Whatever you say, Moony!" He called back before turning his chair again to look at the camera.
"Anyways, I brought him his lunch and his students found out. So when I got home from a meeting later that night, we talked a little. And did more."
"Sirius!" Another muffled shout. Sirius just laughed in response. "Ok, ok! But my dear husband has decided that he is okay with everyone knowing who he is. So, will you come in here, love?"
The door opened to reveal Remus, standing in plaid pajama pants and cropped band shirt hanging just above the waistband of his pants. Sirius eyed him as he came into the room, sitting in Sirius' lap.
"Did you really have to wear my crop top? You know it distracts me." Sirius told him, wrapping his arms around Remus' waist. "Yes. Yes, I did. It's payback for when you wore it and you knew I had to grade papers." Remus responded, and Sirius let out a short bark of laughter. "Fine."
He looked at the camera again, gesturing to the man in his lap. "So, this is my husband. And I wanted to show some videos of a younger us, which Remus has agreed to show. Isn't that right, dear?" Remus nodded and Sirius pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. "Please be warned that there is some blood in a couple of these videos, I just figured I should tell you in case that stuff freaks you out," Sirius explained.
The footage changed, showing the two as teens, seventeen at the oldest. It was light out and looked to be around summertime. Both were only wearing swimming shorts. Sirius' were dark green and Remus' was a light blue. There was a large tattoo of the star constellation, Sirius, over his heart and the alchemy symbol for water on his right bicep. Remus had phases of the moon tatted on the inside of his right forearm.  They were standing on a roof, the footage shot from the ground. "Jump! Jump, Sirius, jump!" The cameraman yelled, and Sirius nodded enthusiastically while tying his long hair into a bun using the scrunchie on his wrist.
"Of course! You know I always will!" Remus grabbed his hand as soon as he let go of his hair, yelling back. "Absolutely not, James! I don't care if it's onto a trampoline, he will not be jumping off a roof! Peter didn't, so neither will he." Sirius gave a mischievous glance towards the camera then back to Remus, whose eyes widened.
He quickly tried to free his grasp, but Sirius clenched his hand tightly. "No, no no! Sirius Black, I swear on Merlin's saggy tits if you-" his promise was cut short by his own screaming. Sirius ran off the roof at a sprint, dragging Remus with him. The camera followed them as best as possible considering how fast they were falling.
Their hands broke free when they landed, and Sirius bounced away, almost falling off the edge of the trampoline had he not grabbed the metal. He climbed back over and jumped over to Remus, who was laying on his back in the middle. He rolled over him, pushing himself up by his legs and arms overtop of Remus. "Ok there, Rem?" He asked, and Remus huffed, staring away from Sirius.
"No! You could have bloody well killed me!" Sirius laughed and shook his head. "No, I couldn't have. It's barely a ten-foot jump. You've done worse." Remus huffed again and crossed his arms to the best of his ability since Sirius was still hovering over him. Sirius changed his position, moving his legs so he was basically sitting on top of Remus. He used one hand to cup Remus' cheek and force him to look him in the face. "You fell for me." Remus smiled slightly and cupped Sirius' cheek back. "Why, I suppose I did. But that didn't have a bad consequence, so I don't really see how that's worse." Sirius ignored the last bit and brought his face down to Remus' kissing him, who eagerly kissed back. A boy with brown hair jumped over them, causing them to bounce away from each other, and Remus really did fall off the edge.
Sirius got over there as fast as possible, jumping off the trampoline. James followed him on the ground. Sirius was helping up Remus, who was holding his face with a hand. It looked like he had hit his face into a nearby lawn chair, which had blood on the leg. "Please, let me see." Sirius pleaded with him, and Remus winced as he pulled his hand away, exposing the wound. The large gash went from his left jaw diagonally up to the bridge of his nose. It was an angry red but the color was almost purple around the edges and bled freely.
"Peter! Get the car! We have to go to the hospital!" Sirius called, and Remus put the hand back over his face. The boy with light brown hair ran past the camera to the cars, apologizing over and over. And the camera changed scenes.
Now it was dark out, the stars lighting up the night sky along with fairy lights strung up. The people there were dressed in fancy dresses or long-sleeved collared shirts and slacks. One woman had red hair tied into an elegant bun, adorned with pins that sparkled, had on a wedding dress that was to the floor and flowy. The bodice was covered in jewels that shone when the light reflected off of them. She was dancing with an eighteen-year-old Sirius.
"You really do look beautiful, Lily," Sirius told her before spinning her around and dipping her. She giggled and replied with a "And so do you, Sirius." They kept dancing for a moment until Lily looked away and then quickly turned back to him. "So?" She asked, and Sirius raised an eyebrow. "So what?"
Lily rolled her eyes and gestured to two guys dancing, one in a tux and one wearing black slacks a light blue collared shirt. The one in a tux had glasses and unruly black hair that looked like it had a bad attempt at flattening it. The man in the blue shirt had a large scar across his cheek from his jaw to his nose and freckles covering his face. His soft honey-colored hair was fluffy and hanging over his face. They seemed to be laughing and having fun as they spun each other around. "When are you going to propose to Remus?" She asked, and Sirius stopped for a moment before he continued the small patterned dance.
"How did you know about that?" It was in a hushed tone, but the camera still picked it up. "I was in your flat getting the planner that James left, and I found it when I looked in the couch cushions. Turned out the book was under your bed." She was practically laughing as she told him, purely because of the shocked face. "Besides, it's not like it's a big secret, anyway. You give him this look every time you see him, and he does the same. I'm surprised he hasn't proposed to you yet." Sirius contemplated her words for a moment and offered a small smile. "Thanks, Lils. Oh! I think James wants to dance with you." He nodded his head behind her at the man with black hair.
He held out his hand to Lily and bowed. "Can I have this dance, my dear wife?" Lily giggled and freed herself from Sirius' arms, taking his hand. "Why you can, my dear husband." James chuckled and led her away from Sirius. Remus took her spot, resting his head on Sirus' shoulder as Sirius put both hands on Remus' waist. "Hello, love. Enjoying the wedding?" Sirius asked, and Remus shrugged.
"No matter how many times James said he would marry her, I never actually thought it would happen," Remus spoke freely, and Sirius laughed at the bluntness. "I don't blame you. It took him six years for a date, and I was worried he would screw something up at one point." Sirius responded, then caught sight of the camera on them, and his eyes widened. He murmured something to Remus and let go, walking to the camera.
"Peter! How much did you get?" Sirius asked, staring straight at them. "Almost all of your dance with Lily." The person behind the camera responded, and Sirius groaned and ran a hand through his hair, glancing back at Remus. "Please don't show this to Remus, I don't know when I'm going to do it, and I definitely don't want Remus to find out because you showed him this video." Peter spoke again, "Of course not, Sirius. I wouldn't want to ruin your plan."  "Thanks, Petey." Sirius flashed a grateful smile then walked back to Remus, spinning him around twice before dipping him and kissing him madly.
The screen changed again, showing young kids all wearing black shorts and white t-shirts, holding water guns. It looked like James, Lily, Peter, Remus, and Sirius in a line, in that order. They looked to be about fifteen and were standing in a large grassy field, a large stone manor off to the side. "Mum, are you recording?" A young James asked and someone out of shot responded. "Yes, hun. Am I going to be recording this entire thing?" James nodded eagerly and started talking. "Ok, I don't know if this will ever be put somewhere public, but we're recording this because we want to. Maybe we can show our future kids. Eh, Evans?" He turned to the redhead next to him and she sighed, rolling her eyes.
"Really, Potter? I'm only here for Remus, and that's cause he's almost my brother. I am not here for your terrible attempts to get a date." She huffed and moved in between Remus and Peter to escape James. "Alright, I'll leave you alone. But anyway, it is our dear Remus' birthday and being the genius that he is, came up with the best idea for us to do. Tie-dye war!" He held the water gun above his head, the dark liquid sloshing around inside.
"All of our water guns are filled with a different tie-dye color. So we are going to put these goggles on so we don't get any in our eyes- Sirius will you get the goggles?" Sirius walked off-screen, coming back a moment later and passing out the goggles.  He returned to his spot in line and snapped his own pair on. "So. How this works is we just shoot each other until everyone is colored. The person at the end of the game who has the whitest shirt gets to give each one of us a dare later tonight when it gets dark and we set up a fire. Does everyone agree?" James looked down the line and got smiles and nods from everyone. "Ok, then. Mum, on the count of three?" He looked toward the camera as he said it, and the woman behind it immediately started the countdown.
"Three... Two... One... GO!!"
All of them took off, running in different directions trying to hide. Remus, before taking off, managed to shoot each of them with a long stripe down their backs, so that if they stood in a line you could see it. He ran to the side, hiding behind a large tree out so the camera didn't see him. There was a loud shriek, however. Remus ran out from behind the tree, Sirius following right behind him, shooting him with the gun so his back had turned into splatters of navy blue. Remus ran behind a large rock, out of Sirius' view. So he turned his attention to Lily, who was standing near a mound of wildflowers. Her eyes widened almost comically wide, and Sirius aimed for her shirt.
As he shot the dye, Lily was shoved out of the way by James, "Noooooooo." whose front was now almost completely blue as he laid in the grass. Lily knelt down beside him. "Why are you so dramatic?" She placed a kiss on his cheek then ran off, leaving him to be attacked by Remus, who had now left his place from behind the rock to take his turn at the sitting duck. No one noticed Peter and Lily from behind the trees, sneaking up on the group. Then they yelled, "CHARGE!!" and everything was fair game. Hot pink and navy blue and dark green and pastel blue and mint green were flying through the air, all of the colors landing on the others. Well, on most of the others. When the game was finished, Remus had won with his shirt only partly covered in color, the majority of his front was white. The others were completely covered in a mix of colors, hardly any white spots.
They stood back in the line, eyeing Remus with jealousy as James' mother declared him the winner.
TW: Mentions of Child abuse, blood
It was dark again, and they all had blankets wrapped around them, huddling in front of a fire. The camera shifted a bit then was still. "James, honey. I'm going inside to make sure dinner is done, your father will be home soon. The camera is set up in that chair so it can see you all. Don't do anything too reckless." The woman's voice was back. James smiled and looked above the camera. "Thanks, mum. I love you." "Love you too, James."
"OK, since I won, I get to give you each dares!" Remus bounced to his feet and the others groaned. "Should have known you were going to win, mate. You're too smart for your own good." Remus chuckled at Peter's remark and walked around the circle, eyeing them as he passed. He stopped in between Lily and James, smirking at them. Lily's smile dropped. "Remus Lupin I swear to Merlin if you do what I think you're going to do-"
"Oh, don't worry Lily. This is in your favor. Kind of." He waved her off with his hand. "Lily, I dare you to kiss James." Lily looked shocked, and James was elated. She stuttered, and Remus bent down to whisper something in her ear. He stood back up and smiled, but Lily only returned a glare. "Fine. I'll do it." She stood up and took a step closer to James, pecked his lips for less than five seconds, and sat back down. James had a large grin on his face, as did Remus.
"Ok, James. Your turn. I dare you to not ask Lily out for two months." James' grin fell and Sirius roared with laughter at his face. James glared at Remus and huffed. "Ok, then. Only cause it's your birthday. And cause it's getting a little old." Remus' grin spread and he walked back to Peter. "I know you don't like anybody, so I'm giving you something different. Jump off the tree. The small one, of course. I don't want you getting hurt." Remus motioned to the short tree next to them, and Peter stood up, dropping the blanket on the ground where he was.
He walked over slowly, climbing up as high as he could, which was only about four feet off the ground since it was a small tree. "You'll be fine, Petey!" Sirius called at his hesitation, and he yelled back, "Ok!" before jumping off. He rolled once he reached the ground, spinning once or twice before he stopped, sitting on his knees. He held his head for a moment before staggering up and back to his spot on the ground. Sirius clapped him on the back and looked to Remus, who sat beside him.
"Ok, Remmy boy. What's my dare?" Sirius asked, and Remus put a  hand on his chin in mock contemplation. "Kiss me." It was clear what he said, but Sirius still exclaimed in shock. "What?" Remus stumbled over his words at the reaction but stopped the moment Sirius grabbed the top of his shirt and smashed their mouths together roughly, getting catcalls and wolf whistles from the other three. Sirius pulled apart, breathing heavily and still holding onto his shirt.  "Was that a good dare?" Remus asked, and Sirius responded by kissing him again.
The footage changed once again. The room was filled with candles and it looked romantic. Sirius was standing in a white button-down and black slacks, his hair neatly parted. "Remus, can you come in here for a moment, love?" Sirius called, and a voice came from behind the door. "Just a minute, Siri! I'm making dinner!"
"This is more important than dinner!"
"Fine, fine!"
