I saw this Twitter post and couldn’t agree more. When you think about it, Alastor behaves more like a realistic abuser than Valentino. Of course, this is completely unintentional by Viv since Alastor is supposed to be the favorite and quirky one. This is what happens when you make all your villains/abusers over-the-top, one-note, and super obvious bad guys. This is what also happens when there’s no established morality in the shows.
Then the fandom wants be surprised when Alastor is called evil or vile, have to keep citing potentially outdated outside sources, and Viv has to explain Alastor’s character in interviews instead of the show itself.
Like Stolas, Alastor won’t really be called out for his bad actions and the narrative will used this mysterious deal he’s in to make him sympathetic. Like Blitz, the fandom will blame Husk for the situation as he “consented” to the deal or probably say “Well he was an overlord too and he may have hurt people too”. Even though the show uses Husk’s deal to bond with Angel.

I know I said I’d stop watching Helluva, but since this is a five minute short and not an episode, I decided to watch it, especially since it revolves around Millie and Sallie. However I don’t have much to say, this short is honestly a nothing burger, it revolves around Sallie coming to the pride ring to visit Millie for an evening out, but the only scene that matters is the last minute because the majority is just a montage of Sallie and Millie going around town and enjoying themselves.
The major thing is the fact that Millie is excited to see Sally and has a fun time with her. What happened to that “sibling rivalry” huh Viv? You know, the one that you argued gave Millie depth? And by the way, this short does nothing for Sallie and Millie as characters. Millie is the same bubbly and nice yet bloodthirsty character she always is. Meanwhile Sallie was hyped up for so long and yet she’s kinda just….there. She doesn’t really have any interesting or defining characteristics, she really is a brownie point cardboard cutout with little personality, like I’m sorry but it’s funny how we finally get content revolving around two females and it’s very empty, though I don’t know what I expected.
Sallie has this out of nowhere forced emotional moment where she shares she’s upset that Millie left her home town. I guess this could have been interesting had it been built up before, but this is writer Vivziepop we’re talking about, nothing is built up and everything comes out of nowhere. Part of it doesn’t help because this is the first time we’re getting to know Sallie as a character and yet you’ve already retconned her relationship with Millie. In the end it doesn’t matter, Millie says that she’ll try to visit her family more and that Sally can visit too whenever she wants, then it ends with them watching a show. This did nothing for Millie’s character, her relationship with her family, or Sallie’s character, (if you can call her one) and I find it funny that the relationship between Mille and her sister isn’t even in an episode, they don’t affect the main story or plot at all that a five minute short was enough, it’s just telling lol. Anyways short wasn’t god awful or bad just a nothing burger, something Viv’s writing has been for some time now.

why are all vivziepop characters just

I think a big reason why Vivziepop's popularity in general is on the decline (besides her usual controversies) is that more and more people are realizing that she is creatively bankrupt. What I mean by that is that all she has is Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, which have lackluster writing and honestly the worst version of hell ever created so far, after she just up and decided to drop Zoophobia. And the idea of all these spin off shows alone doesn't help either.
Meanwhile you have Tracy's Lackadaisy which is just cats being mobsters during prohibition era St. Louise, nothing more, nothing less and it is honestly one of its biggest benefits.
You also have artist like Fearcrowz and their works. Look at Fear's Knell, it's a horror/drama story taking place in a some sort of hospital that might be purgatory, then there's Nightlight which is a story about a town full of monsters and In-Between which is about angels and demons after a girl for some reason. Even when she recycles the same character, they at least look different enough to fit in the respective world they are in.
Meanwhile Kedi has Afterlife which is about witches and fate and the idea that what separates life and death and heaven and hell is all bureaucracy and that horror thing that is hard to pronounce, hell, and even back when AoM was still being worked on, the idea of a school for monsters and a boy who gets his entire world flipped upside down because of this revelation was very creative.
Then there's Idolo with their Bugtopia and Monsters and Girls series both of which are very creative and unique.
The point I'm trying to make is that what separates Tracy, Fear, and Kedi, and Idolo from Vivziepop is that the former are creative and have created different worlds and different stories that end and of themselves are very creative even if they use concepts and ideas that have been done before but are tried and true meanwhile you have Vivziepop recycling the same world that you honestly wouldn't know is hell unless it's spelled out to you because it looks like it could be any city in the US, the same characters being recycled for spin offs that no one asked for, not improving on her writing, and just outright stealing ideas and characters from other people and claiming them as her own.
That's another reason why her popularity is in the decline and her creativity is very stagnated. Sorry for the long rant but this is something I wanted to bring up.
Nah, no apologies needed, it's a good rant! It's true. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that even aside from the controversies, aside from literally everything else there is to not like about Viv, there's very little to appeal to anyone that isn't already madly in love with her shows.
Viv's shows exist for herself first, her existing fanbase second, and she's having a harder and harder time holding onto them.

