Huuuu I should be putting this on my rant blog, but its also something that I'm passionate about.... so I feel its more fitting to put it here than over on my depressing, anxiety-filled rant blog.

Look. I'm going to give Usher the benefit of the doubt and say it was nice that he paid homage to Michael during his halftime show. There's... things I've heard that don't sit right with me regarding his upcoming tour name.... but that's not the topic of this post.

What this is about would be the rewriting of history. The attempt to act as though one man is better than the other, the one man has only just now achieved the impossible of reaching the most views during the Halftime Show when that simply is not the truth; that is a both-faced lie through and through.

Usually when you see people adding context and facts on Twitter, usually its just one link. Maybe two if you're lucky.

In this case, we have FIVE different sources to prove this is a lie. Dating even to the ORIGINAL 1993 New York Times article that stated what Michael's Halftime ratings were. The original.

To spare you from having to get a subscription to read the article, and saving myself from doing the same, above is a screenshot from Popcorned Planet's coverage of this horrendous attempt to rewrite performance history. Michael's 133.4 million viewers compared to Usher's 129.3 million and yet Usher was the one to suddenly hold the highest-rated and highest-viewed halftime performance???

I think not. Don't let this misinformation and the media's lies win.

Today's episode being

Shiori experience Jimi na Watashi to Hen na Ojisan

Shiori experience has a wacky premise with the spirit if jimi Hendrix possesing our titular character shiori's body. Its weird all right but everything about this plot, characters and even action drama oozes with love.

Its clear this manga was made by folks who love rock music. They perfectly capture the experience of putting your soul into an instrument. The experience of creating a band. The experience of trying to fit in and feeling left out. The experience of being at a rock concert and feeling your heart shake in your body due to the intesity and loudness of the music seeping through your ears and soles of feel that vibrate due to the music.

The characters have so much heart to them. Not one of them doesn't havea motive or motivation or flaw. The main characters get so much character development just joining the band.

The art is absolutely stunning. Its gritty but with a good understanding of anatomy. The large spreads are worthy of being hung in a room.

While the official releases are slow its worth it. Everytime there's a new chapter i end up reading the entire stiry again just to experience it again.

The plot seems weird but its worth seeing through. A classic underdog story with an unconventional protagonist and a ragtag band.

One thing i absolutely adore about The Murderbot Diaries is how media, or MB being a media fanatic, is so important to the story. It’s not just a random character trait like a sweet little treat. It’s such a KEY COMPONENT and it’s just. perfect.

Media Boundaries/Boundaries In General

I'm super happy for all the wins that The Bear show has received so far this awards season. Here's hoping for more. They truly deserve it. ♥️

What they DON’T deserve is to be harassed by interviewers flashing JAW's Calvin Klein ad in their faces. Completely disregarding their collective accomplishments and making it about his ad. That was very cringy and very disrespectful.

I'm sure JAW is proud of the ad. He wore a nice Calvin Klein suit. But that wasn't an invitation for the interviewers to harass his castmates with blown up photos of him in his underwear at an awards ceremony (in front of their peers, no less). Media really needs to learn boundaries. That was REALLY inappropriate.

Also, I do think fans need to separate the actors from the characters they play in their fictional show. They're kind of blurring that line between their characters and personal lives. Clearly, the cast has a special bond with one another, and that was really nice to see at the awards. But don't make it weird for them. They are not their characters. They have personal lives. We shouldn't be shipping them on a personal level or making innuendos about their personal relationships. Again, boundaries. As Ayo had to make known on several occasions during the GG, JAW is her coworker, and you need to "separate the art from the artist."

I honestly feel like they would be less inclined to do press or functions together because people don't know how to behave and not spin things. Please let these people be. Dial down the weirdness. That's my two cents. 👍🏽

With that said, I love love LOVED seeing The Bear cast at the Golden Globes. Soooo happy for them. Such cute footage of them celebrating together. I hope to see more of them during awards season, and then I need them to go start on S3, please, and thank you. 🫶🏽☺️

Today's media:

Soremachi [And yet the town moves/soredemo machi wa mawatteiru]

On an outside view it's very simplistic and doesn't look like it has much to it. Its just a 16 volume manga series that ran from 2005-16 and was generally forgotten for its mediocrity. wWhat really sells the series is the characters and the town itself.

The manga follows hotori our main character around the town she lives in and she's grown up in. It's the feeling of a close knit town where everyone knows everyone. The friends that laugh and knock you on your head. The childhood friend who gets annoyed but still secretly loves you. The older sister figure you look upto who gets you into new books and hobbies. The uncles who greet you and ask about your well-being and studies that you can joke around with. It all reeks of this nostalgic feeling of home. Maybe not one you've lived through but you wish you do.

The homely atmosphere of this comes from how much the characters are seen to care about each other. This is best shown in chapter 13-14 where hotori dies and goes to the modern afterlife and she herself can see how this affects the town. How her parents are in greif and praying to the gods for a miracle to save her. How the shopkeeping uncles are enraged and are close to beating up the truck driver. How her siblings are trying to hold back tears. The disbelief of her friends and asking what she did to deserve this. How even the maths teacher who hated her was crying over her last test. Sanada's regrets over never telling her how he felt. How the grans who employed her prayed for her husband to take care of her in the afterlife.

It shows how much she has touched all of their lives and it doesn't feel out of left field because we spent the time with her interacting with the town residents. But god her reaction? If your heart was wrenched by her dad screaming she was only 16 then her reaction will rip your heart out because she's realising how much everyone cares about her when it's all too late and how much she cares for them all.

The series has its supernatural elements and its silly comedy elements. Its a very light-hearted comfy show that honestly ill go back and read again.

The anime is 12 episodes and done by shaft and hence weird cam angles ensue. But it does have a very short run as it only adapts 24 chapters. But a good watch regardless and sets atmosphere well. The opening is a banger tho.

The manga series ends by not completing every characters arc but hotori and shizuka's arc of hotori accepting that shizuka was her favourite mystery author the entire time. It doesn't end everyone's arc as life keeps moving and each arc would take its own time to end and yet the town moves.