Remus came into the room, wearing just a jumper and jeans. He looked around at the candles, breathless. "Holy shit, Pads. This is amazing." He stepped forward cautiously, making sure to not knock any over. He looked Sirius up and down before practically jumping on him and kissing him madly. After a moment he put his feet back on the floor, still holding onto Sirius' shoulders and their foreheads together. "This is so beautiful, Sirius. I don't deserve this."
"You deserve the world, Remus. That's why I did this. And also so I could teach you to dance." He moved them into a waltz position, one hand holding onto Remus' hand and the other on his hip. Remus copied the position. "I know I suck, but why teach me?" Sirius chuckled and began the movements with no music. "We may need it someday. You never know." He placed a kiss on his nose and spun him, making a candle knock over. But it didn't catch on fire. Sirius took note of the shocked face and chuckled. "The ones on the floor are fake, I know how clumsy you are."
The footage changed once more, with a Sirius sitting in front of the camera and adjusting it, his dark hair curtaining his face. "Love, what are you doing?" Remus's tired voice came from behind, and Sirius finished with the camera, backing up and sitting next to Remus on a light blue couch, grabbing his hand. Both were sitting in Christmas pajamas and a tree was in the background, the colorful lights standing out against the grey walls. It had to be the previous Christmas or the one before since both men looked almost the exact same.
"Sirius, it is eight-thirty in the morning. I want to go to sleep. So, please, tell me what I'm doing so I can pass out until we have dinner with Peter, James, Lily, and Harry. I'm quite sure Marlene and Dorcas are going to come. And there's no doubt that Lily invited Frank and Alice, who are going to bring Neville. So that's seven other adults and two children. I need energy for this bullshit."
Sirius chuckled, kissing Remus' hand quickly. "Yes, love. I know. But I wanted to film a video while I had the idea. And I won't even think of posting it till you're comfortable with being out." Sirius smiled at Remus, who rolled his eyes. "Fine. What this amazing idea you had to wake me up for."
Sirius let go of Remus' hand to turn around and pick up a notepad that was sitting on a table just behind the couch. "Terrible pick-up lines." He grinned, and Remus groaned, grabbing a throw pillow and pressing it over his face. "Do you really have to? On this Holy day?"
His voice was muffled by the pillow, which just made Sirius chuckled again.
"Yes. You know I'm an atheist. So come one then, love. It'll be fun."
Remus took the pillow off his face, grumbling, "Tell me why I married you again."
"Because I'm handsome and you love me." Sirius grinned, and Remus grumbled something the camera didn't pick up. But it was enough to turn Sirius a tad bit pink. "Well yes, that too. But anyways."
Remus smiled at his flustered husband and looked at the camera, eyebrow raised. "So are you just going t say random pick-up lines, or are they all Christmas themed?"
Sirius shrugged, running over the list. "Little of both. I just wanted to see your reaction to some of these, considering you don't get embarrassed easily."
"I probably will since one, it's you and I'm one hundred percent sure that at least three-quarters of those are going to be dirty, and two it's on camera so you will definitely be using this against me in the future."
"Nah. Only half of them are dirty. So, can I start asking them?"
"Fire away, love."
Sirius smiled and kissed Remus quickly, then pulled his finger down the line until he found one that made him smirk. Remus' own smiled dropped lightly, trying the read the list upside down before Sirius pulled it away quickly. "Tch. Nope."
Remus groaned again and Sirius smiled before reading one of the lines.
"Good thing I have my library card, cause I'm checking you out."
He added a wink to the end of the line, and Remus shook his head.
"I sure hope you do, considering we're married."
Sirius narrowed his eyes slightly and huffed before reading the next.
"You stole my heart, so can I steal your last name?
Now James was holding the camera, trying to set it up on an unseen object. Remus was behind him, shaking his head.
"Let me do that, James. I usually help Sirius so I know how to do it."
"Sure. Knock yourself out, Remmy boy."
Remus rolled his eyes at the nickname and moved in front of the camera, only taking a few more seconds to put it in place. He moved back and sat next to a huffing James.
"I did most of it."
"Sure you did, James."
He huffed again and leaned back on the couch, stretching out. The full extent of the room was open, and it was beautiful.
A large ornate crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling above the sleek leather couch the two sat on. A large cabinet with no doors behind them was full of framed photos of James and an older woman and man, smiling at the camera. A few had Sirius in them, arm slung over James shoulder amd smiling widely. More frames lined the walls of the large room, some paintings and some pictures of James and his friends.
"James, what are we doing?" Remus asked after a moment of the other doing nothing.
"My dear Remus, we are going to-"
James cut off abruptly, turning his hesd to look at something off screen.
"Did someone knock at the door?" Remus asked, and James nodded, getting up and walking out of frame. A small squek signaled the door opening, before James shouted.
"Sirius! Oh my god, what the fuck happened to you?!"
Remus jumped up and also ran off camera, coming back with James half dragging a bloody Sirius between them. They set him on the couch and he winced and cried out, his injures fully  exposed to the camera.
A large cut ran from the corner of his lip to under his eye, similar to one of Remus' s scars and still bleeding a little. His lip was busted and swollen, along with a black eye. He tried sitting up and cried out again, clutching his side in a way that suggested he broke a few of his ribs.
"Sirius, what happenened?" James repeated, and Remus held a hand out to stop him.
"Hold on, James."
He bent down, taking one of Sirius' hands into both of his own. The other was still clutching his waist.
"Sirius, I need you to tell me what happened, ok? Will you tell me?"
He let out a broken sob and leaned forward, trying to put his head on Remus' shoulder, instead yelling out once more and falling back on the couch, panting and wincing every few seconds.
"Shh, baby. Please tell me."
He lifted Sirius' hand to his mouth, kissing it gently out of the view of the camera.
"She found the letters."
It wasn't much, but Remus visibly paled when Sirius said it.
"What does he mean? Remus?" James was looking between the two, face caught in a worried expression. Remus turned to him, lip caught between his teeth.
"We wrote letters back and forth instead of texting. His mother found them."
James paled too, and walked closer to the couch.
"James, the camera. Get the camera. We'll have to show this tape to the court."
Remus stood up, placing a gentle kiss to Sirius' forehead and leaving the room while James walked quickly towards the screen, looking angry amd scared all at the same time.
It went back to just Sirius.
"I am so sorry, I did not know that taoe was in there. I apolgize if I have triggered something for any of you."
When The Worlds Collide - VI
Kili x reader
A/N: Hey guys, sorry for not posting my own works in like two weeks or so. It was rough for my mental health and school was kicking my ass and I was not in a mood for doing many things, so now I hope you will like this long chapter!! It’s not really about the main plot, just some fluffy moments to enjoy. Also, it was my birthday 23rd September and it’s finally autumn!! I also don’t really know when am I going to draw, because like I said, I was not doing mentally well, but I think I could give it a shot in a next few days, because I’m on my autumn break, finally! I’ve been finishing a cake w my mom in past hour or so and I created a moon on it and waves in Gogh’s paintings style, I’ll show you a photo of it in next part.
Also, I’m not sure in which year in modern world this shall be oriented, but songs I’ve been thinking of (aka you playing these to them):
Spanish: Volar – Alvaro Soler, also We Don’t Speak Americano
French: Amour Plastique – VIDEOCLUB, La Vie En Rose – Edith Piaf
Korean: Sweat, Blood & Tears – BTS (because I don’t know almost any Japanese songs, but I like this one and some other songs in Korean)
Vegetable pie – quiche (I’ve had a pumpkin one in a cafe and it was real good)
Warnings: fluff
One of the fun things while having this group around was that they would constantly look around some rooms in your house and tell you how pretty it was, even if you haven't been tidying and cleaning it in two weeks at least. They also loved to explore your library and spended countless hours by reading the books. You've decided to introduce them to human culture. Only the basic things, really.
"So, here, the race of Men has developed into a different coultures and languages all over the world. Can you guess, for example, how many languages is here?" Kili didn't even thought about his answer.
"Well, you have one common language, so I guess just one, maybe two or three," He said with proud confident smile, changing in his typical cheeky grin as he winked at you. You chuckled and shook your head. Balin looked up from his book.
"There must be more. What about five, or ten?" You looked over others.
"Any other answer? C'mon, try out some number." You felt like a teacher in a class of many different students.
"Thirty languages, that could be," said Legolas calmly.
"Well, this is much bigger world, but it can't be that much. I guess twenty." Bard was thinking aloud.
"So, how is it, lass?" Fili asked and you couldn't help to cover a smile that was forming on your face.
"Well, actually, it's much more than that," you said. You've heard Gandalf to chuckle.
"It's over six thousand languages." Kili's eyes widened and his jaw fell down, Fili did pretty similar face. Most of them looked at you as if you'd told them you personally know Smaug and he's your best friend. And that dragons are the biggest cuddly softies.
"Bold of you to assume that whole population in this world speaks one language or a few dozens of them," you jokily murmed to yourself. Of course, elvish ears have picked that up. Thranduil looked at you with his icy glare.
„How does they sound, then?“ You pulled out your phone and opened YouTube.
„Well, this is a language called Spanish,“ You‘ve played one song in Spanish and all of them were listening to it, deeply in thought. You’ve noticed some dwarves trying to catch the lyrics, and when the song ended, you looked over them.
„This was Spanish, it’s one of the most largely-spoken languages all over the world. It can be slightely different, it depends on where you go. Then, there is another language, and it’s called French. It’s also called the ‚language of love‘, because it sounds softly and even as some sort of charm or magic.“ You looked to the elves.
„I think you may like it, it sounds a bit as an elvish in a way,“ You shrugged your shoulders, not wanting to offend them. They looked more interested in what you were about to play to them.
„This song is in French, but it’s a sad song. It’s also quite old, but I think it’s quite a good example, because it’s well-known, so,“ you left the sentence unfinished and played La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf, then one more modern song in French so they’d get the idea. When it ended, you’ve spoken again.
„Well, then there are much different languages. This one is Korean,“ you said and played a song, around fourty seconds.
„What were they saying? It’s all so different!“ You’ve heard Fili and smirked.
„You haven’t heard Russian, Fili.“ Kili sat closer to you, just as a puppy needy for attention.
„They are all so different!“ He threw his hands into air. You smiled.
„Oh yeah, they are. But it’s better to know at least two languages, to get higher chances of getting a job. The more languages you know, the more likely will people want you to work for them.“ Bard piped up.
„How can you learn them? Some of them sound way too difficult to learn, that Korean for example, how would you learned that?“ You looked over to your library.
„Oh well, you can go to some classes and learn the language here, or you can learn them by yourself. There are many textbooks you can use for learning grammar, and you can use books in your target language to help you to learn the vocabulary. Or you can watch movies in that language, listen to a songs, read articles instead of books, text or call with somebody who speaks that language...there are plenty of ways to do so, there is probably even more of them. Also, depends on the language and the person. Some people learn easier when they’ll learn the basic grammar first, someone needs to learn the pronounciation first, and so on.“ You finished talking and they were staring at you, surprised.
„How many languages do you know, if I may ask?“ Balin looked curiously down at you, sitting with crossed legs on the floor with Kili sitting next to you. You’ve thought about his question.
„Well, I’m fluent in two languages, and I’m learning another one. It’s a great way to relieve stress and it’s really fun thing to do, even though sometimes you have to learn to write completely different letters.“ You showed them Koren, Japanese and Russian letters, and they couldn’t believe their eyes.
A few minutes later
Fili sat down to the other side, so you were seated between them and they could look on your phone and into your book about Korea and Japan.
„How can you write that? How can you read that? It’s impossible! It all sounds the same!“ Kili and Fili cried out when Google Translate pronounciation have proved them wrong after another attempt of reading the languages.
„Every language has it’s own rhytm and you have to really listen to it, so you will recognize the words. If you don’t know the languages, it does sound close. Maybe we could try out some French and Spanish, what do you think?“ You said after seeing the elves being annoyed that they could not pronounce it, but not complaining as the dwarf brothers.
But oh boy, French and Spanish, that was another challenge. Even if not that big, but still.
„How do you do that with your mouth?!“ Kili asked you, looking as unhappy, flustrated puppy whom you took it’s ball and refused to give it back (or throw it).
„There are some rules for something called grammar and pronounciation, which you are purposely ignoring and then you complain you don’t understand how to do it!“ You said and rolled your eyes.
„You always tell me it’s wrong!“
„Because it is! You are pronouncing it wrong! It’s leviOUsa, not levioSAAA-!“ You stopped and then you started laughing. Kili furrowed his eyebrows.
„What, what are you laughing about? What is so funny? Y/N? Y/N, are you okay?!“ Kili looked at you, lying on your back on the floor, tears from laugh sparkling in your eyes.
„I sound-I sound just like a Hermione! It’s not LevioSAA-“ You started laughing again and they all looked at you worried.