Holy shit the amount of hb fans saying brandon calling via a slut and an obstacle to the main toxic uwu couple as a harmless joke rubs to the wrong way. If this means to be a joke then it has to be the worst one I've ever heard. Seeing my cousins growing up in a dysfunction family which their parents divorced just makes me can't take this as any form of humour. They need to seperate brandon's skit from this show. The show wants to take via's problem seriously so to suddenly make this joke in favor for shippers is awful.
Speaking as someone who has divorced parents, seeing a teenage girl suffering from divorce and neglect from her father be called a "slut" and "cockblocking" because she DARED get mad at her POS father is kind of insulting. I don't CARE if It's a "joke", it's not funny.
Octavia has every right to be angry at Stolas for neglecting her in favor of his fuck-buddy, she's not "cockblocking". Stolas directly hurt Octavia yet SHE'S the one people are getting angry at??? WTF???
Again, as someone who suffered through divorce, this isn't funny, it's insulting and simply shows how the writers (and the fans) demonize all three of the people most hurt by Stolas' actions. Stella? She was just an abusive bitch to begin with. Blitz? Pffft, he only hates Stolas for being a prince. OCTAVIA? She should "cut her dad some slack" cuz he's "trying his best" and is just a cockblocking slut.
It's genuinely gross and in Octavia's case downright disgusting. These people refuse to actually look at things from these characters' perspectives and instead treat them as the spawn of literal satan cuz god forbid Stolas be held accountable for ANYTHING in this show and god forbid that ANYONE calls him out for his shit. For Stella, it's at least justified since she...isn't a good person. The other two though?
Ya, no. Blitz deserves a better boyfriend and Octavia deserves a better father. And I'm SICK of people pretending otherwise.

I just don’t understand the disproportinate hate towards the shows. For a show that isn’t mainstream, will never be seen outside of the internet unless you come across someone sporting merch, and is fairly inoffensive and whose worst aspect is it’s ocassional mediocrity, you all seem to view it as the most vile thing to exist.
I just really like the characters and the songs and seeing people constantly shit on it like it’s the most heinous thing you could be a fan of and that if you’re a fan you’re a piece of shit and should be bullied really hurts. Just let us like it in peace, please.

I wasn't going to address this, because every time I criticize Brandon Rogers for saying something stupid at a con I get a couple of hardcore fans yelling at me in the replies and reblogs. But I decided to make an exception because this is sad even for him.
No, I don't have a problem with the joke itself. Trust me, as someone who is old enough to remember Rogers' old Vine skits, this joke is pretty tame compared to his older stuff.
The issue here is that he's clearly throwing Octavia under the bus because the character isn't well liked among the hardcore Stolitz fans. As a lot of them hate her for getting in the way of their precious ship.
Now, I'm not the type of person who gets involved in shipping discourse (Because it's stupid) but I find it funny how Rogers is trying to score brownie points with the Stolitz crowd. Because fuck forbid anybody who works on this show not validate the fandbase's toxic behavior when it comes to shipping, am I right?
It's annoying how Viv and her inner circle will constantly defend Stolitz against criticism, but they'll throw every other character and ship under the bus.
I guarantee you that if you went up to Viv or Brandon at a con and said that you liked a ship or character that they disliked, they would spend the rest of the con side eyeing you.

Hey quick shoutout to "Rick and Morty" for showing that abusers are people too and are capable of change instead of making them into Sunday cartoon villains with zero depth, or turning them into a precious little baby who did nothing wrong ever, and for putting a traumatized character in therapy instead of stuffing them into a romantic relationship *Cough* Helluva Boss and Spop *Cough*

Hi. I feel like as a colour blind person with poor eyesight I should talk about how inaccessible Hazbin Hotel and Helluva boss are.
Tumblr media
THIS is how Hazbin Hotel looks to me (give or take, once again COLOUR BLIND). This is bad. This is REALLY bad. When your series is really hard to watch for people with VERY COMMON DISORDERS, you need to work on designing characters. Please. Really, this is horrible! It’s not even that hard, just change the colours up a bit.

As someone who lives with parents that constantly argue whenever they around with each other, would tremble in fear when they talk normally because of the fear that they will fight again, begging mom to not to come with dad whenever we go outside because they also fight, they don't divorce even though how much my mom wants to divorce; I'm honestly hurt that Octavia was called a slut just because she was "cockblocking" stolitz.
How tf can you call a child with divorced parents a "slut"??????
(sorry if its looks likes a vent)
No apologies needed. It's a horrible place to be in and it's hard to believe that anyone could be involved with the production of not one, but two scenes of Octavia breaking down in tears because her home life is falling apart and joke about her being "a cockblocking slut."

Octavia: “I just don’t like it my father neglects me in favor of the imp guy that he’s cheating and it leads to my mom to fight with him” Brandon, Viv, and most of shippers: “Wow you are a stupid, annoyed whore, die!” Octavia: “I am 17 year old” Wow this is just hate towards female characters for being in way of gay ships huh?
The way the writers and the fandom demonize all three of the characters who were the most hurt by Stolas’ actions whenever they get rightfully mad him in order to try and make Stolas look more sympathetic is kinda gross…?
Like they’ll instantly take Stolas’ side and completely ignore all of his bad actions to paint him as an UwU soft boy and demonize any character that DARES hold him accountable for his actions while neglecting looking at this situation from their perspective.
For Octavia it’s especially bad because this girl suffering from neglect and divorce who has done NOTHING wrong is being called a “slut” and treating as a monster from the rest of the fanbase.
Octavia deserves to be in a better show man.

It's kinda funny that some HH/HB fans hate Matt and Trey for saying slurs and making sexist jokes, but at the same time, are fans of Brandon Roger who also say slurs and make sexist jokes but I guess it's okay because he's a gay POC who works for Viv.

The fact that the Millie short wasn’t even written by Vivzepop just really shows that this woman can’t NOT bring herself to make anything with her female characters💀