„Shall we be concerned?“ Fili asked and you shook your head.
„No, no, it’s okay, I just-“ You looked at Kili and tried to not to laugh again.
„I’m okay, it’s okay.“ You breathed in and out, slowly, closing your eyes. You didn’t noticed how most of them looked at each other. As if they’d ended up with some crazy person.
You spoken.
„Okay, I think that was enough of languages for today. I know you have Khuzdul, Elvish and common language in Middle-Earth, but here is much more. Human culture in here has been developing for thounsands of years on many different places, so that’s why.“ You said and got up to your laptop to find some pictures of a certain places. They all came closer.
„Well, this is Rome, in Italy. Then, we have Paris, in France, now some Scandinavian countries. This is Stockholm, Sweden. Then, there is London, Great Britain. Now, this is Los Angeles and New York, that’s both in United States. This is in Japan and this is in Australia.“ You showed them well-known places all over the world and especially Europe, since you assumed it was the closest to Middle-Earth style of living.
After a while, you’ve decided to make some dinner. It wasn’t too much left, and you knew you’d have to go shopping soon, but you didn’t wanted to stress yourself about leaving some fictional characters alone in your house for an hour. No. You prepared a recipe and ingredients and started making dough and left them in living room with another pile of books. They especially loved classics, because they had similar language to what they were using, but they liked even more modern books. You didn’t even counted the time you were thanking yourself for collecting books and being a bookworm. And being a „public library“, as you and your friend would say.
Meanwhile, Kili looked up from his book to Fili, whom was reading one book series and seemed to like it, but now his brows was furrowed as if trying to solve some problem that came up. He quietly closed it and noticed you weren’t here with them, so he‘ve decided to find you and maybe talk with you about the book he was currently reading.
The first place, where he’ve decided to take a look to, was kitchen. He stood in the doorway, more to the side so you wouldn’t noticed him right away, but you seemed to be deeply in thought and mentally far away.
You were making a dough, with your hair up in a messy bun, your apron had quite a lot of flour on it, some flour ended up on your face and especially on your cheeks and up to elbows your hands were covered in it, even in your hair was a flour, but you didn’t seemed to mind it here. Next to you, there was a bowl of some cutted vegetables and a smaller bowl of cheese and a few eggs, some spices and herbs.
He didn’t noticed when you‘ve looked up as his memory flew back to his mother back in their old home in Middle-Earth in the kitchen cooking and his and Fili’s failed attempts they called cooking. They were much better at cooking from mud and twiggs than from real food. He imagined his mother and you in that kitchen and that you’d both tell him to get out from the kitchen and he’d sneak in afterwards to steal some piece of pie or cookies or sweet pasteries to prepare for you and him a picnic under the stars...
„Are you going to stand here and stare at me while I’m cooking?“ You placed your hands on your hips and a smile was dancing across your face. Kili’s head snapped and his cheeks blushed.
„I, uh, I wanted to talk with you about this book, I think it’s a good one.“ You came back to your dough and started working on it, again.
„Well, what books is it?“ You looked at the book he was holding.
"Oh, so The Picture of Dorian Gray. How do you like it so far?“ Kili looked at the book in his hands as if it could answer instead of him. He didn’t wanted to embarrass himself in front of you.
„Well, I...uh...it’s-it’s interesting and-“ You softly chuckled and his head snapped up.
„You can sit by the table rather than to stand in the doorway, Kee. Or you can help me out.“ You clapped your hands and big cloud of flour appeared in the air. A cheeky grin found a way to his face.
„Oh, so you would risk cooking with me, miss Y/N?“ You grinned back at him.
„Well, maybe. And still, you can sit down and talk about the book, I’ll listen to you.“ You said and a soft chuckle escaped your lips when you’ve seen how eager he was to sit near you, somebody whom was ready to listen to him.
„Tell me what you honestly think of that book, Kili. I won’t get offended or anything.“ You smiled at him and you’ve seen his eyes to shine as he spoke and when you were talking about all the characters and the storyline from different points of view, but that didn’t lasted long, because...food.
„What are you cooking?“ Kili asked curiously as he’ve checked the dough you were doing, the vegetables, spices and herbs.
„I’m baking a pie with vegetables and cheese, Kee.“ He scrunched his face and furrowed eyebrows.
„Why would you bake it with vegetables? Pies are sweet, aren’t they?“ He looked up at you with his questioning soft brown eyes and you’ve melted once again. You sighed and started explaining.
„Well, they are, but this type of pie is made with vegetables and cheese and eggs. It tastes good, I promise. It’s something like a pizza, but...well, it’s just a bit different, but good too!“ You said and he nodded, remembering that you baked a pizza a few days ago. Then he was standing next to you, looking sleepishly down at it.
„Put your hair out of the way, Kili, or they will end up in it. And that would not be good.“ You said, pulled out a hair-tie from the pocket of your apron, and created a messy bun out of his hair. You’ve realized that touching someone’s hair is (well, at least in the movies and books) intimate for dwarves, so you felt your face to heat up in embarrassement. You realized that it was probably true when Kili was suddenly stiff and his ears became red.
„Oh, I didn’t realized, I’m sorry-“ He cutted you off.
„It’s okay,“ You noticed he was sleepishly looking at you, but there was a twinkle in his eyes telling you he was not mad at you. (As if he could be possibly actually mad at somebody, you thought.) You shyly looked away.
„I, uh, wanna help me out?“ You looked down at floor, suddenly too embarrassed to look at him, so you didn’t noticed how his eyes widened in surprise.
„Y-you would let me to cook?!“ His voice came out as high-pitched and you glanced at him. His eyes were set on you, he was clearly surprised and excited.
„I will keep an eye on you, but yes, at some point I will.“ You said a bit hesitantely. He looked a bit concerned, but excitement overtook him. You handed him an apron. Yours was dark blue with little stars on it, this one was creamy with brown fabric around the edges. You helped him to put it on and stepped a bit away, hands on your hips and slightely narrowed eyes.
„Yeah, that’s good. But we need to do something with your bangs,“ You said and pulled out a few hair clips and bobby pins in more sizes from pocket of your apron. You went through them and then slightely nodded, chose a few of them and the rest gave back. You looked up to Kili.
„This will help to hold all of your hair out of your face,“ you said and he took them and suspiciously glanced at them. You sighed and rolled playfully your eyes. You took one of your pocket, took a strand of hair that escaped to your bun and inhaled.
„That’s how to do it. It’s not like it will bite you.“ You said, clasped the strand to it’s place, placing your hands on your hips and rising your eyebrow. He grinned and winked at you.
„Okay, let’s get the pie done!“ You quickly said, trying to cover your rising blush.
You broke the eggs into the bowl with vegetables and let Kili to put the herbs into it, but you added spices and heavy cream into it.
„Now, mix it-carefully, so it won’t end up on the floor and stay in the bowl-and then carefully pour it onto the dough,“ you motioned to the prepared dough on pie dish. Kili, when he calmed down (which almost didn’t happened, he seemed to be excited somebody trusted him enough to let him to kitchen to do something else than just eat, drink or sneak in for food), was a quick learner. You placed the pie to oven and let it to bake. You leaned against the counter and with a huff you wiped off your forehead.
„I think it’s time to get cleaned up,“ you sighed, your eyes falling shut. Kili nodded, but it seemed something on your face cought his attention. He came closer, he was close enough for you to see his soft gaze filled with concern and his brows slightely scrunched, him being concentrated.
„You have...a bit of flour left here...“ he said and his thumb runned across your cheek. You slighely flinched on that sudden contact. Your eyes met his and you’ve seen in his gaze he was thinking about something. His touch was sending shivers down your spine. You slightely opened your mouth, but closed it again, not wanting to ruin the moment. His eyes had a sparks in them, but he looked more nervous than cheeky and confident this time.
You couldn’t help but looked quickly on his lips and back to his eyes. It was only you two now, as if the whole world disappeared. You were holding your breath, nervous what was about to happen.
„I-,“ Kili whispered and you felt his breath on your lips. He was looking deep into your e/c eyes, thinking about how beautiful they were and how close he was. He could kiss you, your lips were just a few inches away, and he’d lie if he said he have never, at least once thought about how it would felt like to kiss you, at least once, since he met you.
„Kili, where are you?!“ You both flinched, quickly parted and looked away. You’ve heard Kili groaning as his older brother appeared in the doorway.
„You need to read this series Kee-wait-“ he slightely frowned, looking at his brother more properly.
„You were...cooking?“ You nervously smiled.
„Uhm, yeah, I was making a dinner and, uhm, Kili was helping me out,“ You said.
„Kili, you can go clean up, I will clean here a bit,“ You didn’t gave him a place for an answer when you pushed him to go to Fili. When a door fell after them, you sat down on the floor and thought about that moment you almost kissed. And then Fili came in, you thought and groaned. He was definetely keeping an eye on his brother.
Family Values Ch. One
Martin Mathias x (S/I) Lena Wilusz
Braddock nightlife is almost non-existent, and that was how most of its residents liked it. A collection of old and new, families and singles. Braddock was religious, intended to be pristine under the light of the sun and quiet in the dark of night.
Braddock was not the best place for Martin to be. Martin Mathias, young and inquistive. Preferred his hair longer but dressed simply. He always felt as though he stuck out like a sore thumb by his mere existence, and as such worked tirelessly to make himself as unassuming as possible. Dressed plain, acted plain; he kept to himself in town, never wanting to make a fuss…
...So he took the night train to the next town over. By train or bus, it was about thirty to fourty-five minutes to Pittsburgh, close enough to be back home in time but far enough that his name wouldn't reach back to his family's ears. The day was for showing Tata Cuda that he was in fact not a monster; the night was to be one.
Stepping off the train in the Pittsburgh station, he found his way into directions towards the bustling center of town. If Martin was any one thing, it was careful. He always got what he needed, safely and how he wanted it. His first nightly adventure in Pittsburgh, he had decided, would be reconnaissance. Just thinking the word made him feel like a man out of the movies- he was already armed with the tools of his trade, packed away neatly inside the small leather case he carried them in. Just in case, he thought.
Just in case.
This night he wandered around town looking aimless, taking note of what kinds of things the place offered. It was already more diverse than Braddock was: a few larger grocery stores, a candy store, a small theater, and a multitude of restaurants lined the streets along with a number of other things to enjoy. Unlike Braddock, there were still a number of people roaming around at this hour; couples and singles alike. Martin finds it strange to see so many people out on an average night, the clock just barely hitting nine p.m. But this was only natural, he was only used to small towns after all.
The man comes to a stop rounding out his investigation back onto the strip of restaurants he'd passed before; his stomach growled. Dinner at his home wasn't always substantial, especially when he had no say in the menu. It was another night with a half full plate of something he could barely stomach. A decent amount of cash tucked in his pocket leads him into the first establishment that catches his eye.
The place was called The King's Tavern. His first thought was that his feet were leading him to some kind of bar, but stepping inside gave him an entirely different sensation. He couldn't understand how a place could look so much like his black white thoughts and yet still make him feel so...safe and comfortable. The entire inside was lit by false lamplight, with wooden tables and chairs. Some corners had booth seating with velveteen lined seats. His first instinct was somewhat correct, there was a small bar space with a woman standing behind it mixing drinks and pouring ales into steins. In this place, everyone else was out of place. For him, it was like stepping back into his own eastern Europe.
Confidence beside him, Martin slides into one of the available booths, still not looking for extra attention. He sat, waited, observed, and he saw her. A woman approached another table just before his. Somewhat petite, a corset keeping her linen blouse tucked against her skin and resting just over the waist of her skirts. An apron was tied around her waist, adorned with colorful floral embroidery in contrast to much of the dimmer atmosphere. Her face is soft but her eyes exhausted, a notepad and pen readied in her hands.
"All I'm saying is, the point is moot if you aren't going to keep everything to fact. No one in the 15th century would be wearing sneakers or have synthetic fabrics."
"Sir please, this is just a restaurant-" The woman tries to keep her cheerful work façade up despite her frustrations.
"It's just a little bit of extra effort, for the true authentic experience." The customer insists. By the look on the woman's face, Martin can tell a nerve has been hit.
"Well sir, the cobblers been ill and price of linen is up. We can make you a meal, but you'll get no women here. Now, can I get you something?" A thick European accent coats over her words, sounding impeccably natural. Martin can see that finally the man in front of him is appeased enough to let her slip from his attention and finally move onto his table. She sighs one more time before him.
"Good evening sir and welcome. Have you been with us before?"
“Ah, no, this is my first time. A-and uh. I’m sorry about...that-“ He says.
"O-oh...Thank you. It's kind of stupid, people seem to get really...annoyed? Irritated? Something like that. They don't even know what it's like there...only ever seen it in books. I'm sorry, you came to eat not to listen to me talk, please, what can I do for you?"
"I only have so much cash...do you have something easy? As, as long as it isn't stuffed cabbage?" He must have said something funny, because the woman chuckles happily at his remark.
"I'll surprise you then. And no cabbage, I promise." She departs as quickly as she comes, leaving Martin to sit in his own quiet. Shifting his fingers, eyes darting between spaces of decoration. His hands itch to dig into his bag and reset the organization of his tools another time, just to ensure they're in their proper places.
He keeps his hands planted on the table. You don't know who's watching, Martin.
He breathes a sigh of relief when the woman returns with a plate of food in her hands and a glass of water.
"I hope water's fine, I forgot to ask what you wanted… I can get you something else too."
"This is fine, thank you."
"Swell! I uh. I hope this isn't too forward but...do you mind if I ate with you? My shift is ending soon and my boss is letting me grab some dinner because of the time...and really I just don't want to sit alone. I-if it's not okay that's fine! I just thought I'd...give it a shot." Martin bites his tongue. Instead of speaking, he gestures towards the seat opposite him in invitation.
"Oh thank you! Let me go get my plate!" She scurries off again.
This was a surprise. Never in all his years, or at least the recent ones, had a woman throw herself so willingly towards him. Perhaps there was something new to him? No, he was sure everything was quite the same when he got up that morning, and no sickness magically changed anything about him. Not that there was any magic at all. Once again, she's back in his sight, another plate and glass in hand.
"I just got us both the same thing. Leftovers of today's rouladen special, leniwe pierogi, and some vegetables. No cabbage, I made sure!" She laughs again.
"I hope you enjoy it." She says.
"Thank you." They both dig in, enjoying their meals in relative silence as life continues around them. Martin is reminded of a past time, sitting at a table in quiet comfort, candles burning and exchanging longing glances sat on either side of the wood between them…
"Uhm...may I ask your name?" Martin wakes from his daydream once again, eyes now fixated on her, blinking slowly.
"Ah. It's...Martin."
"Pleasure to meet you Martin. My name is Lena. Lena Williams."
"...Lena?"
"Yeah...it's Americanized. Magdalena Wilusz, my family is from Poland."
Something somewhere in him felt like a dream came true.
A stout older man approached their table, two glasses in hand. He assumed, and assumed correctly, that this man must of been her boss, and the owner.
"Mr. Kaufmann, what's this for?"
"On the house, dear. You've worked hard this week, just enjoy your weekend off."
"...Thank you sir."
"My boss," she says, "he's a good man, really looks after us. He really is too kind…" She takes hold of one drink, glass frosting with cool condensation from the liquid inside. She takes a drink with eyes closed, sighing.
"It's really good, sweet like apples. Try some!" Martin is unsure what’s been brought to the table, but he trusts her. And she’s right, the flavor is light, crisp, and refreshing. The thought crosses his mind that this is alcohol, and alcohol can make him clumsy and clumsy is not what he needs if he is intending to feed, which wasn’t his intention in the first place with this trip… But the bite of it is only as harsh as cold lemonade in
summer and encourages him to continue swallowing the drink down as he enjoys his meal. The two continue talking, drinking as the evening winds down in the dining room and their food dwindles.
“H-huh, oh dear, its getting late isn’t it...this is about the time the bars start letting out...s-shit- oh! Sorry, I usually d-don’t curse…” Lenas face is molded with concern as the minutes continue to tick down. He thinks she must be worried about the influx of men flooding into the streets…
“I...i could walk you home…?”
“Martin, I couldn’t burden you like that-“
“You’re worried, a-about the people? You drank some and just want to get home safe, right?”
“...Yes. Even when I eat I leave fast...you’re really a gentleman aren’t you, Martin? I’m sure...I can find something to repay you.”
“I-I’m sure you can, if that’s what you...need to do.”
Martin was ecstatic. It still raised a conflict in his somewhat addled mind, but the ease of solving his sickness for one night also held high. As minutes passed on, the facts and choices began to swirl into a haze. Dinner was finished and the plates left to the closing staff. Coats were donned, Martin's bag of tools secured, and on they went with Lena leading the way. She kept herself steady by clinging onto his jacket sleeve, pointing out vague instructions to her home. It wasn't very far at all, if not a roundabout from her place of work. Just under thirty minutes from the restaurant, only taking so long due to their somewhat inebriated states.
"S-see? Not too bad...thank you Martin. You're such a sweet guy…" Lena says, finally arriving at her front door. She's still unsteady on her feet, wobbling just a bit as she stares down at her hands and the concrete steps.
"S-so, Martin...do you… mind if I do something stupid?" The man in question remains silent, merely nodding a positive response. Sure of herself, she plants her lips to his, fisting her shaking hands into his coat.
"U-uh, if that was b-bad of me, I'm s-sorry, uhm...but. Y-you're welcome to come in, j-join me-"
“Join me, Martin."
Echoes of her flitting about dim halls in a white gown guided his hand over hers, turning the handle and letting them both inside. He was going to do this. He was going to do...something. Combined, they bypass the dark living room and go straight through to her own space. Her room is messy, as that of any busy employee's, and gently illuminated by the one wide window with the drapes drawn open. A socket mounted night light assisted the moon in keeping the floor lit. Returning from a quick trip to the bathroom, she stands anxiously by the bed.
"I-i uhm...i-i don't know what to do, I-ive never...brought someone b-back like this…"
"I-its okay. I know what I'm doing. I-i'm careful." He tells her. It's a truth and a lie mixed together, not fully aware of what outcome will occur. Both of them have toed off their shoes, and again Martin guides Lena to her back, on her bed. She's softly cradled by her sheets, and when he rests his forehead to hers, she kisses him.
In the time that Lena was gone, Martin was quick. In moments, he prepared an appropriate dose of his sleep agent, and carefully stowed the exposed syringe inside his jacket sleeve. Knelt over her, he runs his hands up and down her legs, both removing her skirt and seeking out the best spot for injection in her thighs. He finds his chosen location, squeezing gently as she sighs. Again, he kisses her as he maneuvers the needle carefully and pushes down on the plunger. Breathless, her eyelids already begin to flutter.
"W-wha...M-martin, what was that…?" She questions, her voice high and airy.
"Don't worry, i-it'll...it'll make you feel better." Lena, now on her path to sedation, he begins removing his own clothes. First shirking his coat, he gets back up to carefully place the now empty syringe on the beside table, and follows up by then ridding himself of his pants. Next he goes towards her top, fiddling with the ties to loosen and remove the corset over her linen shirt, her own fingers lacing into his to pull the strings apart. He continues to run his hands over her exposed skin as the sedative runs its course through her veins. She sighs softly, the gentle treatment combined with the power of the sedative and alcohol has her eyes barely fighting to keep open. She finally succumbs to sleep as Martin cradles her face and kisses her nose.
“It's all going to be okay…” He promises to her sleeping body. Finally, he’s safe enough to do away with both of their shirts and her bra.
Her skin was perfect, soft. It was of course marred by a cocktail of imperfections: stretch marks, discoloration, one generous scar on her belly. But it was warm and comforting to the touch. He no longer needs to kneel over her, the next step…Without gathering his materials, he lays beside her, pulling her close in imitation of a loving couple.
He is so tired… He keeps admiring her skin. The minutes pass as he tucks her limbs into his own body. In her sleep she takes advantage, wrapping herself tighter around him, fingers coming to rest delicately on his cheek.
Martin was there to be a monster. He was supposed to take and leave as easily as he came, then to never see her again.
Instead, Martin falls asleep.
Fun, Family, and Fishing
Fair Game Week 2020: Day 3 - Family / Weapons
Read it on AO3 here.
After months of planning, they were finally going on their camping trip, and boy did it take planning. It was a hard time to find a time where five adults were all free for a vacation. Eventually, they all decided to embark on their trip during the summer when Tai was free from his teaching job, and when fishing was in season. Qrow, Clover, Summer, and Raven just decided to use their sick days to get the time off. At first, it was just going to be them and Ruby and Yang, but then they begged their parents to let their friends Weiss and Blake tag along. They gave in quickly. They knew they could handle two more kids, and quickly met with the other kid’s parents to get the okay from them. To all the kids’ delight, they agreed. But then, all four of them ganged up on the adults to convince them to let their other friends, Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren, join in on the trip. The kids were around so much they practically were family, but eight kids seemed like too much, so at first, they said no. Then they saw the children’s puppy eyes. Then they fell for the puppy eyes and pleas. Then they went to get permission from all the kids’ guardians. And then they modified their plans to include eight kids instead of four kids, which had first only planned for two kids. It was hectic, to say the least, but it all worked out. They ended up renting two RVs and getting more supplies than they could carry. After a day of driving and trying to keep middle school kids entertained, they reached their reserved campsite nightfall, exhausted and tired. They decided to begin their activities the next day. Tai and Clover were the first to wake, used to an early schedule.
“Morning Tai.”
“Morning Clover.” They both began unloading the supplies for breakfast, though most of the cooking would be done by Tai. Clover wasn’t allowed to cook after the time he burned soup, which no one ever let him forget. The only thing he could cook well was fish.
“So, how was your night?”
“Pretty good, all things considered. Team JNPR fell asleep pretty quickly, and Qrow too. He is pretty good with kids after all.”
“Team JNPR?” Tai questioned.
“It’s what Qrow calls Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren’s group.” Clover clarified. “He calls the girls Team RWBY.”
“Hmm, I’m gonna steal that from him. If anyone asks, I thought of it on my own.”
“My lips are sealed.” Clover said as he motioned his lips shut.
“Anyways, my night was terrible. Try falling asleep while teenage girls giggle until midnight, AND, while Raven snores. I don’t know how Summer even fell asleep in the first place.”
“Damn. Well, at least we’ll have tents to sleep in tonight while the kids sleep in the RV.”
“Yeah, but I can only imagine what that’s going to do to my back.”
“Oh Tai, you say that like we're old men. We’re only barely fourty.” Clover shook his head at the silly notion.
“I do crossword puzzles on my lunch breaks and you collect vintage fishing tackles.” He deadpanned, looking Clover straight into his eyes. Clover opened his mouth to refute the statement, but realized Tai was right.
“Okay. I see your point.” Clover conceded. There was also the fact that he was starting to gray on his sides. He liked how it looked though, and so did Qrow, whose hair was already colored salt and pepper. As Tai started breakfast, Clover took out the tent equipment. The next to awake were Ren, Nora, and Qrow.
“Good morning Uncle Clover and Mr. Xiao-Long.” Nora greeted cheerfully. She and the other kids had started calling Qrow Uncle Qrow in elementary school when they started hanging out with Ruby and Yang and their cool uncle. He didn’t particularly like it at first, but soon grew accustomed to it. And when he married Clover, it was only natural that they would call Clover Uncle Clover. Needless to say, Clover felt honored and readily accepted the title, especially since he was an only child and therefore couldn’t have nieces or nephews. Ren, still waking up, had also given a respectful “Good morning as well.”
“Morning, and please tell me someone made coffee.” Qrow asked, his drowsiness evident. The drowsiness certainly wasn’t going to stop him from giving his husband a good morning kiss on the cheek though.
“Lucky for you, Tai did. I’ll get you some.” Clover went and poured him a cup of pure black coffee.
“Thanks Cloves.” He said as he eyed the cup as if it held the secrets of life. Graciously, he took a sip. “Ahh, that's the stuff.” He smiled as he began to feel the drowsiness fade away.
“Uncle Clover! Can I have some?” Nora asked with bright eyed innocence.
“Uhh,” he responded at first. He didn’t really know if he should give her any, but got his answer from Ren who seemed wide awake now. Behind her, he mouthed “no” and fearfully shook his head.  “No.”
“Aww, why not?” she asked, deflated.
“Because …” she stared at him as he tried to think of a reason.
“It’ll stunt your growth. You want to grow big and strong like your uncles, don’t you? Of course you do.” He quickly said before she could answer. “Here, have some juice.” He tossed her a box of some juice, which she caught.
“Thanks Uncle Qrow!”
“No problem kiddo.” She then moved over to Tai to see what he was cooking. Clover let out a sigh of relief.
“Thanks you two.”
“No need to thank us. We just don’t want Nora to run off in the wilderness and come back with a bear slung over her back.” Qrow told his husband as he took another sip.
“If you think she’s hyper now, you should have seen what happened in fifth grade when she drank an energy drink.” Ren, nursing a box of juice as well, said as he looked into the distance as if reliving a war memory.
“I’m pretty sure it left poor old Tai traumatized. But hey, he’s still an elementary school teacher, so it obviously wasn’t that bad.”
“I do not envy Tai’s work.” Clover replied as he sat down next to Qrow to take a break from unpacking. Next to wake up was Raven and Summer.
“Good morning. my wonderful wives.” Tai greeted them each with a kiss as he held a pan of cooking food.
“Too. Energetic.” Summer was obviously not a morning person “Need. Coffee.” She still had her eyes closed Raven guided her to a seat. She poured herself and her wife a cup.
“Morning Raven. You look great.” Qrow teased. She had a serious case of bedhead, which Qrow could not help but make fun of.
“I will throw you into the river, and I will laugh when your eyeliner gets ruined, little brother.” She glared at him as she took a long sip.
“Jokes on you, I didn't bring any.” He laughed at her, as she could only scowl at him. “Besides, I’d just have my knight in shining armor rescue me.” He gave Clover another kiss, which caused him to blush.
“Aww, look at that. Qrow and Clover sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G.” teased Summer, who had turned back to her usual self thanks to the coffee. Now Qrow and Clover were both blushing.
“Ha! Look at them! Nice one!” Raven exclaimed as she high fived her wife. Before anymore could be said or done, Tai announced that breakfast was done, and asked them to wake the rest of the kids.
“This isn’t over, Summer.” Clover mocked as he motioned that he would be keeping his eyes on her, his cheeks still flushed.
“Oh, I know.” she said as she smiled, excited for the antics that would follow, and went to wake up Team RWBY. While Clover went to wake up Jaune and Pyrrah, Raven and Qrow only glared at each other, occasionally taking a sip of their coffee.
With all the kids now up, the real party would begin. After eating and mingling with one another, they changed into their outfits for the main event of the day: a fishing contest. Tai had decided that he would stay behind to watch the stuff. Ren, Nora, Ruby, and Weiss had decided to stay with him, since Nora and Weiss didn’t like getting wet, and Ren and Ruby didn't want to leave their best friend behind. When Tai told them they could help with the tents, Ruby screamed “Yay! Child labor!” which had caused all the adults to laugh, except for Tai, who looked sad and tired already.
The last ones to change into their fishing outfits were Qrow and Clover. Everyone expected him to look the most prepared because the man had been fishing most of his life, and he did look the most prepared. A fishing vest, with his signature pin tacked on, cargo shorts, and shoes with good grip were all immaculate, despite years of use, save for the shoes that were recently bought. He looked like he was about to enter a fishing contest, save for one particular part of his clothing: his hat. It was a gift from his fathers on his twentieth birthday, much like his prized fishing pole that he lovingly monikered after his favorite bird, “aside from Qrow” he would often clarify, the Kingfisher. Naturally he carried the fishing pole and wore the hat with pride. What made the hat so unaligned with his outfit was the fact that it said “Men want me Fish fear me” on it. Stepping out of the RV with Qrow, Clover saw Raven do a double take. Once she was able to make out the words on the hat, she began to die of laughter, which caused Summer to turn to look at what had made her wife laugh so hard. As a result, she began to laugh as well, calling her husband over in between laughs. Soon, he was dying of laughter as well. Qrow took in a deep breath and exhaled.
“You’re lucky I love you.”
“I know, and it’s all thanks to my good luck charm.” Clover sing-songed as he kissed Qrow on the cheek. He tried to hide a smile, but failed miserably. “Come on Qrow, let's go win our fishing contest.” Raven And Summer began to laugh even harder.
“You hear that Rav! They think- They think they’re gonna win!” They continued laughing.
“Laugh all you want now, we’ll see if you’ll be laughing later when you’re eating the fish we caught.” Clover taunted.
“I hope you like the taste of defeat, ladies.” Qrow said cooly, as if he and Clover already won.
“I’m sure they will. Now, let's get going. It’s already noon.” With that, Clover led the way to the river, Qrow by his side, the kids in tow playing around, and Summer and Raven behind the kids, recovering from their laughing fit. Soon, they arrived at a place where the deep river forked, one path remaining deep, the other turning shallow. As the kids played in the shallow area, the adults set up their fishing rods and chairs, one of them periodically going to the nearby shallow area to check in on the kids.
“All set!” exclaimed, the first to finish setting up. He stood back and admired his handiwork, everything neat and orderly. With that, he cast out his line, and waited. Next to finish setting up was Qrow, but only because he had Clover help him. Immediately after was Summer. While she wasn’t nowhere as talented in fishing as Clover, she was still a force to be reckoned with. Lastly was Raven, who was decent at fishing with a pole. And so, they waited, chatting about current events, their jobs, and the kids.
“So thats where Ruby learned about child labor, huh?” asked Qrow.
“Yup.” Confirmed Summer. “Speaking of Ruby, she recently asked when she’s going to have some cousins, and frankly, I wanna know too.” The two men began stumbling over each other’s words, explaining that they talked about it here and there, but never really seriously.
“Now’s as good a time as any.” Raven spoke. “You’re both about middle aged, have stable jobs with a good retirement plan, and you have us to help you out if you ever need it. After this trip, think about it maybe.”
“Wow Raven, that’s ... actually some good advice. Thanks.”
“You’re welcome, Clover. I dragged it out from the kindness I keep in my heart.” Raven joked, putting a hand over her heart.
“You have a heart? I wouldn’t have ever known.” said a smug Qrow.
“Fine then, fuck you. I just wanted to have another person to tell all the embarrassing stories I have about you.” She angrily, almost comically, cast a line back into the water.
“Hey, watch you’re fucking language, there’s kids nearby.” Clover reprimanded, pretending to be serious. They all just laughed. The loud children were too far away to be able to discern their words.
“Eh, but seriously, thanks Rae, we’ll think about it.”
“If it helps, just know that I would make a great auntie.”
“I’m sure you would, Summer.” Qrow replied, mostly focusing on the fishing rod.
“You know, there is one thing we talked about.” Clover teased, immediately grabbing the attention of the two women.
“Oh, yeah! Names. We were thinking either Basil, or Bluebird.”
“Those are nice.” Raven replied.
“They are. I get Bluebird,” Summer stated, “but how did you decide on Basil?”
“Like my namesake, it’s another plant that can bring good luck.” Clover clarified.
“Ahh, I see. Oh! Clover! Look!”  Summer shouted. His pole had hooked onto something, and after a bit of fighting, Clover reeled in a decently sized fish.
“Think you could top this?” Clover asked Qrow specifically, with a wink and a smirk on his face as he put the fish in a bucket of water.
“I mean, I have before.” He replied, unphased. It took a moment for the women to catch on to what he said. Once they realized, they made sounds of disgust and made sure it was known.
“Ugh! Gods have mercy on me!” Summer screeched in desperation, covering her ears.
“I wouldn’t waste my breath if I were you. Trust me, I know. You know how many times they didn't show me any mercy in college.” Qrow shuddered at the memories of him accidentally walking in on Raven, Summer, and Tai. They resumed their normal conversations and soon slipped into comfortable silence, each of them catching a fish now and then, except for Qrow. By the time lunch rolled around and the kids had eaten and resumed their playing, Qrow had still caught nothing. Currently in the lead was Raven, though Clover had wondered why the fish weren’t as big as they usually were. He just chalked it up to luck.
“Fuck it.” Qrow said. He rolled up his pants and waded into the river. Clover watched in curiosity as his husband stood still with laser focus in knee deep water. Soon, his curiosity was replaced with awe as the man shot into the water and resurfaced with a fish that put him in the lead. Clover wouldn’t have said it out loud, but seeing Qrow glistening in the river with a big fish in his hands was kind of hot.
“Qrow where the hell did you learn that!? That was amazing!” After Qrow placed his catch in his bucket, he was met with a kiss on the lips.
“Looks like I better catch more fish if this is my reward, huh?” Qrow asked, knowing the answer to his question. Clover whispered his answer into Qrow’s ear. Apparently, he did not know the answer. His face got visibly redder, and he quickly went back into the river.
“Don’t think about it, don't think about it, don't think about it.” Summer repeated to herself.
“I think I know how to help with that.” Raven walked over to Summer, gave her a kiss, then walked into the water. Needless to say, it worked. Soon, after Clover and Summer caught another fish, too small to dethrone Qrow, Raven striked, and reemerged with two fish in hand, one big enough to take the lead. “We learned lots of things back when we were a part of that traveling tribe. Some of us learned better than others.” Suavely, she tossed the smaller fish back into the water and replaced the fish in her bucket with the bigger one as Summer cheered her on.
Sibling rivalry mode was in full swing among the pair. Mostly in silence, they continued their contest. Qrow managed to catch a bigger one, but was dethroned by Clover, which he didn't mind. Meanwhile, poor Summer remained in last place. She was starting to lose hope, until something that seemed particularly big got hooked onto her pole. By then, Raven and Summer had left the water and had packed up most of the stuff. She fought with it, slowly but surely making progress. However, as she was fighting the fish standing up, she slipped, sending her into the center of the river, where it was deepest. Summer had lost her rod, but had fortunately felt someone tug her back to the surface. As she broke the surface, she gasped for air.
“Oh Raven, my love, you saved me. That’s what a real knight in shining armor is like Qrow!” Her eyes still closed and cradled in a set of arms, she moved to give her savior a kiss, but felt something that something was off, and stopped. “Wait a minute…” she reached for the chest area and gave a light squeeze. They were thick,  nowhere as  plump as Raven’s, but thicker than Qrow’s. She knew that it could only mean one thing. She rubbed her eyes and opened them to face Clover.
“A real knight in shining armor huh?” he asked smugly. She gave a small scream and squirmed about, falling back into the water.
“None of you saw or heard any of that!” she yelled, pointing a finger at all of them. Her heart dropped when she saw Qrow on shore, holding his phone, the camera light on. “Oh gods no.”
“I did say it wasn’t over, remember? This’ll make for a great video to show everyone.”
“You monster!” she yelled as she pretended to try to drown the man, though that would be difficult, considering he practically grew up in water. Meanwhile, Clover was laughing and Qrow was laughing as he ran from Raven who was trying to steal his phone so she could protect her wife’s honor by deleting the video. However, their antics were interrupted.
“Mom! Uncle Qrow! Look what Blake caught!” Yang shouted from down the river. In the distance, they could make out what looked to be a large fish.
“Holy fuck...” Qrow stated in awe.
“Don’t tell me...” said Raven, also awestruck. “Hey!” she shouted at Clover and Summer. “Meet us down the river with the kids. You’ll want to see this!”
“Oh boy...” Clover knew that with this family, it was bound to be something interesting, to say the least. He and Summer swam over, seeing the figure Blake had dragged in becoming clearer and clearer. They could also see Raven checking Blake to make sure she was alright as Qrow untangled the line from the caught fish.
“No. Way. “They both said in unison. Once they reached shallow enough water, They ran to confirm that Blake was alright, and that she had indeed caught the fish that threw Summer into the water. Blake’s shyness was evident as her friends showered her with praise.
“Blake! Where did you learn to do that!? That was amazing!” asked Yang, proud of her best friend.
“That, its nothing.” she shied away, pushing her wet hair out of her face and turning her head to hide a blush. “I’ve been doing it with my mom since I was young. Really, it’s nothing spectacular.”
“Hey, don’t sell yourself short kid, that thing’s half your size. That’s nothing to sneeze at.” said Qrow. He had had low self esteem for a long time, and wasn’t about to let any of the kids put themselves down.
“That is very incredible Blake, but try not to do that again without letting us know. We just don’t want anything bad to happen.” clover explained.
“Yes, of course, I’ll be sure to let one of you know next time.” she stated.
“You do know what this means, right Blake?” asked Summer.
“Uhh, no?”
“It means you won our fishing contests silly! You caught the biggest fish! You Win!” Blake was confused at first when she was picked up by Raven and placed on her shoulder.
“That also means you get to lead the victory parade, little champion.”
“Ooh, mom, pick me up too!” Yang exclaimed. She wasn’t going to refuse. She had seen how close the little champion and her daughter were getting. It brought her comfort to know her daughter would be with such a strong person. Once the equipment and dinner packed and ready for transport, they marched back to their campsite, the children shouting Blake’s name as she was carried in front.
“Damn, what are the Belladonnas feeding her?” Clover wondered.
“Pure protein, by the looks of it.” Summer replied.
“Well, at least she’s alright.” Qrow said.
“Yeah.” agreed Summer and Clover.
The sun was beginning to set by the time they returned. By then, they were all beginning to feel tired and hungry once more. Tai and Clover made sure to make the fish mouth watering delicious. The served the first piece to Blake, whose mouth was watering at the sight. While the kids ate and Yang retold the story of how her bff caught the beat, the adults chatted some more. After dinner, they all roasted marshmallows and told scary stories. If anyone had asked Clover if he had yelped and grabbed onto his husband’s arm when an ominous howl coincided with the climax of Tai’s scary story, he would say it didn’t happen. Everyone else would beg to differ, especially Qrow. As it got later, the fire died and the kids who wanted to sleep outside retired to a tent, while the kids who wanted to sleep inside retired to the RVs. While there was room for the adults in the RV, they wanted to appreciate the cool air and beautiful night sky.
“Hey, Clover?”
“Yes, my Lucky Charm?”
“It’s been a nice day with you, and them.” Clover hummed in agreement.
“It has. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.” They laid together in comfortable silence for a moment more, taking in the starry sky through their clear-topped tent.
“Beautiful view, isn’t it?” Qrow asked. Clover turned to face him. His deep crimson eyes shone a unique brilliance that was incomparable to anything else. Qrow had just looked so serene in the light of the moon and stars and the darkness of the night. Clover found himself enamored.
“Most beautiful sight in the world, if I must say.”
“Clover, I swear, if you’re─” he stopped mid sentence as he turned his head to see Clover staring right at him, obviously caught up in admiring his dark-haired husband. Qrow softly smiled back. Together, they silently admired each other.
“You know, I do think of you and your family as the best thing to ever happen to me. Never had a big family, and I’m pretty much all I have from my side of the family now. I guess I just appreciate you and your family a lot.”
“Our family, Lucky Charm.”
“Hmm?” Clover said, surprised.
“Our family. You’re as much a part of it as anyone else here, and we all love you just the same too.” Bewildered. Clover couldn’t think of a response. He was so used to the loneliness that he hadn’t really considered he could be a part of a family again. He moved closer to hug Qrow, who readily accepted him. He buried his head into the crook of his shoulders. And Clover wasn’t going to lie. He was crying a little. However, Qrow’s scent helped comfort him, as well as Qrow stroking his hair and the knowledge that he had a family.
“I love you Qrow.” Clover’s voice came out a tad strained, though it was almost undetectable.
“I love you too Clover.” With Qrow humming a song, Clover fell into a peaceful sleep. Soon after, Qrow fell asleep to the calm rise and fall of his husband’s chest. In this sleep, Clover had a dream, though he only remembered an image from it. Tai, Summer, and Raven were in it, as well as all the kids, albeit slightly older. Qrow was standing right beside him, their hands intertwined. In between them were two children who he could not discern. Yet, he felt happy, he felt like he was where he belonged, he felt love.
Comfort and Lies
(read it on AO3)
Levi looked up from his laptop when he heard the apartment’s front door slam shut. He was about to call out, to let Eren know he was there, when he heard the slamming of a second, inside door.
Eyebrow arching, Levi eyed the wall dividing the kitchen he sat in from the bedroom. He glanced at the floor plans he’d been studying on his laptop, the unread messages on his cell phone, and the clock ticking away on the wall. He’d hoped to see Eren before he left so he was already running late. His ride was waiting impatiently – very impatiently – outside, but… he shut his laptop, tucked his phone into his pocket, and stood.
When he stepped into the bedroom, he saw Eren had thrown himself face down on the bed. He sat on the edge of the mattress, reached out a hand to stroke Eren’s hair. “Bad day?”
Eren turned his face and smiled weakly up at him, “I thought you’d be long gone already or I’d have come and said hello. Aren’t you supposed to be on your way to your booth at the trade show?”
“The flight was delayed, so I was killing time for a couple hours. What’s wrong?”
“It’s no big deal. My professor was just more of a jerk than usual.”
“What did he do now?”
“He’s an ass, is all. He just hates me because I helped Historia report him her first year, so he likes making real sure the whole class knows I stupid I am.”
Levi’s eyes went hard, but he kept his voice soft as he stroked Eren’s hair. “You’re not stupid.”
Eren laughed, and shot a brief, mischievous glance at Levi. “Really? I seem to remember you told me I was ‘the biggest idiot this side of the state line’, when you were driving me to the hospital last month.”
Levi pinched at Eren’s arm. “That was different, idiot. You almost gave yourself pneumonia, running around like that and pretending you didn’t have the flu.” He turned his fingers, stroked away the slight redness on Eren’s skin. “But you’re not stupid. Never that.”
“Thank you,” Eren turned over, scooted across the blanket until he could burrow against Levi’s side. “It’s ok, he can’t fail me because the exams are all externally marked, and I get decent marks there. But today he kept calling on me and asking me all these questions, and when I couldn’t answer he’d do that, you know, sneering thing, so I got mad and I…sorta told him what I thought of him. Because he was being an asshole, and I swear we hadn’t gone over half the stuff he asked about, and if we had then that just shows he’s a bad teacher, doesn’t it? Plus he’s a disgusting perv, even if Historia and I couldn’t prove more than we did.”
He pressed in a little closer, wrapping his arms around Levi’s waist. His voice was muffled against Levi’s suit jacket as he continued, “So then he tells me I’m ‘an embarrassment to my father’s memory’.” He said the words mockingly, almost managing to hide the hurt underneath. “He told me the only reason I passed any of my classes was because my dad’s estate promised the dean they’d donate lots of money when I graduate, and I know that’s not true, but…” Eren sighed, pulling away from Levi and flopping onto his back, staring up at the ceiling. “But the whole class was there listening, and I just…I know some teachers do sometimes treat me differently because of my dad. So I guess I couldn’t really be entirely sure he was lying.” He half laughed, ruefully. “Maybe I am more stupid than I thought.”
If he’d been watching Levi’s eyes, instead of staring up at the ceiling, Eren might have been shocked at the flash of fierce rage that ran through them.
“And by the end he’s like two inches away from my face so his spit is just landing all over me.” Eren shuddered. “After class I went to the bathroom and scrubbed my face as much as I could. He’s creepy and gross.”
Very, very carefully, Levi fought to calm himself. Lightly, he reached out, flicking a finger at Eren’s forehead as he spoke as casually as he could manage. “There, there. Want me to beat him up for you?”
Eren laughed, turning his head to grin at Levi. “As always, thanks for the offer. Right now I’m going to rinse off any spit left on me, then I’ll go do my homework like any other good, diligent student so I can graduate as soon as possible.” He pushed himself up, planted a kiss on Levi’s cheek before sliding to the edge of the bed. “And then we’ll move, far far away, and I’ll never have to see him again.”
Levi watched Eren disappear into the bathroom, and quickly pulled out his phone. Ignoring the many increasingly irritated messages telling him his ride was ready and waiting for him outside, he sent out a brief text.
Change of plan. Personal issue came up. Abort mission.
There was a short pause, and then someone replied Sex is not a good enough reason to abort mission. Get your ass dressed and out to the car. Furlan has been waiting almost an hour.
Levi narrowed his eyes. Fuck you. Will require Furlan’s assistance with transport, equipment, possibly clean-up.
The reply this time took even less time. I stand corrected, maybe it is a good enough reason. Sounds like you’re planning some amazing sex.
Again, fuck you. I’ll be out in a minute.
Levi kept an eye on the bathroom door and tucked his phone away again an instant before Eren stepped back out, scrubbing at his wet hair with a towel.
“Levi, I just realized, didn’t you say you had to set up your booth today? Will you have enough time before the expo opens tomorrow?”
“It’ll be fine. Erwin is there already, he’ll set up most of it.” Levi stood. “I do have to go though, my ride should be pulling up outside any minute.”
“Ok, thanks for listening. I feel better already.”
“Good.” Levi stepped forward, wrapping an arm around Eren’s neck and pulling his head down for a deep, lingering kiss. “Now go study. I should be back late Sunday, but I’ll call you on my lunch break tomorrow.”
“Alright. Travel safe. Sell lots of vacuum cleaners.”
 --
 Levi slid into the car waiting at the curb. As they pulled away, the driver threw a disposable cell phone over at him. “Boss wants to talk.”
“Boss can go fuck himself.” But as Levi met Furlan’s eyes in the rearview mirror, he sighed, opened the phone.
“What do you want?”
“Me?” The voice on the other end was rich, deep, amused. “You’re the one changing plans at the last minute.”
“This is important, Erwin.”
“You sure you want to cancel? We might not have another go at this target for a while.”
“Let the client know we’ll get to it. Something came up.
“Uh huh. I’ll pass the word.”
There was a long, drawn out silence while neither Erwin or Levi said anything, and then there was a loud clatter as someone grabbed the phone from Erwin and a different voice yelled into the receiver, “Dammit, Levi, stop being a hardass and tell us what the hell is going on! I need to know. And do you need help? What’s happening? What do you need us to do? We can be on the next flight out there in…fourty-five minutes.”
Biting back a curse, Levi closed his eyes. “Hanji, calm down. And Furlan is enough, the rest of you can stand down. I’d like to handle this one myself.”
There was more clattering on the line, and then Erwin was back. “Then we’ll leave you to it, and give Eren my love when you next see him. Make sure to tell him I sold more…what is it you tell him we do these days? Oh, yes, tell him I sold more vacuum cleaners than you.”
 --
 Levi let himself into a large, empty bedroom. He sneered a little as he glanced at the fussy, oversized bed covered with black satin sheets and a leopard print rug, at the framed, stylized sketches of women wearing only artistically tied rope that hung along the walls. The man had a giant damned painting of himself, bare-chested and riding some unrealistically small horse hung over the head of his bed. If he didn’t already loathe his guts Levi would have been happy to kill him based on that smug, self-satisfied portrait alone.
But he wasn’t here to kill him today. After all, he hadn’t asked Eren if he could kill him, he’d only asked if he could beat him up.
And this time Eren hadn’t said no, the way he had every other time Levi had offered. He’d laughed, but he hadn’t said no.
Opening the closet, Levi gingerly searched through until he found a white shirt with the tags still attached. He spread it out on the bed and settled onto it. While he waited, he checked his guns, and unwrapped the kit he’d brought with him. It had been a gift from Hanji, and she’d slowly been teaching him how to use all the little tools.
He wasn’t anywhere near as good at torturing as she was, but he could get by.
As he laid everything out, Levi wondered, not for the first time, if Eren would enjoy coming along on these trips once Levi told him he, Erwin, Hanji and the rest didn’t really sell vacuum cleaners for a living, and told him the truth about what they did.
Unless he was very much mistaken, he thought Eren would take to this world like a duck to water.
But not yet. He had to finish college first.
Levi heard a noise somewhere in the house and sat back on the bed. When the door opened and a man that looked a lot like the man in the insufferable portrait over the bed, if a lot smaller and a lot less attractive, stepped in and flipped on the lights, Levi shot him with the tranquilizer gun.
He watched as the asshole’s knees crumpled, and he landed on his ass on the ground, staring incredulously at Levi.
“Who…what’s going on? Why are you in my room?” The man’s words were already slurring.
“Hello, Professor.” Levi smiled coldly as he ran one sharp tool through his fingers. “I’ve been wanting to meet with you for some time. We need to discuss your teaching methods.”
Again | Steve Rogers x Reader {Four}
Summary: There’s six hours left for the two of you, how are you going to spend it?
Part one: twenty eight years plus fifty eight more
part two: A month up to you.
part three: six hours.
Masterlist
Warnings: Angst, My  Writing and grammar.
Song: Again by Doris Day.
----
"Steve? where are we going?" You were still walking, Holding his hand in yours.
"We're going to.. Enjoy the last bit." He smiled at you, for a moment it made you relieved. After a while you both arrived in a small diner that was open 27/7, Soft music was playing from inside which grew louder as you walked in.
There was only a few people inside, some probably from work. It gave you a warm feeling, probably because of the smell of the food or maybe because of the lady's voice who was singing on the small stage.  You both sat down the nearest booth and a woman wearing a red uniform approached you.
"Hello what can I get for you?" She asked with a bright smile, which quickly fell when she saw your timer. You quickly hid your index finger with your thumb and returned the smile.
"We'll get two Y/f/f and some coke, please." Steve answered her question, the woman quickly snapped out of her thoughts and wrote everything down.
"Alright, we'll serve it as fast as we could." She gave you a sympathetic smile before leaving.  Silence grew between you and Steve your hands were slightly shaking on the table, but a hand held it to keep it still.
"It's goin' to be okay." You both knew it wasn't, but you still nodded at him as if it will. Steve suddenly stood up, still holding your hand you looked at him quizzically, he just smiled and dragged you with him to the middle of the room before leaving you for a minute to ask the woman to play a song you didn't know what it was but she just smiled and got ready for the song. Steve came back to you with a soft grin.
"What are you up to?" You asked him as he carefully wrapped his arms around your waist.
"Back then, I missed a dance with someone i fell in love with. I missed my chance with her but I'm not doing the same mistake again." He answered. "We've got five hours, and it's a pretty short song." he chuckled as the song started.
Again, this couldn't happen again This is that once in a lifetime This is the thrill divine
"Steve... I don't know how to dance." You softly laughed at your own words.
"Neither do I." But you both kept going, swaying to the music. You heard someone ask what you were both doing and someone answered saying that you've only got a few hours left, what they didn't know was the man in front of you only had a few hours left, too.
It was supposed to be fun month, where you'd take Steve to places and he'd love it. Falling in love with each other wasn't a part of the plan but it was the greatest thing about everything, a month ago you were scared as you almost died until Steve came along. But now you were terrified of what was about to come, but Steve's presence took all your worries away as he held you closer until you could feel his heartbeat against your chest, you looked up at his blue eyes which never failed to take your breath away.
"You look beautiful." he said, making your cheeks warm up.
"Even if I'm wearing an oversized shirt and pajamas?" You laughed.
"Of course." He closed his eyes as he kissed your forehead before resting his against yours, you wondered if you both looked crazy but for the the both of you it's the end of the world. Who cares?
We'll have this moment forever But never, never, again
The song ended and you pulled away from each other, the small group that was watching you both clapped for you as you and Steve walked back to your table where the food was waiting.
----
Steve's point of view.
One hour.
He didn't realize they had two hours left, you both already finished the food so he rushed to pay for it when he realized. He was surprised when they didn't take the money and said it was free. He kept on insisting but the man behind the counter told him to not waste his time with you, and he was right. The kind man gave Steve some keys that was an entrance to the rooftop.
"The building's high enough for you to see the sunrise." Steve quickly thanked him before dragging you with him, it was a pretty long way up but once you both arrived on the top it was worth it. It was still a bit could but you both didn't mind.
"Y/n?" he called for you attention, you turned to look at him. "I'm sorry if I dragged you into.. all of this, I'm sorry if you lost your fifty eight years because of me."
"Steve, If I couldn't spend that fifty eight years without you then I'd rather not have it. Sounds cheesy I know but you made the last month worth living for, we can't control it, we don't know if it'll change again." The sun started going up, Steve walked closer and held your cheek with his hand, before pulling you into a deep kiss, it wasn't like your first sweet and soft. It was passionate, filled with love and sadness, guilt, fear, and almost every emotion you could possibly feel at once.
-
You and Steve walked down to return the keys and thank them, you hailed for a taxi and one immediately stops in front of you. You and Steve slipped in and told the driver to go to the park where you spent you first day with him, you still have fourty minutes left. you'll make it. The car started moving, and you held Steve's hand tightly at the backseat.
"Steve, I re-" you were cut off by a car hitting you taxi, a loud gasp escape your lips as the impact made the car flip, everything went black for a moment before you gained consciousness again, you felt blood trickling down your face and your whole body filled with pain. You heard the ambulance arrive but Steve's eyes were still closed, you checked his finger to see that he still has twenty six minutes left, and so did you.
"Steve?" you managed to croak out, "Steve, please wake up." Talking made everything hurt even more. you felt someone lift you out of the van and placed on a soft mattress, They did the same to Steve but they kept on moving you away from each other.
"Steve!" You yelled. "please." You started to fight off their hold. Steve disappeared into a separate ambulance, the pain made you pass out.
It was supposed to go on this way. And you can’t do anything about it anymore.
After season 4 part 3
After hearing that you were in LA you laughed. There was no possible way that you were in hell one minute and in LA the next. Then Lucifer opened to curtains. You saw things you had never seen growing up in your hometown. From where the hospital faced you could make out the Hollywood sign.
“Lucifer... what the fuck?”, were the only words to escape your mouth. You didn’t say it in a mean way, more as in ‘holy shit I’m alive’ way.
“Come now, get dressed, we need to head to Lux.”, he said leaving the clothes he brought on the bed.
You scanned the clothes thoroughly; a white dress shirt, black dress pants, sock and shoes. It was simple, but it was one of the first times anyone had given you something so nice. You went into the bathroom to change, it’s not that you were worried that someone would walk in, you wanted to clean up as well. You took a cloth and rubbed yourself down to get rid of the hospital smell and carefully put on the cloths. You looked in the mirror, you wanted to do something with “your” hair but it wasn’t really yours.
A few minutes went by and Lucifer came back and knocked on the door. You allowed him inside with you and he looked you up and down. He wanted to say something that was clear but you didn’t know what. Finally, you said something, “how should I fix my hair? I’m not use to looking like this and I think you will have some insight on the matter.”
Lucifer came back to reality at that and focused, “All right them, with your complexion and bone stucture I feel if you did this it would be similar to your old one, but it would be right for the new face.” And he was right. It was simpler to how you use to do your hair but not so much it made the face look odd. It was that or you just really liked that Lucifer did you hair for you. You couldn’t tell, nor did you care.
Soon after that you and Lucifer made your way to the lobby of the hospital, and you tried to check out. The nurses and your doctor weren’t having it, they said after the overdose you should be monitored and should wait for your family to see you. It was Lucifer that was able to convince them to let you go. You were really glad and thanked him for the help, you weren’t to keen on meeting whoever this was family.
Stepping out of the hospital and feeling the air and sun was something to didn’t know you would miss so much. Lucifer had already gotten his car in front of the hospital and all you needed to do was get inside. Once in you put your seatbelt on and looked around. Lucifer had started driving away and everything was just, amazing. Your hometown could never compete with LA. Buildings, small and tall past your view. You looked at Lucifer, he was focused on the road but he seemed on edge, nervous.
“Wanna hear something that happened to me when I was nine.”, maybe some small talk would calm him down.
“Why not.”, he was definitely nervous from the sound of his voice but you think you saw him slightly relax from your voice.
“Well, it was a few days after my Aunt and her husband had bought a farm and my parents wanted to visit her. I was excited, I really wanted to see the sheep. So we get their and we talk with them and have some lunch, but it was around then I wanted to leave and see the sheep. I kindly asked if I could go and see them and they all said I could. You should have seen me. I got up and booked it to the sheep. Unfortunately when I got there I didn’t see any. Then I realized they they were in the inside part so I, being nine years old, climbed through the space between the fence and went over the were the sheep were making some noise,” you stopped for a moment to breathe and to try and not laugh for what was to come, “I looked inside and all I could see were two very ugly sheep having sex. I screamed and ran back to the house. After telling my family what I had saw they all laughed at me, and I was terrified. To this day I can’t look at sheep the same.” You ended you story slightly laughing yourself.
Lucifer looked at you and pulled over, you were worried. You shouldn’t have told him that, it was stupid. You looked at him and saw a big smile, then he bursted with laughter. In turn made you laugh. It took you both a good few minutes before you could even look at each other without smiling. After calming down Lucifer thanked you and clearly wasn’t nervous anymore. You laid back into the seat and continued with looking out the window.
It took about fourty-five minutes to arrive at Lux. Everyone there was shocked. When Lucifer stepped out of the car it was like he was a king. Everyone wanted him, everyone was taking pictures of him, everyone was looking at him. This is not what happened when you stepped out of the car. Some looked out of curiosity but they put their focus back on Lucifer. It was only when Lucifer came over and linked arms with you did people pay attention to you.
You were surprised yourself, Lucifer was linking arms with you. You looked at him and immediately knew why. He was panicking. You both weaved your way through the crowed and made your way to where Lucifer had said his place was.
Walking in you immediately made the fact that it was bigger than your old home. Lucifer made his way to the wall of alcohol and poured something in two glasses. He gave you one and took the other. You took a sip and realized it was whiskey. As you watched Lucifer sit down on his sofa you quickly tried to think of what to say.
“M/n, come, sit down.”, okay you were going to have to wing it.
You sat down leaving some space for Lucifer and sat your drink down. Lucifer drank the rest of his then sat it down. You didn’t know what was going to happen next so you waited for him to begin the conversation. He was trying, but you didn’t think he knew what to say, you didn’t know what to say either.
“I don’t know how this works. I’ve seen a therapist here, I know so LA, and I’ve tried making bonds with people. All I know how to do it tempt people, drink and do drugs. M/n, I need to know that you will help me, be by my side. Can I trust you?”, he whispered loud enough for only you to hear.
It was a simple question yes, but you knew what laid behind it. You’d been asked that same question many times, you promised those who said it that you could be trusted. You let all those people down. This time was different, this time you truly wanted Lucifer to know you could trust him. You looked him in the eyes and places your hand in his shoulder, “Lucifer, you can trust me.” You promised. You truly ment it and hoped Lucifer saw that.
Lucifer smiled and thanked you. Things were going to be okay.
Legacy [ Avengers x Male Reader] Ch.3
Thank you all so much for the rebloggs and likes! Please let me know how I can improve it or if you want me to add more to it.
___________________________________
A/N: I forgot to mention but the reader has Peggy's hair color but has Steve's blue eyes and his smile. this is all unedited at the moment. So I apologize. By the way this takes place before civil war but I will be adding the movie after a few chapters. And when I do who's side should he choose team cap or team iron man? Let me know please!
Tumblr media
"Agent Hill make sure to let me know if he wakes up. We need to keep this on the down low." A deep voice said.
"Of course. The doctor said it would take a few hours till he wakes up. It seems like all of his organs are functioning along with his heart." A female voice responded back.
"To think after a few years later the same thing occured to him like it did to Steve Rogers." The man voice spoke again.
'Steve Rogers he's talking about my father. Did this man know him or what does he mean by the same thing had occured. I have to open my eyes and move to let them know I can hear them. I need to see my mother and Tony.'
"Coulson found a pair of dog tags on him around his neck it seems like he was in the Vietnamese war back in the 70s." The voice of a woman said again. I was tired of listening talk in front of me. So I decided to give it a chance and open my eyes.
I was able to open my eyes and adjust them to the light. I looked at my surroundings to find myself inside a white room. There where machines surrounding me. I was in a hospital room. I took a look at my left side to find the two people who where talking. One was a tall male who was wearing black clothing along with an eye patch and dark skin. While the other was a woman wearing similar clothing. "Where am I, how did I get here." I asked with a raspy voice.
The pair looked at one another before the girl decided to speak up first. "My name's Maria Hill i'm an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and this is the director of S.H.I.E.L.D Nick Fury." I sat up on the bed taking a good look at them.
'If there agents from Shield then that means i'm in good hands. They obviously know my mother though they dress differently.' I thought.
"I'm going to be straight forward and say this but [Male Reader] you've been asleep for the past fourty one years." His voice echo inside my head. I shook my head running a hand through my hair. I yanked the tubes connected to my heart and arm. I stood up from the bed and looked outside.
Everything looked different outside. There was tall buildings with tons of different commercials and Ads. Looking down I saw many people walk everywhere. Their clothes also looked different many wore bright colors while other wear suits similar to the ones Howard wears. The different cars that passed by looked nothing like the cars I once knew. People had a screen on their hands while walking. Some talked with them placing it in their ears. They where right this wasn't the New York I knew or grew up in.
"Where sorry but it has to be this way. We found your body frozen under the water. We rescued you thankfully we managed to save you." Maria said.
I glance at them before staring down at my hands. "So what am I supposed to do now, all the people I kew are probably gone. My mother is probably dead already. And from the looks of my hands it seems like I didn't age so i'm probably still twenty nine years old." I said running a hand through my face just thinking of a possibility that my mother could be dead.
"Actually we want to ask you a few questions to get to know you better. And while been frozen you don't seem to age so yes you are correct." Fury said grabbing my attention to him.
I sigh running both hands through my face. I paced back and fort with hands behind my back. "I'll tell you everything about me. My name's [Male Reader] Carter Rogers. I was known as little Rogers during the Vietnam War. I served the last five years there. I had never met my father because he disappeared before he even knew about my mother being pregnant. My mother was Peggy Carter she worked with S.H.I.E.L.D and my father was Steve Grant Rogers also known as Captain America. He went missing during world war two leaving no choice but to have my mother raise me on her own with the help of my grandparents. I grew up around headquarters. I also grew up close with Howard Stark and his family. He offered me a job and worked with him in coming up with new projects. I also worked in a Bar in the night time. I was closed with their son Tony he was like a little brother to me and he was the last person I saw along with their butler Jarvis." Both of them glance at each other before looking at me.
Nick Fury took a few steps and stood next to me his hands where behind he's back. "Listen [Male Reader] there's something you must know. The thing is your father Steve Rogers is alive but he can't know abour your existence at least not yet. We don't know how or the reason why where frozen."
"My father's alive I want to meet him please I have to see him." I pleaded placing my hands on his shoulders staring back at him. "I need to even if it's from afar please all I had was a picture of him I beg of you Furry." He glanced at Maria Hill before turning back to look at me.
"You will meet him along with the rest of the avengers and will be staying at the Stark Tower here in New York. The avengers are a group of super heroes who's always protecting our world."
'Stark Tower and super heroes. That means there's a chance I will get to see Tony again and meet my father for the first time.' I thought.
"Are you listening Rogers, you will be given a new identity so starting from this moment your name will be [Fake Name] [Fake Last Name] you said about being closed with Tony Stark. When you see him he won't know or any other person besides us do I make myself clear." I nodded.
"I understand sir."
"Very well, let's get things ready the clothes in which we found you will be return but do not wear them. I don't want them to find you suspicious."
After Nick Furry and Maria Hill sorted out things. They returned my old clothes along with the small picture I had that day of Tony in my pocket. A tear dropped on the picture as I looked down at it. I recieved a wallet with money on it. So I placed the picture inside there unfortuanetly I lost the wrist watch that Tony had given me. They also gave me a pair of new shoes and a simple plain white shirt with some blue super tight pants appearntly they called them jeans. They also gave me a black leather jacket. While finish getting dress the people in S.H.I.E.L.D. created my new fake profile because there's smart people who can figure out that it's all false.
Agent Coulson showed me the day technology and internet which was now called Wifi. It gives you the ability to connect to the web with just a tap on the screen of a phone.
"I added Fury, agent Hill and my phone number on here incase of an emergency. The streets in New York haven't changed just a few new buildings here and there. So do you understand how a phone works." Coulson asked.
"I'm pretty smart with technology so this seems easy to handle. So you just tap the green button to answer a call and the red button to end the call correct. And you can also sent messages like sending a letter." I walked over to him showing the message word on the phone.
"That's correct but, when you sent text messages don't write them as letters just what you would say to them in person. Now come on it's time to go the files are ready. Furry informed me about your situation and let me say that i'm really honored for your time during the war in Vietnam [Male Reader] and one more thing your going to be part of the Avengers Furry thinks they could use your help."
"Thanks so i'm assuming you will keep my dog tags because it contains my real name. Your welcome Agent Coulson it was a duty I had to fullfill plus you can say I followed in his foot steps. But why would I join them if i'm nothing special just a regular human been." I answered confused as we begin to walk out of the room and into the hallways of the building.
"He thinks that you have the capability in being part of their team because your similar to your father. Your'e strong like him and its true no normal human can survive been frozen for over fourty years. Just like at it this way now you get to finally meet him in person and remember he's not supposed to know your his son till we figure out the reason why the same thing happen to you. And don't get too close with anyone either act normal as possible Furry orders."
We got inside a black fancy car. Someone drove the car while Coulson continued to talk. I could only watch in awe out the window as we passed through the city. New York had become such a beautiful place. It was nothing compared to before so many lights and people filled the streets. Never in my life did I dream about the future. I figured I wasn't going to be able to see it. But boy was I wrong, big shopping centers where almost at every corner. The tall buildings where above more than five feet tall. Some even had a transparent mirror so you can see people working in offices. With every turn the car made it I could only continue to stare. This place sure had a lot of nice views. But what made me feel like a kid again even for a little bit was crossing the big bridge of New York.
But what made me jump out of my seat was the small burger place I used to enjoy going when I was a kid and the last time I took Tony with Jarvis. I frowned thinking about that night. From there on I sat back down on my seat and listened to everything Coulson was telling me.
The ride to Avengers compuund took approximately an hour and a half because of traffic and outside of the city. I looked out the window to see the sky cloudy and gloomy. The car entered some sort of big open space where trees stood. Big gray buildings appeared surrounding the trees. A letter A in white was drawn on the ground I watched in awe at the imagine. This was where the Avengers where staying at. There was also a lagoon or river behind the biggest building. The fresh air made me feel at ease.'This used to be an abandoned facility' I thought. The car stopped in front of the building. Coulson got out of the car first then soon I followed after. I got out of the car and closed the door after me we stood there staring at giantic building. Coulson walked away first and opened the door. He stood near it staring at me. My hands where beginning to sweat and my heart beat faster each second.
I clutched my hands in fist taking a deep breath before walking inside the compund. I followed behind Coulson inside. But when I stepped a foot inside the floors where extremely shiny the entrance was amazing all the furniture matched the walls. And the windows where taller than I was. I heard steps coming from the staircase that was nearby but didn't pay much attention yet.
"You should close your mouth or you'ill catch a fly believe me it's not pretty." Said a deep voice. I snapped my head at the voice to see a tall male wearing pants and a dark blue long shirt. He wore some sunglasses and had raven hair. In the middle of his chest he had a glowing thing that looked rectangular. "Tony Stark nice to meet you." He walked over to us and extended his hand to me.
'This is Tony, he looks older than me by now I should be way older than him not the other way around. I missed the chance of seeing him grow up and now he's all a man. You have no idea how happy I am to see you.' Forgetting about the rules I go for a hug instead of a hand shake. I feel Tony tense up not returning the hug back. "Tony your all grown up." I whispered.
"Do I know you from somewhere kid." Tony asked as I pulled away from him.
"Of course you-" Coulson sent a big glare making me rethink my words. "Of course you don't know me I just moved to New York from.... Japan." I lied remembering the information of the fake name.
"Then you didn't adjust well with Japan's culture because they don't hug at all looks like you didn't get the memo." Tony joked patting my shoulder.
"I'm [Fake Name] [Last Name] starting from today i'll be joining S.H.I.E.L.D." I said.
"Hold it right there kid if your going to join our team you can't be calling us  SHIELD we are way better than they are and we are the Avengers. Unless you want to get smashed I suggest you keep that in mind."
"Right, sorry I just haven't heard much of you in Japan I apologize." I apologized before staring in awe at Tony.
"Tony will be able to guide [Fake Name] into the compund and mind showing him around so he can meet the rest of the avengers."
"Actually no I have plans with Pepper sorry you're going to have to ask Cap or Wanda heck even Vision will it was nice meeting you [Fake Name]." He waved goodbye and left the building without looking back.
"Don't mind him he's always like that with new team members. Furry informed me about you joining our team welcome to the Avengers Compound i'm Steve Rogers it's a pleasure to meet you [Fake Name]." Steve no father said walking to my direction. My father is standing before my very own eyes. My eyes widen at the resembles that I share with him. He was about the same height with a nice tone body similar to the picture mother had in her office. Except of course he was younger back then but still he hasn't changed a bit. The big hero everyone talked about back then was standing right there in front of me. I was frozen in place my mouth half open but no words seem to come out of it. I wanted to run and hug him, to tell him that i'm his son that I was creates by the love him and my mother had. That I was proud of having a father like him. But what if I did would I make him proud or just plain out disappoint him. Maybe this is a second chance at getting to know America's hero. After what felt like forever to me I had the courage to finally speak to him. Coulson nudge from behind and pushed me a bit forward to shake my father's hand.
"M-My na'name's [Male]- I mean [Fake Name] [Fake Last Name] it's a big honor to be part of your team. Thank you for welcoming me." We shook hands with one another.
"Agent coulson I got this from here i'll be showing him around and prestening the ones left. Should we come on there's people I would like you to meet." Steve said. I walked next to him and followed furthure inside the building. Coulson made his way back to the car driving away.
The furthure we walked inside the more my eyes continued to explore something new. Inside they had tons of different rooms along with an elevator that gets you to any floor of the building. The kitchen was average but bigger than my kitchen back home. While we walked together I couldn't help but admire him. I couldn't take my eyes from drifting to him. I felt like a kid who's just moved in to a new house with their dad and is showing him around.
"Your room is this one next to mine if you need anything please don't hesitate to ask. It seems that no one is in here besides us so later I will introduce you to everyone. By the way have I seen you before your face looks a bit familiar to me." He said patting my shoulder as he passed by me.
"Thanks for showing me the place it sure is going to take a lot to get used to a place so big with technology. But no actually we have never met before till now I used to live in Japan so i'm not well aware yet of everyone from the team. But I get that a lot and no need to worry Mr. Rogers I will come to you for help if needed."
"Just call me Steve or Cap see you around new guy." I nodded and watched as he walked a few steps away and went to his room.
'Ma I finally met my father and he's such an incredible person.I just hate that i'm lying to him but one day he will know the truth about me.' I thought to myself before walking inside my new room. But what I didn't know was that the truth was going to be reveal sooner than I thought it would.
Age Doesn’t Define Us
Tumblr media
Requested will not say by who for protection of there privacy
The door to your two bedroom apartment open. You didn't even flinch knowing exactly who it was. "Babe I am back from dropping Bird off with Bryan where are you," Your girlfriend calls out. "In here," You croak wiping your tears away with the sleeve of your sweater. "Hey what is the matter," Brie asked walking across the floor of your room. The thirty-five-year-old climbed into your bed and pulled you in her arms. You broke down sobbing clinging to the older woman. "Shh calm down I am right here what is the matter babe," The WWE Superstar comforted. "All I get is hate everyone always talks about our age difference they call me a gold digger and so many other hurtful things everyone hates me hates us together," You explain. The younger half of the Bella Twins sighed and drew you in closer. "Ignore them I love you so much You are my entire world I love you with my entire heart and soul and one day I will marry you ignore the haters I know it is hard but think about it this way they are people hating on you through social media behind a computer their cowards there horrible hateful trolls so ignore them you are a goddess and the love of my life and those people don't deserve to get those tears because that is what they want," The Mexican Italian woman explains. "I love you too and thank you-you are always here for me I could not have found a better woman to fall in love with you and Birdie you guys own my heart," You reply leaning up and connecting your salty tear covered lips against her soft full lipstick stained lips passionately. She kissed back lowering you on to your back so she could climb on top of you. She pulled away so the two of you could catch your breath. "Let's go out tonight Bryan has Birdie for the weekend we could go to Paris of Scottsdale just me and you go have fun forget everything," Your girlfriend of six months suggests? "That actually sounds super fun," You agree. "It opens at ten and it is only five so I am going to go cook us dinner you go take a nice relaxing bath," Brie directed before climbing off the bed and exiting the room.
Later The Night
"I have to use the bathroom I will be right back do you want to go ahead and get us drinks," Brie shouted over the loud music. "Of Course," You agree. "Here take my clutch my money is inside I will be right back," Your girlfriend instructs handing you her clutch and dismissing herself. You pushed through the dancing crowd to the bar. "Hey, can I get two Pimm's cups and two whiskey sours please," You shouted at the bartender. "That will be forty-three dollars and seventy-two cents," The bartender replies. You went to pull out the money when a hand reached around you and paid for it. You turned around to see a dark haired man with green eyes in a tux. "The names Nick what's your beautiful," The man that was probably in his fifties introduced. "Thanks for the drinks but I had it," You thank. "Wanna dance," The old man asked? "No thank you I am waiting for my girlfriend," You answer growing uncomfortable. "You could come with me I can show you some fun," Nick says. "Go the fuck away and leave my girlfriend alone before I kick your ass," Brie rescued you. "Like I am scared of you," The man growled spinning around to face the younger twin. "You should be now beat it creep," Brie demanded. "Listen, bitch, I just paid fourty four dollars and I didn't do it for nothing so me and her were going to the bathroom and she is going to blow me and then I will leave," The creepy old man demands. Brie clenched her fist and swung connecting right against his jaw. "What the fuck you bitch," He cursed stepping forward to hit her. She brought her knee up and connected with his groin. He fell to the ground cupping his genitals. "You fucking bitch I am going to kill you," He screamed from the ground. Brie grabbed your hand and took you over to the bar grabbing your drinks. "Are you okay did he hurt you," The Mexican Italian woman asked face morphing to show her concern. "I am fine thanks to you-you are my knight in shining armor yet again my love," You answer with a smile. "I love you and I would kill someone if they hurt you," Brie growled. "Down killer, I love you too now let's go dance," You tease before kissing her and dragging her on to the dance floor.
You sat front row in the stands watching Smackdown. Birdie was bouncing on your laugh and giggle. Brie was backstage getting ready for the night. Recognition blared through the speakers. A chorus of boos rang out through the arena. Charlotte Flair glided down to the ring a smirk planted firmly on her face. The blonde motioned to the ref and a mic was placed in her hand. "Hey shut up the queen is talking so guys hey Brie your babysitter isn't watching your girlfriend maybe you should put her back in her cradle while you wrestle," Charlotte says before laughing. "Question do her and birdie use the same diapers," Ric Flairs daughter says. The WWE superstar continued on and you felt like crying. You gathered Birdie, her diaper bag, and your purse and were about to leave when Beautiful Life blared through the speakers. She ran to the ring and started brawling with Charlotte. Security ran to the ring and separated the two. After she caught her breath the security guard released them. The Bella picked up the Flair's dropped mic. "Me and you match now," Brie demanded. Charlotte agreed. The security guards cleared the ring and a ref ran out. The bell rang and the woman went after each other. They fought for thirteen minutes before Brie got Charlotte in a submission hold and the flair tapped out. Charlotte rolled out of the ring back up out the arena. "Next time you even think about my girlfriend I will kill you and to everyone that keeps talking about Y/N age listen age doesn't define us if age defines your relationship you shouldn't be with that person Y/N and I are only five years apart and we are in love we also don't care about your opinion so leave us alone and fuck off and to Y/N baby I love you and I will never let age define us," She ends her speech.
